- 0:13Now let's get to this week's show.
- 0:24My wallet is sobbing. I can hear it.
- 0:27I can hear it in the hall now. It is breaking down crying.
- 0:36It turns out that Attila the arrogant so and so he's got a
- 0:39fake hammer. Oh.
- 0:41A fake Whoa. As I say, Dick.
- 0:52Welcome to episode 8, E two of the Allegiance podcast.
- 0:56And yesterday I was going on a load of roller coasters with my
- 1:00kids, and tonight we're going on a roller coaster journey through
- 1:04one of Rich's custom factions, the Red Hellions.
- 1:08Is that right, Rich? Or do they?
- 1:10Do they come with a the OR is it just red Hellions?
- 1:13I do call them red hellions. I'm a rebel like that.
- 1:16Yeah, that's fair enough. I'm always I'm always worried
- 1:19about the because some people are like, oh, it's not of the
- 1:23some other people are like the is very important, like in our
- 1:26name of the your Allegiance podcast.
- 1:28There you go. And very good.
- 1:31So you're excited for that. You're going to be doing a lot
- 1:33of bio reading tonight instead of Mal.
- 1:35I am apologies everyone was listening.
- 1:37It's not me Miles. Dulcet tones.
- 1:38He's still getting over COVID. I think you have a great, you
- 1:42have a great radio voice. I always find myself when I'm
- 1:47editing the episodes, listening back on.
- 1:48I don't need to do much of Richie, just sounds good.
- 1:53John, you don't get into my pants that easily.
- 1:58It's only me I have to do stuff with and Mal when he's sick, but
- 2:03all of us when we're sick. Yeah, although sometimes that's
- 2:06not part, you know, there's this thing on the when you're doing
- 2:09the, you know, EQ for voice. And sometimes you can, you know,
- 2:12make it a bit brighter if somebody is a bit too, you know,
- 2:15sounding sick. But sometimes that frequency
- 2:18isn't there to boost because they're so sick.
- 2:22But yeah, I think we'll be fine this week.
- 2:25We'll be fine. So how are you boys?
- 2:28Another what? What are we must be done to 9
- 2:30weeks now officially to lead and scan.
- 2:32I just did my ESTA today for for those foreigners.
- 2:36You know what it is? It's the visa waiver thing to
- 2:39get into the states. Just give $21.00 bribe and fill
- 2:44out a form and you're done. I did mine ages ago, which which
- 2:50is very organized and not like me at all, but the exchange rate
- 2:53has got so much better now that I should have done it now
- 2:55because yeah, yeah. And 50.
- 2:56And I noticed it was less than EUR than dollars even after the
- 3:00bad exchange rate from PayPal. I need to go and sort my cash
- 3:03out. It's a really good, really good
- 3:05time at the moment. Yeah, I was in the post office
- 3:09the other day and it was 126 to the pound.
- 3:12Wow. Which is the best the dollar has
- 3:13been for a long, long? Time.
- 3:14Oh my goodness, that's. When I went to Legion, yeah,
- 3:17that's Rose, Yeah. When I went to Legions Con 22,
- 3:20it was 107 I think, because Liz Trust had just tanked the entire
- 3:25UK economy. So in fact, I took some money
- 3:28out of the cash machine in the hotel lobby and it actually cost
- 3:32me more in pounds that I got out in dollars.
- 3:35So it's like, Oh my God, that is I remember when the first year
- 3:39we went to legions con all of us, and I remember the exchange
- 3:42rate was particularly bad that year.
- 3:44I was like my first time going to the America and I was like,
- 3:48I'm actually getting done by the exchange rate.
- 3:51It was almost like it was especially for me that I was
- 3:53just getting this really bad rate.
- 3:56But yeah, I think we were all just a bit unlucky.
- 3:58But yeah. So any American listeners,
- 4:01probably not the best time to visit Europe and the UK at the
- 4:04moment because you've your your daughters won't get too much.
- 4:07Unfortunately I need to get my get my money sorted sooner
- 4:10rather than later. Yeah, well.
- 4:11I've got $300.00 because when I got home last year, I was
- 4:14unpacking everything and then Kerry was like, oh, I'll grab
- 4:17your wallet. Yeah, wallet your passport and
- 4:20ship it in there like the family folder sort of thing.
- 4:22Yeah. And she's like, what's this?
- 4:23And she pulled that $300.00 in cash.
- 4:27I didn't spend it. That is $300.00 I forgot to
- 4:29spend. That's like, that's like the
- 4:32best, Yeah. She forgot to spend.
- 4:34Yeah. That's, that's another 10
- 4:36minutes of plastic packaging in the room.
- 4:42That is the best, you know, emptying your your pants for
- 4:44putting them in the wash. That is the best ever
- 4:47experience, you know, Well, I was very good.
- 4:49I mean I, I obviously did pretty decently at our table and a lot
- 4:54of that was in cash of course and didn't manage to spend it or
- 4:58any spending I did, I maybe did with card or possible.
- 5:01And so yeah, I have I have over $1000 still in the in the safe
- 5:07upstairs. So, so I put it there and I said
- 5:11I'm just going to leave it. I'm not going to exchange it.
- 5:13It's going to be a really nice bonus for next year, and that's
- 5:17what it's turning out to be. As they open the safe to look at
- 5:21get my passports to, you know, do the EST application.
- 5:24I was like, oh, there's the dollars.
- 5:25Yeah. Wow, that's awesome.
- 5:27Yeah, I still need to do my S to.
- 5:29My current one is valid until the 25th of October.
- 5:33And yeah, damn it. Well, I don't know if you like
- 5:37like you do. I've subsequently found out you
- 5:40do get a reminder because I got an e-mail reminder about mine
- 5:44like the week before. But when I, I think I might have
- 5:48mentioned it on the show previously, but when I first
- 5:50checked, oh, when is mine valid until it said it was like 1212
- 5:57or 912. So I thought that was the 9th of
- 6:00December, of course, because that's the way the date goes
- 6:04here. But it's the American date
- 6:06format. So thankfully I checked.
- 6:08I did think it's a bit weird because I've surely got it in
- 6:11September. We got it 12th of September,
- 6:13obviously the year because they last for two years.
- 6:17So I thought it was it was gone. It's a bit weird runs out in
- 6:20December and it turns out it was because two years was September,
- 6:25which is of course before November, which is you just
- 6:29gone. So yeah and Speaking of legions,
- 6:33we got new retailer pricing this week.
- 6:37That was a pretty nice. So Jeremy had mentioned it on
- 6:40his show that the the convention pricing and the retailer pricing
- 6:45were going to start to converge as to what they would charge at
- 6:48conventions would become closer to what retailer pricing would
- 6:53be. But that also meant that the
- 6:55retailer pricing would come down.
- 6:57And what seems to have settled on is $45.00 for a standard
- 7:01figure which is working out at €41.00 at the moment.
- 7:08I saw the latest pre-order here. Yeah, during online readers.
- 7:13We're not getting quite as good a deal over here.
- 7:15It's 43 lbs which is chunk more than $45.00, but it's it's
- 7:21better than it was. Yeah.
- 7:22But you had a bad, you had a bad kind of rate previously, didn't
- 7:27you? You had, yeah, yeah.
- 7:29So slightly better on the exchange rate.
- 7:32So that's good. I think we're all happy with
- 7:34that. That might change the pre
- 7:36ordering tactic. I think for me I might start to
- 7:40be going full retailer pre-orders.
- 7:42I don't know if it starts to go that way.
- 7:48My say we don't need allegiance con if they're going to be
- 7:50making less of each figure like they said.
- 7:52Yeah. But then I do think that you
- 7:55know what, they mostly in an ideal world, obviously they have
- 7:59to sell what they have in the warehouse, totally understand
- 8:02that. But obviously as they go along,
- 8:04they can start to change how the world where else looks by
- 8:09basically mostly selling. I chose stuff that they only can
- 8:13get from them direct, which would be obviously figure
- 8:16obscure stuff like the Legion builders.
- 8:19I mean, Legion builders are great show purchase, you know,
- 8:22especially people that maybe don't know the line or people
- 8:25that are wanting to go to the show to kind of boost up their
- 8:31collection and get a bunch of Legion builders that or maybe
- 8:36more difficult to get to when they were on sale.
- 8:39And and some other kind of exclusives, like maybe the
- 8:41leftover Allegiance cons, you know, stuff that they've had and
- 8:46stuff like the mistrust and that kind of stuff.
- 8:48So yeah, I think that's that might be cool if it ends up
- 8:53going that way. And then the odd figure, you
- 8:55know, from previous waves that they might have had an overstock
- 8:58of or whatever, but no guarantee.
- 9:00And they did say that they're not going to do, they've no
- 9:03plans to do the what they used to do up until probably a Lithia
- 9:06wave, which was an in stock sale shortly after the the retailers
- 9:13kind of got to ship their stuff. So All in all, I think probably
- 9:18good. I know there was varying
- 9:20opinions online, but I think this is generally a good thing.
- 9:24Yeah, I'd agree. I think as you've said, well, I
- 9:31don't think you actually said it here, but you've said to us
- 9:33before you feels like it make. And don't be giving up my
- 9:36secrets. It makes it, it's going to make
- 9:39it much more appealing to the retailers as well, isn't it?
- 9:42And. Good for the retailers too,
- 9:44yeah. Business for the retailers that
- 9:46will help the lot, help them feel they can get more stock in
- 9:52and in turn help the line grow potentially again.
- 9:57Because you're still getting the the lower price when you
- 10:00pre-order direct. Yes, but.
- 10:03For that privilege, you're having to pay in advance and you
- 10:07know, maybe give your money a year, year and a half out.
- 10:12I think when it came to shows, OK, you're going to the show and
- 10:15you're paying the entrance for pre at the show.
- 10:17You could say whatever, but there is a lot of shows around
- 10:20where they are. And so those people even not
- 10:24just for us being over the pond, but you know, the people maybe
- 10:27on the West know East Coast of America and had much better
- 10:31opportunity to get them figures that shows, even though they do
- 10:35St. teams and all that on the on the West Coast now and stuff.
- 10:38But if they weren't coming within a couple, you know, 100
- 10:42miles of where you live, you weren't never going to go to a
- 10:44show possibly, you know, or maybe legions gone.
- 10:47So this kind of evens the field a little bit.
- 10:50And yeah, for the retailers, it gives, you know, it, it makes
- 10:56people realize that that's probably the best secondary way
- 11:00of getting the figures because, yeah, if when does the secondary
- 11:06market go up? It's always when the retailers
- 11:09sell out. Yeah.
- 11:12You know, and I sort of stuff is sitting at retailers for ages
- 11:16and not selling. Eventually the retailers won't
- 11:19order extras. They'll just do their month long
- 11:22pre-order after the direct pre-order and they'll take all
- 11:28the orders in from customers and just order customer service
- 11:32stock extra instead of probably what they do now, which is they
- 11:36maybe order 20% or whatever high, you know, multiple extra
- 11:42on the basis that we'll probably sell them as well.
- 11:44And I can invest this much money extra in the line.
- 11:48If they're not selling because you know, people are going to
- 11:52shows and getting them for cheaper, then yeah, the
- 11:55retailers will buy less. The whole, the overall pre-order
- 11:57will be smaller because the retailer's orders part of the
- 12:02pre-order and eventually the secondary market prices will be
- 12:07higher. So yeah, if you're in the system
- 12:09and you can regularly go to shows, you could probably think,
- 12:12OK, yeah, it's a bit worse for me, but it's, it's a fiber
- 12:16figure. Would you pay a fiber figure?
- 12:18I mean to. You know, to kind of keep, keep
- 12:22it that they have loads of retailers, you know.
- 12:25But you have to be, you have to be realistic here as well.
- 12:27The people who are already in the community, they've got us,
- 12:31you know, to keep going, they need to grow.
- 12:34And so they need to appeal to new people and a lower price
- 12:39point will do that. And low and new people, they do
- 12:42get a fair few from, from conventions and people being
- 12:47really good in the street teams and the studio themselves.
- 12:51But that relies on people actually being at the shows in
- 12:57the EU, you know, outside of the US, that's not such a common
- 13:01thing. I mean, it's pretty much
- 13:04nonexistent, isn't it, realistically?
