- 0:33Speaker 1: We'll do our best to make use my the indoors Man.
- 0:41Speaker 2: What is happening? I'm Rob Lund, Christ Tod, I'm Boo,
- 0:45Speaker 2: and we are the avid indoors Man. Everyone, Hello, Hello,
- 0:51Speaker 2: how are you sir?
- 0:53Speaker 3: Dude? It's been so long now, I know we did
- 0:56Speaker 3: so many that they're caught up right. It's been a minute.
- 1:00Speaker 2: It has been like three full weeks.
- 1:03Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, it's crazy.
- 1:05Speaker 2: It's been nuts. I went to Hawaii for a week. Ah,
- 1:09Speaker 2: how was it? It was incredible. We went there for
- 1:13Speaker 2: Kelsey's fortieth. We were on Maui and Kawhi Kawhi. It
- 1:19Speaker 2: was the first time i'd been there. Straight out of
- 1:22Speaker 2: Jurassic Park. It's like so green, It's almost like a rainforest,
- 1:27Speaker 2: and it really felt like one because it was raining
- 1:29Speaker 2: the entire time we were there. Yeah, but still we
- 1:33Speaker 2: got to see some really beautiful, beautiful things. And we
- 1:37Speaker 2: did the road to Hannah and Maui, which I had
- 1:39Speaker 2: never done.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Oh cool, I heard, that's really cool.
- 1:42Speaker 2: It was really cool. It's it's an all day thing.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Like I didn't know that.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Okay, I didn't either. And the last part of it,
- 1:53Speaker 2: you're like hugging cliff side the whole time and you're
- 1:57Speaker 2: going really slow and it's I was driving, yep, look
- 2:02Speaker 2: at you. Yeah so and it's you know, it's it's
- 2:06Speaker 2: so narrow that like oncoming traffic has to like stop
- 2:11Speaker 2: before you go over a bridge, and like, yeah, so
- 2:14Speaker 2: it's a little It wasn't super relaxing for a lot
- 2:17Speaker 2: of the drive.
- 2:18Speaker 3: I get that, I get that, but beautiful.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Use Oh my gosh, it was incredible. You went on
- 2:24Speaker 2: a big trip I did. I want to hear all
- 2:28Speaker 2: about Malta.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Which was great. Also had some weather stuff. There was
- 2:33Speaker 3: one day, I mean it was it was fairly windy
- 2:36Speaker 3: every day I was there, but there was one day
- 2:38Speaker 3: it got to like seventy mile an hour wind gust.
- 2:41Speaker 2: It was that very windy.
- 2:43Speaker 3: It was. It was pretty crazy. We took her pretty
- 2:48Speaker 3: easy that day. Yeah, I was super surprised. I mean
- 2:53Speaker 3: I'd been to Malta but only in the cruise ship,
- 2:55Speaker 3: so only for like very small you know periods of time. Uh,
- 3:01Speaker 3: beautiful country for hiking, it turns out, I guess it
- 3:05Speaker 3: makes sense because I love a coastal hike, and it's
- 3:08Speaker 3: an island, then you have a lot of coasts. But
- 3:11Speaker 3: I got a ton of fun pictures. I think you
- 3:13Speaker 3: put some did on our Patreon for Patrion even more
- 3:18Speaker 3: than that. Yeah, and I had a great time up
- 3:21Speaker 3: until the last day when I got sick. But you know,
- 3:24Speaker 3: stuff happened.
- 3:25Speaker 2: How are you feeling, By the way, the beginning of
- 3:28Speaker 2: this week it was pretty brutal.
- 3:30Speaker 3: I went to the doctor today to find out if
- 3:33Speaker 3: I was dying, and I'm not. That's so far. So
- 3:36Speaker 3: we're doing pretty good.
- 3:38Speaker 2: So you actually had to go in.
- 3:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I just wanted to check some stuff out and
- 3:43Speaker 3: you know whatever. But everything's good. It's just like general,
- 3:47Speaker 3: like you know, travel stuff. So fine. We survived for
- 3:52Speaker 3: a long ride on the hours, which so nine hours
- 4:02Speaker 3: to Amsterdam and then three hours to Malta. So I
- 4:05Speaker 3: was kind of surprised it was longer than I thought,
- 4:09Speaker 3: but yeah, it really wasn't bad. I had like a
- 4:13Speaker 3: rosy an aisle seed, so it was fine and good
- 4:17Speaker 3: food and whatever, so it is cool. It was fine,
- 4:20Speaker 3: but it was you know, long ish.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Yeah. Sure, Yeah. We got kind of screwed up because
- 4:26Speaker 2: it was a red eye on the way back.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Oh yeah, you said that, so we.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Just didn't sleep first.
- 4:33Speaker 3: I did the red Eye the way there. Yeah, and
- 4:36Speaker 3: that was tough because I went, I don't even know
- 4:38Speaker 3: if I told you this. I did a I got
- 4:41Speaker 3: there on Valentine's Day and I had just been like
- 4:44Speaker 3: randomly searching around, like what's a fun thing to do?
- 4:47Speaker 3: And these comedians were doing a like a comedy Valentine's
- 4:51Speaker 3: Day show, and then they were going to do like
- 4:53Speaker 3: blind date, like the dating game stuff on there, and
- 4:57Speaker 3: it ended up being like the block that I was
- 5:00Speaker 3: staying on. So I was like, I mean, I gotta go. Yeah,
- 5:03Speaker 3: let's go check it out. And I got called on
- 5:06Speaker 3: stage one thing what it was a it was a
- 5:12Speaker 3: whole thing. The gal was not interested in an actual date.
- 5:15Speaker 3: They all like knew each other like from the island
- 5:18Speaker 3: and stuff. But we had a really good time and
- 5:20Speaker 3: I got to meet a bunch of really fun people.
- 5:22Speaker 2: So it is English the main language there. I don't
- 5:24Speaker 2: even know.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Yes, English and Maltese, but everyone spoke English. So it
- 5:30Speaker 3: was super.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Easy as far as that's cool, okay, but.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Yeah, so it was. It was real weird and fun.
- 5:36Speaker 3: But I did all that and then at the end
- 5:39Speaker 3: of that night, I was like, I have been up
- 5:41Speaker 3: for thirty six hours. I will be leaving now, get
- 5:46Speaker 3: out of here.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Wow.
- 5:48Speaker 3: So it was. It was pretty crazy.
- 5:50Speaker 2: That's really fun.
- 5:51Speaker 3: It was fun, man, it was fun trip, for sure.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Very cool.
- 5:53Speaker 3: I've seen a lot of movies. Have you been watching
- 5:56Speaker 3: any film I have been?
- 5:57Speaker 2: Thank you for asking. I got so.
- 6:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:00Speaker 2: That last night in Maui, we needed to waste some time.
- 6:03Speaker 2: We had a weird late night flight from Maui back home,
- 6:08Speaker 2: so we went and saw the new comedic horror film
- 6:13Speaker 2: featuring Dylan O'Brien and Rachel McAdams See This Send Help.
- 6:19Speaker 3: I haven't been able to see this one yet. What
- 6:21Speaker 3: did you think. I wouldn't have seen this in an island.
- 6:24Speaker 2: I know, I know. It looked like the same kind
- 6:27Speaker 2: of scenery. It was crazy. Yeah, dude. It's directed by
- 6:31Speaker 2: Sam Rainy, so there is a bunch of blood, like
- 6:36Speaker 2: a silly amount.
- 6:37Speaker 3: I bet, I bet Kelsey loved that.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's so silly. Yes, the top it becomes funny,
- 6:47Speaker 2: kind of like Tarantino that way.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Yeah, that's kind of nice at.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Least, But yeah, I mean, Kelsey was definitely just watching
- 6:53Speaker 2: it through her you know, fingers over her face. Yeah,
- 6:58Speaker 2: she didn't love those parts. But man, both of the
- 7:02Speaker 2: leads were great. It's pretty funny at times. Rachel McAdams
- 7:09Speaker 2: is wonderful. They did do like a pretty good job
- 7:13Speaker 2: at making her look gross, which seems like it would
- 7:17Speaker 2: be impossible.
