- 0:25Speaker 3: It's showtime.
- 0:26Speaker 4: The following feature has been rated R by the Motion
- 0:29Speaker 4: Picture Association of America. It is intended for mature audiences
- 0:33Speaker 4: and parental discretion is advised.
- 0:36Speaker 5: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:06Speaker 6: Five more cooling in the containment chamber.
- 1:10Speaker 7: To your stations, we have a movie meltdown.
- 1:18Speaker 5: Thor's my hero.
- 1:20Speaker 1: What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown. I'm Brian.
- 1:23Speaker 8: I'm Jacqueline.
- 1:23Speaker 9: I'm Phillip.
- 1:24Speaker 10: I'm David.
- 1:25Speaker 1: And we're coming to you live via digital recording from.
- 1:29Speaker 8: Grendel's House of Horrors.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Zuzu's House of Fun. I keep incorporating Zuzu. So we
- 1:37Speaker 1: are back with another entry in the Super Series. It's
- 1:40Speaker 1: not been that long. It's never very long these days.
- 1:42Speaker 1: There's a lot of these movies. Before we fully get
- 1:48Speaker 1: rolling on this one, usually we do something else. I'm sure. Actually,
- 1:54Speaker 1: we kind of talked about it off air, which doesn't exist.
- 1:58Speaker 1: If it's not on the show, it doesn't matter. So yeah,
- 2:00Speaker 1: we actually watched the Black Panther trailer during the middle
- 2:05Speaker 1: of our Halloween festivities. but we have not actually discussed
- 2:08Speaker 1: it on the show, so do we want to geek
- 2:10Speaker 1: out over Black Panther?
- 2:13Speaker 8: I mean, all I'm doing is just shuddering and quaking
- 2:16Speaker 8: and screaming at the thought. That sounds really graphic. I
- 2:20Speaker 8: just mean I'm really excited about it.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Do we need to hose you down at this point?
- 2:25Speaker 1: All these hot dudes with their shirts off.
- 2:26Speaker 8: I know.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Which I can't argue, because both of our Panther guys
- 2:33Speaker 1: are just super fucking ripped. It's ridiculous. So, I understand.
- 2:39Speaker 9: They are some good looking fellas.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:41Speaker 3: The Black Panther trailer played... immediately before the justice league
- 2:46Speaker 3: trailer so i had this.
- 2:47Speaker 11: Yeah oh yeah because i was i was excited when
- 2:54Speaker 11: the black panther trailer started yeah and then i was
- 2:57Speaker 11: let down when the justice league trailer got.
- 2:59Speaker 6: Going and jumping out a few weeks i have never
- 3:03Speaker 6: been to that later i have never been on such
- 3:06Speaker 6: an emotional roller coaster for a movie that's not even
- 3:09Speaker 6: out yet yeah i mean it's I'm going to go
- 3:13Speaker 6: see it.
- 3:13Speaker 3: You know.
- 3:15Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 3:15Speaker 8: Gotta do our duty.
- 3:16Speaker 9: I'm looking forward to it, yeah.
- 3:18Speaker 10: I'm really curious to see what the fallout of everything
- 3:21Speaker 10: with Whedon in there is going to be like. Is
- 3:24Speaker 10: it going to feel different? Is it going to be
- 3:26Speaker 10: bad or a good way? And just because it's going
- 3:28Speaker 10: to be kind of pieced together too, right?
- 3:29Speaker 1: Because he shot extra scenes.
- 3:30Speaker 10: Half an hour was changed.
- 3:32Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 3:32Speaker 10: Half an hour like was like, new footage. Like, I
- 3:35Speaker 10: know they tried to do that, oh, we're just doing
- 3:37Speaker 10: some touch-up stuff. Just the extra drop-in shots. It was
- 3:40Speaker 10: full-on new scripted stuff. So there is some massive swerve
- 3:45Speaker 10: in this movie.
- 3:45Speaker 1: That was right after Wonder Woman hit, too. So it's
- 3:48Speaker 1: probably just like, oh, let's.
- 3:50Speaker 10: Put a whole lot more Wonder Woman.
