- 0:00Taking ununeasy. That's a dream to tell us everybody. Hello there, keyboards
- 0:16gamer is this is Christian Peterson from Ghost Galaxy and you're listening to Arkhon's corner.
- 0:20All right, what's going on? Everybody? I am the one,
- 0:22the only, the w o O okay, I joined here by the normal
- 0:26cast of misfits. We got the Hey, we got ewalk Hello, keyboards
- 0:33community. You got a shortened intro this week, sorry or not? We
- 0:40got ship yes, as per norm, and we got Southerly hely draft scorers
- 0:48on assignment. This week. He is staking out the gig game Center for
- 0:54the best available seats for losing is what I what I've gotten. But we
- 1:00had gen Con this past weekend. We took the last week off for everybody
- 1:06to go to gen Con? Boys, how was gen Con? Busy?
- 1:11Busy? Yeah? Buy lots of walking, So you say busy. I
- 1:17actually had the most amount of time that I've ever had at gen Con.
- 1:19But I will agree there was another round one loss. Huh round two?
- 1:26Oh? Sorry, nope, that's nobody's gonna laugh about it. No,
- 1:33nobody, just me. I think he lost on round one. No,
- 1:37technically a play styles joke, you know how when you lose round one,
- 1:42you get like a three hour by Yeah. No, actually my my my
- 1:46reason for walking was trying to find contact solution. A little kios did not
- 1:51have it in our hotel, so I walked to Yeah, I mean it
- 1:57was a CVS kiosk Oh, it was a okay, yeah, it was
- 2:00a CVS Chias. So I walked outside of our exhibit hall and found the
- 2:06closest gas station and speedway usually would have it, and they did not.
- 2:10That was also a very shoddy speedway. I would seriously question going in there
- 2:15ever ever again. And change your pants this trip? Change my pants?
- 2:22Yeah, or didn't? You almost got arrested a Philly because you're changing I
- 2:25mean, it was just it was just really hot. So I went ahead
- 2:29and de robed into some shorts for Philly. But that was in the back
- 2:32of your ascors, car Man. Good, No, no problems. In
- 2:36Indianapolis, they're a little more lenient with the taking off of the pants role.
- 2:42No, I just simply had shorts on the whole time. But then
- 2:45I already didn't change him in order to avoid that mess. But I did.
- 2:50I go ahead and walk another two miles to be able to locate the
- 2:53final CBS, so I'm very happy. The first night I headed out and
- 2:58I turned around at like twelve fifteen, so I'm glad I didn't try and
- 3:00do it at that time of hour. But this was just in the afternoon.
- 3:04It was a fun walk. I also met Jive, who happened to
- 3:08be one of the owners from Queen Games, and struck up a really nice
- 3:14conversation, so it was a really good time overall. He walk was on
- 3:19double duty on his brown nosing. He was just laying it out. And
- 3:23actually when I was over at Speedway, I did pick up milk and then
- 3:29walked the two miles. I would not recommend doing that, but as the
- 3:31milk made it. But when I was walking, I ran into this gentleman
- 3:36leaving the Speedway lots. I did not want to send anyone there, and
- 3:39I almost questioned whether I should just beg someone to give me a ride because
- 3:45I had walked quite a bit that day already. But it worked out because
- 3:49as I was coming out of that parking lot, Rejive was there and he
- 3:53was trying to find his restaurant for the night, and he was in the
- 3:58absolute wrung director, So I mean like he was going last, and he
- 4:03needed to be east of the convention center. But it just ended up turning
- 4:09into a really nice conversation. I got to talk about families and things that
- 4:14are a little bit more important. And the farther I walked, I actually
- 4:17suggested, there's something more important than key Forge. I wasn't them now,
- 4:23I wasn't playing key Forge Thursday. It was it was supposed to him.
- 4:29Yeah, yeah, I did talk about key Forge, so I mean there
- 4:35was something there, but no, I had no idea who he was until
- 4:40he actually got there, and I was just walking in the same direction.
- 4:44So I'm like, all right, I'll take you. And then he started
- 4:46speaking fluent German and showed me his directions, which were all in German.
- 4:53So my ability to decipher German is limited. Thanks to a good friends who
- 4:59grew up on a Air Force base over there, I have some German,
- 5:02but very very little. So it was it was interesting. But the further
- 5:05we walked, nice gentleman took a three tenths of a mile detour to make
- 5:11sure he got directly to spot and turned around. It was it was a
- 5:15good day. It was sunny, a German foreign language deck there there we
- 5:20go that would be fun. Milk. Oh this this one was two percent
- 5:28because Ewok likes to go ahead and rock and roll was some cinnamonto scrunch and
- 5:34Sheep would Sheep was holding me hostage and would not let me stop. The
- 5:39night before. Wha, how is sheep holding you? Now? He drove
- 5:45and he is like, you're not getting milk. No, this will go
- 5:49ahead and tilt you and you will not be able to play blood Sugar.
- 5:55I win. After the last trip to Minnesota, I know Sheep's Shenanigans.
- 5:59Who will in the back of a car of a minivan? I was unaware
- 6:02he was driving. So the big question for you all, gentlemen, is
- 6:06where were you Thursday morning? M hm hm was wandering around lost? Or
- 6:16was he sitting three dollars worth the magic of the gathering car? That was
- 6:21Wednesday night? Sorry, yeah, and Wednesday night Sheep was having a lot
- 6:27of fun. We did have a stop by visit from our good friend George
- 6:30Keegel. Thank you very much for pulling over to double check on us.
- 6:33Cheap What happened when we were driving your bat juju got us a flat tire?
- 6:41Oh boy, twenty minutes before it becomes seven thirty and everything shut down.
- 6:48We got a big old quarter inch silver tube stuck in the tire that
- 6:56clearly drove over something. Clearly you didn't missed the giant tube in the middle
- 7:00of the road. Giant. Yeah, it's a quarter inch hole and you're
- 7:05tire though, sure seems giant. Yeah did it blow or was it just
- 7:12flat? No? Picture a cylinder that is like a miniature straw and it
- 7:18puncture right through. But yeah, that lets air out right away, and
- 7:23it just deflated. That's what I was asking. Did it deflate or did
- 7:27it like blow to the point where you had rubber? It deflated and ewok
- 7:32got me to successfully go to a store and we bought just a patch kit.
- 7:36We patched ourselves. An hour and a half later, we were back
- 7:41on our way. Well, I mean we we did stop at a tire
- 7:46place, yes, but that's a boring story, so we don't tell it.
- 7:48You guys will have a very large affinity for blowing tires. I do
- 7:54believe the first of all tour that we ever were all at you also blew
- 7:58a tire. I don't remember that. Yes, is that the one where
- 8:03I had to go to the costco and get a tire request. Oh yeah,
- 8:05yeah, I do. I took you there. Yep. We also
- 8:11leading up to this, e Walk really had to go to the bathroom,
- 8:15but we were in construction and Sheep's like, no, no bathroom, and
- 8:18so we're talking about I actually need to We're we've been in the car for
- 8:22like an hour, and he's like talking like yes people, but I'm like,
- 8:26do I actually need to stop? And he's like no, no,
- 8:28I'm fine, I gotta teach you blad. I'm like, okay, so
- 8:31I'm just gonna keep driving. Then later he's like so about this being,
- 8:33I'm like, do you actually have to be No, No, I don't
- 8:35actually have to pee, And I'm like, okay, so I'm just gonna
- 8:37keep driving. So you must remember that I have an additional hour plus drive
- 8:43in addition to that. So we were except Pete at my work in the
- 8:48grass that this is true. But once you open that veils, man,
- 8:52you can't turn it off. Is that a step up from the peeing we
- 8:56normally do in the parking ride? Yes, yeah, yeah, it's kind
- 9:01of tradition. But there was a little like barrier, so I hopped over
- 9:05that and then I just disappeared for a little bit. It's kind of tradition's
- 9:07workplace. Well, normally you find a car that nobody's in it, or
- 9:13in Sheep's case, you pee right next to the car with someone in it
- 9:18and you just peek. Yeah, that only happened once, but it was
- 9:24funny enough, So all right, I mean it was It was a good
- 9:28time. But we got to tire on and off. George stopped by to
- 9:31check on us. We were good. There's something about Indianapolis. Something always
- 9:35has to go wrong. Last time we ended up in Michigan, you know,
- 9:41you know, we we did try, but Sheep would not take me
- 9:45to Michigan. This time. No, we weren't headed in Detroit. Probably
- 9:48for the better really, to be honest. So you you said Thursday morning,
- 9:54I don't know where were you guys Thursday morning. I know where I
- 9:56was Thursday morning, and that was exciting. I was, well, you're
- 9:58at work, okay, I think Thursday, Sheep and me I headed over
- 10:03to the to the stadium to play some unchained Sheep. Sheep did a really
- 10:09welter's day. Sheep is now you're unchained champion. I feel like there should
- 10:13be a title belt that roams around for the unchained champion with my sweet prizes
- 10:20of some sleeves and an on chained deck. Zee who didn't win the chained
- 10:24battles? What'd you get? I got some sleeves and an unchained deck for
- 10:28coming in second? You want difference between first and second? See walk would
- 10:37you get? I got Laura Conna? Oh oh, I got Laura Khna.
- 10:43We got to work for a company on paid, then buy an overhyped
- 10:48product and screw some person out of their money. Like, I think we
- 10:52had a much better day. All right. So Draft had Draft had never
- 10:56been into gen Con at all, so it is a good friends. I
- 11:01walked him in. I'm like, hey, we'll go into the exhibit all
- 11:03but I also wanted to get some more kana from my girls and myself,
- 11:07and I'm sold at all. You profiteering, incorrect one. That's all always
- 11:15saying that that's a good thing. Yeah and incorrect. I still have the
- 11:18starters. The girls each opened up one and we're all happy. I'm but
- 11:24happy. We went in and dress like. We actually went in the wrong
- 11:28hall to start. It was more of a game center where people are playing,
- 11:33Like, I don't think this is right we squiggled back and I had
- 11:37seen from our Lord Kana Discord that people had been there since three thirty in
- 11:41the morning and five thirty and something. I'm like, oh, I'm not
- 11:45getting anything at all. So I went ahead and we were going through,
- 11:52and I'm like, dress follow me because you know we're skinnyish. And I
- 11:56start leading through and I'm in, like, giddo, I've seen you.
- 12:07This is a very very tight group that is out in front of our doors.
- 12:13And I turned around and draz Scores nowhere to be found. So I
- 12:18lost them lost. I lost drazz Core and I could not find drazz Core
- 12:24and did you have a tag on them? You know, I should have
- 12:26put an air tag on them. I really should have because there were seventy
- 12:31thousand people there this year, guys. This is not a new record seventy
- 12:33thousand. So yeah, I went in. I was hanging out with the
- 12:37Lorkana individuals. John t was right behind me, some some big personalities,
- 12:43and they open up the doors. Everyone floods in and it was a massive
- 12:46stampede. I'm actually bracing for the young lady who's behind me with her husband.
- 12:54I've been there, were we we know we know this process. There
- 12:58was a lady who was with her daughter and her grandchild. They were pushing
- 13:03the stroller and there were two wheelchairs and all of a sudden we hear this
- 13:07blood curdling scream. So someone had a panic attack and went down, and
- 13:13all of the lor Kana Kana people had been stationed. They had a nice,
- 13:16beautiful line, but gen Con actually took down that line and said,
- 13:20Nope, we don't have lines here at gen Con, so deal with it.
