• 0:18
  Tiffany: Good morning.
• 0:19
Tiffany: I'm Tiffany Windsor and I'm Mary, and we are so delighted that you are joining us for today's episode of In His Hands and Mary, I have something on my mind today.
• 0:32
Tiffany: Are you okay if I just say, hey, this is what we want to talk about?
• 0:35
Tiffany: I think it's timely and perfect.
• 0:38
Tiffany: Okay, so here's my question.
• 0:39
Tiffany: I wrote this down yesterday what does it mean to be a wise woman in today's world?
• 0:46
Tiffany: That's a big question, big question.
• 0:50
Tiffany: One of the things that first comes to mind is in our weakest moments, we need to have something to tap into, and I always have to have my fight song.
• 0:59
Tiffany: And that fight song for me is Rescue by Lauren Dagle.
• 1:03
Tiffany: So when I first found it, I was in a spot in my life where I needed a fight song.
• 1:09
Tiffany: I needed to know that God was there and I needed to know that, no matter what, the Lord is there to rescue me.
• 1:20
Tiffany: And it's okay that we're vulnerable.
• 1:22
Tiffany: It's okay in those moments.
• 1:25
Tiffany: Have you heard of the five minute rule?
• 1:27
Tiffany: I give myself the five minute rule.
• 1:28
  Tiffany: Oh, who's that?
• 1:30
  Tiffany: I don't know.
• 1:30
Tiffany: Yeah, but it's like, okay, I can be upset about this for five minutes, I can pity myself for five minutes and then that's.
• 1:38
Tiffany: It Doesn't always work, but if I can turn my thought immediately to my fight song and I have several of them now that always helps me.
• 1:49
Mary: I think that's a brilliant tool and we talked about having tools in our toolbox, and the other one I've heard recently that I've tried to use is our emotions.
• 1:58
Mary: The wave of emotion that comes over us lasts for 90 seconds max.
• 2:01
Mary: So if we're feeling overwhelmed or vulnerable or unable to move forward, know that that feeling will only last for 90 seconds.
• 2:10
Mary: Watch it, maybe time it, add your fight song and your tools that you have and then see if that's true and I've noticed it's true over the last couple of weeks, although I'm I'm more of a ruminator, so I'll sit in it thinking it's not going to end.
• 2:27
  Mary: That's not true.
• 2:27
Mary: So to prove to ourselves it's not true, and use our weaponry.
• 2:31
Mary: It's so easy to get stuck in that moment, isn't it?
• 2:35
  Mary: Stuck in that moment?
• 2:36
  Mary: And what is wisdom?
• 2:37
Mary: What is wisdom is remembering those wise choices instead of choosing my old choices.
• 2:45
Mary: How do we do that?
• 2:46
  Mary: What's the process?
• 2:47
Mary: I think it's fight song, definitely.
• 2:51
Mary: And knowing this too shall pass.
• 2:53
Mary: We know that saying well, I have a friend who puts sticky notes on her bathroom window and her refrigerator, the two places she sees first and most.
• 3:02
Mary: Those are reminders of this too shall pass, and my fight song and my scripture to use as a weapon.
• 3:12
Tiffany: Do you remember one of the first things that I shared with you when we first met?
• 3:13
Tiffany: I said one saying that works for me is cancel clear, bless the fear, choose again, choose God, Choose again, choose God.
• 3:24
Tiffany: And so for years and years I used that until I turned to scripture.
• 3:35
Tiffany: That's something good to have in your toolbox.
• 3:38
Mary: For sure, and I tried to use cancel, clear, bless the fear, choose again, and I get stuck on clear, I don't know.
• 3:49
Mary: I just I can stop the thought, but then I have what to replace it with and hello scripture.
• 3:54
Mary: I should know this after all this time.
• 3:56
Mary: But becoming a wise woman, I think, is going to be my lifelong journey.
• 4:02
Tiffany: It is a journey and you know it changes all the time because the world changes around us, but our constant is always God.
• 4:09
Tiffany: If we get caught up in what's going on in the world around us and our families and just what the media is trying to put out there for us, and we let all of that mess get into our head and we don't cancel, cancel, clear right away and get back to our God centered thoughts that can be so destructive for us, so true, and I was made a note about complaining makes a clear path for evil and gratitude makes a way for God to enter in.