- 7:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I was shocked.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Well, you know how a lot of times I'll be like, okay,
- 7:24Speaker 2: the nerdy, ugly chick you just put like and they
- 7:29Speaker 2: put glasses on them and like that's it. But they
- 7:33Speaker 2: actually kind of like they meet her hair like really
- 7:35Speaker 2: greasy and just like like she just didn't like take
- 7:38Speaker 2: care of herself, and so that was interesting. I was
- 7:43Speaker 2: surprised by that that she would even do something like that.
- 7:46Speaker 2: But yeah, I had a bunch of fun with it.
- 7:50Speaker 2: The gross parts were, like I said, a little bit
- 7:53Speaker 2: too much for Kels, but but we still had a
- 7:55Speaker 2: fun time.
- 7:56Speaker 3: It's worth checking out popcorn movie if nothing else.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, I don't know if I'm going to be
- 8:01Speaker 2: eating too much during it because there are some yucky spots.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Oh yeah, but yeah, And I'm a big fan of
- 8:08Speaker 2: Dylan O'Brien. Man.
- 8:10Speaker 3: I was really talented, really good guy, Yeah, really good.
- 8:14Speaker 2: What have you been watching?
- 8:17Speaker 3: I saw on the plane they had a movie called
- 8:21Speaker 3: Sentimental Value, which I was very excited was on a plane, Yes,
- 8:27Speaker 3: you know, because I was a captive audience for it.
- 8:31Speaker 3: This is a great film about I don't know. It's
- 8:36Speaker 3: like it's about family and like art and film and
- 8:43Speaker 3: complicated trauma and stuff.
- 8:45Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 8:46Speaker 3: It's not like a super fun watch necessarily, but I
- 8:51Speaker 3: really enjoyed it. Stale Scarsgard is like the dad, the patriarch,
- 8:55Speaker 3: who is not a very great dad. It's that I think,
- 8:58Speaker 3: have you talked about this film already?
- 9:00Speaker 2: I feel well on our year in Review.
- 9:03Speaker 3: Oh yeah, that's okay. That Renatse is on there and
- 9:08Speaker 3: she's sorry. Yeah, I was super into that inga IBB's
- 9:13Speaker 3: daughter who is her sister. We're not sister. I thought
- 9:18Speaker 3: she was. She did such a good job, I thought.
- 9:21Speaker 3: And then elf Anning is the other like.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Big I was super impressive with her.
- 9:25Speaker 3: She was really great too. Don't get me wrong. I
- 9:28Speaker 3: just really liked this film a lot. It was confusing
- 9:32Speaker 3: at points, but in like kind of a compelling way. Yeah,
- 9:37Speaker 3: I don't know, it was unexpected. I just really liked it.
- 9:40Speaker 3: I totally get why it was nominated for seven million
- 9:43Speaker 3: different awards or whatever, but I really liked it. I
- 9:47Speaker 3: had a good time with it, for sure, so I
- 9:49Speaker 3: was happy to like knock it off the list. And
- 9:51Speaker 3: it was such a fun It was a fun one
- 9:54Speaker 3: to watch, you know, when like you have to be
- 9:56Speaker 3: there and you have to read everything anyway, you know,
- 9:58Speaker 3: kind of deal. So it worked out great for me.
- 10:01Speaker 3: So I really liked it.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I did too. It was a lot and
- 10:07Speaker 2: I kind of compared it to j Kelly just in
- 10:11Speaker 2: the sense that, yeah, it's a guy kind of well
- 10:14Speaker 2: a big actor and kind of having to like go
- 10:17Speaker 2: back and look at like did he make the right priority?
- 10:20Speaker 2: Like did he prioritize the things that he should have
- 10:22Speaker 2: been making priorities?
- 10:23Speaker 3: And yeah, I'm like no, but also what are you
- 10:27Speaker 3: going to you know, such as life. It's definitely a
- 10:31Speaker 3: sadder version of Jake.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Kelly way and just way more dramatic and yeah, for sure.
- 10:37Speaker 3: Yeah, but I like that comparison. Yeah, how about streaming,
- 10:41Speaker 3: I be in streaming, thinks.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Well, while we were on our respective vacations, we lost
- 10:46Speaker 2: a couple of cinematic icons. While I was in Hawaii,
- 10:51Speaker 2: we lost Katherine O'Hara, When you were in Malta, we
- 10:54Speaker 2: lost Robert Duvall. But I realized I had never seen
- 11:00Speaker 2: a cult comedy classic best in show. Oh dude, I'd
- 11:06Speaker 2: seen bits and pieces of it.
- 11:07Speaker 3: I'm surprised you had never seen that.
- 11:09Speaker 2: I was shocked. I'd never seen it all the way through.
- 11:12Speaker 3: I watched that after she passes. Well, yeah, so great.
- 11:16Speaker 2: It was wonderful.
- 11:17Speaker 3: Did you like it?
- 11:18Speaker 2: I mean, I wasn't worried about if I was going
- 11:21Speaker 2: to like it. All the people in it and they're
- 11:24Speaker 2: so young and man, but yeah, I've never seen it
- 11:28Speaker 2: all the way through. It's so funny. Katherina Haarah specifically
- 11:33Speaker 2: in this movie is so funny.
- 11:37Speaker 3: Her whole bit about like everwhere she goes, it's like
- 11:40Speaker 3: a dude she's been with.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Is the best. It's so funny. Clearly has had a
- 11:46Speaker 2: very like promiscuous pass and.
- 11:48Speaker 3: She loves Eugene. Levy so much. Still, like it's so sweet. Still,
- 11:53Speaker 3: I don't know, it's such a funny. I don't know
- 11:56Speaker 3: the line she tells it's so great.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Oh man, it's so good. Yes, So I love that.
- 12:02Speaker 2: And for those who've never seen it, it's a it's
- 12:03Speaker 2: a Christopher Guest mockumentary about people who compete with their
- 12:08Speaker 2: dogs and dog shows. And it's Katherine O'Hara and Eugene
- 12:13Speaker 2: Levy and and Fred Willard, Bob Ballaban, John Michael Higgins,
- 12:19Speaker 2: Parker Posey, Like just all these actors are so funny.
- 12:25Speaker 3: I feel like Jane Lynch.
- 12:26Speaker 2: I didn't say Jane Lynch, Jesus, and she is so funny, yes, dude,
- 12:32Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean I was I was laughing out
- 12:36Speaker 2: loud because it's just so ridiculous and so funny. And
- 12:40Speaker 2: I love when they, you know, can take this pretty
- 12:43Speaker 2: like niche thing and make fun of it. And yeah,
- 12:48Speaker 2: I was talking to actually my barber today about it,
- 12:52Speaker 2: and he was like, you know, it would be pretty
- 12:53Speaker 2: fun he should really go and do like an a
- 12:55Speaker 2: cappella group like documentary. I was like, dude, it.
- 13:00Speaker 3: Would be so funny. Also, did you know because I
- 13:05Speaker 3: only heard this after it must have been talking about
- 13:07Speaker 3: it because after Catherine Hera died, but that was not
- 13:12Speaker 3: so the The Dog Show itself was a thing before
- 13:16Speaker 3: that movie, but it was not televised until after that
- 13:19Speaker 3: movie came out.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Really kind of made The Dog Show like a bigger deal?
- 13:25Speaker 2: Was it like that successful? Because I felt like that
- 13:27Speaker 2: was like a cult comedy classic.
- 13:30Speaker 3: I don't think so. But isn't that just weird though?
- 13:34Speaker 3: To think? I remember like that was a trivia thing
- 13:37Speaker 3: on a radio programmer.
- 13:38Speaker 2: Sure.
- 13:39Speaker 3: I was like, really, yeah, that's pretty wild. I think
- 13:43Speaker 3: that's my favorite of those Christopher guests.
- 13:46Speaker 2: I think it is mine too type movies.
- 13:48Speaker 3: Man, that movie just cracks me up.
- 13:51Speaker 2: It's so funny.
- 13:52Speaker 3: And he goes like, well I got the too left
- 13:53Speaker 3: feet yeah.
- 13:54Speaker 2: And he literally has two left feet, the dumbest, what
- 13:59Speaker 2: the best? It's the best? Yeah, So that was a
- 14:03Speaker 2: delight in That and Waiting for Graffman are on Netflix
- 14:07Speaker 2: right now. And I watched that one as well, so
- 14:09Speaker 2: nice check it out. It's on Netflix. Love it.
- 14:15Speaker 3: I rented from Prime Video. I think a movie you've
- 14:19Speaker 3: seen because I missed it in the theater. I watched
- 14:24Speaker 3: that finally.
