- 0:11Speaker 1: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark review podcast. I'm
- 0:13Speaker 1: Megan and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan. I'm Wendy. I'm
- 0:16Speaker 1: a former homework hater. On today's episode, we are discussing
- 0:19Speaker 1: to Philly with Love, which originally premiered on the Hallmark
- 0:22Speaker 1: Channel on Saturday, April eighteenth, twenty twenty six, and is
- 0:26Speaker 1: currently available to stream on Hallmark Plus. A quick little
- 0:30Speaker 1: reminder that if you don't have Hallmark, or if you
- 0:33Speaker 1: want access to Hallmark Plus and you just don't want
- 0:35Speaker 1: to pay for another streamer, we have the best hack
- 0:38Speaker 1: for you, and it is using Hooplah, which is an
- 0:41Speaker 1: app you use with your Library card, which means it's
- 0:44Speaker 1: free to access Hallmark Plus in two week increments. We're
- 0:49Speaker 1: gonna leave a link in the show notes for our
- 0:52Speaker 1: how to get Homemark Plus for free post over on
- 0:56Speaker 1: Girls goneh Hallmark dot com, which is quite frankly, a
- 0:58Speaker 1: wealth of information. I'm sure like if any of the
- 1:01Speaker 1: big wigs at Hallmark listened to our podcasts, I'm sure
- 1:04Speaker 1: they love that hack of ours. They're getting paid, I know,
- 1:09Speaker 1: but I don't.
- 1:12Speaker 2: It's not like it's an ill.
- 1:13Speaker 1: I hear what you're saying, and I, yeah, it's not
- 1:16Speaker 1: an illegal access to a Hallmark plus. It is just
- 1:21Speaker 1: an access to Hallmark plus. Yeah. And I don't know
- 1:24Speaker 1: how that works, but I'm sure the library pays for
- 1:27Speaker 1: access to Hoopla, and Hoopla is paying all those books
- 1:31Speaker 1: and movies and Hamewark plus.
- 1:34Speaker 2: The rights to access it.
- 1:35Speaker 1: So it's free to you because of your local library
- 1:40Speaker 1: using their resources. You know. The other day, we were
- 1:42Speaker 1: at dinner with my parents and my brother said something
- 1:44Speaker 1: about the library, and he's like, who goes to the
- 1:45Speaker 1: library anymore? And I said, excuse mesar my exact words,
- 1:51Speaker 1: because I love the library. You do. In fact, last
- 1:54Speaker 1: week I was talking somewhere on one of our podcasts,
- 1:57Speaker 1: just tell me more that I was going to go
- 1:59Speaker 1: work at the library.
- 2:00Speaker 2: And I did, and it was amazing.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Was it just quiet enough to like there was a hum.
- 2:07Speaker 1: I put my air pods in and I was editing,
- 2:10Speaker 1: so I had that. But then even when I wasn't editing,
- 2:12Speaker 1: I had my AirPods in and it just muted everything
- 2:14Speaker 1: with the noise cancelation. And I'm telling you something about
- 2:18Speaker 1: working in a location like that. It was just head down.
- 2:21Speaker 1: It was like a three hour power sprint through work.
- 2:24Speaker 1: I got love it so much done, I cannot wait
- 2:27Speaker 1: to go back this week. I love that idea.
- 2:30Speaker 2: You want to join me?
- 2:31Speaker 1: I might? It was really nice. I'm also tempted to
- 2:35Speaker 1: check out my local library. Yeah, see what's going on?
- 2:38Speaker 1: What the vibe is in there? Yeah? I like it
- 2:41Speaker 1: better because before we'll get back to Hallmark in a second.
- 2:44Speaker 1: They had big round tables and I was like, I'm
- 2:46Speaker 1: not going to go sit at a big round table
- 2:47Speaker 1: just me. But now throughout the center of the library
- 2:51Speaker 1: they have just these long, double sided workstations with plugs
- 2:55Speaker 1: in the center so you can plug your chargers in.
- 2:57Speaker 1: And they have little lamps which are adorable even though
- 2:59Speaker 1: they're overhead lighting. And then sets a tone. It sets
- 3:03Speaker 1: a tone. It feels like a workstation. And then there
- 3:06Speaker 1: were quite a few people. There were students, but there
- 3:08Speaker 1: were people who, you know, were more my age. Can
- 3:12Speaker 1: you bring your own beverages?
