- 0:05Hi, I'm Jay Fallon and thank you for listening to the slippery
- 0:09slope. So two headlines that I want to
- 0:11go through today, which I think definitely in Australia have not
- 0:15received enough publicity, but really show how the war in
- 0:20Ukraine with Russia is really escalating and how close we
- 0:26probably are to to World War three.
- 0:30The realities of that this one comes from the Washington
- 0:33Examiner. It says that U.S. military
- 0:36forces fully prepared to cross into Ukraine.
- 0:40So it says that the Army's 101st Airborne Division, who boast the
- 0:46Screaming Eagles Monica, have been deployed to Europe for the
- 0:50first time since World War Two, practicing with live tank and
- 0:55artillery rounds not far from the Black Sea across which
- 0:59Russia. Has taken territory from
- 1:02Ukraine, including Crimea at a forward operating site on NATO's
- 1:08eastern flank. This is, according to CBS News,
- 1:11so Brigadier General John Lubis, the division's deputy commander.
- 1:17It's stressed this is not a training deployment, but rather
- 1:21a combat deployment from which his forces need to be ready to
- 1:26fight tonight. That's a quote and saying.
- 1:30Depending on how the situation escalates across the border, so
- 1:34Colonel Edwin Methodus, commander of the second
- 1:37Brigadier Ohh Brigade Combat team, told the news outlet these
- 1:42troops are the closest US unit to the fighting in Ukraine,
- 1:46still raging more than seven months into Russia's full scale
- 1:50invasion began. It keeps us on our toes, he
- 1:53said. The roughly 4700 soldiers from
- 1:56Fort Campbell, KY, are about 3 miles away from Romania's.
- 2:00Order with Ukraine, conducting joint ground and air assault
- 2:04exercises with Romanian forces meant to simulate battles that
- 2:10Ukrainian forces are waging against Russian invaders.
- 2:14So it's not just about defending NATO's territory, says Charlie
- 2:19Diaguita, who's a senior foreign correspondent correspondent for
- 2:23CBS News. He said in one report from an
- 2:27air base in Romania if the fight escalates in NATO.
- 2:30Partners are under threat. They're fully prepared to cross
- 2:34over into Ukrainian territory if ordered to do so.
- 2:38And then we have this article that came through.
- 2:40This was pretty big news, but yet again in Australia we didn't
- 2:44hear much about it at all. This headline here from Al
- 2:47Jazeera says false flag question mark.
- 2:50Russia says Ukraine plans to detonate a dirty bomb.
- 2:56So Ukraine has responded by calling the allegation absurd
- 3:00and dangerous. As as concerns over an
- 3:03escalation in the war rise, so Russia has accused Ukraine of
- 3:09planning to detonate a radioactive dirty bomb and blame
- 3:12it on Moscow's Defence minister, Sergei Shoigu.
- 3:18I'm hoping they'll say pronounce it.
- 3:20Shoigu discussed the rapidly deteriorating situation in the
- 3:24Ukraine war in calls with NATO nations on Sunday, so without
- 3:29providing any evidence whatsoever.
- 3:32I mean, why should you? It's only war.
- 3:34Just put the outlandish comments out there.
- 3:36Shoigu said Ukraine could escalate the conflict with a
- 3:41dirty bomb, a device that uses explosives to scatter
- 3:44radioactive waste. It does not have the devastating
- 3:48effect of a nuclear explosion, but it could expose broad areas
- 3:53to radioactive contamination. I mean, like I said, there's no
- 3:59evidence, offers no evidence. At all but just saying this
- 4:04outlandish, pretty outrageous accusation.
- 4:07So the purpose of the proactive provocation is to accuse Russia
- 4:11of using weapons of mass destruction in the Ukrainian
- 4:15theatre of operations and thereby launch a profit, a
- 4:19powerful anti Russian campaign in the world aimed at
- 4:23undermining confidence in Moscow, the RIA Novosti news
- 4:29agency said on telegram. So the calculation of the
- 4:33organisers, of the organisers of the provocation, is that if it
- 4:37is successfully implemented, most countries will react
- 4:41extremely harshly to be nuclear to the nuclear incident in
- 4:45Ukraine, the post said. As a result, Moscow will lose
- 4:49the support of many of its key partners.
- 4:53Russia provided no evidence to substantiate its allegations.
