- 1:39Speaker 4: The New Orleans Saints take on the Chicago Bears.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Yeah they did.
- 1:42Speaker 4: Coming up it's going to be in soldier field.
- 1:44Speaker 2: And twenty twenty four rookie QB.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Action Spencer Raler does have more passing yards than Caleb
- 1:51Speaker 3: Williams in case anybody's keeping score at home, more completions
- 1:54Speaker 3: as well, and less interceptions and more attempts. So just
- 1:59Speaker 3: putting that out there, it's going to be a nice
- 2:01Speaker 3: little battle. Dennis Allen, defensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears,
- 2:06Speaker 3: obviously knows this roster pretty well just being the head
- 2:09Speaker 3: coach of the Saints over the last couple of years.
- 2:12Speaker 3: A great opportunity for the Saints, a team and the
- 2:14Speaker 3: Bears that have some momentum after they went to Washington
- 2:18Speaker 3: and found a way to win that game in some
- 2:20Speaker 3: bad weather.
- 2:21Speaker 4: So a lot of storylines coming into this one.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Yeah. I think the Chicago we've been talking about them
- 2:27Speaker 2: for a couple of years. Of course, they have reach
- 2:30Speaker 2: in Eberflus as their head coach. When Kayleb Williams gets drafted,
- 2:34Speaker 2: and you know, I know that Taylor over here, he's
- 2:36Speaker 2: got a real pet peeve about people firing a head
- 2:39Speaker 2: coach the year after they draft a first rounder, a
- 2:42Speaker 2: top pick. But I think we've kind of always known
- 2:46Speaker 2: the talent surrounding. They were one of the few teams
- 2:48Speaker 2: that had a top pick at quarterback that kind of
- 2:51Speaker 2: had the pieces in place for that quarterback to be successful.
- 2:53Speaker 2: A lot of times you see a guy go one
- 2:55Speaker 2: of these top picks and they're just in a bad situation.
- 2:58Speaker 2: The team's not ready for a quarterback, so that they
- 3:03Speaker 2: have all the pieces now, Caleb Williams, say what you
- 3:06Speaker 2: want about him, Say what you want about last year.
- 3:10Speaker 2: The guy's gifted. The guys talented. And I really really
- 3:16Speaker 2: do like their head coach and Ben Johnson. The offense
- 3:18Speaker 2: that he runs. I loved, love, love the defensive Lions
- 3:22Speaker 2: offensive philosophy, their play calling, their schemes, how they're under center,
- 3:26Speaker 2: they're in shotgun they do, They're versatile, they're creative. I
- 3:30Speaker 2: have loved that in the past. So I do think
- 3:33Speaker 2: that they are going to continue to get better and
- 3:35Speaker 2: be a really dangerous team at the back half of
- 3:37Speaker 2: this year. And they do. Like you said, they went
- 3:40Speaker 2: to Washington, they won and a just a nasty game. Uh,
- 3:42Speaker 2: it was it was either team's game to win right there.
- 3:46Speaker 2: You'd like to see Jayden, you had a couple of picks.
- 3:48Speaker 2: I believe in then a fumble at the end one.
- 3:50Speaker 2: It's one of his very few like blemishes in games
- 3:53Speaker 2: like that. But if you can notice on television with
- 3:56Speaker 2: the cameras, the quality of cameras that they use in
- 3:59Speaker 2: the NFL, you can notice the rain and bad weather
- 4:01Speaker 2: on TV, it's extremely bad on the field because most
- 4:05Speaker 2: of the times when it rains, those cameras, you don't
- 4:07Speaker 2: even see the rain. It's so crystal clearly you don't
- 4:09Speaker 2: even see the rain, so you can't tell how bad
- 4:12Speaker 2: it is. So it was really any any team's game
- 4:16Speaker 2: to win on that one, But there's an emotional win
- 4:19Speaker 2: for them, I'm sure. And the Saints, yeah, I mean,
- 4:21Speaker 2: going on the road, they have all the opportunity. I
- 4:25Speaker 2: think it's a Saints team that is playing hard. Maybe
- 4:31Speaker 2: not the talent, the talent top to bottom that the
- 4:33Speaker 2: Chicago Bears have, but a quarterback that's playing really well. Yeah,
- 4:36Speaker 2: I want to see him open it up, take some shots,
- 4:38Speaker 2: take take a maybe take a few more risks here
- 4:40Speaker 2: and there. But it's gonna be a it's gonna be
- 4:43Speaker 2: a good matchup, and I think the I think the
- 4:45Speaker 2: Bears are gonna be sneaky good again towards the last
- 4:48Speaker 2: half of the season. But they do think it's a
- 4:50Speaker 2: winnable game for the Saints. They gotta go on the road,
- 4:52Speaker 2: They got to prove it. They just have to be
- 4:53Speaker 2: able to make the plays that matter when it matters.
- 4:56Speaker 3: I do think Spencer did take some more chances, even
- 4:59Speaker 3: that that ball he threw to Chris Olave. You know,
- 5:03Speaker 3: it's kind of like, hey, I'm gonna give a chance
- 5:06Speaker 3: to my guy to go make a play. And then
- 5:07Speaker 3: Chris Olave made the play, but then came down and
- 5:09Speaker 3: he absolutely fumbled that ball.
- 5:11Speaker 4: That was a catch in a fumble.
- 5:12Speaker 3: They caught it incomplete, But like, that's a chance he
- 5:14Speaker 3: probably didn't take in the first couple of weeks and so,
- 5:17Speaker 3: and you saw him push the ball down the field
- 5:19Speaker 3: certainly more in the last two games than he has before.
- 5:23Speaker 3: But you're right, it's like one of those situations back
- 5:25Speaker 3: when what year would that have been, twenty twenty two
- 5:28Speaker 3: Jayden Daniels where he didn't have any interceptions and Brian kellyes,
- 5:31Speaker 3: like now we kind of want you to throw one
- 5:33Speaker 3: because we want you to take some chances and you
- 5:36Speaker 3: don't have.
- 5:36Speaker 4: To be perfect there.
- 5:37Speaker 3: I do feel like over the last two weeks Spencer
- 5:40Speaker 3: Ratler has and probably because he feels safe for in
- 5:42Speaker 3: his job security, it's probably like, Okay, I can take
- 5:45Speaker 3: that chance now. Now you're not reckless, right, It's just
- 5:48Speaker 3: a chance because it's like a fifty to fifty situation
- 5:50Speaker 3: and you're gonna throw it up to your guy and
- 5:52Speaker 3: allow him to go make a play.
- 5:53Speaker 4: But in the first couple of weeks.
- 5:54Speaker 3: I'm going to assume that he was like, man, if
- 5:56Speaker 3: I throw two interceptions here, I'm have Tyler shuck in
- 5:59Speaker 3: this game real quick, and I don't want that.