- 14:26Speaker 2: Tell me what you thought?
- 14:28Speaker 3: I loved it so deeply. It broke my heart in
- 14:32Speaker 3: the best ways, I guess. Yes, it is such an
- 14:37Speaker 3: emotional movie. I can't even like.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Get over it. I was devastated.
- 14:42Speaker 3: Bro Oh yeah, dude, I was weeping, you know, just
- 14:46Speaker 3: like ugly cry. Jesse Buckley and Paul mescal are both
- 14:52Speaker 3: just like.
- 14:54Speaker 2: So we're just in it, Like.
- 14:55Speaker 3: Are you perfect?
- 14:56Speaker 2: Are you shocked that he was not nominated now at
- 14:59Speaker 2: this point.
- 14:59Speaker 3: Yes, yes, because I remember us talking about that and
- 15:02Speaker 3: I was like, yeah, that is nuts, because what like
- 15:05Speaker 3: he was.
- 15:07Speaker 2: She's my favorite time to win Best Actress for that role.
- 15:11Speaker 3: I think she is like one of our finest actors
- 15:14Speaker 3: we have around right now. I just think she's incredible. Yeah,
- 15:20Speaker 3: but yeah, really good, yeah, all of it. And the
- 15:26Speaker 3: story was such an interesting story overall, and like her
- 15:32Speaker 3: like witchy kind of you know, apothecary kind of stuff
- 15:35Speaker 3: was really cool and I loved it.
- 15:38Speaker 2: And how they shot it too was so beautiful.
- 15:41Speaker 3: Yeah, so many great shots. Yeah, man, yeah, it's it's incredible.
- 15:46Speaker 3: I really loved that movie.
- 15:47Speaker 2: A lot, so good, dude, a lot. Yeah. I'm glad
- 15:52Speaker 2: you saw it.
- 15:54Speaker 3: Me too, me too. I'm rounding out. I feel like
- 15:57Speaker 3: we got to be getting close to Oscar season right
- 15:59Speaker 3: for sure?
- 16:00Speaker 2: It's next month.
- 16:01Speaker 3: So yeah, wow, so we're getting close to seeing them all.
- 16:05Speaker 3: What do you think should we do? If you plug
- 16:06Speaker 3: a ruse?

- 17:31Speaker 3: celebrating it's thirty ninth anniversary. Rob, I'm super excited to
- 17:36Speaker 3: talk about this movie.
- 17:38Speaker 2: It's fortieth.
- 17:41Speaker 3: I'm forty and I was eighty five. Oh yeah, it
- 17:45Speaker 3: will be.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Forty this year. Yeah, you're right, it is forty.
- 17:48Speaker 3: I just want by my own birthday as an idiot.
- 17:52Speaker 3: The movie clearly comes out on my birthday, just like
- 17:55Speaker 3: everything does around me. Rob.
- 17:59Speaker 2: Yeah, hope you feel proud.
- 18:02Speaker 3: I'm ill, so it's good for you. Kno, you're totally right.
- 18:08Speaker 3: It's twenty twenty six, guys, Sure is it's forty Shut up.
- 18:15Speaker 2: I was just like, wait, why are we doing it
- 18:17Speaker 2: on the thirty ninth anniversary? What's happening right now? Now?
- 18:20Speaker 3: You're right. I didn't think about it for even a second. Yeah. Cool, Uh,
- 18:25Speaker 3: it's gonna be fun to talk about that. It sure is.
- 18:29Speaker 3: We got the guy that we talked about all of
- 18:31Speaker 3: our our mid mid to actually all the eighties I
- 18:35Speaker 3: guess eighties comedies.
- 18:37Speaker 2: But early Tom Hanks films.
- 18:40Speaker 3: That's really true. Well, he is the Tom Hanks of
- 18:43Speaker 3: our lives.
- 18:43Speaker 2: I think that's a good point. Everybody likes everybody loves him.
- 18:47Speaker 3: He's got a ton of stories. Everyone has a story
- 18:49Speaker 3: about him. I don't know. Let's bring him in and
- 18:52Speaker 3: talk to him. What's the head as what?
- 18:55Speaker 2: What's a babe?
- 18:57Speaker 4: Hi?
- 18:58Speaker 2: How are you buddy doing well?
- 19:01Speaker 4: Oregon's lovely today?
- 19:03Speaker 3: Oh? Love it? I love Organs lovely every day, isn't it.
- 19:07Speaker 4: Most of the time. But don't tell anyone we're full.
- 19:10Speaker 3: That's fair.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Do not move here.
- 19:13Speaker 3: Don't move here. But you can visit August seventh, eighth
- 19:19Speaker 3: and nine for the Tim and get Away fun right.
- 19:23Speaker 2: Yes, they can go to is.
- 19:26Speaker 3: It Tim Foust music dot Com, where they go for
- 19:28Speaker 3: tickets for that, I think yes, yes, Okay, good, I
- 19:31Speaker 3: didn't check that part.
- 19:32Speaker 2: It's so much fun. Three days, so much fun.
- 19:36Speaker 3: Are we going to be there again?
- 19:37Speaker 4: Rob, we'll see love.
- 19:41Speaker 3: It, love it. It's gonna be so much fun. Gope,
- 19:44Speaker 3: check it out, guys, it'd be great. Are you been
- 19:47Speaker 3: a what's new anything?
- 19:49Speaker 4: Oh?
- 19:50Speaker 2: What's new?
- 19:51Speaker 4: I've got to go on tour with this band? Home
- 19:53Speaker 4: free nice next week? So yeah, bouncing around Florida a lot, Yeah,
- 20:00Speaker 4: Florida warmer climbs.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Yeah, that'll be nice.
- 20:04Speaker 3: That'll be great.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Yeah, we have a bunch of days off next week already. Yeah,
- 20:11Speaker 2: it's gonna be fun.
- 20:13Speaker 3: That's cool. You guys have days off there so many
- 20:16Speaker 3: really interesting you have to do some the Have you
- 20:21Speaker 3: guys ever done the Sawgrass National Park down there?
- 20:25Speaker 2: I only know that Miami ish Okay, I know the
- 20:29Speaker 2: Sawgrass Really cool, of course, Okay, cool.
- 20:32Speaker 3: It's worth going to check out, for sure. Very pretty nice.
- 20:35Speaker 3: It's like an interesting landscape.
- 20:38Speaker 2: Cool.
- 20:38Speaker 3: We don't see here in Minnesota very much for sure.
- 20:40Speaker 3: Well yeah, but that's all I got. You know, those
- 20:45Speaker 3: national parks, they can be hit or miss. Some of
- 20:47Speaker 3: them costs a lot of money. Some can be a
- 20:49Speaker 3: little bit of a money day, which I will say
- 20:56Speaker 3: is still thirty nine, but it is the fortieth anniversary.
- 21:03Speaker 3: I'm not a smart man, But what do you guys think?
- 21:06Speaker 3: Should we just get rid into it? We start talking
- 21:08Speaker 3: a little money pant.
- 21:09Speaker 2: Let's do it.
- 21:12Speaker 4: With a yes, I would.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Young lovers Walter and Anna are house sitting the New
- 21:20Speaker 2: York City apartment owned by Max, Anna's ex husband, who
- 21:25Speaker 2: suddenly decides to toss them out. Needing a new home,
- 21:28Speaker 2: they settle on buying a country estate outside the city,
- 21:32Speaker 2: which is available for a suspiciously low price. It soon
- 21:36Speaker 2: becomes apparent why, as doors fall off their hinges, staircases
- 21:40Speaker 2: come tumbling down, and a bathtub falls through the floor.
- 21:45Speaker 2: The couple's relationship suffers simmerly.
- 21:51Speaker 3: Nice, nice, I like it, Yeah, I like it. Very cool.
- 21:57Speaker 3: Rotten tomatoes. Let's see what they have to say about
- 21:59Speaker 3: this one. Critics have that's coming in at our highest
- 22:02Speaker 3: of the year. I think for sure fifty percent.
- 22:04Speaker 2: It really is, it really is gotta be right, yes,
- 22:08Speaker 2: by by a wide margin.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Weird just bangers this year so far. They're like twenties,
- 22:15Speaker 3: fourteen's sevens. Yeah, it's so fun. Was the eighties. Yeah, man,
- 22:21Speaker 3: audience members had it just a couple of ticks above
- 22:23Speaker 3: that at fifty eight percent, So that's respectable.
