- 2:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: Which we don't have to talk about, but no, yeah.
- 2:08SPEAKER_02: It's uh it's new and it's um overwhelming and I have to commute an hour and twenty minutes like an absolute mug.
- 2:16SPEAKER_01: An hour and twenty minutes?
- 2:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's disgusting.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: Is it the other side of London?
- 2:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's in two to Yeah, it's not even glamorous.
- 2:27SPEAKER_02: But it's okay.
- 2:29SPEAKER_02: I'm getting paid, so Yeah.
- 2:32SPEAKER_02: It's all good.
- 2:33SPEAKER_02: But yeah, um I feel like because I was on the commute and obviously I wasn't speaking to anyone and now I'm speaking to you, it feels really weird.
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: Well, did you not speak to anyone the whole day?
- 2:44SPEAKER_02: Pretty much not, really.
- 2:48SPEAKER_02: Um no, I was just like working in silence.
- 2:52SPEAKER_02: I just I made a yeah, I made some polite conversation and then I and then I bounced out of there.
- 2:58SPEAKER_02: 4 30 on the dot.
- 2:59SPEAKER_01: 4 30.
- 3:00SPEAKER_01: At least you finish at 4 30.
- 3:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I do because I start at 8 30 and I take a half hour lunch.
- 3:07SPEAKER_02: But no one else does.
- 3:08SPEAKER_02: Everyone is there until like 5 36 and I'm like, bye.
- 3:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: I I work right until the time I'm scheduled to work.
- 3:17SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I'm not staying any longer than that.
- 3:20SPEAKER_02: I I probably will eventually, but like I'm new.
- 3:23SPEAKER_02: So I'm gonna Isn't that the time that you should stay late?
- 3:27SPEAKER_02: I feel like I get I get into work really early, like earlier than my scheduled time.
- 3:31SPEAKER_01: You get uh you get into work earlier than everyone else.
- 3:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: That's fine then.
- 3:35SPEAKER_01: So that's that's not a problem.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:38SPEAKER_01: No, I I yeah.
- 3:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah, anyway.
- 3:41SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 3:42SPEAKER_01: I'm on I'm on this weird schedule now where I'm like, there's no like set final time for me, so I don't know.
- 3:47SPEAKER_01: I never know exactly when I'm gonna finish.
- 3:49SPEAKER_02: Really?
- 3:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:51SPEAKER_02: Because you just work until it ends.
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it just basically until it ends.
- 3:55SPEAKER_01: Well that I know the absolute cut-off point, which is my last train, where I have to be like, sorry guys, I've gotta go.
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: And then like leave.
- 4:03SPEAKER_01: But other than that, I can just be like it could be any time between like maybe nine o'clock and eleven o'clock.
- 4:10SPEAKER_02: It could be any point that that's Well, when is your last train?
- 4:14SPEAKER_01: My last train is 12.30, so I have to be out of there by 12.
- 4:18SPEAKER_02: Hmm, okay.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: That's some late hours Yeah, but I don't I do start late.
- 4:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you start in the afternoon, right?
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: I start at like five o'clock.
- 4:29SPEAKER_02: Oh what?
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: So if you start at five and you finish at nine sometimes, you just work four hours.
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 4:35SPEAKER_02: What?
- 4:37SPEAKER_02: Do you feel like do you feel wronged that you took the train all the way in?
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: No, it's not that bad.
- 4:44SPEAKER_01: It's only like 40 minutes the train.
- 4:46SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay, yeah, that's fine.
- 4:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: If I'm working in King's Cross, that's fine.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: If I'm working at Soho, then it then it's like Yeah.
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: It's a little bit worse.
- 4:57SPEAKER_02: As if your commute is shorter than mine and you're not even in London.
- 5:01SPEAKER_01: I am basically in London.
- 5:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 5:03SPEAKER_01: I'm close I'm closer to you than you are to Tooting.
- 5:07SPEAKER_02: Are you?
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 5:09SPEAKER_02: Oh, alright, whatever.
- 5:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 5:11SPEAKER_02: Sounding London is so uh such a pain.
- 5:14SPEAKER_02: It's it sounds cool to live there, but it you can't get anywhere else.
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: I wouldn't yeah.
- 5:20SPEAKER_01: I don't ever want to live in the south.
- 5:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no.
- 5:25SPEAKER_02: Nah.
- 5:26SPEAKER_01: Have you ever lived in the south?
- 5:27SPEAKER_02: Have I ever lived south?
- 5:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 5:30SPEAKER_02: No.
- 5:31unknown: Wait.
- 5:32SPEAKER_01: Just in the north.
- 5:32SPEAKER_01: Or east London.
- 5:33SPEAKER_02: Wait, hold on, what?
- 5:34SPEAKER_01: South London.
- 5:35SPEAKER_01: Have you ever lived in South East?
- 5:36SPEAKER_02: I'm in South London.
- 5:37SPEAKER_02: I'm in South East London now.
- 5:39SPEAKER_01: Kind of.
- 5:40unknown: It's south.
- 5:41SPEAKER_02: It's quite personally.
- 5:44SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, no.
- 5:45SPEAKER_02: We've given too much away already.
- 5:46SPEAKER_02: I know where I work.
- 5:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, okay.
- 5:53SPEAKER_02: Um, I won't say what you do either.
- 5:55SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 5:57SPEAKER_01: Um Yeah, but I feel like you're on the other side of the south, then at least.
- 6:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 6:04SPEAKER_02: Not like I don't know, Brixton.
- 6:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's a place.
- 6:12SPEAKER_01: No, I I remember Brixton being Brixton takes forever to get to.
- 6:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Brixton.
- 6:18SPEAKER_02: What oh yeah, okay.
- 6:20SPEAKER_02: I don't know, and we're not gonna say where you live.
- 6:23SPEAKER_01: No, I have to go to to get to Brixton, I have to go 40 minutes to Hybrid and Islington and then from there I get on the Victoria line.
- 6:35SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay.
- 6:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 6:37SPEAKER_01: So, yeah.
- 6:38SPEAKER_02: This is good.
- 6:39SPEAKER_01: This is good um Good good uh location geography.
- 6:44SPEAKER_02: This is good, I'm sure your listeners.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: Especially for everyone who's not in London.
- 6:48SPEAKER_02: I'm sure your listeners have not tuned out by now.
- 6:55SPEAKER_01: I'm not even talking about the underground, I'm talking about the overground as well, for most of it.
- 6:59SPEAKER_01: Um, so let's talk about what you actually came on here to talk about, which is the movie Scooby-Doo.
- 7:07SPEAKER_02: Scooby-Doo?
- 7:08SPEAKER_02: Oh my goodness.
- 7:09SPEAKER_02: It's such a good movie, Yanith.
- 7:11SPEAKER_02: I literally would lie down in the road and let the mystery mobile, whatever it's called, run over me.
- 7:18SPEAKER_01: It's such a good movie that you don't even know what it's called.
- 7:20SPEAKER_01: Like the What is it called?
- 7:22SPEAKER_02: Mystery Mystery Machine.
- 7:24SPEAKER_01: Mystery Machine.
- 7:24SPEAKER_02: Mystery machine.
- 7:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 7:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 7:27SPEAKER_01: Um, it's 30% and 39% from the audience.
- 7:35SPEAKER_02: That's disgusting.
- 7:37SPEAKER_01: Mmm.
- 7:38SPEAKER_01: They're lying.
- 7:39SPEAKER_01: They're like 250,000 plus people are lying.
- 7:43SPEAKER_02: That is ridiculous.
- 7:45SPEAKER_02: I don't know anyone who hates that movie.
- 7:47SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 7:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 7:49SPEAKER_02: Wait, did you see that?
- 7:49SPEAKER_01: I don't know anyone that talks about it.
- 7:51SPEAKER_02: Well.
- 7:52SPEAKER_02: You haven't asked them about it yet.
- 7:55SPEAKER_01: Wait, so like when did you see it when it came out for the first time?
- 7:59SPEAKER_02: I didn't see it in the cinema.
- 8:00SPEAKER_02: I think I was too young.
- 8:02SPEAKER_02: Too young?
- 8:03SPEAKER_02: But I saw I saw I mean it's 20 years old.
- 8:07SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 8:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 8:09SPEAKER_01: I was like looking at the look at it, I was 13.
- 8:12SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 8:13SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 8:14SPEAKER_02: I so okay, I didn't watch it in the cinema, but my parents, like, we have like we have a big batch of like pirated DVDs.
- 8:24SPEAKER_02: And we would go, like, every time we go back to Malaysia, my parents would just come back with this collection of films that we that were released in the past three years, and then we would like work our way through them.
- 8:37SPEAKER_02: And I think Stevie D was one of them.
- 8:39SPEAKER_01: Did you listen to the the uh episode with white on white chicks?
- 8:44SPEAKER_02: No.
- 8:44SPEAKER_01: Oh, because someone else was Nikita Redkar was talking about how she when she went to Malaysia she used to buy loads of pirate.
- 8:50SPEAKER_01: Oh, really?
- 8:52SPEAKER_02: It's a thing.
- 8:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's uh it's it was that's where I got all our.
- 8:58SPEAKER_01: I bought loads in Thailand and brought them back.
- 9:00SPEAKER_01: Did you?
- 9:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean it's great.
- 9:04SPEAKER_02: It's great.
- 9:05SPEAKER_01: About this time, actually it would have been this year uh this came out.
- 9:09SPEAKER_01: Oh really?
- 9:09SPEAKER_01: You didn't buy this.
- 9:11SPEAKER_02: That's a shame.
- 9:11SPEAKER_02: And you've only just watched it, haven't you?
- 9:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I only just watched it for the I think I've seen like bits and pieces over the years, but I never I've never actually sat down and watched it until this afternoon.
- 9:21SPEAKER_02: Oh dear Yanis.
- 9:23SPEAKER_02: And I really want to know what you thought about it.
- 9:26SPEAKER_01: Well, I thought I was too old for it when it came out.
- 9:28SPEAKER_01: Um however, this is like a lot more adult than I realised it was gonna be.
- 9:35SPEAKER_02: I know! Yeah, go on.
- 9:38SPEAKER_01: Oh, I was gonna say, like, so originally this was written to be like an R-rated, like rude adult film and then and then it got toned down because of like the studio.
- 9:51SPEAKER_02: I know, and but they kept some of it in.
- 9:54SPEAKER_01: They yeah, they did, they kept they kept a lot of the like they kept a lot of innuendo.
- 9:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 9:59SPEAKER_01: Which is good.
- 10:00SPEAKER_01: I I liked it.
- 10:01SPEAKER_02: I had I read that they had to like CGI out a lot of cleavage.
- 10:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 10:07SPEAKER_01: They had to CGI out of cleavage, they cut out any reference to Velma being a lesbian.
- 10:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 10:14SPEAKER_01: And they cut out any reference to ac actually actually Shaggy being a stoner.
- 10:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, well, some of it was still kind of in there.
- 10:21SPEAKER_01: It's still in there, yeah.
- 10:22SPEAKER_01: But it's all it's all the thing is, it's all still in there, but it's just like you have to look out for it.
- 10:27SPEAKER_02: It's um yeah, yeah, like Mary Jane.
- 10:30SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 10:31SPEAKER_01: The girl called Mary Jane.
- 10:33SPEAKER_01: Like Resistance, oh that's my favourite name.
- 10:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 10:37SPEAKER_01: Um so you saw it for the first time when your parents brought you back from Malaysia?
- 10:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 10:47SPEAKER_02: I don't remember how old I was.
- 10:48SPEAKER_01: Was it a so was this a like a like a filmed in the cinema version or was it a was it a proper version?
- 10:56SPEAKER_02: It was like a proper DVD version.
- 10:59SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 10:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 11:00SPEAKER_02: But it does look weird.
- 11:01SPEAKER_02: Like I've got the DVD with me now.
- 11:03SPEAKER_02: It's like obviously been printed on really badly, like, oh can I put it in front of you?
- 11:08SPEAKER_02: Oh, what it's I want to see what it looks like.
- 11:10SPEAKER_02: It's like in a it's like in a loose like.
