- 0:11Woo woo woo. I got that one die.
- 0:18Totally. I didn't know you were you were
- 0:22physically capable of making that sound.
- 0:25I'm physically capable of a lot of things.
- 0:27Oh my God. If you should be so kind.
- 0:31I think we should move on. All right, before we go to
- 0:36before we get ahead of ourselves here, welcome into Bangor

- 0:45week too. You should have seen his face.
- 0:52You know the listeners are missing out because we we need
- 0:55to start with video because we we have priceless expressions
- 0:58sometimes and shocked face right there.
- 1:02Of course, Jake, Josh and Kevin, the dynamic trio.
- 1:05Better than a burger, fries and root beer.
- 1:07DMW. Once we once we get our YouTube
- 1:10going, it's over for everybody else, you know?
- 1:12Yeah. That's that's what it's all
- 1:14about. Very quick before we get into
- 1:15this, do you guys like root beer?
- 1:18Love double root beer? I've got a fun story about AW
- 1:23Reaper. Actually, this one time I was
- 1:25out clubbing on on Saint Lou. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:28On Sandler on Montreal. And my bunch of my friends are
- 1:32like, we're gonna double ended the night, get some drunk food,
- 1:34whatever. And I just really was in the
- 1:36mood for ice cream. And I knew they had root beer
- 1:38floats. That's the big thing.
- 1:39And so I go to the cashier and I'm like, hey, can I have a root
- 1:43beer float? But like, without the root beer?
- 1:45And she was like, what? And I'm like.
- 1:48Like ice cream? I just want the ice cream and
- 1:50this is where everyone's going, so you know, and.
- 1:53She's like. I go talk to my manager and I'll
- 1:56be right back. And then she comes back and she
- 1:57hands me this like sealed like disk of ice cream that would fit
- 2:01perfectly on the mug of a root beer float.
- 2:03And she's like, you go, here's the here's the ice cream and
- 2:06like, how much do I owe you? And she's like manager said to
- 2:08give it to you for free. So.
- 2:11So now you're in the. Style, yeah.
- 2:14Not sponsored. That is actually brilliant.
- 2:18That's such a good story. OK, let's dive into this really,
- 2:23really funny. Today we're gonna be doing our
- 2:25top 10 fantasy breakout candidates for this upcoming
- 2:2920252026 season. This is going to be Josh.
- 2:35Part Part A Josh know it yours what happened and he's the one
- 2:41that started this. Yeah, exactly you you conceived
- 2:45of part A part A that's going to be a numbers 5:50 for the
- 2:50breakout candidates for this season.
- 2:52A lot of interesting names here to to look that the law can be
- 2:56steals in most drafts. So definitely pay attention
- 2:58guys. It's going to be really good
- 3:00episode. Before we dive in, you could
- 3:02follow us on Spotify, Apple podcasts, wherever you get your
- 3:05podcasts. The link to our link to our
- 3:07socials rather, is in the link in the podcast description.
- 3:10We're on TikTok now. Follow us there and.
- 3:13Yeah, also join, join our discord.
- 3:16I was gonna say as well, we just got it up and running, so trying
- 3:19to grow the community there. Yeah, we're everywhere, baby,
- 3:23except YouTube for the. Moment bunch.
- 3:25Yeah, exactly. Yeah, everyone look behind you
- 3:28right now, OK? Not everyone will get there.
- 3:34Yeah. So should we mention some some
- 3:36honorable mentions before we get into the list?
- 3:38What do you think? I think why not, Yeah, why not
- 3:41feel like. OK, so these are the names that
- 3:43didn't quite like the top 10. Before we get into this, let's
- 3:47lay down the foundation while we're defining as breakout
- 3:51candidates or. Like, OK, yeah, so to me, what
- 3:53makes someone a breakout player, it doesn't mean they have to be
- 3:56from zero to hero. To me, it's really them taking a
- 3:59big step. So can be someone who goes from
- 4:01zero to very solid on your roster, can be someone goes from
- 4:03very solid on your roster to amazing.
- 4:05It's just about taking that big step.
- 4:07It doesn't necessarily matter where that big step is.
- 4:09So that's my disclaimer for a breakout.
- 4:13Yeah, it's not like we think all these guys are gonna be first
- 4:15overall next. Year.
- 4:16Yeah, yeah. But these are type of guys that
- 4:19I guess we. Can are gonna have a lot more
- 4:21value than they did last year and are gonna be a lot worth a
- 4:23lot more than they are gonna be worth a lot more than they were
- 4:26last year, yes. And like, I don't see any names
- 4:29on this list that are going in the top three rounds of any
- 4:31drafts unless you're in Hometown Fan.
- 4:34Maybe in Part B, but not part A. Yeah, definitely not in the
- 4:39first five we're gonna mention. Anyways, let's dive in some
- 4:44honorable mentions. We've got Luke Hughes, Marco
- 4:47Kasper, Adam Fantilli, Kent Johnson, Marco Rossi, Pavel
- 4:52Score, Afev and Matt Coronado. I don't care what anybody.
