- 0:00New podcast. Welcome.
- 0:02Thank you. You're, you know, I mean, it's
- 0:05like a new you today. New year, new me.
- 0:08New year, new you. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 0:11So, you know, it was an eventful night.
- 0:13We were tracking some things. As you can see.
- 0:15We were partying like it was 1999 in here.
- 0:18I love it. Yeah.
- 0:19I love it. I did say while we were building
- 0:21it, you know, it's going to give like real prom vibes, which I
- 0:24mean, you never went to prom, so it's kind of like you got prom
- 0:27pictures only way cooler like yesterday.
- 0:30Yeah, you know, I never went to prom or high school dances
- 0:35because I always felt like it was it was like more cool and
- 0:38avant-garde to not go. So I wouldn't go because it was
- 0:42like, yo, I'm I'm too fly for to go.
- 0:45And then like now, of course I wish I would have gone, but you
- 0:49know, I would go to the after party though, bro.
- 0:52Oh yeah, that's. What the cool kids?
- 0:54Yeah. So anyway, yeah, I did see a
- 0:56comment that was like, oh, this looks like.
- 0:59AI thought. Out 16 and me and I go, hey, I'm
- 1:01here for it. You know, I think the pictures
- 1:03are fly. Yeah, I think they turned out
- 1:05really good. Yeah.
- 1:07You know, you could do a lot with some balloons and some
- 1:09glitter. Yeah.
- 1:10So. And a bottle of champagne. 2
- 1:12bottles of champagne and. And and a fry lamp, I think.
- 1:16Lots of balloons. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:19The process to get it done was interesting because we had had
- 1:24the plan for quite a while to do this photo shoot and then we
- 1:30sort of ran out of time and it was like, well, we're going to
- 1:32hit it today. So like we need to get it done
- 1:34and went ahead, banged out the photos.
- 1:38I think they went really well. And yeah, it was a lot of fun.
- 1:42There's a hair in my eyeball. I feel it.
- 1:45I think, oh, I almost got it. I feel it.
- 1:48I just feel it dragging. I still haven't gotten it.
- 1:56Oh. Oh, there it is.
- 1:57You got it? Yeah, a few stores later.
- 2:01That whole scenario was insane. Well, I needed to get it out of
- 2:04my eye. I just let you have that moment.
- 2:07Yeah, Abby is not happy with this setup today.
- 2:10He would like to be. Maybe we move the the skull so
- 2:13we can just at least sit on his bed.
- 2:15The dog is so high maintenance. All right, folks.
- 2:19So anyway, yeah, the process to get all the stuff was
- 2:24interesting. Had to go to three stores and
- 2:28eventually kind of got everything we wanted, knew we
- 2:32wanted to do kind of a black and gold.
- 2:34I had all black outfit, had a gold change.
- 2:36I actually thought it looked pretty good in the photos.
- 2:39I know you were apprehensive about the chain, but I think it
- 2:41did work. And then we found the Snoop Dogg
- 2:45champagne that was black and it was black and gold California.
- 2:49Like it was kind of cool, you know, like everything about it.
- 2:52And then the photos, you know, we had somewhere to go and, and
- 2:57we're trying to get them done. And I think we came out with
- 3:00like 10 really good photos. And.
- 3:02Yeah. Went ahead and 500.
- 3:03Yeah, and went ahead and picked 4 not.
- 3:05The clear on the car. Yeah, went ahead and put 4 up
- 3:08from the from initially. I'll probably I'll probably put
- 3:11the other ones up at some point, but for now got a few up but.
- 3:14It turned out good. It was good.
- 3:16Yeah. You know, you're in the six
- 3:18digits now. Yeah.
- 3:19So that's cool. And the plaque will be arriving.
- 3:24You know, I do wonder, like, they got a little counter that
- 3:26just like pops up in YouTube headquarters, like, yeah, I
- 3:30guess it just shows up at your house eventually, like.
- 3:32Yeah, I don't know, crazy. I don't know which address is
- 3:35going to or anything, but I imagine they probably e-mail you
- 3:39or something. I don't know.
- 3:40I don't know, I think it's cool that YouTube still does it
- 3:43though, because things like that could really be like discount
- 3:47over time and you know, they just stop doing it like it's an
- 3:50extra cost for them, for the, you know, a company.
- 3:56And so I think it's cool that that's something that they have
- 3:59always contained regardless of like the clock changing or
- 4:03whatever. Well, and and YouTube overall I
- 4:06think is a a really creator friendly platform.
- 4:11I mean they obviously like from a Adsense revenue, they or
- 4:15standpoint they pay more than any of the others.
- 4:18I know TikTok can do pretty well too, but pay the best.
- 4:23Their support's pretty good, analytics are great, and then
- 4:28you know, stuff like the plaque is awesome, so.
- 4:31But it's a platform that seems like it hasn't changed a lot.
- 4:35No over time, right? You know, other than maybe
- 4:39getting rid of like showing the like dislike number or something
- 4:44publicly, though you can still click it.
- 4:49Other than that, you know, and maybe they created the community
- 4:52page that didn't originally exist.
- 4:54Yeah, it's always like small changes.
- 4:56Like for example, for a while I was able to post stories on
- 5:00YouTube. If you're like over 10,000
- 5:02subscribers, you could do stories and they got rid of that
- 5:05feature. They changed the name of the
- 5:07community posts tab to now it's called the posts tab.
- 5:12Obviously shorts are relatively new, which by the way, I think.
- 5:15That was in a couple. Years, I think shorts are a very
- 5:18good change for YouTube because obviously there's a big desire
- 5:26for them like TikTok in reels, but I think YouTube's just such
- 5:32a robust platform I think it's I've always said I think it's
- 5:36more similar to Netflix than it is to like Instagram I think
- 5:39it's. More yeah, for sure.