- 4:58If anyone can use nuclear weapons in this part of Europe,
- 5:02it can be only one source, and that source is the one that has
- 5:06ordered Comrade Shoigu to telephone here or there,
- 5:10Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said in his nightly
- 5:15video message. So foreign minister, ohh man,
- 5:18all these names just get me tongue tied, but I think it's a
- 5:22demitro. Kalaba OK, I'll go with that
- 5:26said. Russian lies about a dirty bomb
- 5:30are as absurd as they are dangerous.
- 5:33Firstly, he goes on to say, Ukraine is a committed nuclear
- 5:37non proliferation treaty member. We neither have any dirty bombs
- 5:42nor plan to acquire any, he said.
- 5:44Secondly, Russians often accuse others of what they plan
- 5:49themselves. Oh my goodness.
- 5:55And he's probably right. The truth is usually just under
- 5:58the surface. Russia, you know, nothing would
- 6:02surprise you, gotta say that Russia, Russia accusing the
- 6:06enemy, their enemy of doing what they actually plan on doing.
- 6:09Who would have thought that? While everyone anyway.
- 6:12So the article goes on and says whatever the likelihood of a
- 6:16dirty bomb attack. The back and forth accusations
- 6:20hold their own dangers. It appears that there is a
- 6:24shared feeling that the tensions have approached the level that
- 6:27could raise the real threat for all.
- 6:30So previous Russian assertions that Ukraine might resort to
- 6:34using banned weapons such as biological arms have stirred
- 6:37concerns in the West that Moscow might be preparing to stage
- 6:41false flags attacks which they would blame on Kiev.
- 6:45So Shoigu spoke with United States Defence Chief Lloyd
- 6:49Austin. Ohh my goodness, Lloyd Austin,
- 6:52isn't he? Just a brilliant yeah, not
- 6:55anyway. So spoke with Lloyd Austin on
- 6:58Sunday for the second time in three days and held a flurry of
- 7:01calls with Lloyd's counterparts in three other NATO countries.
- 7:06Moscow provided no details on the conversation with Austin,
- 7:10which came after the two men spoke on Friday, which is for
- 7:13the first time since May. Shoigu said the situation in
- 7:16Ukraine was substantially worsening.
- 7:18In the other courts, they discussed the situation in
- 7:22Ukraine, which is rapidly. Deteriorating, the Russian
- 7:25Defence minister said. I'm sure you call with French
- 7:28Defence Minister Sebastian Lecornu.
- 7:32It is trending towards further uncontrolled escalation.
- 7:37So sure. You spoke separately to Turkish
- 7:40Defense Minister Hulusi Akar and the United Kings Ben Wallace,
- 7:45the UK Defence Ministry said Wallace refuted claims that
- 7:49Western countries sought to help Ukraine escalate the conflict.
- 7:53And cautioned that such allegations should not be used
- 7:57as a pretext of greater escalation.
- 8:00There was no indication from the Russian side that the
- 8:03conversations had produced any positive result.
- 8:07They showed, however, that Russia and members of the NATO
- 8:10alliance are maintaining channels of communication at a
- 8:14time of rising international concern about a possible nuclear
- 8:20escalation. So with Russia reeling from
- 8:22successive. Defeats in Ukraine, President
- 8:26Vladimir Putin has said Moscow would use any means necessary to
- 8:32defend its territorial integrity.
- 8:35Meanwhile, U.S. President Smokey Joe Biden has
- 8:39warned that the world is closer to Armageddon than at any time
- 8:45since the 1962 Cuban missile Crisis.
- 8:50Listen, whatever you think about the war and who's in the right
- 8:53and the wrong. Putin is just a very dangerous,
- 8:56dangerous man responsible for the unlawful deaths of thousands
- 8:59and thousands of people conducting an an an invasion
- 9:02that was completely, completely unnecessary, just absolutely
- 9:07obliterating a thriving nation. And I've got to agree with what
- 9:10the Ukrainian leadership, no matter what you think of
- 9:13zelenski, what he and the other leaders are saying Russian lies.
- 9:20And if anyone can use nuclear weapons in Europe, it's more
- 9:24than likely going to be Russia. And as he says, Russia often
- 9:30accuses others of what they plan themselves.
- 9:34We are way closer than World War Three then, or definitely here
- 9:39in Australia, then our media, our acknowledging things are
- 9:42escalating. I would remind you, keep your
- 9:46eyes on God. Keep reading the word.
- 9:49Do not lose your faith in God. He is in control.
- 9:54We might be heading for World War Three, who knows?
- 9:56However, in my opinion, this is just another false allegation
- 10:02from Russia trying to tip the narrative into their favour.
- 10:06But that's just my opinion. Thank you for listening to the
- 10:10slippery slope.