- 13:07Yeah. And, and if people are used to
- 13:10ordering from certain retailers, that's a good way of them
- 13:14discovering the line as well, because they don't need to learn
- 13:17a whole new ordering process of going direct or, you know, going
- 13:21into the the Facebook group. I mean, it's good when you're in
- 13:26the cabal for 2-3 years and everybody knows you when you can
- 13:29get deals. But when you're a new member,
- 13:32maybe you don't even want to go on Facebook, you know?
- 13:35And that well, and they're also are still people who are
- 13:38nervous, put it that way, of buying from abroad as well,
- 13:44aren't they? You know, the thought of buying
- 13:48for an American AUS retailer. Oh, no, no, no, no, no.
- 13:51So yeah, because it's the unknown, you don't know.
- 13:54And and like, yeah, getting the taxi, getting the customers bill
- 13:58or whatever it might be. If you don't, if you're not used
- 14:00to that system, it's just completely daunting.
- 14:02It's doesn't, it's not the dollar value that's the problem.
- 14:05It's the why am I paying more? What's this?
- 14:08I don't understand it. I'm getting screwed because you
- 14:11don't know but system. So yeah, it's always better if
- 14:14there's a local way of getting it for sure when they can so.
- 14:21I think Jeremy also said excitingly that they're going to
- 14:25try and level off the price of Legion builders at retailers as
- 14:28well. That's always been the, that's
- 14:30always been the huge step up, you know, $26 Legion builder and
- 14:34they're charging $45 or whatever is a retailer.
- 14:37So they're going to try and level that out of it as well.
- 14:39Not be. That'd be really handy.
- 14:40Yeah. Yeah, that would be good.
- 14:42Yeah. Although a lot of the Legion
- 14:45builders recently have been in those reinforcement waves, but
- 14:49would be nice maybe for them to introduce a couple of Legion
- 14:51builders in in the next couple of waves.
- 14:54Maybe there's no new new types. Of course there is.
- 14:58Of course there is. I mean just my I'd suggest a
- 15:01lizard man legion builder would be very popular, just saying.
- 15:07Lizard. I didn't know you like lizards.
- 15:14What color? I was work.
- 15:16I was working on a couple of ideas for Legions Con T-shirts
- 15:19myself. Oh.
- 15:20Yeah. And it's this fair to say, one
- 15:23of the mighty Marvel Lizard of some sort.
- 15:27Who are you going to steal the lizard picture from, you know?
- 15:31No, it's not a trouser snake, don't worry.
- 15:34Oh my goodness, a trouser snake. I think he's being generous, but
- 15:43anyway. Trouser worm.
- 15:50Trouser Chipolata. Oh my God.
- 15:54Anyway, moving on. Moving along quickly, quickly,
- 15:58quickly. So apart from shirts has written
- 16:02you've been working on, we're going to talk about your custom
- 16:06faction, Rich, but is there anything else that's been going
- 16:08on? I sent you boys picture earlier,
- 16:13my first ever cosmic custom. It needs a little bit of work on
- 16:18it still. It was a sort of rough go sort
- 16:20of thing but it's an open lean combined with Terminator from
- 16:26NECA and a 3D printed head. Well I'm very happy with it,
- 16:30although I've already changed what I'm going to do character
- 16:32wise so I still need to write bio but.
- 16:35Now these Necker parts look, they look good.
- 16:37They look like they'll work well.
- 16:39They do the arm, the arm's a little bit longer, but as you
- 16:42said, Mal, if you just, you can cut a little bit of the arm off
- 16:44and just glue the hand back on and it's, it's absolutely fine
- 16:47if you're worried about that. But if you just get the posing
- 16:49right, yeah, you know, straight to attention, John, and that you
- 16:53wouldn't, you'd never tell. Yeah, well, I mean looking at
- 16:56some of the, we'll see some of your pictures later, there is
- 16:59some straight to attention and some quite well posed.
- 17:01So, you know, variety is the spice of life, I always say.
- 17:06I think I put myself out with the the new Skeleton Legion
- 17:08building of the week and that's my posing done.
- 17:12So much fun. Look, look, look.
- 17:13It's just still on my desk. Look.
- 17:17Bits of them falling over. Yeah, When I was, I was doing a
- 17:21bit of painting this afternoon, early evening.
- 17:24And my kids were down and they were popping and swapping like
- 17:28crazy. I mean, they're better than me
- 17:30at this stage. He was there with the newbies.
- 17:33He was taking bits off. He was putting cosmic bits on
- 17:35him. It's like I need to take photos
- 17:38of these dude, you know? And then you put the Li J helmet
- 17:40on backwards and I was like, what's that piece?
- 17:42Did you pull something off it? And it looked really good
- 17:45backwards on the head. So now the back of it might, you
- 17:49might need to do something with if it was like going to be a
- 17:52permanent custom, but it definitely looked good on the
- 17:55skeleton head. So there you go.
- 17:58Didn't take a picture, of course, but yeah, find out for
- 18:03yourselves. We all have one.
- 18:05And you, Mal, I saw you posted an awesome custom in the cabal.
- 18:09I have it here. Yeah, yeah.
- 18:11I've been sort of trying to get back into doing a few more bits
- 18:14and pieces. She'd been done for a little
- 18:16bit, but I hadn't. It's taking me ages to get
- 18:20weapons painted for I've got another one that I'll try and
- 18:23post next weekend during the coming weekends.
- 18:25Could that I finished a while ago and I'm just painting the
- 18:28guns. She, she started my post was a
- 18:33little bit dismissive, but I just she started out as a plan
- 18:37to be something else, which I've already I've still got plans to
- 18:40do. But because I like the Bastet
- 18:43part so much, she kind of just turned into a, into a cosmic
- 18:51kind of cat alien that used, and I mean, I spent the time paint
- 18:57matching. You can't see, it's a bit dark,
- 19:00but paint matching the boots. And I cut up one of the other
- 19:06belts and glued the pouches onto the Bastet belt.
- 19:13Oh, they're glued on all right. Yeah, yeah, lightly glued, let's
- 19:16say and paint match that. But then when it came to the
- 19:20weapons, I just couldn't be bothered mixing the paints
- 19:23again, so I just painted them similar colours which and I
- 19:29actually really really like the. Yeah, they turned out great.
- 19:33More close up of them. Yeah, yeah, I really it's makes.
- 19:38Such a difference on those cosmic weapons with a bit of
- 19:41paint detail. Yeah, I think I'm going to paint
- 19:43more of them. It's made it triggered me to
- 19:45want to do that, not not. As you did them after the
- 19:49standard. Oh.
- 19:51Boom boom. Comedy just runs through me.
- 19:54It does Mal comedy genius Kennedy.
- 19:59No one else had called me that, but yeah.
- 20:05Well, you're on this podcast, so you're our comedy genius and
- 20:11then else on the go or. Bits and pieces.
- 20:14I've wrote a few notes down. Do you want me to go through my
- 20:17sort of thing? Yeah, sure.
- 20:18And then we'll go on to the. So yeah, it's sort of as I say,
- 20:21I've been trying to get back into painting a bit more because
- 20:24I took quite a long break and it's it's spotty.
- 20:27I'm mostly doing heads, a lot of cosmic stuff and going away and
- 20:33trying to find some sort of interesting design ideas, paint
- 20:39ideas, and so, you know, stealing them by watching sci-fi
- 20:45TV shows, the various ones. One in particular, I've recently
- 20:49watched Star Trek Prodigy on Netflix.
- 20:53It's for the kids, but it is fun.
- 20:56Yeah. And there's a load is.
- 20:57It an animated or? Yeah, yeah, it's an animated
- 21:00one. It's one of these where
- 21:03essentially the kids are suddenly capable of going on
- 21:09secret missions for. For what do they call it in in
- 21:16Star Trek the the Alliance? No.
- 21:18What's it called The I was going to say Empire.
- 21:20It's not the Empire. Federation.
- 21:22Federation in Star Trek, which is a bit like, you know, that's
- 21:26where it's aimed at kids and you have to suspend your disbelief a
- 21:29bit. But it's fun.
- 21:30It's easy to watch, quite some cool sort of adventure elements,
- 21:35but then some really cool character designs in it as well.
- 21:38So I've been sort of taking it, found a few stills of them and
- 21:42gradually trying to sort of, I'm not good enough to copy them
- 21:47completely, but try and do a version of them and and of
- 21:50course, sometimes it isn't going to work anyway on a painted
- 21:54model like that. But but I'm having a go.
- 21:58The other thing reading comics, the comics I'm reading, I'm sort
- 22:01of looking at other characters and you know, their designs.
- 22:04And Alien Legion is one that I picked up after it was
- 22:11recommended by Trevor 16 Shooter last night wrote the Legions
- 22:16con. So I'm going to possibly try and
- 22:19paint a couple of things to look like the characters in there.
- 22:22Not not the customs themselves, just the heads you know to.
- 22:25Catch. Them and then the other thing I
- 22:27want to, it's more sort of in the back of my mind.
- 22:32I want to do some space dwarfs because yeah, dwarves are so fun
- 22:37and. Yeah, there's been some good
- 22:39ones. Yeah, some very good ones.
- 22:42I think Mark Calvo had one, Noah had one.
- 22:45It's an. Amazing.
- 22:46One. Yeah.
- 22:46Noah's Jeremy using the head that Noah said, you know,
- 22:51produced to do one. Oh yeah, he did one, Yeah.
- 22:55Of course, Anthony. Yeah, yeah.
- 22:56Yeah, yeah, and and helped someone, I think.
- 22:59I couldn't find the post again though, to do like a little
- 23:02mining crew or he helped them design A logo for it.
- 23:07And yeah, I need to do some, and you've sent me very kindly the
- 23:13Mark Caro Calvo Mal Mal head. Oh, that's right, yeah.
- 23:18That you gifted me that, so I want to use that for something
- 23:21and. Yeah, that could be a good
- 23:24cosmic dwarf, definitely. One of the one of the newer 3D
- 23:29people had a dwarf. Couple of cosmic dwarf was a
- 23:31borderland ward I think maybe. Could have been your stock in
- 23:35their time. Last year, yeah.
- 23:39I said you're stalking their page, so it's probably.
- 23:44I spend one or two hours a day on it.
- 23:46It's like, that's not stalking. Yeah, Rich is there and we're
- 23:51called and he's just like, oh, oh, yeah, OK there, Rich.
- 23:55Oh, sorry, it wasn't amused. This this vitally important
- 23:58thing? OK, yeah.
- 23:59But this 3D head? Seriously.
- 24:01Never mind. You know what's happening at
- 24:02work, This 3D head. Yeah, I know it's life or death,
- 24:05but I mean, this is more important.
- 24:08There is, there is one final sort of custom that I've had
- 24:12partially in the works for. It's probably a year, nearly a
- 24:15year now. It's the whole months.
- 24:18All of it is all of it. I'm so slow doing everything.
- 24:22But that's hobbying. You see, you're really a hobby
- 24:24painter, which is that doesn't have any reflection on skill or
- 24:29otherwise. It's that's more to do with the
- 24:31pace. You know, you do as a hobby, you
- 24:33do when you have time. Yeah, a little bit here, a
- 24:36little bit there. I'll I'll decide.
- 24:38I'm not focused on a day and painted a little bit.
- 24:41I'm like, that felt far more difficult than it should have
- 24:44been, leave it and and that sort of thing.
- 24:47So but yeah, the other one is kind of I mentioned the Corvus
- 24:50Cabal, yes, but as some as inspiration, I get quite a bit
- 24:55of inspiration from like Warhammer and Warhammer 40K
- 24:58Yeah. And so I'm working on one based
- 25:01on there's another chaos cult called Tarantulas or Tarantulas
- 25:07Brood. They're like spider people.
- 25:10So using a kit I got from I think it was from the Wolf den
- 25:18Wolfgang. Yeah, wolf king custom.
- 25:20Sorry. Yeah, wolf dens but but face.
- 25:24Best third group? Yeah, from Wolf King customs.
- 25:27That was a spider head and spider legs that you could plug
- 25:32into the back. And now John the Light.
- 25:38John's painted some for me recently so he definitely knows.
- 25:40That Oh, yeah. I do know though.