- 4:58Say. I was just gonna say, in case
- 4:59anybody's adding these names to their preemptive watch list, do
- 5:02not write score afev. You won't be confused.
- 5:05Not a real player, but kind of like a real player.
- 5:08Exactly. Yeah.
- 5:10So these are all guys, yeah. Out of all these, who do you
- 5:12think has the biggest shots like a big jump?
- 5:15For me it's Dora Phev that's my favorite of these ones.
- 5:19I think, I think the the question is, is just out of all
- 5:22these guys, who has the most like quote UN quote, secured
- 5:26deployment? I feel like all these guys have
- 5:27bigger questions than whoever is going to be actually on this
- 5:30list. And that's what's holding them
- 5:32back. But yeah, I think they're fair
- 5:34as well. Or Coronado lowkey.
- 5:37I'm gonna go with Chantilly. I'm going to go with Chantilly.
- 5:41I know it doesn't seem like that.
- 5:43I mean, obviously right away he's kind of buried behind
- 5:45Monahan, but he was such a good prospect, like and he's such a
- 5:50high ceiling. So I think that just the talent
- 5:52there could win out, but. If he takes over Monahan spot
- 5:57then he can definitely definitely and will break out of
- 5:59it if he does that. It's just if you actually
- 6:01believe it. Yeah, I also think Kasper, such
- 6:04an underrated talent. I'm excited to watch all these
- 6:06guys, but. For me, you're all gonna be
- 6:07great. They all made the honorable
- 6:09mentions. None of them made the top 10.
- 6:12Which brings us to the top 10. Yeah, so.
- 6:17One more way. One, Yeah, thanks.
- 6:19I'm really good at them. One more kind of caveat before
- 6:24we dive into these. We're gonna talk about our
- 6:26reasons for why we think these guys are gonna break out.
- 6:29But one kind of blanket reason that covers almost all these
- 6:31guys is the fact that they're just a year older, have another
- 6:33year experience down. And so we're not gonna repeat
- 6:35that for all of them. But something to bear in mind.
- 6:38All right, so #10 on the big breakout list is Morgan Geekie
- 6:43of the Boston Bruins, 27 years old, the oldest guy on this
- 6:47list. Late bloomer right here.
- 6:50Yeah, so he was, we're projecting him to be, he's
- 6:54gonna, he's a left wing or projecting to be on line, one
- 6:56power play, one on. Boston's pretty much a lock in
- 6:58those positions. And what do you guys think about
- 7:01this breakout? Why do you think he's a big
- 7:02breakout candidate? So to me, I see this as
- 7:07completely related to Pasternak. If Morgan Geeks succeeds this
- 7:11year because he's playing with one of the best players in the
- 7:13world, Elias Lindholm or Casey Middlestadt.
- 7:16These are not Those are the top 2 centres.
- 7:19They're not going to. Yeah, Zaka as well.
- 7:23Zach is OK, but I feel like geek.
- 7:25He's really the player on this team, poised to benefit from
- 7:28Pasternak's elite talent. That's why I like it.
- 7:33Do I think that they're gonna be like they're gonna have a bounce
- 7:36back? Yes, because they were so bad,
- 7:38But I don't think they're gonna return to their you know,
- 7:40presidents trophy candidate type teams.
- 7:42I also don't think they're near a playoff team.
- 7:43Nevertheless, they will score because they have passed or not.
- 7:46And I think that this could bring Morgan Geeky to like 70
- 7:50ish points this year. I mean, I think to kind of like
- 7:53tack on to what Jake said, we saw last year, he become
- 7:57honestly very valuable for Bangers League specifically.
- 7:59And we are banger management after all.
- 8:01But he was almost a walking double stable and you picked
- 8:05this guy up on waivers. He's playing with Pastrnak.
- 8:07We saw on this Boston team last year.
- 8:09I mean, listen, they were pretty bad last year, but we saw no
- 8:12honestly fantasy relevant centres like Elias Lindholm kind
- 8:15of like dipped in and out of being fantasy relevant.
- 8:18But it looks like the wingers on this team are where usually the
- 8:21fantasy value is. And he's gonna be playing with
- 8:23Pasternak and on PP1 probably the whole year.
- 8:26I don't see anybody that's taking his spot.
- 8:28He can keep that physicality and also get a higher level, higher
- 8:32floor for his points and higher ceiling.
- 8:35So I like him a lot. I think #10 is reasonable for
- 8:38his breakup. And I think, I think he's gonna
- 8:40be going a lot later than most of the guys on this list.
- 8:43And it will be a good value. Kind of like where you got
- 8:46Jenner last year, I think before the injury.
- 8:49Yeah, I like him A. Lot don't remind me.
- 8:53I like him a lot as a late round pick.
- 8:55Obviously, you know, you don't wanna wait too long before
- 8:57someone else snaps him up, but he's gonna be someone I think
- 8:59you're gonna be happy to have on your roster the entire year.
