- 1:09Do you want to jerk me off Speedy's mom?
- 1:13All right, ladies and gentlemen, we call this call your shots.
- 1:19I'm not an X's and O's guy, right?
- 1:21I'm not a tactician. I'm a motivator.
- 1:23In the classic sense of the word, you know, Lombardi,
- 1:25Charles Lindbergh, that nun over in India, like those people call
- 1:29your shot. Breaking news.
- 1:33I'm putting you on a leash now. Somebody's putting somebody on a
- 1:36leash, ladies and gentlemen. All right, ladies and gentlemen,
- 1:38this is how we're going to play. It's very simple.
- 1:41We're going to give you a specific thing we believe is
- 1:45going to happen in the next year or so, and we're going to tell
- 1:50you what it feels like or what it is, and we're going to give
- 1:54you our take to it. All right, here we go, Fish.
- 1:57You take one look at the NBA standings and something jumps
- 2:00right out at you. That's the Oklahoma City Thunder
- 2:03for 23 and 1. I mean, I'm going to just say
- 2:07right now they're going to break the record for wins in a regular
- 2:09season. They're unstoppable.
- 2:11Take a look at their point differential now.
- 2:13Houston, by the way, if you're taking bets, Houston's got a
- 2:16really good record too, and they've got a + 10.6 point
- 2:20differential themselves. But Oklahoma City plus 16.1, no
- 2:25other team is in double digits. They're better.
- 2:28They're doubly better than every team in the Eastern Conference
- 2:32and they're doubly better than every team in the Western
- 2:36Conference except for Houston and Denver in that metric and
- 2:40they're close to that on Denver as well.
- 2:42They are out of control good right now and I believe speedy.
- 2:48I think they have the Clippers for unprotected first round
- 2:52draft pick This. Year and.
- 2:53The Clippers are hot garbage. Can you imagine they get a high
- 2:57lottery pick to go along with the best roster?
- 3:01Young roster. We knew this was going to
- 3:04happen, this. Is the process give me OKC
- 3:07breaking records and possibly a year from now threatening their
- 3:12own record? This is a dynasty in the in the
- 3:15make guys. All right, so I'm going to shift
- 3:18back to some college football. I kind of hinted at it earlier
- 3:21the way I was thinking of a lot of these playoff teams.
- 3:23So I'm going to call my shot and I'm.
- 3:24Going to say I have no worry. I'm going to I'm going to call
- 3:28my son and say Indiana does lose their.
- 3:30First match also they go. You saw Oregon go into the
- 3:32regular season undefeated in the playoffs undefeated last year
- 3:35and I think that Oregon team was better than this Indiana team
- 3:38and Oregon got smoked by Ohio State.
- 3:41I like I again, Alabama does not deserve it, but I do like the
- 3:44talent. I think Oklahoma will beat
- 3:45Alabama because the game is in in Oklahoma.
- 3:47They won at Alabama during the regular breaking news.
- 3:51Smell my ass. But I'm going to, I'm going to
- 3:53say Oklahoma wins that game. But I think either one of those
- 3:55teams. Butt plug.
- 3:57Beat Indiana and then they will beat Oregon or Texas Tech and
- 4:01they will reach the national championship game.
- 4:05Beneficial. Dissect.
- 4:07He's dissecting it. All right, my final call.
- 4:11Your shot will go to the Colorado Avalanche.
- 4:16Yes, the unbelievable, unstoppable Colorado Avalanche
- 4:20right now in 29 games is 21 and two that they lost the game
- 4:25recently against the New York Islanders, they already have 48
- 4:29points. They're pretty unstoppable, very
- 4:32healthy, by far the best team right now in hockey.
- 4:36I believe this team is going to be unstoppable all season long,
- 4:40all the way through into the playoffs and all the way to the
- 4:43NHL Finals. My prediction here is they are
- 4:47going to the finals this year. I'm not going to say they're
- 4:49going to win because they're still the Florida Panthers.
- 4:53They're dangerous. Even though they started off
- 4:55very slow and the Eastern Conference is still open with
- 4:58Tampa playing as well as they are and Washington having
- 5:02another good season, I think it's going to be wide open.
- 5:04But watch out, ladies and gentlemen, the Colorado
- 5:08Avalanche is coming out of the West.
- 5:10They're going to the Stanley Cup this year.
- 5:12They're by far the best team. It's not even close in the
- 5:15Western Conference and fully healthy.
- 5:16Now, every single one of the play Brock Nelson, it got his
- 5:20new contract in the offseason. This is one of the best faceoff
- 5:23teams. This is one of the best power
- 5:24play teams. This is one of the most depth
- 5:27teams in the NHL right now. All four lines.
- 5:29You can't tell me a team has better four line than better 4
- 5:33lines than the Colorado Avalanche, right?
- 5:35And they get a goaltending too. So I they're unstoppable right
- 5:38now. I expect them all the way
- 5:41through into February to have no more than 10 losses.
- 5:44That's how good they are. You, you were just speaking
- 5:47about OK C This is the OK C Thunder of the NHL right now.
- 5:52That's how good they are. They could break a win record
- 5:55this year, the Colorado Colorado Avalanche.
- 5:57You say that, but then I saw this crap Rangers team get a
- 6:00point off of. Them that's fine.
- 6:02I don't know that that doesn't matter.
- 6:03I mean regulation. Loss.
- 6:05It's not a regulation loss dude. This team is loaded.
- 6:10Loaded and helped. No, I know they they, I mean,
- 6:13they're crazy. They're great and they're
- 6:15scoring a lot of goals, dude, they they're already 29 games,
- 6:19already have almost 50 points, OK, They're going to have like,
- 6:23they might have more points than any NHL team has had in the last
- 6:2720 years. What's the record 4 points in a
- 6:30season? I won 32.
- 6:32It was, it was the Bruins. It was the Bruins that did it a
- 6:34few years ago. Yeah, I believe it was 132.
- 6:36And I think they're going to break that this year.
- 6:38I think they're going to break. That you would need 6063 and
- 6:44then a bunch of overtime losses were like 65.
- 6:48It'd be like 66 in an overtime loss.
- 6:50What was their record that year? Speedy.
- 6:52What was their record? Because I remember their
- 6:55goaltender won the the goalie of the year that.
- 6:57Yeah, old Mark had that unbelievable year and then they
- 6:59blew A31 lead to the to the Panthers.
- 7:01It was 135 they got. That OK and what what was your
- 7:04record? It was 6512 and 5.
- 7:07I expect, I expect them to have something around there, maybe
- 7:10even better. I I could see them winning about
- 7:1368 games this year, all right. That's how good they are.
- 7:16It was really, really good, man. I watched them.
- 7:18I've watched them play 3 times this year and I watched them
- 7:20lose against the Islanders 6 to 3 and I couldn't believe the
- 7:24Island just scored six goals against them.
