SPEAKER_00: Well we figured out who it was from last week and we were wrong.
• 0:10
  SPEAKER_00: It was me.
• 0:11
SPEAKER_00: There's not any of the none of the companies that we thought that uh Josh Scott was talking about.
• 0:17
SPEAKER_00: We weren't right at all.
• 0:19
SPEAKER_00: Did we not mention Ernie Ball?
• 0:22
SPEAKER_00: I think we might have mentioned them.
• 0:23
  SPEAKER_01: We did briefly.
• 0:25
SPEAKER_00: It was like they don't make pedals really.
• 0:27
  SPEAKER_00: That's a string company.
• 0:28
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 0:30
SPEAKER_01: It's hard to remember what I said last week.
• 0:31
SPEAKER_01: That was a week ago.
• 0:32
  SPEAKER_01: Isn't it?
• 0:33
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 0:33
SPEAKER_00: That was like as a 4,000 conversations ago.
• 0:36
  SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
• 0:36
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, oh, easily.
• 0:38
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 0:39
SPEAKER_00: Maybe, maybe before we start podcasts, maybe we should start listening to the previous week.
• 0:44
SPEAKER_01: I don't want to hear myself again.
• 0:46
SPEAKER_01: Do you know how much I tweet on the internet?
• 0:48
  SPEAKER_00: Madness.
• 0:48
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 0:49
SPEAKER_00: You know how weird that is listening to your own podcast?
• 0:51
  SPEAKER_00: It's kind of odd.
• 0:52
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I do it every week when I put the episode up, Brian, and I'm not a fan.
• 0:57
  SPEAKER_02: Although I do laugh a lot.
• 0:59
SPEAKER_02: I'm not gonna sometimes we do say some funny things, sometimes not so funny.
• 1:04
SPEAKER_02: Sometimes I cut bits out after Brian's edited it, but not very often.
• 1:08
  SPEAKER_00: I'm used to it.
• 1:10
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 1:11
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 1:11
SPEAKER_01: What episode number would this be?
• 1:13
SPEAKER_01: Like this will be six six two six.
• 1:16
SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's a lot of blabbering on the internet.
• 1:18
SPEAKER_02: That is a lot of blabbering on the internet.
• 1:20
  SPEAKER_02: We do it well.
• 1:21
SPEAKER_02: Uh so I was a little non-plussed by oh, it's Ernie Ball and Source Audio.
• 1:27
SPEAKER_02: Like, that is not as salacious as oh, it's electro harmonics and I don't know, um, Chase Bliss, for example.
• 1:36
SPEAKER_01: Josh, I love you, Josh, but I gotta, I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I'm gonna pull a sl a small critique out of my my trucker hat.
• 1:45
SPEAKER_01: You said that it was two pedal companies.
• 1:48
SPEAKER_01: Well, that is technically, technically true.
• 1:52
SPEAKER_01: If you survey a hundred guitar players, are they gonna say, and you say, what kind of company is Ernie Ball?
• 1:59
SPEAKER_01: Are they gonna say, that's a guitar pedal company?
• 2:02
SPEAKER_01: Now, I know they make one of the best-selling guitar pedals individual units of all time, the volume pedal.
• 2:09
  SPEAKER_01: Of course.
• 2:10
SPEAKER_01: It's like the industry standard.
• 2:12
SPEAKER_01: But would you would you consider their brand to be a guitar pedal brand?
• 2:19
SPEAKER_01: Would you would you think any guitar player is gonna be like, Yep, they make guitar pedals?
• 2:24
SPEAKER_01: No, they're gonna be like, that's a string company, that's what they make.
• 2:29
SPEAKER_01: So maybe asterisk there is all I'm saying.
• 2:33
SPEAKER_01: And I know they've sold probably more pedals than some pedal companies.
• 2:38
  SPEAKER_01: I get it.
• 2:39
  SPEAKER_01: I I understand.
• 2:40
SPEAKER_01: But I feel like we were led down a different rabbit trail slightly, which is I I get it.
• 2:45
  SPEAKER_01: It's the point.
• 2:46
SPEAKER_00: It's like saying I love my favorite, my favorite cable company in the world.
• 2:49
SPEAKER_00: You know, it's the best they make the best cables.
• 2:51
  SPEAKER_00: It's Fender.
• 2:52
SPEAKER_00: You know, you're like, yeah, but you may make cables, but that's not what they do, really.
• 2:58
  SPEAKER_00: Right.
• 2:58
SPEAKER_01: They make casters and stratocasters.
• 3:00
SPEAKER_02: I'm not even lying about this, and I guess we'll probably have to talk about this at some point.
• 3:05
SPEAKER_02: But the legal issues with Fender have made me think every time I've taken like a photo for us, I'm normally plugging Fender cables, and I'm like, oh no, what if someone sees the logo and is like, eh, but you guys are supporting the evil Fender core?
• 3:19
SPEAKER_02: I'm like, no, it's just they make good cables.
• 3:22
  SPEAKER_02: It's uh Ernie Ball.
• 3:24
  SPEAKER_01: It's a it's a weird thing, right?
• 3:26
SPEAKER_01: Like, yeah, when we we gave away that telecaster, and everyone's like, You're supporting Fender.
• 3:30
SPEAKER_01: We're like, by buying a guitar from a musician, yeah, and giving it to another musician.
• 3:38
SPEAKER_01: Uh Fender didn't see a dime of that.
• 3:40
  SPEAKER_01: Sorry.
• 3:41
  SPEAKER_01: Like, I I don't know, and that wasn't intentional.
• 3:43
SPEAKER_01: It's just people get a little weird.
• 3:46
SPEAKER_02: But but you both actually make a really interesting reverse point about this acquisition.
• 3:52
  SPEAKER_01: Ooh, Uno reverse card.
• 3:53
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, because maybe the whole reason this is interesting is because Ernie Bull want to get some of that sweet, sweet pedal market.
• 4:04
SPEAKER_02: All of those dollars, and this is their big move.
• 4:07
SPEAKER_02: This is their like was it uh who bought Way Huge?
• 4:12
  SPEAKER_02: Was that MXR?
• 4:13
SPEAKER_02: Uh Dunlop, but same idea.
• 4:15
  SPEAKER_02: MXR, same thing.
• 4:17
SPEAKER_02: Maybe this is kind of that that move for the for Ernie Bull.
• 4:21
SPEAKER_02: It's kind of like we need to do more than just these three volume pedals.
• 4:25
SPEAKER_01: Let's let's now add three delay pedals.
• 4:28
SPEAKER_01: And they've tried, they've they've put other pedals in the volume pedal format and just didn't quite take in the market like maybe they hoped it would, which is understandable.
• 4:37
SPEAKER_02: Do either of you guys ever use a volume pedal, like in your live rig?
• 4:44
SPEAKER_01: Every time I play it out.
• 4:47
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 4:47
  SPEAKER_02: No, you don't.
• 4:49
SPEAKER_02: He doesn't ever play out.
• 4:51
  SPEAKER_02: Oh, yes, good point.
• 4:53
SPEAKER_00: Now, I mean, I know people that do, but I'm never no, uh, it's never one of my things.
