- 0:29Bonus episode This week we have Mr. Corey Walton from Aid
- 0:34Arbitration joining Josh and James and myself.
- 0:38How are you this evening, Corey? I'm doing quite well.
- 0:41I'm glad to be here finally. It's it's been quite a chore
- 0:44getting on here, hadn't it? It it definitely has it.
- 0:47Definitely. Has.
- 0:51Like James said earlier, he says why do you, why did you only
- 0:53give me 10 minutes notice? Because I said you're right, you
- 0:57I called you, you said give me 10 minutes.
- 1:00I said because I just found out for a fact for a fact 10 minutes
- 1:03ago. Right he.
- 1:05Was like, am am I the last to find out?
- 1:07I'm like, well, I had to make sure Kristen was available
- 1:10because she does a recording most of the time.
- 1:15Yep. I ran right down, got the
- 1:16computer booted up and said we're doing this, let's go.
- 1:22But no, it it's great to finally be able to connect with you,
- 1:24Corey. I know myself, James, Josh, and
- 1:28several of our listeners also listen to you on the regular.
- 1:32And let me tell you from the beginning of listening to you,
- 1:35when I was still a local steward at the time, I learned a lot
- 1:39more from you than I ever did any of my steward trainings from
- 1:43my own union. I appreciate you saying that.
- 1:47We've I've been through a couple of things.
- 1:50Oh yeah. It's amazing to listen to you
- 1:54because to hear the things that you're going through.
- 1:57And then maybe a few months down the road, it turns right over
- 2:00and comes right to the rural side.
- 2:02So they learn from you guys, give it to us, They learn from
- 2:06us and give it to you guys. Yeah, they definitely are
- 2:11creatures of habit. And so it's all about that
- 2:15money. It's all about that money.
- 2:17So they're going to abuse whichever craft they can.
- 2:19And unfortunately, we're the ones that make the money.
- 2:24Yeah, whoever rolls over first is the one that starts the
- 2:26process. That's right, go.
- 2:29Ahead Josh. I had a question for you Corey
- 2:32and I I know you've had held every position in the
- 2:38stewardship on your side, right. And on your side in the NALC the
- 2:46Stewart can initiate A grievance.
- 2:49So that gives you as the Stewart the opportunity to investigate
- 2:54for 14 days before you actually file on on our side.
- 3:02The grievant has to actually initiate it, which only leaves
- 3:06you that 10 day window from the time the grievance assigned to
- 3:11you having to meet. Yeah.
- 3:14Do you have any suggestions or Eddie Stewart's that we have
- 3:20listening to help make a benefit of this because of?
- 3:27The 10 of the 10 days. Of the 10 days versus 24 days.
- 3:32Yeah, yeah. So how does y'all's?
- 3:35Does y'all's request for information work about the same
- 3:38as ours? We put in request for
- 3:41information and then so y'all have this kind of the same
- 3:43thing, right? Yeah, we give them written
- 3:46request saying this. I'm looking for ABC and D.
- 3:49And have a reasonable amount of time to get you the information
- 3:52that you requested. I want you requested.
- 3:55You're officially on the clock. That goes with education.
- 4:00You know, if you know what you're dealing with.
- 4:02I know rule is a lot different as far as the city letter care
- 4:05craft. Both my parents are retired rule
- 4:07carriers and so I grew up with that.
- 4:11But how their route adjustments were done was a lot different
- 4:14than ours. And I don't know with y'all
- 4:15going through the same thing we do if that's changed or not.
- 4:18But you have to know y'all's contract and that way when a
- 4:24carrier comes to, you know exactly what you're going to
- 4:26request. You have those ready, you put
- 4:29that request in. While you're waiting on that
- 4:31information, you're already formulating what your
- 4:33contentions are going to be. Y'all's discipline is very much
- 4:37the same as ours. I imagine y'all don't do
- 4:41overtime, right? Y'all have overtime.
- 4:44No, we don't have an overtime list.
- 4:46We have release day work list. Right.
- 4:50Saying so. That's a lot different than us.
- 4:52Yeah, the only time we have overtime is the three weeks from
- 4:59the first Saturday in December and then three weeks after.
- 5:02So this year it ended, what, the 22nd Friday?
- 5:06The 22nd. And that's if you go over your
- 5:10evaluation for the week you get paid overtime.
- 5:15Right. But the one of our most of that
- 5:18is they have you know management has the right to send you home
- 5:22early or tell you not to come in on a day if you're going to be
- 5:27over, right, depending on how much you're going to be over,
- 5:31but they have to pay you for the for the evaluation.
- 5:36I like Article 8 is our overtime article.
- 5:40So that's one of our most contentious was so y'all don't
- 5:42have to deal with that, but at any time we're dealing with the
- 5:46grants procedure. It's all about education.
- 5:49You know, you've got to know your topic and once you get that
- 5:53information, request in when you're hustling to get that your
- 5:58contentions where you're going to go, then you're going to get
- 6:00this information, you're going to look at that.
- 6:03What else are we going to need to support our position?
- 6:06You know, when it gets an arbitration, it's all about the
- 6:09contention, it's all about the evidence.
- 6:11And so you know the only thing I can say about as far as 10 days,
- 6:1614 days, you got to make take advantage of every single bit.
- 6:19A lot of times where we have problems are stewards, are so
- 6:24anxious to get that grievance in that they don't take advantage
- 6:27of that full 14 days and they will put an information request,
- 6:32get that 8190, send that up no contention and leave that up to
- 6:37the formal step A I'm always an advocate of taking advantage of
- 6:42that full 14 days. Make sure that everything that
- 6:45you need you have and that way the formal aid doesn't have to
- 6:48do all of our work. Y'all have Step 2 right.
- 6:51Yeah. Yes, we.
- 6:53Have and then step three. Yeah, yeah, we got information,
- 6:58yeah, we got informal, formal B team arbitration.
- 7:01Y'all says step one, Step 2. And so, you know, I don't know
- 7:07if that was the question you asked, but it to me every single
- 7:12bit is about education. It it it was because it's if
- 7:17you're lucky the grievant will call you and tell you or you
- 7:21know catch in the office if you have a shot at local shop
- 7:24Stewart and say hey management's done, you know this is what
- 7:29management's done. So that gives you that week or
- 7:34two for them to finally fill out the 8191 which is our grievance
- 7:38step one form. Right.
- 7:42But if they don't, and they just fill out the grievance form and
- 7:48hand it to you, that starts your 10 day clock.
- 7:51Yeah. And so Minds was made of where?
- 7:57How? By the Grievant.
- 8:00The grievant has to have a discussion with management, say
- 8:05Mr. Walton. Last week I worked on Route 812
- 8:11and 3:00, but I only got paid for one and two and he says #
- 8:17sand. And I say, Mr. Walton, I need an
- 8:218191 please, because I'm going to grieve that you didn't pay me
- 8:25for that day, whatever the situation is.
- 8:29Yep. I had no idea that that's how
- 8:32that happened. That's crazy.
- 8:35Yes, because we. When it has their informal
- 8:38conversation with management, if management, if they can work it
- 8:42out with management, they're great.
- 8:44If not then the grievant has to file the the the grievance
- 8:52saying management has to initial and date it on the date that it
- 8:56you know and then check you know say yes or no it was timely
- 9:00within the 14 days of the occurrence.
- 9:03I had no idea that. So that's nuts.
- 9:05And so because us we just go to the steward, you know, we said
- 9:09hey, they worked so and so yesterday I was supposed to work
- 9:13and then here we go. But y'all have to go up to the
- 9:15supervisor and initiate agreements.
- 9:17Yep, yes. Damn, that's crazy.
- 9:21These, this audience, are those the people that are listening.
- 9:24Yes, they are. Is fed up, is that Ron?
- 9:27Is that Ron speaking? That is, that is Ron.
- 9:33He's a friend of ours too. He's a friend of everybody's.