• 4:42
Mary: And that feeling comes along with knowing your safe in God's hands.
• 4:45
Mary: And you had told me a story about provision.
• 4:50
Mary: You're in the car and you just heard God so clearly.
• 4:53
Mary: And not only did you hear him clearly, but you hold that.
• 4:57
Mary: You hold that as truth, like every single day.
• 5:00
Mary: Tell me how you do that.
• 5:00
Mary: I want to do that too.
• 5:03
Tiffany: Because when that voice, that inner voice, came to me, I was driving in my car.
• 5:07
Tiffany: I had just left a job interview.
• 5:09
Tiffany: I did get the job.
• 5:10
Tiffany: I was on the freeway and the voice came so clear to me Let go, this is in my hands.
• 5:17
Tiffany: The Lord was telling me.
• 5:18
Tiffany: I didn't have to worry about anything, I didn't have to worry about provision, I didn't have to worry at all.
• 5:25
Tiffany: The feeling that came over me is something that you know.
• 5:30
Tiffany: You can't explain in everyday terms.
• 5:33
Tiffany: It was such truth that I've always been able to carry that with me and I never doubted it.
• 5:40
Tiffany: From then on, god has always been there.
• 5:44
Tiffany: Provision shows up different, and abundance shows up different for different people, and so I've just always trusted, since that time, that God has me in the right place, at the right time, on the right journey, on the right path, meeting the right friends and that was that.
• 6:05
Mary: What's so interesting to me is you are able to call up that truth and that feeling every single time you need it.
• 6:12
Mary: And you know there's those feelings of joy or fear that can come over us, but what a powerful tool to know that.
• 6:21
Mary: You know that, you know the truth of that.
• 6:23
Mary: I don't know how to get that, but you were listening for that still small voice, that voice of truth.
• 6:30
Mary: And there's even a song.
• 6:31
Mary: It might be a fight song.
• 6:31
Mary: Voice of truth tells me a different story.
• 6:33
Mary: The voice of truth tells says do not be afraid.
• 6:37
Mary: And I think sometimes we say you know, fear becomes a friend.
• 6:48
Tiffany: I think we're going to take a moment here.
• 6:49
Tiffany: Just take a quick break and we'll be right back.
• 6:51
Tiffany: Okay, we've taken a quick break, and when Mary and I talked about doing the In His Hands podcast, we said to each other you know what?
• 7:02
Tiffany: We're going to cry, there are going to be moments when we cry, and it's okay.
• 7:06
Tiffany: So I want to honor that, and what that means is that God is doing his work in you right now, mary.
• 7:17
Tiffany: And one of the things can you tell me what you just told me off air, oh fear.
• 7:24
Mary: It was about fear and how fear has become a friend that is not a friend.
• 7:30
Mary: Fear has become a constant companion and I need to break up with this constant companion because it's not a good friend, it's not a healthy friend.
• 7:43
  Tiffany: How do I?
• 7:44
Tiffany: Do that I love how you say breaking up.
• 7:46
Tiffany: Love that because that comment right there brings the strength that re-centers you to bring the strength to say I am not accepting this, I am breaking this thought in this moment and I'm going to move forward balanced.
• 8:04
Tiffany: I don't know if that helps.
• 8:08
Mary: That helps me because it is something I can control at that point, instead of this constant companion of fear that I don't know where it's from, I don't know what, what it's about, but it just is constantly there.
• 8:22
Mary: So it's not just taking thoughts captive, like the Lord tells us to, but it's taking the feelings captive, and that 90 second rule, just realizing that I don't have to accept this feeling or this thought, I don't have to accept it as truth from God, and I need to have a better boundary barrier and armor over what I think that's the enemy just trying to get into your head oh he's really trying and working sometimes, if I'm honest.
• 8:52
Tiffany: But you're a very strong woman, I am.
• 8:56
  Mary: And we all are.
• 8:57
  Mary: We all are.
• 8:58
Mary: We've all been through the Valley of the Shadow and back, and just to realize how much we've conquered, how much we've overcome, that was a thought.
• 9:12
  Mary: Today.
• 9:12
Mary: You, dear one, belong to God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
• 9:20
Mary: And I'm always like I, that was a power of hers for a lot of years.
• 9:25
  Mary: And them is everything.
• 9:26
Mary: Them is this feeling, them is the challenges that we face and the place we are in our lives.
