Latest / OneLegUpAlex Media / Terminello's Take on Dodgers Elimination 10-17-26
Transcript
- 0:02Speaker 1: Here's your host, Alex Garrett.
- 0:07Speaker 2: All right, well, it's another Saturday of Terminalos Takes. I
- 0:10Speaker 2: like these Saturday catch-ups here, Louie. It's a nice break
- 0:13Speaker 2: from everything chaotic through the week and good to hang
- 0:16Speaker 2: out with you on a Saturday.
- 0:18Speaker 3: How cool is that?
- 0:19Speaker 1: It's very cool. I'm hanging out with you. Thanks, Alex.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Good to be here.
- 0:24Speaker 2: I know a lot about the Dodgers getting eliminated in four. Yeah,
- 0:27Speaker 2: just a sweep. But real quick, I'm watching Penn State
- 0:30Speaker 2: and Michigan, and I'm reminded when I was really little,
- 0:34Speaker 2: I'm sure you went to the kickoff classic at MetLife Stadium.
- 0:39Speaker 1: I did.
- 0:39Speaker 3: One year, Penn State played USC, and now they're at
- 0:42Speaker 3: the same conference. I never thought I'd see the day.
- 0:44Speaker 1: That's true. Yes. All those Rose, and they played in
- 0:48Speaker 1: the Rose Bowl.
- 0:50Speaker 3: That's correct.
- 0:50Speaker 1: That's so long ago, five, six years ago.
- 0:53Speaker 2: So, yeah, that was what I was thinking, and boy,
- 0:56Speaker 2: the Lions– Nittany Lions ever needed a game. It's probably
- 0:59Speaker 2: against Michigan because they've been struggling just as much as
- 1:02Speaker 2: Penn State has. But let's get to the issue at hand.
- 1:06Speaker 2: We talk about the Dodgers' ownership being in chaos. Did
- 1:10Speaker 2: that trickle onto the field? I mean, I feel like
- 1:12Speaker 2: there's some synergy here between the Dodgers' owner and the
- 1:15Speaker 2: team getting eliminated, swept by....
- 1:19Speaker 1: Milwaukee? Alex, I think a couple of things happened here.
- 1:26Speaker 1: I think the Dodgers ran the club a little bit complacent.
- 1:29Speaker 1: They were very complacent. You know, Snell doesn't pitch. He
- 1:35Speaker 1: only pitched nine starts or seven starts during the regular season.
- 1:40Speaker 1: They know that they're going to be in the playoffs.
- 1:43Speaker 1: They had a huge lead early on. So I think
- 1:46Speaker 1: it's a combination of things. First of all, it's the
- 1:49Speaker 1: law of averages, too. That ball that Will Smith hit
- 1:55Speaker 1: the other night, I thought was a grand slam when
- 1:57Speaker 1: he hit it, when they were down 1-0. And it wasn't.
- 1:59Speaker 1: It was only two runs, and the Brewers came right back.
- 2:03Speaker 1: The Dodgers have gotten old quickly, in my opinion. Mookie
- 2:08Speaker 1: Betts is not the offensive player he was. He's still
- 2:10Speaker 1: a marvelous athlete, plays a marvelous shortstop. Freddie Freeman, his
- 2:16Speaker 1: power's been diminished. The second half of the year. I
- 2:19Speaker 1: don't know if.
- 2:20Speaker 3: You think about that.
- 2:21Speaker 2: So and firstly, he may not have ever been a
- 2:23Speaker 2: Dodger if the agent actually provided him a contract. The
- 2:27Speaker 2: actual truth about the Braves giving him a contract offer.
- 2:30Speaker 2: But that's not a story for another day.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Correct.
- 2:34Speaker 2: But that was five years ago. So he's five years older.
- 2:37Speaker 2: But I think the thing about Freeman was he just
- 2:39Speaker 2: kept hitting him, right?
- 2:39Speaker 3: So he did it in 24.
- 2:41Speaker 1: And again, he had a good year. He had a
- 2:42Speaker 1: good year, but his power definitely was diminished. I don't
- 2:46Speaker 1: know if he's injured. Obviously, we know Shohei Ohtani is injured.
- 2:51Speaker 1: He has to be. I cannot believe that his performance
- 2:58Speaker 1: is not injury-related. So we'll soon find out how injured
- 3:04Speaker 1: he was. But he played well. And Will Smith missed
- 3:08Speaker 1: most of the year. Teoscar Hernandez, I think, is way
- 3:16Speaker 1: past his prime. So they all got old at once.
- 3:19Speaker 1: And Milwaukee was determined not to let what happened to
- 3:24Speaker 1: them last year. And they have a great defensive team.
- 3:27Speaker 3: They came in.
- 3:28Speaker 2: They came with a vengeance. And, you know, the guy
- 3:30Speaker 2: that had a redemption series. And I know I talked
- 3:33Speaker 2: about this last year with you, but Bryce Terang, if
- 3:35Speaker 2: he only wore it in that last year, that could
- 3:37Speaker 2: have been a different series. But this year, he actually
- 3:40Speaker 2: came back strong. Churio and Yellich, who's, by the way,
- 3:46Speaker 2: the first ever Milwaukee captain. I don't know if people
- 3:48Speaker 2: know that by now. And then Jake Bowers, former Yankee,
- 3:53Speaker 2: doing his thing in Milwaukee. you know, when he was
- 3:55Speaker 2: in New York, he had that kind of power too.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Like he was a home run hitter here for a
- 3:59Speaker 2: little while, while he was here.