- 9:02Boston's going to be bad, we all know that, but every bad team
- 9:04has good players. And Pasta still like in the top
- 9:07five conversation, you know, for, for fantasy.
- 9:10So getting to play with him and just be his shotgun is a is a
- 9:12big boon. Noah pun intended to rub salt in
- 9:15Jake's room and and yeah, and I think like some Marshawn getting
- 9:20treated at the last deadline, even though they're Marshawn
- 9:23pressure was right wing and he's left wing and Marshall wasn't
- 9:25necessarily playing with pasta, but it's just one less person to
- 9:28compete with him for pasta shotgun seat.
- 9:31So, so that's why I think he's a big breakout candidate.
- 9:34So on a 12 team league, what's the highest round that you guys
- 9:38would take? Morgan Geeky.
- 9:39I think I'm just trying to base it off of where I got players
- 9:42last year and granted we playing a very deep league that has like
- 9:4621 rounds, so it's fairly deep. I got Buchnevich and the 12th
- 9:50round. I think I feel like geeky,
- 9:53knowing his profile probably goes slightly later than that.
- 9:56I feel like he probably end up going like around 13 to 15 and.
- 9:59I think would be super happy to get him there.
- 10:01Yeah, you probably picked him. It's gonna be like him.
- 10:04Or like Mikael Granlund. Yeah.
- 10:07And then you probably drive Morgan Geeky.
- 10:10Yeah, I agree. I actually picked Boom Jenner in
- 10:12the 10th last year because he had more of a pedigree.
- 10:15But this is like this can return on value and then some, I think,
- 10:18let's say fucking geeky 13th round this year and then we're
- 10:21discussing him for like a six round pick next year.
- 10:23So that's a huge. D6 would be high.
- 10:25I feel like he definitely gets into the 8 to 9 range.
- 10:30Yeah, 70 points with a double double S elite.
- 10:33Yeah. That's true specifically for
- 10:35bankers. So.
- 10:36Yeah, exactly. All right, let's move on to #9.
- 10:40#9 is Cole Perfetti 23 year old on the Winnipeg Jets projected
- 10:45position right wing line 2, power play 1.
- 10:48Josh put him here just because he's going to play on the same
- 10:51team as Gabe Vilardi. That's the only reason.
- 10:53I put him on the nickel in the jar.
- 10:55OHS. Honestly, that's that's $0.10 to
- 11:00a lucky winner at the end of the year for now.
- 11:02Yeah. Yeah, it's it's probably gonna
- 11:06grow at like 10 bucks. I like it.
- 11:08We we've talked a lot about Perfetti already in previous
- 11:11episodes to be sure to check those out yet.
- 11:13But this is an excellent candidate to take a big leap.
- 11:18And compared to other players on this list, like he's also above
- 11:22the average age, right? He's 23, so he's definitely no
- 11:24old geezer. But.
- 11:26Former 10th overall pick in 2020 and already had fifty points
- 11:30last year on a very high scoring Winnipeg Jets team.
- 11:35Yeah, the biggest thing here is that, you know, he's not playing
- 11:39with Kyle Connor, who really is their superstar, but he will be
- 11:42that power play 1 and that's where we expect him to get a lot
- 11:44of his value. So I like Profeti a lot.
- 11:47Yeah, I like guys, like a lot of the guys on this list.
- 11:51The main reason for their breakout is they're just they're
- 11:53really highly touted prospect and they've got another year
- 11:55under their belt. But I find it really great when
- 11:57you also have another thing that to back up the the breakout.
- 12:01And in this case, the Nikolai Euler's trade is just a clear
- 12:04cut. Euler's out.
- 12:05Perfetti been on power play one. That's a huge boost.
- 12:08Winnipeg had the number one power play unit in the league
- 12:11last year. They may not be exactly #1 next
- 12:14year, but they're not gonna drop that much.
- 12:15This is a huge opportunity for him.
- 12:17And he showed that he could run with it in the playoffs.
- 12:19He had a really solid playoffs. So I'm really excited for pretty
- 12:22this year. Yeah.
- 12:24I mean, you guys touched on basically everything, but I
- 12:26think the biggest thing for Perfect is if you look at last
- 12:28year, like he was a guy that was going undrafted in most leagues,
- 12:31there wasn't much value when he was playing in bottom 6 and no
- 12:34power play exposure, some power page, some power play two time
- 12:38throughout the year. And that line honestly was very
- 12:41productive and we saw what he could do with like let's say,
- 12:43quote UN quote subpar linemates. But now he plays in the top 6
- 12:48and basically guaranteed P1 spot.
- 12:50His value shoots through the roof.
- 12:52Like is that a saying Shoot through the roof?
- 12:55I think so. There you go.
- 12:56I can see him getting drafted around 10 or 11 in most of your
- 13:00deep category leagues because he's gonna be a guy that's gonna
- 13:04probably hover around .8 on the high side, maybe .9 points per
- 13:08game. He won't be a category stud like
- 13:11a category coverage, but point 25.3 power play points.