• 9:32
Mary: But I'm so forgetful lately of the conquering and the successes and the mountaintops.
• 9:40
  Mary: They need more reminders.
• 9:44
Tiffany: Well, one of the notes that I also wrote yesterday was about healing and everyday conversations.
• 9:50
Tiffany: We need to stay connected.
• 9:52
Tiffany: We as women, we as wise women, need to stay connected in conversation because if you go, hide yourself away in your closet, whatever that means to you, there are so many thoughts that can get in the way.
• 10:06
Tiffany: So in those moments I really encourage women to reach out and say, hey, I need to talk.
• 10:13
Tiffany: I'm having a moment here, I need to talk.
• 10:16
Tiffany: I know you and I will text when we can't talk and we will give uplifting prayers to each other.
• 10:25
  Tiffany: That's very helpful.
• 10:27
Tiffany: As a wise woman, you can help other women do that Also.
• 10:31
Tiffany: Wise women need to nurture themselves.
• 10:34
Tiffany: So I don't know if we get into the spot we become so empty that there's just you just feel like there's nothing in the cup.
• 10:42
Tiffany: When I was at church this morning, I was learning about what we've all heard about the cup half full or the cup half empty, and I was reminded that the Lord wants our cup to be full of the Lord.
• 10:59
Tiffany: If we are half empty, what's in the other half?
• 11:04
Tiffany: Nothing, the enemy in our ear.
• 11:08
Tiffany: We need to remember that.
• 11:09
Tiffany: We need to take the time.
• 11:10
Tiffany: I know so many people have family obligations and work obligations, but what are you doing to nurture yourself?
• 11:17
Tiffany: And I ask you that, mary, I'm listening.
• 11:22
Mary: I'm hearing, I'm not doing the things that bring joy for sure.
• 11:27
Mary: So this morning I went and I planted some seeds and I moved a composter and I just watered some things and I just looked around at what God does, without even my help, growing fruit trees and the seed being underground.
• 11:48
Tiffany: One of the things that I've been doing a lot lately is grounding.
• 11:51
Tiffany: I've been reading about that a lot lately to take off my shoes and get on some clean ground and ground myself, and I find that really helpful, and you were the one that told me it only takes a moment to do that.
• 12:06
Tiffany: We don't have to stay there for hours.
• 12:09
Mary: It's supposedly instantaneous and it's better if you hold hands with a tree, so you hold onto a leaf and then that kind of completes the circuit.
• 12:17
Mary: But I'm just thinking about all the tools that we just mentioned.
• 12:21
Mary: If we could recap, I don't know if now is the right time, but we talked about having a fight song and having those weapons of war which are scripture and connecting with each other and self-care and not giving way to fear.
• 12:39
Mary: That's a verse, it's a really good fight verse.
• 12:42
Mary: When I remember it, it's do not Give way to fear.
• 12:46
Mary: Connecting with each other and just remembering everything we've been through in the past.
• 12:52
Mary: There's nothing we can't face because we've already faced it all.
• 12:56
  Mary: Amen.
• 12:58
  Tiffany: Amen.
• 12:59
Tiffany: Look at the strength in your words.
• 13:00
Tiffany: Coming back In the moment, I may have a strong voice and in the moment you may feel a little weepy, but the message is just as strong.
• 13:11
Tiffany: It's just as powerful no matter how it's delivered.
• 13:14
Tiffany: A reminder as we wrap up today.
• 13:18
Tiffany: We could have multi episodes on wise women and I'm sure we'll be coming back to talk about this topic, but, as Mary just said, we have the tools.
• 13:28
Tiffany: I'm going to do a blog post at InnocenceCommunitycom to remind everybody about this conversation today and a reminder that God has a plan and a purpose for you.
• 13:40
Tiffany: It's really important, as women, that we honor each other.
• 13:43
Tiffany: There is healing in everyday conversations and I really invite you, all of you, to join in the conversation and speak your truth.
• 13:54
Tiffany: And sometimes, in that moment, it can be so fearful.
• 14:00
Tiffany: But once you get past that veil of illusion of that fear what is fear?
• 14:06
Tiffany: False evidence appearing real, there is amazing strength in God and we invite all of you to join us in His hands.
• 14:37
Announcement: Thank you and, dear friends, have a blessed day.