- 4:00Speaker 1: And his story is interesting. Obviously he's played for a
- 4:03Speaker 1: lot of teams. Two years ago, he was going to
- 4:06Speaker 1: retire about 199 with the Brewers. He told the Brewers
- 4:09Speaker 1: that he's done. And then a couple of months after
- 4:11Speaker 1: he retired, his wife said, we're pregnant. And he said,
- 4:16Speaker 1: I need the help. He even talked about it on
- 4:18Speaker 1: the post game with the Fox boys about, yeah, I
- 4:23Speaker 1: came back for the health insurance.
- 4:25Speaker 2: And then Contreras, yeah, that's interesting. And then Contreras, of course,
- 4:28Speaker 2: the longtime catcher for them. And, you know, Gary Sanchez is, yeah,
- 4:33Speaker 2: you could tell how IMT was.
- 4:35Speaker 3: But also the other fascinating.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Thing is, and as people pointed out, Miz only won
- 4:39Speaker 2: five innings in the only start he made this series.
- 4:42Speaker 2: So I don't know if they're just still holding him
- 4:44Speaker 2: back a little bit or what, or if they battered
- 4:46Speaker 2: him a little.
- 4:46Speaker 1: No, Alex, it's the way major league pitching is in 2026.
- 4:51Speaker 1: We've talked about it. I don't get it. I don't
- 4:55Speaker 1: like it. But the Brewers did a great job of
- 5:00Speaker 1: manipulating and managing their staff. They have a great staff,
- 5:05Speaker 1: and Murphy's an excellent manager. And, you know, the thing is,
- 5:11Speaker 1: let's go back to the Dodgers. Strugel. Okay, game one.
- 5:18Speaker 1: He pitched only five innings. I mean, you know, media
- 5:22Speaker 1: has the Mets connected to Strugel. The Mets have never
- 5:25Speaker 1: said that we are interested in Struble. Yes, I know
- 5:28Speaker 1: if they did, it would be considered tampering.
- 5:31Speaker 3: Probably financially can afford him above other teams.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Right. So that's why the media says it. And I'm
- 5:36Speaker 1: sure the Mets will talk to him. But Alex, you
- 5:38Speaker 1: want to know something? I wouldn't. If the Mets don't
- 5:43Speaker 1: go after him, I wouldn't be upset.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Well, and I could tell he was under pressure in L.A.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Like even in that first in that half a season,
- 5:51Speaker 2: he was with them. You could just tell it was
- 5:53Speaker 2: getting to him. He didn't win his first start with
- 5:54Speaker 2: the Dodgers.
- 5:56Speaker 1: He's also now been in that dugout. He's been in
- 6:00Speaker 1: that clubhouse. Obviously, these guys are smart. As he evaluates, okay,
- 6:06Speaker 1: if I sign here for five or six years, yes
- 6:08Speaker 1: and I know, allegedly, the Dodgers have a lot of
- 6:11Speaker 1: prospects that are coming up. But again, they're prospects. But
- 6:17Speaker 1: does he look around and say, all right, that is
- 6:19Speaker 1: getting old. Freeman's 36-37. Teoscar Hernandez may not be here
- 6:24Speaker 1: next year. Oh, Matt Muncy is definitely, you know, not
- 6:29Speaker 1: the productive who he once was. So I wonder how
- 6:32Speaker 1: that's going to affect Schuble. So we'll see. I mean, again,
- 6:37Speaker 1: they won't. They made the playoffs 14 years in a row.
- 6:40Speaker 1: They won in Division XIII out of those 14 years. Alex,
- 6:43Speaker 1: the only year they didn't win in Division, they won
- 6:46Speaker 1: the most games out of the 14. 106, and the
- 6:50Speaker 1: Giants won 107, and then the Dodgers beat the Giants
- 6:54Speaker 1: in the playoffs.
- 6:55Speaker 3: And that came out of the final weekend, I believe,
- 6:58Speaker 3: a few years ago.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Now, here's the other thing that's interesting is, in a
- 7:02Speaker 2: New York perspective, This also means the Yanks are the
- 7:06Speaker 2: last team to three-peat, so that's safe for now. And,
- 7:09Speaker 2: you know, I would say that the Dodgers not three-peating
- 7:13Speaker 2: and what the Yankees did, 98-99-2000. Is it one of
- 7:17Speaker 2: those things we may never, ever see again?
- 7:19Speaker 4: Oh, no, no.
- 7:20Speaker 1: We'll see it again. That's one thing we'll see again.
- 7:22Speaker 1: I think we'll see that again. I mean, there are
- 7:25Speaker 1: certain things in baseball that, well, we won't see again.