- 25:41Yeah, yeah. They were the ones that did.
- 25:43Was it red, green and yellow? No.
- 25:46Red, blue and yellow. Yeah.
- 25:47Primary colours, basically, yeah.
- 25:50And yeah, and of course now there's that head that we've, it
- 25:54has been shown on on Facebook on the but then the latest phone
- 26:01box, the spider sort of head in there is so cool under using
- 26:06that out or using that somehow for the spider character.
- 26:11But yeah, that's my sort of bits and pieces I've been doing.
- 26:15Cool, right? So I did a couple of big
- 26:19figures. So I did Cosmic Lizard.
- 26:23This is the DC Primal Age Joker Beast that I've just primed and
- 26:33then had fun with fluorescent paints and color shift metallics
- 26:40and stuff like that to make them kind of cosmic and a bit crazy.
- 26:45Not sure what to do with him. Probably would bring it to
- 26:47legions con at least have a on display at the desk if nothing
- 26:51else. So he's super fun.
- 26:56I was going to do the teeth, but they just ended up like I was
- 26:58going to do the like the teeth like teeth.
- 27:01But they actually just ended up looking kind of cool there with
- 27:04a bit of the overspray. So I think I might leave them
- 27:07because they just look cool. You can't see that, but in the
- 27:11pictures you showed us, the colour shift on the stomach and
- 27:14the belly. Yeah, really, really cool.
- 27:17Really. Yeah.
- 27:17So it's kind of it goes kind of goldish green as as you move it
- 27:22and then it goes into this purplish blue and then into the
- 27:25actual purple and green and red, then kind of red and orange.
- 27:29And there's a bit of pink along here that the end of the kind of
- 27:33scales on the top that goes red into kind of pink.
- 27:37So yeah. It's green cosmic there of that
- 27:39color. Yeah, yeah.
- 27:41And bright and out there, it's just.
- 27:44And the top half of it for sure will will glow under UV light,
- 27:48that's for sure. Those paints so excellent.
- 27:50That'll be fun to do. I didn't no batteries in my UV
- 27:53light, so I couldn't take a picture picture.
- 27:56But yeah, it looks good. And that's him.
- 28:00So fun. Fun.
- 28:01That was wasn't too difficult one.
- 28:04This was a bit more fiddly. This is the bear with the
- 28:09valiant Rich for scale. He's on his, he's on a trip to
- 28:16the caves with the bear. And so this bear, this is you
- 28:21tell me, Rachel, how did you come to get this?
- 28:25This is a 3D printed scope. It comes in two halves and I've
- 28:30put it together with cement and and stuff like that.
- 28:35So anyway, how did you come across this?
- 28:37So this was gifted to me actually by the wonderful
- 28:40Anthony Velez at Noble Bear Customs just out of the blue.
- 28:44I put a fairly large order in. I opened up the box.
- 28:48This is like at least 18 months ago.
- 28:49And I opened up the box. It's like, what the hell is
- 28:51this? It's massive.
- 28:53I opened it up and it's like, Oh my God, it's a full scale bear.
- 28:55I messaged him and he's like, yeah, do you know, good
- 28:57customer, do whatever you want with them.
- 28:59So I thought, you know what, I'm not a painter, but I know
- 29:03somebody who is. And as it was free to me and,
- 29:05you know, not going to sell it, we're going to.
- 29:11Give it away, give it a table allegiance can and my plan or
- 29:17the plan that we came up with. And I think you had mentioned
- 29:21some, some sort of a giveaway like this before, Rich.
- 29:24And this is where I think I at least ended up with the idea is
- 29:29we're going to have a pack of cards and they're going to be
- 29:31your allegiance branded cards. Managed to to get that done.
- 29:35Haven't got them yet, but I will have them.
- 29:37And any, anyone that orders from or that purchases something from
- 29:41us will get a card. If you do a particularly big
- 29:45purchase, obviously might throw in an extra card or two.
- 29:48And once we've gone through the cards, we'll get just a regular
- 29:52deck of cards and pull a card. And if you bring back the
- 29:56matching card from the allegiance deck to the one that
- 29:58we pulled. So, so hopefully we'll have kind
- 30:02of the cards given out on the Saturday one way or another.
- 30:05You know, if we're, if we're not selling like enough to get rid
- 30:09of all the cards, we'll give them to a couple of our booth
- 30:11buddies and they can give them away that way.
- 30:15And then on the Sunday pull a card.
- 30:18If you come back to the allegiance boot with the card,
- 30:20you get the bear. So pretty easy, pretty fun,
- 30:23little bit of excitement so. Yeah, it's a great.
- 30:27You did a fabulous job on the paint here as well.
- 30:28Yeah. Thank you.
- 30:29Awesome. Yeah.
- 30:30Yeah, I was. Yeah.
- 30:32I was gonna do gold here on the trim around the face, or bronze
- 30:36maybe, but I might just leave it.
- 30:40Let's see. It looks good as it is.
- 30:41It might. Problem is, if you do detail
- 30:44there, you might think I'll need to do detail.
- 30:46I think. Another.
- 30:48Might distract from the faith. And I think you've done a
- 30:50really, really good job on the face and it's a really cool
- 30:53looking face as well, so. Yeah.
- 30:55I wonder who sculpted that bearer.
- 30:56Is that a kind of an an enlarged sculpt from like a miniature?
- 31:02That, I don't know. It was, it was floating around,
- 31:06I think. I think Anthony might.
- 31:07Have might have been a free specifically.
- 31:09Yeah, or got it done, particularly for obviously a
- 31:11noble bear nature. The only other person I've seen
- 31:14with one, Brian Omeida, had one painted up I think a lot right.
- 31:20And B's any other person I've seen with one.
- 31:21So you know, there are many of that out there.
- 31:23I think it's. Better you go.
- 31:24There you go. So yeah, it will be rare as
- 31:28well, but it's very sturdy for a 3D printed piece for sure.
- 31:33Really nice. So that's them.
- 31:36I'm painting a load of heads and stuff trying to get ready for
- 31:40Leyton's Con and I also got my my books ma last week.
- 31:47Excellent Conan to he man. And these are and then this one.
- 31:52I haven't opened this property yet.
- 31:54This is after the world ends so when post apocalyptic movies
- 31:59were telling the future so it should be fun.
- 32:04Can't wait to get dig into that. Probably end up watching a load
- 32:07of bad movies as a result of that.
- 32:12I need to try and find out good. Bad Yeah, yeah, also came and
- 32:19maybe make myself big here. So also came with mouse mat
- 32:24where I got the mouse mat. I think it was how cool you quit
- 32:27more the he man one and then the beer mats.
- 32:32That's my favorite, Yeah, I'm going to mount them.
- 32:34Yeah, yeah. They come in this kind of card
- 32:37and you get a bunch of them like that.
- 32:41I think we've got maybe two or three, two sets of each or
- 32:44something like this. Yeah.
- 32:46But they're really nice. Yeah.
- 32:48So fun stuff. And the postage was crazy cheap
- 32:54on books like that came from Paris.
- 32:57But even for you, man, it wasn't expensive for the postage, was
- 33:00it? No, no, I can't remember how
- 33:01much it was, to be honest, but it was, yeah.
- 33:03I think it was less than. It's between 5:00 and 10:00.
- 33:06Mine was five. I think yours might have been
- 33:07seven or something. Or maybe.
- 33:08Something like that, Yeah. Yeah, it was really good.
- 33:11But. We're too big, heavy coffee
- 33:12table books and you know, those other things.
- 33:15So yeah, not for you, Rich, I know, but you know I.
- 33:19Post apocalyptic stuff would. Be that might be cool.
- 33:22Barbarian stuff? No, I was.
- 33:24I always dozed off when you guys thought about that.
- 33:26I definitely think after flicking through that I might
- 33:29get a couple of custom inspirations or something like
- 33:31that. Definitely so.
- 33:35Very good. So anything else?
- 33:38Or shall we get on with it, get into Rich's custom faction
- 33:42focus? Do this thing.
- 33:45RCFF. There we go.
- 34:02Because Rich was, we were supposed to record yesterday,
- 34:06but because Rich wasn't able to make it in the end, I had time
- 34:09to do that. It's very good.
- 34:11Not much time, as you could hear, but time nonetheless.
- 34:16Before Ryan gets. Too excited now it would have
- 34:18gotten any better. Let's.
- 34:19Put it that way. Possibly not, no.
- 34:22That's me that. Is mean, but it's it's true.
- 34:26Ryan gets too excited now as well.
- 34:28It's not a biker gang, despite the promo.
- 34:30Yeah. It's it's not a biker legions,
- 34:33it is myth allegiance stuff. True, true, true, right, Red
- 34:37hellions. We're going to go through the
- 34:40characters here for YouTube purposes and our purposes.
- 34:45I have a picture that Rich took of the character and we have
- 34:50some details about the character.
- 34:51And then Rich is going to do the bio as well.
- 34:53So why don't you take us through this guy and you can tell the
- 34:56name first, Rich, obviously, because that might be the easy
- 34:59to forget to mention. Yeah, and for anyone that's
- 35:02interested in these, they're all up on my on the cabal and also
- 35:07on Instagram, Richard Jones 5198 if anybody is looking for me
- 35:14really original name. I didn't just go with the auto
- 35:17generated 1. Obviously, yeah, you didn't take
- 35:22that handle when you knew you were going to be on a podcast.
- 35:24I didn't. No, no, I'd have gone for some.
- 35:26Rolls off the tongue that 5, even 1, even your eBay handle is
- 35:31better than that. Actually, that's what it should
- 35:34have been. It should have been in there,
- 35:37darn it. You can change it.
- 35:39Oh, I don't confuse people. I've got such a loyal following
- 35:41now, no. No, no, they you can change the
- 35:44handle and keep your followers and all that.
- 35:47OK, so the idea behind this is and Jeremy Gerard cursing
- 35:52started me off down this line, this path of getting one or in
- 35:57this case 2 figures and then just making multiple customs
- 36:00using those figures as the base body.
- 36:03I think it's a really cool way to give like a really cohesive
- 36:06sort of look to to the faction. I don't often do it, but I've
- 36:09got a small faction of scaphoid inspired figures.
- 36:15And then excuse me for the red hellions.
- 36:18I wanted to use the furious 4 figures.
- 36:21So the pelvicus slash Lord Bishotti figure and the Petorian
- 36:26slash UIT figure as the base. All of these.
- 36:32It's also a good way for the marketing manager to get to
- 36:35Dubai Baker's dozen of figures. I managed to resist this kind of
- 36:41ploy with the Relic Guard Templar Rally Guard.
- 36:43I don't know how but. I can say so.
- 36:46All those people wondering who on earth bought all those
- 36:51pelvicus bashati figures? It was rich.
- 36:56It was I bought. I bought the limit of 12 when
- 36:58they put it up. And then you gave me a couple as
- 37:00well, didn't I? And I bought eBay since then as
- 37:03well. So.
- 37:04I distinctly remember because it was this time last year or so,
- 37:08or is probably around this time last year, maybe a bit before,
- 37:12but we were doing the podcast already, so I do remember.
- 37:15He's talking about your dozen because Bashati Pretoria knew
- 37:22wit then was a bit less. It was, it was only about 9 or
- 37:2610 of him. I didn't get too carried away
- 37:29with him. Yes.
- 37:34So it's like, OK, I want to do a faction, have them all sort of
- 37:38theme and, you know, match each other.
- 37:40It's like, but everyone knows my love of custom stuff.
- 37:43So it's like right, I got loads of crazy custom heads here and a
- 37:46few of these heads I had I had set up for other plans
- 37:48originally. And it's like, how can I get in
- 37:51such a disparate bunch of characters and races and that
- 37:55together? And he's like a mercenary army.
- 37:57Here we go. This is how I'm going to do it.
- 38:01So the leader of the the Red Hellions is a real piece of work
- 38:05called Emperor Mang the Malevolent.
- 38:09No inspiration, obviously for Mingle Merciless there.
- 38:11That's just a pure coincidence that that name sounds like that.
- 38:18For those who can't, I can't, can't see.
- 38:21I mean looks totally the upset to being numerous.
- 38:23Yeah, he's hot. Yeah, he's.