- 13:24And that was not a good choice. Gen Con. That was so
- 13:26not a good choice. So everyone streamed in in two different doors. We
- 13:31had a panic attack, we were helping someone off on the side. People
- 13:35kept squiggling around and when I get to the lor Kana booth, I again
- 13:43continue to squiggle through and there are like eight different lines trying to get into
- 13:48this lar Khana booth and there's like five people working the lor Khana booth and
- 13:52I'm like, oh my goodness. So our line did not move for easily
- 13:58ten minutes, and t for me just could not handle that. So teacher
- 14:03Me said, hey, guys, I'm gonna go step over these lines.
- 14:07I'm going to direct it. And someone called me warlord and I'm like,
- 14:11I'm not a warlord. I just can't handle this chaos. And later they
- 14:15came back and called me warlord again because I did step over the lines.
- 14:18And then they're like, hey, so and so is talking. I was
- 14:20talking to some other YouTubers and I just said, hey, I don't really
- 14:28care. I'm giving up my spot. I want to go here to be
- 14:30able to help. And I spend the next forty minutes being a Ravensburger employee
- 14:35and directing them. And it's not difficult. Tell me how many people are
- 14:39in your party. You hauled up hands. We had a lot of international
- 14:41people there, people from England, from Germany, from Netherlands. People were
- 14:45brand new who were here for the game. It was kind of cool.
- 14:50So next forty minutes I literally directed. I got some meats, heads up
- 14:54people from Ravensburger, and we finally got it down to a single file line.
- 14:58So while these guys were playing some KeyForge, I had a great time
- 15:01and I'm like, hey, we're down a single file and I went through.
- 15:05I got one box sheep and three starters because we were starters. Waited
- 15:11it was it was, but there was they had sleeves and you had a
- 15:18weird talent for getting employed by companies that don't employ you. No, no
- 15:22spoils for the warlord. No. Actually the spoil is I didn't have to
- 15:28be there. And there was individuals from China I also met who come up
- 15:31at twelve thirty and I got them in. But I came in a lot
- 15:37later, and I was able to get product on that first day. And
- 15:41I will tell you on Friday, Saturday and Sunday they actually had a line
- 15:45and they had wristbands and it was much more organized and it was much better.
- 15:50But on Thursday we maintained the chaos. I'm actually known on the discords
- 15:54now for lor Kana because I was the man in the red shirts. I
- 16:00guess Blue Blue Shirt band had created a bunch of casks in the morning,
- 16:03but Red Shirt Man helped them out and I got some pictures. I smiled.
- 16:07I did put up my box and it did sell before I finished lunch,
- 16:12Like I literally put it up as I was going into lunch at to
- 16:15something, and within ten minutes it was already gone. So I felt content
- 16:21there. I get harassed by sheep, but what was in the box support?
- 16:27I totally did that with fab Yeah, And to be honest, people
- 16:30were opening, People were opening and getting their enchantments and selling them for one
- 16:34to four thousand dollars, and an enchantment falls in every two to three boxes.
- 16:38So I feel fine with what I made out. It was a good
- 16:42time and I'm I'm not in the worst shape here, So all right,
- 16:48I had some fun, good stories. We're not here to talk about war
- 16:52conor sure we are I think is better or are we you never know,
- 16:59But today we're here to talk about what happened during the US Nationals events.
- 17:06We had Nationals. This this is whole this whole week was about Nationals.
- 17:11Yea the smallest major event ever if we considered a major. Well, they
- 17:18were stricted. They didn't have the space and they couldn't go ahead and open
- 17:21it up tickets and they still don't. Sixty six people the first thing.
- 17:29So like, so I guess we weren't entirely thought n't changed. I have
- 17:33fun cleaning it. I do wish they had like a little bit more like
- 17:37organization and some pomp and circumstance behind it, like like it was fun,
- 17:42Like put a leaderboard up on the website so like people could see that and
- 17:47like recognize the people that are doing it. They would be a fun thing
- 17:51to have something like we used to remember we used to have a leaderboard of
- 17:56like stuff and things coral. You know, you could scan a code and
- 18:02see that where you lead, where you are on unchained duels. Yeah,
- 18:07but I think they needed to play it all up a lot more than they
- 18:11did. I think the event had finished, you like I had to go
- 18:17ask prising for a second. You had to go ask it first. There
- 18:21was no announcement that we got for a second third, like like they did
- 18:23that for KFC with Y. They announced that after we left, because we
- 18:27left at seven forty five for dinner. The event ended at eight, so
- 18:32we just left just before they announced it. But I also think that they're
- 18:37like, it's just those guys, so who cares? Right like there,
- 18:41You know, if it would have been other people, I think they would
- 18:44have pretended like it mattered more. But they just don't. What are you
- 18:48saying there's some sort of weird conspiracy with GG against AC No. I think
- 18:56it's the team's asking and this this situation. I really guess that either I
- 19:00just don't think they had like a plan for that for this of it,
- 19:06like, I think they need to do a lot better with these little side
- 19:10events. You definitely want a lot more for winning the one at Celebration,
- 19:15Yeah, I want a ton of stuff like that was really cool and like
- 19:18it was also all three days people were doing those games, Like kept play
- 19:22a lot more games too, that's true too, Yeah, like I had
- 19:26like twenty seven games or something. But I think that this is where I
- 19:33don't know if Wookie you put up Colby's kind of rant or discs that you
- 19:37can find Colby's discussion with big z over at our patron. Yeah, and
- 19:45so that came about, well, it was nice scene Colby from Bouncy Death
- 19:49quirk back and kind of but we had talked about marketing. GG has to
- 19:55do a better job with marketing and being able to show that pump and circumstance
- 19:59to show that these events are worthwhile to attend well. And then like that's
- 20:03where, like our boy Jeremy needs to step up. I guess like we've
- 20:07we've got another person from Josh is here for for O P. He's gonna
- 20:11do that, like you've still we've been there for three weeks. Give a
- 20:17shit. I'm tired of giving me make it. Okay, job that I
- 20:22get paid to do. Ownership is immediate. That's what I was told,
- 20:27right, Like, Okay, I really don't think that's fair in this situation.
- 20:33But if it was, where like double elimination has to go away and
- 20:41oh please anything stop like started with a chain though, but like but again,
- 20:48like if this was your third week on the job, she would you
- 20:52think you would have done better presentation wise? Is everything that happened on Thursday?
- 20:59Well, yes, of course, but why would have make exications myself
- 21:03list that is paid to do it? Again, I think gen Con was
- 21:08way too quick for them to change on a dime. So all the changes
- 21:14are coming fourth I believe will be for the next Wait, so they didn't
- 21:18know the last eight months that gin Coon was coming. Is that that's what
- 21:21we're going with surprise. I'm saying that they didn't care about the KFC feedback,
- 21:26and once Philly happened, then you know it was a bit more vocal.
- 21:32Oh you're talking about the double limits. I'm not. I'm talking about
- 21:34that. I'm just looking as far as the unchained as an event, Like
- 21:37like when I was saying before Philly, when I was saying before gin con
- 21:41like, My big wish is that the other things outside of the main event
- 21:48are is done better because it is expensive to go to these things. If
- 21:52you are the one that craps out goes oh two or one two or whatever,
- 21:57if you don't make day two, or if you don't spend your whole
- 22:02day going through the loser's bracket, like you will have basically played very little
- 22:07meaningful key Forward. So all of these other little things, as far as
- 22:11like a cost to consumer are actually that little of a thing. Like they
- 22:17they need to be tangibly better than what we're seeing every single time they're executed.
- 22:23Again, I keep reference to key Forwards Live, but like we had
- 22:29no professional experience yet one hundred and twenty five people were actively playing key Forge
- 22:34for some kind of meaningful prize the entire three days that they were there.
- 22:41We got constant feedback about that. Lots of money. Yeah, and that's
- 22:45the biggest cutting into our bottom line. Was already hitting them to the point
- 22:52where the stuff that I'm saying, the people are already there. They're literally
- 22:56sitting around doing nothing. Look, that was the big thing I was saying,
- 23:00is that you know, again, for seventy five dollars. Let's just
- 23:04say, worst case scenario, you go to then what yeah, I mean,
- 23:08what what do you do it there's no prize wall there to spend on
- 23:15or anything like that. If there was, that's only another ten minutes of
- 23:18your time and that Yeah, but that's still that's that's something something to get
- 23:25to win stuff from. A prize ball is more than ten minutes, Like,
- 23:26that's what I'm talking about, the prize wall to spend shards on.
- 23:33But you know, even then, even if it's ten minutes, it's something
- 23:37to look forward to. You can look back at your time at SEID events
- 23:41and be like, yeah, I got We're happening again. So you can
- 23:44just quit bringing that one up. What to prize ball is gone? Hopefully
- 23:49they do start. I really hope it's not gone, because every other major
- 23:53TWOCG doesn't. Yeah, every other one, Fab does it, Magic doesn't,
- 23:59Pokemon does it. You get every other a long time, most of
- 24:02those games did not do it. I think it kind of started it and
- 24:07then it kind of rolled into everything else. So for a long time,
- 24:11you're correct, But for a long time nobody had a prize well because it
- 24:15just it wasn't a thing. Until Magic started doing it and then everyone's like,
- 24:19oh well, this game has it, so everyone else started doing it.
- 24:22But getting exclusive stuff from a major event is kind of a big deal.
- 24:26And that's what I want to second is eventually it should be under Now,
- 24:34how is Nationals not a major event? Because Nationals can Nationals is intended
- 24:41to not be run by Is Nationals considered a GG premiere event? Do they
- 24:48consider that a premiere event according to the their scale, Yes, but it's
- 24:55airports. I don't know. It is a major event. It's meant to
- 24:59be major. Believe they did say that as that from the from the very
- 25:06beginning, Gig said Nationals was definitely gonna be run by them. That's in
- 25:10the in Peterson's presentation. So the thing that I would say is we receive
- 25:15more feedback about trying to engage every member that shows up, whether that is
- 25:21sixty some, whether it is sent into, whether it's capped or not.
- 25:25We want to have engagement from every key Forge player who's there, and we
- 25:30want to have something that people are going to walk away with. While it
- 25:33was great that where we ended up finishing and we did get something, there
- 25:38were a lot of people who didn't and those little trinkets are something to look
- 25:42back at and remember your gen Con experience. Go oh yeah, this reminds
- 25:47me that gen Con or key Forge or the Vault Tour, whatever it is,
- 25:52was an enjoyable experience, and I want to do that again. And
- 25:55there is a considerable amount of money that is dropped at your vault tours,
- 25:59or in this case is extremely expensive, say instead of instead of people like
- 26:06me who get to go, oh, I just dropped a grand and all
- 26:08I got with a shitty T shirt. You know. Well, now it's
- 26:12a big thank you again to Marcus. He brought patches for Nationalist. So
- 26:18like, yes, the I did win a few little prizes, but really
- 26:22the only thing I brought home that I care about at all is my patch.
- 26:27Yeah, I mean, but that's still something, right, Like,
- 26:30that's something you look forward to, that was something you used to be able
- 26:33to spend a few shireds on the prize wall on and get a pin or
- 26:37a patch or whatever the you know, a play mat, a T shirt.
- 26:41I agree they need to do more. I just don't necessarily agree that
- 26:45the prize wall is the way to go. I'm like saying, like one
- 26:51thing or another about it all needs to be there. She like, like
- 26:55there needs to be all the things that not only like we did alive or
- 27:00ff T did before, Like most of that stuff is what people enjoyed about
- 27:04vaults. Like the reason that what my son and wife came along with me
- 27:10so much was how engaging and amazing the vault experience is one like they've quit
- 27:17now, but like I'm never going to get them to go back to another
- 27:19one of these because like they've heard my feedback, they know I enjoyed playing
- 27:23the game, and they know that you and me are stupid, and we're
- 27:26gonna keep going to these things, regardless of how badly we're treated. We're
- 27:30just gonna be there. Yeah, So like other people will not keep coming,
- 27:34Like I've I've met people at Philly that said they're not coming back to
- 27:37these anymore, and guess what, they weren't here even though they had tickets.