- 7:25That was probably, we won't see that again this year.
- 7:28It was pretty remarkable and that's why that was after the
- 7:31game. Patrick Wah, Patrick Wah's old
- 7:33team, the team that fired him, Patrick Wah said that was one of
- 7:36the greatest wins he's ever had and and he wasn't in net.
- 7:39So think about it. One of the greatest goalies of
- 7:40all time coming out and saying that was one of the greatest
- 7:43wins he's ever had so. He's going, he's going to hope
- 7:46to avoid the the fortune of the last two of these records that
- 7:48he takes because before it was the 2022 Bruids, it was the 2019
- 7:52Lightning that had that maybe the missile one Warrior 132 came
- 7:56in. They got swept in the first
- 7:57round by the John Tortorella LED Columbus Blue.
- 7:59Jackets. There you go.
- 8:01All right, ladies and gentlemen, we've got caged in MMA, jerk.
- 8:06Why'd you take your? Pants off my balls were fucked.
- 8:15This is caged in MMA. I wanted to get into it because
- 8:22I I've attacked the UFC, especially UFC 322.
- 8:26I didn't like it. I thought it was just really
- 8:29badly put together. But UFC 323 I thought was
- 8:33sensational. I thought there was a lot of
- 8:37superstardom and we saw some good young fighters coming up
- 8:40and even some mishaps and and things that happened that you
- 8:43don't want to see in the UFC and you don't want to wish anybody
- 8:48getting hurt in the middle of a fight where he has a chance to
- 8:51continue moving on and being the star and being the champion that
- 8:54he's been. Let's go into it.
- 8:56UFC 323 featured several main event fights, two ending in
- 9:01decisions and two ending in knockout.
- 9:04In the main event fight, Yon defeated Merab by unanimous
- 9:08decision to win the men's Bantam weight championship, getting
- 9:12revenge on Merab after Merab won their first fight on March 11th.
- 9:17In 2023, Marab lost for the first time since 2018, ending a
- 9:2414 fight winning streak. Yan has now won four fights in a
- 9:29row and has improved his overall record to 20 and five.
- 9:34Down the card, Van beat Pantoza in the first round.
- 9:39Just 22 seconds into the fight, after Pantoza's arm was broken,
- 9:44Tiaro knocked out Moreno with a second round knockout, improving
- 9:50his career record to 18 and 1. Talbot defeated Sauto by
- 9:55unanimous decision. Sauto announced his retirement
- 9:58after this fight. At 38 years old, Sauto finished
- 10:02with his career record 16 and six with 9 knockouts, but hadn't
- 10:08won a fight since May 9th, 2020 when he beat Cruz.
- 10:13Now I want to go to Sauto first because it's somebody that I
- 10:18love to watch fight. Henry Cejudo is one of the more
- 10:23underrated champions the UFC has ever had and and a guy that
- 10:27everybody counted out and anything, anybody that knows
- 10:31him, he believed in himself. He comes from a poor family,
- 10:34comes from a family that has nothing, always believes that
- 10:38everywhere he's gone and and all the tries and tribulations he's
- 10:42broken through was because of hard work and dedication and
- 10:45believing himself. He's the first UFC fighter to
- 10:49win an Olympic medal and yes, an Olympic medal and win two titles
- 10:56in two different weight classes at the same time.
- 10:59Think about it. And Henry Cejudo, who is going
- 11:03to ride off into the sunset, he did lose his fight and he wanted
- 11:07to go out a winner. And it was so gracious what he
- 11:09did after the fight. He was on his knees after the
- 11:12fight. He was talking to Dana and he
- 11:14said take care of this kid. I love this kid, the kid that
- 11:16beat him and Talbot and and spoke very highly of the kid and
- 11:21and said that, you know, he thanked before he even went up
- 11:24there. He was thanking the UFC and
- 11:26thanking, you know, everything that they've done and helping
- 11:30him and and really helping him, his family grow as, you know,
- 11:34people that really had nothing and now have something to live
- 11:37for. And Henry Cejudo is very loved
- 11:40by everybody. I don't think I've ever heard
- 11:42anybody say that Henry Cejudo was a bad guy.
- 11:44So I I, you want to see somebody ride off into the sunset as a
- 11:49winner. Peyton Manning did it.
- 11:51All these champions that we've seen over the years there, there
- 11:54are guys that ride off into the sunset.
- 11:56And I would have liked to see Cejudo do that.
- 11:58But he took on a fight, a fighter that's up and coming in
- 12:02a weight in that weight Class, A very good weight class with a
- 12:04lot of talent. And it's something that you you
- 12:08want to see. But my, my heart, my love goes
- 12:11out to the Suhudo family and Henry Suhudo.
- 12:14I, I love everything about him, everything that he stands for
- 12:17free mixed martial arts and and boxing and wrestling.
- 12:20This guy is so gracious and and such a good person by heart.
- 12:24And anybody that hates this guy or doesn't like this guy doesn't
- 12:28understand what it is to love a person that stands for his sport
- 12:34and, and what the sport really brings to the game.
- 12:37So my, again, my, my love goes out to the Sohuto family.
- 12:42The fight, the fight that really stuck out to me was Jan and
- 12:47Marab. And that was the fight everybody
- 12:49couldn't wait for. And I, me being one of those
- 12:52guys that couldn't wait for this fight, Marab wanted to break
- 12:55records. He's always about breaking
- 12:57records. Marab chains out here in Long
- 12:59Island, and I got a chance to go to the gym and watch this guy
- 13:02train. This guy is a monster.
- 13:04His stamina, his ability to do the things that he does and do
- 13:09it so freaking well. I've never seen anything have
- 13:12the stamina have a fight. I've never seen a fighter have
- 13:15the stamina this man has. He is special, he really is.
- 13:19And he didn't want to make any excuses after the fight, but he
- 13:23did come out and say that he had some kind of sickness and he was
- 13:26dealing with lung, lung problems because of the sickness.
- 13:29And I, I don't think he was trying to make any excuses after
- 13:32the fight, but there were people saying that he might have had a
- 13:35broken jaw. They were saying there were
- 13:37things going on in the fight that he just didn't look right.
- 13:40And I would, I would say that I, I would, but I got to give a
- 13:43little bit more credit to Yan. Yan was sensational.
- 13:46He really was, he was there, he was ready to fight.
- 13:50He was ready to dominate this fight.
- 13:52He had something to prove after 2023 and losing that fight
- 13:56against Mirab where it was very, very close until the 4th and 5th
- 13:59round, I, I just didn't think this fight was even close.
- 14:04I think Mirab was completely dominated after the second round
- 14:08and all the way through, Yan was throwing the jab.
- 14:11He bloodied his face pretty early in the fight.
- 14:13Really at the end of the first, the first round you saw that the
- 14:18Rob's eye was shutting and it was, it was getting pink and I
- 14:22it was just complete domination. The stand up fighting of Yan is
- 14:26just remarkable. This guy is one of the best
- 14:28stand up fighters the UFC has and he showed it.