- 3:52Speaker 3: You bring up a good point, because I thought, okay,
- 3:54Speaker 3: with Wonder Woman, the bar's been set high again, so
- 3:57Speaker 3: they've got nowhere to go but up. And then I
- 4:00Speaker 3: watched that trailer, and I feel like DC and Warner
- 4:02Speaker 3: Brothers have just given up on Justice League. They know
- 4:08Speaker 3: that there's nothing they can do at this point.
- 4:10Speaker 1: But they're so far in.
- 4:12Speaker 3: And to back that up, in the theater lobby, there
- 4:15Speaker 3: was a huge cardboard cutout of Justice League that the
- 4:21Speaker 3: pictures of all the superheroes were so dark you could
- 4:24Speaker 3: barely see.
- 4:26Speaker 1: It's kind of like they're like, yeah, this movie's coming out.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Let's not get too detailed on this.
- 4:31Speaker 10: Just keep walking. They're keeping an embargo tight. I've heard
- 4:35Speaker 10: they don't want the reviews out early.
- 4:37Speaker 1: We saw it at the store.
- 4:40Speaker 10: They release that stuff the next day. Because for as
- 4:42Speaker 10: much shit as.
- 4:44Speaker 3: We've talked about it and everybody else has been talking
- 4:46Speaker 3: about it, you'd think if they had a good product
- 4:48Speaker 3: on their hands, they'd want to be like, hey.
- 4:50Speaker 9: Guys, check it out. It's going to be awesome.
- 4:52Speaker 1: I had this delusional moment earlier today. I guess it
- 4:56Speaker 1: was last week. And again, it's like internet. I think
- 4:59Speaker 1: it was Facebook. And there's always, again, it reads my
- 5:01Speaker 1: mind and my computer and knows the stuff that I'm
- 5:05Speaker 1: constantly looking up anyway. So I think it was running
- 5:07Speaker 1: some sort of photo of superheroes standing there. And like
- 5:12Speaker 1: there was a half second in my head when I
- 5:15Speaker 1: registered and wasn't really looking at it and was processing
- 5:17Speaker 1: it in my head. And it was a shot of
- 5:20Speaker 1: the gal version of Wonder Woman amongst the Avengers. And
- 5:24Speaker 1: I was just like, Then I looked and it was
- 5:28Speaker 1: Justice League. For a second, I'm like, how fucking awesome. No,
- 5:31Speaker 1: it's Justice League. Damn it. Think about the.
- 5:37Speaker 8: Yeah, they can't just make it Wonder Woman 2.
- 5:38Speaker 1: The Patty Jenkins version of Wonder Woman crammed in the
- 5:41Speaker 1: middle of the Joss version of the Avengers. Or even
- 5:45Speaker 1: Russo Brothers. That's their future.
- 5:47Speaker 10: I'm telling you, one day it can't... Money is just
- 5:49Speaker 10: too big. One day DC and Marvel will be on
- 5:52Speaker 10: the same ticket.
- 5:53Speaker 3: One day.
- 5:53Speaker 10: Like I said, back in the 90s they used to
- 5:55Speaker 10: play nice and do crossovers. I don't know why it's
- 5:58Speaker 10: so militant now. Because it would help everybody to put
- 6:01Speaker 10: these guys together.
- 6:03Speaker 8: They've been on the shit train for so long. It's
- 6:05Speaker 8: kind of like So if you get kind of like
- 6:07Speaker 8: your grade point average, you get Fs on every test,
- 6:10Speaker 8: then you get a fucking A with Wonder Woman, but
- 6:12Speaker 8: that's not going to bring your grade point average up enough.
- 6:15Speaker 1: It's like now you got a D +. Congratulations.
- 6:17Speaker 3: My fear is that Justice League is going to be
- 6:22Speaker 3: so bad, and there's going to be so much negative
- 6:24Speaker 3: press over it, that Warner Brothers is going to blame
- 6:33Speaker 3: it somehow on Wonder Woman. And cancel any future Wonder Woman.
- 6:38Speaker 9: Movies we might get.
