[upbeat music] Do it. Do it, Tony. Down. Do it. Do it, Tony. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it, Tony. Do it.
• 0:19
All right, we just made it our own, ladies and gentlemen. [laughs] Hey, everybody. Quick, stop it before we get sued. [laughs] It's Full Spectrum Cycling- Freeze!... show number- Shoot... 242. 242.
• 0:30
This is, uh, why both Tony and JK decided that- Front To Fort... Front to Fort 2 should be at least- Have a presence... have a presence. I guess if, you know, if we talk over it enough, it's probably fine- Mm-hmm...
• 0:43
'cause it's, it's prior art, but it's not, you know, totally being used to- We could probably get away with that... pimp our channel. Yeah. I spent- That said- I spent money on it...
• 0:52
the algorithm's gonna go, "What the hell's going on?" Right. I j- Oh, yeah, you licensed it from them. That's what happened. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. All right, everybody. This is, uh... We got a crowded room today.
• 1:02
Got Tony. Yeah, I'm right here. Sam D's in the house. Hasn't, hasn't been here for a while. Indeed I am. Justin made his triumphant return from last week. Hello. There he is, folks. Hi.
• 1:11
And, uh- I'm doing the acoustic version of this podcast without the headset. Yeah. [laughs] They, they ran out of headsets for, uh- You know, we could have-... my cycle.
• 1:19
Might have to stretch enough that we can do two heads. To put two heads in there? We could, uh- [laughs] You know, actually, we- I got the one can flip just in case...
• 1:26
we could have more headphones, I guess, somehow, but not more microphones. We're, we're, we're maxed out at four mic- Can I, can I try AirPods this time? Two, two, uh- Right. No... two...
• 1:35
We have two turnt- Well, just one turntable. But four microphones. But four microphones, so got that going for us. I don't e- I don't even know what happened last week. Did anything happen last week?
• 1:47
[laughs] You forgot to push the button. Well, yeah. [laughs] I mean, oh, for the show? I was just talking in general.
• 1:51
Oh, no, I didn't do- In town or whatever, but- I almost went to a really cool show, and then I found out it got canceled as I was within walking distance of the show. Oh, was that- Was that Saturday? Yeah.
• 2:01
The one that you- Innocent Boyz? Uh, no. Uh, Greg Cartwright- Oh... at Cactus. Did he go somewhere else, or just- I don't know what happened... cancel it? 'Cause he was on Von Muntz on Thursday,
• 2:12
uh, did a DJ set at Mothership on Friday night, and then sa- at some point Saturday morning, they put out an email and whatever saying, uh, "Due to unforeseen events-" Mm...
• 2:25
"he had to cancel," and Derik Persil and Gamble- They had COVID... hopefully- Would be my guess... nothing serious. I don't know. Yeah, exactly. I am just curious as to what...
• 2:32
And they were very quick on the, uh, refund. Oh, nice. As long as he contacted them. Ca- Cactus is cool people. Yeah, yeah. And, I mean, even if- Professional...
• 2:40
even if it was y- I, I could take a store credit, I guess, or whatever. I know I'm gonna be there again. It's not like you're not gonna go back- Exactly... to Cactus Club.
• 2:47
Yeah, I don't know what, uh- But I was disappointed, man. The guy from Reigning Sound, Oblivians, Compulsive Gamblers. It would've been a raucous, hopefully, garage rock set, but- Maybe they'll reschedule. Schedule.
• 2:58
Schedule. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Talk to me about that. Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats, they canceled, and they never g- never came back. Speaking of, uh- It's gone. The ship has sailed. Sam Deacon for me.
• 3:07
Speaking of garage rock, tonight being Thursday- Mm-hmm. Oh, yeah... uh, our, our good buddy Cory Bauman's playing down at Fuel as his other band that's not Future Plans. Yeah. Yeah. Like, uh, Robits, Robits.
• 3:21
Robit Sets it, right. Robits. I don't know. Two, two sets. Like, an 8:00- And then a late, like, 11:00... 8:00 and 11:00. Yeah, so, uh- It's a school night, though, man.
• 3:29
So if, if, if you- That Fuel in Milwaukee's like-... if your fine listener- Yeah... didn't know, it's, uh, it's Flat Out Friday and Mama Tried Weekend here in Milwaukee- Mama Tried...
• 3:36
which is a, it's a big motorcycle deal. And if you've not seen Cory drum before, he's well worth... He's, he's... He makes every band he plays in because he's such a tight drummer. No doubt. He's fast.
• 3:46
And there's no stops. He's all speedy. Like, he finishes, and, like, the lead singer'll say something, and then immediately he's back on the drums again and- [imitates drums] Yep. [laughs] Enough blather.
• 3:55
We're into the next one. Well, as a, as a pro- We're a punk band. As a proper punk show should be. Yeah, right. There is- No stopping... well, yeah, that's like the, the Pixies- Right...
• 4:01
when the Pixies opened for Weezer. Right. It w- all you, the only interaction in between was Kim Deal going, "Thanks" And then they'd just go right into the next song. And then right in the next tune. [laughs] Great.