- 22:25Speaker 2: That's very surprising me.
- 22:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I thought this was a little more revered. But
- 22:30Speaker 3: perhaps I've said too much. Maybe it's time for us
- 22:32Speaker 3: to talk about what we think. It's time for our.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Hot hot take.
- 22:36Speaker 4: That's a hot take.
- 22:38Speaker 2: That's a hot take.
- 22:39Speaker 3: Oh, oh spicy. Oh, the water is hot from boiling it.
- 22:44Speaker 2: The water's hot, the kitchen's on fire, and there's lots
- 22:47Speaker 2: of that's true's electricity.
- 22:49Speaker 3: I don't know if we'd call it hot, but it
- 22:51Speaker 3: will burn you, yeah, big time. Yeah time, I'll take
- 22:57Speaker 3: I'll go first. I want. I felt like I watched
- 23:01Speaker 3: this movie a lot when I was a kid, and
- 23:03Speaker 3: then upon rewatch now I have not seen it for
- 23:06Speaker 3: years now. I didn't remember hardly anything from this movie
- 23:10Speaker 3: at all. There was a couple set pieces I remembered.
- 23:13Speaker 3: I remember the bathtub and I remember the stairs for sure.
- 23:18Speaker 3: This movie somehow surprised me in how like a rom
- 23:23Speaker 3: comy or like just a relationship ye it is in general,
- 23:28Speaker 3: and also how shticky and like it's very set piece
- 23:32Speaker 3: physical comedy based right like in a very fun way.
- 23:35Speaker 3: They spent a lot of time and a lot of
- 23:37Speaker 3: you know, energy on stunts and stuff. It's really fun.
- 23:40Speaker 3: I really liked it a lot, don't get me wrong,
- 23:42Speaker 3: but I just didn't remember a ton from this actual film,
- 23:46Speaker 3: which I thought was super interesting, and I wouldn't have
- 23:49Speaker 3: thought it before the rewatch that that was going to
- 23:51Speaker 3: be the case. For instance, they start in rio, I
- 23:54Speaker 3: never ever would have remembered that. But I really had
- 23:58Speaker 3: a great time watching this. A lot of good shtick
- 24:01Speaker 3: in it, like I said, some good hoots and hollers,
- 24:06Speaker 3: and as a homeowner now it really it hits different.
- 24:10Speaker 3: I feel like a little bit like, for sure, very relatable.
- 24:14Speaker 3: Number of ways he.
- 24:16Speaker 4: Started costs and just how much.
- 24:20Speaker 3: It's like, oh no, what did you think? You never
- 24:22Speaker 3: even looked at the place? What are you doing? But yeah,
- 24:26Speaker 3: it's just it's wild. And also they fall into the
- 24:31Speaker 3: like relationship trap that I feel like Rob for sure
- 24:34Speaker 3: is going to say, but it's just like, why didn't
- 24:36Speaker 3: she just tell him immediately that she found out she
- 24:39Speaker 3: didn't sleep with him?
- 24:40Speaker 4: Right?
- 24:42Speaker 3: Well, she just talked to one another.
- 24:44Speaker 2: She didn't she couldn't forgive him for not forgiving her. Yeah, okay,
- 24:50Speaker 2: you know, yeah, it's just the principal bukes.
- 24:54Speaker 3: Things are complicated, I guess, but we could try talking
- 24:58Speaker 3: about them. But yeah, I had a super fun time
- 25:01Speaker 3: rewatching this movie. It is that tight, Like I think
- 25:04Speaker 3: it's just over.
- 25:05Speaker 2: Ninety, but I thought it was under ninety, so yeah,
- 25:08Speaker 2: it's it's right there.
- 25:10Speaker 4: Yeah, I think one with the credits.
- 25:12Speaker 3: That's what I looked at, was ninety one with the credits, right,
- 25:15Speaker 3: so it's probably you know, or what eighty four before
- 25:20Speaker 3: that before credits. It was awesome but pretty fast paced,
- 25:24Speaker 3: pretty fun. I had a really good time rewatching it.
- 25:28Speaker 3: And I don't think I have like a hot hot take.
- 25:31Speaker 2: No hot takes, no no ho takes.
- 25:34Speaker 3: I don't know. The contingencies exist for a reason. I'll
- 25:38Speaker 3: say that that's my hot take.
- 25:41Speaker 2: Very hot, buddy, we have a very similar take. Weird,
- 25:48Speaker 2: weird how that works. Yeah, So this was one I
- 25:51Speaker 2: definitely seen it, but I don't think i'd seen it
- 25:55Speaker 2: more than a couple of times. So this felt like
- 25:57Speaker 2: a completely like like watch for me. I didn't remember anything.
- 26:03Speaker 2: It was written by David Geiler, who he definitely had
- 26:08Speaker 2: his most successful year in nineteen eighty six. He wrote
- 26:10Speaker 2: this and Aliens, so Big Year, Big Year for him.
- 26:17Speaker 3: Very similar movies, right, very similar, Yeah, wild and.
- 26:23Speaker 2: Then it's directed by Richard Benjamin. He did a lot
- 26:26Speaker 2: of like this kind of tear movie, like he did
- 26:30Speaker 2: My Stepmother Is an Alien, which I saw back in
- 26:32Speaker 2: the day, which was fun. He did Mermaids with Cher,
- 26:38Speaker 2: so yeah, just kind of like rom comedy, you know,
- 26:41Speaker 2: eighties rom coms. But yeah, there's so much physical comedy
- 26:47Speaker 2: in this, so many hilarious scenes of things falling apart.
- 26:51Speaker 2: It had me like actually laughing out loud a few times,
- 26:54Speaker 2: which was really fun. Tom Hanks and Shelley Long are wonderful.
- 27:00Speaker 2: I was shocked at all of the character actors that
- 27:03Speaker 2: were part of the carpentry crew, a bunch of faces
- 27:07Speaker 2: that I was super familiar with who were just so young.
- 27:10Speaker 2: That was really fun. I thought it held up pretty
- 27:13Speaker 2: well for a comedy in the eighties. Nothing felt like
- 27:17Speaker 2: too offensive, but yeah, just a good time. One more
- 27:22Speaker 2: reason why I adore Tom Hanks. Hot take Shelley Long.
- 27:30Speaker 2: I'm so confused why she's just not like one of
- 27:33Speaker 2: the all time greats. I'm I don't get why she
- 27:37Speaker 2: just completely fell off. She was so good she had,
- 27:42Speaker 2: she had night shifts before this. She had this all
- 27:45Speaker 2: in the middle of cheers and then it felt like
- 27:48Speaker 2: she got out of Cheers and then just maybe did
- 27:51Speaker 2: a couple stinkers and just didn't didn't really stick around. Man.
- 27:56Speaker 3: Well I don't know about stinkers. But she was definitely
- 27:58Speaker 3: in Troup Beverly, which was.
- 28:00Speaker 2: Great, right, I mean we definitely watched that one a lot,
- 28:04Speaker 2: and we watched another one of hers called Hello Again.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Did you ever see that one? No, I don't think
- 28:09Speaker 2: we watched that one a lot, but yeah, and then
- 28:15Speaker 2: she felt like she just kind of disappeared, and she
- 28:18Speaker 2: she did like the the Brady Bunch movies like in
- 28:23Speaker 2: the mid nineties there, but yeah, I just.
- 28:26Speaker 3: Fun roll on Modern Family, she.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Did, like yeah, like however many episodes, but like I
- 28:33Speaker 2: just feel like she should have just been so much
- 28:37Speaker 2: bigger and she was, you know, she had a time
- 28:41Speaker 2: where she was and then yeah, so I feel like
- 28:43Speaker 2: that is.
- 28:44Speaker 3: My hottest take, is like why like so funny, so beautiful,
- 28:48Speaker 3: so great, Why didn't she Yeah, yeah, I hear you.
- 28:51Speaker 2: So that's one great also a kind of a dumb
- 28:56Speaker 2: hot take, but during when he's in the floor and
- 29:00Speaker 2: he can't scream to the permit guy, but then can
- 29:03Speaker 2: clearly scream when she is there. Not great storytelling there,
- 29:09Speaker 2: but my.
- 29:10Speaker 3: Chest is compressed.
- 29:12Speaker 2: Right, But then he's yells for I don't.