- 7:28Speaker 1: But I think that's still viable. In my lifetime, the
- 7:33Speaker 1: Yankees have done it. The Oakland A's did it in 72, 73,
- 7:36Speaker 1: and 74. Fantastic team. Like the Yankees, a three-peat. And
- 7:40Speaker 1: the Dodger team was, you know, just that. They were fantastic.
- 7:45Speaker 1: But you know, they're still going to be, depending on
- 7:51Speaker 1: how this ownership stuff comes, they should still be formal
- 7:54Speaker 1: moving ahead. And that affects Struble. Again, everybody said, oh,
- 7:58Speaker 1: the Dodgers are going to sign Struble. Yeah, I would
- 8:00Speaker 1: say they're the front runner. I'm not sure.
- 8:04Speaker 2: You know, what's interesting is the Brewers, speaking of lifetime,
- 8:07Speaker 2: first time ever in my lifetime, that they're going to
- 8:10Speaker 2: the World Series.
- 8:10Speaker 3: So that's kind of special to see that for them.
- 8:12Speaker 2: And having been there in 2005 for a a science project.
- 8:16Speaker 3: I got to see Milwaukee a little bit for a week.
- 8:19Speaker 3: Nice city.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Like I actually liked that city. And I was thinking
- 8:24Speaker 2: of Laverne and Shirley, which was based in Milwaukee.
- 8:26Speaker 1: One of my favorite shows, Alex. I love that sitcom.
- 8:29Speaker 3: And I would say the Brewers did it their way
- 8:31Speaker 3: as the song goes, right?
- 8:32Speaker 2: Yes.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Oh, they have a great defensive team and a lot
- 8:37Speaker 1: of credit is going to David Stearns, who finally got
- 8:41Speaker 1: a team to the World Series. 11 out of that
- 8:43Speaker 1: 25 guys David Stearns directly has a hand on that roster.
- 8:49Speaker 1: So now we just got to do it in Queens.
- 8:53Speaker 1: So we'll see.
- 8:55Speaker 4: Speaking of Mets, did you know that, I won't get
- 8:59Speaker 4: into the stat about how they're the last team to
- 9:02Speaker 4: blow every lead in a postseason series and then loses
- 9:05Speaker 4: four games.
- 9:05Speaker 2: That's a stat I saw by Jason Stark, the Dodgers.
- 9:09Speaker 2: I guess had a lead in every one of them,
- 9:10Speaker 2: blew each game. But The Mets had a chance to
- 9:14Speaker 2: hire Pat Murphy in 2019.
- 9:15Speaker 3: Did you know that?
- 9:17Speaker 1: I did not know that.
- 9:19Speaker 2: According to Dugout Forever, one of the social media apps,
- 9:21Speaker 2: they were in the running to hire Pat Murphy. And,
- 9:24Speaker 2: of course, they elected for Carlos Beltran before the disaster.
- 9:27Speaker 2: And then the rest is history. But, yeah, Murphy was
- 9:31Speaker 2: on the short list for them. And I guess he's
- 9:33Speaker 2: 65 years old. Hey, you know, he's still got it.
- 9:37Speaker 1: And I think they will be favored in this series. Now,
- 9:41Speaker 1: if Tampa wins... You know, the game was postponed last
- 9:44Speaker 1: night because of rain. We don't have to worry about
- 9:47Speaker 1: it because, and I'm not counting the 2020 World Series
- 9:51Speaker 1: that was played at Arlington. You know, the COVID World Series.
- 9:58Speaker 1: This will be the first World Series that will be played.
- 10:00Speaker 1: totally indoors.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Actually, in 2008, the World Series was there with the
- 10:06Speaker 2: Tampa Rays. Right.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Yes. But they played Philly, and Philly was an outdoor game.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Oh, that's true.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Well, you know what's funny about that? And I guess
- 10:16Speaker 2: it might be colder in Milwaukee, so they might have
- 10:17Speaker 2: the roof on.
- 10:19Speaker 4: But, you know.
- 10:20Speaker 2: After what happened in game one against San Diego, maybe
- 10:22Speaker 2: the roof will be open.
- 10:23Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 10:24Speaker 1: It depends on the weather. I'm glad you brought that up.
- 10:27Speaker 1: When I was watching them celebrate, look how close they
- 10:31Speaker 1: were to being gone against San Diego. That Saturday night,
- 10:38Speaker 1: the home run that wasn't because it hit the— Hit
- 10:43Speaker 1: the guard rail up there. And then if Mason Miller
- 10:47Speaker 1: had closed out one pitch away from closing them out,
- 10:50Speaker 1: the Brewers could have been down two zip. Yeah. At best,
- 10:54Speaker 1: the three. It shows you how close, you know, things are.
- 11:00Speaker 1: But the Brewers are good.
- 11:02Speaker 3: The Brewers are fantastic.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Yeah. The Brewers are good. And there's a reason why
- 11:06Speaker 1: they had the most wins in the major leagues.