- 13:15Yeah, absolutely. Yeah.
- 13:16Kind of like what Dave already did last year.
- 13:19Exactly. I would take Velardi over him
- 13:23just because of the even strength because Florida gets me
- 13:25online at even strength, but I think they're very similar.
- 13:29Agreed. Cool, let's go to number. 8
- 13:31number. 8 This is Jake's favorite.
- 13:36It should have warned you guys. I just went for it.
- 13:41I love it. Sometimes you just gotta go for
- 13:44it. All right #8 this one for Jakey
- 13:48Big Leo Carlson, 20 years old, centre line, one power play, one
- 13:53on the Anaheim Ducks. Take it away, Erin.
- 13:59He's been on Jake's fantasy team like every year since he was.
- 14:02Drafted. Yeah, I drafted him back when he
- 14:06was playing in the for Orebro HK in the J Nationell.
- 14:12You definitely did. No, no, OK, I.
- 14:18Think you lost his fantasy league that year?
- 14:22So, so to be fair, like this is exactly the trap that I fall for
- 14:27consistently too early. And then the leader, I don't
- 14:30take him. He's gonna be fired.
- 14:31So I'm just gonna keep taking him until I'm right.
- 14:35And this is the year. And here is why I think that the
- 14:40Ducks are totally invested in him, him being the elite talent
- 14:44on this team. Leo Carlson was drafted second
- 14:47overall. I know Mctavish was drafted
- 14:49third a few years ago, but I think that they're expecting Leo
- 14:51to be like that guy for them and you know, it makes.
- 14:55Using trade rumors. Yeah, so that's, you know, I
- 14:58mean, if he goes like Leo's easily, easily the guy.
- 15:02I would definitely bump him in any rankings I have if Mctavish
- 15:05gets traded. Because even though that's kind
- 15:08of a power play, 1A1B for the Anaheim Ducks, I think they can
- 15:11consolidate on like one power play and put all their studs
- 15:16there. And Leo's definitely gonna fit
- 15:17there for this year. I'm worried about his face off
- 15:20reduction if you're in a faceoff league because young guys are
- 15:22just not great face off, you know, ears.
- 15:26But for for now, look, 45 points in 76 games last year.
- 15:30I think that he can easily get to 60 and 82 with great ice time
- 15:36and good coverage overall. What do you guys think?
- 15:39I mean, I think he's playing on a line with Cutter and Alex
- 15:43Killorn. The line could be better if he
- 15:45was playing with Sam Colangelo. But listen, we can't be would be
- 15:51too picky, but I I think he set up for success.
- 15:53I think the big question is what the Anaheim does with their
- 15:56power plays because they were kind of doing like A1A1B last
- 15:59year when splitting their talent.
- 16:00If they kind of consolidate, I think it should be around him
- 16:04right now. If you look at, let's say you're
- 16:05referencing daily face off or whatever, like he's gonna be on
- 16:07PowerPoint 2, which is kind of odd.
- 16:09I think if he's the 1C and Mctavish isn't trade rumors
- 16:12already like definitely committed to Leo Carlton for the
- 16:14long haul. I think he should be the guy on
- 16:16the quote UN quote main power play unit.
- 16:18I'm a little worried about his linemates to be honest.
- 16:20I just don't know if there's any, like if they have the
- 16:23ceiling to kind of elevate him points wise and I don't know if
- 16:27the power play production will sustain his value throughout the
- 16:31season. So honestly, I'm a little
- 16:32worried about his breakout. He's the guy on this list that I
- 16:34feel like is is the most squishy in terms of like his his his
- 16:41fantasy value, but he he's a beast of a talent.
- 16:45Like he could shoot through the roof if you will.
- 16:48Yeah, for me, I will. Actually, for me, I like him
- 16:53because I think Anaheim's taking a big step this year.
- 16:56We've mentioned a bunch in past episodes, but we viewed them as
- 16:58kind of like the Habs, but one year removed.
- 17:00So the Habs took a big step last year.
- 17:02I expect him to take a big step this year.
- 17:04To me, he's the clear line, one power play, 1 centre.
- 17:06He's their guy. Mctavish or no Mctavish, he's
- 17:09above him in the in the depth chart.
- 17:10And I think that last year Carlson got .6 points per game
- 17:14with pretty much 0 power play production.
- 17:17So any power play production, assuming he maintains that
- 17:19points per game, even strength, any power play production is
- 17:22just a bonus that bumps on. That's a good point.
- 17:24And then the fact is they traded for Chris Kreider.
- 17:27I'm not a fan of Crider for fantasy this year, but I am a
- 17:29fan of how he could add power play value to that team.
- 17:32You know, as a net front guy, he's great at tipping it in.
- 17:35So I think that's gonna give Carlson some more power play
- 17:37points, which will boost his overall points.
- 17:39So I think it's definitely gonna be a bit of a breakout for him.