- 9:37I like that guy, man. He's got a he's got a great
- 9:39show. Oh, yes.
- 9:40So far the comment, the comments and there have been evening.
- 9:45Mr. Milton Union is in the House.
- 9:49I'm still trying to play catch up on the pod.
- 9:53Thanks for being here Corey. And then fed up says Corey.
- 9:56What's up, brother? Awesome episode with.
- 10:03I'm assuming that was supposed to be fed up, no?
- 10:05Work. Yeah, no Fed up.
- 10:07Ron just did an episode with Fed Hurt, which is a federal they
- 10:11deal with federal Adobe VCP. It was a really good episode.
- 10:14OK. I haven't heard that one yet.
- 10:17I don't see. These thank you, Ron says.
- 10:20Thank you. Hands together.
- 10:23Appreciate that. Lots more to come Fed up is
- 10:27great. Yay, this is awesome.
- 10:30About time. And they've been looking forward
- 10:33to you, Corey, that's for sure. I know we have a lot of our
- 10:36listeners listen to you as well. Ron says Corey is the godfather
- 10:40of this movement. I don't know about that, but
- 10:44we're trying to get some shit started.
- 10:46I know that I wish and I know that half your most of yours
- 10:50probably going to think I'm crazy, but I wish that the NELC
- 10:55would just swallow up the rural cares union and we all become a
- 11:00a huge union. I wish that we would have done
- 11:02that. I know that when my dad was a
- 11:04rural carrier he begged them to do that, to join in with NELC,
- 11:10but I wish they. Would or have to go outwardly?
- 11:16Y'all, y'all like your evaluated routes, right?
- 11:20Yeah, I like getting done. I like getting done in seven
- 11:22hours and getting paid for 9 and going home, yes.
- 11:25That's a great thing, my dad, my dad was like that when I first
- 11:30started. It was 1988 as a rule carrier.
- 11:35I started as a rule carrier and started with my dad and we work
- 11:40together and I'd have pulled my route down.
- 11:44I was leaving, he was coming back.
- 11:47That's how fast he was and so, but you know he'd be done with
- 11:51his route by 11:00, 11/30 and out here in Franklin, TN, but
- 11:57probably getting paid. Till three or four?
- 12:01Yeah, and my mom, she worked in Bellevue and so.
- 12:05But yeah, I worked with my dad for a little while as a rural
- 12:08care and then I moved over kind of just doing odd things.
- 12:13Clerk craft, janitorial craft. And then became ATE in 1992 and
- 12:20the rest was history. I was a senior character that.
- 12:23If you don't mind me asking, was there a reason you decided to
- 12:27leave the world craft? This is crazy.
- 12:30Well, what is the reason I should say?
- 12:33I had. I was married in 1990 and I'm
- 12:40since been divorced and but my we're engaged.
- 12:45At the time I was a royal carrier and my father-in-law at
- 12:51the time, he was my future father-in-law at the time he was
- 12:56in management and he was came in as the postmaster of Franklin.
- 13:02That's where I was. And so back then I don't know if
- 13:06y'all still do it this way, but you had to register and you had
- 13:09names on that register. That call in send me 10 names.
- 13:14Y'all still do it like that? No, not.
- 13:17Really. No.
- 13:19Yeah, the postmaster would call down to the register and said,
- 13:21hey, send me 10 names and I've got a, you know, 2 routes open.
- 13:26I need 10 names that interview those ten names and then they
- 13:29would two people would be selected.
- 13:32Well, I was already working there.
- 13:33I was doing Route 7. The guy's name was JC Fox and I
- 13:37was doing his route. His route was 120 miles long and
- 13:43it had no stops. It was all country.
- 13:46And so I was already doing the route and he called in to
- 13:52register. My name was at the very top and
- 13:55he did not hire me. He said he didn't want him to
- 13:59look like nepotism and my parents hated him ever since.
- 14:04So you were in? TRC at the time.
- 14:08I was ARCA, I believe is what they called it back then.
- 14:14Real care associate, right? What was it RC or T or TRC?
- 14:19Did you have to take a a week break?
- 14:22No, no. It was an RCA.
- 14:24He took my test and passed the test.
- 14:27Got the names. He he did not pick me.
- 14:31When he didn't pick me then I had to leave.
- 14:34That went over to the to the janitorial kind of clerk craft.
- 14:39But I worked at the jail from about 1990 to 96 and that was
- 14:45because he didn't select me and so I had to go work there at
- 14:48nights, was working at the post office during the day and did
- 14:52that for six years. All because he didn't pick me up
- 14:56that register. My name was the first one, so it
- 14:58wouldn't have been like he would have said nepotism because he
- 15:01wouldn't have to. But anyway, this is a Long story
- 15:02short, say that's the reason why I'm a city carer today.
- 15:08All right. Like I said, I was just curious
- 15:11and I know a lot of people probably be like at least from
- 15:15our listeners would be like if he had the best job delivering
- 15:20why would he give that up and. Go on.
- 15:22To the other side. Yeah, I loved it.
- 15:25I loved it. You know, I loved coming in.
- 15:26I drove my dad's station wagon, you know, I had to sit on the
- 15:29right hand side and drive with the left foot, you know, and
- 15:32steer. And he had a blue, blue station
- 15:34wagon. Yep, that's what I delivered
- 15:37with and out of. And The Judds thinking, the
- 15:42country music group, The Judds were on my route, had a huge
- 15:45farm out there. But I was way, way, way out in
- 15:49the sticks, man. Way out in the sticks.
- 15:52And but I loved it, 'cause you just turned the radio on is
- 15:55during the summer. It was fantastic.
- 15:57Just out there. It was peaceful and stuff.
- 15:58And yeah, he didn't hire me. So here I am.
- 16:02Yeah. Hey, you know, it, it, you know
- 16:05it. Things work out in weird ways.
- 16:07That's just. How it Yeah, here I am.
- 16:09Here I am starting to movement. Exactly.
- 16:12And and we're and we're kind of doing the same thing on the
- 16:15rural side and you know we're we're we're catching the heat
- 16:18from our national officers as well for doing it.
- 16:21As you know, the four of us lost were decertified as local
- 16:26stewards because of the podcast. I remember that.
- 16:28Yeah, I remember that. They've they've not done that
- 16:32for me yet. We've got three of us that are
- 16:36actually going to be running for national office this year and.
- 16:40What? Yeah.
- 16:41Myself going for vice president, James is going for Director of
- 16:46Stewart operations and Bill, who couldn't be with us because I
- 16:50believe he's still working, is going, running for president
- 16:53again. Well, that's fantastic.
- 16:56That's really good. Anything I can do to help you, I
- 16:58will. If you want to come on, I'll
- 17:00help you. I don't know how many people
- 17:01listen from the real care craft, but a lot I would.
- 17:05Say a lot. A lot.
- 17:06You know, I I don't hold back on my national leaders if you ever
- 17:16listen. Oh, yes, every, every.
- 17:19Monday I just. I just cannot tolerate the
- 17:24cowardice that's taken over our union man.
- 17:26I don't know how y'all's is, but I think we've talked a little
- 17:29bit about this. Before.
- 17:31But yeah, it's just, it's unbelievable, the cowardice
- 17:36that's overtaking my union. And I cannot stand it.
- 17:40I can't stand it. But so anyway, I just have a
- 17:43different way of vocalizing that.
- 17:46Oh, and. I appreciate it because.
- 17:49There's Go ahead, Josh. I listen and get all fired up on
- 17:53Mondays. Yeah, same thing.
- 17:55I'll be out on my route and you'll be saying something and
- 17:58it reflects to what we're going through on the rural side.
- 18:00And I'll be like, yes, Amen, absolutely.
- 18:05Well, that's that's great. A lot of things can't take the
- 18:10the language, but you know when you get fired up, Hell, just you
- 18:13know how it is. Oh, yes.
- 18:16We do. For for anyone in the audience,
- 18:20if you had a question, I would say put the question in the chat
- 18:24now because Corey does have the he took time out of his busy
- 18:28schedule to join us this evening.
