- 0:53Speaker 2: to know why, you'll have to ask him. That's That's
- 0:56Speaker 2: all I'll say. Uh, It's not often Bary White comes
- 0:59Speaker 2: up in everyday, you know, conversation, but he did today
- 1:04Speaker 2: and we had to play that song. And if Ali
- 1:09Speaker 2: McBeal comes to mind, even better, So there you go.
- 1:14Speaker 2: You google that later, Caleb find out what the heck
- 1:17Speaker 2: I'm talking about? All Right, We're gonna hear from Mike
- 1:20Speaker 2: Elko coming up, We're gonna hear from the great Steve
- 1:24Speaker 2: Sarkesian coming up, and we have the writer's round Table,
- 1:29Speaker 2: and just a little heads up, Rusty Berson has been
- 1:35Speaker 2: watching too much Ranger baseball.
- 1:38Speaker 4: He is on the.
- 1:38Speaker 2: IL today and Alex Miller of The Eagle is going
- 1:43Speaker 2: to take his place with Robert Sest on the writer's
- 1:46Speaker 2: round table coming up here in about an hour. Tomorrow,
- 1:51Speaker 2: the SEC will announce football opponents for the next four years.
- 1:58Speaker 2: But Chris Lowe of On three Sports jumped the gun today,
- 2:04Speaker 2: and we know that A and M's permanent quote teams
- 2:09Speaker 2: for at least four years.
- 2:13Speaker 4: Are Texas.
- 2:17Speaker 2: LSU and the last is obvious Missouri. Even Mike Elko,
- 2:26Speaker 2: who will hear from in a minute, Googues. I don't
- 2:28Speaker 2: know what who chose that, but in fairness, not everybody
- 2:34Speaker 2: can have Kentucky, as you know, a permanent rival. So
- 2:43Speaker 2: there you go again, six o'clock tomorrow, they'll they'll be
- 2:49Speaker 2: a huge presentation, as only the SEC can do. But
- 2:54Speaker 2: those leaked out today. The kickoff time from Mississippi State
- 3:00Speaker 2: next Saturday will be at six thirty on the SEC Network.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Coach elcoch telling reporters today that Bryce Anderson Scooby Williams
- 3:11Speaker 2: won't be playing this week against who are they playing? Yeah, Auburn,
- 3:19Speaker 2: but Reuben Fathery is getting closer to playing.
- 3:23Speaker 4: According to Elco, A and M wants to sell more swag, so.
- 3:30Speaker 2: The Florida game on October eleventh, they will honor the
- 3:33Speaker 2: nineteen seventy five Southwest Conference co championship team by wearing
- 3:40Speaker 2: specially designed throwback unis from Adidas.
- 3:47Speaker 4: And I know you find this.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Hard to believe, but you can go online right now
- 3:54Speaker 2: and start buying some of that swag from nineteen seventy five.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy says he's got no interest
- 4:06Speaker 2: in this being his last year in Stillwater. One hundred
- 4:11Speaker 2: percent said Gundy. Was asked if he intended to remain
- 4:14Speaker 2: here this season and beyond, He addressed what he called
- 4:19Speaker 2: fair questions over his future. Three days after Oklahoma State
- 4:24Speaker 2: fell to one and two and lost to Tulsa. They
- 4:27Speaker 2: haven't won a Division One game dating back to last year.
- 4:34Speaker 2: They've lost twelve straight, but Gundhy did praise the crowd
- 4:39Speaker 2: of forty eighty eight hundred, which is I think about
- 4:42Speaker 2: ten thousand less than capacity. They play Baylor coming up
- 4:51Speaker 2: this week, said Gundy. I'm under contract here for I
- 4:57Speaker 2: think three and a half years when I was hired
- 4:59Speaker 2: here to take this job. Ever since that day, I
- 5:01Speaker 2: put my heart and soul into it. I will continue
- 5:04Speaker 2: to do that until at some point if I say
- 5:06Speaker 2: I don't want to do it anymore, or somebody else
- 5:09Speaker 2: says we don't want you to do it. Central Florida
- 5:13Speaker 2: offensive line coach Sean Clark has died at the age
- 5:16Speaker 2: of fifty last night at a local hospital. He was
- 5:20Speaker 2: admitted September ninth due to a medical emergency. Clark joined
- 5:25Speaker 2: UCF after spending five years as head coach of Appalachian State.
- 5:32Speaker 2: The ACC has fined Syracuse twenty five GERR and put
- 5:37Speaker 2: them on double secret probation for faking injuries in the
- 5:42Speaker 2: win over Clemson Saturday, calling their actions unethical and contrary
- 5:49Speaker 2: to the spirit of the rules. Clemson quarterback kde Klubnik
- 5:54Speaker 2: accused Syracuse of faking injuries, saying we were playing with
- 5:58Speaker 2: tempo props to them. They stopped us on some third
- 6:01Speaker 2: downs and then they have an injury or something like
- 6:05Speaker 2: that when we really got going. Bruce Pearl is resigning
- 6:11Speaker 2: as head basketball coach at Auburn, will move into an
- 6:16Speaker 2: ambassador's role and a special assistant to the AD. His son,
- 6:23Speaker 2: Steven will take over the sixty five year olds, coming
- 6:27Speaker 2: off a season in which he guided Auburn to its
- 6:31Speaker 2: second ever final four appearance six NCAA tournaments, two final fours.
- 6:38Speaker 2: During Pearl's run, there had been speculation he was going
- 6:44Speaker 2: to run for senate. He says, at least right now,
- 6:48Speaker 2: my words, right now, that's not so. The Big Dumper
- 6:54Speaker 2: did it again last night, hit another home run against
- 6:59Speaker 2: the design Stros.
- 7:02Speaker 4: As Seattle won.
- 7:06Speaker 2: For the fourteenth time in their last fifteen games. They
- 7:10Speaker 2: are three games ahead of the Astros in the AL West.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Teams are off today. It could be worse, Astro fans.
- 7:21Speaker 2: You could be the Detroit Tigers, who had a fourteen
- 7:26Speaker 2: game lead July eighth, an eleven and a half game
- 7:31Speaker 2: lead August twenty third, a ten game lead September third.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Now their lead over Cleveland is one game, one game.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Yankees are the number one wild card team, Red Sox
- 7:57Speaker 2: are the number two wild card team. The Guardians by
- 8:03Speaker 2: virtue of a tie tiebreaker over the Astros are the
- 8:08Speaker 2: final AL wild card team. If the season ended today
- 8:14Speaker 2: and it doesn't, Blue Jays and Mariners would get buys.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Tigers would play the Guardians. The Yankees would play the
- 8:23Speaker 2: Red Sox. The Astros begin a series in Sacramento against
- 8:31Speaker 2: the Sacramento As tomorrow night and finish with the Los
- 8:37Speaker 2: Angeles Angels of Anaheim over the weekend.
- 8:44Speaker 1: See you next year, TC Bangers.
- 8:46Speaker 2: We'll take a break. We're going to come back. We're
- 8:51Speaker 2: going to hear from Mike Elko tomorrow. We have a
- 8:56Speaker 2: high school report. We'll hear from some A and M
- 8:59Speaker 2: players tomorrow. Mallory, we'll be here tomorrow. And we're waiting
- 9:05Speaker 2: on a big, big, big announcement for Friday's show, but
- 9:13Speaker 2: may have to wait a couple of days. So I
- 9:15Speaker 2: can't say anything about that yet. It would be premature,
- 9:20Speaker 2: shall we say?