- 38:29So, yeah, so he uses a head that was sculpted by Gianluca Siri
- 38:34Kello, probably pronouncing that badly.
- 38:36That was based on the design by Lord.
- 38:40Thank you, John. Based on the design by Lord
- 38:44Bishotti. So it used it was, you know,
- 38:46meant to beat he's unload Bishotti figure, Wolfkin
- 38:51customs. I'm painted by Jack Mitchell,
- 38:52who's a extremely talented British painter.
- 38:56A lot of the stuff here is him and another extremely talented
- 38:58British painter called Simon Crowe.
- 39:00So there's a lot of that stuff in here.
- 39:03I even got to use a scarabus piece though in this one as
- 39:06well. So the staff is from the I think
- 39:08it's demon fire Scarabus figure, which I managed to pick up year
- 39:14three or four years ago before they got insanely expensive as
- 39:16they are. Now you're one of the only
- 39:20people using Scarabus parts for real custom leases.
- 39:26And then the cloak was for a completely different figure
- 39:28originally, but then I thought, this guy is such a a hole an
- 39:32episode backside that he's going to have a ridiculous cloak like
- 39:35this. And the cloak itself was made by
- 39:37another very talented Brit. Bare Black does some really
- 39:41really good soft goods. So it's like a proper shiny
- 39:45cloak with like fur trim as well.
- 39:47It's just like, you know, it's a look at me cloak.
- 39:51So the bio for him. Emperor Mang is a man of pure
- 39:56evil. He is bloodthirsty for power and
- 39:58will stop at nothing to gain more power.
- 40:01He arrived in Mythos from a land far to the east with a band of
- 40:03villains, monsters and horrific scum that have now made Mythos
- 40:07their playground. He calls his vile band the Red
- 40:10Hellions. The few that have survived
- 40:12encounters with them tell of the hellions, utter cruelty and
- 40:15depravity. Such wanted to set the scene as
- 40:17these are These are nasty people.
- 40:20Man grew up the Crown Prince of an island Kingdom and willing to
- 40:23wait for his father to die to ascend the throne, he poisoned
- 40:26him. Unhappy with being just a king,
- 40:28he then declared himself emperor and set about destroying all the
- 40:31institutions that he regarded as a threat to his unrivaled power.
- 40:35He slaughtered his enemies and indeed half the populace of the
- 40:38island. Tales of his vileness began to
- 40:40spread across the ocean to to other like nearby lands.
- 40:44Fear his Fearing his growing power and ruthless reputation,
- 40:48the rulers of these various lands raised the United army
- 40:51against him. They overwhelmed Mang's army and
- 40:53drove him from his capital and eventually into the ocean
- 40:55itself. He and a small band of his most
- 40:58loyal followers fled. Over the next few years, he
- 41:00tried seizing power in many kingdoms, but without a large
- 41:04and powerful army, always failed.
- 41:06In one attempt though, he allied with a long and dead priest who
- 41:09told Mang of tales of his homeland, Mythos.
- 41:13Intrigued and excited by this vast continent called Mythos,
- 41:16Mang set sail with the remnants of his army.
- 41:19On the way, he picked up some truly evil warriors to form his
- 41:21Red Hellions, the main thrust the most terrifying part of his
- 41:24force. Now operating on the boundary of
- 41:27Xylonia and Etheros, Mang and his Red Hellions along with the
- 41:31mercenary army spread fear and destruction.
- 41:34Mang senses this may be his last chance for truly great power,
- 41:38and so drives his men forward with a promise of untold wealth
- 41:41and power when they conquer Mythos.
- 41:45So we're we're, we're already getting introduced to what's to
- 41:49come and it's not going to be, not going to be friendly folk.
- 41:54No, it's it's not a pleasant bunch.
- 41:56You wouldn't want to go drinking with them unless you had a
- 41:58particularly pungent for dying horribly.
- 42:00Yeah, exactly. Yeah, if you just sip in your
- 42:03drink and don't say and silly, don't say and silly don't get
- 42:05into a fight. Don't get into a fight.
- 42:07Just blend into the background here.
- 42:09Yeah. I love it.
- 42:12So beautifully done. Rich, I'm not going to spend the
- 42:15whole time just telling. You're great.
- 42:16So I've read these BIOS in prep for this episode, and they're
- 42:21great. So well done.
- 42:22We're going to just talk about the content from now on.
- 42:26Sound good now? Yeah.
- 42:28Or do you think they're terrible?
- 42:30I think they're awful. No, no, they're actually a
- 42:31really good. Wow.
- 42:32Yeah, No, I think they're really good.
- 42:36As I said in about our last show, I love hearing Richie's
- 42:40sort of take on things and the way he does things because it's
- 42:42so different how I think would do things, and it's great.
- 42:47It comes across so much more intelligent than I'm used to,
- 42:50which is I know he has, you know, he's gone to college and
- 42:57he's studied great. Was it archaeology, Ancient
- 43:02history? Sorry.
- 43:04So I know he must be at least that smart.
- 43:06So, you know, it shouldn't be a surprise, but sometimes it is
- 43:09still, you know, I'm just used to the guy that's like
- 43:13constantly late for the podcast. You know, that's a different.
- 43:15Exactly. Yeah, and it's a complete
- 43:18Luddite. With anything technical, it's
- 43:20like. Well, yeah, yeah, I can't what
- 43:22that, but I've come to the realization that being bad with
- 43:26technology has nothing to do with intelligence.
- 43:29That's just being bad with technology.
- 43:30It's a separate box. When I was designing one of the
- 43:34shirts earlier, I was just cropping pictures and all this
- 43:37sort of stuff and shoving wants a Word document and then you
- 43:40send and then took a cut of the Word document and just uploaded
- 43:43that onto a website for the T-shirts.
- 43:45Like yeah. Oh.
- 43:46My God, yeah, yeah. You sent a screenshot?
- 43:49Was it yesterday or the day before?
- 43:51But one you were doing. And I was like, that's my
- 43:53picture, I can crop out the background for you.
- 43:56Oh yeah, yeah, it's just a mock up.
- 43:59Yeah, it's just a mock up until you press print.
- 44:04Anyway, let's move along. Let's not distract too much
- 44:07because we've got a bit to get through here.
- 44:10Pumpkin Jack Pumpkin Jack So Jack the Pumpkin was once a
- 44:14children's entertainer and acknowledged nicest man in the
- 44:17area. He thrilled the children with
- 44:18wondrous stories of far off lands and wonderful mythical
- 44:21creatures. He would wear various costumes
- 44:24throughout the year and what around all the autumn harvest
- 44:27wore 1 where he was a pumpkin Jack though, was so friendly
- 44:30that he was easily taken advantage of by those with I'll
- 44:32intent. One such person pretended to
- 44:35have a love interest in him and won him over.
- 44:37They then stole the little savings he had and even took his
- 44:40costumes. Jack began wallowing in self
- 44:43pity over the theft and was overcome by an emotion he had
- 44:46never experienced before, Anger. He wanted revenge on his
- 44:50wrongdoer and he wanted it more than anything else in the world.
- 44:54One of the children he had once entertained and who now walked
- 44:56past this broken man lying in the gutter told him he should
- 44:59get revenge on his betrayer. How should I do that?
- 45:02Jack asked. Hire a witch to curse them, Came
- 45:05the answer. However Jack had no money to
- 45:08hire anyone and slumped back down into the gutter he now
- 45:10called home. Then one day a visitor came to
- 45:13town, a goblin alchemist called Swig along with several angry
- 45:17looking goblins. Swig spotted in Jack a broken
- 45:21being on which he could perform all sorts of warp tests.
- 45:24To his amazement he didn't have to drug and capture Jack though.
- 45:27Jack came to him and exclaimed. I'm the Pumpkin man and I need
- 45:31your help to get revenge. I can help, said Swig.
- 45:34I will create a poison for you that will take care of your
- 45:37betrayer. All I need from you is a little
- 45:39cooperation first. Jack submitted to the
- 45:42experiments willingly, Alas for both parties Swiggler, most
- 45:47goblins gets as many potions wrong as he does right.
- 45:50Using the local Gov, the local pumpkins as an unusual
- 45:53ingredient was a very big mistake.
- 45:56The second potion he tried on Jack had severe side effects and
- 45:59turned Jack from a mild slimly built human into a monstrous
- 46:03being with a pumpkin for a head and fangs for teeth.
- 46:06This being was as fearsome in personality as appearance and
- 46:10gutted all Swig's men. Swig barely escaped with his
- 46:13life. After wandering for hours, the
- 46:15beast began to get some semblance of intelligence back
- 46:18and Jack wondered what had happened to him.
- 46:21His question was answered when he saw his reflection in a
- 46:23stream. Driven mad by what he saw, he
- 46:26became the beast in nature as well as appearance.
- 46:29After killing a nearby farmer, he took the farmer's scythe and
- 46:32proceeded to slaughter the rest of the farmer's family.
- 46:35This being a pure evil, now finds himself aligned with Mang
- 46:39and carrying out brutal murder after brutal murder.
- 46:42Jack the Pumpkin is no longer a child's fun friend.
- 46:45He is now everyone's worst nightmare.
- 46:48Oh my God, did did you? Did you come up with the SWIG
- 46:52part after the 1000 Swigs or? No, this was before.
- 46:56Wow. So it's tied in quite nicely now
- 46:58with a yeah. So yeah, Swig was, you know,
- 47:02Swig is now his own main character, but he was in one of
- 47:05your stories before. That you like sneak sneak
- 47:09Pumpkin Jack in the back of the thousands swig picture if he's
- 47:12come to slaughter them all. For what they did too,
- 47:18definitely. If not, we'll.
- 47:19If not, we'll Photoshop them back in.
- 47:21Yeah, so obviously the Pumpkinhead you described in the
- 47:26bio. Yes, it's, it's a bonkers
- 47:29pumpkin head. So it's got like loads of
- 47:31different eyes. John, you've painted one of
- 47:33these as a cosmic. Cosmic wear purple and and
- 47:38pinkish. Yeah, but this one's a
- 47:40traditional sort of orange pumpkin colour.
- 47:43Jason Rodriguez sculpt Dustal Dawn Studio printed it, and
- 47:46again, Jack Mitchell painted it. That was a torso as well, from
- 47:50the same same setup. Exactly, I wanted something
- 47:54that's sort of blended in with the rest of the the uniform, but
- 47:57you know, it's got its own little bit of color as well.
- 47:59You can't see it brilliant on this picture, but it actually
- 48:01goes from the skeletal ribs and torso and about halfway up the
- 48:06neck and then starts turning orange into the head.
- 48:11I couldn't find a good angle to get that.
- 48:12But yeah, Jack did a really good job with the side is an actual
- 48:16figure fusion piece which Brian see printed for me like 2 years
- 48:21plus ago before I really knew Brian.
- 48:23But he printed out a load of weapons for me and sent them
- 48:25through and then our friend Zemo at Prop Masters painted it up
- 48:29for me as well. And then another bare black
- 48:33cloak. Nice.
- 48:35Yeah, Bare black. He's also Little John in some
- 48:37Robin Hood experience thing, isn't he?
- 48:40So. Yes, he also has been known to
- 48:42play Hagrid in the Harry Potter stuff as well.
- 48:45Wow, so there you go. He's a yeah, pretty cool guy.
- 48:49Tall lad, big beard. Yeah, there's all that sort of
- 48:51stuff. You.
- 48:52Fit in well with legions, got to be honest.
- 48:54Very. Legions.
- 48:57Cool, so let's get on to our next member.
- 49:01The Red Hellion, known simply as the Penitent 1, is a being of
- 49:04constant in a turmoil. No one knows who he originally
- 49:07was or what brought him to this current state as he's a being a
- 49:10very few words. When he accepted Mang's offer to
- 49:13join the Hellions, he simply said, this will help me repent.
- 49:17Mang didn't care why he joined though, he simply wanted a
- 49:20brutal warrior striding across the battlefield.
- 49:22The Penitent 1 is easily visible with his tall helmet and golden
- 49:25mask. Enemies rush towards him then
- 49:28see this, his giant sword covered in sharp wire and the
- 49:30blood of previous victims. But by then it's too late, and
- 49:33he cuts them down as they try to flee.
- 49:36This emotional warrior is one to be avoided.
