- 1:50Said hey. On the Brooklyn Wheel.
- 1:55We're not in Brooklyn, so we're in upstate New York in Dutchess
- 1:58County. I'm originally from.
- 2:00Raucous. I guess you guys don't know each
- 2:04other that well. Yo, what is up?
- 2:23What is up? Happy Sunday, Happy fun day.
- 2:26It's another beautiful sunny day here in upstate New York.
- 2:31We are chilling, we are just relaxing and maxing, waiting for
- 2:37our guests to come on. He knows we're live.
- 2:40I told them you. Know so we just like to say
- 2:51welcome to another show and. We're back live this week guys,
- 2:54don't worry. We took a week off.
- 2:55We might take another week off, depends on how we feel.
- 2:58Yeah, but you know what, if we take a week off, it's not going
- 3:00to be without content or something.
- 3:04So because last week we didn't put nothing out for you guys.
- 3:08Yeah, we didn't do nothing last week.
- 3:09We were tired. We were shot this weekend.
- 3:15Oh, on the 10th we have. What's your name coming up?
- 3:18Yours. Yeah, should be coming to hang
- 3:20out. I don't know if we're going to
- 3:21film anything, but we'll see. We'll see.
- 3:24I do want to get the tent up here because I'm going to put
- 3:26the tent up. We'll see.
- 3:29Well, if we don't need it, though, we don't.
- 3:30We don't have to put the tent up.
- 3:31We may not even need it. So I got to bring up the other
- 3:37chair. So what's going on, everybody?
- 3:41Let's talk about some wrestling. What?
- 3:42Are what are we going to talk about?
- 3:44Let's talk about some wrestling. What are we going to talk about?
- 3:48Or should I say, what do you want to talk about?
- 3:52Because there was a. Lot of shit this week there.
- 3:55Was a lot that went on just last night.
- 3:59Actually, just all day yesterday you had Worlds Collide at 3:00,
- 4:05Money in the Bank at 7:00, MLW War Chamber at 10:00.
- 4:10GCW we were watching just now that.
- 4:12Was at 5:00. Yesterday was a busy day for
- 4:17wrestling. Very, very busy.
- 4:21Especially if you were in New York and New Jersey, you had GCW
- 4:26from 5:00 on. You had House of Glory, Mike
- 4:29Santana's Puerto Rican weekend. Yeah.
- 4:35I think that was it, but GCW went all day from 5:00 on, I'm
- 4:41going to say till like 10 or 12. And then today they have Cage of
- 4:48survival and that starts at 5:00 and that's a two or three hour
- 4:55affair. Oh, hello.
- 4:58Who's that's? Just me sharing it out.
- 5:04Nope, that's our guest. Can't get on, so our guest today
- 5:15is Elgalan Cigars. So when he comes on, we'll get
- 5:25him in here. But I do got to say I do like
- 5:32that WWE brought back Ron Truth Killings, AKA Ron Killings.
- 5:39That's what he's going by now. Well.
- 5:41He's going by his actual name, which is Ron Killings.
- 5:47Well, that's not as real, man. Yeah, it is.
- 5:56So, you know, it's been a busy week for us.
- 6:00We actually Friday night we went to a event with Fred from
- 6:07Espanol Pure Cigars. We actually got Fred booked for
- 6:11that event and then we went there.
- 6:13Guy throws a big event every year and he has everybody under
- 6:17the sun there. Now he wants to do, he wants to
- 6:22do micro wrestling, micro wrestling and mini kiss and
- 6:25micro kiss, mini kiss. So, you know, so we'll wait and
- 6:34see what happens there. I'm sorry guys, I'm trying to
- 6:37help our guests get on, you know?
- 6:40I guess as a translator, because he doesn't speak English when he
- 6:44talks to Joey, they both got to use Google Translate.
- 6:49So, you know, but I smoked one of his cigars.
- 6:55This is the other one. I'm getting ready to smoke the
- 7:00sentimental. When he gets on, I'll light it
- 7:05up. I think it's a Bono, I think.
- 7:08I actually have all that information that we can actually
- 7:11pull up I. Think it's a Bono so.
- 7:18So, yeah, so last night was Worldwide AAA and WWE.
- 7:27That is the first time in 31 years since the first event.
- 7:34And it's been 31 years since that event.
- 7:41And Rey Mysterio is a part of the first one and this one, and
- 7:44I don't think it's the last we see of this one.
- 7:46Nope, Nope. Because.
- 7:48It it was. The OT from Mexico came on and
- 7:51said this is 31 years old and Rey Mysterio said I was 16 when
- 7:56I started. Yep, that was a good event.
- 7:59That was from start to finish. That event was absolutely
- 8:02phenomenal. Oh, he's got his translator.
- 8:06We, we had a blast watching that event.
- 8:09That was fantastic to finally see somebody like myself who's a
- 8:13fan of that type of wrestling, the lucha libre style and you
- 8:17know, the fast-paced action that was that was big for me to watch
- 8:22on on, even though it was on YouTube.
- 8:24To see them get that national exposure right that they so well
- 8:28deserved for how many years now, correct.
- 8:32I mean, really look at all the products that came out of there.
- 8:35You know, as much as people don't like to mention his name,
- 8:37you had Del Rio come out of there.
- 8:39You had Rey Mysterio, Pentagon, Ray, Phoenix, Conan, Eddie, Art,
- 8:48Bar Negro, Casas. I mean, you got everybody come
- 8:54out of there. Just about everybody who has
- 8:57come from that style has either come through that system or
- 9:01trained in that system. And always remember lucha libre.
- 9:04They all work. They do they.
- 9:05Do they all work The left they? Work the left side.
- 9:08That's just how they're taught. Like we all work in in the
- 9:13American style, you work the right side.
- 9:16Correct. You work with the right side,
- 9:18correct? Lucha libre, you work with the
- 9:20left side. Japan, they just work with
- 9:21everything. Yeah, Japan just breaks you down
- 9:23from top to bottom, and that's too bad if you don't like it.
- 9:28We're just being serious now that that was that World's
- 9:31Collide show was, I mean, the reception they got, you know,
- 9:35from the, the lucha libre wrestler, it's from the from the
- 9:40AAA wrestlers to the to the WWE guys to the NXT kids that were a
- 9:44part of it. You know, that shows that a lot
- 9:47of those guys can hang on the mainstage, right?
