  Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations

  rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, March 28th, when

  choices matter. Every day is full of choices,
• 0:14
  and most of them do not look dramatic.
• 0:16
  In the moment. They look small, ordinary, easy
• 0:19
  to overlook. But over time, those small
• 0:22
  choices begin shaping the direction of your life.
• 0:26
  The words you speak, the people you trust, the habits you build,
• 0:30
  the temptations you entertain, the truth you obey or ignore,
• 0:33
  all of it matters more than you may realize.
• 0:37
  Proverbs chapter 13, verses 5 to 6 says the righteous hates
• 0:41
  falsehood, but the wicked brings shame and disgrace.
• 0:45
  Righteousness guards the one whose way is blameless, but sin
• 0:48
  overthrows the Sinner. That means righteousness is not
• 0:51
  just about following rules, it is protection.
• 0:54
  It guards your life. It keeps your heart clear and
• 0:58
  your path steadier. Sin, on the other hand, does not
• 1:01
  stay under control. It eventually turns and
• 1:04
  overthrows the person who thought they could manage it.
• 1:08
  Samson's story and Judges chapters 15 to 16 shows that
• 1:11
  clearly. Samson was given strength by God
• 1:14
  and used in powerful ways. He had a calling, a gift and
• 1:18
  real purpose. But strength without wisdom
• 1:21
  becomes dangerous. Gift without character becomes
• 1:25
  unstable. Over time, Samson's choices open
• 1:29
  the door to compromise. And eventually there came that
• 1:33
  heartbreaking moment in Judges chapter 16 when the scripture
• 1:37
  says that he did not know the Lord had departed from him.
• 1:40
  That is a heavy warning. It reminds us that repeated
• 1:43
  compromise dulls spiritual awareness.
• 1:46
  That can happen slowly. You do not usually drift from
• 1:49
  God all at once. It happens through little
• 1:51
  permissions, a lie here, a secret there, a habit you keep
• 1:56
  excusing, A compromise that keeps getting easier.
• 2:00
  But the good news is that God warns us because He wants to
• 2:02
  protect us, not shame us. He is calling us to walk in
• 2:06
  truth because He loves us. Your gifts matter, Your calling
• 2:09
  matters, your future matters. So guard them.
• 2:13
  Do not treat lightly what God has placed in your life.
• 2:16
  Choose the path that keeps your heart close to Him.
• 2:19
  Choose what is clean, true, and wise, even when temptation
• 2:23
  promises something faster or easier.
• 2:26
  Because when choices matter, and they do, the safest place to be
• 2:29
  is walking closely with God. His ways may require discipline,
• 2:33
  but they lead to strength, peace, and purpose that lasts.
• 2:37
  Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for
• 2:40
  caring about the direction of my life.
• 2:42
  Help me to recognize temptation and to choose what is right,
• 2:46
  even when it is difficult. Guard my heart from compromise,
• 2:50
  falsehood, and careless decisions.
• 2:52
  Teach me to use the gifts you have given me with wisdom and
• 2:55
  humility and keep me close to You so that my life reflects
• 2:59
  your purpose in Jesus name, Amen.

  Please take her instead. Samson said to them.

  This time I will be blameless in the case of the Philistines when

  I harm them. Samson went and caught 300 foxes
• 5:15
  and took torches and turned tail to tail and put a torch in the
• 5:18
  middle between every two tails. When he had set the torches on
• 5:21
  fire, he let them go into the standing grain of the
• 5:24
  Philistines and burned up both the shocks and the standing
• 5:27
  grain and also the olive Groves. Then the Philistines said, Who

  has done this? They said Samson, the son-in-law

  Samson said to them, If you behave like this, surely I will

  take revenge on you, and after that I will cease.

  He struck them hip and thigh with a great slaughter, and he

  went down and lived in The Cave in Ettams Rock.

  Then the Philistines went up, encamped in Judah and spread
• 5:58
  themselves in Lehi. The men of Judah said, Why have

  you come up against us? They said, We have come up to
• 6:04
  bind Samson to do to him as he has done to us.
• 6:07
  Then 3000 men of Judah went down to The Cave in Adams Rock and
• 6:11
  said to Samson, Don't you know that the Philistines are rulers
• 6:14
  over us? What then is this that you have
• 6:16
  done to us? He said to them as they did to
• 6:19
  me, so I have done to them. They said to him, We have come
• 6:22
  down to bind you, that we may deliver you into the hand of the
• 6:24
  Philistines. Samson said to them, Swear to me
• 6:27
  that you will not attack me yourselves.
• 6:30
  They spoke to him, saying, No, but we will bind you securely
• 6:33
  and deliver you into their hands, but surely we will not
• 6:36
  kill you. They bound him with two new
• 6:38
  ropes and brought him up from the rock when he came to Lehi.
• 6:41
  The Philistines shouted as they met him.
• 6:44
  Then Yahweh's spirit came mightily on him, and the ropes
• 6:47
  that were on his arms became as flax that was burned with fire,
• 6:51
  and his bands dropped from off his hands.
• 6:53
  He found a fresh jawbone of a donkey, put out his hand, took
• 6:57
  it, and struck 1000 men with it. Samson said.

  With the jawbone of a donkey heaps on heaps.

  With the jawbone of a donkey. I have struck 1000 men.
• 7:06
  When he had finished speaking, he threw the jawbone out of his
• 7:09
  hand, and that place was called Ramathlehi.

