- Courtney: Welcome to the Rooted Women Podcast, the place for Christian women who are ready to grow deeper in their faith, find freedom from the things keeping them stuck, and confidently walk in the calling God has placed on their lives. Here we're getting rooted in biblical truth, having honest conversations about real life, and learning what it looks like to actually live out our faith. I'm Courtney, your host, and I'm so glad you're here. Let's get rooted. So we have finished the Rooted Woman audio series and we are just gonna keep diving into the word and looking at biblical truth and practical application together. I want to touch on something that comes up so often in in-person conversations, in my DMs, and just in passing conversations and things that I hear often coming out of Christian women's mouths. I love Jesus, so why am I still drowning? I I'm honoring God, I'm doing everything I need to, so why am I still in survival mode? We're gonna be talking about this today. I know that you love Jesus. I know that you believe in his word. I know that maybe you go to church and you're involved in church. I know that you probably pray. I know if you're a mom, you want to raise your children well, that you want to take care of your body, you want a healthy marriage. If you're married, you want to serve people, you want to walk in your calling. So why does it feel like your life is constantly on fire? I know that feeling so well when it just feels like You're constantly putting out all these fires, you're constantly stuck in fight or flight mode, and you wake up feeling behind. You are irritated before breakfast even happens. Your Bible sits unopened because somebody else needed something, or you just feel like you're running a mile a minute and you can't catch up. You can't even find time to open it because you've got all these other commitments before you and you're praying while you're unloading the dishwasher or washing the dishes or taking a shower because it's maybe the only semi-quiet moment. that you feel like you're going to get with the Lord and you're bouncing between these all day long responsibilities while ending the night wondering why can I not get it together? I don't think that that's the portion the Lord has for us. And I'm gonna get really vulnerable right now and tell you I am here too. I am there right now too. I don't necessarily feel like I'm putting out a million fires, but I know that there are some things I need to set down and I'm really struggling to do it. I'm really struggling to do it. And I don't know why. And I just feel this hesitancy. And I'm trying to sift through is this hesitancy from the Lord? Is it hesitancy because it's my own flesh? And what does it look like to do these things with excellence, to pause with excellence, to step back with excellence, to move forward? And what I know God is asking me to do, both with setting things down and moving forward in another direction. How do I do that with excellence, giving him all the glory, and also just doing it with other people in mind if that makes sense. And I think if you are a wife, if you are a mom, if you are a single woman and you've got a job and you're also serving, maybe you're volunteering and you care about other people in any other capacity, we can all find ourselves there at times because it is the natural versus the supernatural, the spinning of the plates, not wanting to drop them because you want to honor God, but you also still want to care about other people. And there's this fine line of balancing that before we get in a place of disobedience and walking in fear of man over fear of the Lord. And so I'm coming to you both raw and real and relatable and vulnerable and in this place and in this season with you. And I've also been in the deep pits of it where I do feel like I'm constantly in fight or flight and I'm constantly putting out fires. So I'm gonna share what has worked for me before and just be transparent that I'm working through a new thing again and you're not alone because you're not and you never will be because God is always by our side. I want to jump into the word today. We're gonna read Luke ten, thirty eight through forty two. So open your Bibles with me. I would love that if you're not driving, of course. I'm on the wrong page. Okay, so ten 38 through 42. This is Martha and Mary. I know if we've talked about it on the podcast before, so if you haven't listened to previous episodes, I do encourage you to go back because there's some other practical life hacks revol revolving around this story. But for today I want to read this again and talk about it maybe even a little bit differently. So Martha and Mary, now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village and a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his teaching. But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she went up to him and said, Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her to help me. But the Lord answered her, Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken from her. So in this passage, Jesus and his disciples are traveling. Martha welcomes Jesus into her home, and then Mary is sitting at Jesus' feet listening to him. Martha's behind the scenes, she's busy and she's serving. I want to