- 3:14Speaker 2: You can bring your own beverages.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Do they have like is there a coffee stand nearby? No?
- 3:18Speaker 1: But my husband said the same thing, and they don't,
- 3:21Speaker 1: But they really should coffee car out front. They would
- 3:25Speaker 1: make a killing it on that, they would make a
- 3:27Speaker 1: killing Yeah, why don't they do that? I don't know,
- 3:31Speaker 1: limited resources. I would have imagine girls gone caffeine. Wow,
- 3:42Speaker 1: are you ready to get on with To Philly with Love?
- 3:44Speaker 1: Hit me with a synopsis. A teacher and an archivist. Btw,
- 3:49Speaker 1: she did say archivist in this movie because I'm hung
- 3:52Speaker 1: up on it, because when we did our movie review,
- 3:55Speaker 1: I was like, is it archivists or is it archivist?
- 4:00Speaker 1: I argue with you, no, but I just get these
- 4:03Speaker 1: are the things I think about when we're not podcasts.
- 4:07Speaker 2: So now we know.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Now I'm questioning you. I think it's archivist. I think
- 4:12Speaker 1: we said it was archivists the whole time. A teacher
- 4:15Speaker 1: and an archivist decode revelutionary War era love letters, taking
- 4:20Speaker 1: them on a thrilling journey through Philadelphia where they uncover
- 4:24Speaker 1: history and discover the love story of their own. Let's
- 4:27Speaker 1: check in with some news and notes about this episode.
- 4:29Speaker 1: To Philly with Love was directed by Amy Force, who
- 4:31Speaker 1: has twenty directing credits, including Melt My Heart This Christmas
- 4:35Speaker 1: and two Unwrapping Christmas movies. Keith mp Street wrote To
- 4:38Speaker 1: Philly with Love. Keith has nine writing credits, including the
- 4:42Speaker 1: Hallmark movies. A Greek recipe for romance Love and Gleacier,
- 4:46Speaker 1: a National Park romance, and Noel next Door. Noel next Door.
- 4:51Speaker 1: I like that movie, me too. Rebecca Dalton plays Emily.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Rebecca has thirty six acting credits and was last seen
- 4:57Speaker 1: on Hallmark and Head Over Heels in twenty twenty three.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Stephen Who's Our plays Nate. Stephen has seventy four acting credits,
- 5:03Speaker 1: and we last saw Stephen in Melt My Heart This Christmas.
- 5:06Speaker 1: He has an upcoming movie called Oh Little Christmas Market. Oh, oh,
- 5:11Speaker 1: Little Christmas Market. Oh sorrying Cat Burrell. Unclear if that's
- 5:17Speaker 1: a Hallmark project, Yeah, I was just gonna ah. Neither
- 5:20Speaker 1: the writer nor director are Hallmark mainstays. Probably not. Possibly not.
- 5:27Speaker 1: For the complete list of news and notes, you can
- 5:29Speaker 1: visit our show notes for this movie at Girls Gone
- 5:32Speaker 1: Hallmark dot com. Hey, Wendy, what was your first impression
- 5:35Speaker 1: of to Philly with Love?
- 5:37Speaker 2: This movie made.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Me realize I only enjoy history when it's turned into
- 5:41Speaker 1: a musical.
- 5:43Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, Yes, ma'am.
- 5:48Speaker 1: You should have seen the face Wendy May before she
- 5:50Speaker 1: said her first impression, I told me all I need
- 5:53Speaker 1: to know my first impression is, oh, hey, it's National
- 5:56Speaker 1: Treasure Hallmark style. What did my face look like?
- 5:59Speaker 2: You like a grimace? You made the grimace emoji face.
- 6:05Speaker 1: I just want to preface this podcast review with a note. Okay,
- 6:11Speaker 1: and our recent listener survey, we gotten some feedback that said,
- 6:16Speaker 1: we don't we don't like dig deep enough into the movie.
- 6:19Speaker 1: We don't like it's very surface level, guys. My review
- 6:23Speaker 1: is very service level. Okay, so send your emails to
- 6:27Speaker 1: sometimes it's not that deep, folks. Yeah, let's talk what
- 6:29Speaker 1: we liked. I'm going to start first. I have a
- 6:32Speaker 1: few likes. The concept is stronger than the execution here.