- 9:22Speaker 4: Okay?
- 9:24Speaker 2: And I think the rest of this hour we're going
- 9:27Speaker 2: to be spending talking about the Cowboys defense. The Final
- 9:31Speaker 2: Out is brought to you by Chad Jones.
- 9:33Speaker 5: Law.
- 9:34Speaker 6: I'm Chad Jones. We know sports injuries hurt, and so
- 9:37Speaker 6: do injuries from car Rex, but you didn't sign up
- 9:40Speaker 6: to be in a car wreck with someone who wasn't
- 9:42Speaker 6: paying attention. It was their fault and now you're left
- 9:44Speaker 6: to deal with the consequences. You need to see a doctor,
- 9:47Speaker 6: and you're missing work. Chad Jones Law can help. We've
- 9:49Speaker 6: been helping our neighbors for more than two decades. Stop
- 9:52Speaker 6: getting frustrated with the other side's foot dragging. Remember, don't
- 9:56Speaker 6: get mad. Get Chad. Call Chad Jones Law at ninety
- 9:59Speaker 6: seven nine five nine five five thousand, or go on
- 10:01Speaker 6: line to Chad Jones lawn dot com.
- 10:06Speaker 7: NASCAR Cup Series race recap from New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
- 10:09Speaker 7: I'm Kerry Murphy. It's a sixteenth career win and first
- 10:12Speaker 7: career win at this track, leading one hundred and sixteen
- 10:15Speaker 7: laps on the day to take the checker flag. His
- 10:17Speaker 7: name is Ryan Blaney.
- 10:18Speaker 8: Yeah, just massive props to all of you know, Team
- 10:21Speaker 8: Penske Wood Brothers. We did a great job leading up
- 10:24Speaker 8: to this race and preparing and through the weekend practice,
- 10:27Speaker 8: qualifying in the race. Our cars are really fast and
- 10:31Speaker 8: as a whole, like as a whole company, that's something
- 10:34Speaker 8: they should really be proud of. I'm just in the
- 10:36Speaker 8: fortunate situation I get a drive of fast raced car,
- 10:39Speaker 8: you know, and the yeah, it sticks volumes of the
- 10:42Speaker 8: hard work that they've done. And uh, I think for
- 10:44Speaker 8: us to run one the first just run second was showy,
- 10:49Speaker 8: third or fourth, top five stage win, like that's a
- 10:53Speaker 8: great day and uh so, yeah, just huge, huge props
- 10:57Speaker 8: to them and could be proud of them. And it's
- 10:59Speaker 8: nice to we we're able to capitalize on having such
- 11:01Speaker 8: fast course. Maybe you try something Kansas that might go
- 11:04Speaker 8: better in Vegas, you know, two mile and a half.
- 11:06Speaker 8: So it just gives you the options to do that.
- 11:09Speaker 7: Third win this season for Ryan from the front row
- 11:12Speaker 7: to lock into the round of eight. Josh Barry was second,
- 11:15Speaker 7: follow by William Byron, Joey Logano, and Chase Elliott rounds
- 11:18Speaker 7: out the top five. The bottom four drivers heading into
- 11:20Speaker 7: the second race in this round are Ross Shastain, Austin Sindrick,
- 11:24Speaker 7: Tyler Redick, and Bubba Wallace. Up next for the NASCAR
- 11:27Speaker 7: Cup Series is Kansas Speedway. Check it out Sunday at
- 11:30Speaker 7: three pm Eastern on USA.

- 13:02Speaker 2: And by the way, if we can find the winner,
- 13:05Speaker 2: we're going to give him prizes. Even if we can't
- 13:08Speaker 2: find the winner, we're still going to give him prizes.
- 13:11Speaker 2: The tiebreaker this week is in State College Pennsylvania. It's
- 13:15Speaker 2: Oregon and penn State, Little Ridge and Runner Anderson Adam Consolidated,
- 13:23Speaker 2: Auburn at A and m lsu O, Miss Alabama, Georgia, TCU,

- 14:12Speaker 2: to get their name engraved.
- 14:14Speaker 4: On Lord Howard's Cup.
- 14:16Speaker 2: The most venerated Trophy in all of sports. I'm kind
- 14:24Speaker 2: of stretching because we're trying to see if we're getting
- 14:28Speaker 2: the winner on or not getting the winner on, and
- 14:32Speaker 2: Matt's trying to Would you bring me that sheet, Matt,
- 14:38Speaker 2: so we can at least did you leave a message
- 14:41Speaker 2: for him?
- 14:42Speaker 11: Okay?
- 14:43Speaker 2: So our winner this week is Terry Casto. If you
- 14:50Speaker 2: know Terry Casto, tell him that someone is talking about
- 14:55Speaker 2: him or her.
- 14:57Speaker 4: It's spelled te r r.
- 14:59Speaker 1: I would be female, right, I mean I don't know
- 15:05Speaker 1: he ors she.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Oh, it is a she because I've got the email
- 15:11Speaker 2: and she's the second part of the email. Okay, So, Terry, congratulations,
- 15:19Speaker 2: you have won.
- 15:21Speaker 4: A cool prize.
- 15:23Speaker 2: It's a buffet for two at Kassa Manyari, a Sunday
- 15:31Speaker 2: brunch buffet for two from Casa Manyari. Thank me later anyway, Congratulations.
- 15:40Speaker 2: If you know Terry, tell her, hey, you just won
- 15:43Speaker 2: something pretty cool.
- 15:45Speaker 4: Are you hungry? Anyway?
- 15:47Speaker 2: We'll have valuable prizes to give away every week of
- 15:50Speaker 2: the season. Friday's Fearless Football Forecast Contest, America's most loved
- 15:54Speaker 2: football Pick Them Contest, present it by Zornaman Flooring and
- 15:59Speaker 2: Chad Joe Owns Law.
- 16:01Speaker 1: So we got that going for us, which is nice.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Okay, let's do this. Coach Elcho visited with the media today.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Is usual Monday presser. We carry that live here on
- 16:17Speaker 2: the zone. At one point thirty. It was short today.
- 16:23Speaker 2: I guess because there wasn't a game last week, maybe
- 16:28Speaker 2: there weren't quite as many questions. I kind of ask
- 16:34Speaker 2: a few more, but I kept waiting, and finally.
- 16:37Speaker 4: Is that that's it? Okay? He was thrilled by the way.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Here's coach Elko.
- 16:43Speaker 5: I enjoyed the bye week. Didn't have to come in
- 16:45Speaker 5: here and be part of this media session. But good
- 16:49Speaker 5: to be back, Good to be back in SEC play.
