- 1:39Speaker 2: Did some movie? Did?
- 1:40Speaker 5: Uh?
- 1:40Speaker 2: We got some for you guys. Ever get free furniture
- 1:43Speaker 2: from like friends and family and stuff, but you have
- 1:45Speaker 2: to go get it in a certain timeframe or you
- 1:47Speaker 2: don't get it. Yeah. Had that happen? Sunday morning? Wife
- 1:50Speaker 2: scoat like and we have the Saturday gig. And I
- 1:53Speaker 2: don't know if people don't know, but I'm not real
- 1:55Speaker 2: easy to deal with the week that we have gigs
- 1:58Speaker 2: like that because you wanted to go well, well, you
- 2:00Speaker 2: want it to go like perfectly, you over prepare and
- 2:04Speaker 2: I get real kind of anxious during those weeks. So
- 2:06Speaker 2: there are tough weeks.
- 2:07Speaker 3: I'm saying, you come a stress puppy.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Yeah, it does stress me out there. I think most
- 2:11Speaker 2: people would believe that you could be difficult to deal with, well,
- 2:15Speaker 2: going in before a big event. Yeah, and then the
- 2:18Speaker 2: next and then that Monday, of course, yesterday we start
- 2:21Speaker 2: the search your asof contest, which we have another clue
- 2:24Speaker 2: coming up here in just a few seconds. But you know,
- 2:26Speaker 2: it's very stressful and uh man, I gotta tell you
- 2:29Speaker 2: I was doing some moving that Sunday morning. My wife says, oh,
- 2:32Speaker 2: by the way, we have to be in Windowmere at
- 2:34Speaker 2: nine in the morning. Oh okay, to with a U
- 2:37Speaker 2: haul truck to pick up this couch and stuff. I go, well,
- 2:39Speaker 2: is it heavy? She goes, well, I mean, I don't know.
- 2:42Speaker 2: And I'm like, well, can you lift it? Because you're
- 2:44Speaker 2: my help. She goes well, I don't know, don't know.
- 2:48Speaker 2: I'm like, what are you doing? And then we get
- 2:50Speaker 2: there's like four other things and one of them is
- 2:52Speaker 2: a table that if I'm lying, I'm dying west two
- 2:54Speaker 2: hundred pounds and my wife can walk in a foot
- 2:56Speaker 2: then has to rest, then I have to rest. It was.
- 3:00Speaker 2: It was a nightmare. And that whole time I'm in
- 3:01Speaker 2: the back of the U haul truck, I just thought
- 3:03Speaker 2: of every FedEx and UPS driver that listens to us
- 3:05Speaker 2: every day, and I just said, shut up, you old bitch,
- 3:08Speaker 2: to shut your stupid, old cranky ass mouth and just
- 3:12Speaker 2: move this furniture. And realize people do this every.
- 3:15Speaker 4: Every single day of their but some days are worse
- 3:18Speaker 4: than others. And this is one of those days. The
- 3:20Speaker 4: humidity just extra out there.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I wouldn't be able to Like we were in
- 3:24Speaker 2: the back of the U haul just for a few
- 3:25Speaker 2: minutes at a time. You'd load in what we had
- 3:28Speaker 2: to load in and then get the hell out of there.
- 3:30Speaker 2: And my wife says, when we got in the truck
- 3:31Speaker 2: to leave, she goes, I felt nauseous like twice today.
- 3:34Speaker 2: And I'm like, and I said it, and then she
- 3:36Speaker 2: called herself a baby, and I thought, you don't have
- 3:38Speaker 2: to be a baby. I mean, it's just the heat.
- 3:39Speaker 4: Is the heat, yeah, exactly, And if you're not accustomed
- 3:42Speaker 4: to working in it, physically working in it, yeah. I mean, yeah,
- 3:45Speaker 4: it's gonna make you nauseous.
- 3:47Speaker 2: And you know for every ups, everybody, Amazon's.
- 3:51Speaker 4: Uh sanitation, yeah, construction poll workers.
- 3:55Speaker 2: How much water do you guys have to consume?
- 3:58Speaker 3: People who have to go into add We.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Were drinking like those you have a forty four ounce
- 4:02Speaker 2: yet anything, you know, And she's had one of these
- 4:03Speaker 2: biggest Stanley things. You know, it looks like a trash
- 4:05Speaker 2: can of the straw. And did you fight over No.
- 4:10Speaker 2: We filled each of those up at least three times.
- 4:12Speaker 2: No going to the bathroom. No, I mean we just
- 4:14Speaker 2: solid work the whole day. It was crazy, and again
- 4:18Speaker 2: it just felt terrible for people who have to work
- 4:20Speaker 2: out that stuff. All the landscaper guys out there, and
- 4:23Speaker 2: the landscaper dudes are even worse because they have to
- 4:25Speaker 2: cover from head to toe and sunshield stuff. So you
- 4:28Speaker 2: see them out there, it's a billion degrees and they
- 4:30Speaker 2: don't have any skin showing at all. That's because.
- 4:35Speaker 4: So it's ninety four right now, but with the heat
- 4:37Speaker 4: in decks, it feels more like one o three.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't Mindy and my wife landed in Wisconsin
- 4:42Speaker 2: this morning to a grand total of seventy one of
- 4:45Speaker 2: the finest degrees and then on top of that, the
- 4:47Speaker 2: kicking the nuts is. I got a text from Fias
- 4:50Speaker 2: this morning letting us know that he got to Toronto
- 4:53Speaker 2: and we were telling him that, you know, we had
- 4:54Speaker 2: some other stuff going on. I said, uh, I said,
- 4:57Speaker 2: I looked at the Toronto weather. It's like, oh seventy one.
- 5:00Speaker 2: How are you gonna take it? Faiez big baby, just fine,
- 5:04Speaker 2: he said, anyway four O seven nine text seven seven
- 5:08Speaker 2: zero three one. I was out in this sex thread.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Keep in mind, did you say sex thread text? I
- 5:14Speaker 2: guess all he did was go to Toronto and Jim
- 5:18Speaker 2: it's mad at him because the temperature in Toronto is
- 5:22Speaker 2: in the second and everybody gets that. Everybody understands you
- 5:25Speaker 2: should be mad about that.
- 5:26Speaker 6: Like, no, he's mad at Fias. Yeah, I'm mad at
- 5:28Speaker 6: Fis because he's enjoying. Oh yeah, yeah, you're not difficult. No, no, no, right,
- 5:36Speaker 6: seven to seven zero three one. You know, I saw
- 5:39Speaker 6: this thing yesterday speaking of hot weather and stuff. This
- 5:42Speaker 6: is the Is this the year? Is this the time
- 5:44Speaker 6: for ice cream?
- 5:45Speaker 7: Like?
- 5:45Speaker 2: Is this? Like you you listen, Well, I'm gonna that's
- 5:48Speaker 2: the question I have, Like, you know, do you guys specifically,
- 5:52Speaker 2: you know, wait for that time of years, like, oh
- 5:53Speaker 2: it's ice cream time. It's cold outside, it's warm outside,
- 5:55Speaker 2: gonna go get ice cream? Are you guys like that?
- 5:58Speaker 2: Do you guys eat a lot of ice cream this time?
- 5:59Speaker 8: Maybe?
- 6:00Speaker 4: I can't tell you the last time I had ice
- 6:02Speaker 4: cream seriously, like out or just anywhere anywhere?
- 6:06Speaker 2: Why not? You don't know you don't like ice cream?
- 6:08Speaker 3: I love ice cream.
- 6:10Speaker 4: I just kind of go through these, you know, spits
- 6:11Speaker 4: and spurts, eat a lot of it. You can't get enough,
- 6:14Speaker 4: you know, super chunk fudge, Thank you, Jerry.
- 6:17Speaker 2: You don't have the craving sometimes we get we get
- 6:19Speaker 2: the culver cravings because in the.
- 6:21Speaker 3: I've never had a frozen treat from Culvers.
- 6:24Speaker 2: When you get a Culver's if you get my kid,
- 6:26Speaker 2: my daughter, my wife gets the kid's meal, and the
- 6:29Speaker 2: kid's meal comes with a little a little yogurt cup, right.
- 6:32Speaker 3: Make you feel creepy, you're.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Such a nasty hat, so disgusting. Uh, I can't make
- 6:45Speaker 2: a little slip, and they will. They give you these
- 6:51Speaker 2: little cups of yogurt like it comes with the frozen custard. Yeah,
- 6:57Speaker 2: it's so good. They do all these flavors like you
- 7:00Speaker 2: never know. That's the greatest thing about Culver's roll up
- 7:02Speaker 2: and I'll go have a kid's meal and surprise me
- 7:05Speaker 2: and it's like some kind of crazy like Nestley fudge
- 7:08Speaker 2: nut mint one last week was like Andy's Explosion and
- 7:12Speaker 2: it was mint ice cream with chocolate andyes, broke up
- 7:15Speaker 2: into it or you know the hour. Holy ass, was
- 7:18Speaker 2: it good? Every single time they nail it, dude, It's
- 7:22Speaker 2: never just plain old chocolate or vanilla. It's something really awesome.
- 7:28Speaker 2: And the reason I ask is this, what do you think?
- 7:31Speaker 2: What states do you think eat the most ice cream?
- 7:34Speaker 3: It's gotta be my homes day of Wisconsin.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Do you think of this?
- 7:37Speaker 4: We're pretty big on the dairy up there, Jimmy, Yeah,
- 7:40Speaker 4: pretty big on the well.
- 7:41Speaker 2: And beer Vermont Vermont ooh good one. You know, it's
- 7:44Speaker 2: so funny. The reason I asked this question because I
- 7:46Speaker 2: saw the ice cream thing today is when I was
- 7:48Speaker 2: in Maine. The one thing that you can't imagine. It's
- 7:51Speaker 2: like you're up there in Maine, where it's usually cold
- 7:53Speaker 2: all the time, there's summer literally and I'm not kidding.
- 7:56Speaker 2: It's from like August first to like September eighth. That
- 8:00Speaker 2: is their summer. I'm not joking. It's literally forty days
- 8:03Speaker 2: long because the evenings in August late August. Up, they're
- 8:06Speaker 2: already are going back in the forties. Oh yeah, but
- 8:08Speaker 2: Maine has an ice cream shop every eighteen feet. You
- 8:12Speaker 2: think we have seven eleven go to Maine. Every other
- 8:16Speaker 2: effing block there is a there is an ice cream
- 8:19Speaker 2: shop in Maine. Whoa, Yeah, Delaware, Massachusetts all in the
- 8:25Speaker 2: top of the of the things. But the Northeast dominates.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Really yeah, the Northeast dominates for people who like ice cream,
- 8:32Speaker 2: which is kind of wild. I thought they would all
- 8:34Speaker 2: be in the South, but they're not at all. I
- 8:36Speaker 2: thought the Midwest. Yeah, no, it's it's all the Northeast.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Let's see Rhode Island, New Hampshire, New York all in
- 8:42Speaker 2: the top ten. Vermont is the strongest concentration. You nailed it, Jack,
- 8:46Speaker 2: Eighteen shops per one hundred thousand residents. That's a lot, guys,
- 8:51Speaker 2: dat yes, because you could pee across from Vermont. I
- 8:54Speaker 2: mean it's like a driver's seven iron across Vermont. So yeah,
- 8:58Speaker 2: it's kind of crazy up there. Missouri also was part
- 9:00Speaker 2: of that whole world and I didn't see one state
- 9:03Speaker 2: from the south, and therefore the ice cream world, which
- 9:05Speaker 2: I found kind of wild. That is correct, because man,
- 9:08Speaker 2: when when Jeremiah's hit here, that's all we did in
- 9:10Speaker 2: the summer is taken. I mean, you want to get
- 9:12Speaker 2: the kids happy. It's the that was the cheapest drug
- 9:15Speaker 2: in the history of time. You could take your kids
- 9:18Speaker 2: get a small Jeremiah's Italian ice like the Jelati where
- 9:21Speaker 2: it's the ice cream and then the gelati and then
- 9:23Speaker 2: ice cream again. And they were like three dollars apiece,
- 9:25Speaker 2: and I like, you know, the entire kid nation that
- 9:28Speaker 2: we had for twenty dollars would do anything we wanted
- 9:31Speaker 2: because we could get them Jeremias. We were up there
- 9:32Speaker 2: twice a week. It just doesn't have to seem allure.
- 9:35Speaker 2: I guess in the States here it should though, because
- 9:38Speaker 2: it's cold. Is that ice cream? Yeah? What is that
- 9:41Speaker 2: ice cream? I don't know what part of it is.
- 9:43Speaker 2: The Jelatti's not It's just frozen ice. That's why they
- 9:46Speaker 2: call it Italian ice, right, It's just for like concentrated
- 9:49Speaker 2: like frozen water with flavory. That's what Italian ice is.
- 9:51Speaker 2: But flavored frozen ice. Yeah, but the jelatti is the
- 9:55Speaker 2: is the ice cream product. Yeah, that's definitely an ice cream,
- 9:58Speaker 2: isn't that's a Julyati or Jelata. It's I don't know
- 10:01Speaker 2: wherever you are, Joe, Italy, it's gelato, okay, which is great? Okay, good,
- 10:06Speaker 2: We'll say we're not Italy though. Well, that's why I'm asking. Yeah,
- 10:11Speaker 2: and this past weekend to be this past week had
- 10:13Speaker 2: the family ever made it? I made a dump sheet
- 10:16Speaker 2: or dump a dump cake, peach cobbler. You ever done that?
- 10:19Speaker 2: What is that? You take a can of peaches, by
- 10:22Speaker 2: the way, the easiest dessert in the world. If you
- 10:23Speaker 2: ever get struck for a dessert, this is it. You're ready.
- 10:26Speaker 2: It's three ingredients you can't lose delicious every time. Canned peaches,
- 10:30Speaker 2: Like slice peaches in the bottom of a cake like
- 10:33Speaker 2: a glass pan or cake sheet, whatever cake pan. Take
- 10:37Speaker 2: a box of vanilla cake, your favorite whatever we use,
- 10:41Speaker 2: Duncan Hines. You sprinkle that on top of that, and
- 10:43Speaker 2: you pour like half a cup of butter on top
- 10:45Speaker 2: of that and throw it in the oven for like
- 10:47Speaker 2: three fifty for like eighteen minutes or something, and it's
- 10:49Speaker 2: absolutely perfect. It's the most beautiful, delicious dessert of all time.
- 10:54Speaker 2: And we got Tillamook ice cream for the first time ever.
- 10:56Speaker 2: I've never had it. It's damn good, dude, that's a
- 11:00Speaker 2: damn good product. That's the closest thing to Hoggendaws I've
- 11:02Speaker 2: had in the They have cheese as well, right, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 11:07Speaker 2: I don't know where they're from or whatever, but I've
- 11:08Speaker 2: seen their cheese, We've eaten it. But their ice cream
- 11:11Speaker 2: was exceptionally good. It's a Native American brand. Is it
- 11:13Speaker 2: really injected? I don't know what is the thing? You
- 11:18Speaker 2: say it too confidently and you make people believe you're
- 11:20Speaker 2: fing with them, and I think, right now, Vermont, what yeah,
- 11:24Speaker 2: you know your dairy? Never see if Tillamook is a
- 11:29Speaker 2: Native American owned company, and if not, some time out
- 11:33Speaker 2: all right four oh seven nine six four one text
- 11:36Speaker 2: us at seven seven zero three one. All right, before
- 11:39Speaker 2: we get to news, you guys are out there and
- 11:42Speaker 2: you're waiting with baited breath for this next clue. Now here,
- 11:47Speaker 2: this is here, This is gonna go this way. This
- 11:50Speaker 2: is search your ASoP. This is the Big Green Egg hunt,
- 11:53Speaker 2: and this is clue number two on where it is located.
- 11:56Speaker 2: In central Flow. Okay, now I'm going to like admittedly
- 11:59Speaker 2: we say that the first two days of this thing
- 12:01Speaker 2: are basically the procedural part of this. Tomorrow we will
- 12:05Speaker 2: have two clues, and then Thursday we will also have
- 12:08Speaker 2: two clues. So Tomorrow is going to be meat on
- 12:11Speaker 2: the bone, and then Friday is going to be really
- 12:13Speaker 2: meat on the bone or Thursday. So prepare yourself accordingly. Yeah, yeah,
- 12:17Speaker 2: not the giveaway.
- 12:18Speaker 4: But all right, real quick, Tillamook is not a Native American.
- 12:21Speaker 4: It is not Native American owned. The name comes from
- 12:25Speaker 4: the indigenous Native American tribe that originally inhabited the Oregon Coast.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Do I get points for that? You do not, buddy,
- 12:31Speaker 2: It's out a Native American to me, this stone cold line.
- 12:35Speaker 2: I did make it up, but I think it was
- 12:37Speaker 2: based out of some Native American e facts. All right,
- 12:41Speaker 2: very good, All right, here we go. So we're gonna
- 12:42Speaker 2: do the next search your aceof I'll do the first
- 12:44Speaker 2: one and then I'll read the second one. All right, guys, ready, ready,
- 12:47Speaker 2: here we go. We gather once more to venture a
- 12:49Speaker 2: tour of three counties both far and wide. A chief,
- 12:52Speaker 2: a tribe, and a fruit. To be absolute is where
- 12:54Speaker 2: the booty does hide. He said, booty, it's on public lands,
- 12:57Speaker 2: so you won't need to stand on anyone's property or play.
- 13:00Speaker 2: You want, need to swim or climb, but some digging
- 13:02Speaker 2: maybe fine to lift it from its space. Woo okay,
- 13:08Speaker 2: so there you go. Oh, that's the second one. That's
- 13:11Speaker 2: the second fast it is. And then tomorrow tomorrow. I
- 13:24Speaker 2: was gonna say, too, pump chump. That didn't work to clue.
- 13:27Speaker 2: I can't think of anything else and rhymes with that
- 13:29Speaker 2: that quickly slow the that's I'll do. Got some news,
- 13:33Speaker 2: all right.
- 13:33Speaker 4: The Central Florida Zoo unfortunately reports another sloth death. Longwood
- 13:38Speaker 4: pauses a proposed hike, and the National Retail Federation gentlemen rejoice.
- 13:43Speaker 4: Projects records spending for Father's Day. Really Oh yeah, we're
- 13:49Speaker 4: gonna talk those numbers and more coming up next during
- 13:51Speaker 4: JCS news.
- 13:52Speaker 2: Did they talk to my brocast kids? Almighty? Already four seven?
- 13:57Speaker 2: Then we just tell you the one text us at
- 13:59Speaker 2: seven seven zero three one back in a second with
- 14:01Speaker 2: Dub's news and more than Jim Colbert shows.
- 14:03Speaker 9: Right there, Oh you fit, hitting three nerves with me
- 14:08Speaker 9: right off the bat.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:10Speaker 9: Occasionally one of our hangars I have to work in. Yeah,
- 14:13Speaker 9: it's unventilated and way hotter than hot yoga.
- 14:17Speaker 2: But ice cream, man, every month, this is one for
- 14:21Speaker 2: ice cream. And if you all don't know anything about
- 14:23Speaker 2: dump cake, Jimmy's right.
- 14:25Speaker 9: We like to use a blueberry pie filling, but fine
- 14:28Speaker 9: apple works anything dump cake, that's right.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Expand your mind a loo hob rou that's right, blueberries, cherries,
- 14:36Speaker 2: any canned fruit like that. People are like, do you
- 14:38Speaker 2: put the juice in there? I'm like, no, you drain
- 14:40Speaker 2: them out a little bit, throw the beaches in the bottom,
- 14:42Speaker 2: covered up with the dumb cake, pour butter on top,
- 14:44Speaker 2: and off you go. I swear it works. It easy, easy,
- 14:47Speaker 2: easy as it gets. If you like getting a pinch
- 14:49Speaker 2: and you're having a family dinner, and it's so cheap.
- 14:51Speaker 2: I mean the entire things under ten dollars. And the
- 14:53Speaker 2: one we made served eight people, and I mean healthy serving.
- 14:56Speaker 2: This is very good, nice all right? Four seven nine
- 15:00Speaker 2: text us seven seven zero three one. You heard me
- 15:02Speaker 2: laughing coming on the air, because as soon as I
- 15:04Speaker 2: opened my mic, I looked to the right and I
- 15:06Speaker 2: saw somebody bitching at the clue, saying it was a
- 15:08Speaker 2: big tease. I told you guys, right up front, The
- 15:10Speaker 2: first two clues are procedural. The real meat on the
- 15:14Speaker 2: bone starts tomorrow for sure. Tomorrow and Thursday will be
- 15:17Speaker 2: the clues that will give you that definitive information to
- 15:20Speaker 2: allow you to go out and uh and search around.
- 15:23Speaker 2: We get a lot of questions about it. Thanks tools
- 15:25Speaker 2: a hardware. We really appreciate it. It is the Searcher
- 15:27Speaker 2: asof Contest twenty twenty six, and it is on if
- 15:30Speaker 2: you go to Real Radio, dot FM, slash Ace. We
- 15:33Speaker 2: have the clues up there now and we will continue
- 15:35Speaker 2: to post those as we review them or reveal them
- 15:38Speaker 2: on the air. Right, I got dump take questions, they
- 15:43Speaker 2: can wait till laugh. Okay, a welcome back to Jim.
- 15:46Speaker 2: There's Jack and dev as your news. Let's get it.
- 15:49Speaker 1: It's time for JCS news.
- 15:53Speaker 10: Wow, this guy kind of first name on everything.
- 15:55Speaker 2: It's in my contract, Dug.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Here's the news on the Jim Colberg.
- 15:59Speaker 4: Show and as always JCS News brought to you by
- 16:02Speaker 4: that mortgage guy Don. The Central Florida Zoo is reporting
- 16:05Speaker 4: another sloth death. Willow was one of fourteen sloths rescued
- 16:10Speaker 4: from that abandoned Sloth World attraction off of Eydrive in Orlando.
- 16:14Speaker 4: She died due to declining health despite efforts to savor
- 16:18Speaker 4: They said her health was just declining actually over several weeks.
- 16:21Speaker 4: Six sloths have now died over the past two months,
- 16:24Speaker 4: and eight are still undergoing treatment. The Orangejostialistate Attorney's office
- 16:28Speaker 4: is investigating potential charges related to the sloth's death. All Right,
- 16:33Speaker 4: A man is facing animal cruelty charges in Brevard County.
- 16:36Speaker 4: The Sheriff's office announced yesterday Donnell Smith was arrested. He
- 16:41Speaker 4: has since bonded out of jail after deputy's investigated report
- 16:45Speaker 4: of a smell coming from an RV trailer he owned.
- 16:48Speaker 4: Sheriff Wayne Ivy says three dogs died after Smith locked
- 16:52Speaker 4: them inside the trailer for days without food, water, or ventilation.
- 16:56Speaker 4: This arrest comes after Smith's wife died last month after
- 17:00Speaker 4: she was muled by two dogs from her neighbor in Coco,
- 17:05Speaker 4: and arrest has been made in that case as well.
- 17:07Speaker 2: Weird, Weird, Weird. I read that this morning. I was like,
- 17:11Speaker 2: it's hard to even figure out what's what? Will you
- 17:14Speaker 2: need pictures? And that's why I watch that one on
- 17:16Speaker 2: the TV news. It's like, Okay, his wife he's in
- 17:19Speaker 2: the trailer. He ignored the dogs, but she was attacked
- 17:22Speaker 2: by the dogs of the neighbor. So neighbors in jail.
- 17:25Speaker 2: He's in jail, right, and the woman's dead.
- 17:28Speaker 4: And now and five dogs will have died because the
- 17:31Speaker 4: two that attacked will be euthanized, and then her three
- 17:34Speaker 4: little dogs he apparently just locked in the RV and
- 17:37Speaker 4: just left them there.
- 17:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:39Speaker 4: So yeah, that's what Sheriff Wayne Ivy was saying. He said,
- 17:42Speaker 4: everything about this case just keeps getting worse and worse
- 17:45Speaker 4: and worse. All Right, This next story, though, I'm sure
- 17:49Speaker 4: as a consumer, is not going to frost your flakes.
- 17:52Speaker 4: Florida Power and Lights parent company, remember we talked to
- 17:55Speaker 4: Scott Maxwell about this last week. Well, FPL's parent company,
- 18:00Speaker 4: next Era Energy, has agreed to a one hundred and
- 18:03Speaker 4: fifty million dollar class action lawsuit a settlement. Actually, the
- 18:08Speaker 4: deal closes a massive securities fraud lawsuit accusing executives of
- 18:13Speaker 4: misleading shareholders during past political controversies. The payout comes at
- 18:19Speaker 4: a critical moment for the utility giant. Next Era is
- 18:22Speaker 4: currently moving forward with an all stock buyout of Dominion Energy.
- 18:26Speaker 4: If regulators approve the multi billion dollar merger, it will
- 18:30Speaker 4: officially create the world's largest regulated electric utility business. And
- 18:34Speaker 4: if you remember, this was tied to ghost candidates, candidates
- 18:39Speaker 4: with similar sounding names, yep, yep. So Jason Berduur was
- 18:44Speaker 4: caught up in that scandal as well, so square. So yeah,
- 18:50Speaker 4: that's that, you know, for all those people who think, oh,
- 18:53Speaker 4: it's just a utility.
- 18:55Speaker 3: Oh, they've got that.
- 18:56Speaker 2: Yeah, there's there's fingers, there's dark fingers, there's dark fingers.
- 19:02Speaker 3: All right, all right, we're tracking the tropics.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Then, as you say nothing, the.
- 19:07Speaker 4: National Hurricane Center is monitoring an area of low pressure
- 19:11Speaker 4: and the western Gulf of America.
- 19:13Speaker 11: Really the main store here is the heavy rainfall that
- 19:15Speaker 11: could occur from Texas into.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Louisiana and then into Mississippi as its disturbance moves through
- 19:20Speaker 2: the northwestern Gulf.
- 19:21Speaker 4: So Larry Kelly, a specialist at the National Hurricane Center,
- 19:24Speaker 4: says this system has a sixty percent chance developing into Arthur,
- 19:28Speaker 4: which would be the Atlantic's first tropical storm of the year.
- 19:31Speaker 4: And while it heads toward Texas, it'll keep our local
- 19:34Speaker 4: summer humidity high and low rain chances to start the week.
- 19:37Speaker 4: The good news is as if this hits the Panhandle,
- 19:40Speaker 4: they could really use it. They are still suffering from
- 19:43Speaker 4: an exceptional drought. They are way beyond where the rest
- 19:46Speaker 4: of the state is drought white.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Yeah, well, you look at that map of Florida. We
- 19:49Speaker 2: are doing pretty poorly. We actually have kind of rebounded
- 19:51Speaker 2: a little bit. But that area up there, just west
- 19:54Speaker 2: of Tallahassee, like deb is talking about, the Vanhandle, is
- 19:56Speaker 2: one of the worst in the nation.
- 19:58Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly for droughts. So they could really use some
- 20:00Speaker 4: tropical downpours.
- 20:02Speaker 2: All right.
- 20:02Speaker 4: Dehome and auto rates are dropping in Florida. Tripa A
- 20:07Speaker 4: says it's reducing rates by up to five percent, saving
- 20:10Speaker 4: policyholders in the state twenty eight million dollars. The company
- 20:14Speaker 4: says the state's insurance market is stabilizing, making the reductions possible,
- 20:19Speaker 4: and that's good news going into this next story because
- 20:23Speaker 4: a lot of Floridians do not make enough money to
- 20:26Speaker 4: afford their basic needs. That's according to the latest Alice
- 20:29Speaker 4: report from the United Way. It found this percent of
- 20:33Speaker 4: state residents fall at or below ICE thresholds. That means
- 20:37Speaker 4: they struggle to afford basic needs and often must make
- 20:41Speaker 4: very difficult financial choices. Do we pay the power bell,
- 20:43Speaker 4: do we get groceries. What percentage of Florida residents say
- 20:46Speaker 4: they meet this?