• 4:11
So Sam brought in his new business cards. Ooh. They're not bone. You're now Homestead Realty. That's not where you've been forever, is it? You were with Capital or something? Nope, but I have been there for four years.
• 4:21
Okay. And they're amazing. Yeah. Actually, they apparently have the number one sales in the state. Wow. Wow. Yeah, I went to the Christmas party. I couldn't believe it. Not, not those freakish Shorewest guys?
• 4:31
[laughs] Um, for a, for a single brick-and-mortar building. Oh, right on. Mm. Okay. So Sam does real estate, uh, if you guys, uh, are in Milwaukee and you need real estate-ing. He can go beyond that.
• 4:41
He can, he can- He has a diesel that functions again, so he can actually drive someplace. I certainly could. We're, we're... So say it again for John Se- Anywhere...
• 4:48
say it for John Severson, 'cause he's the guy I was talking to last night who's into the Mercedes stuff. It's a 2008... Uh- Three. Three-... ML CDI 320. Right on.
• 4:59
[laughs] John, Sevo, that's what I'm talking about right there. [laughs] Yeah. And I love it. Twin turbo? Oh, thank God not. Okay, it's just got a single. All right.
• 5:06
No, that was, that was the, the McCann or whatever Porsche engine. That would've been really expensive. Well, there's a few. VW did one, too, and yeah, they're, they're kind of a... That's...
• 5:14
I mean, sure, they make gobs more power, but they also cost gobs more- Oh, you four-wheel wankers... I got 70,000 out of the last turbo. [laughs] I'm gonna settle for that. That's fine. So here's the thing. Thing.
• 5:24
We only got, I only have one thing in my Milwaukee Minute this week for some reason, but- Vroom, vroom, vroom... Milwaukee County's 9.7% adult diabetes rate leads Wisconsin.
• 5:34
Leads the nation, you mean, or Mil- oh, all Milwaukee? No, just Wisconsin. Yeah, Milwaukee's county leads Wisconsin, so. Well, we got the most people. I'm just thinking maybe- Drinks the most beer... maybe ride a bike.
• 5:43
Well, 9.7%- Well, yeah... percent of 100 would be, you know, nine point zero- Half. It's still a lot of people, and folks, getting on your bicycle's a- The diabetes is not good, man... damn good way to beat the beeties.
• 5:53
Yeah. Diabetes is not good. That's excellent advice. Yep. Yeah. Uh, our buddy Lloyd Seawright's gonna be on Channel 12 again.
• 6:01
Well, he was on Channel 4 and then Channel 12, and part of what they're talking about is using the water... to also, you know, do things that will help your body and- As opposed to beer.
• 6:11
[laughs] Well, I mean, in the water. Just beer. Oh, oh, you mean like dipping? Cold, cold dipping stuff? No, no, as in just swimming in it or rowing in it- Oh, sure...
• 6:18
or using it to, to work your body so you're not, uh- Excellent low impact- Yeah, yeah, yeah... exercises all... Way more than your, than us that just ride around on bikes and don't do any upper body.
• 6:28
Yeah, use, use, use your body, folks. It'll be, it'll be a good thing. [laughs] I mean, I'm keeping it at bay, 'cause I'm an old man, and it's in my family, by mostly not being- Oh, the, the diabetes? Yeah. Oh.
• 6:38
Yeah, it's a, it's a family curse I could do without. But, uh, yeah, so I, I was on medication for a while. Now I'm not, 'cause I'm not eating crappy food- Nice... and somewhat exercising a little bit, so. Nice.
• 6:52
I have a friend who had a leg removed this year. Yep, that happens. You know- My aunt lost her feet. Yeah. Wow. Aunt. And my, my buddy's, uh, his niece lost both of her legs, and she still drinks Mountain Dew. Oh.
• 7:04
Two, like, huge containers a day. Oh my God. It's like, well, that's why you lost your legs. Would you- She deserves it... why would you keep drinking- A little bit... the stuff that's- Yeah...
• 7:13
taking away your body parts? [laughs] I don't think that's a good plan. Geez. My, my friend was about to lose a finger- This is not good...
• 7:19
because of some strange disease from smoking cigarettes, and the doctor said, "I can take that pack of cigarettes away, or I can take your fingers." And he handed him the pack of cigarettes and has not had one since.
• 7:29
Well- 'Cause he's smart... yeah. That's not everybody. I mean, thank goodness. No. All right. Well, since, uh- Well, I mean- Since JK's opening the box up, [box rattling] we might as well- Oh...
• 7:38
we might as well get to the top of the hill and discuss this- All right. Let's see... this heck, this hecka bargain you got going here. Yeah. 3.88 a six-pack, man. Uh, is it Noche? Noche. Mexican Dark. Mexican Dark.
• 7:50
It seemed like it opened all right. Bueno Noche. I know. I was scared though. It's- Yeah, exactly... it's pretty tasty. Well, I was paying attention. Last week I didn't. It was like- It's, it's-... cracking. Whoa.
