- 0:04Speaker 1: Literally turning the page on the rundown. And here we
- 0:06Speaker 1: go into the third and final hour at least for
- 0:09Speaker 1: the today, for to day of the Morning Show with
- 0:11Speaker 1: Preston Scott Show fifty four to nineteen. He's ose, I'm
- 0:14Speaker 1: Preston and this is us Congresswoman Cat Camic.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Hi, Cat, good morning, how are you.
- 0:20Speaker 1: I'm terrific. You have got to be about like really ready.
- 0:26Speaker 2: I am so pregnant. That's the only way to explain it.
- 0:30Speaker 2: And all of the ladies out there will know exactly
- 0:33Speaker 2: what I mean when I say I am so pregnant,
- 0:36Speaker 2: meaning you can't walk, you can't move, you waddle, you
- 0:40Speaker 2: kind of roll around like a roly poly is. It's
- 0:44Speaker 2: the phase.
- 0:45Speaker 1: And let's just throw into it one hundred degree temperatures,
- 0:48Speaker 1: heat indexes of one hundred and ten. Let's just make
- 0:51Speaker 1: it miserable.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Oh, I know. We really did the trifecta here of
- 0:59Speaker 2: insanely hot weather, very very uber pregnant, and managing to
- 1:05Speaker 2: trigger every single liberal in all at the same time.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Let's talk about that. The last time we visited, we
- 1:15Speaker 1: discussed the absurdity that you, your family, your staff had
- 1:20Speaker 1: been uh exposed to because you made some comments about
- 1:25Speaker 1: a pregnancy that you were not able to keep back
- 1:29Speaker 1: a year better a year or so ago. But last
- 1:33Speaker 1: week you introduced a piece of legislation. Let's tell let's
- 1:37Speaker 1: tell people about that.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Yeah, you know. And and as we're having this conversation,
- 1:42Speaker 2: I look out my window and I see, you know,
- 1:44Speaker 2: a deputy right outside my window. That's that's our new normal, unfortunately,
- 1:50Speaker 2: because of the threat environment that we we now operate
- 1:55Speaker 2: in and live within. Uh you know. It was the
- 1:59Speaker 2: end of June we had a profile done on us
- 2:03Speaker 2: by the Wall Street Journal detailing an ectopic pregnancy that
- 2:08Speaker 2: I had experienced actually ended up being the rarest and
- 2:11Speaker 2: most dangerous type of ectopic pregnancy last year, which for
- 2:16Speaker 2: anybody who is not aware, it is not a viable pregnancy.
- 2:19Speaker 2: They've never been viable, and they typically end up rupturing
- 2:24Speaker 2: and causing internal bleeding to the point that it can
- 2:26Speaker 2: kill the mother. And so it's classified as a life
- 2:32Speaker 2: threatening situation. And for women who have ever experienced this,
- 2:37Speaker 2: which there's about one in twenty five women experience an
- 2:40Speaker 2: ectopic and of course one in four women will experience
- 2:43Speaker 2: a miscarriage in their lifetime. Both require treatment and the
- 2:49Speaker 2: thing that is really scary is we learned firsthand how
- 2:53Speaker 2: the misinformation and the politicization of the issue can really
- 3:00Speaker 2: scared doctors. And in my case, this was about a
- 3:03Speaker 2: month after Florida's heartbeat bill passed, And what ended up
- 3:08Speaker 2: happening was the pro abortion lobby had spent millions of
- 3:11Speaker 2: dollars running ads, even going so far as to geo fence,
- 3:16Speaker 2: meaning they literally would target hospitals and they would push
- 3:20Speaker 2: ads to people's cell phones that were in these these
- 3:25Speaker 2: areas saying that if they treated women who were undergoing
- 3:31Speaker 2: a miscarriage or experiencing an a topic pregnancy, that those
- 3:34Speaker 2: doctors or those nurses would lose their license and go
- 3:37Speaker 2: to jail. And so we experienced firsthand how that caused
- 3:43Speaker 2: a lot of fear and confusion when I showed up
- 3:46Speaker 2: at the er, you know, late one night, and I
- 3:51Speaker 2: ended up having to read the law to the doctors
- 3:53Speaker 2: in the room and making my case. And it's really