- 6:37Speaker 1: I not totally in my jam this like historical love
- 6:41Speaker 1: letter narrative, right, but I want to give credit where
- 6:44Speaker 1: credit is due. The idea is solid in my opinion,
- 6:49Speaker 1: but for me, it never fully pulls me in. There
- 6:52Speaker 1: is just like so much meat, like so much to
- 6:56Speaker 1: chew through in terms of like information story that like
- 7:01Speaker 1: I was not interested in here. Let me give an example,
- 7:04Speaker 1: and I know where on my likes I couldn't help.
- 7:07Speaker 1: But compare this to many many signed, stealed, delivered movies
- 7:13Speaker 1: where we have some sort of like reveal of information
- 7:18Speaker 1: through discovery. Yeah, they knew how to do it. Oh
- 7:24Speaker 1: my delivery shots fired, and then miice this way possible.
- 7:29Speaker 1: I just think it was so much explaining itself versus
- 7:34Speaker 1: experiencing it. Yeah, in my opinion, So back to my
- 7:37Speaker 1: first point, I do think like the idea was good.
- 7:41Speaker 1: I just don't know the execution gets there. I have
- 7:45Speaker 1: a few other little likes, but I'm curious about you
- 7:47Speaker 1: what you liked. Well, if you think back to our
- 7:49Speaker 1: first Impression episode, which we referenced a little bit earlier,
- 7:53Speaker 1: I was very worried about fake Philly, and fortunately the
- 7:57Speaker 1: real Philly stuff is actual real phil It's not green screen.
- 8:01Speaker 1: They are in front of the Liberty Bell, they're walking
- 8:04Speaker 1: down those streets.
- 8:05Speaker 2: For me, it would have been such a.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Miss if we had tried to, like, look, this is
- 8:11Speaker 1: a statue that happens to look old and like it's
- 8:13Speaker 1: from the Revolutionary War. I appreciate that they filmed. You
- 8:17Speaker 1: could not have done this movie unless it was on location. Yeah,
- 8:21Speaker 1: which dot dot leads me to believe this is an acquisition, right.
- 8:25Speaker 1: I don't know the answer to that. I know there
- 8:28Speaker 1: was a lot of speculation that it was an acquisition.
- 8:30Speaker 1: I just don't know if we go back to my
- 8:32Speaker 1: first impression about National Treasure. I actually loved a little
- 8:35Speaker 1: Mystery Treasure Hunt along with the Ciphers. Now have you
- 8:39Speaker 1: seen National Treasure and National Treasure too? Is that Nick
- 8:42Speaker 1: Cage it is? I mean, I know of them. I
- 8:45Speaker 1: don't think I've seen I maybe have seen the first one.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Have you seen Wait a minute, is John Travolta and
- 8:50Speaker 1: those movies?
- 8:50Speaker 2: Two or Making a face off?
- 8:54Speaker 1: Ladies of the nineties Rise Up? I think I saw
- 8:58Speaker 1: that movie in the theater. I'm with my parents. Have
- 9:03Speaker 1: you seen the Da Vinci Code? Okay, look, I think
- 9:07Speaker 1: Dan Brown has come under fire and I don't know why.
- 9:09Speaker 1: So if he's problematic, don't come for me. I liked
- 9:12Speaker 1: the dvinc There's many future books in the Da Vinci
- 9:15Speaker 1: Code universe. I like that I never have any idea
- 9:18Speaker 1: what's going on. But I like when they're like, Oh,
- 9:20Speaker 1: this clue means this, and this clue means this, and
- 9:22Speaker 1: I'm into that you're gonna say something. No, this is
- 9:26Speaker 1: what I'm gonna say. Like the whole deciphering of the
- 9:29Speaker 1: like words and all that stuff. I feel like, can't
- 9:32Speaker 1: you put that into chat GPT at this point and
- 9:35Speaker 1: be like can't figure this out and it would maybe Look,
- 9:39Speaker 1: I know chat GPT has its problems too, Yeah, keep
- 9:42Speaker 1: your emails. I'm aware. I'm just saying, like, aren't there
- 9:46Speaker 1: AI programs who can? Like? I think that takes the
- 9:49Speaker 1: fun out of it. Have you heard of Myrtle? I've
- 9:54Speaker 1: seen a book at Barnes and Olpan. Yeah. People have
- 9:56Speaker 1: been talking about it on TikTok it is. They're mister puzzles,
- 10:00Speaker 1: like daily mystery puzzles. Will they give you like like
- 10:03Speaker 1: wordle like wordle but murder? Yes, like who committed it?