- 5:40And you look at like Instagram and I don't dabble much in
- 5:44TikTok to know but like so much of what they're doing can like
- 5:49has changed oh like over and over again.
- 5:54You know, whether it's like all of a sudden there's like you can
- 5:57put an avatar on your picture and then then they're like
- 6:01paying you revenue for whatever that one thing was like where
- 6:06like you had to make like over 50 bucks and then they pay it
- 6:10out to you and. Oh, bonuses.
- 6:12The bonuses, yeah. And then that disappeared and
- 6:14they stopped doing it. And then they created like
- 6:17channels and then now there's Threads, which is its own thing.
- 6:21And yeah, there's just a lot like the constantly changing
- 6:25with things like Instagram, whereas YouTube is just kind of
- 6:29like a tried and true. So I do appreciate that because
- 6:34it's not like they're growing something new at you every year
- 6:38to try and figure out or, or, you know, changes the algorithm
- 6:42as far as like, oh, no, do like it'll even notify you on
- 6:46Instagram. Like if you put a song over your
- 6:48picture, it will get, you know, looked at more.
- 6:51Yeah. And so it's just constantly
- 6:55like, Oh well, what's going to work on?
- 6:57It, yeah, it's kind of a moving target.
- 6:58Yeah. Yeah, I totally agree with that.
- 7:02Want to get to some of these ideas from the live?
- 7:05Yeah, yeah, You have a live. I was, you know, lounging this
- 7:08morning, so. Do you have anything else you
- 7:10want to cover before getting to these?
- 7:14No, no. OK.
- 7:15Do you want to? Do you want to read the topics
- 7:17or you want me to read the topics?
- 7:18Let's see if I can decipher your handwriting.
- 7:20Maybe I'll read a. Copy It took me 3 different pens
- 7:22to write all those because I kept having pens.
- 7:24Now let me go ahead and answer this one for you.
- 7:26Will I do a Mohawk? No, but I think this question is
- 7:30directed toward. You No, I'm not going to do a
- 7:33Mohawk. I'm pretty committed to the
- 7:35mullet, which is funny because the other day I was complaining
- 7:37about how I'm already over my long hair.
- 7:40But no, I'm going to continue with the mullet and get a pretty
- 7:44sick and zesty and yeah, just keep going with the mullet.
- 7:47But we do have to freshen it up on the sides before before they
- 7:51put. The hat back on for death I.
- 7:53Will, but yeah. So anyway.
- 7:56Yeah, it's, it's slowly coming in to the point where like when
- 7:59you leave it down, if you haven't been wearing a hat,
- 8:02which you have that you know, it's, it's not too bad.
- 8:08In the beginning it was a lot to look at, but it's stylable now.
- 8:14And even without being styled, you know, if you haven't had a
- 8:17hat mashing it down, yeah, you know, it's not too bad.
- 8:20But yeah, anyway, so we'll keep moving on.
- 8:25I won't do these in any sort of order, so I'm just going to kind
- 8:28of go down the list. Bare shaft verse fletched.
- 8:33Yeah, this was a tuning question, which obviously is not
- 8:36my bag, but I do have enough knowledge to speak on it.
- 8:43So I I don't really do bear shaft tuning, but I think it's a
- 8:46good thing to do. I mean, if your arrow tunes very
- 8:49well unfletched, obviously it's going to fly mega straight with
- 8:56fletches. So I mean, if you can do it, I
- 8:59think it's I think it's great. Yeah, it's a we did it that one
- 9:02time, right? You know, which was a a pretty
- 9:05cool, clever video. And I agree.
- 9:11I think if you have the tools to do it, the equipment to do it,
- 9:17then do it. It can only make you more
- 9:19accurate. It's not going to make you as
- 9:20long as you do it right, it's not going to make you less
- 9:22accurate. So, so if you have the
- 9:25equipment, do it, I don't think it makes enough of a difference.
- 9:32Me personally, unless you're like a target shooter, like
- 9:36you're doing indoor or you're doing like the 3D ASA or
- 9:40whatever competitively to need to do it though, like it, it
- 9:50doesn't throw you enough off that you're going from, I mean,
- 9:53even like a a dessert plate, not a dinner plate.
- 9:58Like I don't think the differences in your shafts are
- 10:03going to take you from inside the dessert plate to the next
- 10:06arrow that's off outside of the dessert plate.
- 10:09Like you your variable is within that dessert plate.
- 10:12So and I think probably even smaller than that, so.
- 10:15Very scientific, right? There.
- 10:17Well, I that's how I'm trying to describe how minute I think the
- 10:21differences are. Unless you're buying ass arrows
- 10:23or something. I like it.
- 10:25I love I. Love it.
- 10:27I love. Are you in a real like
- 10:28California? You kind of got my smoker's
- 10:30voice going on this morning. I'm just kind of in a good mood.
- 10:34Yeah, well, once you had honored, I mean, you could
- 10:36coast. Now you.
- 10:37Know, oh, I'm not no, I'm not gonna coast.
- 10:40I'm gonna go even harder. But my point is, like today,
- 10:42I'll be honest with you, like, you know, like if I could do
- 10:46anything right now, it'd be to finish our tasks and just like,
- 10:50go walk around and hit water. Holes.
- 10:52Yeah, I'm so glad I put so many tasks on the list today.
- 10:55We only have a few tasks. We got a bit of filming, some
- 10:58short stuff to do. And probably some loading up,
- 11:01but after that. We had a lot of loading up to
- 11:04do. But after that, I really would
- 11:07like to go, you know, just walk around in the sun.
- 11:10But like, I feel like today I know there's tasks to do, but
- 11:15I'm kind of in a mood to just like.
- 11:16Or a true just. Vibe.
- 11:19But like, I want a vibe today. It's such a big day.
- 11:23It's a big day anyway, continue. Sorry.
- 11:26I do understand now why, Bernie, you know, I've learned enough of
- 11:31your words that like, I can communicate with you.