- 20:47Speaker 2: Man, I just heard a report out of Miami, Like,
- 20:50Speaker 2: for the first time in a long time, people that
- 20:53Speaker 2: in the Miami area are below the fifty percent rate
- 20:55Speaker 2: on that. So, man, I'll go like a I'll go
- 21:00Speaker 2: fifty two percent, fifty.
- 21:03Speaker 4: One, forty seven percent, forty seven percent of state residents
- 21:07Speaker 4: fall at or below.
- 21:08Speaker 2: Happy about waiting no now?
- 21:11Speaker 4: ALICE is short for asset limited, income, constrained and employed.
- 21:17Speaker 3: That's the important part to remember. These folks do have jobs.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Yeah, matter of fact, the Miami reports that some of
- 21:22Speaker 2: them have two jobs and still can't make it work.
- 21:25Speaker 2: I can't. And that's including a spouse that works.
- 21:27Speaker 4: Yeah, And this one uses a broader measure than the
- 21:30Speaker 4: federal poverty level, factoring in income, household type, and local
- 21:34Speaker 4: living costs. The report also identifies adults ages twenty five
- 21:38Speaker 4: to sixty four as the group facing the greatest financial challenges.
- 21:42Speaker 2: You mean adults exactly? You be working adults?
- 21:45Speaker 5: Then?
- 21:46Speaker 2: Is that who you're talking about?
- 21:47Speaker 12: Dad?
- 21:47Speaker 2: Twenty five to sixty four? Very much? Everybody, I mean
- 21:51Speaker 2: everybody in the midst of their complete career.
- 21:53Speaker 4: From your kids to everyone. Yeah, exactly, they just wanted
- 21:57Speaker 4: to cover the bases. Jimmy, they just wanted to cover
- 21:59Speaker 4: the base.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Oh, why did you say everybody out of college? Exactly?
- 22:03Speaker 4: All right, Well, if you live in Longwood, some good news,
- 22:05Speaker 4: residents there will not see a rise in their water rates.
- 22:09Speaker 4: Last night, Longwood City commissioners pause plans to nearly double
- 22:13Speaker 4: monthly meter rates. The funds would have been used to
- 22:16Speaker 4: update water and sewage systems. Now the city says it's
- 22:18Speaker 4: exploring options such as bonds and loans to finance water
- 22:23Speaker 4: infrastructure improvements. And then from that we go to this
- 22:27Speaker 4: where SpaceX has become the fourth largest US company shares
- 22:30Speaker 4: an Elon Musk's rocketbuilder surged another ten percent today as
- 22:34Speaker 4: its market caps are past Microsoft. Jack, are you shopping
- 22:37Speaker 4: Lambos with a two point nine four trillion dollar valuation?
- 22:44Speaker 2: You shopping Lambos? Jack? Look at him? Look at him,
- 22:47Speaker 2: he's rocking the company year a look at this guy,
- 22:50Speaker 2: state part owner in the company. Yeah, I would wear
- 22:53Speaker 2: my SPACEXF nine church Well.
- 22:55Speaker 4: SpaceX also soared past Amazon following its record breaking up
- 23:00Speaker 4: i PO last Friday. Still SpaceX is well short of Apple,
- 23:04Speaker 4: the third largest US company with a market value of
- 23:06Speaker 4: more than four trillion dollars.
- 23:08Speaker 2: That's going to be a kick of the nuts for
- 23:10Speaker 2: old Bezos though his rocket ships can't work. And now
- 23:13Speaker 2: Musk just passes in with his other company.
- 23:15Speaker 13: I know.
- 23:16Speaker 4: I mean, here comes another penis shaped rocket in our future.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Exactly. This guy's on one and Jeff Bezos has taking
- 23:23Speaker 2: it in the ass for this guy.
- 23:25Speaker 4: Hey, now, hey, wait a minute, I meant like first banking. Yeah, hey,
- 23:29Speaker 4: all right. Speaking of technology, this next story is pretty cool.
- 23:32Speaker 4: A new tool could help deputies communicate better with residents,
- 23:35Speaker 4: at least over in Panella's County, because that sheriff's office
- 23:39Speaker 4: recently received body camera.
- 23:40Speaker 2: Is that?
- 23:41Speaker 4: What do you think a body camera could do that
- 23:43Speaker 4: would make it easier for deputies responding to a scene.
- 23:47Speaker 2: I would tell you about the perpetrator.
- 23:49Speaker 3: That's a good guess.
- 23:50Speaker 2: Cracial recognition. Yeah, yeah, I would say. It turns on
- 23:53Speaker 2: by itself, so they don't have to leave it on
- 23:56Speaker 2: or off or worry about that. It also shoots.
- 24:00Speaker 4: Out body cameras that can translate almost sixty foreign languages
- 24:04Speaker 4: there that go. Yeah, some are already using the cameras
- 24:07Speaker 4: and with good results. Sergeant John Mullen says thanks to
- 24:10Speaker 4: the camera, he was able to effectively communicate with someone
- 24:14Speaker 4: who spoke Arabic. Otherwise, Mullen said he'd have had to
- 24:18Speaker 4: wait for someone at the Sharf's office to find an
- 24:21Speaker 4: Arabic speaker. It's the same thing. One of my best
- 24:24Speaker 4: friends is American Sign language. She'll go to court hearings,
- 24:28Speaker 4: hospital rooms and she's the interpreter for American Sign language.
- 24:31Speaker 4: If you don't have someone like that on staff, it
- 24:34Speaker 4: could be two three four. I mean hours and hours
- 24:38Speaker 4: waiting to find that person with that particular language or skill.
- 24:41Speaker 2: And when you're able to communicate, and when you're in
- 24:43Speaker 2: a stressful situation like that, you're yelling in your in
- 24:46Speaker 2: your native language that is not English.
- 24:48Speaker 3: You know, yeah, you It makes it confusing for everybody.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Officer, regardless of what the person is saying, the officer
- 24:53Speaker 2: doesn't think, you know, it is never going to think, oh,
- 24:55Speaker 2: this guy's probably telling me what his problem is and
- 24:57Speaker 2: everything's fine. You know, he's obviously yelling's you know, something
- 25:01Speaker 2: that's going to be used in a violent nature and
- 25:03Speaker 2: you don't know. Software that can almost automatically translate another
- 25:07Speaker 2: language makes Star Trek seem so much more Feasio. Now
- 25:11Speaker 2: they're able to talk to all these other alien life
- 25:13Speaker 2: for now.
- 25:13Speaker 4: If we could just get the transporter so we could
- 25:16Speaker 4: skip the whole traffic thing.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Yeah, great, let's do it.
- 25:19Speaker 4: Several public safety measures are now law following a bill
- 25:22Speaker 4: signing by Governor Ron DeSantis during a stop in winter Haven.
- 25:26Speaker 4: The bills increase penalties for repeat offenders, expand gang laws,
- 25:30Speaker 4: and add new trafficking charges for certain drugs. One of
- 25:33Speaker 4: the bills, the Officer Jason Rayner Act, strengthens protections for
- 25:38Speaker 4: law enforcement and increases penalties for attacks on officers.
- 25:43Speaker 14: Disagreements about an arrest should be settled in a courtroom,
- 25:46Speaker 14: not through violence on the street.
- 25:48Speaker 4: Now the law is named for a Daytona Beach police
- 25:51Speaker 4: officer who was shot and killed in the line of
- 25:53Speaker 4: duty in twenty twenty one. Prosecutors and the Tiger Woods
- 25:57Speaker 4: Duy Case and Martin County are signaling their intent the
- 26:02Speaker 4: subpoena Tiger's medical records from his treatment at the Cleveland
- 26:05Speaker 4: Clinic after that rollover wreck back in March. They want
- 26:08Speaker 4: to see any reports detailing anything would set about using
- 26:12Speaker 4: drugs or alcohol, the official results of any drug or
- 26:16Speaker 4: blood screens that may have been conducted and the names
- 26:19Speaker 4: of specific medical staff who performed those tests. Tiger's lawyers
- 26:24Speaker 4: have ten days to officially object.
- 26:27Speaker 2: They want medical information from after the accident before. I
- 26:32Speaker 2: think they want it from before, don't they?
- 26:36Speaker 4: After the rollover wreck is what it specifically says that
- 26:39Speaker 4: they want.
- 26:39Speaker 2: To be after, which one.
- 26:43Speaker 4: Yeah, so they want it after to see if if
- 26:46Speaker 4: when he did get treatment, because he didn't. He he
- 26:50Speaker 4: went to Europe for a treatment for rehab treatment, but
- 26:54Speaker 4: the Cleveland clinic I believe may have been the place
- 26:56Speaker 4: that treated him after the wreck, so if he had
- 26:58Speaker 4: like any kind.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Of screen done there, they won his blood test.
- 27:01Speaker 4: They wanted blood test because he refused to do those
- 27:04Speaker 4: tests on the side of the roads. So they're like, okay, well,
- 27:07Speaker 4: if you had any done at the hospital, we're going
- 27:09Speaker 4: to find those there as well.
- 27:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm gonna tell you. Golf is the Rule is
- 27:11Speaker 2: having a tough time because, I mean, their two biggest
- 27:14Speaker 2: names have become complete pos's. It's so crazy. I mean,
- 27:18Speaker 2: we all get right, Woods and Mickelson both fighting right now.
- 27:21Speaker 2: Tigers had a really tough last like eight years, nine years,
- 27:24Speaker 2: and Phil is having himself a fun trip right now.
- 27:28Speaker 2: Wild Man.
- 27:28Speaker 3: Well he should have just left that waitress.
- 27:30Speaker 2: Yeah. Will this be like Tom Brady and Pat Mahomes
- 27:32Speaker 2: being mired in uh in uh controversy like for the
- 27:36Speaker 2: for the last ten years. That's it. That's exactly what
- 27:38Speaker 2: this would be like. All right.
- 27:40Speaker 4: Well, they say to recycle, reuse, repurpose, right. Unfortunately, Brobard
- 27:44Speaker 4: County is ditching its plans to buy the former Spirit
- 27:47Speaker 4: Airlines headquarters in Dania Beach and turn it into a
- 27:50Speaker 4: government center. Commissioners didn't even vote on the purchase today.
- 27:54Speaker 4: They were told even if they did buy the sixth
- 27:56Speaker 4: story office building, they may not be able to use
- 27:59Speaker 4: it due to zoning reasons. Isn't that a bite in
- 28:01Speaker 4: the municipal lass right? Additionally, commissioners were told that there
- 28:06Speaker 4: were three corporations bidding for the property, and the county
- 28:09Speaker 4: didn't want to compete with them, but rather welcome them
- 28:12Speaker 4: to the area. Still, if they had bought the building,
- 28:14Speaker 4: they'd said, they could have saved two hundred million dollars
- 28:17Speaker 4: right off the bat by not having to build a
- 28:19Speaker 4: new government complex from scratch. Wow, all right, speaking of
- 28:23Speaker 4: a cost, the cost of hosting a summer barbecue has jumped,
- 28:26Speaker 4: so you definitely want to go to real Radio dot
- 28:29Speaker 4: FM slash ace so that you can get the latest
- 28:32Speaker 4: stanzas for the search your ACE golf contests. Oh yeah, man,
- 28:35Speaker 4: Big Green Eggs some accessories to go with eighteen So,
- 28:39Speaker 4: according to the newly released Wells Fargo, some are barbecue
- 28:42Speaker 4: food report.
- 28:43Speaker 2: There's such a thing though.
- 28:46Speaker 4: Grilling for ten people will set you back an average
- 28:49Speaker 4: of Okay, so there are something would be for all ten.
- 28:53Speaker 2: There are some questions there because you can also you
- 28:55Speaker 2: can grill hot dogs and hamburgers.
- 28:57Speaker 4: I've got that on here too, kay, dealing in Stacey.
- 29:01Speaker 4: You've got ten people. If you're gonna grill for ten people,
- 29:05Speaker 4: you're gonna spend an average of this amount.
- 29:07Speaker 3: And then I'll break it down to purpose.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Holy question is are you shopping at all? To year? Public?
- 29:12Speaker 2: I'll go question I got, I'll go eighty dollars. I
- 29:15Speaker 2: was gonna go seventy five. How about one hundred and
- 29:17Speaker 2: sixty one? Public? What are you grilling? It's public?
- 29:21Speaker 4: That's about sixteen dollars a person. The price of beef
- 29:24Speaker 4: has soared by fourteen percent this year.
- 29:27Speaker 2: You could go you could eat out cheaper.
- 29:29Speaker 4: Chicken and pork products rose three percent, while hot dogs
- 29:32Speaker 4: are up five percent.
- 29:34Speaker 2: Yeah, beef is ridiculous right now.
- 29:36Speaker 4: For the record, guys, the report says ready made sides
- 29:39Speaker 4: are also up three percent because of higher manufacturing wages
- 29:42Speaker 4: being passed on to consumers.
- 29:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm still telling you, man. I was just in
- 29:46Speaker 2: publics last night buying a couple of things and ran
- 29:49Speaker 2: by the meat department. Those file at beef ten rolling tips.
- 29:52Speaker 2: Like I tell you, the trimming parts that they put
- 29:54Speaker 2: in package is still the best deal out there for
- 29:56Speaker 2: premium beef. When you're making like stroking off or anything
- 29:59Speaker 2: like that. You can make all those dishes with that.
- 30:02Speaker 2: And the package I bought was eleven dollars, not bad,
- 30:05Speaker 2: and it was a little under a pound of filet
- 30:07Speaker 2: mignon for eleven bucks.
- 30:08Speaker 4: Well, don't cheap out this weekend because we all know
- 30:11Speaker 4: what Sunday is, right, super.
- 30:15Speaker 2: Bowl, final day of the US Open. Dummy, Come on,
- 30:18Speaker 2: Oh wait, world cop. Spoken like men, Oh it's Father's Day. Yeah,
- 30:25Speaker 2: spoken like men who don't get anything. That's what it's
- 30:28Speaker 2: spoken like. Never, it's spoken like men that get ignored.
- 30:31Speaker 4: Which is amazing because when I give you these numbers,
- 30:34Speaker 4: so Americans are expected to spend big this Father's Day.
- 30:37Speaker 4: The National Retail Federation predicts a record this amount of
- 30:41Speaker 4: money over the country will be spent on Dad's this weekend.
- 30:44Speaker 4: What number do you think it is? And do not
- 30:46Speaker 4: say a dollar fifty?
- 30:47Speaker 2: You hear that, Jack? That's two parasocks this year. Wow.
- 30:52Speaker 2: I wonder if they'll share a card. Let's see, Oh,
- 30:58Speaker 2: got that one. We'll buy one card. Everybody will sign it?
- 31:01Speaker 2: God forbid? Anybody have their own thoughts about pop?
- 31:04Speaker 15: No?
- 31:04Speaker 3: Way, really they don't.
- 31:06Speaker 2: No, I don't know. I'm just thinking it up. If
- 31:07Speaker 2: they're listening for them to feel bad. Oh gosh, I'll go,
- 31:13Speaker 2: I'll go. I'll go one hundred and seventy five dollars.
- 31:18Speaker 4: No, I'm talking like total from around the whole country.
- 31:22Speaker 4: All Americans are going to spend this amount of money collective.
- 31:25Speaker 2: Okay, God, I'll go one hundred and seventy five dollars.
- 31:29Speaker 2: Let's see, I'll go two hundred million. Oh wow, that's low,
- 31:38Speaker 2: is it? Now? Jack? I know that? Did you hear
- 31:40Speaker 2: that laugh from the person who can't control herselves ever
- 31:43Speaker 2: when stuff like this comes up? Did you hear it?
- 31:45Speaker 4: Two hundred and one million, twenty seven point nine billion dollars.
- 31:51Speaker 4: The most popular gifts are greeting cards. Yes, except you're
- 31:54Speaker 4: only going to get one.
- 31:55Speaker 2: What is the most popular Father's Day give? That's very interesting.
- 31:58Speaker 2: Pops are kind of followed by clothes thing. Yeah, yeah,
- 32:02Speaker 2: ties and socks. Here they go a special outing. No,
- 32:04Speaker 2: it's popular to buy, it's not popular to receive. Yeah,
- 32:08Speaker 2: I think you're doing the special outing thing. That's what
- 32:10Speaker 2: I think what you're doing. Yeah, they picked out a
- 32:12Speaker 2: restaurant they know I like, and I think we're gonna
- 32:13Speaker 2: go get just hammered on Margarita's.
- 32:18Speaker 4: And then gift cards because nothing says I care like.
- 32:21Speaker 2: Yeah, well, dads are so hard to buy for. My
- 32:23Speaker 2: kids know automatically, go get me golf balls, and I'll
- 32:25Speaker 2: be fine. If you buy me golf balls, I'll be
- 32:27Speaker 2: the happiest guy in the world. That's the not But
- 32:29Speaker 2: my kids actually get pissed off that I know what
- 32:32Speaker 2: I want. Oh it's golf balls again, dad. Fun. They like,
- 32:37Speaker 2: I'm telling you, ask me what I want. I'm telling
- 32:38Speaker 2: you what I want to eat is golf balls.
- 32:41Speaker 4: The things they see on Instagram with like those inside
- 32:43Speaker 4: hutting ranges and stuff like that.
- 32:45Speaker 3: Would you be interested in any of them.
- 32:47Speaker 2: They like My kids like goof gifts. I'll go get
- 32:49Speaker 2: pajamas with a picture of my face right where my
- 32:51Speaker 2: crotches or something facing inward.
- 32:54Speaker 4: Jack, what's your favorite Father's Day gift to receipt? Oh,
- 32:57Speaker 4: never mind, you can't talk about that.
- 33:00Speaker 2: The uh pajamas with Jim's face on it.
- 33:07Speaker 4: I've already got a ordered at Amazon. Jack, that should
- 33:09Speaker 4: be here Friday.
- 33:10Speaker 2: Look at that room. Who's back of the head is that?
- 33:15Speaker 4: And that concludes your JCS News.
- 33:20Speaker 2: Four seven Night four one text does at seven to
- 33:23Speaker 2: seven is zero three one. We'll find out what Jack's
- 33:26Speaker 2: dump gate questions are next.
- 33:29Speaker 14: That don't give Jim and Jack crap for not knowing
- 33:31Speaker 14: it was Father's Day. Listen, there is one single holiday
- 33:36Speaker 14: and one single event of the entire calendar year that
- 33:41Speaker 14: we don't have to remember, and we don't have to
- 33:44Speaker 14: do anything for, and we don't have to care about,
- 33:47Speaker 14: and we're not given ridiculous expectations six plus months in
- 33:51Speaker 14: advance to execute upon. It is our only singular day
- 33:55Speaker 14: of the year to forget.
- 34:00Speaker 2: What Well, so, Jimmy, you said that all you want
- 34:03Speaker 2: for five a day is Gulf wolves?
- 34:05Speaker 14: What keeps what keeps happening to the other ones who
- 34:08Speaker 14: keeps thanking them.
- 34:10Speaker 2: That's what happens. Thanks by legic question, right, he as
- 34:13Speaker 2: a legit question can get a lot of golf balls. Yeah,
- 34:16Speaker 2: what doesn't happen to him? Yeah?
- 34:18Speaker 3: I think I got you a couple of sleeves for Christmas.
- 34:20Speaker 2: You got me more than that, but that was years ago.
- 34:22Speaker 2: I mean, you use, you use them. I mean maybe
- 34:26Speaker 2: sometimes you lose him and sometimes you just use him up.
- 34:28Speaker 2: I mean I haven't bought him in a while. I
- 34:30Speaker 2: just use free ones that I get for free, use
- 34:32Speaker 2: him up. What does that mean? If you use them
- 34:34Speaker 2: and sometimes they get cut or they get marks on them,
- 34:37Speaker 2: and then sometimes you lose them sometimes eventually just jack
- 34:40Speaker 2: one in the middle of the woods. Here's another time, Hey,
- 34:45Speaker 2: Jim deb Jack.
- 34:47Speaker 16: I just thought i'd call and ask how many counties
- 34:52Speaker 16: are considered Central Florida and part of your contest.
- 34:58Speaker 3: Just curious.
- 34:59Speaker 2: It's right there in the clue. You have a great show,
- 35:02Speaker 2: all right, it's right there in the clue. And we
- 35:04Speaker 2: said it. I'm not going to say it again. And
- 35:05Speaker 2: there's also there's a rules page that lists all the
- 35:08Speaker 2: counties that you must reside in. Because you have to be,
- 35:12Speaker 2: you know, in our region and that's in the rules.
- 35:15Speaker 2: So if you go to real Radio dot FM, flash
- 35:17Speaker 2: Ace quick on rules, it has all the counties lists,
- 35:20Speaker 2: yet not that you have to reside in, Like, you
- 35:22Speaker 2: don't have to live in those counties to win the contest. Yeah,
- 35:24Speaker 2: they're not going to mail you this big green egg.
- 35:26Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I know what you're saying. What I'm saying
- 35:28Speaker 2: is it is like you can drive there from Polk
- 35:30Speaker 2: County and look for it if you want to. You know,
- 35:32Speaker 2: you don't have to live there. You better read the rules.
- 35:34Speaker 2: Said all right, well that can't be the case though, dude, right,
- 35:38Speaker 2: you want to talk about this now. The rules are
- 35:40Speaker 2: the rules. They've been the rules since we've led about Okay,
- 35:42Speaker 2: so the prize resides in those areas, but as a person,
- 35:47Speaker 2: you don't have to live in that area to win
- 35:49Speaker 2: the prize, do you, according to the rules? I will
- 35:51Speaker 2: read it says. Let's see, Kenny, the sweep stakes is
- 35:57Speaker 2: open only to individuals who are legal US I said,
- 36:00Speaker 2: it's the United States of Florida residing within one of
- 36:03Speaker 2: the following counties. Orange, Seminole, a Siola, Polpe, Bravard, Lake,
- 36:08Speaker 2: Marion Sumter Velusia. Okay, I who are eighteen years of
- 36:11Speaker 2: age or older?
- 36:12Speaker 4: Although from your from the two clues that you've given
- 36:17Speaker 4: so far, yes, someone did text us at seven seven
- 36:21Speaker 4: zero three one picking up on what one of them
- 36:23Speaker 4: was pointing out.
- 36:24Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure, I mean so that. Yeah, and we
- 36:26Speaker 2: did mention it last week when we went on the
- 36:28Speaker 2: air because Jack called me out for giving out too
- 36:30Speaker 2: much information already. But yeah, you like, yeah, the Central
- 36:34Speaker 2: Florida area is pretty self defined. If you go to
- 36:36Speaker 2: anywhere and put in the Tri County area in Central Florida,
- 36:39Speaker 2: it's gonna give you those same areas. But by the way,
- 36:42Speaker 2: that's up right now, Real Radio, dot FM, slash Ace.
- 36:45Speaker 2: The two clues are up there. They're pretty self explanatory.
- 36:47Speaker 2: And by the way, the idea of this game isn't
- 36:48Speaker 2: for us to get like lead you along. I mean,
- 36:50Speaker 2: the whole idea is for you to figure it out.
- 36:52Speaker 2: And we want someone to figure I mean, it's an
- 36:53Speaker 2: eighteen hundred dollars prize. We just don't want them figuring
- 36:55Speaker 2: it out.
- 36:56Speaker 3: On day Yeah, now, make it last till Wednesday.
- 37:00Speaker 2: To make sure the tools people get their money's worth
- 37:02Speaker 2: and they're wonderful people too. By the way, we love it.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Jack dump cake questions fire away. Okay, yet two minutes
- 37:08Speaker 2: you said it's three ingredients. It's a can of fruit basically. Yeah,
- 37:13Speaker 2: it is a bottom of mix. Yeah, and then it
- 37:16Speaker 2: is butter. That's it, all right. What kind of tray?
- 37:19Speaker 4: Is it?
- 37:20Speaker 2: Like a six by nine castorle tray? Yes, exactly, we'll
- 37:23Speaker 2: six thirteen nine thirteen nine ye castoral tray. Yeah, and
- 37:26Speaker 2: we and we use the the big can of clean
- 37:29Speaker 2: peaches that were cut and then she only used one.
- 37:31Speaker 2: She actually could have used two. Uh, but if you
- 37:34Speaker 2: want you to, you want to cover the bottom of whatever,
- 37:36Speaker 2: how many of her cans to cover the bottom of it? Okay?
- 37:40Speaker 2: And also but you're also dumping out the liquid, right, yeah,
- 37:44Speaker 2: well the peaches because they have that syrup. Yes, And
- 37:47Speaker 2: I think you can actually do it either way. I
- 37:49Speaker 2: think we dumped out at about half of it because
- 37:51Speaker 2: the syrup is actually flavor as well. And then you
- 37:53Speaker 2: put the peaches and then you just go ahead. Okay,
- 37:56Speaker 2: So all right, so maybe some syrup some of it
- 37:58Speaker 2: you get rid of. Yeah, you want to basically cover
- 38:01Speaker 2: the the nine thirteen castle track, Yeah, the bottom of it. Yes,
- 38:04Speaker 2: Pyrex Yeah, the bottom of the pirates. Okay, is it
- 38:07Speaker 2: a full package of cake mix? It is one box
- 38:10Speaker 2: of cake mix. Vanilla. Yeah, we use yellow cake mix,
- 38:13Speaker 2: yellow cake. Yeah. You could do white if you want,
- 38:15Speaker 2: but yellow's the best because it has the vanilla and
- 38:17Speaker 2: stuff in it. I mean a little bit more of vanilla, okay.
- 38:19Speaker 2: And we use Duncan Hinds. You can use any brand
- 38:22Speaker 2: you like. If you like Pillsbury, if you like King Arthur,
- 38:25Speaker 2: you could use that. Talk to me about the butter, Okay,
- 38:29Speaker 2: how much butter? And then is it softened butter? So
- 38:32Speaker 2: here's the deal. They say use a quarter of a cup.
- 38:36Speaker 2: We say, screw a quarter of a cup. We use
- 38:39Speaker 2: a half a cup of melted salted butter. And it's
- 38:43Speaker 2: melted salted butter. Right, don't use the unsalted butter because
- 38:46Speaker 2: the salt. That's one of the biggest problems with professional
- 38:50Speaker 2: desserts is or desserts that made at home, is they
- 38:52Speaker 2: don't put salt in there. You gotta put a little
- 38:54Speaker 2: salt in your sweets to make sure it doesn't get
- 38:56Speaker 2: too coiingly gummingly sweet, and and there's no contrast in
- 39:01Speaker 2: the flavor. I've been trying to tell you for years
- 39:03Speaker 2: about that important of salt. But I'm telling you, dude,
- 39:07Speaker 2: you could make these things all day long. Can cherries,
- 39:09Speaker 2: can blueberries, can pineapple, peaches. Dump it in there, spread
- 39:12Speaker 2: the cake on top of It's important, do not mix it.
- 39:15Speaker 2: That's important. You do not mix because that'll mix. It's
- 39:19Speaker 2: crazy when you put it in the oven, because you
- 39:20Speaker 2: see dry cake mix and it goes against everything you've
- 39:23Speaker 2: ever known about cooking.
- 39:24Speaker 4: So someone just texted that for that dumb cake, I'm
- 39:26Speaker 4: assuming you have to make the cake batter first. And
- 39:28Speaker 4: you're not just dumping powder on the fruit.
- 39:30Speaker 2: No, that's not you dump the powder on the fruit.