- 18:31He has things he has to get back to this evening before he goes
- 18:34to bed, so. Yeah, I can answer some
- 18:36questions though if they want to ask him.
- 18:38I'll do the best I can, but yeah, I know we've been trying
- 18:46to get on here for a while and my schedule is crazy and.
- 18:51We completely understand that we're all pretty flexible, so.
- 18:55Yeah, you know, for the most part, you're.
- 18:57Flexible And it's, you know and it's or if you were available
- 19:02Kristen for whatever reason might not be available.
- 19:05Yeah. So we could have you come on,
- 19:09but without Kristen to be able to actually record it, and
- 19:14without enough advance notice, we have someone else that does
- 19:17recording and editing for us other than Kristen, which helps.
- 19:20Right, right. So we just kind of all scramble
- 19:23to get on here at the same time. Oh yeah.
- 19:25Yeah. I got you.
- 19:29Let me ask this question to you, Corey, as somebody who formerly
- 19:35was a rural carrier but is a city carrier.
- 19:37Looking at the rural craft from the outside, what do you see as
- 19:42the biggest issue pertaining to rural carriers today?
- 19:48I think it's y'all's leadership, your representation, you know,
- 19:52that's that's kind of the thing that city carriers always talk
- 19:56about is the lack of, I don't know how you'd put it, it goes
- 20:02all the way back to when my dad was a rural carrier, you know,
- 20:05it's it's that even even your arbitration process.
- 20:11You know, it's dysfunctional at best.
- 20:13And I just think that, you know, with y'all saying that y'all
- 20:17going to have some people run for national leadership.
- 20:19I think it starts there. Y'all are kind of the not rural
- 20:24carriers because you know, I love rural carriers like I love
- 20:27city carriers. To me you're you're all family,
- 20:29but it's laughable Y'all's representation and so that's the
- 20:35difference. I think the NLC even though you
- 20:38know I talk about our leadership here are are filled with cowards
- 20:43and I do believe that I mean we are notorious for for fighting
- 20:48and I think that's the difference between us.
- 20:50You know I may disagree with that but you know I I think that
- 20:55it's kind of the the stigma is that rural carriers unions
- 20:59probably the weakest of all the unions in the in the Postal
- 21:03Service. And I I think that y'all need to
- 21:05get some, you know, some fire breathers up there that that
- 21:09changed that narrative and sounds like you're going to do
- 21:12that if that answers your question.
- 21:16Few more few more comments every episode.
- 21:20I listen to Corey since last May.
- 21:22Definitely lots of useful info. Started with all the hip
- 21:26training. Nailed our office for falsify
- 21:30falsification. Today they made us watch and do
- 21:33our videos this year. Loli was first.
- 21:37Did y'all have an issue with your hip training as well?
- 21:40Last year, Well, yes, I. Noticed that and this year as of
- 21:45yet they have not entered anything in the in Hero, but
- 21:50last year you know they they actually I filed on it as a
- 21:55class action for the whole city and you know for the whole
- 22:00installation not just my station and we got that they would
- 22:09perform the training by a certain date or all carriers
- 22:15would get a payout of and I forget what it was $25 or so.
- 22:18Well, that that's still good though.
- 22:20That's still good. I just didn't know how but.
- 22:23The thing is, the last, the last day on the, you know, for the
- 22:27settlement was the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.
- 22:33And they had us all standing there that Wednesday morning
- 22:35watching these videos with ATV plugged into the computer.
- 22:39That sounds about right. All right.
- 22:41We do have one question I I'm. Going to go ahead.
- 22:45Well I was, I was getting to that frequency.
- 22:47Also has a had had a question? So.
- 22:52In. Go ahead.
- 22:53I got it in our. Office say I was going to read.
- 22:57I was going to read giraffe's comment and then go to that.
- 23:01OK, go ahead. In 30 minutes, I'm 30 minutes
- 23:05away from the office. That Mister Gates passed away in
- 23:08last in the heat. So that particular episode hit
- 23:12me. Yeah, and that was a tough one
- 23:15there. Here, here's the question.
- 23:19In our office, a rural ox is divided to help the three city
- 23:23routes make their eight hours. How much of that is normal on
- 23:28the City side? We should be grieving that.
- 23:32Both sides should. Be grieving that.
- 23:34Absolutely. That that's so rampant right now
- 23:38across this country where cities doing rural rural's doing city
- 23:42because they refuse to properly staff this place and we help
- 23:46them out when we don't grieve that.
- 23:47You know if you started busting an ass on that where these
- 23:51grievances where these monetary payouts get to to a certain
- 23:55point they're going to staff these place properly.
- 23:57What incentive do they have to staff these places properly if
- 24:01they can just make rural go do city city go do rural.
- 24:04You know I've had episode after episode about city doing rural
- 24:07work that's a grievance and a lot of these places don't even
- 24:11touch it but it just, you know that don't even sound right.
- 24:15You know we we split a rural aux up so city have 8 hours that
- 24:19that doesn't make sense. You know, and so those things
- 24:23should be grieved. But yeah, we we we bail them out
- 24:26of properly staffing these places when we don't do that to
- 24:31me all. Right, here's a really good one.
- 24:38Well, Frequency responded that it's been grieved and grieved
- 24:40and yeah, that will have to come down to a non compliance
- 24:42grieving grieve. Yeah, that's that.
- 24:44You're going to have to ask. I don't know how.
- 24:47How well do y'all escalate y'all's remedies?
- 24:50Do y'all have good payouts or do y'all?
- 24:52Is that something? Y'all.
- 24:53We we have a a national steward system that likes to settle for
- 24:57language. See that right there, just
- 25:01that's devastating. You know we.
- 25:05Have this the same issue as you guys have with the.
- 25:11Don't do it again, shall not. Yeah, God.
- 25:17Will comply please. Yeah, yeah.
- 25:20Will comply. Yeah, we implore you to stop.
- 25:25But they and that's solely the Postal Service telling both
- 25:30telling all the parties we will no longer do a cease and says
- 25:33and every single one of them flinched and that's all that is.
- 25:36I know that for a fact. Yeah, here's a really good one
- 25:41here. Is there a way, in your opinion,
- 25:43to bring all the crafts together who do a nationwide protest or
- 25:48rally to really inform the public the challenges that the
- 25:52postal workers face on a daily basis?
- 25:55You have to say your leadership and ours will not do it, that
- 25:59they will tell you they're not going to do it.
- 26:01They think that it does nothing. It does no good.
- 26:05That's what our leader has told us.
- 26:07You know, they talk about these nationwide rallies.
- 26:12You know, they will tell you you don't get anything from that.
- 26:16It's because they're too damn lazy to to get that going.
- 26:20And I thought we should. When Brother Gates died, we
- 26:23talked about that. I thought that we should be out
- 26:26in the damn streets in force when that happened and to find
- 26:29out, you know, when people talk about the hip training, well,
- 26:33you don't need to tell me to be safe.
- 26:34And you know I know to be safe. It's that's not what it's about.
- 26:38The fact is they they falsified this training that they're
- 26:41required to do. When our brother Gates passed
- 26:43away, what they do, they came out and said, well, he had the
- 26:46hip training, you know, so we did our part.
- 26:49Well, that's a lie and that's the reason you should have been
- 26:51in the streets. But unfortunately, our leaders,
- 26:54I don't know about yours, but our leaders are dead set against
- 26:57it and that's the reason it will never happen.
- 27:01I. Would believe that ours would
- 27:03be. Too, as a falsification was on
- 27:07both sides of the fence. I don't, I don't even think,
- 27:12except for, you know, the rural carriers that listen to your
- 27:14podcast, I don't think anyone really did anything.
- 27:18Yeah. In regards to grieving it.
- 27:21Yeah, yeah. Well, they're already falsifying
- 27:24ours already. So, you know, people are putting
- 27:27up on social media. You know, here's mine been
- 27:30falsified. I wasn't there.