- 16:51Speaker 5: I thought we had a productive bye week. I thought
- 16:54Speaker 5: we were able to get a lot of things accomplished
- 16:56Speaker 5: last week, just kind of focusing on ourselves, areas where
- 16:59Speaker 5: we can prove, areas where we could get better, kind
- 17:02Speaker 5: of as we look big picture at things we got
- 17:04Speaker 5: to do as we headed into SEC play to be
- 17:06Speaker 5: successful and then transitioned fully into Auburn stuff. Yesterday. I
- 17:11Speaker 5: went out today and practiced and had a really good
- 17:13Speaker 5: practice and so excited for the week, Excited for SEC
- 17:16Speaker 5: opponent number one, and just looking forward to this and
- 17:19Speaker 5: ready to get started. So I'm sure you guys got
- 17:21Speaker 5: a million questions because it's been like two weeks since
- 17:23Speaker 5: you got to ask. So fire away got.
- 17:25Speaker 2: You're gonna got the right olin.
- 17:29Speaker 12: Yeah, I Mike, you know last year, uh you said,
- 17:35Speaker 12: you said that last year after you all got into
- 17:37Speaker 12: the top ten, that y'all didn't kind of handle the
- 17:39Speaker 12: situation very well. You've been very outspoken about that. So
- 17:43Speaker 12: I'm just asking if you have a feel for whether
- 17:47Speaker 12: you think that you know you're going to be able
- 17:49Speaker 12: to be more lack of a better way to put it,
- 17:52Speaker 12: more comfortable in that in that role.
- 17:55Speaker 5: Well, I certainly hope so, because that would be better
- 17:58Speaker 5: than what happened last year. No, it's I think it's
- 18:01Speaker 5: a hard thing. It's a hard thing to feel, you know.
- 18:05Speaker 5: I think you want to you want to feel work
- 18:08Speaker 5: ethic and continued growth mindset. I think we felt that.
- 18:12Speaker 5: I think you want to feel that the kids are
- 18:15Speaker 5: hungry for success. I think we felt that at the
- 18:18Speaker 5: end of the day, they're going to have to run
- 18:19Speaker 5: out of the tunnel Saturday and make plays and make
- 18:23Speaker 5: plays in an SEC game against a really quality opponent.
- 18:26Speaker 5: And so how we handle that probably remains to be determined,
- 18:30Speaker 5: and so I can probably get up here and say anything.
- 18:34Speaker 5: I think the reality is is we're gonna have to
- 18:35Speaker 5: go out there and do it, and we're gonna have
- 18:37Speaker 5: to go do it against one of the teams that
- 18:39Speaker 5: that beat us last year, and so obviously they're very
- 18:41Speaker 5: capable of getting the job done against US.
- 18:44Speaker 13: Coach front left Mark Mike Uh, I'm gonna take one
- 18:49Speaker 13: out Allan's book and go with the two parter.
- 18:51Speaker 10: But question one, any update on Scooby and Bryce?
- 18:56Speaker 11: Yeah?
- 18:56Speaker 5: Bryce will be out this week. I think he's still recovering.
- 18:59Speaker 5: We'll kind of see how that goes from a timeframe standpoint.
- 19:03Speaker 5: Scooby's day to day and getting better every day.
- 19:07Speaker 14: During the summer.
- 19:08Speaker 2: You're talking a lot about avoiding mental mistakes and things
- 19:12Speaker 2: of that sort, especially against the run.
- 19:15Speaker 10: Still seeing those pop up.
- 19:16Speaker 15: How did you work on that in the bye week
- 19:18Speaker 15: or did you work on that in the bye week?
- 19:21Speaker 5: Yeah, I think just continuing to the best of our
- 19:25Speaker 5: ability to point things out in hopes that you know,
- 19:30Speaker 5: at some point you click with a little bit higher
- 19:32Speaker 5: level of consistency of performance. You know, obviously, if I
- 19:37Speaker 5: had a better answer, we would have solved it already
- 19:40Speaker 5: and that's not an excuse, it's just a reality. But yeah,
- 19:44Speaker 5: still the extremely diligent at it, still working hard at it,
- 19:47Speaker 5: still trying to find creative ways to get it, what
- 19:50Speaker 5: with how we teach, how we call things, what we call,
- 19:53Speaker 5: what we do, what they're comfortable doing, and just still
- 19:58Speaker 5: trying to find that that recipe. Get that right, We'll
- 20:01Speaker 5: stay on the left, Alex.
- 20:03Speaker 16: Yeah, I'm just curious if you can see the strides
- 20:06Speaker 16: that Terry Bussey has made now that he's had the
- 20:08Speaker 16: full offseason, the offense and just through these first few weeks.
- 20:11Speaker 5: Yeah, I think he continues to get better every day.
- 20:14Speaker 5: I think, you know, again, we talked an awful lot
- 20:16Speaker 5: about his journey from being a really talented athlete at
- 20:20Speaker 5: a small school in Texas where he did everything to
- 20:23Speaker 5: being a really fundamentally sound wide receiver in the SEC.
- 20:27Speaker 5: And I think that's been the journey that he's been on. Again,
- 20:31Speaker 5: it's been hampered at times by injury. I think that's
- 20:33Speaker 5: played a role in some of it. But he's been
- 20:36Speaker 5: healthy now, knock on wood for quite a few weeks
- 20:39Speaker 5: in a row, and I think that's allowed him to
- 20:41Speaker 5: really get out there and start to refine his craft,
- 20:43Speaker 5: and I think it's good to see that showing up
- 20:45Speaker 5: and becoming a reliable playmaker for us on Saturdays.
- 20:49Speaker 16: And then with a m looking for another university president. Now,
- 20:53Speaker 16: I was just curious if you could share. It's just
- 20:54Speaker 16: what in your experience, just what's the dynamic in the
- 20:58Speaker 16: relationship between football coach and university president in this kind
- 21:01Speaker 16: of current era.
- 21:03Speaker 5: I just think you're always looking for alignment. I think
- 21:05Speaker 5: you're looking for a guy who understands what football is
- 21:09Speaker 5: at this university and will do the things necessary to
- 21:12Speaker 5: support that. You know, I got a lot of confidence
- 21:15Speaker 5: in the people making that decision that they'll call out
- 21:17Speaker 5: and I'll find the right person to do that. Coach
- 21:19Speaker 5: to the right Travis Hey.
- 21:22Speaker 15: Coach, I know. I'll talk about Marcel shaking the moniker
- 21:27Speaker 15: becoming a passer with Nate Borgacier kind of a similar
- 21:31Speaker 15: thing with the hands that he has not just being
- 21:33Speaker 15: a blocking tight end. Do you think he kind of
- 21:35Speaker 15: was able to prove that on Saturday.
- 21:37Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 21:37Speaker 5: I mean, I don't know, if you know, I don't
- 21:39Speaker 5: have one catch for eleven yards proves that, but I
- 21:41Speaker 5: certainly think he has proven that. I think he had
- 21:44Speaker 5: a couple of big catches in the UTSA game. He's
- 21:47Speaker 5: a kid. We have a lot of confidence too throwing
- 21:49Speaker 5: the football. I think he can make a tested catches.
- 21:51Speaker 5: He can make strong catches in traffic. And so I'm
- 21:54Speaker 5: sure as the year goes on, people will start playing
- 21:58Speaker 5: us differently, and as we have to adjust to that,
- 22:02Speaker 5: I'm sure that'll create opportunities for tight ends, for running backs,
- 22:05Speaker 5: for other receivers. I just imagine all of that stuff
- 22:08Speaker 5: is coming down the pipeline here, and so he'll be
- 22:11Speaker 5: ready and I think he'll be a very productive player
- 22:13Speaker 5: for us.