- 9:51You know, especially with Lola Vice and and Javon Evans, you
- 9:55know, going out and showing out like that with, you know,
- 10:01Stephanie Vacair dollies, Chica Tormenta, you know, to to be
- 10:07able to do that and hang with them was insane, you know, and
- 10:11then V Kingo to come out and get the reception.
- 10:13He got wrestling Chad Gable, which was awesome.
- 10:18You know, that was an absolutely fantastic show from top to
- 10:23bottom. And actually you got a match out
- 10:26of that show because in the first match with Octagon,
- 10:34Dominic Mysterio and him attacked each other and they got
- 10:38a match on Money in the Bank, right?
- 10:40So that's, that's your, that's what I mean by the national
- 10:42exposure nationwide. Worldwide exposure is, you know,
- 10:46he went from that to AAA and now he went from AAA earlier in the
- 10:53day, which a lot of the guys did from AAA.
- 10:56What's collide? They went to Money in the Bank.
- 10:59You had Stephanie who competed earlier El Grande Americano,
- 11:04which is sounds like a latte. Grande Americano, We all know
- 11:12what CB means. No CG is Chad Gable.
- 11:14CG is Chad Gable. But that'll be that'll be
- 11:17released at a later date, I'm sure.
- 11:20Again, Money in the Bank was another show that was top to
- 11:22bottom really good. They had five matches, six
- 11:25matches. And that show from top to bottom
- 11:28was good. The men, the men's Money in the
- 11:30Bank obviously, as always, shows out.
- 11:32The women showed out like they should have for that match.
- 11:38John Cena and Logan Paul and Jay and Cody.
- 11:40Obviously it was a show to begin with.
- 11:43And then you have Ron and truth killings and.
- 11:45Then Ron Killings came back and laid out John Cena.
- 11:50Now where you go with that? I think you go with that and the
- 11:56next event they run that. They run that back and let Ron
- 12:01be Ron. Correct.
- 12:03They let him be the star that he can be, the N.W.A champion, you
- 12:07know, that former championship lineage that he has.
- 12:10They should just let him be that.
- 12:12What? Are both fields.
- 12:14No, that. Yeah, I think so.
- 12:17So, you know, I'm. I'm curious to see where they go
- 12:22with Ron now. I don't.
- 12:23Know. I I'm not that our truth wasn't
- 12:27good, but I kind of, I think the R truth gimmick itself ran its
- 12:32course. You know what?
- 12:32I forgot, I forgot my new hat. I have a new hat for you people.
- 12:36I'm going to go get it when we take this commercial, you know.
- 12:38What I mean, I think I think that ran its course at this
- 12:40point, the R truth gimmick and it's not it wasn't wasn't a bad
- 12:43gimmick. But now I think it's time he he
- 12:48drops the R truth and he comes out as Ron killings or Ron the
- 12:51truth killings, however you want to do it.
- 12:54But it's going forward that Ron Killings is the name he's going
- 12:57to go by. We'll see what they do with
- 13:00that. And let's give a shout out to
- 13:03MBR Radio. Let's give a shout out to BAMF
- 13:06Cigars. Espinaputo cigars, which by the
- 13:11way, Speaking of Espinaputo, when we were with him on Friday,
- 13:16he gave us a taste or two, actually two of his new
- 13:22unreleased cigars that are coming out soon called The
- 13:24Little Beast. And it is.
- 13:29It is fantastic. Y'all better have a fucking
- 13:31sandwich. It's going to be.
- 13:33It's not a. Y'all better have a sandwich
- 13:35before you eat it. It's going to be a fantastic
- 13:37show. Actually, what's going on?
- 13:39Right, That's him. So that'll be that's going to be
- 13:48a fantastic cigar for when you guys come out.
- 13:50We'll have him back on the show with that one.
- 13:52Yes, he's going to come back. Already spoke to him, that's a
- 13:55done deal. He's going to be back.
- 13:57So you know, that's something you guys are going to look
- 14:02forward to. But I mean, listen, if you
- 14:06didn't go watch Worlds Collide yesterday then.
- 14:08You're fucked up if. You didn't watch Money in the
- 14:09Bank yesterday. I suggest that you go back
- 14:12today. Not even watch now.
- 14:13It's falling today. Right today, today on Sunday
- 14:16after the show at 12:30. I suggest you guys I.
- 14:18Was falling asleep. Go on.
- 14:20YouTube watch Worlds Collide and I suggest you go to Peacock and
- 14:24you watch Money in the Bank. Money in the bank was slim.
- 14:27And when you're done on with Money in the Bank and What's
- 14:30Collide, what you can do is you can go to YouTube and you can
- 14:34watch Major League Wrestling's War Chamber because that again,
- 14:38was a great show. And then obviously you guys
- 14:42don't have Thriller. Most of you might not.
- 14:44If you do, I suggest you go watch Thriller if you're a A
- 14:52well, Thriller has a little bit of everything for everybody, not
- 14:54just GCW, not just all the other shows.
- 14:59They have another show as well. You can go back and watch their
- 15:03their first two shows, right? ACW, you could go watch the
- 15:06Poughkeepsie Rumble and you could go watch Oh my God, what's
- 15:13the name of the second show? I forget.
- 15:16I don't know, but the third show is coming up in the third.
- 15:18Show Fallout is coming up July 18th, so you should definitely
- 15:24go watch those as well on their awesome Championship Wrestling
- 15:30shows were phenomenal. I mean, you watch both shows,
- 15:33they were awesome. They were very good.
- 15:35They were good, they were fantastic.
- 15:37They were good shows. For a new company starting out
- 15:39to have those two shows back-to-back within a couple of
- 15:42months of each other? And then to bring Raven in.
- 15:44Raven Dreamer. Dreamer.
- 15:48Crowbar. I mean, this guy's outrageous.
- 15:53They're they're doing Joe Gertner.
- 15:55Who turned on him, by the way? Yeah.
- 15:57But you know that those shows were were phenomenal.