- 27:32So, you know, they didn't learn. But you know, when, when we let
- 27:34them get away with stuff, why would you?
- 27:38So Corey, here's some highlights because I went to our Southwest
- 27:42Area Conference this past weekend, some highlights from
- 27:46our President in his speech about what's coming to the
- 27:50Postal Service. The first one is that the S&D CS
- 27:55are really nice. You're going to have brand new
- 27:58cases, you're going to have more relief carriers to cover routes,
- 28:02you're going to have all these electric, new electric vehicles
- 28:05to drive and stuff like that. The other side was you got to,
- 28:09you got to read the Dejoy's 10 year plan for the Postal Service
- 28:13because that's what's going to happen and we're going to become
- 28:17the United States Parcel Service.
- 28:19Basically you said we're going to become a parcel delivery
- 28:22service. We're no longer going to be
- 28:23delivering the mail. Right.
- 28:26Well, I tell you what, with the volume we've had lately, I can
- 28:29see that. I mean, we've had no mail.
- 28:31I don't know what they're doing, but surely people just didn't
- 28:35stop overnight using the Postal Service as far as mail.
- 28:38But yeah, they've sold us on it. They've sold our leaders on it.
- 28:42So there. And it may be the greatest thing
- 28:44that's ever happened to the Postal Service and it may save
- 28:46us and it's the best thing since sliced bread.
- 28:49But I know that my carriers are having to drive an extra hour
- 28:52now to work and I don't like that.
- 28:56I don't like anything that negatively effects my people and
- 28:59that does. But you know, we have no say.
- 29:02So I guess we didn't have no push back against it, but I
- 29:06guess that's the future. Well, and one of the other
- 29:09things you were saying that came out in in SWAC James was for the
- 29:16past two years we've had an MOU on and off that they've signed
- 29:21saying that regular carriers can assist on a voluntary basis to
- 29:27help on other routes or Sunday Amazon delivery.
- 29:35And our President said that one of the things they want to try
- 29:38and negotiate into our new contract, which will start in
- 29:42the next couple weeks, assuming you guys wrap up or move it to
- 29:47an arbitrator, is that he wants to get that written to the
- 29:52contract. What's the likeliness that
- 29:57management's going to just leave it at?
- 30:00Are you going to volunteer if it's actually in the contract,
- 30:04not an MOU? Is that a question or no?
- 30:12Yeah, in your opinion. Yeah, I I'll say this, I think
- 30:19that it's funny. I come on our side.
- 30:22We're talking about our new contract, Article 8, which is
- 30:26our overtime. They're going to revamp that,
- 30:29and they're saying that they're going to start doing Article 8
- 30:32differently. If you want to work on your day
- 30:33off and don't want to work overtime the rest of the week,
- 30:36that's how they're going to do it.
- 30:37They didn't abide by it beforehand.
- 30:40Oh wait, I don't care how many times you change Article 8,
- 30:43they're not going to abide by it.
- 30:44They didn't abide by it before. What makes you think they're
- 30:47going to abide by it now? There's no incentive to abide by
- 30:50any signed agreement. And so anytime y'all have that,
- 30:53what's the incentive to abide by that?
- 30:56And we've not, we don't have anything in place to make
- 31:00management abide by any MOU to make them abide by anything.
- 31:05So you know when you have a signed agreement that managers
- 31:08don't care about your MO U is the same way.
- 31:14Yeah, I I completely agree on. That that's you know I and you
- 31:23know and that's the one thing with with the way our system
- 31:27works is having our resolutions our our non binding resolutions
- 31:32that go up to national and pass that's supposed to be our wish
- 31:34list that we wish for them to negotiate for contracts.
- 31:38Well, then they come out and say, you know, we had, I don't
- 31:41know, however many hundreds of them, but we're only going to,
- 31:44you know, 6 or 20 or 30. But here, this MOU we've had
- 31:49out, off and on for the last two years, we want to put that in
- 31:52there, Yeah. No.
- 31:57Yeah, it's funny. It's funny because somebody did
- 32:00put a resolution up for that at two National last year or this
- 32:04past national and it failed and they're still going to try and
- 32:09push it through even though the Craft and their delegation told
- 32:13them not to. Yeah, but that sounds about
- 32:16right. What do you think on do you
- 32:21think your guys's contract negotiations may go into
- 32:24arbitration? It's looking like that.
- 32:28I don't know. I don't know what's going on
- 32:32with that. I mean, that's the big question
- 32:34that everybody always raises on social media.
- 32:37You know, what's up with the contract?
- 32:39Our president refuses to tell the truth, so we don't know
- 32:42what's going on. They said they had an
- 32:44arbitrator. You know, ours, you have 3
- 32:46arbitrators, one's ours, one's the postal services, and then
- 32:50you have a neutral arbitrator. And it's ultimately his
- 32:52decision, his or her decision. And so we've been waiting all
- 32:56this time for an arbitrator. We were told weeks ago we have
- 33:00an arbitrator selected now. It's supposed to come out in a
- 33:03couple of weeks, but this has been going on for months and
- 33:06months. So to tell you the truth, I have
- 33:09no idea what's going on with it. It could, you know, they could
- 33:13have a tentative agreement, come down here any day now, but it's
- 33:17looking like it's going to arbitration.
- 33:20They keep saying the right things.
- 33:22I just don't believe anybody. And so I have no idea what's
- 33:26going on with the contract, contract negotiations.
- 33:30You know, you have those that those puppets that I always talk
- 33:33about, you know, it's stalled because the Postal Service with
- 33:37their money, well, obviously that's what that's the biggest
- 33:40going to be. The biggest hiccup every time
- 33:42you go to, you know, when you talk about collective bargaining
- 33:45is money. And so you get all these other
- 33:48things out of the way, you make agreements on all these other
- 33:52things and you say we cannot agree to the financial package
- 33:57and so we'll go to arbitration. Shouldn't take you over a year
- 34:02to do that. And that's where we're at.
- 34:04You know, we're already over a year.
- 34:06People are like, well, you know, you just need to be patient.
- 34:08I don't want to be patient. You know, they always tell us
- 34:11that when we always, when the agreement's signed, they're
- 34:14already working on the next one. And why is it taking over a
- 34:17year? We hadn't gone to arbitration
- 34:21yet. And so it's just frustrating.
- 34:23The members are frustrated and our president is so dishonest.
- 34:28I have no idea. You know, when he says
- 34:30something, I I take that with a grain of salt.
- 34:34And so I have no idea. To tell you the truth, I should
- 34:37just said that right at the beginning and I have no idea.
- 34:41OK. I got one more really good
- 34:42question here. Being a city carrier, how do you
- 34:46deal with the micromanagement? We're, we know as real carriers
- 34:50are beginning to face the same type of scrutiny for every
- 34:52little thing that we are doing. And I can't stand it.
- 34:55I hate being treated like I'm a liar or a criminal just for
- 34:58doing my job. Yeah.
- 35:02The good thing about my station is we don't have to deal with
- 35:04that knock on wood. It's a it's a very tenured
- 35:08station. So they kind of stay away from
- 35:10that. They don't come in here with a
- 35:12lot of bullshit on our station. The biggest thing you can do is
- 35:17understand what's Y'all's handbook?
- 35:20Ours is M41 handbook. What is yours?
- 35:2238 the M38. M38, get that, get that and read
- 35:29it. And I would read it and read it
- 35:31and read it. When I first became a shop
- 35:33steward in 2006, I'd never seen the J Cam.
- 35:37The M39, which is management. The M41, which is ours, had
- 35:41never seen any of. And that was why, you know, I
- 35:44had kind of default with myself about being a steward because I
- 35:49was like, you know, I'm going to let people down.
- 35:52But every break I read the M 41. At lunch I read the M41.