- 10:08Speaker 1: What weapon was used? Where? Kind of like clue oh,
- 10:11Speaker 1: Colonel Mustard in the library? We could right, And so
- 10:14Speaker 1: they give you like I've never done them. I actually
- 10:17Speaker 1: saw one at home Goods and I almost bought it,
- 10:19Speaker 1: but it was a little bit damaged and I didn't
- 10:21Speaker 1: want crumpled up because I like doing this kind of
- 10:24Speaker 1: brain work during the day. But I think that being said, sure,
- 10:29Speaker 1: you could plug the clues into chat GPT or the
- 10:32Speaker 1: AI of your choice in it, but what's the what's
- 10:35Speaker 1: the fun in that? I am no fun? Me too,
- 10:37Speaker 1: we have established I just want to get to me too.
- 10:40Speaker 1: I'm us fishing Amanda batula. No, I would say, I'm
- 10:45Speaker 1: just down the efficient road, like sure Racy J. Mayley
- 10:48Speaker 1: in last week's movie, where she just wants to get
- 10:50Speaker 1: the job done. And that's where I'm at because I
- 10:52Speaker 1: don't move on the next thing. I hear you. I
- 10:54Speaker 1: don't disagree with you. Nevertheless, I hadn't thought about that
- 10:58Speaker 1: element of it. I did enjoy it. I didn't fully
- 11:02Speaker 1: understand the ciphers. I was like, wait a minute, Like
- 11:04Speaker 1: you write the word and then you write the alphabet after,
- 11:08Speaker 1: and that's how you It didn't. I thought it was confusing.
- 11:10Speaker 1: I didn't understand it. But maybe they did it wrong.
- 11:13Speaker 2: I don't know. I just thought it was fun.
- 11:16Speaker 1: I like movies in this vein where there's like a
- 11:18Speaker 1: treasure hunt and they're like, oh, this means this and.
- 11:21Speaker 2: To that point.
- 11:23Speaker 1: I like that they followed it through. And in his
- 11:25Speaker 1: letter in the end he leaves a little clue for
- 11:27Speaker 1: her that he wants her to meet him at the
- 11:29Speaker 1: Liberty Bell. I thought that was nice. I like that
- 11:32Speaker 1: as well, which when I read his letter, I was like,
- 11:34Speaker 1: why is liberty written that way? Oh?
- 11:36Speaker 2: Look at you.
- 11:36Speaker 1: I wasn't paying close to the foor.
- 11:38Speaker 2: What you didn't pick up.
- 11:39Speaker 1: On the not until they pointed it out. Font was
- 11:43Speaker 1: completely different liberty. Finally, I have something else to say.
- 11:48Speaker 1: But one of the things I really liked, and I'm
- 11:50Speaker 1: really worried about saying this because I feel like your
- 11:52Speaker 1: reaction is going to be so strong.
- 11:54Speaker 2: I loved the re enactment at the end. I thought
- 11:55Speaker 2: it was really well done.
- 11:56Speaker 1: I knew it. She's covering her eyes, you guys, that
- 11:59Speaker 1: was well done. To have the actors dressed up in
- 12:03Speaker 1: Revolutionary War era costumes reading the letters to each other.
- 12:08Speaker 1: It was cute, except I'm telling you, I need Hamilton,
- 12:13Speaker 1: I need, I need more show. Okay, but when wear
- 12:16Speaker 1: it to me, I get it. But if you are
- 12:20Speaker 1: a person who is invested in the history, these people
- 12:24Speaker 1: care about this, then this event would land. Anybody who's
- 12:28Speaker 1: going to go to a to an event where the
- 12:32Speaker 1: archives not the most exciting job y'all right, is going
- 12:36Speaker 1: to put on an event, is interested in this and
- 12:40Speaker 1: just wants to see it presented in an interesting way. Yes,
- 12:42Speaker 1: I'd rather have it wrapped to me too. You put
- 12:45Speaker 1: the bad digs on stage, yes, give them a friend accent,
- 12:49Speaker 1: and I'm all in. But I thought it was cute.
- 12:52Speaker 1: I just don't know visually on screen if it translated.
- 12:57Speaker 1: I thought it did. Really, yes, I thought it was
- 13:02Speaker 1: Look for a Hallmark level fundraiser.