- 27:41Definitely, people after jen Con said I ain't come into another one of
- 27:45these. Yeah, I ran into three unique people that were not associated with
- 27:49one another that said they again, they are not going to a vault until
- 27:55a lot of the stuff changes. And as much as horrible as double elimination
- 27:59is like, that's the main catalyst that needs to be fixed. It's all
- 28:02of the little things too. Well, again, it's a thousand dollars roughly
- 28:06to go to these things. If you add up hotels, food, travel,
- 28:11event fees, it's like there are ways to get the price down from
- 28:15a thousand, But if you pay full price and don't do any like cost
- 28:18cutting stuff, it's basically a grand Like that is not a trivial amount for
- 28:22basically anybody play in this game, right, so the whole experience needs to
- 28:27get drastically better. And yes, well, and but they have to get
- 28:30rid of doubling. That's point one. But point two is you got to
- 28:33tell people about it, Like I think the biggest revealing thing from Colby's point
- 28:38of view. And again we haven't heard hypen our hair of bouncing death cork
- 28:45for some time. But you know, well that's great, you know,
- 28:49like, if that's what they want to do, go jam man. But
- 28:52I mean, if that's like their jam and like, but if you're like,
- 28:56hey, i'd really like to go play some key forage, how do
- 28:59you know about it? From just from the art from the ten minute interview
- 29:04you did with him, just talking to him, He barely knew this was
- 29:07going on. Yeah, he actually happened to be in the Colts Stadium for
- 29:15another game for gen Con. It was an airship battle game and he happened
- 29:18to see it and recognized KeyForge, so came over and was immediate. I
- 29:22mean this is someone who was very well invested in KeyForge before. It's like,
- 29:26yeah, I capped up with it. Hey do you guys have a
- 29:29dack around this? He played in Alliance then the next day because you're able
- 29:33to sign him up, but was really really really really disappointed in the marketing
- 29:37and the way to be able to actually stream games. I mean he's like,
- 29:41hey, I have Pokemont, I'm going a hide and going through that.
- 29:45That's his new gig. But we have to get word out to others
- 29:48that games are happening, especially top level, high level games. There's no
- 29:52reason that they're not being streamed or shown or letting people know the well.
- 29:56And now we know because like we haven't started talking about out the day whatever
- 30:02they want to bark on yet. But like there was no stream for anything,
- 30:06and there was no plan stream so like by design, like when ffg
- 30:11ran their first income, like that was the only Yeah, that is the
- 30:17only vault that I can recall that they as a company put on themselves exclusively.
- 30:22They hired their own everything, Like they had their whole crew there there
- 30:26had their they had their event. Yeah, but like they had their staff
- 30:32there, like all of the FFG people were there. They had streamers paid
- 30:37for it. They streamers did a pretty good job. They even set up
- 30:40a streamer in booth right there on the event floor. Well but if you
- 30:45was a good production, yeah see, I don't know if you remember,
- 30:47but actually getting a line for that stream caused quite a bit of issue.
- 30:52There was an extra cost that was there, and I think this comes down
- 30:55to the location where we ended up playing. I'm glad GG got us in,
- 31:00but it was definitely late and you can see it was separate from other
- 31:03areas in the main exhibit hall. So planning things ahead does need to happen
- 31:11if we're going to be successful, and that's why it was capped. We
- 31:14know that, we know that at this point it was capped because they came
- 31:18in too late. So oh, why like they do they were going to
- 31:22gincun in November of twenty two. How is it late because somebody didn't send
- 31:29in for paperwork and then I'll make sure in order to get it low like
- 31:33taken care of well. And also typically when you sign up for gen Con,
- 31:36you're a year out. You're signing up for twenty twenty four. Now,
- 31:42Like, it's not all no, because we saw the dropt that happened
- 31:48with board Crunch announcing they were going to run the staff and then announcing well
- 31:53ald up, allD up. Hold up, he never announced he was gonna
- 31:56run it. He just had a page on his website. That's all that
- 31:59happened, an official announcement. Don't put that on Arthur. H Okay,
- 32:05you're right. He never officially announced it, but clearly he was planning to
- 32:08have more to do with it. He had the Bolt Warrior branding stuff going
- 32:15on and stuff for a while, and that all kind of fizzled away again
- 32:19too, So clearly they were trying something different and that didn't end up happening,
- 32:28and then they went into scramble mode, which is why we heard about
- 32:30gen Con super duper late, and you could they were waiting to find out
- 32:36if they were an able to do anything because they were too late to its
- 32:37primary. Yeah, but the problem is is you announced it in November you
- 32:44would be at gen Con. You didn't announce it, so I mean by
- 32:49November you had to have somewhat kind of idea and all. And they also
- 32:52and they were at the previous year's gen Con Wookie. They announced the November
- 32:55that we're going to have OP running with Story Water. I should't assume,
- 33:00don't assume anything when it comes from the top level, you know, the
- 33:05CEO of the organization. I shouldn't assume that whatever they say is law.
- 33:08What does that guy know he runs the company? Not a big deal gen
- 33:14Con, Like everything else right else feels like it's tossed together last minute.
- 33:19We at least have something that's good enough. I don't know when we see
- 33:24them switch from throw stuff together good enough to be the next level of being
- 33:34really what they're envisioning. How do we buy their OP program? Is that
- 33:37is that a possibility? Like, Hey guys, we want to buy this
- 33:43branch of your company. You can just print the decks, do all the
- 33:45dev design. We want to own this portion of the game. Yeah,
- 33:51and we want to own When you're saying that, zeal, let's be very
- 33:53clear too, because we have a different vision of how to be able to
- 33:57run it so that it's enjoyable for people. Yeah, that's that's the reason.
- 34:00That's the reason, correct, that's your reason for wanting it. Not
- 34:04to do anything more than that, because we have a great community, but
- 34:07we're we're losing people. And I will say the event hall did have people
- 34:13coming and learning about key Forge consistently. Awesome. Yeah, there was both
- 34:21what were they getting out whatever? There was a lot of games and demos
- 34:27done that was good for our game. There was a lot of positive buzz
- 34:31at the demo booth. I don't remember what the numbers what they said,
- 34:34but they said a certain amount of hours, certain amount of games. There
- 34:37were a ton of demo games done for key forgeures. Yeah, so I
- 34:44actually think there was a very good on that side of the game, like
- 34:49like ambassadorship of our game in conjunction with them. Arthur did a good job
- 34:53of promoting key Forge doing his Sealed re Sealed thing. He had a ton
- 34:59of those game games fire. That's actually a really really good way of game.
- 35:06Here's my question, sheep, I believe you were doing some judging for
- 35:08mister Arthur. Correct. I did go and help out for a bit because
- 35:13he was a shorter person. How many people did Arthur have doing this resealed
- 35:17thing? There was like in the two that I've seen ran, I think
- 35:21it was fourteen and twelve players. Most of most players I had not seen.
- 35:30We're not on the floor, we're not in either of the major events.
- 35:35Well, but also remember that Arthur got his events in before GG and
- 35:39we could see that when we went and had the book the booklet listing from
- 35:44gen Con. That is a very important piece is again Arthur was organized.
- 35:47He had top notch mats. Again that we're able to be there, and
- 35:51I love seeing people play sealed in in a casual environment. You're gonna get
- 35:54a lot of people coming out for that, So I give him credit.
- 35:59I mean, if you're saying fourteen and twelve sheep, that's twenty six people.
- 36:01That's that's awesome, that's what we want to see. And you were
- 36:05there for one short little period of time. That's that's half an Alliance field.
- 36:07Amazing. And he posted somewhere some of the more he fired a ton
- 36:12of events. A lot of people played key Forge under those resealed events,
- 36:16and that's a really good way to get people like happy and excited with this
- 36:20game. It's almost like sealed cells weird, because it's almost like this game
- 36:25is good at that weird. So let's get on to gin. So we
- 36:35had Arkon Arkon fired on Friday with an astonishing round one of four people,
- 36:42and well, well let's start because we didn't Yeah, we did make some
- 36:46predictions, so how many total people we're doing? Okay, we're going to
- 36:52predictions next week because when we got predictions for Minnesota that was so I was
- 36:59so excited that. Okay, but yes, in order to get down to
- 37:02your suits numbers sixty four in this case, well, it's important to note
- 37:07that they did sell out, so seventy two tickets were sold for our cod
- 37:14like that is important before you get this number. And then showed up.
- 37:19Sixty two showed up, but then there were two people that showed I'm sorry,
- 37:22sixty four showed up, but there were two people that they were there
- 37:25trying to like buy in in case there were extra, in case there were
- 37:30people didn't show up. So we had sixty four of the seventy two.
- 37:32So eight people just didn't show up even they had a ticket. I personally
- 37:37knew of three they were like not coming because of double elimination bullshit. So
- 37:44I that's three of the eight. I don't know about the other five.
- 37:46But anyway, so the two people were able to buy a ticket there because
- 37:52there were there were slots left, which pushed us to sixty six. And
- 37:55then JR. Was gonna say the the next part, which is really funny.
- 38:00Yeah, So for our first round, and this is why we talk,
- 38:04I actually had to buy and Sheep, what did you do your first
- 38:08round? Nothing? Because you had to buy? And Zee what did you
- 38:14do your first round? Oh? I totally had to buy. You had
- 38:15to buy, and draft or was not here. We can also ask a
- 38:19draft coar what did you do? He had to buy as well. In
- 38:22fact, out of our sixty eight individuals who were there, sorry sixty six,
- 38:28there were two games that fired for a total of four people. So
- 38:32four people four And it was pretty funny because there were a couple of people
- 38:37that actually stopped by and go, oh and what's this? This is the
- 38:39finals and it wasn't. It was literally round number one when we had four
- 38:44people that were playing while everyone else was like totaled around them, like staring
- 38:50these four boards loles. Well, what else are you supposed to do?
- 38:53You guys? Those guys are at Lucas Oil Stadium, like to walk back
- 38:57to get to the floor. Yeah, you're probably gonna make it. What
- 39:01make it there just in time to maybe probably turn around. So yeah,
- 39:07I mean there was there was food outside of between Lucas and the Exhibit Hall.
- 39:10You could have maybe done that, but it wasn't worth your time.
- 39:15We did wait, but again, key Forge, we want to play KeyForge.
- 39:19We want to play KeyForge, so let us play KeyForge. Don't have
- 39:22these It's just it's absolutely silly that everyone is sitting and waiting when you could
- 39:30go ahead and have the breakdown that z has talked about numerous times with your
- 39:35survival our Cohn there and so it's what nine to sixteen people that would have
- 39:40to have one playing game at the end, versus having how many individuals just
- 39:45sitting here wait with so many buys because it's not just around one, it's
- 39:50all everything in the loser's back that the nightmare we've gone through. That's a
- 39:52bunch. That's not the purpose of our castiday. But yes, four people,
- 39:57four of the unluckiest sixty six possible people had to play in that round.
- 40:02And if you were the two people that lost I don't know what they
- 40:06did after that, but they should have just left and gone. And I
- 40:09don't know who played Lorcanna who who who? They all knows like what they're
- 40:13supposed to do. Nothing, There would have been nothing key for it's related
- 40:17for those two people to do for a really long time. Well, and
- 40:23you you talk about that, I actually should have paid better attention because I
- 40:27started talking with our community members and just singing out and I ended up facing
- 40:31Stormstrong, who was one of the four people who had to play. He
- 40:35did win, but I ended up facing him and what was my first round
- 40:38his second round. So I know that one of the big things that has
- 40:45come up why double elimination is there is collusion for your team and scouting.