- 39:33Speaker 2: You literally take the cake out of the thing. Or
- 39:35Speaker 2: to take cake mix, you cut the bag open and
- 39:37Speaker 2: you sprinkle it over the peaches, fruit or whatever. You
- 39:41Speaker 2: don't mix it, don't do anything else. And then the
- 39:43Speaker 2: same thing with the butter. Just pour it on top
- 39:46Speaker 2: and throw it the oven. And I think a genie
- 39:48Speaker 2: comes into the back of the oven or something. I
- 39:51Speaker 2: don't know the science behind this thing, but what happens
- 39:53Speaker 2: is is as that the juice from the fruit and
- 39:56Speaker 2: the butter melt and start bubbling up. It bubbles from
- 39:59Speaker 2: the bottom and up over the corners and eventually wettons
- 40:02Speaker 2: or wets I should say, the cake mix, and then
- 40:05Speaker 2: it turns into this beautiful, crispy, sweet, crunchy top that's
- 40:10Speaker 2: on the bottom of and then you scoop it out
- 40:11Speaker 2: and you eat it with ice cream and it's delicious.
- 40:14Speaker 2: And it's like the cake mix is two dollars and
- 40:16Speaker 2: eighty nine cents a box. I think the fruit's like
- 40:18Speaker 2: a couple bucks. So you can make this damn thing
- 40:20Speaker 2: for literally eight dollars. How long are we cooking it for?
- 40:23Speaker 2: Until it's golden on the top. That's all it really matters.
- 40:25Speaker 3: So three fifty for about eighteen minutes.
- 40:27Speaker 2: Would say, eighteen to twenty two to twenty five minutes
- 40:29Speaker 2: of the very most, you're gonna get a nice crispy top,
- 40:31Speaker 2: and that's what you want. I was halfway through my
- 40:33Speaker 2: first question before I got a text from my wife
- 40:35Speaker 2: that said, not on your diet. No really, I just
- 40:43Speaker 2: got a not on your diet text for my wife.
- 40:47Speaker 2: And by the ways, be the butter use use canned fruit.
- 40:51Speaker 2: People are gonna be like, well, can I use fresh fruit? Really,
- 40:53Speaker 2: it's for canned fruit. That's what works out best, and
- 40:57Speaker 2: the pie filling actually works out fine if you use
- 40:59Speaker 2: pie filing. I find that you can do apple cobbler
- 41:01Speaker 2: with the apple pie filling because it's already got the
- 41:04Speaker 2: seasoning in there right, and it's very good as well.
- 41:07Speaker 2: But man, my favorite is peaches and blueberries. That's my favorite.
- 41:10Speaker 4: Is absolutely you cambine the two or it's just peaches
- 41:13Speaker 4: or blueberry.
- 41:14Speaker 2: Just for me, it's just peaches or blueberries. I mean
- 41:16Speaker 2: you could, you could do whatever you want. I mean,
- 41:18Speaker 2: you can turn into this. Flavors shouldn't cross, you don't. Well,
- 41:22Speaker 2: peaches blueberries actually do very well together. I don't know
- 41:24Speaker 2: that one. Ice cream sounds can canned cherries you can
- 41:28Speaker 2: do it with that one as well. Cherry cobbler is
- 41:30Speaker 2: also very good. But the most really you have to
- 41:33Speaker 2: have some ice cream. I look, I'm just telling you
- 41:36Speaker 2: gotta have a little ice cream that you gotta have
- 41:38Speaker 2: a little bit. You don't want no ice.
- 41:41Speaker 4: Cream, no, because then it touches the cakey part and
- 41:43Speaker 4: then it makes the whoa whoa.
- 41:46Speaker 2: You need that?
- 41:47Speaker 3: No, that's good, It makes it mush.
- 41:52Speaker 2: I was good.
- 41:53Speaker 4: Don't you even you over there with your nuggies and
- 41:55Speaker 4: your chickis in your listen.
- 41:56Speaker 2: Good God. I was gonna save this for a best
- 41:59Speaker 2: segment around Thanksgiving because I think this is a great
- 42:03Speaker 2: idea that people couldn't make it the dessert Now that
- 42:06Speaker 2: Dad let everyone know what a freak she is.
- 42:08Speaker 4: I don't know if I shouldn't, sweetheart, that that cat's
- 42:10Speaker 4: been out of that bag for a while.
- 42:12Speaker 2: Where you ben? How many people you think you're gonna
- 42:13Speaker 2: try this weekend? Oh? This is this is Jack is
- 42:16Speaker 2: gonna this is not Hey Dad, you're welcome. You're gonna
- 42:19Speaker 2: get cobbler this weekend're inexpensive dessert.
- 42:23Speaker 4: I mean again, you don't have to worry about breaking
- 42:25Speaker 4: the bank. It's simple, it's easy, it sounds delicious. The
- 42:27Speaker 4: kids could help.
- 42:28Speaker 2: Make That's what I was gonna say, if you I
- 42:30Speaker 2: mean the Really one of the cool things about this
- 42:32Speaker 2: is is if you have younger kids, yeah you're doing
- 42:34Speaker 2: something for Pop, they can They can get involved and
- 42:37Speaker 2: make Dad a dessert and say they did it, because
- 42:39Speaker 2: who can't empty a can of whatever into a pan.
- 42:42Speaker 2: You can also have your kids sprinkle the cake, have
- 42:45Speaker 2: one of them pour butter. When I was, when I was,
- 42:47Speaker 2: when my kids are growing up, and they wanted to
- 42:48Speaker 2: help cook. I would. I would give each of them
- 42:51Speaker 2: a task for that product. You do this with the chicken,
- 42:54Speaker 2: you do this with the vegetables. You're making the salad dressing.
- 42:57Speaker 2: And we would do that and they loved every bit
- 42:59Speaker 2: of it. Oh yeah, how do you melt butter? Because
- 43:02Speaker 2: microwaving is not an ideal way to do it, right,
- 43:05Speaker 2: I'd still microwave mind yet, know you? Yeah, okay, I'm
- 43:08Speaker 2: microwave it because it's just easier. Yeah, and I don't have
- 43:11Speaker 2: to mess up anything, all right? Four seven nineteen six
- 43:14Speaker 2: four one would you do? That's new At next you
- 43:17Speaker 2: were listening to the Jim Colbert Show.
- 43:18Speaker 1: Also available to watch at The Jim Colbert Show on YouTube.
- 43:25Speaker 9: Take culvert crew. She's just letting you know I will
- 43:29Speaker 9: do my official you know thing that sounded gross. You
- 43:33Speaker 9: didn't have men, But right now I'm waiting for mom
- 43:37Speaker 9: to get her haircut and I just got my haircut.
- 43:40Speaker 9: Now I looked like a little bit of peb harmon.
- 43:45Speaker 2: Heye.
- 43:45Speaker 13: Colbert crew just wanted to quickly say, it was great
- 43:48Speaker 13: seeing you guys on the boat.
- 43:49Speaker 3: We can't wait for the next event.
- 43:51Speaker 13: My brother in law, my husband and I we had
- 43:54Speaker 13: such a wonderful time.
- 43:56Speaker 3: Thank you so much for being awesome and have a
- 43:58Speaker 3: great day.
- 43:59Speaker 2: I seeing you again, young lady. Welcome back to the
- 44:03Speaker 2: Jim Colbert Show. We're all Radio one four point one.
- 44:07Speaker 2: I hope t Bag's mom is driving. Yeah, yeah, no
- 44:09Speaker 2: the way. We are getting so many questions about this
- 44:12Speaker 2: stupid dump cake. It's a half a cup of butter
- 44:14Speaker 2: per box of dump cake. It asks if you look
- 44:17Speaker 2: up Rusipes is gonna say a quarter cup. It's not enough.
- 44:19Speaker 2: You gotta do a have a go. I'm Jim, there's
- 44:21Speaker 2: deb hell Jack is here as well. Yeah, let's do
- 44:23Speaker 2: what you do that's new.
- 44:29Speaker 1: What you do that, what you do that Theday?
- 44:33Speaker 2: Then something to do. I need to tell us something
- 44:39Speaker 2: that's right. Closman Law k l A U s m
- 44:41Speaker 2: an Law dot com offices right there and win to
- 44:43Speaker 2: Park four oh seven nine one seven seventeen eighteen car
- 44:46Speaker 2: crash called Klausman. Of course, we'll talk to Glenn on
- 44:48Speaker 2: Thursday for Colberg Court, but until then, we'll do what
- 44:51Speaker 2: you do. That's new that happens every Tuesday on the show,
- 44:53Speaker 2: has since the onset of the program. That's where one
- 44:56Speaker 2: of the members will choose something for the others to
- 44:57Speaker 2: watch reader listen to. We will do that and then
- 45:00Speaker 2: reconvene on the following Tuesday to kind of discuss what
- 45:03Speaker 2: it was, if we liked it, did not like it,
- 45:05Speaker 2: and then move on to the next member. This is
- 45:07Speaker 2: my week, and then we'll find out what dep has
- 45:09Speaker 2: to offer here in just one second. And mine was
- 45:11Speaker 2: easy because we started watching a couple of shows, my
- 45:14Speaker 2: wife and I about two three weeks back. One was
- 45:17Speaker 2: The Burrows and the other one was what I chose
- 45:19Speaker 2: for you guys to watch for this one you do.
- 45:22Speaker 2: That's new. It was the first episode of Widows Bay,
- 45:25Speaker 2: which just got picked up for its second season, by
- 45:27Speaker 2: the way, yes it did so. And Widows Bay is
- 45:30Speaker 2: a story about an island I guess right off the
- 45:33Speaker 2: Nantucket or in that area up there and New England,
- 45:36Speaker 2: right And the whole dream of the person who is
- 45:38Speaker 2: the mayor of the city is to have it be
- 45:40Speaker 2: like a Nantucket, a real big tourist destination. The businesses
- 45:44Speaker 2: are all in. It's a small town kind of feel,
- 45:46Speaker 2: but there's something wrong and they have to figure out
- 45:49Speaker 2: how to break that and make it come alive. There's
- 45:52Speaker 2: some familiar faces. Stephen Root is part of this. We
- 45:55Speaker 2: will remember him from Office Space and from Barry, Yeah, Barry,
- 46:00Speaker 2: and from Dodgeball. Yeah, he was the nerd and Dodgeball
- 46:05Speaker 2: we figured out all the rule issues. Everybody knows who
- 46:07Speaker 2: he is, right, And then we have the guy from
- 46:11Speaker 2: The Americans, The Americans, that's it. Matthew Reese is his name.
- 46:15Speaker 2: He's the lead. He was also in The Beast in
- 46:19Speaker 2: Me Yes, which was another good show. We watched him
- 46:21Speaker 2: churned out. So what'd you guys think? So watch it
- 46:26Speaker 2: last night? What's interesting? I got halfway through and or
- 46:30Speaker 2: maybe a quarterway in, and I'm like, I thought you're
- 46:33Speaker 2: supposed to want to like the main character. And I'm
- 46:37Speaker 2: like he's a little jerky. Yeah, And I'm like, you know,
- 46:42Speaker 2: I'm like so, but I you know, we watch it.
- 46:45Speaker 2: My wife has a problem with the quote comedy slash
- 46:51Speaker 2: horror genre. And it's funny because I do as well.
- 46:55Speaker 2: This one broke my mold because of one character. Okay,
- 46:59Speaker 2: and and uh, should we guess no, go ahead, Stephen Root.
- 47:04Speaker 2: It's the woman, the blonde no, the black haired girl
- 47:08Speaker 2: that's in the office. Yeah. And by the way, the
- 47:10Speaker 2: New York Times just wrote a piece and said she
- 47:12Speaker 2: stole the show, so I left it something that their
- 47:15Speaker 2: interchange and my wife goes, what are you laughing at?
- 47:17Speaker 2: Cause it was an awful thing. But it's somewhere, uh.
- 47:20Speaker 2: She she's talking to the guy who's sleeping in bed. Yeah,
- 47:25Speaker 2: and he's like, well, I think that's You're only supposed
- 47:28Speaker 2: to talk to him if they're in the coma and
- 47:29Speaker 2: she's like, well, I guess I just wasted my time. Yeah, yeah,
- 47:32Speaker 2: d it's called a black comedy, you know, it's a
- 47:35Speaker 2: black comedy drama. And to be honest with you, I'm
- 47:37Speaker 2: with you, guys. I usually like it to be one
- 47:40Speaker 2: way or the other, but I found this to be
- 47:42Speaker 2: painfully funny. Like and by the way through the entire thing,
- 47:45Speaker 2: it's funny. Oh yeah. There is a moment I actually
- 47:49Speaker 2: literally jumped off my couch and walked away saying no, no, no.
- 47:54Speaker 2: And it was at the end of the first episode
- 47:58Speaker 2: when he is doing his best to impress a New
- 48:01Speaker 2: York Times. They're in the restaurant and you could tell
- 48:06Speaker 2: he's buying into the fact that the fog outside something
- 48:10Speaker 2: bad is about to happen. Doesn't want anyone to leave,
- 48:13Speaker 2: and in a panic moment and he screams, you know,
- 48:16Speaker 2: don't go out there. The fun is that there's something
- 48:19Speaker 2: in the phone up and I'm just like it was you.
- 48:24Speaker 2: It couldn't have been more of the worst thing to
- 48:27Speaker 2: happen for that character, for that particular time, at that
- 48:31Speaker 2: very moment, and it caused me that it was so cringey.
- 48:34Speaker 2: I actually literally jumped up my gotcha that. Yeah, because
- 48:38Speaker 2: they're building this interview up as it's gonna be the
- 48:40Speaker 2: interview that's gonna change the entire culture of the island.
- 48:43Speaker 2: It's gonna be like this is when people we're just
- 48:45Speaker 2: gonna wait by the dock because as soon as this
- 48:47Speaker 2: thing's printed, people are gonna be dying to get to
- 48:49Speaker 2: the ferry and get over the Yeah, you get a
- 48:51Speaker 2: great review in the New York Times, and suddenly you're
- 48:54Speaker 2: gonna have this great tourists down and that's what they're
- 48:58Speaker 2: pinning their hopes on. And he just has this moment
- 49:01Speaker 2: and you know, and it's you know, I'll leave it there.
- 49:05Speaker 2: What did you think?
- 49:06Speaker 4: I like the travel writer's response to that, Oh, you
- 49:09Speaker 4: want to be Salem exactly right, right right, and he thought,
- 49:14Speaker 4: you know that he was just you know, hamming it
- 49:16Speaker 4: up to try to make the the island look better,
- 49:19Speaker 4: not realizing I really liked it.
- 49:22Speaker 2: I have to tell you, I want of both of you,
- 49:25Speaker 2: and you know, and I know that Jack's wife has
- 49:27Speaker 2: a hard time with horror sometimes and there is a
- 49:29Speaker 2: there is an element of that. It's not terrible, though,
- 49:31Speaker 2: but I thought you would love.
- 49:32Speaker 4: It from the opening scene. Well, I mean from the
- 49:36Speaker 4: opening scene you knew something. You know, it's a right,
- 49:39Speaker 4: well what is that? And then when I heard and
- 49:41Speaker 4: saw the birds, I was like.
- 49:42Speaker 2: Oh, here we go. Yeah, yeah, yeah, here we go.
- 49:44Speaker 2: This is about to get real real. Yeah, there's a
- 49:46Speaker 2: story about it. And I don't even know who that actress is.
- 49:48Speaker 2: The other day I actually looked it up and got sidetracked.
- 49:50Speaker 2: I was gonna say if I could find any interviews
- 49:52Speaker 2: or any other things that she, you know, any other
- 49:54Speaker 2: project she was part of. But they talk about her,
- 49:56Speaker 2: and when when as the show goes on, you're going
- 49:58Speaker 2: to find out she is a much more pivotal character
- 50:01Speaker 2: in the in the entirety of the program that they
- 50:04Speaker 2: lead on. In the first couple of episodes, you think
- 50:06Speaker 2: she's going to be a little quirky side note, but
- 50:08Speaker 2: it's not like that at all, And dude, I gotta
- 50:10Speaker 2: tell you not.
- 50:10Speaker 4: After she shared her experience of what happened to her
- 50:12Speaker 4: and then when they trace back the history of the town,
- 50:14Speaker 4: I was like, Ah, this is going to come back
- 50:16Speaker 4: into play.
- 50:17Speaker 2: Yeah. Her name is Kate, and by the way, it's
- 50:20Speaker 2: just the beginning of her story. And one of the
- 50:22Speaker 2: reasons I thought you would love the show is her
- 50:25Speaker 2: because from what you've told me about your growing up,
- 50:29Speaker 2: her experiences on the show as they write the pro
- 50:32Speaker 2: as they write that character parallel some of the stuff
- 50:34Speaker 2: that you've told me about your childhood. So I think
- 50:37Speaker 2: that you're absolutely going to love it. Dude. It it
- 50:41Speaker 2: is a really now there's part of this thing. In
- 50:44Speaker 2: a fifth episode, fourth episode, it starts getting a little
- 50:46Speaker 2: You're like, what the hell is going on? Is it jumpy?
- 50:50Speaker 3: No good?
- 50:51Speaker 2: It gets real close. Okay, But because it's already told
- 50:55Speaker 2: you that kind of what it is, you don't expect
- 50:59Speaker 2: anything more from it, and it allows you to just
- 51:01Speaker 2: kind of go with it because usually these are shifts
- 51:03Speaker 2: that I'm like, that's the ship that usually has me Okay,
- 51:05Speaker 2: what else is on?
- 51:07Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 51:07Speaker 2: Yeah, but it did not do that this time. I
- 51:10Speaker 2: stayed with it and it paid off. This is Widow's Bay.
- 51:13Speaker 2: It's a nine episode season first season that's available on
- 51:17Speaker 2: Apple tv Plus. If you ever wonder what we're talking
- 51:20Speaker 2: about during what you Do That's new, you can always
- 51:22Speaker 2: go to Jim Culbert Live dot com. The master list
- 51:25Speaker 2: is there for everything we've reviewed back to twenty eighteen,
- 51:29Speaker 2: which is crazy, but it is right there. You can
- 51:31Speaker 2: go check it out. If you ever get in a
- 51:32Speaker 2: rut for content, man, there is there are some unbelievable
- 51:37Speaker 2: suggestion suggestion ys on those pages. So IM glad you
- 51:40Speaker 2: guys like it. Would you continue to watch it now? Yeah?
- 51:42Speaker 2: I definitely want you should, Buddy, I gotta tell you,
- 51:44Speaker 2: I think you'll. I think you'll think it's funny, and
- 51:45Speaker 2: by the way, it just gets funnier to me. And
- 51:47Speaker 2: it's really ry, dark kind of humor. There's no laugh
- 51:51Speaker 2: track or anything like that, so you really have to
- 51:53Speaker 2: pay attention to pick up on it. But the interaction
- 51:55Speaker 2: between him and her just gets better and better as
- 51:59Speaker 2: the show goes on. You guys enjoyed it? Yeah?
- 52:00Speaker 4: I also like the play on what it's like to
- 52:03Speaker 4: work with small city government.
- 52:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 52:05Speaker 4: I think even Chris would like that, because there's so
- 52:07Speaker 4: many elements where he'd be like, yep, that looks like yep,
- 52:10Speaker 4: you recognize that.
- 52:11Speaker 2: Because everybody has this bitch, and as it goes on,
- 52:14Speaker 2: you're gonna see everybody it's like, oh, this business owner
- 52:17Speaker 2: wants this and this business you're right. As a city
- 52:19Speaker 2: manager or somebody like that, they would definitely see the
- 52:21Speaker 2: parallels for sure, without a doubt. What do you have
- 52:23Speaker 2: for six week?
- 52:24Speaker 4: I have a nine minute and seventeen second video of
- 52:28Speaker 4: a man building a house out of a water tank. Okay,
- 52:33Speaker 4: so it's it's a tiny house obviously with the water tank.
- 52:36Speaker 3: What a wormhole on YouTube? This can turn into.
- 52:39Speaker 2: My wife got into the silo building thing about two
- 52:42Speaker 2: years ago.
- 52:43Speaker 4: I have always wanted since I was a child growing
- 52:46Speaker 4: up in Wisconsin.
- 52:46Speaker 3: It seemed like such wasted space.
- 52:48Speaker 4: You have automatic skylights at the top turn a silo
- 52:52Speaker 4: into a three story apartment.
- 52:53Speaker 3: How cool would that be?
- 52:54Speaker 2: This?
- 52:55Speaker 3: I mean, this would be fun if you had some property.
- 52:57Speaker 4: This is I think a really fun video for people
- 52:59Speaker 4: with kids are grandkids of a really cool project to
- 53:03Speaker 4: build like a fort, And it just kind of expands
- 53:05Speaker 4: your idea of what you could use to build.
- 53:07Speaker 2: A tiny house. Very cool, very cool.
- 53:09Speaker 4: So I'll be giving that link over to Jack and
- 53:11Speaker 4: you'll be able to find it on the Jim Culbert Show.
- 53:13Speaker 2: That's right, Jim Copert Live dot com. You can go
- 53:15Speaker 2: right there find the master list, like Jack was saying,
- 53:17Speaker 2: for what you Do That's New, you can He'll make
- 53:19Speaker 2: it so even just click right through to the content.
- 53:20Speaker 2: How long is it?
- 53:21Speaker 3: It's nine minutes in seventeen seconds.
- 53:23Speaker 2: Very nice? All right, good job. We'll check that out
- 53:25Speaker 2: for next week. For what you Do That's New? Four
- 53:28Speaker 2: oh seven nine one text us seven seven zero three
- 53:31Speaker 2: went back in a second with Emily the movie Girl.
- 53:42Speaker 13: Bradley sponsored since day one by Glenn Klausman Closmanlaw dot com.
- 53:51Speaker 2: What up, guys from Duval Duval? Whoa back up?
- 53:56Speaker 9: You need to tell me?
- 53:57Speaker 14: I can't come to Orlando from Jacksonville to look for
- 54:00Speaker 14: green Egg.
- 54:01Speaker 2: I can't get an outlier or a freaking exemption. She're
- 54:04Speaker 2: listen there for twenty five years and I can't get
- 54:06Speaker 2: an exemption. Listen, we're going to arbitration. I'm calling. I
- 54:11Speaker 2: feel personally I would see it, look at it and
- 54:15Speaker 2: look for it, and then figure it out afterwards. That's
- 54:17Speaker 2: what I would do. Yeah, yeah, I don't know. Maybe
- 54:19Speaker 2: I'll reach out to iHeart Legal see if they can
- 54:21Speaker 2: change the word on that. I think we're perfectly fine.
- 54:23Speaker 2: But I think if you want to go look for it,
- 54:24Speaker 2: you look for it. We'll figure it out after the
- 54:25Speaker 2: fat I think the key is you have to pick
- 54:27Speaker 2: up the prize in person. Yeah, they're not shipping it. Yeah,
- 54:31Speaker 2: that's the key. And I don't think anybody who have
- 54:32Speaker 2: a problem for an eighteen hundred dollars girl, that's for sure.
- 54:34Speaker 2: Thanks tools, We appreciate that. The clues up now Jim
- 54:36Speaker 2: Colbert Live dot com or a real radio dot FM
- 54:39Speaker 2: slash ace Welcome back on Jim, there's dead Hello Jack there,
- 54:42Speaker 2: let's do Emily the movie girl that sounded weird.
- 54:45Speaker 1: Her name is Emily, she likes movies. She's a girl.
- 54:51Speaker 1: It's time for Emily the movie Girl on the Jim
- 54:55Speaker 1: Colbert Show.
- 54:56Speaker 2: Given up friendly the looking girl. You can check her
- 55:03Speaker 2: out the Jim Colbert Live dot com if she gives
- 55:05Speaker 2: us her movie reviews and other content that she thinks
- 55:08Speaker 2: we should watch. How you doing, young lady, I'm doing amazing.
- 55:11Speaker 7: How are you?
- 55:11Speaker 2: I'm doing great? How is your week? And weekend.
- 55:14Speaker 7: Busy as always, Yeah, but doing great. Excited to be here.
- 55:18Speaker 7: Thanks for switching me over today so I could come
- 55:20Speaker 7: in on Tuesday instead of a Monday.
- 55:21Speaker 2: Yeah, no problem whatsoever. Man. We're always trying to get
- 55:23Speaker 2: you in to make sure that Orlando can get the
- 55:25Speaker 2: best possible reviews for the movies that are out there.
- 55:28Speaker 2: Need to know, do need to know? The hottest movie
- 55:31Speaker 2: out there right now is Disclosure Day. Yes, a lot
- 55:35Speaker 2: a lot of juice out there. And the funny thing
- 55:37Speaker 2: is do you trust any one source for a review necessarily?
- 55:44Speaker 7: I mean, I personally love to go to Letterboxed for
- 55:48Speaker 7: just quick reviews that's more user based. And then Rotten
- 55:52Speaker 7: Tomatoes is a pretty solid one because their algorithm uses
- 55:56Speaker 7: critic reviews and audience reviews to source, so I feel
- 56:01Speaker 7: like that one's a pretty good one too.
- 56:03Speaker 2: I do as well, and I stay away from the
- 56:04Speaker 2: major papers because I think that those guys can get
- 56:07Speaker 2: a little film eccentric at times and start kind of
- 56:11Speaker 2: losing their grip or losing their relationship with movie goers
- 56:14Speaker 2: nationwide and get into more cinema files kind of thing
- 56:20Speaker 2: where you're you know, you're getting the people who are
- 56:22Speaker 2: really in the movie making and stuff, and I've only
- 56:24Speaker 2: seen one bad review for the movie they got from
- 56:26Speaker 2: the BBC did not think it was good. He ready,
- 56:29Speaker 2: he called it an extended an extended episode of the
- 56:33Speaker 2: X the X Files. That was his review of that vile. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 56:37Speaker 2: Now everybody else I've said, I've read gave it pretty
- 56:39Speaker 2: good reviews. And I think even on Rotten Tomatoes it's
- 56:42Speaker 2: eighty one or I.
- 56:43Speaker 7: Think so I checked it, I think yesterday, and I
- 56:46Speaker 7: want to see it was like eighty or eighty two
- 56:48Speaker 7: or something like that.
- 56:49Speaker 2: And real quick before we get do you believe that big,
- 56:51Speaker 2: big budget films have a harder time getting great reviews
- 56:55Speaker 2: because of all the crutches used in big movies sometimes
- 56:58Speaker 2: as opposed to just dialogue with movies that are more
- 57:01Speaker 2: kind of rudimentary.
- 57:02Speaker 7: I think it's it's so hard to say because every
- 57:06Speaker 7: film is different. But we have this crazy phenomenon with
- 57:11Speaker 7: like The Avengers, Like I think of the Marvel franchise
- 57:14Speaker 7: and what what going to the movies was like when
- 57:17Speaker 7: those came out, and I just feel like that set
- 57:20Speaker 7: the standard that now everyone is trying to do that,
- 57:23Speaker 7: and when the when these producing companies try so hard
- 57:27Speaker 7: it ends up failing and they're trying to capture that
- 57:30Speaker 7: magic again, and you know, I don't think it's as successful.
- 57:33Speaker 2: And I agree, and Jack and I kind of look
- 57:34Speaker 2: at that the same way, because you know, in the
- 57:36Speaker 2: world of the Marvel movies, we found movies like three
- 57:39Speaker 2: bow Boards, Uh, three bow Boards? What was it over?
- 57:43Speaker 7: Oh oh, over Webbing ebbing. Yeah, yeah, I thought that one,
- 57:47Speaker 7: which was.
- 57:48Speaker 2: A brilliant movie. You got to like Little Miss Sunshine,
- 57:50Speaker 2: get movies like No Country for Old Man, and those
- 57:52Speaker 2: alls come out amidst the Marvel kind of thing happening.