- 11:34But Alby's not sure about the balloons he's still trying to
- 11:40dis. All right, next.
- 11:40Queue yet to understand your California language.
- 11:44I get it now because I went backwards.
- 11:51OK, Next. OK, here we go.
- 11:53So moving on to the next one. I think you shorthanded this
- 12:01one. What would you tell self at 1
- 12:03sub? Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:05Yeah, Yeah. I thought that was an
- 12:06interesting question. I don't know.
- 12:11I can't really say I would have done a whole lot different.
- 12:19I don't know. I mean, I think at the time I
- 12:22was doing the best I could with the equipment I had.
- 12:26I mean, we're mostly just filming on Gopros, like, you
- 12:30know, so in old ones, I guess if I could tweak anything, maybe
- 12:36just switch to like the camcorders I use now a little
- 12:41bit sooner. But I didn't feel like I could
- 12:43afford them at the time, so I just ran what I had, which is
- 12:46certainly better than nothing. And then yeah, just, I mean, I
- 12:52guess maybe sticking the niche a little tighter, but I really
- 12:54didn't expand out of the niche till a little bit later.
- 12:57I went through this phase. But yeah, I don't know, I think
- 13:03just being consistent is so key. But I was always consistent.
- 13:06That was never the problem. It just takes time.
- 13:09Like, I think for anybody, it's going to take time.
- 13:14And I think for someone, our production was just so low in
- 13:19the beginning that I think that was tough.
- 13:21And then also the elephant in the room, too, is that, you
- 13:26know, we were doing archery and hunting in in Southern
- 13:29California and trying to go a platform like it was, you know,
- 13:32not a hotbed for it wasn't Spokane where you got 14
- 13:36Youtubers. So it was like, hard to be the
- 13:39only one on like, an island making content.
- 13:42And but, yeah, I mean, I'm really proud of the journey and
- 13:47I think that each step along the way was important.
- 13:54So yeah, I guess I would tell myself just keep going.
- 13:58Just don't stop. That's it.
- 14:01He's being really needy. But that was it.
- 14:04As long as you don't stop. Yeah, I think I don't know that
- 14:08you necessarily because it's not your, you already had the
- 14:12mindset, so you didn't necessarily have to tell
- 14:14yourself, but something that you are doing that if you don't have
- 14:18that mindset, other Youtubers should be telling themselves is
- 14:22to stay consistent and get good and creative in the niche that
- 14:26you are. The niche that you are in I
- 14:29think which you fell into a few years later like you said.
- 14:33But it's good to experiment with videos, but experiment within
- 14:38your niche. Don't try to be like, you know,
- 14:44let's try this and see if it works.
- 14:45Cuz one video is not gonna prove if it works or not.
- 14:49And then you could potentially waste years trying to determine
- 14:53if like a type of content works for you and you've already
- 14:57solidified yourself into one. Well, also you do kind of
- 15:01confuse like the algorithm as well, because if you start
- 15:06posting stuff that's outside the niche, you know, you can
- 15:12essentially the click through rate will be a lot worse on that
- 15:15video. So then when your next one comes
- 15:17out that's in the niche, they're kind of like, well, should we
- 15:19push this out to people or not? Because they didn't click the
- 15:21last one, but then your next one might be in the niche.
- 15:24So it's just important to stay honed in.
- 15:28But I mean. Yeah.
- 15:30But first, but yeah, I mean, as far as what I would tell myself,
- 15:33it would just be just be consistent and don't stop and
- 15:38that's about it. I will be honest that when we're
- 15:40podcasting, the dog is always a huge distraction for you.
- 15:45Well, he's just so needy and he just loves me so much.
- 15:50He can't be without me, you know.
- 15:51People love the podcast. It is interesting because when
- 15:54we're doing, I'm like, bro, this shit's so off the rails, but I
- 15:57think that's why people enjoy it.
- 15:59Yeah. Yeah, especially you, because
- 16:01you're a goofy bastard. You might be goofier than me.
- 16:05Maybe. I'm not sure, maybe not.
- 16:08OK, next. He just wanted A10 next.
- 16:10Question, Did I answer that sufficiently?
- 16:13I think so, yeah. Next one.
- 16:16Just says trigger punch queue. Oh, yeah.
- 16:19So someone asked if if I thought I would ever do like, command
- 16:25breaks or, I'm sorry, surprise breaks.
- 16:29And I do do them. That's the thing I think people
- 16:31like, think I never do them. I do do them.
- 16:34Do I think I'll ever go to the point where I do them every
- 16:37single time? Definitely not.
- 16:40In fact, I think I'm actually more accurate doing command
- 16:43shots for the most part, but I do like to do both.
- 16:46And I have noticed that when I'm in a shooting slump, switching
- 16:49to surprise breaks for a little bit tends to Get Me Out of the
- 16:52slump. So I really try to utilize both
- 16:55things, but I think it's better if you can do it to be good at
- 16:58both rather than just be like, well, I can only do the one
- 17:01because the punch police are going to get me.
- 17:02Like, I would rather be able to do both because when I shoot
- 17:06tournaments and it's windy, how often do I gap the field big
- 17:09time during that period, you know, whereas other people fall
- 17:13off really bad. So yeah.
- 17:17Yeah, I, I would, I would agree with that.
- 17:19I think one, if it's not broke, don't fix it.
- 17:23Like your results speak for themselves.
- 17:28And there's a lot of people who I think probably are out there
- 17:32who are like, well, let me relearn how to do this and said,
- 17:35Nah, if you're a good shooter and, and you, you know, harvest
- 17:38animals and, you know, are successful, then then why change
- 17:44the recipe? I don't think there's any, you
- 17:48know, people. Probably there's more than one
- 17:50way to skim it with. For this, but there yeah there I
- 17:55don't think anyone way is correct.