say with full confidence, in my heart, I know I would desire to be Mary, sitting at Jesus' feet. I also know myself, and I can be honest and transparent here in saying that. I would almost score myself on a on a scale of one to ten, how often, how many days, how regularly would I be a Mary versus a Martha or a Martha versus a Mary? I would say in this season of my life, maybe seven out of ten times I would be Mary. But there's still those three out of ten that I would go and be like, I need to get everything ready. I need to prepare all this stuff. I need to do and do and do, right? And for a season that was actually reversed. I would say maybe three out of ten times I would have like, Yeah, I totally would. Want to sit at Jesus' feet, but there's lots to do. And I would have been constantly doing. And I think that was the season that I was in survival mode. And maybe even there were days where I wouldn't have thought about sitting at Jesus' feet at all. Now I know it's a necessary thing, just like Jesus said literally to Martha. And I I want to break this down a little bit because I think so often our hearts can be in that place of I want to sit at his feet. I know Jesus. I pray. I I want to serve the Lord. I want to give him glory. But then our lives are showing. That we are prioritizing other things. So let's walk through this. In Luke 10 38, Martha welcomed Jesus into her home. I don't want to rush past this because often we look at this and we get in our heads and we start to feel ashamed for being a Martha. Martha's not a villain. She wanted Jesus there. And this wasn't a woman that was like rejecting Jesus or running from God or being disobedient. Jesus was literally in her house and her heart was to serve Jesus, right? What makes the story so relevant to Christians? Christian woman is that she started to become frustrated and bitter in her own heart because she felt like she was the only one who was serving Jesus, right? You can have Jesus in your house and still have chaos going on in your soul and in your heart. I'm gonna say that again. You can have Jesus in your house and still have chaos in your soul. Your Bible can be by your bedside, but you might never open it and you wake up feeling like you're constantly behind, right? You can love God and still struggle with hurry, anxiety. Depression, perfectionism, resentment, people pleasing, exhaustion, overcommitment, misplaced priorities. Following Jesus doesn't like instantly erase dysfunctional rhythms that we have developed over years and years and years and years and years and years and years, right? Many of us have been ingrained in the way that we think, the way that we act, the way that we work. And many people will say, you've got a great work ethic. You've got a good I've heard that my whole life. You've got a great work ethic. Like you really you can do all these things. You're so good at multitasking. But there are often times when I'm so good at multitasking, I feel like nobody else is picking up a task. And their thought in their head is like, Courtney's got it. So I can like relax over here. But in my head, I'm like, won't you get up and help me? Can you can you do something? It's like the group project where you're like, I'm carrying the weight here, and everyone's like, Yeah, you're doing it well. We don't need to do anything. And you're like, No, you need to like put in the work too. And that's how Martha started to feel. And I think We just need to watch our hearts in those moments, you know. We I I wanna s frame it like this. You know, you can walk through the process of like salvation, right? Accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior. That happens in like a moment. Sanctification happens over a lifetime. It's not a bad thing to have to walk through a process of sanctification. It wasn't a bad thing that Martha felt that way towards Mary. And it wasn't a bad thing that she was serving and doing and working in the kitchen and and wanting to honor the Lord in that way. It's not a bad thing. We're just looking at the necessary thing. And in that moment, the necessary thing was just to be at his feet. And so that's the framework that I want you to look at it through because maybe are you going through your life instead of focusing on the necessary thing? You're focusing on all the things that you need to keep doing to keep the plate spinning in your life around you. And you don't know how to slow down enough to do the necessary thing. Because if you do, that plate will drop and it will crash. And that's just one more fire you have to put out. And you've said it in your head and you've said it out loud. If one more thing happens, I don't know if I can handle it. Maybe we shouldn't be speaking that way. Because maybe it it does feel that heavy. Maybe you do really believe that. Like if one more thing happens, you don't know if you can handle it. But let me tell you, if one more thing happens and you're sitting at the feet of Jesus, how much more comforted will you be when that one more thing happens than if you were constantly striving and stressing and in fight or flight? The response is different when we're there, when we're in that place, when we're sitting at his feet. And again, there is no shame. Martha wasn't a villain. She