- 49:41Nice, so this? Is this is based on a character
- 49:44called the Penitent One from a game series?
- 49:46There's a game that I've never played.
- 49:48OK. It's a, it's a really cool
- 49:51looking character sort of thing. So that's that's where the name
- 49:54came from. Yeah.
- 49:55So it's a kind of a, would you say, like almost like a wizard's
- 49:59hat shape without the kind of, you know, just just the cone
- 50:03part from the wizard's hat. Yes, just a recover.
- 50:05Doing barbed wire. Yeah, and he's got the metal
- 50:09face mask. Yeah, his sword is massive and
- 50:12it's got barbed wire basically wrapped all the way around it.
- 50:16To do some damage covered in blood.
- 50:18Yeah. And then we've got the torso
- 50:23that came with like a scarf piece as well.
- 50:25So just under the neck there's actually a separate scarf piece
- 50:28there that goes with it, and then the pauldron as well.
- 50:31So it's an entire set that Jason Rodriguez sculpted, and these
- 50:36were painted by Simon Crowe. And Simon's great because he'll
- 50:39come back to me. Jack will as well to degree, but
- 50:42Simon come back to me. Oh, but if we tweet this or if
- 50:44we do this slightly differently and that sort of stuff.
- 50:45So he did some brilliant work on the painting.
- 50:49Excellent. You got some, a lot, a lot of
- 50:52good reaction about this guy. I think I mean about them all,
- 50:56but I I saw a good few comments. But yeah, I mean, it's such a
- 50:59visual character. I think because some people
- 51:01recognized it from the game as well, sort of thing, and that
- 51:03drew a lot of attention as well. There's something about that
- 51:06head that may, you know, it makes it really uneasy.
- 51:10It's a funny one because I'm not really a squeamish person or
- 51:14anything like that. That head is just weird.
- 51:19Well, hope you sleep all right tonight.
- 51:23Oh yeah, I don't think I'll have nightmares.
- 51:24I'm not quite that bad. It's the sort of thing you can
- 51:28imagine in a horror film, just stalking you endlessly.
- 51:31It's like I'm getting away. I'm getting no, he's behind.
- 51:34Owner yeah, B And I can imagine in this game would be similar,
- 51:39right? You can say the name of this
- 51:40one. Rich.
- 51:42I'm not going to chance it. Quetzalcoatl, which is quite the
- 51:49mouthful. The game.
- 51:52Yeah, this isn't Well, this is based on a genuine.
- 51:55Thing, yeah. Mesoamerican.
- 51:58God, I don't know exactly which which race of people, but again,
- 52:04another Jason Rodriguez one. He's did quite a few of these
- 52:08with the fancy headdresses and that sort of stuff.
- 52:10And I've got them all, I think. Yeah, I've got all of them.
- 52:14But this one, I wanted to be part of the the red hellions.
- 52:17There's just something a bit different.
- 52:18And I wanted to do really bright.
- 52:20So obviously there's a lot of Reds and blacks with the
- 52:22hellions, but every now and again I really want to take a
- 52:24punch of color. So hence you got the Fed this
- 52:27sort of serpent hat, that or helmet that's blue with a white
- 52:32fangs gold adornment, and then you've got the green going into
- 52:36yellow feathers on the back as well.
- 52:37So just really stands out. Yeah, the pauldrons matching
- 52:41with the helmets. With a helmet, yes.
- 52:44Yeah. And the torso is came in with
- 52:46that same set as well sort of thing.
- 52:48So it's, and then I use one of Jeremy's Gerard's Acapora.
- 52:53So you call it Acapora weapons. So his turtles basically that he
- 52:58did. So it's like a big hooked
- 52:59weapon, which I thought was more but you know, looked more of
- 53:03like a foresty type traditional weapon that appeared like this
- 53:07might have. Looks like it could crack your
- 53:09skull or cut your head off. Oh, really?
- 53:11Yeah. And interestingly, this one was
- 53:14painted by our friend Joe Vasa Polo, where he did a little bit
- 53:18of painting for Wolf King at one point, and this was one of the
- 53:20things that he painted. So I got that.
- 53:25So the Dark One, as he is known to his fellow hellions, is
- 53:28anything but dark in appearance. Quetzalcoatl is a warrior from
- 53:33the dense rainforests in the South mythos.
- 53:35Almost nothing is known of these forests except adventures.
- 53:38Adventurers very rarely return from them.
- 53:41Adorned in bright colored armor and feathers.
- 53:44At first sight this being is any appears anything but violent.
- 53:47But he is a devil in disguise. He is, in fact, a man of pure
- 53:50hatred and violence. Kwetzak Kwattle grew up in a
- 53:54village with the most basic of amenities, and while others
- 53:57thrived in the calm and serene beauty of the forest, he always
- 54:00wanted more from life. He was a constant troublemaker
- 54:03throughout his childhood and was regularly threatened with
- 54:05expulsion to the treeless world. The final straw for his people
- 54:09came when they caught him trying to steal one of their mystical
- 54:11power stones, the source of their portal's powers.
- 54:15He was banished by the elders and sent through a portal to a
- 54:18barren rock on an island with no foliage.
- 54:21Living off fish and coconuts, he spent years plotting his revenge
- 54:24against the primitives he grew up with.
- 54:27One day a small fleet of ships came into view and upon seeing
- 54:30him on the shore, they moored nearby.
- 54:33Brought onto the flagship, he met Emperor Kang, Mang and
- 54:36Quetzer. Quatl immediately recognized a
- 54:39man with a similar thirst for power and love of fine things.
- 54:42He wasted no time a laying with him.
- 54:45When his work with Mang is done, he will return South and deal
- 54:48with his betrayers and take their power stones for himself.
- 54:53Nice SO. Yes, with power stones and the
- 54:58portals. That ties into another faction
- 55:00which I've not shown yet. Oh wow, A.
- 55:03Faction I call the maze text and they're based around that sort
- 55:06of thing. We're going to need a book at
- 55:08some stage. Yeah, so that's about 8 or 9
- 55:13characters. Nikki, Nicole did a lot of the
- 55:18painting of me on that. OK, It includes a couple of
- 55:20lizard men, obviously. Oh yeah, there may be a lizard
- 55:27type man in this action, we never know.
- 55:32Yeah, so I love this one. It's.
- 55:34Your friends want to put a. Blast.
- 55:36Our friend is the Wiz was very Israel Ramirez.
- 55:41He was very happy with this guy. Yes, I think he said something
- 55:44along the lines if he'd commissioned it or something
- 55:45from Jason. So oh.
- 55:46He'd the head, Yeah, and the. It was, it was very much some of
- 55:50his design inputs as well sort of thing.
- 55:53And he loved it. He put it up.
- 55:54There's a group common member of called I think Sons of might be
- 55:59quite to to coddle. Yeah, yeah, I'm, I think I'm in
- 56:02that one as well. And I'm in that one, yeah, so,
- 56:04he shared. It I don't contribute much, but
- 56:06I like this stuff, so you. Know like, like you, I don't
- 56:10tend to join it now there's some really good yeah, I mean.
- 56:15I don't owe much of it, but I do love it.
- 56:18I think he mentioned it on the episode he was on with us.
- 56:21Yeah, so that's how I found out about it.
- 56:24Yeah, there's one of the guys, I can't remember his name, so
- 56:26apologies, but he started doing a range of these or God being
- 56:33sort of thing. He's done 3 so far.
- 56:35He's posted absolutely superb. Yeah, you post them in the Cabal
- 56:39as well. And they're so, so good.
- 56:41Yeah. Yeah, they're amazing.
- 56:45OK Lynch Priest, I can say that name.
- 56:51Lord Skeleton. Sorry this is Skeleton looking
- 56:54dude. It is so.
- 56:55This is the undead priest that told Mang about mythos.
- 57:01So Lord Cromwell is a lich priest from a long time past.
- 57:05In life he was the power behind the throne of a lesser realm.
- 57:08When the commoners rose against Cromwell and his king, he was
- 57:10brutally murdered. That was not the end though, for
- 57:13this sinister power broker. Raised by a necromancer, he soon
- 57:17fled the Congregation of Necronominus and the Continent
- 57:20mythos in in search of a Kingdom where you'd once again exert
- 57:23power in the shadows. He found himself in the island
- 57:26Kingdom of Buchan and soon became the voice in the ear of
- 57:29its Prince. Whether this was through foul
- 57:32magic or the prince's desire for the throne is unknown.
- 57:35Whatever it was, the Prince soon came to power.
- 57:37After his father was poisoned by a mystery enemy, Cromwell drove
- 57:41the new king to more and more foul deeds in search of
- 57:44increased power. His loyalty to the king was not
- 57:47rewarded though, when the Queen took a distaste to him and the
- 57:50king exiled him as a result. When the island was later
- 57:53invaded by Mang and his army, Cromwell immediately joined with
- 57:56them to gain revenge. However, however, the invasion,
- 57:59like all of Mang's, failed. Cromwell, knowing he had nowhere
- 58:02safe to go in Buchan, whispered in Mang's ear of a far off land
- 58:06to the West called Mythos 1 of it of its fabulous wealth from
- 58:10vulnerable populace. Mang seized upon this hope and
- 58:13headed off with his remaining men to have another attempt at
- 58:16seizing power. So is this Is this named after
- 58:23the Cromwell, The British? Yes, that's that's where the
- 58:27name popped into my head immediately from sort of thing.
- 58:29So yeah, an evil piece of work. Yeah, he, he, he did damage in
- 58:35my my country as well. He did.
- 58:37He's yeah over there, isn't he? Yeah.
- 58:40Pretty much, yeah. Yeah, yes, yeah.
- 58:43It's ironic that he's supporting Princess in this because
- 58:45obviously in reality he overthrew the the British Royals
- 58:48and in the Civil War. But yes.
- 58:51So there's a set of pieces sculpted by Action Figure
- 58:57Fusion. There's some just awesome pieces
- 59:00there, lots of skeletal torsos. This cool head was like a
- 59:04Bishop's sort of hat on it. As soon as soon as I thought
- 59:08that was like, that's awesome. But I've got a really good
- 59:10Bishop in my congregation and economics already there's like I
- 59:13want that piece, but I need to put in a different faction.
- 59:16So what can I do with it? Hence it came through to this.
- 59:20He's a bad Bishop. He is indeed.
- 59:23And then it's mixed in with a few skeleton legion builder bone
- 59:26parts as well. So you can see some of those.
- 59:28I also took advantage of the fact that I use Betorians wrist
- 59:31armor and obviously some people have had problems with the left
- 59:34hand falling out of the Batorian figure.
- 59:37There was a bit of a scandal about it, so it fell off when I
- 59:39was posing it, so I just left it off.
- 59:41So he's missing his left hand as that's just a decayed part
- 59:44that's fallen off. Love it, I love it.
- 59:49And I didn't, I forgot to put it in the bit here actually, John,
- 59:53but it's also got a Cape from Max Bird.
- 59:56OK. Awesome cake with fur around the
- 1:00:00collar and then the red at the back sort of thing.
- 1:00:05Yeah, that's the usual thing of, you know, when people haven't
- 1:00:09accidentally damaged their figure or broken something and
- 1:00:13people just reply battle damage, which is the most frustrating
- 1:00:18reply to anyone that's upset that they've broken their
- 1:00:22figure. But yeah.
- 1:00:24Rot damage in this case, but yeah.
- 1:00:25Yes, it fits in very well. So tap into the mountain only.
- 1:00:33Only yes, so this, I absolutely adore this head.
- 1:00:36This is an Immortal collections head. 2 great guys.
- 1:00:41And they're they have a lot of good only scopes.
- 1:00:44They do loads, it's. One of their things, I think.
- 1:00:47Yeah, when I snuck into the the Friday night setup thing in
- 1:00:51Legions Gone a couple of years ago, I was chatting to them for
- 1:00:55ages, having never met them before.
- 1:00:56Two really nice guys. And then this piece was sat
- 1:00:58there and it's like, well, I'll come back and get one of those.
- 1:01:01That's just great. So my original plan was to use
- 1:01:04it as a vampire with that color scheme.
- 1:01:07A vampire only. But unusually for me, I just
- 1:01:09like to go a different route with it.