• 4:59
  SPEAKER_01: I like I like them.
• 5:00
  SPEAKER_01: Uh they are fun.
• 5:01
SPEAKER_01: I have a uh Morley one here.
• 5:04
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 5:04
  SPEAKER_01: And uh classic.
• 5:05
SPEAKER_01: I'd I dig interesting typeface they chose.
• 5:08
SPEAKER_00: It's a lot of real estate space though for such little function.
• 5:12
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 5:12
SPEAKER_01: It really depends on what how much you need that.
• 5:15
SPEAKER_01: Like, because otherwise you can just do it with your volume knob.
• 5:18
SPEAKER_01: But if you really need that function, you're doing a lot of swelling, you're trying to do pedal steel imitation, it's absolutely essential.
• 5:26
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 5:27
  SPEAKER_02: Sure.
• 5:28
SPEAKER_02: I've been doing quite a bit of swelling today.
• 5:31
  SPEAKER_02: That's because it's hot.
• 5:32
  SPEAKER_02: It's hot.
• 5:33
  SPEAKER_02: It's sweating.
• 5:34
  SPEAKER_02: Not swelling, sweating, yeah.
• 5:36
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so look, I I'll go back to the main story.
• 5:39
  SPEAKER_02: I I'm kind of with like I I never use a volume pedal.
• 5:43
SPEAKER_02: Maybe if you're recording a song and you need to do a specific part, yeah, fair enough.
• 5:47
SPEAKER_02: But when you're actually playing, never use one.
• 5:50
SPEAKER_02: If I need to cut the volume of my guitar, it's got a volume knob on it.
• 5:55
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 5:56
  SPEAKER_01: It's it's genre specific.
• 5:57
SPEAKER_01: I know why people use them.
• 5:58
SPEAKER_01: I just don't need it up now.
• 6:00
SPEAKER_00: I would guess maybe it's bigger in praise and worship.
• 6:03
SPEAKER_00: Don't you do a lot of swelling type stuff and that type of music?
• 6:06
SPEAKER_00: That's my understanding of the situation.
• 6:08
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 6:09
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 6:09
SPEAKER_01: And then like I said, pedal steel imitators use it constantly.
• 6:12
SPEAKER_01: And pedal steel people use volume pedals constantly.
• 6:15
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, pedal steel, no, that's yeah, that's a big market for that for sure.
• 6:19
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and neither of those are massive markets over here.
• 6:22
SPEAKER_02: So maybe there's also a little bit of a cultural difference going on.
• 6:26
SPEAKER_02: I'm not saying they don't exist, but they're just not big.
• 6:28
SPEAKER_02: There's no massive praise and worship like scene over here in the same way there is over there.
• 6:34
  SPEAKER_02: We've we've mentioned that before.
• 6:35
SPEAKER_00: I thought there was the big what's the big church?
• 6:39
  SPEAKER_00: Uh no, no, no.
• 6:43
SPEAKER_00: The big church that does all the uh praise and worship albums.
• 6:47
SPEAKER_00: I thought they were they had a big massive church over in England.
• 6:51
  SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
• 6:52
SPEAKER_00: I can't remember the name of me in a minute.
• 6:55
SPEAKER_01: No, there is a big there is a big Mormon church here somewhere.
• 6:58
SPEAKER_01: Um those are the door knockers, that's a different thing.
• 7:01
  SPEAKER_01: Okay.
• 7:01
SPEAKER_02: No, they're they're the Jehovah's Witnesses are the door knockers over here.
• 7:06
SPEAKER_02: Oh, they do that too.
• 7:07
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 7:07
SPEAKER_02: They give you little magazines as well if you're nice.
• 7:10
SPEAKER_00: I want to say elevate, but that's oh, Hillsong.
• 7:13
  SPEAKER_00: Hillsong.
• 7:14
  SPEAKER_00: Never mind.
• 7:14
SPEAKER_00: Oh, are they still still doing that?
• 7:17
SPEAKER_00: Are they don't they have a big church over there in in the UK somewhere?
• 7:21
SPEAKER_02: I mean, I'm in the Shires, Bri.
• 7:23
  SPEAKER_02: I never see a big church.
• 7:25
SPEAKER_02: My nearest church is three times as old as your country.
• 7:29
SPEAKER_02: So it's literally about the size of your job.
• 7:33
  SPEAKER_00: Okay, yeah.
• 7:33
SPEAKER_00: So so there is a big mega church of the Hillsong Hillsong does have a big mega church of the church.
• 7:37
SPEAKER_02: But it'll be in like London or Manchester or Birmingham.
• 7:40
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, uh Birmingham, London, yeah.
• 7:43
SPEAKER_01: And then that was formed when the King of England wanted to get married for the eighth time, right?
• 7:47
SPEAKER_01: Or is that a am I getting my history confused?
• 7:51
  SPEAKER_02: Maybe a little bit.
• 7:52
SPEAKER_02: I mean one assumes your history of England has improved after watching us uh in the World Cup where we are now through to the semifinals, meaning whatever happens, we're one of the top four football teams in the world.
• 8:08
  SPEAKER_00: I was hoping.
• 8:08
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I was thinking just the other day.
• 8:10
SPEAKER_00: I'm like, you know what I hope for?
• 8:12
SPEAKER_00: I hope that uh those when they kick that ball around back and forth, I hope that uh England is like the best.
• 8:18
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, Brian.
• 8:21
SPEAKER_01: It's like we're on the same wavelength.
• 8:23
SPEAKER_00: It's so important to me.
• 8:25
SPEAKER_02: I'm not name I'm not naming any names here, but there has been a almost instantaneous transformation of some people who would start the football season off of the World Cup.
• 8:38
SPEAKER_02: Oh, go team, yay, the sports ball, and then suddenly they're ragging on other teams because they've got interested in it.
• 8:46
SPEAKER_02: I'm just saying that happens, but anyway, yeah, definitely.
• 8:49
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I haven't seen that.
• 8:51
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it happens.
• 8:52
SPEAKER_02: Um, we have to watch it for us to see it.
• 8:56
SPEAKER_02: England uh beat Norway, and of course, our good friend Vidar is Norwegian, so we were both supporting different clubs, and I think America has fallen in love with Norway because of their roe um celebration and Erling Haaland, but uh the blank looks what the hell are you talking about?
• 9:18
  SPEAKER_02: That doesn't translate.
• 9:20
SPEAKER_02: This is why I love you guys so much.
• 9:22
SPEAKER_02: The consistency of your cultural approach is fantastic.
• 9:27
SPEAKER_02: It's like if there's not strings on it, if there isn't a motor on it, we're not talking about it.
• 9:32
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, or unless you can blow it up, you know?
• 9:35
SPEAKER_02: Yep, so anyway, back to uh uh Ernie Ball and um uh source audio.
• 9:44
  SPEAKER_02: Source audio.
• 9:45
  SPEAKER_02: Yep.
• 9:46
SPEAKER_02: I I think that is maybe their move uh into um uh you know a wider expanded product market.
• 9:55
SPEAKER_02: Maybe we're gonna see a load of Ernie Ball brand.
• 9:57
  SPEAKER_02: I mean, they've got a great name.