wasn't walking in disobedience. She was trying to honor and serve and open up her. Home to the Lord and bring excellence into it. But sometimes our fleshly desire for that excellence will change how we live out on a Tuesday morning versus a Sunday morning. It changes our reactions. It changes our priorities. It changes the way that we overschedule ourselves. It changes your thought life, which then opens up to changing the things that we speak out loud, which can in turn affect our relationships and then affects our definition of productivity and success. And then often we neglect rest. We neglect rest. So have you welcomed Jesus into your life without allowing him to really rearrange your life? Have you welcomed Jesus into your life without allowing him to really rearrange your life? And are you allowing him in this season to kind of disrupt your normal rhythm? Because his rhythm is probably the better one. Okay, let's go on to Luke 39. Okay, so Mary sat at Jesus' feet. She had a sister called Mary who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his teaching. Mary isn't just taking a break from work, okay? She is taking a posture of a disciple, a posture of someone who has full reverence for the Lord. Sitting at someone's feet was associated with receiving instruction from a teacher. Mary is intentionally positioning herself to receive from the Lord. And you notice what she's doing. She isn't producing anything. She's not trying to host or like. fix a problem or running around. She is simply just sitting, receiving. Like we don't hear her doing anything else other than sitting at his feet. This confronts our very idea of productivity and of success and of Christian rest and of just being a good Christian, right? Because we can go through the checklist of the things that we think that we need to do. Hey, I'm hosting a free holy habits challenge right now. I have a checklist of things that I want to do every day. But the most important thing is the first thing that we do Do every day. And that is putting God first, sitting with Him first, opening the Word first, praying first, praising first, worshiping first, really sitting there in gratitude first, repenting before we do anything else, getting in that place first before we do anything else. Because if I do that first, my heart posture is fixed and I've received from the Lord. And I can do everything else with an even greater measure of excellence than if I would have just run and and started my day hit the ground running and doing all the things that I needed to do to keep my plate spinning and And try not to fail, right? And that's why we get that feeling of why am I waking up feeling behind before I've even started my day? Well, it's because of your heart posture. Your usefulness to God will never be more important than your relationship with him. And I think that we need to realize that. And I'm telling you, I feel deeply, there are many of you listening to this right now, and tears just filled in your eyes, hearing that. So I'm to say it again. Your usefulness to God will never be more important than your relationship with him. How is your relationship with him? Maybe you're serving and you're volunteering and you're involved in things and you've prayed through your yeses and you feel really good about it, but your relationship actually feels distant. You need to fix that part first. Okay. Meanwhile, you know, in this whole process of everything, Jesus is really asking, like, are you listening to me? Are you doing the necessary thing here? Are you receiving from me? No, Martha's running around doing everything else and then noticing her sister over there and starting to get bitter about it. I don't want my usefulness to the Lord and my serving the Lord and my desire to bring excellence to everything that I do to get in the way of my relationship with him and my ability to receive from him so that I can go and do things in greater matter. I also don't want my desire to do those things to trump my obedience to what the Lord is calling me to do. And I think we can often get in that place because again, it's not a bad thing. You're not the villain. You just have a desire to do really good and all the things. Maybe you're a type A personality like me and you're like, I want to do it well. That's not a bad thing. But if it gets in the way, we need to kind of reprioritize and purify our heart before the Lord and make sure that we are not what? Luke ten forty, distracted, right? Martha was distracted with much serving. The Greek verb translated distracted. carries the t the sense of being pulled or drawn away. So she is literally being pulled away from the Lord in this sense. All these other things are pulling you away. Maybe it's a notification that pops up on your phone or the load of laundry is done. You have to go switch it and you are supposed to be having your quiet time now or an email pings on your phone and you open it up to look at it and now all of a sudden you're on Facebook, right? Maybe it's a little problem that happened in your life and you're putting all this emphasis on it and you haven't even surrendered it to the Lord, but you opened up that piece of paper in the mail and now that's all you can think about. One more thing should probably be, you