- 14:32He was throwing inside kicks. He was, he was doing everything
- 14:35right. And every time a Rob was trying
- 14:36to take him down, he was he, he, he just did everything right.
- 14:41He sprawled everything, everything you can say you want
- 14:45a fighter to do against a great wrestler.
- 14:47Yon did that. And he completely did the one
- 14:51thing that would transition and take Marab out of the fight, and
- 14:56that was take him away from taking him down.
- 14:58I think if I'm not mistaken, Marab tried to take him down 29
- 15:01times and only took him down twice.
- 15:04Only took him down twice and I don't think Marab and when it
- 15:07comes to percentages we've ever seen Marab with those kind of
- 15:10percentages have so many bad opportunities or not have the
- 15:14opportunity to take a fighter down.
- 15:15The way he did. It was it was really remarkable
- 15:19if it was a fighter that could fight a perfect fight.
- 15:21Yan did that against Marab and anybody that knows mixed martial
- 15:25arts and understands mixed martial arts, the way he
- 15:28defended the takedowns was just excellent.
- 15:31And then when Marab would take him down, he would get right
- 15:35back up it. It's just that that's something
- 15:38that you like to see. You like to see somebody train
- 15:41and, and get ready for a fight and be ready for a fighter that
- 15:43completely dominated him in the, in the later rounds in the first
- 15:47fight in 2023. I will say this about Marab.
- 15:50Marab likes to take on challenges.
- 15:52Marab wants his rematch. And I, I could see Marab winning
- 15:55the the rematch, but Marab was trying to prove that he wanted
- 15:59to be the first fighter to win four matches in the year, in a
- 16:03year. And he was on his way.
- 16:05This was his fourth fight and an all four fighter, all the
- 16:09fighters that he fought this past year in 2025 were elite
- 16:12fighters. And he wanted to do it against
- 16:14Yan. And I just think he picked the
- 16:17wrong fight, the wrong match up against a guy that was hungry
- 16:20and younger than him. Yan is like two or three years
- 16:23younger then Marab is Marab is what 3536 Yon is like 3132 years
- 16:30old. He's in the prime of his career.
- 16:32I don't think we've seen the best of Yon yet.
- 16:34So that's the incredible story about this that when Marab
- 16:39fights Yon again, is is Marab going to get the best of him?
- 16:42Maybe Yon gets he's in his head now.
- 16:45So we've seen this before. It's with with the fight game.
- 16:49You just don't know. And it's it's, you know, the UFC
- 16:53has been back and forth with these these cards.
- 16:56So I I didn't know what to expect.
- 16:58But that fight was sensational. It's going to go up as fight of
- 17:01the year. And even though it was really so
- 17:06lopsided, when you look at the scores, it was a lot closer than
- 17:10you think. And again, I've never seen Marab
- 17:14being dominated, especially on the takedowns and trying to take
- 17:18somebody down and not taking somebody down the way Yon really
- 17:22defended it. I've never seen anything like
- 17:24it. So I, I still think Marab is one
- 17:26of the top three fighters right now in the UFC, even not being
- 17:29the champion. Yon is the champion right now.
- 17:31But I think the UFC has something I, I, I, I think we're
- 17:35going to see a lot of Yon Marab left.
- 17:39I could see maybe two or three more fights with these guys.
- 17:41They they're both great. And, and, and Maraba already
- 17:45came out and said, you haven't seen the last of me.
- 17:47I, I haven't even, I haven't even hit my top, my top.
- 17:52What, what, what would be the word I, I've not hit my top, my,
- 17:56my top end yet. So I, I'd like to see what
- 17:59Maraba is going to do, what he says he's going to do in the
- 18:01near future. The, the, the Van and Pantoza
- 18:06fight. Pantoza has been a dominant
- 18:10fighter. I think he's won five
- 18:11consecutive or six consecutive fights in a row.
- 18:14And he's been a champion and, and he has been as dominant as a
- 18:16champion in his weight class over the last couple of years as
- 18:20any fighter in the UFC. And to see a guy go down in the
- 18:2326 seconds, landing on his arm the way he did, and I got to
- 18:28give Van a little bit of credit. He's the youngest champion the
- 18:30UFC has ever had. I think he's 22 years old to see
- 18:34to watch Pantoza Pantoza go down the way he did and and not punch
- 18:41at him when he was pointing to his arm because he realized that
- 18:44it was broken or it was disgusting when you watch the
- 18:47replay of it was really, really bad to watch.
- 18:50But to see Van actually not drop hammers on him or hammer fist
- 18:55him or try to hurt this guy and they stopped the fight.
- 18:57It shows shows a lot on who Van is and, and how great of a young
- 19:02kid this this kid is. And I I'm looking forward to the
- 19:06rematch with Van and Pantoza. But it it was a fight that
- 19:09everybody was looking forward to.
- 19:10Pantoza, who's a great ground fighter, also can stand up with
- 19:14you. And Van is one of the best
- 19:16combination fighters, you know, in all of the UFC.
- 19:18So it was it definitely hard to watch.
- 19:21It was disgusting to watch. When you watch somebody land,
- 19:23it's like anybody watch Chris Wyman's fight when when his you
- 19:27know, his leg went on, his leg went went on and and Anderson
- 19:31Silver when his leg went on on him.
- 19:34So it it's it's disgusting. It's not fun to watch when
- 19:37you're watching mixed martial arts and you see something give
- 19:39out the way it did. But congratulations to Van being
- 19:43the youngest UFC champion the UFC has ever had.
- 19:47And then there was the Moreno and Tiara fight, who now Tiara
- 19:51is, is now the number one contender for Vans championship.
- 19:56So that could happen early next year.
- 19:59That could happen in the White House cuz I think that'll be a
- 20:02great fight. Tiara right now is 18 and 1.
- 20:05He bought a he beat a champion. Moreno is a two time champion in
- 20:09that weight class and he knocked him out in the second round and
- 20:12just completely dominated him. And at one point, Moreno had him
- 20:16in a triangle and it looked like it was really deep and.
- 20:20Tiara just calm down. He got himself out early in the
- 20:24later in the first first round and got out of the round and
- 20:28then just completely dominated the second round and eventually
- 20:31knocked out Moreno And Moreno. I thought the fights were
- 20:35stopped a little too early. I think Moreno, if you know,
- 20:39being that Moreno is a fan favorite and a champion, I think
- 20:42the referee could have given him a little more time to
- 20:45recuperate. But nevertheless, Tiara is one
- 20:48of the best young fighters in the UFC, one of the more
- 20:51dominant, one of the more dominant fighters we've seen in
- 20:55that weight class in a very long time.
