- 0:01[SPEAKER_00]: I love you, Cleveland, and I love you, Ohio, and a very pleasant welcome to this week's version of the Big Play Cleveland Show on this Thursday.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_00]: Good to have you with us live on YouTube.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Bruce Drennan, along with Matt Fontana and Ryan Tyler and our very special guest.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: Jimmy Handlin, our resident PGA golf professional to wrap up the British Open.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: They call it the Open.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's the British Open.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_00]: Let's tell it like it is.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_00]: And I've got some years on all of you.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_00]: This was one of the most exciting British Opens ever.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: I rate the British Open at Royal Burkedale where this was staged in 1977.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_00]: When Tom Watson finished a 12 under and beat Jack Nicholas by one stroke, that was actually a turnberry.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: In 1984, Watson, who of course has been the most dominant in the British, lost by two strokes to semi-biosteros of Spain, who was crunching his fist, you probably seen it at same-and-druse, Watson bogied the road hole, unbelievable.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_00]: Watson was going for three in a row.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_00]: and he bogied that 17th and 2009 when Watson is a real man was dominating at turn bury again and Stuart sink came from behind the tie him and the only reason Watson didn't win.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_00]: He chose to shoot and chose an eight iron on his last shot and his approach shot on 18 instead of a nine when over the green and bogied force in the playoff and sink beat them.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_00]: This tournament had three guys shoot 62.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: The course was extremely difficult.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_00]: Matt and Jimmy, I, I think it's one of the best ever.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: I was, and with the smoke, I was, I watched every stroke.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I thought that because Bruce just likes abuse and major championship, I thought you're going to say John Vanderveil But that's a lap they showed that because you love to see these players collapse So I thought for sure that was going to be your number one role in his pant leg up to get down there He likes their wife is sitting there.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_02]: She's like is he doing this right now?
- 2:30[SPEAKER_01]: I when he said he was going to rank if I go all that's going to be that's gone on in here Yeah, but he stuck with the good golf, but yeah, but yeah, I met I like Bruce and I I was thoroughly entertained Throughout the whole week a lot of controversy a lot of stuff going on You know, we could do a five hour show on that video open championship this week.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was really good
- 2:50[SPEAKER_02]: You know, guys, and I think it's when we watch golf as much as we do.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_02]: There's two ways to look at it.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_02]: You like a solid stable leader board where it's like, you know, you have guys this was turn over Bryson was there.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, wait, here comes Sam Burns.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, we're going to wake up Sunday.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_02]: See what he does.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_02]: You watch.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_02]: cam young get back up their shuffler in the mix.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_02]: And then here comes Ryan Fox out of nowhere.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_02]: So when the whole thing I loved it.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_02]: I think part of that is the course you got to have it where it's tough for guys or bogey and sometimes.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_02]: But there's also holes that they even talked about in the broadcast.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_02]: They got one part of five.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_02]: You need to birdie that.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody else is almost birdie in this.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_02]: When you don't, that just changes so much of the dynamic.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_02]: You know, the fescue, I'm sure we'll talk about bracing in a little bit.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_02]: But it played it where it was just
- 3:35[SPEAKER_02]: like get down in the pot, bunker, and that's what makes the British so much fun.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: I was real happy for Ryan Fox.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_00]: He's played in a lot of majors and he went very unnoticed throughout his career here in majors.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_00]: But he birdie four of the last six holes.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: I want Jimmy to come in on a swing because it's kind of a violent swing.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: The guy takes no time whatsoever, but I'll tell you what fellas, I think he won the tournament
- 4:05[SPEAKER_00]: That was the power 3 that he put in the trap.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_00]: He had to hit the ball backwards and then got up and down for bogey Which could have been a double or a triple bogey easy and I thought to myself my goodness this guy's confidence And then look what he did on 18
- 4:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think for him, Bruce, there's not a lot of thinking going on out there, right?
- 4:26[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he gets there.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_01]: He makes his decision.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_01]: He hits the shot.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't think about what happened before.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't think about what's going to happen after.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_01]: He just gets up there and hits the golf shot.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Bruce, let's be honest, his golf swing reminds me a little bit of you.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's got some anger in there, man.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's got some firepower in there, right?
- 4:42[SPEAKER_01]: He gets that club back, and he's all, and he just, I mean, when he gets that club to the top, there's one thing he's thinking about ripping that thing down, and he just fires it, and I, let me just tell you, if you, if we put out on social media right now, how many Ryan Fox fans were there before the open championship, we'd have been lucky to get 50 people across the country, say, now the whole world fell in love with this guy.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, plays fast, you know, good dude fly in home in coach with the British open trophy up above him by the way, Kim, y'all can't sit right in front, which is so cool, right?
- 5:16[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that guy could have said, hey, upgrade me to first class.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_01]: I just won the open championship, they might have let him sit with the pilot for us.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_01]: But instead, he sits back in his window seat in coach and life was good.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_02]: and he is his background as father it was a championship rugby player in New Zealand third New Zealander Matt to win the open yeah and it was so fun to watch him because you know you mentioned about the pace of play it's what 20 they said they timed it when Sam Burns picked up his part there was in the hole they said 22 seconds later Ryan Fox's ball was in the hole like he doesn't wait I didn't want to ask you Jimmy because I saw a really funny picture of
- 5:54[SPEAKER_02]: this is everything a pro with a professional teacher would tell his foot flared wide open he bends his left elbow at the top uh i mean just you know i guess Jimmy to a point swing your swing right and it and it works pretty well for him right yeah i mean i think there's different golf swings
- 6:12[SPEAKER_01]: he needs a lot of repetition right he's a timing guy he is in a big muscle guy and he probably has to play I would get better if we had Ryan Foxon here and we said hey you if you can't touch a club for three weeks how you gonna play the next day he's gonna be like yeah it's not gonna be very good probably but again
- 6:28[SPEAKER_01]: if he works at it he hits a lot of balls you know that's just how it works and and so and it was just working at the right time right i mean working at the right time he had no he didn't even think about you watch him get over that shot on 18 bruise i think it took 7.5 seconds to pull the jacket over right and his average is like eight seconds yeah i saw a video where they showed him and can't lay
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: He hit the ball five times before he can't lay hit it while they put a video side by side He was able to hit it five times took can't lay like fifty eight seconds to get him like I mean he he's a fun guy in that 18th hole has him there was fair way of any hole at Royal Burkedale And he threaded the kneel there of waiting the bunkers a tremendous second shot didn't hesitate with the put I felt sorry guys for burns
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_00]: He shot the 62.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_00]: He seemed to be the sentimental favorite.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: We'll get to young in a minute.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: But I felt badly for burns.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a big Sam Burns fan, especially the way he handled the Bryson stuff and won on.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_01]: He played with Bryson the day after.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_01]: He handled it perfectly.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_01]: And he just, you know, he didn't avoid the question.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_01]: He's just like, listen, I grew up playing junior golf with Bryson.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_01]: I've known Bryson a long time.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_01]: I played them with the day.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_01]: he's not going to cheat and golf so you guys could say what you want a penalty not penalty whatever it wasn't on purpose he he he he he he he he I didn't even know this guy for a year I've known him for 10 to 15 years right a bit around this guy a lot and I and I love that he was willing to stand up for him when you had guys on the golf channel and everybody else just bashing him right and we'll get in and I'm sure to do the Bryson stuff but good for Sam burns I'm a huge Sam burns fan
- 8:08[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I was talking me on, but I think Sam Burns is unequivocally in this conversation.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_02]: It's not if it's just when he's going to win a championship like, and I know just even from a betting cocktail.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Shinakaki was right there.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_02]: I think you know, playing in his tournament, Jimmy, I can imagine there's experience on how to handle things and the emotion and things that go into that.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_02]: but he's somebody just even from a betting standpoint that I know buddies they go it doesn't matter the major I'm going to put a little on Sam Burns because it's going to hit eventually same thing with Cam Young and some people think that about Ludwig Oberberg will see kind of how that goes but just the the resume builder and I think it's even in a broader sense of things guys right there the live stuff that we know is kind of gone there were so many people worried about that next generation of golfers without Tiger without Phil without the big names and I
- 8:58[SPEAKER_02]: They're there.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_02]: They've got them.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_02]: They're there.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_02]: And there's somebody to be able to take it up.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_02]: And I think Sam Burns going to be somebody has a lot of success on the golf course.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: I think Burns and younger went before.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: I read it because it was a young.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_00]: Has got to be he's going to have nightmares for the rest of his life.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: Because of the fabulous round that he shot on Sunday.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: and then he broke 18 and he knew it when he broke 18 I think he knew that he needed that birdie or he needed a power to just go into the clubhouse but he broke he said now think of the roller coaster ride he had for what was it two and a half three hours three hours he waited you know it didn't look good then he had the lead then he didn't then he did it was just incredible
- 9:50[SPEAKER_01]: I thought the coverage was terrible too.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_01]: Like, how do you not show Sam Burns watching him or waiting to find out?
- 9:57[SPEAKER_01]: And like, they showed him on a range real quick a little bit.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_01]: But like, my reaction was I want to see Sam Burns when Fox is hitting this pot.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I want to see him.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I want to see him.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_01]: I'm getting a million.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_01]: You're sitting this pot and and I just thought I thought the coverage was terrible there and from that standpoint, but yeah, I mean, can be, but he's going to be there.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_01]: They, this guy.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: And I at first I thought he got hot for a while bruise because he got really hot like a year or so goes just killing it and then I'm like Yeah, that's a guy that gets hot.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_01]: He's going away a little bit, but man.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: He just he's a very religious man.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I didn't see him wearing a cross goes to mass every something.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, he does.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, and I didn't know about his dad.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_02]: His dad was a PGA teaching professional or our head pro at a club and and he's out there in the range of keys to swing coach and he's helping him.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_02]: So he's really kind of growing up with him.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_02]: You know, you talk about swings because there's a lot of people with cam that he's got that pause at the top
- 10:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the slow take away, you know, and I do think that's the interesting thing is you look across.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_02]: There's a lot of guys playing a lot of different Special aviation smash.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they have that positive hesitation.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, I think it's good.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's good and I but it can't be forced Bruce, right?
- 10:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like when it gets back there if it's if they practice it, it's their natural golf swing and they can stop It gives them time to allow their arms to get down and not come over to top and not open up too quick But if you force it my son Palmer was trying to do it because he sees cam young head that
- 11:13[SPEAKER_01]: and it was forced and he hit it all over the map right you've got to really be disciplined that's got a lot of balls oh my goodness all right you know major league baseball's had him for a long time i don't know right i yeah the story behind that yeah spots and he's been sponsored by major league baseball i think that's a really cool story yeah they've had him for a while well let's talk about chefler who um by his standards has not had a good year but
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: because after the way he finished last year with two majors, we all anticipated at least one.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: If he gets to, hey, there's a chance, maybe he can get to that Gary players 11, 12 range.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_00]: No, nobody's got to catch Tiger Jack.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_00]: At least right now, it doesn't appear like that.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_00]: So, but he just, what is it, Jimmy?
