- Jaba: Hello everybody and welcome back to the Scout and the Speculator Podcast. This is Will Jarvis doing a quick solo episode for you guys tonight. There was one singular AFL game yesterday on Sunday, and let's talk about it. it was the Seguaros facing off against the Desert Dogs. Once again, the Desert Dogs were our pick. We thought they had the most talented roster. Out in Arizona. might have been wrong to go off of Bowman only because they are now one and six. they fell to the Segueros by a score of five to four yesterday. But looking up and down the lineup, it it's a little hard to tell where the problem is coming from. Because Wyatt Sanford, one for five with a K, but He has an eight forty one OPS. Dylan Lewis went completely nuts. Three for five with a homer. pair of RBIs and a pair of strikeouts. He's OPSing nine eighty-two. Johnny Severino had a pair of singles. Chase Harlan hit another Homer. He continues to walk a ton. The batting average is down at 200, but he's OPSing 943. So as a Chase Harlan holder myself, it's nice to see him putting a jolt into some balls. I saw a video of him blasting his last home run, not the one yesterday, but the one before. It was quite impressive. It's a very nice violent swing. but yeah, Max Williams continues to struggle. One for four. He's now hitting 118 with really no slug. Isaiah Drake one for four. Easton Carmichael over four. That's a tough one for me. I have a good amount of Easton Carmichael stuff. OPSing 308 with a 154 average. Not great when you haven't notched an extra base hit yet, especially a guy who reached AA this year, former SEC bat out of Oklahoma. Maybe he got a little excited after that OU walk-off field goal against Texas on Saturday. Owen Carey, 0 for 3. OPSing 643, not the greatest. No No pitchers on the desert dog side that we really care about. Tate Southassine is finally playing, made his first appearance, 0 for 2 with a walk, got lifted early, but good to see him out there playing. Exciting player, a lot of speed. Really nice breakout year for him, so I'm excited to see him play a little bit more baseball. on the Següero side of things, Welbin Francisca just continues to go nuts. He was named the AFL Hitter of the Week for the first week yesterday. easy to see why. Three for five again in this one, doubled twice. Gives him four doubles on the short campaign, batting five fifty-six with a fifteen sixty-three OPS. Again, small sample size. We're talking about seven baseball games here. But hitting over five hundred in any sample is worth shouting out. It's impressive. You know, he hadn't really shown much power before this year. I was a bit skeptical on how real that power was, but it it's carrying right into the AFL. He's hitting balls hard. I think he's a serious name to know right now. Dante Nori 0 for four. He continues to struggle, hitting one eighteen. Did have a walk. Cole Mathis for my New York Mets, one for four with a solo home run. He hasn't been doing too great, but he was hurt. Really the entire time he was a Met this year, I think he got into some games very, very late, but he really only played maybe a half dozen games in a Mets uniform, even though he was acquired for David Peterson in mid to late June. Other than that, pretty boring day. Anjou Gomez, one for three again, didn't strike out, hitting two eighty six, not a lot of slug yet, but hitting two eighty six is a seventeen year old who hasn't been above the D S L pretty impressive to go out there and survive, honestly in my opinion. to go out there and not look overmatched. It seems like he's fitting right in. And that's a pretty scary thing. I think his prices are gonna go nuts, deservedly so. And I think at this time next year everyone's gonna be talking about him as a top five guy. I don't really think that that's a particularly hot take even at this point. I guess it depends who gets called up and who's still on the lists ahead of him, but we will see. That really wraps it up. No no interesting pitchers on either side worth discussing. Boston Barrow. Another Met O for two with two walks. So yeah, I'm going to go ahead and wrap it there. Keep it nice and brief and Jeremy and I will both be back Tomorrow to wrap up a full slate of AFL baseball and get into some AFL price checks and a few other episodes. It's a great content week coming on. We got Big Bob coming on Wednesday to talk about Bow Mania. We're probably gonna film a couple episodes with him. We got Dahl again on Thursday, that's been popular. We're gonna post another Inside the Mind of a Scout with Jeremy on Friday. seems like you guys really enjoyed the last one. The listening activity was great, no surprise. So yeah, thank you guys all for listening. We we really appreciate ya. It means the world to us. And I will talk to you guys next time.