- 29:15Speaker 3: Know, you know, he'd had more energy because he you know,
- 29:17Speaker 3: relaxed a bit by the time she got there.
- 29:20Speaker 2: Sure, but it made for a funny scene with the
- 29:22Speaker 2: permit guy. Yeah, but I was like, he better not
- 29:25Speaker 2: yell for her because he can't yet the power of love, right,
- 29:30Speaker 2: He's right, Q Huey lewis right there. So that's my
- 29:36Speaker 2: hot take. A what do you got, buddy?
- 29:39Speaker 4: Well, it's not Tom Hanks's best movie, let's put it
- 29:42Speaker 4: that way. It's his fourth best after The Birds, jo
- 29:47Speaker 4: Versus the Volcano and Big. I think you've seen me
- 29:51Speaker 4: for all those you're Tom Hanks guys. It's always been
- 29:55Speaker 4: my thing, is like, that's that late eighties comedy run
- 29:59Speaker 4: of his is you know, he didn't win the same
- 30:01Speaker 4: amount of oscars for those as some of the stuff later,
- 30:03Speaker 4: but it's it's my favorite stuff to watch of his.
- 30:06Speaker 4: And the chemistry you mentioned, you know, I think anytime
- 30:09Speaker 4: Tom Hanks is on screen with you, there's chemistry. It
- 30:11Speaker 4: feels like and so that's that's always He's just like
- 30:14Speaker 4: a warm blanket I And it's an easy watch, you know.
- 30:19Speaker 4: It's it's physical comedy, which I have a soft spot for,
- 30:22Speaker 4: you know, him running from the bees and falling through
- 30:26Speaker 4: floors and things like that, just you know, doing the
- 30:29Speaker 4: Tom Hanks melt down. It's it's just always hits with me.
- 30:32Speaker 4: So I love that. I love that it tells you
- 30:35Speaker 4: what it is in the title. You know, it's not
- 30:36Speaker 4: like it's pretentious or it's trying to do too much.
- 30:40Speaker 3: It's time to wait for you to guess.
- 30:43Speaker 4: Yeah, here's what it is here it comes.
- 30:46Speaker 2: Yeah, that's awesome. And uh, dude, when you're watching from
- 30:54Speaker 2: the window and you just see him down there with
- 30:56Speaker 2: the bees, just that shot.
- 31:00Speaker 3: So good, so great.
- 31:01Speaker 2: Yes, oh my god, that's great. Yeah, hot take hat
- 31:08Speaker 2: hat take.
- 31:10Speaker 3: Well, let's talk about our favorite acting performance. Shall we
- 31:12Speaker 3: name the dude the dude?
- 31:14Speaker 5: I'm the dude, so that's what you call me, you
- 31:17Speaker 5: know that, or his dude or duder or you know,
- 31:23Speaker 5: el dudo reno. If you're not into the whole brevity thing, Hey,
- 31:26Speaker 5: if you want to go first on.
- 31:27Speaker 4: This one, love too. And it's hard to not have
- 31:31Speaker 4: Tom Hanks there. He's always he's the dude of dudes
- 31:35Speaker 4: in a lot of ways, all those things we just mentioned.
- 31:39Speaker 4: You know, he's just he's fun to watch. You can
- 31:41Speaker 4: always identify with something about what's going on, whether it's
- 31:44Speaker 4: exaggerated up there or not. But yeah, he just he
- 31:48Speaker 4: makes me smile and he just seems like some would
- 31:51Speaker 4: be a fun to hang out with in real life too. Yeah,
- 31:53Speaker 4: I think that's just that's the magic of Tom.
- 31:56Speaker 2: Yeah, agreed, agreed. Yeah, this is his fifth movie. He
- 32:03Speaker 2: was great in it. It's so funny, so charismatic, a
- 32:07Speaker 2: lot of physical comedy. It's pretty clear from this he
- 32:11Speaker 2: was going to be a big name for a long time.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Maybe not a multiple Academy Award winning actor, but at
- 32:16Speaker 2: least a very entertaining actor at the very least. And yeah,
- 32:22Speaker 2: he's just he's one of my favorites of all time.
- 32:25Speaker 3: My favorite thing about him is like when even when
- 32:27Speaker 3: he's being kind of a dick to people, he's still
- 32:31Speaker 3: really likable.
- 32:33Speaker 2: It's impressive.
- 32:34Speaker 3: He can just you just never are not on his side,
- 32:37Speaker 3: I feel like at any point. Yeah, agreed, which is
- 32:40Speaker 3: pretty fun. But yeah, that's a clean sweet for sure. Yeah,
- 32:46Speaker 3: there's lots of other folks.
- 32:47Speaker 2: Should we go and name the Tucciucci?
- 32:51Speaker 3: Hey, would you for this one?
- 32:54Speaker 4: I had a few ideas, but the one that I
- 32:57Speaker 4: think like pound for pound or per minute was Benny
- 33:03Speaker 4: the Kids Star. Sure, he really cracked me up anytime
- 33:07Speaker 4: he's on the screen. He he really held my attention
- 33:10Speaker 4: and it was just such a ridiculous eighties trope. It
- 33:13Speaker 4: felt like, yeah, like it was just comforted in that
- 33:17Speaker 4: way as well, like all right, this is again not
- 33:21Speaker 4: trying to be anything.
- 33:21Speaker 2: It's not.
- 33:22Speaker 4: It's going to exaggerate all these things. And this kid's
- 33:24Speaker 4: just gonna, you know, it's gonna be smoking a cigarette.
- 33:26Speaker 4: He's gonna, you know, be a jerk to everyone, but
- 33:30Speaker 4: you know, with a soft spot too.
- 33:32Speaker 3: And so he was.
- 33:33Speaker 4: He was a favorite of Minus C on the screen,
- 33:35Speaker 4: so he can be my Tucci love that.
- 33:37Speaker 2: That's awesome. Did that kid end up being anybody? I
- 33:40Speaker 2: didn't even really look him up.
- 33:42Speaker 3: Will I did?
- 33:43Speaker 4: Actually was he Ethan?
- 33:45Speaker 2: Is that what you know? He said?
- 33:46Speaker 4: His name was Benny Benny?
- 33:48Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, William Lombardo, Punky Brewster, Oh.
- 33:53Speaker 3: I loved Punky Brewster Imaginary Friends.
- 33:57Speaker 2: That's oh yeah, that was in twenty two, so he's
- 34:00Speaker 2: still trying to do it well, interesting.
- 34:04Speaker 3: Kind of it.
- 34:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:06Speaker 3: Oh, he was in that Dope Thief, which I never
- 34:09Speaker 3: actually saw, but he was in one episode of that Okay, that.
- 34:13Speaker 2: Was that Brian Tyree Henry.
- 34:17Speaker 3: That was the thing. It looked interesting but I never Yeah.
- 34:20Speaker 2: Yeah, interesting. Well that's a fun pick, dude.
- 34:24Speaker 3: Yeah that's great.
- 34:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I was just gonna pick the low
- 34:28Speaker 2: hanging fruit and take Shelley long there kind of had
- 34:32Speaker 2: it my hot take. I just felt like she was
- 34:34Speaker 2: just on this path to just kill it and then
- 34:37Speaker 2: just kind of fell apart. But her comedic timing is wonderful.
- 34:42Speaker 2: She was super cute. Yeah. I thought she was funny,
- 34:46Speaker 2: and she had to do some physical comedy as well,
- 34:50Speaker 2: and yeah, yeah, I just I liked her a lot.
- 34:54Speaker 3: They were perfect together because you liked him when they
- 34:55Speaker 3: were together and when they were like fighting, you know
- 34:58Speaker 3: what I mean, Like it was on both ways, which
- 35:01Speaker 3: was great. I left lout. I'll say that conductor the
- 35:06Speaker 3: Alexander was really great at being just a pretentious prick. Basically.
- 35:16Speaker 3: He was just so funny and annoying and great, So
- 35:20Speaker 3: I liked him.
- 35:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I was just like die Hard. Yeah, right, die hard,
- 35:24Speaker 2: die hard guy, what are you doing here? Crazy?
- 35:29Speaker 3: It was like the only two films he was in probably.
- 35:32Speaker 2: I mean I didn't look up his filmography, but yeah,
- 35:35Speaker 2: I definitely recognize him from that.