- 57:55Speaker 2: So there's still room for movies with good movie making
- 57:58Speaker 2: and dialogue. But I agree, I think this standard for
- 58:00Speaker 2: the other big pictures kind of got out of whack.
- 58:02Speaker 7: Yeah so, but I mean people still like to go
- 58:06Speaker 7: to the movies for those even if they think it's
- 58:08Speaker 7: going to be mid Yeah, you know, and obviously a
- 58:11Speaker 7: lot of people, Yeah I'm mid. I know, I kind
- 58:14Speaker 7: of sound like gen Z right now. Millennial by the way,
- 58:19Speaker 7: millennial it. Yeah, But I will say Disclosure Day was
- 58:24Speaker 7: kind of mid for me.
- 58:26Speaker 2: Really, it wasn't.
- 58:29Speaker 7: It wasn't all bad. I gave it three out of
- 58:31Speaker 7: five stars. It it wasn't the best. I think I
- 58:35Speaker 7: just had such high standards because Spielberg is one of
- 58:39Speaker 7: the best filmmakers of our generation. Like, how lucky are
- 58:42Speaker 7: we that we get to live in a time when
- 58:45Speaker 7: Spielberg is alive in making movies. So I don't take
- 58:48Speaker 7: that lightly.
- 58:49Speaker 2: Yeah, And I agree with you because I talk to
- 58:50Speaker 2: people about this all the time, about us being able
- 58:52Speaker 2: to live in certain sports stars eras you know, we
- 58:54Speaker 2: give to see Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan, you know,
- 58:56Speaker 2: play their sports and they're the best of ever, Tom Brady,
- 58:59Speaker 2: So I know exactly what you're talking about there, and
- 59:01Speaker 2: I agree, Yeah, it's kind of while.
- 59:04Speaker 7: Yeah, and I think this one has a big mixed
- 59:09Speaker 7: bag of reviews. So I find it interesting that you're
- 59:12Speaker 7: like everything has been generally positive, because like, even the
- 59:15Speaker 7: group of friends that I went with, there were like
- 59:18Speaker 7: two people that I mean were like emotionally moved by it,
- 59:22Speaker 7: like visibly moved by it, and I was like, wow,
- 59:25Speaker 7: I'm so glad you got that out of it, and
- 59:27Speaker 7: the rest of us were like, well, I have some notes,
- 59:30Speaker 7: you know, can I.
- 59:38Speaker 3: On the horn?
- 59:40Speaker 2: Can you share some of your notes without giving anything
- 59:42Speaker 2: away in the movie.
- 59:42Speaker 7: Sure, I mean, I the first two acts are pretty clunky.
- 59:48Speaker 7: The third act there's like one scene that happens, you know,
- 59:52Speaker 7: these characters finally come together and this pivotal scene happens,
- 59:57Speaker 7: and then that till the end of the film is
- 59:59Speaker 7: really solid. Lid that should have happened much sooner in
- 1:00:02Speaker 7: the movie. It's also minimum thirty minutes too long. Oh,
- 1:00:06Speaker 7: like it's two and a half hours and it could
- 1:00:08Speaker 7: have been two hours. Yeah, Like one of my other
- 1:00:12Speaker 7: friends also said, like, oh, there were maybe one too
- 1:00:14Speaker 7: many like kind of cat and mouse chase scenes of
- 1:00:17Speaker 7: like these people trying to run away from this like
- 1:00:19Speaker 7: government agency and I and I can agree with that.
- 1:00:22Speaker 7: They could have cut maybe one of those out.
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: But is there some ET elements to this a little bit?
- 1:00:28Speaker 7: Yes, it's it's an alien movie.
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: I understand that. But because that was a big part
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: of ET about the government coming in to take the
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: you know, I mean that was you know, that's kind
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: of what he's done. Then you know what I'm saying,
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: But that was the whole idea of at is, you
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: know or ET. The government was coming in and they
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: were going to get the ET and all these lights
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: everywhere in the government. Then yeah, the government was the antagonist.
- 1:00:47Speaker 7: Yes, in the film, the government is still the antagonist,
- 1:00:50Speaker 7: or it's like a privatized government, yeah, yes.
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: Yeah, because we know it's more men in black.
- 1:00:54Speaker 7: Yeah yeah kind of yeah, And like Colin Firth's character
- 1:00:58Speaker 7: is like the head of this agency, so he's kind
- 1:01:01Speaker 7: of like the villain in this situation. But I know, yeah,
- 1:01:08Speaker 7: I mean, the thing is there really isn't much too
- 1:01:11Speaker 7: school Yeah, much to disclose, because like, I think part
- 1:01:15Speaker 7: of the problem is the first two acts, the writing
- 1:01:19Speaker 7: is trying to keep everything vague and mysterious, and it's like,
- 1:01:22Speaker 7: where do you know this is about aliens? Right exactly? Like,
- 1:01:30Speaker 7: and I understand they felt like they had to say
- 1:01:32Speaker 7: something about that because otherwise people maybe would have come
- 1:01:35Speaker 7: in thinking it's a completely different film. But yeah, I
- 1:01:40Speaker 7: also like didn't care as much about the characters as
- 1:01:43Speaker 7: I should have, especially coming from a Spielberg film. Like
- 1:01:47Speaker 7: one character story like Emily Bunt's storyline I was. I loved,
- 1:01:52Speaker 7: She's the best part of the film. Her actings. Everyone's
- 1:01:55Speaker 7: acting is incredible, Like it's no fault of any of
- 1:01:57Speaker 7: the cast. It's an a list cast, Like it's truly amazing.
- 1:02:02Speaker 7: She i loved her storyline. I wanted more of her.
- 1:02:04Speaker 7: Josh O'Connor's character, who I also love as an actor,
- 1:02:07Speaker 7: I didn't care about. I was like, okay, let's get
- 1:02:10Speaker 7: back to Emily Blunt's story.
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: And that tone is kind of set with those quiet
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: movies that she made, right, what was it? Is it
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: a quiet place?
- 1:02:18Speaker 7: Yeah? With their husbands?
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, with her husband. If you think about that
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: acting in that movie, it was kind of that sole drama,
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: feel filled kind of suspense thing, and she pulls that
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: off as well as anybody out there, and this seems
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: like a perfect vehicle for that for her. And you're
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: saying the guy didn't live up, Well.
- 1:02:34Speaker 7: It's not even that he didn't live up, it's just
- 1:02:36Speaker 7: they didn't give his character, like his his storyline anything
- 1:02:41Speaker 7: as rivenning as what Emily Blunt's character was going through.
- 1:02:45Speaker 7: So and also the entire time they're trying to eventually
- 1:02:48Speaker 7: meet up, and that should have happened much earlier because
- 1:02:51Speaker 7: it once they're together, their chemistry is amazing. That's when
- 1:02:54Speaker 7: the story really gets interesting. But it took way too
- 1:02:57Speaker 7: long to get there.
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: Really. Yeah, Okay, well, I mean there are you so
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: a C plus or a C actually yeah, just a
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: straight for uh.
- 1:03:04Speaker 7: Yeah, but some people might really like it. Like I said,
- 1:03:07Speaker 7: I had friends that were I mean literally teary eyed
- 1:03:09Speaker 7: walking out of it. So I do think some people
- 1:03:12Speaker 7: are really going to enjoy this.
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: That's the nature of nature of art to begin with,
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: is it that? Yeah? Yeah, it works that way. What
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: else you get for us?
- 1:03:19Speaker 7: I wanted to talk about maybe like one or two
- 1:03:22Speaker 7: films that if you want to go see a movie
- 1:03:24Speaker 7: for Father's Day because we have that come you know
- 1:03:27Speaker 7: that coming up this Sunday.
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: No, they don't know that and they don't care.
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: Thanks for the reminder. Hey let me let's prove this
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: right now. What are you giving your dad for Father's Day?
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: Is he listening? My dad?
- 1:03:37Speaker 7: Yeah, he's not listening. He's not listening, probably not live.
- 1:03:40Speaker 7: If he isn't, probably gonna get a text from him. No,
- 1:03:43Speaker 7: my mom's probably listening though. I mean it's fine if
- 1:03:47Speaker 7: he is listening. I got him a hat. Actually, yes,
- 1:03:50Speaker 7: it's like it's from Actually it's from this.
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: Uh Is it a red hat?
- 1:03:54Speaker 5: No?
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: Not definitely not.
- 1:03:58Speaker 5: No.
- 1:03:58Speaker 7: There's this site I really like called super Yucky and
- 1:04:01Speaker 7: they do film It's like a small shop in l
- 1:04:03Speaker 7: A and they do all film stuff and they came
- 1:04:04Speaker 7: out earlier this year for the anniversary of Princess Bride
- 1:04:08Speaker 7: line and so it's a really cool embroidered hat that
- 1:04:12Speaker 7: says as you wish on it, and I was like,
- 1:04:13Speaker 7: that's ok. And he loves hats. Yeah, so that's what
- 1:04:16Speaker 7: I got him. Well, so yeah, it'speaking of movies. Okay,
- 1:04:20Speaker 7: so two of the things and this first one I'm
- 1:04:22Speaker 7: really hoping it's still in theaters so I will try
- 1:04:25Speaker 7: to go see it with him if it's still in theaters.
- 1:04:28Speaker 7: Is power Ballad, which nobody I feel like has heard of.
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: Awesome.
- 1:04:35Speaker 7: I really really liked this movie. I loved it. I
- 1:04:39Speaker 7: saw it opening weekend, so it's actually been a couple
- 1:04:41Speaker 7: of weeks. And at first I was like, why was
- 1:04:45Speaker 7: this released beginning of June? It's literally the perfect Father's
- 1:04:49Speaker 7: Day film. And then I was looking at like, what's
- 1:04:51Speaker 7: coming out this weekend? I was like, oh, Toy Stories
- 1:04:53Speaker 7: coming out.
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: And how I got introduced to that movie is I got?
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: I got? I got a clickbaited by a line that
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: said there's a movie out there that you've got to
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: see this weekend, and it's not what you think it is,
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: you know, making it believe that everybody wants to say
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: it's disclosure Day. And it turned out to be this
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: movie power Ballad.
- 1:05:13Speaker 7: Yeah, I really really loved this. I love any movies
- 1:05:17Speaker 7: that revolve around music the creative process. And I know
- 1:05:23Speaker 7: that may not be appealing to everybody, but even just
- 1:05:26Speaker 7: for people that aren't in the industry, to get a
- 1:05:28Speaker 7: peek behind the curtain of what that process can be
- 1:05:31Speaker 7: like for a creative person, I just find that so
- 1:05:34Speaker 7: forever fascinating. But the director is John Carney, and he
- 1:05:38Speaker 7: has the sort of theme a little bit in his
- 1:05:40Speaker 7: other movies he did like Once and singh Street, which
- 1:05:43Speaker 7: are two of the best films of all time, especially Once,
- 1:05:46Speaker 7: Like I love, love, love that movie. So if you
- 1:05:49Speaker 7: haven't seen Once, you absolutely should. But this stars Paul
- 1:05:53Speaker 7: Rudd and Nick Jonas. Yeah, and it's about this like
- 1:05:57Speaker 7: washed up musician that was in an up and coming
- 1:06:00Speaker 7: and he sort of drops everything to get married and
- 1:06:03Speaker 7: have a family and now he's a musician in a
- 1:06:07Speaker 7: wedding band and he's still this sort of like creative
- 1:06:10Speaker 7: wanna be musician And at one of the weddings he
- 1:06:14Speaker 7: meets Nick Jonas's character who is kind of like Nick
- 1:06:18Speaker 7: Jonas playing himself. He's like like in a huge boy
- 1:06:21Speaker 7: band turned solo artist, and he's just trying to make
- 1:06:25Speaker 7: it as big as he can as a solo artist.
- 1:06:27Speaker 7: And they end up after the wedding having this like
- 1:06:30Speaker 7: jam session and he's like helping him tweak music and
- 1:06:34Speaker 7: all this stuff, and they just really have this amazing
- 1:06:36Speaker 7: like creative connection. And then six months goes by and
- 1:06:40Speaker 7: Paul Rudd sees that Nick Jonas's character has taken one
- 1:06:45Speaker 7: of his songs and released it and not given him
- 1:06:47Speaker 7: any credit for him. Yeah, but what's interesting is that,
- 1:06:53Speaker 7: you know, some of the first avenues he tries to
- 1:06:55Speaker 7: go about of like hey, like what can I do
- 1:06:59Speaker 7: to to he can't find any sort of evidence, like
- 1:07:04Speaker 7: no demo, recording, nothing music, you know, even even people
- 1:07:10Speaker 7: like his his family, his other musician friends, like, hey,
- 1:07:12Speaker 7: don't you remember me singing this song for you? And
- 1:07:14Speaker 7: they're like, oh, maybe I don't know you like sing
- 1:07:17Speaker 7: you know, you play stuff for us all the time.
- 1:07:20Speaker 7: And I think it's a very interesting thing to say
- 1:07:22Speaker 7: about when the creative process and ownership. Yeah, and how
- 1:07:28Speaker 7: maybe especially in a collaborative process, you need to be
- 1:07:30Speaker 7: careful about, you know, how to take ownership of that,
- 1:07:34Speaker 7: how to how to uh put down on paper or
- 1:07:38Speaker 7: put demos. You know, you don't think about that when
- 1:07:40Speaker 7: you're jamming out and sort of stuff.
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: It's so funny. I follow a girl online. She's married
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: to an old artist named Steven Bishop, who made who
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: wrote two or three hits back in the eighties, but
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: they were gigantic hits. One was sung by Phil Collins
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: and another one was somebody else, and they made this
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: guy a bunch of money. And she goes online and
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: talks about exactly what you're talking about, how artists have
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: been screwed over by not doing this or not paying
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: attention to this. And her channel is painfully fascinating. So
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: this is right up that album.
- 1:08:05Speaker 7: Yeah, actually, I would love to look up more about that,
- 1:08:08Speaker 7: because again, you don't think about that when you're just oh,
- 1:08:12Speaker 7: I like this chord and everything. And even like, you know,
- 1:08:15Speaker 7: when friends of his are questioning Paul Rudd's character of like, well,
- 1:08:19Speaker 7: are you really sure that that was your song? And
- 1:08:22Speaker 7: he's like, no, like I wrote that song, you know, yeah,
- 1:08:26Speaker 7: we had some jams sessions back and forth. But anyway,
- 1:08:30Speaker 7: surprisingly there's this very pivotal scene and I won't give
- 1:08:34Speaker 7: anything away. That happens like kind of towards it's like
- 1:08:37Speaker 7: the third act, and it changed to me. It changes
- 1:08:41Speaker 7: the meaning of the film and it goes from good
- 1:08:42Speaker 7: to great, and that's what made it. I was like,
- 1:08:44Speaker 7: this is a Father's day movie.
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: Oh, very nice.
- 1:08:46Speaker 7: This is so good. So if you love Paul Rudd,
- 1:08:50Speaker 7: if you love music like it also kind of reminded
- 1:08:53Speaker 7: me of the of the rom com music and Lyrics Yeah,
- 1:08:57Speaker 7: which had Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore in it. I
- 1:09:00Speaker 7: really loved that and it kind of gave me the
- 1:09:02Speaker 7: same vibe. Awesome, it's a fun time. It's it's considered
- 1:09:05Speaker 7: a musical comedy.
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: All right, very nice, So we have a disclosure day
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: was a C three out of five stars, and you
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: strongly suggest yeah, power Bella.
- 1:09:13Speaker 7: I gave it four out of five stars.
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: Awesome, man, that's great. All right, good, that's great news, man,
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: So good job this week. We love it. What's coming
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: up first next week? What are you remw Next week?
- 1:09:22Speaker 7: I'm going to talk about toy Story five and Leviticus,
- 1:09:24Speaker 7: which is a crazy duo. Oh really well, becauseros Story
- 1:09:29Speaker 7: five is like a kid's movie, and then is a
- 1:09:33Speaker 7: is LGBTQ horn film?
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: Oh is it really? Haven't heard of it? No, No,
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: that's awesome. Well very good. Yeah, always good seeing you
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: to be here. Got a compliment here It says the
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: movie Girl is totally right on Disclosure Day. Saw its Saturday,
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: and it was hard to watch and so slow. We
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: were hoping Et would show up and save the day exactly.
- 1:09:55Speaker 7: There were no Easter eggs with his other alien movies.
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: Anyway, Thanks simbly always, thank you all right for seven
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: nine one text us seven seven zero three one back
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: in a second with more than Jym Cober Joe.
- 1:10:12Speaker 17: Do you all still do things that you learn when
- 1:10:14Speaker 17: you were young and then you found out later that
- 1:10:17Speaker 17: they weren't true, Like going swimming.
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: After eating a minute.
- 1:10:21Speaker 17: You gotta wait or you'll get the cramps.
- 1:10:23Speaker 2: Yeah. I was thinking about it because.
- 1:10:24Speaker 17: Every time I showed off, right before I shut off
- 1:10:26Speaker 17: my truck, I turned the air conditioner off, because my
- 1:10:29Speaker 17: dad always told me, I may sure I turned the
- 1:10:31Speaker 17: air conditioner off. It's hard on the air conditioning, yeah,
- 1:10:34Speaker 17: hard on the electronic, but sure enough, right before I
- 1:10:37Speaker 17: turned the truck off, I turned down the air conditioner.
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: You know what I gotta tell you, I do not know.
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: I don't know if that's true or not. I mean,
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: I've heard that my entire life. I've never adhered to
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: it with any vehicle I've ever owned. Nobody I know
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: has ever done that. And no, it's I mean, we
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: don't know if it costs anything or not, because we've
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: never not done it, you know what I'm saying. Yeah,
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: but nowadays, I think it's a moot point because it's
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: all the electronics. It's like you just have it on auto.
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: It turns on and off by itself. And if I
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: wonder if the AC compressor, like the compressor itself was
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: the issue because you didn't want to put too much
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: strain on the starter to not only turn the motor over,
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: but also you know, the compressor for the AC as well.
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: I'm not really sure, but I would think modern day
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: electronics would prevent that from happening, like focusing you know,
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: the energy where it needs to be at startup and
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: then allowing the other devices to power up. Yeah. I
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: don't know, man, I've just never adhered to that. I
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: don't know anybody that ever did. But I heard it
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: my entire life all right four seven nine six four
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: one text us seven seven zero three one. Welcome back
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: to the Jim Colbert Show. I am Jim. There's deb hello,
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: and Jack is here as well. Yeah, we do have
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: It's Only Money coming up a little bit later in
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: the show six fifteen. Reg Rossler will actually join us today.
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: Cool Bratcher is out doing baby stuff and Scott is
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: on vacation, and we will talk to Greg Rossler. Who
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: is there? Is it? He's there? So security and medicare Yeah,
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: so security medicare expert. Yeah, very nice. So I'm guessing
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: that will be what we'll be covering today in the
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: six fifteen segment with Its Only Money. You know what
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: is in the news everywhere right now? And I can't
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: figure out why? Why is every single news site that
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: I've been visited today have a jelly Roll and Bunny
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: XO getting divorced as a top story. Why is that
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: a big deal? Slow news day? I mean, I guess
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: it must be Bunny. Let me tell you. It's everywhere, BBC, NPR,
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: CBS News, Reuter's, the AP. It is everywhere, and I
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: cannot figure out why. Today I learned jelly Roll was married. Good? No, Yeah,
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: this bunny XO. First time I heard it earlier today,
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: and I'm like, oh, okay, And I guess she's like
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: a like a soft porn and I hate using that
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: word if it's not accurate, but shot think she's done
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: some adult stuff or is stripped or something like that.
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: I've heard other people use turn prostitute, so I'm not
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: sure what to deal. Was she a hooker? I don't know. Okay,
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: that's what I've heard. That's a fair question, I guess
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: it is. Did they say can I tell you? I
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: didn't bother to read any of the stories? Did they
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: give a reason of why they're divorcing? And does anybody
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: know why this is so important? I mean, is this
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: guy like I know he has one song? Right? Like
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: one or two songs?
- 1:13:25Speaker 18: No?
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: No, no, no, even I know that he has a few
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: more than does he really? I don't know, man, I'm
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: not a jelly roll guy. His teeth made me uncomfortable.
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: I remember when he first a few years ago. He
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: was at Earthday birthday. Yeah, and it was before he
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: really broke and he was just nice, affable, available, would
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: talk to people. He was all over the places. It
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: was very cool to be around Yeah.
- 1:13:48Speaker 4: So the couple met in twenty fifteen, renewed their vows
- 1:13:52Speaker 4: in twenty twenty three after secretly marrying in Las Vegas
- 1:13:55Speaker 4: in twenty sixteen. Okay, so I'm continuing to read, so
- 1:13:59Speaker 4: keep talking.
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: Yeah, they've been married like I guess nine or ten
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: years or whatever, and.
- 1:14:02Speaker 4: They've broken up several several times, which is another reason.
- 1:14:05Speaker 4: Why why is this a big story?
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: I don't get it. And like when you look at
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: jelly Roll, and I don't mean to rag on him
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: or anything like that, I mean the size. I don't
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: care about his size. There are a lot of big dudes.
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: Of Teddy Swims is a big guy. There are a
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: lot of big guys anymore. I've not seen Teddy Swims lately.
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: Illy jelly Roll is. Yeah, all the pictures I saw
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: today online with him, he was still fat.
- 1:14:26Speaker 4: Oh No, he's a GLP one dude, half a jelly Roll.
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: Yeah. But I mean you look at his teeth and like,
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: obviously they're like veneers and stuff, but it's that all
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: of his body says meth, but his teeth say California.
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: I mean, it's wild to have that that set of
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: veneers in that face, you know, in that package there.
- 1:14:45Speaker 3: Oh, I think he's easier to look at than a
- 1:14:47Speaker 3: Post Malone.
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: Oh yeah, Post looks terrible. Post looks like an alien,
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: you know, yeah, Post, I don't know, it's almost Oh
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: my god. He did lose a lot of weight. Yeah,
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: good lord, dude, how much weight did that guy? I
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: lose three hundred pounds.
- 1:15:02Speaker 4: Which is amazing because he opened up after he lost
- 1:15:04Speaker 4: the weight about the fact that they could now really
- 1:15:07Speaker 4: enjoy an intimate life together because before, when he was
- 1:15:10Speaker 4: so heavy, it was physical gymnastics.
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: To be able to get down, to be able to
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: get down.
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: So yeah, she doesn't look like a prostitute at all. Though. Wow, man,
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: he did lose a lot of weight. He had to
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: have been tipping four hundred pounds at one point. He
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: probably lost and twenty pounds. I mean, he still has
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: to weig a couple hundred pounds there. But good gracious,
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: that's a lot of weight. A lot. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: I don't get the jelly roll thing. Man, he never
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: hit me. I don't know, but I gotta tell you
- 1:15:39Speaker 2: that relationship is everywhere for some reason. She's a podcast
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: called Dumb Blonde. Okay, okay, very dumb Blonde podcast. How
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: old are they Jack? How old is a jelly Roll
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: these days? And how old is Bunny xo? Any Bunny?
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: I mean they look perfect together. I mean they literally
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: looked like they should be together.
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: See Bunny XO is forty six years.
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: Old, okay and jelly Roll is forty one Okay. He
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: and he did time, right, he did some time for
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: like drugs and stuff like that. I believe in jail
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: but not prison. Okay, there you go, Well, there you go. Well,
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: I mean I hope it all works out for him.
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: Jason Bradley Ford that's his name. Yes, very nice. Well,
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: I mean if you say he's a nice guy, he's
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: a nice guy. Look, I don't have anything. I would
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: say that the people who I know who talked to
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: him that day and got to meet him, and that
- 1:16:32Speaker 2: they reported nothing but good things and the other he
- 1:16:35Speaker 2: has a few hit songs. Yeah. The thing is, I
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: just couldn't understand why it was such a prevalent story
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: this morning, because I mean again, I because I don't
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: listen to his music. I don't care about his career.
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: It's he's not kind of on my radar. I don't
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: pick nothing I do or watch or read has jelly
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: roll as part of it. So it was just kind
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: of weird going online today to pull the show and
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: seeing like literally every website I went to, this was
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: one of the lead stories that these guys weren't together anymore.
- 1:17:01Speaker 5: So.
- 1:17:01Speaker 4: Bunny XO was a high end escort who reportedly said
- 1:17:05Speaker 4: she had sugar daddies who gave her half a million dollars.
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: Oh, there you go. What do you think his net
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: worth is? So he's been hot for like what five six,
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: seven years now something? Is that the thing he's been
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: around for that about that long? Yeah, don't go crazy, Yeah, no,
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: I'm not going to I'd say maybe fifteen twenty million,
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: twenty million, Ye, yeah, i'd say about that. Yeah, you
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: don't make that big money as a litter on the
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: road when you're publishing kicks in where you can, you know,
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: because the record companies make you like take other people's
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: songs sometimes the songwriters on their staffs. Have they been
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: together a lot? Were they married a while? I was
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: there a previe involvement.
- 1:17:39Speaker 3: They were married in twenty sixteen, so probably not?
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: Probably not?
- 1:17:44Speaker 4: Yeah, Now I don't know if they changed that when
- 1:17:46Speaker 4: they renewed their vows in twenty twenty three, but he
- 1:17:49Speaker 4: wasn't that big yet in twenty twenty three.
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: That's a really good point out. I've never thought of that, Like,
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: he wouldn't have definitely wouldn't have had access well theoretically
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: wouldn't have had access to like the power attorneys that
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: would have told him, Hey, look, you know you probably
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: want to knop up on this because E want on
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: this because of not it's gonna be say Bunny XO XO,
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: money signed, money signed, money signed in twenty sixteen before
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: he's a big deal. Push you three hundred pounds he
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: does land Bunny XO, Yeah, yeah, teresting Yeah, funny huh,
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: funny bunny, funny bunny all right? Four to seven nine
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: one six skills somewhere one four one text does at
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: seven seven zero three one. What do you think the
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: most covered rock songs in the world? Are you think
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: you could pick them out? If I said, hey, give
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: me a list of the most covered songs out there,
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: do you think you could know them? It's an interesting
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: little thing. I'll tell you about it next. Coolber Crew.
- 1:18:43Speaker 7: It's Sarah.
- 1:18:43Speaker 3: Hello, guys, what's up?
- 1:18:45Speaker 13: So?
- 1:18:45Speaker 10: I have a concert coming up? It is strained. They're
- 1:18:48Speaker 10: playing July temp and I'm super excited. It's my second
- 1:18:50Speaker 10: time to see them. I don't know their hot topic
- 1:18:53Speaker 10: kind of concert is Hanson, so I've seen them a
- 1:18:56Speaker 10: second two times. Excuse me, and let me tell you
- 1:18:59Speaker 10: they are asked professionals. They throw down a amazing.
- 1:19:03Speaker 3: Shell but good stuff.
- 1:19:08Speaker 19: You know, Jimmy, I used to invest in houses and lots.
- 1:19:12Speaker 19: Well that's four houses and lots of beer. Let dead
- 1:19:17Speaker 19: joke kill all right.
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: Look the Jim Gober showed Lady one O four point one. Jim,
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: there's deb Hello. Jack is here as well. Hansen, Yeah, Hanson.
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: You know he's a big man. Hansen. Who's that Ryan Holmes?
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: Is he really he is? Wow? Yeah, trying to make
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: those connect you know what the funny thing is, I
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: really don't know much about what he's into. I mean,
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: I know he's a great guy. I know he's one
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: of the funniest dudes. And he you know, he's he's
- 1:19:46Speaker 2: eccentric a little bit. But I didn't know he was
- 1:19:48Speaker 2: a handsOn guy. That's kind of interesting. Yeah, and I
- 1:19:50Speaker 2: hear they are a pretty tight band in concert. Yeah,
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: I mean we theyd been places there were kids right
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: about that? All right, Uh, it's funny the color kind
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: of you know, kind of foreshadowed what's going on here.
