Transcript
- 0:02Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
- 0:06rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, March 28th, when
- 0:11choices matter. Every day is full of choices,
- 0:14and most of them do not look dramatic.
- 0:16In the moment. They look small, ordinary, easy
- 0:19to overlook. But over time, those small
- 0:22choices begin shaping the direction of your life.
- 0:26The words you speak, the people you trust, the habits you build,
- 0:30the temptations you entertain, the truth you obey or ignore,
- 0:33all of it matters more than you may realize.
- 0:37Proverbs chapter 13, verses 5 to 6 says the righteous hates
- 0:41falsehood, but the wicked brings shame and disgrace.
- 0:45Righteousness guards the one whose way is blameless, but sin
- 0:48overthrows the Sinner. That means righteousness is not
- 0:51just about following rules, it is protection.
- 0:54It guards your life. It keeps your heart clear and
- 0:58your path steadier. Sin, on the other hand, does not
- 1:01stay under control. It eventually turns and
- 1:04overthrows the person who thought they could manage it.
- 1:08Samson's story and Judges chapters 15 to 16 shows that
- 1:11clearly. Samson was given strength by God
- 1:14and used in powerful ways. He had a calling, a gift and
- 1:18real purpose. But strength without wisdom
- 1:21becomes dangerous. Gift without character becomes
- 1:25unstable. Over time, Samson's choices open
- 1:29the door to compromise. And eventually there came that
- 1:33heartbreaking moment in Judges chapter 16 when the scripture
- 1:37says that he did not know the Lord had departed from him.
- 1:40That is a heavy warning. It reminds us that repeated
- 1:43compromise dulls spiritual awareness.
- 1:46That can happen slowly. You do not usually drift from
- 1:49God all at once. It happens through little
- 1:51permissions, a lie here, a secret there, a habit you keep
- 1:56excusing, A compromise that keeps getting easier.
- 2:00But the good news is that God warns us because He wants to
- 2:02protect us, not shame us. He is calling us to walk in
- 2:06truth because He loves us. Your gifts matter, Your calling
- 2:09matters, your future matters. So guard them.
- 2:13Do not treat lightly what God has placed in your life.
- 2:16Choose the path that keeps your heart close to Him.
- 2:19Choose what is clean, true, and wise, even when temptation
- 2:23promises something faster or easier.
- 2:26Because when choices matter, and they do, the safest place to be
- 2:29is walking closely with God. His ways may require discipline,
- 2:33but they lead to strength, peace, and purpose that lasts.
- 2:37Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for
- 2:40caring about the direction of my life.
- 2:42Help me to recognize temptation and to choose what is right,
- 2:46even when it is difficult. Guard my heart from compromise,
- 2:50falsehood, and careless decisions.
- 2:52Teach me to use the gifts you have given me with wisdom and
- 2:55humility and keep me close to You so that my life reflects
- 2:59your purpose in Jesus name, Amen.
- 3:04What if the most important question in your life deserves
- 3:06more than a shallow answer? Does God Exist is a powerful,
- 3:10thought provoking series that explores reality, meaning, and
- 3:13truth through reason, evidence, human experience, and scripture
- 3:18without preaching pressure or assumptions.
- 3:21Book 1, Something from Nothing, confronts the mystery of
- 3:24existence itself and asks why anything exists at all.
- 3:27Book 2, The Cause behind the Cosmos, examines the origin of
- 3:31the universe and whether it points beyond itself.
- 3:34Book 3, Design or Accident, wrestles with order and
- 3:37complexity. Are they products of chance or
- 3:40intelligence? Book 4, The Moral Signature,
- 3:43explores why objective right and wrong may require a source
- 3:46beyond human opinion. Book 5, The God We Cannot
- 3:49Escape, considers conscience, longing, and humanity's
- 3:52persistent awareness of God. Book 6, From Reason to
- 3:55Revelation, asks whether the God who exists would also speak.
- 3:59And Book 7, Denying God, examines the internal tensions
- 4:03of unbelief and the deeper implications of rejecting the
- 4:05divine. Written in clear, accessible
- 4:08language for seekers, skeptics, students, and curious minds,
- 4:12this series invites honest reflection and careful thinking.

- 4:30Proverbs Chapter 13 Verses 5 to 6 World English Bible A
- 4:34righteous man hates lies, but a wicked man brings shame and
- 4:38disgrace. Righteousness guards the way of
- 4:40integrity, but wickedness overthrows the Sinner.