• 7:58
Hey, now... definitely a dark lager. I think, I think that might be, like, a good, um, best of show is all of the beers just, once, now that we're doing video, all the beers that overflow- Right... while we're recording.
• 8:10
[laughs] Like, oh. Yeah, it's got some flavor for a 4.8 beer. Right? I mean, it, it, it's hearty. I like it.
• 8:17
And like I said, I, not that it's just because it's a Mexican lager, but it sure stinks it would go well with a taco. Yes. I had s- Then again- I had th-... what doesn't? I had three tacos. Fake tacos. Fake tacos.
• 8:28
Taco Bell. From the Union? Yeah. Oh. Overstuffed soft tacos. I don't know. There's something about the Union. It's the only thing I go to in the Union, man. Yeah. I get my Taco Bell fix once a month.
• 8:37
You still get there monthly? They, they jam those tacos up like they wanna eat 'em. Once a month. That's the thing. Wow. Crunchwrap Supreme, baby. That is not portion control at all.
• 8:44
[laughs] You haven't worked there in, what, 10 years? I work there again. Oh, you are back there. [laughs] I moved. Oh my gosh. I went back last year. I'm sorry. A little over a year now again.
• 8:51
I know we've even talked about that. Yeah. And I, I apologize. It's, no, it's fantastic. Right on. Best decision I made in a long time. That's great. Tony, Tony's employment history. Yeah. 101. That's great though.
• 8:58
I've been working there for the past two years. Oh, yep. As a student. Excellent. As a student. You're paying my salary. Thank you. That's hard work. [laughs] And your salary.
• 9:04
So here's a question- I graduated from there... for Sam, our, our very special guest. Sam. Yeah. Are you still DJing or nah? Um, when I want to. When. So when I care to. So here's a... Okay. Not a nuh, but a muh.
• 9:16
This is kind of a loaded, kind of a loaded question, a little bit. Uh, coming up here in April, I believe it's the 24th. I know what you're pitching. [laughs] Uh, it's the 24th or something. Got it.
• 9:25
Is basically our 10-year anniversary from when we started Weekly Dose. Okay. So we've been doing some sort of cycling podcast for 10 years, and there was 125 of those
• 9:37
that JK and I did, along with Gomez, and there's been 242 of these that mostly- Dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun... we've all done. Dun, dun, dun, dun, dun.
• 9:44
And, um, I thought we should probably have a 10-year anniversary party. Okay. I am investigating next door at Amorphic.
• 9:51
Uh, I would like to do it on a weekend, Friday or Saturday, but they get booked up pretty good, so maybe it's a Tuesday night. I don't know. Maybe we just do a show over there instead of here.
• 9:59
Give me enough time so I can take the day off. Yeah, we're just sort of making- The next day... making- Spitballing...
• 10:04
moderate plans, and it's a little bit down the road, but, um, I also wanna do it in conjunction with some sort of, like, custom bike show. Custom... It's like the motorcycle guys do. Oh, cool.
• 10:14
You know, we get the 24 bike- Hand built?... and a couple other things there, and find some people that have... You know, I'm all about, you know- Custom fancy built Chumba? Maybe we have a Conquer bike.
• 10:23
I'll bring my Chumba. Yeah. Or just your, uh- Maybe we have a Conquer class or something... your funky Franken-bike. Yeah. So- Well, I can say I would be willing- Bring in the Huber bills...
• 10:30
to help out in any way I could, as far as, uh, DJ, bring turntables, bring a sound system. Yeah, just- Maybe, uh, talk to- That's what he's pitching at here in case you couldn't gather that right away...
• 10:37
well, I'm just saying we could have bands too. Who knows? Maybe talk to Jeff, uh, about El Rongo. Maybe. That's kind of a must, isn't it? That's where my podcast- Well, he's sort of a, he's sort of a cycling band. Oh.
• 10:45
Yeah. I know Mars pretty well too now, so. Right on. Yeah. Mars is awesome. I love those guys, and I'm sure they'd be down. I'm sorry. I would almost guarantee it. If they're available, they'll be down. I'm sorry.
• 10:54
Yeah, just we have to kind of... I need to get the spot quickly enough- Yeah... to be able to plan ahead. I love that spot too. Yeah, the spot is great. In the back. Oh, it's so good. Yeah.
• 11:01
And I would think in April, hopefully by that late in April, it's gonna be, you know, decent weather, so we could also have, like, an outside presence too. That, the outside. Yeah.
• 11:10
'Cause that, there's a big door there too. Then again- Some derbying with the bikes and the- Possibly. Yes. I remember the 100th, uh- Tuesday nights would, might work better for that than- [laughs] That was fun...
• 11:18
the 100th was one of the funner times I can remember. For more, yes, more mayhem on the weekdays. Wow, was that cool. It's probably allowable. I could see if... I can talk to Mike.
• 11:24
The guy that I rent this building from was kind enough to let us use that room, and all we had to do was pay for insurance for that night, which was, like, 150 bucks just to have that room and make sure that he wasn't killed.