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: Isn't his potter?
- 11:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's his potter.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, there's zero question in my mind.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_01]: You know Scottie Schaffler's finish to the top 10, 10 on the last 12 major championships.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: 10 out of 12 times he's been in the mix to have a chance to win in the last 12 and obviously he's won a few.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_01]: at the end of the day, he gets very tentative with that putter bruise.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_01]: If you watch the putts, he misses.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_01]: They're always low in in front of the hole.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_01]: He gets, he doesn't, he kind of come up, that comes up out of putts a little bit under pressure when he wants to make them, and he just doesn't make enough putts because man, oh man, does he hit it good?
- 12:33[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's just incredible.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_01]: But he does, and then when he starts missing, pods he starts pressing, and that driver will start getting a little bit crumbling, and that's, that's what happens.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_01]: But, but I will tell you, I, before we get on to the other stuff, I have no idea how they give him a time.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_01]: I was gonna ask you about that.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_01]: I want that, so I was gonna go.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_02]: Matt, you start because I'm so for those that don't know.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_03]: I don't remember what hole it was 17 17.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, and he's on this mound.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, you cannot see anything but this hill you Line shot, he's standing there.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_02]: Line shot.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_02]: He hits it so far left.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_02]: It's over the patrons over the hospitality tent and into the far side rough
- 13:15[SPEAKER_02]: and they can't find it, they cannot find the ball.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_02]: They somehow give him relief because of the hospitality tent and the grandstand or the grandstand or the grandstand, not even hospitality is grandstand.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_02]: And he hit another one that he hit left almost into the bands again.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_02]: But it was in front of it at least that time.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_02]: And I remember even watching that shot where he was floored because he thought it was going to go right on the uphill and it didn't.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_02]: He just hooked it left.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_02]: And Jimmy, they didn't even find the ball.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_02]: Well, they did.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_00]: They did eventually, but he actually said, don't even stop looking for it.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_00]: He actually said, I don't want to look for it.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_00]: Now the stuff that he, it behind the grandstand, he honestly,
- 13:59[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you can't tell my camera shot.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_00]: It was at least to your waist.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_00]: It was from your feet to his waist is what he hit into I don't know how they found the ball, but Jimmy rules wise.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_00]: How can they do that?
- 14:12[SPEAKER_01]: I've never heard like I didn't think they found the ball either and then he birdy
- 14:15[SPEAKER_01]: by the way.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I did.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_01]: I'll be honest with you.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_01]: I actually text my son and a couple other people and I go, Scottie's done.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_01]: And then I turn around and he's won back.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, what just happened?
- 14:24[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I mean, I didn't even think mathematically, he could work, right?
- 14:28[SPEAKER_01]: And again, buddy.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_01]: So I thought you had to find a ball.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_01]: And I did not know that they did.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, first and foremost, they claimed they did.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_01]: This is not Scotty's fault.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_01]: Right, he's playing in the rules that they gave him, right?
- 14:39[SPEAKER_00]: So this is all for hitting it, where we said, I have no idea.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_00]: But Matt's right, that's the blind shot and the lie he had.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, you know, unbelievable.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_01]: Could never have made bird if that grandstand was not there.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_01]: And there was nothing there.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_01]: There's zero chance he finds that ball.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_02]: Because Jimmy tell everybody like that that was not a lateral hazard that wasn't he didn't hit in in a hazard.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_02]: He just hit it somewhere else.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_02]: So it's not like he could take relief for the call that and moveable.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_01]: Temporary and movable and struck right so man made object.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_01]: So so that are TIO sorry, temporary and movable structure.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_01]: And so that's that's what it's considered.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_01]: So if they put something out there and it's temporary, you get relief.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_01]: But I thought you had to find your ball.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_01]: What did happen?
- 15:23[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know what the situation was.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_00]: Can you imagine had he tied the controversy that was my thought?
- 15:30[SPEAKER_00]: I actually left you a phone message with a couple of questions.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_01]: I don't believe it.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't come right back.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what he did.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_00]: I was flabbergasted by that.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_00]: Let's get to you know who.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_00]: Um, when I saw that they, after a dishevel completed his round and he was met by those two weird looking RNA people, uh, I was peeped off because I'm a dishevel fan, and I thought boy, this weekend's going to be so exciting if he's in the hunt because he's a crowd, please, and so then they, they, they take him back and, um,
- 16:12[SPEAKER_00]: uh... he's going through his tantrums and all and macaroid trashed him public are he's gonna need a lot of the players i understand after word guys were paved off at him because they didn't know whether they made the cut or they didn't know their tea times for the next day because of this delay with him trying to plead his case but
- 16:34[SPEAKER_00]: I'll let you take over from here, but when I saw the replay after replay after replay, he did do he's a big man, he did do a little bit of a job, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_01]: I'm okay with calling the penalty, right?
- 16:49[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think what I would say to that is he just needed to be more careful around his phone.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he purposely did it.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I also watched it like you eight thousand times, right?
- 17:00[SPEAKER_01]: And he would have had to walk all the way around to get to his ball, because that bush that he was pushing down was his biggest meat, right?
- 17:07[SPEAKER_01]: It was a big, it was only about, you know, so high, but it was the biggest meat.
- 17:10[SPEAKER_01]: He would have had to really walk around and walk back around.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_01]: And I think he was trying to figure out, okay,
- 17:17[SPEAKER_01]: or do I need to punch it out over here?
- 17:19[SPEAKER_01]: So he was trying to get behind it to figure out his line.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, if I punch it out over here, I might end up in a bunker, right?
- 17:24[SPEAKER_01]: So I gotta get it over here.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_01]: So I think he was trying to figure out and I think he could have been more careful.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_01]: So is it a horrible penalty?
- 17:34[SPEAKER_01]: No, is it questionable?
- 17:36[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely questionable.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_01]: Do I personally think that Scottier Rory gets that call on him?
- 17:42[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely not.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_01]: I do not.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, really?
- 17:44[SPEAKER_01]: I absolutely.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, really?
- 17:46[SPEAKER_01]: I think they call that on him.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_00]: Well, what are you insinuating that there was a bias against the Shambull?
- 17:52[SPEAKER_01]: There's zero question that there's a bias against you.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_01]: What cuz a live yeah hundred percent hundred percent hundred hundred hundred percent Wow Your soul man.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_02]: I will take it from a little different angle than you guys.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_02]: I don't really care for Bryson D. Shambo I don't want to watch him lose a tournament.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_02]: I'm with you guys.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_02]: It's more fun.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_02]: That's I think people get with golf.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_02]: They get so angry
- 18:13[SPEAKER_02]: The gohawk and you hate anything.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_02]: That's sports.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_02]: There's some guys I want to root against.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_02]: That's fine.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_02]: And the live thing isn't in their own reason.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_02]: Jimmy you're so right.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_02]: When I was sitting there watching and I go every professional golfer ever stands behind their ball.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_02]: So look where they want to go with then everybody does.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_02]: I'm with you.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think he did it on purpose because I also think he was flustered when he got there because he's like, Oh, crap.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_02]: You know, where do I got to go, look what I had moving it around the pace of play.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_02]: You can't sit over there for 10 minutes looking at it.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_02]: And I think when he walked around the second time and you can see him lift his foot up.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I think everybody goes.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_02]: But I don't think he did it on purpose.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think he was thinking.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_02]: I think he just got there and he did it but I agree.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_00]: Even for those of you who don't play golf.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_00]: Just picture this, what the real key here in this controversy was his taking the club back.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_00]: Because, could you pull a picture of that?
- 19:09[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_00]: All of that.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_00]: Fescue was so maddened together, so tall.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_00]: And it would have, taking the club back would have affected.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_00]: It would have been affected.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_00]: Let alone coming back down again through it to get enough on it to get it out.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_02]: You mean tell everybody what the penalty is you can't what improve your lie.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_02]: You can't improve your line of swing.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_02]: Your line of swing.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_02]: That's right.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_01]: Your club's right going to line of swing.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_01]: I saw before and after pictures and even though he stepped on it, it came back up.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's not like it was like, yeah, it is clear.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_01]: That's a good point.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_01]: And it was also had to pick the club straight up.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, right out.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_00]: So, and when he made contact, there was no follow.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it stopped.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_00]: There is club that stopped.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_02]: because that was an area that nobody had walked and nobody trampled.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes in the rougher where it's an area where there's fans walking.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes it can be trampled down.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_02]: He was literally like in the woods.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_01]: Well, he's my other big problem with it.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_01]: He even beyond that I do think there's a little bias against Bryson.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_01]: I also think that
- 20:08[SPEAKER_01]: Russell Henley or even Ryan Fox on a Friday, or those cameras are not that's good point.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_02]: That's good point.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_01]: Bryson has a camera on every shot of his points, right?
- 20:18[SPEAKER_01]: Every shot he hits.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_01]: So he has to do things perfectly where another guy can walk through the Fescue and no one sees it.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_01]: That's a great point.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_01]: And they actually and they have not confirmed this either way, but there's a rule in the RNA that you're not supposed to be able to take a call in from social media.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this is why we saw this and they claim that's where it came from with social media.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and if that's the case, that's actually illegal, but no one's ever confirmed one way or the other where it came from.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_01]: But, but again, Bryson, he's on camera every shot he's he's like tiger in the days.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes you'd watch an event when tiger in it, all you watch was tiger.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 20:53[SPEAKER_01]: Like, Bryce and that's what they want to see.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_01]: It's really unfair.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_02]: Here, Ryan's got the picture of it up for a guy.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_02]: So that's where you stand in it.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_02]: And then you can see that Bush that Jimmy's talking about behind him.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_02]: And that's obviously, I think when he was approaching, he hit a shy and he was kind of stepping behind it a little bit.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_00]: Let me shift gears a little bit and talk about the local favorite.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_00]: You know, there were three, an estimated 300 and 6,000 people came to this British open, scattered all over Royal Burkedale, and they were cheering for Fleetwood.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_00]: The local product to grew up just, you know, right there.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_00]: It's a five-minute area.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_00]: And I thought he was very gracious.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_00]: There had to be enormous pressure on him.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I mean, you think about it and we even see like, you know, when families come into watch teams and they talk, I've heard Kirk Cousins talk about it, you know, and when they're in a place where either they grew up or whatever, it's like, you've got to worry about getting tickets for people, you've got to worry about where people are staying, your family, people coming.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_01]: It's a really, it's, it's just added pressure.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_01]: Right, and I think that's what he had to deal with.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_01]: He ended up with a great, came out and gained a little if he, I was like, oh, man, there ain't a world bad Tommy Fleetwood and he's going to miss the cut.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_01]: But he, he came back around, but man, again, what, in this world, guys, there's not a lot of big personalities in golf right now and, and Bryson's one, but we don't get to see him, but in the four majors, he's a very likable.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_01]: kid.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, no, I don't.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_01]: But I've done like that.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_01]: I think if I'm the DP world tour on the PGA tour, man, I am putting this kid on the front of every poster that I'm doing, because you're talking about Fleetwood.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_00]: But he's 33 years old.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, yeah.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_02]: And he's never want to make sure.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_02]: see I think there's a lot of pressure on him too because a lot of people start talking to my him especially at Augusta because he usually plays well at Augusta too and they go wins again to get one this year a lot of people like him for this one and I'm not saying that I had a bad on fiendle that Tommy Fleet was going to win a major this year and that's money donated but you right because that's it's seem to you're trying to mention me I believe in him I like Tommy Fleet but I want him to win but there's pressure with the effort I'm there go my wife kept saying he's going to haircut
- 23:01[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, he's got a lot going on now as far as the golf course, too.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_00]: I can't mad alluded to this earlier.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_00]: To me, it was incredibly entertaining to see on Saturday, Ram get down on his knees and have to bend over into one of those bunkers and eat up on fantastic shot.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_00]: And to Shambal was going through contortions like Toby McGuire and the original Spider-Man it was unbelievable with that giant body of his and he couldn't figure out which way to contort.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_00]: very entertaining.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_00]: Those bunkers were treacherous.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you know, here's the cool thing about Royal Barkdale, Bruce and Otaya.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_01]: Three guys shot 62, but 10 under one for four days.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_01]: On Sunday, the golf course won, right?