- 17:59I totally agree and I just. And it can vary person to
- 18:02person. Yep. 1000% so I agree.
- 18:06Next cue or topic I suppose. Would Africa teach us?
- 18:12Oh yeah, what did Africa teach? Me that Africa.
- 18:15That's not the question. You really, you, you and your
- 18:18team really badger me about this.
- 18:20But like, it just it wasn't in the car.
- 18:22I mean, you could have bought the flight.
- 18:24Did you buy the flight? No.
- 18:25No. No, the question was, did I
- 18:29learn anything over there that I didn't learn here to to simplify
- 18:38it? I wouldn't say anything that
- 18:42doesn't exist hunting here. However, I will say you get to
- 18:44learn. You get a lot more repetition in
- 18:46a very short period of time. So it's sort of like getting a
- 18:49crash course because you're like doing so many stocks.
- 18:53Yeah. Or even sitting blinds or
- 18:54whatever. Yeah.
- 18:55So as far as repetition and getting practice under your
- 18:59belt, can't beat it. So that would be my answer.
- 19:04Very nice. Would you like to answer that
- 19:05question anyway next? Anyways, discuss HLR 5 point O
- 19:15arrows. Oh yeah, so someone asked about
- 19:17the Easton 5 point O's because they said they had heard they
- 19:20were brittle. I can't speak to it, never shot
- 19:23the Easton 5 O's, but I do shoot the HLR which is basically
- 19:26Victory's version. And the Eastons were brittle.
- 19:29Yes, that's what I that's what the guy in the live set.
- 19:32I really am enjoying the HLRS and I have not found that they
- 19:37are really brittle at all. Like for me they've been quite
- 19:41durable. I've broken a couple of them,
- 19:44but they were on things that would have broken any arrow.
- 19:46Well, that's when someone Robin hoods your arrow Any any arrows.
- 19:50Gonna but I I am you know me, I'm a big fan of durability is
- 19:54important to me on arrows and that's part of the reason why
- 19:56back in the day, like I love the like gold tip hunters is they're
- 20:00very durable and I would say the HLRS are I mean.
- 20:04I've had no issues with durability.
- 20:06So that would be my, yeah, my, my, my feedback on them.
- 20:11All right, what else we got? I'll save that one for you.
- 20:14Look at this. Nutter butter.
- 20:15What was your biggest challenge to 100K?
- 20:19Oh, biggest challenge? I guess it would be just like
- 20:32trying to, you know, you got to be cautious not to get in your
- 20:35head sometimes. Like if you're dealing with, you
- 20:38know, haters or like, you know, the whole podcast about getting
- 20:42cancelled, shit like that is rough and not fun to go through.
- 20:48But for me, I just try to use that as fuel to go even higher.
- 20:52And I, I love it. I do love it, but they are tough
- 20:57stuff like that. So for me that would be the main
- 20:59thing is just dealing with maybe nasty comments or people being
- 21:02mean or trying to tear you down like that is not fun.
- 21:05So that would be my least the hardest for me.
- 21:09But I will say as far as like in person but no one ever mean like
- 21:14you know what I mean? Everyone's always so cool in
- 21:17person. So you cannot let the negative
- 21:19comments and people be in trolls like bother you.
- 21:23But I'll be honest, sometimes they just do.
- 21:25You'll read a comment and you're like, oh, shit, it'll bother you
- 21:27all. Well, it'll just bother me all
- 21:30day and, like, make you depressed and stuff.
- 21:32And and yeah, that, that's the toughest part for me at least.
- 21:36But it was harder in the beginning, you know, Now it's
- 21:39like, oh, it's fine. But yeah, that would be my
- 21:43answer. Very nice.
- 21:45Is this kind of, I feel like this is kind of a nice format
- 21:48for this episode. Would you say yes?
- 21:50OK, what are you most proud? I feel like I should have really
- 21:53nice proper like card stock here where I like.
- 21:57No, I went through WE. Should have.
- 21:59We should have done that ahead of time, but instead we're just
- 22:02humble poppers. What are you most proud of to
- 22:06100K? Like in the process of getting
- 22:08to 100K. Oh man, well, I'd be kind of
- 22:17curious your answer too, but for, I don't know, I guess just
- 22:23sticking with it, always staying consistent, staying upbeat.
- 22:28I guess I'm proud of the fact that, you know, was still still
- 22:35very much like a a people's the man of the people, people's
- 22:40champ. And I like that.
- 22:41I don't want to be the cock that's like shooting and then
- 22:43going home or being like I don't want to be around the people.
- 22:46I want to be around the people. I want I know you.
- 22:48I want to be I want to be ripping shotguns in the parking
- 22:51lot, hanging out attack with like people that I just met.
- 22:55That's what I want to do. And so I'm proud of that, that
- 22:57that's been maintained and definitely haven't like gotten
- 23:01too hoity toity to be like, well, I can't do that because I
- 23:05got to make my sponsors happy. It's like if my sponsors don't
- 23:08like that, they can drop me and I'll go find someone who like is
- 23:11more aligned. But luckily my sponsors are on
- 23:14board with me as a person and and that's how I am.
- 23:17So I would say just since then, true to who I am and and and and
- 23:24everyone else in the group as well.
- 23:25I think that's what I'm proud of probably.
- 23:29So what would you say? Because you've been around since
- 23:304000 Subs ish, so you've been around for 96,000 of growth.
- 23:35That's a lot. 96% of it. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 23:39Easy to break it. Down, although I don't know if
- 23:40you could consider that because that's hard.
- 23:42You know, maybe a math whiz watches the channel.
- 23:44Doubt it, But no, it's 96. Percent.