- 4:43Judges Chapters 15 to 16 World English Bible But after a while,
- 4:48in the time of wheat harvest, Samson visited his wife with a
- 4:51young goat. He said I will go into my wife's
- 4:54room, but her father wouldn't allow him to go in.
- 4:57Her father said, I most certainly thought that you
- 5:00utterly hated her, therefore I gave her to your companion.
- 5:03Isn't her younger sister more beautiful than she?
- 5:05Please take her instead. Samson said to them.
- 5:08This time I will be blameless in the case of the Philistines when
- 5:11I harm them. Samson went and caught 300 foxes
- 5:15and took torches and turned tail to tail and put a torch in the
- 5:18middle between every two tails. When he had set the torches on
- 5:21fire, he let them go into the standing grain of the
- 5:24Philistines and burned up both the shocks and the standing
- 5:27grain and also the olive Groves. Then the Philistines said, Who
- 5:32has done this? They said Samson, the son-in-law
- 5:35of the Timnite, because he has taken his wife and given her to
- 5:38his companion. The Philistines came up and
- 5:41burned her and her father with fire.
- 5:43Samson said to them, If you behave like this, surely I will
- 5:46take revenge on you, and after that I will cease.
- 5:49He struck them hip and thigh with a great slaughter, and he
- 5:52went down and lived in The Cave in Ettams Rock.
- 5:55Then the Philistines went up, encamped in Judah and spread
- 5:58themselves in Lehi. The men of Judah said, Why have
- 6:01you come up against us? They said, We have come up to
- 6:04bind Samson to do to him as he has done to us.
- 6:07Then 3000 men of Judah went down to The Cave in Adams Rock and
- 6:11said to Samson, Don't you know that the Philistines are rulers
- 6:14over us? What then is this that you have
- 6:16done to us? He said to them as they did to
- 6:19me, so I have done to them. They said to him, We have come
- 6:22down to bind you, that we may deliver you into the hand of the
- 6:24Philistines. Samson said to them, Swear to me
- 6:27that you will not attack me yourselves.
- 6:30They spoke to him, saying, No, but we will bind you securely
- 6:33and deliver you into their hands, but surely we will not
- 6:36kill you. They bound him with two new
- 6:38ropes and brought him up from the rock when he came to Lehi.
- 6:41The Philistines shouted as they met him.
- 6:44Then Yahweh's spirit came mightily on him, and the ropes
- 6:47that were on his arms became as flax that was burned with fire,
- 6:51and his bands dropped from off his hands.
- 6:53He found a fresh jawbone of a donkey, put out his hand, took
- 6:57it, and struck 1000 men with it. Samson said.
- 7:00With the jawbone of a donkey heaps on heaps.
- 7:03With the jawbone of a donkey. I have struck 1000 men.
- 7:06When he had finished speaking, he threw the jawbone out of his
- 7:09hand, and that place was called Ramathlehi.
- 7:12He was very thirsty and called on Yahweh and said, You have
- 7:15given this great deliverance by the hand of your servant, and
- 7:18now shall I die of thirst and fall into the hands of the
- 7:21uncircumcised. But God split the hollow place
- 7:24that is in Lehi, and water came out of it.
- 7:27When he had drunk, his spirit came again and he revived.
- 7:31Therefore its name was called N Hakor, which is in Lehi to this
- 7:34day. He judged Israel 20 years in the
- 7:37days of the Philistines. Samson went to Gaza and saw
- 7:40their prostitute and went into her.
- 7:43The gazettes were told Samson is here.
- 7:45They surrounded him and laid wait for him all night in the
- 7:48gate of the city, and were quiet all the night, saying wait until
- 7:52morning light, then we will kill him.
- 7:54Samson lay until midnight, then arose at midnight and took hold
- 7:58of the doors of the gate of the city with the two posts, and
- 8:01plucked them up, bar and all, and put them on his shoulders,
- 8:04and carried them up to the top of the mountain that is before
- 8:07Hebron. It came to pass afterward that
- 8:09he loved a woman in the valley of Soric, whose name was
- 8:12Delilah. The Lords of the Philistines
- 8:14came up to her and said to her, Entice him, and see in which his
- 8:18great strength lies, and by what means we may prevail against
- 8:22him, that we may bind him to afflict him, and we will each
- 8:25give you 1100 pieces of silver. Delilah said to Samson.