- 6:40Speaker 10: I think they gave up. From what I'm reading, it
- 6:42Speaker 10: sounds like they're pretty much like, you know, these movies
- 6:47Speaker 10: having anything to do with any of the other ones,
- 6:50Speaker 10: fuck it. From what I'm understanding, now they're just like, we're.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Just going to do Batman movies, plural.
- 6:56Speaker 10: We're going to do Green Lantern movies, Superman movies, plural,
- 6:59Speaker 10: and they don't have to do shit with each other.
- 7:01Speaker 10: That's why we got like three Batman movies.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Which maybe is a better idea.
- 7:05Speaker 10: Joker origin, a black and white noir one, and they're
- 7:09Speaker 10: still talking about doing something else with Ben Affleck. That'll
- 7:11Speaker 10: be three Batman movies that have nothing to do with
- 7:14Speaker 10: each other.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Which, again, we brought this up, and it's funny, we
- 7:18Speaker 1: didn't address it on the show, but that same thing
- 7:20Speaker 1: is they're so desperate. Any of these studios or producers
- 7:25Speaker 1: or whoever is behind all of these projects is so
- 7:27Speaker 1: desperate to fling themselves at the idea of, of like
- 7:31Speaker 1: what the Marvel universe is doing, but not going about it.
- 7:33Speaker 4: Right.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Because we talked about the dark universe already dying. I'm
- 7:37Speaker 1: like one movie in essentially officially with the logo one movie.
- 7:42Speaker 1: And then I went, no, it didn't work. Like really?
- 7:44Speaker 1: Like you couldn't plan a little better and put a
- 7:46Speaker 1: little extra work into it so that It wasn't just
- 7:49Speaker 1: let's slap this together. So it was kind of that
- 7:53Speaker 1: same thing with DC. They were just so desperate to
- 7:56Speaker 1: be like, this is what they're doing over there. Let's
- 7:58Speaker 1: do it over here too.
- 7:59Speaker 8: There's some guy smacking about deadlines.
- 8:01Speaker 3: On his desk.
- 8:02Speaker 10: They focus on the weirdest things sometimes. Sometimes you really
- 8:07Speaker 10: can see how CEOs and stuff are so out of touch.
- 8:10Speaker 10: Because I remember when the Battleships movie came out. collapsed
- 8:15Speaker 10: the ceo literally there was like a ceo that was
- 8:18Speaker 10: quoted like saying something like i don't get it hasbro
- 8:21Speaker 10: is so big like he literally said that he thought
- 8:24Speaker 10: that it was it wasn't transformers it.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Was shut down the chutes and ladders movie hold on.
- 8:29Speaker 10: They were gonna make one oh i know i remember
- 8:33Speaker 10: i remember we made fun of that because they thought
- 8:35Speaker 10: it was hasbro and it's like what is in your
- 8:37Speaker 10: head it's it's.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Just name recognition that's all they want they don't care
- 8:44Speaker 1: about story and this is why it's coming to eventually
- 8:47Speaker 1: dawn on them I hope because you see it time
- 8:50Speaker 1: after time you don't put any work on the screenplay
- 8:53Speaker 1: you don't put any work in on the grand plan
- 8:56Speaker 1: of what you're doing sometimes not even on directing or
- 8:59Speaker 1: acting it's just name recognition dumb as audiences are sometimes
- 9:05Speaker 1: in our country in the world Like, it doesn't always pan.
- 9:09Speaker 1: I can't explain the Transformers thing because they're proving us
- 9:13Speaker 1: wrong every time. And I'm just like, they're stupid. We
- 9:17Speaker 1: all know they're stupid. Movie geeks make fun of how stupid.
- 9:19Speaker 10: I put the Resident Evil movies right there with it
- 9:20Speaker 10: where it's like, these are the worst movies ever, but
- 9:22Speaker 10: they keep making more and more movies with each one.
- 9:26Speaker 1: So like that, again, that's the one I'm referencing how
- 9:29Speaker 1: dumb audiences can be. I'm like, we're fueling that nonsense.