- 22:13Speaker 15: And with what Auburn's been able to put on or
- 22:15Speaker 15: what Auburn has put on films so far this season,
- 22:17Speaker 15: is this a game that the pass rush could be
- 22:21Speaker 15: kind of pinning the years back for oh?
- 22:23Speaker 5: I don't think so at all. I think I think
- 22:25Speaker 5: they're extremely talented up front. I think it was a
- 22:27Speaker 5: little bit of an anomaly on Saturday. We got a
- 22:31Speaker 5: ton of respect for them. And I think human psychology,
- 22:34Speaker 5: I said this to the guys this morning, human psychology says, absolutely,
- 22:38Speaker 5: without a doubt, the best unit on the field Saturday
- 22:40Speaker 5: will be the auburne offensive line. I can promise you
- 22:42Speaker 5: that coach to the.
- 22:43Speaker 4: Left, Frob, how do you coach?
- 22:47Speaker 17: So during the off season, your big emphasis was to finish.
- 22:52Speaker 17: How proud of you of the guys were you that
- 22:55Speaker 17: that they had to drive the link of the field
- 22:57Speaker 17: and literally finish on the last offensive play.
- 23:00Speaker 5: Yeah, I think obviously that was a huge step for
- 23:03Speaker 5: our program. I think that's that's the biggest thing is
- 23:07Speaker 5: is you know, when you get in those moments, you've
- 23:10Speaker 5: got to ultimately find a way to get the job
- 23:12Speaker 5: done in order to move the program forward. And you know,
- 23:16Speaker 5: we had an opportunity to do that at Auburn last year.
- 23:18Speaker 5: We had an opportunity to do that in the bowl
- 23:20Speaker 5: game last year, and we weren't able to finish it
- 23:22Speaker 5: the right way. It was good to get into a
- 23:25Speaker 5: game and finish it, you know, now, you know three
- 23:29Speaker 5: weeks does not make a finish and so you know,
- 23:31Speaker 5: we still got a lot of football left and a
- 23:33Speaker 5: lot of things that we've got to do in order
- 23:35Speaker 5: to accomplish what we want to accomplish. And you know,
- 23:38Speaker 5: we have zero sec wins right now, and so we
- 23:41Speaker 5: had a lot of things we got to do still.
- 23:43Speaker 18: Coach back right, Mike I was wondering if you had
- 23:47Speaker 18: a reaction to the three teams that that you'll be
- 23:50Speaker 18: on your schedule the next four years Texas, LSU, and Missouri.
- 23:54Speaker 11: Not really.
- 23:54Speaker 5: I mean, it's it's good obviously that we're playing the
- 23:57Speaker 5: end state rivalry. You know, always good to play LSU.
- 24:02Speaker 5: I guess Missouri. I'm not sure how that fit in,
- 24:04Speaker 5: but you know, it is what it is. And so
- 24:06Speaker 5: however they did that, it'll be fine.
- 24:08Speaker 18: What have you seen from Jackson Arnold as you study him?
- 24:11Speaker 5: A really talented kid. I think he can make a
- 24:13Speaker 5: lot of throws, He's got really good arm talent, He's
- 24:16Speaker 5: got the ability to beat you with his legs and
- 24:18Speaker 5: can run around and do some things. And I think
- 24:22Speaker 5: obviously that was that was probably a really challenging environment
- 24:25Speaker 5: for him Saturday, just going back there and all of
- 24:28Speaker 5: the emotions that come with that, and so I'm sure
- 24:31Speaker 5: he's going to be very hungry to come out and
- 24:33Speaker 5: play really, really well Saturday. There'll be a team that's
- 24:35Speaker 5: got their backs against the wall, and I'm sure they'll
- 24:37Speaker 5: they'll put their best foot out there.
- 24:39Speaker 19: Coach to the left, Tony Coach. We talked about the
- 24:41Speaker 19: psychology of football, a lot. Obviously a big win against
- 24:44Speaker 19: Notre Dame, then straight into a bye week. I'm curious
- 24:46Speaker 19: how you feel about how you would like those situations.
- 24:49Speaker 19: Do you wish you could just get back out there
- 24:50Speaker 19: or are you okay with kind of just recentering talk
- 24:52Speaker 19: to your guys and kind of moving forward like that.
- 24:55Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know, Like it's not so much about
- 24:58Speaker 5: what the schedule is. I think it's how your guys
- 25:00Speaker 5: handle it. And so you know, the challenge to our
- 25:03Speaker 5: guys is to handle the psychology of success and and
- 25:07Speaker 5: you know, to continue to stay ground it, to continue
- 25:09Speaker 5: to keep working, continue to to move forward, and continue
- 25:12Speaker 5: to focus on the things we've got to focus on
- 25:14Speaker 5: to become the best team we're capable of becoming. And
- 25:16Speaker 5: I don't know that that's any easier or harder, honestly,
- 25:19Speaker 5: based on whether you have a bye week or don't
- 25:21Speaker 5: have a bye week. It just kind of is what
- 25:23Speaker 5: it is. The challenges on them and us as a
- 25:26Speaker 5: staff to continue to drive this thing. And I think
- 25:29Speaker 5: that's the challenge, you know, And so we had two
- 25:32Speaker 5: weeks to accomplish that as opposed to one, and you know,
- 25:35Speaker 5: hopefully that that we're able to get that done and
- 25:37Speaker 5: hit that recipe the right way, second.
- 25:40Speaker 20: Road to the right Carter, Hey, Mike, any updates on
- 25:43Speaker 20: Reuben Fothery where he kind of is that in his recovery.
- 25:46Speaker 5: Yeah, he's he's getting really close. He was able to
- 25:49Speaker 5: go out there and practice today and so hopeful that
- 25:53Speaker 5: we'll have him in some capacity on Saturday. But he's
- 25:56Speaker 5: kind of right at that spot. You know, if I
- 25:59Speaker 5: had to guess, he'll be listed as questionable or probable
- 26:02Speaker 5: on Wednesday.
- 26:04Speaker 20: And how would you kind of assess how des Rix
- 26:07Speaker 20: and Will Lee have done this season? And how would
- 26:09Speaker 20: you say they match up against Eric Singleton and Kim Coleman.
- 26:12Speaker 5: Oh God, I think it's been really good to see Dez.
- 26:16Speaker 5: I think he's taken some really positive steps forward. Obviously,
- 26:18Speaker 5: Will is a very consistent player for us, and the
- 26:20Speaker 5: kid that we have a ton of confidence in. You've
- 26:24Speaker 5: heard my story on matchups. I'd way rather be playing
- 26:27Speaker 5: guys who weren't big, athletic, fast and ten two in
- 26:31Speaker 5: one hundred meters and so this is a really really
- 26:34Speaker 5: talented wide receiver corps and so you know, we'll see
- 26:36Speaker 5: how we do on Saturday. But there's a lot of
- 26:39Speaker 5: other teams I would rather try to match up with
- 26:40Speaker 5: on Saturday a wide receiver than this group.
- 26:43Speaker 15: Coach, you'll stay in the second row.