- 35:58When I got home I read the M41 and I understood my office
- 36:02duties, I understood my street duties, I understood my
- 36:07reporting requirements if I'm going to request overtime, which
- 36:10I don't have to do. But all those things I
- 36:12understood and so I understood those for all my people.
- 36:16So everybody in my station was was protected because I
- 36:19understood what they could and could not do.
- 36:23And so when they came in there and tried to micromanage all
- 36:26those years ago, way back when, you know, we would grieve that
- 36:32and and stop it. But you know, you see more and
- 36:35more of it. Now we have these, the T wrap.
- 36:38I'm sure y'all heard me talk about that.
- 36:39If y'all been on any of these episodes, the new ride
- 36:43adjustment process has brought all of that roaring back.
- 36:46All this micromanagement, the hour office time, getting out of
- 36:50the office in an hour, 22 minute load times, all these things are
- 36:55micromanaging and so stationary events that's all that.
- 36:59But it's all about knowing your rights, your things that you're
- 37:04required to do in the office you're not required to do.
- 37:07You know 22 month at load time is something that's made-up.
- 37:11Stationary events are something they can't do.
- 37:12You know that our office time is not contractual.
- 37:15So I would just get that M38 and I would study it and I would
- 37:20study that off with Y'all's office function, St. function,
- 37:24your office duties, AM office duties and all that stuff right
- 37:27there. That's that's the biggest thing.
- 37:30Quick correction, the M38 is actually the management's guide
- 37:34to managing role carriers, but our.
- 37:37Actual. Six O 3 yeah, the PO6O3 is what
- 37:41we would have to do. But yeah, the M38's not a bad
- 37:43read either. You know, I would always.
- 37:46Know management's looking for is in the P then the M38 and what
- 37:51your duties and responsibilities are is in the PO6O3.
- 37:55So make sure you understand those and then when you get to
- 37:58want even know the contract is the EL9O2 is our contract.
- 38:04OK, well that's what I would do. I know it sounds boring, but you
- 38:09know I that's what I did, and M39 is theirs.
- 38:13I studied that and studied that until I memorized it, and that
- 38:17way I knew theirs better than I do my then they know theirs and
- 38:22I knew M41 better than they knew it.
- 38:24So. Now Corey, with the you said the
- 38:27M31 is the the handbook right the M. 41 M 41 is ours, M39 is
- 38:35theirs on my side all. Right.
- 38:38Have they like for us the PO6O3, which is our the rule carrier
- 38:42handbook, basically what you're supposed to do in a day, yes.
- 38:47With the. With the new rec system where
- 38:50everything's tracked digitally or on a report, they started
- 38:57saying, well, certain parts of that are no longer valid, but
- 39:01they haven't updated it with the T Rep Have they tried saying
- 39:05that on your side or no? No, no, they they have these
- 39:10memos that they go by. That's where all our abuse comes
- 39:14from is, are these. And so nothing else has changed
- 39:18really, just these memos that came out with these parameters
- 39:21and they're taking those, you know, things and and shoving
- 39:24them down our throat. But nothing's really changed as
- 39:28far as anything else. That's what you're asking.
- 39:31OK, that's kind of what I was asking.
- 39:35Yeah, 'cause there's certain tribe, what's the word, not
- 39:42parameters like dimensions for a parcel, for example, which fell
- 39:49under the old mail count guidelines.
- 39:52They're saying, well no, that doesn't count.
- 39:54You know, you have to, you know that doesn't go anymore now that
- 39:58we're using Rex. But they haven't updated the the
- 40:04PO60 3AS of yet. To.
- 40:09Show that none of that claims. As of yet, according to our
- 40:13Director of Labor Relations, they're still in negotiations on
- 40:17what an obvious parcel is. We've never had to deal with
- 40:22that. Just we know we have Spurs
- 40:26chunks with a column, you know, things that are stuck in the
- 40:29case, you know, if it's smaller than the shoe box, but I'm not
- 40:33going to stick something smaller than the shoe box, you know, I'm
- 40:35not going to stick something like that in my case.
- 40:38But so though you know, we have issues with that.
- 40:40But no, we never, we never really had to deal with stuff
- 40:43like that. I remember my mother, when she
- 40:45would do rule counts, talking about what you're talking about
- 40:49right there. The the box, you know, the size
- 40:51of the parcel, you know how that counts for you and stuff like
- 40:54that. Like for example the little
- 40:57white bags with the medicine in it where you have the bio
- 41:00medicine in it. Oh yeah.
- 41:03So something like that. For example, under the old count
- 41:06system, if you could case it if it would fit into the case in a
- 41:13one inch separation, which right actually says we say two
- 41:18addresses in a slot per slot, but it's a 2 inch slot has two
- 41:23addresses in it is what it actually calls for.
- 41:28Most people have enough dividers to divide each individual slot
- 41:31to that one inch slot without affecting the male.
- 41:39It becomes a flat and then if it's over a certain length,
- 41:45width, height, or girth then it becomes a parcel.
- 41:52We technically don't have the term spur.
- 41:56You know anything where the bar code is considered a parcel
- 42:00under the new RX. Oh really?
- 42:02Yeah, anything with a bar code. And that's where the debate on
- 42:05the parcel size comes from because we have what's called
- 42:08now an unscannable parcel. So, I mean, I have quite a few
- 42:13churches on my route and so they'll get boxes of books that
- 42:17are metered mail. And you know that to me that I
- 42:22want credit for delivering that parcel.
- 42:24So I'm going to enter in it as an unscannable parcel.
- 42:26Well, now that's the huge debate on is what size does it have to
- 42:30be to be considered a parcel. And we've got management down to
- 42:33if you believe it's unscalable parcel, then you need to show
- 42:36that to us first so we can approve whether or not that's a
- 42:39parcel for you. So if y'all had a priority
- 42:45envelope for the bar code, they're saying that's a parcel.
- 42:49Yep. And it'd be credited to us on
- 42:51where we delivered it. So it would be a small parcel
- 42:57which gives you minimal credit if you scan it into the mail in
- 43:01interact mailbox, medium size if it's in a part in a parcel
- 43:06Walker, or a large which will now include walking distance
- 43:14from your park point to dismount to the front door and back.
- 43:21And also mileage from your mailbox to your park point.
- 43:26Out of route mileage. Out of route mileage.
- 43:29It's actually time, yeah. This whole Rec system is really
- 43:35it is. Convoluted.
- 43:37It's convoluted. And if management if management
- 43:40had kept its grubby hands out of it and our leadership didn't
- 43:43roll over on it, it would probably be a good evaluation
- 43:47system. If management had trained
- 43:48everybody, like their contract tells us, the management had to
- 43:51train us on changes to our works processes and everybody knew
- 43:56what they were doing. It'd be a great system, but
- 43:59management can't keep their grubby hands on it.
- 44:01Management didn't want to train people beyond the six scans.
- 44:05You clock in your load truck and load truck departure route,
- 44:09return to DU and clock out. Those were the scans that
- 44:12management trained us on and that was it.
- 44:14Everything else we had to learn, either through our podcast or
- 44:18through word of mouth from other carriers.
- 44:22Did did all that stuff get fixed with?
- 44:25Y'alls I remember y'all was in a in a big way, a mess back in the
- 44:31day with with the route counts. The new route counts how they
- 44:34came in and screwed y'all so bad.
- 44:35Oh no. It is, it's.
- 44:37Still not fixed there. There's really there's still
- 44:41issues. One of the I think the big
- 44:42issues, well they were when they were wanting to do our coverage
- 44:45factor, they if you had CBUS, I I have several CBUS on my route.
- 44:51If if you didn't have mail for that first box and that CBU, or
- 44:55that first box and that CBU was inactive, you didn't get
- 44:58coverage at all for that CBU. I just remember what a mess that
- 45:04was back then. Matter of fact, I think even I
- 45:07think I had an episode where I talked about it.
- 45:09Yeah, it it's it's better, but it's a whole new mess.
- 45:14Yeah, because we can't. Everything is.