- 11:13SPEAKER_02: Oh, it's one of those sleeves, yeah.
- 11:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I remember those.
- 11:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 11:16SPEAKER_02: I can't find it now, but um yeah, and it was like the first that wasn't that was me watching a horror movie.
- 11:26SPEAKER_02: Or like a scary movie, because I was a a very nervous child.
- 11:33SPEAKER_01: I never would have guessed.
- 11:36SPEAKER_02: How dare you?
- 11:40SPEAKER_02: Um I watched I used to watch the cartoons.
- 11:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 11:43SPEAKER_01: Like every kid did.
- 11:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but not like willingly.
- 11:47SPEAKER_01: Not obsessively.
- 11:47SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 11:48SPEAKER_02: Like I I I think I watched one to do with like zombies, and I accidentally watched it when I was around my friend's house at some holidays, and I couldn't sleep for a week from the cartoon.
- 12:01SPEAKER_02: I w it f it scared me so much.
- 12:03SPEAKER_02: I was probably like seven or eight or something.
- 12:05SPEAKER_02: But I was yeah, it really f freaked me out.
- 12:10SPEAKER_02: I yeah, not not for me.
- 12:12SPEAKER_02: So the fact that I could like watch this movie, I don't know how old I was.
- 12:17SPEAKER_01: Uh well the reviews here are saying like one of the the top review here says it's too scary for most kids.
- 12:22SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay, well then I feel really brave.
- 12:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 12:28SPEAKER_01: I don't think it is that scary speci in particular.
- 12:32SPEAKER_02: Um no, neither do I.
- 12:34SPEAKER_02: There's like a few bits that I remember that like stuck with me.
- 12:37SPEAKER_01: A couple of the monsters maybe might be a little bit scary for them, but like Yeah, I don't know.
- 12:42SPEAKER_01: Not o not more so than any other kids' movie.
- 12:45SPEAKER_02: I think it's like the monsters look silly enough not to be that scary.
- 12:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 12:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 12:53SPEAKER_01: And I don't know.
- 12:55SPEAKER_01: So, like, for for anyone who hasn't seen it, it's obviously based on um the cartoon Scooby-Doo, who which everyone knows.
- 13:04SPEAKER_01: But basically, it's like the the five what's the four uh people plus the dog Scooby-Doo who Fred, Daphne, Velma, and Shaggy who solve mysteries together, and they're like, are they teenagers?
- 13:17SPEAKER_01: How old are they supposed to be?
- 13:18SPEAKER_02: They're definitely not teenagers in this movie.
- 13:20SPEAKER_01: No, but they could be supposed to be teenagers.
- 13:23SPEAKER_02: They could be.
- 13:24SPEAKER_02: I don't think they are supposed to be, because like there's a cool there's like a callback from when they're in a school.
- 13:32SPEAKER_01: Is there?
- 13:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like Velma's like, oh, that was the best time of my life.
- 13:38SPEAKER_02: And she goes on about how beautiful how like beautiful Daphne was and how good King of Fred was.
- 13:47SPEAKER_01: Apparently they cut loads of scenes when they're at the airport, um when they're there's like a flashback to each of them what they've been doing in those two years, and they cut all those out because it was just going on too long.
- 13:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think that's that was a wise decision.
- 14:02SPEAKER_01: Uh but yeah, so this is basically this cuts to like two years after they've all split up and like left each other, basically, and they all get uh an in a mysterious invitation to go to this island to this island resort to investigate s like these these weird things going on.
- 14:20SPEAKER_01: Spooky island.
- 14:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, spooky island it's called Couldn't be more on the nose.
- 14:26SPEAKER_01: Um and they they get brought back, they just like return together to go and solve the mysteries, basically.
- 14:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:35SPEAKER_02: Um Reluctantly Because they broke up on Well, yeah, because they broke up like on bad terms.
- 14:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:43SPEAKER_01: The only two that aren't reluctant to do it are uh Shaggy and Scooby.
- 14:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:47SPEAKER_01: They like enjoy being around everyone still.
- 14:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 14:50SPEAKER_01: Um They end on bad terms, but it's kind of like it's a bit forced.
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: It's kind of nothing they end on.
- 15:00SPEAKER_01: Like the bad terms they end on aren't aren't really anything.
- 15:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it it's not a good thing.
- 15:03SPEAKER_01: It's like I wanna leave.
- 15:05SPEAKER_01: No, I wanna leave, and that's it.
- 15:06SPEAKER_01: That's the only That's what kind of just happens, and they just uh Yeah, and then what does Shaggy say?
- 15:14SPEAKER_02: Oh Shaggy like tr is trying to make them all feel better.
- 15:17SPEAKER_02: This is when they're on the brink of breaking up, and he's trying to make them all feel better, and they take it the wrong way, and then they all leave.
- 15:25SPEAKER_01: What I did like, I think the casting in this is perfect.
- 15:29SPEAKER_02: The casting is the it's the best casting of any film ever made.
- 15:35unknown: Ever.
- 15:37SPEAKER_01: Wow, that is that is that is a bold claim.
- 15:41SPEAKER_01: I will say it's the best casting you could have possibly asked for for this movie at this time.
- 15:47SPEAKER_02: Yes, Matthew Lil Matthew Lillard, is that his name?
- 15:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Matthew Lillard is like the best shaggy he's Shaggy.
- 15:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they obviously there's a reason he's continued to play Shaggy in voiceover over the years.
- 15:59SPEAKER_02: Oh, has he?
- 16:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 16:00SPEAKER_02: Oh I didn't know that.
- 16:01SPEAKER_01: He's done it like he's still doing it to this day.
- 16:05SPEAKER_02: Wow, he yeah, that's um that's impressive.
- 16:09SPEAKER_01: Um And then we have um Freddie Prince Jr.
- 16:13SPEAKER_01: and Sarah Michelle Geller as Fred and Daphne, who were a couple at the time and just like embody though embody those characters, and then Linda Cardellini as Velma, again another great perfect casting.
- 16:26SPEAKER_01: And uh yeah, those are the those are the main four, and then Scooby-Doo is just the voiceover, the guy that's doing the voiceover, Neil Fanning.
- 16:35SPEAKER_01: Um don't know who he is, really, but no, me neither.
- 16:38SPEAKER_01: Um apparently he was on set feeding them the lines though.
- 16:42SPEAKER_02: Oh really?
- 16:42SPEAKER_02: Was he like acting it out?
- 16:44SPEAKER_01: I think so.
- 16:45SPEAKER_02: I read somewhere that he and Matthew Lillard became really good friends because apparently Matthew Lillard is a very, very nice person.
- 16:55SPEAKER_01: Awww, good and then the villain technically I mean kind of.
- 17:06SPEAKER_01: Kind of it's kind of mondavarious who's the lit the I I'll say it's like it's he's the one running the island, played by Rowan Atkinson.
- 17:16SPEAKER_02: Mr.
- 17:16SPEAKER_02: B.
- 17:18SPEAKER_01: The one downside, he's not in this anywhere near enough.
- 17:22SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, you're right, actually he's kind of wasted.
- 17:25SPEAKER_02: A bit of a waste, isn't it?
- 17:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 17:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they could have chucked him in a bit more.
- 17:30SPEAKER_02: Um Yeah, you're right.
- 17:34SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 17:35SPEAKER_01: It's just like if you're gonna get someone that big, why relegate them to like such a small role?
- 17:41SPEAKER_01: Especially if they're like the the head of the island.
- 17:44SPEAKER_01: Um then we got Isla Fisher, who is Mary Jane.
- 17:48SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, Isla Fisher.
- 17:50SPEAKER_01: Um, who apparently was for the role of I think it said it's Ed Velmore or Daphne.
- 17:59SPEAKER_00: Oh really?
- 18:02SPEAKER_01: Where did I see it?
- 18:04SPEAKER_02: You obviously know more trivia than I do.
- 18:06SPEAKER_02: I'm reading the trivia.
- 18:07SPEAKER_01: I'm reading the through the trivia.
- 18:08SPEAKER_01: I've read through the trivia.
- 18:10SPEAKER_01: Uh da da da Oh, there's some weird trivia about who was supposed to be cast who was like cast over the years and like dropped out.
- 18:20SPEAKER_01: But Really?
- 18:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so like who I want you to like try and imagine who do you think who do you think would play each role?
- 18:28SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 18:29SPEAKER_01: If you had to cast them, who would you cast?
- 18:31SPEAKER_01: In the 90s.
- 18:33SPEAKER_02: In the nineties?
- 18:35SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay.
- 18:36SPEAKER_02: Um I'm just gonna list actors that I knew existed back then.
- 18:40SPEAKER_02: Uh Rhys Witherspoon.
- 18:42SPEAKER_02: Daphne.
- 18:44SPEAKER_02: Um uh Oh my god, I don't even know what it is.
- 18:48SPEAKER_01: It doesn't say anyone for Daphne, but it does it does say people for Shaggy and Velma.
- 18:53SPEAKER_02: Velma?
- 18:54SPEAKER_02: I can't imagine anyone apart from Linda Cardal Cardalini.
- 18:58SPEAKER_01: Cardalini.
- 18:59SPEAKER_02: Cardalini.
- 19:00SPEAKER_02: Um her first role.
- 19:02SPEAKER_01: No, no, no.
- 19:03SPEAKER_01: She's been she was so she was in a TV show called Freaks and Geeks in.
- 19:07SPEAKER_02: Oh yes, of course.
- 19:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 19:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I forgot about that.
- 19:10SPEAKER_01: And that was like three years before this.
- 19:12SPEAKER_02: Okay, I can't.
- 19:13SPEAKER_01: I don't think you'll get Daphne uh I don't think you'll get the Velma ones.
- 19:16SPEAKER_02: Okay, Lisa Coudreau.
- 19:18SPEAKER_01: No, no, no.
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: Uh okay, so in the in 1996, Jim Carey was attached to play Shaggy.
- 19:28SPEAKER_02: No!
- 19:29SPEAKER_01: Uh and Sarah Gilbert was attached to play Velma.
- 19:35SPEAKER_02: Who's that?
- 19:36SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 19:37SPEAKER_01: Uh at one point Kevin Smith was attached to direct, but dropped out.
- 19:43SPEAKER_02: And then Mike Myers Mike Myers, yes.
- 19:47SPEAKER_02: He was gonna write it or something, right?
- 19:50SPEAKER_01: Uh I think he was supposed to play Shaggy.
- 19:53SPEAKER_02: Oh! For some reason I in my head he was like down to write it.
- 19:58SPEAKER_01: Maybe he would maybe he would have written it.
- 20:00SPEAKER_01: I can see him writing it, but playing one of those roles, no.
- 20:04SPEAKER_03: Hmm.
- 20:05SPEAKER_01: I would not like it.
- 20:07SPEAKER_01: Oh, just seen two that were considered for Daphne though.
- 20:09SPEAKER_01: Jennifer Love Hewitt and Jennifer Aniston.
- 20:12SPEAKER_02: Oh, I was gonna say Jennifer Aniston, but then I didn't.
- 20:16SPEAKER_01: I can see both of those, actually, for Daphne.
- 20:19SPEAKER_02: I can, but Sarah Michelle Geller is the correct choice of the free.
- 20:25SPEAKER_01: Um And she was doing the she was filming this in between filming Buffy.
- 20:29SPEAKER_02: Yes, that's it.
- 20:30SPEAKER_01: Which is just like mad because she had to go to Australia to film this.
- 20:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, oh my goodness.
- 20:35SPEAKER_01: It's just like, imagine how tired you would be.
- 20:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 20:38SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 20:39SPEAKER_02: And she looks great.
- 20:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 20:42SPEAKER_02: Um Fred, on the other hand.
- 20:46SPEAKER_01: Fred does not look good.
- 20:48SPEAKER_02: At the beginning, like the first scene, like the two years before.
- 20:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 20:52SPEAKER_02: Like, he's obviously wearing a very bad wig, and it really makes me that they haven't tried to make it not look like a wig.
- 21:00SPEAKER_01: Are you sure it's a wig?
- 21:01SPEAKER_02: I think it's a wig because his hair is longer than that one, and I know he died.