- 26:44Speaker 12: Well one, Well, speaking of talented wide receiver, Corps Auburn,
- 26:49Speaker 12: I'll talk about you now. Obviously you expected some great
- 26:55Speaker 12: things from those guys that you wouldn't have brought them
- 26:56Speaker 12: in anyway. But have Case and Mario exceeded expectations by
- 27:03Speaker 12: any means to do? Is what they've done so quickly?
- 27:09Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know. I mean, I mean, it's it's
- 27:11Speaker 5: obviously really good that they've gone out there and made
- 27:13Speaker 5: the plays that they made. It was really good in
- 27:15Speaker 5: the game like that against the secondary like that last week,
- 27:18Speaker 5: that they were able to make the plays that they did.
- 27:21Speaker 5: You know, obviously we had tremendously high expectations for those guys.
- 27:26Speaker 5: You know, I know that everybody likes to kind of
- 27:29Speaker 5: create their own mindset on who the good players are
- 27:31Speaker 5: in the portal and who the guys are that you
- 27:33Speaker 5: have to get and who you lose and all of
- 27:36Speaker 5: those things. You know, everybody writes their own stories on them.
- 27:38Speaker 5: But we felt very confident with what we did and
- 27:41Speaker 5: what we accomplished and who we brought in and so,
- 27:45Speaker 5: but you know, obviously it still has to play out,
- 27:47Speaker 5: right and until it plays out, you don't know. And
- 27:49Speaker 5: so it's just been great to see those guys be
- 27:51Speaker 5: what we hoped and thought they could be for US.
- 27:54Speaker 16: Coach front row to the left, Robert.
- 27:56Speaker 21: Mike, does do you figure defense has an identity? A
- 27:59Speaker 21: lot of people said been to don't break last year?
- 28:01Speaker 21: We probably looked at your defensive line? Is it too earlier?
- 28:05Speaker 21: What about does your do you feel your defense has not?
- 28:08Speaker 11: I did it.
- 28:09Speaker 5: I think we're still kind of working through it. Obviously,
- 28:12Speaker 5: we haven't had the level of success or didn't have
- 28:14Speaker 5: the level of success that we wanted to have in
- 28:16Speaker 5: the Notre Dame game, and it would be hard to
- 28:19Speaker 5: sit here and tell you, you know what our actual
- 28:22Speaker 5: what what what we're holding our hat on right now.
- 28:24Speaker 5: We've played one Power five game and it didn't go great.
- 28:28Speaker 5: But you know, obviously that's something we've got to fix
- 28:30Speaker 5: moving forward now.
- 28:31Speaker 2: I thought that was an interesting answer by coach elcol
- 28:35Speaker 2: in the defense and there are still things to fix,
- 28:41Speaker 2: and Notre Dame read fairly well. They certainly didn't run
- 28:46Speaker 2: over A and M's defense. A and M made some
- 28:49Speaker 2: key plays defensively, but there are still issues. And Auburn
- 28:56Speaker 2: can run the football. They didn't run it at all
- 29:00Speaker 2: against Oklahoma.
- 29:02Speaker 4: I think Oklahoma's defense is pretty good.
- 29:07Speaker 2: I think what Oklahoma did is Jackson Arnold is not
- 29:11Speaker 2: going to beat us with his legs.
- 29:14Speaker 1: He will not beat us.
- 29:15Speaker 4: They kept him in the pocket.
- 29:16Speaker 2: They did an outstanding job of controlling him. And if
- 29:21Speaker 2: you don't do that, he will run through you. You would
- 29:25Speaker 2: rather him pass because I still don't think he's very good,
- 29:30Speaker 2: and you would rather make him throw the football than
- 29:33Speaker 2: give him lanes to rush through. And look, Alco is
- 29:37Speaker 2: a defensive coach. He's watching the game. He saw the game.
- 29:44Speaker 2: He understands what they did. Can A and M do
- 29:49Speaker 2: that as well, and we'll be talking about that. I'm
- 29:54Speaker 2: gonna shift briefly to baseball. I don't want to, but
- 29:58Speaker 2: I'm going to anyway, because honestly, this weekend made my
- 30:04Speaker 2: heart happy. And you know, if you follow me on
- 30:08Speaker 2: social media, you know that I stand by everything I
- 30:12Speaker 2: put on social media most of the time, unless you
- 30:16Speaker 2: don't like it, and then I say, oh, that wasn't me.
- 30:18Speaker 2: Somebody hacked my account, which by the way, has happened before.

- 34:16Speaker 4: It's called the Love Game, right, and it's the Loves

- 34:21Speaker 5: Is that? Is that right?
- 34:23Speaker 15: Man?
- 34:23Speaker 4: I'm good with this anyway.
- 34:25Speaker 2: Uh, you know there there are words to that, but
- 34:33Speaker 2: but I'm just saying, uh, that's pretty cool. Okay, if
- 34:40Speaker 2: you weren't with us earlier, why are we doing very white?
- 34:43Speaker 2: Just ask Chad Jones. Just when you see Chad or
- 34:46Speaker 2: call him. Don't bother him at work because he'll probably
- 34:48Speaker 2: sing you a bill. But but when you see him out,
- 34:51Speaker 2: ask him what's the very white reference?
- 34:54Speaker 4: Okay, enough of that one.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Ste Astros crushed the Rangers last week and eliminated them
- 35:07Speaker 2: basically from playoffs. Well, then all I had left was
- 35:12Speaker 2: watching the Astros crumble. I mean that's basically as a fan,
- 35:15Speaker 2: that's all you've got. And man, what a terrific weekend
- 35:19Speaker 2: for me. I watched and paid attention to these games,
- 35:23Speaker 2: and I watched every inning last night, and I specifically
- 35:29Speaker 2: waited to tweet and to put on Facebook until the
- 35:34Speaker 2: very last out was made. I did not want to
- 35:37Speaker 2: jinx Seattle. Okay, I know seven to three, but the
- 35:43Speaker 2: Astros meeklely tried to come back Saturday, and so I
- 35:51Speaker 2: didn't want to jinx anything. And it was just it
- 35:55Speaker 2: was wonderful. I mean, it's not the playoffs, it's but
- 36:00Speaker 2: it was so much fun watching them go down to
- 36:02Speaker 2: flames at home. And I suspect that's the end of
- 36:07Speaker 2: the road for them as well. But be that as may.
- 36:15Speaker 2: While I'm paying very close attention to Seattle and Houston,
- 36:20Speaker 2: I was paying no attention to Miami, the Marlins and
- 36:27Speaker 2: the Rangers. And I'm getting texts like who's replacing Bochie?
- 36:36Speaker 2: And I'm saying, look, two weeks ago, my friend Kevin
- 36:40Speaker 2: Sherrington wrote a great column on Bouchie, who said, I'm
- 36:44Speaker 2: having fun. I'm not planning on leaving now. That doesn't
- 36:48Speaker 2: mean they wouldn't make a change. I'm just saying, but
- 36:51Speaker 2: that was before they have just cratered. I mean that's
- 36:56Speaker 2: before they just went in the tank. And I'm thinking
- 37:00Speaker 2: he's seventy one, why does he need this? But as
- 37:04Speaker 2: he told Kevin Sherrington, I'm a competitive sob. He likes
- 37:09Speaker 2: it right, and he's really good at it, and I
- 37:12Speaker 2: will stick with this that I can't think of another
- 37:18Speaker 2: manager in baseball that would have had this team close
- 37:21Speaker 2: to five hundred. With the stats and the way they've
- 37:24Speaker 2: hit the ball and the injuries they've had this year.