- 16:01If you're a deathmatch fan or appreciate that art of
- 16:05wrestling, that's that's on there as well with GCW and Game
- 16:09Changer Wrestling. I was in the middle of actually
- 16:14watching Tournament Survival 10 before I came on here, and now
- 16:19tonight at 5:00 is Cage's Survival.
- 16:23So it's going to be, I think the main event is Joey Janella and
- 16:26Atticus Kogar in a dog collar match inside the cage.
- 16:30That's going to be fun. That's going to be interesting.
- 16:32That's going to be very fun, so. Guys, we got to take a
- 16:37commercial break. Yep.
- 16:38Our guest is here, so we're going to take a break.
- 16:40We're going. To take a break and we'll be
- 16:41right back. See you.
- 16:46And I got to show you guys the new updated logo too when we
- 16:49come back that I worked on and revamped.
- 21:21Yo, what is up? What is up?
- 21:23We are back. I am the big dog, he is the
- 21:27vanilla gorilla and we are the best podcast on the Internet.
- 21:33Turnbuckles and stogies pod. Just so y'all know, we in the
- 21:38top 100. According to AI.
- 21:41We in the top 100. According to AI and I'll read it
- 21:45directly from what I got, 'cause I I didn't get this somebody it

- 22:00also appears as #53 for cigar brands and 74 for special
- 22:05appearances. So that's what we do.
- 22:07So now ladies and gentlemen, we bringing on our guest, Mr. Felix
- 22:12Messer and El Galan. Cigars.
- 22:23Oh my gosh, give me a second. There we go.
- 22:27The interview of the week is brought to you by Jersey Mikes,
- 22:31a sub above. And we are here guys.
- 22:40We are here 1 and 2. Welcome, welcome.
- 22:46Bueno Dia. Bueno Dia, how you?
- 22:52Doing good morning. So basically he's telling the
- 23:04audience that I'll be translating for him at no
- 23:07charge. Well, I.
- 23:11Appreciate you taking your time out of your busy schedule to
- 23:13come on. He's a he's a great friend of
- 23:16mine. It's a pleasure, pleasure.
- 23:17It's a pleasure joining you guys.
- 23:19So basically his name is Felix Mesa from El Gallant Cigars and
- 23:23he'll be and you guys will take over and I'll just be the the
- 23:26middleman in a good way. So.
- 23:28So how long have you been doing cigars, Felix?
- 23:33Felix EO queren savel por cuanto tiempo utea
- 23:46in the cigar industry in the United States.
- 23:48He started it in 2010 with El Gallant Cigars.
- 24:03But if you trace his roots back to Cuba, his family, he's
- 24:07actually a fourth generation cigar grower and cigar maker.
- 24:11So he's actually the he's the 4th generation.
- 24:14Wow, You know, we, we've had people like that on here and we
- 24:20appreciate them. Again, like I said, and I
- 24:22appreciate him sending us cigars because the other box is still
- 24:26the other box is still the. Other box is still somewhere.
- 24:29In the post office. We have no idea where.
- 24:31It is the one that he sent overnight.
- 24:33We got the next day. The other one is still floating
- 24:35around somewhere because I, I, I filed A complaint with the post
- 24:39office and I still haven't seen it.
- 24:42So, you know, just let him know that, that you know, it's still
- 24:45floating around. As soon as I get it, I'll let
- 24:47him know. Yeah, the important thing is
- 24:56that at least you have something that you can try
- 25:12today. Enjoy SO.
- 25:15I'm smoking the sentimento. The big one, The big one, Toro.
- 25:22Sizes. Yeah.
- 25:24So is this Albano or Connecticut?
- 25:28Check this out guys, I have my own so El queresa re SE
- 25:36sentimento E la capa ES albano or siete Connecticut.
- 25:40No. Did I get one capa ET una capa
- 25:42guano pero E Clara? He says that it the wrapper is a
- 25:47Havano, but it's a lighter Havano, but it is definitely a
- 25:50Havano wrapper. I told you that.
- 25:52One's in my box. I don't I didn't smoke that one
- 25:54yet. I'm.
- 25:55Sweating, I said to my son, when I took it out, I said this looks
- 25:59like a very light Habano and I'm not a big Connecticut fan, so
- 26:02I'm like, this is a Habano and I didn't taste it until I brought
- 26:05you guys on. But I got to say, when we got
- 26:09his cigars the other day, I smoked a small one.
- 26:13What was it, Joe? I saw, yes.
- 26:17The the small one. Oh my God, man, I was like blown
- 26:23away. I was like, whoa.
- 26:25It's that that's the one. I have a picture as well.
- 26:28That is a flavor bomb. Yeah.
- 27:03He says those cigars, the smaller one that's like a
- 27:06special edition and the what he uses for the blend, especially
- 27:11for the wrapper, it's his own special edition, limited edition
- 27:14from Nicaraguan by him in Nicaragua.
- 27:17Wow, So, so let me ask you this. What's up, man?
- 27:23So tell us a little bit about yourself and, and, and you know,
- 27:27tell us how you already said how you got in it, but tell us what
- 27:33made you want to put out your own cigars.
- 27:41In 2000, what was it 2002, 1000? 10 yo vengo dona cuarta heracion
- 28:03de una familia cuana por parte madre Y parte Padre Y entonce
- 28:09aradia Y como de jasa amente no trope en cua de cread Marca
- 28:16propia El saline de cua tu ES initiative opera El savel El
- 28:21Mundo El nombre MI familia is representa MI familia.
- 28:27So he states that he actually his general, his mom and dad,
- 28:32both those generations on both his father's side and his
- 28:35mother's sides are both the both the tobacco growers and cigar
- 28:39makers. But unfortunately in Cuba, you
- 28:42cannot create your own personal brand.
- 28:45Everything is government controlled.
- 28:47So when he came to the United States, he wanted to pay homage
- 28:50to his family and to that history.
- 28:52So he created the company which is called El Galan Cigars.
- 28:56And it's, even though he didn't mention, I can mention real
- 28:58quick, El Galan is like a gentleman that dresses extremely
- 29:02well, very, you know, and in the cigar industry in Cuba, they're
- 29:05they're known the oldest generation for always dressing
- 29:08very nice when they do the events.