- 17:41I think he has more room to break out after this year.
- 17:44This isn't going to be his final, you know, coming out of
- 17:46his cocoon as a butterfly. But you know what?
- 17:48He's gonna he's gonna take a step in his metamorphosis this
- 17:51year. The only the only thing though
- 17:52is I mean, listen, like we do not know what the lines are
- 17:55going to like right now. We're still months out from the
- 17:57season. So we'll have a better idea
- 17:59closer to the start of the season.
- 18:01But like if I like the situation, I like the wingers
- 18:04that the other centres on the team are playing with.
- 18:06Like I'd rather he centre the Toronto and Grantland or I'd
- 18:08rather he centre. And Troy Terry, you don't know
- 18:11for sure. What exactly that's why so we
- 18:13don't know right now, but I. Would expect them to give him
- 18:15the best wingers. Then I'm obviously way more
- 18:19excited about the situation. Yeah, they also, in real life,
- 18:24the Anaheim Ducks kind of reached to get him.
- 18:26So it means that they see something special in him, so
- 18:29they're gonna wanna make it. Work.
- 18:30Yeah. He's their future 1C.
- 18:31Like they're gonna put him in the best situation.
- 18:33I mean, they should have. They were smart.
- 18:35Yeah. Yeah, exactly, which is question
- 18:37mark for some teams sometimes. Nevertheless, this is an
- 18:41exciting player to watch. This year's number or Kevin?
- 18:46You wanna do it? #7 not as good as last, but I'm
- 18:51working. On it, I think you do it every
- 18:53time. OK, It's at 7.
- 18:55We have Alexi Lafreniere of the New York Rangers, 23 years old,
- 19:00left wing, on line one power play, question mark, power play
- 19:03one. Maybe that's the big discussion
- 19:05point. I go ahead, go ahead.
- 19:10I think so. I just think that that's where
- 19:12they're gonna try to make it work with them.
- 19:14Like this is OK. Just to to backtrack to Leo
- 19:18Carlson, They reached to get him in the draft.
- 19:20Alexis Lafreniere was the no-brainer #1 they like, they
- 19:24have to make it work. And if it's not this year, then
- 19:26he's just. Officially adjust.
- 19:27Pay them too. Yeah, exactly.
- 19:29I. Think you know what I always
- 19:30say? Really invest it.
- 19:32What do you always? Go to that money, baby.
- 19:37They have to, they, they really investing in Lafreniere I think
- 19:41more than ever with the corridor trade.
- 19:43And I just, I mean, look, he's gonna, if he plays on the wing
- 19:46with Panera and in the opposite wing and power play one, this
- 19:49can be huge for him. And I really, really think
- 19:52they're going to push that as hard as they can.
- 19:56Yeah. I've got like 3 big reasons that
- 19:59I think this could be a breakout year for him.
- 20:01One is following that money, as we mentioned. 2 is the Crider
- 20:04trade like Jackie just mentioned.
- 20:06Three, one of the really big ones for me is that Laviolette
- 20:08got fired and he is notorious for being bad at developing
- 20:11young players and always defaulting to the veterans and
- 20:13giving them better ice time. So biting him leaving and change
- 20:17of scenery with the coaching, I think this is gonna be the last
- 20:20chance to crack power play one. Regardless of cracking power
- 20:22play one, he's gonna take a step up.
- 20:24But with that power play one spot, it's going to be a leap.
- 20:26So I'm really excited for this season.
- 20:28I mean, honestly, if you were up to me, I mean, I don't want to I
- 20:31don't want to spoil the rest the list, but I feel like I have him
- 20:34like a spot or two higher. Honestly, just I'm really
- 20:37convinced that the deployment is going to be there this year.
- 20:39I think the New York Rangers are one of the teams that's gonna
- 20:41bounce back to hardest this year.
- 20:44They were honestly awful last when they almost made the
- 20:46playoffs. So I think this year they're
- 20:49they're kind of like really poised to make that jump back to
- 20:52where they should be. Like there there should be a
- 20:54Stanley Cup contender technically, right?
- 20:56There should be. They have the roster for, they
- 20:58have the goaltending, they have the power play for it.
- 21:02I love, I love Lafreniere. I think he's submitted himself
- 21:05as like one of those fantasy double double s like power
- 21:07forward types that there's not really many of them in the
- 21:09league that can contribute at a high point space.
- 21:12I think he set up for success. I think the the one that gets
- 21:15bumped off this power play is probably going to be Saber
- 21:18Trocheck. They they've they favored
- 21:20Trocheck being off the power play the most in the past, but I
- 21:23think they honestly is like the weakest member on this team.
- 21:26Yeah, You know, the the weakest part of the Rangers roster to me
- 21:30is by far, by far their defence. And that's great for fantasy
- 21:34because, you know, the the more goals that they let in, the more
- 21:37they're gonna need to score. And even though she's Durkin's
- 21:40probably the most talented goalie in the league at this
- 21:43point, you can't do it all like the Rangers will need to score
- 21:47if they're going to succeed. They're not going to be a
- 21:48shutdown team like LA. They lost Miller, they added
- 21:51gave Rikov, they added Carson sushi as well.