- 37:27Speaker 2: I think this guy is the best at what he does.
- 37:30Speaker 2: And they may go get somebody else, because that's what
- 37:32Speaker 2: you do in baseball.
- 37:33Speaker 4: You need new blood, you.
- 37:35Speaker 2: Need somebody who has a new message. Players have tuned
- 37:39Speaker 2: him out. I don't know if that's the case or not. Honestly,
- 37:43Speaker 2: I'm just saying, if I'm running the team, boaches back.
- 37:46Speaker 2: If he wants to be back, without question. Now, they've
- 37:49Speaker 2: got to be some changes, and if I'm running the team,
- 37:52Speaker 2: I'll make some changes. Meryl Kelly was terrible yesterday day.
- 38:01Speaker 2: Let's listen to Bochie. Can we hear from Bouchie? Uh?
- 38:05Speaker 1: Let's hear from Bruce Bochie Yesterday?
- 38:08Speaker 27: This was just a really tough week of baseball. Just
- 38:11Speaker 27: how much of the past seven games have just been
- 38:14Speaker 27: a team that's lost momentum here?
- 38:17Speaker 11: Yeah, yeah, no doubt we have awesome momentum. I mean
- 38:21Speaker 11: we're in a funk. I'm just not scoring runs. And
- 38:27Speaker 11: that's what happened again today. I mean, they pitched great
- 38:31Speaker 11: in this series. They swung the bats. I'm talking about
- 38:36Speaker 11: Marlin's there. They played great baseball, and we just got
- 38:39Speaker 11: beat all three games offensively pitching, and we just couldn't,
- 38:48Speaker 11: you know, mount something your last couple of games. First
- 38:50Speaker 11: inning didn't cash in and when they came back to
- 38:54Speaker 11: haunt us, get a couple of guys on and just
- 38:57Speaker 11: couldn't keep it going there and that's a big inning.
- 39:01Speaker 11: Uh we you know, we had a little better job
- 39:03Speaker 11: of catching him when we get those guys on, and.
- 39:08Speaker 27: Could you Freeman drove in a run, made it a
- 39:09Speaker 27: one run game. What do moments like that at this
- 39:13Speaker 27: point in the season and tell you about a player?
- 39:17Speaker 11: Yeah, no, he plays hard, that's what you got to do.
- 39:21Speaker 11: And uh he's he grinds and you know, the bats
- 39:24Speaker 11: and find his way to put him play And now
- 39:27Speaker 11: it's a nice game by him. Uh, big hit open
- 39:30Speaker 11: that hit al right, now we'll get things going. But
- 39:32Speaker 11: uh uh, that's where it stopped.
- 39:36Speaker 5: Speaking of losing moments and going into Houston law speak.
- 39:39Speaker 2: You feel like you guys are.
- 39:40Speaker 27: Playing really good baseball, and could you pinpoint something just
- 39:43Speaker 27: in terms of why.
- 39:45Speaker 11: Na i'd i'd like to Kennedy and i'd l you know,
- 39:48Speaker 11: you like to pinpoint, but uh, you know, just could
- 39:51Speaker 11: miss those time to hits. More than anything, there's times
- 39:54Speaker 11: we get guys on base and not not getting that
- 39:56Speaker 11: one more hit. Uh. You know, pitching hasn't been a
- 39:59Speaker 11: sharp you know that's gotten away from us a little
- 40:02Speaker 11: bit Meryll looked real. I thought there, well, real, well
- 40:06Speaker 11: first three innings and then you know they started putting
- 40:10Speaker 11: the ball and play getting a barrow on it. And
- 40:13Speaker 11: but that's more than anything. Probably haven't played the defense
- 40:16Speaker 11: that we played all year either. If you look back
- 40:19Speaker 11: at some of these games.
- 40:21Speaker 28: Going off to Kennedy's question, given how well you were
- 40:24Speaker 28: playing just a week ago, did does that make this
- 40:27Speaker 28: kid more surprising? I guess to see how quickly it's
- 40:30Speaker 28: flipped in a dress.
- 40:31Speaker 11: Yeah, it's baseball. I know, it's baseball. There's other teams
- 40:34Speaker 11: that you see really good teams that are struggling. Now,
- 40:38Speaker 11: it's hard explaining what happens. Uh, but it's happened to us.
- 40:42Speaker 11: And you know, you getting these funks and just seems
- 40:46Speaker 11: they can't do anything right. Uh, and it's kind of
- 40:50Speaker 11: been the case here. Uh so it's just it's something
- 40:55Speaker 11: got to keep fighting. Uh, you know, we getting a
- 41:00Speaker 11: couple of series left, and uh that's our job. Go
- 41:02Speaker 11: out there and do all we can to win a
- 41:05Speaker 11: ball game and keep marching here.
- 41:07Speaker 28: I'm just o Kelly, he was it seventy three pitches?
- 41:10Speaker 28: I think was that just seeing the matchup and kind
- 41:13Speaker 28: of how he looked at it in when you went
- 41:14Speaker 28: to Lats.
- 41:15Speaker 11: Yeah, we anyway four you know they they gotta tell
- 41:19Speaker 11: him a little bit and in that one and I
- 41:22Speaker 11: had a bullpen that was ready to go. So I'm
- 41:25Speaker 11: just trying to keep the score where it was.
- 41:28Speaker 28: You know where you are in the stats?
- 41:29Speaker 25: You know what do you wanna see the over this
- 41:31Speaker 25: final six games?
- 41:32Speaker 29: You can't just mentioned, but is there anything.
- 41:34Speaker 5: You're looking for?
- 41:35Speaker 11: It's play hard, That's all I'm looking for, you know.
- 41:37Speaker 11: They's that's when you know your times like this, it
- 41:43Speaker 11: reveals character and uh that's up to us to go
- 41:47Speaker 11: out there and continue to play hard. We got some
- 41:49Speaker 11: games left and and get some pitchers trying to win
- 41:53Speaker 11: ball games. These guys are trying to win games, you know.
- 41:56Speaker 11: Just play for each other and play as hard as
- 41:58Speaker 11: you can uh out there and see what happens.
- 42:01Speaker 4: That's Bruce Bouche.
- 42:02Speaker 2: After another loss yesterday, we're going to take a break.
- 42:09Speaker 4: It wouldn't be well.
- 42:10Speaker 2: We didn't hear from Steve Sarkis, and I don't think
- 42:12Speaker 2: we've heard from them in a couple of weeks. And
- 42:15Speaker 2: I don't know about you, but I'm going, hey, where
- 42:19Speaker 2: sark So we're going to hear from them when we

- 43:53Speaker 30: runs in the second inning off Astro starter Jason Alexander,
- 43:55Speaker 30: who won just one in a third, allowing seven earned
- 43:58Speaker 30: runs on seven hits.

- 45:15Speaker 33: it takes everybody right there, my friends, just because it's

- 45:27Speaker 33: thing that you will never in your life ever have
- 45:29Speaker 33: to worry about me if I'll ever change towards you, because.