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: So this is a Yahoo Life story and if you
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: want to check that out, you can, and it basically
- 1:20:09Speaker 2: is tapping into the science of dad jokes. Now, if
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: you wonder what dad jokes is, they open the story
- 1:20:16Speaker 2: with one when does a When does a joke become
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: a dad joke? When it when it becomes apparent? And right?
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: And there are tons of those, And it's funny that
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: you mentioned that, right, Do you remember that period of
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: time when like dad jokes got a bunch of guffaws?
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: Remember when Ross first got on the show and we
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: would dad joke. I mean he would kind of roll
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: his eyes a little bit as he's a real professional
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: and eating up that low hanging fruit, and dad jokes
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: are just low hanging fruit, right for the masses. Well,
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: let me tell you, man, what's happened here is this
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: And this is a really interesting story. This guy went
- 1:20:54Speaker 2: on and did some stuff on Reddit. Then he came
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: up with another psychological kind of over of how important
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: these little jokes are to us as a species. And
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: one of the things he found out is the psychology
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: of humor, He goes, humor does play an important role
- 1:21:09Speaker 2: in our health, relationships, and well being. That's what his
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: research showed. Studies often have focused on the physical response
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: to humor, which is the laughter, but what they don't
- 1:21:18Speaker 2: really pay attention to. And what his kind of studies
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: focused on was what it does to us psychologically, not
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: just the laugh like Jack bust out laughing at that,
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: but look what it did to him, he smiled, his
- 1:21:28Speaker 2: body language change. I don't know if you noticed that
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: it did. I watched you sit up a little higher.
- 1:21:33Speaker 2: You're paying attention, almost like you want another one kind
- 1:21:36Speaker 2: of thing, right. But they also found out as this,
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: you can be in a room with a bunch of
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: different people and you know, we've talked about this, like
- 1:21:44Speaker 2: you could have electricians, drywallers, landscapers, bankers, professional teachers, professors,
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: ceo corporates, c suite people. It doesn't really matter, dad
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: jokes don't know anything about that. They don't understand anything
- 1:22:01Speaker 2: about that. And that's why it's kind of an international
- 1:22:04Speaker 2: language for people to feel better. And it's also what
- 1:22:07Speaker 2: they found out was a little test of how other
- 1:22:10Speaker 2: people feel about certain kinds of humor. It's almost like
- 1:22:13Speaker 2: a personality test. Like if I tell that joke and
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: Ross is here, Ross doesn't laugh at it. Jack Giffald
- 1:22:19Speaker 2: went crazy over you laughed as well. And I love
- 1:22:21Speaker 2: these things. I can't get enough of them. There's a
- 1:22:24Speaker 2: two guys who do this online. They're two like dad dudes,
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: are probably in their mid forties, and they sit on
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: the end of a dock and they sit in these chairs.
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: They have glasses on and they're facing each other and
- 1:22:35Speaker 2: they just kind of they have dad joke battles and
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: they're just hilarious everyone. But it's so funny that it's
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: gone more from just being something to get a laugh.
- 1:22:46Speaker 2: That's something that you can actually use to get a
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: room on your side. And they said even the ones
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: that bomb work, Like even if you tell a dad
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: joke and it bombs, the people who you bombed in
- 1:22:58Speaker 2: front of still appreciate the fact that you took a
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: shot at making them laugh or feel good, and it
- 1:23:03Speaker 2: has this incredibly positive effect on everybody around them. When
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: you start telling these things.
- 1:23:08Speaker 3: Do you use dad jokes to open up a room?
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: Oh? You know what, I if I could remember one.
- 1:23:12Speaker 2: I use them all the time. But the thing is
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: I don't remember a bunch of them, but they do
- 1:23:18Speaker 2: work every single time. This story is kind of fascinating. Guys,
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: I'm telling you this. This is the guy who did
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: this with Pepperdine University. They call it mirth. Of course,
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: nobody knows what that is. The emotional uplift of humor,
- 1:23:29Speaker 2: and it says, even when a joke doesn't elicit a
- 1:23:33Speaker 2: you know, a response, is ays people will still experience
- 1:23:35Speaker 2: the benefit of being uplifted by it. In other words,
- 1:23:38Speaker 2: another human being did something to try to make me
- 1:23:41Speaker 2: feel better, and it cost him nothing. It costs me nothing.
- 1:23:45Speaker 2: It was just some humanity coming out and an attempt
- 1:23:48Speaker 2: to communicate with somebody you do not know.
- 1:23:50Speaker 4: Does that mean this weekend you are going to pepper
- 1:23:52Speaker 4: your kids with one dad joke after another while telling
- 1:23:55Speaker 4: them it's good for them.
- 1:23:57Speaker 2: This thing is littered with them too. One says uh,
- 1:24:00Speaker 2: It says uh. A dad joke is like this. When
- 1:24:02Speaker 2: a kid says, Dad, I'm hungry, the dad says, hi,
- 1:24:04Speaker 2: I'm high hungry, I'm dad, that's uh. When when guy
- 1:24:10Speaker 2: says I was wondering why the frisbee kept getting bigger
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: and bigger, then it hit me how do you catch
- 1:24:18Speaker 2: how do you catch a unique bird? Unique up on it?
- 1:24:22Speaker 4: Oh ah, why does the Danish military put barcodes on
- 1:24:28Speaker 4: it ships so they can Scandinavian.
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: Killing Jack? By the way, but I check but check
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: this out. So Jack's laughing his ass off. I think
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: here's hilarious too. You're not really reacting to it that much,
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: but you're still smiling. Oh of course. Yeah. So this
- 1:24:46Speaker 2: kind of goes back to this whole idea of the
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: dad joke having the ultimate place and like, you know,
- 1:24:51Speaker 2: for people out there, like and the guy was mentioning
- 1:24:53Speaker 2: obviously his big tea. Now it's kind of taking it
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: upon himself to be the dad joke. Guy calls in
- 1:24:58Speaker 2: at least once a day, I think, and drops a
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: ad joke on us, and I absolutely love it, Like
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: I can't get enough of it because it's an easy
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: laugh and they're usually pretty clever. But the tool that
- 1:25:08Speaker 2: is used by these and the way that that guy
- 1:25:10Speaker 2: wrote this story is fascinating. Well.
- 1:25:12Speaker 4: I think part of the reason why they work is
- 1:25:14Speaker 4: that they're the most innocuous jokes, right, and there is
- 1:25:18Speaker 4: no victim to a dad joke exactly, There's no one
- 1:25:21Speaker 4: being laughed at yeah, one hundred percent of it's usually
- 1:25:24Speaker 4: a play on words or an experience for dads. But
- 1:25:28Speaker 4: they're fun and kind of effervescent without them being cruel
- 1:25:32Speaker 4: or mean or it's not going to make anyone feel
- 1:25:35Speaker 4: uncomfortable in the room.
- 1:25:36Speaker 2: It's not a matter of fact, they say right here,
- 1:25:37Speaker 2: It's like topics such as nature, health care, and money resonated,
- 1:25:40Speaker 2: whereas those about politics, religion, and war did not. It
- 1:25:43Speaker 2: says people are so different in what they find funny,
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: and that's why they believe that these dad jokes are
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: a really good precursor to find out kind of where
- 1:25:50Speaker 2: you stand with people. If you don't know them and
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: you're in mixed company, tell a joke druple, a joke
- 1:25:54Speaker 2: that has a certain topic in it. If people do
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: not react to it, it still could be funny to them.
- 1:25:59Speaker 2: But you find that maybe that's a that's a part
- 1:26:01Speaker 2: of their life they don't they don't like. Find you
- 1:26:03Speaker 2: know that they can make a joke out of and
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: it's like kind of almost like a litmus test of
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: the people you're around.
- 1:26:09Speaker 4: I wonder, though, how the dad joke would be received
- 1:26:14Speaker 4: if it weren't delivered by a dad. Oh no, a woman, Like,
- 1:26:18Speaker 4: would the dad joke land the same if it's a
- 1:26:20Speaker 4: woman doing the dad joke versus.
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I don't. I don't really know. It doesn't
- 1:26:25Speaker 2: really go into who delivers the joke. I think it's
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: just the style of the joke. Is these like like this,
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: did you hear about the two thieves or stole a calendar? Yeah,
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: they both got six months. Boom boom, I'm killing this
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: guy and you've already and you've already walked out to
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: get a drink. I'm murdering joke and you just left
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: the room.
- 1:26:47Speaker 3: Several times.
- 1:26:49Speaker 2: If a thinker it says.
- 1:26:52Speaker 4: Oh, somebody said, Jimmy gets rid of rabbits with hair remover.
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: Oh, how do you follow Will Smith in the snow?
- 1:27:02Speaker 2: I don't know. You followed the fresh prince? What's blue
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: and smells like red paint? Blue paint. But the thing
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: is is like these are great little like they're a
- 1:27:20Speaker 2: little tells of like if you're with people, you know,
- 1:27:24Speaker 2: let's say you're having a meeting with a new client
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: or something like that, or you're a dad show dude,
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: I would do that. Look if that was my tool
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: and I didn't have other tools of my personality to
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: start conversations. I would use it as a second are
- 1:27:36Speaker 2: you kidding? And it's also when the situation present itself. Yeah, sure, yeah.
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: One guy says here like so long boiling water, you
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: will be missed. Oh missed im. Oh they're so clever.
- 1:27:50Speaker 2: It says, there are a few studies on dad jokes themselves.
- 1:27:53Speaker 2: This guy's been analyzing them to determine what makes some
- 1:27:55Speaker 2: of them funnier than others. And he preprinted this book
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: called What's Brown and Sticky? And it's a stick But
- 1:28:03Speaker 2: he goes on to tell and what he's learned by
- 1:28:05Speaker 2: kind of studying these dad jokes and this whole culture
- 1:28:08Speaker 2: of this is that people love them for one thing,
- 1:28:11Speaker 2: and secondly, it is a great tail tell on personality.
- 1:28:14Speaker 2: He's like, if you're, like I said abo one hundred
- 1:28:16Speaker 2: times already, if you're at a dinner and you're having
- 1:28:18Speaker 2: a hard time starting a conversation because maybe your skill
- 1:28:21Speaker 2: set doesn't kind of match what the conversation's happening, that
- 1:28:24Speaker 2: you could kind of slide one of these things in
- 1:28:26Speaker 2: and have some fun with it, and and it will
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: give you an idea of kind of people you're around
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: at that particular time, which I found kind of interesting.
- 1:28:33Speaker 3: Well, you're gonna love the texting service because they're loading up.
- 1:28:36Speaker 9: Oh.
- 1:28:36Speaker 4: A Stormtrooper family was having wookie snakes steaks. The young
- 1:28:40Speaker 4: stormtrooper asked the father stormtrooper what the wookie steak tastes like.
- 1:28:45Speaker 4: The stormtrooper father said, Oh, they're all right, but they're
- 1:28:47Speaker 4: a little chewy.
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: Did you hear about it? Did you hear about the
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: explosion of the cheese factory in France? Yeah, debris was everywhere.
- 1:28:59Speaker 2: There's a joke. What's Forrest Gump's Facebook password? I don't
- 1:29:05Speaker 2: know one, Forrest one. But the funny thing is is, like,
- 1:29:12Speaker 2: here's the funny. I think there's a limit, Like, do
- 1:29:14Speaker 2: I think you could sit for half an hour and
- 1:29:16Speaker 2: fire one liner after one liner in each other's face. No,
- 1:29:19Speaker 2: but in a short blast of just something to be fun,
- 1:29:23Speaker 2: I think it works great.
- 1:29:24Speaker 4: Why does a little mermaid wear seashells? I don't know,
- 1:29:27Speaker 4: because she's too small for d shells?
- 1:29:30Speaker 2: Oh my god. Yeah, that's the topic of the story.
- 1:29:38Speaker 2: Says Science suggests cringe worthy dad jokes may serve a
- 1:29:42Speaker 2: real purpose and it kind of tells you about like
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: the dad jokes. But the last part of it is
- 1:29:46Speaker 2: is the psychology of humor and how that dad jokes
- 1:29:49Speaker 2: or a joke of that nature, like a little one liner. Yeah,
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: can be a real tool for people who have a
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: hard time creating conversation out of nowhere. You know, I've
- 1:29:58Speaker 2: been doing this for a long time, so it's easy
- 1:30:00Speaker 2: for me to start a conversation out of nowhere with
- 1:30:02Speaker 2: somebody just because we've had to talk about so many
- 1:30:05Speaker 2: different interests. It's easy to do. But I know tons
- 1:30:08Speaker 2: of people, and my son being one of them, has
- 1:30:09Speaker 2: a hard time starting conversations like this, and this is
- 1:30:12Speaker 2: a tool that he could easily use to kind of
- 1:30:15Speaker 2: get into a scenario where he feels comfortable with the
- 1:30:18Speaker 2: people around him. He can kind of find out and
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: get a gauge of what the people are like by
- 1:30:22Speaker 2: what they laugh at. I mean, you could do that
- 1:30:24Speaker 2: at a regular comedy show, right sure, Like you could
- 1:30:26Speaker 2: go to a comedy show and if it's a dirty
- 1:30:27Speaker 2: show and you're not in a dirty comedy, you're not
- 1:30:29Speaker 2: gonna have a good time, and the rest of the
- 1:30:31Speaker 2: crowd could be losing their mind, and vice versa. If
- 1:30:34Speaker 2: you like dirty comedy, go to a bargazzy show. And
- 1:30:37Speaker 2: not laugh at all because he's not cursing, saying the
- 1:30:39Speaker 2: F word, dropping in bombs, or whatever the case may be.
- 1:30:41Speaker 2: And you do not get it.
- 1:30:42Speaker 4: Now, are these dad jokes guys on Instagram? Or these
- 1:30:45Speaker 4: the guys that are sitting on the vibrating seat, no,
- 1:30:48Speaker 4: trying to drink wine?
- 1:30:49Speaker 2: These are two dudes.
- 1:30:49Speaker 9: No.
- 1:30:50Speaker 2: I don't know what your algorithm looks like, but it
- 1:30:52Speaker 2: must be horrifying. I mean, if that's the first thing
- 1:30:57Speaker 2: that pops up, I don't even want to be a
- 1:30:58Speaker 2: part of that.
- 1:30:58Speaker 4: Everybody else text it and then said they love those guys.
- 1:31:01Speaker 4: They're the best and they are hilarious.
- 1:31:03Speaker 2: Yeah, you should encrypt your phone all the time, like immediately, Hey,
- 1:31:08Speaker 2: how do you what do you call a jerky cow?
- 1:31:12Speaker 8: I don't know, beef jerky.
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: Hey, you're the one who started this. Where do cats
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: go on vacation and cheese and cat? The animals like
- 1:31:26Speaker 2: anything on cheese and cat? Why does Snoop dog always
- 1:31:29Speaker 2: carry an umbrella?
- 1:31:31Speaker 5: No?
- 1:31:31Speaker 2: No, no, fax Drizzle that's the best one of the day,
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: drizzles the show title. All right, one text do seven
- 1:31:45Speaker 2: seven zero three one? Let him up, guys a temper trivia.
- 1:31:47Speaker 15: We'll do that next, you can watch radio being made
- 1:31:52Speaker 15: on a daily basis Jim Colbert Show on YouTube.
- 1:32:03Speaker 18: What's going on over the Company's Concrete Mic. Two things
- 1:32:07Speaker 18: that hit on here. Jellia Roll has always been a
- 1:32:10Speaker 18: bad person. I've never liked him. Some of his songs
- 1:32:13Speaker 18: are okay. He cheated on his wife about a year ago.
- 1:32:16Speaker 18: That's part of the problem water getting divorced. The other
- 1:32:19Speaker 18: thing is cars air conditioning off, radio off not necessary
- 1:32:25Speaker 18: newer vehicles unless you're driving a dinosaur to computer controls
- 1:32:29Speaker 18: all the power supply and feed.
- 1:32:30Speaker 2: Jack was correct on that. Well, we stopped it there.
- 1:32:35Speaker 13: Happy Tuesday, everyone, awesome of the bruise on Saturday.
- 1:32:38Speaker 2: Thank you so much for a wonderful time. Yeah, thanks man,
- 1:32:40Speaker 2: appreciate it just.
- 1:32:41Speaker 13: Started the last collar're talking about things that you were
- 1:32:44Speaker 13: told when you were a child. How about things you
- 1:32:46Speaker 13: were told when you were an adult. Like the people
- 1:32:49Speaker 13: that hate the automatic engines shut off at stop lights
- 1:32:52Speaker 13: and say it's bad on the starter. We had a
- 1:32:54Speaker 13: car for twelve years, put one hundred and ninety thousand
- 1:32:57Speaker 13: miles on it, and it started up the first time time.
- 1:33:00Speaker 2: So it's just we deal with it. Cheers. I hate
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: that thing.
- 1:33:05Speaker 5: By the way, Jim, you're right about why is he
- 1:33:07Speaker 5: making top news?
- 1:33:08Speaker 4: This jelly roll character.
- 1:33:10Speaker 5: I don't know anything about, but now it looks more
- 1:33:13Speaker 5: like Cassadena. She should change his name.
- 1:33:15Speaker 3: I think that's better.
- 1:33:17Speaker 5: And then getting down with him, especially at five hundred pounds,
- 1:33:21Speaker 5: I mean I would be dead. He would crush me
- 1:33:24Speaker 5: like a little ant. So I guess you'd have to
- 1:33:26Speaker 5: be on top. And then that would be like a
- 1:33:29Speaker 5: giant bounty house. And no bright teeth with ashy skin.
- 1:33:34Speaker 2: No, she's like doing your checklist. No this, no, no,
- 1:33:42Speaker 2: all right, welcome back to the Jim Over Show. We're
- 1:33:44Speaker 2: already one or four point one. I'm Jim and your
- 1:33:46Speaker 2: dep Hello Jackson. Yeah, yeah, the jelly roll things. Cravey, Yeah,
- 1:33:55Speaker 2: apparently he was over five hundred and lost three hundred pounds.
- 1:33:58Speaker 2: He's wise. Yeah, Kelly wrote, yeah. Yeah. If you want
- 1:34:02Speaker 2: to send a talk back, and you could do that
- 1:34:03Speaker 2: as well, grab the iHeartRadio app, go right to real
- 1:34:05Speaker 2: radio and you can see that. Mike. Use that like
- 1:34:07Speaker 2: our friends in that last segment, to send us some comments.
- 1:34:10Speaker 2: We love hearing from you guys. Keep doing it, by
- 1:34:12Speaker 2: the way, you can edit it over and over and
- 1:34:13Speaker 2: over until you sound great, and then you can send
- 1:34:15Speaker 2: it to Jack and Hill edit it so it sounds
- 1:34:17Speaker 2: great for him. I'm editing nothing. You got send it
- 1:34:21Speaker 2: to me done. I either pray or I don't make
- 1:34:24Speaker 2: it good. Let me before we get into this, because
- 1:34:26Speaker 2: I just we don't have to spend a lot of
- 1:34:28Speaker 2: time on this. I just found this kind of fascinating.
- 1:34:30Speaker 2: So this was a story on Channel nine today about
- 1:34:32Speaker 2: the most covered songs in American history. Right. That means,
- 1:34:36Speaker 2: you know, songs from another artist that another artist will
- 1:34:38Speaker 2: take and they will do their rendition of it. It's
- 1:34:40Speaker 2: cover song for people who do not know. I know
- 1:34:42Speaker 2: that's kind of wild because I can assume everybody does.
- 1:34:44Speaker 2: Look before I before I say this, what year do
- 1:34:49Speaker 2: you guys believe is the is the seventy seven the
- 1:34:54Speaker 2: nearest song to be covered? Okay, so in other words,
- 1:34:58Speaker 2: they get they list twenty five songs, What is the youngest,
- 1:35:01Speaker 2: the most recent, the youngest of those tunes? What year
- 1:35:04Speaker 2: do you think that was? Just to give me an
- 1:35:06Speaker 2: idea of where this list is going? Three ninety three,
- 1:35:11Speaker 2: what do you think, Debrah, I'm gonna go two thousand
- 1:35:14Speaker 2: and four, nineteen eighty four, would you like to know.
- 1:35:19Speaker 2: And here's the thing. This is one of the reasons
- 1:35:21Speaker 2: I brought this up because I'm not a giant fan
- 1:35:24Speaker 2: of this particular group. I never really have been. But
- 1:35:28Speaker 2: let me tell you, if you ever had a question
- 1:35:30Speaker 2: in your life about who the most influential rock band
- 1:35:34Speaker 2: in history is, take your Zeppelins and all your other
- 1:35:37Speaker 2: bands and take them to the edge of the building
- 1:35:40Speaker 2: and throw them off. You're not even in the conversation
- 1:35:44Speaker 2: journey the Beatles by a billion. And I'm not kidding.
- 1:35:49Speaker 2: I think the top ten songs, with the exception of one,
- 1:35:52Speaker 2: are all Beatles tunes. Oh okay, not the nineteen eighty
- 1:35:55Speaker 2: four one. Then that eighty four one is Time after
- 1:35:58Speaker 2: Time by Cindy Lauper. Really, that is like the eighteenth
- 1:36:02Speaker 2: most covered song of all time, with like three hundred
- 1:36:05Speaker 2: and seventy five versions of it out there or whatever. Wow,
- 1:36:08Speaker 2: how many versions of Let It Be? Do you believe
- 1:36:11Speaker 2: there are a thousand? Not quite that many, but seven hundred. Yeah,
- 1:36:19Speaker 2: five hundred and seventy seven versions of the song Let
- 1:36:22Speaker 2: It Be? From the Beatles. It's five hundred and seventy
- 1:36:24Speaker 2: six too many, Yeah, exactly, Let it Be? Hey, Jude,
- 1:36:28Speaker 2: something imagine here, there, everywhere, come together. Jingle Belt Rock
- 1:36:34Speaker 2: by the way, sneaks in there a number like seven
- 1:36:36Speaker 2: or six or whatever it is. It's the only one.
- 1:36:37Speaker 2: Here comes the sun in my life with a little
- 1:36:40Speaker 2: help from my friends. There's the top ten, with the
- 1:36:42Speaker 2: exception of one All one Wow, And that one is
- 1:36:45Speaker 2: that Christmas song Ain't No Sunshine. That's Bill Withers, right.
- 1:36:50Speaker 2: There's three hundred and seventy six versions of that your
- 1:36:53Speaker 2: song by Elton John squeezed in there. I mean, that's
- 1:36:58Speaker 2: like what eighty or seventy something there. That's three hundred
- 1:37:01Speaker 2: and sixty three version of that song. And the Stones
- 1:37:04Speaker 2: get one. I Can't Get No Satisfaction is the one
- 1:37:08Speaker 2: song that the Rolling Stones have in there.
- 1:37:11Speaker 3: Well, I remember Devo doing it, Yeah, yeah.
- 1:37:13Speaker 2: Yeah, that's right. They did Long and Wining Road, Abbey Road.
- 1:37:17Speaker 2: It's just basically dominated by the Beatles over and over
- 1:37:20Speaker 2: and over. Can't Buy Me Love. Proud Mary from Creedence
- 1:37:24Speaker 2: makes it in there. Interesting stuff. Time after Time originally
- 1:37:29Speaker 2: recorded by Cyndey Lapper nineteen eighty four, three hundred and
- 1:37:32Speaker 2: seventeen covers on seventy seven. Just the Way You Are
- 1:37:36Speaker 2: by Billy Joel makes it out there, Blue Sway Choose
- 1:37:39Speaker 2: by Carl Perkins, and then help. I think the total
- 1:37:43Speaker 2: list if I looked it up there, I think there
- 1:37:44Speaker 2: are fourteen Beatles songs in this In this list, no
- 1:37:48Speaker 2: Elvis song one Heartbreak hotel Oh okay, that's it. That's
- 1:37:52Speaker 2: it for the King of rock and roll. One song,
- 1:37:55Speaker 2: although he has one of the covers of Blue Sway
- 1:37:58Speaker 2: choose exactly.
- 1:37:59Speaker 4: When you say Perkins, I'm like, no, that's Elvis Presley Perkins, Perkins.
- 1:38:05Speaker 2: Let me get that right. Joe hous rock Man it
- 1:38:07Speaker 2: in there as well. Oh okay, cool, yeah, Johnny Begod
- 1:38:10Speaker 2: was number twenty five, Chuck Berry. But I found that amazing, Like,
- 1:38:14Speaker 2: there are so many great covers out there, and none
- 1:38:17Speaker 2: of them made that list, just simply because the Beatles
- 1:38:19Speaker 2: have been around for so long. They were so impactful
- 1:38:22Speaker 2: for those years that you know, that's what drove a
- 1:38:24Speaker 2: lot of people to rock and roll. Even Garth Brooks,
- 1:38:26Speaker 2: you know, said it, the Beatles were a massive influence
- 1:38:28Speaker 2: on him.
- 1:38:30Speaker 4: Still though you would think that there'd be other artists,
- 1:38:32Speaker 4: but maybe their songs just don't work for covers.
- 1:38:34Speaker 2: Do you like the Beatles? Are you a Beatles. I am,
- 1:38:37Speaker 2: and I do like them. I appreciate what they did.
- 1:38:40Speaker 2: I always find it fascinating when I find people such
- 1:38:43Speaker 2: as yourself and our good friend Otto, who don't appreciate
- 1:38:47Speaker 2: the Beatles. But the artists that you guys idolize, all
- 1:38:51Speaker 2: appreciate that. All love the Beatles.
- 1:38:52Speaker 18: Right.
- 1:38:52Speaker 2: And here's the thing. Just musically, it doesn't hit me. Now,
- 1:38:55Speaker 2: there are a couple of songs. When you hear them,
- 1:38:57Speaker 2: you're like, oh yeah, that's kind of a catchy tune,
- 1:38:59Speaker 2: but it just doesn't hit me the way it hits
- 1:39:01Speaker 2: people like our old boss, I mean basically bled the Beatles.
- 1:39:04Speaker 2: He loved it more than anything. What's the band that
- 1:39:06Speaker 2: you think is like what band falls in there for you?
- 1:39:09Speaker 2: Where it's a band that is internationally recognized as a
- 1:39:11Speaker 2: great band that don't hit. They just don't hit for you.
- 1:39:14Speaker 2: I've got to know you two for me, Never got
- 1:39:16Speaker 2: the U two thing, that first album that had Sunday
- 1:39:19Speaker 2: Bloody Sunday and yeah that's that. That's it. After that,
- 1:39:25Speaker 2: Never got it?
- 1:39:26Speaker 3: Rush, Oh no way, Oh I love Rush, dude.
- 1:39:31Speaker 2: I got another one too, Smashing Pumpkins.
- 1:39:34Speaker 3: Oh yeah, no, I've done with you on that one.
- 1:39:36Speaker 2: I kind of really I could take.
- 1:39:41Speaker 3: To the wet Sprocket.
- 1:39:42Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, A train for you is another one you
- 1:39:44Speaker 2: there for it's a little too corporate for you.
- 1:39:47Speaker 3: It's okay, but it just it doesn't it doesn't hit.
- 1:39:50Speaker 2: Yeah, that's wild man. Yeah, especially Pumpkins is a little
- 1:39:53Speaker 2: strange there, Jack, Yeah, that's crazy. I love them, man,
- 1:39:57Speaker 2: I think I was calling the Infinite Sadness is one
- 1:39:59Speaker 2: of the greatest. I just I never will. I have
- 1:40:03Speaker 2: never put him on as no saying, oh, this is
- 1:40:07Speaker 2: what I want to hear right now and play that.