- 3:57Speaker 2: just crazy because it then turned into people saying, oh
- 4:00Speaker 2: my gosh, you had an abortion. By the way, not
- 4:03Speaker 2: a single professional medical association has ever classified treatment for
- 4:07Speaker 2: miscarriage or topics as an abortion. That's just a lie
- 4:10Speaker 2: that the left likes to perpetuate, and then they said
- 4:14Speaker 2: things like I voted for the bill, also highlighting that
- 4:17Speaker 2: there's a real problem with literacy and CYMC understanding in
- 4:20Speaker 2: this country. And it turned into something really nasty where
- 4:25Speaker 2: my family, my team, myself, my unborn child, you know,
- 4:29Speaker 2: we were all the subject of a lot of death
- 4:31Speaker 2: threats and still are. And again, this piece was intended
- 4:36Speaker 2: to highlight the real lack of access and resource and
- 4:40Speaker 2: the fact that it's difficult to have a conversation about
- 4:43Speaker 2: healthcare in this country and without it turning political and
- 4:47Speaker 2: low and behold the left prove my point.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Mainstream media never lets truth stand in the way of
- 4:59Speaker 1: a story, and sadly there are enough people that read, watch,
- 5:04Speaker 1: and follow that nonsense that we just have a bunch
- 5:07Speaker 1: of misinformed folks. And as a result. Congresswoman kat Camick
- 5:11Speaker 1: joins us this morning. She represents Florida's third congressional district
- 5:15Speaker 1: and has introduced the Truth in Women's Healthcare Act. What
- 5:18Speaker 1: does it do?
- 5:19Speaker 2: Kat? So, this really came out of our experience, but
- 5:24Speaker 2: also wanting to set the stage for what's to come
- 5:28Speaker 2: down the road, which is an effort to tackle real
- 5:32Speaker 2: challenges in our sick care system, because I think collectively
- 5:37Speaker 2: we can all agree we don't have healthcare in this country.
- 5:39Speaker 2: We have sick care, and it's pretty depressing that you
- 5:42Speaker 2: have health insurance companies making health care decisions for folks.
- 5:47Speaker 2: So we started out with this really setting the stage
- 5:51Speaker 2: for never allowing someone to go through what I went through.
- 5:56Speaker 2: You have heard these stories where, like I did, I
- 6:02Speaker 2: was sitting there, you know, eminently about to bleed out,
- 6:06Speaker 2: and people are saying, well, you know, we're not really
- 6:09Speaker 2: sure if we can, and I'm like, I just read
- 6:12Speaker 2: you the law, and they're like, yeah, but you know
- 6:14Speaker 2: that we keep getting all these advertisements and there's got
- 6:16Speaker 2: to be some truth to that. You know. Little did
- 6:18Speaker 2: they know or could we know at that time, but
- 6:21Speaker 2: the state of Florida actually had to sue these groups
- 6:24Speaker 2: in order for them to take it down. And when
- 6:26Speaker 2: you're living in this this era of just mass overload,
- 6:31Speaker 2: people say anything and it gets taken as truth. You know,
- 6:34Speaker 2: it's kind of like, oh, I saw it on Facebook,
- 6:37Speaker 2: so therefore it has to be true. I can't touch
- 6:39Speaker 2: how scary that is. And then you look at the
- 6:42Speaker 2: broader healthcare space and you know, people are absolutely completely
- 6:49Speaker 2: taken down rabbit holes and craziness. So the Truth in
- 6:52Speaker 2: Women's Healthcare Act was really just making it very clear
- 6:55Speaker 2: that there is a fundamental difference between an elective abortion
- 7:00Speaker 2: where someone says, you know, a woman says I just
- 7:02Speaker 2: don't want to have a kid, and it is a
- 7:04Speaker 2: viable pregnancy, and they terminate the life of their child.
- 7:09Speaker 2: That is something that I am fundamentally against, and I
- 7:13Speaker 2: know so many people who are right, and we're going
- 7:16Speaker 2: to continue that fight for all life because I believe
- 7:20Speaker 2: all life has value. When you have a situation of
- 7:23Speaker 2: a miscarriage or an ectopic pregnancy, those are not viable pregnancies.