- 11:09Speaker 2: And in their franchise history, too, by the way. 100
- 11:10Speaker 2: plus wins, first time ever.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Here's a little number stat for you. Just one of
- 11:15Speaker 1: those little number connections. The Braves, when they played in
- 11:20Speaker 1: Milwaukee from 53 to 65, they won one World Series
- 11:28Speaker 1: in 1957. This is the 57th year of the Milwaukee
- 11:32Speaker 1: Brewers franchise. So if you want to play one of
- 11:35Speaker 1: those little number type relation type of that's a little number.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Well, and of course, we want to talk about spirits
- 11:43Speaker 2: and Bob Uecker passing before this year.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Yeah, Uecker's definitely with them. And a lot.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Of people had Uecker jerseys and placards in Los Angeles.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I mean, he's beloved. So I feel like
- 11:59Speaker 2: they're doing it for Uecker for sure. And you know
- 12:01Speaker 2: my story with him. I saw him outside of Shea
- 12:04Speaker 2: Stadium and he said, great run because of the Dynamets
- 12:07Speaker 2: dash at Shea.
- 12:08Speaker 3: Oh, okay.
- 12:09Speaker 2: I saw you running around there, young fella, and I
- 12:12Speaker 2: thought fella meant girl.
- 12:13Speaker 3: Because I had long hair at the time. I said,
- 12:14Speaker 3: I'm a boy, and he laughed hysterically.
- 12:17Speaker 1: But again, who didn't you meet?
- 12:19Speaker 2: But he was very nice, and we got him to
- 12:22Speaker 2: sign the Book of Wit, and I do miss him
- 12:23Speaker 2: because of his... And if anybody wants to watch something special,
- 12:28Speaker 2: his Hall of Fame speech is really quite up there,
- 12:31Speaker 2: so I want people to check that out.
- 12:33Speaker 3: All right, Louis.
- 12:35Speaker 2: On the other side, now, You mentioned the Guardians and
- 12:38Speaker 2: Rays and this whole rain situation, and they played on
- 12:41Speaker 2: Thursday one. But I didn't know the Guardians back in
- 12:45Speaker 2: the 90s, when they were the Indians, made it a
- 12:47Speaker 2: two out of three World Series and lost both of
- 12:50Speaker 2: them in 95 and 97. So they've come close to
- 12:53Speaker 2: breaking 48, but they haven't gotten there yet. Maybe this
- 12:57Speaker 2: is the year.
- 12:58Speaker 1: And Alex, the teams in 95 and 97 were much
- 13:01Speaker 1: better than this team. Much better.
- 13:03Speaker 3: Well, they had so many more stars. They did. I
- 13:07Speaker 3: think told me how to be on one of those teams.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Yeah. And I mean, they really had a good team,
- 13:11Speaker 1: you know, uh, uh, man, this.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Team feels like it's J Ram or nothing. You know
- 13:16Speaker 3: what I mean? And Stephen Kwan plays.
- 13:19Speaker 1: This team isn't great offensively. They have great pitching. Now,
- 13:22Speaker 1: Gavin Williams pitched, pitched a great game the other day.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Alex comes out after 70 pitches. The guy was dominant, dominant. And, uh,
- 13:33Speaker 1: That guy's a stud. Even in this day and age
- 13:35Speaker 1: of babying pitchers, that guy's a stud.
- 13:38Speaker 2: I think they're going to play straight through. Now, I
- 13:41Speaker 2: don't know if they're going to take a day off now.
- 13:43Speaker 1: No, I don't think so. I think they're playing straight through.
- 13:46Speaker 3: So what I'm thinking is we could still see a
- 13:49Speaker 3: seven-game series with this.
- 13:52Speaker 1: I think we might. It's interesting to see tonight the
- 13:57Speaker 1: guy I'm going to focus on is Caminero. Because Junior
- 14:00Speaker 1: struck out all four times the other night. And in
- 14:03Speaker 1: a short series, that can get into your head. And
- 14:06Speaker 1: before you know it, the series is over. You're done.
- 14:08Speaker 1: You're gone. So that's one thing I'll be looking at tonight.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Cleveland starting, you know, these openers. And they're going to
- 14:17Speaker 1: probably pitch eight guys.
- 14:21Speaker 2: And last week on this podcast, you said Freddie Peralta
- 14:23Speaker 2: is actually a good pitcher. He got them that game
- 14:26Speaker 2: two victory. I mean, he helped get them that game
- 14:28Speaker 2: two victory.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Oh, absolutely. He pitched excellent on Monday night. Probably his best, well,
- 14:35Speaker 1: definitely his best game of this year. And probably his
- 14:38Speaker 1: best game, because he's been in a lot of playoff
- 14:40Speaker 1: games with Milwaukee, probably his best playoff game that he's
- 14:43Speaker 1: ever pitched. But again, he only went six innings.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Well, I could, in fact, hold on one second. Should
- 14:50Speaker 3: I offend people right now, Louie? Because I'm thinking of
- 14:53Speaker 3: something here.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Hang on. You know, it's your show.
- 14:57Speaker 2: So when they were about to be renamed, I said,
- 15:00Speaker 2: let me get this keepsake.
- 15:03Speaker 3: And I still have it. I think it's Indian. So
- 15:11Speaker 3: there you go.
- 15:13Speaker 1: I still have it because.
- 15:14Speaker 2: It's.
- 15:14Speaker 1: A beautiful uniform, Alex. It really is. It's crisp. It's clean.
- 15:19Speaker 3: I always loved the blue uniform, too.