- 21:55So I mean there are third line is honestly suspect, but I feel
- 21:58like they're top 4 is not too bad, but like you said like
- 22:01definitely not their strong point at this point in the
- 22:03season. Yeah, it's it's a top heavy
- 22:05team. Like they need that top 6 to
- 22:07produce, which is why we also love Will Cooley.
- 22:09Yeah, but yeah, I'm excited by by this one too.
- 22:14I mean, like you said at the beginning, it's a bunch of young
- 22:16players who can have that that next year breakout.
- 22:20And I mean, really, of this top five that we're mentioning,
- 22:24Lafreniere's point ceiling should be the highest.
- 22:28Yeah, I mean, honestly like to to Kevin's point about him being
- 22:31higher on the list, the only reason I had him this quote UN
- 22:35quote low, you know, he still 7th out of everyone.
- 22:37But the reason I had him this low was because of the question
- 22:40mark next to power play one. If he gets that power play 1 to
- 22:43me he's a no brainer. Like top three top 4 breakout
- 22:45guy this year. Like realistically, if he if he
- 22:48gets power play one, let's say. And you know, going into the
- 22:50season, like I drafted stretching the calf, I think
- 22:54around 4:00 last year, Timo Meyer went around 5.
- 22:57Like Live could easily have a better and both of those guys
- 22:59did last year. I'd hope so.
- 23:03You don't like specially called Josh?
- 23:06Moving on. Hit us, Kevin.
- 23:11Yeah. Don't burst 6.
- 23:15That was. Great at #6 we've got the Pride
- 23:20Of Montreal, You realize that, Cosky, 21 years old, right wing
- 23:26line, one power play, one on your Montreal Canadiens.
- 23:31Josh, you reached for him last year in the draft like 2 rounds
- 23:33early. Were you taking him this year?
- 23:35How many rounds you reaching? Well, I'm not gonna reach again,
- 23:37but I think he may have earned where I took him last year for
- 23:40this year, if that makes. Sense you took him last year at
- 23:43the lower value, he's going to go ahead of where you took him
- 23:45last year. I think he's gonna go.
- 23:47I took him last year around 8:00 and I think he should go maybe
- 23:51around 7:00, but that's I think kind of around where he where he
- 23:54should be going. This is this is the new, I think
- 23:58the the top new up and coming power forward in the league
- 24:00that's gonna be able to contribute at a high level.
- 24:03And I mean, we've spoken about laugh being almost a double
- 24:07double. Like it's kind of two shots, 1.5
- 24:09hits. Like we saw slash after the All
- 24:11Star break last year just go on a tear.
- 24:12Like he really channeled his inner Brady could Chuck.
- 24:15He was like, that's kind of who you wanted to make his game
- 24:17after and we saw it on the stat sheet.
- 24:19So. It wasn't just the hits too, he
- 24:21was also blocking. If you're lead counts blocks,
- 24:23there's not many forwards who could consistently contribute to
- 24:25that. Shots, it's points like he was
- 24:28kind of doing it all and you were you would have games like
- 24:317-8 hits, five blocks randomly, like games that honestly like
- 24:35really change the trajectory of your matchup.
- 24:37So the fact that he has that in his bag is very impressive.
- 24:41Does he keep PowerPoint 1? I think so.
- 24:43I think that's the biggest question for his value.
- 24:44Like if you lose P1 honestly I think that's like the biggest.
- 24:47That they. Still be valuable, but he gets
- 24:50more closer to Will Cooley territory.
- 24:52You know what? I.
- 24:52Mean, I just don't see any way he loses to our play one because
- 24:55his challengers for power play 1 can't do the same archetype of
- 24:58position that he does. He's the net front guy.
- 25:01No one else on the Habs is a skilled net front guy.
- 25:04You know, the guys who's challenging is pretty much
- 25:06Demidov, right? But Demidov would have to slot
- 25:08in for like a line or something like that because you can't have
- 25:10five guys on the perimeter taking snipes.
- 25:12You need a guy in front who can deflect it and kind of little
- 25:15bit busy pucks. Yeah, exactly.
- 25:16Kind of screen the goalie, go in the board to get the puck back
- 25:19and retrieve it for the for the defenseman to restart the play.
- 25:22So I don't think he's losing power play on anything's
- 25:24possible, but I'd be very surprised.
- 25:27Yeah, as you mentioned, Kevin, last year in the Four Nations
- 25:30face off after he watched Brady to Chuck play, that was like the
- 25:34switch that. Turns awakening.
- 25:36Yeah, he said. I remember there was like a
- 25:38quote that he always wanted to model his game after Patrick
- 25:41Kane, but after seeing Brady to Chuck in the Four Nations he
- 25:43decided that that's what he wants to model his game after.
