- 0:00Have you ever read the stories of the Old Testament, like the parting of the Red Sea, or of Moses and the burning bush, and then looked at your own quiet modern life and wondered, why did God stop talking

- 0:54Ordinary Women Extraordinary Faith When God calls, we say yes.
- 1:01The Arise Women of God Podcast hello and welcome to another episode of the Arise Women of God Podcast.
- 1:08I'm your host, Tamara K.
- 1:09Anderson, and joining me today is Wendy Christensen, my co founder of Women warriors of Light and a licensed social worker.
- 1:17And today we are exploring why it feels like the signal from heaven has gone faint.
- 1:24First, we're going to examine a Bible verse in Hebrews that teaches us a powerful principle.
- 1:29Second, Wendy is going to talk about the epidemic of loneliness and why our phones are acting like signal jammers for our souls.
- 1:38Third, we're going to explore nature as an unlimited broadcasting station and how a single breath can shift your frequency.
- 1:48And finally, we'll talk about the messy connection, because let's be honest, that's where most of us live, why God can meet us in the shower, in the car, and how the Holy Ghost is a real tangible tool for
- 2:01the modern woman.
- 2:02But first, let's kick it off with a powerful Bible verse in Hebrews, chapter one, verses one and two.
- 2:10It says in the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times in various ways.
- 2:16But in these last days he has spoken to us by His Son.
- 2:20And so I love that we're kind of learning the principle that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and that he spoke to us anciently in the Old Testament, in the New Testament, and He can speak to
- 2:31us today.
- 2:32If he is the same today as he was anciently, then the problem isn't the transmitter, it's the receiver.
- 2:40And Wendy's going to talk about how she's noticed this in our modern world, especially in her role as a counselor, that we are literally dealing with an epidemic that is blocking our ability to hear well, you think about.
- 2:57We have an.
- 2:57We have a epidemic going across the world today.
- 3:01And even the general health surgeon of the United States has declared it an epidemic.
- 3:06And now the World Health Organization has declared it an epidemic.
- 3:09And it's loneliness.
- 3:11And why is that?
- 3:13Well, a lot of it's because of phones, right?
- 3:18Um, technology.
- 3:20We are, it's like God is still broadcasting out there, but we've just lost the antennas to the noise of technology.
- 3:28We have so much buzzing and going on and happening out in the world today that it just makes it more difficult, I think, to see it.
- 3:36We have to be able to, as the Bible says, have eyes to hear, eyes to see and ears to hear.
- 3:42And sometimes we don't have that because we're so distract.
- 3:45We're distracted, we're busy.
- 3:46There's so many other things that are buying for our time and attention that we don't have the time maybe to stop unless we're being intentional and notice how God is talking to us still and how he is seeing
- 3:58us still.
- 3:59Oh my goodness, you guys, we are so distracted, aren't we?
- 4:02But the antidote isn't necessarily a week long silent retreat.
- 4:07It can be as simple as looking out the window and taking an intentional breath.
- 4:12In fact, there's a quote clear back was an American scientist and inventor, George Washington Carver, different than the George Washington, but he said a quote.
- 4:22I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station through which God speaks to us every hour.
- 4:29And I think what he's saying there is even just getting out in nature, right?
- 4:33Getting some quiet time, some downtime places where we can tune in our antenna a little bit better to God, I think, allows us to see that he is still talking to us and that he can continue talking to
- 4:46us if we can just tune into it a little bit more.
- 4:49So what does that mean?
- 4:50It means sometimes putting your phone down.
- 4:52It means getting out into nature a little bit more.
- 4:55It means having some more quiet time and downtime.
- 4:59Maybe sitting and meditating for a minute or two of just quiet.
- 5:02I know our brains are so busy they don't want to shut down because there's like the to do list as soon as you think quiet time.
- 5:08But it's not hard to just take a breath.
- 5:12Like if you just take a good deep breath in through your nose and then exhale it out.
- 5:19Even with one breath, I already feel a shift.
- 5:22And we just don't do that enough.
- 5:24And I think if we can just pause for a minute every single day, whether that's through prayer.
- 5:30Prayer can be a pause.
- 5:32Reading a scripture can be a pause.
- 5:34Having a wonderful conversation with a loved one can be a pause that we will hear God speaking a lot more than we think.
- 5:42He's around us all the time, speaking.
- 5:45So, my friends, God can speak to us amidst the silence of trees, but he can also speak to us amidst the chaos of our commutes.
- 5:55Wendy had a moment just this morning that proves that God has not stopped talking to people even when they're busy chasing a school bus.
- 6:04Yeah, it's going to be messy sometimes.
- 6:06You know, I prayed with my two teenage boys on the way to school today.
- 6:10We're chasing the bus, and I'm like, okay, prayer.
- 6:13Let's hurry and pray.
- 6:14It's messy.
- 6:15It's not always convenient, and it's not always the best.
- 6:17But I wanted them to remember who they were before they left my hands and went out into the world.
- 6:27I'm like you are.
- 6:28You are men of God, and he loves you.
- 6:32And we are praying for protection for you, because I'm sending you out.
- 6:35And it's in the.
- 6:36I don't care if it's in the car.
- 6:37Turn the radio down, take your hats off, and let's pray it got done.
- 6:41Because I want them to go out knowing and understanding who they are as I send them out into that crazy, crazy world.
- 6:48Because.
- 6:49Because until they can come back into my arms at night and I can wrap them around them and help them to feel loved, I need them to feel God's love during the day that he's with them.
- 6:59Oh.
- 6:59It does not have to be perfect to be powerful.
- 7:03And that connection is made possible by a very real gift that Jesus promised would never leave us.
- 7:10That the gift of the Holy Ghost is a real, tangible thing.
- 7:13It is not a myth.
- 7:14It is the voice of heaven available to every man and woman on earth today to help us, to know when God is speaking to us and to hear it.
- 7:25Yeah.
- 7:26So it's a good quote.
- 7:28We can pray for God's spirit, that Holy Ghost, to be with and abide with us, just as Jesus promised he would send the comforter.
- 7:37He can and he will, and he does.
- 7:40So, my friends, God has not stopped talking to his children.
- 7:44He is just waiting for us to turn down the volume so we can hear the whisper of his spirit.
- 7:50Whether it's in a quiet moment in nature or a frantic prayer in the car, God is ready to connect with you.
- 7:58And if you're ready to reclaim that connection and learn the language of the spirit in your own life, we have tools that can help you figure this out.
- 8:07You can download our Roadmap to Revelation, six Steps to Hearing God in your Life.
- 8:11It's a PDF along with our Receiving Light and Revelation Meditation.
- 8:17It's a free audio MP3 and you can get the bundle of those two powerful resources free at the link below.
- 8:25So, my friend, I invite you to turn off the noise today for five minutes and just listen.
- 8:31Perhaps go stand in the grass or take a moment to breathe and until next time, may you arise.
- 8:37Do it God's way, God strong.