- 1:40:09Speaker 2: If they come on, it's fine. They come up on
- 1:40:12Speaker 2: real music weekends. I recognize that they are popular. They
- 1:40:17Speaker 2: stay on real music weekends. However, just if I'm picking
- 1:40:21Speaker 2: a song, that's not what I'm picking. And the Rush
- 1:40:24Speaker 2: thing is also kind of wild because that could not
- 1:40:26Speaker 2: be more your wheelhouse like era of music when those
- 1:40:30Speaker 2: guys were hitting and I try to figure it out,
- 1:40:33Speaker 2: and I think it's gotta be geedty Lee. It's voice,
- 1:40:35Speaker 2: it's his voice, right, it's yeah voice. Yeah. The funny
- 1:40:38Speaker 2: thing is is when I first started listening to Rush,
- 1:40:40Speaker 2: I wasn't like into them either, because I wasn't into
- 1:40:42Speaker 2: like the music aspect of it, and his voice is
- 1:40:45Speaker 2: very difficult to get past if you're you know, listening
- 1:40:48Speaker 2: to that long form. As I'm a little bit older,
- 1:40:50Speaker 2: I learned how to appreciate the music of the musicianship
- 1:40:55Speaker 2: behind that band because it's three people making all that sound,
- 1:40:57Speaker 2: which is really amazing because Geddy Lee is one of
- 1:40:59Speaker 2: the most talented guys and all the music and that
- 1:41:02Speaker 2: I saw in the concert when they came here about
- 1:41:04Speaker 2: ten years ago. I got to see see Neil p Yeah,
- 1:41:07Speaker 2: you know, perform. What's so cool is during his drum solo,
- 1:41:12Speaker 2: they gave you an overhead shot on the screens of
- 1:41:15Speaker 2: his whole drum kit and him playing and going off,
- 1:41:18Speaker 2: and I hear great things that they're about to tour
- 1:41:20Speaker 2: with a female drummer are and she is getting high
- 1:41:23Speaker 2: marks on her playing. Yeah, clips of her playing the
- 1:41:26Speaker 2: solo from Tom Sawyer or everywhere online right now? Yeah,
- 1:41:29Speaker 2: what's that for you? On top of a train? Is
- 1:41:31Speaker 2: there a bigger one than that? Because trains are kind
- 1:41:33Speaker 2: of they're an okay band. They're no rush though, they're
- 1:41:35Speaker 2: a pop band. Yeah, yeah, yeah, see I will tell
- 1:41:37Speaker 2: you another one too. For the longest time, it's any
- 1:41:39Speaker 2: pop music. Oh really, I wasn't a giant Stones fan
- 1:41:42Speaker 2: for a while. I had to kind of get into
- 1:41:44Speaker 2: the Stones a little bit because I was asked to
- 1:41:46Speaker 2: choose between the Beatles and the Stones. I said, well,
- 1:41:48Speaker 2: I guess it'll be the Stones for me, but I
- 1:41:51Speaker 2: love the Stones. It took me a while to get
- 1:41:53Speaker 2: in there. And I'm not I'm not a giant Springsteen guy. Yeah,
- 1:41:56Speaker 2: a lot of people aren't. And I know he's. I
- 1:41:58Speaker 2: know he's and I know he's an amazing talent and
- 1:42:00Speaker 2: an amazing songwriter. It just doesn't hit me for some reason.
- 1:42:03Speaker 2: I am so used to that.
- 1:42:05Speaker 3: But it's, you know, for again, that's where he grew up.
- 1:42:08Speaker 2: Yeah, for those when it does it when I don't
- 1:42:11Speaker 2: know if it's growing up in it or for the
- 1:42:13Speaker 2: people who connect with it, they really connect with it.
- 1:42:16Speaker 2: And for those who nope, Yeah, I just looked over
- 1:42:19Speaker 2: and saw one on the texting service that was that
- 1:42:20Speaker 2: way for a while. For me. It took me again
- 1:42:23Speaker 2: a long time to kind of get into them because
- 1:42:24Speaker 2: everybody I grew up was into them. But everybody that
- 1:42:27Speaker 2: I grew up with that was into this band also
- 1:42:30Speaker 2: was a big pothead. So I always associated their music
- 1:42:33Speaker 2: with druggies, and that wasn't my scene when I was younger.
- 1:42:36Speaker 2: I was a jock when I was younger and did
- 1:42:38Speaker 2: not associate with those people at all. But Pink Floyd
- 1:42:40Speaker 2: for me for a while was like a band I
- 1:42:42Speaker 2: would never ever listen to. And then man, just about
- 1:42:45Speaker 2: five years ago, I went into a peak Floyd rabbit
- 1:42:48Speaker 2: hole and did not come out for months. I mean,
- 1:42:51Speaker 2: that's all I listened to for months. I was making
- 1:42:53Speaker 2: my kids listen to it.
- 1:42:54Speaker 3: And somebody texted seven to seven zero three.
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: One.
- 1:42:57Speaker 4: Wait, isn't Taylor Swift Deb's fave? No, that's my mother's favorite.
- 1:43:00Speaker 4: My mom is the Swifty.
- 1:43:02Speaker 2: I was lost. I was, yeah, yeah, I mean it's
- 1:43:07Speaker 2: no stink fist. Yeah, yeah, there's some of those bands.
- 1:43:10Speaker 2: That's so funny that you say that, But it is
- 1:43:13Speaker 2: not a state. It's the pot. Yeah, yeah, it's it's
- 1:43:19Speaker 2: not the anger that we need so much at the
- 1:43:23Speaker 2: other one too. For a long time for me, that
- 1:43:25Speaker 2: that Russ really listened to all the time when we
- 1:43:28Speaker 2: were the Monsters, that's all he talked about for a minute,
- 1:43:31Speaker 2: and it took me a minute because I remember growing
- 1:43:33Speaker 2: up and a lot of people listen to this, and
- 1:43:35Speaker 2: again it was the dude's voice that kind of got
- 1:43:37Speaker 2: me a little crazy. But then you start listening to
- 1:43:39Speaker 2: the songwriting and you learn about the story and you
- 1:43:42Speaker 2: kind of get into the sound. But it was Tom Petty.
- 1:43:44Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's another one for me. I love him,
- 1:43:48Speaker 2: but it took me a minute to get into Tom
- 1:43:50Speaker 2: Petty now, Like I like, now, if there's a Petty
- 1:43:52Speaker 2: tune and he's a Gainesville guy, like if anybody, we
- 1:43:56Speaker 2: should love the guy. But Dylan, Dylan's another one, Kyllene,
- 1:43:59Speaker 2: It's like, okay.
- 1:44:01Speaker 3: Can you can you announciate just a little bit.
- 1:44:04Speaker 2: He's a counterculture he doesn't have to do that anything.
- 1:44:07Speaker 2: I know, all right? Four seven nine four one text
- 1:44:10Speaker 2: seven to seven zero three one. I was telling the
- 1:44:11Speaker 2: guys before the show. I saw a piece this weekend
- 1:44:13Speaker 2: that I found fascinating about something that we all do
- 1:44:17Speaker 2: and all love. As a matter of fact, we have
- 1:44:18Speaker 2: a caller that has now kind of conditioned himself to
- 1:44:21Speaker 2: believe that he's the king of these But what they've
- 1:44:24Speaker 2: learned is this little thing that people make fun of
- 1:44:28Speaker 2: is actually one of the most important social tools that
- 1:44:31Speaker 2: you can use in your life. And I'll tell you
- 1:44:33Speaker 2: exactly what it is right after this. So you're wondering
- 1:44:43Speaker 2: maybe or not.
- 1:44:45Speaker 12: The reason Ryan Holmes is such a big handsOn fan
- 1:44:49Speaker 12: is because he had a crush on the lead singer
- 1:44:53Speaker 12: for many years until he found out.
- 1:44:57Speaker 2: He was a dude, and then he had lots of
- 1:44:59Speaker 2: quot students for himself. That's the true story I'm told
- 1:45:06Speaker 2: by Ryan. Ryan Holmes admitted on the air that at
- 1:45:11Speaker 2: first when he saw Hanson, he thought the lead singer
- 1:45:14Speaker 2: was a girl and he had a crush on that girl.
- 1:45:17Speaker 2: Then later found out it was a boy.
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:45:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll text him after the show tell he's doing
- 1:45:25Speaker 2: what do you admit that? What age did he say
- 1:45:27Speaker 2: that that he found out what the deal was? How
- 1:45:29Speaker 2: old was he when this was going on? Thirty five?
- 1:45:34Speaker 2: That's a you ever asked me a question? You pad
- 1:45:37Speaker 2: immediately every day. I love him for revealing that on
- 1:45:44Speaker 2: the air. All right four seven nine four one text
- 1:45:49Speaker 2: us seven seven zero three one. Welcome back on Jim
- 1:45:51Speaker 2: Debs right there. Yeah, Jack is here as well, and
- 1:45:55Speaker 2: Jack has the Jackie seck. What's in there? Biggin all
- 1:45:58Speaker 2: aboard Chucky Chuck, its true gle Here we go, got
- 1:46:02Speaker 2: a couple of great prizes this week, including tickets to
- 1:46:05Speaker 2: see Mumford and Son's Great Band at the Benchmark International Arena.

- 1:47:00Speaker 2: Number one sounds good. Devaney, how you doing, I'm good.
- 1:47:05Speaker 2: How are you doing great? Dvan? You want to play
- 1:47:07Speaker 2: a little game with us? I do all right? Let's
- 1:47:10Speaker 2: do it then.
- 1:47:13Speaker 14: A game.
- 1:47:15Speaker 2: Hey, first things first, what a cool name? Is there
- 1:47:17Speaker 2: an origin story behind the name Devaney? Is? I think, Devinie?
- 1:47:23Speaker 2: Oh okay, it's not a cool story. Yeah, my mom
- 1:47:26Speaker 2: just knew a girl in high school and liked her name.
- 1:47:28Speaker 2: So oh, there you go. Find what's very original and
- 1:47:31Speaker 2: very cool.
- 1:47:32Speaker 9: Yeah, thank you?
- 1:47:33Speaker 2: All right? Right on, all right, well, this is a
- 1:47:35Speaker 2: really easy game. I got a question here for you
- 1:47:38Speaker 2: have four answers. One of these answers is not true.
- 1:47:40Speaker 2: But if you can find that, I will send you
- 1:47:42Speaker 2: over to Jackie's got some cool stuff. You can choose
- 1:47:44Speaker 2: something for yourself. Are you ready?
- 1:47:46Speaker 12: I'm ready.
- 1:47:47Speaker 2: Here we go on this day in twenty twenty six.
- 1:47:49Speaker 2: On this day today, Young Brands sells Pizza Hut to
- 1:47:54Speaker 2: Long Range Capital in a two point seven billion dollar deal.
- 1:47:58Speaker 2: Here are three fun facts about Pizza Hut and one
- 1:48:01Speaker 2: red roofed lies. All right, yeah, we're talking about Pizza Hut.
- 1:48:05Speaker 2: Which one of these isn't true? Demand or is it?
- 1:48:08Speaker 5: What?
- 1:48:08Speaker 2: Devinie? Yeah? No, very good. I want to make sure
- 1:48:11Speaker 2: you get correct and be respectful. Come on, dude, No,
- 1:48:14Speaker 2: I'm all right, Devinie. Here you go. This is number
- 1:48:17Speaker 2: one about Pizza Hut. The name Pizza Hut was born
- 1:48:20Speaker 2: from necessity. The founding brothers could only afford an eight
- 1:48:24Speaker 2: letter sign. Number two, Pizza Hut once had a perfume
- 1:48:29Speaker 2: that smelled like fresh baked pizza dough. Number three, Pizza
- 1:48:33Speaker 2: Hut used to have a mascot called the Pizza Pie Guy.
- 1:48:36Speaker 2: Or Lastly, Pizza Hut accounts for three percent of America's
- 1:48:40Speaker 2: cheese production, buying three hundred million pounds annually. Which of
- 1:48:45Speaker 2: those is a lie?
- 1:48:49Speaker 4: I think the last one?
- 1:48:50Speaker 2: No, that's absolutely true and if you google it it's wild.
- 1:48:53Speaker 2: Pizza Hut is one of the largest is the is
- 1:48:56Speaker 2: the largest consumer or purchaser of cheeseationwide? Wow?
- 1:49:01Speaker 3: What makes sense?
- 1:49:02Speaker 2: Yeah, three hundred million pounds is a whole bunch. That's
- 1:49:04Speaker 2: exactly how much I like on my pizza butter Way pizza.
- 1:49:08Speaker 2: All right, deb two, three, four or five?
- 1:49:10Speaker 3: Let's go too?
- 1:49:11Speaker 2: Two sounds good? Right down the line, Chris, how you doing?
- 1:49:14Speaker 2: How's it going?
- 1:49:15Speaker 5: Guys?
- 1:49:15Speaker 2: Good boss? We're talking about Pizza Hutt here. Which one
- 1:49:17Speaker 2: of these is not true? Number one? The Pizza Hut
- 1:49:19Speaker 2: name is born from necessity. The founding brothers could only
- 1:49:22Speaker 2: afford an eight letter sign number two. Pizza once had
- 1:49:25Speaker 2: a perfume that smelled like fresh baked pizza dough. Or lastly,
- 1:49:28Speaker 2: Pizza Hut used to have a mascot called the Pizza
- 1:49:30Speaker 2: Pie Guy. Which of those is a lie? Oh the
- 1:49:34Speaker 2: last one, that's the one. But you're with extra. Can
- 1:49:39Speaker 2: you tell me what the guy's name actually was? Jack?
- 1:49:42Speaker 10: Do you know this?
- 1:49:42Speaker 2: No, I'm just focused on where to get that perfume. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:49:46Speaker 2: it's And by the way, you can't get it now.
- 1:49:47Speaker 2: And if you find a bottle that cost four hundred
- 1:49:49Speaker 2: fifty dollars because they literally only made a hundred of
- 1:49:51Speaker 2: them at one point, it's Pizza Pete.
- 1:49:53Speaker 3: Is the guy's name, Man, Pizza Pete. I don't remember
- 1:49:55Speaker 3: that at all.
- 1:49:56Speaker 2: You're a winner, Chris, I'm gonna put you on. Hey, yeah,
- 1:49:58Speaker 2: he is picked out something nice for yourself right there
- 1:50:00Speaker 2: in the old Jackie sack. It is pizza. It is true.
- 1:50:03Speaker 2: The name Pizza Hut was born from necessity. When the
- 1:50:05Speaker 2: guys opened the place, they borrowed six hundred dollars from
- 1:50:08Speaker 2: their mom and they could only afford an eight letter
- 1:50:11Speaker 2: signed so they just sat down and said, it's pizza
- 1:50:13Speaker 2: what and then they just came up with Pizza Hut.
- 1:50:15Speaker 2: That's what fit.
- 1:50:17Speaker 3: And now they don't have to worry about being able
- 1:50:18Speaker 3: to afford more than they do.
- 1:50:20Speaker 2: Not the Pizza Hut did I once have a perfume
- 1:50:23Speaker 2: that smelled like fresh baked pizza dome A couple other
- 1:50:26Speaker 2: things you may not know about Pizza Hut before we
- 1:50:27Speaker 2: get to the top of the hour. It was Pizza
- 1:50:30Speaker 2: Hut who introduced America to it is common knowledge. I
- 1:50:35Speaker 2: think it's a common thing now when you go in,
- 1:50:37Speaker 2: you say this. They introduced the personal pan pizza. Oh yeah,
- 1:50:42Speaker 2: it did not exist until Pizza Hut came up with
- 1:50:45Speaker 2: the personal pan pizza, which was an idea that people
- 1:50:48Speaker 2: could come in and have pizza for lunch because at
- 1:50:49Speaker 2: that time, pizza wasn't really a lunch thing.
- 1:50:51Speaker 3: Yeah, no, it's a dinner thing. It was too big
- 1:50:53Speaker 3: for lunch.
- 1:50:54Speaker 2: It was too big, and it was too long. It
- 1:50:55Speaker 2: took too long. So they learned how to bake these
- 1:50:57Speaker 2: small pizzas in these pants. It took fifteen to twenty
- 1:50:59Speaker 2: minutes and everybody could start eating lunch there. And that's
- 1:51:02Speaker 2: what Pizza Hut did. They created the pan pizza.
- 1:51:04Speaker 3: I love the personal pan pizza.
- 1:51:06Speaker 2: I'm gonna save that one for last because it's crazy.
- 1:51:09Speaker 2: Barbara Bush was the very first person ever who ordered
- 1:51:12Speaker 2: pizza Hut delivered to the White House. They were doing
- 1:51:15Speaker 2: a reading thing at the White House. There were two
- 1:51:18Speaker 2: hundred kids, and she called it pizza Hut and had
- 1:51:20Speaker 2: them deliver pizza for the two hundred kids that were
- 1:51:22Speaker 2: the White House for this reading thing that she was doing.
- 1:51:25Speaker 2: No better meal you could have served, no, Yeah, pizza Hut. Also,
- 1:51:30Speaker 2: in two thousand and one, became the first to deliver
- 1:51:34Speaker 2: a pizza two. Oh, that's a good guess. It cost
- 1:51:38Speaker 2: them a million dollars the Moon, the space Station, the ISS.
- 1:51:43Speaker 2: Really in two thousand and one, it cost them one
- 1:51:45Speaker 2: million dollars to send a pizza to the space station
- 1:51:47Speaker 2: and they did it. And then, lastly is the most
- 1:51:50Speaker 2: fascinating of all. This is a crazy fact. Stores that
- 1:51:56Speaker 2: now occupy old pizza Hut buildings have more scess than
- 1:52:00Speaker 2: others because of the ability to say in the ad
- 1:52:03Speaker 2: it's the old pizza Hut building. Really. In other words,
- 1:52:06Speaker 2: if you open up a store in a pizza Hut building,
- 1:52:09Speaker 2: that did not make it, and a lot of the
- 1:52:10Speaker 2: franchise did not make it. We have one of our
- 1:52:13Speaker 2: old town and there's one around here as well, and
- 1:52:14Speaker 2: it's now a Mexican restaurant. Those businesses, whether it be
- 1:52:18Speaker 2: a vape shop, a restaurant, whatever the case may be,
- 1:52:21Speaker 2: they do better than businesses around them because they're able
- 1:52:24Speaker 2: to use the old Pizza Hut building as a landmark
- 1:52:27Speaker 2: and people can find it easier. It's actually a search
- 1:52:30Speaker 2: engine online really, yeah, where you can find the old
- 1:52:33Speaker 2: Pizza Hut buildings all throughout the United States of America
- 1:52:36Speaker 2: and find out what's in them. Now, I didn't know.
- 1:52:37Speaker 3: It's from Wichita, Kansas.
- 1:52:39Speaker 2: Yeah, they were from Wichita. Absolutely. The pizza the biggest
- 1:52:42Speaker 2: pizza Hut, biggest pizza chain in America is found in Kansas,
- 1:52:45Speaker 2: I know.
- 1:52:45Speaker 4: And when you see the original Pizza Hut building, you're like, yeah,
- 1:52:49Speaker 4: it's a museum now it's still up.
- 1:52:51Speaker 2: It should Yeah. The Pizza Hut Museum is the very
- 1:52:53Speaker 2: first Pizza Hut restaurant. Oh, that's cool. They were only
- 1:52:56Speaker 2: in business for one year before they began franchising. It
- 1:53:00Speaker 2: was almost immediate. They had a friend that wanted to
- 1:53:02Speaker 2: open up and they let him do it, and then
- 1:53:04Speaker 2: after that it was just it was just an onslaught
- 1:53:06Speaker 2: and they were everywhere. Well again, I mean I usually
- 1:53:09Speaker 2: love Pizza Hut, man, I haven't had a pizza that
- 1:53:13Speaker 2: was a good childhood memory. When you'd all pile into
- 1:53:15Speaker 2: the Pizza Hut.
- 1:53:16Speaker 4: You'd go into the booth with the red plastic cups
- 1:53:19Speaker 4: and the you know, the red and white checkered tablecloth.
- 1:53:22Speaker 3: You'd get that deep dish pizza.
- 1:53:24Speaker 2: Is the first time I ever tried chili flakes on anything.
- 1:53:26Speaker 2: Oh wow, I had the shaky cheese right we called
- 1:53:33Speaker 2: we called it shaky cheese. I think I called it
- 1:53:35Speaker 2: shaky cheese the last week stinky cheese. And then the
- 1:53:44Speaker 2: red pepper flak flakes. That's the only time I ever
- 1:53:47Speaker 2: And then they had the best drafts sodas of all time.
- 1:53:50Speaker 2: This is one of the only places you get a
- 1:53:51Speaker 2: draft doctor Pepper back in the day.
- 1:53:52Speaker 4: And what's so cool is to hear that at least
- 1:53:54Speaker 4: in some places. I think there's one getting ready to
- 1:53:57Speaker 4: open and Claremont this summer they're bringing back that retro
- 1:54:00Speaker 4: Pizza Hut restaurant. Are they really the salad bar and
- 1:54:03Speaker 4: the pizza bar and the red plastic cuffs you remember
- 1:54:07Speaker 4: so well.
- 1:54:07Speaker 2: You talked about it.
- 1:54:08Speaker 3: Before the table pac man.
- 1:54:10Speaker 2: Oh, it's the greatest.
- 1:54:11Speaker 3: You just sit there and play pack man or miss
- 1:54:13Speaker 3: pack man.
- 1:54:13Speaker 2: I mean it was the only man. Look, when we
- 1:54:15Speaker 2: found out we were going to pizza at his kids,
- 1:54:17Speaker 2: we came unglued. It was like Christmas morning and somebody
- 1:54:19Speaker 2: just texted and said, the old pizza hut over and
- 1:54:21Speaker 2: Port Orange is down, dispensary, So that dispensary can say,
- 1:54:24Speaker 2: come get your weed. You know, the old pizza on
- 1:54:26Speaker 2: joint exactly all right, four seven nine four one text us.
- 1:54:29Speaker 2: I had seven seven zero three one back in a second,
- 1:54:31Speaker 2: more than Jim Colbert shows, say right there, did you.
- 1:54:38Speaker 11: Hear about the restaurant on the food? Great food, horrible atmosphere?
- 1:54:42Speaker 11: DoD jokes agree. I use them all the time in sales.
- 1:54:45Speaker 11: I use software sales, and they helped break the tension.
- 1:54:48Speaker 11: He'll break the eyes and make people smurk, roll their
- 1:54:50Speaker 11: eyes and smile. But always a good way to start
- 1:54:52Speaker 11: a conversation. It always works. I think it's a good
- 1:54:55Speaker 11: way just to show show the room and show your
- 1:54:57Speaker 11: car goals, to see what kind of we're working with.
- 1:55:00Speaker 11: The people keep coming.
- 1:55:01Speaker 2: People remember you as well from him, Yeah, all right,
- 1:55:04Speaker 2: here it goes.
- 1:55:06Speaker 3: Don't ever buy shoes from a drug dealer. I did,
- 1:55:10Speaker 3: and I don't know what he laced him with, but
- 1:55:11Speaker 3: I was tripping.
- 1:55:15Speaker 12: What's green and red and travels at about three hundred
- 1:55:17Speaker 12: miles an hour?
- 1:55:20Speaker 2: A frog in a blender? Oh come on, yuh?
- 1:55:25Speaker 5: I know?
- 1:55:25Speaker 19: A rushed cell board up reader.
- 1:55:27Speaker 2: At a check war to check war too.
- 1:55:35Speaker 15: Hey Jimmy, where'd.
- 1:55:37Speaker 17: They think the little boy who got hurt while.
- 1:55:39Speaker 2: He was playing Peekaboo? I don't know where. They took
- 1:55:41Speaker 2: him to the ICU? Where did you hear the guy
- 1:55:46Speaker 2: who invented the fruit loss and died?
- 1:55:49Speaker 12: You know what?
- 1:55:50Speaker 2: The weird thing about his funeral was no coffin up jays, Yes, drewe,
- 1:55:58Speaker 2: I get a dad joke for you. Which days are
- 1:56:01Speaker 2: the strongest? No clue? Saturday and Sunday. The rest are weekendays. Oh,
- 1:56:09Speaker 2: Captain Bill here checking in from Titusville. Did you hear
- 1:56:13Speaker 2: about the kidnapping at school?
- 1:56:15Speaker 18: Yeah, don't worry.
- 1:56:16Speaker 14: Everything was okay.
- 1:56:17Speaker 2: They woke them up. All right, welcome back. They called
- 1:56:22Speaker 2: the terminator when he retired, the ex terminator, huh, he
- 1:56:29Speaker 2: left a joke? Yeah all right, Yeah, that's the last
- 1:56:33Speaker 2: one I got all right for seven nine four one
- 1:56:35Speaker 2: text seven seven zero three one. Welcome back on Jim.
- 1:56:38Speaker 2: There's death Hello Jack is here as well. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:56:40Speaker 2: it's a cool story man. If you want to check
- 1:56:41Speaker 2: it out, y'ah who liked today it was there? You
- 1:56:43Speaker 2: can probably search it. It's a just a study on
- 1:56:46Speaker 2: dad jokes and like that gentleman said earlier, uses them
- 1:56:49Speaker 2: sales all the time. Also, people remember when you have
- 1:56:51Speaker 2: that joke. So if you want to one of those
- 1:56:53Speaker 2: little jokes is like what they call them. There's a
- 1:56:55Speaker 2: term for it. I can't remember, but it's like a
- 1:56:57Speaker 2: key memory point, like a you can say, oh, and
- 1:57:00Speaker 2: the guy who told you that dad joke about and
- 1:57:03Speaker 2: or something, and they will be able to remember you,
- 1:57:04Speaker 2: or if they laugh about it, they will they have
- 1:57:06Speaker 2: a better chance of remembering who you are with a laugh.
- 1:57:09Speaker 2: I lied one more. What do you call a fish
- 1:57:12Speaker 2: with no eye? H I hate that they don't kill you,
- 1:57:23Speaker 2: deb I hate that they don't have that effect on
- 1:57:27Speaker 2: you because it feels like you think you're better than us. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:57:30Speaker 2: that's what it feels like. That's what it is, all right,
- 1:57:33Speaker 2: seven seven and zero three one text us. You can
- 1:57:36Speaker 2: also send us a talk back if you have a
- 1:57:38Speaker 2: dad joke. We only have a few more minutes where
- 1:57:40Speaker 2: we will get you in there. Maybe just grab the
- 1:57:41Speaker 2: iHeartRadio app, go to real Radio and use that mike
- 1:57:43Speaker 2: to send your comment over to Jack. We'll get you
- 1:57:45Speaker 2: on the air. Greg a Rostler in the wings. We'll
- 1:57:48Speaker 2: talk to Greg in a minute. It's only money's coming
- 1:57:49Speaker 2: up and Greg is their their social security and medicare specialists.
- 1:57:54Speaker 2: And that's important because, man, I don't know if you've
- 1:57:55Speaker 2: read the news lately. Have you read?
- 1:57:57Speaker 5: No?