- 21:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I was gonna say, because you didn't read that other bit of trivia about him having to shave his head afterwards.
- 21:10SPEAKER_02: Oh, he shaved it.
- 21:11SPEAKER_01: It ruined his hair and he had to shave his head.
- 21:13SPEAKER_02: Oh, well.
- 21:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so I reckon after the two years has pa have passed in the film, that's his real hair.
- 21:23SPEAKER_02: That's Freddie Prince's real hair.
- 21:25SPEAKER_02: But before that, definitely a wig.
- 21:30SPEAKER_01: I need to go back and look at it.
- 21:31SPEAKER_02: It was like a banana peel.
- 21:35SPEAKER_01: I need to go back and look.
- 21:38SPEAKER_02: Okay, okay.
- 21:39SPEAKER_01: Um but yeah, they were like basically like at the time, or like a couple of years before this, they were like the biggest people in like teen movies and TV.
- 21:51SPEAKER_01: Especially Sarah Michelle Geller and Jr.
- 21:55SPEAKER_02: Um She's all that.
- 21:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, she's all that, which three of them are in.
- 22:01SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 22:02SPEAKER_02: No wait, hold on.
- 22:03SPEAKER_01: But um Oh no, sorry, Sarah Sarah Michelle Gilles.
- 22:07SPEAKER_01: Sarah Michelle Gill is not in Sheet or Dad, but she's in um she has a cameo in Oh yes uh something else uh something else that they're all in.
- 22:16SPEAKER_01: Basically they were all always in stuff together.
- 22:18SPEAKER_02: Oh that's very cute.
- 22:21SPEAKER_01: Um and then yeah, then they went on to do this, and then kind of I don't know.
- 22:30SPEAKER_01: After this it felt like their careers all kind of just dipped a little bit.
- 22:36SPEAKER_02: I feel well, I don't know, but um yeah, I guess so.
- 22:41SPEAKER_02: I was thinking trying to think, wasn't Linda Cardellini in ER or something?
- 22:46SPEAKER_01: Yes, you're right.
- 22:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 22:48SPEAKER_01: Okay, maybe she did her career didn't dip.
- 22:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 22:51SPEAKER_02: Freddie Pennsylvania and Sarah Michelle Gill, I feel like they went on pause intentionally.
- 22:57SPEAKER_01: I wasn't intentional.
- 22:58SPEAKER_02: I don't I I I feel like that.
- 23:02SPEAKER_02: I don't know if that's true.
- 23:04SPEAKER_02: I'm trying to look it up.
- 23:07SPEAKER_01: Um in 2005 he had a TV show called Freddy that ran for one season.
- 23:14SPEAKER_02: Oh no.
- 23:16SPEAKER_01: Um but Sarah Michelle Gellark I feel like could do anything whenever she wanted to.
- 23:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 23:22SPEAKER_01: She's the only one that kind of she made a choice there.
- 23:26SPEAKER_01: Maybe she did, yeah.
- 23:28SPEAKER_02: Um and then Matthew Lillard.
- 23:32SPEAKER_01: Matthew Lillard's consistently like in stuff, but not really that big.
- 23:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he's in that m show Good Girls Now.
- 23:41SPEAKER_01: Oh, is he?
- 23:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 23:43SPEAKER_02: Which has just been cancelled actually.
- 23:46SPEAKER_02: But he was good in that.
- 23:48SPEAKER_01: Um and he's the only one to continue to play Shaggy.
- 23:52SPEAKER_02: Shaggy.
- 23:53SPEAKER_02: So Oh my gosh, and he's also in He's All That.
- 23:56SPEAKER_02: Have you seen that?
- 23:57SPEAKER_01: No, I forgot he was in that.
- 24:00SPEAKER_01: I refuse to watch it.
- 24:01SPEAKER_01: I'm really hoping nobody ever said.
- 24:03SPEAKER_02: Don't watch it.
- 24:03SPEAKER_02: It's just it's absolutely horrendous.
- 24:05SPEAKER_02: Well no, because it's it's straight to Netflix, so can they pick it?
- 24:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's still a r it's still a movie.
- 24:11SPEAKER_01: It's not a TV movie.
- 24:13SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 24:13SPEAKER_01: Although I guess nothing is anymore.
- 24:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 24:17SPEAKER_02: The Christmas ones are.
- 24:18SPEAKER_01: Um Yeah, those feel like TV movies.
- 24:22SPEAKER_02: But um you haven't watched Scooby-Doo 2 then, have you?
- 24:25SPEAKER_01: No.
- 24:25SPEAKER_02: Oh my goodness.
- 24:26SPEAKER_01: So wait, which one which one is better?
- 24:29SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 24:31SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 24:32SPEAKER_02: Uh the first one.
- 24:35SPEAKER_02: No, I love the second one.
- 24:38SPEAKER_02: The second one is good too.
- 24:39SPEAKER_01: What's the second one about?
- 24:40SPEAKER_02: Oh, the second one is about this oh d I d I can't remember now, but I know that like Velma gets a makeover.
- 24:51SPEAKER_02: For a dude, obviously.
- 24:54SPEAKER_01: Oh, they so they wrote out any kind of like references to her being a lesbian.
- 24:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 25:00SPEAKER_02: I will say, I what re-watching the first Scooby-Zoo movie, I was like, I feel like there's a bit of chemistry between Velma and Fred.
- 25:08SPEAKER_01: I feel like they tried to set that up.
- 25:11SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 25:12SPEAKER_01: I think they tried to.
- 25:13SPEAKER_02: I would rather that they have gone gone down that route.
- 25:16SPEAKER_01: Well, Velma and Fred, really?
- 25:19SPEAKER_02: Just because it's it's just less predictable, isn't it?
- 25:23SPEAKER_01: Is Mary Jane in the next one?
- 25:26SPEAKER_02: No.
- 25:27unknown: Oh.
- 25:27SPEAKER_02: Neither is the guy who wears the lead Zeppelin top.
- 25:30SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, but who doesn't even have a name.
- 25:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 25:35SPEAKER_01: And just punches him to click.
- 25:40SPEAKER_01: He goes to kiss her and she punches him in the chest and blows and walks away.
- 25:46SPEAKER_02: That's the classic Velma.
- 25:49SPEAKER_02: Um Yeah, I go on.
- 25:52SPEAKER_01: Oh no, no.
- 25:54unknown: Oh.
- 25:55SPEAKER_02: I was just gonna say, I like how easily how very destructible Velma is in this film.
- 26:01SPEAKER_02: Like if she loses her glasses, she's completely blind.
- 26:06SPEAKER_01: But that's the show as well.
- 26:07SPEAKER_01: That's exactly my point.
- 26:10SPEAKER_02: It would be so easy to just pick off.
- 26:12SPEAKER_02: So why do they keep piss picking Daphne?
- 26:16SPEAKER_02: Just like knock her glasses off if she can't.
- 26:22SPEAKER_02: They're really they're really.
- 26:23SPEAKER_01: Is that is that the same case with you?
- 26:24SPEAKER_01: If you get if you lose your glasses, you can't see anything.
- 26:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, I can't see a thing.
- 26:29SPEAKER_02: I'm completely blind, it just goes black.
- 26:32SPEAKER_02: I I um I find it really so this has nothing to do with blindness, but like I understand how the whole Clark Kent Superman thing works now.
- 26:44SPEAKER_02: Because I in my old flat, I used to live with my flatmate Stephanie, okay.
- 26:50SPEAKER_02: She is Chinese from Mauritius.
- 26:53SPEAKER_02: We look nothing alike, like we're completely different builds, like she's taller than me, and also Mauritius as well, like yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 27:00SPEAKER_02: And she's like got short hair, really short hair, but we both wear glasses and we live in the same house.
- 27:06SPEAKER_02: And one day our landlord, who has met us many times, comes around to like check the boiler, and it's in the morning, and I cut and I go downstairs and I've just woken up, so I've got my glasses off, and I'm like, Oh hey, I was like, just come in, but just so you know, Stephanie, she's just come back from night shift, so can you just be quiet because she's still asleep?
- 27:23SPEAKER_02: And he was like, Yeah, yeah, no worries.
- 27:25SPEAKER_02: So he goes into the kitchen.
- 27:26SPEAKER_02: I go upstairs, get dressed.
- 27:27SPEAKER_02: No, no, but I don't even get dressed, I'm already dressed.
- 27:30SPEAKER_02: I put my glasses on.
- 27:32SPEAKER_02: I come downstairs and he's like, hey Stephanie, how's night shift?
- 27:39SPEAKER_01: All you do is put a pair of glasses on.
- 27:42SPEAKER_01: You don't even look at it.
- 27:43SPEAKER_01: I'm wearing the same clothes.
- 27:45SPEAKER_01: You don't even look different with them off.
- 27:47SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 27:47SPEAKER_02: It's uh but yeah, I thought that was I was like, now I understand.
- 27:53SPEAKER_01: I don't know, like isn't it?
- 27:56SPEAKER_01: Where am I gone?
- 27:56SPEAKER_01: Where am I gone?
- 27:57SPEAKER_01: I've taken my glasses off, listeners.
- 28:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 28:01SPEAKER_02: So um when when Thelma gets sexy in the second in the second um movie, she wears contact lenses.
- 28:09SPEAKER_01: Well that's a nice way around her losing her glasses all the time as well.
- 28:13SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 28:16SPEAKER_01: Um but yeah, how do you actually have trouble seeing without your glasses, like to the point where you cannot see anything?
- 28:24SPEAKER_02: I have terrible eyesight, like um like plus six.
- 28:30SPEAKER_01: I I'm not sure what it is to say.
- 28:33SPEAKER_02: So I'm long sight it's just very bad.
- 28:34SPEAKER_02: So I'm meant so I'm long sighted, so I'm meant to be able to see far away, but it's just so bad that I can't see anything.
- 28:42SPEAKER_01: I I'm short-sighted, so I can see like very close stuff fine, but I can't read anything far away at all.
- 28:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's um it's really bad.
- 28:51SPEAKER_02: But it will improve apparently over time.
- 28:54SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 28:55SPEAKER_02: Because as you age you get more long-sighted.
- 28:57SPEAKER_02: Do you?
- 28:58SPEAKER_02: So it sort of balances it out until it pushes, yeah.
- 29:01SPEAKER_01: I feel like I've got worse over the years.
- 29:03SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 29:04SPEAKER_02: Maybe you're exception.
- 29:08SPEAKER_01: I'm consid I I'm I've considered getting uh surgery, but Really?
- 29:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't know if I want to.
- 29:16SPEAKER_02: It scares me.
- 29:18SPEAKER_02: I don't think it's that much of a pain to wear glasses.
- 29:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's not that much of a problem.
- 29:23SPEAKER_01: The only problem is with the masks now, it's just my glasses steam up every time.
- 29:26SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, that is a pain.
- 29:29SPEAKER_01: Like I was out earlier and I I walked into a shop and I just couldn't see anything.
- 29:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, winter's on its way as well.
- 29:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that this is when it's gonna be a problem.
- 29:39SPEAKER_01: But the other than that, it's fine.
- 29:41SPEAKER_01: It's not really a problem.
- 29:42SPEAKER_02: Um Yeah, you can wear contacts when you want to.
- 29:45SPEAKER_02: Sorry, go on.
- 29:45SPEAKER_01: I c I don't wear contacts.
- 29:47SPEAKER_02: Oh, do you not?
- 29:48SPEAKER_01: No.
- 29:48SPEAKER_01: I've no I've never been able to like get them in my eyes.
- 29:51SPEAKER_02: Really?
- 29:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 29:52SPEAKER_02: What cause you're scared?
- 29:54SPEAKER_01: No, I've tried.
- 29:55SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 29:57SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 29:57SPEAKER_01: I sat with like I sat at space savers for an hour at once trying to get it done, and she was like, I can't let you leave until you do it.
- 30:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they did that with me as well, but it took a long time.
- 30:06SPEAKER_02: Because my eyes are small.
- 30:10SPEAKER_01: I don't think my eyes are that small.
- 30:12SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 30:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no, I don't think so either.
- 30:15SPEAKER_02: I think I don't know.