- 13:06Speaker 2: We've seen way worse.
- 13:07Speaker 1: I agree. I have one more like and you didn't
- 13:09Speaker 1: even touch on it. Well, I have something else too,
- 13:12Speaker 1: so go ahead. I like the leads here.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's my final thing. Go ahead.
- 13:16Speaker 1: We talked in our preview episode. I had asked, I said,
- 13:20Speaker 1: who do you think is the archivist and who do
- 13:22Speaker 1: you think is the teacher? Well, no surprise, Rebecca's the
- 13:24Speaker 1: teacher and Steven saarchaivis. I wish it was reversed. But
- 13:30Speaker 1: aside from that, I like Stephen who's our I feel
- 13:33Speaker 1: like with Melt my Heart this Christmas maybe he's stepping
- 13:37Speaker 1: up his game.
- 13:37Speaker 2: A little bit.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Yeah it he's not really getting like Hallmark movies because
- 13:42Speaker 1: Melt my Heart is also an acquisition. He is, so like,
- 13:45Speaker 1: why is he not getting hired by Hallmark? You know,
- 13:48Speaker 1: I was watching this movie and I was like, should
- 13:50Speaker 1: I feel bad that I'm have recorded audio of me
- 13:54Speaker 1: out in the world saying yeah, no, we are human?
- 13:59Speaker 1: You think the archivist is upset by that? He was
- 14:02Speaker 1: one of the slunny glasses. Come on, come on, Okay,
- 14:07Speaker 1: come on, But for real, I enjoy him as an actor,
- 14:11Speaker 1: and I liked him in this role too, because you know,
- 14:14Speaker 1: on the Jane Mysteries he's kind of While I like
- 14:17Speaker 1: him on those, I've seen him in some not so
- 14:19Speaker 1: great roles, like sometimes he plays like like in Melt
- 14:22Speaker 1: My Heart This Christmas, he starts out he's kind of
- 14:24Speaker 1: the jerk, right like Harry, he was just pleasant the
- 14:26Speaker 1: whole time. He never really was, like there was no
- 14:29Speaker 1: frenemy situation right. And Rebetta Doll cute as a button.
- 14:34Speaker 1: She doesn't get a ton of Hallmark movies either. No,
- 14:38Speaker 1: they're just playing adjacently. I agree with you. I liked
- 14:42Speaker 1: her leads too, And I just plagiarized a comment from
- 14:46Speaker 1: our Facebook group from mailman Steve.
- 14:48Speaker 2: I'd let him know I was going to do that,
- 14:50Speaker 2: he says.
- 14:50Speaker 1: I just finished to Philly with Love, and I can
- 14:52Speaker 1: say I was pleasantly surprised. At first, this seemed like
- 14:55Speaker 1: it was going to be an acquisition, mainly due to
- 14:57Speaker 1: the two leads, but it turned out to be an
- 15:00Speaker 1: example of an exquisitely rendered classic Hallmark movie. First props
- 15:05Speaker 1: to Dollsar dolls are their ship name Who's Oar and
- 15:10Speaker 1: Dalton kind of love it. Both Rebecca Dalton and Stephen
- 15:14Speaker 1: Who's are put on performances I've been waiting for for
- 15:17Speaker 1: a long time. Steven's portrayal of a recovering drug addict
- 15:21Speaker 1: in Chesapeake Shores was my favorite role. Excuse me, I know?
- 15:26Speaker 1: Do I need to do Chesapeake Shores? God? Take a
- 15:29Speaker 1: dape breath. I don't know. It goes back to is
- 15:32Speaker 1: there an audience for all of these series that have
- 15:35Speaker 1: been off the air for years? Send us your emails Chesapink,
- 15:41Speaker 1: Hello at Girls Gone Hallmark.
- 15:43Speaker 2: I want to watch it.
- 15:44Speaker 1: I want to see Stephen Who's our as a I
- 15:46Speaker 1: want to have it if there's an audience, but I
- 15:50Speaker 1: want people to watch it. Listen to our review anyway. Yeah. Similarly,
- 15:55Speaker 1: Rebecca's role in The Goodwitch was her standout performance. I
- 15:58Speaker 1: haven't seen her in The Goodwitch either, figure out what
- 16:00Speaker 1: seasons she's in. Since then, both have been cast in
- 16:03Speaker 1: movies that were less than wonderful. I agree, mail Man Steve.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Their chemistry was low key yet poignant. The romance built slowly.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Other than the misunderstanding that seemed a bit forced, seemed
- 16:13Speaker 1: believably warm. He goes on to say, I don't think
- 16:16Speaker 1: this is a top ten movie this year. However, it
- 16:18Speaker 1: was a well crafted example of a classic Hallmark movie.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Ten years ago, this would have been a great movie.