- 29:10And that name was what they used to call his grandfather El
- 29:13Galan, the Handsome 1. So that's the name and he'll
- 29:17tell you about other things, but other names are also family
- 29:19related. But I'll let it come up to that.
- 29:22But yes, that's what happens. So as an honor on homage to his
- 29:25family, he created his own brand here where he could in the
- 29:28United States, where he was free to have his own brand.
- 29:31OK. So has he, has he gotten to any
- 29:35stores in in the United States? Has is he in any stores or you
- 29:41know? Yes, but I'll let him.
- 29:52In New Jersey, Florida. In Colorado, In Connectico.
- 30:15Yeah, so I'm sure the states you you recognize, but he's in
- 30:18Georgia. He's in Florida, Colorado,
- 30:21Connecticut, and in the state of New Jersey.
- 30:25He has three upcoming events. And if you allow me to on
- 30:30Thursday, yes, on Thursday, June 12th, he'll be at the Cigar
- 30:34Emporium and that's at Six O 7 Ridge Rd. and that it's in
- 30:40Lindhurst, New Jersey. On the 13th he has another event
- 30:45coming up which is at the the Cigar Shop and that's at 568
- 30:50Bergen Blvd. that's in Richfield, NJ.
- 30:54And the third one coming up will be Saturday, June 14th and it's
- 30:58called Oroguano and that's at 744 N Delsey Dr., which is in
- 31:03Vilnon, also New Jersey. So those three events coming up
- 31:07in the state are coming up, but he is definitely in in lots of
- 31:11stores in here in Florida and other States and he'll be grown.
- 31:14Wow, you know that that that's amazing because you know Joey,
- 31:19Joey's seen him on like we have a friend of ours he.
- 31:23I've seen I've seen a few people post his cigars all over
- 31:27Instagram. That.
- 31:29Somebody hit me up and was like, hey, you should try to have him
- 31:31on. I had his cigars or you know, I
- 31:34tried one of his cigars that he had sent me and they were really
- 31:36good. You should reach out and and you
- 31:39know, see if you can have them on the show go.
- 31:43Ahead we. Try, we try to, we try to do
- 31:49like a lot of the boutiques of companies and and I say boutique
- 31:53because you know, we try to promote like you guys, like all
- 31:57the up and coming people. That's what we do.
- 32:00So, you know, so when Joey seen that, I was like, oh, let's
- 32:03research and. And honestly, the the bands for
- 32:07his cigars were very intriguing. Yes, the bands are very
- 32:10intriguing and I, you know, most people say how do you buy a
- 32:14cigar? I say look at the bands.
- 32:17You see you? I'm going to deviate.
- 32:18I'm going to let him. Well, first I'm going to let him
- 32:20know what you just said. Feli Elindika.
- 32:29The photos, the tobaccos and Instagram and social, et cetera.
- 33:07None. He says, So basically, before I
- 33:27give you the answer, you're like me.
- 33:29I tell people men are visual women filled with a heart.
- 33:31So I look at bands myself. So anyways, we have that in
- 33:34common. He also wanted me to let you
- 33:37know that he has his bands. Actually, they're the bands are
- 33:40also, if you look at the one you're smoking, which is I'm
- 33:42looking at it right now. That is, believe it or not, it's
- 33:45called Dona Nieves. OK.
- 33:47That is, that is his grandmother in the picture.
- 33:51Really. Yeah, she.
- 33:52Was they were all cigar growers, so.
- 33:54Wow, that is an actual. Picture of his grandmother yes,
- 33:57he sentimiento me his feelings and that one too.
- 34:01Yes, yes, so that one is yes, and the bands are designed by
- 34:07Mani Diarte. He's very I mean, if you haven't
- 34:10heard the name, he's super well known in history as a great
- 34:13designer and he's a personal friend of his and he's designed
- 34:16all his bands etcetera. But that's the I wanted to let
- 34:20you know eventually I was going to bring that up.
- 34:22That is his his grandmother. In the picture has a homage to
- 34:48her. He says the same that I told you
- 34:53that is a picture of your grandma.
- 34:54If you look at the picture, a lot of people say because of the
- 34:57way she dressed to protect from the sun, some people say, oh, it
- 35:00looks like an older man, but it actually says his grandmother.
- 35:03And so, like I said, it was homage to her.
- 35:07Somebody said the. One that.
- 35:09Several of Saddam's Cuban or several of Saddam's Cohibas and
- 35:13Monte Cristos. That's fun.
- 35:18I'm I'm sure they've been aged properly, but the one that I
- 35:26would like OK, the the other one that yes, that is.
- 35:32Yeah, that's the one. That that one is a limited
- 35:40edition, so trust me, you're it's a great cigar.
- 35:43I smoked them all, but that one is his that that that is just a
- 35:47special edition. He only makes certain amounts
- 35:49and that it's over. But it's really good.
- 35:52It's they're both showing me they're all excellent.
- 35:55So let me ask you this, excuse me, So the Grand Reserve, how
- 36:01many did he put out? And you can't buy them no more
- 36:04once they're done, right? El El Gran Reserve, Balquera.
- 36:17Cuantos si Sierra me. OK.
- 36:39In that particular cigar, it's H Pitola had 8000 cigars.
- 36:44He says the process of aging is, I mean, he's very picky.
- 36:48I know that it's the process of aging is very delicate for him.
- 36:53So he'll only do a certain amount and then in order for him
- 36:56to put him out in the market, he needs to make sure that the
- 36:58aging is again, properly done to put out the the the limited
- 37:03edition once again, it'll come out, but he waits for the right
- 37:07time. Otherwise, he's not going to put
- 37:08it out. So I like the.
- 37:13Fact that he takes a lot of pride in always and, and the
- 37:17blending of the cigars and, and all that because you get a lot
- 37:22of these, these companies that you see on on social media or
- 37:25wherever they're either white labeling projects like buying
- 37:29from somebody and putting their own stuff on it or, you know,
- 37:33they're they're blending, they're blending it, so to say,
- 37:36but then they're rushing it out. They're not taking the time to
- 37:39let it properly age and sit and, and, you know, let everything
- 37:44kind of, I guess, mixed together, so to say.
- 37:52Correct. El quad represent 2 number.