- 40:50Goodness, if that one collusion can happen at any points, let's be very
- 40:55honest about that in this answer, I don't know where it came from.
- 41:00I heard that for the first time at gen Con. I guess a couple
- 41:02you all had gone up and talked to Christian Peterson like there that's literally a
- 41:07wash, it does. This was not from CTP. I will say that
- 41:09it was not from CTP. Well, but someone It just started being a
- 41:13thing people were talking about while we're at gen Con, and like, yes,
- 41:16I'm aware, I'm on one of the largest teams and the most competitive
- 41:20teams. But like, as far as the like, we have a lot
- 41:22of internal policies and producers in our team to make sure that crap is not
- 41:28a biden buying our team. But still, like all of the things that
- 41:32can be done in double elimination and Swiss in any other format you think are
- 41:37they're not format or set immune, like, they can be done in all
- 41:42of them. There's no stopping those things. Like the only thing you can
- 41:47do to prevent a lot of that is more active, better monitoring judges,
- 41:52people that are actively listening to what conversations are going on and just monitoring behaviors
- 42:00that they're pretty much awash across the board. So like if like that is
- 42:06just a bullshit answer as far as all that goes, because it exists in
- 42:10all both the formats that are being presented to them as options, whether it
- 42:14is double elimination or Swiss with double elimination removal after two losses, the teeming
- 42:21aspect is still a thing that has to be paid attention to buy the judging
- 42:24staff, does it honestly matter anymore now that an archon card is available at
- 42:30any given time during the game. That is actually a big part of it.
- 42:35I think they're talking about collusion in the aspect of like when people are
- 42:40paired up, one person is conceding to the other. But what I don't
- 42:44think that they're considering is like that's the part that can affect Swiss but in
- 42:49a double elimination of like environment where if someone is smart enough they could actually
- 42:54figure out the brackets, you could actually tell which member your team is feeding
- 42:59in. If you were going to talk about like dumping game for matchup.
- 43:02Shit, again, our team is never going to do that. But that's
- 43:07the thing, Like, yes, you remove the Swiss side of that,
- 43:10but then that's just doubled down on the ability to me to feel at the
- 43:14brackets on the other side of things. So like the whole answer of that
- 43:17being a thing is completely bogus. If teams want to manipulate the Swiss system
- 43:23or the bracket system, they can. We have a great key Forge community.
- 43:29I don't see this. I know what they're trying to prevent, but
- 43:31the end result is then send your judges out, listen, keep open ears
- 43:37watch for people look for things. If you really need to a Swiss,
- 43:39go ahead and just block out that middle section and you make the cut when
- 43:43it is appropriate in the nine to sixteen for that plan. That's thanks about
- 43:47an example of like what some team bullcraft could have looked like when we get
- 43:52to the Alliance day, and I will say what I did. I was
- 43:55very publicable what I was going to do, and I talked to the judges
- 43:59about So yeah, anyway, ark on Wise, Like as far as how
- 44:05I did enjoy my day on ark on Wise, I had made it too.
- 44:08I had a buye, I won one one, and then I was
- 44:14in the playing round at the top eight, and then Zander Ford a win
- 44:20comes in on Donovan, which one of my teammates sold him like a couple
- 44:25of months ago. This is why x ray sucks. X ray sucks big
- 44:30time for this. So there's this deck like which I beat dan On twice
- 44:35in the top four event, and then this guy's like every time he sees
- 44:38a creature, he discards it. He steals a billion from me because his
- 44:42routine jobs came out perfectly. Wasn't able to furnish them in the right order,
- 44:45Like absolutely crush me. I didn't even key knocks me down into the
- 44:52loser's bracket, which I waited four hours before. I paired up to my
- 44:57opponents, who happened to be set of Mark, who won key for his
- 45:00live. I had an absolutely great game against Seth. It was fantastically played
- 45:06by him. He played to his outs knowing that's what he was doing.
- 45:10I saved up a bunch of untamed I played a way to greet with a
- 45:15bunch of untamed creatures while I was being forced to soary in with Mark of
- 45:17this and I was able to edge him out on top for the final key,
- 45:23and then I made my top eight. And then we immediately invited Xander
- 45:30for to win to team's ass so that we at least it didn't feel as
- 45:34bad getting my ass kicked by Donovan. So we really just re rerecruited Donovan
- 45:39more than Xander Woo because he's in the audience just getting anyways, one thing
- 45:52we didn't talk about real quick what happened to place now? Oh, at
- 45:57the very beginning of we actually started our late just snapped it in half and
- 46:02just busted. I think they might know more about it than me. All
- 46:07I know is though at some point we couldn't report our wins in play style
- 46:12anymore, and all the pairings had to walk up to the judge like we
- 46:15used to and report together. So the shot the event. For my understanding
- 46:22of what went down to play Style, it was issues of internet connectivity and
- 46:27gen con because they didn't have it carline and we know this, so there
- 46:30was wait time after round one called TACH issues, and then after round two
- 46:36is when we had to report to HQ because they couldn't go ahead. People
- 46:39were reporting and it wasn't cycling fast enough and if you basically hit it again,
- 46:45it was causing the system to have issues, and so that's where they
- 46:51were. That's where there was some concerns. So they just had us report
- 46:53after round two, which again round one was four players. Round two was
- 46:58the first round with everyone. So pay for that internet. Don't steal your
- 47:04internet from McDonald's was the story. Have a hard line man, have a
- 47:07hard line something with a very nice ethernet cable renting for McDonald's. No,
- 47:13I don't know, I don't. I don't know about you. I've never
- 47:16seen it Ethernet port at McDonald's. But I guess maybe I'm not looking hard
- 47:20enough. So you're telling me you've never seen like a router set up behind
- 47:24the counter. You know, No, I don't know. How did you
- 47:29do it? Our gun? Fraud did what fraud supposed to do. He
- 47:34nine and zero on day one in these majorish events. I won four games.
- 47:38I got to play aw Mountain, who's a regular round here, and
- 47:43then I got to play what I played first. Then I played Sithe of
- 47:49egg Mar. Then I played Aviator or those two. I got to play
- 47:52Sith and Aviator and they're on they're on similar kind of decks in there,
- 48:00and then grossness with marks of diss that I had to sit there and play
- 48:05around. Idn't realize too, that's very unfortunate. Yeah, it is what
- 48:14it is. And then I got to play Ben the Monkey, who has
- 48:19traveled with us to many events in the past. That was also a good
- 48:24game, but Fraud seemed pretty well set to deal with that one. So
- 48:31I mean I won four games. It was good, So I made it.
- 48:38I made it. I made it farther. Round one was the buy
- 48:43where we're all waiting. Round two I played storm Strong and I took the
- 48:46win. Round three, I took a loss, so that that one hurts.
- 48:52It was a triple bone niffing red penny, triple loss in the woods
- 48:57really well to deck for woe and for my creature Spam. I made a
- 49:04choice, and I believe that was the difference. So this was Jonathan from
- 49:07a team Dayton, and I made a choice not to purge one of the
- 49:13bows but to take an amber pip instead, and in the final turn he
- 49:19played all three bonit things and the red penny to steal seven and to drop
- 49:23it. Basically I was up on keys, but that was the difference.
- 49:29Then we were kind of fighting for key three and just was it was not
- 49:35in my cards. We had lunch break and a bye. I played our
- 49:38two fan on World's Collide and took a win. I played Matney and I
- 49:46was able to go ahead and take him down. Then zero dins and sires,
- 49:51which was another win, and I faced Aviator with my memorable game and
- 49:55Aviator Man two Mark of dis and in Furnace and Screaming Cave, and the
- 50:02highlight from that game was I was Mark six different times, four times in
- 50:07a row, and the third time in disc was the key. I made
- 50:10a choice. I pulled both of my in furnace at that time, and
- 50:14I played one of them when he was hitting me with the Mark while in
- 50:19dis I did have three disc creatures out, so that was nice get at
- 50:23least get a reap. But I made the choice to hold my second in
- 50:28furnace and he chose not to screaming caves, so we played Shutow of diss
- 50:31and Mark of dis or both of those two were in the discard pile,
- 50:38and because he did not screaming cave, I was able to come back and
- 50:44that was the difference. So it was it was a very fun game.
- 50:47We talked about it and then at the end I faced JM twelve four nine
- 50:54three. That's Jacob from Drascors local Philly scene, and he was on Whoa
- 51:00and woe was set to take me out in turn nine and it was three
- 51:05keys after time, so that one went to time on WHOA. But I
- 51:08was able to make my first top eight. Boys and girls, well deserved
- 51:14they are you been playing awesome? Got there? Good stuff, good stuff
- 51:21indeed. But Dad finishes out ar Con day one, little different from normally
- 51:28they went from ark on day one two just Alliance day one. I don't
- 51:32know if this affected numbers or not. It might have because so we know
- 51:37they sold like sixty tickets, but only thirty six showed up. Yeah,
- 51:43I just I guess the way and I didn't fully. I know we read
- 51:46it here on a show, but for whatever reason in my head, it
- 51:51was stuck that it was going to be you would have your Day one,
- 51:54you know, your Day two is wouldn't be on the final day. It
- 51:58would be your Day two is would be in the morning, and then you'd
- 52:00start Alliance in the evening. But that's not how it went down. No,
- 52:06No, it was always intended to be on Saturday. I will say
- 52:08I had thirty nine for Alliance. Is what was talking to the teaching that
- 52:14today I understand, but that's that's I'm just saying that's what showed up.
- 52:19Okay, Yeah, but I will say I know that at least shape Nova
- 52:24myself all made the choice too. We had signed up for Alliance and I
- 52:30didn't want to play, but making top eight, I couldn't play in both.
- 52:34Yeah, like all of the eight people that had signed up for our
- 52:38coon also had a ticket for Alliance, and only one of them chose to
- 52:45play an Alliance on day two, and that being up. That was me,
- 52:47so I would have play. I only kind of played Alliance like,
- 52:52I actually had a lot of fun on day two. I really did enjoy
- 52:57the experience because like I enjoyed playing high level for it, I felt like
- 53:00I did play challenging games, so I enjoyed that aspect of playing in the
- 53:07Alliance. I did register my ARC on deck, so I didn't actually have
- 53:14to make an Alliance deck. So that was cool. You built a pre
- 53:19built Alliance. Yeah, it's like, I don't know why they spent so
- 53:22much time. Algorithms make these things for us, but like on Alliance day,
- 53:30I got the buy Well I no, no, I didn't. I
- 53:31actually played round one, so there were you said thirty nine. Yeah,
- 53:37because there was thirty nine, it had to cut to thirty two for the
- 53:42actual winner's bracket round one, which means there were seven games, so fourteen
- 53:46people out of the thirty nine played round one. I was one of the
- 53:51fourteen. I did play my first match and I won it. I won
- 53:55actually my first three matches, and because the starting was thirty two, if
- 54:00I had won, so you only needed to get to round four instead of
- 54:04the normal round five to actually make top cut. So I made it to
- 54:07the play in round in round four, if I had won that game,
- 54:14I would have actually made it two top eight for Alliance with my ark on
- 54:17deck. But Brad he came out and crushed me, had triple battle fleet
- 54:22and Epsi key oblectution. That was just so done. There's absolutely nothing I
- 54:25could have done to stop that. That so that actually shoved me down to
- 54:30the loser's bracket, exactly like day one where I waited for four hours before
- 54:37my next match, which was against Jason who had absolutely crush me. Now,
- 54:44going into that day, I had no intention of eliminating someone for Alliance
- 54:50because I was never going to play in Alliance because I was already in top
- 54:54eight for ARCon. So after and I actually be Brad, I don't know,
- 55:00actually know what I would have done, because I wouldn't I didn't dectically
- 55:02eliminate him, but I guess I would have won that game and made it.