- 20:56So it was a good card, fun to watch and it definitely the
- 21:02marab and yon fight was definitely up for fight of the
- 21:05year. I I don't think you can take
- 21:07away anything. Anybody that loves mixed martial
- 21:09arts and loves wrestling and and stand up boxing and kickboxing
- 21:14and Muay Thai. This was the fight to watch
- 21:16because you have two great champions, 2 great fighters
- 21:20going at one another and know each other very very well.
- 21:23Only in the second fight and and put on an absolute display of
- 21:27just combat fighting that you love to watch and and wasn't
- 21:32boring. There was nothing boring about
- 21:34that fight. And at the end of the fight,
- 21:36Marab, you know, his face was completely demolished and Yan
- 21:40didn't have one. I I don't think he had one
- 21:42bruise on his face, but I that's that didn't take away from how
- 21:47close the fight was in certain aspects of the fight.
- 21:50So but very well deserved by Yon.
- 21:52I think yon dessert, you know, wanted this fight.
- 21:55He's been waiting for a chance to fight Marab again and now
- 21:59he's on a winning streak. Marab was on a 14 fight winning
- 22:03streak and now he has a chance to start it again.
- 22:05He says we haven't seen the best of Mirab yet.
- 22:08So and he's 36 years old. So I'm I'm looking forward, I'm
- 22:12going to actually be going to the gym.
- 22:15I'll be going to Nassau County. I'll be going to see Mirab train
- 22:19coming up in the next couple of months and I want to see his
- 22:23workout plan at his diet is ridiculous and he doesn't have a
- 22:27dietitian. He doesn't trust dietitians.
- 22:29Anybody see the type of weight this guy drops?
- 22:32Think about it. He's dropping to 135, all right?
- 22:36He's walking at 180 and he's dropping almost 40 lbs with no
- 22:41dietitian. It's pretty incredible what he's
- 22:43doing right now. And I got to give a little bit
- 22:45more credit than credit is, you know, that people give Rob a
- 22:48little bit credit for. And he's such a kind soul, Kind
- 22:52soul and so humble. And he apologized to the fans
- 22:56after the fight and, and all that other stuff.
- 22:58And he wasn't trying to make excuses, but you could tell
- 23:01there was something up with him right in the beginning of the
- 23:04fight. He was playing with his jaw and
- 23:06it looked like he was breathing wrong.
- 23:08And he's never tired. So there was something going on
- 23:10with him as far as I'm concerned.
- 23:12But it was sensational. UFC 323 was definitely something
- 23:16that I was excited for and maybe the UFC has something up their
- 23:21sleeves for the final pay-per-view of the year in
- 23:26December. So I'm, I'm not, I I haven't
- 23:30been a fan of some of their pay per views.
- 23:32Three, 23322 wasn't great, 3/21 was and 3/20 was good.
- 23:39So every two, two main events to two pay per views, there's a
- 23:43good pay-per-view. So this was their best one in
- 23:46almost two months, so or three months.
- 23:49So it says a lot about Dana. And we'll see what Dana does.
- 23:52He's getting ready for this White House extravaganza.
- 23:56And I think they said it's going to be May or June where there's
- 23:59going to be 7 or 6 big time fights with some of the biggest
- 24:03fighters the UFC has to provide. And they're saying John Jones is
- 24:06going to come back to fight Piera Piera.
- 24:10So I'm interested to see what's going to happen with that and
- 24:14maybe somebody else, maybe Conor McGregor comes back, who knows?
- 24:18I'm yeah, I heard the last time I heard Conor McGregor's name
- 24:22being brought up in the conversation, he wants $100
- 24:24million and the UFC told him to bug off.
- 24:26So I don't know what's going to happen with that, but it very,
- 24:29very interesting story. So there you go, ladies and
- 24:34gentlemen. Now we got dial it up.
- 24:36We interrupted this regularly scheduled.
- 24:38Hot mix to bring your important news.
- 24:40We got a big broadcast to do here.
- 24:42We're about to dial it up. All right, guys, welcome to got
- 24:48a little, got a little my. Favorite.
- 24:52Lightning round sports takes. Errol hasn't seen these stories.
- 24:57He doesn't know what's coming. He's going to give us a take and
- 25:00then we're going to react to it. First story up, Jeff Kent,
- 25:02elected to the 2026 Baseball All of Fame by the ERA Committee.
- 25:10This 57 years old was named on 14 of the 16 ballots by
- 25:14Contemporary Baseball's ERA Committee, two more than he
- 25:17needed for induction. The interesting thing about Kent
- 25:21is that his famous teammate Barry Bonds is did not get
- 25:25enough votes whatsoever, and neither did Rodger Clemens, Gary
- 25:29Sheffield, Dodgers great Fernando Valenzuela.
- 25:32They were all named on fewer. Dottie Baseball.
- 25:34Ballots, Donnie Baseball, apparently, along with yeah,
- 25:41Donnie Baseball, Dale Murphy, Sheffield, a bunch of guys, they
- 25:44have to wait another five years before their names come up once
- 25:48again to be considered. And that's how it works with
- 25:51that error committee ballot. It's kind of interesting.
- 25:53But again, you know, Kent's career started, met the Dodger
- 25:59and a Giant. You're going to remember him for
- 26:01those three teams. Clearly a great player the whole
- 26:05time. Good for him, but it's kind of
- 26:08daily lives. He goes in before Barry Bonds
- 26:13Arrow. I love Jeff Kent.
- 26:17I've been rooting for Jeff Kent for the last couple of years.
- 26:21I I've been speaking about him and Albert Bell and another guy
- 26:24that should be inducted into the Hall of Fame, Don Mattingly.
- 26:27These guys were putting up numbers for a significant amount
- 26:30of time. Jeff Kent was the best 2nd
- 26:32baseman in the league for when he was in the league for like 8
- 26:36years. I mean power numbers
- 26:38defensively, he played multiple positions in the infield.
- 26:41He also, I think he even played in the outfield too.
- 26:44So he did so many things right. Was he?
- 26:47Was the media's? Was the media fans of him?
- 26:50No. Did he get along with Barry
- 26:52Bonds? No.
- 26:53Didn't get along with some of the teammates?
- 26:54No. But he was a great player and I
- 26:57don't know why the media and I don't know why the writers, if
- 27:00they don't like somebody they're not and induct him into Hall of
- 27:03Fame. He, this guy should have been
- 27:04inducted into Hall of Fame. He was a first ballot Hall of
- 27:07Famer. And if he wasn't a first ballot,
- 27:08he was a second ballot Hall of Famer.
- 27:10That's how great of a player he was.
- 27:12Very well deserved. I wrote a story.
- 27:14Go check it out on the Worldwide Sports Radio Network.
- 27:17I gave my take to it. Very, very funny.
- 27:19And I took shots at the committee.
- 27:21How many old guys or how many riders do we have to see when
- 27:24they finally figure out what and who should be in the Hall of
- 27:27Fame? This is ridiculous.
