- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Swahili with Fexingo! I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Hey, Lucas, I'm actually craving something warm today. Lucas: Oh? What's on your mind? Luna: I think... a nice cup of chai. But not just any chai — I want to order it properly in Swahili. Lucas: Perfect timing! Because today we're going to a café — a Swahili café — to order tea. Luna: Yes! So let's start simple. How do I say 'I want tea'? Lucas: Nataka chai. Say it with me: Nataka chai. Luna: Nataka chai. Nataka chai. That's 'I want tea'. Lucas: Exactly. Now, what if you want it with milk? Luna: Ooh, I love chai with milk. So Chai ya maziwa? Lucas: Yes! Chai ya maziwa. Tea of milk — tea with milk. Repeat after me: Chai ya maziwa. Luna: Chai ya maziwa. That's so smooth. Lucas: And if you prefer it black, no milk, you say Chai bila maziwa. Luna: Chai bila maziwa. So bila means 'without'. Lucas: That's right. Bila is a useful word. Now, what about sugar? How do you ask for sugar? Luna: Hmm... Nataka sukari? Lucas: Yes! Nataka sukari. I want sugar. Let's put it all together: Nataka chai ya maziwa na sukari. Luna: So that's 'I want tea with milk and sugar'. Lucas: Exactly. And when you receive it, what do you say? Luna: Asante! Thank you. Lucas: Perfect. Let me hear you order a full cup now. Luna: Nataka chai ya maziwa na sukari. Asante. Lucas: Beautiful! That was excellent. Luna: Oh, I'm so proud of myself. Now I can go to any Swahili café and order my chai just right. Lucas: Absolutely.