• 9:59
SPEAKER_02: They've got a great name and a great logo.
• 10:00
SPEAKER_02: Let's face it, Ernie Ball have a fantastically recognizable brand off the bat.
• 10:06
  SPEAKER_02: Oh, huge.
• 10:06
SPEAKER_01: Source audio do it somewhat, but Ernie Ball is global.
• 10:11
SPEAKER_01: Let me let me ask you guys this.
• 10:13
SPEAKER_01: So Ernie Ball to me feels a little bit uh more, I mean, everybody knows him.
• 10:20
SPEAKER_01: I would get I would say as far as brands in the guitar space go, they're one of the quote unquote mass market brands like Fender and Gibson and like very iconic.
• 10:31
SPEAKER_01: Very people really know them.
• 10:32
SPEAKER_01: And Source feels more specialized, so in some ways this feels a little bit like an odd couple pairing, right?
• 10:38
SPEAKER_01: I would expect an Ernie Ball dealer to carry uh a volume pedal, for instance, something that like everybody can use.
• 10:47
SPEAKER_01: Source makes pedals for at least I mean not across the board, they have some more simplified stuff, but I view them as a a little more of an advanced brand.
• 10:56
SPEAKER_01: Like I'd I would expect to go into a specialty retailer like Eastside Music in Nashville and see source pedals, you know.
• 11:01
SPEAKER_01: I wouldn't expect it necessarily in your classic uh you know combo music store that also sells horns, you know.
• 11:10
SPEAKER_01: But I would expect Ernie Ball to be in those places.
• 11:13
  SPEAKER_02: Would you expect it?
• 11:14
SPEAKER_02: This is new to me, so I'll see if I get it right.
• 11:16
SPEAKER_02: Would you expect it in a Buckeyes?
• 11:20
  SPEAKER_02: Uh oh, a Bucky's gas station?
• 11:22
  SPEAKER_02: Gas station?
• 11:23
SPEAKER_02: So I was sent a photo of one of those by one of our listeners.
• 11:28
SPEAKER_02: He's like, Europeans can't get their mind around this.
• 11:30
  SPEAKER_02: I was like, yeah, it's fine, it's just a big shop.
• 11:32
SPEAKER_02: He's like, no, this is a gas station.
• 11:34
  SPEAKER_02: That's a gas station.
• 11:35
  SPEAKER_02: What?
• 11:36
  SPEAKER_02: Uh why?
• 11:37
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, there's like a hundred pumps or something stupid.
• 11:39
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 11:39
SPEAKER_01: I'll admit I thought the gebucky's hype was a little little hypey.
• 11:43
SPEAKER_01: I was like, yeah, yeah, whatever.
• 11:44
SPEAKER_01: And then I went to the little excessive.
• 11:45
SPEAKER_01: I mean, and I was like, what?
• 11:47
SPEAKER_01: But the bathroom, the bathrooms are properly hyped.
• 11:53
  SPEAKER_01: That's what I will say.
• 11:54
SPEAKER_01: There is a full-time person in each bathroom who just does nothing but go stall to stall and clean all day.
• 12:00
SPEAKER_01: So it's spotless in there.
• 12:01
SPEAKER_01: And you get your own room.
• 12:02
SPEAKER_01: It's not a stall, you get your own room in there.
• 12:05
  SPEAKER_01: It's it's the criticized hotel room.
• 12:07
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's crazy.
• 12:08
SPEAKER_02: That is literally the exact opposite of every service station in England.
• 12:13
SPEAKER_02: It's the exact opposite of every service station that isn't Bucky's.
• 12:16
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 12:16
  SPEAKER_01: Okay.
• 12:17
  SPEAKER_00: Right.
• 12:18
SPEAKER_00: And who goes to a gas station to get a fantastic barbecue sandwich?
• 12:22
SPEAKER_00: You know, like it just doesn't happen.
• 12:24
  SPEAKER_00: But you do hear.
• 12:25
  SPEAKER_01: You do hear.
• 12:26
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 12:26
SPEAKER_01: I wish they would come more west.
• 12:28
SPEAKER_01: Come come over here, Bucky's.
• 12:30
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 12:30
SPEAKER_02: Maybe that's an opportunity to bring them to the UK.
• 12:34
SPEAKER_02: Problem is, is that they look bigger than most of our roads.
• 12:38
SPEAKER_02: Like you could probably fit all of our cars inside.
• 12:41
SPEAKER_01: Maybe you could like run a highway through a Bucky's.
• 12:44
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 12:47
SPEAKER_02: We do have some big uh truck stop type places, but anyway, I digress.
• 12:52
SPEAKER_01: So but no, I wouldn't expect a source audio pedal to be next to the uh you know pulled pork.
• 12:57
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 12:58
  SPEAKER_02: Right.
• 12:59
SPEAKER_02: There's a lot of US flag branded gear there.
• 13:02
SPEAKER_02: So, you know, I thought maybe maybe they sell all kinds of stuff.
• 13:06
  SPEAKER_02: I thought I saw a gun, but I'm not sure I did.
• 13:09
  SPEAKER_00: I don't think it's not he sells guns.
• 13:12
SPEAKER_00: They don't sell them, but there are definitely people walking around with them.
• 13:15
SPEAKER_00: Get your American flag and your gun, Bab.
• 13:18
  SPEAKER_00: You know, that's uh I don't think I can't tell whether you're joking or not, Brian.
• 13:22
SPEAKER_02: This actually sounds like America.
• 13:28
SPEAKER_02: Lick it to fix it.
• 13:30
SPEAKER_02: Do not lick your gun to fix it, no matter what you've heard me say on this show.
• 13:36
SPEAKER_02: No, no, don't do that.
• 13:37
SPEAKER_00: Licking a pistol is a bad move.
• 13:39
  SPEAKER_00: Only the barbecue sandwich.
• 13:41
SPEAKER_00: That's all you're allowed to fix that way.
• 13:43
SPEAKER_01: Hey, I forgot my knife.
• 13:44
SPEAKER_01: You think I could shoot a slice of this rib off of here?
• 13:48
SPEAKER_02: Now, would it be outrageous for me to suggest that Source Audio is not the most widely known brand outside of guitar enthusiasts?
• 14:01
  SPEAKER_02: I don't think so.
• 14:03
SPEAKER_02: It's not Boss or MXR or JHS Keeley Wamper.
• 14:09
SPEAKER_02: It probably sits in a slightly different bracket.
• 14:13
SPEAKER_02: Don't get me wrong, it's massive, and they have some really fantastic pedals and a great following.
• 14:20
SPEAKER_02: But I just feel that they're a brand that doesn't get talked about as much as some other brands do.
• 14:27
SPEAKER_01: And maybe that's why they felt uh to Ernie Ball like ripe for acquisition, right?
• 14:33
SPEAKER_01: Maybe they looked at it and thought, we can do a lot with this.
• 14:36
SPEAKER_00: That can actually be a positive thing, you know, because there's not a Johnny Source audio, you know.
• 14:42
SPEAKER_00: There is a Robert Keeley, not a Johnny Source audio.
• 14:45
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, not that I'm aware of.