• 11:34
Oh, the 100th? For the 100th? Yeah, yeah. And, and, and how long ago was that now? It was a while ago. 100 years. 10 years? Um, no, because we were podcasting there at the show. I know Sav was on it.
• 11:47
Chris Daisy had his band there. Oh, yeah. Oh, Rongo? [laughs] So I would say it was, it was eight years ago maybe. That sounds about right. What was that? It was the 100th show, wasn't it?
• 11:54
100th episode, so that'd be more than eight- Yeah. No. So-... 'cause you were doing them weekly. Yeah. Kind of, we started out every two weeks too. So it was two years. So yeah, eight years ago. You're right.
• 12:01
That was a cool space. That was eight or s- six. Yeah. That is cool. That was a cool space. That was a cool space. Bikes riding around in the space. Is that Bikesmith now? Yeah, I... It might be- Part of. Next door.
• 12:08
Yeah. It might, it might be Bikesmith, or it's really close by. All right. Yeah. Bikesmith is one east. Okay. One business pod east.
• 12:14
Oh, they're the one, they're the one with, like, the wooden- Yeah, the nice- Little, little thing over it...
• 12:18
on the ramp of the hill And they don't have the cool door, so they don't get- They may, they may, they may have that as well...
• 12:23
so they don't get yelled at for making a lot of racket and the people in the neighborhood are like, "Oh." Well, we, we made a lot of racket. That was a good- Well, yes, we were disturbing the Bernie Sanders, [laughs]
• 12:32
Bernie Sanders', uh, uh- Don't disturb that... foundation was in- [laughs]... the same building. Oh, was it? Yeah. Oh, nice. Oh, no. So they like came over and knocked, and we were like- Oh, I remember that... "Hey.
• 12:40
Hey, what's going on, man? We're with the Bernie Sanders for President campaign." Those guys were cool. It was the- So that, that'll date, oh, date it, kind of... ding, ding, ding. They want it in. You made it.
• 12:48
You made it. There's the beer, uh, a Noche Mexican dark lager. Yeah, don't open it over the board. [laughs] Don't open it over- Just in case... the computer or anything. Just in case.
• 12:56
No, it was the clown that lived in the, in the, in the- [laughs] I don't know. It was a good idea. It was a clown that lived in the warehouse come, uh, you know, loft area that was like, "Eh," and the cops came twice.
• 13:08
Oh, yeah, yeah, and I was way in the back, which was awesome. And I never got arrested. Oh, I remember the cops. 'Cause I wa- yeah, I w- I was getting all kinda like, I was this squirrely, like, "Ooh, ooh."
• 13:16
I'm like, "Wait, they have to go through about 100 people to get to me." [laughs] So you just wait patiently. Oh, yeah. I'm just gonna hang out back here. [laughs] I don't need to smoke that bad.
• 13:27
So anyway, yeah, we're gonna- There was a whole lot of illegal things going on. No, no, it was- I didn't think... yeah, it was Lloyd and Spinner... it was a pretty neat time.
• 13:33
Lloyd and Spinner were just kinda holding court with the cops, like, "Hey, hey, everybody be cool. Da, na, na, na, na." It's nice to have Spinner in between you and the cops and- Yeah, yeah... that, that helps.
• 13:41
Well, you mean like having him mouth me? I'm not sure about that. He's, he's been in jail multiple times on bike rides and stuff. Oh, I could see that.
• 13:46
So I'm not saying that- I had a nice outing with him, and yeah, I could see- [laughs]... I got out of hand. Yeah, but doesn't he, like, he like- He tried getting me up by my nuts once...
• 13:53
but won't he kinda go in, like, uh, what's his face in, uh, Andy Griffith Show? Just like, "All right, uh, let me just go in here for a few hours." Thanks guys, and- Oh, yeah. What was that drunk's name?
• 14:02
That was- [laughs]... that was hilarious. We are dating ourselves. Uh, Otis. Otis. [laughs] It was freaking Otis, in jail for the night, just wake up, let him out, go home.
• 14:10
Well, he'd, he would walk in and close the door behind him. That's right, he would. Yeah. [laughs] And it would lock, so he could be, just be in there. Yeah.
• 14:17
I need to bring it back- It's something like that for Daniels... and watch some of those episodes. What, where can you get them now, like Tubi or something? I- They're, they're somewhere...
• 14:23
yeah, there's several stations that broadcast them still. Probably Tubi. They're on YouTube if nothing else. I'm sure they're on YouTube. I'd imagine. And Tubi always works out for the obscure whatever.
• 14:31
And that- That was always my Quincy go-to. [laughs] That was sort of like, oh, th- they have ads, but really it's- Yeah... not that intrusive because there's not that many ads. That's what I've found. Yeah.
• 14:41
They're not bad at all. I know. To watch a whole movie, it's not bad. I recently, I recently turned it on, and as random as my life is, it was an episode of Mash that I had been discussing with my coworkers that morning.