- 23:47Yeah, well, but if you were to break it down, because the
- 23:50percentage doesn't happen equally over time, you know, so
- 23:53like. I think it's 96% still, but
- 23:57anyway, I'm not sure. Maybe a math guy will come but
- 24:00I'm almost positive. But anyway, So what would you be
- 24:02most proud? Of yeah, I'd say, you know, that
- 24:09I'm like a big fan of sometimes getting into using the DSLR in
- 24:14some cases and whatnot. I do like the pretty content,
- 24:18but you know, there's a good it's not a fine line.
- 24:23There's a good mixture of like what you can use, you know, DSLR
- 24:28for verse like a camcorder and and and whatnot and sticking
- 24:37true. You know though, like sometimes
- 24:39there's jokes about using the camcorder and whatnot to like
- 24:43just like everything really being pretty darn raw.
- 24:48You know, there's not a lot of like, unless we're doing some
- 24:51sort of like experimental video or something that's been thought
- 24:55out, like not saying everything is Willy nilly and we just throw
- 24:58the camera up there and see what we get.
- 24:59Like there's thought into like the game that we play in the
- 25:02video or, you know, the overarching goal or or even hunt
- 25:09videos like the hat trick that you had a DN mind and it was
- 25:12just a matter of if, you know, bull went down or not to make it
- 25:15happen. Sure, that thought is still in
- 25:18there, but so much of it is still just based on the natural
- 25:23raw fun of shooting. And so it very much was the same
- 25:28point as yours that like it's still just based on like giving
- 25:32people you could call it entertainment.
- 25:34Like if you were to classify the channel online, you classify
- 25:38that as entertainment, but ultimately like it's just
- 25:43showing that there is. Fun.
- 25:45Well, yeah. And I I think.
- 25:46It's not all hardcore that was. Like that was my plan six years
- 25:50ago was like, I mean, well, my plan initially, like very
- 25:54beginning was just to document stuff to watch later.
- 25:56But then when it sort of grew into something, my plan was like
- 25:59to fill the fun niche because no one in my mind was really doing
- 26:03that. And I still think that's
- 26:04somewhat true. So for us it was like really to
- 26:06just nail the fun and that's it. So it was kind of funny and tack
- 26:11the last day when I did the shotgun with those folks and did
- 26:14the whiskey or whatever. Awesome guys, by the way, in the
- 26:17parking lot there and gal, a guy didn't know the channel and he's
- 26:23like, hey, you know, tell me about the channel because like
- 26:25all his buddies knew. I was like, oh, you know, I
- 26:27don't know, it's called this. And like, we'd make videos and
- 26:29he goes, so do you guys do like educational stuff?
- 26:32I go, Nah, Nah. I said we have fun.
- 26:35And all his buddies were like, no, no, these are this is the
- 26:38fun guy. I mean, like, you know, so
- 26:39that's what I want it to be. And.
- 26:41Yeah. Yeah, and that's not what's kind
- 26:42of cool about it is as it's grown and you've chosen like the
- 26:46sponsors you you want, you know? Which like I do, though, you
- 26:50know, I pushed for it, but I think it was good timing.
- 26:53Yeah. But that's not to say you're
- 26:56just out there like Willy nilly slinging, you know, equipment
- 27:02that's ass that's not good or not quality like that.
- 27:05The education has not gone in in the pre filming of choosing that
- 27:10you. Choose to use.
- 27:11I mean, all of our sponsors are super dope.
- 27:14I mean, we got such a good line up now we got a new one we'll be
- 27:17announcing soon, but but and the sponsors are freaking solid.
- 27:21But what I think is best about that, it's not like you just
- 27:24waited for the one that'll offer you money, you know, are like,
- 27:28oh, I'm going to switch to this because they're going to offer
- 27:30money. It's like you're choosing what
- 27:32is quality on the market or what you just ran in the past, you
- 27:36know, sure, next. One.
- 27:38So yeah, next cue. Your favorite video we've made?
- 27:45Oh oh man, that's a tough one. I feel like I know your answer
- 27:52to. That I'm going to say like 5.
- 27:54I can't do just one. So I'm going to say.
- 27:55Like are they ranked in like top?
- 27:57No, no, I'm just going to throw like 5 out that I really like.
- 28:00So one would be the video with Cam that I did at performance.
- 28:06I really like that style and it kind of led me a little bit like
- 28:10to a style just because it's like such a fun vibe while
- 28:15shooting, but also like a conversation.
- 28:18I really like it. With that being said, I really
- 28:21liked the one I did with Paige as well a lot.
- 28:24And then I'm really proud of your elk hunt video.
- 28:30I think that's one of the best videos we've done as well.
- 28:32Your cow elk hunt, Really proud of that one.
- 28:35And obviously I really like the hat trick video.
- 28:38A lot would be in there for me. And then if I had to throw a
- 28:44fifth one, I would probably say the bison hunt.
- 28:47I really like the bison hunt. I know I'm part, I'm in the
- 28:51video for a total of about 10 seconds.
- 28:53But I, I as a creator, I really like the video a lot.
- 28:58And so yeah, that would be 5 that come to the top of my head.
- 29:01And then, yeah, I guess just like some of the tac videos
- 29:07we've done, like I love stuff like that.
- 29:09It's hard to say 1 because I've done so many, but that would be
- 29:12like 5 that come to my head right now.
- 29:15What about you? It's interesting because like we
- 29:19you are, it is basically like, you know, an archery fun
- 29:25channel. So like some of the hunt videos
- 29:27do really great numbers. Some of them just do, you know,
- 29:29good numbers like equal with the channel.
- 29:31None of them really pop off like, you know, crazy.
- 29:34But that's not what the niche is to what you do.
- 29:38But those seem to always be my favorite videos.
- 29:40I think it's just because I do like a bit more of the
- 29:43storytelling that gets involved in 2 hunt videos and you're
- 29:48there for the hunt. So like, you know, what's trying
- 29:52to be said in the video because you were there experiencing it
- 29:59and, and there's just so much more of like this.