• 14:46
SPEAKER_00: But in the same way, like if Robert Keeley was going to Ernie Ball and saying, I'd like to sell my company, that's a much harder thing to do because there's like Robert Keeley's Keeley electronics, in a sense, you know, so it makes it a little more difficult.
• 15:02
SPEAKER_01: Did did did Richard spin his chair around to be like an movie villain?
• 15:06
SPEAKER_00: Is that like he uh he gave us the one second, which probably means I've got to poop.
• 15:11
SPEAKER_00: I think is what that means.
• 15:13
  SPEAKER_00: Okay, okay.
• 15:14
  SPEAKER_00: I miss that.
• 15:15
  SPEAKER_00: I missed that.
• 15:15
  SPEAKER_00: All right.
• 15:16
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't I I think that was the uh be right back sort of sign, I got you.
• 15:20
SPEAKER_00: Which indicates an emergency on his end.
• 15:22
  SPEAKER_01: It's an emergency.
• 15:23
SPEAKER_01: See, this is uh what people don't get with other podcasts.
• 15:26
SPEAKER_01: We tell you the real deal.
• 15:27
SPEAKER_00: We tell you what's happening.
• 15:29
  SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
• 15:29
SPEAKER_00: He probably he probably went to go like, I don't know, take his dog out to be or something.
• 15:35
SPEAKER_00: I'm tired of this conversation.
• 15:36
SPEAKER_01: I think he heard us talking about all the barbecue and had to go get him a get him a snack real quick.
• 15:41
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, that's probably what it was.
• 15:43
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you want to need a good at least a good cheese stick.
• 15:46
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I gotta get my protein levels up.
• 15:48
SPEAKER_02: You're closer than you think.
• 15:49
SPEAKER_02: Uh let me catch my breath.
• 15:54
  SPEAKER_02: Mrs.
• 15:54
SPEAKER_02: Oliver is preparing her dinner and she said, I need basil, or as you Americans refer to it, basil.
• 16:03
SPEAKER_02: Uh go and pick me some leaves.
• 16:05
SPEAKER_02: Because only I know where the secret basil plant in my uh in my greenhouse is.
• 16:11
SPEAKER_02: So I just run around.
• 16:14
  SPEAKER_02: Chili peppers.
• 16:15
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, chili peppers.
• 16:17
SPEAKER_00: Why does this basil smell so much like a skunk?
• 16:20
  SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
• 16:21
  SPEAKER_01: No, no, no, no.
• 16:22
SPEAKER_01: I need some basil for my brownies I'm making.
• 16:26
  unknown: Right.
• 16:28
SPEAKER_01: What why is everybody calling me at this time?
• 16:32
SPEAKER_01: Well, because normally you're not chasing tone at this hour, usually.
• 16:35
  SPEAKER_01: That's true.
• 16:36
SPEAKER_00: You're doing this on a different day as we record this.
• 16:38
SPEAKER_02: We are, it's gonna really throw my week.
• 16:40
SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna think it's Tuesday all night tonight, and tomorrow I'm gonna think it's Wednesday.
• 16:47
SPEAKER_01: I regret to inform you this is gonna happen at least uh four times a year.
• 16:52
SPEAKER_01: So maybe more with my new need to intervene.
• 16:57
SPEAKER_00: So, what do you guys think about the new UFO drop?
• 17:00
  unknown: What?
• 17:01
  SPEAKER_01: I missed it.
• 17:01
SPEAKER_02: Oh, now we're into it, bro.
• 17:04
SPEAKER_02: Okay, yeah, let's talk about the real stuff.
• 17:06
  SPEAKER_02: I missed this.
• 17:07
  SPEAKER_02: Tell me more, please.
• 17:08
SPEAKER_02: Well, before we do, I just want to say a big thank you to a listener of this show who tipped me off about what has turned out to be one of my favorite UFO-related TV shows.
• 17:20
SPEAKER_02: It's a show from I think 2003 called Taken that was directed by Steven Spielberg, and it's a 10-parter.
• 17:28
  SPEAKER_02: It's really good.
• 17:28
SPEAKER_02: I have a particular set of skills.
• 17:31
SPEAKER_02: No, that's different than me.
• 17:32
  SPEAKER_02: It's a different Taken.
• 17:33
SPEAKER_02: You will find them both when you Google.
• 17:35
SPEAKER_02: But honestly, this Bri, I think you would dig this show.
• 17:39
SPEAKER_02: Um, but you have to watch it on YouTube because otherwise you have to pay for it.
• 17:42
SPEAKER_02: So uh, but yes, there have been a number of new videos by um the US government's department for um smoke and mirrors, and they've put them out on the interweb.
• 17:56
SPEAKER_02: I've sent you guys a link to the ABC Newscast.
• 18:00
SPEAKER_02: If you fast forward about a third of the way in, you'll see the only intro.
• 18:05
SPEAKER_02: There's like four really interesting clips.
• 18:07
  SPEAKER_02: All right.
• 18:08
SPEAKER_02: And some people have taken one, which is there is one that at first you go, what on earth is that?
• 18:15
SPEAKER_02: I can tell you now, it's probably a uh is it Timon and Pumbar in the Lion King?
• 18:23
SPEAKER_02: It's probably Timon and Pumba.
• 18:27
SPEAKER_02: It's probably a balloon of them, but it's kind of a wacky looking um UFO.
• 18:33
SPEAKER_02: It's like all different shapes.
• 18:36
SPEAKER_02: I'm scrubbing through right now.
• 18:37
SPEAKER_00: I've seen this, it looks like kind of like it has legs and stuff like that on it.
• 18:42
SPEAKER_02: No, this one this one looks like it was made out of duplo, which is Lego for two-year-olds.
• 18:49
SPEAKER_02: No idea what you're talking about.
• 18:51
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you're like, yeah, I know what Duplo is.
• 18:53
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 18:53
  SPEAKER_01: There we go.
• 18:54
  SPEAKER_01: I'm scrubbing through.
• 18:57
  SPEAKER_01: Wow.
• 18:58
SPEAKER_01: This is this is some oh yeah, I see the one you're talking about, Richard.
• 19:01
  SPEAKER_01: That is weird looking.
• 19:03
SPEAKER_01: It is weird looking, but could it also be a balloon?
• 19:06
  SPEAKER_01: A bunch of balloons.
• 19:08
  SPEAKER_01: I th there's what I think.
• 19:09
SPEAKER_01: I think the US government would know if it was.
• 19:12
  SPEAKER_01: Here's what I think.
• 19:14
SPEAKER_02: If the US government does have anything interesting, they're not releasing it.
• 19:20
SPEAKER_02: They're releasing all the stuff that they know has absolutely no chance of being validated in a kind of attempt to distract away from that.
• 19:31
SPEAKER_01: Doesn't mean that it's not legitimate, it just means they can't validate.
• 19:35
  SPEAKER_02: Yes, I agree.
• 19:36
SPEAKER_02: And there is one, and I I don't know whether it's on this ABC clip, but there's one that was taken from a space station, I think.
• 19:46
SPEAKER_00: Oh, I saw it, yeah.
• 19:47
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, and in low Earth orbit.