- 27:29This guy should have been here. Slam dunk.
- 27:31Barry Bonds should be in the Hall of Fame.
- 27:33I Barry Bonds should be in the Hall of Fame before Jeff can't.
- 27:36There's no question. Sure.
- 27:37Even even before the steroid era, Barry Bonds was a Hall of
- 27:40Famer. The fact that the committee is
- 27:42not and hasn't even come close to think that they were going to
- 27:45induct him into the Hall of Fame is a catastrophe.
- 27:48And Donnie Baseball, I believe in five years will be inducted
- 27:52into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Yeah, they're all all different
- 27:55independent cases too. Like I don't think that Barry
- 27:57Bonds directly correlates with Jeff can't like when you look at
- 27:59position wise, like Jeff, can we consider a top five 2nd baseman
- 28:02and arguably the best offensive second baseman you've ever seen
- 28:07power hitting wise for a position that's not a heavy
- 28:09power. And I remember we've discussed
- 28:10it for many years too. And I remember you guys were
- 28:13speaking about the meeting yesterday and yes, who texted me
- 28:15right after the meeting? Josh Silverberg, who's been very
- 28:17passionate about that for a while too on his show.
- 28:18It was him and Billy Wagner when he first did his show, like so
- 28:21adamant that those guys were slowing overdue.
- 28:23Wagner got in last year finally and Jeff Kent gets in this year.
- 28:26Very well deserved for him for a guy that's been a force to be
- 28:29reckoned with on the offensive side of the of the bat.
- 28:31At 2nd, you don't have to like somebody for him to be inductive
- 28:34Hall of Fame. Yeah, we've sent for a while.
- 28:36It's like a Hall of Selective. Sometimes I, I, I don't get it.
- 28:39I I really don't get it. Jeff Ken absolutely deserves to
- 28:42be there. His peers and you say top five.
- 28:45He's a top three second baseman of all time.
- 28:48If you look at his statistics or whatever you want to you, you
- 28:51got tell me a second baseman that has better numbers than
- 28:54this guy. That's all I'm going to say
- 28:56about that. I think Roberto Alamar probably
- 28:59has better numbers than him, but.
- 29:01I take him over Roberto Alamar any day.
- 29:03That's a Hall of Famer though, you know what I'm saying?
- 29:05Power wise I would I'm. Not talking power wise, talking
- 29:08as a player, but 351 home runs as a second base, most in the
- 29:12history of baseball. Jeff Kent, congratulations to
- 29:16him. From baseball, we go to one of
- 29:18Errol's favorite players in the world, James Harden, who passed
- 29:22Carmelo Anthony for 10. Please all time.
- 29:28What a picture. History.
- 29:30You like that picture? I thought you'd appreciate that
- 29:32one. So again, blessing, a testament
- 29:36to the work I've put in. It's an honor, especially with
- 29:39somebody like Melo who's done so much greatness for this league.
- 29:44Next above Harden on the list is Shaquille O'Neal who's 9 looks
- 29:49like 290 something points away from Harden.
- 29:53Looks like it's something that's attainable this season.
- 29:55Looks like Rodney Dangerfield. Look at him.
- 29:59Yeah, so I'll remember that. I finally got some respect.
- 30:03Later, but I I figured you'd have something to say about your
- 30:08boy James Harden when we. Dial it up.
- 30:12First of all, he's not Allen Iverson, nor will he ever be
- 30:14Allen Iverson. So Eric Coleman, eat your heart
- 30:17out says I have a story up there from, I don't know, a month and
- 30:20a half ago and I post it up. Listen, James Harden is one of
- 30:24the best offensive players of this era.
- 30:26There's no question. Him, Russell Westbrook, Kevin
- 30:29Durant, they all play together and never won together.
- 30:32It's great when you're putting up the numbers.
- 30:33Look at the guys that are on that list.
- 30:35Look at the guys that are on the list at this time of this time
- 30:39of this decade. None of those guys, Carmelo
- 30:41Anthony, did you ever win a championship?
- 30:43No. Who cares?
- 30:44I don't care where you are on the offensive side of the ball
- 30:47or what kind of offensive numbers you have.
- 30:49If you're not winning championships, why even play the
- 30:52game? You're making your money, that's
- 30:53fine. Your families are taking care
- 30:54of, that's fine. As far as James Harden is
- 30:56concerned. Scoring doesn't win
- 30:59championships. As we all know.
- 31:00You have to be a multi savvy player to win championships and
- 31:03James Harden is not, Carmelo is not.
- 31:06You name all those guys, they're not.
- 31:07So Kevin Durant won a championship because he had to
- 31:10play with Steph Curry and Klay Thompson and and Traymont Green.
- 31:14To me, winning championships takes you have to be a multi
- 31:18savvy player and and James Harden has never been that way.
- 31:21As a matter of fact. As a matter of fact, I think he
- 31:23is the leader of walking the ball into the basket.
- 31:26So I I just honestly, basketball is completely different.
- 31:31You might as well not even dribble the ball.
- 31:33Half these guys don't. So I don't know.
- 31:35No, like Speedy said to the 10 step, €10 step travel that he
- 31:39does per game. And also I remember we mentioned
- 31:41it a while ago when discussing James Harden as well.
- 31:44Matter of fact, but that step back that he's been doing for
- 31:47forever now is definitely a travel.
- 31:49I don't I don't care what anybody says.
- 31:50He takes like about 3 to 4 steps back and shoots the ball and
- 31:54somebody mentioned how it's like his gather step when he's I
- 31:57don't want to hear it. It doesn't make any sense.
- 32:00Arrow. You snatch the words right out
- 32:01of my mouth. It's cool that yeah, he's on the
- 32:0410th of all time scoring leaders.
- 32:06You know, he's pretty up there And what is it 3 pointers as
- 32:08well? Yep.
- 32:09But it's not, it's not translating anything and it's
- 32:12anything. I mean, there's a guy who's
- 32:14strong armed his way, wanted to play with this team, wanted to
- 32:16play for these guys, wanted to play with that guy, and it
- 32:18hasn't translated well at all. So yeah, he's scoring the
- 32:20points. He is a very prolific scorer.
- 32:22He's one of the best or one of the prolific scorers that we've
- 32:25seen in the league within the last 15 years or so.
- 32:28But one of the biggest crybabies?
- 32:29Still, that's the main thing, that's, that's the number one
- 32:31thing about it. So I mean, even this year he he
- 32:33had he said he didn't think it was a good idea to bring in the
- 32:38Chris Paul trade. And you know that that has his
- 32:41whole legs with its own situation.
- 32:43Him and Ty Lou didn't get along. But I just feel like him adding
- 32:45his comments. Nobody gives a crab James.
- 32:47So cool. You're the 10th on the lead on
- 32:50the list, but you're still with. You would ask me right now, who
- 32:53would I rather in the prime of their career, Chris Paul or
- 32:56James thought I'm taking Chris Paul any day, any day.