- 6:01Speaker 2: And it's just and a couple of plays here or
- 6:03Speaker 2: there changes everybody's kind of view of this, their outlook
- 6:07Speaker 2: on kind of changes that narrative. I think that's the
- 6:10Speaker 2: only narrative out there that would be at least pointing
- 6:14Speaker 2: in the direction of a negative towards his play. Was like, hey,
- 6:17Speaker 2: you know what I think we I know you have
- 6:18Speaker 2: only one interception on the season. I think we want
- 6:21Speaker 2: to kind of take a risk here there at times.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Now it's not every play, and you don't want him
- 6:26Speaker 2: to make a big adjustment in that direction, Like if
- 6:29Speaker 2: he hits one or two more plays in a game
- 6:32Speaker 2: that narrative's changed because I mean you look back at
- 6:35Speaker 2: I mean we used to watch clips and clicks. We
- 6:36Speaker 2: played a lot of common opuements. Watch Drew Brees all
- 6:39Speaker 2: the time. And it was shallacross, shallacross, flare rout, screen
- 6:44Speaker 2: behind the line of scrimmage, screen, shalacross, shalacross, post route, Yeah, gellacross, shalacross,
- 6:50Speaker 2: stick route, go ball like it was. It was that
- 6:53Speaker 2: type of situation. So that that is how the good
- 6:55Speaker 2: quarterbacks operate. That is how they are successful because you
- 6:58Speaker 2: are patient, patient, patient, and then when the opportunity is there,
- 7:02Speaker 2: you take advantage of it. You take advantage of a
- 7:04Speaker 2: mistake that the defense makes. It's not like I'm calling
- 7:07Speaker 2: this play because I want to go deep and I
- 7:09Speaker 2: want to Sometimes you do that when you pass protect
- 7:11Speaker 2: and you have something that you saw on film where okay,
- 7:13Speaker 2: we're gonna occupy the free safety, then we're gonna run
- 7:16Speaker 2: a deep V route with the backside guy. We know
- 7:18Speaker 2: this is a shot play, but most big plays are
- 7:22Speaker 2: not called quote unquote shot plays. They are you run
- 7:26Speaker 2: your offense and you take advantage of a mistake that
- 7:29Speaker 2: the defense makes. But when that happens, you have to
- 7:31Speaker 2: see it and you got to make the play. And
- 7:33Speaker 2: the Saints just have not made that play enough. Now
- 7:36Speaker 2: we saw it more. We certainly saw it more first
- 7:38Speaker 2: play the game this past week. They made the play
- 7:41Speaker 2: that wasn't probably called like we know that this is
- 7:43Speaker 2: gonna be a deep shot, and it was all right,
- 7:45Speaker 2: if it's there, let's take it. If not, shat lacrosse
- 7:49Speaker 2: check down, and I think he's been Maybe the coaching
- 7:53Speaker 2: point is, hey, on these certain situations, on these certain plays,
- 7:57Speaker 2: maybe give it, like just a split second more to
- 8:00Speaker 2: read that safety's momentum. Read that safety he's on his
- 8:04Speaker 2: heels or not the fees you know you read when
- 8:08Speaker 2: you take shots, like you're reading the safety. It's if
- 8:10Speaker 2: they're backpedaling, if they're on their heels, back pedaling like
- 8:12Speaker 2: looking at like a crossing route. And you got a
- 8:15Speaker 2: guy running a post. He's running full speed even if
- 8:18Speaker 2: they are at the same level, and he doesn't look open.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Right now, you gotta say, all right, this guy's open
- 8:23Speaker 2: because my guy's running full speed. The other guy's back pedaling,
- 8:25Speaker 2: so he's open. So maybe give like that type of
- 8:28Speaker 2: read a split second longer so I don't want him
- 8:32Speaker 2: to change much, if anything at all. Yeah, I just
- 8:36Speaker 2: think they got it. They do have to hit those
- 8:38Speaker 2: plays and went in their whole operation of the offense.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Like look, one or two more big plays made in
- 8:43Speaker 2: a game, that narrative is completely cut out.
- 8:46Speaker 3: And I'm sure you enjoyed like him taking this shot
- 8:48Speaker 3: early in the game, because a lot of times that
- 8:51Speaker 3: route is clearing for what you're talking about, like a
- 8:53Speaker 3: shallow cross.
- 8:54Speaker 4: Something coming underneath.
- 8:56Speaker 3: I mean every level of football has that where you
- 8:58Speaker 3: run the rail and here comes shallow cross from the
- 9:00Speaker 3: other side, and the rail is supposed to take the
- 9:02Speaker 3: coverage with them. But if they don't cover the rail,
- 9:05Speaker 3: or if you think the rail route has you know,
- 9:07Speaker 3: a step ahead, take the shot.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:10Speaker 4: Nothing says you can't throw it.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Yeah, even like even most quick games, most quick games
- 9:15Speaker 2: where when you have five eligible receivers, even if it's
- 9:19Speaker 2: a three step drop and we got a slant flat
- 9:21Speaker 2: or a triple slant on one side, or a stick
- 9:24Speaker 2: route which is sticking like a five yard out route. Yeah,
- 9:27Speaker 2: at least there's usually one guy that's going deep. Yeah,
- 9:29Speaker 2: one guy that's running at least a fade route or
- 9:31Speaker 2: a corner route or something like that. So and it's
- 9:34Speaker 2: like alert, alert that if it's normal down a distance
- 9:36Speaker 2: and you got what you want, alert the deep ball.
- 9:38Speaker 2: So at that it's like, okay, well we just said it.
- 9:41Speaker 2: It was a shot play. We had a shot play.
- 9:43Speaker 2: It was a forty five yard game. Awesome first down.
- 9:46Speaker 2: I love how our offense is taking shots now. Well,
- 9:48Speaker 2: in reality, it was a three step drop that we've
- 9:51Speaker 2: already called five times in the game. He just hit
- 9:53Speaker 2: a slant, he hit a stick route, he hit a
- 9:56Speaker 2: flat route, and then they just presented this opportunity. And
- 9:59Speaker 2: I think early in the season a lot of that
- 10:01Speaker 2: didn't present itself because of all the shell coverage that
- 10:05Speaker 2: the Saints were facing. And they're like, I don't think
- 10:07Speaker 2: y'all are talented enough. I don't think y'all are good
- 10:10Speaker 2: enough to go fifteen plays and walk it down the field,
- 10:15Speaker 2: taking three four five yards at a time. I don't
- 10:17Speaker 2: think you can run. I think you're gonna make mistakes,
- 10:19Speaker 2: you're gonna have penalties. And they were kind of right, yeah, right,
- 10:23Speaker 2: they're right, and they just didn't allow I mean, a
- 10:25Speaker 2: defense they don't want you to throw the ball. A
- 10:27Speaker 2: defense doesn't have to let you.
- 10:28Speaker 3: Take and look credit to Spencer Ratler early in those
- 10:31Speaker 3: games because he didn't force the issue. He didn't, you know,
- 10:33Speaker 3: become reckless with the football. But they were gonna make
- 10:36Speaker 3: you prove that you could do something else. And now
- 10:38Speaker 3: that he has you're gonna see some different looks and
- 10:40Speaker 3: you're gonna have the opportunities, and you got to take
- 10:42Speaker 3: those opportunities. And look, if he throws for an interception,
- 10:45Speaker 3: that's fine, right, If he takes those chances and he
- 10:48Speaker 3: throws for one, it's okay. I know he only has
- 10:50Speaker 3: one on the year, But as the playbook opens up,
- 10:52Speaker 3: as the coverage opens up a little bit, you'd like
- 10:54Speaker 3: to see your quarterback go out there and do what
- 10:56Speaker 3: he did. Like last week, there was no checkdown Charlie,
- 11:00Speaker 3: like he was reading it and if it was there,
- 11:02Speaker 3: he was letting it rep. He's taking chances down the sideline.
- 11:05Speaker 3: Some were completed, some were not because the guy graised
- 11:09Speaker 3: your forearm with his hand and it became too much
- 11:13Speaker 3: to catch the football. So I thought last week was
- 11:17Speaker 3: it was a lot of real growth. And look, Spencer's
- 11:19Speaker 3: been the top five in the top five of graded
- 11:22Speaker 3: offensive players for the Saints all year long, but he
- 11:24Speaker 3: was the second highest graded quarterback in the entire NFL
- 11:27Speaker 3: last week, and you could see that on tape, Like
- 11:29Speaker 3: the tape told the story of that grade. And I
- 11:33Speaker 3: think that hopefully has unlocked something with him and within
- 11:37Speaker 3: the offense that they can now play.
- 11:41Speaker 4: A little bit more aggressive. It doesn't have to be
- 11:44Speaker 4: a whole lot, just a little bit.
- 11:45Speaker 3: More aggressive here in this game against Caleb Williams because
- 11:48Speaker 3: Calep's gon to play aggresive because Caleb knows he's the
- 11:50Speaker 3: first overall pick.
- 11:51Speaker 4: He knows he's the guy, and he knows he can
- 11:52Speaker 4: take chances.