- 35:38Speaker 3: Uh and then is I think Jack Nitman was the
- 35:43Speaker 3: the guy who sold them the house. I think Josh
- 35:46Speaker 3: Mostel is the actor. And that was fun to see
- 35:50Speaker 3: him and it took me a second to realize who
- 35:52Speaker 3: it was. But he was from Billy Madison. Yeah, yeah,
- 35:55Speaker 3: city slickers he's into right, So he had a nice little.
- 35:59Speaker 2: Run in the He's done a bunch of stuff. Joe
- 36:02Speaker 2: Montanna had kind of a small role there. I like,
- 36:09Speaker 2: they have Yakov Smyrnov credited so high and he's in
- 36:13Speaker 2: it for about three seconds.
- 36:15Speaker 3: Yeah. I was trying to even figure out who the
- 36:17Speaker 3: heck he was.
- 36:18Speaker 2: He was a guy that walks into the bedroom. Yeah,
- 36:23Speaker 2: and like he isn't he's still in Branson performing abe,
- 36:27Speaker 2: I'm pretty.
- 36:28Speaker 4: Sure he is.
- 36:30Speaker 2: Yeah, wow, so that guy is still doing it.
- 36:33Speaker 3: That's amazing, which is super huge.
- 36:36Speaker 2: Back then too, right, So I was surprised he was
- 36:39Speaker 2: such a small part of this, especially being credited so high.
- 36:44Speaker 2: H the one that blew me away and I could
- 36:46Speaker 2: tell just from his voice in the ambulance the paramedic
- 36:50Speaker 2: is Wendell Pierce, which was really fun.
- 36:53Speaker 3: Wasn't that nuts?
- 36:55Speaker 2: Yeah? I was like whoa, yeah, dude. Uh. And same
- 37:00Speaker 2: with Frankie Faison and Jake Steinfeld and Michael Jeter and
- 37:05Speaker 2: Mike Starr, all those guys in the carpentry crew. That
- 37:09Speaker 2: was really fun. Crazy yeah, but those were those were
- 37:16Speaker 2: all of them.
- 37:16Speaker 3: I think Joe Mantana was in Airheads. That was definitely
- 37:20Speaker 3: what I know. Yeah, he was the radio guy.
- 37:23Speaker 2: I don't know, but mister, yeah, it was all crazy.
- 37:33Speaker 2: I wonder if you can see Airheads? Did you ever
- 37:35Speaker 2: hear about that? Abe? We were going to do an
- 37:37Speaker 2: episode on Airheads and then uh we looked up like
- 37:41Speaker 2: where it was streaming, and it's nowhere to be streamed,
- 37:44Speaker 2: or at least it wasn't on its anniversary.
- 37:47Speaker 3: Upset.
- 37:47Speaker 2: Wow, We're like, I think they're just going to start
- 37:50Speaker 2: like deleting movies.
- 37:52Speaker 3: Which you can rent or buy it on Amazon.
- 37:55Speaker 2: Now you can. Let's ask, oh great, you couldn't back
- 37:59Speaker 2: when we try to do it.
- 38:00Speaker 3: We could do anything before. I'm not going to verify
- 38:04Speaker 3: it right the second But that's cool. That would be
- 38:06Speaker 3: exciting because I love that film. Yeah, it's so dumb
- 38:10Speaker 3: and great.
- 38:12Speaker 2: Rangers, right, did you just plural pluralize the lone Ranger? Yeah,
- 38:23Speaker 2: well that's fine. When we talk about some of our
- 38:25Speaker 2: favorite scenes, let's choose the dingus.
- 38:29Speaker 4: Soda is quite simple, really ingus Dingus.
- 38:33Speaker 3: I can talk about my dingus all night long. Hey,
- 38:36Speaker 3: what you got for your favorite scene?
- 38:39Speaker 4: Oh, I gotta pick one when the stairway collapses. Yeah,
- 38:45Speaker 4: he's hanging there and she's running around with the raccoon
- 38:48Speaker 4: on her back, that raccoon about the raccoon steps on
- 38:54Speaker 4: his hand, he grabs a hand, she steps on fall.
- 38:57Speaker 4: It's just like it's just like haul Fame America's funny
- 39:01Speaker 4: some videos right there, Just that that total physical humor
- 39:05Speaker 4: and Tom Hanks at his goofiest and yeah, it kind
- 39:08Speaker 4: of sums up the movie for me there.
- 39:10Speaker 3: Yeah too that they have that over headshot of him
- 39:13Speaker 3: falling and then they just stick with it for a
- 39:15Speaker 3: second too.
- 39:16Speaker 4: Yeah, very cinematic composition.
- 39:19Speaker 2: Yeah, it's so great, dude. In that raccoon, it had
- 39:23Speaker 2: some weight to it that seemed like a real raccoon.
- 39:26Speaker 3: I agree, I was scared everybody involved.
- 39:30Speaker 2: That was fun intense, Yeah, man, I mean all of
- 39:34Speaker 2: my favorite parts are when things were crumbling around them.
- 39:41Speaker 2: I think the uh, the ridiculous laugh that happens after
- 39:45Speaker 2: the tub goes through the floor, where he just laughs
- 39:47Speaker 2: for like ten full seconds is pretty amazing.
- 39:54Speaker 3: So great. Yeah, the whole kitchen scene leading into that
- 39:58Speaker 3: is so fun. Turkey flying and ye all so great.
- 40:05Speaker 2: But yeah, and he had been trying to get this
- 40:07Speaker 2: water up there forever and they finally get the water
- 40:10Speaker 2: put into the tub and then the tub just go
- 40:13Speaker 2: and uh yeah, I laughed pretty hard at that.
- 40:17Speaker 3: It was pretty great, so funny. Love that. Those are
- 40:21Speaker 3: both awesome. I also picked the like where the scaffolding
- 40:25Speaker 3: on the side of the house starts to go down.
- 40:27Speaker 3: There's like that whole reaction to Grup Goldberg situation, right
- 40:31Speaker 3: that happens with all the stuff falling into other things,
- 40:34Speaker 3: amazing the workers and stuff all like it's just so great.
- 40:38Speaker 3: And again, they must have put some serious time and
- 40:41Speaker 3: money into filming those, like for sure, right they would
- 40:45Speaker 3: have to.
- 40:46Speaker 4: They take their time with it too, like it it's
- 40:49Speaker 4: a lot.
- 40:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I want to see what was the budget for
- 40:52Speaker 3: this movie, because.
- 40:53Speaker 2: Yeah, that would have taken a long time and it's
- 40:56Speaker 2: just a half million.
- 40:57Speaker 3: Oh okay, and they may at almost forty.
- 41:02Speaker 2: But yeah, the unplugging of the coffee maker or whatever,
- 41:07Speaker 2: and then it makes the saw stop and then they
- 41:10Speaker 2: plug it back in it starts going and just like
- 41:12Speaker 2: all of that. It was so much fun, dude, And
- 41:15Speaker 2: then he ends up in that fountain and ends up
- 41:19Speaker 2: getting peed on.
- 41:20Speaker 3: And when he takes that step, like he really committed
- 41:23Speaker 3: to taking the step onto the plank that wasn't there,
- 41:26Speaker 3: Like he really went for it. It was so good.
- 41:30Speaker 2: Yeah, that's way up there for me. That was so
- 41:32Speaker 2: much fun to watch.
- 41:35Speaker 3: They're all so funny though.
- 41:36Speaker 2: Yeah. I loved being stuck in the floor. That was
- 41:41Speaker 2: a great bit.
- 41:42Speaker 3: Yeah. I liked when he couldn't yell. That was fun.
- 41:46Speaker 2: But then he could yell, but then.
- 41:49Speaker 3: Because of the power.
- 41:53Speaker 2: But yeah, he's just saying.
- 41:56Speaker 3: And with the permit guy like that was great. I
- 42:02Speaker 3: was just pissed, so mad, so funny. I have a
- 42:08Speaker 3: quote from him later.
- 42:10Speaker 2: Nice. Do you guys have any other scenes?
- 42:15Speaker 4: You mentioned the turkey one, So when all the electrical
- 42:18Speaker 4: stuff is paying in the kitchen gets shot across the house.
- 42:22Speaker 3: Yeah, that.
- 42:24Speaker 4: Start adding up the cost of that as well too.