- 45:19It's data-driven, so it's off of the end of run report or radar
- 45:23report, which is basically end of run with a few other things
- 45:29included on it, which is your bundled flats.
- 45:34But the problem with bundled flats is People magazine, for
- 45:38example, They'll give the post office a listing of how many
- 45:47magazines or are in the bundle for each route.
- 45:51But between them, printing, packaging and shipping and then
- 45:57getting that report together and then sending it to the post
- 46:01office could be anywhere from 2 to 14 days delayed from when you
- 46:06actually receive it. Yeah, it.
- 46:11Yeah. I mean some aspects have
- 46:13improved, others are still just as disastrous.
- 46:16I mean when you've got these these far out rural routes that
- 46:19have two different zip codes that we call parent child
- 46:23routes, they don't know how what is going on with because nobody
- 46:29can answer it. I mean it's yeah, yeah, it it's
- 46:34awful. Well, when you have, when?
- 46:37You have your president telling you that rural carriers were
- 46:41getting off way too early, so they decided to up the values
- 46:44that that you have to do. Like we have to do 16 more
- 46:48letter verifications than ADPS machine.
- 46:51So basically, our president told the Rural Craft that rural
- 46:55carriers have had it too good for too long for somebody who
- 46:59hasn't been on his route in over 17 years.
- 47:01Right. That's usually how that works.
- 47:03Of course. Ours, our president wasn't on
- 47:06the floor for 17 months I don't think.
- 47:08And then he became went up there to national.
- 47:10So kind of the exact opposite he he wasn't down here long enough
- 47:15to understand anything. And so that's the reason he
- 47:18makes terrible decisions. But I think they pushed both of
- 47:22these route evaluation processes too fast.
- 47:26You know you had these memos and then here we're into it.
- 47:28And you know our union didn't prepare us for it.
- 47:32Sounds like y'all didn't prepare you you for it and it just
- 47:36turned into a shit show on both sides like ours is a complete
- 47:39shit show as far as T rap and. With you guys, they kind of just
- 47:45threw it on you. Yeah.
- 47:48It's like, here's these memos, This is how it's going to be now
- 47:51with us. They knew what was coming.
- 47:56We went to arbitration. What was that, 2012?
- 47:59Yeah, and the arbitrator gave it to us and it was a team of three
- 48:10main impact engineers, one from the post office, one from the
- 48:17union and the two, those two engineers picked the third one
- 48:21to work with to create the rec system.
- 48:25And then they wanted it to be implemented by 2015 and it
- 48:30didn't actually finally get implemented until 20/22.
- 48:33And they still hadn't worked any of the bugs out ten years, 10
- 48:38years in the making. Because I remember when I when I
- 48:41transferred offices and I, my office that I had started in was
- 48:45a test study office, So I was familiar with it because we were
- 48:48doing the scans, we were doing all the data stuff.
- 48:52And when I was mentioning it to anybody in that office,
- 48:54including the postmaster at the time, they looked at me like a
- 48:57deer and headlights, like, what the heck are you talking about?
- 49:03Yeah, both of those were ill prepared.
- 49:06I know ours like they are. We had the memos come out.
- 49:10They knew that they were working on this route adjustment
- 49:12process. They knew that this was coming
- 49:14down the Pike. We were left completely
- 49:17clueless. You know, like you said, here's
- 49:20the memos, and this is going to start next month.
- 49:23And so carriers weren't prepared.
- 49:26They started rushing in this training on these rate teams and
- 49:31it was a disaster. And that's I know y'all heard me
- 49:34bitch about, should have gotten ahead of that and and prepared
- 49:37us for it, prepared the carriers for it.
- 49:42But, and y'all, sounds like yours is worse than us.
- 49:45You know, 'cause they came in and just rushed y'all.
- 49:48And like the gentleman said, you know, you had the six scans
- 49:52basically everybody knew about and just came in there and
- 49:56throttled y'all as far as these routes.
- 49:59Right. Well, and the six, those six
- 50:01scans that you're required to do every day are clock in and clock
- 50:06out, start load, end load, which it's not the same as the load
- 50:12truck because that actually is a, it's a stopwatch.
- 50:17So from the time, as soon as I have everything pulled down and
- 50:19in my Gurney or conveyance, I hit start load and roll it out
- 50:24to my vehicle, load my vehicle, bring the conveyance back in and
- 50:28put it wherever I'm supposed to leave it and end load.
- 50:33And that gives we get actual time for that.
- 50:36And even with the old count system, there was a what was it,
- 50:4014 or 15 minute it and that wasn't the limit.
- 50:44But anything over that had to have a justification.
- 50:48So if you had a 17 minute load time, they could your
- 50:53justification be two trips, you had two full Gurney's that day.
- 51:00But you know the same is with this 22 minutes on your side.
- 51:06It's an average of about what it takes, you know it takes what it
- 51:11takes, but that's about that's the higher end of the average
- 51:17and that's probably where they came up with that number.
- 51:19They say all right it takes on average 15 to 20 you know or 18
- 51:26to 25 minutes we'll say 22 and then we have when we got.
- 51:35Then when you come back you have to hit return to do to duty unit
- 51:39or delivery unit which again starts a stopwatch.
- 51:44And at times from that point until you either go switch to
- 51:49what's called PM casing for if they distributed mail for the
- 51:55next day like sometimes like the Advos or circulars or you know
- 52:01something that came in late. If you're going to if you have
- 52:05permission to case them in the evening instead of having to
- 52:07wait till the next morning that stop the stopwatch and then you
- 52:12your your 6th was the clock out but that doesn't count the other
- 52:1818 possibles for example authorized dismount at ACBU.
- 52:25Anywhere we, you know business that you have to go out and
- 52:27bring the mail in. If you have, you have you
- 52:31automatically get credit for one a day to that location to your
- 52:35CBU. But let's say I have so much
- 52:37mail and parcels it takes me two or three trips that day to get
- 52:41it from the truck to the CVUI can go in and say authorize
- 52:44dismount. Three trip to door is the same
- 52:48thing but it's a parcel to the door you have £350 Amazon boxes
- 52:56of dog food. You ain't getting anyone trip.
- 53:00You're taking three trips to do that.
- 53:02So I can put in three trips to door so I get the credit to
- 53:05walking from the truck to the door and back three times.
- 53:12Yeah, that's a. Man who turns around?
- 53:15You know the management that turns around and after you've
- 53:17done that, questions you the next day of why you had that and
- 53:21harasses you and just belittles you about doing that.
- 53:26So I know you, you've been big on getting rid of managerial
- 53:30harassment. What would you tell the rural
- 53:32craft how to handle managerial harassment?
- 53:37Well, we have you know in in management's handbook M39
- 53:44section 115 four, it's mutual respect.
- 53:47I don't know if you all has that.
- 53:53It's those type things right there.
- 53:55You know when you kind of online what you're talking about with
- 53:59the parcels, you know, they came on ours and said here's the
- 54:05parameters for parcels. You should have never done that.
- 54:09You should have never put in a time on a parameter for a
- 54:13parcel. I understand, you know that you
- 54:17get time for it, but time should be time.
- 54:19Whatever my time is I took it should be my time.
- 54:21But they put in these parameters, you left the door
- 54:24open to be abused. And so management that does that
- 54:29to me, if it's creating a hostile working environment
- 54:34because of what you're doing, then that should be covered
- 54:37under 6115 for the M39 handbook. Maintaining a mutual respect
- 54:42atmosphere. You know, if you have anything,
- 54:44if you want to question something I'm doing, then you
- 54:47need to get up and come out there and watch me if you don't
- 54:49think that I'm doing something properly and then correct that.
- 54:52But to continue to badger me and bully me because of something
- 54:56you think I did wrong or question me because of something
- 54:59you think I did wrong, you know, you're creating a hostile
- 55:02working environment. That's what all these memos have
- 55:04done. Is is created a hostile working
- 55:08environment for my people. You're talking about Parcel
- 55:11takes a minute. Parcel takes what it takes.