- 11:53Speaker 2: And Ben Johnson is gonna take He's a shot taker, yeah,
- 11:56Speaker 2: and he likes to hit you with a running game,
- 11:59Speaker 2: hit you a quick game pass, and then all of
- 12:01Speaker 2: a sudden, we're gonna play action and hit a hit
- 12:03Speaker 2: a deep shot, and we're gonna hit a couple of
- 12:07Speaker 2: reverses up, maybe a reverse pass, a little Philly special line.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Like he's just a guy that does a lot of
- 12:11Speaker 2: those crazy random things and they usually work. He just
- 12:15Speaker 2: times it up really well. But you saw with Spencer Rattler,
- 12:19Speaker 2: you started seeing a little fire come out of him
- 12:21Speaker 2: late in the game, little competitiveness. And I think we
- 12:24Speaker 2: talked about this yesterday with Nick Underhill. It's like that
- 12:27Speaker 2: little ghost, that little little ghost of Tyler Shuck over
- 12:30Speaker 2: his shoulder. I think it's starting to fade away a
- 12:33Speaker 2: little bit. With the better and better he's playing, the
- 12:35Speaker 2: more confident and more you see that, I think, the
- 12:38Speaker 2: more leeway you give him to take charge.
- 12:41Speaker 3: So yeah, all right, let's go ahead and take a break.
- 12:45Speaker 2: I'll be laughing at it.
- 12:45Speaker 4: There life. She got the sneezes over there.
- 12:48Speaker 2: I just keep sneezing, just over and over saying the
- 12:52Speaker 2: ghost of Tyler shuck. I mean, he's still here with us.
- 12:56Speaker 5: He's still with us.
- 12:57Speaker 6: And also we know Spencer bullies and goes to some
- 13:00Speaker 6: degree degree.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Friend of the Show, Spencer Rautler.
- 13:04Speaker 5: Friend of the Show, Spencer Ratler, all.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Right, uh tough questions? Are you ready? No?
- 13:10Speaker 4: Not to take over the float for him?
- 13:13Speaker 2: I think away, We're good, We're good.
- 13:15Speaker 4: I throw it away because he's up. He's up. Get
- 13:19Speaker 4: the box. Here in the box.

- 13:26Speaker 4: Dtrthte you and Dr Atheridge.
- 13:28Speaker 2: How do you ask questions? I don't even know what
- 13:30Speaker 2: to do.
- 13:33Speaker 5: They say, good question for you all the time.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Yeah, good question.
- 13:37Speaker 3: That Actually dr ur is coming into UH to host

- 15:47Speaker 2: that is the second time you played Is that that's
- 15:50Speaker 2: the second time you played Outcast? I go through like
- 15:52Speaker 2: these random outcast kicks where I just listened to Outcasts
- 15:55Speaker 2: for like three weeks and I won't listen to him
- 15:56Speaker 2: for three years.
- 15:57Speaker 5: Yeah, you're so good, all right?
- 16:00Speaker 4: Everybody they're calling.
- 16:01Speaker 2: You, they're calling me. Is that like the great value vers? Okay, well,
- 16:09Speaker 2: fair enough, I'll take that. He's pretty good. All right.
- 16:12Speaker 2: We're here just like we do every single week. We
- 16:16Speaker 2: got LSU team doctor doctor Steven Ethridge joining the show. Doc.
- 16:21Speaker 2: How we doing doing great?
- 16:22Speaker 4: How about yourself?
- 16:23Speaker 2: I'm doing fantastic. Uh you know, just uh Jacob taking
- 16:27Speaker 2: the training wheels off here and we're just gonna roll
- 16:29Speaker 2: right into it. So, yeah, we got a lot of
- 16:32Speaker 2: a lot of injuries out there, a lot of things happening,
- 16:35Speaker 2: nothing specific with with the LSU team, but we've in
- 16:38Speaker 2: college football for sure, there was some uh, some injuries
- 16:42Speaker 2: that kind of took some headlines last week and made
- 16:45Speaker 2: some big difference in the top ten, probably in the
- 16:48Speaker 2: top ten of college football. We of course, the Oklahoma
- 16:52Speaker 2: Sooner quarterback John Mattie are choosing to play after really
- 16:56Speaker 2: just a couple of weeks. I think he thumb injury,
- 16:58Speaker 2: thumb surgery. What did you kind of think of that decision?
- 17:01Speaker 2: It seemed pretty quick that he just kind of got
- 17:04Speaker 2: rushed back there.
- 17:05Speaker 4: Yeah, it felt really fast.
- 17:06Speaker 7: You know, he never want to be critical of anybody's
- 17:07Speaker 7: decisions to how they handle things. But you know, I
- 17:10Speaker 7: think when all of us talked about it, you know,
- 17:12Speaker 7: we knew it was a hand injury. We heard thumb injury.
- 17:15Speaker 7: You know, a lot of the reports that a broken bone.
- 17:17Speaker 7: You know, typically those injuries, whether it's a broken bone,
- 17:20Speaker 7: whether it's a torn ligament, if it's something to requires surgery.
- 17:22Speaker 7: In our experience, you're looking at a few more weeks
- 17:24Speaker 7: than that.
- 17:25Speaker 4: I know, it's a big game.
- 17:26Speaker 7: I'm sure he wanted to play, and I'm not saying
- 17:29Speaker 7: it was it was the wrong decision at the time.
- 17:31Speaker 7: It sure looks like it in hindsight, just the way
- 17:33Speaker 7: he played. You know, you got to assume, you know,
- 17:34Speaker 7: there's certain positions with the thumb injury, and I think
- 17:37Speaker 7: we had talked about this in the past, but you know,
- 17:39Speaker 7: if I'm a defensive lineman, we can put a big,
- 17:41Speaker 7: you know, cast over the hand.
- 17:43Speaker 2: You can club it up, it's a lot easier to play.
- 17:45Speaker 7: But when you're a quarterback as you're throwing hand at
- 17:47Speaker 7: that or wide receiver, it's a little bit of a
- 17:49Speaker 7: different injury.
- 17:50Speaker 2: Yeah, So I remember so when I was my senior year,
- 17:53Speaker 2: I had a high ankle spring, and I remember it
- 17:56Speaker 2: was a big deal to kind of not hide the injury,
- 18:00Speaker 2: but hide the fact like which foot it was, Like,
- 18:02Speaker 2: I remember, we went to very extensive like spat both
- 18:05Speaker 2: feed up the exact same way, because when you have
- 18:08Speaker 2: an injury like that, it's also kind of a big,
- 18:11Speaker 2: big target, a big bullseye for the defense. So as
- 18:13Speaker 2: much as like we want to say it's a you know,
- 18:15Speaker 2: sound a gentleman's game out there, like you're looking for
- 18:17Speaker 2: every advantage you can. I think we talked about it.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Booger McFarlane just like on calling on ESPN was like, oh,
- 18:22Speaker 2: well John Ateer's got a right hand. He's like, if
- 18:23Speaker 2: I'm a defensive lineman, I'm looking for that to step on. Yeah,
- 18:26Speaker 2: So it's like that, it's got to be something that
- 18:28Speaker 2: like ways on the medical staff, the training staff, like
- 18:31Speaker 2: how do you protect it in between plays?
- 18:33Speaker 7: Well, you do your best, like you said, is there
- 18:36Speaker 7: some some gamesmanship or we're gonna try and hide it,
- 18:38Speaker 7: or we're gonna try and downplay whatever. Of course, you
- 18:40Speaker 7: know you're gonna hear that a lot, but but it is.
- 18:42Speaker 7: It is a physical game. You know, you're gonna take
- 18:44Speaker 7: every advantage you can get. And some people don't like
- 18:46Speaker 7: hearing that, you know, for those people who never played
- 18:48Speaker 7: the game or don't understand it's it's it's it's war
- 18:51Speaker 7: out there, you're trying to win. It may seem dirty,
- 18:54Speaker 7: and it really it is dirty, but that's what people
- 18:56Speaker 7: are gonna do. There's gonna be guys. They're gonna try
- 18:57Speaker 7: and grab that thumb and twist it in a pile.