- 1:01:12So Tappan Sue, the only is a disciplined and brutal warrior
- 1:01:16who brings order to the sometimes chaotic band of
- 1:01:18hellions and mountain only as betrayed by his pale flesh.
- 1:01:23He was mocked when he first appeared in Lowland Mythos as a
- 1:01:25stupid and clumsy mountain dweller.
- 1:01:27Those that mocked him soon discovered to their cost that
- 1:01:30this warrior is anything but stupid and clumsy.
- 1:01:32Years of training with a mythical samurai of East mythos
- 1:01:35had made him a deadly warrior. He fights with a remarkable
- 1:01:38calmness and cold detachment from all others, including his
- 1:01:41fellow hellions. He has one goal in his life, to
- 1:01:44meticulously build on his martial prowess through measured
- 1:01:47and controlled combat. He learned from his sensei that
- 1:01:50patching in battle will get you killed, and that's a calm inner
- 1:01:53is all important, not inherently evil like some of the hellions.
- 1:01:57He is cruel simply through his attitude.
- 1:02:00He doesn't care for anyone, he just wants to measure himself
- 1:02:03against opponents. Emperor Mang uses this brilliant
- 1:02:06warrior often when enemy champions call to the Hellions
- 1:02:09to send one warrior for one-on-one combat lieu of a full
- 1:02:12on battle between the armies. Awesome buyout, yeah.
- 1:02:18And it's not crazy anymore, isn't it?
- 1:02:21There's a little bit of the sword and the sheath action
- 1:02:23going on there. There is indeed, yeah, although
- 1:02:26it's a it makes it more difficult for you to photograph
- 1:02:29because then you had to go wider angle.
- 1:02:31Have to go wide, yeah. Which is why you see the picture
- 1:02:33here is a little bit more square.
- 1:02:37He's very cool. He's cool though yeah love him
- 1:02:40and obviously the the perfect because Bruschotti armor works
- 1:02:46perfectly with this type of Asian inspired for.
- 1:02:49You. Absolutely.
- 1:02:50Style, isn't it? Yes, yes, it works.
- 1:02:53Also worked for for Mang sort of thing coming from the East as
- 1:02:57well sort of thing. So.
- 1:02:58So did you say the sword is the Marvel Legends?
- 1:03:01It's a Marvel Legends hand injure.
- 1:03:03I think. I could be wrong about that.
- 1:03:05It was in a bit spot, but I think that's where it's from.
- 1:03:07Yeah, all righty Well, shell the mighty.
- 1:03:14Yes. So obviously named after Denzel
- 1:03:17Washington, that's where. It comes from.
- 1:03:21I did not and. This was inspired by a similar
- 1:03:29figure that Giovanni Bly had, Allegiance Con 22, which I
- 1:03:34stupidly didn't buy the second I saw it, and then when I came
- 1:03:36back to his table it had already been bought.
- 1:03:40It's A the head just scalded by Thiago Conti and printed by
- 1:03:43mythic bits and again painted by Jack Mitchell.
- 1:03:46And you don't see the head very often.
- 1:03:48I think it's one of the earlier mythic bits, one sort of thing.
- 1:03:50So it's, but I got it painted up to match the Clavius torso, just
- 1:03:56again, it's a bit of different color.
- 1:03:58And then I'm not sure if you can sell properly.
- 1:04:01I think you can with a picture. She's got three swords as well.
- 1:04:03So he's got his sword he's holding in his right hand, and
- 1:04:05then there's two more, and his hands like, ready as if he's
- 1:04:08about to draw one of them as well sort of thing.
- 1:04:12One of the few humans in the Red Hellions, Washtel the Mighty is
- 1:04:16as proud of his fighting skills as he is of about the way he
- 1:04:19looks. He was always a bully growing up
- 1:04:21and still enjoys tormenting others.
- 1:04:23He veers from taking 1-2 or three of the enemy by himself to
- 1:04:27demonstrate his martial prowess, to wandering off in the battle
- 1:04:31to torture a defenceless villager.
- 1:04:33He has no morals, no empathy, no soul.
- 1:04:36He is the living embodiment of the sorts of scum Emperor Mang
- 1:04:39has recruited into the Red Hellions.
- 1:04:41And you've got a, you've got someone to play him in the movie
- 1:04:44as well, Denzel. Yes, apparently the head was
- 1:04:50sculpted on a character from another film who I can't
- 1:04:53remember off the top of my head now, but this drew a lot of
- 1:04:55traction from people with comments and that sort of thing
- 1:04:57because of that. OK, yeah, just get Denzel in a
- 1:05:02kind of a Gray and black wig, resorted.
- 1:05:05Who've we got next? Ah, now we're into Rich Jones
- 1:05:11territory. Loquisius the Destroyer calls
- 1:05:13himself a demigod from the far South of mythos.
- 1:05:16He follows the practices of an ancient, long lost culture.
- 1:05:19He has told many of the Red hellions that his millennia old,
- 1:05:23that he is millennia old and has risen from his slumber at the
- 1:05:26return of his great God. No one knows if any of this is
- 1:05:29true. What they do know is that he is
- 1:05:31a brutal and ruthless warrior mage.
- 1:05:33Crocodilians have long been respected as great warriors in
- 1:05:36Mythos, and this nightmare vision of 1 standing there with
- 1:05:39its gleaming gold helmet is a sight that puts fear and awe
- 1:05:43into the Hellion's enemies. His swords and fireballs
- 1:05:46dispatch death to all those whose path he crosses.
- 1:05:49Any souls lucky enough to escape death or being sold into slavery
- 1:05:52at the hands of the Hellions are told by Locasius that his great
- 1:05:55God has risen to cleanse Mythos. He speaks with no emotion when
- 1:06:00he tells them that their souls will be claimed along with all
- 1:06:02of those as his God's army sweeps across mythos from the
- 1:06:05South. Love that.
- 1:06:09I love the fireball. Is that from that guy the Chucky
- 1:06:13geek? Spot, yes, Yeah, it is indeed.
- 1:06:16And kind of recognize it. Yeah, I've been trying.
- 1:06:20To think what to do with that. Yeah, I've been trying to think
- 1:06:22what to do that for ages. And they're just like, actually,
- 1:06:24you know what this is? This is basically low key.
- 1:06:27Let's have some sort of magic effect to make him a mage.
- 1:06:30Yeah, he's very cool. So the head is another action
- 1:06:36figure fusion scope. Actually, figure fusion piece,
- 1:06:38Yeah. So again, it's one of these ones
- 1:06:39you don't see much now because it's, it's a intellectual
- 1:06:43property. Yeah.
- 1:06:45So that people tend to skip past it.
- 1:06:47But I've got it early enough that it wasn't a problem.
- 1:06:49Sort of. I bought this ages ago.
- 1:06:53Yeah, and another Jack Mitchell paint job.
- 1:06:56Yeah, and the feet randomly were sculpted, Well, not randomly,
- 1:07:00but they were sculpted by Zombie 13 and printed by my Action
- 1:07:02Bigger customs. And I had them painted by Drew
- 1:07:05the amazing Drew Grubbs. But ages ago, like 2 1/2, three
- 1:07:09years ago, we're a completely different character.
- 1:07:11And I've stripped that character down and got rid of him now.
- 1:07:13But the feet, the color of the feet match really, really well
- 1:07:16with with the head. So it's like, yeah, there we go.
- 1:07:19And they look, there's a crocodile in this.
- 1:07:21Yeah, they work. Really.
- 1:07:22Well, and even if they didn't match perfectly, they're far
- 1:07:25enough away that that it's close enough.
- 1:07:28Yes, and again, this ties in with another one of my factions
- 1:07:31when he talks about his great God having risen and sweeping up
- 1:07:34from the South. That's from my Swarm of Horus
- 1:07:37faction. That's their backs.
- 1:07:38Well, which involves lots of crocodilian warriors and that
- 1:07:41sort of stuff as well. More lizards, more lizards.
- 1:07:46Basically, it's a choir's a great name, not normal choir.
- 1:07:59No, just the way it's written. It makes me want to say it that
- 1:08:02way. That was the name that Seba gave
- 1:08:06it on Planetary dog Toys. That was the name of this.
- 1:08:08Oh, is that the name of? Literally just the name that's.
- 1:08:11Yeah, that's obviously. It's a head sculpted and printed
- 1:08:15by Planetary Dog Toys and painted by Jeremy Gerard It.
- 1:08:19Is I bought very nice. I bought the head and wings from
- 1:08:22Jeremy. The wings are from a toy vault
- 1:08:24Balrog figure it says. Not sure there, but Jeremy told
- 1:08:28me since where they're from and I bought them again, I bought
- 1:08:31them from ages and ages ago and couldn't decide the best way to
- 1:08:34use them. And then it's like, you know
- 1:08:36what, it's actually going to fit in really well here.
- 1:08:38And then the sword has got like a dragon head on there, the hilt
- 1:08:42as well, sort of opening up and the blades coming out of there.
- 1:08:45So that's Jason Rodriguez piece painted by Zemo from Prom
- 1:08:48Masters. The Dragon King of Mythos are
- 1:08:53some of the continent's most ancient races.
- 1:08:55Not originally from there. They settled millennia ago, but
- 1:08:58have usually kept themselves to themselves.
- 1:09:01Generally a noble race, they have fought side by side with
- 1:09:03the Forces of Light many times. However, not all Dragon Kin are
- 1:09:07the same. Kwar is one of the red Hellion
- 1:09:10shock weapons, swooping down on the enemy before they even know
- 1:09:13they're in a battle. He is utterly ruthless and
- 1:09:15thrives on the terror he brings. He's renowned for ripping off
- 1:09:19limbs of soldiers in a sudden aerial attack and then showering
- 1:09:22them down on top of their comrade comrades.
- 1:09:25It's not just aerial combat he brings though.
- 1:09:27He's equally happy engaging in hand to hand combat with his
- 1:09:31sword. Death from above.
- 1:09:33A vital member of the Hellions Mang pays him better than most
- 1:09:36of the others because of this. The mang's sake.
- 1:09:38He better hope Kwa never tells anyone that.
- 1:09:43No, no talk of wages in the dressing room.
- 1:09:46No exactly, you don't want to be saying I'm only 400 grand a week
- 1:09:49and smells like I'm on 20. What the hell are you talking
- 1:09:51about? 20 is still good.
- 1:09:54Oh, I take it. I wouldn't complain.
- 1:09:55That's all money. Exactly.
- 1:09:58Very cool. I love it.
- 1:09:59And I love the sword as well. I know you mentioned it's a
- 1:10:03Jason Rodriguez, but I haven't seen that one before.
- 1:10:07Yeah, and at this point, John, I decided to just cut the end of
- 1:10:09the sword off. Yeah.
- 1:10:11The pictures getting too wide otherwise.
- 1:10:13I mean, you got the main part of it that's unique.
- 1:10:16I guess the end of it's just pointy.
- 1:10:17So right, Sideshow freak. I love this.
- 1:10:26Yeah, this is a prop masters sculpt.
- 1:10:30The torso. Oh, you know, the torso's got
- 1:10:32the braces. It's a crazy sort of orc with a
- 1:10:35top knot. It's it's basically the Krusty
- 1:10:40the Clown look alike from The Simpsons I think, but in orc
- 1:10:43psycho form. So the Sideshow Freak, as he is
- 1:10:48known to his comrades, is a deranged orc with an insatiable
- 1:10:51bloodlust. Once a juggler, Acrobat and
- 1:10:54family favorites at famous travelling circus, this creature
- 1:10:57now kills for fun. No one knows what turned this
- 1:11:00once respected performer into a homicidal lunatic, but what it
- 1:11:03was must have been horrific. Now armed with a mighty cleaver,
- 1:11:07he butchers his way across the battlefield with Abandoned,
- 1:11:10laughing maniacly as he slaughters his foes.
- 1:11:12Even his fellow Red Hellions give him a wide berth as they
- 1:11:15fear is as likely to kill them as anyone else with his as his
- 1:11:18wants his bloodless takes. And that mighty cleaver is the
- 1:11:23My wife is going to kill me Cleaver.
- 1:11:25It is indeed the idea from Pete and Steven Bisciotti.
- 1:11:29I've got quite a few of them. It's great looking Cleaver.