- 55:14You know, just like what you're saying.
- 55:16You get 3 trips. Why'd you take 3 trips?
- 55:18What the fuck? I had three boxes I couldn't
- 55:20take at one time, you know? And So what you've done is the
- 55:23our union has left the door open for us to be abused and bullied
- 55:28based off of these route adjustment processes.
- 55:31And that's because we're in agreement with them.
- 55:34We've come into an agreement with management.
- 55:36You cannot grieve the process. You know, that's another thing
- 55:40that kills me is that you can't grieve it.
- 55:43And so you've left the door open for us to be abused off of it.
- 55:46We cannot grieve it. But with what you're saying, if
- 55:51manager continues to call you in there and question you about
- 55:54certain things, to me this created a hostile working
- 55:57environment and I would address that if Y'all's M38 is
- 56:01management's handbook, I don't know what Section 115 is and
- 56:05that but ours is 115 four. It talks about maintaining
- 56:10mutual respect atmosphere. You know, I think that our union
- 56:17is is as big a fault as management on this because
- 56:21they've allowed it to happen. And I continue to say that these
- 56:25memos have brought by about more abuse of my people than anything
- 56:30in our history. And and it sounds like you're
- 56:34getting the same same medicine as far as that's concerned.
- 56:38And hell, we're in agreement with it.
- 56:40You know, we're in bed with management based off of these
- 56:43memos and these route adjustments and the parameters
- 56:46and all that stuff, things that, you know, promote abuse of us.
- 56:50And so I don't know. I mean, honestly, I don't know.
- 56:54I mean, they're going to call you in that question about
- 56:56things that we're in agreement with.
- 56:59So, shit, you know, Well, you do.
- 57:02For us on the M38 management of rural delivery services, it
- 57:06would be 229.4 where it says it. However, it is the frontline
- 57:12manager who controls management's attempt to maintain
- 57:15an atmosphere between employer, an employee, which assures
- 57:19mutual respect of each other's rights and responsibilities.
- 57:22We also have the joint statements on workplace violence
- 57:25and harassment, and you guys have the same ones we do because
- 57:30everybody signed it. Yeah.
- 57:33I will say they probably are. If you probably pulled the M39
- 57:38in his section and that section of the M38, it's probably
- 57:41verbatim. It's the same verbiage.
- 57:43Yes, it is. It's the same verbage and ours
- 57:46is 115 four. And if you go through both
- 57:50handbooks, I'll guarantee with except for certain niches for
- 57:55craft craft specifics, all the burgers is going to be the same
- 58:01for the general info, yeah. Yeah, that's where I'd start.
- 58:07You know, continue to come in there and harass you about why
- 58:12it took you this, why it took you that.
- 58:14And at some point, you know, you've created a hostile working
- 58:17environment for me. I'm a good, I'm a good carrier.
- 58:20You know, I do what I'm supposed to do if you don't think I'm
- 58:23doing what I'm supposed to be doing.
- 58:25Section 134 of the M39 handbook talks about St. observation.
- 58:30You know, if it says that you've got evidence that I'm loitering
- 58:33or not doing something I should be doing, then you can come out
- 58:35there and watch me. But I would say that that was
- 58:40what you would need to do. If you think that I'm doing
- 58:42something I'm not supposed to be doing, then you can not.
- 58:45You know, you're within your rights to come out there and
- 58:47watch me. But to continue to badger me in
- 58:49the office because you think I'm doing something or I'm not doing
- 58:52something right, you know, for me that's a hostile work
- 58:56environment. I agree.
- 58:59Like our brother Eugene Grace getting nailed with stationary
- 59:04events just before his passing. You know that right there only
- 59:08using scanner data and our union actually has prolifically said
- 59:14and the scanner data alone cannot be used for discipline.
- 59:17Yeah, that's on our side as well.
- 59:19You know, that's on our side as well.
- 59:21However, I don't know if you heard me read the letter from
- 59:24our president to the gentleman who sent me the letter talking
- 59:27about it's just an inconvenience.
- 59:29Yeah, I I heard that last. Week.
- 59:31Holy smokes, man. What are you talking about?
- 59:34You know, if you can't do it, you can't do it.
- 59:36But we have been over to the God of the scanner.
- 59:39I mean, they have. They worship this scanner.
- 59:42I don't know why my president is so in love with this scanner.
- 59:45He is in love with this scanner and what it can do.
- 59:49And he he's in amazement at what this scanner can do.
- 59:53But God, man, you got to think about us down work on floor when
- 59:56you agree to all this shit. You know I'm sitting there
- 59:59saying you know it's an inconvenience.
- 1:00:00No, it's not. You know what's an inconvenience
- 1:00:04is? Management continued to come in
- 1:00:06there and tell us that we're stationed there for a certain
- 1:00:08amount of time, asking me why. Get off your ass and come out
- 1:00:12there and watch me if you think I'm doing something I shouldn't
- 1:00:14be doing. But God dog, I mean we've opened
- 1:00:16the door for so much abuse based off of these scanners.
- 1:00:21Man. I, you know, these new right
- 1:00:25adjustments may be great and maybe the best thing that's ever
- 1:00:28happened to us, but I don't know that we had a list of of things
- 1:00:32that we're dealing with. If right adjustments be at the
- 1:00:34top of it, I imagine it'd probably be down you know 5th or
- 1:00:376th or 7th to me non compliance management, that's unruly.
- 1:00:42Those would be top two things. But we've this route adjustment
- 1:00:47process is like it is the most, you know it's the top of their
- 1:00:52list. I don't think it would be at the
- 1:00:53top of the city cares list route adjustment process.
- 1:00:56But man ever since this has come on it has been a shit show with
- 1:01:00the city carrier craft. You know, the second these memos
- 1:01:04were signed, man, management was waiting to jump.
- 1:01:06And they did. And they have been pouncing on
- 1:01:08US ever since. And you got a coward ass from a
- 1:01:12president on our side that refuses to stand up to it.
- 1:01:18It's it's it's wild. And was that a question?
- 1:01:22Somebody asked me. Somebody asked me a question.
- 1:01:26I'll just go off right there. I just woke.
- 1:01:28Up What happened? It's OK.
- 1:01:29I'll take one second here. The M39 section that you were
- 1:01:35talking about in the rural side, it is SECT Chapter 5 #510 Annual
- 1:01:42Inspection of Routes for the Rural side, just so you guys are
- 1:01:46aware of where it's at, NRM 38. Someone commented Corey.
- 1:01:52Meanwhile, the president still has a Nokia phone.
- 1:01:55I would be impressed with the scanners too.
- 1:02:00Really. And then someone.
- 1:02:03Replied to that saying playing snake on the key of home, yeah.
- 1:02:10That's a yeah, like, yeah, looking at a new gate.
- 1:02:15We don't want to keep you much longer, 'cause we know that you
- 1:02:17definitely are a busy man right now and you got your stuff to
- 1:02:20work on. But we really appreciate you
- 1:02:22taking this time to join us and I think James, Bill and I will
- 1:02:27definitely get in touch with you and see if we're about coming on
- 1:02:31as if we get. Closer.
- 1:02:32To National Convention and we'll we'll be in touch and.
- 1:02:37That that'd be great. I'd like that.
- 1:02:38Y'all reach out to me anytime, man.
- 1:02:40If I can get on there, I get on here.
- 1:02:41I enjoyed it. I I yeah, I'll give.
- 1:02:43Them. Your phone number.
- 1:02:44So you so you they have it to reach out to you directly.
- 1:02:48Yeah, absolutely. It's been a pleasure.
- 1:02:51Definitely it It was great. I'll finally get this done.
- 1:02:55Kristen I'm sure if you message or call him, he won't ignore you
- 1:02:59or tell you he'll call you back. That's my fault.
- 1:03:05I'll get. Back to you.
- 1:03:06I'll get back to. You I was, yeah.
- 1:03:11Does your leadership do that? No.