- 38:43So basically it's more or less he's telling me what you said
- 38:47yourself. He says that first of all, he
- 38:48has a lot of pride because it's his family name and he will not
- 38:51put a product out there that hasn't been aged properly,
- 38:54blended properly. Just like you said, he goes, I
- 38:56know a lot of people wait one 2-3 years and they put it on and
- 38:59they claim it's 10 years. He goes, I don't do that.
- 39:02If I put something in the market, I know it will be
- 39:04detected. But those that know, like you
- 39:06guys, so when you smoke you're going to say wow, this is the
- 39:09real deal, not something that was rushed.
- 39:11So he'll never do that because it represents his family name.
- 39:14And he will not, he will not, you know, make them do that.
- 39:19So how many years? How many years does he let the
- 39:22leaf age before you put? It.
- 40:11Siamo siamo Siam parte de MI familia SEM parte de MI de MI de
- 40:16MI trabajo do it. So for the limited editions, at
- 40:26least at least four years. Nothing.
- 40:28It has to be at least four years, if not a little more.
- 40:31But he goes, otherwise he'll not put it out.
- 40:32Why? Because when you smoke cigars,
- 40:35you become part of his family, part of his legacy and you he
- 40:38wants the public to enjoy it and not feel that they were, I'm
- 40:42going to use my own word like cheated, you know, by by selling
- 40:45something that it was not so those the limited minimum for
- 40:49years and and otherwise he'll not he will not put them in the
- 40:53market. OK.
- 40:54So we have a question here from somebody.
- 40:57It says How will the tariffs affect the cigar market?
- 41:28Yeah. He says that they're going to
- 41:36have to wait till everything settles down as far as like how
- 41:38much exactly the tariffs are going to be beat to see how it's
- 41:41going to change the game and if the the customer will be passed
- 41:45on, you know the cost of the tears.
- 41:49But he goes, it's a waiting game.
- 41:51It's still up and down. They don't know really yet, but
- 41:54he'll deal with it when it comes down.
- 41:57On a side note, and I know I'm deviating talking about somebody
- 42:01else, but Steve Saka did a really good thing of explanation
- 42:06of the tariffs. Yes, I was just going to say, I,
- 42:09I was just going to say if you go to Steve Saka's page, whether
- 42:13I think it's the Dunbarton page, he did like and he wrote up a
- 42:16great explanation of how it's going.
- 42:19That's why I hate Yeah the. Tariffs.
- 42:21So go ahead and tell everybody, I couldn't remember any of that
- 42:24if you tried. His.
- 42:25His. Explanation was so detailed and
- 42:27broke down really that he said you're not going to know, I
- 42:30think until like 2026 or something like that when it
- 42:33finally settles down, right? It was crazy.
- 42:37But you're not right now, I know like for example, in the
- 42:39industry, pretty much everything that's here already, some of
- 42:42them are down here in the warehouses.
- 42:44That's the regular price, let's call it that.
- 42:47OK. So new products that maybe
- 42:49they're making and ones it takes effect, those are the ones
- 42:52that'll be affected. So everybody's doing OK.
- 42:54If you want to be fair, whatever you have already pre tariffs,
- 42:57you sell them at that cost. And then when things change,
- 43:00then you deal with it. You you do your math and and and
- 43:03you deal with. It so the brand name for him is
- 43:09El Galan Cigars. Correct.
- 43:14Yes. Can people order directly from
- 43:16him? E OK, so he stays out of if
- 43:42anybody wants to buy wholesale, this company will.
- 43:56Sell wholesale, but in this case it's for a customer.
- 44:03And I forgot about there is a, a store down in here in Florida.
- 44:07It's in, in Broward County. It's called Cuenca cigars.
- 44:10They carry, I mean tons of cigars there and they have
- 44:13great, great prices. They do have free cigars and
- 44:15they do sell online. Anything they have in store they
- 44:18do sell online. So it's called Cuenca cigars,
- 44:22CUENCA Cuenca cigars and they do sell online.
- 44:27Yes, it'll. Post it up when we're done.
- 44:29This way, it's on it. So, people.
- 44:31Oh, when they go back 45 minute mark.
- 44:32Oh, got it. We got a commercial break.
- 44:35Commercial break to pay the bills and then we'll be back.
- 44:37We'll be right back, all. Right.
- 44:47Like I said, I don't know, OK? Yo, we are back.
- 49:25We are back. I am your host, the big dog, the
- 49:29vanilla gorilla, and this is turnbuckles is totally spot top
- 49:32100 on the Internet. So check us out.
- 49:35And today we have we have my man with us who owns El El.
- 49:42El. Galan cigars, Felix and his
- 49:45interpreter. So if you all don't understand,
- 49:49that's why we have him in there, because he doesn't speak
- 49:52English. So that's why we.
- 49:53Have that, but it's. OK.
- 49:54But it's OK because we bring everybody on.
- 49:57So now let's go. Oh, that's what I was pulling
- 50:01up. What?
- 50:04Somebody asks a question. No, no, no.
- 50:06Well, no. But where are they?
- 50:12So he's got a very big catalog for, as I say, a smaller
- 50:19company. He's got a very wide catalog of
- 50:24cigars and I noticed he's got a lot of ratings on his cigars as
- 50:30well. Right.
- 50:33I was just going. To say, tell us a little more
- 50:37about all of that stuff. He goes the the one that he just
- 51:21showed you is by Galang. It's called Semia Cuana, which
- 51:24means Cuban seed. He goes that was the first one
- 51:27he put out in the market. And that's the only those are
- 51:29the only bands that designed by Field.
- 51:41I mean by Riarte. A.
- 52:16OK, so he's telling me I'll go with the last one because before
- 52:20I forget, so he did one, it's called Vegas del Puria.
- 52:23Vegas means that's the name of their farm in Cuba.
- 52:26So he did that in honor of his grandparents.
- 52:28If whenever you can get a hold of that one that that is an
- 52:32amazing, amazing cigar. The other one that you don't
- 52:37have, maybe it's coming up with what he's sending you.
- 52:40It's it's got a red band. And that's the one with the
- 52:43silhouette of El Galan. You know, the handsome man that
- 52:45was his in order for his grandfather that is also
- 52:48exquisite. But it's a red, it's a red band.