- 45:37Speaker 2: Man if I had that voice, I'd have been retired
- 45:39Speaker 2: for the last ten years. I'm just telling you that
- 45:41Speaker 2: right now. That's a great berry white right there. Yes,
- 45:44Speaker 2: all right, enough of that from one grade to enough another.
- 45:49Speaker 2: Like I said, it's been a little while. Here is
- 45:52Speaker 2: Steve Sarkisian from today's news conference.
- 45:56Speaker 13: As far as the game goes, just looking back on it,
- 46:00Speaker 13: meet with the players earlier today, I thought there was
- 46:02Speaker 13: some some really good things. Obviously scoring on the opening
- 46:05Speaker 13: drive of the game, and with that, you know, converting
- 46:08Speaker 13: three third downs. You know that had been somewhat of
- 46:12Speaker 13: an issue for us here for the first three games.
- 46:14Speaker 13: So to to convert three third downs. I think the
- 46:17Speaker 13: first one was a third and nine to DeAndre Moore
- 46:20Speaker 13: and obviously capping it off with the run there by
- 46:23Speaker 13: Jared Gibson for the touchdown was fantastic. And I think
- 46:26Speaker 13: scoring on our first nine possessions of the game, you know,
- 46:31Speaker 13: seven touchdowns of those nine, and so that that part
- 46:34Speaker 13: was great. It was definitely an explosive game for US.
- 46:37Speaker 13: I think we had twenty explosive plays and a variety
- 46:40Speaker 13: of guys creating.
- 46:41Speaker 10: Those explosive plays.
- 46:42Speaker 13: I think Wingo obviously had the big touchdown catch and
- 46:45Speaker 13: the long run. Ryan Nibblett, you know, showed up on
- 46:49Speaker 13: a screen for an explosive play, and so a lot
- 46:51Speaker 13: of different guys creating those plays, which was big and
- 46:55Speaker 13: I think it was great to see. Even going back
- 46:58Speaker 13: looking at the tate from Arch, you know, there was
- 47:01Speaker 13: some some really high level throws. There was a deep
- 47:03Speaker 13: out to Parker early in the game that was a
- 47:06Speaker 13: heck of a throw. There was a deep crossing route
- 47:09Speaker 13: to DeAndre Moore in between two defenders that that that
- 47:14Speaker 13: took a lot of precision, but but through it with
- 47:16Speaker 13: a lot of conviction, which was which was great for
- 47:19Speaker 13: him and you know, his ability to score touchdowns. You know,
- 47:23Speaker 13: something that I think sometimes goes unnoticed by this guy
- 47:27Speaker 13: when he's in the game.
- 47:28Speaker 10: And I think he's.
- 47:29Speaker 13: Got nine touchdown passes on the year and five runs
- 47:32Speaker 13: for touchdowns, and so his ability to get the ball
- 47:34Speaker 13: in the end zone is a factor.
- 47:36Speaker 10: You know.
- 47:36Speaker 13: I thought defensively, a lot of guys played, and the
- 47:40Speaker 13: idea that that we had five sacks, I believe by
- 47:44Speaker 13: five different players in the game is a good sign.
- 47:47Speaker 13: You know, ten TFLs I think split amongst ten different players,
- 47:52Speaker 13: and so that's that's a great sign that a lot
- 47:53Speaker 13: of guys are playing and doing it at a high level,
- 47:57Speaker 13: you know, And and I think it points to us
- 48:00Speaker 13: having the ability to play complimentary football. Our explosive play
- 48:03Speaker 13: numbers starting to get up to where we need it
- 48:05Speaker 13: to be. But yet defensively, our ability to minimize those
- 48:09Speaker 13: explosive plays is a nice balance of how we're trying
- 48:12Speaker 13: to play the game. You know, we're plus three in
- 48:16Speaker 13: the turnover margin right now, which which ultimately a simple
- 48:19Speaker 13: goal for us is to be plus whatever the number
- 48:22Speaker 13: of is of games that you've played, and so we've
- 48:25Speaker 13: played four games were at plus three. We'd like to
- 48:27Speaker 13: get that number. You know, hopefully in two weeks to
- 48:30Speaker 13: plus five, because that's you know, by the end of
- 48:32Speaker 13: the year of regular season, if you're plus twelve, you've
- 48:34Speaker 13: probably got a really good team. And that's our style
- 48:37Speaker 13: of taking care of the ball and creating turnovers. It's
- 48:40Speaker 13: twenty straight home games now we've created a turnover in
- 48:42Speaker 13: Jelan and McDonald's three straight weeks.
- 48:45Speaker 10: He's been a turnover machine.
- 48:46Speaker 13: Had to pick this week, had to pick last week,
- 48:49Speaker 13: and then tip the ball that Gilbo picked that intercepted
- 48:52Speaker 13: two weeks ago. So he's playing at a really high
- 48:54Speaker 13: level for US right now. I think from a special
- 48:57Speaker 13: team's perspective. We talked about Mason Shipley, but he's five
- 49:00Speaker 13: for five on the year on field goals. He's been
- 49:03Speaker 13: kicking off the last two weeks, but he's really it's
- 49:06Speaker 13: fourteen in a row if you go back to his
- 49:08Speaker 13: time at Texas State. So he's he's in a good
- 49:10Speaker 13: rhythm and groove kicking field goals. And Jack continues to
- 49:14Speaker 13: punt at a high level for US, and it's unfortunate.
- 49:17Speaker 13: I mean, he bombs the one punt that ends up
- 49:19Speaker 13: in the end zone, potential block in the back made
- 49:22Speaker 13: his great effort by Rehd Anderson as a gunner, but
- 49:25Speaker 13: he's really striking the ball well. And I think now
- 49:28Speaker 13: two weeks in a row of Ryan Niblett returning punts
- 49:31Speaker 13: has been an explosive player for us there. And it's
- 49:35Speaker 13: too bad on the first punt return, we just don't
- 49:37Speaker 13: quite block it the way we would have liked. I
- 49:39Speaker 13: think you would have had one there as well. So
- 49:41Speaker 13: all in all, you know, through the kind of the preseason,
- 49:45Speaker 13: we've played eighty seven players so far through four games.
- 49:49Speaker 13: Eight different guys have scored touchdowns, and nine different guys
- 49:53Speaker 13: have carried the ball. Sixteen different guys have caught passes.
- 49:58Speaker 13: We have eleven sacks far through four games and that's
- 50:01Speaker 13: split up amongst ten different guys. And so all at all,
- 50:06Speaker 13: like we're we're playing a lot of players, and now
- 50:09Speaker 13: we have a we have a pretty good sense and
- 50:11Speaker 13: a feel of who we are. I think we're going
- 50:13Speaker 13: to see a wave of players coming back getting healthy
- 50:16Speaker 13: in two weeks for the Florida game. So we've created
- 50:18Speaker 13: the depth that we've needed and now it's about whose
- 50:21Speaker 13: role is is kind of what we've got. We've got
- 50:24Speaker 13: a four game sample size to look at that because
- 50:27Speaker 13: you know, we go to Florida next week, we only
- 50:29Speaker 13: get to travel seventy four players, and so we don't
- 50:31Speaker 13: get to bring the full allotment of guys like we
- 50:33Speaker 13: were able to early in the year. And so these
- 50:36Speaker 13: next the next week week and a half is going
- 50:38Speaker 13: to be important for us to really evaluate guys roles
- 50:41Speaker 13: on special teams as well as their role on offense
- 50:45Speaker 13: and defense to to build the right group that's going
- 50:48Speaker 13: to travel to Gainesville for a tough ball game here
- 50:51Speaker 13: in two weeks.