• 14:54
Yeah, 'cause it's listening to you. I'm like, "Whoa." It, it's the- Yep... it's, uh- It, it's definitely-... Botnet or whatever it's called... I have the app. [laughs] You got something ready to go? Fire it up.
• 15:04
Bull to the head. Stallone. I have a story that, um, kinda relates to, uh, my phone listening to me. Okay. Um, my,
• 15:14
my friend at school was talking about how he, uh, his trip in Egypt over winter break, and he was telling us about how he was on this boat, and two, like, random river guys came up to h- came up to the boat, and, like, latched onto the boat.
• 15:29
And, like, one guy was, like, holding onto the boat with a rope while controlling the boat at the same time, and the other guy was holding up a flag with like...
• 15:35
or, like, a, a shirt or s- like, shirts or whatever, like, trying to get the, the, like, the, the Americans' attentions on board, try to, try and sell their stuff. Sure, sure. Ah, ah, ah.
• 15:45
And, uh, and then later on, like a week later, my phone, I'm just, like, scrolling through Instagram, and that exact video pops up on my phone of some guy get latched onto a boat- [laughs]...
• 15:55
trying to get people's attention in Egypt. I was like, "Seriously?" Like- [laughs]... I was just talking about that. Your phone's always listening. Big Brother knows- Your phone's always listening... where you are.
• 16:01
It could be a viral video, though. But you weren't on the... but Justin, you weren't on the boat. No, I wasn't. That was your buddy that was on the boat. It was my friend. He was telling him the story- Right...
• 16:09
and then it shows up. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. I h- yeah. I, I've... well, my phone's randomly listened to me and then transcribed it into my notes program. Some of that shit's funny. [laughs] Very funny.
• 16:20
[laughs] I'd like to- If you got nothing to hide, who cares? I'm, I'm gonna compli- I'm gonna compile a book- Right... of all of, all of Siri's listenings, I think.
• 16:27
[laughs] To conversations mostly, well, with our, our dearly departed Craig Bronx, are some of the funniest ones, but- Oh, [laughs] shit. Like- Yeah. But it just, it i- it's h- both he and I, it's not just me. Mm-hmm.
• 16:38
Like, just doing a voice memo. It's both of us, and it's transcribing both sides of the conversation, and it's just fucking it up bad. [laughs] But it is so hilarious.
• 16:46
I, I will read an excerpt after the show because I'm not sure it's, you know- Appropriate... I don't really care. I can't find it fast enough to do it now, but it's good. [laughs] And, uh,
• 16:56
you know, we're not, we're not s- we're not safe for ch- childrens anyway. Right. [laughs] I think, I don't know if you guys...
• 17:02
Have you guys ever listened to, uh, to, to Robot and, uh, Stevel's podcast called, uh, what the hell is that thing called? JK, do you know? Uh- It's called, uh, some- Stevo? Steve- Stevel Knievel. Stevel Knievel.
• 17:13
Oh, Stevel Knievel. Stevel Knievel and Robot. It's called, uh, S- oh, I- I'll hear it- I'm sorry, Stevel, I don't remember the name of it, but- It's super inappropriate When I hear it, I'll know it. But once I know.
• 17:23
But, but anyway, his, but his intro at the beginning is, "Yeah, if, if you're easily offended, this probably isn't for you." [laughs] You know, you might, we should probably do that too, but, you know, I know.
• 17:33
A disclaimer. Yes, it's one of those things- Full, full disclosure-... this is, just may not be-... we're going to drop the F-bomb like a fucking remedy This is the disclaimer. Yeah, this whole show is a disclaimer.
• 17:42
We can, we can drop it at 10 minutes into the podcast every day after- Just fuck. [laughs] Damn it. No, wait, that doesn't even count. Damn it, buddy. All right. Not saying the seven words you can't say on television.
• 17:54
Shit, piss, cock, motherfucker. Shit, piss, fuck, cunt, cocksucker, motherfucker, tits. Tits. Wait, why tits? Yeah. So Ski School and Step Into Liquid are on Tubi currently. It's always double seven. Ski School. Yes. Oh.
• 18:06
Top five classic. Oh, my goodness. It's only five. Yes. Half naked. You know what this means. You know what? Chocolate pudding. [laughs] No, we don't wanna peak too early.
• 18:15
[laughs] I'm thinking Big, Big Sexy was gonna call. I need to bring it back. Has he not called yet? You said he set his alarm. What time do you think he set the alarm for? Tomorrow? Maybe.
• 18:23
No, 'cause I told him we're doing it Tuesday. I t- 7:00? I texted him today. Probably 7:00. I, I should text him right now and tell him to call in.
• 18:29
I kind of learned that- I wanna get a little update, but- The Mardi Gras update... but before we do that, uh, Michael put a little note in the show, a note in the shows. Uh, don't bike in Florida it seems. There is a,
• 18:42
uh, a, it's a news thing about bicycle deaths per 100,000 people, which counties are the highest in the country. Out of 20 counties, how many do you think are in Florida? 20. No, but very close.