- 33:00So James, eat your heart out. And I don't, I don't care if
- 33:03he's in the top ten. It means nothing.
- 33:05It doesn't transition into anything.
- 33:07He hasn't won anything. He's won an MVP.
- 33:10Who cares? Everybody wins an MVP now in the
- 33:12NBA. It doesn't help you.
- 33:14It doesn't do anything for you. All it does is it makes you more
- 33:17money. So I guess that means everything
- 33:19to him. Not championships.
- 33:21All right, let's move on. We got another sport changing it
- 33:25up. Let's go to college football.
- 33:27This is a real weird 1. So James Franklin, as you know,
- 33:31was hired by Virginia Tech to be their head coach while he
- 33:35replaces former head coach Brent Pry, who was fired after an O13
- 33:42start. Pry, though, is now being
- 33:45rehired as part as defensive coordinator of the team that
- 33:50just fired him because Franklin has been with pride seems dating
- 33:56back to his Vanderbilt days almost 20 years ago.
- 33:59Never seen this. Before he was a kid, but this is
- 34:02something that like exactly highly unusual.
- 34:04Move. Is probably the the best way to
- 34:07put it. I've known Brent for over 30
- 34:09years. I got a ton of respect for Brent
- 34:11and his family. I know he poured his heart and
- 34:13soul into this place. I know this place is better to
- 34:15say because of Brent and the commitment he made.
- 34:19They owe Pry about 6,000,000 for firing him but he's back.
- 34:24I I don't know a similar story. I figured maybe you did, or
- 34:28maybe you could think of something.
- 34:31Dial it up. I've never heard a story like
- 34:34this that a coach gets fired and gets rehired by the coach that
- 34:37takes over for him and hires him as a defensive coordinator or an
- 34:41assistant coach. Never heard a story like this.
- 34:44Never. So it's pretty remarkable.
- 34:47Doesn't work. Maybe it does.
- 34:49Obviously the program loves him and and I'm sure Franklin
- 34:53reached out to the director and and probably went over this,
- 34:56this situation. Now, it would work out if he
- 34:59were to bring him in as a defensive coordinator.
- 35:01I think it's good for the school.
- 35:02I think it's good for the program.
- 35:03All you're doing is bringing Franklin in and you're bringing
- 35:05in the same guy that was running the program for the last couple
- 35:09of years. So I think it makes sense.
- 35:11But I've never seen anything like this.
- 35:13Could it work? Yes.
- 35:14Should it work? Who knows?
- 35:17You know, in that locker room when they fired this guy after
- 35:20they sucked, when they went O and three, so many of those guys
- 35:24took shots at them, said awful things, trash talk them.
- 35:29Now he's back. It's going to be weird and it's
- 35:32going to be awkward and I just don't think it's going to work.
- 35:36I I, I'm sorry, like, I just don't know how that works.
- 35:40I know that it'll work between the two of them.
- 35:43I'm sure they'll be professional really well because that's a
- 35:46role that they've, you know, shared together for a decade
- 35:49plus at different stops. But between Pry and his players,
- 35:53I don't know, man. I don't know how you have faith
- 35:56in the guy. And that's that point.
- 35:58It's going to have to take a lot.
- 36:00I I just it's, it's really unorthodox like you said.
- 36:03I can't think of any other example.
- 36:06Never. Not that quickly.
- 36:07Like sometimes coaches will come back to colleges like if they're
- 36:10more comfortable or they can't find a better candidate within
- 36:13maybe a five year. But have you ever heard a coach?
- 36:15Get fired and get rehabbed quickly.
- 36:18Not as an assistant coach on the no, that's a bizarre
- 36:21circumstance. Never heard anything like you
- 36:22were saying. Maybe there was a connection
- 36:24with the the Vanderbilt because James, James Franklin when he
- 36:27was early on at Vanderbilt, so he was battling a lot with just
- 36:30really to rebirth a team that was awful for a while.
- 36:33They're at baseball school and they had a couple 10 win seasons
- 36:36over there. Those were the last ones that
- 36:37they had until up up until this year.
- 36:39And now you're just trying to get familiarity with there.
- 36:41But again, there's enough of a connection to I guess maybe
- 36:43maybe it wasn't so bad that maybe it wasn't as awkward where
- 36:46they felt like they could still bring him back the athletic
- 36:48director. Or maybe there's just a good
- 36:49enough connection with both. Of them to make it work.
- 36:51I I mean, Dan Quinn is an assistant for the Rangers, I
- 36:56guess. I guess that's similar.
- 37:00I don't know. It's a weird one.
- 37:02Let's move on to the next story. But I literally I've never seen
- 37:05that before. No, not within a less than a
- 37:08year span. This guy we've seen before in
- 37:11this situation, here he is, the great Joe Moran.
- 37:15Guess what? We got some trade rumors to talk
- 37:20about. The Miami Heat are circling like
- 37:24vultures around the depressed asset known as John Morant.
- 37:30There's a lot of people who do not want John Morant.
- 37:34Here's the quote from an unnamed source of the combination of
- 37:38pain in the injury prone, not that good anymore and big
- 37:42contract is a bad one. He wouldn't want Morant on his
- 37:47roster regardless of salary. I don't know what his value is,
- 37:53but it appears Miami is very fascinated to find this little
- 37:58cheap, you know, reclamation project here.
- 38:02It appears that that they have the assets.
- 38:04They don't have a star player. That is the thing with Miami
- 38:07Spoelstra is able to cobble together.
- 38:10Not a bio is a bam out of bio is a good I think he's a.
- 38:14Sure, I think he's not a scorer though.
- 38:16No, they don't have a score. Valmont bands a defensive
- 38:20stalwart and, you know, a decent offensive player, but it's you
- 38:24don't have a guy like this or what the promise perhaps of John
- 38:28Morant is compared to the reality.
- 38:32Errol, how do you feel about heading to a place like Miami
- 38:36where I'm sure that that would be a great place for him?
- 38:39Dial it up. I wouldn't think that's a great
- 38:42place for him going to Miami with the gun charges and all the
- 38:45other stuff that we've heard. That is not a good place for
- 38:48him. Party Central.
- 38:50Before you continue, I have to tell you, they said in this
- 38:52article that Miami could provide the infrastructure that he
- 38:58needs. All right.
- 39:00Under a veteran, I'm going to, I'm going to give you.
- 39:01I'm going to give you the other twist here.
- 39:03We've had Tim Hardaway, senior on this show who played for the
- 39:07Miami Heat, and he was one guy that said that somebody needs to
- 39:10smack this guy around a little bit, OK?
- 39:13And now he's going to go to Miami and try to figure it out
- 39:15there. Good luck.
- 39:17I think John Moran is a great player To say that he's washed
- 39:21up and he can't play anymore. He's 25 years old.