- 9:33Speaker 8: I don't know. I think that Transformers' success is in
- 9:36Speaker 8: part due to branding. And they've sold the Transformers brand
- 9:41Speaker 8: not just as a movie, but as a fashion choice.
- 9:45Speaker 8: Kind of like how people get monster tattoos. Kind of
- 9:48Speaker 8: like that. People get Transformers tattoos.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Who are these people?
- 9:51Speaker 8: They're a subset of the population. I would say that
- 9:56Speaker 8: they are mostly like white, lower middle class. It doesn't matter.
- 10:00Speaker 12: Rednecks.
- 10:01Speaker 8: But I'm not going to pass any moral judgment on
- 10:04Speaker 8: these people. They just like what they like.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Y'all see that truck turn into a robot?
- 10:07Speaker 12: That's awesome.
- 10:08Speaker 8: But it's not because of the movies. It's because of
- 10:11Speaker 8: everything else.
- 10:11Speaker 14: That they've done.
- 10:12Speaker 3: But you just brought up a good point with that concept.
- 10:16Speaker 1: How wrong can you go?
- 10:17Speaker 3: Robots that turn into things and then cause havoc for
- 10:20Speaker 3: two hours. Specifically. Specifically.
- 10:22Speaker 1: But you've got planes and jukeboxes or whatever. We are
- 10:25Speaker 1: the dumb kids that latched onto that the first time.
- 10:28Speaker 1: I was just, that was the coolest thing ever. So like,
- 10:30Speaker 1: it's not hard to make that awesome. It already is
- 10:33Speaker 1: as a concept.
- 10:34Speaker 3: All you have to do is put.
- 10:35Speaker 1: A little work into it. Just a little screenplay.
- 10:38Speaker 3: I spent three hours nonstop at work the other day
- 10:40Speaker 3: singing the Transformers theme song.
- 10:44Speaker 1: After all your co-workers killed themselves.
- 10:47Speaker 3: But how can you mess up that concept? And then
- 10:51Speaker 3: go on to make 30.
- 10:52Speaker 9: Movies or whatever it is.
- 10:53Speaker 1: I also think, and this is one that I think
- 10:57Speaker 1: people overlook, or especially movie geeks who just like to
- 10:59Speaker 1: bitch about the fact that, oh, the story's stupid. But
- 11:02Speaker 1: here's how they always make money. national sales. Sure. When
- 11:06Speaker 1: you get to a point where you're making movies that
- 11:08Speaker 1: are so big and kind of, no offense, so dumb,
- 11:12Speaker 1: they don't need to be translated to any other language.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Explosions work around the world. Like you don't have to
- 11:18Speaker 1: worry about, well, does this character study really work for
- 11:22Speaker 1: what we're, no, it's just like you see big, dumb
- 11:25Speaker 1: CG visuals, you see explosions. It works in any language
- 11:29Speaker 1: it were. And like, overseas money makes, you know, again,
- 11:32Speaker 1: you factor in all of the other countries, but it
- 11:35Speaker 1: always dwarfs what the dumb American audiences are, so, especially
- 11:40Speaker 1: on big dumb action movies, so I'm like, I think
- 11:42Speaker 1: that's it, too, like, I think we're, we're leaving that
- 11:45Speaker 1: part of it out, that, like, we still want a
- 11:47Speaker 1: good script and good character development, but, That doesn't have
- 11:52Speaker 1: to factor in when we're talking about just stuff you're
- 11:54Speaker 1: trying to sell the world. And again, it's really hard
- 11:58Speaker 1: when you have a really wordy, you know, complicated plot
- 12:01Speaker 1: to then translate to other cultures and other languages where
- 12:05Speaker 1: if it's really dumb, it's really easy to translate to anybody, anywhere.
- 12:09Speaker 1: So I think we, again, I think movie geeks kind
- 12:12Speaker 1: of forget that too.
- 12:13Speaker 10: I think that's the money at the end of this rainbow.
- 12:17Speaker 10: I think it should have been a Pixar CGI kind
- 12:19Speaker 10: of thing.
- 12:20Speaker 3: But then, with everything you just said, you come back
- 12:23Speaker 3: to the movies that we're talking about now, the Marvel movies.