- 15:21Speaker 2: The blue Indian uniform was really great. Now the new
- 15:25Speaker 2: ones and the twins one was always good too, but
- 15:27Speaker 2: then they had to make it modern.
- 15:29Speaker 1: It's very weird, but you're right.
- 15:32Speaker 2: And you know, the last time they won in 48
- 15:34Speaker 2: was Bob Feller's era. And I'm sure you, well, I
- 15:37Speaker 2: guess you didn't see him pitch, but no, no, no.
- 15:39Speaker 1: I did not. No, Alex, I did not see him pitch.
- 15:42Speaker 1: But obviously I, Larry Doby, I knew very well because
- 15:46Speaker 1: he worked for the Nets and I was very good
- 15:49Speaker 1: friends with him and his family and, And actually, Larry
- 15:52Speaker 1: Doby Jr. still wears old Indians apparel. He doesn't wear
- 15:58Speaker 1: Guardians apparel. And I'm good friends with his son. But,
- 16:04Speaker 1: you know, Larry Doby Sr. played with Feller. He was
- 16:07Speaker 1: on both the 48 team and he was on the
- 16:09Speaker 1: 54 team. The 54 team, which was heavily favored to
- 16:13Speaker 1: beat Willie Mays and the New York Giants. And Willie
- 16:17Speaker 1: Mays made that great catch at the polo grounds in
- 16:18Speaker 1: Game 1. which turned the series around. Dusty Rhodes hit
- 16:22Speaker 1: a home run right down the line in right field.
- 16:25Speaker 1: I was one year old, so I don't remember it.
- 16:29Speaker 1: To win the game in the bottom of the 10th,
- 16:30Speaker 1: and then they just swept them. You know, in these series,
- 16:32Speaker 1: like Milwaukee, you win game one, sometimes that momentum carries
- 16:37Speaker 1: you and it's over before you can blink an eye.
- 16:42Speaker 2: We'll see how much of a rest they have, by
- 16:43Speaker 2: the way, because as we say, if this goes seven,
- 16:45Speaker 2: they're going to have a bit of a stretch.
- 16:47Speaker 3: And in general, they are because.
- 16:49Speaker 2: the series won't start until October 24th.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Right. Now, one thing, I'm glad you brought up rest.
- 16:56Speaker 1: I would be a little worried that the Brewers have
- 16:59Speaker 1: eight days rest. So I wonder how Murphy's going to
- 17:04Speaker 1: handle that. I'm sure they'll do something. No, he's going
- 17:05Speaker 1: to do it.
- 17:05Speaker 2: And he did this, I saw before one of the
- 17:07Speaker 2: other series, they did intra-squad games.
- 17:10Speaker 3: I think they're going to do that during the week.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, you got to, but it's still not
- 17:14Speaker 1: the same. I just hope, and I don't really, I
- 17:17Speaker 1: have no skin in the game. but I just hope
- 17:21Speaker 1: they didn't lose their edge.
- 17:24Speaker 2: Well, we'll see what happens, but yeah, eight days, a
- 17:27Speaker 2: week from now, eight days or nine days from Thursday,
- 17:32Speaker 2: it's just, it's a lot. All right, real quick in
- 17:35Speaker 2: this sort of condensed version today, how are the Giants
- 17:40Speaker 2: underdogs against the Saints tomorrow? I understood they tied against
- 17:44Speaker 2: the Commanders and it was a crappy game.
- 17:47Speaker 3: But like how? The Saints are bad this year.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Well, the Giants haven't played anybody that's been good this year. Well,
- 17:53Speaker 1: I shouldn't say that. They did. They played the Rams
- 17:55Speaker 1: and they lost. I was surprised, Alex, when I saw that.
- 18:00Speaker 1: One of my buddies who works for the Giants, I
- 18:02Speaker 1: was talking to him last night. He was surprised. He says,
- 18:05Speaker 1: how can we be underdog? I said, well, I don't know.
- 18:09Speaker 1: I guess they're trying to, Vegas is trying to manipulate
- 18:14Speaker 1: the betting system. The money coming in, I really don't know.
- 18:17Speaker 1: I think the Giants will win tomorrow. It's going to
- 18:23Speaker 1: be another tight, you know, it's going to be another
- 18:24Speaker 1: close game, Alex. The travesty at the end of that
- 18:27Speaker 1: game for Washington last week, I mean, not, and again,
- 18:34Speaker 1: that doesn't guarantee him victory. The 43-yard or 42-yard field
- 18:39Speaker 1: goal can still be missed. Could have been blocked. But
- 18:42Speaker 1: the fact that they went from 55 seconds and didn't
- 18:46Speaker 1: get the kickoff or just as ridiculous that that happened
- 18:52Speaker 1: in this day and age. News about a half hour ago,
- 18:58Speaker 1: 45 minutes ago, Jalen Hurts is on the IR with
- 19:01Speaker 1: a blood clot. So he's going to miss the next
- 19:03Speaker 1: four games.
- 19:04Speaker 2: And look, football aside, I'm actually very concerned with him
- 19:06Speaker 2: because a blood clot is something you don't want.
- 19:08Speaker 1: To screw around with.