- 39:23He's a kid. To say that he he's still in the
- 39:26prime of his, he's not even in the prime of his career yet.
- 39:29To say that he's lost something. I don't think he's lost
- 39:32anything. I just don't think he fits there
- 39:33anymore. Memphis doesn't know how to
- 39:35control him. I think he needs to start over
- 39:37somewhere else and I think he needs to go to a franchise
- 39:40that's going to give him a chance to flourish.
- 39:41Maybe a cremento or somewhere where it's quiet going to Miami
- 39:45where it's loud. Whereas partying and stupidity
- 39:49and strip clubs. It doesn't bode well for a guy
- 39:52like John Morant to go to a party central place like Miami.
- 39:56Anybody that's been there knows that that's not a safe place for
- 39:59a guy like John Morant. So that's a place that never
- 40:02sleeps. You don't want him to go to a
- 40:04place that never sleeps. You want him to go to sleep.
- 40:06You want him to hide himself in a room and make sure he's not?
- 40:10Bringing things out and about where he's going to get himself
- 40:13into trouble. So I not surprised Miami's name
- 40:17is being involved in this conversation.
- 40:19Miami's looking for that other star.
- 40:21They haven't had a star, a superstar player like a Dwyane
- 40:24Wade in a long time, a LeBron James of that magnitude since
- 40:28they were champions. And they're looking for that
- 40:30Next up and coming guy. And they haven't drafted very
- 40:32well. Tyler Hero has been the closest
- 40:34thing and I don't think Tyler Hero's anything.
- 40:37And like I said, Bam out of bio, he's he's a great player, but
- 40:40he's he's not that go to guy where you're going to put the
- 40:44lights on him and shine. Hopefully if you're going to put
- 40:46your lights and you're going to shine in on John Moran, keep him
- 40:48out of the strip bars and keep him, keep him away from the guns
- 40:52and the the stupidity. James Harden out of the strip
- 40:54bars. Yeah, that's that's another
- 40:56thing. Maybe they need to hang out
- 40:57together well. What it is too, like you said,
- 41:00they the Heat really need, they're in a prime position
- 41:03right now. They're doing pretty well.
- 41:04They're winning a couple games. They need to, like you said,
- 41:07have that one guy that's very flashy and very elite.
- 41:11Jimmy Buckets. I forgot about Jimmy Buckets.
- 41:13True, but even now that Jimmy actually know this last season
- 41:16that he was that he was moved to from them.
- 41:18But whole point is is you know, they're looking to go back to
- 41:21that window because the the window for Miami to win a
- 41:23championship is definitely closed or it's a lot slimmer.
- 41:26So for them to get that one other guy, I would say as a John
- 41:30Morant is really like you said, I think John Morant could
- 41:32definitely play. I think he definitely is not
- 41:34washed up the way the people make him seem.
- 41:36I know he's. 25 years old, how is he washed up I.
- 41:39I think so many people have already thrown the towel in on
- 41:41this kid that if he does go to Miami.
- 41:44He's having a bad year. He's averaging 18 points.
- 41:46That's a bad year on a Memphis Grizzly team, okay?
- 41:50And he'll be going. To shooting, His shooting
- 41:52numbers are atrocious. Yes, because there's a reason
- 41:55why he's not healthy and he doesn't want to be there.
- 41:58If you don't want to be there, he's pushing himself out.
- 42:00Yeah, you don't want to be there.
- 42:01He's playing like crap and he don't care and he's playing like
- 42:05it. He likes to pick on Klay
- 42:08Thompson. It's pretty funny.
- 42:10I mean, every time I like to pick on Klay Thompson, every
- 42:12time he's out there, him and Klay Thompson, there's something
- 42:15that's going on out there. Those two do not like each
- 42:18other. And, and what's great about John
- 42:20Moran is he he does it in such a savage kind of way.
- 42:25It's it's, it's so funny. Klay Thompson takes everything
- 42:29so seriously and this guy doesn't take anything seriously.
- 42:32They're two of the complete opposite.
- 42:34It's very funny, really is. I would love to see them on like
- 42:37on A1 on one like reality TV show.
- 42:41Could you imagine these two go against one another to try to go
- 42:44and go and go after the same girl?
- 42:47Meg, this what is it Megan the stallion?
- 42:51Both of them go after the same woman.
- 42:53That would be so freaking fun. So freaking fun.
- 42:55Seen worst programming on TV? This is one of my favorite
- 42:59graphics I've made in a long time.
- 43:00I'm not going to lie. All right, let's move on.
- 43:02Tony's the last story. Yes, or save.
- 43:07I'm sorry, what's we're doing Dial?
- 43:09It up. Dial it up.
- 43:10Save. Here he goes.
- 43:12You're so into that. Save your tears, crap, you know.
- 43:15You know what? You know what?
- 43:16It was your idea originally. Yeah, and now it's always on
- 43:19this thing. It's always my idea.
- 43:21Right here it is, John Calipari ripping the nil.
- 43:26Oh please. Some classic, Yeah, but you
- 43:29gotta I'll try to do the Calipari accent, I guess.
- 43:33There are a lot of older gentlemen with beards playing
- 43:35basketball in college right now. There are.
- 43:39So the one that's crazy and the guy comes in and he's waving to
- 43:42his kids up in the seats and he's like, wait a minute, the
- 43:45guys got two kids. He's still playing college
- 43:47basketball. Crazy thing, he's using NIL for
- 43:52his first wife's alimony and now he's still playing college
- 43:56basketball. Are we nuts?
- 43:58So now you have these kind of games and these kind of scores.
- 44:02Calipari very frustrated at playing teams with a bunch of 25
- 44:07year olds on them. And then, you know, having the
- 44:1018 year old squads that he's trying to build because I guess
- 44:13for some reason he thinks he's trying to do it the right way
- 44:16for the first time in his career.
- 44:18But here we go. John Calipari again.
- 44:22I love the the main quote. His first wife's alimony and
- 44:27he's still playing college basketball.
- 44:29Are we nuts, Errol? You know what's so funny?
- 44:34He should go and hang out with Rick Pitino because it seems
- 44:37like every single one of his players right now playing for
- 44:40St. John's OR are over the age of
- 44:4228. I mean, both guys are complete
- 44:48opposites. Kala Perry that he pretty much
- 44:50brings these guys in when they're 16 or 15 years old.
- 44:53They're top ranked players and and that's how we recruit some.
- 44:56He recruited them in Kentucky. Look how many players went to
- 44:59the NBA at such a young age and they only played one year with
- 45:02him. He went to a national
- 45:03championship win, lose and all that other stuff.
- 45:06And now you have Kala Perry coming out and saying they're
- 45:08too old. It's this, it's that NIL deals
- 45:11are keeping them here and, and they're paying their their wife
- 45:14or their girlfriends girlfriend or, or something because they
- 45:17got 3 or 4 kids. Who cares?