• 19:49
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's the one, and it's it looks like um an Imperial Star Destroyer almost from a distance.
• 19:57
SPEAKER_02: It's like a wedge, but it hasn't got the conning tower.
• 20:00
SPEAKER_02: That one really interested me because that was shown from two different angles, fairly high resolution, and there was definitely something there, and it didn't look like a visual aberration, which ironically is what my wife tells me every morning when I wake up.
• 20:17
SPEAKER_02: You're a visual aberration, you sir, are a visual aberration.
• 20:22
SPEAKER_02: I was I don't see it in this video.
• 20:26
SPEAKER_02: No, you you'd have to go through there's a supercut on YouTube of all of the videos, and there's another really interesting one where a UFO, which could be a bat, kind of flies upwards, and once it hits the top of the screen, something else flies downwards, and people have speculated that it's changing shape.
• 20:46
SPEAKER_02: What really interests me about this, and what interests me about the program taken, and it's a theme that Spielberg revisits in um disclosure day, is the idea of UFO naughts and the you know, the aliens being able to adapt to their environment and make sure they don't freak us out and like appear like regular people or animals or podcasters or podcasters from Martinsville.
• 21:20
SPEAKER_00: Did you see the um I don't know if this was wide news, but I did see something on my TikTok last night.
• 21:27
SPEAKER_00: I was watching my TikTok on your Tic Tac?
• 21:30
  SPEAKER_00: My Tic Tac.
• 21:31
SPEAKER_00: See, and it was basically uh a fellow that keeps going to I think it was different soccer football events, and they're saying like he it looks like he's able to have one eye that telescopes in to watch everything.
• 21:45
  SPEAKER_00: I don't know anything about this.
• 21:46
SPEAKER_00: Basically, you haven't seen this?
• 21:48
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like no, I haven't never seen one eyed people or I'll have to I'll have to scrub through my history yesterday and see uh scrub scrub screw or scrub out, bro.
• 21:59
  SPEAKER_00: Scrub through.
• 22:00
SPEAKER_00: Scrub through the history and see which one.
• 22:02
SPEAKER_00: Um not my my TikTok history is not that entertaining for most people.
• 22:07
SPEAKER_00: It's like religion and science and physics, and it's nothing.
• 22:11
SPEAKER_01: My TikTok history is not that interesting to me.
• 22:15
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 22:16
  SPEAKER_00: Mine's pretty good.
• 22:17
SPEAKER_00: I mean, if you like nerdy stuff.
• 22:19
  SPEAKER_01: Mine has not.
• 22:20
SPEAKER_01: I don't spend enough time for it to figure me out.
• 22:21
SPEAKER_01: It's like, nope, not interested.
• 22:25
SPEAKER_00: You have to you have to fix it.
• 22:27
  SPEAKER_01: I don't care to.
• 22:29
SPEAKER_02: My my like a slight aside, but hey, we're we're here already.
• 22:33
SPEAKER_02: Um my Spotify wrapped for a year is kind of like that.
• 22:37
SPEAKER_02: It just doesn't know me at all because the only times I use Spotify is to listen to links other people have sent me or stuff I can't find on Apple Music.
• 22:46
SPEAKER_02: So it currently thinks that my favorite artists are some weird stuff that I really do not listen to.
• 22:51
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I I only use Spotify for listening to podcasts, so its music thing is really confused with me as well.
• 22:58
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, your favorite music is the Chasing Tone theme tune.
• 23:02
SPEAKER_02: Somebody noticed it changed the other day, Brian's.
• 23:06
  SPEAKER_02: Oh, really?
• 23:06
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, they did, yeah.
• 23:08
  SPEAKER_02: Really?
• 23:09
  SPEAKER_02: I like I I'll find their uh exactly.
• 23:12
SPEAKER_00: I changed that several weeks ago and no one said nothing.
• 23:15
SPEAKER_02: Or someone went, what's going on with the theme tune?
• 23:18
SPEAKER_02: Has Brian suddenly learned how to shred?
• 23:20
SPEAKER_02: I was like, ha ha maybe.
• 23:23
  SPEAKER_02: Interesting.
• 23:24
  SPEAKER_00: Maybe someone noticed that.
• 23:26
SPEAKER_01: Well when when we had to do a Brianless episode here, like I don't know, was it like a two months ago, something like that?
• 23:35
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, something like that.
• 23:36
SPEAKER_01: Uh I used the the tune that we've been using for Patreon, the low-tuned jammy thing that I did.
• 23:43
SPEAKER_01: And uh I got people knew right away.
• 23:47
SPEAKER_01: They were like, I got like, I don't know, four or five different messages like, you made that, didn't you?
• 23:52
  SPEAKER_01: I was like, yeah.
• 23:54
SPEAKER_02: Clue number one, my stomach started to wobble when I heard the music.
• 23:59
  SPEAKER_02: Uh-huh.
• 24:00
SPEAKER_02: Uh yeah, so these UFO drops are interesting, but I will say I I think the powers that be, I don't want to make this a political thing, but I think the powers that be are trying to pull the wool over our eyes here and kind of be like, here's some stuff, but we're not going to show you the juicy stuff.
• 24:18
  SPEAKER_02: They wouldn't do that.
• 24:20
SPEAKER_02: I have seen the cover of being an honest with us.
• 24:22
SPEAKER_02: I've seen the cover of a new book that's coming out, and I don't want to talk too much about this book, but on the cover of the book, there is a picture of a large football field-sized triangular UFO floating above, I believe, the White House.
• 24:38
SPEAKER_02: It's hard to tell these days.
• 24:39
SPEAKER_02: Uh and that was in a movie, I think.
• 24:42
SPEAKER_02: It was also in a movie.
• 24:43
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 24:44
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but Will Smith.
• 24:46
SPEAKER_02: This is this is a similar sort of vibe.
• 24:49
SPEAKER_02: The person that has written this book knows a lot about this subject.
• 24:54
SPEAKER_02: And if I put two and two together and think there is footage of this super large triangular UFO that the US government has, but it dare leak out.
• 25:04
  SPEAKER_02: That's what I want.
• 25:05
  SPEAKER_02: That's the real juice.
• 25:07
  SPEAKER_02: That's that's disclosure.
• 25:08
SPEAKER_01: The person who wrote this book should definitely come on this podcast.
• 25:12
SPEAKER_02: They absolutely 100% should come on this podcast, but you know what?
• 25:16
  SPEAKER_02: They're elusive.
• 25:18
  SPEAKER_01: Elusive, yep.
• 25:19
SPEAKER_01: They have a book that they're releasing, and more people should know about it.
• 25:22
  SPEAKER_01: And guess what?
• 25:23
SPEAKER_01: Despite all odds, people listen to this podcast.
• 25:27
  SPEAKER_02: So, just saying.
• 25:29
SPEAKER_02: It's the world's greatest nonsense show ever.
• 25:32
SPEAKER_00: Um, no, that's that needs to go in the title.
• 25:36
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but it's a nonsense show.
• 25:38
  SPEAKER_01: Yes.
• 25:39
SPEAKER_01: People know what they're getting.
• 25:41
SPEAKER_01: Is that a category talk?