- 7:28Speaker 2: They never have been, they never will be. And again,
- 7:31Speaker 2: if you're pro life, you're going to fight for the
- 7:33Speaker 2: life of the mother. And so really making clear that
- 7:37Speaker 2: the abortion lobby can no longer use women as ponds
- 7:42Speaker 2: in conflating what treatment is for those versus elective abortions.
- 7:48Speaker 2: That's what this resolution does, and it will set the
- 7:50Speaker 2: stage for us to start tackling this with insurance companies
- 7:55Speaker 2: and then getting resources to women in particularly rural and
- 7:58Speaker 2: underserved areas. The entire time I was going through this,
- 8:01Speaker 2: I kept saying to my husband, What happens to women
- 8:04Speaker 2: who don't have a doctor, What happens to the women
- 8:07Speaker 2: who don't have a car. You know, it was really
- 8:10Speaker 2: really scary for me, and I feel really lucky because
- 8:14Speaker 2: I've got a car and a husband and I could
- 8:17Speaker 2: pick up the phone and call my doctor. Not everybody's
- 8:20Speaker 2: in that situation, and so we need to make sure
- 8:22Speaker 2: that we're addressing the real gaps and shortfalls in our system.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Kat If I may just we got about a minute
- 8:29Speaker 1: in this segment, but let me take it a step further.
- 8:32Speaker 1: What happens to the woman who's not a member of Congress,
- 8:35Speaker 1: who oh, by the way, knows what the law in
- 8:37Speaker 1: her state is.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, that's what's so crazy. So we actually
- 8:44Speaker 2: started reaching out to the different medical associations, the American
- 8:49Speaker 2: Medical Association, the Association, the College of American College of
- 8:55Speaker 2: kind of Colleges, an ob obstetrics, like, we started reaching
- 8:58Speaker 2: out to them and saying, you guys need to be
- 9:00Speaker 2: pushing out accurate information and you can't let the politics
- 9:05Speaker 2: cloud where things are at based on the era that
- 9:09Speaker 2: we're living in. We have to be true to the
- 9:11Speaker 2: science here. And so this resolution, like I said, it
- 9:14Speaker 2: reaffirms that not a single professional accredited medical association believes
- 9:19Speaker 2: that abortion is what happens when you go through this right,
- 9:23Speaker 2: that's going to then translate into tackling the insurance companies
- 9:27Speaker 2: and how they build. And then it's going to also
- 9:30Speaker 2: create some legal precedent so that again the pro abortion
- 9:34Speaker 2: lobby can never use this as a weapon to hurt women. Ever, again, we.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Know the tax cuts had to get done. It got done.
- 9:44Speaker 1: What is the one thing that is most important in
- 9:48Speaker 1: the OBBB other than the tax cuts?
- 9:52Speaker 2: Oh? Oh man, there's so much.
- 9:56Speaker 1: What's the one that's on top of the list, though,
- 9:58Speaker 1: outside the tax.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Cut, outside the text, I would have to say border security. Honestly,
- 10:08Speaker 2: there is no country without borders, right, you can't have
- 10:14Speaker 2: a sovereign nation if you don't have secure borders. And
- 10:17Speaker 2: the hell that we have lived under for the previous
- 10:21Speaker 2: four years of open border policies, the Americans that have
- 10:24Speaker 2: lost their lives, the families that have been broken, the
- 10:27Speaker 2: crimes that have been committed by people who never should
- 10:30Speaker 2: have been here in the first place. I think about
- 10:32Speaker 2: those angel families all the time. And the one big,
- 10:37Speaker 2: beautiful bill it gave the most significant investment into border
- 10:43Speaker 2: security for not just keeping the border secure, because President
- 10:46Speaker 2: Trump he's actually in the first six months he made
- 10:49Speaker 2: it so that those borders are shut down like they're
- 10:52Speaker 2: completely secure. But now it's a matter of putting up
- 10:56Speaker 2: the infrastructure. That's the multiplier effect, and then giving the
- 10:59Speaker 2: resources to ICE and to customs and border patrol. They
- 11:04Speaker 2: really have a lot of work to do at the
- 11:06Speaker 2: commercial ports, but then also the interior enforcement. And so
- 11:10Speaker 2: I would say outside of the tax cuts, right like
- 11:13Speaker 2: no tax on over time, no tax on tips, locking
- 11:16Speaker 2: in taxes to avoid the largest tax increase in history,
- 11:21Speaker 2: border security was the most significant thing to come out
- 11:24Speaker 2: of that bill.