- 52:51It's a red band. And the ones that he showed.
- 52:55That's not that one, right? Correct, that's the one.
- 52:57Yes, that's the. One Yeah, I.
- 53:00Don't know, I've seen. Red, you're on point.
- 53:04That is, you know what I've seen I've.
- 53:07Seen a red band and I he's. On point because I asked him
- 53:13about Semia Cuana because I know so Semia Cuana, yes they're all
- 53:17rated. He also wants to let you guys
- 53:20know that he is they he's sold in in Germany in Spain, in the
- 53:26Caribbean, but in in the reason I asked him if I could say is
- 53:29Semia Cuana, especially he's got a huge following the market in
- 53:34Spain. I said Mia Kuwana is super
- 53:36popular over there. You'll smoke and he's that 1 is
- 53:38really, really good. That was the first one he came
- 53:41up with. But in Spain it's a day it's
- 53:42it's got a great following in Europe also.
- 53:44He just wanted to let you know. Let me ask you this.
- 53:48So I've been smoking cigars 30 years he's been smoking.
- 53:51Cigars since he's. 18 He's only told 6.
- 53:54Hold it strong and even. So so my thing is.
- 53:58Beautiful rings you make. So everybody says that all
- 54:03cigars are Cuban, are Cuban seed.
- 54:06Is that true? They're they're adaptations of
- 54:08the Cuban seed. Ecuador heblo muchos mucho
- 54:14cigarro lo promueve en como que tienen producto de semia cubana.
- 54:48Nicaragua and Dominicana. OK.
- 55:13He says, yes. What happens is those are all
- 55:15varietal seeds from the original Cuban seeds and they're they're
- 55:20planted in Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and other countries.
- 55:24There are varietal seeds from the Cuban seeds, including he
- 55:28has his own varietal seeds that he grows himself for his own,
- 55:32for his company and it's a variety.
- 55:34And there are other cigar makers that have made their own
- 55:36varietal seeds originating from the Cuban seeds.
- 55:41So yes. OK, OK.
- 55:44That's what I want to know. Because, you know, like people
- 55:47say, oh, have you smoked a Cuban?
- 55:49I'm like every cigar has a Cuban seed in it and I just want to
- 55:53make sure I'm correct. Yes.
- 55:57And for the most yes, because a lot of them came or brought from
- 56:01Cuba, what have you, especially when they they went to Nicaragua
- 56:04and stuff like that. So but they've now they have
- 56:06their own varietals. What you also have to know is
- 56:10that whatever seeds you have, they're they're going to be
- 56:13complemented by the soil they're grown in.
- 56:14But so they're the rattle from Cuban seeds.
- 56:17But now they've they've. They've grown.
- 56:21Their own character, their own, yeah, their own character.
- 56:24And they become their own variety.
- 56:26But yes, they're they've made their own variety.
- 56:28I've also heard Puerto Rico started growing.
- 56:31I've also heard Puerto Rico started growing their own lease.
- 56:35Elisa que tamienga uido que Puerto Rico TE tan crescendo de
- 56:39tobacco. See.
- 57:08Yes, so he says that actually Puerto Rico had his own history
- 57:13of of, of growing cigars. They had they have great soil.
- 57:18He had the honor. He was invited.
- 57:19He sells his product in Puerto Rico and he made two young
- 57:21gentlemen that have their own farm and they asked them to
- 57:24visit the farm. And so he gave them some some
- 57:26tips on the growing of the cigars and what have you,
- 57:29because he even though he hasn't mentioned, I'll mention it for
- 57:31you guys, Felix. I mean, this is the the the true
- 57:34guy that is from when they say from seed soup box, that's him.
- 57:39He is the one in charge of creating the bridal seeds.
- 57:43He is doing the planting, the irrigation.
- 57:46He's recommend all this to me in detail that he's like what
- 57:48because each part of the soil of the area that he grows the soil,
- 57:52it doesn't require the same amount of water that at the time
- 57:55he know. He's like an encyclopedia.
- 57:57I just shut my mouth up when he talks about I'll.
- 57:59So he's from from the seeds to the planting to the pruning to
- 58:04the aging. So the blending, he's the from
- 58:08from point A to point Z. He doesn't run it.
- 58:11All. Yes, so a lot of people
- 58:13contacted him. He's got a great part, I'm
- 58:15saying this from from myself and he will help anybody.
- 58:18Sometimes in this industry, a lot of people will not thinking,
- 58:22Oh no, I'm not going to be there's no secret.
- 58:23OK, there's techniques, but there's no secret.
- 58:26But if you ask for his help, trust me, these gentlemen,
- 58:28we'll, we'll give you his advice and, and, and, and he's great.
- 58:32So I love him like a brother. So I deviated.
- 58:35But I just want to say he's a great guy and you know.
- 58:37No, that's really good. That's good because you know
- 58:39what, like him and I like, we know Jonathan Drew, we know
- 58:44Willie Herrera, Pedro, we know all of them guys and they tell
- 58:48us the same thing. But then you get guys that start
- 58:52their own cigar company and and they send you cigars to come on
- 58:57a podcast and you ask them what's in it and they go, I
- 58:59can't tell you because I signed the NDA.
- 59:02So then why are you on the podcast?
- 59:04If you can't, yeah, they're like, oh, you know, I signed
- 59:06this. I said then you can't really
- 59:07talk about your cigars. You can only sell them right?
- 59:10There you go, you know. What I mean, so it's like it's
- 59:13like and me and Joey were just talking on a break that Felix is
- 59:19besides Rick and Mike Giannini. Oh my God, he's very.
- 59:23Knowledgeable when it comes. Very, very knowledgeable.
- 59:25When it comes everything from you know the knowledge finish.
- 59:30EEO El El cetera, Yeah.
- 1:00:33So he appreciates what you what you said and I explained to him
- 1:00:36that what you said about his knowledge and things like that.
- 1:00:39And then he said the same thing I told you that he goes, there
- 1:00:41are no secrets here. I mean, there are no secrets in
- 1:00:44the industry. It's just what you're willing to
- 1:00:47help people with, right? Right.