- 30:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 30:18SPEAKER_01: But anyway, we we I've taken us on a tangent.
- 30:21SPEAKER_01: Um so again, there's like a lot of references, so there's a lot of references to like the show, essentially.
- 30:30SPEAKER_01: And how how much of a sh a fan of the show were you then?
- 30:34SPEAKER_01: Like you said you watched it as a kid, but like you were scared of it.
- 30:37SPEAKER_02: No, yeah, no, not not fan enough.
- 30:39SPEAKER_02: Like I liked the movie more than the show.
- 30:42SPEAKER_01: So did when you watched after watching the movie the first time, did it make you want to go and watch more of the show?
- 30:47SPEAKER_02: No.
- 30:48SPEAKER_02: I just wanted to watch the second movie.
- 30:50SPEAKER_01: Oh, so the second movie was out by the time you'd seen it.
- 30:53SPEAKER_02: I think it maybe it was out or it was imminently coming out.
- 30:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 30:57SPEAKER_02: But um I did feel very upset.
- 30:59SPEAKER_02: I'm allowed to spoil the movie.
- 31:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 31:02SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay.
- 31:03SPEAKER_01: I mean people are listening to this like spoilers, obviously.
- 31:08SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay.
- 31:09SPEAKER_02: Because like the the first movie, the villain is Scrappy Doo.
- 31:13SPEAKER_02: I think I was heartbroken when they made Scrappy Doo the villain.
- 31:17SPEAKER_01: So was everyone.
- 31:18SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 31:18SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 31:19SPEAKER_01: Everyone hates the fact that Scrappy Doo is the villain.
- 31:22SPEAKER_01: Oh no, I always hated Scrappy Doo.
- 31:24SPEAKER_01: I hated Scrappy Doo as a as as a kid uh on the show.
- 31:28SPEAKER_02: Um, he's so small.
- 31:30SPEAKER_01: He's so annoying.
- 31:31SPEAKER_02: Is he?
- 31:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 31:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he's just really annoying.
- 31:35SPEAKER_01: Uh but that's why he was kind of that's why he was written as the villain in this, is because the writer hated him as well.
- 31:40SPEAKER_01: But then he regretted the decision to make him the villain because everyone said, Oh no, I love Scrappy Doo, why would you make him the villain?
- 31:47SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay.
- 31:48SPEAKER_01: So everyone's on your side.
- 31:50SPEAKER_02: That's good to know.
- 31:52SPEAKER_01: But I'm on the side of the the writer, who is also James Gunn, by the way.
- 31:56SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 31:57SPEAKER_01: Which is why it was weird.
- 31:58SPEAKER_02: That is that is why.
- 32:00SPEAKER_01: Guardians of the galaxy suicide squad creator, director, writer.
- 32:05SPEAKER_02: Very who would have thought?
- 32:07SPEAKER_02: Um yeah, so Scrappy Doo, I was a little bit heartbroken.
- 32:14SPEAKER_02: Also, it didn't make yeah.
- 32:15SPEAKER_02: Uh I don't know how are we gonna discuss the whole plot of the film?
- 32:18SPEAKER_01: I mean we'll discuss it like bits and pieces as we go, but we'll end up I'm not gonna go like run through the whole thing as it is.
- 32:23SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 32:24SPEAKER_01: I've stopped doing that now.
- 32:27SPEAKER_01: Um yeah Yeah, one so one thing about that though, is that it he wasn't supposed to be the villain.
- 32:35SPEAKER_01: Um and if you look at the poster, it's the um It's the Lunar Ghost in the poster.
- 32:43SPEAKER_01: And that's because the lunar ghost was supposed to be the villain.
- 32:46SPEAKER_01: And then they changed it to Scrappy Doo very, very last minute, and it was too last minute to change the poster.
- 32:51SPEAKER_02: It can't have been that last minute.
- 32:53SPEAKER_01: They've got like all what So he was supposed to he was always supposed to be in that scene in the middle.
- 33:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 33:02SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 33:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 33:04SPEAKER_01: And then he's only in one scene at the end.
- 33:07SPEAKER_02: But he like burst out of Rowan Atkinson's chest.
- 33:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but I feel like that was supposed to be the lunar ghost.
- 33:15SPEAKER_02: Really?
- 33:16SPEAKER_02: The janitor was meant to be inside Rowan Atkinson.
- 33:18SPEAKER_01: Oh maybe not, yeah, I don't know.
- 33:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I don't understand that how it was too late to to to change the poster.
- 33:26SPEAKER_01: They said it was too late to change the poster.
- 33:28SPEAKER_01: Which does again it doesn't really make sense thinking about it now.
- 33:33SPEAKER_02: Or was it just meant to be like a red herring thing?
- 33:37SPEAKER_02: Oh, so you think it's the lunar ghost who's the villain.
- 33:41SPEAKER_01: No, but that's what they want you to think from the start, isn't it, anyway?
- 33:45SPEAKER_02: Is it?
- 33:45SPEAKER_01: I think they want you to think it's the lunar ghost.
- 33:48SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 33:49SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 33:50SPEAKER_02: Um that beginning scene when they s solve the lunar ghost one.
- 33:56SPEAKER_02: What what baffles me is why is Pamela Anderson driving the mystery machine?
- 34:02SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, I wrote down Pamela Anderson question mark.
- 34:05SPEAKER_01: Like, why is she in there?
- 34:06SPEAKER_01: What is she doing?
- 34:07SPEAKER_02: She like playing herself through.
- 34:10SPEAKER_02: Like I I kind of fine if she wants to be in the movie for like a cameo, but why is she driving the machine?
- 34:17SPEAKER_02: It doesn't make any sense.
- 34:19SPEAKER_01: It makes no sense.
- 34:21SPEAKER_01: Was she just in Australia and they were like, yeah, come film a scene?
- 34:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so I don't know, maybe they just had to give her a talk to me.
- 34:29SPEAKER_01: Why is her connection to this movie?
- 34:30SPEAKER_01: And what is Sugar Ray doing in this movie as well, with the band Sugar Ray?
- 34:35SPEAKER_02: Oh they're the ones that were singing.
- 34:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 34:37SPEAKER_02: Oh, I liked that scene.
- 34:39SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 34:39SPEAKER_01: I just thought it was like It's so up to time, isn't it?
- 34:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, oh my god, sorry, the hair in the hair in this movie's falling.
- 34:48SPEAKER_01: The guy with the spiked hair.
- 34:50SPEAKER_02: The spiked, yeah, the really gelled up hair.
- 34:52SPEAKER_02: Oh, it's great.
- 34:53SPEAKER_01: Oh, it's awful.
- 34:55SPEAKER_01: And then there's the sugar ray guy's got spiked bleach blonde hair.
- 34:59SPEAKER_02: I've never heard of that band.
- 35:01SPEAKER_02: I thought they were not real.
- 35:02SPEAKER_02: I mean I think that's a good one.
- 35:03SPEAKER_01: Oh no, they're they were a real band of that time, and they were they're a joke now.
- 35:09SPEAKER_02: Oh, because of the movie.
- 35:10SPEAKER_01: No, not because of the movie, because of because of who they are.
- 35:15SPEAKER_02: Um I liked that where his eyes go all green.
- 35:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I did like that shot actually.
- 35:21SPEAKER_01: That was a cool shot.
- 35:22SPEAKER_02: He looked creepy.
- 35:23SPEAKER_02: I felt like he played it creepy quite well.
- 35:25SPEAKER_01: I mean he's got a creepy face.
- 35:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 35:27SPEAKER_01: Sorry to say, but he does.
- 35:30SPEAKER_02: Oh, it's like when um Isla Fisher's character gets hit by that branch.
- 35:35SPEAKER_02: Mm-hmm.
- 35:36SPEAKER_02: And has been stretchy.
- 35:38SPEAKER_02: Uh-huh, that scared me as a kid.
- 35:41SPEAKER_01: I okay, that one I get.
- 35:44SPEAKER_01: That I get scared of someone as a kid.
- 35:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 35:47SPEAKER_01: Because that's demonic.
- 35:50SPEAKER_01: I get I get anything.
- 35:52SPEAKER_01: I get anything with the eyes scaring you, and anything with like Isle of Fisher changing, like that sort of thing.
- 35:59SPEAKER_01: The monsters themselves, I just didn't think it were that scary.
- 36:02SPEAKER_02: No, the monsters are fine.
- 36:04SPEAKER_02: Um The Luna Ghost isn't scary.
- 36:07SPEAKER_02: The Lunagh is fine.
- 36:09SPEAKER_02: Uh what else is there?
- 36:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, there's like that's about it.
- 36:12SPEAKER_01: Scrappy Scrappy is not scary.
- 36:16SPEAKER_01: Um scrappy on Royce.
- 36:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 36:20SPEAKER_01: He's on he's on the uh what do they call it?
- 36:22SPEAKER_01: The plasma.
- 36:24SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 36:24SPEAKER_02: What is it?
- 36:25SPEAKER_02: What protoplasma.
- 36:26SPEAKER_01: Protoplasma.
- 36:27SPEAKER_02: Why do they call it that?
- 36:28SPEAKER_02: Because protoplasma is an actual like scientific term.
- 36:32unknown: Yeah.
- 36:34SPEAKER_02: They're like, they've taken the protoplasma out of my body.
- 36:38SPEAKER_01: And especially you as a scientist, you'd also be like, no, no, no.
- 36:42SPEAKER_02: Well, to be fair, I had to Google it a bit.
- 36:46SPEAKER_01: I was like, this sounds like something I should know, but I think that's the first time anyone's ever like scientifically Googled anything from Scooby-Doo, the movie.
- 36:57SPEAKER_02: Um it doesn't okay, so the another thing is it doesn't quite nothing really makes sense in this movie.
- 37:05SPEAKER_01: No.
- 37:05SPEAKER_01: Um there's no consistency and logic to this movie.
- 37:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 37:09SPEAKER_01: But there was no consist there was not really any logic to this the series either, so I'm kind of okay with that.
- 37:14SPEAKER_02: Well, so Scrappy Doo's motive was he kind of wanted to like rule the world.
- 37:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 37:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 37:20SPEAKER_02: Okay, makes sense.
- 37:21SPEAKER_02: And he needed Scooby-Doo's pure soul to inside the Damon Writer thing to give him all the power.
- 37:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 37:28SPEAKER_02: But why would you invite the whole gang?
- 37:36SPEAKER_02: Doesn't Why when you know they've got a reputation for solving things?
- 37:41SPEAKER_01: Maybe because.
- 37:43SPEAKER_01: Alright, yeah, you're right.
- 37:44SPEAKER_01: You're right, why don't you invite the whole gang?
- 37:47SPEAKER_01: What I can see him in a he needs to invite Shaggy for Scooby to come.
- 37:52SPEAKER_02: That's fine.
- 37:53SPEAKER_01: Just invite those two.
- 37:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and they didn't he didn't invite them under the pretense of them needing to solve anything.
- 38:00SPEAKER_02: They were they were happy to do it for food.
- 38:02SPEAKER_02: Like, yeah, just invite it.
- 38:04SPEAKER_01: Just invite those two.
- 38:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 38:06SPEAKER_01: Distract Shaggy with food and then Scooby's soul.
- 38:11SPEAKER_01: Or whatever it is.
- 38:12SPEAKER_02: Or also, yeah, why did it have to be on Spooky Island?
- 38:16SPEAKER_02: I don't understand Scraffy.
- 38:18SPEAKER_02: He's a bit of a mess.
- 38:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 38:20SPEAKER_01: This is why we don't like Scraffy.
- 38:22SPEAKER_02: Well no, in this movie he's a mess.
- 38:24SPEAKER_02: In the in the mov in the film, in the show, sorry, he's uh he's adorable.
- 38:28SPEAKER_02: He's just punishing things.
- 38:31SPEAKER_01: I just find him really annoying.
- 38:33SPEAKER_01: I should always have.
- 38:35SPEAKER_01: Um it's like when they he's just like that character that they uh add in for no reason uh uh after a few years.
- 38:43SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
- 38:44SPEAKER_02: He yeah, he didn't show up in every single episode, did he?
- 38:47SPEAKER_01: No.
