- 0:32Speaker 1: and we've put out quite a bit of content this
- 0:35Speaker 1: season and it's all for you guys, so we appreciate that.
- 0:38Speaker 2: If you get a chance, make sure you check out.
- 0:41Speaker 1: The WBCB show with myself and Jeff Mosher from Chicky's
- 0:46Speaker 1: and PiZZ and Marlton.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Great conversation there.
- 0:49Speaker 1: It's always good when Jeff and I get a chance
- 0:51Speaker 1: to chop it up, and I really enjoyed that.
- 0:54Speaker 2: I think you will as well.
- 0:55Speaker 1: We covered a lot of bases there, from power to post,
- 0:59Speaker 1: with the the pass game against the Commanders and also
- 1:04Speaker 1: previewing Eagles bills and talking about some of the some
- 1:07Speaker 1: of the injuries and and really everything. We got into
- 1:09Speaker 1: a lot, So you can grab that on the Inside
- 1:13Speaker 1: the Birds platform or you can check it out on
- 1:16Speaker 1: our YouTube page. I believe it is up there presently
- 1:21Speaker 1: as I record this podcast. So the Eagles had a
- 1:26Speaker 1: practice today and today was the It was a Wednesday,
- 1:30Speaker 1: but it was reminiscent of their Thursday practice, So we
- 1:33Speaker 1: got to see about twenty five minutes of it and
- 1:36Speaker 1: there's a lot, a lot you could you could glean
- 1:40Speaker 1: from it. So I like to kind of set the
- 1:42Speaker 1: scene here and the team when we walk in, they're
- 1:45Speaker 1: stretching on the on a far field, and then after
- 1:48Speaker 1: the stretch breaks, you have on the field nearest to
- 1:52Speaker 1: the gate. You have the pump returners on one side
- 1:54Speaker 1: fielding punts.
- 1:56Speaker 2: And you have on the other side.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Eagles defensive backs coach Christian Parker working with dor Jackson, Quinya, Mitchell,
- 2:05Speaker 1: Cooper dejen got some work in there after he was
- 2:07Speaker 1: doing some of the some work with the punt returners.
- 2:10Speaker 1: And then on the other field adjacent, if you will,
- 2:14Speaker 1: it was the offensive line. So that's where I went
- 2:16Speaker 1: first to really see and take stock as to who
- 2:21Speaker 1: was there. Lane Johnson was not there. Didn't see him,
- 2:24Speaker 1: did not see Landon Dickerson either. So Brett Toath was
- 2:28Speaker 1: working with the with the ones there and he's really
- 2:32Speaker 1: the first guy up. That shouldn't really be a surprise,
- 2:34Speaker 1: but that was that was the scene Fred Johnson, of
- 2:39Speaker 1: course repping at right tackle as he's done in the
- 2:43Speaker 1: absence of Lane Johnson.
- 2:45Speaker 2: So that was that was really it.
- 2:47Speaker 1: And then they do the the strips the strip circuit.
- 2:51Speaker 1: So I mentioned this before and it's kind of hard
- 2:53Speaker 1: to describe, but players will get in the line and
- 2:57Speaker 1: they attacked this pad that has a football. They'll crow
- 3:02Speaker 1: to the side and they're supposed to dislodge the football.
- 3:05Speaker 2: And then that player will then go to a neighboring.
- 3:10Speaker 1: It's sort of like an elevated pad almost looks like
- 3:15Speaker 1: a platform, and then the player who went before them,
- 3:21Speaker 1: they'll one will hold the football, the other one strips
- 3:24Speaker 1: it and they kind of tumble onto that platform. Then
- 3:26Speaker 1: the other player who follows them in the line will.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Do the same thing.
- 3:30Speaker 1: They'll hold the football and then we'll have it stripped
- 3:34Speaker 1: from them, and then that's really what we're able to see.
- 3:37Speaker 1: But it covers about twenty five minutes. So that was
- 3:42Speaker 1: that was Wednesday's practice, and I have the injury report
- 3:46Speaker 1: for you and it's there's a lot there's some optimism
- 3:50Speaker 1: there and then we'll get into some of the takeaways
- 3:54Speaker 1: from that.
- 3:55Speaker 2: So let's get to it. Not practicing today.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Wide receiver a brown teeth, it's believed to be a
- 4:02Speaker 1: wisdom tooth. Linebacker to Kobe Dean hamstring guard Landon Dickerson illness, tackle,
- 4:07Speaker 1: Lane Johnson foot full participants linebacker Zach Bond, hand, linebacker
- 4:13Speaker 1: Jahad Campbell back ankle, defensive tackle Jalen Carter's shoulders, tackle
- 4:18Speaker 1: Fred Johnson, CAF tight end Cameron Lot two stinger, wide
- 4:22Speaker 1: receiver Devonte Smith illness, tackle Cameron Williams shoulder. It was
- 4:26Speaker 1: really good to see Jalen Carter out there for the
- 4:29Speaker 1: second consecutive day. Remember he missed the three games he
- 4:33Speaker 1: was out there. I'll get to that in a moment,
- 4:35Speaker 1: because he spoke in the locker room on Thursday. On Wednesday,
- 4:38Speaker 1: I'm getting all my days mixed up here. And it
- 4:41Speaker 1: was also good to see Cameron Lot to work and
- 4:45Speaker 1: just be available and be out there, because let's not
- 4:48Speaker 1: forget he entered Saturday's game listed as questionable with that stinger,
- 4:54Speaker 1: and he was a full participant that Thursday leading into it.
