RAGBRAI Day 2: Thin Line Ride Through Iowa | Des Moines News
RAGBRAI’s 53rd ride rolls into town with a shorter, sweatier route—391 miles total, starting July 19th and ending July 25th. Day 2, Monday, July 20th, takes cyclists from Harlan to Guthrie Center (56.5 miles, 3,572 feet of climbing) through Exira and Elk Horn, with a special Thin Line Appreciation Day salute to first responders and military. Guthrie Center, which hosted RAGBRAI back in ’74 and ’83, welcomes riders with a scenic American flag water tower and a handy pit stop at Dowd Drug for sunscreen and hydration.