- 38:48SPEAKER_02: No.
- 38:48SPEAKER_02: He was like Scooby-Doo's cousin.
- 38:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 38:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 38:52SPEAKER_01: He was just like when they were starting to like run out of steam and they just threw they just added him in.
- 38:57SPEAKER_01: And they thought he could like re revamp it.
- 39:01SPEAKER_01: Um and it obviously didn't work.
- 39:05SPEAKER_01: It's what they make fun of in um I think it's what they make fun of in the Simpsons with Poochie.
- 39:11SPEAKER_02: Oh really?
- 39:12SPEAKER_01: I think that's what Poochie's supposed to be.
- 39:13SPEAKER_02: Who wait, who's Poochie?
- 39:15SPEAKER_01: It's in that one episode where they write him into um Itchy and Scratchy.
- 39:22SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 39:23SPEAKER_02: I've I don't think I watch enough Simpsons.
- 39:25SPEAKER_01: It's not an old one.
- 39:26SPEAKER_01: It's a really old one.
- 39:27SPEAKER_01: It's one of the classic ones.
- 39:30SPEAKER_01: Um yeah, but they write they they write this like annoying dog character into itchy and scratchy, and then Homer does the voice and everyone hates him.
- 39:40SPEAKER_01: So they end up just like they end up killing him off.
- 39:44SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay, right.
- 39:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so maybe they were they were drawing from Scooby-Doo for that.
- 39:51SPEAKER_02: A bit of a stretch, maybe.
- 39:52SPEAKER_01: No, I think it was supposed to be that.
- 39:54SPEAKER_01: Oh really?
- 39:54SPEAKER_01: I think that's what they were making fun of.
- 39:56SPEAKER_01: Um What?
- 39:57SPEAKER_02: He's not that annoying.
- 40:00SPEAKER_01: When you're a kid he's not, but go and look at him now.
- 40:03SPEAKER_01: I think you'll find him annoying.
- 40:05SPEAKER_02: But what adults are watching Scooby-Doo I mean, maybe actually.
- 40:08SPEAKER_01: Stoners.
- 40:11SPEAKER_01: That's what this show that's what the show is for, is for stoners and kids.
- 40:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah, the movies okay, yeah.
- 40:18SPEAKER_02: The show.
- 40:18unknown: Yeah.
- 40:19SPEAKER_02: But they're still making Scooby-Doo.
- 40:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 40:22unknown: What?
- 40:23SPEAKER_02: How have they not run out of mysteries?
- 40:25SPEAKER_01: It's the same mystery every time.
- 40:27SPEAKER_01: How have you not realised this?
- 40:28SPEAKER_01: It's always old man.
- 40:29SPEAKER_02: It's someone in a mask.
- 40:30SPEAKER_02: It's always always old man smithers.
- 40:36SPEAKER_01: Um It's literally him the whole time.
- 40:40SPEAKER_01: So basically they when they go to the island, Mondavarius is the owner.
- 40:47SPEAKER_01: It's Roan Atkinson.
- 40:49SPEAKER_02: It's Rowan Atkinson.
- 40:51SPEAKER_01: And apparently, I didn't realise this at the time, but only after reading it later on, there are clues to like it being scrappy inside him um throughout the movie.
- 41:02SPEAKER_01: Like he scratches behind his ears and stuff.
- 41:05SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 41:07SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 41:08SPEAKER_02: Did you did you think it was Scrappy when you watched it?
- 41:11SPEAKER_01: I knew it was Scrappy already, that's the problem.
- 41:13SPEAKER_02: What? 'Cause you watched you read on Wikipedia.
- 41:16SPEAKER_01: I think I just heard about it years ago.
- 41:18SPEAKER_01: I hadn't really.
- 41:19SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay, alright.
- 41:20SPEAKER_01: I just I think I just heard about how people were annoyed that it was Scrappy.
- 41:24SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 41:25SPEAKER_02: So you got ruined for it.
- 41:27SPEAKER_01: But I didn't know it was Scrappy inside his character.
- 41:31SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay, you thought Scrappy was some other.
- 41:34SPEAKER_02: I thought he was just like taking over, yeah.
- 41:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 41:38SPEAKER_02: Um.
- 41:39SPEAKER_01: Did you guess it was Scrappy when you first watched it?
- 41:42SPEAKER_02: I can't remember now.
- 41:43SPEAKER_02: I don't think I did.
- 41:45SPEAKER_02: Because that was nowadays I've Wikipedia every single film that I watched before I watch it.
- 41:50SPEAKER_02: Really?
- 41:50SPEAKER_02: But yeah.
- 41:51SPEAKER_03: Why?
- 41:52SPEAKER_02: Because Because I'm that's how I'm a freaking control freak.
- 41:58SPEAKER_02: I need to know exactly who's gonna die.
- 42:01SPEAKER_02: What?
- 42:01SPEAKER_02: So I don't get too attached.
- 42:03SPEAKER_01: Doesn't that take it take your enjoyment out of it?
- 42:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so I have so I Wikipedia everything.
- 42:12SPEAKER_02: But back then I couldn't as a kid, so I guess I didn't know it was scrappy.
- 42:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 42:16SPEAKER_01: Why do you I can't believe you want to spoil everything for yourself?
- 42:19SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 42:19SPEAKER_02: I don't it's yeah, I I think there are some films that I um have not Wikipedia and I've actually really enjoyed them, but I just can't help myself.
- 42:28SPEAKER_01: I don't think I can go see a movie with you.
- 42:30SPEAKER_01: Unless you don't spoil it for everyone else.
- 42:32SPEAKER_01: As long as you don't spoil it.
- 42:36SPEAKER_02: I would dream of it.
- 42:38SPEAKER_02: I'll be like, oh look away.
- 42:42SPEAKER_01: You don't want to listen out for this bit.
- 42:47SPEAKER_02: Especially if I'm like watching like a series where you where it's possible to get quite emotionally invested in a character.
- 42:56SPEAKER_02: Like for instance, I've never watched Game of Thrones, but I have Wikipedia every single episode.
- 43:01SPEAKER_01: You know there's the books you just read.
- 43:03SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, I do that.
- 43:05SPEAKER_02: But they're too they're too violent as well.
- 43:08SPEAKER_02: I'd rather like be a bit detached from it.
- 43:10SPEAKER_02: I've like had full-on discussions with my when I was at uni with my f housemate.
- 43:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 43:15SPEAKER_02: And he didn't realise that I didn't watch it, and we would have like hour-long discussions about games going and then he and then he mentioned a character and I was like, I can't remember who that is, and he was like, What do you mean?
- 43:23SPEAKER_02: How can you not know who that character is?
- 43:25SPEAKER_02: I can't remember.
- 43:25SPEAKER_02: And he's like, he's wearing the something something, and I was like, I don't know, I just Wikipedia.
- 43:29SPEAKER_02: And she he was like, What?
- 43:31SPEAKER_02: Like you've been wasting my time like for the past year talking to Game of Thrones, you don't even watch it.
- 43:37SPEAKER_01: A year talking about it.
- 43:41SPEAKER_02: Um Yeah.
- 43:43SPEAKER_01: Wait, so what is your What is your feeling on Game of Thrones having just only Wikipedia in it?
- 43:49SPEAKER_02: I can't remember it now.
- 43:50SPEAKER_02: It was so well I so I st I stopped I stopped Wikipedia after uni.
- 43:54SPEAKER_02: Um but yeah, it was alright, I guess.
- 43:58SPEAKER_02: If there was like a key.
- 44:00SPEAKER_02: Scene I used to like YouTube it and watch that scene.
- 44:03SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 44:04SPEAKER_02: Like the red wedding scene.
- 44:07SPEAKER_02: Didn't like that.
- 44:08SPEAKER_01: Well obviously that's the most violent scene in the whole of the show.
- 44:12SPEAKER_02: But um yeah, I mean it was fine, it was alright.
- 44:15SPEAKER_02: Couldn't quite keep up with the characters because I didn't because um yeah, I wasn't looking at the faces.
- 44:23SPEAKER_01: Um or the actual show.
- 44:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but my dad like my dad used to read the books.
- 44:29SPEAKER_02: My d okay, m at Strange Time of Events, my dad is now really into the Twilight series.
- 44:35SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 44:36SPEAKER_02: He like messaged me the other day and he was like, Have you got the Twilight books?
- 44:41SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, Yeah.
- 44:44SPEAKER_02: But don't read them.
- 44:46SPEAKER_01: Why do you have them then?
- 44:48SPEAKER_02: Because I was a 14-year-old child.
- 44:50SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay, fair.
- 44:51SPEAKER_02: I read them, yeah.
- 44:53SPEAKER_02: And now you like you watched now now I'm now I've come to my senses.
- 44:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 44:58SPEAKER_02: They were toxic.
- 45:00SPEAKER_02: But um my dad watched all the films and he was like, I really like this, I'm gonna read the books first.
- 45:09SPEAKER_02: So um, yeah, so my dad is I think on the third book or the fourth book.
- 45:14SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 45:15SPEAKER_01: That is so unexpected.
- 45:17SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 45:18SPEAKER_02: I was like, are you Team Jacob or Team Edward?
- 45:21SPEAKER_02: He's like, neither.
- 45:26SPEAKER_01: So he's got no he's got no stakes in it, he just he just likes watching them.
- 45:30SPEAKER_02: I don't know what the floor about it.
- 45:34SPEAKER_02: It's so bad.
- 45:35SPEAKER_02: I watched this first movie for the first time, like I think last year, and I I watched it with my sister, and it was just so awful, like I can't stop cringing.
- 45:47SPEAKER_01: I've only ever seen clips of them, and it it's awful, everything I've seen.
- 45:52SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I cannot bring myself to watch this or read it.
- 45:55SPEAKER_01: And I saw a scene where where Michael Sheen was uh like he chopped someone's head off and then and then it turns out that it was all like a dream.
- 46:08SPEAKER_02: It was like a dream, yeah.
- 46:10SPEAKER_02: I think I've seen that scene as well on YouTube.
- 46:13SPEAKER_01: I'm like, are you really putting in it was all a dream into something?
- 46:18SPEAKER_02: Well, yeah, they had to do that because I think at the end, at the like the in the last book, like nothing happened.
- 46:25SPEAKER_02: So they were like, well, we've stretched us out for two movies, we've gotta stick something in.
- 46:31SPEAKER_02: Some head chopping.
- 46:32SPEAKER_01: So they added a whole movie where it's all a dream.
- 46:37SPEAKER_02: Um I guess the most impressive thing about the Twilight series was that Robert Patterson managed to make a career after that.
- 46:43SPEAKER_01: Oh, both both of them managed to get away from it.
- 46:45SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, that's true.
- 46:46SPEAKER_02: Although she's a few years.
- 46:48SPEAKER_01: She'll probably win an Oscar this year, do you know?
- 46:50SPEAKER_02: For the Princess Diana maybe.
- 46:53SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 46:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean, yeah, she still is like really teased for Twilight though.
- 47:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, more so than him, like he's at he's at least expressed how much he hates it.
- 47:06SPEAKER_02: Oh my god, he can't hide it.
- 47:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, whereas she kind of like doesn't really say anything about it, so I think that's why.
- 47:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 47:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 47:15SPEAKER_01: Um yeah, he seemed I don't know.
- 47:19SPEAKER_01: Neither of them seemed great in it.
- 47:21SPEAKER_02: No.
- 47:22SPEAKER_01: And the CGI like Scooby-Doo had better CGI than Oh, okay, so but yeah, let's see, let's talk about that CGI and Scooby-Doo, because I thought it was atrocious.
- 47:30SPEAKER_02: What?
- 47:31SPEAKER_02: What was wrong with it?
- 47:32SPEAKER_01: Sco okay, Scooby is fine.
- 47:35SPEAKER_02: Scooby is great.
- 47:36SPEAKER_01: Scooby's fine.
- 47:37SPEAKER_01: The CGI is okay, I I can deal with that.
- 47:39SPEAKER_01: Any other CGI in this movie looks terrible.
- 47:44SPEAKER_01: I mean it's like two di it's flat.
- 47:46SPEAKER_01: It's not even like 3D characters.