- 4:58Speaker 1: But if you listen to Jeffer Adam in their pregame show,
- 5:03Speaker 1: or it may have been their injury recap where they
- 5:05Speaker 1: talked about it about how those injuries can sometimes linger
- 5:11Speaker 1: right and after you get a day's worth of practice,
- 5:15Speaker 1: and sometimes your body doesn't necessarily respond and maybe there
- 5:18Speaker 1: is a setback. So clearly there was something there and
- 5:21Speaker 1: cam Lotsu wasn't able to go, but strong start to
- 5:25Speaker 1: the week for him. The Eagles reconvene on Friday for
- 5:29Speaker 1: their final practice of the week, so we'll get more
- 5:32Speaker 1: clarity on some of these other injuries and non participants.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Nakobe Dean with the hamstring. Vic Vangio said on Tuesday
- 5:42Speaker 1: that it would be iffy for him to play this week. Look,
- 5:45Speaker 1: hamstring injuries can be very fickle, and the last thing
- 5:48Speaker 1: you want to do, especially when the weather is this cold,
- 5:51Speaker 1: you don't want to risk reaggravation. Obviously, it's a soft
- 5:54Speaker 1: tissue injury, and Vicvangiel also intimated that it wasn't as
- 5:59Speaker 1: severe as maybe some initially believed, so good stuff there.
- 6:05Speaker 1: And then you also have Jahid Campbell, who was playing
- 6:08Speaker 1: at a very high level. I thought prior to na
- 6:11Speaker 1: Kobe Dean's insertion as a starting linebacker in Vic Fangio's defense,
- 6:16Speaker 1: so he's going to get an extended look there and
- 6:19Speaker 1: landon Dickerson with the illness, he didn't practice. He wasn't
- 6:22Speaker 1: out there on Tuesday. He wasn't out there on Wednesday.
- 6:26Speaker 1: And Lane Johnson, of course, with the foot I haven't
- 6:29Speaker 1: seen Lane Johnson. He wasn't out there. Landon Dickerson wasn't
- 6:33Speaker 1: out there. Nakobe Dean was out there on the practice field,
- 6:36Speaker 1: but he was a spectator. So Jalen Carter spoke in
- 6:42Speaker 1: the locker room, and it was great to hear from
- 6:44Speaker 1: Jalen because with him getting some practices under his belt
- 6:50Speaker 1: after the shoulders injury, he mentioned that, you know, I
- 6:55Speaker 1: want to play blocks better and use my hands more.
- 6:58Speaker 1: The shoulders was kind of restricting it, but I still
- 7:01Speaker 1: tried to fight through it, and that's when you've seen
- 7:03Speaker 1: the transition of me playing the run.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Less and more pass rushing.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Carter also said that the shoulders injury feels better, but
- 7:12Speaker 1: added he's still working on it daily and getting the
- 7:14Speaker 1: strength back, and then when asked about the pain, he said,
- 7:17Speaker 1: I'm doing the same thing I was doing before, but
- 7:19Speaker 1: now with less pain. He also said that it's probably
- 7:23Speaker 1: something they're going to have to revisit in the offseason,
- 7:26Speaker 1: but he's not thinking about that. Right now, and he said,
- 7:30Speaker 1: I you know, when I asked eighty ninety one hundred
- 7:33Speaker 1: percent for the postseason, he said, probably not, but I'm
- 7:37Speaker 1: going to give one hundred and ten percent and do
- 7:39Speaker 1: whatever I can to really help the team.

- 11:20Speaker 3: great prices, and an experience made for Philly fans twenty
- 11:23Speaker 3: one and up.
- 11:25Speaker 1: And he said that was his second major injury.
- 11:28Speaker 2: He had one at Georgia. I think he said it
- 11:30Speaker 2: was an MCL.
- 11:31Speaker 1: He's had a season in which it kind of you know,
- 11:35Speaker 1: he missed the first game that was his own doing.