- 1:57:58Speaker 2: Yeah, man, there's they've up the date that social Security
- 1:58:01Speaker 2: is supposed to go broke, and it is about the
- 1:58:04Speaker 2: same time that I would be retiring. So this conversation
- 1:58:08Speaker 2: comes up in politics all the time, like where they
- 1:58:10Speaker 2: could take that money from because it's a gigantic chunk
- 1:58:12Speaker 2: of money, they feel that they can borrow from it
- 1:58:14Speaker 2: and then repay it or whatever. But there are some
- 1:58:17Speaker 2: major issues happening right now. So maybe Greg can give
- 1:58:19Speaker 2: us a better idea if you're really headed toward that
- 1:58:22Speaker 2: social security world, what you could be looking for. And
- 1:58:25Speaker 2: if you have questions, of course, you can always text
- 1:58:27Speaker 2: us at seven to seven zero three to one. Well,
- 1:58:29Speaker 2: there's a company that is going out of business. And man,
- 1:58:34Speaker 2: I got to tell you, this is one of those
- 1:58:36Speaker 2: things where when you hear about a company doing poorly,
- 1:58:39Speaker 2: and all you hear about the company is that they
- 1:58:41Speaker 2: are not doing poorly. You see big time commercials, you
- 1:58:44Speaker 2: see big time endorsements for the company, and then today
- 1:58:48Speaker 2: you read that they are losing millions of dollars. They've
- 1:58:52Speaker 2: already lost millions in the first quarter. They also have
- 1:58:55Speaker 2: four or five hundred stores in the US, and they
- 1:58:59Speaker 2: are filed for bankruptcy on June twelfth, stating that it
- 1:59:03Speaker 2: plans to sell its assets under a four hundred and
- 1:59:06Speaker 2: fifteen million dollar buyout from a company in Canada. And again,
- 1:59:11Speaker 2: I don't I've never had one of these products, and
- 1:59:15Speaker 2: I think they're pretty damn expensive. But it's sleep number.
- 1:59:20Speaker 2: Oh yeah, kind of guess Peloton. Yeah. Well, the funny
- 1:59:23Speaker 2: thing is it is like the Peloton thing. It really is,
- 1:59:26Speaker 2: because if you watch Peloton commercials and you saw anything
- 1:59:29Speaker 2: any of the branding for Peloton, you're like, man, I
- 1:59:32Speaker 2: bet they can't make these things fast enough. And then,
- 1:59:34Speaker 2: of course go back about two years ago and that
- 1:59:36Speaker 2: thing fell off the world. You know, now peloton.
- 1:59:39Speaker 3: You don't see any commercials.
- 1:59:41Speaker 2: I mean I think they or they're close to being
- 1:59:42Speaker 2: out of business. Did they have to re then they
- 1:59:44Speaker 2: have to do a Chapter seven thing where they had
- 1:59:46Speaker 2: to reorganize. Yeah, I just know, like especially in the pandemic,
- 1:59:49Speaker 2: it got huge exercise and just like every time. I
- 1:59:53Speaker 2: don't know, maybe it's just me, but you get that
- 1:59:55Speaker 2: home piece of exercise equipment and you have the best
- 1:59:58Speaker 2: of intentions and then the low goes on it. Right
- 2:00:01Speaker 2: yet exactly and with this one, I think it required
- 2:00:03Speaker 2: a Didn't it require a subscription as well? Right? Like,
- 2:00:06Speaker 2: not only you have to buy the bike, which is
- 2:00:08Speaker 2: a few thousand dollars to do the classes. Yeah, you
- 2:00:11Speaker 2: have to subscribe so you can take the classes on it.
- 2:00:13Speaker 2: Because it's got this big screen, you can download different
- 2:00:16Speaker 2: settings like you're riding through the French Alps or through
- 2:00:18Speaker 2: the Appalachian Mountains or whatever the case may be.
- 2:00:20Speaker 3: Yeah, they had some accidents, people who had issues.
- 2:00:24Speaker 2: One of them. Yeah, seven hundred. Reuters is reporting the
- 2:00:28Speaker 2: sleep number entered bankruptcy with six hundred and seventy two
- 2:00:32Speaker 2: million dollars in debt. This is a Minnesota based company
- 2:00:35Speaker 2: and man I got it aren't they really expensive sleep
- 2:00:38Speaker 2: number beds? So yeah, look about real quick if you
- 2:00:41Speaker 2: don't mind what an average sleep number bed is. I
- 2:00:43Speaker 2: ran into somebody at a promotion recently, and I don't
- 2:00:46Speaker 2: know how this came up, but the sleep numbered thing
- 2:00:49Speaker 2: came up, and these guys swore by it because I
- 2:00:51Speaker 2: guess it's it's basically their king sized bed is like
- 2:00:53Speaker 2: two twin sized beds or two full sized beds. That Yeah, yeah, dude,
- 2:00:59Speaker 2: yeah you see.
- 2:00:59Speaker 3: That we're sponsor I yeah, so Jack, give us the number.
- 2:01:04Speaker 2: That can't be right? Yeah, it is right, buddy, I'm
- 2:01:06Speaker 2: telling you. That's the problem is this. And this is
- 2:01:08Speaker 2: like one of those situations where like when you get
- 2:01:11Speaker 2: into the store and like, oh, well, this is going
- 2:01:13Speaker 2: to change your life. You know, it's got this, it's
- 2:01:15Speaker 2: got cooling, it's got vibrating.
- 2:01:17Speaker 3: You know, you like your side softer, he likes his
- 2:01:20Speaker 3: little firm.
- 2:01:21Speaker 2: You can adjust it where the head's a little higher,
- 2:01:23Speaker 2: the feet are a little higher, maybe there's a lump
- 2:01:25Speaker 2: where your knees go up. And you know, people are
- 2:01:27Speaker 2: buying these things thinking they're going to transform their lives.
- 2:01:29Speaker 2: I have an adjustable bed. It's not a sleep number
- 2:01:32Speaker 2: and we paid good money for that. I mean, we
- 2:01:34Speaker 2: paid pretty good money for it. But when I have
- 2:01:36Speaker 2: a remote control, yeah we do as well. Yeah, the
- 2:01:38Speaker 2: cheapest you find him is a thousand They go up
- 2:01:41Speaker 2: to ten grand, ten thousand bucks. Do you have a
- 2:01:46Speaker 2: sleep number? You do spend a third of your life in? Yeah,
- 2:01:48Speaker 2: you do. And it says and don't know what the
- 2:01:51Speaker 2: deal is. It doesn't really say why. It doesn't really
- 2:01:54Speaker 2: give a specific reason other than you know, maybe people
- 2:01:57Speaker 2: have just kind of come to the realization that that
- 2:01:59Speaker 2: it really isn't that big of a difference sleeping on
- 2:02:02Speaker 2: a sleep number as opposed to just a high quality
- 2:02:04Speaker 2: bed that you can buy at any betting store. And
- 2:02:06Speaker 2: still those are a couple thousand dollars for a good one. Yeah,
- 2:02:08Speaker 2: for what they say is a good one. Yeah, I've
- 2:02:11Speaker 2: had the same mattress down. I think it's probably about
- 2:02:13Speaker 2: time for us to kind of mattress up. But the
- 2:02:14Speaker 2: one we have is so comfortable we don't want to
- 2:02:16Speaker 2: do anything with it. Oh do you flip it? If
- 2:02:18Speaker 2: cars doesn't require the slipping thing? Flip? Yeah, we have
- 2:02:21Speaker 2: the pad thing on top. Oh pillow top, No flip,
- 2:02:23Speaker 2: You just turn it. You just turn it. Oh you
- 2:02:27Speaker 2: spin it? Yeah? Yeah, because like it's okay, so normally
- 2:02:30Speaker 2: the way you live in it, or are you sleeping it?
- 2:02:32Speaker 2: It's got the two lines like what would be my
- 2:02:33Speaker 2: wife and then me? They tell you what don't turn
- 2:02:36Speaker 2: it just completely around? You turn it just one quarter
- 2:02:38Speaker 2: of a turn right, so you sleep across the grid.
- 2:02:40Speaker 2: You're making making a you're basically making a hashtag. Ayah yeah,
- 2:02:44Speaker 2: which the last time you bought your bed? How old
- 2:02:46Speaker 2: is it? Uh? This one I bought four years ago?
- 2:02:49Speaker 2: Oh okay. Don't they say about every seven years you
- 2:02:52Speaker 2: should re up or something, isn't it? I thought it
- 2:02:54Speaker 2: was like twenty years? No, no, no it's not. You
- 2:02:56Speaker 2: know you flip it every ten it's like seven to
- 2:02:58Speaker 2: ten years or something. You spell flip it every like
- 2:03:00Speaker 2: six months or year. If you can even flip it,
- 2:03:03Speaker 2: what's wrong with yours? You can't flip it?
- 2:03:04Speaker 5: No?
- 2:03:05Speaker 2: Why not?
- 2:03:05Speaker 3: Because it's it's motorized.
- 2:03:09Speaker 4: But it's a motorized bed, so I mean the feet
- 2:03:12Speaker 4: can go up, the head can go up, and has
- 2:03:14Speaker 4: a TV mode where both sides will come up and
- 2:03:16Speaker 4: have you sit perfectly to watch TV. So there's no
- 2:03:20Speaker 4: taking the mattress off to flip it over.
- 2:03:21Speaker 2: So I have that very same thing. But I believe
- 2:03:24Speaker 2: that you can. I believe you. You're not supposed to
- 2:03:26Speaker 2: flip it though. I think. Do you have a pillow
- 2:03:27Speaker 2: top on yours?
- 2:03:28Speaker 5: No?
- 2:03:28Speaker 2: We have a pillow top pad? Yeah? Yeah yeah? Did
- 2:03:31Speaker 2: you put on yourself?
- 2:03:32Speaker 3: We put on yeah.
- 2:03:33Speaker 2: I mean think a memory foam. More like, do you
- 2:03:35Speaker 2: have box springs or no? No box rings right now,
- 2:03:37Speaker 2: stop hearing right, No box.
- 2:03:38Speaker 3: Springs, Nope, just a bunch of electronics.
- 2:03:40Speaker 2: Would do you know what brand it is?
- 2:03:41Speaker 3: I want to say it's temper Pedic.
- 2:03:43Speaker 2: Okay, that's a good one. I think that's what we have.
- 2:03:44Speaker 2: We have that are sealy? You fancy?
- 2:03:47Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 2:03:47Speaker 5: What do you have?
- 2:03:48Speaker 2: Jack Old Newspapers? The original mattress factory? Do you really?
- 2:03:53Speaker 2: I mean, that's a fine mattress that it's handmade here
- 2:03:55Speaker 2: in Orlando. I had a queen size mattress factory mattress
- 2:03:58Speaker 2: and it wasn't that bad. I mean it wasn't listen,
- 2:04:00Speaker 2: get carried away. It's just a good deal, all right. Yeah,
- 2:04:04Speaker 2: you have a king size bed? No, I went down
- 2:04:07Speaker 2: from Kingdom. Why would you do that?
- 2:04:09Speaker 4: Some people say that it actually makes your relationship closer
- 2:04:13Speaker 4: because exactly, let's go because you're closer together, so there
- 2:04:18Speaker 4: isn't that space in between you and the texting service.
- 2:04:21Speaker 3: Jimmy watched the texting service. They will let you know.
- 2:04:25Speaker 4: We went from a king to a queen and it
- 2:04:27Speaker 4: has increased our intimacy by such and such.
- 2:04:30Speaker 2: There's zero zero chance that I would ever sleep in
- 2:04:34Speaker 2: a queen's eyes bed. I can never do it.
- 2:04:36Speaker 3: Chris and I did for several years, and I kudos
- 2:04:39Speaker 3: to him because he's six foot two giant.
- 2:04:42Speaker 5: I know.
- 2:04:43Speaker 4: So I used to have to tuck the sheets in
- 2:04:45Speaker 4: at the bottom of the bed so that he wouldn't
- 2:04:46Speaker 4: fall out.
- 2:04:48Speaker 3: What I mean, No, he's a big dude.
- 2:04:53Speaker 2: I got.
- 2:04:55Speaker 4: Sleeping next to Taketo over here? Are you like a
- 2:04:58Speaker 4: rotisserie chicken? Started six am?
- 2:05:01Speaker 3: Rolling around?
- 2:05:03Speaker 2: You turn around a lot like that. See, I don't
- 2:05:05Speaker 2: do that. I do it like one time. I have
- 2:05:07Speaker 2: two positions. I sleep in and that's it. Yeah, but
- 2:05:09Speaker 2: you don't have a hot flash. I don't have hot flashes.
- 2:05:12Speaker 3: There's no need for you to look like a flying
- 2:05:14Speaker 3: squirrel in drag.
- 2:05:16Speaker 2: My wife has them all the time. My wife used
- 2:05:17Speaker 2: to have them. She doesn't have them as bad as
- 2:05:18Speaker 2: she used to. But man, there would be times where
- 2:05:20Speaker 2: you could I would be you would be like she'd
- 2:05:22Speaker 2: have her leg on me or whatever. I'd you know,
- 2:05:24Speaker 2: she'd just touched me in some way, shape or form,
- 2:05:26Speaker 2: and all of a sudden it felt like it's like
- 2:05:27Speaker 2: are you pouring hot tea on me or something that's
- 2:05:31Speaker 2: going on down there. It's just like crazy. Yeah, yeah,
- 2:05:34Speaker 2: I could never sleep in a queen's eze bed when
- 2:05:35Speaker 2: we go to places like we've got. If we go
- 2:05:37Speaker 2: to a friend's house and they have a queen size bed,
- 2:05:39Speaker 2: I'm like, I'll do the couch, you can take the bed.
- 2:05:41Speaker 2: I'm not sleeping any of that because I fling around. Man,
- 2:05:44Speaker 2: I I just fling around a bunch sometimes if I
- 2:05:47Speaker 2: can't sleep or it's warm, and I just feel like
- 2:05:49Speaker 2: I'm gonna smack her in the face while i'm doing it,
- 2:05:51Speaker 2: so I don't do it the king sized bed. I
- 2:05:53Speaker 2: sleep right to the edge of the bed. Is that
- 2:05:55Speaker 2: what you do?
- 2:05:55Speaker 12: I know?
- 2:05:56Speaker 2: I mean when I say on the edge of the bed,
- 2:05:58Speaker 2: I'm telling you I sleep on the dead edge of
- 2:06:00Speaker 2: the bed.
- 2:06:01Speaker 4: Sometimes I have to tuck my hand in just to
- 2:06:03Speaker 4: make sure I remember where the edge is, so I
- 2:06:04Speaker 4: don't take one in andvert and roll over and end
- 2:06:07Speaker 4: up pigting my face.
- 2:06:08Speaker 2: You are you a back sleeper or a.
- 2:06:10Speaker 3: Can't back sleep? But unless you want to, I will snore.
- 2:06:14Speaker 2: No, jack You a back sleeper, all of it, all
- 2:06:16Speaker 2: of it you do, all the sleeping start on the back,
- 2:06:19Speaker 2: and then you wind up what face down? Rarely sides
- 2:06:23Speaker 2: how good the knif's been? Yeah, then occasionally maybe a
- 2:06:26Speaker 2: little relief that way? Yeah? You doing? I do think.
- 2:06:29Speaker 2: I think they call it like the pelican there's a
- 2:06:31Speaker 2: name for it or whatever, where you sleep down and
- 2:06:33Speaker 2: then you throw your right leg up and like it
- 2:06:36Speaker 2: like a jack knife, and then you you turn your
- 2:06:38Speaker 2: left palm up. Are you sleeping on your stomach? Yeah? Yeah,
- 2:06:42Speaker 2: sleep on myself? Oh wow? Yeah, okay, what no? I mean?
- 2:06:45Speaker 4: They say that's a pretty dangerous one. Why, I don't know,
- 2:06:48Speaker 4: because a fat compressing your internal organs.
- 2:06:52Speaker 2: Yeah, it's the least healthy, healthy way to sleep out
- 2:06:56Speaker 2: of here.
- 2:06:56Speaker 4: Although I found out that the way I hold my
- 2:06:58Speaker 4: arms is very unhealthy as well, because I'll like rex,
- 2:07:02Speaker 4: I'll t rex my arms and then I'll fold my
- 2:07:05Speaker 4: hands underneath my head and I'll rest my chin.
- 2:07:08Speaker 2: Oh like you're taking like an Olin Mills baby picture.
- 2:07:13Speaker 4: But it's fine at the beginning, but then after you relax,
- 2:07:16Speaker 4: your head is heavy and it holds on those wrist tendons,
- 2:07:20Speaker 4: and then when you wake up, you're like, oh, I
- 2:07:22Speaker 4: needed those.
- 2:07:22Speaker 2: It's a shame about dab. How did you get that
- 2:07:24Speaker 2: carpal tunnels in? She's seeming like a little baby, like
- 2:07:29Speaker 2: a baby t rex. Yeah, alright four seven nine six

- 2:08:02Speaker 2: and she really did lack your head. But she does
- 2:08:04Speaker 2: remind me that it looks like a woman hair and
- 2:08:07Speaker 2: not so why so it close up at the bottom.

- 2:08:29Speaker 2: Jack is here as well. Let's do it's only money.
- 2:08:31Speaker 1: Oh, people passionate about planning for the future.
- 2:08:36Speaker 2: Ra the woman investment myth to build real?
- 2:08:41Speaker 15: Isn't that really just common sense financial advice?
- 2:08:43Speaker 2: It's boy, Oh okay, here's all the money. Wiscott Browns
- 2:08:50Speaker 2: from Edgewater Family World. It's not Scott Brown, it's Greg Rosser.
- 2:08:54Speaker 2: But get it out. Let what's up, big dog? How
- 2:09:01Speaker 2: you doing? Man?
- 2:09:01Speaker 8: All is well on this end, All is well on
- 2:09:03Speaker 8: your end. Ue, it's another year flying by.
- 2:09:06Speaker 2: Yeah, that's isn't it. That doesn't it seem that way?
- 2:09:09Speaker 2: Like Devi and I sit in the in the studio
- 2:09:10Speaker 2: because we've done this now for so long, and you're
- 2:09:12Speaker 2: encapsulated in these rooms. It seems like you go through
- 2:09:15Speaker 2: the mantra of coming into work leaving work. And we
- 2:09:18Speaker 2: were sitting and talking and she looked at me and
- 2:09:20Speaker 2: she goes, oh, by the way, it's the end of May. Yeah,
- 2:09:23Speaker 2: and it felt like we just went to the Christmas
- 2:09:24Speaker 2: party and it's America to fifty. Yeah. Yeah, you know,
- 2:09:28Speaker 2: it's America two fifty.
- 2:09:29Speaker 3: I even heard that Hobby Lobby already has their fall decorations.
- 2:09:32Speaker 2: Out, do they really? Yeah, that does not shock me
- 2:09:34Speaker 2: in the least.
- 2:09:34Speaker 8: And everybody in this room. Remember is the Bison in?
- 2:09:37Speaker 2: Oh yeah for sure. Yeah. Nineteen seventy six, I was
- 2:09:40Speaker 2: in uh, I was in I lived in West Virginia
- 2:09:42Speaker 2: at that time, and they had just opened the new
- 2:09:45Speaker 2: River Gorge Bridge, which is like one of the tallest
- 2:09:47Speaker 2: steel span bridges in the world. And and I think
- 2:09:50Speaker 2: still to this day, there's a day and I want
- 2:09:52Speaker 2: to say it maybe near there where they shut one
- 2:09:54Speaker 2: lane of it down so you can do like base
- 2:09:56Speaker 2: jumping and bungee jumping and all that stuff there. But
- 2:09:59Speaker 2: I was there for that. It was a big, big deal.
- 2:10:01Speaker 2: I remember that, oh for sure.
- 2:10:02Speaker 8: Yeah, Pittsburgh. So I've drove a driven over that bridge
- 2:10:04Speaker 8: a few times.
- 2:10:05Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it's pretty bad ass, right, isn't the West
- 2:10:07Speaker 2: Virginia one of the most beautiful states? And it sucks
- 2:10:10Speaker 2: because it has no economy whatsoever, one of the poorest
- 2:10:13Speaker 2: states in the nation, and it's one of the most
- 2:10:16Speaker 2: beautiful places in the US and it just does not
- 2:10:18Speaker 2: get any credit for it. Absolutely. Yeah. Well, Greg joins
- 2:10:22Speaker 2: us for it's only money. Of course, this is usually
- 2:10:23Speaker 2: either Scott or Bratcher. But the cool thing is is
- 2:10:26Speaker 2: Greg comes in with specialties in social security and medicare,
- 2:10:30Speaker 2: and of course he has some talking points here real
- 2:10:32Speaker 2: quick before we get started, man, I mean I've been reading.
- 2:10:34Speaker 2: I told the guys last segment that you know, and
- 2:10:36Speaker 2: I know this happens occasionally. You know, politicians will politic
- 2:10:40Speaker 2: they and you will initially hear, oh, well, you know,
- 2:10:43Speaker 2: social security is almost insolvent. They got to make a move, this,
- 2:10:46Speaker 2: that and the other. But now they have dates they do.
- 2:10:50Speaker 8: The trustees report is out and the latest report has
- 2:10:54Speaker 8: the Social Security Trust Fund going empty in six and
- 2:10:58Speaker 8: a half years.
- 2:10:59Speaker 2: Six and a half yes, good timing. Now, the funny
- 2:11:02Speaker 2: thing is is you're saying that and uh, you don't
- 2:11:04Speaker 2: really seem to have any stress about it, are you.
- 2:11:07Speaker 2: Are you confident that the government's going to turn around
- 2:11:10Speaker 2: and do something.
- 2:11:10Speaker 8: Or heavens no, no, no, no. My confidence comes from
- 2:11:15Speaker 8: a different place, but it's not in the government. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 2:11:18Speaker 8: my confidence comes mostly from the fact to twenty thirty
- 2:11:20Speaker 8: two sounds like it's about twenty.
- 2:11:21Speaker 2: Five years away. Yeah, yeah, right, But it's not. No,
- 2:11:24Speaker 2: it's six and a half years. Yeah, just six and
- 2:11:25Speaker 2: a half years. I mean, how will they really how
- 2:11:27Speaker 2: will they remedy this?
- 2:11:28Speaker 8: So what that means is social Security will never go
- 2:11:31Speaker 8: away as long as we have workers. Workers will continue
- 2:11:34Speaker 8: to pay in. But with the trust fund going empty,
- 2:11:37Speaker 8: that means that approximately twenty two percent reduction for everybody
- 2:11:41Speaker 8: on Social Security if it's not fixed, right, so there
- 2:11:45Speaker 8: would only be the funds coming in from payroll taxes
- 2:11:47Speaker 8: and that's it. That's it now, Is that what was
- 2:11:49Speaker 8: initially promised of for the most part.
- 2:11:52Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, So in other words, this twenty two percent
- 2:11:54Speaker 2: reduction really isn't a reduction at all. It's just going
- 2:11:57Speaker 2: back to what the norm should have been.
- 2:11:58Speaker 5: Or no.
- 2:11:59Speaker 2: Well no, by the way, that hits me in my wheelhouse,
- 2:12:01Speaker 2: pig dog, right, that hits me right around the time
- 2:12:04Speaker 2: when I started making that decision. So it's important to
- 2:12:06Speaker 2: me to hear this.
- 2:12:06Speaker 8: If somebody asked me what's the biggest flaw with Social Security?
- 2:12:09Speaker 8: I would say when it came out, it was starting
- 2:12:12Speaker 8: benefit at age sixty five, life expectancy was age sixty five, right, Yeah,
- 2:12:17Speaker 8: so if you got a little bonus, you got you know,
- 2:12:19Speaker 8: a couple bonus years of life. You got some Social
- 2:12:21Speaker 8: Security benefit. Now Social Security for retirement age for those
- 2:12:24Speaker 8: of us born in nineteen sixteen later is sixty seven.
- 2:12:27Speaker 8: And actually we're going to make it till eighty eight
- 2:12:29Speaker 8: and beyond for many, right, Yeah, yeah, I married couple
- 2:12:32Speaker 8: sixty five. One of them is going to make it
- 2:12:34Speaker 8: at ninety. And you know, the funny thing is is
- 2:12:35Speaker 8: you mentioned that a lot of people out there listening.
- 2:12:37Speaker 8: You know, you need to pay attention to your family's
- 2:12:39Speaker 8: lineage because that's a major factor in this. As you
- 2:12:43Speaker 8: talk to you know, financial advisors who talk about, you know,
- 2:12:45Speaker 8: when you take your school security, there are a lot
- 2:12:47Speaker 8: of arguments of taking.
- 2:12:48Speaker 2: It earlier as opposed to taking it late and waiting
- 2:12:50Speaker 2: for the big payout, as opposed to getting eight more
- 2:12:52Speaker 2: years or six more years of payments before you opt
- 2:12:55Speaker 2: in for a few thousand extra dollars and stuff. And
- 2:12:58Speaker 2: you know, that's that's a really interesting concept. But you know,
- 2:13:01Speaker 2: going into this, you know, if your dad, my dad's
- 2:13:04Speaker 2: eighty five years old, My grandfather lived at eighty three
- 2:13:07Speaker 2: years old, So genetically, I can you know, without any
- 2:13:09Speaker 2: mistakes or issues like that or stupid life decisions. You know,
- 2:13:12Speaker 2: I can kind of bet on making it into my
- 2:13:14Speaker 2: early eighties a little bit, so I have to kind
- 2:13:16Speaker 2: of make sure that my plan goes there. Yeah, my
- 2:13:19Speaker 2: number one reason there. There's a lot of reasons to wait.
- 2:13:22Speaker 2: There's a lot of reasons to go on early.
- 2:13:23Speaker 8: My number one reason to wait is if I want
- 2:13:26Speaker 8: to pass the largest possible survivor benefit. So when it
- 2:13:29Speaker 8: comes time for me, for example, to make a decision,
- 2:13:31Speaker 8: I'm born in nineteen sixty two, so I'm in that
- 2:13:33Speaker 8: wheelhouse as well. If at age sixty seven, i'm still working,
- 2:13:36Speaker 8: I can go on my Social Security benefit, but I
- 2:13:40Speaker 8: might delay to make my benefit as large as possible.
- 2:13:43Speaker 8: I'm older than my wife, I'm uglier than my wife.
- 2:13:46Speaker 8: I'm going to ask you for my wife. So the
- 2:13:48Speaker 8: number one reason for me to wait might be to
- 2:13:51Speaker 8: pass the larger benefit to her.
- 2:13:53Speaker 2: Gotcha. That's my favorite reason to wait. Oh gotcha.
- 2:13:55Speaker 8: Okay, I hate to speak in broadbrushes, but it's the guy.
- 2:13:58Speaker 8: We're older in jen We're going to pass first, sure,
- 2:14:02Speaker 8: So that's a great reason to wait. There's many other
- 2:14:04Speaker 8: reasons to go on early. I've had people that have
- 2:14:07Speaker 8: decided to go on early, unwind it after six months,
- 2:14:10Speaker 8: pay it back and then wait. And I've had people
- 2:14:12Speaker 8: flip the other way. I'm gonna wait, and then they
- 2:14:14Speaker 8: get a diagnosis, or they do some different metric, or
- 2:14:18Speaker 8: they decide on something else, and they go ahead and
- 2:14:20Speaker 8: go on now right, right, right, So there's no wrong
- 2:14:22Speaker 8: answer absent of you telling me when you're gonna die.
- 2:14:26Speaker 8: It's really math and comfort right right right makes the
- 2:14:29Speaker 8: most sense based up on my circumstances.
- 2:14:31Speaker 2: Right, if you make a decision to take it early,
- 2:14:33Speaker 2: you can actually change that.
- 2:14:34Speaker 8: You get six months. Oh boy, then you got to
- 2:14:36Speaker 8: pay it all back. Okay, So that doesn't happen very often,
- 2:14:39Speaker 8: all right, because most people who go on early go
- 2:14:41Speaker 8: on early because they need it, so they spend it,
- 2:14:43Speaker 8: so even if they change their mind, they don't have
- 2:14:44Speaker 8: it anymore to pay it.