- 47:49SPEAKER_01: The monsters are flat.
- 47:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I guess that's what makes them not as scary.
- 47:54SPEAKER_02: Because they just really don't look real.
- 47:56SPEAKER_01: No.
- 47:58SPEAKER_01: There's a point where um Daphne is it Daphne or Velma?
- 48:02SPEAKER_01: I can't remember which one of them, but they try and pick up the monster's head to like pull it off because she thinks it's a mask, and it looks so bad.
- 48:10SPEAKER_01: It just looks terrible.
- 48:12SPEAKER_02: That's when she's got her glasses off, isn't it?
- 48:14SPEAKER_01: Oh, it could be, yeah.
- 48:15SPEAKER_01: I think So it must be Vel it must be Velma that does it, yeah.
- 48:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and she like had a sip of alcohol.
- 48:21SPEAKER_02: And she's like, whoa!
- 48:26SPEAKER_01: Oh, what a weird movie this is.
- 48:30SPEAKER_02: Um also like doesn't make sense, like she that that um relic that they find, the daemon Damon Writers?
- 48:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah, why is she like disassembling it like in the middle of a bar in front of all the people that they've just said they suspect?
- 48:52SPEAKER_01: Because they're all as smart as they as smart as they are, they're all idiots as well.
- 48:57SPEAKER_01: They all have no common sense.
- 49:00SPEAKER_02: Um yeah.
- 49:02SPEAKER_02: I don't know what happened why why did they put it in there?
- 49:04SPEAKER_02: Is it just because they wanted her to have a drink of alcohol as well?
- 49:07SPEAKER_01: I think so.
- 49:09SPEAKER_01: Um like where else is she gonna go?
- 49:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 49:16SPEAKER_01: They don't even stay anywhere, do they?
- 49:17SPEAKER_01: They just like literally like Oh yeah, they don't.
- 49:21SPEAKER_01: Is this all in one day?
- 49:23SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, I think it might be because I think so, because like they wa wait, they they sleep on the beach one one night.
- 49:30SPEAKER_01: I don't remember.
- 49:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 49:32SPEAKER_02: It's when um Yeah, they sleep on the beach and then and then they wake up and everything's like normal.
- 49:38SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, and then the band sings to Daphne.
- 49:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's when uh two of them have gone missing though.
- 49:44SPEAKER_01: That's when Velma and and Fred have gone missing.
- 49:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and their sense of urgency is quite low.
- 49:53SPEAKER_01: This is so shit.
- 49:54SPEAKER_02: They can obviously still sleep.
- 49:58SPEAKER_01: Um I can't believe yeah.
- 50:02SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 50:02SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry, I'm just I just noticed the IMDB rating for both of them.
- 50:06SPEAKER_01: And this is a 5.2 out of ten, and the second one's a five point one out of ten.
- 50:10SPEAKER_02: Oh, so they lost a point one somewhere.
- 50:14SPEAKER_02: Maybe because Isle of Fisher wasn't in it.
- 50:18SPEAKER_01: Was Isle official just too big after this?
- 50:21SPEAKER_02: I don't know, but she I I guess it just wasn't integral to the plot at all.
- 50:28SPEAKER_01: So there's no like love interest for Shaggy in the second one.
- 50:32SPEAKER_02: No.
- 50:33SPEAKER_02: But there is for Velma.
- 50:34SPEAKER_01: Just for Velma?
- 50:35SPEAKER_02: His name is Patrick, yeah.
- 50:37SPEAKER_01: Patrick.
- 50:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 50:38SPEAKER_01: Who plays him?
- 50:40SPEAKER_02: Um, um what's his name?
- 50:42SPEAKER_01: I'm looking it up.
- 50:43SPEAKER_02: That actually Seth Green! Seth yeah, Seth Green, that's it.
- 50:46SPEAKER_01: Not sure about that.
- 50:48SPEAKER_02: Hmm.
- 50:51SPEAKER_01: Um and Elisa Silverstone's in it as well.
- 50:57SPEAKER_02: Is she?
- 51:00SPEAKER_01: That's what it says.
- 51:01SPEAKER_01: I don't know who she plays.
- 51:04SPEAKER_02: She is, yes, she's a reporter.
- 51:06SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 51:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 51:09SPEAKER_02: Oh my gosh, the second film is actually so good.
- 51:12SPEAKER_02: It's a theory.
- 51:14SPEAKER_02: I it wasn't on your list.
- 51:18SPEAKER_02: Um the second film but you watch that, you're in for a real treat.
- 51:23SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 51:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah, don't Wikipedia it.
- 51:25SPEAKER_01: No, I'm just trying to look up what the second one is actually rated.
- 51:28SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 51:29SPEAKER_01: Um.
- 51:30SPEAKER_01: Monsters Unleashed.
- 51:33SPEAKER_02: I hope that's a good one.
- 51:35SPEAKER_01: What do you reckon?
- 51:36SPEAKER_02: On Rotten Tomatoes.
- 51:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 51:39SPEAKER_02: The first one is 39%, right?
- 51:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 51:41SPEAKER_02: No, it's 30.
- 51:42SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 51:42SPEAKER_02: 30.
- 51:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 51:43SPEAKER_02: Second one, they're they're they're obviously a load of dickheads on rotten tomatoes, so maybe like 23.
- 51:50SPEAKER_01: You are so close, it's 22.
- 51:53SPEAKER_02: Ah.
- 51:54SPEAKER_02: Arseholes.
- 51:56SPEAKER_01: But the audience score, 40%.
- 51:59SPEAKER_01: It's higher.
- 52:00SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 52:00SPEAKER_02: It went up.
- 52:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it went up 1%.
- 52:04SPEAKER_02: It is really good.
- 52:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah, this you should watch it.
- 52:07SPEAKER_02: Um made a lot of money.
- 52:09SPEAKER_01: It made 84 million.
- 52:11SPEAKER_02: Well, that's a th okay, this is the thing.
- 52:13SPEAKER_02: I was reading like the first film made like over 120 million, right?
- 52:18SPEAKER_01: Um, 153.
- 52:23SPEAKER_02: 153 million?
- 52:24SPEAKER_02: And how come there was no one?
- 52:26SPEAKER_02: Just in the US.
- 52:26SPEAKER_01: Just in the US.
- 52:27SPEAKER_02: That it's mad.
- 52:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 52:29SPEAKER_02: And they didn't do a third film.
- 52:31SPEAKER_02: They had plans for a third film.
- 52:33SPEAKER_02: And they we had plans for a third one.
- 52:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 52:38SPEAKER_01: So what happened?
- 52:39SPEAKER_01: They just like it just fizzled out.
- 52:40SPEAKER_02: Well, because the idiots on rotten tomatoes.
- 52:45SPEAKER_02: Rotten tomato or tomatoes.
- 52:48SPEAKER_01: Tomatoes.
- 52:49SPEAKER_02: Tomatoes.
- 52:51SPEAKER_02: Um I hope that your listeners are listening to this podcast on speed times one point two.
- 52:58SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 53:00SPEAKER_02: Because we're talking slowly.
- 53:04SPEAKER_01: Are we?
- 53:06SPEAKER_02: I listen to every single podcast at speed one point two.
- 53:10SPEAKER_01: I didn't even know you could do one point two.
- 53:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, one point two.
- 53:13SPEAKER_02: YouTube videos one point five.
- 53:15SPEAKER_01: So is it because I know you listen to this from some t time to time.
- 53:18SPEAKER_01: Is it weird hit when you whenever you hear my voice again then?
- 53:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 53:23SPEAKER_01: Wait, what do you wait for?
- 53:24SPEAKER_01: Do you get thrown off hearing my Yeah, do you get thrown off hearing my real voice again?
- 53:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm like, huh?
- 53:32SPEAKER_01: Oh also to clarify for listeners, Lisa and I are on a uh an improv team together.
- 53:37SPEAKER_01: So I feel like we should have stated that from I should have stated that from the beginning.
- 53:43SPEAKER_01: We're both Asians.
- 53:43SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna say we're all Asian.
- 53:46SPEAKER_01: We're all Asian technically.
- 53:48SPEAKER_02: We're both Asian.
- 53:50SPEAKER_02: Um yeah, I've listened to a few of your I've listened to a few.
- 53:54SPEAKER_02: I l I listen to everything anything slightly educational, I have to increase the speed.
- 53:59SPEAKER_02: Because it's too small.
- 54:00SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, I get that.
- 54:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 54:02SPEAKER_01: I have a thing on videos.
- 54:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 54:04SPEAKER_01: I have a thing on mine where you can turn it um it reduces the pauses on um on the podcast, so it just it just removes the gaps.
- 54:13SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, listeners your listeners definitely need to do this.
- 54:18SPEAKER_02: Unless you're gonna edit all the pauses out.
- 54:20SPEAKER_01: Well, I mean I do.
- 54:21SPEAKER_02: There's a lot of me going, um, yeah.
- 54:25SPEAKER_01: If there's a big gap of like none of none of us saying anything, then I then I'm gonna edit it out.
- 54:31SPEAKER_02: That's good, good, good, good.
- 54:34SPEAKER_01: Um Do we have anything else to talk about with Scooby-Doo though?
- 54:37SPEAKER_01: Because I feel like we kind of covered it.
- 54:39SPEAKER_01: Okay, yeah.
- 54:40SPEAKER_01: Sorry.
- 54:40SPEAKER_01: So you want to talk about Scooby-Doo.
- 54:43SPEAKER_02: There's lots of I like how there's lots of bursting through glass in this movie.
- 54:50SPEAKER_02: Um I feel like they had like a very high sugar glass budget.
- 54:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, there's one scene where they punch through loads of glass.
- 54:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 54:57SPEAKER_01: And I remember thinking that's a spectacular lock.
- 54:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 55:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 55:00SPEAKER_02: Um and then in the in the castle something and they burst through the window.
- 55:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 55:05SPEAKER_01: There's a lot of good set pieces in this movie.
- 55:07SPEAKER_01: And I enjoyed this I like I I like the fact that they had they built the sets for it as well, as opposed to it just being like a lot of CGI sets and and it looking for the sake, which is what they would do nowadays.
- 55:20SPEAKER_01: They just they use the CGI budget on those monsters only.
- 55:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, we know you're not a fan of the monsters.
- 55:30SPEAKER_02: Um what was the other thing I was gonna say?
- 55:34SPEAKER_02: Uh what I do with the glass.
- 55:37SPEAKER_02: No, can't remember.
- 55:39SPEAKER_02: Cut that out.
- 55:42SPEAKER_02: Um, and Shaggy is a vegetarian in this movie, isn't he?
- 55:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, apparently because the voice the guy that voiced Shaggy originally was a vegetarian, so they made him that in the show.
- 55:53SPEAKER_01: Or something.
- 55:54SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay.
- 55:55SPEAKER_01: Which I didn't r I don't remember him being a vegetarian in the show, but um yeah, he he insisted that uh Shaggy would be a vegetarian in this.
- 56:06SPEAKER_02: That's fair, yeah, because he eats like an aubergine burger.
- 56:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah, which I thought was very strange.
- 56:12SPEAKER_02: And then I looked it up.
- 56:16SPEAKER_01: It is very odd to hear like an aubergine burger, because it's like I've never heard that in my life.
- 56:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no, it's not real, is it?
- 56:24SPEAKER_01: I don't think I need to be able to do it.
- 56:25SPEAKER_01: It's just a piece of aubergine.
- 56:26SPEAKER_01: A piece of aubergine in a burger but with like chocolate sauce on it as well.
- 56:32SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, they like that kind of shit.
- 56:34SPEAKER_01: Because they're stoners.
- 56:35SPEAKER_01: Um Allegedly.
- 56:38SPEAKER_02: Allegedly.
- 56:41SPEAKER_01: I like the um one thing I will say, I like the music in this movie.
- 56:46SPEAKER_02: Oh my gosh, you're gonna love the music in the second movie.
- 56:48SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 56:49SPEAKER_02: They've got big brothers do you have big brothers?
- 56:51SPEAKER_01: Big brothers, yeah.