- 50:52Speaker 34: When it comes to determining which assistant coaches and maybe
- 50:57Speaker 34: different members of your program who can go out and recruit,
- 51:00Speaker 34: how do you make those decisions and what are some
- 51:02Speaker 34: of the who are some of those guys who may
- 51:03Speaker 34: not be on field assistants or the traditional ten on
- 51:07Speaker 34: field assistants you may be sending.
- 51:08Speaker 13: Out this Yeah, you know that it's always hard in
- 51:11Speaker 13: season because they you only have so many days that
- 51:14Speaker 13: you get to be on the road. And not only
- 51:19Speaker 13: do you have some only have so many days. You know,
- 51:21Speaker 13: we like to send guys out periodically on Thursday nights
- 51:25Speaker 13: to go see guys play in person, as well as
- 51:29Speaker 13: maximizing those bye weeks and definitely during the bye weeks.
- 51:32Speaker 10: I like to get out, I like to recruit.
- 51:33Speaker 13: I like to get around our guys, see our committed players,
- 51:36Speaker 13: and so on and so forth. So we'll evaluate that
- 51:39Speaker 13: closely this week. You know, the one guy that we
- 51:41Speaker 13: historically like to get on the road this time of
- 51:43Speaker 13: year is Chris Gilbert.
- 51:45Speaker 10: And Chris's guy obviously.
- 51:46Speaker 13: Got you know, does a great job, and he's a
- 51:48Speaker 13: really good evaluator. He's got good rapport with not only
- 51:53Speaker 13: the players were recruiting, but their families, and he's very
- 51:56Speaker 13: relatable to the high school coaches.
- 51:59Speaker 10: And so Chris is active on that front.
- 52:02Speaker 13: And then some guys may be out one day and
- 52:04Speaker 13: not the next day because we're trying to preserve some
- 52:06Speaker 13: days for later in the season.
- 52:08Speaker 10: So I think we've got a good plan for this week.
- 52:12Speaker 13: We'll be very active and knowing we have the two
- 52:14Speaker 13: buys and we have one later in the year, and
- 52:16Speaker 13: so you know, you kind of do it somewhat regionally
- 52:19Speaker 13: of okay, where are we putt in the spotlight this
- 52:22Speaker 13: week and then where we're going to try to put
- 52:24Speaker 13: it on the next week.
- 52:24Speaker 10: So I think we've got a good plan. But Gilbert
- 52:27Speaker 10: will be the main one.
- 52:28Speaker 13: I think that's not an on the field coach that
- 52:31Speaker 13: will be out recruiting.
- 52:32Speaker 10: Can you just kind of talk about what lies ahead?
- 52:34Speaker 13: Yeah, you know, I think that you start evaluating our schedule,
- 52:39Speaker 13: and you know, I'm as excited as anybody to watch
- 52:42Speaker 13: a little football on Saturday. There's some great games, is
- 52:45Speaker 13: a great weekend of college football, and some high level
- 52:47Speaker 13: games are going to get played, not only in our
- 52:50Speaker 13: conference but around the country. So that that part's you know,
- 52:53Speaker 13: I think I think fun for us to take a
- 52:54Speaker 13: step back to see that as far as our schedule goes.
- 52:59Speaker 13: You know, our are some of the teams in our
- 53:01Speaker 13: conference has some really really brutal schedules, you know, and
- 53:05Speaker 13: and I look at Florida and just kind of the
- 53:11Speaker 13: gauntlet they've already been been part of, and you know,
- 53:13Speaker 13: they were you know, they're at LSU one week and
- 53:16Speaker 13: the next week they're at Miami, and they're playing really
- 53:20Speaker 13: well defense. I mean that these guys are playing at
- 53:22Speaker 13: a high, high level. You know, I think they held
- 53:25Speaker 13: LSU to thirteen points on offense. You know, the one
- 53:27Speaker 13: touchdown they scored was a pick six, you know, on
- 53:30Speaker 13: the road. To hold those guys to thirteen. I mean,
- 53:32Speaker 13: and they're holding Miami to thirteen points until about four
- 53:35Speaker 13: minutes to go, or sixteen points when I think it
- 53:38Speaker 13: was thirteen with about four six minutes to go in
- 53:42Speaker 13: that game. And so they're playing at a really high
- 53:44Speaker 13: level defensively, and you know, you know, naturally, Billy's a
- 53:49Speaker 13: really good offensive coach and they just haven't found their
- 53:51Speaker 13: groove quite yet offensively.
- 53:53Speaker 10: But going to the Swamp, there's.
- 53:56Speaker 13: People that would argue it's the toughest place to play
- 53:58Speaker 13: in the country. We've got two coaches in our office
- 54:01Speaker 13: that have coached there before and have said it's the
- 54:04Speaker 13: loudest place they've been.
- 54:07Speaker 2: All Right, that's the great Steve Sarkesian coming off just
- 54:11Speaker 2: a beat down of Sam Houston State on Saturday, I
- 54:15Speaker 2: think everybody over in Austin is giddy and trying to
- 54:20Speaker 2: figure out, how do you beat Sam Houston by fifty
- 54:23Speaker 2: five and dropping the eight people?
- 54:24Speaker 10: That's just not possible.
- 54:26Speaker 2: I'll talk to the writers about this. We've got some
- 54:29Speaker 2: Bruce Pearl stories we need to talk about in the
- 54:33Speaker 2: second hour, and obviously the Auburn game upcoming, so you
- 54:37Speaker 2: don't want to go anywhere. We have a full hour
- 54:40Speaker 2: with the writers coming up and you know it'll be
- 54:47Speaker 2: really entertaining. Sixty four years ago Garrett's Gary.
- 54:52Speaker 4: And Lawrence Oliver.
- 54:55Speaker 2: Started a repair shop in their father's garage in Waco,
- 55:00Speaker 2: and now they have got shops Oliver central Texas, including Brian,
- 55:05Speaker 2: which is locally managed and operated and has been by
- 55:12Speaker 2: Larry and the.
- 55:13Speaker 1: Staff for I don't know how long.
- 55:16Speaker 2: I mean fifty years. I think fifty years. If somebody's
- 55:20Speaker 2: around that long, you got to figure, hey, they must
- 55:23Speaker 2: know what they're doing. So when you have transmission issues
- 55:26Speaker 2: you go to Oliver Brothers twenty one oh seven Cavit
- 55:29Speaker 2: in the heart of Brian. They do free diagnostic services,
- 55:34Speaker 2: they do rebuild services that come with warranties. They do
- 55:39Speaker 2: manual transmission service as well. This is what they do
- 55:44Speaker 2: every single day and have for fifty years.
- 55:49Speaker 4: It's Oliver Brothers.
- 55:50Speaker 2: See why they say no, what knows transmissions like we
- 55:54Speaker 2: do at Oliver Brothers.