- 11:37Speaker 1: The heel injury took him out of the first Giants
- 11:39Speaker 1: game and then these three games there. But he was
- 11:42Speaker 1: still elected to the Pro Bowl. And he said, you know,
- 11:46Speaker 1: it's it means a lot. You know, his name's still
- 11:48Speaker 1: out there and he wants to I think the word
- 11:52Speaker 1: that he use, I just got to make sure that
- 11:53Speaker 1: it's not going to be, you know, a downfall, so
- 11:55Speaker 1: he wants to make sure that he keeps uplifting and
- 11:58Speaker 1: I guess living up to his reputation and not letting
- 12:01Speaker 1: that necessarily define him, if I were to sort of
- 12:04Speaker 1: interpret what he was saying with that. But he expects
- 12:10Speaker 1: to play on Sunday, which is great news. And he
- 12:13Speaker 1: also said that he had some good, you know, some
- 12:16Speaker 1: good knockbacks from the offensive lineman where he was really
- 12:19Speaker 1: able to test that shoulder, So that's really encouraging. Now
- 12:25Speaker 1: he said he wants to play every snap. I have
- 12:26Speaker 1: a hard time envisioning the Eagles being willing to do so.
- 12:29Speaker 1: I imagine that they're going to take sort of a
- 12:32Speaker 1: gradual approach there, especially since he hasn't played football in
- 12:35Speaker 1: a number of weeks, and with someone that critical to
- 12:40Speaker 1: the success of the defense, you have to It's difficult
- 12:44Speaker 1: because you need to strike that balance. You want to
- 12:46Speaker 1: get him work and you want to make sure that
- 12:49Speaker 1: his conditioning is where it needs to be at this
- 12:52Speaker 1: stage of the season after that layoff, but you also
- 12:55Speaker 1: want to protect the player and make sure that he's
- 12:58Speaker 1: not overdoing it, over exert himself, and I think other players,
- 13:02Speaker 1: whether it was Jordan Davis, whether it was Moro, Jomo,
- 13:05Speaker 1: Byron Young.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Brandon Graham.
- 13:07Speaker 1: I thought they did a nice job holding the FOURT
- 13:09Speaker 1: down until Carter was able to make his way back
- 13:12Speaker 1: from the procedure on his shoulders. But if you go
- 13:16Speaker 1: back to that Bears game, after that game he said
- 13:20Speaker 1: he you know, he said cryptically something about, you know,
- 13:26Speaker 1: no one knows what he's what he's going through. He
- 13:29Speaker 1: didn't want to elaborate on it. And then days later
- 13:31Speaker 1: it was you know, the shoulders and when you see Jay,
- 13:34Speaker 1: when Carter not be able to push off and he's
- 13:37Speaker 1: sort of going around blocks and things like that. Clearly,
- 13:40Speaker 1: even to the eye watching the game live, he wasn't
- 13:43Speaker 1: playing like himself, and so it certainly raised some questions.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Now we have the answers, and it's good to see
- 13:50Speaker 1: him back out there in the mix. And far as
- 13:52Speaker 1: far as linebackers go, having Nikobe Deen sideline, let's say,
- 13:58Speaker 1: even if he doesn't play against the Bill, which it
- 14:00Speaker 1: seems likely that he won't, the Eagles have an.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Embarrassment of riches at linebacker.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Joe hot Campbell has played well and then you have
- 14:09Speaker 1: Trotter behind him, who had a really good training camp smile.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Mandin's doing some good things on special teams.
- 14:15Speaker 1: And yeah, I mean, I think you feel good about
- 14:18Speaker 1: the linebacker situation. There's no need to rush to Kobe
- 14:21Speaker 1: Dean back until he's ready, especially given how important he
- 14:25Speaker 1: is to the success of the defense. It's a soft
- 14:28Speaker 1: tissue injury, but I think all things considered, when that
- 14:32Speaker 1: injury happened, you know, there's always going to be that
- 14:34Speaker 1: concern when it happened in the game. But when you
- 14:37Speaker 1: heard hamstring and then you hear Vic Vangio sort of
- 14:40Speaker 1: say on Tuesday that it didn't get the sense that
- 14:43Speaker 1: it was as severe as maybe some thought initially, that's encouraging.
- 14:48Speaker 1: We'll have to wait and see what happens with Landon
- 14:50Speaker 1: Dickerson this week. With the illness Lane Johnson, it doesn't
- 14:54Speaker 1: seem likely that you're going to see him against the
- 14:57Speaker 1: Buffalo Bills, but they're sort of the The update from
- 15:01Speaker 1: the Eagles novacare complex and there won't be a podcast tomorrow.
- 15:06Speaker 2: It's Christmas. I will also be spending time with my.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Family, but again I want to wish you all happy
- 15:13Speaker 1: happy Holidays. I hope you enjoy the time the day
- 15:17Speaker 1: with your family and we'll pick things right back up
- 15:20Speaker 1: on Friday, when the Eagles have their normal schedule. There
- 15:24Speaker 1: will be Nick Sirianni who will hear from practice, will
- 15:27Speaker 1: be at about twelve thirty ish, and then there'll be
- 15:30Speaker 1: the locker room and then the Eagles, Eagles and Bills,
- 15:34Speaker 1: all the hayze in the barn at that point Eagles
- 15:36Speaker 1: Bills Sunday. But for now, that's going to do it
- 15:38Speaker 1: for this edition of the Czecho Daily. I'm Andrew Decheco,
- 15:41Speaker 1: and I will catch you on the next one.