- 56:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 56:53SPEAKER_02: Although with a lot of um like I don't know, they've got really bad rep haven't they?
- 56:59SPEAKER_02: Because some of their band members do some really bad things.
- 57:01SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 57:02SPEAKER_01: I forgot about that.
- 57:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah, which kind of ruins it.
- 57:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 57:05SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 57:06SPEAKER_02: But um yeah.
- 57:07SPEAKER_02: You're gonna love the movie.
- 57:10SPEAKER_02: They even they even like did a like a music video.
- 57:13SPEAKER_01: Did they?
- 57:13SPEAKER_02: With Yeah, like for Scooby-Doo.
- 57:16SPEAKER_02: I used to love them.
- 57:17SPEAKER_01: So this one has um where is it?
- 57:21SPEAKER_01: What are their names?
- 57:24SPEAKER_01: Uh just All-Stars.
- 57:26SPEAKER_01: Who were another Mesa.
- 57:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 57:28SPEAKER_01: They have that one song.
- 57:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they were only around for like eight months.
- 57:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I I googled it after seeing that name.
- 57:36SPEAKER_01: I was like, I know that name.
- 57:37SPEAKER_01: I looked them up, and they were around for one year.
- 57:40SPEAKER_02: Oh really?
- 57:41SPEAKER_02: That's so sad.
- 57:42SPEAKER_02: Did they have a TV show?
- 57:44SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 57:45SPEAKER_02: I've I've I've probably watched that.
- 57:48SPEAKER_01: Did you watch all those back in those days, then all those all those like S Club 7.
- 57:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, oh I loved those S Club VI shows.
- 57:55SPEAKER_01: The two that they had, um Miami 7 and LA 7.
- 57:59SPEAKER_02: They were so good.
- 58:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 58:02SPEAKER_02: I used to love I loved S Club 7.
- 58:04SPEAKER_01: That was our version of like uh who was it that had the monkeys had one back in the day, didn't they?
- 58:10SPEAKER_01: That was like they've in the 60s, yeah.
- 58:14SPEAKER_02: Didn't know that.
- 58:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think that's where it kind of started off, that trend.
- 58:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 58:19SPEAKER_02: I missed those.
- 58:20SPEAKER_02: But if they do them nowadays, I would I mean Who would it be though?
- 58:24SPEAKER_02: I would hate it.
- 58:25SPEAKER_02: Like little mix.
- 58:29SPEAKER_01: No.
- 58:30SPEAKER_02: But they would never do that because they're too big.
- 58:32SPEAKER_01: That's what I mean.
- 58:33SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 58:34SPEAKER_01: It would have to be someone smaller than that.
- 58:36SPEAKER_02: Like when the Saturdays were around, the Saturdays.
- 58:38SPEAKER_01: Saturdays would have been perfect for that.
- 58:41SPEAKER_02: Well w well, actually two of them were an S Club Junior S Club Juniors slash F Club 8.
- 58:46SPEAKER_02: Oh my I I would have killed someone if I could have been an S Club Junior when I was a kid.
- 58:52SPEAKER_01: Did you ever go see them?
- 58:53SPEAKER_02: I used to No, I never did, but I had their C D and I was and I used to like like sob over the fact that I was too young to audition at the time.
- 59:07SPEAKER_02: I would have been on this.
- 59:08SPEAKER_01: I was the perfect age.
- 59:10SPEAKER_02: Um I was their age.
- 59:12SPEAKER_02: Did you audition for?
- 59:13SPEAKER_02: No, of course I didn't audition for being in S Club 8.
- 59:16SPEAKER_02: Why?
- 59:18SPEAKER_02: Your life would be so much better now.
- 59:20SPEAKER_01: Single dance.
- 59:22SPEAKER_02: Neither can they!
- 59:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's true.
- 59:25SPEAKER_01: Um, my favourite my favourite thing about S Club Jr.
- 59:32SPEAKER_01: is that one kid who later on in life there was the rumour that he was chipmunk and it wasn't him.
- 59:39SPEAKER_01: It's just like he used to get so angry about it.
- 59:44SPEAKER_01: He's like, that's not me, I wasn't in S Chipmunk, you know.
- 59:46SPEAKER_01: He's like, I'm not in S Cup 8!
- 59:52SPEAKER_02: That was great.
- 59:53SPEAKER_02: I didn't know that.
- 59:56SPEAKER_01: Um But what else I was gonna say?
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, so they have what else do they have in this music the music here?
- 1:00:03SPEAKER_01: They have the Beach Boys, they have Shaggy, they have Buster Rhymes, they have Outcast.
- 1:00:10SPEAKER_02: It's just like I don't remember these showing up in the movie.
- 1:00:13SPEAKER_01: Oh they don't show up in the movie, they're just there's just the music's in it.
- 1:00:16SPEAKER_02: Oh, oh okay.
- 1:00:17SPEAKER_02: No, no, no, that's what I meant.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_02: Sorry, I meant I don't remember the music showing up in the movie.
- 1:00:21SPEAKER_01: I remember the outcast one really clearly.
- 1:00:23SPEAKER_02: Because I was like Where's Outcast song?
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_01: It's a song called Land of a Million Drums.
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_01: Um which I'm imagining was probably written for the movie.
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_01: Uh but yeah, this this movie has a lot of good music.
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_01: So you said the second one has even better music.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_02: Well, it has Big Brothers.
- 1:00:49SPEAKER_02: I don't know if that's better.
- 1:00:51SPEAKER_02: I can't remember what else they have in there.
- 1:00:53SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, for any any any listeners who weren't around in the UK, you're not gonna be aware who Big Brothers brothers are.
- 1:00:59SPEAKER_01: They were like a a pop rap group in the early 2000s.
- 1:01:05SPEAKER_01: And they had What was that?
- 1:01:09SPEAKER_02: Uh I think there were like six of them, weren't they?
- 1:01:11SPEAKER_01: Oh, you just put your hands up.
- 1:01:13SPEAKER_01: I was like, why are you putting your hands up trying?
- 1:01:18SPEAKER_02: There were six.
- 1:01:19SPEAKER_02: Three girls, three guys.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_01: I don't remember any of them, to be honest.
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_02: Oh I rem Dion.
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_02: I just remember yeah, I loved them.
- 1:01:28SPEAKER_02: I think I had like a you know when Woolworth used to like sell the singles?
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:01:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I I think I've got a few of those.
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_01: I f I can vaguely remember like one song.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_02: Um Yeah.
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_01: It's like I can't remember the lyrics, it's just like playing in my head though.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_02: Is it the one where because I had a music video where they were basically like um in ac acting out friends?
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_02: Might be like acting out friends.
- 1:01:57SPEAKER_02: It might be like that, but they did like a yeah, it was really good.
- 1:02:02SPEAKER_01: So you were the you were the target audience for Big Brothers then.
- 1:02:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I guess so.
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_02: I was the only listener.
- 1:02:10SPEAKER_01: They were pretty like they did alright.
- 1:02:13SPEAKER_02: Well, I mean they were in the Scooby-Doo 2 movie, so yeah.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_01: Well so were All Stars and they had one year career.
- 1:02:20SPEAKER_02: I wonder why they put All-Stars in today.
- 1:02:22SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 1:02:23SPEAKER_01: It's very brief as well, it's like twenty seconds if that.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_02: But I remember it, like Yeah.
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_02: It's like yeah, they're like sneaking out of the castle or something.
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_01: I forgot All-Stars big song was The Land of Mate Believe.
- 1:02:39SPEAKER_02: I don't remember that song.
- 1:02:42SPEAKER_01: Go and listen to it after this, it's so bad.
- 1:02:45SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna I'm going to, and I'm gonna listen to S-Club 8.
- 1:02:48SPEAKER_02: Because I love S Club 8.
- 1:02:51SPEAKER_01: My sisters, I remember they they got to see like if it it was like the final tour of S Club 7 with S Club Juniors as their like backup as their like uh openers.
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_01: And I don't know if it was either like the f the last day or like the last few days that they got to see that they went to.
- 1:03:11SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_01: And they were like really young.
- 1:03:15SPEAKER_01: Because they're younger than you, so like your sisters?
- 1:03:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_02: I can't imagine that they were any good.
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_01: I will um tell you an S Club 7 story off air.
- 1:03:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:03:34SPEAKER_02: Okay, please do.
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm not gonna get in troubles by saying it on this.
- 1:03:41SPEAKER_02: What?
- 1:03:41SPEAKER_02: Don't S Club 7 listen to your podcast?
- 1:03:44SPEAKER_02: No, but oh no, and I've said some really mean things about S Club 8.
- 1:03:49SPEAKER_02: They're really good now.
- 1:03:55SPEAKER_01: All stars might.
- 1:03:56SPEAKER_02: I don't know that.
- 1:03:59SPEAKER_01: Big brothers.
- 1:04:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:04:03SPEAKER_01: Um okay, I I don't know how much else we can talk about with Scrooby Doo, unless you have anything you can talk about.
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_01: There's a lot of I mean it ends with like we find out it's Scrappy Doo as the villain, he's inside Rowan Atkinson as a ro Rowan Atkinson turned out to be a robot.
- 1:04:19SPEAKER_01: Um, and the real the real one is like hidden in the in a basement, I guess.
- 1:04:23SPEAKER_01: Something like that.
- 1:04:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:04:25SPEAKER_02: I don't get how Scrappy Doo made that.
- 1:04:29SPEAKER_01: No.
- 1:04:29SPEAKER_01: It's not entirely clear.
- 1:04:31SPEAKER_01: Nothing is entirely clear.
- 1:04:32SPEAKER_01: Um But he absorbs the energy of Scooby, becomes what is it you called him, uh a a roid in Scrappy.
- 1:04:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Scrappy on Royd.
- 1:04:43SPEAKER_01: Scrappy on Royds.
- 1:04:45SPEAKER_02: Uh But he wait, he doesn't absorb Scooby, he absorbs everyone else.
- 1:04:49SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, he only needs Scooby to go.
- 1:04:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:04:51SPEAKER_01: The only one he needs is Scooby.
- 1:04:53SPEAKER_01: Um but then all the souls get released and everything goes back to normal.
- 1:04:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:04:57SPEAKER_01: And Fred and Daphne kiss, which I don't think should have happened.
- 1:05:00SPEAKER_02: No, it just didn't feel like it was there.
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it felt really.
- 1:05:08SPEAKER_01: But it doesn't feel like there's any connection between them for leading up to that in the movie.
- 1:05:13SPEAKER_01: There's no like romantic connection there.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_01: So it just felt really strange.
- 1:05:18SPEAKER_01: Um it's also the only kiss in the movie of any of them.
- 1:05:22SPEAKER_02: Well, apparently they they had Linda Cardellini kiss someone, but then they cut it.
- 1:05:27SPEAKER_01: They had her kiss Daphne.
- 1:05:29SPEAKER_02: They had her kiss Daphne! Oh, and they cut it as well.
- 1:05:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:05:36SPEAKER_01: Um that would have made it a PG 13.
- 1:05:39SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, of course.
- 1:05:41SPEAKER_01: Um And apparently there's an R rated version as well.
- 1:05:45SPEAKER_02: Which is there actually I thought it was like like the script was R rated originally.
- 1:05:52SPEAKER_01: Maybe the script's the R rated version.
- 1:05:54SPEAKER_02: It's like do I want to see them?
- 1:05:56SPEAKER_01: Did you ever see the movie Holes?
- 1:05:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:05:59SPEAKER_01: So you know there's like a very adult version of that.
- 1:06:02SPEAKER_02: What?
- 1:06:03SPEAKER_02: No.
- 1:06:03SPEAKER_01: Not the not the m the movie itself didn't get made as that, but the sc there's an R-rated script version, which is really dark apparently.
- 1:06:11SPEAKER_02: Wait, they're like kids' book.
- 1:06:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:06:14SPEAKER_01: There's a very, very dark version of it.
- 1:06:18SPEAKER_01: And I really want to find it.
- 1:06:23SPEAKER_02: I wanna find it too.
- 1:06:24SPEAKER_02: Well, hold on, but all the cars were kids.
- 1:06:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but it's just like they didn't actually make it.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_01: They did it was just written before it was written.