- 18:59Speaker 7: They're gonna step on it, they're gonna kind of roll
- 19:01Speaker 7: over on it. They're gonna do what they can. And
- 19:03Speaker 7: for an injury that that is that acute, you know,
- 19:05Speaker 7: it's something that clearly, in my opinion, affected his play.
- 19:08Speaker 2: And then so do I remember so I think they
- 19:12Speaker 2: were talking about it like game day they had so
- 19:14Speaker 2: he had surgery on it, and it was a pretty
- 19:17Speaker 2: pretty sizable screw that was put into his thumb. And
- 19:20Speaker 2: this is like if you're a quarterback and if it's
- 19:23Speaker 2: our left hand fine like a right hand. That's I mean,
- 19:27Speaker 2: there's no way two weeks post surgery, like what what
- 19:30Speaker 2: what should the normal lead time be like that? And
- 19:33Speaker 2: I know it's different for defensive line. Someone that doesn't
- 19:36Speaker 2: isn't having to use to find motor skills of their
- 19:38Speaker 2: fingers that you can club it up. You can do
- 19:40Speaker 2: stuff like that before a quarterback, for a receiver, for
- 19:42Speaker 2: even a running back that's got to hold onto the
- 19:44Speaker 2: ball and grip it did not fumble. Like what would
- 19:47Speaker 2: your normal like recommendation be we got to sit or
- 19:49Speaker 2: is it more of like, let's see how the rehabs going.
- 19:52Speaker 7: It's a little bit of both. You want to see
- 19:54Speaker 7: the swellings gone down. You want to see that function
- 19:56Speaker 7: is good. So we're gonna look at can you open
- 19:58Speaker 7: and close your hand? Can you grip as your deckst
- 20:00Speaker 7: already there? You know, we look with the thumb, You're
- 20:01Speaker 7: gonna look at opposition strengths. So when you kind of
- 20:03Speaker 7: hold your thumb towards your pink, you're one of your
- 20:05Speaker 7: other fingers is their strength, is their full motion. So
- 20:08Speaker 7: that's what you want to see first. But then you
- 20:10Speaker 7: also want to kind of see, you know, is this
- 20:12Speaker 7: thing healing. You know, you're gonna look for if it's
- 20:14Speaker 7: a broken bone, is there what we call a callus
- 20:16Speaker 7: that's forming. Is there a new bone that's forming around
- 20:18Speaker 7: that fracture site. So you want to know that it's
- 20:20Speaker 7: a stable injury, because even with a screw or some
- 20:22Speaker 7: kind of hardware in there, you still want to see
- 20:24Speaker 7: an injury healing. It's still, especially in some of these
- 20:26Speaker 7: small bones in the hands, it's not like the hardware
- 20:28Speaker 7: is going to be as strong as it might be
- 20:30Speaker 7: another places. You know, we've talked about the high ankles
- 20:32Speaker 7: when we do the tight rope procedures, and that we
- 20:34Speaker 7: know that tightrope holes that ankle together. It's a little
- 20:36Speaker 7: different with these little di bones. You want to see
- 20:38Speaker 7: that they are healing first. So we're looking on an
- 20:40Speaker 7: X ray, we're looking on a CT scan, we're doing
- 20:42Speaker 7: our evaluation, you know, and typically you're looking at a
- 20:46Speaker 7: position like quarterback or wide receiver. You're you're probably looking
- 20:48Speaker 7: at it more like a month, you know, on the
- 20:50Speaker 7: short end. Sure, it's kind of been our experience. Start, yeah,
- 20:54Speaker 7: get started doing that.
- 20:55Speaker 2: So like when when when you have surgery and guys
- 20:57Speaker 2: have like metal put into the when they have screws.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Is that what you want to see as a doctor,
- 21:01Speaker 2: You want to see new bone growth around that.
- 21:04Speaker 7: For a lot of the injuries, again, each location is
- 21:06Speaker 7: a little bit unique, but it's just kind of a
- 21:08Speaker 7: blanket statement.
- 21:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:09Speaker 7: Usually that's part of what we look for. You want
- 21:11Speaker 7: to see that the body is responding, you know, is
- 21:13Speaker 7: there some healing, is there some recovery because even though
- 21:16Speaker 7: the screw is there, if it's a smaller screw, or
- 21:18Speaker 7: if it's in the hand, where's such a small joint,
- 21:20Speaker 7: sometimes you still need a little bit of extra reinforcement there.
- 21:23Speaker 2: Interesting. Okay, So all right, another injury on the NFL level,
- 21:28Speaker 2: or I guess what wasn't an injury, but it made
- 21:30Speaker 2: a lot of headlines. The New York Giants played this
- 21:34Speaker 2: past week and an absolutely electric game, a division game
- 21:39Speaker 2: for them. They got they got two just absolute meathead
- 21:43Speaker 2: rookies playing for them. They got Camp Scatterby. They got
- 21:45Speaker 2: Jackson Dart. Okay, so Jackson Dar's playing great. They are
- 21:49Speaker 2: a moment, they're playing a game about to win, a
- 21:51Speaker 2: game that you know, people are saying they shouldn't win,
- 21:54Speaker 2: and it is in the height of the moment. They
- 21:56Speaker 2: got the ball they're driving, he's playing great, They're up
- 21:58Speaker 2: by I can't remember the score, but it was probably
- 22:00Speaker 2: a one score game at the time, and they need everything,
- 22:03Speaker 2: they need all the bullets they can. Well, he gets hit.
- 22:07Speaker 2: It didn't look like like a crazy hit on the head,
- 22:09Speaker 2: but sometimes like a concussion or something, some sort of
- 22:12Speaker 2: brain injury doesn't always look bad. Sometimes it does, but
- 22:16Speaker 2: on this occasion it didn't. So they rush them off
- 22:18Speaker 2: to the side, They rush them to the tent, and
- 22:20Speaker 2: a ton of controversy coming out of all these people
- 22:23Speaker 2: going to the tent. Brian Dave all trying to rush
- 22:25Speaker 2: them out of the tent. What is Is the tent
- 22:29Speaker 2: a sacred place? Is it a place where not many
- 22:32Speaker 2: people have admission to it? Is the coach normally is
- 22:36Speaker 2: it coach allowed to go into there? Is other players
- 22:37Speaker 2: allowed to go into that tent? What happens in that tent?
- 22:40Speaker 7: Well, well, by design, yeah, it's supposed to be a
- 22:42Speaker 7: little bit of an inclusive areas, supposed to be something
- 22:44Speaker 7: that's private that gives you a little bit of a
- 22:47Speaker 7: sanctuary on the sideline. From the medical standpoint, somewhere we
- 22:49Speaker 7: can go where you don't have the prying eyes of
- 22:52Speaker 7: whether it's the coaching staff, but also you know, the media,
- 22:55Speaker 7: the fans, everybody.
- 22:56Speaker 4: That's part of it.
- 22:57Speaker 7: Part of it is privacy, part of it is dignity,
- 22:58Speaker 7: part of his being able to do a good exam
- 23:00Speaker 7: without that pressure from from what you know, can be
- 23:03Speaker 7: a high pressure situation if you're trying to get a
- 23:05Speaker 7: guy ready to go out.
- 23:06Speaker 4: There with concussions.
- 23:08Speaker 3: Uh.
- 23:08Speaker 7: The NFL has their policy which is similar to everybody.
- 23:11Speaker 7: We all have a policy, but the NFL is is
- 23:13Speaker 7: probably one of the most rigid ones, at least in
- 23:15Speaker 7: American sports, and the tent during concussion protocol by NFL standards.