- 55:07So that was kind of awkward. I was never expected to be in
- 55:08that round, But between me losing to Brad and my four hour weights,
- 55:15I went and talked to the judges and said, like, no matter what,
- 55:19my attention was, to concede because I didn't want to eliminate someone that
- 55:22was still live in an event that I couldn't play in, but I didn't
- 55:25want to play the game to see if I could win. I got absolutely
- 55:30crush that game. So it ended up not mattering like I I don't.
- 55:34I think I actually did forge the first key in the game, and then
- 55:36I did generate a single amber after that. So that was my experience,
- 55:43and like that's what I'm saying as far as like it there, if teams
- 55:47wanted to be manipulative about like placement and stuff, they could do it using
- 55:53like methods like that, like signing people up that don't want to play or
- 55:58whatever. Like I don't know, like I did it just to play the
- 56:00games. But I was very clear with the judges of what my expectations were.
- 56:06Hence I announced what I was going to do prior to even knowing what
- 56:08the parents possibly could be, because at that point we had no idea who
- 56:13was even going to make top at the top twelve playing round because that was
- 56:16the top twelve round. So but they were very very open to what I
- 56:22was saying. I just think that it was another missed opportunity to have people
- 56:29playing key forage, and I hope for all of our international listeners. I
- 56:31hope that when you schedule your nationals that you put them on two different weekends.
- 56:37We want people to be able to play, we want to have access
- 56:40to Worlds. To be honest, I want ahead and signed up for three
- 56:45events at gen Con. I signed up for our Coon Alliance and then the
- 56:49token Shenanigans on Sunday. Now, I was very very very happy to make
- 56:52top eight for our Coon, but it actually kept me from playing in the
- 56:57other two events. So I came to gen Con and I played in one
- 57:00event and that was it for the whole four days. So I just I
- 57:07want to put that out there that if you're running a national, set it
- 57:10up on two different weekends or two different separate periods so that people who make
- 57:15top eight have a chance to be able to play and have another opportunity to
- 57:20be able to get into Worlds. Yeah. I would have liked to.
- 57:24I mean I wasn't there, but this like things running in line with each
- 57:30other, like if you're going to run two events, like stop splitting your
- 57:36player base. I guess is my first kind of like point of contention because
- 57:40it's always like, well, you either have to play this or you have
- 57:43to play that, because the top eights are always running in conjunction with each
- 57:47other. And I mean, I guess for an event that you're only doing
- 57:52Friday Saturdays, even then you could probably still get that done Friday Saturday Sunday.
- 57:55Now could you get two full events stunzy Friday Saturday. Yeah, we
- 58:01didn't come last time in twenty nineteen. They say, even if you cut
- 58:07a day out because obviously, like let's say, because for most of balls,
- 58:09you're not going to have a Thursday. They did it in Philly.
- 58:14In Philly we started again. That was Friday Saturday Sunday. Yeah, it
- 58:21has to be Swiss without splitting the player base. Yes, I'm saying,
- 58:25yes, let me finished. They did it in Philly, but you have
- 58:30to run like a non stupid event structure, so maybe they can't. So
- 58:35if we go to a Swiss event structure, could they Yes, Yes,
- 58:39you start Friday playoffs Saturday morning. Next event starts Saturday playoffs Sunday morning.
- 58:45You're done exactly like they did in packs, exactly like we did it a
- 58:49lot. Yeah, so I mean, quit splitting your player base. I
- 58:53don't know why this is a thing they're like destined to do. But I
- 58:59mean you could you definitely, I think Alliance will be a lot more well
- 59:01received if it wasn't so like it's gonna be an either or you gotta pick
- 59:07one and everyone. Most people are gonna pick KeyForge the original way they learned
- 59:12it so, or they could just take it our conduct to you as well,
- 59:17could do that, sure, but like, I don't think it's much
- 59:22more people involved with Alliance right, like because because of the either or selection,
- 59:29I think most people are choosing Alliance over or I'm sorry, you're choosing
- 59:32an ark On over Alliance. I didn't actually have that problem. I actually
- 59:37am fine with the ark On Alliance being run concurrently and would go the other
- 59:42way against you, wokie. Like, I just think there should actually be
- 59:45a sealed event at the same time too, Like if if we want this
- 59:50idea of key Forge for everyone, just just lean into it further, because
- 59:55like there's people on like like I have a I'm on big team that we
- 1:00:00have three players that would pretty much only every play sealed. We have four
- 1:00:05or five players that would only play Alliance, and the rest of us would
- 1:00:07only play ARCon Like it's fine as long as everyone's play because like the overhead
- 1:00:15judging wise, the way they judge is into that much higher. So let
- 1:00:21us all have our three events and you will actually get a much higher total
- 1:00:24count for the whole field, because if we had Sealed, Alliance and Arkon,
- 1:00:30we would probably see one fifty to two hundred per ball because then there
- 1:00:35was actually something for everyone, assuming you get rid of double in the nation
- 1:00:39because a lot of the sealed players are not going to put up with that
- 1:00:42bullshit. But what Ki's point is, just like why limit it? Why
- 1:00:46have it as an either or when you can have multiple people buying into multiple
- 1:00:51events same person, you know what I mean, Like what you can't on
- 1:01:00I'm concurrently within being double elimination. They both take too long, right,
- 1:01:04that's I think we've already all figured that out. So maybe they changed the
- 1:01:07format, but right, if we want two hundred players, we need to
- 1:01:14just have Sealed as one of the three core events. And I don't think
- 1:01:16anybody ever had a problem when it was like and I mean, it's it's
- 1:01:20fine. So you do either you do our kind and Alliance or you do
- 1:01:22Sealed and along. Now, because if you look at the attendance our kind
- 1:01:28events were still lower than sealed, Like, just have all three three people
- 1:01:32pick what they want to play when they doesn't increase your overhead as a judging
- 1:01:37stuff that much by running one more concurrently when you're already running two concurrently,
- 1:01:43the leap is actually going from one to two. But if you're already doing
- 1:01:46it for two, it is not that much harder to do a third one.
- 1:01:51But what but what I'm saying is this allows so if if you had
- 1:01:54one hundred and twenty people at Philly, right, this allows all one twenty
- 1:02:00to participate and both events. But but you're you're missing the fact that I
- 1:02:07understand one and twenty people don't want to participate in both events. That's what
- 1:02:13we're saying. You like, it doesn't matter if they're both there. Most
- 1:02:16of the players there don't want to play Alliance. Okay, I mean I
- 1:02:22don't know players don't want to play Alliance, but I know I don't want
- 1:02:29to play Alliance. I will be given a deck and play it if I
- 1:02:31have nothing else to do, given the opportunity. Most players don't, let
- 1:02:37me put it this way, right this week or last weekend, you guys
- 1:02:39both played Alliance right cheap Ze Sheep, not because I was forced to an
- 1:02:46ABR and I didn't like it. Okay, yeah, yeah, but the
- 1:02:51point is right, I got a sub Southerly. It was. It was.
- 1:02:55It was an option for you guys to play Alliance, and Ze you
- 1:02:59chose to do it because you had the ability to. Although you're you've dropped
- 1:03:04out. Well you're talking about the ad R Alliance though, right, No,
- 1:03:08no, Jen Pan oh I no, she I was the only one
- 1:03:13that played. I took an our conduct to play in it. Okay,
- 1:03:16here's what I'm saying, and maybe maybe I'm not saying appropriate properly for you
- 1:03:21guys. So if if we can in a three day span run two events
- 1:03:25not congruently separate events where everybody that is there is able to participate, would
- 1:03:32you choose Let's say it's Sealed and then the second event is Alliance. Is
- 1:03:37it like, oh, I'm playing Sealed and going home or is it all
- 1:03:39I'm playing Sealed. Oh I have the opportunity to play Alliance, I'll play
- 1:03:43it. If there were two events one after another, Sealed and Alliance Sealed
- 1:03:50might get me to go Alliance. I would only play if I was given
- 1:03:53a dack, and the truth is is that would be first. Yeah,
- 1:04:00okay, let's just waste time, Like that's why would I do that.
- 1:04:03We're already there, That's all I'm saying. Like, if you if you
- 1:04:08put those two as the only things at the event, it would be the
- 1:04:11first one on my list of that's the one I would choose not to go
- 1:04:15to this year. So what's interesting is our AC Live show of chats.
- 1:04:21You know, there's multiple individuals I would love to play those Sealed in our
- 1:04:25con if I could so. Coming from Unfathomable, my gamer who again came
- 1:04:30second, Awesome Jack Corey, just bring back Sealed. We thrive with Sealed
- 1:04:35as well. This game really does well with it, and I think that
- 1:04:40is something that has to be looked at it. I hear the thought process
- 1:04:43that was talked about. In my opinion, adding Sealed in right now,
- 1:04:47as Z and Dan are talking about, isn't going to add that much overhead.
- 1:04:51But frankly, I agree with Bookie that I'd prefer to see separate events
- 1:04:56so that you could play in two or three if you chose. Well,
- 1:05:00I just think I don't think either of them is going to be happening,
- 1:05:01though my thing for the other time can happen still because it doesn't actually affect
- 1:05:06op itself. Like that Friday night, that Saturday night, that's Sunday,
- 1:05:12if you're not in the top cut, like that needs to be filled with
- 1:05:15other side events. Yes, all the other fun stuff, that's what I'm
- 1:05:20saying, should fill that slot so that that could be part of your experience
- 1:05:25like we had before, like really really bad needs to be filled in that
- 1:05:29slot we had. We had. We had all kinds of fun stuff back
- 1:05:31in the day. Like I know a lot of people don't like reversal,
- 1:05:34but for the people that were out there the like reversal, we had reversal
- 1:05:38events. We had a short adapt event. There's a team event every like
- 1:05:44we got. We pushed that so hard as a community. Every vault had
- 1:05:47that event on Sunday. The finals did their thing, and everyone else enjoyed
- 1:05:53the team event. Like there's things to do in this game that are engaging
- 1:06:00to the community. That's what needs to be happening Friday, That's what needs
- 1:06:02to be happening Saturday around, starting at two or three, when you have
- 1:06:08enough people not some like unmanaged, unrewarded second Amber crap that they just throw
- 1:06:15together and forget about, Like, what is that? Did anyone play a
- 1:06:18single second Amber game? At gen Con? I played a second Amber game
- 1:06:23on Alliance Day. I didn't even know they weren't happening. How you weren't
- 1:06:30in part of Alliance? How did you play a second Number game? Because
- 1:06:32exactly like it would anybody just so second Amber games would get played, and
- 1:06:39the second check an around, and somebody wanted a practice game, and that
- 1:06:45said, we can make a second Amber and I said whatever, I mean,
- 1:06:47like, I'm just here prepping you for your next game. This is
- 1:06:51fine, I know, and we get to claim the second Amber, but
- 1:06:55yes, it is totally Second Number is bipossibly the most frustrating thing ever.
- 1:07:02On paper, it sounds pretty good, but then when you actually run it,
- 1:07:05it is the dumbest event ever, like just conceived. Like I just
- 1:07:12don't see people wanting to continue to play the same decks after they just lost
- 1:07:15them, Like weaken with this. I don't want to go do something else.