• 25:42
  SPEAKER_01: Maximum nonsense.
• 25:43
SPEAKER_01: Is that a category not to talk about it?
• 25:45
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I don't think there is a buzz sprout category for complete nonsense.
• 25:50
  SPEAKER_02: Utter bullshine.
• 25:51
SPEAKER_02: Hey, you know, it's so hard, it is difficult to play guitar.
• 25:56
SPEAKER_02: Uh, do you guys ever get that?
• 25:58
SPEAKER_02: Like, I know you've all got your aircom, but are there ever times when maybe your aircon isn't working and you go to play guitar and you're like, even playing chords is making me sweat.
• 26:07
  SPEAKER_02: What's going on here?
• 26:08
SPEAKER_00: I mean, usually the sweat is like a lubrication.
• 26:10
SPEAKER_00: Usually that makes you play guards.
• 26:11
SPEAKER_02: RV didn't have that problem.
• 26:13
SPEAKER_02: He's sweating all over everything.
• 26:14
SPEAKER_02: This is no word of a lie, Bri, but you actually really changed my mind about my sloppy eating habits.
• 26:22
SPEAKER_02: No, about about the guitar and and the physics of the guitar.
• 26:26
SPEAKER_02: Because I used to be a clean freak when it came to fingering my fretboard.
• 26:33
SPEAKER_02: Like I would wash my hands before or every time.
• 26:36
  SPEAKER_02: It's good for yourself.
• 26:37
  SPEAKER_02: All right.
• 26:37
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 26:38
SPEAKER_02: But if I'm in about a play a session, and I don't cut garlic up with my hands anymore.
• 26:43
SPEAKER_02: Because have you ever smelt a guitar string after you've cut garlic?
• 26:47
  SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, I can't imagine.
• 26:49
  SPEAKER_02: It's vile.
• 26:50
SPEAKER_01: Plus, it's just easier to do with the little garlic squishing tool, you know.
• 26:54
SPEAKER_02: I use I use the proprietary Oliver rattle it around in a jar method.
• 26:58
SPEAKER_00: I was gonna say, why don't you just use uh rubber gloves?
• 27:01
  SPEAKER_00: You know, latex gloves.
• 27:03
SPEAKER_02: Uh because they're being used for something else.
• 27:08
SPEAKER_00: I mean, I I like to buy them in the big box, you know what I'm saying?
• 27:12
SPEAKER_00: So yeah, I mean, but they're really good.
• 27:15
SPEAKER_01: Like for I wondered why you had like a Dexter style kill room situation going on.
• 27:19
SPEAKER_01: This is not making more sense.
• 27:21
  SPEAKER_02: You are correct.
• 27:21
SPEAKER_02: Rubber gloves or the right tools can both help.
• 27:24
SPEAKER_02: And if neither are available, somebody else will help.
• 27:27
SPEAKER_02: But you are right, having a little bit of grease on your fingers, a little bit of sweat sometimes, can actually help you play.
• 27:35
SPEAKER_02: It's counterintuitive to everything like hygiene.
• 27:40
SPEAKER_00: That's the whole reason for the fingeries product.
• 27:44
SPEAKER_00: Not sweating, not a problem.
• 27:45
  SPEAKER_00: Here's some fingers.
• 27:46
  SPEAKER_00: Here's some sweat.
• 27:47
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 27:48
  SPEAKER_02: Hold on, hold on.
• 27:49
  SPEAKER_02: Wait a minute.
• 27:50
SPEAKER_02: There's a company that sells a lubricant for your fingers to play.
• 27:55
SPEAKER_00: It has been for like 30 years, 40 years.
• 27:58
SPEAKER_00: You've never heard of fingers?
• 28:00
  SPEAKER_00: Never heard of fingers.
• 28:01
SPEAKER_00: Look at fingerees uh guitar.
• 28:04
SPEAKER_00: Just type that in and you'll immediately see it.
• 28:07
SPEAKER_01: Our screen conditioner was not designed with that in mind, but it has a similar effect.
• 28:12
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's right.
• 28:13
SPEAKER_00: String coys, yeah, you guys make stuff, yeah.
• 28:15
SPEAKER_01: It's a different, it's different than the fingers as far as like how it feels, and and but it's a similar similar thing at the end of the day.
• 28:21
  SPEAKER_00: But I don't know.
• 28:22
SPEAKER_00: Fingers is probably just like, here's some WD 40 with a guitar picture on it.
• 28:26
  SPEAKER_01: That's a good question.
• 28:27
  SPEAKER_01: I actually don't know what's in it.
• 28:28
SPEAKER_01: Ours is has got cranberries in it.
• 28:30
  SPEAKER_01: I know that much.
• 28:32
SPEAKER_02: But okay, so you cranberry jelly.
• 28:35
SPEAKER_02: Just to be clear though, to listen to it.
• 28:36
SPEAKER_00: Spray it on a button's good too.
• 28:38
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 28:38
SPEAKER_02: You you spray this on your guitar, not on your fingers.
• 28:41
  SPEAKER_02: On the strings.
• 28:44
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 28:44
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 28:45
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 28:45
SPEAKER_02: What I'm saying is it's good to r retain a little bit on your fingers, not necessarily covered.
• 28:51
SPEAKER_00: Oh wow, I was wrong.
• 28:53
SPEAKER_00: So the fingers is introduced in 1963.
• 28:56
  SPEAKER_02: Wow.
• 28:57
  SPEAKER_02: Vintage.
• 28:58
  SPEAKER_02: 63 years.
• 29:00
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 29:01
SPEAKER_02: Dude, it could be anything in there.
• 29:03
SPEAKER_02: Like you could literally package rancid butter and and flavor it with some, I don't know, flavonoids.
• 29:12
SPEAKER_01: Speaking of the 1960s, fellas, I don't know if you guys have noticed a change in my background at all.
• 29:19
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I I have noticed there's a new guitar behind you.
• 29:23
SPEAKER_02: Uh there's a kind of black lespool in the corner there.
• 29:27
SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's been that's uh that's the Grez, that's been there for a minute, but one that's very dirty.
• 29:32
  SPEAKER_00: There's a blonde one behind you.
• 29:34
SPEAKER_00: I can see it now.
• 29:35
  SPEAKER_01: Yep.
• 29:35
  SPEAKER_00: Okay.
• 29:36
SPEAKER_00: So for what it's worth, not to change the subject, but it's basically mineral oil.
• 29:40
SPEAKER_00: It's it stands out with mineral oil.
• 29:42
  SPEAKER_00: It's the stuff it's interesting.
• 29:44
  SPEAKER_00: It's dirty mineral oil.
• 29:45
SPEAKER_00: It's not at least according to the Google Gemini.
• 29:49
SPEAKER_01: So finger so mineral oil is usually used on fretboards, not like specific for strings.
• 29:55
  SPEAKER_01: That's interesting.
• 29:57
  SPEAKER_00: I mean, that's that's what it is.
• 29:58
  SPEAKER_00: It doesn't surprise me.
• 29:59
SPEAKER_01: It'd be it's there's nothing wrong with putting it on strings.
• 30:03
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 30:05
  SPEAKER_00: All right, anyway.