- 16:24Speaker 1: So people get really mad when we talk about mail Man.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Steve says it. I agree with you that our leads
- 16:30Speaker 1: were good. I agree that this movie. I tend to
- 16:36Speaker 1: dread a little bit some of the movies with these
- 16:38Speaker 1: two because of the movies they've been given. The movies
- 16:42Speaker 1: themselves have not been great. Nevertheless, to me, this felt
- 16:45Speaker 1: like a redemption story. Well good, let's take a quick
- 16:47Speaker 1: break and we'll come right back with our wishes. All right,
- 16:58Speaker 1: let's talk wishes when it comes to to.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Philly with Love.
- 17:02Speaker 1: The most glaring one for me is shouldn't this be
- 17:04Speaker 1: a fourth of July? Like, give me a this should
- 17:08Speaker 1: be in July. This should be a summer movie. You know.
- 17:10Speaker 1: That's funny because my husband the other day he was like,
- 17:12Speaker 1: when are the summer movies gonna come out? He's like,
- 17:14Speaker 1: I want to watch a summer movie. And I was like,
- 17:16Speaker 1: were you like, sir, it is April? Well, I said,
- 17:19Speaker 1: first of all, not for a while. We don't know
- 17:21Speaker 1: the June lineup, but we do know one June movie,
- 17:24Speaker 1: and it's it's a travel movie. So we have to
- 17:26Speaker 1: assume Passport to Love is coming back, which he's not
- 17:29Speaker 1: interested in. Wait, isn't Passport to Love. Isn't that January? No?
- 17:33Speaker 1: January's Winter Escape? Oh okay, okay, I know I thought
- 17:36Speaker 1: the same thing. So anyway, he was like, I just
- 17:38Speaker 1: want like a lak He's like, what about fourth of July.
- 17:40Speaker 1: I'm like, is Christmas in July? Yeah? So, oh, maybe
- 17:44Speaker 1: that's why they threw this here, because they do Christmas
- 17:47Speaker 1: in July.
- 17:48Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 17:49Speaker 1: I don't know why it's in the spring. Guys, that
- 17:51Speaker 1: is my biggest wish. I don't know why this play.
- 17:53Speaker 1: I mean, it doesn't take place around the Fourth of
- 17:56Speaker 1: July celebration.
- 17:57Speaker 2: It doesn't.
- 17:57Speaker 1: But it's about the revolution, and so it seems yeah, okay, yeah,
- 18:03Speaker 1: especially isn't this year like a big celibratory year.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Two fifty Yeah, something like that.
- 18:10Speaker 1: So I don't know. I will say this movie started
- 18:14Speaker 1: really slow. I didn't start to enjoy it until the
- 18:17Speaker 1: last third of the movie. And I said it some
- 18:21Speaker 1: time ago earlier in the episode. There's just so much
- 18:24Speaker 1: dialogue explaining things and that were not pulling me into
- 18:28Speaker 1: the story. Yeah, and I just found myself overwhelmed with
- 18:32Speaker 1: so much information because they're, you know, talking to each
- 18:35Speaker 1: other about what each other has found and like educating
- 18:38Speaker 1: each other on their respective Yeah, areas. I just was like,
- 18:46Speaker 1: too much, too much. Yeah, I would have liked to
- 18:50Speaker 1: see in terms of the letters, there's a lot of
- 18:52Speaker 1: them talking about the letters.
- 18:53Speaker 2: You know, we get that reenactment at the end.
- 18:55Speaker 1: I would have liked to see some sort of voiceover
- 18:59Speaker 1: slight reenactment when we're hearing that those letters being read. Yeah,
- 19:03Speaker 1: Instead they're reading these these letters on their phones, which
- 19:08Speaker 1: were so hard to read. As the viewer thought. When
- 19:12Speaker 1: it comes to the Ladies of Liberty, Yeah, I didn't
- 19:16Speaker 1: care about their nonprofit status and all of that. With
- 19:19Speaker 1: the woman's like, well there's something about non compliance, I
- 19:22Speaker 1: was like, what doesn't feel like the nothing burger of
- 19:25Speaker 1: an issue that you're making it out to be, Like
- 19:27Speaker 1: what have you done to lose your Like are you
- 19:29Speaker 1: misappropriating funds?