- 1:07:18It's so unorganized. It's literally find a friend and play. I do
- 1:07:24that at my local. I don't want to be at a large scale tournament
- 1:07:29to find a friend and you get my point, find somebody who is also
- 1:07:32a loser to play. I don't want to do that. I can do
- 1:07:36that at my locals. I can suck there. I'm fine with that.
- 1:07:41But like just spirit both. I mean the KFC I was when I was
- 1:07:47out, I was like, oh, how does second number work? And
- 1:07:48they're like, just find someone? I'm like, just just find what is
- 1:07:51this? What is this the Pokemon League from nineteen ninety seven that I'm playing?
- 1:07:56And just find someone and play? Do I get badges at the end.
- 1:07:59There there's there's no rhyme, reason or purpose to second number. Like
- 1:08:03and this whole like ticket thing, it's you're not even rewarded for doing well,
- 1:08:09Like if you play you get a ticket for a raffle that you might
- 1:08:12win something and you might not. Like there's no purpose, there's no purpose
- 1:08:16to it. And the biggest, my biggest frustration with the Vault Tours.
- 1:08:20I still haven't gone to one this year, but like for my money,
- 1:08:24there's no reason for me to go. I'm not placing in a top eight
- 1:08:28right now in Alliance or in ARCon unless somebody's borrowing me a deck. So
- 1:08:33basically I just I can do the same thing. If I light my money
- 1:08:38on fire like i'm, the end result is the same. I'm having fun
- 1:08:42either way. That's why it's always been on my hopeless And as much as
- 1:08:45I like, I mean, I want to see you, I want to
- 1:08:48hang out with you, we've been too, but but I think it's spending
- 1:08:54a thousand dollars. Yeah, I agree, and that's why I'm I'm agreeing
- 1:08:58with you at this point. Like every time I say this before we go
- 1:09:01to evolves like I hope X y Z will be better. And as much
- 1:09:05as I hate double elimination, my wish for my hope has nothing to do
- 1:09:11with that. It's always the I want the Friday event to be something that's
- 1:09:15amazing. I want Second Amber and whatever those hell's happening halfway point of the
- 1:09:20main of it day to be engaging in fun. I want whatever it's happening
- 1:09:25Sunday to be something because like that is what makes the experience for the majority
- 1:09:30of the people, because the rest of them it's just this like double elimination.
- 1:09:35Hell, if you don't make top eight, that's all they got,
- 1:09:39that's all they remember. I want to be very concrete on this though.
- 1:09:44What we need is someone to take the reins like I did with our Kana
- 1:09:47and say, here's what is happening here. Registered No, but I'm telling
- 1:09:53you that's what needs to happen for Second Amber. It's just it's very impromptu.
- 1:09:58Number two, there has to be a board. When you were talking
- 1:10:01about Unchained and Dan, you and Z had no idea where people work.
- 1:10:05We need to see Second Amber, here's who's leading. Here is what the
- 1:10:10prizes are, and it's got to be more than a deck. I'm going
- 1:10:13to be very very honest playing Unchained for one deck like you got to make
- 1:10:16it worth people's time and put it out there. Here's where you are,
- 1:10:20and guess what have some random I'm gonna pull a ticket if that's what we're
- 1:10:25doing, and these people each get a deck, because then maybe it's something
- 1:10:29random that you get, and even playing one or two, I'm not in
- 1:10:32contention for the top prize. I'm still happy to continue to play, but
- 1:10:36it can't just be. It has to be some substantial amount. Here's six
- 1:10:42decks, here's a box. We can do this, but we need to
- 1:10:45make it public. We need to make sure people can see it's that has
- 1:10:50to be there. I don't just says just from our chat, what about
- 1:10:55playing for an invite to world I don't think like those of that should be
- 1:11:00invite to worlds. But just think if you had a monitor, right,
- 1:11:03and it doesn't necessarily maybe it doesn't even need to be a big monitor,
- 1:11:06but just a monitor where you can just go up and just check out other
- 1:11:11like, oh, he's got ten games, I gotta play two games,
- 1:11:15you know, or or you know, to surpass Z on a leaderboard.
- 1:11:18Okay, it's it's going to and if there is a prize attached at the
- 1:11:23end, I'm gonna be very motivated to beat Z on that leaderboard, especially
- 1:11:30especially if you have all this downtime right where you could be playing unchained battles
- 1:11:35or whatever sort of battles that they're like now pimping. Like if you have
- 1:11:41all that time, you have all the time in the world to like and
- 1:11:45that leaderboard could shuffle every day, you know what I mean, get something
- 1:11:49cool at the end. Do you guys remember from pass Fall Tour where you'd
- 1:11:54be able to play an FG employee with you know, cards that might be
- 1:11:58coming up from the future or something of that, or play correct or even
- 1:12:01go ahead and play against a personality from the community, like a you beat
- 1:12:06them, they don't. They only recognize two personalities from the community. I'm
- 1:12:11telling you put up one of those two personalities. But here they were giving
- 1:12:15away DT decks for for demoing do the same thing. You end up winning
- 1:12:18great, here you go end up losing. Here's a ticket to a drawing
- 1:12:24for another ticket later. But give things out. I don't know. I
- 1:12:29just make it worth time and tell people about it ahead of time. If
- 1:12:31we don't, if we don't tell anyone what's actually happening at Minnesota, we're
- 1:12:36not attracting anyone. It's it's paying out for the top two to be able
- 1:12:41to go to world top four in each of those monetarily. I don't know
- 1:12:45about you, guys, and maybe this is a statement that kind of may
- 1:12:49bother others, but I would rather see some of that money instead of it
- 1:12:54falling just in the top four, spread out to everyone, because that's the
- 1:12:57way we need to grow our community. Right now, I think that they
- 1:13:02for doing for doing well, there doesn't need to be a reward. However,
- 1:13:06here's what I'm gonna say on this one, like totally and completely,
- 1:13:10they need to figure out the deck situation here sooner rather than later. KFC
- 1:13:16Philly and now gen Con have all big Z has placed high and all of
- 1:13:25them. That's not saying there's nothing about Z's play skill. He's a very
- 1:13:29skilled player. However, that deck has seen it's fair share of mileage.
- 1:13:35Something needs to happen with decks that continuously are placing higher up, whether that's
- 1:13:41retired. Okay, right now, I disas you just named are about to
- 1:13:47be retired due to the field. Maybe you're right, maybe you're not,
- 1:13:54I'm right. Okay, Well, well time will tell, okay only,
- 1:13:59and that's the only thing that will tell. However, we're seeing a lot
- 1:14:03of the same decks in the field. Now, there are some decks that
- 1:14:06have lapsed, right, Ghasoline didn't do so hot this week? Right?
- 1:14:11Or this passed up? Put that down to a little bit of George,
- 1:14:15you know, has been playing a lot of Magic. He's not been super
- 1:14:17focused on Forge and he is not ready for the Woe meta. I think
- 1:14:23sure now, and yeah, that is a important decisions deck, correct,
- 1:14:30you know, but like some of these decks are going to surpass well,
- 1:14:33like they're still going to be good once Woe is more established is how many
- 1:14:41I think that I did. I did beat Second Act and practice here to
- 1:14:46one with fraud. But the first game he absolutely annihilated me. So in
- 1:14:51had I met him and that's the first game. There's just no answer.
- 1:14:57No, I mean it has potimes. So for that draw, I saw
- 1:15:00it, watch me. I mean whom I'm with z. I think in
- 1:15:05six months time there are it's seventy percent woe field probably if not higher.
- 1:15:15I mean, in six months time, you're going to this, this will
- 1:15:20be the meta. I am not guessing it's going to be. WHOA then
- 1:15:26the absolute best Worlds Clyde deck. You've ever seen, the absolute best code
- 1:15:30of deck. You've ever seen, the best AOA, the best in them
- 1:15:34and that has hurts you to say feel no, I don't, I'm gonnat
- 1:15:45because you know somebody has to go oh two or beat Draft Corp and go
- 1:15:47one two. I mean, I think it will literally gets appear in six
- 1:15:51months because Whoa, it's gonna be so damn good. The apologist can't even
- 1:15:59like like like come to themselves to not run below because it is fun to
- 1:16:02play. It's really good, and there's some actually relatively mediocre decks that are
- 1:16:08going to just go out and stomp old guard great decks. I've seen it
- 1:16:12happen. You did not. You did not say it. That vault Master
- 1:16:16set that everyone was losing their mind over and our international community irrelevant set.
- 1:16:21It's not even better than the other old sets to get there asking by woe.
- 1:16:26We're also going to get curb stopped by woe at a faster rate because
- 1:16:30there's not enough decks. It didn't make top it didn't make top eight at
- 1:16:34nationals. How many decks did you see that we're vault Masters cheap what's ulsters?
- 1:16:43Yeah, none of us did so. Again, we had said,
- 1:16:46this is not that big of a deal. It is a nice trinket to
- 1:16:49be able to walk home with. I like that it's something unique for attending
- 1:16:53the vote, but there are there are other trinkets it could have given away
- 1:16:56that didn't rile up the community. I'm just saying like they're big deal in
- 1:17:00people's heads because they can't have it. But remember people's people's perception is people's
- 1:17:09reality. In six months, none of us will go to another one of
- 1:17:14these Vault tours either, because it's still gonna be double elimination, not a
- 1:17:17court well, Drafts, Drafts put a little thing in our chat and he
- 1:17:21study he uh, what do you say? He lit up CTP. Several
- 1:17:28people did, and I heard rumors six to eight weeks they expect to have
- 1:17:31a solution. Yes, it's called that is after this Vault Tour season,
- 1:17:38because that's sixty eight weeks. Then we'll think about something. They don't want
- 1:17:42to say twenty twenty four, but sixty eight weeks essentially says the next Vault
- 1:17:45Tour season. Cinally, how long would it take you to program Swiss?
- 1:17:49Well, okay, see the issue is right, if they built this as
- 1:17:54a scalable code base with play style then different formats for running a tournament,
- 1:18:00it should just be like plugging and plugging play like different you know, different
- 1:18:05module code, it should take less than a day. But if they did
- 1:18:10not build this tool and develop in a scalable way, who knows, who
- 1:18:15knows how long it will take. Okay, so let's say that it wasn't
- 1:18:17built in a scene. Were given a fork of our previous software, right
- 1:18:28like that came with when they bought key for it. They got a copy
- 1:18:33of the code that all the old tournament software. They got a copy of
- 1:18:36Gem. They could just turn GEM back on. Is there a reason that
- 1:18:41we don't have it for our stores? Are we gonna need it for local
- 1:18:44play? That's what? What's local play? Yeah, there's no one.
- 1:18:49That's a whole can of words we don't have time to uncover right now.
- 1:18:54GG doesn't know stores play this game. Yeah, well, weird story.
- 1:18:58Neither do stores fun facts. Well that's because stores aren't going to because this
- 1:19:05yeh on the internet, right both. So we made it through our con
- 1:19:11Alliance day. I was the only one on the cast that played us.
- 1:19:15Our buddy Sydney did make top cuts. Jay Power may top cuts. However,
- 1:19:19we did do some streaming from what we could do. It's not the
- 1:19:25greatest of all time. But you know, and I apologize, I had
- 1:19:30games out they got games out there, right, which we are not streamers
- 1:19:35anywhere in the seas we are. We are streamers. I am. I'm
- 1:19:42not I'm not the tech person and I should not have been. I'm very
- 1:19:45competent streaming. But again I was not contacted, so well, you weren't
- 1:19:49there, and it was very last minutes, so so it was this was
- 1:19:56literally done in the matter of twenty minutes. I had to get you walk
- 1:20:00into the acutube account and that's and then it was set up and they went
- 1:20:05and I'll be honest, it was it was very much Colby pushing saying this
- 1:20:10is what we need for the game. Why are you not doing it?