• 30:06
  SPEAKER_00: It's definitely slicker, right?
• 30:07
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 30:08
  SPEAKER_01: Earl slicker.
• 30:10
  SPEAKER_02: Oh, hello.
• 30:12
SPEAKER_02: But I'm tempted to send Earl Slick a uh a friend request.
• 30:16
SPEAKER_00: It keeps popping up on my So question.
• 30:18
SPEAKER_00: What would happen if you took your strings, a set of strings, and uh ran them through mineral oil and then packaged them that way?
• 30:27
SPEAKER_01: They'd be oily when you took them out, but they would uh they would stay nice and preserved for sure.
• 30:33
SPEAKER_01: Wouldn't mess them up, no?
• 30:34
SPEAKER_00: That that might be a new a new thing, like pre-lubricated strings.
• 30:38
SPEAKER_01: It will be like messy when you go to string it on your guitar, but it's a good thing.
• 30:42
SPEAKER_00: Well, I mean, I'm not saying like dump it like just a light thin coat, you know, maybe a machine that wrap that wipes it off, and then whenever you get it out, it's nice and slick and ready to play.
• 30:52
SPEAKER_01: I think it's better if the let the users decide if they want to do that or not.
• 30:56
SPEAKER_00: So not an option then.
• 30:57
  SPEAKER_00: Okay, I mean it's an option.
• 30:59
SPEAKER_01: Oh no, it's an option.
• 31:00
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we could do it.
• 31:01
SPEAKER_01: It's the technology is available, but I don't think we're gonna do that.
• 31:05
  SPEAKER_01: Not a desire.
• 31:06
SPEAKER_00: Okay, pre pre-sweated strings, not a strong.
• 31:08
SPEAKER_01: Most people don't want pre-sweated strings, yeah.
• 31:10
  SPEAKER_00: Okay, all right.
• 31:11
SPEAKER_00: I mean, I'm just trying to help, you know, I'll trying to help your little company.
• 31:16
SPEAKER_01: It is a little company.
• 31:17
  SPEAKER_01: I appreciate it.
• 31:19
  SPEAKER_01: Hold on, wait.
• 31:19
SPEAKER_00: I saw the machines you guys have.
• 31:21
SPEAKER_00: That is not a little company.
• 31:22
  SPEAKER_02: Let's just let's just dial back.
• 31:24
SPEAKER_02: It's a little company when compared to Boeing or Apple.
• 31:28
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, exactly.
• 31:29
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Stringjoy is the biggest company that you've not heard of, listeners.
• 31:34
SPEAKER_02: Trust me, they make everything now.
• 31:36
SPEAKER_02: See those little bits in your guitar?
• 31:38
  SPEAKER_02: They're made by Stringjoy.
• 31:40
SPEAKER_01: I I I'm really, really happy with how the factory is currently situated.
• 31:45
SPEAKER_01: A couple months ago, it was quite scary.
• 31:49
  SPEAKER_01: It was quite terrifying.
• 31:51
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, well, that's every morning to me.
• 31:53
SPEAKER_02: Look, you you you're trying to hint at the guitar that you've got hanging on your wall that Brian hasn't noticed yet, but look.
• 32:00
SPEAKER_02: Oh, I have you guys minimized.
• 32:01
  SPEAKER_02: I I'm not looking at it.
• 32:02
SPEAKER_02: Oh, so how how rude.
• 32:04
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, very rude.
• 32:06
  SPEAKER_02: Maximize us.
• 32:06
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, maximize.
• 32:08
SPEAKER_02: In fact, set us as your screensaver.
• 32:11
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's I'm right on that.
• 32:14
SPEAKER_00: But today I'm on my laptop as well, so you're like still.
• 32:16
SPEAKER_01: Well, let's let's make this less subtle.
• 32:18
SPEAKER_01: You know, I know it's a good it's an audio medium, but you can describe what's happening.
• 32:21
  SPEAKER_00: Sure.
• 32:22
SPEAKER_00: So Blake is turning around, he's walking to his wall, he's picking some form of guitar app.
• 32:27
  SPEAKER_00: It's a vintage guitar.
• 32:28
  SPEAKER_02: He's just dropped it.
• 32:29
  SPEAKER_02: It's smashed into pieces.
• 32:31
  SPEAKER_02: No, it hasn't.
• 32:32
  SPEAKER_01: No, it hasn't, Will.
• 32:33
  SPEAKER_01: Your underroad guitars.
• 32:35
SPEAKER_01: It's still safe and sound.
• 32:37
  SPEAKER_00: It's a sunburst, it looks like a 335.
• 32:39
  SPEAKER_00: Is it a 335?
• 32:40
  SPEAKER_00: It is a Gibson 45.
• 32:43
  SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's 345.
• 32:44
  SPEAKER_00: Oh.
• 32:44
SPEAKER_00: Which the only difference is they do the stereo thing.
• 32:47
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 32:47
  SPEAKER_00: It's 10 banners, what that is.
• 32:49
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 32:49
SPEAKER_01: So we got a 1962 Gibson ES345 that someone converted from stereo to mono.
• 32:56
  SPEAKER_01: So it's basically a 335.
• 32:57
  SPEAKER_02: Brian's just fainted.
• 32:59
SPEAKER_00: Uh listeners, if if you hear any noises.
• 33:01
  SPEAKER_00: It's like real.
• 33:02
SPEAKER_00: So I have I have the epiphone that's like a you know, mimicked version of that, so to speak.
• 33:07
SPEAKER_00: Basically, that's the real deal.
• 33:08
SPEAKER_01: Yes, this is the real deal.
• 33:10
SPEAKER_01: Uh it's got actual, genuine real deal PAFs in it.
• 33:16
  SPEAKER_01: Nice.
• 33:17
SPEAKER_01: And uh I get to live with this thing for a little bit, do some sonic experimentation, and I gotta take it back to my buddy Will at Thunder Road Play.
• 33:25
SPEAKER_01: You know what the first thing you want to do is, don't you?
• 33:26
SPEAKER_00: Do you have to like do you have to really?
• 33:28
SPEAKER_00: I they like find half.
• 33:31
SPEAKER_01: I technically told him I would, but like, what if I didn't?
• 33:34
  SPEAKER_00: Right.
• 33:34
SPEAKER_00: What if you just forgot?
• 33:35
SPEAKER_01: What's the re what's the retail on it?
• 33:37
  SPEAKER_01: Come on.
• 33:39
  SPEAKER_01: About 25 grand.
• 33:41
SPEAKER_00: He's definitely just gonna leave that with you forever.
• 33:44
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he's like he sounds like a really nice guy.
• 33:46
  SPEAKER_00: What'd I do with that 25 grand?
• 33:48
  SPEAKER_00: I don't remember.
• 33:49
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I lost it.
• 33:52
SPEAKER_02: So so the first things you should do, uh, you should definitely grease up those strings.
• 33:56
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so you're gonna like loop.
• 33:58
SPEAKER_01: The stick of butter and just roll it across the fretboard there.
• 34:01
SPEAKER_01: Just Neil Sean, those things, get the salami out and like wipe my hands in it.
• 34:05
SPEAKER_01: Wait a minute, do what?