- 1:11:31And this particular one was painted by Dustin Yoke.
- 1:11:35We don't see that much in the community anymore, but he's a
- 1:11:37very good painter and he did this one is.
- 1:11:38His own YouTube channel, yeah. Thunder Nerd.
- 1:11:43Someone say Geek Man and the Thunder Nerds or something like
- 1:11:46that. They do a lot of pop culture
- 1:11:49stuff. So if you like us, you'd
- 1:11:50probably like them, right? Prince Darian the Undead.
- 1:11:59So we've got some undeads in here as well.
- 1:12:02Of course it's me. And this is a Von Box head, so
- 1:12:08this is a head that people mightn't be that familiar with.
- 1:12:11No. So very quickly, the Von Box is
- 1:12:14a monthly subscription that Bomberg Customs offer.
- 1:12:18It's Brian Burke and Emil Whitman, and they do one head
- 1:12:21each each month on a theme. Mal's now fully on board with
- 1:12:24this on e-mail. It's a it's a great program.
- 1:12:28Yeah. It's one of those, I can't say
- 1:12:33that all the sculpts are to my liking, but they make, I want to
- 1:12:37paint them up and, you know, and practice all my painting and do
- 1:12:41some cool stuff with them. And yeah, then you get some that
- 1:12:47are just incredible. But, you know, I mean, they're
- 1:12:50all fantastic. But you know, some that really
- 1:12:53hit the spot for me that I'm just like, wow, yeah, great.
- 1:12:58And this was one of the very first ones because I was buying
- 1:13:01the painted ones at that point. So Brian Burke painted this one
- 1:13:05up as well. And it's just, it's just a
- 1:13:06really cool sculpt. You know, a couple of horns, a
- 1:13:09little bit of hair falling away and just the zombie features.
- 1:13:11It's it's really good. And again, I've been waiting 2
- 1:13:151/2 years to find the right body and place to put this.
- 1:13:20So I thought, yeah, you know, an Undeadler woodland creature.
- 1:13:24There we go. In life, Lord Darian Silverleaf
- 1:13:28was an elven noble renowned for his valor and courage.
- 1:13:31A benevolent ruler, he was beloved by his people and valued
- 1:13:34as an important and wise member of the ruling council of
- 1:13:37Zyloner's flock. Although a reluctant warrior,
- 1:13:40his deeds on the battlefield were legendary and he never took
- 1:13:43us backward step. His courage and resolve were put
- 1:13:46to their greatest test in a period known as the Vampire
- 1:13:49Incursions. Over several months, the
- 1:13:51Vampires of the White Spine launched relentless raids into
- 1:13:54the forests of Zylonia. His lands close to Whisper Vale
- 1:13:58bore the brunt of these attacks, and eventually his forces were
- 1:14:01overwhelmed. In a valiant last stand, Lord
- 1:14:04Darian and ten of his personal guard held the keep, allowing
- 1:14:08the remaining residents and soldiers to escape to Whisper
- 1:14:10Vale itself. These actions saved many lives,
- 1:14:13but cost Lord Darian and his own.
- 1:14:16He and his guard were honored among the various elfdoms as
- 1:14:18true heroes, but little did they know that Lord Darian had in
- 1:14:22fact been captured by the vampires rather than killed.
- 1:14:25Subjected to various horrific experiments by vampire mages,
- 1:14:29this once noble elf became a twisted mockery of a being.
- 1:14:32Eventually released by the vampires, this now undead
- 1:14:35monstrosity wandered the edges of Xylonia, looking for sentient
- 1:14:39creatures to kill and eat. He found his way to the camp of
- 1:14:42the Red Hellions, and Mang immediately recognized the fear
- 1:14:46this undead monster would instill in his enemies.
- 1:14:48Known as Darian the Undead, he is now an important member of
- 1:14:53the Red Hellions. Very cool, such a like such a
- 1:15:01detailed back story for him there.
- 1:15:03I almost feel invested in his kind of thing now and so sad
- 1:15:07that. So sad.
- 1:15:08He's a heartbreaker, isn't it? He's like this reluctant hero,
- 1:15:11and then he turned into this monster.
- 1:15:14Yeah, and this awesome big sword with the kind of green effect on
- 1:15:18it, You got that from Dennis. I did Dennis, God bless his soul
- 1:15:22is. A wonderful day being.
- 1:15:25And I asked him a couple of years ago now if he'd paint some
- 1:15:29pieces for me. There was, I think there's some
- 1:15:32action for you figure fusion pieces.
- 1:15:34And his response was no, those pieces of crap.
- 1:15:37And I was like, oh, that's fine, no problem at all.
- 1:15:40Dennis is honest though, you know.
- 1:15:42Dennis is very honest, yeah. Yeah, to a farm and.
- 1:15:46Then it's my birthday a couple of days later and he messaged me
- 1:15:49going happy birthday. And then a couple of weeks after
- 1:15:51that a figure, a fully painted custom figure arrived through
- 1:15:54the post wish me a happy birthday.
- 1:15:57And it was a goblin in patina with patina armor got in my
- 1:16:01display. It's absolutely amazing.
- 1:16:04And it came with this sword. And to be honest, this sword is
- 1:16:06I think just a little bit too big for the goblins.
- 1:16:08So I was looking for something else to put it with.
- 1:16:10And this one, it's got that sort of ether all sort of feel to it,
- 1:16:14but it also look gives that foresty greens of look as well.
- 1:16:18So I thought it worked well with his with his character.
- 1:16:22Yeah. And I turned the I turned the
- 1:16:25cloak into a skirt piece as well with this one, just to give it a
- 1:16:28slightly. Different good idea.
- 1:16:30And it you could also get the put kind of Pox's vibe off the
- 1:16:33sword as well. You know the kind of.
- 1:16:36The. Used kind of undead, dead, you
- 1:16:39know, whatever. If you get out this poison on
- 1:16:42this sword and if you get a whack of it, you're going to
- 1:16:44turn into a zombie. Undead, yeah.
- 1:16:48Yeah, no, I had a lot of fun writing the back story for that
- 1:16:50One for All. I love doing the bio as much as
- 1:16:52the figures. But I love the did like that.
- 1:16:55You get me to really like the original character and then I
- 1:16:58see this like being in front of me and I'm like, oh, how can
- 1:17:03that be the same guy? Right, this OK, I meant to say
- 1:17:11this before, but I was going to say which is my favorite and
- 1:17:15this is my favorite looking custom.
- 1:17:19Maybe the previous guy was the BIOS, maybe my favorite, but
- 1:17:23this is the look at this guy is amazing.
- 1:17:27Yeah, the case. This is one of my favourites.
- 1:17:31This is a combination of bits that I had for two different
- 1:17:33figures originally. So the the head and the sword
- 1:17:37were going to be used for one particular figure and then the
- 1:17:42the shield and the torso for a different figure.
- 1:17:44And they're going to be corrupted.
- 1:17:45Templars was the original plan. But rather than that, it's like,
- 1:17:48you know what, the red and black, they're going to fit in
- 1:17:51really well with the hellions. Here we go.
- 1:17:55And obviously that, you know, the design screams Chaos
- 1:17:58Warhammer sort of thing. You know, that was obviously the
- 1:18:00inspiration. Heavy metal as a figure.
- 1:18:02It is, yeah. Yeah.
- 1:18:05And I wanted to give it so if you can just about see one of
- 1:18:07the hooves poking out there, but it's got hooves as well sort of
- 1:18:10thing to give it that real sort of beast, chaos beast man type
- 1:18:14field to as well from the Warhammer realm.
- 1:18:20Despite the general assumption that the northern lands of
- 1:18:22mythos are nothing but a snowy and icy wasteland, they in fact
- 1:18:25have several distinct areas within them that many many of
- 1:18:29which are snow free. One of these areas is avoided by
- 1:18:32all who know of his existence and is called the Chaos Wastes.
- 1:18:35Almost no one who has ventured into these wastes has returned
- 1:18:38sane. Almost all wake at night
- 1:18:40screaming of demons, terrifying rituals, and foul ancient gods.
- 1:18:45They talk in hushed, garbled tones of mighty warriors clad in
- 1:18:48heavy armor and brandishing the symbols of their demon gods.
- 1:18:52They talk of human sacrifices and blood lust, of foul magic
- 1:18:55swirling constantly in the air, and an upcoming apocalyptic
- 1:19:00invasion. Those in the South believe these
- 1:19:02stories to be nothing more than horror stories and nonsense.
- 1:19:06Those on the East Coast though, have encountered one of these
- 1:19:08Chaos Warriors. The Bringer of Chaos, as he
- 1:19:11calls himself, is a massively imposing being, cladding heavy
- 1:19:14armor with red skin and clawed nails.
- 1:19:18His helmet bears the marks of his demon God and his sword as a
- 1:19:21twisted weapon designed to inflict death and inspire fear.
- 1:19:25His God sent him S upon hearing of the Red Hellions, believing
- 1:19:28them to be possible future recruits.
- 1:19:31Mang, though, believes this warrior simply joined the
- 1:19:33Hellions to gain wealth and kill.
- 1:19:35Little does he know the Brutal warrior has other, even Fowler,
- 1:19:38plans for the Hellions. So tell us about the parrots
- 1:19:44here. Yeah, so they actually figure
- 1:19:48Fusion designed. I think they're all part of the
- 1:19:52same set, but the torso might be part of a different set.
- 1:19:54Originally they're painted by a guy called Dan Drews who did
- 1:19:58some painting for me a couple of years ago now.
- 1:20:01No. He's sort of disappeared off the
- 1:20:04scene there. You get some painters that do
- 1:20:07that they, you know, sort of come in for a little bit and
- 1:20:09then just, you know, go their own way.
- 1:20:11A shield is painted by by Zima from prop masters again sort of
- 1:20:17thing, But it's it's got the real Warhammer feel.
- 1:20:19I mean that sword is just wicked and horrible.
- 1:20:21It's got spikes all over it. It's massive.
- 1:20:25It's, you know, the shield itself with a, you know, the,
- 1:20:30the sort of skull emblem and that sort of thing.
- 1:20:33And then the helmet. Now the helmet actually is
- 1:20:34slightly broken. So when it was first done, if
- 1:20:37you see this the points at the top of it, it should be another
- 1:20:41one pointing up the opposite direction, which is.
- 1:20:45The top left. Yes.
- 1:20:47Because I was wondering if that I wonder, I was wondering if
- 1:20:50that that was intentional. Yes, I was, oh, a while back
- 1:20:54now, I was taking off the original figure and foolishly
- 1:20:57that proper hold of it, and it pinged off and landed on the
- 1:20:59floor and that bit came off and I've not been able to find that
- 1:21:03bit. So it's somewhere in that room.
- 1:21:06But I actually quite like this. I think it gives it, I think, a
- 1:21:09little bit of asymmetrical sort of feel.
- 1:21:11Yeah. Yeah, this is a This figure
- 1:21:18looks like it's going to be dangerous just to pick up to put
- 1:21:21on the shelf because you might stab yourself.
- 1:21:24Yes, you can definitely get stabbed by this one.
- 1:21:27I tried with a bio to blend into like the Warhammer thing too.
- 1:21:30So you know, apocalyptic invasion from the north, which
- 1:21:32is very much the Warhammer thing that the chaos wastes, the
- 1:21:36language around swirling magic and all that sort of stuff, but
- 1:21:40put it into myth or setting. So really happy how this one
- 1:21:42came out. Right RAM.
- 1:21:45That's what it says RAM in. He's one of the more boring
- 1:21:48ones, I'm afraid, but I do like him.
- 1:21:49It's, it's the head sculpt that really sold this for me.
- 1:21:51It's it's a really great head sculpt by Stephen and Emil again
- 1:21:58Wolfgang Customs and then painted by Simon Crowe.
- 1:22:02It's probably like a little beast man sort of feel to me.
- 1:22:07Ram, as he is known to the other red Hellions, is a Remorian, a
- 1:22:11wicked race from the far north of Mythos.
- 1:22:13Like the rest of his kin he is evil by nature and he enjoys
- 1:22:16nothing more than torture and murder.