- 1:20:12And I'm like, because I don't have enough space like here, And he
- 1:20:15took it and streamed his two Alliance games or Alliance or two and it's on
- 1:20:19his channel. It's like if nothing else from US Nationals, there will be
- 1:20:23something, so that there's the record and I'm like, oh man, that
- 1:20:27that really hurts Colby and a lot of what Colby said in that little interview.
- 1:20:32And it's free on patreons, so even if you're not a Patreon,
- 1:20:34you can go listen to it. I agree with them one hundred and ten
- 1:20:38percent. Like none of us do this podcast to like have followers, have
- 1:20:43subscribers, have people notice of have people recognize us. The only reason for
- 1:20:46this podcast is to number attempt to grow the game. Hold hold the powers
- 1:20:54that be a little bit accountable. I don't know if we do a good
- 1:20:57job at that. We do a lot of complaining, but I don't know
- 1:20:59if it does much. And you know, have a presence out there,
- 1:21:04Like it is so important to have a presence. This is why I push
- 1:21:08like every person that does any sort of content, go go watch it,
- 1:21:13go follow it, go like it, share it on your social Media's like
- 1:21:16every little bit that that is out there helps. Like to this day still
- 1:21:23the number one key Forage video is a is a video from the professor about
- 1:21:28key Forge that's from four years ago. The only people who are going to
- 1:21:35turn us around in the community, so and so it's it's it's up to
- 1:21:40it up to all of us too. I mean I do, I like
- 1:21:43it. I don't share as much as I should. But that being said,
- 1:21:48let's go into our con Top eight Zee, how'd you do? I
- 1:21:55paired up round one against Ben the Monkey, who had a deck that was
- 1:22:00actually really really tough for me. In all rights, he beat me this
- 1:22:05game, but officially I won the game. So third to the last round
- 1:22:12of the game. He has some amount of amber. I have two cards
- 1:22:17in my draw deck. I have two keys. I think I had like
- 1:22:23no amber at the time, and I the only way I can get him
- 1:22:29off is due to EP and it's in my discard pile. But I have
- 1:22:39some draw pips and I have left the logical so like I started my turn,
- 1:22:44I played Eclectic, got rid of the top of my two guards of
- 1:22:46my deck. I played I think sloppy lab arc which I draw to flip
- 1:22:53my deck to draw a card, discards a card archived guard. Thing goodness,
- 1:22:57it wasn't the cause of auto coulder. It wasn't EP. And then
- 1:23:00I played letho logica. I'm flipping one at a time, you know,
- 1:23:04because you get you get to see it. And I told him, like,
- 1:23:08I just need EP. It's my only shot to stay alive this round.
- 1:23:11And I didn't draw infomorph with the draw PIP, so I play info
- 1:23:17morph with the draw PIP. And then I drew the card face up and
- 1:23:19it was EP, so I played EP. I was able to do some
- 1:23:24stuff that turned to clear most of the board. He then goes to him
- 1:23:29to turn lays a bunch of warriors while I did that crazy turn to stay
- 1:23:32alive. I asked how much time was on the clock, and the judge
- 1:23:38goes a minute and a half. I was like, okay, Ben plays
- 1:23:42a bunch of warriors or something like he does. He does them sucking Brobnar
- 1:23:45crushes some member or makes a bunch of warriors. He does. He did
- 1:23:47that pretty much every turn of the game. Blow. Then it goes back
- 1:23:55to me. I know, I have like almost no time. I know
- 1:23:58letho logical. Plus my last tarn actually had gotten through a lot of my
- 1:24:00deck because my archive was huge, so I just called my whole hand was
- 1:24:05untamed. I called untamed, discarded five cards, archived five cards past turn,
- 1:24:13drew five shut out of chain. And then he goes to go back
- 1:24:16into broad nark because I've like no board, and he gains a whole bunch
- 1:24:19of amber again, yeah, passes back to me. Well, time has
- 1:24:27called on his turn and passes back to me. So it's like this is
- 1:24:31the new Ford step stuff. So like I can't just get more amber than
- 1:24:34him, because it didn't he would afford a key. I actually have to
- 1:24:39take him off key and have more amber than him. So this time left.
- 1:24:45The logic is in my discard, so is ep there's one card left
- 1:24:48of my draw pile because I'd gone through my deck that fast again because of
- 1:24:51the leather of the last turn. So I have my hand. I clugged
- 1:24:58my archive, which it was massive, and what I do I think I
- 1:25:02had to discard a card to archive the final card that my draw pile,
- 1:25:08and then looking in my hand, I just played through all the crap I
- 1:25:13had one draw pip left and Logos I play redacted because it has a draw
- 1:25:17PIP. And then I was like, I just handed Ben the discard pile.
- 1:25:20I could go ahead shuffle it, you know, the only card that
- 1:25:24can save me here. So he piles, shuffles it like one at a
- 1:25:28time, makes the stacks, and then like passes it back to me.
- 1:25:31It's like, so is this it? It's like I don't know. I
- 1:25:33flipped it face up. It was EP, so I played EP. He
- 1:25:38goes down to four and then I was able to play some cards. My
- 1:25:45demobot Paus was trying to kill it. I ended my turn with four and
- 1:25:48he had three. I won the game because I top decked into my shuffle
- 1:25:53EP two turns in the last three turns of the game. I was like
- 1:26:00super done. After that game. I gave him a hug. We're like
- 1:26:03that was crazy. I asked the judges if I go get get get a
- 1:26:06drink. I came back. I was still a little bit like my nerves
- 1:26:12were just done and definitely Corey on another Woe deck, this one I think
- 1:26:17had Grunt as the token. I actually think I matched up a lot better
- 1:26:23versus Corey's deck than the Warrior deck I based on Ben. But he like
- 1:26:27turned one came out fathom or either fathom or token token. The next turn
- 1:26:31it was like Dragnette Sherman, the same kind of thing. I was like.
- 1:26:35Oh, so I ended up fighting a little bit back to get a
- 1:26:40somewhat of a good position. There was one turn I was able to mark
- 1:26:45and actually swing a key pretty handily. There There's a ton of ambro on
- 1:26:48his dudes that turn. If I had Gateway that turn, I think I
- 1:26:51had actually had a chance to pull that one out. At the very end
- 1:26:56of that turn, I discarded a dark Minion to archive a card. That
- 1:27:02card was Gateway that I ended up archiving, So it was literally one card
- 1:27:06away from pulling what probably would have been to win that game. It still
- 1:27:13was really close, but I think that would have been enough to swing it
- 1:27:15entirely back to my side. But the top the his start was just way
- 1:27:21way too dominance. So I go out top four again for the second big
- 1:27:27event in a row. Is becoming increasingly more difficult to get to Worlds.
- 1:27:33So I'm not sure if I will make world but I'm going to keep trying.
- 1:27:39I had last though, Corey was a great competitor, so has been
- 1:27:43been probably deserved to be in that match more than me because he actually kind
- 1:27:47of kicked my ass, Like that was one of the worst losses I had,
- 1:27:51even though I technically won that game. We will, well, we'll
- 1:27:57put as much money as we can into the the cruise ship so you can
- 1:28:01go part to part to get that. Yeah, we can have a I
- 1:28:05mean, Mexico is not that far from me. I can host the Nationals
- 1:28:09in Mexico. No one else is invited. No, all right, she
- 1:28:23mine was I got to play Corey. Uh so this was a lot of
- 1:28:29fun. You're telling me, is Corey is ruining AC dreams? Is that
- 1:28:32what I'm well? So coming into day two, right, there was a
- 1:28:36lot of talk. They said they fixed the program so you shouldn't end up
- 1:28:41having to play the same player twice, right, so like i'd law or
- 1:28:48I'd beat Ben on you know, last round, and then he made his
- 1:28:56play in so they said I should not be paired against been in top eight
- 1:29:00in first round because I'd already played him in day one. And then also,
- 1:29:05you know four OS or XO should all be playing people who came in
- 1:29:11from the losers bracket. So I get there and we're just talking. You
- 1:29:15know, we kind of knew what decks were coming out of losers bracket.
- 1:29:18I should have either been playing z Nova or ewalk because the other loser,
- 1:29:25the other person coming out of losers bracket was Ben, who had already played,
- 1:29:28so I should have been playing a team stas member. And then they
- 1:29:31put decks down and I'm facing Corey and Corey and I are like, we
- 1:29:36shouldn't be playing each other right now. So we wave over a judge and
- 1:29:41we go, Judge, we're both undefeated, we shouldn't be playing each other,
- 1:29:45and he just goes, well, that's what we were given, so
- 1:29:47that's what's going on. And we go, well, we'll send some negative
- 1:29:50feedback afterwards, right, because what are you going to really do? Yeah,
- 1:29:56we know their parenting software works. However their parenting software is and there's
- 1:29:59no changing it. So I played my hand paired for day two. So
- 1:30:06why it was hand paired? They asked, Well, whatever, Jeremy actually
- 1:30:12asked me. I know, let me finish the story. So all right,
- 1:30:16we play. I played Corey. It is a long, grindy game
- 1:30:20with fraud. I could not get the c cards like the way the game
- 1:30:26played out, I had a five one shadows hand to start or six one
- 1:30:30shadows hand or something like that. Like I had a huge Shadows hand to
- 1:30:33start and one other card that was key Abduction, and I said, well,
- 1:30:41between battle fleets and moverse times, I'll get this key Abduction back around
- 1:30:45on cycle. So I just played my key Abduction and then I play all
- 1:30:48my Shadows cards and then I draw a couple of Mars cards and some Shadows
- 1:30:56cards, so I play more Shadows and then I have to play a bad
- 1:30:59Marster and I drew more shadows and all I could do was drush shadows this
- 1:31:02game. And then I get my reverse time, and now my deck is
- 1:31:05full of nothing but shadows. And you don't want that back when you haven't
- 1:31:09seen your battle fleets, right, You're like, nope, So you've having
- 1:31:12a discard reverse time because you're going through and the battle fleets ended up being
- 1:31:15at the bottom of deck. Corey made a pretty big mistake and let me
- 1:31:18take like thirteen to Amber on an ig play, but his deck can tact
- 1:31:25so hard, and I could not get any of my important creature control.
- 1:31:30And even going into the last my last turn of the game was battle fleet
- 1:31:36battle fleet on a deck flip. I'm drawing four cards on a fresh shuffle.
- 1:31:41So if I hit my first battle fleet, my key abduction or my
- 1:31:45key abduction, I just win the game right there. Probably, I guess
- 1:31:49there's no guarantee if I hit the battle fleet, but it would have been
- 1:31:53brutal because then I also get to sample collection his tech creatures, because he's
- 1:31:58got a Mars creature that makes he's got mixed you know, so the Mars
- 1:32:01creature that says keys are plus one for each other Mars and he's playing a
- 1:32:04board of grunts. That stops me if I don't have key abduction. Key
- 1:32:11abduction just ignores that though, because then all goes back in his hand.
- 1:32:15But that was missing or barbment like. I couldn't get any of my seat
- 1:32:18until the last turn of the game, and then I had enough hamber to
- 1:32:23forge my last but he had enough, and I just I couldn't stop him
- 1:32:29on the next turn with shadows. But it's just I couldn't get it.
- 1:32:30I lost to him. Afterwards, I go talk to Jeremy. I'm you
- 1:32:35know, I'm just giving him some grief. I'm like, I had to
- 1:32:38play him and I don't know why. And Jeremy's like, no, you
- 1:32:41played the right person. Corey lost and I'm like, no, no,
- 1:32:44Corey did not lose, and he's like, yeah, Corey lost. I'm
- 1:32:46like no, and I tell him the four people who lost, and you
- 1:32:49could just kind of see it in his face that he went, oh,
- 1:32:54something's wrong. And yes, they manually entered the results wrong. They put
- 1:32:58Ben in his on TOD and Corey is it defeated and we were paired wrong.