- 23:49[SPEAKER_01]: When it's supposed to win the golf course won, and the weather was in crazy army.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_00]: It was beautiful by hard bikes, British open standards.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_01]: But that golf course let them have a little bit early, you know, yet you guys getting after it a little bit,
- 24:05[SPEAKER_02]: What do you think Jimmy the run out guy sitting five iron's going 300 yards.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, is that do you think that's good for like a tournament like that or do you think it can mess with some of those guys good for the open because that's what the goal.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, that's what open golf is right.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you got to get it in a fair way.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_01]: You got to get it running down there and you better know where those pot bunkers are and and you got to be able to put right.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm said.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Ryan Fox made some pots.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_00]: And this was the fourth and final major.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_00]: So two of the four majors this year were one by first time majors winners, Rye and Al Ryan Fox and congratulations.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_00]: A very entertaining year for the majors.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_00]: And I know there's a lot of go off to be played yet, but Jimmy knows me so well in what I'm about to say Matt.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_00]: 30, 40, 50 years from now, just like 30, 40, 50 years before us.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_00]: You are judged by how many majors you win.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_00]: That's the bottom line in the history of golf.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I couldn't tell you who's one more FedEx cup championship's over somebody.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, players.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I watch them every single one.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I couldn't tell you.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but I know how many majors people have won.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_01]: And I, I, I, I, I'm with Bruce.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_01]: I think that that in your writer cup record or what's you're judged by in in your golf career.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't think that's ever going to change.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_02]: And especially some of the guys that only won one, we still talk about Ben Curtis around here because he won one, you know, and I'm saying, I'm not saying that Aaron Rye won't win another one, but he's got one, you know, and you can talk about the masters are different because you see like, obviously randoms, but the guys are like, oh, yeah, I forgot, you know, he, you know, I mean, Mike weir, you know, you're like, oh, Mike weir, you know, yeah, he had won, it was one, you know, tournament that he won, which was so much fun.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_02]: I did see this trivia question on the third of you guys of the last.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_02]: Since 2012, there's only been one guy to win a major outside the top 50 official world golf rankings.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_02]: Who was it?
- 25:59[SPEAKER_02]: Was it JJ S. Bond?
- 26:00[SPEAKER_02]: No, he was like 47.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, wow.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_01]: In the last how many years?
- 26:05[SPEAKER_02]: Since 2012.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_01]: 2012.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_02]: I'm only bringing it up because I got it because I was like, oh, that's right.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_02]: No, he was in the top 50.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_00]: That's interesting.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_02]: All right, lay it on us because we're still at Kiwa.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_02]: Phil at Kiwa, Phil won the PGA at Kiwa.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_02]: He was outside the top 50.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_02]: He was outside the top 100 when he won that.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, great.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_00]: That's a good question.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_00]: Very good, very good.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_00]: He was in that spot.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_00]: Look at that down for it.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_00]: Jimmy, want to thank you so much as always.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_00]: Buddy, we'll see you next year.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

- 28:01[SPEAKER_03]: Let's go to the hardwood guys.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_03]: I think day 23 if I'm not mistaken of LeBron James watch Well guys in my opinion looks like the Miami heat are picking up a little steam proofs.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if you saw this but matter Effect that Miami heat social team.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_03]: They accidentally posted what was a live link to a
- 28:16[SPEAKER_03]: Live stream for an introductory press conference for LeBron the problem is he doesn't play there yet But Adam Shepter now has said that his sources are telling that LeBron will be going back to Miami Bruce I'm getting a little bit worried here.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_03]: Where do you stand on this?
- 28:28[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I have the utmost respect I like Shepter a lot.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_00]: I have the utmost respect for him But it rich Paul came out and said don't rush us.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_00]: Don't rush us.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_00]: We're in no hurry despite the fact that Adam Silver has said
- 28:42[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, well, you know, for the sake of the league, you know, let's get, you know, hey, that shows how much power he really has, what it comes to the way the inmates run the asylum.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_00]: And that's the case in the NBA, unfortunately, but I think LeBron putting this off as long as he did a lot of Clevelanders and Cavs fans are upset and concerned.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_00]: I still am holding out that this would be a perfect fit for him.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_00]: to conclude his career come over here with his kid put Ronnie on the end of the bench big deal but to team him with the core four I still think has got to be very attractive to him been there done that in Miami Matt and the silly thing do they have enough around him and be he's going to get hurt in a little bit.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, Philly, I think is actually more of the view of just joining a championship level team.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_02]: Like, you know, Ryan, I talked about this yesterday, Bruce.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_02]: I think the next winning a championship in a way was good for the calves, because if they didn't, he'd be in New York already.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_02]: He'd be in Nick.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_02]: There would be no question.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_02]: You don't want to go there, because they just won the title.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_02]: He doesn't want to be seen like Kevin Durant.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_02]: I think
- 29:47[SPEAKER_02]: Filly is a little like that.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_02]: I think Minnesota is a little like that when you're joining these teams that have three other stars already and you're just joining that team there's Element of gas going back to Miami going back to Cleveland Miami does not have enough like I did right.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to die on this hill that the Miami heat they have
- 30:07[SPEAKER_02]: They shouldn't even have a seat at the table what you're going to play with bam and yawn is like okay That all aside, so that's to me where the conversation is I don't understand I know you and I know Bruce as well.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_03]: Believe that the Cleveland Cavaliers have a better roster than the Miami 1,000 that's not true right
- 30:23[SPEAKER_03]: a better what regular season team or better playoff team because that's a question for LeBron.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_03]: Yannis will be the best player that LeBron has ever played with.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_03]: You pair him with Bam at a bio with a little thin yes, but we know those superstars when you championship's in the playoffs.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm not making argument one where the other just think people are severely underestimating what Miami could be in the playoffs with LeBron, James Bam and Yannis.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_00]: Let's, let's, let's not forget that.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_00]: LeBron's not the player that he was 10 years ago.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_02]: Correct.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so that makes it.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_00]: And that's true.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_00]: That's a good point.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_00]: You make about not playing with anybody as good as Janice.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_00]: He's played with some great players, but that's true.
- 30:54[SPEAKER_00]: But he's not as good as he was.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_00]: And he's going to have to watch his minutes at what 42-43 years ago.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_03]: I agree.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_03]: And but again, Bruce, you got to realize LeBron has been watching Donovan Mitchell watching Evan Mobile for the last four or five years.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_03]: He's been watching James Harden now.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_03]: How that looked.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_03]: It might not be music to LeBron's ears to him he's seen this team flame off in the lighter parts of the regular season and the really marks the playoffs.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_03]: And maybe he looks Janice as my best chance to go get a ring and I get to be in Miami.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_02]: Well the other report coming out yesterday from Kevin O'Connor is that LeBron's waiting to see if any these teams can get Anthony Davis or Kyrie Irving.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_02]: And there's a report out that he's doing it to tick off Adam Silver.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_02]: Then there's a report that he's waiting for these teams to go make a move and
- 31:34[SPEAKER_02]: It's not quite as easy like I sent it to yesterday, which everybody's looking on the cell and kept the NBA works.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_02]: It was a joke where it's like, oh, just send Struce and Schroeder and some picks and just go get Kyrie Irving.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_02]: It's that easy, right?
- 31:45[SPEAKER_02]: It's not.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_02]: It's not that easy to go get him.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_02]: But if you can get him, then that would probably spell the end of James heart and you don't need James.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_02]: Harden if you somehow get Kyrie here.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_02]: How many guards are you going to play?
- 31:56[SPEAKER_02]: But that's where I think maybe Kobe Altman Bruce is sitting.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_02]: You're saying, yeah, Brown, we'll make the moves that you need to.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_02]: sign this paper first you tell us you're in and then because what's the point of having all these conversations what's the point of pissing off some of your players to go you know you might the rumors might come out like yeah we were gonna offer you a free Anthony Davis and by the way there's no world that i think the wizards are getting rid of Anthony Davis so cross him off and at this point
- 32:23[SPEAKER_02]: But Kyrie being injured, they have Cooper flag.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_02]: They made some really good graphics with Dallas.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_02]: Why would they be so apt to just ship Kyrie out now?
- 32:32[SPEAKER_02]: I don't understand it.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I also, you know, how much should Cavs fans be worried that all the recent momentum seems to be shifting toward Miami?
- 32:41[SPEAKER_00]: Let's get back to that because what is the altar?
- 32:44[SPEAKER_00]: We've talked about this in the last couple of weeks.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_00]: What if we don't get LeBron?
- 32:49[SPEAKER_00]: Well, Kominga is all, it's being rumored, seven season, you know, and 12 points a game, 5.63 bounds, 2.3 assists.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_00]: Is he gonna put us over there?
- 33:01[SPEAKER_00]: No, there's no way.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_00]: There's no way.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_00]: Even though he's an up-and-coming star Do you agree there?
- 33:07[SPEAKER_02]: No, I do and that's just like your consolation.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_02]: We gotta do something I mean when Kobe Altman first came out in the off season and he said nope, we're gonna keep this team together And we feel like we're ascending like okay fine
- 33:19[SPEAKER_02]: I think we all sat there and looked at it and go, yeah, sure, okay.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_02]: Well, they're going to make some sort of move.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_02]: And I think they're at this point now, while they're waiting for the brun, if it's not brun, then what do you do?
- 33:30[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you obviously very clearly then just resigned James Harden, he's back, and you feel like you just have to change something.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_02]: And Commingo would most likely be a sign-in trade, so you'd be flipping out backstrues.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, everybody under the sun,
- 33:45[SPEAKER_02]: including myself, so I just did it.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_02]: Has Dennis Schroeder on the next, you know, train out of town, right?