- 30:02Like for me or other people who were at the hunt like relief
- 30:07watching the end of it because you know, like it was successful
- 30:10or wasn't or whatever, or for the the viewer like excitement
- 30:15to get to see it finally happen. So there's a lot like the one we
- 30:19did. I think it was probably the
- 30:20first hunt I was ever on with you.
- 30:22I think the one that has, I think my most favorite
- 30:27thumbnail, the one that we did that says persistence.
- 30:31Oh, yeah, yeah. And it's like the sunrise in the
- 30:34morning and just like glassing, like at the top of a hill or
- 30:37mountain. Yes, that video is pretty cool
- 30:39because that video is a compilation of like 5 hunt
- 30:42videos and I made it into more of like a film.
- 30:44It's longer and and yeah, I do. That's a good A.
- 30:47Good video for but then the hat trick obviously.
- 30:50Or or my most recent ELK video. Those are all my my kind of
- 30:56favorites. Yeah, I would throw a couple
- 30:58more in there that came to mind. Me and Ted have a classic
- 31:03javelina hunt from like 4-5 years ago where we're like
- 31:07totally surrounded by javelina. It's one of our highest viewed
- 31:10hunting videos. That one's really good.
- 31:13I really like the elk hunt where I shoot a bowl on like the last
- 31:17day and then surprise my oh, that's a trip.
- 31:19But that's what I'm talking. About banger, Yeah.
- 31:22And then yeah, I don't know, just and I, I love features too.
- 31:26So like, you know, doing the video with Bomar in the practice
- 31:30range, like just stuff like that that's different and fun.
- 31:32I really like and then something about the bread and butter too.
- 31:36Like, I like doing the freaking, you know, the King Arthur shoot
- 31:40and, you know, and, and the Halloween stuff, like.
- 31:43Those are fun. I want to do a King Arthur this
- 31:46year. It's coming up, but I want to do
- 31:47it in like the garb and stuff, but like stuff that's just like
- 31:50nobody else gonna do but like I'm A and.
- 31:52No one's showing up in a Mario costume film.
- 31:56That's what I'm saying. So like stuff like that I really
- 31:58like. Or like when we wore like beer
- 32:00pong Edish outfit. Oh, that's so good.
- 32:02Yeah. The the Oktoberfest, Yeah,
- 32:05that's great. Like stuff like that.
- 32:06The games like doing beer pong and stuff is classic.
- 32:09Just stuff that you're not gonna really see others do I think is
- 32:12pretty neat. Yeah, so I think the games is
- 32:15one of the most creative. Yeah, for sure.
- 32:18Things that you've then started to sell cuz it just started out
- 32:23with like US playing like. Drawing beer pong on a
- 32:28cardboard. Yeah, and then playing, you
- 32:30know, in the yard. Which I do gotta say, I wish I
- 32:33could give the channel credit, but I actually saw someone else
- 32:37do beer pong like maybe a year before we did it in a video and
- 32:41I said wow, that's kind of cool. I.
- 32:43Just drew it on a card. Yeah, I watched someone do it
- 32:46and unlike Instagram and I wish I knew who it was, I don't,
- 32:49unfortunately. I would shout him out, but I did
- 32:52see it. And then like a year later went
- 32:54we should try it. So we played and then it became
- 32:56like did a video, people liked it, made our own.
- 32:59And then that led to the golf game, to the baseball game,
- 33:02probably. And we played it for quite a few
- 33:04times, just drawing it before the game was ever.
- 33:06Created if you can't afford to go buy our I think the best
- 33:10bundle is the 9 pack of targets where you get three of three of
- 33:13each like I am. That's a steal.
- 33:16I think it's like 25 bucks. Well worth it.
- 33:18Super fun and a lot of the games you can play more than once on
- 33:20the paper other than maybe baseball gets kind of blown out
- 33:24after one. But I think it's a great bargain
- 33:28and in so much fun. But if you can't afford it or
- 33:31just don't want to buy something off the website, just draw it.
- 33:35It's still fun and you can play the same game.
- 33:38It's just like, not as pretty, but it's.
- 33:41So anyway, let's pop to the next.
- 33:43One, OK, I think there's only one left on well, is there?
- 33:46One other side and an inside. So we got to kind of.
- 33:49Reach No, I did both of these. So you did -1 question so.
- 33:51You just got the inside then. Yeah, there's the inside well.
- 33:54You said you had one more on the.
- 33:55Outside, I did, yeah. Oh, you're saving that one to
- 33:57last? You said that?
- 33:58Yeah. That and maybe this next one
- 34:00here. They'll save those to us.
- 34:03Easy one, huh? Best piece of equipment run.
- 34:09It's got to be my release, right?
- 34:10It's for you, I have to say. It's got to be that or the
- 34:15binos. I guess you've got to give
- 34:17credit to Carter for the release itself that has held up in the
- 34:22company itself, who will take it back and rebuild, rebuild it for
- 34:26you. But for a release that
- 34:28withstands, you know, 20 plus years of use.
- 34:31I really want to make another one, so if Carter watches this,
- 34:34someone at the company like I would love to do something, love
- 34:38to do a potentially let me know and.
- 34:41I think companies always think like, well, if we made it once
- 34:44and stop making it like obviously there's a better
- 34:46product for it that we make on the market now it's like.
- 34:50Just make both. Yeah, like I I disagree because.
- 34:53The Carter 4 in my opinion is not nearly as good, but that's
- 34:56just me personally. Well, I think they started like
- 34:57when you look at yours compared to mine or any other thumb
- 35:00button out there, they started making them so chunky.
- 35:04Mine is so thin and small and that's what part of the reason I
- 35:07love it so much. But anyway, let's keep it
- 35:09moving. But anyways, yeah, so biggest
- 35:12breakthrough. One Mimi.
- 35:15That's a good one. So I know exactly what it is.
- 35:19So anyway we in 20 shoot I think it was 2022 if I'm not mistaken.