know, just this little thing that you can set off to the side, but often the enemy uses that one more thing to distract us and pull us away, right? And so when we have all these little things that start pulling us away, that's where that feeling of it's impossible to get that time with the Lord. It's impossible to sit at his feet. It's impossible. And then when we start feeling that the enemy, of course, as he does, will bring in shame. And now I feel like, wow, not only is it impossible, but I'm failing as a daughter. I'm failing to glorify God. I'm failing to have my quiet time with him. I'm failing to get in the word. I'm failing at all these things. And now shame is in our ear, makes it even more difficult to get to the thing that we want to do. And then of course it takes away from the excellence that we're bringing to all the things that we're doing anyway. Do you see that? Do you see this like domino over? Effect happening in the wrong direction over here. The problem wasn't that Martha was serving, it was that the service was taking her away, pulling her away from the Lord. It was distracting her. Good things become dangerous when they are pulling us away from the best thing. I don't want just the good thing. Okay. I want the best thing. And the best thing in my life is the Lord. And if I get away from the best thing, then I get away from the great things that He has for me. And I will sit there coasting on maybe the good or or even mediocre things all day long. And then I wonder why. I wonder why I started drifting. Away. I wonder why I feel distant. I wonder why maybe I am reacting a certain way in my marriage. I wonder why I feel pulled away from friends. It's because I'm not getting that fix, that fill from the one that I need it from most. Only God can fill that void. You could be doing genuinely good things while your soul is like increasingly disconnected from Jesus. And that's why overwhelm can be tricky for us as Christian women because sometimes the exhausting things are the things that actually you were supposed to be doing. You prayed through that, yes, but now you pray. through it and you let that thing become the distraction. So just take an audit, maybe journal it. Did you say yes to something and now it's becoming this like passion project for you that's pulling you away away from the Lord and distracting you from the best thing that He has for you. All right, now the overwhelm starts spilling over. And Martha says, Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? bitterness, resentment. Underneath resentment is often something much bigger than that. Like, does anyone see me? Does anyone see how much I'm caring? And even deeper, like, God, do you see me? God, don't you see how much I'm doing? God, don't you see? You know, and often we do that as Christian women. I know I've done it before where I'm like, God, I literally am obeying you in every area. I'm trying to serve you in every area. Why is This thing happening. And every time it's like a slap in the face, I'm like, whoop, because I wasn't actually seeking him in all of it. And I thought I was, but I did at the beginning and then I got distracted and I pulled away from that. And now I need to refocus and recenter. Not a bad thing. We have human flesh. We are all sinners. All you need to do is reprioritize, recenter on the Lord, and move forward from there. Don't let the enemy bring in shame just because you got distracted, just because it brought in resentment. Repent and move forward. Okay. Don't sit there for weeks and weeks and weeks. weeks wondering why, you know, you're in that place. You are the one that can pull you out of that place. Well, the Lord is the one, but you are the one that has to reposture your heart before the Lord for the Lord to do the work that He wants to do. Because He can't get in there if you're constantly filling the void with distractions. And I I wanna say something else, just as my own little as I'm reading it, I always laugh at this. But it's like she's saying, Don't you see? Of course he sees. Of course he sees. And don't we often get there too as like, don't you see that I'm like blah blah blah? And you could just go off and and get your little attitude and your resentment that starts to pile up. And it's like, of course, of course people see it in our lives. Of course God saw that. Of course Jesus was seeing everything, but He was saying that wasn't the necessary thing. So yes, he saw it, but he saw it from the different perspective. And I wanna have the Lord's lens on things in my life. I don't want to have my own lens on things in my life. I wanna be able to see from his perspective, not my own, because mine is often twisted. And so ask him for that. Pray that, Lord, let me see things the way that you see them. Let me have your perspective on this situation and see the way that he changes your outlook on everything around you. go into Luke 1041, which is like literally the average modern day woman's autobiography here, because Jesus is saying you're anxious and troubled about many things. Many things. Raise your hand right now if you are in the club of doing many things. I am like master of many things. I am, I like to call it multi-passionate. I have a lot of passions in a lot of different areas, and I