- 33:50[SPEAKER_02]: Who's your backup point guard?
- 33:52[SPEAKER_02]: He played good in important minutes for you in the playoffs down the stretch because when you're starting to stagger brunt or some image and brunt, when you're starting to stagger down of initial and James Harden, sometimes you want those guys off ball.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_02]: And I frankly think there's a world that both Harden and Don have an our better when they're off the ball because then they can't, especially Donovan, they can't trap him when he comes into the front court.
- 34:16[SPEAKER_02]: You need a dentist shooter on this team.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_02]: Now you have to maybe move him because he's an expiring contract.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_02]: As his screws, you got to make the money work.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_02]: I get it, but I do feel like Ryan that the calves are conditioned that if they don't get bron, they still have to do something, and that might be your guy, the bucket.
- 34:34[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I hope they feel that way and they certainly should feel that way.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_03]: I agree, but I don't think you're going to let that stop you from trading him for a guy like Kominga, maybe in a weird world bet that is the move.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe that maybe even all of this, this is the move that they should make in the first place over LeBron James, because this is a guy that not to say LeBron doesn't fit right into the lineup, but he fits more of that age in that window.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he would he not be potentially the best when this is a high bar by any means.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_03]: Sure.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_03]: Best wing they've had since LeBron potentially he could be.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_00]: Like, well, but yeah, but it doesn't make them the eastern kind of champions.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_03]: I agree, but people don't even think LeBron coming here makes them easier.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I think I think it definitely increases the chances of winning the easy.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_00]: Do you think they'd be the favorite though?
- 35:19[SPEAKER_00]: Who cares who's the favorite?
- 35:21[SPEAKER_00]: I mean who cares with the Cincinnati Reds the favorite in 1990 They split the powerful Oakland days.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_00]: I mean give me a break as far as odds and upsets.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_00]: That's ridiculous No, I that that that'd be the last thing for my mind.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think there's any question if LeBron came here That it increases enormously the chances of represented the East
- 35:39[SPEAKER_02]: and it just elevates the play that's already there.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_02]: You know, Bruce, I was having this conversation too about if the calves don't do anything.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_02]: Let's say, Braun doesn't come and yeah, sure they get coming on.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_02]: They run this team back.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_02]: There's an essence going to be people that sit there and get worried because they go, oh, steam's got swept in the Easter coffins, fine holes and they don't have enough.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_02]: And I go, I sit there and go.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_02]: you know, there's a world they actually just get better.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_02]: There's a world that they actually improve.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_02]: There's a world that they figure better things out with James Harden with an off season with a full regular season.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_02]: There's a world that, yes, finally, maybe Evan Mobley takes that step that you hope Jared Allen stays healthy.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_02]: There's a world that this Cavs team, even without any changes, could win an NBA title just because they got better.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_02]: People don't want to hear that because they're conditioned.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_02]: I don't got him in transit.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_02]: And that's fine.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that's fair.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_00]: I think LeBron
- 36:28[SPEAKER_00]: It's about the only guy, I can't think of anybody, certainly, not for the coming go.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_00]: LeBron is about the only guy that could help moldbly reach his ultimate potential that we've all been hoping for, another Kevin Garnett, I don't know if he'll ever achieve, but if anybody can bring out, bring the better, the best out of moldbly, it's LeBron James.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, Matt, do you like, but do you feel good about that happening like your chances of them just internally improving that much?
- 36:53[SPEAKER_03]: Probably not right.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_03]: No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_02]: But what I'm going to say is that you can't just do, you can't just say that there's no way that that's going to happen.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_02]: Like people are sitting there like you you're required and and it must go make a trade you don't have to yes.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_02]: I would like the calves to make a move.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_02]: I'd like them to improve the roster.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_02]: But there is no way or no world that they're required to do that.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_03]: Let me end you guys with this question that do you think people have overblown how much more competitive and balanced the East have gotten because Yannis going to Miami obviously the next are still great the pistons are in this next year Jalen Brown goes to a stacked six or steam at least if they're healthy.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_03]: Do you think we've overreacted about how much more balanced the East has gotten to the point where we feel like we need to make a move?
- 37:36[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, I mean you're gonna be you're afraid of who you're afraid of Philly.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_02]: You were not last year Relative like you're afraid of Miami, but they're just gonna be better.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what's gonna happen with this quiet thing I'm super interested to see what happens to Toronto, but also people the pastors are gonna be better like Tyre's Halle Burton's coming back like they're gonna be better Boston is the one for me Bruce that I just go
- 37:57[SPEAKER_02]: I have no idea what they're going to be without jail and Brown.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_02]: I think they're going to be like a five seed, but I don't know.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_02]: And then you sort of the next that are basically going to be able to run it back for one more year, because jail and Brunson doesn't need to contract the extension until next off season.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_02]: So you know, they're going to be certainly the favorite and going to be, I think, well into the season for the majority of the season.
- 38:19[SPEAKER_02]: So like,
- 38:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, there's there's two schools of thought.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_02]: Do you get better to try or do you just hope everybody else gets worse?
- 38:25[SPEAKER_02]: So I got bad news for it.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody else didn't get worse.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_02]: So you better find a way to get better.
- 38:29[SPEAKER_02]: Whether that's a trade, whether that's the team just improving.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know the easiest path Bruce 100% is for Brian to come to the cabs.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_02]: That would make them better.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_02]: That would help them immensely when it comes to playoff.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_00]: I have been saying for years and I would argue for years that
- 38:46[SPEAKER_00]: In baseball, you go into the season, or might be 10 teams that could win the World Series legitimately, and the NFL may be eight in hockey 20.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_00]: In the NBA, one, two, or three.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but that's no longer the case.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_00]: So to answer your question, Ryan, it has changed.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_00]: Because of the emergence of teams in the East, like New York, Toronto had a run a couple of years ago, but now with Miami getting Janus with Philly getting Brown, the Cavaliers are right at India.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Indiana analogy is very valid.
- 39:24[SPEAKER_00]: Well, Alabama is coming back.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_00]: Let alone the West, San Antonio arose.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_00]: uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh
- 39:59[SPEAKER_02]: Well, yeah, I do, I mean, at the end of the day, what's changed?
- 40:06[SPEAKER_02]: Nothing.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_02]: What's my Amy got?
- 40:08[SPEAKER_02]: They had the same thing they had a month ago.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_02]: What does Philly have?
- 40:10[SPEAKER_02]: They have the same roster since they got jail and broke.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_02]: Nothing has changed.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's, I, I really, I buy guys 100% I think he's waiting for them to see if they can make a move to get Kyrie or Eddie.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's what he wants.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_02]: I really do and that's just waiting to see if the teams can get it done.
- 40:27[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I have to say, all right, speaking of moves.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_02]: It is going to be MLB trade deadline before you know it.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_02]: Just a couple of weeks out from that are the Guardians going to do something.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_02]: Tough one last night.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_02]: They got a day game to it.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_02]: Well, well, well, well, well, well, well, part of that.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_02]: Probably right.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_02]: All right, we'll get to that.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_02]: I'll coming up big play Cleveland Live right here on YouTube.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_00]: Jose Ramirez of the Cleveland Guardians had surgery on his Hamade and the timetable for his being out was five to seven weeks.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_00]: Well, he returned last night for the guards at Mark five weeks in one day.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_00]: And we went 15 and 15 without Jose.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_00]: And without Jose, we ranked 28th and run scored, 26 and OPS, that's on base and slugging percentage, combined.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_00]: And that's in 30 games.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_00]: Now, last night, he went two for five.
- 41:16[SPEAKER_00]: We lost the game the Minnesota 10 to six, but in my opinion, fellas, it makes the lineup better in front of them.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_00]: Behind him, what his mere presence.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_00]: is so important to this team and won't belong before we get Martinez back as well.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_00]: So will the guards make a trade?
- 41:34[SPEAKER_00]: As I said all offseason, don't be surprised if they don't make any major moves.
- 41:38[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_00]: I won't be surprised if they don't make a trade here.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_00]: I still think we can win this division with the best team.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_02]: I agree with you Bruce.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_02]: The one one coming on on Hose, which I think is great.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_02]: It gets guys back to their natural order.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_02]: Like I still think Bazana
- 41:52[SPEAKER_02]: I'd love Kwan to prove me wrong.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_02]: We know we're at Stephen Kwan with me.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_02]: I'd love him to be back in the lead off spot, but I'm fine with Pizana there.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_02]: I was a bad in second.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_02]: The lottery third.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_02]: I broke you in the cleanup spot.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_02]: I don't mind that.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, don't give me star and comedy in Zardo, but, you know, you don't run by me.
- 42:08[SPEAKER_02]: No, I won't say that.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_02]: But as soon as I start talking bad about people, I start talking bad about Stephen Kwan and he wakes up.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_02]: Hey Kyle.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_02]: You suck, man, send them that clip.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_02]: I don't really mean that to turn it around, Kyle.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_02]: Please, as soon as I start talking bad about somebody, Tim Heron's up next once he gets back up to the major.
- 42:27[SPEAKER_02]: But anyway, now Bruce, I think, you know, the thing, right now I talked about an article on ESPN, where they just, you know, Jeff Pass and Buster only were talking about.
- 42:36[SPEAKER_02]: There's no right hand sticks.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_02]: I ain't any right hand bats at this line up.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_02]: There is an overwhelming amount of starting pitching that should be available.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_02]: That's fine.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_02]: Even if school doesn't leave Detroit, which I'm starting to think he might not, Guardians don't really need it.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_02]: You know your three starters for a playoff series.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_02]: That's all you really need.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_02]: You can get through the regular season with those guys.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_02]: So are you willing to go all in and overpay for a right-handed bat?
- 43:01[SPEAKER_02]: Because there aren't so many.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_02]: my answer is probably no and you know I'd love there to be a trade you know we've talked a lot about this the guardians have a a spoil of riches of prospects like they just sent collier Watson back down everybody goes to hell's at about right there are a lot of organizations that would die to have a guy like collier Watson uh even on their major league roster at this point so you've got the extra prospects I'm not giving them away I'm not just going to make some trade to make some trade bullpen arm
- 43:32[SPEAKER_02]: Sure, maybe you could always use more bullpen.
- 43:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, you could always take one of those, but as far as wanting to get the bat, I'm not going over pay and Bruce, I just don't think there's going to be enough of a veil.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_00]: And here's the options.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Cleo Watson, Matt, just mentioned, Juan Brito, help him.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_00]: Who happened to run the other day?
- 43:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, um, and gal general.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_00]: Um, a Gabrielle Aries.