- 19:30Speaker 2: What's happening there?
- 19:32Speaker 1: And I didn't think it mattered. I liked the tie in, like, oh,
- 19:35Speaker 1: my grandmother worked with this and she was very proud
- 19:38Speaker 1: of the work she did, so let's tie them in
- 19:40Speaker 1: and help my work benefit them in some way. But
- 19:43Speaker 1: by adding this whole other, Oh, they're going to lose
- 19:45Speaker 1: their nonprofits heat us and they're losing their office space
- 19:48Speaker 1: and it brings in the sister in law in a way.
- 19:51Speaker 1: It helps add this additional character, But the whole story
- 19:56Speaker 1: didn't feel fully.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Fleshed out to me.
- 19:58Speaker 1: It's like it's like the Hallmark movies of your where
- 20:01Speaker 1: like they needed to raise the steaks. Yeah, further with
- 20:05Speaker 1: these kind of C and D storylines. Yeah, back to
- 20:10Speaker 1: not wanting fake Philly. There is so much b roll
- 20:16Speaker 1: in this movie.
- 20:17Speaker 2: The opening scene.
- 20:18Speaker 1: Is like it's like they bought a Philadelphia b roll pack.
- 20:23Speaker 1: I'm like, got to get our money out of it.
- 20:25Speaker 1: And it's just seen after scene after scene after scene
- 20:28Speaker 1: after scene of Philadelphia.
- 20:29Speaker 2: And then when they go to have the cheese steaks.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Yeah, the entire scene is b roll up until they're
- 20:35Speaker 1: on a bench Philler and Philly huh, oh what else
- 20:44Speaker 1: do wish? So just you don't do you think there
- 20:46Speaker 1: was just not enough content here? I don't know to
- 20:49Speaker 1: me it but like maybe there's a concern that it's
- 20:50Speaker 1: not gonna land as Philly. Enoughs better make sure everyone
- 20:53Speaker 1: knows this is Philly. We're here in Philly. Well been
- 20:56Speaker 1: a Franklin statue again. Yeah. We had that Christmas movie.
- 20:59Speaker 1: It was Jeff Beasley movie where they were like worked
- 21:02Speaker 1: in the er. I can't remember it right now, but
- 21:05Speaker 1: it took place in Philly too. The more the merrier, No,
- 21:08Speaker 1: the year before thought oh, oh okay, yeah with Donna Kelcey. Yeah,
- 21:14Speaker 1: with Sir Darius Blaine. Yeah. Is that his name? Uh
- 21:17Speaker 1: huh do you remember that movie? Yeah, but they didn't
- 21:22Speaker 1: hit us over the head. I was in Philly.
- 21:24Speaker 2: No, I agree.
- 21:25Speaker 1: They had a cheese steak and they had Donna kelce
- 21:28Speaker 1: there in her birds Jersey. Yeah. I mean that's kind
- 21:31Speaker 1: of on the news.
- 21:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I've got it.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Yeah. I thought the I thought the bureau was real
- 21:36Speaker 1: nice to look at. As someone who's never been to Philly,
- 21:38Speaker 1: I was like, I'm interested in going to Philly. Maybe
- 21:41Speaker 1: that was the whole point. Maybe the tourism board of
- 21:44Speaker 1: Philadelphia wants you to come to their city and hate it.
- 21:49Speaker 1: There's like a couple of things that I didn't love.
- 21:52Speaker 1: I thought the ending was super predictable with the ladies
- 21:57Speaker 1: of Liberty space that had and all that stuff, the
- 22:02Speaker 1: big like last third conflict. She's pissed thinking he's going
- 22:08Speaker 1: to take all the credit for the exhibit and all
- 22:11Speaker 1: it's all classic Hallmark stuff and have a real conversation please, yes, yes,
- 22:20Speaker 1: so these are all And then she sees like, oh,
- 22:22Speaker 1: brought to you by and she credits her grandmother and she's.
- 22:24Speaker 2: Like, oh, maybe I don't hate you.
- 22:26Speaker 1: Yeah, oh maybe he's a nice going after all. You know.