- 23:20Speaker 7: Part of their league policy is yes, it is a
- 23:24Speaker 7: closed environment. It is basically team physicians, athletic trainers, and
- 23:27Speaker 7: that's pretty much it. So if a coach is coming
- 23:29Speaker 7: in there or even you know, I think Scataboo went
- 23:31Speaker 7: in there just to check on his guy, that technically
- 23:34Speaker 7: is a violation, which but yeah, and I don't know
- 23:38Speaker 7: what the conversation was, but but on the you know,
- 23:40Speaker 7: and and there's a part of me though that gets
- 23:43Speaker 7: that because these are also guys that love each other.
- 23:45Speaker 7: These are guys that you know, I mean, sure, I've
- 23:46Speaker 7: been in the tent plenty of times. We're looking at,
- 23:48Speaker 7: you know, one of the guys. You know, if if
- 23:49Speaker 7: you're in the tent and and you know, Jacob might
- 23:51Speaker 7: comming and say, hey, this is my guy.
- 23:52Speaker 4: Is he okay?
- 23:53Speaker 7: And that's that's just his love, That's that's me showing
- 23:55Speaker 7: my guy. I'm here for you, that's me being there.
- 23:57Speaker 7: So I do, I do have some sympathy in that situation.
- 24:00Speaker 7: And I also get the coaching standpoint. You know, you
- 24:02Speaker 7: don't have a timeline is is this guy gonna be
- 24:03Speaker 7: ready to go in five minutes.
- 24:05Speaker 4: Or do we know? Do you know the answer?
- 24:07Speaker 2: You burn a precious time out right there, right.
- 24:09Speaker 7: And if you know you're gonna get your guy back,
- 24:10Speaker 7: that makes sense, you're like, hey, we're about done here.
- 24:13Speaker 7: But having said that, the policy is the policy, and
- 24:16Speaker 7: the policy in the NFL is that if it is concussion,
- 24:18Speaker 7: if it's head or neck injury, no one else can
- 24:20Speaker 7: come in the tent until the exam is done. And
- 24:23Speaker 7: it is so that there is that not that undue
- 24:25Speaker 7: pressure because you know, I can I can think back
- 24:27Speaker 7: to you know, one of the situations, and this is
- 24:29Speaker 7: one that was a very obvious one, but you know
- 24:31Speaker 7: when when a burrowed you got hit in the UCF game,
- 24:34Speaker 7: everybody thought he had a concussion. I thought he had concussion.
- 24:36Speaker 7: And yeah, and I'm walking out there, and I mean,
- 24:38Speaker 7: I'm going through my head already. I'm like, dang, I'm
- 24:40Speaker 7: gonna have to talk to coach. I'm gonna tell O
- 24:41Speaker 7: that that his guys out and you know, and and
- 24:44Speaker 7: and we had to you know, our our backup was
- 24:45Speaker 7: almost of medical stuff at that point. So we had
- 24:47Speaker 7: a scenario where it was, you know, I'm already prepping
- 24:50Speaker 7: myself for that conversation. Well if he wasn't, he was
- 24:52Speaker 7: clear as a bell. And I mean I did everything
- 24:54Speaker 7: on him twice, and like he's got to have a concussion, right.
- 24:56Speaker 7: But in the NFL, the policy is you're in the tent,
- 25:00Speaker 7: you cannot have anybody else come in the tent until
- 25:02Speaker 7: you are done. And you know, so they may probably
- 25:04Speaker 7: get a fine or I think they can even lose
- 25:05Speaker 7: a draft pick. There's a whole bunch of potential penalties
- 25:08Speaker 7: their policy. Like I said, they have independent neurologist on
- 25:11Speaker 7: the sideline. They have a very rigid policy, and most
- 25:14Speaker 7: of us have a pretty rigid policy with concussions. They're
- 25:16Speaker 7: just slight variabilities from one group to another.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Yeah, and we don't know. I mean, Brian Dabo might
- 25:22Speaker 2: not have even known he was in concussion protocol. You
- 25:24Speaker 2: might have thought it was a shoulder or something like that.
- 25:26Speaker 2: But have you on the sideline have you ever been
- 25:30Speaker 2: absolutely yelled at and undressed by a head coach?
- 25:34Speaker 4: I have not on the sideline.
- 25:35Speaker 7: I've had a couple of players, you know, because one
- 25:38Speaker 7: thing that people have to understand too is an addition
- 25:40Speaker 7: to everything that we're looking at, we have the medical
- 25:42Speaker 7: spotters that are up.
- 25:42Speaker 4: So we have a spotter that's up in the booth.
- 25:44Speaker 7: And there was one time when one of the players
- 25:46Speaker 7: got pretty angry with me because the spotter had called
- 25:48Speaker 7: down and said, hey, you need to check this guy out.
- 25:50Speaker 7: He got hit in the head. And once that call
- 25:52Speaker 7: comes down, we have to check them out. That is
- 25:54Speaker 7: part of our policy is if I get a call
- 25:56Speaker 7: from the spotter, I can't just say, oh, now he's fine.
- 25:58Speaker 7: So I get a call from spotter. If they call
- 25:59Speaker 7: and say, hey, you need to check on Flinn. If
- 26:01Speaker 7: even if you're in the game, we have to pull
- 26:02Speaker 7: you out. If it's for a head injury. I have
- 26:04Speaker 7: to do an evaluation before you go back in. And
- 26:06Speaker 7: I had a guy that was just really really angry,
- 26:09Speaker 7: uh because he'd tell him he's fine, and it is
- 26:10Speaker 7: your fault. Yeah, it was my fault, you know. And
- 26:12Speaker 7: and and you know when he of the moment I
- 26:13Speaker 7: get it motioned adrenaline, he's he's jacked up, you know,
- 26:16Speaker 7: he doesn't want to come out of the game. And
- 26:18Speaker 7: the sad thing is he spent so much time, like
- 26:20Speaker 7: you know, fussing and arguing with us, and you know,
- 26:22Speaker 7: the trainers over there, coaches had to come settle them down.
- 26:24Speaker 7: And finally we do our evau and he was fine,
- 26:25Speaker 7: but we wasted so much time that if you just said, hey,
- 26:28Speaker 7: do the evout would have taken just a few minutes.
- 26:31Speaker 7: Never never had too bad from a coach that there was.
- 26:33Speaker 7: There was an event where we had a pregame because
- 26:36Speaker 7: where the coach is pretty angry because it happened for
- 26:38Speaker 7: the game. Uh, but not really with me, you know.
- 26:41Speaker 7: And I know sometimes he the moment it's like just wait,
- 26:43Speaker 7: we got one in pregame. This guy's going on.
- 26:45Speaker 4: It was crazy.
- 26:46Speaker 7: And so sometimes they get they get animated, they get heated,
- 26:48Speaker 7: they get excited, and I think even in most of
- 26:50Speaker 7: those situations, you understand they're they're trying to get their
- 26:54Speaker 7: head around what's going on, and they're trying to win
- 26:55Speaker 7: a game. And you know, I think We've been pretty
- 26:57Speaker 7: lucky with our coaching staff. I've never felt pressure to
- 27:00Speaker 7: get a guy healthy. I've never felt like I had
- 27:02Speaker 7: to do something to make the coaching staff happy. And
- 27:04Speaker 7: I know that does happen someplaces sometimes.
- 27:07Speaker 2: So with the concussion with the brain injury we see
- 27:09Speaker 2: in the NFL, and I think a lot of people
- 27:11Speaker 2: roll their eyes at this when they see it, But
- 27:12Speaker 2: we've seen a lot of people with the Guardian caps on,
- 27:14Speaker 2: with the logo. A couple of receivers for Green Bay Taylor.
- 27:18Speaker 2: Taylor doesn't like looking at it. Is there good evidence
- 27:23Speaker 2: and research that that improves the safety I'm assuming it does,
- 27:28Speaker 2: Or is a guy that's wearing that somebody that's kind
- 27:30Speaker 2: of predisposed to it, who's had concussions in the path
- 27:32Speaker 2: and should the way Jackson Dart dives into people, should
- 27:35Speaker 2: he wear one?