- 43:54[SPEAKER_00]: Um, uh, a Kooper angle.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_00]: And there's no way I would trade real for you.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_00]: I can't really ask that.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to get rid of any of these guys.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe breed.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, sure.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_00]: If I was overwhelmed, I could part company with help and to I don't want to get rid of any of the others.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 44:11[SPEAKER_02]: No, and that's the thing.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_02]: There's there's
- 44:13[SPEAKER_02]: you don't want to help out the other team you know I get that the guardians need to be in this win now mode but to your point proves I think they have shown not just this year but even last year that this team and its core because the majority of the core is still here they can do it and yeah I want to win the central you're pretty good in the wild card right now too like you know that's I'm
- 44:31[SPEAKER_00]: I'm still not trying to just listen to this by Boston winning 15.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_00]: They're streak ended in the night cap of the twin build right a Seattle's two games out of the wild card ball a more three Minnesota three and Houston three and a half But yeah, and the standings were one game behind Chicago.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_00]: I am still not a believer of the white side
- 44:48[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, I want to see it now that we're approaching the month of August and in December Proof me wrong.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_00]: They might they might but I still think we're the team to beat in the American League Central.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_00]: I do.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no, go ahead.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think anybody will disagree with you Bruce.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_03]: In fact, I think more fans and Cleveland are pretty optimistic Then ones that are pessimistic, but Bruce the question comes down to what do you say to those that are sick of just winning the division, you know?
- 45:13[SPEAKER_00]: Well, anything can happen in the playoffs.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, yeah, once you get into the playoffs, erase the records, I can historically, the best examples 1973 with the New York match.
- 45:24[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they finished two games above 500.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_00]: Went to the world series against Oakland, took them to the seventh game.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_00]: They had Tom Seaver on the mound with a three, two lead going into game six and they lost.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_00]: Anything can happen.
- 45:37[SPEAKER_00]: Again, I used 1990 to Cincinnati Red sweeping that Oakland A team with Consecle McGuire, Ricky Henderson, Carnegie Lansford, come on up set after upset 1963, the New York Yankees were the absolute dominant team of the 50s and into the 60s, and a picture by the name of Sandy Co. Fax and Don Tri-Stale and the L.A. Dodgers were little singles, bunting singles and doubles, ending team, swept them in four games.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_00]: Anything can happen once you get into the playoffs.
- 46:05[SPEAKER_03]: But the thing, and I agree with DeBruce, so we just saw the Texas Rangers, there's a dime of access.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_03]: Not too long ago.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_03]: But what do you say?
- 46:12[SPEAKER_03]: Cause fans are, I know money's money and it's a small market, but fans are upset.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_03]: Anything can happen, but why not go get a piece that can add your probability to help you out.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_00]: And mortgage the future.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I just went through all of these are all people.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_00]: Social stars.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_03]: People are willing to do that if it means a world series for this team.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_03]: There's no guarantee of that.
- 46:31[SPEAKER_03]: I grade.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_00]: I give you the New York Mets in the money they've been spending like a wild safe nothing against a Navy.
- 46:37[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I haven't forbid.
- 46:39[SPEAKER_00]: I'm so pro-military.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_00]: But I mean, come on.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_00]: The Mets, what are they going to do?
- 46:44[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you know, they could trade soda.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_00]: They could trade Bashet for sure.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the shed I would because I mean he doesn't sound like he he's got a player option too, so he just leave after this year Well indoor
- 46:55[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe I don't know, you know what that goes, but no, I think the same thing Bruce like you get in the baseball You get into the playoffs and you've seen teams from the wild card It's a little different than all the other sports.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously there's no wild card in the NBA But you know football again.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_02]: It's a little different just to get their baseball truly is just get in Especially now that it's not just that one wild card game to a advance.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_02]: You're actually into real series I'm with you.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_02]: I think anything can happen once you get there
- 47:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and all these kids, eventually they will have to make some decisions because there's too many fabulous young prospects and enough positions for them.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean at the end of the day,
- 47:54[SPEAKER_02]: that's a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a
- 48:13[SPEAKER_03]: But I mean, that's not the one kind of hole they need to plug there.
- 48:16[SPEAKER_02]: Well, the the problem is what are you going to do with man's ardo.
- 48:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't know to see any options left.
- 48:22[SPEAKER_02]: I have no idea if he's got.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, if they want to hold on to this for the last guess as long as well.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_00]: And then you get into certain times.
- 48:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, exactly.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 48:29[SPEAKER_02]: And then I know they'll do that call up this September call up and they do everything like that.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_02]: I'm looking up right now of comments are those options left.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_02]: But anyway, like.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_02]: the other thing he does have minor league options available so if the guards do want to send man's art out down they could but obviously you know every time we talk about it he comes shows up and has a couple hits that are important you know i get ready re-saskans that's just a locker room club house that's a right even vote type of guy and and i don't care for sending 200 he's a type of guy if you get into the postseason like he did the other day hit to home right yeah you're gonna want a guy like him around you know at look at the
- 49:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, that was off school.
- 49:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 49:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 49:10[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 49:10[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you know, fry still here is your utility.
- 49:13[SPEAKER_02]: I like your roster is set.
- 49:15[SPEAKER_02]: And that's the nice, you want to take a nice piece of positivity as a Cleveland Guardians fan, getting into this stretch run here.
- 49:21[SPEAKER_02]: I don't have questions and and they're set for a year.
- 49:24[SPEAKER_00]: They're set for him.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_00]: All these kids.
- 49:26[SPEAKER_00]: They're they've got them locked up for five six years.
- 49:30[SPEAKER_00]: They're in the room.
- 49:30[SPEAKER_00]: The rotation.
- 49:32[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I wouldn't know if you've been hurt.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_02]: You know what it is.
- 49:34[SPEAKER_02]: There's there's posits.
- 49:37[SPEAKER_02]: For the guys to know I'm playing almost every day or I'm going to show up on a movie part of this.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be a long run.
- 49:42[SPEAKER_03]: So, actually, I'm so glad you said that about the future because that is a big part.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_03]: It didn't feel like you had this core.
- 49:46[SPEAKER_03]: It didn't feel like it.
- 49:47[SPEAKER_03]: You didn't have this core back in times like I'm thinking of the 2017, so the 2020s.
- 49:51[SPEAKER_03]: You didn't have that three year much better about this team.
- 49:58[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
- 49:59[SPEAKER_00]: Again.
- 49:59[SPEAKER_00]: Now, let me reiterate, under Shapiro, he made some good trades, but under his watch, the drafting and development of those drafts, these was a trotace.
- 50:08[SPEAKER_00]: Anternity and turn off.
- 50:10[SPEAKER_00]: made good trades, but they're drafting a development has been sensational.
- 50:15[SPEAKER_00]: And now it seem we were pitching a developing all these fabulous pitchers.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_00]: Now we're developing all these really potential star position players.
- 50:24[SPEAKER_03]: Bruce James says it's the holding on to prospects that cost us Randy Johnson and Pedro Martinez says you can miss me with those teams.
- 50:31[SPEAKER_00]: Well, um, that's not true.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_00]: I interviewed John hard about that and he almost got Randy Johnson and nothing to do with prospects.
- 50:40[SPEAKER_00]: Johnson wanted to go too Houston.
- 50:43[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, so that's not true.
- 50:45[SPEAKER_00]: Bye.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_00]: When it comes to, um, petro Martinez, uh, that is a valid point, because it's your right, right, um, he wanted to hold on to Jared right, and then heart regrets that move more than anything in his general managers, uh, career.
- 51:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and the thing is it's there's plenty, uh, Andrew Miller worked out.
- 51:03[SPEAKER_02]: You know, we're, what happened in Clint Frazier?
- 51:05[SPEAKER_02]: What happened?
- 51:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 51:06[SPEAKER_02]: Just to show.
- 51:07[SPEAKER_02]: I don't remember the game up for Josh Donaldson like the guy had 13 and bats or something like here and you got to give and take about these big splash moves at the trade deadline some of them work some of them don't They don't and then their teams they get desperate to feel like they have to do something
- 51:27[SPEAKER_00]: And let me make this point, we had talked about Chapman like the Andrew Miller analogy a few years ago under him now, forget that now, because of Boston was a 15 game winning streak, which matches a 1946 and it ties the franchise record.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_00]: They were 23 Boston since June 25th with this streak after it was snapped at game two of their twin bill against Paul the Moore, but they're right now in the wild card hunt, so they're not gonna trade Chapman.
- 51:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and there's a lot of teams with the extra Wildcar 2 that feel like they can get back into it.
- 51:58[SPEAKER_02]: So they probably don't like, I don't really say Detroit, but now it's kind of turning back that maybe school doesn't want to leave.
- 52:03[SPEAKER_02]: Like that, whatever the Guardians do, you got to remember too, like, even if they don't go make a trade, you know, week from Monday or whatever it is.
- 52:11[SPEAKER_02]: Like, you got to watch with the other teams do because like, I want to see if Minnesota does trade Byron bucks, then like that's going to hurt them.
- 52:17[SPEAKER_02]: Like, it's not just necessarily about the market to do.
- 52:20[SPEAKER_02]: He was hard again too.
- 52:21[SPEAKER_02]: He went back on the aisle for the all-star break too.
- 52:23[SPEAKER_02]: He'll figure my garland eyes and I feel backs.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_02]: They said I was listening and I think it was Rosie was talking and I said Byron Bucks was like fighting with Oh gosh, who's their manager up there now?
- 52:35[SPEAKER_02]: So I rock about L anymore.
- 52:36[SPEAKER_02]: Where are they?
- 52:36[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 52:37[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, is it coming?
- 52:38[SPEAKER_02]: It's not coming.
- 52:39[SPEAKER_02]: Who looked Google that?
- 52:40[SPEAKER_02]: No, that's Tampa.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_02]: It's Tampa.
- 52:41[SPEAKER_02]: It's another shell.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_02]: Derek Scheldon.
- 52:43[SPEAKER_02]: That's a new as a guardian.
- 52:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Derek Scheldon.
- 52:45[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 52:45[SPEAKER_02]: That's right.
- 52:46[SPEAKER_02]: So anyway, apparently, Buckston was like, arguing because he just he had been years since he didn't go on the I.L.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_02]: And he had this bad hip injury.
- 52:54[SPEAKER_02]: And eventually they told him like, dude, you can't play.
- 52:56[SPEAKER_02]: And we're wasting a roster spot.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_02]: So eventually he sucked it up and went on the I.L.
- 53:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you got to watch it.
- 53:02[SPEAKER_02]: These other teams do too and if it's going to hurt them or not, it's the marathon sport.
- 53:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and we've proven it in the past and who's to say they're not going to do it again, Steven vote.
- 53:14[SPEAKER_00]: We couldn't have gotten any one better to take over for Tito.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_00]: And I just say go cards.
- 53:21[SPEAKER_00]: I forget the mystic.
- 53:23[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to be in the postseason again in a dangerous team.
- 53:25[SPEAKER_03]: Last thing, Bruce, a promise for we move on here.
- 53:28[SPEAKER_03]: Do you agree with the sentiment that because we got another comment here on YouTube that the Dolan's are cheap?
- 53:32[SPEAKER_00]: No, that's ridiculous.