• 18:57
[laughs] Like 17 of the top 20- Well, here's your problem... for getting runted over by a car. Here, here's your problem right off the bat. You went to fucking Florida. [laughs] Don't go to Florida. Problem solved.
• 19:07
And then Louisiana. There's a couple Louisianas. That's- Charleston, South Carolina kind of surprises me. There's like, that's cackalacky, man. Well, but have you, excuse me, have you been to Charleston, South Carolina?
• 19:17
No, but it just feels like a- It's cackalacky, man. Not happening. I've had a Charleston Chew. Charleston, Charleston, made in Carolina. That's from there. Some dance, some prance. Da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da.
• 19:29
I didn't know we were gonna have a musical review here today. [laughs] It'd be nice, actually. So yeah, so yes, so, so no, no Flor- Well, I wouldn't, I don't really wanna go to Florida anyway. Right.
• 19:40
Man, my brother- The bugs, the bugs- There, I-... the bugs are too big, the weather's too hot, and the people are too stupid. I'm bare- Right... I can barely like walk- You heard about the snails... across the street...
• 19:47
the African snails that are causing car accidents? No. They're, they're inedible. Do, do tell. They're slippery.
• 19:52
They're inedible, and they're crawling across the roads, and they're so big that if you brake on them and you run one of them over, you slide. [laughs] Oh, no.
• 20:01
That's like, that's like stepping on a banana slug- And then, and, and I'll tell you right now... coming out your door in California... if you go look- 'Cause it's like a banana peel...
• 20:05
if you go look up one of these snails, they're frightening. I mean, if that thing was coming at me, I'd be like, "Medi, pause it. Get that damn thing." Yeah, but how fast can it move? The escargot. Being a snail and all.
• 20:18
Are you- Well, here's a picture... you obviously, your children are older than this now. Like the size of a softball or what? Right? Look at the size of that damn thing. Let me see that thing.
• 20:26
Oh, yeah, it's- Invasive species. They are everywhere now. That's a pretty good thing. There you go, folks. And pretty much- It's like that... nothing eats them. I could probably- No...
• 20:32
I could probably B-roll the shit out of that thing over this, but, uh- And we can't eat them either? No, they're not edible. They're, they're- Not tasty? No, humans will not- Why not?... eat them. I don't know. What?
• 20:39
That's kinda cool. Enough butter. Escargot steaks. Come on, I'm French. Yeah, right? Yeah, exactly. Those are like escargot- Sort of... yeah, those are- Steaks... small dog size. They're frightening.
• 20:46
It, it's sort of cool. Well, yeah, that's- So yeah, so you definitely don't wanna hit one on your road bike. For a slimy- Your, your-... grimy, delicious 12 pound carbon road bike.
• 20:53
Like a- And you know how you're gonna avoid that? Don't go to Florida. Don't go to Florida. We've already made this, you know- I have a relative that lives in Fort Myers-... we've already established that...
• 21:01
so I had to make a pilgrimage down there. Pretty soon, if you believe in climate change, it'll be gone anyway and we don't care. Oh, there'll be a lot of islands down there. Oh, there will be a lot of islands.
• 21:11
[laughs] Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah, e- each, uh, you know- I'm gonna find- Each, each- We should go scope out the highest point- E- each, each, each [laughs]... in each county and then just buy it. There you go.
• 21:20
[laughs] They're mostly trash heaps actually. Right. The, the tourist spots- Yeah, they're the garbage... in Florida are mostly garbage piles. Yeah. That said, each dictator- Belgian meth labs...
• 21:27
can have their own island down there then. Right. Why, uh, Banana Republic isn't just for South America anymore, folks. Bananas. It's right in, right in our fair country here of, uh- Bananas... United States 'Murica.
• 21:39
'Murica. 'Murica. Uh, I don't- Fuck yeah. Oh, here's the thing too. We talked about that Kona 50% off sale last week. Oh, I heard about that. Guess what, you leakers? You waited too long and it's already over.
• 21:49
They already sold them all? They, they wanted it to go through March 1st and they sold so many that it's already done. Wow.
• 21:54
So they hoarded out their shit, they got it rid of it really fast, and now you can't have one anymore, so you've screwed up. I'm sorry. Good for them though.
• 22:01
Hey, but, but, but, but, but, but there is a consolation prize. This is a good one. So now you buy a Kona bike- Mm... full price though. Get s- get some free pedals on that bike. Oh.
• 22:11
Consolation prize, folks, not 50% off. [laughs] Last beer. I stole it. You are a g- Is it just the plastic pedals that come on- I, I don't know.
• 22:19
I didn't really p- [laughs] No, I think they're pr- Yeah, right, they're like-... they're probably pretty decent pedals... Kmart pedals. Those chintzy, like, uh- Yeah, from what I saw it was an- Oh... all right brand.
• 22:26
Let's swing this over Justin's way. We talked about Justin's Kona last week, uh- That's right. Justin sports a Kona...