- 1:00:49That's the bottom line with you. You know our podcast, when we
- 1:00:52started this two years ago, I never thought it would be so
- 1:00:56big. I only started because of my
- 1:00:57son. He wanted to do a cigar podcast,
- 1:00:59so I used to start out as wrestling.
- 1:01:01Originally. I used to do wrestling, so him
- 1:01:04and another him and another guy used to do like they used to
- 1:01:08just talk on Instagram. Then they said, why don't we do
- 1:01:12a podcast? So then I'm sitting there just
- 1:01:14minding my business, having a having a drink and a cigar.
- 1:01:18And they're like his his other friend goes, bring your dad on.
- 1:01:22He can get the wrestlers on. We've had wrestlers on here too.
- 1:01:25And so this is how it all started.
- 1:01:28And you know, being that we go to so many events, we've met so
- 1:01:33many people in the cigar world and the wrestling world, they're
- 1:01:38like, yo, your podcast. And we had a, what's his name?
- 1:01:42Doctor GTO We. Haven't had him on yet, no.
- 1:01:46But what's his name? Oscar Rodriguez.
- 1:01:49Oscar Rodriguez Doctor Oscar from GTO Cigars so.
- 1:01:53Joey was on, Joey was on one day and he goes, part of me, he
- 1:01:57goes, I got to tell you, Turnbuckles and Stogies is is a
- 1:02:01good podcast. You know, you don't realize who
- 1:02:03watches your stuff when you're not paying attention.
- 1:02:07You know, like he. They, they, you're a point right
- 1:02:09there. There's a lot of people that
- 1:02:11watch and don't want to admit that they watch.
- 1:02:13Yeah. He, well, he, and it was in the
- 1:02:14middle of like a, a meeting for one of the organizations we're a
- 1:02:18part of and he was driving and he, he hopped on.
- 1:02:21He's like, I just want to say, you know, I listen to
- 1:02:23turnbuckles and stogies and it's really good.
- 1:02:25I was like, oh, wow, OK. You know, 'cause like you said,
- 1:02:29you don't know who's listening or who's trying your stuff or
- 1:02:32whatever you're doing. You don't.
- 1:02:33You don't know who's paying attention to it.
- 1:02:56Hey. Once again, he.
- 1:03:11Just wanted. To close with saying yeah like
- 1:03:25there is no secrets, it's your knowledge and then it's what you
- 1:03:28want to part with, but there are no secrets, it's just knowledge.
- 1:03:31Well, that's a good. Thing man, that's a good thing
- 1:03:33because you know a lot of people, like I said to you
- 1:03:36before he's enjoying this he's enjoying that thing nice.
- 1:03:43The ash is just. It's holding.
- 1:03:52He also wanted to make. Sure that he tells you and the
- 1:04:15public, Yeah, even though he does grow on his own product.
- 1:04:17But he does purchase from friends of his that have either
- 1:04:21boutique small, you know, lands or sometimes a bigger lamp to
- 1:04:25support friends. So sometimes you'll buy their
- 1:04:27product to to make certain some of his plans.
- 1:04:30As well. And that's, that's something you
- 1:04:32don't get sometimes a lot in this industry is people helping
- 1:04:36each other by buying their products.
- 1:04:38Or, you know, whether it's it's their full cigar that they see
- 1:04:41in the shop or like, like he does with the, with the seeds or
- 1:04:45the tobacco itself to, to be able to help them and make
- 1:04:50their, their products go up by saying, Hey, I got this tobacco
- 1:04:54from whoever you know now that drives people to try their
- 1:04:58cigars too. So you know, here, here's the
- 1:05:01thing, we belong to TPA, which is Tobacco Products Association,
- 1:05:10BAMF, which is Ishmael Alavan. He started that and if he wants
- 1:05:17to join, he can join. Just tell him I sent you.
- 1:05:20And Ish has his own cigar lounge now and he only puts boutique
- 1:05:26cigars in there. So if he's joins, I think it's
- 1:05:29like 50 bucks and he puts his cigars in there and he sells the
- 1:05:33cigars. OK, so number.
- 1:06:50One he says, yeah, I don't know if you can send him or me.
- 1:06:54I'll send it to him. The information on the TPA, he's
- 1:06:57interested. OK.
- 1:06:59Oh yeah. Oh, OK, perfect.
- 1:07:01And then the other thing, he wants to make sure he goes, he
- 1:07:04goes. I have pride where I come from,
- 1:07:06but there's other countries that he wants to mention that are
- 1:07:08making great products and we should let leave.
- 1:07:11Behind. The in Mexico there, I mean, we
- 1:07:15all know the they're freaking San Andres.
- 1:07:17Madura is amazing. Also Matafina, Yes.
- 1:07:20San Andreas, Mados. Oh God, Jesus, yes.
- 1:07:24I'll be talking to you guys. I got something for you.
- 1:07:26And also definitely Brazil with Matafina and even Peru.
- 1:07:30A lot of people don't know, but Peru makes outstanding Harmano
- 1:07:35rap rappers. Really.
- 1:07:38Yes, I didn't know that. I know Brazil makes the the
- 1:07:42Matafina rappers. The Matafina, that's what he
- 1:07:44mentioned. And of course Mexico with
- 1:07:46acandres. But Peru le mencioro, que Peru
- 1:07:49Tema capa muibe a que. En la Peru, Peru.
- 1:07:52No, Peru. Oh OK.
- 1:07:57So in Peru is mainly for fillers.
- 1:08:01Yeah, for fillers. But it's a good so a lot for
- 1:08:25fillers and they're up and coming now in Peru wow yes,
- 1:08:30Colombia and even Colombia has their own cigars yes I had a
- 1:08:35friend really well then you guys I don't know he goes to the
- 1:08:40United States obviously in Connecticut, but.
- 1:08:43Also. Down here in Florida and
- 1:08:45Pennsylvania, of course, the Pennsylvania, yeah, he goes in
- 1:08:50Florida also. So, so in Florida they're
- 1:08:53they're they are making they are.
- 1:08:56We have there. There are tobacco fields here in
- 1:08:58Florida with Jeff Borowitz from Corona Cigars.
- 1:09:05Yes. Yeah.