- 25:46Is the body that. He doesn't mean he's a unit.
- 25:49He absolute monster 63240 What? There's a lot of things that he
- 25:57do physically. OK. 21 years old.
- 26:07Quit. Repeating that one for Kevin.
- 26:12OK, OK, OK. Let me let me ask you, what do
- 26:15you think is floor is that wise this season?
- 26:18OK, So what do you mean like like categories?
- 26:21Shots like hits like, what do you think?
- 26:23Like, you know, let's say worst case scenario, what's gonna
- 26:26happen for him? I don't, I think.
- 26:29I think the point floor is 50. Like I actually think that he
- 26:32could get 50 points as a floor. But if he does that, that means
- 26:36that he's off power play 1. And where you guys said, I know
- 26:39you think it's a big blow to his value, no doubt about it.
- 26:42But if he does that, then I see him being like a triple, triple
- 26:47and like with a block a game which is. 3 Three shots a game
- 26:51would be tough I think. Yeah, the shots is the hardest
- 26:53part of that, but I fully agree with the hits and blocks.
- 26:55Yeah, I think, I think the average over three hits the end
- 26:58this year. Yeah, over three hits, OK, fine.
- 27:01Let's say 2 1/2 shots maybe, and then a block.
- 27:04I mean, that's that's elite that if you pick that, that gives you
- 27:08the freedom to pick a guy like Lane Hudson who's maybe not
- 27:11gonna do anything in the back categories.
- 27:13Another on the same team, but whatever.
- 27:14But he'll be like an amazing point scoring defenseman.
- 27:17These are the type of guys, sorry.
- 27:19Power play stack. That's it.
- 27:21That could be really fun. But if he were, I don't see him
- 27:25getting a point per game, truly. But I see 70 points and if he
- 27:28can do that triple double type dynamic or double, triple, I
- 27:32forget what we want to call it. Yeah, I'm elated with that.
- 27:36And of these people that we listed, I mean, obviously he's
- 27:39he's number six out of 10. So he's in the top five of the
- 27:42bottom 5. But he's the one that I'm most
- 27:44comfortable reaching on because I think he has that amazing
- 27:47category floor. So I'm huge on Slomkowski.
- 27:50Here I do think that he's a bit different than the rest of this
- 27:53top ten because where I see him taking the biggest step is like
- 27:56we've mentioned in the back hats while also taking a step in the
- 27:59points cats. But all the other guys were
- 28:00mentioning, it's mostly like I think they're gonna take a big
- 28:02point point step and then, you know, the backups might follow a
- 28:05little bit. But this guy like very big cats
- 28:07guy and then also we'll take a point step.
- 28:09So it's an interesting comparison to the rest of the.
- 28:11List let me ask you cause I'm I mean he's playing with Garfield
- 28:14and Suzuki like doesn't get better than that on Montreal for
- 28:17the moment. If he keeps that power play 1
- 28:19exposure. Who are you taking Slough or
- 28:22Matthew Noyes? Are there do do we speak about
- 28:26this one? I think, I said.
- 28:29I think, I think we did. And we had spoken about this.
- 28:32I I said Slough and I'm sticking with Slough.
- 28:35I mean, he's, he's good. I think he's gonna be a 4th, 5th
- 28:40round pick this year because I'm.
- 28:43I'm expecting. I'm expecting.
- 28:44No, I'm thinking Slough. I mean, OK, I think Nice will be
- 28:47around the same range. As worse laugh goes, I think
- 28:49you'll have to make the choice between the two of them.
- 28:52Yeah, I'm still going nice, but but I think they're both gonna
- 28:55be a very nice Yeah. Is this Suzuki is not Matthews
- 29:01in the eyes of most fantasy players.
- 29:04But the truth is like, who's gonna be getting more assist
- 29:08this year between the Suzuki and Matthews?
- 29:11Suzuki. I think Suzuki breaks 90 points
- 29:13this year. Who's gonna get more points?
- 29:16I have no idea. So for all intents and purposes,
- 29:18was a better gonna. Get more points than Suzuki.
- 29:20Love Suzuki but getting more. Points for sure I.
- 29:23Wanted to say for sure guys, really not.
- 29:26Say that are you learning? Do you like you like there's
- 29:31jump or or more of a Matthews that step back?
- 29:34I mean, I don't think it's any of those.
- 29:37Like last year, Nick Suzuki had 89 points in 82 games and
- 29:46Matthews had 78 and 67. I mean, that's significantly
- 29:50more on a point per game basis. Yeah, that's on the point per
- 29:54game. It's you'd have to be betting on
- 29:56another Matthews injury for Suzuki to get more points in my
- 29:59opinion. But regardless, it's still fair
- 30:02to say slap over nice. I just think that once.
- 30:04I think their points will be kind of similar, probably give
- 30:07the edge knives for sure, but I just think that the slap will be
- 30:12such a big force in the back categories that it'll cover the
- 30:15gap and I'd rather have the gate.