- 2:14:45Speaker 2: Back, right, I am. Do people ask that question a
- 2:14:47Speaker 2: lot in regards to so security. As they approach that,
- 2:14:49Speaker 2: do they say, hey, give me the numbers on getting
- 2:14:51Speaker 2: it here or there or whatever?
- 2:14:52Speaker 5: Oh?
- 2:14:53Speaker 2: Is that one of the number one things you help
- 2:14:55Speaker 2: people with?
- 2:14:55Speaker 8: I do the math almost every every day. Really, I
- 2:14:58Speaker 8: get the phone call, Hey, I'm turning sixty two this year.
- 2:15:00Speaker 8: I understand I can go on my Social Security benefit.
- 2:15:02Speaker 8: My brother went on at sixty two. So the first
- 2:15:04Speaker 8: question is are you still working? Yes, then you can't
- 2:15:07Speaker 8: unless your income is less than twenty four four hundred
- 2:15:09Speaker 8: and eighty dollars, So no decision to make. But maybe
- 2:15:12Speaker 8: you're retired, maybe you work in part time, So then
- 2:15:13Speaker 8: it is a decision.
- 2:15:14Speaker 2: If I go one.
- 2:15:15Speaker 8: Now it's sixty two, I'm going to get a thirty
- 2:15:17Speaker 8: percent reduction in my benefit forever. It's a permanent lifetime reduction,
- 2:15:21Speaker 8: but I'm getting my benefit for five extra years. You
- 2:15:24Speaker 8: are yes, So then it's math. How long does it
- 2:15:26Speaker 8: do I have to live and make up for what
- 2:15:28Speaker 8: I left on the table by not taking it early?
- 2:15:31Speaker 2: Right? And then you have to factor in things in
- 2:15:33Speaker 2: increase in cost, increase in life expenses, medicare, how that
- 2:15:37Speaker 2: affects you life insurance or not life insurance, but medical
- 2:15:40Speaker 2: insurance as you get older. You know, once you get
- 2:15:42Speaker 2: the sixties, is it sixties five or seven for medicare?
- 2:15:44Speaker 8: Sixty five for Medicare eligibility sixty seven full retirement age
- 2:15:47Speaker 8: for those of us born nineteen sixty and later.
- 2:15:49Speaker 2: Gotcha?
- 2:15:50Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, yeah, Wow, there's a lot of metrics. The
- 2:15:52Speaker 8: person who has the easiest decision is the person who says,
- 2:15:55Speaker 8: I'm broke, I need it.
- 2:15:56Speaker 2: Okay, turn it on, right?
- 2:15:57Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 2:15:57Speaker 2: Yeah? Who please just turn it on? Yeah.
- 2:16:00Speaker 8: Most people aren't in the embroke, I need it window.
- 2:16:03Speaker 8: There are more does it make sense? Should I wait?
- 2:16:05Speaker 8: What about my survivor benefit? There's spousal benefit, There's a
- 2:16:08Speaker 8: lot to it. The point is you don't make it
- 2:16:10Speaker 8: in a bubble. Don't make that decision based upon what
- 2:16:12Speaker 8: you think you do.
- 2:16:15Speaker 2: You have more options with your sol scurty benefit than
- 2:16:18Speaker 2: most people believe, because you know, if you ask me
- 2:16:21Speaker 2: even I would be like, okay, the only really option
- 2:16:23Speaker 2: I have is to figure out when I'm going to
- 2:16:25Speaker 2: do it, And that's pretty much it is. That the case.
- 2:16:28Speaker 8: There are other options in the sense that everybody's coming
- 2:16:30Speaker 8: here from a different window. I like to say so
- 2:16:33Speaker 8: collectively there's a zillion options, but individually there might be
- 2:16:36Speaker 8: just a couple.
- 2:16:37Speaker 2: Right. It's just like medicare.
- 2:16:39Speaker 8: There's a zillion special election periods, just the ones you
- 2:16:41Speaker 8: qualify for, correct, But me being released from prison isn't
- 2:16:44Speaker 8: going to be one that I use.
- 2:16:45Speaker 2: If everything goes right, By the way, have the event
- 2:16:48Speaker 2: go on Saturday. Did you hear anything?
- 2:16:50Speaker 8: I did, Yes, I was not at it, but Bradtress
- 2:16:52Speaker 8: said it went really really well. Nice to hear well attended.
- 2:16:55Speaker 8: He said there was more people show up than the rsvp'.
- 2:16:58Speaker 2: Oh that's awesome. I love hearing that. And we did
- 2:16:59Speaker 2: have a caller in earlier or a texture say that
- 2:17:02Speaker 2: they went to the event and said that they learned
- 2:17:04Speaker 2: a lot and it was very beneficial. So we'll give
- 2:17:07Speaker 2: your heads up when we do another one here. Usually
- 2:17:09Speaker 2: it'll be in the fall. Perfect. Yeah, he said.
- 2:17:11Speaker 8: They had an hour presentation then an hour question.
- 2:17:13Speaker 2: Very nice, man, I love hearing that. So let's talk
- 2:17:15Speaker 2: about the Medica Medicare thing. And it says here that
- 2:17:18Speaker 2: Medicare is soon to cover weight loss med so they're
- 2:17:20Speaker 2: on the GLP one tip.
- 2:17:21Speaker 8: They are, so Medicare has never covered weight loss medications.
- 2:17:25Speaker 8: Two thousand and six, the prescription drug plans came out
- 2:17:27Speaker 8: Georgia Bush administration launched them. There's a list of therapeutic
- 2:17:31Speaker 8: classes that every prescription drug plan has to cover, you know,
- 2:17:34Speaker 8: things like cholesterol and blood pressure and diabetes and the
- 2:17:37Speaker 8: whole list of things that they cover. But weight loss
- 2:17:40Speaker 8: has never been one of the therapeutic classes. But starting
- 2:17:45Speaker 8: in July, like this July, there's going to be the
- 2:17:48Speaker 8: GLP one Bridge program, which will go from July through
- 2:17:52Speaker 8: the end of next year, just as ART will be extended.
- 2:17:56Speaker 8: But for right now, it's an eighteen month program where
- 2:17:58Speaker 8: somebody who is eligible can get on a GLP one
- 2:18:02Speaker 8: for a fifty dollars flat monthly fee.
- 2:18:05Speaker 2: And that's got to be because, I mean, what GLP
- 2:18:07Speaker 2: ones do for the body, I mean, it really is
- 2:18:09Speaker 2: going to reduce long term costs for people using Medicare
- 2:18:12Speaker 2: as their medical insurance because I mean, you know, less
- 2:18:15Speaker 2: heart issues, less cardiovascular issues. Well, I mean it doesn't
- 2:18:20Speaker 2: it It really does help quite a bit, So it
- 2:18:21Speaker 2: would reduce the overall cost long term, would it not correct?
- 2:18:24Speaker 8: And that's the plan. Medicare says about fourteen million people
- 2:18:27Speaker 8: will qualify for it. They don't know how many people
- 2:18:29Speaker 8: take advantage of it, but about fourteen million people will
- 2:18:32Speaker 8: qualify for the program. So you have to have a
- 2:18:34Speaker 8: prescription drug plan. You the weight loss plan doesn't run
- 2:18:39Speaker 8: through your prescription plan, but you have to have a
- 2:18:42Speaker 8: prescription plan. Then your doctor files for an authorization with CMS,
- 2:18:46Speaker 8: which is the center for Medicare. Medicaid services gets a
- 2:18:48Speaker 8: green light based upon your BMI and other conditions. Right, yeah,
- 2:18:55Speaker 8: you get a green light, you go to the pharmacy.
- 2:18:56Speaker 8: Fifty bucks a month. You're on will go VZ bound
- 2:18:59Speaker 8: in an another one I'm not familiar with, uh Manjara,
- 2:19:03Speaker 8: not Mondae Mondeo, but Fundeo Fundaeo. Oh oh, that's a
- 2:19:07Speaker 8: new GLP one. I'm not familiar with that.
- 2:19:09Speaker 2: It's my favorite snack and dance stores are great though.
- 2:19:13Speaker 8: Those three mets for fifty bucks a month. Now, a
- 2:19:15Speaker 8: lot of people out there might be thinking, oh cool,
- 2:19:17Speaker 8: now I can go from paying for the GOLP one
- 2:19:20Speaker 8: on my diabetic program to fifty bucks a month. No,
- 2:19:24Speaker 8: if I'm on a GOLP one on a Medicare party
- 2:19:28Speaker 8: because of diabetes, I can't flip the switch and then
- 2:19:31Speaker 8: go for the fifty dollars plan.
- 2:19:33Speaker 2: Oh wow, So.
- 2:19:34Speaker 8: There's you know, several million people that are thinking, oh cool,
- 2:19:36Speaker 8: now I'm going from a four hundred dollar cope down
- 2:19:39Speaker 8: to a fifty dollars cope.
- 2:19:40Speaker 5: No.
- 2:19:41Speaker 2: Yeah, if you're on it for a diabetes, you got
- 2:19:43Speaker 2: to stay on it for diabetes. And Laws just retired
- 2:19:45Speaker 2: and they couldn't wait because they wanted to get to
- 2:19:46Speaker 2: Medicare because of the cost savings. Is it free or
- 2:19:50Speaker 2: do you still have to pay something for Medicare? I
- 2:19:52Speaker 2: think there was a misconception there from them.
- 2:19:55Speaker 8: I love that I have people in my office all
- 2:19:57Speaker 8: the time. What do you mean I have to pay
- 2:19:58Speaker 8: for Medicare?
- 2:19:59Speaker 5: Right?
- 2:19:59Speaker 2: Yeah? Because I think the biggest misconception because they thought
- 2:20:01Speaker 2: it was going to be completely free and they turned
- 2:20:02Speaker 2: out now, obviously it's very affordable, but they did not
- 2:20:06Speaker 2: factor that in. I don't think for sure.
- 2:20:07Speaker 8: Part A, which is what's called hospital for most people
- 2:20:11Speaker 8: know premium. As long as I've been paying into FIIGHTA
- 2:20:13Speaker 8: taxes for forty quarters, I get Part A for no
- 2:20:16Speaker 8: cost to me. Part B, which covers my outpatient plus
- 2:20:19Speaker 8: my doctors in the hospital. Everybody pays for that. Premium
- 2:20:23Speaker 8: this year is two two ninety per month. Unless I've
- 2:20:26Speaker 8: got a lot of income from two years ago, then
- 2:20:28Speaker 8: I'm going to pay more for Part B.
- 2:20:30Speaker 2: Right. I heard that as well. And then it can
- 2:20:32Speaker 2: be and it can be significant.
- 2:20:33Speaker 8: It can be upwards of seven hundred dollars. But that's
- 2:20:35Speaker 8: a married couple finally jointly making over seven hundred and
- 2:20:38Speaker 8: fifty thousand dollars. Yeah, so not a lot of sympathy there.
- 2:20:41Speaker 2: No SymPy there.
- 2:20:43Speaker 8: Yeah, part I did not here. And I always make
- 2:20:45Speaker 8: the point too when I can that that couple who retired,
- 2:20:48Speaker 8: who doesn't have that income anymore, needs to file an appeal.
- 2:20:50Speaker 8: So I can appeal the IRMA of the income related
- 2:20:53Speaker 8: monthly adjustment amount that Medicare wants to charge me because
- 2:20:55Speaker 8: I made seven hundred fifty thousand dollars two years ago.
- 2:20:58Speaker 8: Not me, But you get my point. Sure, I can
- 2:21:01Speaker 8: appeal that and get that IRMA that adjustment dropped. Wow,
- 2:21:04Speaker 8: if wages go away, I can get it dropped. But
- 2:21:07Speaker 8: I can't get it dropped for capital gains. I can't
- 2:21:09Speaker 8: get it dropped for lottery winnings. It's just income reduction.
- 2:21:13Speaker 8: I can get that IRMA reduced or dropped.
- 2:21:15Speaker 2: Knowing this seems so mind dumbing, how did you stumble
- 2:21:18Speaker 2: into this part of the financial sector, man, Because I
- 2:21:22Speaker 2: mean it just doesn't seem like something that you would
- 2:21:24Speaker 2: want that anybody would be like, you know what, I
- 2:21:25Speaker 2: cannot wait to get in there and kind of get
- 2:21:27Speaker 2: through these Social Security information or Medicare information or you know,
- 2:21:31Speaker 2: how did this happen for you.
- 2:21:32Speaker 8: Well, you pick the right word. It was a stumble
- 2:21:35Speaker 8: and it's a continuing stumble. But twenty years ago I
- 2:21:37Speaker 8: got licensed for health in Life in Florida and I
- 2:21:40Speaker 8: was doing underage health insurance and that just kind of
- 2:21:44Speaker 8: morphed into people asking about Medicare. My client's underage sixty five,
- 2:21:48Speaker 8: then becoming sixty five having to learn about it. And
- 2:21:51Speaker 8: then I got involved with United Healthcare one year on
- 2:21:54Speaker 8: a leads program and it just blossomed, and I did
- 2:21:57Speaker 8: some seminars and it just turned into a sweet spot
- 2:21:59Speaker 8: for me.
- 2:21:59Speaker 2: Unbelievab man. I mean, what are the most asked questions
- 2:22:01Speaker 2: you get about Social Security and Medicare? Like when you
- 2:22:04Speaker 2: know the things you feel the most, the questions that
- 2:22:06Speaker 2: people want to know the answers to the most. The
- 2:22:08Speaker 2: number one question on Medicare is do I have to
- 2:22:10Speaker 2: go on Medicare if I'm still working? Right, That's the
- 2:22:12Speaker 2: number one question. So if I'm turning sixty five and
- 2:22:15Speaker 2: I'm still working and I have health insurance through employment
- 2:22:18Speaker 2: and there's more than twenty employees, Okay, are you getting
- 2:22:21Speaker 2: benefit after you do this or so?
- 2:22:22Speaker 12: Are you on?
- 2:22:22Speaker 2: Are you retired at sixty five, were still working at
- 2:22:24Speaker 2: sixty five? If I'm still working, okay, gotcha. At sixty five,
- 2:22:27Speaker 2: I'm still on my health insurance at work or my
- 2:22:30Speaker 2: spouse's health insurance through her work, and there's more than
- 2:22:34Speaker 2: twenty employees at my job or her job. Whichever plan
- 2:22:36Speaker 2: I'm on, I can do whichever I want to do.
- 2:22:38Speaker 2: I can go to Medicare if it makes more sense,
- 2:22:40Speaker 2: or I can stay on my health insurance through employment,
- 2:22:42Speaker 2: whichever makes more sense. Okay, And that's an easy decision.
- 2:22:45Speaker 2: It's math, right, what are you paying and what are
- 2:22:47Speaker 2: you BUYINGA Does it make more sense to go to medicare?
- 2:22:49Speaker 2: It's math.
- 2:22:51Speaker 8: So if it's the spouse who's on the plan more times,
- 2:22:54Speaker 8: it makes sense to go to Medicare because they are
- 2:22:57Speaker 8: paying more for their plan in most cases. Sure, So
- 2:23:00Speaker 8: that's the number one question. Now, of course, there's a
- 2:23:03Speaker 8: lot of nuances with am I own an ahsay plan?
- 2:23:05Speaker 2: Do I turn on Part A? Do I wait on
- 2:23:06Speaker 2: Part B?
- 2:23:07Speaker 8: So a lot of nuances in that decision, But that's
- 2:23:09Speaker 8: the number one decision. And then the same with Social Security.
- 2:23:12Speaker 8: I'm turning sixty two this year, can I go on?
- 2:23:15Speaker 8: Are you still working? Then the answer to that many
- 2:23:18Speaker 8: people are yep, still working making more than twenty four
- 2:23:20Speaker 8: four hundred and eighty dollars. You can't go on Social Security.
- 2:23:23Speaker 8: Then it's the weight at age sixty seven, should I
- 2:23:27Speaker 8: or should I get the gain? Because I can go
- 2:23:29Speaker 8: on early at sixty two, I can wait till age seventy.
- 2:23:32Speaker 8: So that's an eight year gap. So that's a lot
- 2:23:35Speaker 8: of variables in there. Yeah, because when when somebody hits
- 2:23:38Speaker 8: full retirement age, if they delay, social Security pays them
- 2:23:42Speaker 8: eight percent every year they wait up until age seventy. No, wait,
- 2:23:46Speaker 8: didn't know that guaranteed increase. But now we have to
- 2:23:49Speaker 8: factor in, well, what if I get a twenty two
- 2:23:51Speaker 8: percent reduction because the Social Security Trust.
- 2:23:53Speaker 2: Fund has gone bank run? Sure?
- 2:23:55Speaker 8: Yeah, so years ago I would say we're not going
- 2:23:57Speaker 8: to factor that in. There's a lot of reasons to go.
- 2:24:00Speaker 8: There's a lot of reasons not to, but not worrying
- 2:24:02Speaker 8: about the trust fund. Don't worry about it now that
- 2:24:04Speaker 8: I'm like, well, we're six and a half years out
- 2:24:06Speaker 8: and it ain't fixed. We need to at least have
- 2:24:08Speaker 8: it on our radar. Right, So if if I wait
- 2:24:12Speaker 8: and then I have a reduction and benefit because of
- 2:24:14Speaker 8: the Social Security Trust Fund going empty. That just destroyed
- 2:24:17Speaker 8: my whole strategy and waiting.
- 2:24:19Speaker 2: Right yah, yeah, yeah, is that a number?
- 2:24:21Speaker 1: Is that?
- 2:24:22Speaker 2: Are you getting a lot of questions about that since
- 2:24:23Speaker 2: the news has come out over the last couple of days,
- 2:24:25Speaker 2: that that's you know, that's a possibility. I'm sure you
- 2:24:27Speaker 2: were inundated with goals.
- 2:24:29Speaker 8: The biggest question is people think their social Security is
- 2:24:31Speaker 8: going away, right yeah, and it's a reduction. It's going
- 2:24:33Speaker 8: to feel like it's going away, but it's a reduction.
- 2:24:37Speaker 8: It's not going away. So as a way of workers,
- 2:24:38Speaker 8: we wa have social stry. You've paid that money and
- 2:24:40Speaker 8: it's your money. Absolutely, yeah, it's your money. They owe
- 2:24:43Speaker 8: you that money. It's yours. Absent a reason to wait,
- 2:24:45Speaker 8: I'm a fan of going on Was that again him
- 2:24:48Speaker 8: sent a good reason to wait? I'm a fan of
- 2:24:51Speaker 8: going on benefit?
- 2:24:52Speaker 1: You are?
- 2:24:53Speaker 2: I are at what age? So the early as possible asap?
- 2:24:57Speaker 2: Really yep?
- 2:24:59Speaker 8: In most cases. Now again there's a reason, there's some
- 2:25:01Speaker 8: really good reasons to wait for sure.
- 2:25:02Speaker 2: Is there a sweet spot? Like I mean, if it's
- 2:25:04Speaker 2: sixty two or sixty seven, is sixty three and a
- 2:25:07Speaker 2: half or sixty four? The sweet spot. Have you noticed
- 2:25:09Speaker 2: with your calculations that there is one of those like
- 2:25:13Speaker 2: magic numbers. No, there really is no sweet spot. Yeah,
- 2:25:15Speaker 2: it's just based on the persons situation.
- 2:25:17Speaker 8: Correct, exactly correct, And it's just math. If I wait,
- 2:25:20Speaker 8: I'm leaving money on the table, then when I go
- 2:25:23Speaker 8: on I get more money, how many of the more
- 2:25:25Speaker 8: moneies does it take to make up for what I
- 2:25:26Speaker 8: left behind?
- 2:25:27Speaker 2: And I mean Scott mentions this all the time, your
- 2:25:29Speaker 2: quality of life. I mean, what is your body going
- 2:25:30Speaker 2: to be like at seventy one years old because you've
- 2:25:32Speaker 2: waited those time to get the extra money. But you
- 2:25:34Speaker 2: know you can't wait board anymore. You can't do sale
- 2:25:36Speaker 2: anymore because your body just won't do it. You can't
- 2:25:38Speaker 2: do the things you want physically because you're not there.
- 2:25:41Speaker 2: And that's one of the things he talks about about
- 2:25:43Speaker 2: taking it early because you're getting that money early. It's
- 2:25:46Speaker 2: less for sure, but now you have more life to
- 2:25:49Speaker 2: do that.
- 2:25:49Speaker 8: With one of my favorite analogies, there's three stages to retirement.
- 2:25:53Speaker 2: Go go is logo no go? When do you want
- 2:25:56Speaker 2: more money? Oh?
- 2:25:57Speaker 12: Really?
- 2:25:57Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 2:25:57Speaker 8: Now somebody might say my NOG stage might be thirty
- 2:26:00Speaker 8: years because my parents love to be one hundred and seven.
- 2:26:02Speaker 8: So they might say, I want to hedge against inflation.
- 2:26:04Speaker 8: I'm going to wait as long as possible, get the
- 2:26:05Speaker 8: biggest benefit for as long as possible.
- 2:26:07Speaker 2: I'm down for that.
- 2:26:08Speaker 8: That makes perfect sense. But most people are like, well,
- 2:26:11Speaker 8: I want that money when I'm traveling, visiting the grandkids,
- 2:26:14Speaker 8: putting gas in the boat, That's when i want my money.
- 2:26:16Speaker 2: So I'm going to take it now, right sure, And
- 2:26:18Speaker 2: a lot of has to do also with other investments
- 2:26:20Speaker 2: in other situations they have as well. Because if you
- 2:26:22Speaker 2: have a guy sitting there with like three and a
- 2:26:23Speaker 2: half million dollars in their four one K I mean
- 2:26:26Speaker 2: that few thousand bucks from social Security, of course that'll
- 2:26:28Speaker 2: be nice, but it's not going to break the bank
- 2:26:29Speaker 2: and it's not going to change their life. Correct.
- 2:26:31Speaker 8: That can be a reason to wait.
- 2:26:32Speaker 13: Now.
- 2:26:32Speaker 8: I'm going to pass a larger benefit to my spouse
- 2:26:35Speaker 8: because we've got assets, we've got money. We don't need
- 2:26:37Speaker 8: our social Security. But that person doesn't need their Social
- 2:26:41Speaker 8: Security has intended to leave. I've been paying in for
- 2:26:43Speaker 8: forty years.
- 2:26:45Speaker 2: Let's go. I'm getting that money. Bring it back, give
- 2:26:47Speaker 2: me thatad cash for sure.
- 2:26:48Speaker 8: I'll put it in a five twenty nine for the grandkid.
- 2:26:50Speaker 2: Whatever, but I want it. Edgewater Familywealth dot Com. If
- 2:26:53Speaker 2: you want to talk to Greg Rosseler about these issues,
- 2:26:55Speaker 2: or Scott or Bratch or any of the people at
- 2:26:56Speaker 2: the offices about situations in your financial world, what or
- 2:26:59Speaker 2: not when to go on medicare, when to take your benefit,
- 2:27:01Speaker 2: when to do these things against what you have, and
- 2:27:03Speaker 2: what's coming up in the future. These guys do it
- 2:27:05Speaker 2: better than anybody out there. This is all he specializes in.
- 2:27:09Speaker 2: And this is kind of the great advice you can
- 2:27:10Speaker 2: get at Edgewater Family Well thirty eight years guys, aspiduciaries
- 2:27:14Speaker 2: right here in Central Fourida. Making sure that your portfolio
- 2:27:17Speaker 2: lasts as long as possible, to make sure you're making
- 2:27:19Speaker 2: these great decisions when it comes to these big life decisions,
- 2:27:21Speaker 2: because you said it best. It's not reversible. If you
- 2:27:24Speaker 2: make a bad decision there, it could cost you for life.
- 2:27:26Speaker 2: So it's important to do that. That's Edgewaterfamilywealth dot Com.

- 2:27:45Speaker 2: Say a little break. We'll come back and get Deb's
- 2:27:47Speaker 2: news and get the hell out of here on a
- 2:27:48Speaker 2: Tuesday or right. Welcome back to the Jim Colbert Show.

- 2:27:55Speaker 2: Of course Greg had to go the segment. It's only
- 2:27:57Speaker 2: one segment. If you want to go to Edgewaterfamilywealth dot

- 2:28:04Speaker 2: without a doubt. There is no one in the world
- 2:28:06Speaker 2: I can imagine myself talking to other than Greg when
- 2:28:09Speaker 2: it comes to finding out about social Security and all
- 2:28:12Speaker 2: the intricacies and the way he explains it is so great.
- 2:28:15Speaker 2: And if you miss that segment every Saturday morning at
- 2:28:19Speaker 2: seven thirty, you can hear it again. That's right right here,
- 2:28:22Speaker 2: I'm Real Radio. That's right absolutely, it's again. That's Edgewaterfamilywealth

- 2:28:30Speaker 2: Good time for You heard it here first on The
- 2:28:33Speaker 2: Jim Colbert Show.
- 2:28:35Speaker 4: The Mount Dora Police Department continues its active investigation into
- 2:28:38Speaker 4: the disappearance of missing mom Nicole Baldwin, who's been missing
- 2:28:42Speaker 4: since November twenty twenty three. Now, despite extensive search efforts
- 2:28:46Speaker 4: over the past two years, Miss Baldwin hasn't been found,
- 2:28:49Speaker 4: and based on the circumstances surrounding our disappearance, the case
- 2:28:52Speaker 4: is being investigated as a homicide. So today, Mount Dora
- 2:28:56Speaker 4: Police Department investigators, along with f DOT personnel, are currently
- 2:29:00Speaker 4: raining and sifting a four acre retention pond in Deltna
- 2:29:05Speaker 4: located on to Burry Avenue between Enterprise Road and North Road,
- 2:29:09Speaker 4: and detectives plan to remain on that site through Thursday. Yikes,
- 2:29:13Speaker 4: Alligator Alcatraz is being cleared out as hurricane season gets underway.
- 2:29:17Speaker 4: I says the transfers are for safety, but hasn't released
- 2:29:21Speaker 4: how many people were relocated or where they're going. The facility,
- 2:29:25Speaker 4: set up last summer in the Big Cyprus Preserve has
- 2:29:28Speaker 4: face lawsuits and complaints of her conditions. Governor Ron De
- 2:29:31Speaker 4: Santis says it was always meant to be temporary. A
- 2:29:35Speaker 4: federal appeals court has allowed operations to continue for now.
- 2:29:39Speaker 2: So what do they do with it? They tear it
- 2:29:40Speaker 2: down and they just go put it somewhere like a
- 2:29:42Speaker 2: carnival ride until we need another one hundred thousand square
- 2:29:45Speaker 2: foot tent. Is that I mean? I'm kind of being serious?
- 2:29:48Speaker 2: Oh no, I know, I just don't have.
- 2:29:51Speaker 3: This thing was supposed to stay? Was my understanding?
- 2:29:53Speaker 2: Was?
- 2:29:54Speaker 6: You know?
- 2:29:55Speaker 14: All right?
- 2:29:55Speaker 4: A blueberry sized thermometer could soon give doctors a look
- 2:29:59Speaker 4: at body temperature from the inside. MIT researchers unveiled the
- 2:30:04Speaker 4: swallowble sensor Monday. It sends readings from inside the gut,
- 2:30:07Speaker 4: where doctors can get a closer look at the body's
- 2:30:10Speaker 4: core temperature.
- 2:30:11Speaker 3: Swallow The device can help spot fever, oh my god, infection.
- 2:30:18Speaker 4: Or dangerous drops some body temperature earlier successful in animal testing,
- 2:30:24Speaker 4: but still has to be tested in a human before
- 2:30:26Speaker 4: it can reach hospitals.
- 2:30:28Speaker 2: It's just a new way to check your core temperature. Exactly?
- 2:30:31Speaker 2: Are we use differently? We use a different way of
- 2:30:35Speaker 2: by place and you heard it here first Tom and
