- Lucas: Hey Luna, ready for another episode of Learn French with Fexingo? Luna: Absolutely, Lucas. I've been practicing from last time, and I'm excited for something new. Lucas: Great. So today, we're going to tackle something super practical: numbers. Specifically, numbers one through ten. Luna: Oh, numbers. I can already count to three from other episodes, but let's do the whole set. Lucas: Exactly. Let's start simple. Number one is 'un'. Can you say that? Luna: Un. Lucas: Perfect. Two is 'deux'. Luna: Deux. Lucas: Good. Three, you might know: 'trois'. Luna: Trois. Lucas: Nailed it. Four is 'quatre'. Luna: Quatre. That one feels a bit tricky. Lucas: You got it. Five is 'cinq'. Luna: Cinq. Lucas: Nice. Six is 'six'. Luna: Six. Lucas: Seven is 'sept'. Luna: Sept. Lucas: Eight is 'huit'. Luna: Huit. Lucas: Nine is 'neuf'. Luna: Neuf. Lucas: And ten is 'dix'. Luna: Dix. Lucas: Awesome. Let's count from one to ten together slowly: un, deux, trois, quatre, cinq, six, sept, huit, neuf, dix. Luna: Un, deux, trois, quatre, cinq, six, sept, huit, neuf, dix. Lucas: There you go. Now, let's try a little rhythm. I'll say a number, you repeat. Ready? Luna: Ready. Lucas: Un. Luna: Un. Lucas: Deux. Luna: Deux. Lucas: Trois. Luna: Trois. Lucas: Quatre. Luna: Quatre. Lucas: Cinq. Luna: Cinq. Lucas: Six. Luna: Six. Lucas: Sept. Luna: Sept. Lucas: Huit. Luna: Huit. Lucas: Neuf. Luna: Neuf. Lucas: Dix. Luna: Dix. Lucas: You're doing great. Now, let's use these numbers in a real situation. Imagine you're at a bakery and you want to buy three croissants. How would you say 'I would like three croissants'? Luna: Umm... 'Je voudrais trois croissants'? Lucas: Exactly. 'Je voudrais trois croissants.' Listeners, that's using the number trois. Let's try another. If you want two baguettes? Luna: Je voudrais deux baguettes. Lucas: Perfect. And if you want one cake? Luna: Je voudrais un gâteau. Lucas: Yes. Notice how 'un' is used for masculine nouns like gâteau. For a feminine noun like tarte, it's 'une'. But we'll cover that another time. For now, let's practice counting backwards from ten. Luna: Ooh, reverse. Dix, neuf, huit, sept, six, cinq, quatre, trois, deux, un. Lucas: Flawless. You know, learning numbers is one of those things that really pays off. Luna: Cinq. Lucas: Excellent. You've got them down. Let's do one more full count together, nice and slow, so listeners can repeat along. Un. Luna: Deux. Lucas: Trois. Luna: Quatre. Lucas: Cinq.
