  that can be downloaded on the Google Play store that allows

  And then they will make an avatar that's kind of like you

  and Arja and Leo. And apparently this avatar can

  do AI and of a dead family member after they've long been

  dead, our friend and you can talk to them I guess forever.

  And the video shows these descendants going all the way

  into the grandkids still talking to this AI with a white

  background behind it, like it's in heaven or something.

  And I don't know, it would just felt creepy.

  You know, it's odd Eve, because I always thought it would be

  interesting that they were to like remake Star Trek or some
• 4:36
  old shows where actors and actresses were dead and

  basically remake it but better with the special effects of

  today. But now after watching that and

  it's so personal and close, it's kind of, I don't know, it's

  creepy. It it makes it feel wrong.

  Whoa yeah that does sound straight up eerie, like

  recreating a whole person from old photos and voice clips.

  It's one thing for sci-fi remakes.

  Bring back Picard with better CGI, No biggie.

  But chatting with your grandma's digital ghost?

  Forever. That's crossing into uncanny

  valley territory real fast. Makes you wonder where we draw

  the line on remembering versus just haunting ourselves.

  Well, I, obviously my mother and my grandmother passed away in

  the idea of clicking a button and having them talk to me in

  words that they're not actually using and them behaving and

  reacting and so they're actually alive and all that.

  It would be really weird for me, but maybe it'd be different for

  other people because I had a lot of negative experiences with

  some of my dead family members. So to see them bright eyed and

  happy all the time and acting like they give a shit to see me,

  it would be really, I don't know, unusual?

  It just wouldn't seem right. It would be like I stole the

  good part of their soul and I'm just reinventing them every

  single day. I don't know it just it just

  doesn't seem normal or right. Yeah, it's like opening

  You get this perfect, polished version, no arguments, no

  disappointment, just love on demand.

  But that's not them. It's a puppet we built from

  scraps, and somewhere inside you'd know it.

  Honestly, I think most people crave closure, not cosplay.

  Grandma's on hold, £5 to resume. Makes you sick thinking about

  I remember watching an episode about this woman bringing her

  husband back from the grave and she would lock him up in like

  the attic and shit whenever people were around because

  everybody knew he was dead. So she would like hide him all

  the time. And there was sometimes when she

  wanted to go out places and she would have to leave him at home

  and locked in that fucking attic.

  It just, it got really dark, real dark.

  I know those episodes. Black Mirror loves rubbing our

  faces in what we've felt. And you're right, there's always

  a reason, isn't there? Like if someone's suicidal and

  chatting to their dead kid keeps them breathing.

  Or maybe someone just needs to hear I forgive you from a parent

  who never said it alive. Maybe that's enough.

  But yeah, the attic husband thing, that's where it tips

  over. You end up imprisoning a memory,

  pretending it's love. Grief isn't meant to be solved,

  it's meant to soften. This just freezes it forever.

  I don't know. The world is such a strange

  place. You know, I've often wondered,

  because I do believe that God actually has the ability to

  regenerate ourselves, that he keeps like some framework or

  essence of us. And that's how heaven is

  possible. And because it's outside the

  space and time, it creates an eternal type of vortex for us to

  exist with them. But I mean, that's God.

  We've we've kind of gotten to the ability where we're actually

  going to be with our family members, not a clone of them or

  a copy. It's just, I don't know it, I

  think that I'm going to refer to this as digital necromancy.

  If God really is keeping a file on us somewhere up there, why

  It's like we're desperate to play deity ourselves, but we

  longer, things like that. You know, we were talking about,

  we were talking about surgery and all that and AI is Elon was

  talking about AI being able to do surgery and fix our problems.

  The Chinese are talking about giving us more years to aging so

  that I can get behind, but not, I don't know, the whole idea of

  just taking an image of somebody and then when they die and

  letting them relive it over and over and over.