• 22:32
uh, have you, have you been riding this Kona or- Uh, I have not ridden it yet because I am waiting to put RideWrap on my frame before I even take it outside once. Is it gonna be clear or are you gonna get kickass colors?
• 22:42
Uh, it's gonna be a clear RideWrap, so I want the color of my frame to still be blue and- Gotcha... and I want it, I, I just want protection before I ride it. More, more importantly, did you FrameSaver it or T9?
• 22:54
It's a carbon bike. Oh, I'm sorry. Yeah. I forgot it was carbon fiber. Never mind. Yes, then wrap that.
• 23:00
So if you, but if you want your bike wrapped and you wanna do your very own color scheme, if you folks know, uh, Broken Spoke up there, Green Bay Way and Manitowoc, and I think they've got stuff all over- Like four more locations now...
• 23:11
all over up there. Uh, there's a fella that works there, I think his name is David, that does do custom wraps on any bike you want, and, and I think he does a spectacular job. And, you know, shout out to Jersh.
• 23:24
He's a good guy and he does a good business. Yeah, he apparently, uh, he did s- reasonably well at the Polar Roll. I was hoping, uh, maybe we'll get Luns on next week and talk Polar Roll because he didn't get DFL.
• 23:35
You mean- He got beat... he had a little kid behind him? He got beat for DFL by a 13-year-old kid. [laughs] By the way, uh, happy birthday Monday, Dave Luns. Yes, uh, belated to your- Oh.
• 23:46
Oh, I had a beer with him today at lunch, so, um- Oh... I said, "How you doing?" I saw him a bit ago. "How you doing, buddy?" I haven't seen him in ages. That dude. Um, yeah. Wawa pedals. If you s- Let me tell you this.
• 23:59
Composite Wawa pedals. If you saw, if you saw him once before- He looks the same? He hasn't changed. No. [laughs] No, not at all. Oh. We're talk- So I, I- Oh, not at all... and, so I'm at, we're at The Brick.
• 24:08
I'm with Philip and, and Bob Schaefer, and we're talking business. Talking some b- big business possibly, and he comes in and he's, you know, "Hey, David." Oh, yeah.
• 24:18
And he just starts showing pictures of shit blowing up- Wow... and weird stuff on his phone, like videos and stuff, [laughs] and now those guys are like, "We're not talking business anymore.
• 24:25
We're watching shit blow up on Dave's phone," so- That's what you get, Dave Looks awesome. Oh, he's got... It's, it's a Process, right, Justin? Yeah, it's a, it's a Process 134. Um,
• 24:39
I, the most recent thing since last week is I got my pedals put on. Um, I got Race Face's Atlas pedals in purple. Oh, yeah. So that's, that's one thing that Hayes group doesn't make, I take it, is pedals.
• 24:48
Uh- Well, Answer y- An- We, we actually do have Answer pedals... Answer, Answer does, Dave, yeah... um, nothing new has been, has come out recently. Um,
• 24:57
we do have the, the Answer ones, but I wanted the, the anodized purple, um- So there's a color, there's a- His bike tonight's got a purple chain on it, too. I think he likes purples...
• 25:04
you do know that amongst people I am known as Mr. Purple. [laughs] You are orange everything. What do you mean? We, Mr. Pr- What? Mr. Potato Head. I've never known you as anything but orange.
• 25:13
Why do I, why I gotta, why do I gotta be Mr. Pink? Sounds too much like Mr. Fag. [laughs] I wanna be Mr. Purple. You like pink. Mr. Purple's on another job. [laughs] It's a Reservoir Dogs or- Steve Buscemi... yeah, yeah.
• 25:26
Yeah, exactly. Yeah. So I'm Mr. Purple [laughs] in Dave's phone since that movie came out. Oh my God, that's funny. Because I was purple guy back then, and purple and orange are compli- Do you have a purple bike?
• 25:35
Yeah, purple and orange are complementary colors. I know I'm aware of that... so, you know. I have two purple Schlicks. Uh, another thing I wanna add- And semi-purple hair... about- And currently purple hair.
• 25:43
Let Justin talk, you fucking- If-... taking over the airway...
• 25:46
if anyone listening has, uh, ever had to buy a new crankset or is going to be buying a new crankset in the future, make sure you check the offset on your chain ring before you buy that crankset. Did you make a mistake?
• 26:00
Yeah, when I bought my crankset, um, I got the SRAM AXS, uh, XO, X01 crankset, and I got a six millimeter offset instead of a three millimeter offset, and, uh, it was less, it was, like, less than or within a millimeter of my frame touching.
• 26:19
So yeah, you gotta dial in your chain line too, or your shit doesn't shift right. Yeah. But yeah, you definitely don't- So I had to order a new one, and that came in, yes, or- You don't wanna [mimics chain rattling]
• 26:27
up the carbon fibers. Yeah. You know? No, that's no good at all. No, that would not be, not be great. Oh, man, so, um- That ruined the wrap. Oh, man... what else we get on this thing?