have to say no to so many things in order to do some of the things that the Lord is calling me to do well. And often I can get sidetracked. Because I do. I just like, there are so many things that bring me to life that I find joy in, especially in this healed season, because I see the Lord in all of it, but that doesn't mean that it's all for me right now. And so what do you have occupying your mental space right now? and it could be simple things that you have to tend to finances, kids, marriage, your health, career, ministry, your house, your body, maybe something that's going on in the future that you have to work on planning for. Maybe it's somebody's opinion of you. there are many things. That can pull us away. But we want to make sure that we are submitting all of those things before the Lord. And when we don't, that's when the resentment builds up. And that's when we're like, God, don't you see? Of course he sees, but he has such a tender heart towards us and he's such a gentleman. He wants us to bring those things to him. He wants us to come to him. He wants us to confess, to repent, to sit and pour out our hearts, and then to receive from him. And I think, how is your prayer life? That's my next question. Is just how is your prayer life? Are you coming before the Lord, like praising him, and then praying for the things that you need to pray for, moving on? Or do you spend enough time sitting with him, really, really sorting out the things in your heart, laying it at his feet, and then just receiving from him, just sitting in his presence. That is what gets me through the hard moments, the hard seasons, the challenging things that I've walked through time and time again, more than anything else. I can pray and pray and pray and pray and pray, but if I'm not sitting in his presence, that prayer Only goes so far because I feel like there's no tangible. I mean, relationships are are this transactional, like I'm looking at you, I'm talking to you, you talk back to me. That sitting in his presence is part of that transaction too. My prayer goes up, his outpouring comes down. And I need that outpouring in my life to be able to be filled up so I can go and do the things I need to do. So maybe I can go and focus on the finances or the kids or or marriage or my health in again with clarity. To do those things with clarity and to be so filled with the Lord that all the little bitter places in my heart that try to come up are no longer there, right? But if I don't fill up with him, all those other lies from the enemy, my own fleshly responses, that's what starts to fill that void. So just make sure that you're monitoring your your prayer life and the way that you are spending time with the Lord, because it doesn't have to be this like two-hour-long Bible study. Bible study is wonderful. Getting in the word is necessary, but even in this instance, Jesus. Jesus is saying in Luke 10 42, one thing is necessary. Martha was focused on many things. Mary was focused on the one necessary thing. There's a huge contrast there. And the world always tells us, I mean, we're coming up to the end of the year, so be prepared. You need a better planner, a better routine, better time management, a cleaner house. You got to sort through everything, you know, declutter. maybe you need more discipline in your life. And all these tools can be super helpful for us. But Jesus goes beneath every single one of them. Every single time to fill the gap in ways that those things never ever could. He gets down to the roots. Hey, rooted woman here gets down to the roots and really nourishes our soul in a way that a planner cannot. Planners are fun. Maybe they're pretty, they're cool. You use them for how many months before you forget that you had the thing anyway? You know, and the routine is really great and it's wonderful, but then things shift and change and your kids grow and somebody needs a little bit more time at bedtime and your routine is different. And we have to be able to be flexible in those are those areas while being being disciplined in our our time with the Lord. Be flexible in all the other areas of our life, surrender them, be disciplined in our time with the Lord. Before you organize all the different things that are going on, the plates that you're spinning, establish yourself, root yourself with the Lord. Okay. Again, this is the rooted woman, right? My goal here is not just to have a plan on words. My goal here is for you to look at your life and be like, I am so rooted in my relationship with Christ. I am so rooted in the Word. I am so rooted in these things of God that everything else is going. better in my life because of it. That doesn't mean you won't have hard times, but that means that, you know, we we need the Lord. I'll say that. Jesus does not want us to abandon our responsibilities. That's not what the Lord has set out before us, right? Mary eventually is going to have to stand up. There's going to be meals that they're going to have together, right? Children still need dinner in our homes. Work still exists. Laundry piles will pile up. So the lesson is not to stop doing things completely. It is don't let doing become the place from which your identity or your peace or your work flow from. Let all of that flow from the overflow