Latest / Bible Chat Devotional / April 29 - Wisdom That Lasts
Transcript
- 0:02Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
- 0:06rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, April 29th.
- 0:11Wisdom that lasts. A lot of things look valuable
- 0:14until you realize they cannot last.
- 0:17Money can be lost. Popularity can shift.
- 0:20Achievements can fade. Approval can disappear
- 0:22overnight. Psalm 49, verses 5 to 6 asks why
- 0:27we should fear in times of trouble when others trust in
- 0:29wealth and boast in riches. It reminds us that wealth cannot
- 0:33save the soul. It was never meant to.
- 0:37Proverbs chapter 15, verses 5 to 6, points us toward a better
- 0:41treasure. It says that wise lips spread
- 0:43knowledge and that in the House of the righteous there is much
- 0:46treasure. That treasure is not only
- 0:49material, it is the richness of a life shaped by God, wisdom,
- 0:53peace, integrity, love, and faithfulness.
- 0:57Romans chapter 14 verse 17 says the Kingdom of God is not a
- 1:01matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness and peace
- 1:04and joy in the Holy Spirit. That is what lasts, Not image,
- 1:09not status, not the temporary things we use to measure
- 1:13ourselves against others. God's Kingdom is marked by
- 1:16righteousness, peace and joy. So ask yourself today, what am I
- 1:20building my life around? What do I think I need in order
- 1:24to be OK? If your worth is tied to
- 1:26success, attention, or possessions, your heart will
- 1:29always feel unstable. But if your life is rooted in
- 1:33Christ, you can experience a treasure that circumstances
- 1:36cannot steal. Wisdom that lasts teaches us to
- 1:39value what heaven values. Speak truth, seek peace, walk in
- 1:44righteousness. Let joy come from the Holy
- 1:46Spirit, not from temporary applause.
- 1:49The world offers treasures that fade.
- 1:51God forms treasure within you that lasts.
- 1:53Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for
- 1:57showing me what truly matters. Help me stop chasing temporary
- 2:00things as if they can satisfy my soul.
- 2:03Teach me to value righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy
- 2:06Spirit. Fill my life with wisdom that
- 2:09lasts and let my heart find its treasure in you.
- 2:12In Jesus name, Amen. What if you could rise up and
- 2:17declare with full spiritual authority, I shall not die but

- 3:19Proverbs chapter 15 verses 5 to 6 World English Bible.
- 3:24A fool despises his Father's correction, but he who heeds
- 3:27reproof shows prudence. In the House of the righteous is
- 3:31much treasure, but the income of the wicked brings trouble.
- 3:34Psalm Chapter 49 World English Bible for the chief musician.
- 3:40A Psalm by the sons of Korra. Hear this all you peoples,
- 3:44listen, all you inhabitants of the world, both low and high,
- 3:47rich and poor, together. My mouth will speak words of
- 3:51wisdom, My heart will utter understanding.
- 3:54I will incline my ear to a proverb.
- 3:56I will solve my Riddle on the harp.
- 3:58Why should I fear in the days of evil, when iniquity at my heels
- 4:02surrounds me, Those who trust in their wealth and boast in the
- 4:06multitude of their riches, none of them can by any means redeem
- 4:09his brother, nor give God a ransom for him, for the
- 4:13redemption of their life is costly.
- 4:16No payment is ever enough. That he should live on forever,
- 4:19that he should not see corruption, For he sees that
- 4:23wise men die likewise the fool and the senseless parish, and
- 4:26leave their wealth to others. Their inward thought is that
- 4:30their houses will endure forever, and their dwelling
- 4:33places to all generations. They name their lands after
- 4:36themselves. But man, despite his riches,
- 4:39doesn't endure. He is like the animals that
- 4:42perish. This is the destiny of those who
- 4:45are foolish and of those who approve their sayings.
- 4:48Selah. They are appointed as a flock.
- 4:50For she, all death shall be their shepherd.
- 4:53The upright shall have dominion over them in the morning their
- 4:57beauty shall decay in Sheol far from their mansion.
- 5:01But God will redeem my soul from the power of Sheol, for he will
- 5:04receive me. Selah.
- 5:06Don't be afraid when a man is made rich, when the glory of his
- 5:09house is increased. For when he died he will carry
- 5:12nothing away. His glory won't descend after
- 5:15him, though while he lived he blessed his soul.
- 5:19And men praise you when you do well for yourself.
- 5:21He shall go to the generation of his Father's.
- 5:24They shall never see the light. A man who has riches without
- 5:28understanding is like the animals that perish.
- 5:31Romans Chapter 14 World English Bible Now accept one who is weak
- 5:36in faith, but not for disputes over opinions.
- 5:39One man has faith to eat all things, but he who is weak eats
- 5:43only vegetables. Don't let him who eats despise
- 5:46him who doesn't eat. Don't let him who doesn't eat
- 5:49judge him who eats, for God has accepted him.
- 5:52Who are you who judge another servant?
- 5:55To his own Lord he stands or falls.
- 5:58Yes, he will be made to stand, for God has power to make him
- 6:01stand. One man esteems one day as more
- 6:04important, another esteems every day alike.
- 6:07Let each man be fully assured in his own mind.
- 6:11He who observes the day observes it to the Lord, and he who does
- 6:14not observe the day to the Lord, he does not observe it.
- 6:18He who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks.
- 6:22He who doesn't eat to the Lord, he doesn't eat and gives God
- 6:25thanks. For none of us lives to himself,
- 6:27and none dies to himself. For if we live, we live to the
- 6:30Lord, or if we die, we die to the Lord.
- 6:34If therefore we live or die, we are the Lords.
- 6:37For to this end Christ died, rose, and lived again, that he
- 6:40might be Lord of both the dead and the living.
- 6:43But you, why do you judge your brother or you?
- 6:46Again, why do you despise your brother?
- 6:48For we will all stand before the judgement seat of Christ.
- 6:51For it is written as I live, says the Lord to me.
- 6:54Every knee will bow, every tongue will confess to God, so
- 6:59then each one of us will give account of himself to God.
- 7:03Therefore let's not judge one another anymore, but judge this
- 7:06rather that no man put a stumbling block in his brother's
- 7:09way or an occasion for falling. I know and am persuaded in the
- 7:14Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean of itself, except that
- 7:18to him who considers anything to be unclean, to him it is
- 7:21unclean. Yet if because of food your
- 7:24brother is grieved, you walk no longer in love, don't destroy
- 7:28with your food him for whom Christ died, then don't let your
- 7:32good be slandered. For God's Kingdom is not eating
- 7:35and drinking, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy
- 7:38Spirit. For he who serves Christ in
- 7:41these things is acceptable to God and approved by men.
- 7:45So then let's follow after things which make for peace and
- 7:48things by which we may build one another up.
- 7:52Don't overthrow God's work for food's sake.
- 7:55All things indeed are clean. However, it is evil for that man
- 7:58who creates A stumbling block by eating.
- 8:01It is good to not eat meat, drink wine, nor do anything by
- 8:04which your brother stumbles, is offended, or is made weak.
- 8:08Do you have faith? Have it to yourself before God.
- 8:12Happy is he who doesn't judge himself in that which he
- 8:14approves, but he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because it
- 8:18isn't of faith, and whatever is not of faith is sin.
- 8:22Now to him who is able to establish you according to my
- 8:25good news and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the
- 8:29revelation of the mystery which has been kept secret through
- 8:32long ages, but now is revealed. And by the Scriptures of the
- 8:37prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal God
- 8:40is made known for obedience of faith to all the nations, to the
- 8:44only wise God through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory
- 8:48forever. Amen.