- 19:09Speaker 2: So believe me, you're a fan that's happy about this
- 19:12Speaker 2: has really doesn't understand it.
- 19:13Speaker 3: Like a blood clot could be fatal. So we got
- 19:16Speaker 3: to pray for him a little bit here.
- 19:17Speaker 1: A member of my family died of a misdiagnosed blood clot.
- 19:21Speaker 1: He died in one day because they misdiagnosed it. So, yes, it's, it's,
- 19:29Speaker 1: it's big news, but it, The Eagles are in trouble.
- 19:32Speaker 1: They have a ton of injuries. No Barkley. Barkley's backup,
- 19:35Speaker 1: Will Shipley from Clemson, he's out for a long time.
- 19:39Speaker 1: Donta Smith, I don't know when he's coming back. They
- 19:41Speaker 1: have so many injuries. They might be done. And it's
- 19:45Speaker 1: not because of Sirianni. Sirianni now, I mean, last week, Sirianni.
- 19:50Speaker 1: should have got them to the finish line and not
- 19:52Speaker 1: allowed a 59-yard field goal. Yeah, that was wild. Yeah,
- 19:59Speaker 1: that was wild. And the week before against the Rams,
- 20:02Speaker 1: Sirianni should have been able to guide them home, even
- 20:04Speaker 1: with the injuries, because they were up 10. But as
- 20:07Speaker 1: I told you in the past, the NFC East is
- 20:09Speaker 1: wide open. It's wide open for any of the four
- 20:11Speaker 1: teams to get in.
- 20:12Speaker 3: Yep.
- 20:13Speaker 2: Well, the Giants are in first with 3-1-1. And by
- 20:17Speaker 2: the way, can we stop the London weekly games? I
- 20:20Speaker 2: get once or twice a year, but almost every week
- 20:23Speaker 2: now it's getting out of control.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Well, Alex, it's going to be 16 eventually. It's going
- 20:29Speaker 1: to be 16. I totally agree with you on the
- 20:32Speaker 1: international comments you just made. I saw that, um, yeah,
- 20:39Speaker 1: the NFL might be, uh, might be biting off more
- 20:42Speaker 1: than they can chew. Not so much. They get their money, but,
- 20:45Speaker 1: and I don't know if they care about ratings, but
- 20:48Speaker 1: the nine, these nine 30 games are cutting into the
- 20:52Speaker 1: pregame shows, which usually got higher ratings.
- 20:55Speaker 2: And, uh, they're also cutting into soccer for some, uh,
- 21:00Speaker 2: Wake up that early.
- 21:01Speaker 3: I mean, bars are open in the city for soccer strictly.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Oh, my God. There's so many soccer bars in the metropolitan,
- 21:07Speaker 1: especially in Manhattan and in the metropolitan area. Yeah, so
- 21:13Speaker 1: another interesting day. I'm interested to see if the Chargers
- 21:18Speaker 1: continue to lose, which I think they will. Their roster
- 21:24Speaker 1: is not as good as it was last year or
- 21:25Speaker 1: the year before. Just wondering. if Jim Harbaugh and the
- 21:32Speaker 1: Chargers would separate. I don't know. I haven't heard anything.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Just curious.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Well, I always say the Herbert Harbaugh dynamic. I always
- 21:42Speaker 2: thought that could have something, but it just does not.
- 21:44Speaker 2: Speaking of Harbaugh, do you think he watches his Michigan
- 21:48Speaker 2: team play?
- 21:49Speaker 3: I wonder if these guys.
- 21:49Speaker 2: Who formerly coached in the college level flip on the
- 21:52Speaker 2: game during their Saturdays or if they're focused on their game.
- 21:55Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 21:56Speaker 1: He might be, but he's probably focusing more on The
- 21:59Speaker 1: game with the Chiefs tomorrow, and obviously that's going to
- 22:01Speaker 1: be a tough game for them. But no, you're right.
- 22:05Speaker 1: They probably look at them. The players definitely do at
- 22:08Speaker 1: their old college team.
- 22:12Speaker 2: It's funny, the Raiders, I was not really in tune
- 22:15Speaker 2: with the NFL as much as I normally am last week,
- 22:18Speaker 2: but I know that the Raiders lost the Chiefs. The
- 22:20Speaker 2: Chiefs look like they're back is the point. The Chiefs
- 22:22Speaker 2: are back. They didn't miss a stride. Maybe last year
- 22:27Speaker 2: was just a little bit of an off year, but
- 22:28Speaker 2: this year they're... That's all it was.
- 22:31Speaker 3: Full force. So we could run into an Alan Mahomes
- 22:34Speaker 3: rematch again. We'll have to see.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Oh, I think you're right.
- 22:38Speaker 2: Hey, you know, in some hockey news, I got a shout-out.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Molly Walker reposted me. I mean, how cool was that?
- 22:44Speaker 2: I simply tagged her because finally, Mr. Lafayette is earning
- 22:48Speaker 2: his seven-year contract and seven, eight goals, but the 6-0...
- 22:55Speaker 2: Loss of the Devils.