- 53:34[SPEAKER_00]: I'm proof of that when I got out of prison for God's sake, they gave me a six-figure salary.
- 53:39[SPEAKER_00]: What I had bargaining power after spending five months in a federal pen gave me a break.
- 53:44[SPEAKER_00]: That is such a misnomer.
- 53:45[SPEAKER_00]: If you knew your baseball, you would know mid-level market payrolls.
- 53:50[SPEAKER_00]: Take a look at them.
- 53:51[SPEAKER_00]: All of the teams and the ones that have spent have failed to trustlessly.
- 53:55[SPEAKER_00]: Cincinnati failed to trustlessly when they gave all that money to Phillips.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_00]: And Homer Bailey, trot, trot, trotious spending of money.
- 54:06[SPEAKER_00]: What has it gotten San Diego?
- 54:08[SPEAKER_00]: And that's a middle-level team.
- 54:09[SPEAKER_00]: Now they're in real trouble for the future.
- 54:12[SPEAKER_02]: I always say this, and by the way, because again, I will admit Bruce that I get frustrated with the overtime time, but here's what I always say, they have to play a different game.
- 54:21[SPEAKER_02]: They just have to play a different game, because it's not the same as the Metz and the Yankees, where they can just, oh, bad contract, yeah, no big deal.
- 54:27[SPEAKER_02]: One bad contract can sink this franchise.
- 54:29[SPEAKER_02]: That's how important it is without a spend it.
- 54:31[SPEAKER_00]: Well, and, you know, let's not forget the money that the Dolom Spent on in Karnasia.
- 54:35[SPEAKER_00]: sure they have something that work uh... sports time all high up to fox what do they do they turn around and they use that money uh... immediately to get uh... the center field or from Atlanta and and what's a cycle board in minic so sure
- 54:51[SPEAKER_00]: at the time.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_00]: That was millions and millions of times.
- 54:53[SPEAKER_00]: That was big money.
- 54:54[SPEAKER_00]: So people don't even if they just totally forget about that and negate that.
- 54:58[SPEAKER_02]: And if it was all equal, the guardians that have multiple.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying this.
- 55:01[SPEAKER_00]: Those, the Incarnacion moved, Incarnacion moved that paid off somewhat.
- 55:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 55:06[SPEAKER_00]: The swisher born moved out.
- 55:07[SPEAKER_00]: Did not.
- 55:08[SPEAKER_00]: But that's the gambling.
- 55:09[SPEAKER_00]: Most of these, these contracts that these teams give out.
- 55:13[SPEAKER_00]: Don't, don't.
- 55:13[SPEAKER_00]: pay off.
- 55:14[SPEAKER_00]: Well, and that's where I think it's one of the world's series.
- 55:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 55:19[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, and the other thing is, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
- 55:21[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
- 55:21[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
- 55:21[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
- 55:22[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
- 55:22[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
- 55:22[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
- 55:22[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
- 55:23[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
- 55:23[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
- 55:24[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
- 55:25[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
- 55:25[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
- 55:26[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
- 55:26[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
- 55:26[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
- 55:27[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
- 55:28[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
- 55:28[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
- 55:28[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry.
- 55:29[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 55:30[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry.
- 55:30[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
- 55:30[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 55:31[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 55:31[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 55:32[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 55:32[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 55:33[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 55:33[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 55:33[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 55:34[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 55:34[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 55:35[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 55:36[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 55:36[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 55:37[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 55:37[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 55:37[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 55:38[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 55:39[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 55:39[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 55:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 55:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 55:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 55:41[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 55:41[SPEAKER_00]: I'm
- 55:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, one hundred percent.
- 55:43[SPEAKER_02]: I believe that.
- 55:44[SPEAKER_02]: I feel it.
- 55:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's unfortunate.
- 55:46[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see what kind of comes out the other side of it.
- 55:48[SPEAKER_02]: Speaking of coming the other side, Guardians do play this afternoon.

- 59:09[SPEAKER_02]: I saw a very large Spencer Fano walking into the Brown specifically a little bit earlier in the day so it's back and I always say train camp is the unbridled optimism season for the Cleveland Brown.
- 59:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah and you know I have been their biggest critic for many many years but I
- 59:28[SPEAKER_00]: I am really exuding optimism for this upcoming campaign, provided, and oh my goodness, this is a big if, if we get any kind of decent quarterbacking, I think the Browns have a very winnable schedule.
- 59:43[SPEAKER_00]: I'm talking 9-10 wins possibly.
- 59:45[SPEAKER_00]: I can see it again.
- 59:47[SPEAKER_00]: Baltimore is a new coach.
- 59:49[SPEAKER_00]: So does Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, if they could kind of defend should be the favorite in this mission.
- 59:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 59:55[SPEAKER_00]: Iron Rogers, come on.
- 59:56[SPEAKER_00]: What an antiquated fossil he is.
- 59:58[SPEAKER_00]: And Lamar Jackson is fabulous, this is he is.
- 1:00:02[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, is he ever going to get to the Super Bowl?
- 1:00:04[SPEAKER_00]: So if we get any kind of quarterbacking.
- 1:00:08[SPEAKER_00]: I like the browns of the nine and eight could win this division, but you have to start Watson.
- 1:00:15[SPEAKER_00]: I know you agree with me Matt Ryan over there is the Renegade and he says Sanders, you go to him if Watson is a bust, but otherwise you've got to get subbed for this money.
- 1:00:26[SPEAKER_03]: Real quick.
- 1:00:27[SPEAKER_03]: I agree.
- 1:00:27[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not at all opposed to the idea of starting to Sean and having should or come in when he stinks inevitably stinks and he can just ease and do it get a little more watching behind to Sean and then he goes in and doesn't have to worry about him being on his back.
- 1:00:39[SPEAKER_03]: But I can't accept the fact of you guys saying to Sean Watson gives the Brown's the best ability to win.
- 1:00:44[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I think Shidorah Sanders is a better quarterback than to Sean Watson is, so I think he gives him the better chance to win.
- 1:00:49[SPEAKER_01]: He's done what?
- 1:00:50[SPEAKER_03]: Based on that, I've seen him play better football more recently than I have played watch to Sean Watson.
- 1:00:54[SPEAKER_03]: Well, that's that same much.
- 1:00:56[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 1:00:56[SPEAKER_02]: And we're going back to six years ago and I'm not saying he was the answer.
- 1:01:00[SPEAKER_02]: The other the other factor.
- 1:01:03[SPEAKER_02]: That not I don't the other factor that I don't think is getting talked about enough when it comes to this browns quarterback battle is this you're going to have at least one rookie on that offensive line maybe to your potential two and three wide receivers are going to be rookies you've got a second year tight end that's going to be a starter you're going to be a second year running back that's going to be your starter that's going to be a lot of young guys out there and I'm not trying to knock shit or Bruce I'm just going to find a point
- 1:01:32[SPEAKER_02]: you know what would just other things that I've heard from people is that.
- 1:01:37[SPEAKER_02]: Get over there, wait, move here, change the plague, change the protection.
- 1:01:42[SPEAKER_02]: That seemed to be what Shidorah was struggling with last year.
- 1:01:45[SPEAKER_02]: I can't throw him in this offense and go, yeah, they'll get it all figured out.
- 1:01:49[SPEAKER_02]: Now you're setting up Denzel Boston for failure.
- 1:01:52[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to set up a fan and for failure.
- 1:01:55[SPEAKER_02]: You got to remember that when this comes to this decision, I think you're going to need a guy out there that has done it before and knows how to call everything down, get everybody set and know where they're going,
- 1:02:07[SPEAKER_00]: on three of their first four games are tough opponents at Jacksonville at Tampa Bay home to Carolina and then home to Pittsburgh three of those four are going to be tough games but so what we start off one in three I don't like starting off one in three
- 1:02:27[SPEAKER_00]: It does Watson give us a better chance and not be one and three.
- 1:02:29[SPEAKER_00]: I think yes.
- 1:02:30[SPEAKER_00]: And then you've got New York Jets again.
- 1:02:33[SPEAKER_00]: I say there's nine or ten winnable games on this schedule.
- 1:02:37[SPEAKER_00]: And I think nine and eight can win this division.
- 1:02:39[SPEAKER_00]: I really do.
- 1:02:40[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, the issue I have with that is it's not as if we have Joe Flacco.
- 1:02:44[SPEAKER_03]: And that's just an example.
- 1:02:45[SPEAKER_03]: As our backup quarterback right now where you're writing that argument.
- 1:02:47[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, let's get a vet who can learn an offensive playbook in one day.
- 1:02:50[SPEAKER_03]: Sure, let's let him start over shore standards.
- 1:02:52[SPEAKER_03]: We don't have that you're talking about the Sean Watson a guy who hasn't played healthy football but and years and years who struggle to read defenses.
- 1:02:58[SPEAKER_02]: I and I know who's at historically inaccurate and if we're going to bet if we're going to talk about shit or being I know the Sean might be worse and I know you know this and I'm not at all in any way speaking down to you I know you know this.
- 1:03:10[SPEAKER_02]: It's not just about the play though.
- 1:03:12[SPEAKER_02]: It's not just about the can he make this throat.
- 1:03:15[SPEAKER_02]: That has never been the case in a quarterback battle, ever in the history of the game.
- 1:03:20[SPEAKER_02]: A great story.
- 1:03:20[SPEAKER_03]: You think it comes down to Ed probably both a little bit of money and that money.
- 1:03:23[SPEAKER_03]: And foring that to Sean is a better leader of this offense than Chador would.
- 1:03:27[SPEAKER_02]: People got upset when I made this point guys when I talked about Todd Munkin's job secured.
- 1:03:32[SPEAKER_02]: And then go ahead and even coach the game.
- 1:03:34[SPEAKER_02]: You already talking about firewood.
- 1:03:35[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not, but I'm talking about a first time head coach that needs to prove to some people in that building that he knows what he's doing.
- 1:03:42[SPEAKER_02]: and knows how to win games.
- 1:03:44[SPEAKER_02]: It's not this quarterback battle has never been and never will be who throws a better ball.
- 1:03:51[SPEAKER_02]: It's not about that.
- 1:03:52[SPEAKER_02]: That's a part of it sure.
- 1:03:54[SPEAKER_02]: And you wanna order that ranking on the most important thing.
- 1:03:58[SPEAKER_02]: Here's where people are wrong.
- 1:04:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they think that that's number one Bruce and it's not and it's not number one at the point.
- 1:04:06[SPEAKER_00]: And there is absolutely no substitute for experience.
- 1:04:10[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 1:04:10[SPEAKER_00]: And regardless of these last few years of what Watson being heard or suspended and all the nonsense and the baggage, he has still kept, he's got so much more experience than Sanders.
- 1:04:22[SPEAKER_00]: And again, you made a good point about all these other
- 1:04:28[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, it's got to be and you got to get something for the money.
- 1:04:31[SPEAKER_00]: You got you got to what I tried to get something for the money.