- 1:33:06I mean, assuming the game results are as the game results were.
- 1:33:12If I had to play Corey second round and he had to play in first
- 1:33:15round, technically things don't change outside I get the top four and Z doesn't
- 1:33:21unless Ben knocks out Corey right, which who knows what happens there? But
- 1:33:29that that was fun. So once again they're pairing. I feel like I
- 1:33:33think I think they got it out for me. Specifically, they said,
- 1:33:35how can how can we make today sad for Dan? Let's do back YEP,
- 1:33:40that's how it works. Yep, the top eight yet again on top
- 1:33:45Yeah, get to top eight. Like I'm defeated going into Top eight.
- 1:33:49Go home. Many many people would kill to make top eight. So now
- 1:33:54we have someone that's joining us. J Welcome to the club. I am
- 1:34:00very happy to say that it was a long, hard fought battle, but
- 1:34:04I made Top eight boys and girls. It was a really big accomplishment.
- 1:34:09And then it was a very very very short lived game. You can see
- 1:34:13that I streamed it, so I faced second acts or John and Smoke has
- 1:34:20Smoke has a lot of Sea boys and girls, and it also has quite
- 1:34:28a bit of speed with Kirby's and daughters, and I didn't see either of
- 1:34:31them. I mulligant because I did not have Sea, and I did not
- 1:34:38get it. And it went from real bad to really really bad because John
- 1:34:43dropped Legionary Trainer, he dropped a token creature, which reaped. He dropped
- 1:34:50Armed the Plebeians, which dropped another token creature warded, it reaped. He
- 1:34:56dropped a second armed the Plebeians, and he finished. I w to say
- 1:35:00with five or six starian creatures out, and I responded by quickly dropping my
- 1:35:04three on my three star alliance. I know that I had you Genesis Researcher
- 1:35:12Garcia, and I think it was Crewman York. Garcia has a draw pip.
- 1:35:15I did not draw on anything that helped me had He responded by playing
- 1:35:20the one card that would make it even worse than that was Spartasar. So
- 1:35:24he went back to Sarian reep three three, fought with one and wipe my
- 1:35:29board, and I was pretty sure that he was going to go ahead and
- 1:35:33just stand in Sarian for the entire game. He did end up when I
- 1:35:40finally got rid of Spartas or I mean, I was down two keys and
- 1:35:43he was pushing for the third key. I fought back with some fun little
- 1:35:47plays. I did get a key. It felt more of a pity key,
- 1:35:51but it just was way too late, way way way too late.
- 1:35:58So very very quick game and scholar Scholar did some work. John played very
- 1:36:03very well too. I don't want to take anything away from him. Great
- 1:36:08player. Actually, the night before there was a joke because we were just
- 1:36:11sitting around playing some sealed with r LEI and John, and I ended up
- 1:36:15facing John and we're like, Everon's like you should go ahead and play your
- 1:36:17your your match now We're like, now we're just done. So we played
- 1:36:21Sealed. I opened up hot that game. I opened up my first anominally
- 1:36:30and that was pretty cool. The nominally was I'm trying to think lateral lateral
- 1:36:36shifts, so my first lateral shift and that that game went really well.
- 1:36:41But the next day when I needed it, it did not show up.
- 1:36:44So felt a little bad about the top eights because I didn't play as well
- 1:36:47as I didn't draw as well as I could. But that's key Forge two
- 1:36:50and it was great to I mean, that's something that's there. But I
- 1:36:56played very well to get the top eight, and I have to keep that
- 1:36:58in mine. So I'm out of that. Yep, been rocking it all
- 1:37:04right. I think that well, we can go into Alliance. Who ended
- 1:37:11up winning Alliance Jason not Jason, I know that much. Aviator from ABR
- 1:37:19took it down with a double Martian Generosity key Abduction the Heart of the Forest
- 1:37:25deck at a Boy and Jason had. Jason actually lost too, he had
- 1:37:31to play, had to have that play in round against Z So keep that
- 1:37:33in mind as well. I didn't not. Yes, yes, Jason did
- 1:37:40lose to that deck on day one and ended up meeting me, he had
- 1:37:45to feedback up to me, so technically, at that moment I was higher
- 1:37:49than it. Oh for just a moment. We're just a moment, and
- 1:37:56then he crushed me. So yeah, he actually dropped two games to the
- 1:37:59winning deck because he lost in the in the in the double limb phase to
- 1:38:04Aviator, and then you lost in the finals to Aviator. The Aviator did
- 1:38:10lose to Jared once, right, yes, and then then beat him in
- 1:38:15top four. So that's all we got for you. Did hear that it
- 1:38:24had the heart of the forests? Right? I love every minute of it.
- 1:38:28It made my heart of the forest tingled. That doesn't sound right,
- 1:38:31but anyway, well, well the people who are playing against it, they
- 1:38:35tingled a little too, because they were just sitting with amber that they couldn't
- 1:38:40go ahead and forge keys, and it was a little depressing. So I
- 1:38:45kind of wish I would or running Aviator and with Mark on deck answer for
- 1:38:50that ship. Let's go doesn't work against five of them anyways. How can
- 1:39:00you go ahead and cycle back to that reclaimed ze pretty fast? All right?
- 1:39:04I think five I can cycle to a car. There are five of
- 1:39:11them, at least in my perfect world. Are five of them, then
- 1:39:15I will play five or club wow. Only time will tell. And also
- 1:39:20nobody wants to give up all the part of the forest decks for whatever.
- 1:39:26Thanks community, you are amazing because I don't want one person and that Sethiagma,
- 1:39:32Well I am thanking Sith, then thank you Sith, because that's the
- 1:39:36only it's the only Maverick part of the forest I see doing anything that's in
- 1:39:45shadows. So it is what it is. So yeah, unfortunately, not
- 1:39:54a lot of people are not a lot of how many we're total in Alliance
- 1:39:57thirty ninety eight. Yeah Z had said thirty sex I got thirty nine,
- 1:40:01so somewhere in the mid to upper thirties. So again, not not a
- 1:40:06ton going into the Alliance matchups. And that's a lot of people that vacated
- 1:40:13their ticket because we're pretty sure they sold like sixty tickets, so twenty one
- 1:40:17people just didn't show up. Well, four of the actually drafted the draft
- 1:40:23corp buy a ticket. I'm gonna guess y, Yeah he did. He
- 1:40:28think he think he had I think he had one, but it is one
- 1:40:31of the twenty one. And then there's well you played seven, then there's
- 1:40:35seven people that had one that won in Arkham, right, so that's still
- 1:40:41only eight of twenty one that just poofed. There's still thirteen unaccounted for people
- 1:40:45that decided like no, yeah, I mean I don't. I don't.
- 1:40:51I don't know how to fix or remedy that situation. I am with uh
- 1:40:58Colby. I think it is a very interest interesting format. It does make
- 1:41:00things more interesting, but I am also in the knowing camp of it's not
- 1:41:08easy to find good pods, nor does it allow people to really on it,
- 1:41:12like bad decks are still bad decks. I don't know, guys.
- 1:41:15I actually found it really easy. So like, if I don't manage to
- 1:41:20make it in a Minnesota, maybe I'll go play Alliance in the future.
- 1:41:24It sounds of much easier task than making top to an Archon because I'm only
- 1:41:30good enough to get to the top four. Yea, but at least it's
- 1:41:32a little better than But this is progress. Remember you used to not make
- 1:41:35it in a top eight, So I'm this progress. But I think that's
- 1:41:42going to do it for us this week. Next week we'll be doing hopefully
- 1:41:46we'll have information on like what all happened so we can see who what our
- 1:41:53predictions contests, and then we'll do predictions for Minnesota. I think we should
- 1:41:59open us up to the are the users that the listeners too. We could
- 1:42:02do a little for our patrons. We could do a little fun something remind
- 1:42:06me Monday or Tuesday. I can throw up a Google form thing for them.
- 1:42:10Yeah, and we can have we can have predictions and they can do
- 1:42:14predictions, and I don't know, we can figure out something for a prize.
- 1:42:18We're gonna do our first event in a long time, yep, we
- 1:42:21sure are. What is that going to be? She? What's that called?
- 1:42:25So we're gonna play some ass alliance on September ninth. So I have
- 1:42:30twenty four pre release kits. I'll be putting together a flyer and a Google
- 1:42:35form to sign up here shortly and put it up. But we're gonna shoot
- 1:42:39for September ninth. It'll be what four, probably at least four rounds of
- 1:42:45Swiss with what we're calling Anti Survival Alliance steal. And that's why we're beyond
- 1:43:02where my bedtime is now? So yes, so yes, it is.
- 1:43:06So each round, if you win, you have to survival style give up
- 1:43:12a pod that you were playing with. Yep. From your nine pods.
- 1:43:15So after by round four, which there will be at least four rounds,
- 1:43:20you'll be down the winning like the people on the top of the Swiss will
- 1:43:26be down three of their pods from their nine. Got it? Yeah,
- 1:43:30I look forward to losing in this event too. I have I will have
- 1:43:36prize details. It'll be forty bucks plus shipping for the kids. But yeah,
- 1:43:44we have that coming September nine. Wait, we have to give prizing.
- 1:43:47I have so much prizing. It's fine. I mean, we'll give
- 1:43:50lighting, does it? Yes, But this is why we shoul because we
- 1:43:57have prizes. Weird story. We'll probably be giving out the same prizes.
- 1:44:00Oh you know what, I will even put one of these sets of sleeves
- 1:44:04I want at gen Con, one of those sets of sleeves that will slice
- 1:44:10those super rare disc sleeves next level prizing. Are they socked better than the
- 1:44:15old sleeves? Are they still just as hard? Wait? Wait? Wait
- 1:44:18wait wait? Nova? Who took who was our national champion for our cond
- 1:44:24She did go ahead? It is I apologize? Is our national champion for
- 1:44:29the US. She did get a blue dack box? What were your box?
- 1:44:33Yeah? Stay on it. Second second, yeah, in twenty nineteen
- 1:44:41or twenty or something like. The problem with all this, I can guarantee
- 1:44:46our prizing will not include free DT decks. I can guarantee that too.
- 1:44:54I mean, this is this is why I'm looking into these sublimation printers,
- 1:44:58and I just wish they weren't so damn expensive. Did just give us a
- 1:45:01number? What does it take to biop my gamers over here in our chat
- 1:45:08saying gift top eight nationalist prizes, Like, I'm only half joking. I
- 1:45:13just want a number. You just want a number so we know. I
- 1:45:17mean, how many how many months of Patreon money we have to save on
- 1:45:21super persistent find a way to make things happen. We're just gonna be signing
- 1:45:29your checks over again. Is that what we're doing? Selling kidneys in Iran?
- 1:45:33That was a subject of conversation in our discord. Lots of rich people
- 1:45:38like, let's go, I mean, never mind so much to say,
- 1:45:46so a little time, We're gonna get out of here. Look out for
- 1:45:49that for the ass Alliance. No, that's the deal with it. No,
- 1:46:03your donations are accepted and we will change to a new name. This
- 1:46:08is horrible. Anti Survivors were not changing names. Ewok, I like it.
- 1:46:15I liked it so much I was considering switching. We were gonna get
- 1:46:19a mascot, and I was gonna be a donkey already. I went the
- 1:46:26donkey fashionize else is faking uneas to anybody. That's a dream to anybody,
- 1:46:36anyone, anybod