that Jesus has poured out to you because you're spending enough time in his presence doing the necessary thing, just sitting at his feet. Okay, so going back to the title of the podcast, why does my life still feel like it's on fire? Even though you follow Jesus, still feels like you're spinning all these plates, you're stressing and you're striving. Maybe you're trying to manage externally. all these other things that are going on, but God is trying to transform you internally right now. And I've been in that place and I know what it feels like. And it's like I don't know how to take care of what's going on inside of me because it feels like a constant storm. That is the surefire sign that you need to set some things down and spend even more time with him. Nothing else is going to fail because you set it down. And maybe in the world it will look like the world's, you know, definition of failure, but it's not going to completely fail fail and fall apart if you set it down for a season, a week, a weekend, go away. Get time with God. Let him pull the things out that need pulled out and and water the things that need watering in your your soul and your heart. Let him clear your mind. Let him give you clarity and vision and wisdom and discernment and direction. Let him do those things instead of letting all the other things cloud you so much that you can't hear from him or receive from him in that way. And serving is not a bad thing. Remember that. But are you serving Yeah. Are you serving before you're receiving from the Lord? You cannot have it in that order. You have to receive before you go and serve. You have to abide before you're reacting. There was a season in my life where my husband and I were fighting all the time. And I was like in my mind thinking, God, what do I do? Because I feel like we're both just trying to share our hearts, but it's not being heard because we're walking through a season of healing and something needs to change here. And the Lord just prompted me to step away, to excuse myself to be with the Lord and to step away. And I started, I would get really upset and I would feel it was like my heart rate would start going and I knew that I was about to react instead of responding gently. And I didn't want to disrespect my husband. And so I would just say, I need to take a break from the conversation. I'm gonna go and pray. And I would sit there and abide in the Lord before I responded to my husband, and I would always come back out, repent for what I did wrong, we would reconnect. And we started healing in our marriage in this way in such a beautiful way, because I was able to step away and be. With the Lord and let the Lord fill that gap instead of expecting my husband to constantly be filling a gap that wasn't his place in the beginning to fill, right? The Lord always deserves that place. Even though you get married, even though you have a best friend, even though you you accepted a new job, doesn't mean that the rewards that accolades the relationship there are supposed to fill that void. God always wants to be the one filling that void, abide in him. Also, think about the things that you're carrying and whether or not God actually. I've said this in multiple episodes and I'll probably say it till the end of time. Make sure that your yeses are from the Lord. And I don't think that the Lord is always like, yes, go and do this. Yes, go and do that. There are many times where he gives us choice and we have free will and he's not giving us any answer, wisdom, discernment, direction on any of it. And it's a learning experience for us. But maybe it's time that you set some of those things down so that you can sit with him for a little bit longer, so that you can fill up with him in a new and a different way so that he can heal those deeper places. In you. And I'm gonna say this for my people pleasers. So turn your ears up if that's you. Just because somebody needs something from you does not mean that God assigned that to you. Okay. Just because somebody needs something from you does not mean that God assigned it to you. It is okay to respond with, let me pray about that and I'll let you know if I can do that. It's okay with let me look at my schedule to see if that's feasible for me. It is okay to say those things and it's also okay to say no. It's also okay if other people in your life are disappointed with you. That's okay. That's okay. That's on them. They need to carry that. They need to surrender that. If they're not Christians, you can't expect them also to be able to surrender that to the Lord and come back and repent and ask for forgiveness and all of that. And that's where you're gonna get that fill from the Lord, where you're gonna release those expectations of other people in your life. You're gonna rid of that fear of man and be able to To have a full reverence for the Lord because you know what he's capable of doing when you sit and surrender all of that to him. Okay, ask yourself a couple of questions this week. What is like actually needing your genuine attention right now? What is actually on fire? Okay. Is there something that is like, yes, this is a huge problem that I need to fix right now? Maybe you're trying to figure out how to pay a bill, you know, people are like calling you