- 27:36Speaker 7: So the concussion caps, the Guardian caps, there is some
- 27:38Speaker 7: evidence there. It's pretty clear that they do reduce the
- 27:42Speaker 7: risk of concussion that there's a lot of evidence mostly
- 27:45Speaker 7: the NFL does a really good job that they have
- 27:47Speaker 7: a lot of data on head injuries that they have
- 27:49Speaker 7: date on helmets. So just anybody that's looking for a
- 27:52Speaker 7: helmet for your kid, if you want to the best helmets,
- 27:54Speaker 7: you can go to the NFL and they will rate
- 27:55Speaker 7: the helmets from their best all the way down, and
- 27:57Speaker 7: they'll show you the ones that are kind of junk
- 27:58Speaker 7: for preventing concussions. But they've done a lot of research
- 28:01Speaker 7: in the guarding caps. They did it, you know, looking
- 28:02Speaker 7: at looking at practices through camp, they had all the
- 28:04Speaker 7: teams wearing them, looking at the incidents of concussions they
- 28:06Speaker 7: did go down. That's that's why they opened that opportunity. Look,
- 28:09Speaker 7: I agree, I think they're ugly, but you know, you know,
- 28:12Speaker 7: I don't like the look on the one hand, but
- 28:14Speaker 7: but they work. You know, we wear them at practice
- 28:16Speaker 7: at LSU, the guys wearing for practice. If you have
- 28:19Speaker 7: players that want to wear them, pretty much, at least
- 28:21Speaker 7: at most of the hot leagues, they give the guys
- 28:22Speaker 7: the choice. But yeah, if a guy we know is
- 28:24Speaker 7: more more concussion prone, if he's had a few, he'd
- 28:27Speaker 7: probably be a guy. We might say, Hey, you really
- 28:28Speaker 7: want to think about wearing this?
- 28:30Speaker 4: Uh?
- 28:30Speaker 2: Because it does? It does work, all right. Last question,
- 28:33Speaker 2: this one comes from our listeners in the chat. Is
- 28:36Speaker 2: there a cure for cankeles?
- 28:38Speaker 7: Cure for cankles? Yeah, you know, I haven't found one yet.
- 28:42Speaker 7: Haven't found one yet. We'll keep looking.
- 28:44Speaker 2: He's a plastic surgery. I don't know. We'll figure it out.
- 28:46Speaker 2: But Doc, I can't thank you enough. Thanks for joining us,
- 28:48Speaker 2: Doctor Steven at their Jealousy Team. Doctor enjoy the trip
- 28:51Speaker 2: to Nashville. Yeah, would be good one. Have some fun

- 29:17Speaker 2: we're getting close to grilling time. With that weather changing
- 29:20Speaker 2: just a little bit, there's no better time to go
- 29:23Speaker 2: for dose than right now. Do sekis Delicious Mexican lager.
- 29:28Speaker 2: They have the tall green bottles they got the cans,

- 29:37Speaker 2: make sure you're packing that cooler. Make sure you're packing
- 29:39Speaker 2: that fridge with ice cold delicious. Do Scis that's right,
- 29:43Speaker 2: dosequis the beer that turns your tailgate into a celebration
- 29:46Speaker 2: and your postgame into story worth telling. Crisp, refreshing, bold
- 29:50Speaker 2: enough for the big moment, smooth enough to keep them coming,
- 29:53Speaker 2: whether it's a classic Lagger especial or the rich amber
- 29:57Speaker 2: smoothness of Do Skis Amber. You can't go wrong. So
- 29:59Speaker 2: when the crew asked for what's next, you already know.
- 30:01Speaker 2: Go for the taste, go for the moment, Go for dope.
- 30:13Speaker 1: No no no no no no no no no no
- 30:15Speaker 1: no no no. When you feeling in your body found
- 30:36Speaker 1: somebody who makes you change your way from the locker
- 30:41Speaker 1: room to the airwaves, gets off the bench with Jacob
- 30:44Speaker 1: Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 30:46Speaker 4: Get everything in your path, won't let it go up
- 30:49Speaker 4: in there?
- 30:50Speaker 2: Nodded. Then, after all that, all right, welcome back in
- 30:55Speaker 2: off the bench.
- 30:56Speaker 4: Nobody wants to be.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Say you what being on the sho show for a
- 31:00Speaker 2: couple of months. Is really like rekindled my love for
- 31:04Speaker 2: samorro and view music. It's killing. I'm feeling it, filling
- 31:10Speaker 2: all of it all right. I want to tell you
- 31:13Speaker 2: about Pelican Roof. Pelicanroof dot com the best, absolute best
- 31:18Speaker 2: roofing company in Louisiana. Office is in Lafayette and Baton Rouge.
- 31:22Speaker 2: And I do want to tell you about something really
- 31:24Speaker 2: pretty amazing that they're doing. They have a veteran roof giveaway.
- 31:28Speaker 2: Uh they do this every single year. It's something where
- 31:31Speaker 2: you go sign up, you nominate a veteran for an
- 31:35Speaker 2: absolutely free roof, no strings attached, no nothing. And this
- 31:39Speaker 2: is something that Pelican Roof doesn't have to do. They
- 31:42Speaker 2: don't have to do this. But if you want to
- 31:44Speaker 2: nominate someone, someone in your family, someone close to you,
- 31:46Speaker 2: some of the means a lot. Go to their website.
- 31:47Speaker 2: You can go to the community tab right there and
- 31:50Speaker 2: fill out all the information, tell the story. They will
- 31:52Speaker 2: choose somebody a veteran to just give an absolutely someone
- 31:55Speaker 2: Baton roof, someone Lafayette to get absolutely free roof to
- 32:00Speaker 2: pretty amazing. So go there, go see him. And if
- 32:02Speaker 2: you've got a project, any any of your roof. He
- 32:04Speaker 2: needs brand new roof, whatever it is. Give him a call,
- 32:08Speaker 2: go see him pelicanroof dot com. All right, you'll ready
- 32:14Speaker 2: for it? Oh yeah, hell yeah, let's do it. Let's
- 32:17Speaker 2: do it. It's Wednesday. You know what that means?
- 32:18Speaker 5: That floater has me fired up?
- 32:20Speaker 2: Are you?
- 32:20Speaker 5: Yeah? I'm going to Blinds right now. I mean Pelican roofing.
- 32:24Speaker 5: Wait which one did you just do?
- 32:26Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 32:26Speaker 5: I'm going to Pelican.
- 32:29Speaker 4: Would you rather?
- 32:31Speaker 3: Hell?
- 32:31Speaker 4: Yeah, you got one?
- 32:33Speaker 2: Mm? I got one right. We didn't have like a
- 32:35Speaker 2: little sound thing.
- 32:36Speaker 5: We don't have one for that, but I am I
- 32:38Speaker 5: am going to play a song under it.
- 32:39Speaker 2: Okay, we don't like one of those would you other things?
- 32:43Speaker 5: But we got a little song to go under.
- 32:45Speaker 2: What a rookie me? Not you? Yeah? Taylor, go ahead?
- 32:51Speaker 2: All right?
- 32:51Speaker 8: In honor of spooky season, would you rather stay in
- 32:56Speaker 8: a non haunted Hells for an entire weekend or have
- 33:02Speaker 8: to hide from a slasher for an whole weekend?
- 33:07Speaker 5: I basically grew up in a haunted house, so I'm
- 33:09Speaker 5: staying in the haunted house.
- 33:14Speaker 2: Uh yeah, the I have stayed in some haunted houses too.
- 33:18Speaker 2: The place that we stayed at at training camp in
- 33:21Speaker 2: Green Bay Saint Norbert's College that the dorm that we
- 33:24Speaker 2: stayed in was haunted. I stayed in the haunteds place
- 33:26Speaker 2: in Buffalo some kind of like Spencer Rally and to
- 33:29Speaker 2: a certain extent, definitely not the go situation.
- 33:32Speaker 6: I feel like that's when you either have to be
- 33:34Speaker 6: all in on or not though, like I don't know
- 33:36Speaker 6: how you can believe in them and to some degree, yeah, and.