- 11:25Speaker 1: All right, what's the worst that has to be addressed asap?
- 11:31Speaker 2: H there was, of course I'm biased because it was
- 11:38Speaker 2: my bill, But the Rains Act. We made it through
- 11:41Speaker 2: the House with the Rains Act, which is the largest
- 11:45Speaker 2: regulatory reform effort in American history. Passing the Rains Act
- 11:51Speaker 2: saves US taxpayers two point five trillion dollars with a
- 11:55Speaker 2: t every single year. So when we talk about spending
- 12:00Speaker 2: and the national security threat that is our debt, I
- 12:05Speaker 2: would say that if we don't address regulatory reform, that
- 12:10Speaker 2: is going to continue to put us on that autopilot
- 12:15Speaker 2: spending spree that is going to be it's going to
- 12:18Speaker 2: ultimately take us down. And so I think that the
- 12:22Speaker 2: worst thing was we didn't make enough of a substantial savings.
- 12:27Speaker 2: We didn't cut enough of the deficit, and we need
- 12:32Speaker 2: to go back and we need to be absolutely ruthless
- 12:36Speaker 2: in getting our fiscal house in order.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Where is allowing us, you know, it's a pet issue
- 12:41Speaker 1: for me, total control of our own retirement, where the
- 12:45Speaker 1: government doesn't tell us what age we have to take
- 12:47Speaker 1: anything out. We can take it. It's our money, we
- 12:49Speaker 1: can take it whenever we want without penalty.
- 12:52Speaker 2: So there's a lot of talk right now, especially since
- 12:55Speaker 2: the Big Beautiful Bill included the MAGA Trump accounts for baby.
- 13:01Speaker 2: It's ignited a conversation about five twenty nine's about ross iras,
- 13:05Speaker 2: about iras in general four ah one kse. Really that
- 13:11Speaker 2: has stimulated a conversation in ways that I haven't seen previously.
- 13:14Speaker 2: So I think the talk of a second reconciliation package,
- 13:18Speaker 2: which is happening right now, will include additional reforms. But
- 13:22Speaker 2: I don't think it's just retirement right where people should
- 13:26Speaker 2: have the ability to make decisions about their own retirement
- 13:30Speaker 2: accounts and how they want to use that money and win.
- 13:32Speaker 2: But I think it should also extend to health savings accounts.
- 13:35Speaker 2: People should be able to take their health savings account
- 13:39Speaker 2: and use it in a way that they see fit.
- 13:42Speaker 2: I think, I really think that money for children that
- 13:47Speaker 2: goes towards their education should follow the child, not the school.
- 13:51Speaker 2: I really think that there is a conversation that has
- 13:55Speaker 2: started that is going to carry on through the next
- 13:57Speaker 2: couple of years that we're going to see serious reforms
- 14:00Speaker 2: to long standing programs that's going to really change the
- 14:02Speaker 2: way that we operate.
- 14:04Speaker 1: All right, Well, I'm sixty cat, I'm sixty five. You
- 14:07Speaker 1: got five years to get it done.
- 14:10Speaker 2: No pressure, right, I needed for the many people. Let
- 14:18Speaker 2: it be known, Preston has put me on the clock.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Come on, come on, Kats. In all seriousness, you're a delight.
- 14:25Speaker 1: We look forward to these visits and so appreciative that
- 14:28Speaker 1: you carve out time for us over here in the
- 14:30Speaker 1: Panhandle and Big Bend. And we wish you nothing but
- 14:33Speaker 1: the very best in the delivery of your little baby girl.
- 14:36Speaker 1: And thank you so much for the time, and we'll
- 14:39Speaker 1: talk soon.
- 14:40Speaker 2: I appreciate you so much. God bless take care by bye.
- 14:43Speaker 1: US Congresswoman Kat Camick with me this morning in the
- 14:45Speaker 1: Morning Show with Preston Scott
