- 2:57Sunny mornings send you. In local news, the Massachusetts
- 3:03House plans to vote Wednesday and you'll override
- 3:06several of Governor Maura Healey's budget vetoes
- 3:09for the fiscal year 2026. These overrides aim
- 3:13to restore funding for nursing homes, charter
- 3:16schools, and economic development programs, which
- 3:20House leadership deems absolutely necessary.
- 3:24Among the vetoes expected to be overridden are
- 3:27$25 million for nursing home rates, nearly $20
- 3:31million in charter school reimbursements, and
- 3:34$2 million to support the state's manufacturing
- 3:37industry. House Ways and Means Chairman Aaron
- 3:41Mikowitz argued that the legislature had already
- 3:44accounted for potential revenue volatility during
- 3:48budget negotiations. Despite fiscal challenges,
- 3:52the House is prepared to increase spending in
- 3:54the state budget. Now on to sports. The Cleveland
- 4:04Browns traded quarterback Joe Flacco and a sixth
- 4:07-round pick to the Cincinnati Bengals for a fifth
- 4:10-round selection on Tuesday. The Bengals, struggling
- 4:13with a two -win and three -lost record, have
- 4:16been reeling without quarterback Joe Burrow,
- 4:19who was out with turf toe. Meanwhile, the Browns,
- 4:24with a one -win and four -lost record, opted
- 4:27for youth over Flacco, who was recently benched.
- 4:30This trade improves the Brown's draft stock while
- 4:33giving the Bengals a veteran presence in Flacco,
- 4:36who is expected to help until Burrow returns
- 4:38in December. The trade could also pave the way
- 4:41for rookie Shadir Sanders to make his NFL debut
- 4:45in local sports. Former Boston Bruins captain
- 4:50and longtime defenseman Steno Chira expressed
- 4:53his honor after the team announced it will retire
- 4:56his number next year. The Bruins revealed that
- 4:59they will retire Chara's number 33 on January
- 5:0315th prior to their game against Seattle. Chara
- 5:07will become the 13th player in franchise history
- 5:10to have his number raised to the Rafters. He
- 5:13captained the Bruins to the Stanley Cup in 2011
- 5:17during his 14 -year tenure in Boston. Chara shared,
- 5:27teammates, fans, and family. Owner Jeremy Jacob
- 5:31stated, there will never be another Zdeno Chera,
- 5:35highlighting his incredible impact on the team
- 5:37and community. In top news, Kaiser Permanente
- 5:43workers plan a massive strike across California
- 5:47next week. Tens of thousands of nurses and health
- 5:51professionals in Northern California are preparing
- 5:54to strike on October 14th. in what union leaders
- 5:57say will be the largest work stoppage in the
- 6:00company's history. The United Nurses Associations
- 6:04of California and Union of Healthcare Professionals
- 6:07issued a 10 -day strike notice to Kaiser executives
- 6:10on Friday. The five -day strike is expected to
- 6:14affect more than two dozen hospitals and clinics
- 6:17across California and Hawaii. Union leaders cite
- 6:22stagnant wages and unsafe staffing levels as
- 6:25key issues. Kaiser Permanente stated it has been
- 6:30negotiating in good faith and hopes to avoid
- 6:33a strike. In business news, Bitcoin, the world's
- 6:39largest cryptocurrency, could join gold and the
- 6:43United States dollar on central banks' balance
- 6:45sheets by 2030, according to strategists at Deutsche
- 6:49Bank. Central banks hold reserve assets to manage
- 6:53exchange rates and pay off external debt. So
- 6:57far, Bitcoin has been too volatile and illiquid
- 7:01to qualify, but Deutsche Bank's Marion Labour
- 7:04and Camilla Cezanne argue that Bitcoin is now
- 7:08almost there. Bitcoin's growing liquidity, partly
- 7:12due to the United States' approval of spot Bitcoin
- 7:15exchange -traded funds in 2024, may make it more
- 7:19appealing to central banks. However, Bitcoin
- 7:23remains far from receiving approval from major
- 7:25central banks like the Federal Reserve and the
- 7:28European Central Bank. In crypto movement, Bitcoin
- 7:33is down 2 % to just under $122 ,000. Ethereum
- 7:39is down 5 % to just under $4 ,500. And XRP is
- 7:45down 4 % to $2 .86. Moving on to a more local
- 7:52vibe. In our community spotlight on health and

- 8:32Morning sent you by. And now, back to the show.
- 8:38Let's talk tech. Google's latest AI model uses
- 8:42a web browser like you do. The new Gemini 2 .5
- 8:47computer use model can click, scroll, and type
- 8:51in a browser window to access data that is not
- 8:54available via an application programming interface.
- 8:58Google is previewing this model designed to navigate
- 9:01and interact with the web, letting AI agents
- 9:04perform tasks within human -designed interfaces.
- 9:08It utilizes visual understanding and reasoning
- 9:11capabilities to analyze user requests and complete
- 9:15tasks. Gemini 2 .5 is available to developers
- 9:19through Google AI Studio and Vertex AI with a
- 9:23demo on browser base. And in entertainment news,
- 9:30Kiss of the Spider Woman is a stunning musical
- 9:34until Jennifer Lopez starts singing. The film
- 9:38showcases a good story, despite generic songs
- 9:41from John Kander and Fred Ebb, which are weakly
- 9:44performed by Lopez. Breakout star Toneja dances
- 9:49beautifully, yet Lopez's performance lacks passion.
- 9:54Directed by Bill Condon, the film dazzles with
- 9:56choreography and production design, promising
- 9:59a bright future for Toneja. Lopez resembling
- 10:04Madonna. shines as an actor and dancer, elevating
- 10:07moments with her performance. However, her singing
- 10:11fails to impress, revealing a thin voice that
- 10:14lacks the needed strength for the role. Well,
- 10:18alrighty folks, it's time for the quote of the
- 10:21day. And today, our quote comes from the British
- 10:25philosopher and mathematician, Alfred North Whitehead.
- 10:29And he said, and to preserve change amid order.
- 10:38And that's a wrap for this morning. You can check

- 10:45captivating aerial videos with local news and