- 22:29Speaker 1: I know this is where I like to criticize writers
- 22:33Speaker 1: when I think that they should write a Hallmark movie.
- 22:36Speaker 1: These are the boxes that needs to check, and I
- 22:39Speaker 1: encourage writers to not do that. Yeah, are you ready
- 22:43Speaker 1: for did you see that? Yeah? I only have one. Well,
- 22:45Speaker 1: let's hear it at the beginning when she goes to
- 22:49Speaker 1: the archives, Yes, and she's walking by all those stacks
- 22:53Speaker 1: and they have alarms on them, and she's like poking around.
- 22:56Speaker 1: She wants to get in, she wants to see one
- 22:59Speaker 1: of them, and the alarm goes off and there's she's
- 23:02Speaker 1: pressing all the buttons. Do you remember this? Yeah? For
- 23:04Speaker 1: some I'm like, what are you doing in.
- 23:06Speaker 2: The National Archives?
- 23:07Speaker 1: Just digging around, touching things that you're not supposed to do.
- 23:10Speaker 1: And then he comes over and he puts the code in.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Do you see the code? Is it one two, three four?
- 23:15Speaker 1: It's seventeen seventy six. I like that. I like it. Now.
- 23:22Speaker 1: Why did I see Like I can see him touching
- 23:24Speaker 1: the buttons like from the side, you know, you know
- 23:28Speaker 1: what keypad or like a ninkey by heart right one
- 23:32Speaker 1: seven seven six, And I was like, oh my god,
- 23:35Speaker 1: I think that's adorable. That is adorable, although not that secure. No,
- 23:41Speaker 1: I have a few digits. That's some just comments. One,
- 23:44Speaker 1: don't put that football in the house of all that glass.
- 23:46Speaker 2: What are you doing?
- 23:46Speaker 1: Thank you so much. All I could think about was
- 23:49Speaker 1: like Marcia Brady and they're throwing that football in the house,
- 23:53Speaker 1: she just gets up, Oh, because if the kid and
- 23:56Speaker 1: the dad are throwing it, fine, but no, we're back
- 23:58Speaker 1: at that. You don't get it on it and throw it.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Would you ever never ever get out take it outside?
- 24:05Speaker 2: Take it outside.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Thank you for bringing that up. I was like, that
- 24:08Speaker 1: is so irresponsible. They keep talking about like, oh, we
- 24:12Speaker 1: only have Jonathan's letters. What are we gonna do in
- 24:14Speaker 1: what world if I've sent you a pile of letters
- 24:16Speaker 1: in what world would you have the letters that you
- 24:18Speaker 1: had also sent me? Nobody has both has of the letters.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Yeah, that.
- 24:24Speaker 1: It's I understand that I wanted to tell complete story,
- 24:26Speaker 1: but I was like they just acted like it was
- 24:28Speaker 1: so inconvenient that they only had one half of the letters.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Hit Mom is gonna make a quilt with Grandma's old
- 24:36Speaker 1: decorations and clothing. The entire quilt is red, white and blue,
- 24:38Speaker 1: So apparently Grandma lived in Philly and dressed like a
- 24:42Speaker 1: Philly caricature. Betsy Ross impersonator. I mean everything on that
- 24:46Speaker 1: thing is red, white and blue and stars and stripes. Finally,
- 24:48Speaker 1: when they are on the Betsy Ross House tour, I'm
- 24:52Speaker 1: looking at the tourists. There's like the kid up front
- 24:56Speaker 1: who's like looking as bored as he could possibly be.
- 24:58Speaker 1: Not a graphic tea in the bunch which everyone's wearing
- 25:01Speaker 1: solid colors. Not very realistic to you. No, there's no
- 25:05Speaker 1: like Budweiser tea or like baseball hat. Budweiser is an
- 25:09Speaker 1: interesting choice. I do feel like there's a lot of
- 25:12Speaker 1: men wearing beer tea's on tours. I don't know, I
- 25:16Speaker 1: just think there's a lot of graphic teas. Yeah, of
- 25:19Speaker 1: course I love a graphic tea in my wearying one
- 25:20Speaker 1: right now, No, I usually am though. What did you
- 25:23Speaker 1: rate this movie? I gave it two and a half stars.
- 25:26Speaker 1: I gave it two point seven five stories because I
- 25:27Speaker 1: liked it more than last week's movie. Oh interesting. Thanks