- 35:27Me and my dad went on elk hunt and is very remote and at the
- 35:32time I was posting I think once a week maybe twice a week full
- 35:36length videos and I had not yet embraced shorts at all.
- 35:40Well, they were like just coming on the market.
- 35:42Yeah, I should have jumped on them a little bit sooner.
- 35:43But as I digress, it it wasn't like now where I had a bunch of
- 35:48videos in the bank. So I realized that going on this
- 35:51hunt, I was like, I'm not gonna be able to post for like a
- 35:53month, which for me is like, I don't like to do that.
- 35:56I said because I'm not gonna have a service.
- 35:59I can edit the video. I can't upload it, upload it.
- 36:01There's no way where we were hunting so but what I said is,
- 36:05well, what I can do is make shorts every day or in Reels and
- 36:11Facebook. Something that shorter to upload
- 36:13doesn't take. Long So what I started doing was
- 36:16every morning when I'd get my tree stand because I was doing a
- 36:19lot of tree stand hunting, I would go through our old videos
- 36:23and I would screen record bits that were like good and then I
- 36:26would cut them into shorts and then put them up on shorts.
- 36:28I would do that twice a day for I think it was 30 days straight.
- 36:31So every morning, every evening, sometimes even in the middle of
- 36:34the day. So I was doing two to three a
- 36:36day on Facebook, TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.
- 36:41And in that month, it was like everything went way up.
- 36:46Like Instagram went way up. Facebook went from like, I don't
- 36:50even know that we had a Facebook that might have been a little
- 36:52late. TikTok, same thing.
- 36:54So like, but that one month really changed the whole
- 36:57trajectory of of the channel and its growth curve.
- 37:01So easy answer for me. And then obviously I haven't let
- 37:07up on it since. Like I've been on basically the
- 37:09same thing for years now. And yeah, that was it had to.
- 37:15Obviously when you see something work that well, you're like
- 37:19pretty incentivized to to keep your foot on the gas pedal.
- 37:23All right, next one. All right, What would you do?
- 37:26You have a different answer or. A little bit, but you've talked
- 37:30about it before in prior podcasts and other people's
- 37:32podcasts. I really do think it was, you
- 37:34know, what would have been last year, you know, as you call it
- 37:41the wheat gummy. But you just making more
- 37:44conscious decisions, like on your own to to do what you feel
- 37:48is best for growth. And that it taking it allowed
- 37:54you to take more risks both financially and like business
- 38:01wise. You know, whether it was travel,
- 38:06going to travel to meet people to do videos, like not being
- 38:09waiting to see if they were gonna come here, just doing it.
- 38:13You know, I know you hate you don't hate it, but like you're
- 38:16always a little bit leery just for the sake of like legality
- 38:20and whatnot, like going on hunts with strangers.
- 38:24But even that's like allowed you to meet cool people and, and do
- 38:30things that you wouldn't normally have done for the last
- 38:3230 ish years of life. And definitely throughout the,
- 38:36the lifetime of the channel. And that in itself, you know,
- 38:40grew the channel in enormous amounts.
- 38:42I, I'd say you could classify in two growth spurts.
- 38:45It would be that one you're describing and last year's
- 38:49growth spurt. And both are attributed to
- 38:52something that you, you consciously chose to do.
- 38:58So you know they and you can't, you can't foreshadow when those
- 39:02are going to happen. You just have to keep making
- 39:04conscious choices in your channel.
- 39:05And either they'll will be one of those growth spurts or there
- 39:09might not be one, but they're still going to be growth, you
- 39:12know, normal growth. So you're never harming it.
- 39:14No in that way. Very well said, very well.
- 39:18Yes, yes, All right. Top five hunts.
- 39:27Top of my head I would go my Houdini buck which is on the
- 39:31channel. Video's ass is like 2019 but it
- 39:34is there so I go Houdini buck probably probably that 7 by 5.
- 39:42That bowl I shot in the water in the evening came back to the
- 39:46trailer. It's classic for me.
- 39:53I really liked stalking that forked horn mule deer you shot
- 39:58last year when I was filming. That was cool.
- 40:02But I guess it's probably like my personal hunts.
- 40:05I guess they're asking. How about you are named like 4?
- 40:17Yeah. And then?
- 40:19Alfred and Water. And seven by 5. 7 by 5.
- 40:23That's only three because the other one was ear hunt.
- 40:27I think they were asking like personal hunt.
- 40:31Oh man, I don't know. I really like the Koos deer I
- 40:34shot last year. That was a cool one.
- 40:37Or actually this year. And then probably the elk hunt I
- 40:44did in 20 in 2020 was awesome. Great hunt.
- 40:48End up shooting a good 5 by 5. Had opportunities at a bigger
- 40:53elk, missed a much bigger elk. So yeah, I don't know.
- 40:57I've had a lot of good hunts, been very blessed to have a lot
- 40:59of good hunts, but those are some of them.
- 41:01Very nice. Is that everything nice?
- 41:03No, no, no. There's two more.
- 41:05What about you? You want to name some of yours?
- 41:07I love that mule deer hunt. I love that mule deer hunt.
- 41:10And your elk hunt was classic. Yeah, the elk would probably be
- 41:14up there in a lot of lessons learned.
- 41:16So up there in the top five, of course, you know it's your first
- 41:19elk regardless of it being a coward bull.
- 41:22Not really my technically my first elk.
- 41:24They could, I guess you could say got an elk in my second
- 41:27season of hunting elk. Yes, that first one where I did
- 41:30a couple weeks with you sitting. Almost got one that time too,
- 41:34when we stocked in on that group, yeah.
- 41:36Yeah, yeah. So my elk, mule deer just cuz, I
- 41:44mean, it was like crazy. The weather just turned to
- 41:47absolute butt and still managed to get it done that you know, my
- 41:54furthest shot ever that you know for me, you could say I would I
- 41:58would reel in my effective range.