• 34:07
SPEAKER_01: Neil Sean uh from Journey famously has a tray of salami.
• 34:11
SPEAKER_01: He puts it next to like where he's gonna like walk out on stage and wipes his hands in it.
• 34:18
SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, that's a thing he does.
• 34:24
SPEAKER_00: Has he heard of fingers before?
• 34:27
SPEAKER_01: I I'm sure he has, but as a man who has uh probably many of those.
• 34:32
  SPEAKER_01: Don't drop it.
• 34:33
  SPEAKER_02: Don't drop it.
• 34:34
  SPEAKER_02: Oh, there's 15 grand.
• 34:36
SPEAKER_00: I think Blake thinks he can hear we can hear his not when you turned away from the microphone and about 10 feet away, but it's fine.
• 34:44
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 34:44
SPEAKER_01: I was trying to raise my voice to compensate, but I guess I didn't do it good enough.
• 34:48
SPEAKER_00: As a man that that has what?
• 34:50
SPEAKER_00: Mini bottles of string joined?
• 34:52
SPEAKER_01: Probably a lot of guitars like the one I was hanging on the wall.
• 34:55
SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm sure he has heard of fingers before.
• 34:59
  SPEAKER_00: Why salami?
• 35:00
  SPEAKER_00: What's what's I mean, wouldn't that be bad for your strings?
• 35:04
SPEAKER_01: This is the most unhinged episode.
• 35:06
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 35:06
SPEAKER_01: I've told this story before because I can't remember who told it to me.
• 35:10
SPEAKER_01: Somebody told me this, and then I was like, no way.
• 35:14
SPEAKER_01: And then they they sent a photo that was from somebody in his camp, and it was a tray of salami sitting like on top of an amplifier.
• 35:22
SPEAKER_00: Do you think it sounds better than pepperoni?
• 35:26
SPEAKER_01: Salami is kind of like the fat, I feel like comes off a salami slice easier than it does a pepperoni slice, so maybe it does.
• 35:35
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 35:35
SPEAKER_00: So maybe a little different fats and salami, okay.
• 35:38
SPEAKER_00: Well, I think it's the same fat spice.
• 35:39
SPEAKER_01: The consistency is a little different.
• 35:41
  SPEAKER_00: Okay.
• 35:42
  SPEAKER_00: Less spice for sure.
• 35:43
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 35:44
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, definitely less spice.
• 35:46
  SPEAKER_01: Then maybe that's it.
• 35:47
SPEAKER_01: You don't want this the the hot peppers in your fretboard.
• 35:49
SPEAKER_00: That's true, could because if you wipe your eyes, now your eyes are.
• 35:53
SPEAKER_02: You are missing a really good trick here.
• 35:55
SPEAKER_02: So you want something that's sausage-y, that isn't too pungent, that has a great fat content.
• 36:03
  SPEAKER_02: Okay.
• 36:03
SPEAKER_02: Black pudding all day long.
• 36:05
  SPEAKER_02: Oh, black pudding.
• 36:06
  SPEAKER_02: That's what you need.
• 36:08
SPEAKER_02: Congealed pig blood and fat.
• 36:11
SPEAKER_02: That's the basic formula, Bri for my new invention, which is the Walliver Wall of Wyland.
• 36:20
SPEAKER_02: How do we how do we get that together?
• 36:22
  SPEAKER_02: Uh grease stick.
• 36:24
  SPEAKER_02: Guitar grease stick.
• 36:25
  SPEAKER_02: It's like, you know, like a roll-on deodorant.
• 36:28
SPEAKER_02: It's like a big bit of soap that just comes up and you use.
• 36:31
SPEAKER_02: We can make that for a guitar, so you could just use it to um lube your guitar.
• 36:38
SPEAKER_02: Brian has just made a funny face, and I think that's the face of oh shit, I'm late.
• 36:45
SPEAKER_00: That is exactly what that face is.
• 36:48
SPEAKER_00: That is exactly the face.
• 36:49
SPEAKER_01: We are doing a little different episode today, uh, because of we're recording on a different day.
• 36:55
SPEAKER_01: We're under uh time you know constraints because we're doing it on a different day.
• 37:00
SPEAKER_01: And uh I'm sorry, folks, but don't let that stop you from getting your full chasing tone experience like our wonderful executive producers get, because they help us out.
• 37:13
SPEAKER_01: They subscribe to Patreon, and therefore Richard will now read their names out on every episode because he's that guy.
• 37:20
  SPEAKER_02: Uh I I am.
• 37:22
SPEAKER_02: Uh before we go, I do want to just say rest in peace, Bonnie Tyler, who passed away the other day.
• 37:27
  SPEAKER_02: Wow, I didn't know that.
• 37:28
  SPEAKER_00: I didn't either.
• 37:29
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, uh like for me, she was one of the standout voices of a generation because she had that thing with her throat where it actually made her voice go raspy, and she absolutely nailed it.
• 37:43
SPEAKER_02: And I did not know this.
• 37:45
SPEAKER_02: The song The Best, which was made famous by Tina Turner, was originally written, I think, for Bonnie Tyler, but she certainly sang it first, and her version of it is brilliant.
• 37:56
SPEAKER_01: So, anyway, huge fan of her in in this house.
• 37:59
  SPEAKER_01: Yes, we're we're I did not I did not see that.
• 38:02
SPEAKER_02: Rest in peace, rest in peace for sure.
• 38:04
SPEAKER_02: So, anyhow, um I'm gonna sanitize it by just saying something else quickly.
• 38:10
SPEAKER_02: Uh, brand new high watt amplifiers out.
• 38:14
  SPEAKER_02: Good, right.
• 38:14
SPEAKER_02: That means I'm not being weird.
• 38:17
  SPEAKER_02: Actually, no, it doesn't.
• 38:18
SPEAKER_02: It means I am being weird.
• 38:20
SPEAKER_02: I quite like the look of the 33, just saying.
• 38:22
  SPEAKER_02: Right.
• 38:22

SPEAKER_02: Now, this says Dragon from Wamp Learning.
• 39:34
SPEAKER_02: I think he wants to be known as Bud Coles' ponytail, but I think that might be like libelous.
• 39:39
  SPEAKER_02: So I don't know.
• 39:41
SPEAKER_02: Um DJ Farns, Kyle Viana, Robert Hahn, John Hill, Nick Cole, Kyle Ray, Your Face, Dave Evangelista, the Guitar Dads podcast, Roxy Gwynn, Harrick, Harrick Dow, Derek Howe, Churchill, Churchill from Cam Girls Plus, Ross Edwards, William Price, William It Was Nothing.
• 40:01
SPEAKER_02: And can I just say I read those out without my glasses on?
• 40:05
SPEAKER_02: So the fact that Blake made me read them out was particularly mean of him because he could see that I had no glasses.
• 40:12
SPEAKER_02: But yes, I assumed it was his eyes were a stylistic choice.
• 40:15
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 40:15
SPEAKER_01: I make no stylistic choices.
• 40:17
SPEAKER_01: It's like putting a distortion pedal on your vision.
• 40:20
  SPEAKER_01: But this hi Wat33.