- 1:04:35[SPEAKER_00]: I mean it's it's so ludicrous to start Sanders over Watson which and again, I think the team would support having Watson give him the first shot.
- 1:04:46[SPEAKER_02]: give them the shot into Ryan's point.
- 1:04:47[SPEAKER_02]: I think we all kind of expected some, you know, Bruce, unless they get starting wins some games and they're in the hunt.
- 1:04:53[SPEAKER_02]: They're not going to pull, you know, to Sean Watson out of it.
- 1:04:56[SPEAKER_02]: And I think no matter what, and I really do feel this, and it's hard to say, all ways are never ever in anything, but I feel pretty confident in this.
- 1:05:04[SPEAKER_02]: No matter what happens this season, the Browns are drafting a quarterback next year.
- 1:05:08[SPEAKER_02]: First overall,
- 1:05:12[SPEAKER_03]: So if what you're saying is if you're a Shodor Sanders fan, you want nothing more in the world than to Sean Watson to suck because you need Shodor to get in there and if to Sean Watson please hold here, you're drafted in quarterback and Shodor's not even getting a shot.
- 1:05:24[SPEAKER_02]: But here's the problem.
- 1:05:25[SPEAKER_02]: Shodor Sanders fans sometimes aren't Browns fans.
- 1:05:28[SPEAKER_02]: Because you're right.
- 1:05:29[SPEAKER_02]: If you're a Schroer Sanders fan, you'd want to show him lots of the suck, which inevitably is the team sucking, so then you're guy can get it.
- 1:05:34[SPEAKER_00]: And why would you, if that's the problem?
- 1:05:36[SPEAKER_00]: Why would you know, Schroer Sanders fan based on what?
- 1:05:37[SPEAKER_00]: Well, no, I mean, I, I, I, I, what he did it at Colorado?
- 1:05:39[SPEAKER_00]: No, here's where I had Hunter.
- 1:05:40[SPEAKER_00]: That's the reason he was great at Colorado.
- 1:05:41[SPEAKER_00]: We, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we
- 1:05:46[SPEAKER_02]: different right away on this the hunter and he took it to the house.
- 1:05:49[SPEAKER_02]: If anything was equal I'd rather start Shidorr.
- 1:05:52[SPEAKER_02]: I want to see what Shidorr has already.
- 1:05:54[SPEAKER_02]: I'm kind of to Ryan's point.
- 1:05:55[SPEAKER_02]: I know what to Sean Watson is and as far as the potential to hit a lottery ticket on your future franchise quarterback your better option is Shidorr.
- 1:06:04[SPEAKER_02]: Bruce, I love to start Shidorr seniors.
- 1:06:06[SPEAKER_02]: I just know they're not.
- 1:06:07[SPEAKER_02]: Like that's just that's the world that we live in.
- 1:06:09[SPEAKER_03]: I'd much rather start.
- 1:06:10[SPEAKER_03]: You gotta go with the
- 1:06:12[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I'm saying.
- 1:06:13[SPEAKER_03]: I think that that's what Todd's talking about the most important thing at Todd Monk in his first year is winning games.
- 1:06:18[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think so how could to Sean be better for the pro.
- 1:06:23[SPEAKER_03]: I don't take on that if he's not a better quarterback.
- 1:06:25[SPEAKER_03]: You're saying to Sean's a better quarterback or story.
- 1:06:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, based on the prox probably.
- 1:06:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:31[SPEAKER_03]: And that shouldn't even be an argument.
- 1:06:33[SPEAKER_02]: You know, the other thing is we're doing it.
- 1:06:34[SPEAKER_03]: What have you seen out of Sean Watson that makes you think anything less than the first he takes he might be off for the rest of the year.
- 1:06:39[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, the other thing about Shador is, and I don't mean to play.
- 1:06:41[SPEAKER_03]: And he said it himself.
- 1:06:42[SPEAKER_03]: He's going to be running scared thinking about his next thing.
- 1:06:44[SPEAKER_02]: Well, he also did say that he's 100% now for the first time in forever.
- 1:06:48[SPEAKER_02]: I know.
- 1:06:49[SPEAKER_02]: I know.
- 1:06:49[SPEAKER_02]: I know.
- 1:06:50[SPEAKER_02]: I get it.
- 1:06:50[SPEAKER_02]: And now you're turning me into some of these defending the Sean Watson, which I do not want to be in.
- 1:06:54[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not here for that.
- 1:06:55[SPEAKER_02]: But the other thing about Shador is,
- 1:06:56[SPEAKER_02]: did he have some nice throws last year a thousand percent where they magnify because we just got done watching Dylan Gabriel play yes like they'll come on did he look and play like a rookie yeah yes and i'm knocking it where you confess by what he did show that he's our quarterback on the future of course not and it's ludicrous to even say so and let's also learn the NCAA
- 1:07:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well, let's do what the younger members do that some of this comments about Shidorah made by a coach that's not here anymore, and he knew we want to get a bigger anymore.
- 1:07:27[SPEAKER_03]: Bruce, we can move on, but I'm telling you when I get the feeling Shidorah Sanders is going to be our week one starter.
- 1:07:33[SPEAKER_02]: Can I get up now?
- 1:07:33[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know for that.
- 1:07:35[SPEAKER_03]: You can call me crazy, but when it happens, I was saying, all right, okay, sir first.
- 1:07:38[SPEAKER_00]: When it happens, yeah.
- 1:07:40[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, Ryan, what have you been smoking?
- 1:07:43[SPEAKER_00]: Not enough.
- 1:07:43[SPEAKER_02]: Not enough here.
- 1:07:44[SPEAKER_02]: We are.
- 1:07:45[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, to college Ryan, we go.
- 1:07:46[SPEAKER_03]: Let's go.
- 1:07:46[SPEAKER_03]: All right, guys.
- 1:07:47[SPEAKER_03]: The SEC guys, what they really consider leaving the NCAA Bruce.
- 1:07:52[SPEAKER_03]: I was excited to talk about this with you when I heard it commissioner Greg Sanky quote.
- 1:07:56[SPEAKER_03]: I do not believe that this is a leverage point.
- 1:07:58[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's honest communication.
- 1:07:59[SPEAKER_03]: He's talking about those conversations.
- 1:08:01[SPEAKER_03]: He's having within the hierarchy of the SEC Bruce one.
- 1:08:04[SPEAKER_03]: Is this even feasible that the SEC could pull this off in too?
- 1:08:07[SPEAKER_03]: What did he even happen?
- 1:08:08[SPEAKER_03]: Amy, come on, thank you.
- 1:08:10[SPEAKER_03]: What do you do it?
- 1:08:11[SPEAKER_00]: This is a power play because of the big ten.
- 1:08:16[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to have their own SCC championship game and then the rest of the country will compete for the so-called national championship.
- 1:08:22[SPEAKER_00]: How ridiculous is that?
- 1:08:24[SPEAKER_00]: There's no way this is going to happen.
- 1:08:26[SPEAKER_00]: This is leverage for the future.
- 1:08:28[SPEAKER_00]: I think a ties-in-mat with the fact that the SEC was against the expansion to the 2014 playoff, which a big ten was in favor of.
- 1:08:36[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's the problem.
- 1:08:37[SPEAKER_02]: The NCAA has got to play this like this this balance game of not taking off the SEC in the big 10 You're right.
- 1:08:43[SPEAKER_02]: They're not leaving.
- 1:08:44[SPEAKER_02]: They're not going to leave.
- 1:08:46[SPEAKER_02]: You could sit there and see the TV networks.
- 1:08:49[SPEAKER_02]: They're not I'm sure they would pay But they were going to pay the big bucks for all of it because that's what they get with the NCAA now.
- 1:08:56[SPEAKER_02]: Where does the NCAA got a factor into this they got to start getting their own
- 1:09:00[SPEAKER_02]: garbage in line here, too, because you can't forget who butter's your bread here.
- 1:09:05[SPEAKER_02]: You cannot forget who the two are that drive your money.
- 1:09:10[SPEAKER_02]: It is the big 10, and it is the SEC.
- 1:09:13[SPEAKER_02]: It will be that way forever.
- 1:09:16[SPEAKER_02]: It's been that way forever.
- 1:09:18[SPEAKER_02]: It's going I know there were there were worlds at the pack 12 or the new SE was there and things like that You want to try to believe in the ACC Come on now you know back 12 or in other words amount right amount.
- 1:09:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they're gone and this amount of thing now that you have the power teams out of there and in the big ten here We are it's so suit so it's gonna be this this balancing act
- 1:09:37[SPEAKER_02]: is dance if you will between the NCAA and between the SEC.
- 1:09:41[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to hear Tony Petiti and Greg Stanky say this all the time because they just want to keep reminding Mark Aberton the NCAA will leave.
- 1:09:48[SPEAKER_02]: We'll leave one day.
- 1:09:49[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to leave you who believe you at the altar one day and you'll be sorry and you'll be sure.
- 1:09:53[SPEAKER_02]: It's ridiculous.
- 1:09:56[SPEAKER_00]: would have they get a call their SEC champion the national champions I mean how ludicrous is that by the way it won't be long before we are going to be starting the college season at the end of August the first game on Saturday August 29th North Carolina TCU San Jose state at USC September 5th
- 1:10:15[SPEAKER_00]: Ohio State opens up at home against Paul State Boise State at Oregon and interesting game Clemson at LSU Sunday, September 6th, Wisconsin, a Notre Dame at Lambo Field and get this Saturday, September 12th, Oklahoma at Michigan.
- 1:10:30[SPEAKER_00]: Arizona at BYU, BYU is good this year.
- 1:10:33[SPEAKER_00]: Real good.
- 1:10:34[SPEAKER_00]: OSU at Texas.
- 1:10:36[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 1:10:37[SPEAKER_00]: Saturday, September 19th.
- 1:10:38[SPEAKER_00]: LSU at Old Miss.
- 1:10:40[SPEAKER_00]: As far as the rankings are concerned, Indiana could be 5-0 when they visit Nebraska on October 17th.
- 1:10:47[SPEAKER_00]: Then they play Ohio State, then they play Michigan, and then they play U.S.E.
- 1:10:52[SPEAKER_00]: It's not going to be easy for the Hoosiers to repeat, under Signetti.
- 1:10:55[SPEAKER_00]: Michigan has got Penn State, Indiana, Oregon, and Ohio State.
- 1:10:59[SPEAKER_00]: Oregon's got U.S.C.
- 1:11:01[SPEAKER_00]: Ohio State in Michigan, and according to Mark Lawrence, so we're going to be featuring on the show, O.S.U.
- 1:11:07[SPEAKER_00]: number one, Notre Dame number two, our colleague Jack is elated over that.
- 1:11:12[SPEAKER_00]: Do you look at Notre Dame schedule?
- 1:11:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:11:15[SPEAKER_00]: very easily could be undefeated this year and even if they're not they should be even if they're not they're gonna get the benefit of the doubt because of the classic mistake of the committee may not because of my amy but Alabama shouldn't have been in there
- 1:11:31[SPEAKER_02]: Well, and they got it written in, don't they?
