- 0:22SPEAKER_00: In a world where things are changing faster than ever, it's easy to feel stressed out about every little thing.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: But part of building a long-term career as an author is knowing what's important and what's not.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: In other words, what things are worth getting stressed out over and what things shouldn't you get stressed out over.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: So here are five things you can stop worrying about so you can focus on the most important stuff.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: Number one, don't worry about having that one quote unquote perfect book.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: Instead, think in terms of writing many books, not just one single book where you deposit all of your life's wisdom and knowledge.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: Number two, don't worry about social media posts, blog posts, or other short form content that doesn't immediately get traction.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: Instead, try new things and see what sticks.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: Over time you'll learn what connects with your audience.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: Number three, don't worry about people taking a while to get excited about your book.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: Books are kind of a long-term deal.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: And after you have an initial launch period where hopefully you get some attention and eyeballs on your book, then embrace the idea of promoting the book for many years to come.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: Number four, don't worry about creating a lot of income streams right now.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: Instead, pick one thing like a course, a book, coaching, doing client work or podcasting, and instead focus on that for a while until it's successful.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: Then you can move on to creating other income streams.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: And number five, don't worry about being on all the social media platforms.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: Instead, pick one and be really active on it and engage with people for three months.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: And then once you're comfortable with that and you have kind of a system going, then you can move on to being more active on other social media platforms.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: You know, being a curious writer means that you're constantly learning and experimenting, so don't get stressed out about the next five minutes and instead worry about the long term.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: Don't let what's right in front of you majorly stress you out.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: Just deal with it, keep going, and stay focused.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: Here's today's challenge: does knowing that you don't need to worry about these things make it easier to explore your curiosity as a writer?