- 42:26Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, that was fun just to watch all the
- 42:33Speaker 2: wiring just like start up and you just see it
- 42:36Speaker 2: go all the way around, starts unplugging stuff that it's
- 42:39Speaker 2: getting me. Yeah, right there right. I also really thought
- 42:52Speaker 2: that the giant fight in front of everyone was entertaining,
- 42:56Speaker 2: and how they're going from room to room and everyone
- 42:59Speaker 2: was very involved in it, just gathered directly.
- 43:05Speaker 3: That was fun. I will say to the little the
- 43:08Speaker 3: little chair of statue that that peed out the water
- 43:12Speaker 3: source of water. That's just a fun bit.
- 43:14Speaker 2: That's good. That's that's good stuff.
- 43:19Speaker 3: Fun.
- 43:20Speaker 2: Yeah, thos, I have though nice Well, if we if
- 43:25Speaker 2: we had to pick one, I'd probably do a couple.
- 43:28Speaker 2: I would say the bathtub, the staircase.
- 43:33Speaker 3: It's got to be either the bathtub or the staircase.
- 43:35Speaker 2: I think we should duel it up then just make.
- 43:39Speaker 3: That sounds great?
- 43:40Speaker 4: You like it, duling love it?
- 43:44Speaker 3: I love it? Well, very cool. Let's go talk about
- 43:47Speaker 3: some of our favorite quotes. It's time to show me
- 43:50Speaker 3: the money show. Maybe you want to start us with
- 43:59Speaker 3: some quote.
- 44:02Speaker 4: Well, the first one I noticed and it stuck with me,
- 44:04Speaker 4: is when they're heading to the house and a train's coming,
- 44:10Speaker 4: and Walter Tom says, this has got to be an
- 44:14Speaker 4: omen like in an excited way, and it is just
- 44:17Speaker 4: so over the top and just you know, blows their
- 44:20Speaker 4: hair back and you know, just kind of destroys the mood.
- 44:23Speaker 4: And so that that was great, very heavy handed. We
- 44:32Speaker 4: have very weak trees after the and he just goes
- 44:42Speaker 4: to carve her name in there the Romantic and the
- 44:45Speaker 4: tree just falls over and then I mean it's not
- 44:53Speaker 4: quite a quote, but his laughing freak out is just
- 44:57Speaker 4: such a hilarious like just keeps getting funnier and he
- 45:00Speaker 4: keeps adding new laughs to it. And I would love
- 45:03Speaker 4: to see like the extended directors cut or all the
- 45:07Speaker 4: different versions of that, because you know that there was
- 45:09Speaker 4: more to it too.
- 45:10Speaker 3: Yes, he's doing the like inhale laugh at one point.
- 45:14Speaker 2: Yes, so good.
- 45:18Speaker 3: Maybe I'll cut just that laugh part and put it
- 45:21Speaker 3: in here some.
- 45:22Speaker 2: Move fun yeah do.
- 45:24Speaker 6: It doesn't need a soundboard of all those different.
- 45:56Speaker 2: Like yeah laughs. Yeah, it is great. I loved the
- 46:02Speaker 2: running bit of you testing missiles here or what. I
- 46:06Speaker 2: enjoyed that that was said three separate times when the
- 46:13Speaker 2: little cherub from the fountain isn't like peeing doesn't have
- 46:19Speaker 2: like a steady stream, you just like prostate troubles. Really
- 46:23Speaker 2: enjoyed that.
- 46:26Speaker 3: That joke will always work on me in every setup
- 46:30Speaker 3: that's ever been, I've laughed at it for sure.
- 46:36Speaker 2: Oh when they're fighting, she says, you're so much less
- 46:40Speaker 2: attractive when I'm sober, and he said, thank goodness, it's
- 46:44Speaker 2: not that often. I enjoyed that. And then she really
- 46:49Speaker 2: screams out, which is fun. Well, the turkey's done, so's
- 46:55Speaker 2: the kitchen. Actually it's a little overdone for my taste.
- 46:59Speaker 2: Let's not go there again. And he's all shell shocked.
- 47:04Speaker 2: That was a good bit. Why don't you say some bugs?
- 47:09Speaker 3: As the the permit guys walking away, he goes, this
- 47:13Speaker 3: is it, you duck fart? That was pretty fun like
- 47:18Speaker 3: that a lot. Oh really a brother who's a carpenter.
- 47:24Speaker 3: I guess so. And then Shelley Long goes, do you
- 47:26Speaker 3: think I should sleep with him? And he goes, maybe
- 47:29Speaker 3: just this one time, I mean just this one time. Yeah,
- 47:32Speaker 3: that was pretty fun together, you know, like they're taking
- 47:37Speaker 3: this on together. I'll also love when they first come
- 47:41Speaker 3: in and are getting kicked out of their nice place
- 47:44Speaker 3: in the city. He's like to goes, oh well wait, wait,
- 47:48Speaker 3: wait a minute, this is no big deal. If it's
- 47:49Speaker 3: his apartment, then we'll leave. That's not a problem. Can
- 47:53Speaker 3: you just give us a minute please, And he closes
- 47:54Speaker 3: the doors and he just goes, what are we gonna do?
- 47:59Speaker 2: Way over the top.
- 48:00Speaker 3: Yeah, it's so good. I love that. That was really
- 48:04Speaker 3: really funny. And then when she's talking about the pool
- 48:09Speaker 3: boy and all that stuff, and he's like, by the way,
- 48:12Speaker 3: you have the most beautifully kept pool I've ever seen.
- 48:15Speaker 2: And she gets off upset. Well, yeah, because her husband
- 48:20Speaker 2: was Hitler's pool boy. Wasn't that the bit? Yes?
- 48:23Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, and that is fun that the they're at
- 48:29Speaker 3: the end as well selling it to his dad.
- 48:31Speaker 2: Yeah whatever, Yeah, that's a good, good callback.
- 48:35Speaker 3: Yeah. What other quotes did you guess have?
- 48:40Speaker 2: I didn't have a lot of Did you have any more?
- 48:43Speaker 4: The only one that I had I had written down
- 48:45Speaker 4: was speaking of sleeping with contractors as the sleezy carpenter
- 48:49Speaker 4: Joe Montagnan. As he's walking off, he says, good news,
- 48:51Speaker 4: you won't have to sleep with him. Yeah, he kind
- 48:55Speaker 4: of smoothed over with him.
- 48:56Speaker 2: Yeah, great, I love that. The only other ones I
- 49:00Speaker 2: had is Tom Hanks is like what is Maxcott that
- 49:04Speaker 2: I haven't got? She's like Walls, all right, all right,
- 49:10Speaker 2: all right.
- 49:12Speaker 3: I thought this was funny, just being you know, sort
- 49:15Speaker 3: of adjacent to the show business gang. But when he's
- 49:18Speaker 3: like that guy comes up to him at the beginning
- 49:20Speaker 3: and he's like, he's like telling him to drop him
- 49:24Speaker 3: or just not pay him. He's like, they're used to
- 49:26Speaker 3: not getting paid. Why would you start? And then DOMS
- 49:29Speaker 3: goes like, Jimmy, you're their manager. Why are you telling
- 49:31Speaker 3: me this? And he goes because I like you more
- 49:34Speaker 3: than I like them. He's like, but they're your brother
- 49:36Speaker 3: and sister.
- 49:37Speaker 2: Yeah, that's good.
- 49:40Speaker 4: Nice for all the ones I have.
- 49:41Speaker 2: Yeah, well then let's uh, let's keep on going and
- 49:46Speaker 2: always abuse move who moments already it is wow, more
- 49:52Speaker 2: than likely zero, but I said possibly two. The one
- 49:58Speaker 2: where when Shelley Long is crying after they have their
- 50:01Speaker 2: big fight, they have like a close up honor and
- 50:06Speaker 2: like the music starts going, and I thought maybe maybe
- 50:09Speaker 2: you might have gotten a teer.
- 50:11Speaker 3: There, like where your head's at.
- 50:13Speaker 2: It didn't get okay. And then then when they decided
- 50:16Speaker 2: to get back together on the staircase, even though you
- 50:19Speaker 2: probably were like, why didn't you just tell tell them
- 50:23Speaker 2: earlier that you didn't sleep with Max.
- 50:25Speaker 3: One hundred percent. That's what I was saying. So I
- 50:27Speaker 3: did not cry.
- 50:28Speaker 2: Yeah, you guys are doing to yourselves.