- 1:06:33SPEAKER_01: And then they said no this is too dark so he he rewrote it and made a kids a kids friendly version.
- 1:06:39SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah well it is kind of a dark show a dark a dark book.
- 1:06:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:06:44SPEAKER_02: For a kid's book yeah.
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_01: It's dark yeah I could see how it would have I but I think it'll be really good as that version.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_02: Even though I like you should rewrite it and reshoot it.
- 1:06:57SPEAKER_02: Shia L are both back in studio.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_01: Not Shylaw we don't want him No yeah you don't want him.
- 1:07:07SPEAKER_01: But yeah okay so let's yeah basically they they get they free everything everything goes back to normal and then Velma gets to like give the speech to the reporters which is what she wants because Fred's been taking the credit for everything even though it's Velma that does ever all the work.
- 1:07:24SPEAKER_01: And then Shaggy and Scooby are after the credits they get their all you can eat meal and they eat those like spicy peppers.
- 1:07:32SPEAKER_02: Oh yes yeah and that's how it ends that's the that's it that's the end that's literally the end it ends with them eating spicy peppers um I thought Scooby snacks might be more of a might might make more of an appearance in the movie.
- 1:07:50SPEAKER_02: I know that it's twice isn't it and then Daphne gives Scooby one and that is enough I'm like you're an adult you've been living alone for two years you can get your own Scooby snacks you can't you don't have to like do this terrifying thing for one vegetarian Scooby snack but I mean very food motivated so I mean I also like Vilma saying let's get drinky with it don't remember that that's awful it's so awful that is terrible um I I uh admire Linda Carnellini a lot yeah I do really like her so do I I think personally because she's in the Avengers movies kind of kind of yeah she's wasted oh she's absolutely wasted in the she was also in Greenbook and completely wasted in that as well.
- 1:08:51SPEAKER_02: Oh I don't I haven't watched it.
- 1:08:53SPEAKER_02: Oh it's awful yeah anyway sorry is that all the that we have to discuss about Scooby Doo?
- 1:09:00SPEAKER_02: Uh unless you have anything to discuss that you wanted to I don't think so other than I would um I would die for this movie I would die for the th the the third movie but not before it's released but you would still read about it before it was released I might not actually oh this is the one time you wouldn't spoil it this is the one yeah yeah what I think I didn't spoil I didn't spoil Parasite for myself.
- 1:09:32SPEAKER_01: Good and I didn't spoil Get Out Good Those are two that you cannot spoil I loved them so I'm so I'm so glad you didn't spoil those two yeah they are amazing yeah but they're not Scooby-Do they're not 2001 2002 2002 come on 2002 oh sorry I swear it was 2001 no alright sorry sorry sorry maybe I maybe they shot it in 2001 probably um yeah it came out uh June 2002 so yeah okay alright um okay so let's move on to the final segment then which is do you have a movie that's the reverse of this which is a very well reviewed and loved movie that you think is bad oh I had to think so hard because I can't remember anything these but I can't I know that there are loads there are loads when I've just been like there but for some reason one that popped in my head was the live action version of Cinderella the new one yeah with Lily James Oh sorry I thought you meant the I thought you meant that new that brand new one with Camilla Cabello Oh no no I was like everyone hated that I haven't watched that yet I'm going to I haven't watched it because of the clips that I've seen the clips are bad really yeah it's a shame because I feel like I'm I was surprised she did it because she seems better than that I'm not sure um but yeah so this this Lee Jones one I've just looked it up and it's 83% so like yeah obviously people really enjoyed it I haven't seen it was you haven't it was just a bit I guess it's just the whole Cinderella issue that I have but I didn't realise just how pathetic she was like she she gets locked up in like the tower whatever her room at the end.
- 1:11:46SPEAKER_02: I thought she gets locked up I thought you said she gets knocked up I was like what that is a twist no she does it no she gets locked up in her room she doesn't do anything to try and get out she just cries and I can't remember how she gets out there and I think like the animals help her or something but they're really doing the legwork like she's she's a bit pathetic.
- 1:12:12SPEAKER_02: So I guess that's um a film that I just feel like they're making it too many times now it doesn't need to be continuously made oh my god the best version um is Hillary Dust Cinderella Story of Cinderella Story I can watch that forever it's obviously the best version of Olga Cock I listened to Olga Cock talk about it and I love Olga Cock.
- 1:12:38SPEAKER_01: But I don't understand how anyone gave that film a bad rating it's not pretending to be anything more it knows what it is it knows what it is yeah it's a fun movie and it has Hillary Duff singing all the way throughout over the top go and listen to that episode as well listeners it's a it's right the way at the start of the of this podcast it's like one of the earliest episodes but it's very fun.
- 1:13:07SPEAKER_01: You can immediately put it on after this but yeah uh so Cinderella it's this one then what's is there anything different about there's no I can't it was very forgettable to me.
- 1:13:23SPEAKER_02: There's no chemistry between Lily James and what's his face Madden Richard Madden there's no chemistry there I mean the costumes are quite good okay Cinderella pathetic but I guess I guess they all are but actually they're not because Hilary Duff wasn't no she's she stood up yeah she's powerful strong but like I think they've tried to s make the Disney one stick too much to the original cartoon where she did nothing apart from oh this is a Disney one then it is a Disney one yeah yeah so it can't be it's not a musical is it singing it no I don't think so well there's some singing it no I don't think so um okay another film I've just thought of it yeah it's gonna sound like I have it out for Lily James but I don't I like Lily James but Mamma Mia What is so I don't like it I'm just laughing because you're gonna get so much hate for that oh no I loved Mamma Mia I went to see like my my mum took me to see it in the theatre when I was younger and I loved that and then I watched it so the second one are you talking about the first one?
- 1:14:47SPEAKER_02: I'm talking about both of them but I haven't watched the second one but that's the Liddy James the second one looks Oh right yes yes yes oh I have watched it I have watched it I watched it recently yeah no it was bad yeah it was bad it was bad it doesn't make it it's bad why did they kill Meryl Streep?
- 1:15:06SPEAKER_02: Uh I don't know but Meryl I didn't I don't oh sorry that's fine okay um but I remember they shot it when they shot it in Oxford when I was in Oxford and like my friend like walked across a set and they were like get out of the set because it's like a very s small scene where she graduates from Oxford I think.
- 1:15:27SPEAKER_01: I did the same thing for the movie um uh The Other Guys they were filming it while I was like in New York and I like walked past it as they were filming and they were like they need to make it more obvious that they're filming stuff obviously how you meant to know um wait the other guys who's in that it's the um Will Ferrell Mark Wahlberg film Oh my gosh wait hold on I remember when that premiered in the U in London because I happened to be in London that day and then like Will Farrell went by in the car or something.
- 1:16:05SPEAKER_02: But that was ages ago Yannis Yeah it still happens you must have been a child I was twenty oh how old was I I was a child you were not that much younger than me I don't understand No I don't I don't understand maybe in my warp warped warped sense of you would have been a teenager then when um yeah uh wait you don't like either Mummy then I don't like either Mamma Mia but I especially don't like the second one.
- 1:16:41SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:16:42SPEAKER_02: Because it's obviously just being made for money.
- 1:16:46SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 1:16:47SPEAKER_01: But it's so bad.
- 1:16:48SPEAKER_01: It's just a cash grab.
- 1:16:50SPEAKER_02: It's so awful and like oh I don't you haven't seen it have you?
- 1:16:56SPEAKER_01: No.
- 1:16:56SPEAKER_01: I've seen the first one.
- 1:16:58SPEAKER_02: Because it's like obviously Lily James plays the younger version of Meryl Streep.
- 1:17:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah this character.
- 1:17:03SPEAKER_02: And then they've got her two friends like Meryl Streep's two friends who are also play they're a younger version of them as well but like they didn't pick anyone that looks like slightly like them.
- 1:17:12SPEAKER_02: They just cut the hair the same like no one's had the same hair from when they're like 20 to when they're like late 60s.
- 1:17:25SPEAKER_02: So I think you'd add that to your actually Mamma Mia 2 I bet people love it don't they?
- 1:17:31SPEAKER_02: I bet Rotten Tomatoes audience freaking love it.
- 1:17:33SPEAKER_01: What do you think is rated?
- 1:17:35SPEAKER_01: 68 Okay's what I'll tell you the critics like it more than the audience.
- 1:17:41SPEAKER_02: That's disgusting so And they like it more than Scooby Doo.
- 1:17:47SPEAKER_02: The critics gave it 79 the audience gave it 65 That is atrocious the critics didn't watch it did they?
- 1:17:56SPEAKER_02: They just saw Merrill Streep and they were like well we've gotta give it at least 70 yeah it's the fact that she's in it isn't it yeah but not that much Yanis spoiler Does she die at the start?
- 1:18:11SPEAKER_02: She's dead from the beginning yeah she doesn't even we don't get to see her like deteriorate she just is dead.
- 1:18:18SPEAKER_02: They don't even explain it Um no they don't it's like a mysterious illness like a vague vague illness like probably cancer or right got you I'm trying to find out what the first one is as well um have you not seen the first oh you have seen the first one.
- 1:18:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah yeah I bet the first one's really high yeah if they like the second one that much then yeah wow this is really surprising the first one is it's lower than the second the first one is 55% What?
- 1:18:58SPEAKER_02: I thought that was the one everyone loved I thought that was I'm sure that was the one everyone loved what no that's wrong something's happened there's there's been a there's been an accident there's been a mis a mistake on Rotten Tomatoes there's no way that the critics gave the second film 70 something percent the second Mamma Mia That's insane and also there's a 10 year gap between the two movies what I didn't realise either yeah I was I was sure it was like only a few years apart um what does the Twilight what do the Twilight movies rank?
- 1:19:34SPEAKER_01: The first one You know what's really funny is I've got Mamma Mia up here and it says she might also like Twilight and Twilight has 49%.
- 1:19:48SPEAKER_02: Is that too high for your podcast?
- 1:19:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah that's ridiculous as if as if Scooby-Doo is rated lower than Twilight yeah New Moon has 28% okay whatever one that is a piece of crap that's the one where Jacob is in Taylor Launer isn't he in all as a child no oh yeah he's very briefly in the first one but he really takes a leading role I thought the three of them were all in all in like main they were like the main characters of all of them.
- 1:20:22SPEAKER_01: No no Jacob's barely in it the first one um I haven't watched the second one though because I cannot bring myself to no I don't think um you should bother now just read about it and be done with it um yeah I what was I gonna say oh I it's hard for me to critique films although I it may not sound like it's hard for me to critique films but like until I was maybe like sixteen or seventeen I didn't realise that a film could be bad.
- 1:20:57SPEAKER_02: It took you that long and I watched I watched Norbit and then I was like also on the podcast what is it?
- 1:21:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah Erica Eela that is so bad I went to the cinema with my friend to watch that's what I'm gonna do and I came out like what the hell I paid money for that I saw so I saw Dream Girls and that within like a few weeks of each other and I was like oh Eddie Murphy's such a good actor I love him oh he's amazing and then Norbit and I was like oh no no no no no oh no he ruined it was a bad film.
- 1:21:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah Norbit's awful sorry Erica if you're ever listening to this but you know we you know it's a bad movie.
- 1:21:46SPEAKER_01: Um yeah okay so that I think that wraps it up everything up.
- 1:21:52SPEAKER_01: That's it thank you so much for doing this well thanks for having me yeah of course uh how can we find you online and do you have anything you want to plug?

- 1:22:49SPEAKER_01: Second Scooby-Doo movie I will but you have to um watch the entirety of Game of Thrones No absolutely not I can't deal with that I can't get invested in someone that's just gonna die two episodes later even like yeah no no um I appreciate I don't even want you to watch Game of Thrones to be honest I heard the ending sucked oh yeah it does that's why I wouldn't yeah my dad was really angry yeah watch Twilight series with your dad yeah I think I will oh he's already watched it yeah but he's a big fan yeah he'll watch it again um yeah alright cheers bye that's the end of the podcast if you enjoyed it please leave us a review and rate us a like too so we can end up making more episodes and I'll see you next week for more movies that critics.gov