• 26:36
I don't think we have anything else on this thing. Uh, there's not much fat bike racing. I don't... The Fat Bike Birkie's gonna happen. Well, what's- So, uh- Yeah, did Birkie happen yet? Is it this week?
• 26:44
Uh, it would be this weekend. I don't know what- Yeah... uh, I saw, I did not hear, Ben Popp was on TV talking about it. But he was muted, so I didn't hear what they were actually saying. That's kind of a bummer.
• 26:56
My guess- 50th anniversary... yeah, which they had a 50th anniversary, like, two years ago, but COVID happened, so they had to have another one now even though it's 52 years or something. Oh, okay. All right.
• 27:05
So they're gonna have to maybe postpone that again. Oh. I, I know they were making snow. I'm sure it's not what people expect because that's, that is a heroic event- All the people plan, yeah...
• 27:15
for many, many years, and now it's just- Well, people plan months and months for that... and come from, like, far away places like- Very, yeah... Norway and Sweden and Finland and stuff. Mm-hmm.
• 27:24
Yeah, 'cause, uh- Mother Russia... Mike in Berta, Mike, had posted, uh, "March 9th, let's roll. Fat Bike Birkie." Oh yeah, that, yeah, Fat Bike Birkie will, will happen for sure. Yeah, Fat Bike Birkie will happen.
• 27:33
It's a matter of what it'll be. Will it be on- Whether there's snow or not.
• 27:36
Yeah, and they can- Right, it's the poor cross-country skiers that have been doing it forever that are getting- Yeah, and, and Szlabowski already said that it doesn't really matter if they use the Birkie trail and it's sloppy and crappy because they don't really care on the main, you know, the main Birkie trail because they're mostly gonna use it when it snows.
• 27:53
So they're not worried about it. Mm. It's not like a mountain bike trail in your neighborhood where if you use it when it's muddy and you screw it all up, you're messing it up for everyone. Yeah.
• 28:02
This is, like, one day a year bikes can ride on that trail, so they're not... Or two, 'cause you got your F- Fat Tire Festival in, in fall. But, uh, yeah, that's what I'm saying. Anybody got anything?
• 28:15
We can get the hell outta here. Big Sexy slept through his alarm apparently, so we may have to talk [laughs] to him next week.
• 28:20
[laughs] Seems like he probably is still recovering from Mardi Gras, 'cause that probably is still going [laughs] from last weekend in Madison.
• 28:28
Yeah, I think that, I think that would be a hangover that you could hold onto for a few days, yeah. Yeah, you could grip that thing for a while. Rip it and grip it. Oh, I, I would think so. Gripping and ripping.
• 28:39
Yeah, Flat Out Friday. To me that sound fun. Yeah. [laughs] Having a hangover? Yeah. [laughs] It's not that great. I, I don't recommend it that much. Yeah. All right, Justin, thank you for coming.
• 28:48
Thank you for having me. Let Tony, uh, tell Tony to let us know next time so we can be ready for him, Tony. Yeah, I spaced it, okay? You're right. Give me a break. I had a busy day at work. Oh, yeah, doing what?
• 28:56
Sitting around watching Tubi? [laughs] I do not watch Tubi at work. I did watch a killer video by the Oakley Dokleys. I can only watch Netflix. [laughs] Oh, I know them.
• 29:05
So Molly, Molly wanted a bottle of wine, and I'm like, "What can I get you?" And she's like, "Something white." So I had to send her the link to White Wine Spritzer [laughs] by the Oakley Dokleys.
• 29:15
Make something like this. And she of course laughed hysterically 'cause she does, because she's married to me, knows who the Oakley Dokleys are. Yeah. And she knows White Wine Spritzer the song.
• 29:24
And she does know White Wine Spritzer, which- I think we just talked about the Oakley Dokleys last show or two shows ago... 'cause I fucking love them. Something about- They broke up, though. Something- We did.
• 29:31
It was about getting Matt Groening's signature. Oh, right. Yeah. It was, yeah, it was last week. So that's why they got, that's why they ripped his shit off so that they could get it on the cease and desist. Right. Yeah.
• 29:41
And- Well, maybe we'll get Front 242's signature- So they're done?... on our cease and desist. Yeah. Well, they're, they're touring in- I can't believe they're done... in Europe right now. Ooh. Front 242.
• 29:49
I was gonna say not the Oakley Dokleys 'cause they broke up. Well, we're on Front 242 now. Oh, we are. Dun, dun-dun-dun. [laughs] I saw them with Black Sabbath. Yeah. See, that would be the best two band- And Lachi...
• 30:00
Madison? Nope. No. It was Turner. Our very own Turner Hall. And I remember- Oh, I can't believe I missed that... this gentleman was there. All right, everybody. Well, thanks for listening this week.
• 30:09
Hopefully, uh, we can get Big Sexy next week. But, uh- David Clark's not relevant... anywhere. [laughs] Cosplay never dies, man. Oh, you know what? Let's, uh, I got this thing here.
• 30:20
[upbeat music] Oh, it's so normal sounding. Dun, dun, dun.
• 30:29
  [upbeat music]