- 22:56Speaker 3: Okay, it's one loss.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Sullivan, who I think is a great coach, and that's
- 23:00Speaker 2: why he's making all these things happen. He's got to
- 23:03Speaker 2: sort of calm it down and say, okay, let's not
- 23:04Speaker 2: let this turn into an avalanche.
- 23:07Speaker 3: Because look, they don't have Igor. So maybe Ranger fans
- 23:09Speaker 3: are like, oh my God, they got shut out 6-0.
- 23:11Speaker 1: It was 7-1. Or 7-1, but still. They were losing
- 23:13Speaker 1: 6-0 and they ended up losing 7-1. Again, I still
- 23:15Speaker 1: can't figure out what's going to happen with the Rangers.
- 23:23Speaker 1: It's still too early since the Shostakovich injury. We'll have
- 23:30Speaker 1: to watch. But I can tell you one thing, and
- 23:33Speaker 1: it's something we talked about in the past. Watch the
- 23:37Speaker 1: Sheldon Keefe situation. I really, I don't know if he's
- 23:41Speaker 1: going to make it past American Thanksgiving. Here the Devils
- 23:44Speaker 1: had their best game of the season, murdering the Rangers
- 23:47Speaker 1: the other night. They played today. And really, nondescript 42
- 23:54Speaker 1: loss to the, to the capitals. Um, they, they have
- 24:00Speaker 1: a lot of talent, Alex, maybe some of that, they're
- 24:03Speaker 1: not getting the most out of that talent, you know,
- 24:05Speaker 1: team up. That guy's gotta be a 35 goal scorer and,
- 24:10Speaker 1: and a difference maker. Um, I think that the devils have,
- 24:16Speaker 1: are in a little trouble. I really do. Their goaltending
- 24:19Speaker 1: is questionable. Um, You've got the Hughes brothers. Yes, Luke
- 24:26Speaker 1: is signed for eight years. But again, they might say,
- 24:31Speaker 1: you know what? Get me out of here. I don't
- 24:33Speaker 1: think so, but something's missing. And now we're three years
- 24:39Speaker 1: removed from that upset of the Rangers when the Rangers
- 24:43Speaker 1: blew that 2-0 lead.
- 24:44Speaker 3: Oh, I remember very well.
- 24:47Speaker 1: And that's when it looked like the Devils were going
- 24:49Speaker 1: to really take off. And they've been in neutral since
- 24:54Speaker 1: then or reverse. So keep an eye on the devil situation.
- 25:00Speaker 1: I know in this metropolitan area, the media doesn't focus
- 25:03Speaker 1: on them. They really don't focus on any of the
- 25:05Speaker 1: hockey teams, which is unfortunate. That's why we'll talk about it, Alex.
- 25:09Speaker 3: Right.
- 25:11Speaker 1: But watch that. Watch the devil situation. New general managers. Hey,
- 25:16Speaker 1: I got to get Sheldon Keefe out of here. Who
- 25:18Speaker 1: would they bring in? I don't know. I don't know.
- 25:22Speaker 1: But look at the Flyers. Nine games without a win.
- 25:26Speaker 1: They haven't won a game. The Kings haven't won a
- 25:28Speaker 1: game either, but they've only played five games. They're not
- 25:31Speaker 1: going to get rid of Taka after he did such
- 25:33Speaker 1: a good job last year, I don't think. But we
- 25:35Speaker 1: know how these hockey coaches get fired so quickly. The
- 25:40Speaker 1: only league where coaches get fired quicker is the Premier
- 25:43Speaker 1: League in England, the soccer league.
- 25:47Speaker 3: I mean, look, he brought them back. Oh, my goodness.
- 25:53Speaker 3: Brooksie's rival. Tortorella.
- 25:55Speaker 1: He brought Tortorella.
- 25:56Speaker 4: Yes.
- 25:57Speaker 3: He brought Vegas all the way. And then he gets fired.
- 25:59Speaker 1: I don't understand. Again, there must have been a reason
- 26:03Speaker 1: for that because he only signed a deal through the
- 26:06Speaker 1: end of the playoffs. Unlike, say, Pete DeBoer, the Islanders,
- 26:11Speaker 1: who signed a multi-year deal, even though he only coached
- 26:14Speaker 1: the last four games. The Islanders, Alex, they don't have
- 26:21Speaker 1: enough speed, in my opinion, especially on the back. The
- 26:25Speaker 1: only guy on the back line who has any type
- 26:28Speaker 1: of speed, well, not any type of speed, the guy
- 26:30Speaker 1: as fast as could be on skates is Schaefer, and
- 26:35Speaker 1: Tony D'Angelo is a good skater, but Pellick and Pulak,
- 26:42Speaker 1: they play well together, but the NHL is becoming a
- 26:45Speaker 1: speed league. I wouldn't be surprised to see Matthew George
- 26:50Speaker 1: make a major move in season. I don't think the
- 26:54Speaker 1: Islanders are making the playoffs.
- 26:56Speaker 2: Well, I got a couple of minutes here before I
- 26:58Speaker 2: got to wrap, but I got to.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Say the.
- 27:03Speaker 3: Rangers has given the city a little.