- 1:09:07Yes. But he wants to give credit to
- 1:09:10everybody. Yes, Corona Cigar Company,
- 1:09:12that's that's one of the big retailers down in in Florida.
- 1:09:16Yeah, well. He grows his own cigars.
- 1:09:19Yeah, that's his. Grown, Florida.
- 1:09:21Grown. Yeah.
- 1:09:28Wow, that's. Interesting.
- 1:09:51No, your second law. He wants to know, give credit.
- 1:09:54Yeah. Jeff grows his own cigars.
- 1:09:57It's Florida grown and he goes. I think there's a company that
- 1:09:59supports the app, but it's through true state.
- 1:10:04He did like the the Florida sun grown.
- 1:10:10And stuff like that. He's still going.
- 1:10:17Like this? So.
- 1:10:27This. Is the way I feel.
- 1:10:33I just let it drop. I say it's for good luck.
- 1:10:35So then, but unfortunately a lot of times we come to an option.
- 1:10:39Damn it. Do I lose the ash because I got
- 1:10:41to take the bat real carefully or just.
- 1:10:44I know I usually. Try to do it carefully.
- 1:10:47I just want. To see how long I can.
- 1:10:52This is very.
- 1:11:17Good. You know, just going to fall or
- 1:11:31also maybe you know, and then it'll keep.
- 1:11:35But you guys are you're getting to that.
- 1:11:37Yeah, you get into the decision time soon.
- 1:11:40That's OK, Now is this. This is a Habano as well.
- 1:11:43The Grand. OK.
- 1:12:01So the rapper is. So he wants to get credit to.
- 1:12:39Where credit is due and he wants to mention the gentleman's last
- 1:12:43name is Vivaldo. He's Cuban born.
- 1:12:45He lives in Nicaragua. All the Corolla Variados from
- 1:12:47there are his. And he also wants to mention
- 1:12:50that that before he left Cuba, he left him with one of his own
- 1:12:54Corojo varietals. But those varietals are from the
- 1:12:58purchases from Vivaldo, a gentleman in Nicaragua that is
- 1:13:02like, I guess the father of the Corojo varietals.
- 1:13:05He just wants to give him credit.
- 1:13:06That one in particular is the Corojo 99.
- 1:13:09This is, and this cigar is, you know, it's got the, it's got the
- 1:13:13flavor, it's got a little bit of that.
- 1:13:15I say the pepper for that punch, but it's not.
- 1:13:19It's not overpowering it all. Complements each other well.
- 1:13:48Thank. You.
- 1:13:54He says much appreciated. Thank you.
- 1:13:57Thank you so much. Wow.
- 1:13:58This is all. Right, guys.
- 1:14:01So listen, we're going to take our break.
- 1:14:02If you guys want to come back, that's cool.
- 1:14:04If not, listen, I take my hat off to you guys.
- 1:14:07Thank. You.
- 1:14:09Thank you for coming on muchos Gracias I.
- 1:14:11Had a blast. Learned.
- 1:14:13Yes, I learned a lot. About his brand and I'm going to
- 1:14:18promote it every time. I smoke.
- 1:14:24Yeah, that's for sure. He says that after the break, if
- 1:14:39you want to continue, he'll continue with your eyes.
- 1:14:41He'll leave it up to you guys, OK?
- 1:14:43He's he's here for you guys, so whatever, if you have anything.
- 1:14:47No. We can keep going, sure.
- 1:14:48Yeah, we can keep going. That's fine.
- 1:14:50Let's take a break. We'll.
- 1:14:53Take a break, OK? Your microphone's over there.
- 1:18:01Yo, we are back. We are back.
- 1:18:04It is I, the big dog, the vanilla gorilla, and we are here
- 1:18:09with Felix Messer, the owner of the cigar company El Galan.
- 1:18:20Yeah, I was going to say you're you try very hard, you're trying
- 1:18:23I. Try I try very you're.
- 1:18:25Doing. Great.
- 1:18:26You're doing good. Trust me.
- 1:18:28He doesn't his his words sometimes don't make sense.
- 1:18:32It's OK then. I'm in trouble.
- 1:18:34He's been making sense to me. Oh boy.
- 1:18:40So you can only order from the the place in Florida.
- 1:18:46Quanka cigar shop, right? Well, that one in particular he
- 1:18:50mentioned because definitely they do take orders like e-mail
- 1:18:54orders and what have you. She said there's other shops
- 1:18:56that will do it that he's at, but that one in particular,
- 1:18:58trust me guys, if you contact them, they're great.
- 1:19:00That's why if you want something that will get to you safely and
- 1:19:04they have good prices, definitely use them.
- 1:19:07So now let me ask about this one because I'm curious which. 1.
- 1:19:11Well, because I I noticed you have the the box pressed Toro
- 1:19:15size I guess of this one. And then?
- 1:19:34You have that. Size.
- 1:19:37That's yes. What made him do both sizes?
- 1:20:05So he and the robusto, and that's what he used to call his
- 1:20:08grandmother. Then he.
- 1:20:20And that's his regular box. So it he's got that's the Dona
- 1:20:35Nieres and then Dona Nieres Sentimento in the Dona Nieres he
- 1:20:39has the robusto name Nievita after his grandmother.
- 1:20:42And then Minga, they used to call his mom Minga.
- 1:20:44That was her nickname. And that's 58 by by 55118.
- 1:20:54They were both really. So her nickname also came up
- 1:21:10like tomboy, masculine female and that was also named after
- 1:21:14his grandma. So now what's the count on the
- 1:21:20boxes? The Dona Nieves is 24.
- 1:21:32Count the Sentimientos is a 21 count.
- 1:21:37Wow. OK.
- 1:21:39And what's the price range on that?
- 1:21:41Imohomeno en cual El rango de precios.
- 1:21:45He goes. Florida and stays like.
- 1:22:00Pennsylvania, where there's no. Taxes per.
- 1:22:02Southeast for the tobacco they they go for about $9.
- 1:22:06Wow, that's not bad. Yeah, it's the other.
- 1:22:10That's why for a Cuenca buyer in Florida, he.
- 1:22:13Won't get those the only. One that will surpass that price
- 1:22:22range. We only comes out once in a.
- 1:22:23Year is the one that the gentleman smoking, which is the.