and saying, hey, this is the last attempt, you know, can we put you on a payment plan? That's like an actual thing that you need to deal with and you need to figure out a solution for, right? So what is actually on fire right now? What is actually needing your attention? And then what feels like it's on fire. Maybe somebody else's expectations of you, a conversation you had in a relationship that you're in, perfectionism. I don't know, we can get in our own head there, right? Really sit with the Lord and sift through that. Then ask yourself, what am I carrying that God did not ask me to carry? And how do I set things down that I need to set down and start processing through that? You might not have the answer to it tomorrow, and that's okay. You might not have it in journaling and writing it down in one sitting, and that's okay. But when you start to surrender that, when you start to have that conversation with God, when you start to pause enough to even ask these questions, you are going to see things start to shift and your heart posture will shift towards the things that no longer need your undivided attention so that you can give God your undivided attention, okay? You're gonna see on Rooted with Courtney, I'm going to start doing Rooted Truth for Real Life. This is going to be sometimes biblical truth practical application, and other times it is simply going to be me sharing where I'm at in real life and how I'm staying rooted through the process of it. So here is my little rooted truth for real life today. You don't need to get your whole life under control before you experience the peace of Christ. That's what I thought I needed to do in my season of healing. I have to get it all figured out. I need to to figure out the way to heal so that I can move forward in these things. I didn't need to do that. Okay. I just needed to give all of my attention to God every second that I could and trust that He was going to lead and guide me in all of it. And He did. And He healed me and He walked me through it. And I'm better because of it. And I'm so grateful that I didn't need to fix myself before getting to that place. That I just trusted that the Lord was going to shift things and redirect things and guide me and lead me through that process. As you go through the week, just remember many things will demand your attention and try to distract you from the one thing that is necessary. Don't omit. The one thing that is necessary. Get in his presence that week. When we get that in right order, we don't necessarily have less to do, but we have a different place from which we do it. And that's what I want for you as we walk out of this week. You can love Jesus and still have a life that feels like it's on fire, but you don't have to keep fighting every fire alone. Sit at his feet, get in his presence, listen to the wisdom and discernment that he's giving you. Let's pray for that today. Father God, I thank you for the women who are listening, Lord. And I know the feeling of spinning lots of plates and feeling like things are on fire and waking up feeling behind. And so I just pray, Father God, that you help her to sit at your feet, to surrender, to soak in your presence, change her prayers, Lord, change her prayer life from simply repenting and praising you and and praying for the things that she feels like needs covered, to allowing for more room to just sit with you, not to speak, not to pray, not to do anything but to receive from you. And I pray that she feels a difference in her heart and her mind and her soul in the responses that she has, Lord, and in the things that she's carrying. I pray, Lord, for wisdom and discernment and guidance and direction to be able to set things down that are no longer hers to carry and to be able to move forward in the direction that you're calling her to go. And Father, if this is a healing season for her Lord. I pray that she does not feel like she has to, I don't know, have it all figured out and fix herself before she can do the next right thing, but that she can sit with you and do the next right thing as you continue to heal her and then do the next right thing as you continue to heal her and do the next right thing as you continue to heal her over and over again until she's in a place where she's like, whoa, I once was this way. I now am this way and I see the difference and I notice the difference and I'm allowing the Lord to fill that gap in my life and I just pray that for her father that she will just have a a season of relief in her life, Father. We just thank you, Lord, that we don't have to fight fires alone, that we can surrender them all to you. And I just pray that over each and every woman who's listening today in Jesus' mighty name. Amen. Thank you so much for tuning into the Rooted Woman podcast. I'm so glad you're here. I'm so grateful for every single share. If you can continue to share it out on social media, I want more women to hear this. I want more women to receive freedom. I want more women to have biblical truth and practical application in their back pocket. And I'm just excited to see what God continues to do. If you're not already in the Holy Habits two-week challenge, you can still jump in. That is free. You can download it. I'll put the link in the show notes.