- 42:01You know it it was a lethal shot, but I don't think I would
- 42:04ever choose to do something like that again.
- 42:09And once it's not on film because prior to you would have
- 42:14been my Kentucky deer that no one ever sees because it lives
- 42:17in Florida with Britney. But that was just like my first
- 42:23time ever getting to see like real sized deer, you know, like
- 42:27we get baby deer. No, there's real big deer in
- 42:29Florida, just not where we we haunted.
- 42:33And so it's the first time getting to sit and like see
- 42:36massive deer. And yeah, so that would be a
- 42:43third one. Maybe first bakery?
- 42:46Yeah, any. Well, that's tough.
- 42:50Or your second peccary. I I'm just going to classify any
- 42:53peccary hunts always going to go on the I.
- 42:55Love peccary. Yeah, so.
- 42:56Because it's just such a fun experience like you can get so
- 43:01close for. Them always goes to 1,000,000 of
- 43:03peccaries. They never stop moving.
- 43:06There's always so many of them around.
- 43:08So you're trying to watch for so many sets of eyes and like,
- 43:11unless they're winding you and you're as long as you're not
- 43:13moving, like they truly just don't give a flying F.
- 43:16Like they don't know you're there.
- 43:18So, But yeah, it's still like you're so worried about it, so
- 43:21you just get freaked out and oh, your.
- 43:25Coos was really good too. I just remembered the Coos.
- 43:29Oh yeah, yeah. That one just happened in such a
- 43:31whirlwind that like, I don't really classify it up there in
- 43:35like one of the most exciting, right?
- 43:38You know, Javelina, definitely exciting.
- 43:42So anyway, that's 5. Yeah.
- 43:44So all right, BD in five years, where do you see it?
- 43:50Five years. Well, I mean, certainly, I
- 44:04definitely think, you know, it's already my full time thing, but
- 44:07I think like at that point it'll be like like pretty pretty
- 44:14lucrative. I would be my guess, which will
- 44:18be cool. And then obviously five years
- 44:23from now, I mean, I would like to think probably 1,000,000 Subs
- 44:29probably, you know, I mean, I know it's a big growth curve
- 44:33because it took six, almost six years to get to 100.
- 44:36But I think the next 5, I think it'll just compound a lot more.
- 44:40And I think 1,000,005 is probably doable and, and likely.
- 44:47So that's going to be what I'm, what I'm shooting for and just
- 44:50keep, keep going, you know, keep having fun, keep improving my
- 44:56shooting, my hunting, my filming, just kind of make
- 45:00everything incrementally better over time and keep it moving.
- 45:03And, you know, hopefully have all all my same partnerships
- 45:10then just five years later and maybe add a new one like, you
- 45:14know, get a truck sponsor or something or I don't know,
- 45:18whatever, just kind of keep growing and having a good time.
- 45:21But that's what I would say. What would you say?
- 45:23Yeah. In five years, yeah, I could.
- 45:27I, I think we talked about this last night.
- 45:29I could see it. I could see it being there at
- 45:311,000,000. So definitely still full time in
- 45:39five years. Hopefully, I for sure not.
- 45:43Hopefully it would be full time for both of us, me on the back
- 45:46end and you obviously as like you know the the owner and star
- 45:51of the chair that'll. Definitely happen with yeah.
- 45:54Yeah. So in five like as the question
- 45:56what, where is it in five years that would that would be my
- 45:59answer. And then the last question is
- 46:06trying to understand your the next milestone.
- 46:13We'll leave it with this. Oh, I mean, obviously I would
- 46:17love to do a million within 5, but I guess like a closer one
- 46:20would be a milestone. So I have a couple.
- 46:31One would be 100 million views, which is pretty close.
- 46:38I mean, I think we got like 20 million to go, which is a lot,
- 46:41but it's like. And now that's like Lifetime on
- 46:44the channel. Yeah.
- 46:44So 100 million views I think is pretty close, probably happens
- 46:49this year would be my guess, but you never know.
- 46:52And then I don't know, I guess the next big sub mark would be
- 46:56like 2250, like 1/4 mil would be the next big one.
- 47:00So those would be the next 100 million views and 250,000 Subs.
- 47:05I think those would be like the next ones down the list.
- 47:09But yeah, just keep it moving, having fun, being the people's
- 47:13champ and yeah, that's it. You know, like I never want to
- 47:16be like, like the cuck. I don't want to be like a Dick
- 47:20to. Be I'm going to get you a trophy
- 47:21of you like just shaking hands with another human and I'm going
- 47:25to underneath it should say the people's champ.
- 47:28Paul Wall, baby. That's the rapper.
- 47:30They call the peoples the peoples champ.
- 47:32Yeah, yeah. So I'm kind of the Paul Wall of
- 47:35archery YouTube. Right.
- 47:37Yeah. Yeah, shout out to Paul Wall.
- 47:40For sure. From Houston.
- 47:42See Still Alive or Paul Wall. Yeah, of.
- 47:45Course. OK.
- 47:46Yeah. He's white, wears grills.
- 47:50Legend Paul Wall, a legend like he might be on the white rapper
- 47:53Mount Rushmore. I would put him close.
- 47:55It's definitely close. It's iconic.
- 47:59You got to have M up there, obviously, so that's one spot
- 48:01gone. We really have diverted.
- 48:03On So you got M, you got Paul Wall, you got to go Beastie
- 48:09Boys, but you can only pick 1, so you put one of them up there
- 48:13and that leaves US1 space, maybe Mac Miller.
- 48:18Sure, other than Eminem, I have no idea who any of the people
- 48:21are you just named. But anyways, it's been a
- 48:24pleasure. Congrats on the 100.
- 48:27Alvi obviously wants to congratulate you and we got a
- 48:31lot of cleaning up to do and we're just going to keep
