Some things that happen to us are simply not OK. Betrayal is not OK. Abuse is not OK. Injustice is not OK. Joseph understood that firsthand—hated by his brothers, thrown into a pit, sold into slavery, falsely accused, and imprisoned.

Yet Genesis 50:20 reveals a powerful truth: God does not have to call evil good in order to bring good out of evil. Joseph could acknowledge exactly what had been done to him—“you meant evil against me”—while also recognizing that evil did not get the final word: “but God meant it for good.”