- 50:31Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, well those would have been the two that
- 50:34Speaker 3: would have got me for sure.
- 50:36Speaker 2: Yeah, those are the two sentimental moments. So we're at
- 50:38Speaker 2: a zero then.
- 50:39Speaker 3: Yeah, this one's a zero for sure, all right?
- 50:41Speaker 2: For cool?
- 50:42Speaker 3: Sure too? You can't cry that quick, No, I definitely can't.
- 50:46Speaker 3: I definitely can't. Let's talk a little movie ter Ribia.
- 50:49Speaker 3: There was just a couple for this one. Uh. The
- 50:52Speaker 3: money Pit house owned by the Ritter family in real life,
- 50:55Speaker 3: was on the market to be sold when the movie
- 50:57Speaker 3: was shooting. That's interesting. During breaks and filming, Tom Hanks
- 51:03Speaker 3: like to drive around in the vintage Lincoln model L
- 51:06Speaker 3: series classic car that's featured in the movie. Bop around
- 51:12Speaker 3: in that. That's pretty fun. This was the first film
- 51:15Speaker 3: that Tom Hanks worked with Steven Spielberg on and I
- 51:19Speaker 3: saw you as a producer on there, Yeah, which I
- 51:22Speaker 3: didn't realize until I saw this. But they obviously did
- 51:26Speaker 3: a few things together.
- 51:27Speaker 4: After that, have they Yeah, And they've been.
- 51:31Speaker 3: Critically panned a little bit, but you know, mostly Okay, sure.
- 51:35Speaker 4: Yeah, I'd say this is definitely like a top forty
- 51:37Speaker 4: Spielberg movie for sure.
- 51:41Speaker 2: Easy easy, easy, easy, easy, top fifty.
- 51:46Speaker 3: For the scene with the bathtub following two floors down
- 51:49Speaker 3: after being filled with water, Tom Hanks does his obnoxious laugh,
- 51:52Speaker 3: which sounds like an imitation of a sea lion that said,
- 51:55Speaker 3: which I thought was funny. This clip of him laughing
- 51:58Speaker 3: is commonly used for the Universal backlot tour when the
- 52:02Speaker 3: tour guides joke with the visitors.
- 52:04Speaker 2: That's pretty great.
- 52:05Speaker 3: That's pretty fun. I like they keep that alive. That's
- 52:08Speaker 3: pretty great.
- 52:08Speaker 4: That's pretty cool.
- 52:11Speaker 2: We have a few days off in Orlando. Are you
- 52:12Speaker 2: going to go and do any of the Universal Disney stuff?
- 52:17Speaker 4: I've been pondering it. It's not a no. And you know,
- 52:22Speaker 4: I'm shopping for some lodging right now for for the Gang,
- 52:25Speaker 4: and there's a lot of stuff in that sort of
- 52:27Speaker 4: quadrant of the city. Chances man.
- 52:31Speaker 2: Yeah, Universe was always my favorite all the movie stuff, obviously.
- 52:35Speaker 3: And they have like a thousand parks now right or something. Yeah.
- 52:38Speaker 2: I haven't been since I was in high school.
- 52:40Speaker 3: So crazy. Yeah, that'll be fun. Actual Hell's Angels from
- 52:46Speaker 3: the Local chapter were portrayed the bikers in this movie.
- 52:53Speaker 2: Follow that one scene when they all come in.
- 52:55Speaker 3: Like that funny actual Hell's Angels parents.
- 52:59Speaker 2: Yeah, that was ridiculous, very silly.
- 53:03Speaker 3: Also, that car was so cool with the lights on
- 53:06Speaker 3: it when he took the cab. Oh yeah, cab with
- 53:10Speaker 3: the like crazy lights that were flashing on it. The
- 53:14Speaker 3: start of principal photography on this picture was delayed due
- 53:17Speaker 3: to Shelley Long's pregnancy. After her daughter Juliana was born,
- 53:21Speaker 3: Long began to work, which included all the physical stunts
- 53:24Speaker 3: and acting that was required. So good for her. She
- 53:27Speaker 3: did a lot on stunts. That's pretty well. The Fountain
- 53:31Speaker 3: of the Little Boy Peeing is a copy of the
- 53:35Speaker 3: It's pronounced mannequin pies, but it looks like man he
- 53:40Speaker 3: can piss is how it looks like it's spelled. But
- 53:44Speaker 3: that is found in Brussels, Belgium, which is a National
- 53:48Speaker 3: monument of the Kingdom of Belgium. That's cool. Do you
- 53:51Speaker 3: ever want to see that little gay?
- 53:53Speaker 2: Uh?
- 53:54Speaker 3: P good? Drink water. The band White Lion performs twice
- 53:58Speaker 3: in this movie, with a lineup that was before their
- 54:01Speaker 3: debut album, and the bass player joined Black Sabbath between
- 54:06Speaker 3: this movie and White Lion's first album.
- 54:08Speaker 2: So that's I know, a black Sabbath.
- 54:10Speaker 3: That's pretty people know White Lion, right, maybe he probably does.
- 54:15Speaker 4: Yeah, I remember there were they had an MPTV presence.
- 54:17Speaker 2: Back in the day.
- 54:18Speaker 3: Nice. Nice. So that's pretty crazy. Like before their debut
- 54:22Speaker 3: album they were in a movie and switched members.
- 54:27Speaker 2: Yeah, that's nuts, pretty wild.
- 54:30Speaker 3: That was all the trivia I had, though.
- 54:33Speaker 2: I couldn't find anything else. I didn't see anything about
- 54:35Speaker 2: other actors.
- 54:36Speaker 3: There wasn't a lot, was there for sure?
- 54:38Speaker 2: No.
- 54:38Speaker 3: They were both pretty big names though, so they probably
- 54:40Speaker 3: wanted just them.
- 54:42Speaker 4: I saw Kathleen Turner turned down the le.
- 54:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, she was a big Oh no, I did
- 54:51Speaker 2: see something about that. She didn't want to do Jewel
- 54:53Speaker 2: of the Nile, right, wasn't that part of it?
- 54:57Speaker 3: Oh yeah yeah yeah.
- 55:00Speaker 2: And wanted to try and be in this, I think.
- 55:02Speaker 2: But interesting, she probably would have been good too.
- 55:05Speaker 3: Yeah, probably she was big.
- 55:07Speaker 2: In the eighties.
- 55:08Speaker 3: What do we think about Judgment Day? Will there be
- 55:11Speaker 3: a sequel?
- 55:11Speaker 2: Will there be a sequel?
- 55:14Speaker 4: No?
- 55:15Speaker 2: Probably now you can dream yeah Cury, Yeah, I think
- 55:21Speaker 2: that that training is probably sailed at this point.
- 55:24Speaker 3: But you know, also, who can afford to buy a
- 55:29Speaker 3: house now anyway, right, even if it is decrepit.
- 55:35Speaker 4: I checked out the the estimate on this house four
- 55:40Speaker 4: point five million right now?
- 55:41Speaker 2: Wow, bro, how much was it going for back then?
- 55:45Speaker 2: I know we got the loan for two hundred thousand.
- 55:47Speaker 2: How much were they Do you remember what they were charging?
- 55:50Speaker 2: I don't remember.
- 55:51Speaker 3: It could be worth a million. I feel like that
- 55:53Speaker 3: was the best I had.
- 55:55Speaker 2: Yeah, but that would be pretty cool if you like,
- 56:00Speaker 2: if you agreed to let a movie shoot at your house,
- 56:03Speaker 2: you know that they're just going to tear it apart,
- 56:06Speaker 2: but then at the end they're going to completely renovate it.
- 56:10Speaker 3: Yeah, why not?
- 56:11Speaker 4: I guess doesn't sound too horrible.

- 56:33Speaker 2: my five favorite actors from a film. When you know
- 56:36Speaker 2: the film you ring in with your name. If you
- 56:38Speaker 2: get it wrong, there's no negative points, but you won't
- 56:40Speaker 2: be able to guess again for that movie. If there
- 56:43Speaker 2: actors' names remaining. You can guess those for a point each.
- 56:47Speaker 2: The other person can steal if you get any of
- 56:49Speaker 2: those names wrong. And all of these films have something
- 56:53Speaker 2: in common. When you know the theme, you can ring
- 56:56Speaker 2: it at anytime for a point. Are we good?
- 57:00Speaker 3: Yes, do it?