- 12:27Speaker 3: They figured out how to make it work. You still
- 12:29Speaker 3: get a big, fun movie.
- 12:31Speaker 1: They have a huge overseas box office. And it's a.
- 12:36Speaker 3: Movie that you're entertained from start to finish with.
- 12:39Speaker 9: And sure, there's maybe no.
- 12:42Speaker 3: No great importance there other than it's just.
- 12:45Speaker 1: Like, sometimes I feel like there's a little, there's a little, yeah.
- 12:48Speaker 1: But again, I think it's just people putting work into
- 12:53Speaker 1: it versus not, you know, it's just like, if, if
- 12:56Speaker 1: you have a good concept and you're actually willing to
- 12:59Speaker 1: put some work into it, but I feel like it's not,
- 13:03Speaker 1: that's not what's going on with a lot of the
- 13:05Speaker 1: big dumb action.
- 13:06Speaker 10: So would you hear that? Uh, I just saw this
- 13:09Speaker 10: today and I didn't even really get the reader read it,
- 13:12Speaker 10: It was just, I don't think it was clickbait. Apparently
- 13:15Speaker 10: Disney is bidding on Fox.
- 13:16Speaker 4: Yes.
- 13:17Speaker 10: So that's official. We might get the X-Men and Fantastic
- 13:20Speaker 10: Four back then. Yes. If that goes through, there's your next.
- 13:25Speaker 10: What did I say before? Your next huge wave is X-Men.
- 13:28Speaker 10: You do exactly what you did with the Avengers, but
- 13:30Speaker 10: with X-Men, there's your next 20 years, period.
- 13:33Speaker 1: What I've said many times in recent years, like, always
- 13:38Speaker 1: kind of bank on Disney. They've got the pocketbook to
- 13:42Speaker 1: back everything up. And they have, again, in recent years,
- 13:46Speaker 1: they've gotten pretty smart about letting people figure out how
- 13:49Speaker 1: to do what works for this little section of things
- 13:53Speaker 1: that we own. Pixar knows how to run itself. Leave
- 13:55Speaker 1: them alone. Star Wars knows how to run itself. Leave
- 13:57Speaker 1: them alone.
- 13:58Speaker 3: You can talk shit about Disney for days, but at
- 14:03Speaker 3: the end of the day, they do have a standard
- 14:06Speaker 3: for releasing.
- 14:07Speaker 9: quality product.
- 14:08Speaker 1: They kind of always did there was that lull in
- 14:10Speaker 1: the middle of their own animated which again they changed
- 14:13Speaker 1: ceos several times during that run but when they were
- 14:16Speaker 1: making like bad straight to vhs sequels to their classics
- 14:20Speaker 1: like that was the low point for them but once
- 14:22Speaker 1: they came back from that and they started acquiring products
- 14:26Speaker 1: starting with like the muppets like that was kind of
- 14:28Speaker 1: the first property they bought that was like No, that's
- 14:31Speaker 1: a good idea. Like, Jim Hintze knew what he was doing.
- 14:33Speaker 3: Yeah, but we could talk for a long time about
- 14:36Speaker 3: that lull that even the Muppets had.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Yeah, but again, that was part of his, like, Jim's
- 14:42Speaker 1: plan was like, I know I want to leave it
- 14:45Speaker 1: to somebody who's going to take care of my creation
- 14:47Speaker 1: in Disney. Like, always kind of... Even when they're at
- 14:50Speaker 1: their desperate point, they still kind of have a level
- 14:54Speaker 1: of above and beyond your straight-to-video crap or many things
- 14:59Speaker 1: that make it to theaters now for kids.
- 15:01Speaker 3: And everyone was so negative when they took over Star Wars,
- 15:03Speaker 3: but look at the two movies.
- 15:05Speaker 9: That have come out so far.
- 15:06Speaker 1: Yeah, they know what they're doing. Yeah.
- 15:09Speaker 3: So, yes, Disney, please buy Fox.
- 15:12Speaker 10: Yeah, I flip-flopped when they got Marvel. I think it
- 15:14Speaker 10: was after the first couple Marvel movies under Disney.