- 8:29Please tell me where your great strength lies and what you might
- 8:32be bound to afflict you. Samson said to her, If they bind
- 8:36me with 7 green cords that were never dried, then shall I become
- 8:39weak and be as another man? Then the Lords of the
- 8:43Philistines brought up to her 7 green cords which had not been
- 8:46dried, and she bound him with them.
- 8:48Now she had an ambush waiting in the inner room.
- 8:51She said to him, The Philistines are on you, Samson.
- 8:54He broke the cords. As a flax thread is broken when
- 8:57it touches the fire, so his strength was not known.
- 9:00Delilah said to Samson, Behold, you have mocked me and told me
- 9:04lies, now please tell me how you might be bound.
- 9:07He said to her, If they only bind me with new ropes with
- 9:10which no work has been done, then shall I become weak and be
- 9:13as another man. So Delilah took new ropes and
- 9:16bound him with them. Then said to him, The
- 9:18Philistines are on you, Samson. The ambush was waiting in the
- 9:22inner room. He broke them off his arms like
- 9:24a thread. Delilah said to Samson, until
- 9:27now you have mocked me and told me lies.
- 9:30Tell me with what you might be bound, he said to her, If you
- 9:33weave the seven locks of my head with the fabric on the loom.
- 9:36She fastened it with the pin and said to him, The Philistines are
- 9:39on you, Samson. He awakened out of his sleep and
- 9:43plucked away the pin of the beam and the fabric.
- 9:45She said to him, How can you say I love you when your heart is
- 9:48not with me? You have mocked me these three
- 9:50times and have not told me where your great strength lies.
- 9:54When she pressed him daily with her words and urged him, his
- 9:57soul was troubled to death. He told her all his heart, and
- 10:00said to her, No razor has ever come on my head, for I have been
- 10:04a Nazarite to God from my mother's womb.
- 10:07If I am shaved, then my strength will go for me, and I will
- 10:09become weak and be like any other man.
- 10:12When Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent
- 10:15and called for the Lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up
- 10:19this once, for he has told me all his heart.
- 10:22Then the Lords of the Philistines came up to her and
- 10:24brought the money in their hand. She made him sleep on her knees,
- 10:27and she called for a man and shaved off the seven locks of
- 10:30his head. And she began to afflict him,
- 10:32and his strength went from him. She said, The Philistines are
- 10:35upon you, Samson. He awoke out of his sleep and
- 10:38said, I will go out as at other times, and shake myself free.
- 10:42But he didn't know that Yahweh had departed from him.
- 10:45The Philistines laid hold on him and put out his eyes, and they
- 10:48brought him down to Gaza and bound him with fetters of
- 10:51bronze, and he ground at the mill in the prison.
- 10:54However, the hair of his head began to grow again after he was
- 10:58shaved. The Lords of the Philistines
- 11:00gathered together to offer a great sacrifice to Dagon, their
- 11:03God, and to rejoice. For they said, Our God has
- 11:06delivered Samson, our enemy, into our hand.
- 11:09When the people saw him, they praised their God.
- 11:12For they said, Our God has delivered our enemy and the
- 11:14destroyer of our country, who has slain many of us, into our
- 11:17hand. When their hearts were merry,
- 11:19they said, Call for Samson, that he may entertain us.
- 11:23They called for Samson out of the prison and he performed
- 11:26before them. They set in between the pillars
- 11:29and Samson said to the boy who held him by the hand, Allow me
- 11:32to feel the pillars on which the house rests, that I may lean on
- 11:35them. Now the house was full of men
- 11:38and women, and all the Lords of the Philistines were there, and
- 11:41they were on the roof about 3000 men and women who saw while
- 11:45Samson performed. Samson called to Yahweh and
- 11:48said, Lord Yahweh, Remember Me please, and strengthen me
- 11:51please, only this once, God, that I may be at once avenged of
- 11:55the Philistines for my two eyes. Samson took hold of the two
- 11:59middle pillars on which the house rested and leaned on them,
- 12:02the one with his right hand and the other with his left.
- 12:05Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines.
- 12:08He bowed himself with all his might, and the house fell on the
- 12:11Lords and on all the people who were in it.
- 12:13So the dead that he killed at his death we're more than those
- 12:16who he killed in his life. Then his brothers and all the
- 12:19House of his father came down and took him and brought him up
- 12:23and buried him between Zora and Eshtal in the burial site of man
- 12:26O his father, he judged Israel 20 years.