- 45:20If they want to, if they're eligible to play college
- 45:22basketball, let them do that. That might be the only time
- 45:25they're going to make that kind of money.
- 45:27They're not going to the NBA and if they play in the G League,
- 45:30they're not making any money over there either.
- 45:32Unless you're a big time superstar going into the draft
- 45:35the year after as a first round draft pick.
- 45:37So why are you complaining, Calipari?
- 45:39Nobody complained about some of the stupid stuff that you've
- 45:42done over the years. You've done a lot of stupid
- 45:44stuff and you've hurt big game of college basketball by the way
- 45:49you did it, recruiting players could to go to Kentucky, but
- 45:52nobody complained to you. It was OK when you were doing
- 45:55it. Now all of a sudden that NIL
- 45:57deals are bringing these older guys to play college ball and
- 46:00because they're older, you don't like it and they're not young
- 46:03enough for your liking, you're going to complain about it.
- 46:06Bah humbug. Go back Scrooge.
- 46:08I don't want to hear it from this guy.
- 46:10What a Scrooge. I and I like John Calipari, but
- 46:14a Scrooge. A very Scrooge move.
- 46:16And I, I love Rick Pitino because he came out, he was on
- 46:20Jalen Brunson's show with Josh Hart and they were interviewing
- 46:22him and it was very, very funny what he said.
- 46:25And Jalen Brunson came out and he says, well, how old are you
- 46:27guys? He says, the average player on
- 46:29my team is 27 years old. And he's like, well, you get
- 46:32them when they're ripe. He says, I get them when they're
- 46:34old because I'd rather coach older players that understand
- 46:37the game than the younger players where I'm trying to
- 46:39teach the game. So it's that's, that's the
- 46:42interesting take on it And and we'll see how it works for
- 46:45Pitino. A lot other people believe that
- 46:47Pitino and the St. John's storm could be a final
- 46:51fourteen this year. I wonder why.
- 46:53Calipari, maybe you should be taking some information from the
- 46:57petitioner. Yeah, but before I get to my
- 46:59point, it is funny better of Rick Petito because John
- 47:02Rothstein, who is the big college basketball insider to
- 47:05always has these nicknames for these coaches and fish, you'll
- 47:07like this based on your your thumbnail you made.
- 47:09He has Rick Petito's The Godfather and John Kalapower is
- 47:12the Last Corleone. That's so funny.
- 47:15It's so true right now. It really is.
- 47:17And that's what's so great about Pitino, because I, I was
- 47:20thinking when you'd popped that up, I'm like Rick Pitino is
- 47:23doing the quite just the complete opposite.
- 47:26He loves the NILDL. He loves that same Shawn's is
- 47:29doing this and giving them as much nil that he could possibly
- 47:32can to go after the older people, the older player,
- 47:36because they he thinks that it's better off not teaching them and
- 47:40and they already understand how to play the game where it's it's
- 47:43harder to get them to play his style of game.
- 47:45So it's so it's so perfect to watch these two guys go at it
- 47:49with one another. I would love to hear Pitino's
- 47:50thought to what Calipari? Said And you never saw him
- 47:53embrace it really until later on at Kentucky too, even when other
- 47:56teams were starting to do it. And it was a big reason, the
- 47:58SEC, he started to rise where it was having more parody in
- 48:01college basketball for a while, because for a while it was
- 48:03Kentucky and Florida. And then maybe you got maybe two
- 48:05other tournament teams that were very mediocre.
- 48:08Sometimes you'll have your occasional year with LSU, your
- 48:10occasional year with Vanderbilt seems like that.
- 48:12But it was always those two. Now all of a sudden you look at
- 48:14all the parody. Auburn's really good, Alabama
- 48:16teams like that because Calipari.
- 48:17Kentucky really fell apart the last couple years.
- 48:19The first year started to use the transfer portal was good.
- 48:22In 2022, I thought they would win it all.
- 48:23They go out in the first round against Saint Peters.
- 48:25It just shows it has any idea how to use those types of
- 48:28players. All of a sudden he's complaining
- 48:29about it because he's at Arkansas where the NIL is not
- 48:32going to be as strong. He's going to have influence,
- 48:33obviously, because it's type of the coach he is.
- 48:34But now he's complaining about it because the rest of the SEC
- 48:36is catching up and he's stuck at maybe the, I guess, NIL wise,
- 48:409th or 10th market of the SEC. Yeah, have fun with that one.
- 48:44And hopefully your coaching prowess will go so far with an
- 48:46Arkansas team in a very loaded SEC that had 11 teams in the
- 48:49tournament last year. Maybe it's time to retire.
- 48:51Stop complaining. That's all I'm going to say
- 48:54about that. I honestly, I have a lot of
- 48:57respect for John Calipari. I think he's one of the
- 48:59godfathers of college basketball.
- 49:01He really is. Ever since Coach K has been
- 49:03gone, guys like Rick Pitino, him and Roy Williams, before he
- 49:08retired, there were a lot of godfathers.
- 49:11And who's the kid from. Who's the guy from Michigan
- 49:13State? I'm.
- 49:14I'm sorry, is all these guys. Yeah, these guys are the
- 49:17godfathers of college basketball.
- 49:20And then you hear John Calipari, who's really been cheating for
- 49:25the last, I don't know, 10 years with Kentucky, and now he's
- 49:29complaining because he went to Arkansas.
- 49:31Player over 22 in his entire career for a while.
- 49:34What a baby. I mean, and Pitino is so funny
- 49:37because Pitino made a joke about it and he's like, yeah, and and
- 49:41and you know, Josh Hart, he does it in such a savvy, funny way.
- 49:44He was like, you like, wow, who's the youngest guy in your
- 49:47team? He said, I think the old, the
- 49:49youngest guy in my team is over the age of 25.
- 49:52And he says, where do you find these guys in schoolyard?
- 49:55Schoolyard basketball? I love it.
- 49:59Pretty much you didn't have a guy, I think besides their
- 50:01backup point guard on their championship team in 2012.
- 50:04I think he was the only one on their team that was in the
- 50:07perfect season in 2015. Like besides that, I can't even
- 50:09remember a Kentucky player that stayed four years of that.
- 50:12Era and it's so funny because Pitino actually coached Kentucky
- 50:15years and years ago, so he understands what Kentucky's all
- 50:18about. He understands what Saint John's
- 50:20is all about. He understands what New York
- 50:22basketball. And by the way, where is John
- 50:24Calipari from New York, Where is Pitino from New York?
- 50:28Nuff said. You got 2 New York guys coming
- 50:31out. Both both have their own
- 50:33opinions towards the way you're going to use NIL deals, 1
- 50:36bitching and moaning because it's not working out for him and
- 50:39the other one has all the money in the world to do whatever he
- 50:42wants with it. So who doesn't like that?