  He was very thirsty and called on Yahweh and said, You have
• 7:15
  given this great deliverance by the hand of your servant, and
• 7:18
  now shall I die of thirst and fall into the hands of the
• 7:21
  uncircumcised. But God split the hollow place
• 7:24
  that is in Lehi, and water came out of it.
• 7:27
  When he had drunk, his spirit came again and he revived.
• 7:31
  Therefore its name was called N Hakor, which is in Lehi to this
• 7:34
  day. He judged Israel 20 years in the
• 7:37
  days of the Philistines. Samson went to Gaza and saw
• 7:40
  their prostitute and went into her.

  him, that we may bind him to afflict him, and we will each

  give you 1100 pieces of silver. Delilah said to Samson.

  Please tell me where your great strength lies and what you might
• 8:32
  be bound to afflict you. Samson said to her, If they bind
• 8:36
  me with 7 green cords that were never dried, then shall I become
• 8:39
  weak and be as another man? Then the Lords of the
• 8:43
  Philistines brought up to her 7 green cords which had not been
• 8:46
  dried, and she bound him with them.
• 8:48
  Now she had an ambush waiting in the inner room.
• 8:51
  She said to him, The Philistines are on you, Samson.
• 8:54
  He broke the cords. As a flax thread is broken when
• 8:57
  it touches the fire, so his strength was not known.
• 9:00
  Delilah said to Samson, Behold, you have mocked me and told me
• 9:04
  lies, now please tell me how you might be bound.
• 9:07
  He said to her, If they only bind me with new ropes with
• 9:10
  which no work has been done, then shall I become weak and be
• 9:13
  as another man. So Delilah took new ropes and
• 9:16
  bound him with them. Then said to him, The
• 9:18
  Philistines are on you, Samson. The ambush was waiting in the
• 9:22
  inner room. He broke them off his arms like
• 9:24
  a thread. Delilah said to Samson, until
• 9:27
  now you have mocked me and told me lies.
• 9:30
  Tell me with what you might be bound, he said to her, If you
• 9:33
  weave the seven locks of my head with the fabric on the loom.
• 9:36
  She fastened it with the pin and said to him, The Philistines are
• 9:39
  on you, Samson. He awakened out of his sleep and
• 9:43
  plucked away the pin of the beam and the fabric.
• 9:45
  She said to him, How can you say I love you when your heart is
• 9:48
  not with me? You have mocked me these three
• 9:50
  times and have not told me where your great strength lies.
• 9:54
  When she pressed him daily with her words and urged him, his
• 9:57
  soul was troubled to death. He told her all his heart, and
• 10:00
  said to her, No razor has ever come on my head, for I have been
• 10:04
  a Nazarite to God from my mother's womb.
• 10:07
  If I am shaved, then my strength will go for me, and I will
• 10:09
  become weak and be like any other man.
• 10:12
  When Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent
• 10:15
  and called for the Lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up
• 10:19
  this once, for he has told me all his heart.
• 10:22
  Then the Lords of the Philistines came up to her and
• 10:24
  brought the money in their hand. She made him sleep on her knees,
• 10:27
  and she called for a man and shaved off the seven locks of
• 10:30
  his head. And she began to afflict him,
• 10:32
  and his strength went from him. She said, The Philistines are
• 10:35
  upon you, Samson. He awoke out of his sleep and
• 10:38
  said, I will go out as at other times, and shake myself free.
• 10:42
  But he didn't know that Yahweh had departed from him.
• 10:45
  The Philistines laid hold on him and put out his eyes, and they
• 10:48
  brought him down to Gaza and bound him with fetters of
• 10:51
  bronze, and he ground at the mill in the prison.
• 10:54
  However, the hair of his head began to grow again after he was
• 10:58
  shaved. The Lords of the Philistines
• 11:00
  gathered together to offer a great sacrifice to Dagon, their
• 11:03
  God, and to rejoice. For they said, Our God has
• 11:06
  delivered Samson, our enemy, into our hand.
• 11:09
  When the people saw him, they praised their God.
• 11:12
  For they said, Our God has delivered our enemy and the
• 11:14
  destroyer of our country, who has slain many of us, into our
• 11:17
  hand. When their hearts were merry,
• 11:19
  they said, Call for Samson, that he may entertain us.
• 11:23
  They called for Samson out of the prison and he performed
• 11:26
  before them. They set in between the pillars
• 11:29
  and Samson said to the boy who held him by the hand, Allow me
• 11:32
  to feel the pillars on which the house rests, that I may lean on
• 11:35
  them. Now the house was full of men
• 11:38
  and women, and all the Lords of the Philistines were there, and
• 11:41
  they were on the roof about 3000 men and women who saw while
• 11:45
  Samson performed. Samson called to Yahweh and
• 11:48
  said, Lord Yahweh, Remember Me please, and strengthen me
• 11:51
  please, only this once, God, that I may be at once avenged of
• 11:55
  the Philistines for my two eyes. Samson took hold of the two
• 11:59
  middle pillars on which the house rested and leaned on them,
• 12:02
  the one with his right hand and the other with his left.
• 12:05
  Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines.
• 12:08
  He bowed himself with all his might, and the house fell on the
• 12:11
  Lords and on all the people who were in it.
• 12:13
  So the dead that he killed at his death we're more than those
• 12:16
  who he killed in his life. Then his brothers and all the
• 12:19
  House of his father came down and took him and brought him up
• 12:23
  and buried him between Zora and Eshtal in the burial site of man
• 12:26
  O his father, he judged Israel 20 years.