- 30:16It is more all-encompassing and is hitting three times a game
- 30:20and one block a game. Would you guys take slap over
- 30:23Cofield? Yes, yes, it depends on if
- 30:28you're if you're Leaf really favors goals.
- 30:30I think I'm obviously going Cofield, but I think if you're
- 30:35in a categories league or you're bangers league, I think you have
- 30:37to take laugh. Because Coffield like it's not
- 30:40just the goals and points, which he's obviously gonna do better
- 30:42than Slough in, but the shots, which is huge.
- 30:45You know slaps edge on Cofield is only in hits and blocks.
- 30:47The thing is in bangers league it's it's too big of a
- 30:49difference. Like you're you're adding,
- 30:51you're doing, you know, maybe, maybe coffee averages 11.5 shots
- 30:55more, but slab averages three hits more and a block a game.
- 30:58Like that's just too much to overcome, I think.
- 31:01But it's your question would would you take?
- 31:04OK, now this is not this is not a good one, but.
- 31:07I just interject for a second like, yeah, the thing with with
- 31:10Matthews like, well, I just wanna like go back to that
- 31:12really quickly. Matthews is not necessarily
- 31:16going to bring out the value the way the others will.
- 31:19And I can definitely assure you that call field is going to
- 31:21bring it out more than Michelle. But it could be Neil under on
- 31:24that line. That would be a pretty loaded I
- 31:27mean. Would you?
- 31:27Would you? Would you rather?
- 31:28Would you rather switch or Slough?
- 31:31Slough. For the price sloth.
- 31:34I've never taking a Carolina Hurricane player.
- 31:37Hold on. Hold on, I'm gonna, I'm gonna
- 31:38split the difference Slough from the Trushkin.
- 31:41Slough Nichushkin has he when he's on his game.
- 31:44I would take the chicken but he has so many question Marks and
- 31:46he's always injured and suspended and whatever, it's not
- 31:49worth the headache. Kevin, you wanna do one more and
- 31:52then we'll wrap up this one. Yeah, OK, let me think.
- 31:55Slap or yes, brat. Brat.
- 31:58Ooh. Guess for Brad is the best
- 32:00player in the NHL. No, I mean, obviously it's a
- 32:06different type of player, but yeah, that's difference is just
- 32:08too huge. This goes down to like roster
- 32:11construction but probably probably slap if.
- 32:17You guys are crazy. You know, you know, I'm a
- 32:21certified yes for Brad Hader. Apparently, yeah.
- 32:23You guys are so low on rat you have like.
- 32:26No, I started. I like that is like Marty
- 32:29manages rat is like Marty natures to me and Jiggy love
- 32:32natures. Like you're gonna take Slough
- 32:34over naches. No.
- 32:36Yeah. And Brad is probably getting
- 32:38more points than he's next year. Slash first time goes.
- 32:42Slough for sure. Yeah, you gotta like people are
- 32:47like, what about for geeky? Honestly, I'm going geeky.
- 32:55Sneaky. Too, No.
- 32:57Stamkos is like, I mean, yeah, he could be a great bounce back
- 33:00candidate, but like, no. OK, Slapper Marchenko.
- 33:04Marchenko, obviously. Marchenko.
- 33:06OK, I thought Jake was gonna give us something special.
- 33:09Marchenko. For Michael.
- 33:11No, no, this is way. This is way too many.
- 33:14OK, so The thing is, I just want to say the reason that I'm
- 33:18higher on nature is because I think he's gonna get more goals.
- 33:21That's it. That's the back to what you were
- 33:23saying before, Josh. Because you said yesterday,
- 33:25shorties. Nobody cares about shorts except
- 33:28us. Very, very short enough.
- 33:29Very. Sean Kingston No.
- 33:32No. No, Kevin.
- 33:33No, No. Ohk OK, I'm going to the next
- 33:35one. No, it's done.
- 33:37Yeah, OHT days over. Party is over, you don't have to
- 33:42go. Home, but you can't stay here.
- 33:44Yeah, exactly. So that wraps it up for the.
- 33:51Wait, just one, One more, one more.
- 33:52How do I what? Wait one more?
- 33:56OK, hold. On last, can you?
- 33:57Can you? Can you?
- 33:58Change the Robertson or Slough. Robertson.
- 34:00Jason Robertson. OK, yeah, I'm awake.
- 34:03You your FYI what? I'm low on Robertson this year.
- 34:07What are you doing? Takes left.
- 34:10I don't know if Robertson, I think that that 100 point year
- 34:13is a flash in the pan and I feel like he's more of like a 80
- 34:16point guy. He would takes laugh.
- 34:18I think I would take laugh cause I think I.
- 34:21That's crazy, no? I love it though only about
- 34:22crazy. What if Robertson does 80 points
- 34:25and 2.5 shots a game? No, no, it's not crazy.
- 34:27I love it. It's I don't agree, but I love
- 34:30it. Alright, let's wrap this up.