- 1:22:19Pale skinned due to the climate they live in, these creatures
- 1:22:22enjoy the fear in their enemies faces when they see the white
- 1:22:25skin with blood splattered all over it.
- 1:22:27He is the perfect fit for Mang's army and is one of his most
- 1:22:30brutal members. So was he going to be a vampire
- 1:22:35ram before? No, I just I sort of game Simon
- 1:22:39sort of free reign and just said, you know, do whatever you
- 1:22:42like with this one and he just came out the really cool color
- 1:22:44scheme. So at that point is it's not a
- 1:22:47vampire and that's fine. What can I do that would fit in
- 1:22:50with like a pale skin and that sort of thing?
- 1:22:52And it's a real contrast, obviously, to the rest of the
- 1:22:54body. Yeah, and the other thing to
- 1:22:57note here is he's got the Vorthog hammer, just probably
- 1:23:00the best paint job on that hammer because there's a lot of
- 1:23:03weathering. Yeah.
- 1:23:06And again, the weathering sort of ties in with the Pretoria New
- 1:23:09Wit figure, which has got some weathering on some parts of that
- 1:23:12as well, so. Right, another very cool looking
- 1:23:17dude here. Yes, this, this.
- 1:23:21I love this head sculpt. I think it's one of my favorite
- 1:23:23head sculpts that any 3D print party have done.
- 1:23:27It's sculpted by Jing Gianluca. Again, I won't do the surname
- 1:23:31John. I'll leave that to you.
- 1:23:34From Wolfking Customs and painted by Jack Mitchell.
- 1:23:38The weapon is an actually figure Fusion 1 and painted by Brian C
- 1:23:42again. Yeah, Brian C It's from a figure
- 1:23:46that I bought from Brian age. I mean, I bought a lot of stuff
- 1:23:48for Brian since then, but this one of the very first things I
- 1:23:50bought from him and it's got sort of crosses on.
- 1:23:53You can't see it that well. It's got sort of crosses on the
- 1:23:55the Mace head, which I thought was quite good for an evil
- 1:23:57warrior to have that sort of, you know, look what I've taken
- 1:24:00off somebody I killed. And describe the helmet there.
- 1:24:04So the helmet is it's, it's amazing.
- 1:24:10It's. It's you can't see much of the
- 1:24:13face. You can see the eyes and you can
- 1:24:14there's like a slip that from the nose downwards so you can
- 1:24:18see what sort of creatures underneath the helmet.
- 1:24:19And then it's got very long sort of chin guard as it were sort of
- 1:24:24thing. But we're then like Rams horns
- 1:24:26coming out the side of it, real evil.
- 1:24:29And what, what sort of, yeah, what's the skin colour is
- 1:24:33supposed to suggest is underneath there?
- 1:24:36Again, I wasn't looking for anything in particular.
- 1:24:38It was a case of go crazy with this.
- 1:24:42I didn't want green. I didn't want it to be.
- 1:24:44I think it's designed primarily to be an orc.
- 1:24:46Got you. But I didn't want green, I
- 1:24:48didn't want a green orc. I didn't want a purple orc.
- 1:24:50I didn't want a red orc. So it's like, you know, just
- 1:24:52make it any sort of creature you like.
- 1:24:54So that's the thing called decay to me.
- 1:24:57Yeah, so in my bio, which we'll read in a minute, it's an
- 1:25:02awkward It's possessed by something which has changed its
- 1:25:04skin color. Love it.
- 1:25:09Abraxas is the chief enforcer of the Red Hellions.
- 1:25:13An orc possessed by a demon. He burns with hatred for
- 1:25:15everything. His uncontrollable rage makes
- 1:25:18him a mighty and feared weapon for Mang.
- 1:25:21His huge helmet hides the slowly decaying face of the York that
- 1:25:24now plays host to Abraxas. This demon is an ancient being
- 1:25:28which has stalked the lands of the land for many centuries.
- 1:25:32It takes control of a host body, consumes it and then moves to
- 1:25:35the next body. After wandering for so long,
- 1:25:37Abraxas to his surprise has finally found a 'cause he deems
- 1:25:41worthy of staying in one place for the depravity and
- 1:25:45destruction brought down by the Red Hellions.
- 1:25:47He will stay with his this band of evil until the York host
- 1:25:50dies. Who knows though, he may just
- 1:25:53move to another member as he's really enjoying this malevolent
- 1:25:56work and life. Oh, that's scary.
- 1:26:00So it's a really nasty demon that's getting a kick out of all
- 1:26:02this. Yeah.
- 1:26:04And you've gone for the asymmetric polter and I just
- 1:26:07realized now. Yes, that was as much to do with
- 1:26:11the horns as anything else, but yes I think he actually works
- 1:26:16really well. It's protecting his non weapon
- 1:26:18arm. Then he can batch the living
- 1:26:21shite out people with the the other income.
- 1:26:25Badam last but not least, then. One time has flown.
- 1:26:31Yeah, you're doing well. You're doing well.
- 1:26:34You haven't lost your voice yet. Not quite.
- 1:26:39So this one wasn't part of the original Red Hellions, which
- 1:26:44means I probably didn't have to buy another Shotti at some point
- 1:26:47to make the last couple of character.
- 1:26:50But I got this head from from Zemo at prom Masters a while
- 1:26:53back. But I had I couldn't think of
- 1:26:55something, something good to do with it.
- 1:26:56And I thought, you know what, color wise, it's got an Eastern
- 1:26:59vibe to it. It's a full, full face helmet
- 1:27:02with a bit of chainmail underneath and like a red sort
- 1:27:06of plume thing coming out the back.
- 1:27:08It's like it's got an Eastern vibe.
- 1:27:09It'll actually fits in with the Red hellions and you know,
- 1:27:13coming over from the east of Mythos, Emperor Mang's personal
- 1:27:18Imperial guards are one of a species unknown to anyone but
- 1:27:21Mang himself. All anyone knows is that these
- 1:27:24red skinned guards are immensely brutal warriors who have
- 1:27:27threatened leave no one alive. Mang though, knows they are fire
- 1:27:31demons from the volcano surrounding his homeland.
- 1:27:34These beasts once terrorized the island home of Mang's family and
- 1:27:38were feared by all as Raiders of the night when they attacked the
- 1:27:42demons. When they attacked, the demons
- 1:27:44left no survivors and their very touch set objects alight.
- 1:27:48They thought themselves unbeatable, but this arrogance
- 1:27:50was their downfall. Unwilling to put up with their
- 1:27:53raiding any longer, Mang's great great grandfather enlisted the
- 1:27:56services of Water Gin, the lost lands of East of the East Seas.
- 1:28:02These jinns with their blue skin and power divining tattoos were
- 1:28:05more than a match for the fire demons and laid waste to the
- 1:28:08volcanoes and the demons that called them home.
- 1:28:11In an act of utter desperation, the demon leader traveled alone
- 1:28:14to see the king and begged for his family's lives to be spared.
- 1:28:18He swore that if they were allowed to live, he and his
- 1:28:20sons, along with their descendants forever more, would
- 1:28:23serve the kings of the island faithfully as guards.
- 1:28:26Ever since then, these demon guards have served Mang's family
- 1:28:30with unwavering loyalty. Loyalty out of fear of the Water
- 1:28:33Jinn's return, but loyalty nonetheless.
- 1:28:38Well, you've managed to put a pretty good back story on a
- 1:28:43basically a Legion builder. Or yes, I've also tied it into
- 1:28:47another custom I have so I've got a water gin custom.
- 1:28:51So is he I've built another custom faction or?
- 1:28:55Yes, so it ties into to a custom.
- 1:28:58I've actually got the water gin myself, so mine's a link the two
- 1:29:03there. And when it talks about the
- 1:29:04water Gin, their bodies having the tattoos to divine the power,
- 1:29:08that's because I use the Zazar base body for that.
- 1:29:10So it's got the black stripes and that sort of thing on it.
- 1:29:12So Imagine is part of a faction called the Resistance, which
- 1:29:17will say very, very unusual factions, lots of very different
- 1:29:21things in it. There's rock men, there's
- 1:29:23crocodilians, there's a funky folk, there's all sorts of
- 1:29:28things. So yeah, that will be quite the
- 1:29:30one to behold when I finally get that photographed and upon
- 1:29:33display. Well, looking forward to that
- 1:29:36and cloak made by me. Can you expand on that?
- 1:29:39Yes, it was literally I went through a period a while back.
- 1:29:43Now I've still got loads of cloth where I just ordered lots
- 1:29:46of different colour cloth, did a Templar cloak template and just
- 1:29:50like cutting them out. So I've got a couple of ones
- 1:29:53where I've made Templar ones. I've got a Templar Sergeant
- 1:29:57who's oversized, so I've made the black robes and then a Red
- 1:30:02Cross sort of thing on it. So I was just in a bit of a
- 1:30:05haberdashery, whatever it's called mode.
- 1:30:08So this is one of the things from that say it's nothing
- 1:30:11fancy, but it's, yeah, it's cheap as chips and it works
- 1:30:14well. Very good.
- 1:30:16Well also, because I had a few more minutes today, I did this
- 1:30:21for you. There they are.
- 1:30:24So I've taken all your pictures and put them into a group photo
- 1:30:29because that would be pretty tough to do in person.
- 1:30:32Oh, I love that, John. Yeah, so there you go.
- 1:30:35So. Those things done properly as
- 1:30:36opposed to me cropping stuff and trying to paste in oh.
- 1:30:39Yeah, there's like the guys in the back are behind the guys in
- 1:30:42the front. Yeah, yeah, Mang is out the
- 1:30:44front, you know, given orders. That's absolutely awesome.
- 1:30:49Yeah, thank you. There you go.
- 1:30:50So there's the red hellion. So pretty cool.
- 1:30:54And I like everything. They're great going through
- 1:30:58them, but when you see them as a group, it just brings it home to
- 1:31:01you. Yeah, and there's there's 15
- 1:31:04down and there's another three that I've got the BIOS for, got
- 1:31:08the bills ready, I just need to put together.
- 1:31:11So there's there's a werewolf, there's a gladiator, there's a
- 1:31:15mummy still to appear. Excellent.
- 1:31:19So there you go. I think that's a that's your lot
- 1:31:22for this week from us, I think so let's see what next week
- 1:31:29brings. I guess just one more thing to
- 1:31:32say. We've got a hint that the figure
- 1:31:35obscure is possibly going to be the ladies ladies logo.
- 1:31:39So watch out for that. They have a new logo, the
- 1:31:43legions ladies, so could possibly be a 2.0 figure.
- 1:31:49So your favorite Rich I'll. Save you money.
- 1:31:54Until he sees it, and when he'll buy it anyway.
- 1:31:56Until I sees it and buy 8 of them, yeah.
- 1:32:00I want the umbrella it comes with.
- 1:32:03Well, very cool and cool. So Nate Burch did the art.
- 1:32:06So I guess that wouldn't be a surprise if it did turn out that
- 1:32:10way. So there you go.
- 1:32:12So rich you get your voice back. Have a beer or something?
- 1:32:18Thank you. Yes, I will.
- 1:32:19I'll go and stroke my new pussies and have a beer now that
- 1:32:23we've got cats. Just to clear that up,
- 1:32:25everybody. Stay safe out there everybody.
- 1:32:38Sorry, yes, as soon as you laugh in to say that.
- 1:32:54So have have they got waffles for me yet Not.
- 1:32:58Yet, no, no, I'm afraid. I'm afraid he's still alive and
- 1:33:01kicking. Because, you know, you know,
- 1:33:04that whole story you gave last week about the cats and the
- 1:33:07neighbors and the House of the, this is just me, you know,
- 1:33:11sending secret agents over to get out waffles.
- 1:33:16That's what it's about, Yeah. Don't be surprised.
- 1:33:21They've seen him. Yeah, it's, it was so funny when
- 1:33:23Milo spotted him. She's and she's like, what the
- 1:33:26hell is that? Yeah, well, they've, they've
- 1:33:28marked his cards, so you know, yeah, they're going to get him.
- 1:33:31Lunch. Well, once we've tied their
- 1:33:33Polly's mess in the living room here, then they'll be in the
- 1:33:35living room soon as well. So then they can see the fish
- 1:33:38tanks and then they can be like what the hell are?
- 1:33:39Those more lunch.