- 33:39Speaker 2: Then from the like so definitely that Like I don't
- 33:41Speaker 2: want to like the chance to get murdered. You don't
- 33:43Speaker 2: think you're gonna get, you know, murdered by ghosts. You
- 33:45Speaker 2: might be get scared. But a slasher, if you're a slasher,
- 33:49Speaker 2: and you get the term slasher like you're pretty, you're
- 33:52Speaker 2: pretty brutal to you're probably a badass, like you're not
- 33:55Speaker 2: you gotta be tough, right, You're not carrying a pocket
- 33:57Speaker 2: knife around. You're more like acts of masshif. Yeah, fake
- 34:00Speaker 2: tough guys are carrying around firearms. But if you're just
- 34:03Speaker 2: a slasher, like you're bad, you're all right. But you
- 34:07Speaker 2: watched some of these slasher movies and the people running
- 34:11Speaker 2: from are pretty dumb. They are in the heat of
- 34:14Speaker 2: the moment, I get it. You make emotional decisions. Your
- 34:16Speaker 2: brain's not thinking correctly, but from the outside looking in,
- 34:20Speaker 2: real dumb decisions.
- 34:22Speaker 5: Very dumb.
- 34:23Speaker 2: Mich he just walks.
- 34:25Speaker 5: Yeah, super fat like.
- 34:27Speaker 2: He got a little bit more magical appears as the
- 34:29Speaker 2: movies went on to get more magical.
- 34:31Speaker 3: The.
- 34:33Speaker 5: More deep into the Halloween series that you.
- 34:36Speaker 2: Get, the more like supernatural.
- 34:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 34:39Speaker 8: I have a theory that Michael Myers actually sprints and
- 34:42Speaker 8: then when people start to turn around, he walks again.
- 34:47Speaker 2: And he's off camera. Bro, he's he's high.
- 34:49Speaker 5: Means, what's like the fastest forty of all time?
- 34:53Speaker 2: Believe bo Jacks. I think I think ran a four
- 34:58Speaker 2: to one.
- 35:00Speaker 6: Michael Myers probably wins or runs like a three five
- 35:03Speaker 6: or something like that.
- 35:04Speaker 2: Yeah, or as like transport like, uh yeah, it's gotta
- 35:12Speaker 2: be kind of really defines physics. But we're all in agree.
- 35:17Speaker 2: In hornted house, Yeah, it's on a house.
- 35:19Speaker 6: Ye.
- 35:21Speaker 8: Would you be more scared in a hanted house that
- 35:23Speaker 8: you'd survive better because it's not gonna happen?
- 35:26Speaker 2: But would you be more scared in the house, But
- 35:28Speaker 2: I'd be terrified for my life?
- 35:30Speaker 3: Right?
- 35:31Speaker 6: Slasher Again, I grew up in a haunted house, So
- 35:35Speaker 6: I haunted ghosts don't bother me.
- 35:37Speaker 2: I've stayed the night here. Yeah, this place is harnted.
- 35:41Speaker 2: So like when I was in the dorm in Green Bay,
- 35:44Speaker 2: like we were, it was there was ghost situations happening,
- 35:47Speaker 2: there's paranormal activity. Many of my close friends witnesses of it,
- 35:52Speaker 2: felt it right. When that situation happens, you know, you
- 35:56Speaker 2: just put the covers over your head, close your eyes,
- 35:59Speaker 2: ignore it, and then you're good. If you just close
- 36:02Speaker 2: your eyes Stareth Wall, what can they do?
- 36:05Speaker 5: But yeah, that's I was gonna say, like, what does
- 36:06Speaker 5: it really matter if there's a ghost or not.
- 36:09Speaker 6: You know, there's just like a spirit here chilling with me,
- 36:13Speaker 6: but it's not gonna do anything to me, so it
- 36:14Speaker 6: doesn't really have an effect on me. So I don't
- 36:16Speaker 6: really care if there's a if a house is haunted.
- 36:19Speaker 6: So yeah, I'm one thousand percent staying in the haunted house.
- 36:21Speaker 2: Okay, here's a good one. Let's stick with a Halloween
- 36:23Speaker 2: theme coming up. Would you rather go to for fun?
- 36:28Speaker 2: Of course, go to a haunted house, a Halloween haunted house,
- 36:31Speaker 2: thirteenth d or whatever, or a really good corn maze?
- 36:34Speaker 2: Is the corn maze also I think like you could
- 36:36Speaker 2: have half of the corn maze where it's family friendly,
- 36:39Speaker 2: half of it haunted.
- 36:40Speaker 5: Then corn maze.
- 36:41Speaker 8: Yeah, corn maze, I'm gonna say corn maze. Corn maze
- 36:43Speaker 8: is more naturally scary. You're outside, it's a nighttime, you
- 36:46Speaker 8: can't really see, like you're trying to navigate your way
- 36:49Speaker 8: through it while being scared.
- 36:50Speaker 2: Like I think, I think a corn maze is like
- 36:52Speaker 2: scary by itself. Yeah, so probably that. Yeah, you can
- 36:56Speaker 2: control the controllables a little bit more there. I feel
- 36:58Speaker 2: like in a haunted house, it's I hadn't been to
- 37:00Speaker 2: hotted house since like ninth grade. I went two weeks ago,
- 37:03Speaker 2: probably weeks ago.
- 37:05Speaker 5: But if we did an OTV Thirteenth Gate and film, I.
- 37:09Speaker 2: Hadn't been to the UH. I hadn't been to the
- 37:11Speaker 2: thirteenth Gate since like, oh college and UH I went
- 37:15Speaker 2: two weeks ago.
- 37:16Speaker 5: Why do I feel like y'all made me go in
- 37:17Speaker 5: the front.
- 37:19Speaker 2: Because we would There used to be a corn maze
- 37:23Speaker 2: in bean Rouge in college that was I don't know
- 37:25Speaker 2: if it was out on Nicholson or was it used
- 37:28Speaker 2: to want to Poured Island right across the bridge. There
- 37:30Speaker 2: was one that wasn't across the bridge. It was maybe
- 37:32Speaker 2: it was like three or four something like that. It
- 37:34Speaker 2: was early on in my college career. Maybe it's out.
- 37:36Speaker 2: I thought it was out on Nicholson and it was
- 37:38Speaker 2: like that. It was like a pretty legit corn maze.
- 37:40Speaker 2: And one side was like just the maze, you'll figure
- 37:44Speaker 2: it out. And one side was like people with chainsaws
- 37:46Speaker 2: like chasing. You still got one up in pine Grove.
- 37:49Speaker 2: The You don't know where that is. It's close to Kentwood, Okay,
- 37:52Speaker 2: I didn't.
- 37:54Speaker 5: Okay, here's another Halloween one.
- 37:58Speaker 2: I like this.
- 37:59Speaker 6: I know, would you rather turn into a scarecrow every
- 38:03Speaker 6: night or have that's constantly nesting in your hair a scarecrow? Right?
- 38:10Speaker 2: Okay, so say the first one turn a scarecrow.
- 38:13Speaker 5: Every night every night, or have that's constantly nesting in
- 38:18Speaker 5: your hair.
- 38:20Speaker 8: At least I'm something cool with his share at least
- 38:22Speaker 8: like yeah, because the bird's gonna land on you.
- 38:25Speaker 2: Yeah, well actually yeah, I want to be done. I
- 38:28Speaker 2: don't want to bat landing on me. At least I'm
- 38:30Speaker 2: averaging twelve good hours a day. I think scarecrows they
- 38:34Speaker 2: just chill. They're probably getting some sleep.
- 38:38Speaker 5: Okay, I feel like that wasn't that great?
- 38:39Speaker 6: So would you rather have to babysit Chucky for a
- 38:41Speaker 6: weekend or share a bunk bed with Pennywise.
- 38:44Speaker 8: I'm babysitting Chucky. I'm gonna throw him across the room
- 38:48Speaker 8: repeatedly until he gives up. That's anybody ever seen the
- 38:51Speaker 8: movie Child's Play? It is not a horror movie.