- 1:11:32[SPEAKER_02]: They have some contract now that if they finish in the top 12 or whatever that ranking is like they're in.
- 1:11:37[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you're right.
- 1:11:38[SPEAKER_02]: They won't make that mistake again.
- 1:11:40[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's been mistakes in the college football expansion right now, but I think they're starting to get figured out.
- 1:11:44[SPEAKER_02]: And that gets back to the debate about with the expansion.
- 1:11:48[SPEAKER_02]: Is that kind of cannibalized the regular season?
- 1:11:50[SPEAKER_02]: I kind of look at it and hope for the better, like, go play the big games because
- 1:11:55[SPEAKER_00]: You're they're going to be three lost teams that are going to get into the college from a playoff and no one's going to bat an eye about go play Texas the big a hell up a map the biggest problem is these conference championships They're going to they're going to go away what purpose are they serving
- 1:12:11[SPEAKER_00]: Well, money, I mean, yeah, it's just like in basketball, the postseason conference tournaments, what is that?
- 1:12:20[SPEAKER_00]: So, well, let me ask you guys real quick.
- 1:12:22[SPEAKER_03]: What is it such a bad thing if a three-loss team finds it's way too late?
- 1:12:25[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I'm not complaining about it.
- 1:12:26[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not.
- 1:12:28[SPEAKER_02]: I'm all for it.
- 1:12:29[SPEAKER_02]: I know Bruce hates that.
- 1:12:31[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, who are your three losses, too?
- 1:12:34[SPEAKER_02]: Right, obviously that fact is, you can, I'll tell you this, but I need team that I think going to make it, guys, you get one screw up.
- 1:12:42[SPEAKER_02]: You get one.
- 1:12:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:12:44[SPEAKER_02]: And that's when you screw up against a bad team that you weren't supposed to be.
- 1:12:48[SPEAKER_02]: Ohio State loses the taxes in that second game of the year.
- 1:12:52[SPEAKER_02]: It's a loss, yes, but it's not a loss.
- 1:12:54[SPEAKER_02]: Like if Texas goes off and these, now this is important, they go out and they lose a bunch in the SEC and I got a problem.
- 1:13:00[SPEAKER_02]: That's where I'm a child of the BCS.
- 1:13:02[SPEAKER_02]: I love the BCS.
- 1:13:03[SPEAKER_02]: I wish they would just use that for the computer rankings.
- 1:13:05[SPEAKER_02]: It depends who your losses are when you lose to them.
- 1:13:08[SPEAKER_02]: And how you lost it?
- 1:13:09[SPEAKER_00]: I want to joke James Madison to Lane being in Iraq.
- 1:13:11[SPEAKER_00]: You're a go.
- 1:13:12[SPEAKER_00]: And now a Bumble with three losses.
- 1:13:14[SPEAKER_00]: I'm so glad that Indiana I annihilated them in the tournament, but yeah, the conference championships have got to go.
- 1:13:23[SPEAKER_00]: And I think they were a piece of these, these other conferences, the James Madison and the Max of the world, you have to expand.
- 1:13:32[SPEAKER_00]: That's the only way you can do it.
- 1:13:34[SPEAKER_02]: Sure, but I also look at it the conference championships.
- 1:13:36[SPEAKER_02]: They used to be like the first round right because a lot of times the loser of that conference when it was for What it was for now that's where they don't serve a purpose and to these Actually detrimental they could be detrimental.
- 1:13:48[SPEAKER_02]: I agree the I state didn't want to play in that big 10 championship game Couple years ago, you know, they don't want to go they want to
- 1:13:56[SPEAKER_02]: You know, yeah, it's your message to James Madison and to Tulane and it's all those other schools.
- 1:14:00[SPEAKER_02]: BYU, you're like, BYU's got more of a legitimate case.
- 1:14:04[SPEAKER_02]: I think then those other ones, 100% but that's where the NCAA, I'm shocked, I guess I'm not, that they just can't call a spade of Spain and just go, yeah, you don't want to thank you, and they don't want to see what come on.
- 1:14:17[SPEAKER_00]: Let's get it.
- 1:14:17[SPEAKER_00]: I mean at the end of the day.
- 1:14:19[SPEAKER_02]: What what what what do they want?
- 1:14:21[SPEAKER_02]: What is the answer what is the SEC really want?
- 1:14:24[SPEAKER_02]: They want eight of their teams in a 2014 play-off at the end of the day They in the big ten of 24 spots.
- 1:14:32[SPEAKER_02]: They want to take up 14 of armor eight of you know It's generally have a case in that the crime.
- 1:14:37[SPEAKER_02]: You know, they might so then what do you what do you hold then CWA when you hold their feet to the fire?
- 1:14:43[SPEAKER_00]: What is your CWA?
- 1:14:45[SPEAKER_00]: It's a joke
- 1:14:46[SPEAKER_00]: It's been powerless for decades.
- 1:14:48[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, do you hold them and say we want required automatic bits?
- 1:14:54[SPEAKER_00]: No, well, again, do you all do what you can do that as 24 to expand a 24?
- 1:14:58[SPEAKER_00]: And they want to expand it from 2.
- 1:15:00[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want, I don't want 12.
- 1:15:02[SPEAKER_02]: I don't, I, I, I, I ate, make it 8.
- 1:15:05[SPEAKER_02]: That's it.
- 1:15:06[SPEAKER_02]: That's the sweet spot.
- 1:15:06[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to, they're going to a piece to Ryan's alma mater, the Cincinnati's of the world mad.
- 1:15:13[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to a piece to them.
- 1:15:15[SPEAKER_00]: And the only way you can do it is to go to 24.
- 1:15:18[SPEAKER_00]: How can you have both to Lane and James Madison in their dreams?
- 1:15:22[SPEAKER_03]: But you brought up the barricades as a as a as a reference point Bruce because what do you expect Cincinnati those schools to do when you have a guy like Luke Fickle who builds a program up and leaves the first Chancey can to go coach at a big 10-square you go like if you're going to punish these programs by not getting them spots in the playoffs Which maybe they don't deserve you can't get mad at him in that same breath like they don't have a five minute.
- 1:15:44[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a minute the schools.
- 1:15:46[SPEAKER_00]: I know it's right
- 1:15:47[SPEAKER_00]: I made it.
- 1:15:48[SPEAKER_00]: I made it the format and the committee putting these to allowing these teams in where there's other worthy teams that should have been.
- 1:15:54[SPEAKER_00]: There's a couple of SEC teams that deserve to be in their host.
- 1:15:57[SPEAKER_00]: Well, as an older name, last year over James Madison and Dave.
- 1:16:01[SPEAKER_02]: The difference is.
- 1:16:02[SPEAKER_02]: Goodness.
- 1:16:03[SPEAKER_02]: Let's put saying ads up against them.
- 1:16:05[SPEAKER_02]: The difference is in the college basketball tournament.
- 1:16:09[SPEAKER_02]: You can get an upset.
- 1:16:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you don't get that in football.
- 1:16:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that doesn't happen.
- 1:16:14[SPEAKER_00]: Those teams in the, in the, in the bet, that's true.
- 1:16:17[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to get a George Mason every so off.
- 1:16:19[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 1:16:20[SPEAKER_00]: But they're not going to win the national champion.
- 1:16:22[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no, I like it.
- 1:16:24[SPEAKER_00]: And football that these teams will even win one game.
- 1:16:27[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 1:16:27[SPEAKER_02]: And that's where again, at the end of the day, why was James Madison and why was too lame, even in this conversation, because they play in a subpar conference, because they're
- 1:16:40[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, what would fix all that?
- 1:16:42[SPEAKER_02]: The BCS.
- 1:16:44[SPEAKER_02]: Who you played?
- 1:16:45[SPEAKER_02]: How you beat them and who they beat?
- 1:16:47[SPEAKER_00]: Totally an agreement.
- 1:16:48[SPEAKER_00]: Is going to file rankings of the BCS?
- 1:16:51[SPEAKER_02]: I bring it.
- 1:16:52[SPEAKER_02]: Do it.
- 1:16:52[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to go to 24.
- 1:16:53[SPEAKER_00]: But is that going to be political and put in an undefeated domain for the sake of appeasing to those lesser
- 1:17:01[SPEAKER_02]: Why they won't ever do it Bruce is this because you know one year.
- 1:17:05[SPEAKER_02]: It's gonna happen this way Ohio State's eight now a BAM is nine and they go we don't want them playing in the opening You don't even like you mess your numbers up whatever They're gonna have one year where they want to bump this team up to get them away from that team Or you don't want another S you nobody wants to watch SEC SEC games in the first round of the playoffs
- 1:17:24[SPEAKER_02]: Nobody wants to watch too big 10 teeth.
- 1:17:26[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to see Ohio State play Oregon for the third time if they played them in the regular season, big 10 championship game and then oh wait, by the way, and the opening round, but I know it's not a big deal.
- 1:17:36[SPEAKER_00]: And I agree with you there.
- 1:17:38[SPEAKER_02]: but that's unavoidable now because of the expansion of both of the SEC and the Big Ten correct, but it's also, that's where the power of the committee of human input.
- 1:17:49[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just talking about it, if they wouldn't strictly buy the numbers, that's where the one and the hard press to put even Big 12 and ACC teams in.
- 1:17:58[SPEAKER_00]: Right, because of the, all the great teams are in the SEC and the Big Ten.
- 1:18:03[SPEAKER_02]: that that's what I think the lemma that they created themselves 100% and that's where the NCAA they're holding on to the little type of power that they have left which is right they can do what they want you know the committee can do whatever they want they could put whoever they want and they can do rankings however they want.
- 1:18:18[SPEAKER_02]: And I, you know, I'm going to be honest with you, too, overall, they've done a fine job.
- 1:18:23[SPEAKER_02]: You've gotten good national championships, worthy national champions.
- 1:18:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, some opening round games we can sit here and complain a moment about sure.
- 1:18:31[SPEAKER_02]: But for the most part, that committee has gotten it right.
- 1:18:35[SPEAKER_02]: Was Notre Dame going to win the national championship?
- 1:18:37[SPEAKER_00]: Well, but here's where they've deceived the fandom.
- 1:18:43[SPEAKER_00]: Their criteria has always been we want the best two teams in the national championship.
- 1:18:49[SPEAKER_00]: We want the best four teams if we're vying for the national championship.
- 1:18:54[SPEAKER_00]: We want the best 12 teams and that's not the case.
- 1:18:57[SPEAKER_00]: Sure, it's hypocritical and you know, from what they have preached for years, they've gone away from because of wanting to appease these other conferences.
- 1:19:07[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they act like everybody's equal when we know it's not.
- 1:19:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:19:10[SPEAKER_03]: Last thing I want to ask you guys about college football.
- 1:19:12[SPEAKER_03]: Bruce, are you ready to admit that the big ten is better than the SEC?