- 1:03:13Let me look that up and I'll get back to you and. 6.
- 1:03:18Months, Months. Years later, you're still
- 1:03:21waiting. Well, luckily, luckily, I've got
- 1:03:23JB and so I'll ask him about something.
- 1:03:27He either knows it right there or he'll call me back in about
- 1:03:29two minutes. I don't go to anybody else.
- 1:03:31I go to JB. He's he's the he's the man.
- 1:03:34But yeah, I was talking to him when I was when you called
- 1:03:37earlier, I said, man, let me call you back.
- 1:03:39The hell when he messes me like 4 hours later and he's like,
- 1:03:42hey, what's up? I was like, oh damn, I forgot.
- 1:03:45But I I apologize for that. But yeah, y'all have me on
- 1:03:51anytime, man. Somebody asked would JB be
- 1:03:53interested in coming on the podcast?
- 1:03:56He may be now his his his oldest daughter is fixing to have a
- 1:04:00baby. I think they put her in today so
- 1:04:02they're not. She's not going to make it past
- 1:04:04the 28th, so it won't be any time soon because he's going to
- 1:04:08be enjoying that grandbaby. But that's the guy now.
- 1:04:11He's the one when I become business agent, he's going to be
- 1:04:15my right hand man. He's, I'm going to send him
- 1:04:17around this region. I I kind of know where he's
- 1:04:21coming for from that. He has come to the studio
- 1:04:26because he'd have to go, you know, You'd have to log him in
- 1:04:28on the Discord through your computer.
- 1:04:31Yeah, we can do something. We can figure something out.
- 1:04:34But he he'd be a good one to have one too.
- 1:04:36Man, he's he knows his stuff. I had to get.
- 1:04:39What was that, young man? I'm sorry.
- 1:04:41Go on, Kristen. As I say, I I know where he's
- 1:04:43coming from that I my daughter keeps giving me her blessing to
- 1:04:47go and run for national office in August because her due date
- 1:04:51is the day before National Convention starts.
- 1:04:54Oh, really? Yes.
- 1:04:55Oh, yeah. So, yeah.
- 1:04:57So you, you do know. But yes, she's got her bags
- 1:05:02packed and ready to to go when something goes down.
- 1:05:05But that's that's where he's at right now.
- 1:05:08So he's he's excited and scared and all the things, you know,
- 1:05:12I've got one grandbaby so I know what he's fixing to go through.
- 1:05:17So yeah, yeah, y'all y'all remember him.
- 1:05:21Oh, definitely, definitely. But yeah, that young man, you,
- 1:05:25that young man you had on recently, Trevor, was it?
- 1:05:29Tyler Vassar. Tyler Yes, that was a good one.
- 1:05:33That guy Sharp. One of you guys said you wanted
- 1:05:36to try and get him on. Yes.
- 1:05:39No. Maybe.
- 1:05:42Eventually. Yeah, we can definitely imagine
- 1:05:44he would. I imagine he would.
- 1:05:46Come on, he would be a good one. That guy, he's he's much smarter
- 1:05:49than me. Yeah, I was like, damn.
- 1:05:52I mean, when he was talking, I was like, oh, shit, this guy
- 1:05:54knows his stuff. Give him my contact information,
- 1:05:59OK? Yeah.
- 1:06:00Ron says he's going to be unfed up soon, too.
- 1:06:04Oh, yes, yeah, yeah, that. He'll be good, that guy.
- 1:06:07He's sharp. He's really sharp.
- 1:06:10Yeah, so get him my contact if he's interested, get him my
- 1:06:14contact information and we'll try and set up something.
- 1:06:17I imagine he would be, you know, anybody's trying to just spread
- 1:06:21their message, I imagine wants to be on any platform they can
- 1:06:23get on, you know? Right, But yeah, it's And then
- 1:06:30just let me know one way or another if he's interested.
- 1:06:34All right, well, I'll just send your contact information.
- 1:06:39Yeah, well, you have it. Yeah, yeah, I got your phone
- 1:06:43number. Yeah, that works.
- 1:06:45All right. So, so we're going to let Corey
- 1:06:48get back, but if you've got any final thoughts or comments that
- 1:06:51you can send out to everybody that's listening this evening,
- 1:06:54Corey, that'd be great. Yeah, just to me, we're all in
- 1:06:59the same boat. We're all the same family, you
- 1:07:02know, just because we do things a little bit differently, you
- 1:07:06know, hearing y'all talk about your struggles with national,
- 1:07:10it's our same struggle. I I think that a movement on
- 1:07:14Y'all side is critical as well as a movement on our side is
- 1:07:18critical. To me.
- 1:07:20There's a new day as far as the union is concerned and that's
- 1:07:23what I want. I want a new day as far as this
- 1:07:26union is concerned, a more militant union.
- 1:07:28I think that's what Y'all need and y'all deserve.
- 1:07:31Way back when my father was doing it, he was begging the
- 1:07:35Euro care union to do more for their people.
- 1:07:39And that's been the running joke all these years.
- 1:07:42Somebody's going to step up and do it differently and you're
- 1:07:45going to need to be militant. And if you get militant and you
- 1:07:50educate your people, all these work room drama, all that shit
- 1:07:54will stop because you'll have people that will take charge of
- 1:07:56that shit and take hold of it. And that's the same thing I'm
- 1:08:00going to do when I become business agent, when we get a
- 1:08:03new president in here. That's what I'm telling our
- 1:08:05people is that we're going to become a militant union again
- 1:08:09and take over this place with y'all the APW.
- 1:08:13If everybody was the same way and get out of this fat cat type
- 1:08:18old union bullshit that they do sitting back doing nothing for
- 1:08:22us. Once we take that over and
- 1:08:26become a new union, I think you'll see a new Postal Service.
- 1:08:29But that would be the last thing I would say.
- 1:08:32I love everybody on here, man. I see we got a pretty good group
- 1:08:35on here. To me, you are still my brothers
- 1:08:38and sisters, even though you are.
- 1:08:40Y'all don't work near as much as we do.
- 1:08:42And so, but smarter, not harder. Yeah, but but hey, I've been
- 1:08:52there. I've done that.
- 1:08:53I enjoyed it. With a little bit of time I
- 1:08:54could do it, so I ain't knocking it, but I really appreciate
- 1:08:59y'all having me on though, seriously.
- 1:09:00And I'll come on anytime you want me.
- 1:09:03Thank you, Corey. We appreciate.
- 1:09:04It and. Many of our listeners are
- 1:09:07listening down on the stage. I've had definitely said thank
- 1:09:09you, they enjoyed you coming on with us tonight and we will
- 1:09:13definitely be in touch again for sure.
- 1:09:15Absolutely. Y'all take care of yourself.
- 1:09:17You too, you have a great evening.
- 1:09:19All right, all right. Y'all too.
- 1:09:21Bye. Bye.
- 1:09:21Good. Night.
- 1:09:22Bye. There you have it guys.
- 1:09:26We we got through with Corey definitely will not be a
- 1:09:29stranger. We'll definitely set up
- 1:09:32something for James, Bill and I to get on there with Corey as
- 1:09:35well. Yes.
- 1:09:37We're also looking at getting on fed up as well.
- 1:09:40Yes, yes. So.
- 1:09:43But just a final thought here, as you heard from Corey, they're
- 1:09:49dealing with the exact same management that we are on the
- 1:09:53City side. And even though our unions
- 1:09:57compete for routes, compete for mailboxes, compete for
- 1:10:01customers, at the end of the day we're brothers and sisters doing
- 1:10:06the same job. And the biggest thing about that
- 1:10:09is we're all in this together. Absolutely.
- 1:10:15So we are going to sign up for tonight and we'll have this up
- 1:10:19for everybody's listening pleasure by the mornings.
- 1:10:25Thank you everybody for joining us Again, we thank Corey for
- 1:10:27coming on with us finally this evening.
- 1:10:31Have a good evening.
