Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Spreite the flick with bedow Shade. Well, good morning, Morning,
- 0:09Speaker 1: Morning SPA Weekend.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Describe this as a chick flick. Yeah, absolutely, like it's
- 0:14Speaker 2: it's one of those films that they have, those those
- 0:16Speaker 2: you know, so called chicks at the Flicks sessions. I
- 0:19Speaker 2: guarantee you they will all be sold out this weekend
- 0:22Speaker 2: because I know pretty much every woman that I know
- 0:25Speaker 2: has circled this film SPA Weekend in their calendar for months.
- 0:29Speaker 2: You know, they see the posters, see the trailers. And
- 0:31Speaker 2: you've got Isle of Fisher, our very own Isle of Fisher,
- 0:34Speaker 2: who is one of the funniest actresses in Hollywood. She's amazing.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Leslie Man, who could forget her performance in the forty
- 0:41Speaker 2: year Old Virgin, one of the funniest scenes ever. You've
- 0:45Speaker 2: got Anna Faris, who was so big in the naughties
- 0:47Speaker 2: movies like The House Funny, so she's like kind of
- 0:49Speaker 2: comedy legend as well. Michelle Buteux, stand up comedians, extremely
- 0:56Speaker 2: funny actresses, all in this one film.
- 1:00Speaker 1: It's terrible. It's so bad.
- 1:04Speaker 2: There is no jokes, it's not funny. I did not
- 1:07Speaker 2: get one laugh out of this. Oh my goodness, So
- 1:12Speaker 2: thanks for coming along I was getting one of those.
- 1:16Speaker 2: If I was getting one of those mud mud treatments,
- 1:19Speaker 2: I'd say put it over my eyes, in my ears.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Block out this movie so I don't have to watch
- 1:23Speaker 2: any more of it. And I know people listening might
- 1:26Speaker 2: be going, oh, you're a bloke. You just don't get it.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Do you know who else didn't get it? The two
- 1:30Speaker 2: blokes who wrote and directed the film. They have no
- 1:33Speaker 2: idea about spa weekends. And so it comes from the
- 1:38Speaker 2: two fellas who wrote the Hangover. Okay, so that was
- 1:41Speaker 2: a classic comed's good. And they also directed Bad Mums
- 1:46Speaker 2: with Catherine Hahn. That was that was a curse. That
- 1:49Speaker 2: was okay. But so then they've gone but clearly what
- 1:52Speaker 2: they've done has gone, Oh, you know Hangover, you know,
- 1:54Speaker 2: boys behaving badly? That made so much money. Let's do
- 1:57Speaker 2: girls behaving badly will make heaps of money off the
- 2:00Speaker 2: chicks and and and so what what are girls into? Oh,
- 2:03Speaker 2: they're like a spiler weekend, So let's do that. And
- 2:07Speaker 2: then they've tried to justify the script by saying, oh,
- 2:10Speaker 2: we based it on, you know, on what we thought
- 2:12Speaker 2: our wives liked. Oh wow, did they ask good work?
- 2:16Speaker 2: I don't think so while it is so dumb shot
- 2:19Speaker 2: in the Gold Coast from the cart, Yeah, and so
- 2:23Speaker 2: Gold Coast is filling in for some US luxury spa resort.
- 2:27Speaker 2: These these four women are all kind of like except
- 2:30Speaker 2: for Isle of Fisher or high powered you know, sort
- 2:32Speaker 2: of executives, busy lives. They want to get away from
- 2:35Speaker 2: it all and reconnect because they've drifted apart a little
- 2:37Speaker 2: bit at a spa weekend. And then over the course
- 2:40Speaker 2: of the weekend, you know, there's high jinks, there's weird
- 2:43Speaker 2: spa treatments like yoga with goats. Maybe that's a real thing.
- 2:47Speaker 1: That it is a real thing, but it's been around
- 2:49Speaker 1: for a long time now.
- 2:50Speaker 2: There's nothing, there's nothing original.
- 2:53Speaker 1: After watching after watching the trailer, this is going as expected.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Leslie Man's characters sort of a single mum who hasn't
- 3:00Speaker 2: who hasn't had time to you know, sort of find
- 3:03Speaker 2: romance for years, given up on it basically. And then
- 3:05Speaker 2: there's a hot yoga hunk played by Adam Demos who
- 3:09Speaker 2: she ends up having a bit of a romance with.
- 3:12Speaker 2: I don't know what else to tell you. Did he
- 3:14Speaker 2: play the dumb Aussie in that other the one with
- 3:18Speaker 2: Brian Brown or anyone, but you no, no, that was
- 3:20Speaker 2: a different DUMFERENTI. The worst thing about it, The worst
- 3:24Speaker 2: thing about it is how Isle of Fisher gets treated
- 3:29Speaker 2: in terms of the script. She just doesn't get any jokes.
- 3:31Speaker 2: It's like they've said, it's like they've said, this role
- 3:34Speaker 2: was written for Rebel Wilson, but we can't. We don't
- 3:37Speaker 2: really want to cast Rebel Wilson because of the unpleasantness.
- 3:39Speaker 2: So let's get another Ossie to play rebel Wilson. And
- 3:43Speaker 2: that's you watch Isle of Fisher and you go, hang on,
- 3:45Speaker 2: this is not your style of comedy. This is this
- 3:47Speaker 2: is the sort of thing we'd see from Rebel Wilson,
- 3:49Speaker 2: a cringe worthy, over the top, much more subtle and hilarious.
- 3:54Speaker 2: And so and this is now the second film recently
- 3:56Speaker 2: where I've I've seen an Australian or a key we
- 3:59Speaker 2: cast as a Rebel Wilson character. It's like, that's just
- 4:02Speaker 2: what they expect from Australia and comedies. Now it's Wilson.
- 4:07Speaker 1: How many Namas stays are you giving Namos?
- 4:11Speaker 2: Stay at home?
- 4:13Speaker 1: Watch it one star, one star, one star, feeling generous. Okay, well,
- 4:22Speaker 1: they still flocked to see it.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, and because Spider Man is so successful, you'll
- 4:27Speaker 2: have heaps of people go to the cinema anyway for
- 4:29Speaker 2: Spider Man in the Odyssey and then spa weekend will
- 4:31Speaker 2: probably get that side business. I think it could actually
- 4:33Speaker 2: do pretty well.
- 4:34Speaker 1: For the people who couldn't get into the other two.
- 4:36Speaker 1: All right, thanks, thanks, hopefully with something better next week's