- 38:54Speaker 2: It's hilarious. It's kind of funny. It's a hilarious movie.
- 38:59Speaker 2: I'm choosing. I guess I'm choosing Chucky. Ye, Anywise, Like,
- 39:04Speaker 2: I don't do that. I don't mess with clown sue.
- 39:07Speaker 5: No, clowns are so freaky to me.
- 39:09Speaker 2: Let's see Chucky open the door. He's like a foot
- 39:12Speaker 2: toll walking in a closet. Right, you don't have.
- 39:18Speaker 5: On Wolf of Wall Street where they're with the little people.
- 39:23Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, you just do that to Chucky, put him
- 39:26Speaker 6: in a bell crow suit and start throwing him at targets.
- 39:29Speaker 2: And I didn't expect to bring this up, So I
- 39:30Speaker 2: don't have all like all the I don't have an
- 39:32Speaker 2: all that information like that sort of give. But did
- 39:33Speaker 2: y'all see that clip the guy there's this YouTuber, young
- 39:37Speaker 2: guy who bought like the this doll that is like
- 39:41Speaker 2: the most haunted doll.
- 39:43Speaker 3: It was.
- 39:46Speaker 2: Bull. No, it's it's a well known guy, Anna Bell doll. Yeah,
- 39:50Speaker 2: there you go. And he had and he bought this
- 39:53Speaker 2: whole house with like all these haunted artifacts. And I'm like, man,
- 39:55Speaker 2: this dude, wait no, no, no, no, this was Matt Rife. Yeah,
- 40:00Speaker 2: I don't know who that is. He's a comedian.
- 40:01Speaker 5: Matt rf did this insane. He bought the insane.
- 40:06Speaker 8: I don't know if he bought the house. He bought
- 40:08Speaker 8: like the rights to the house that the dolls kept
- 40:11Speaker 8: in or something like that. It's it's something weird.
- 40:14Speaker 2: Yeah, he did. He bought for like one hundred years
- 40:16Speaker 2: or something like or twenty years. He owns the rights
- 40:18Speaker 2: to it. Like that doll.
- 40:21Speaker 5: She's creepy.
- 40:22Speaker 1: I know, M.
- 40:26Speaker 2: Just thinking about it. Yeah, sixteen Days of Halloween. All right,
- 40:30Speaker 2: all right, flavor, flav it was actually a fun Would
- 40:33Speaker 2: you really that was really good? Would you always had
- 40:36Speaker 2: to get Jake out of here? It's a tripod? All right,
- 40:40Speaker 2: we're gonna come back. We will close out our number two,
- 40:43Speaker 2: continue talking lsu Vandy. Obviously we did in this segment,
- 40:46Speaker 2: but we'll continue talking. We'll get a little game film.
- 40:49Speaker 2: Uh in our three we got lots left, big show
- 40:52Speaker 2: where you still left right here? Off the bench, off
- 40:54Speaker 2: the bench, all right, go to to get Gordon dot com.
- 41:02Speaker 2: Get Gordon dot com. All right. We know the name,
- 41:05Speaker 2: We know what he does. Gordon mccurney, personal injury attorney.
- 41:09Speaker 2: Wherever you are in Louisiana, it doesn't matter. Get ready, people,
- 41:13Speaker 2: I'm gonna put you all on the spot like Jake does,
- 41:14Speaker 2: because he always puts me on the spot. We're gonna
- 41:17Speaker 2: put you all on the spot as well. No matter
- 41:18Speaker 2: where you are in Louisiana, what your area code is, north, southwest, east, central,
- 41:23Speaker 2: whatever it is, it's eight eight eight eight eight eight eight.
- 41:26Speaker 2: Even if you are living in Taylor, Oberlin, Oberlin, Louisiana, yep, Sulfur, Sulfur, Louisiana.
- 41:37Speaker 2: Maybe mindon whatever caplan caplan morero. It doesn't matter where
- 41:44Speaker 2: you are. The phone number is eight eight eight eight
- 41:46Speaker 2: eight eight eight. If you've been injured, whether it's in
- 41:48Speaker 2: the on the job, whether it's in a car accident,
- 41:51Speaker 2: whatever it is, make sure you call Gordon McKernan injury attorneys.
- 41:54Speaker 2: Let them fight for you, let them get what you
- 41:56Speaker 2: deserve at get Gordon dot com.
- 41:58Speaker 5: We call the club is full.
- 42:01Speaker 2: Of ballas and au and now you fellas little friends
- 42:05Speaker 2: because the club.
- 42:07Speaker 5: Is jumping, jumping.
- 42:16Speaker 1: Tigers turn talkers.
- 42:18Speaker 2: This is off the bench, all right, welcome back in
- 42:23Speaker 2: off the bench. We are closing out our number two
- 42:27Speaker 2: right here, and we all finally got what we want.
- 42:31Speaker 2: Jake's out of here, driving Clafayette to talk about safety
- 42:35Speaker 2: from the guy that didn't care about his own safety.
- 42:38Speaker 2: What an anomaly? All right? So we talked about l
- 42:42Speaker 2: s U Vandy and the big kind of storyline for
- 42:44Speaker 2: me right now outside of the x's and o's, is
- 42:47Speaker 2: that Vanderbilt is favored against LSU. I think it started
- 42:52Speaker 2: at about a point point and a half. I think
- 42:53Speaker 2: it's up to two and a half point favorites against
- 42:56Speaker 2: the top ten, one loss LSU football team. What the
- 43:00Speaker 2: hell is happening? I don't know. Vanderbilt is they got
- 43:04Speaker 2: a a group, they got a head coach, they got
- 43:09Speaker 2: a team that is eras tacking up, they got a
- 43:11Speaker 2: quarterback that plays like a caveman and Taylor Landra. Can
- 43:16Speaker 2: y'all tell me when the last time LSU was or
- 43:19Speaker 2: Vandy was favored against LSU.
- 43:22Speaker 8: Never it's gotta be like seventies eighties or the nineteen
- 43:27Speaker 8: ninety game they won nineteen forty eight.
- 43:30Speaker 2: This was my next guest was nineteen forty eight was
- 43:33Speaker 2: the last time Vanderbilt was favored against the LSU fighting tires,
- 43:39Speaker 2: So seventy seven since seventy seven years, and of course
- 43:43Speaker 2: we said it earlier. Vandy has not beaten LSU since
- 43:45Speaker 2: nineteen ninety. So I kind of thought it'd be fun
- 43:47Speaker 2: to take a trip down memory lane and take a
- 43:50Speaker 2: look at what else in the world and in sports
- 43:53Speaker 2: was happening in nineteen forty eight, the last time Vandy
- 43:56Speaker 2: was favored against LSU. All right, we're gonna start with
- 43:59Speaker 2: just kind of the world. The state of Israel was proclaimed,
- 44:02Speaker 2: first year of it State of Israel. Nineteen forty eight,
- 44:07Speaker 2: Gandhi was assassinated, the Indian leader famous North Year, Big Year,
- 44:12Speaker 2: it's a big year for nineteen forty eight, North and
- 44:14Speaker 2: South Korea were established as separate nations. So the last
- 44:18Speaker 2: time Vandy was favored was when North and South Korea
- 44:22Speaker 2: were established. They were just Korea. Also, the People's Republic
- 44:25Speaker 2: of China was also founded. The first Porsche car was created,
- 44:28Speaker 2: the first bar.
- 44:31Speaker 4: And Harry S.
- 44:32Speaker 2: Truman won a surprise victory in the US presidential electioning
- 44:35Speaker 2: he defeated Thomas E. Dewey. Hello, and then in sports,
- 44:40Speaker 2: let's go away from I like that. Yeah you see.
- 44:44Speaker 2: June twenty fifth, at New York's Yankee Stadium, Joe Lolis
- 44:48Speaker 2: knocked out Jersey Joe Walcott in the eleventh round to
- 44:51Speaker 2: retain his heavyweight title for the twenty fifth time. How