- 27:06Speaker 2: Life right now after what happened with the dart injury,
- 27:10Speaker 2: the Yanks getting knocked out, but There is three days
- 27:13Speaker 2: left till the banner raising on Tuesday night when I
- 27:18Speaker 2: turn 35. I don't know where I'll be, but I'm
- 27:21Speaker 2: excited to see it no matter where I'm at because
- 27:24Speaker 2: it's history. The Knicks are raising a banner in my lifetime.
- 27:27Speaker 2: I never thought I'd say that.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Well, that's a great birthday present, Alex, and happy birthday.
- 27:33Speaker 1: Let me be the first to wish you happy birthday
- 27:35Speaker 1: on the one leg of Alex Garrett Media. You deserve it. Uh,
- 27:42Speaker 1: enjoy the day. And there's milestone birthday. We're not going to,
- 27:45Speaker 1: I'm not going to tell you what it is. You can,
- 27:47Speaker 1: if you want, but it's a milestone birthday.
- 27:49Speaker 2: It's 35 and, uh, five-year cycles, Milwaukee bucks one in 21.
- 27:54Speaker 2: Maybe the Brewers in 25 and 26. Oh yeah. Hey,
- 27:58Speaker 2: one last note. It's being a basketball. I saw your buddy,
- 28:02Speaker 2: Chris Carino's in Georgia. Is he calling the game on
- 28:05Speaker 2: radio or TV today?
- 28:06Speaker 1: Oh, he's calling the game on radio.
- 28:08Speaker 3: Oh, Very cool.
- 28:10Speaker 2: I'm sure he'll be doing Brooklyn Nets Bowl. And look,
- 28:12Speaker 2: the Nets are going to be something to look at
- 28:13Speaker 2: now with Julius Randle in town. They got some pieces there.
- 28:18Speaker 1: Yeah, but this is year one because they tanked the
- 28:22Speaker 1: last two years. You know how I feel about tanking.
- 28:24Speaker 1: But this is the year when they're going to try
- 28:27Speaker 1: to figure out with these young guys who stays, who goes.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Does Julius Randle, because he only has one year left
- 28:35Speaker 1: on his deal, is he traded at the trade deadline?
- 28:40Speaker 1: but they've got to start winning games, and they're well-coached,
- 28:44Speaker 1: and at least there'll be a little bit of interest
- 28:48Speaker 1: in looking at them. It's going to be interesting to
- 28:51Speaker 1: see how the NBA regular season plays out, especially now
- 28:55Speaker 1: they put some of these new anti-tanking rules in. So
- 28:59Speaker 1: we'll see.
- 29:00Speaker 2: And I know who's going to be the first in
- 29:02Speaker 2: line to get tickets to an NBA Cup game. It's
- 29:04Speaker 2: going to be Lou Termello. He's the biggest fan of
- 29:05Speaker 2: the NBA Cup. Well, again, if they want to, and
- 29:10Speaker 2: I said this before. I believe they're raising two banners.
- 29:12Speaker 2: I think they're raising an NBA Cup banner as well
- 29:14Speaker 2: on Tuesday.
- 29:15Speaker 1: Oh, so they changed their mind?
- 29:17Speaker 3: I could be wrong on that, but I don't know.
- 29:18Speaker 1: They said they would not raise a Cup banner. Maybe
- 29:21Speaker 1: they will. But if they want to make the NBA
- 29:26Speaker 1: Cup somewhat legitimate... I would do it over condensed, over
- 29:31Speaker 1: a two-week period. You know, you play a group play,
- 29:34Speaker 1: then you play the semifinals and finals. Do it over
- 29:37Speaker 1: a two-week period and get it over with. But now, oh,
- 29:41Speaker 1: is tonight, oh, tonight's a game that's in, is a group,
- 29:46Speaker 1: is a group game play for the Cup. Just had
- 29:48Speaker 1: it like on a Wednesday night, you know.
- 29:50Speaker 3: And all we know about it is through the court change, okay,
- 29:52Speaker 3: that's how I know.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Yeah, right, that's right. So, I mean, if they condensed
- 29:56Speaker 1: it into a solid two-week, two-and-a-half-week period, I think there
- 30:00Speaker 1: would be some interest, again.
- 30:02Speaker 2: Well, Lou Terminello, I know we go a little longer,
- 30:04Speaker 2: but tonight I've got to run, do some family stuff.
- 30:06Speaker 2: But always love having you. Love your take on the
- 30:09Speaker 2: Dodgers and that ownership story.
- 30:10Speaker 1: We've got to follow that. Yeah, well, now that the
- 30:12Speaker 1: season's over, that's going to start coming to fruition.
- 30:17Speaker 3: Where there's smoke, there's fire.
- 30:18Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely. And we'll see what happens in football this weekend,
- 30:24Speaker 1: see how many guys get hurt.
- 30:26Speaker 2: Caleb Wolfe is back for my dad's Bears, who did
- 30:28Speaker 2: not win against the Packers, but we'll.
- 30:30Speaker 3: Have to see.
- 30:31Speaker 2: All right, Lou Terminello, always a pleasure.
- 30:33Speaker 3: We'll do this again, maybe even before next Saturday. I
- 30:35Speaker 3: want to get some NFL recap with you.
- 30:37Speaker 1: Okay, buddy. Thank you so much for having me.