- 15:17Speaker 9: I was like, oh.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Okay, cool.
- 15:20Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 15:20Speaker 10: Like, you trust your artist? Like, I'm completely on board.
- 15:23Speaker 10: You completely let them do what they want to do.
- 15:26Speaker 10: It didn't seem like it was.
- 15:28Speaker 1: They still have their thumb in that pie pretty heavily. Sure.
- 15:32Speaker 1: But again, they're also not stupid. Like, they don't want
- 15:35Speaker 1: it spiraling out of control.
- 15:37Speaker 3: They know how to take characters that have already been
- 15:39Speaker 3: established and keep that... Because that's what they've been doing
- 15:42Speaker 3: for a hundred years now, almost.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:45Speaker 3: You know, they know how to keep that going and
- 15:47Speaker 3: keep people happy, so.
- 15:49Speaker 14: Again, eventually they will own everything, I'm pretty sure.
- 15:53Speaker 8: I'm just hoping that DC and Marvel will come together
- 15:58Speaker 8: before they start trying, if they ever do start trying
- 16:01Speaker 8: to tackle more like Vertigo.
- 16:02Speaker 9: Oh my God.
- 16:03Speaker 10: I'm like, please don't ruin those.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Don't even be talking.
- 16:06Speaker 10: About Sandman because every five years there's rumors and whispers,
- 16:12Speaker 10: and especially with American Gods, and now they're doing Good Omens.
- 16:18Speaker 10: so it's that's another neil gaiman thing so it's like
- 16:20Speaker 10: and you just keep hearing those whispers that sandman's coming
- 16:23Speaker 10: i'm like you are going to make me cut myself
- 16:25Speaker 10: like you have.
- 16:27Speaker 1: To handle that one everyone who reads that would be
- 16:30Speaker 1: utmost delicacy or i will kill people like that.
- 16:34Speaker 10: Is above all stories seriously above all stories sandman is
- 16:39Speaker 10: like so dear to me so like That kind of
- 16:42Speaker 10: scares me.
- 16:42Speaker 1: There's times when it's just like.
- 16:44Speaker 10: I'd love to see a lot of vertical stuff, but
- 16:45Speaker 10: I'll be so critical.
- 16:47Speaker 8: If they do drop those. That's what I've been waiting
- 16:48Speaker 8: for for a long time is for more of that
- 16:51Speaker 8: slightly more avant-garde.
- 16:54Speaker 1: Well, a solid Constantine.
- 16:55Speaker 10: A solid Constantine would have been great.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Hellblazer. It's coming back.
- 17:00Speaker 10: Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Maybe we do it right
- 17:03Speaker 10: going forward. That's a great doorway into the vertical world.
- 17:07Speaker 10: That would be an awesome introduction character for that. I
- 17:11Speaker 10: did not mind the Constantine movie.
- 17:13Speaker 1: It's one of those everybody, I just was listening to
- 17:15Speaker 1: somebody talk about that.
- 17:16Speaker 10: I love so many characters in it. The devil in
- 17:19Speaker 10: it was so incredible.
- 17:22Speaker 9: You put that guy in security camera footage.
- 17:24Speaker 10: Oh, man.
- 17:25Speaker 1: You got something worth watching.
- 17:27Speaker 10: There's so much great stuff in there.
- 17:29Speaker 1: They were categorizing it as a good movie that's a
- 17:32Speaker 1: bad transfer.
- 17:34Speaker 12: Yes.
- 17:34Speaker 1: And they were like, that's like its own subsection now
- 17:37Speaker 1: of like, They aren't a good representation of their property,
- 17:42Speaker 1: but they somehow come out being their own thing.
- 17:45Speaker 8: What year was that? Oh, man.
- 17:47Speaker 9: 90s, right?
- 17:47Speaker 8: Because it was very stylized in the back. I think
- 17:51Speaker 8: it was early 2000s.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Yeah, because I think it was post-Matrix.
- 17:54Speaker 10: Yeah, it was post-Matrix.
- 17:56Speaker 9: I think so, too.
- 17:57Speaker 3: Plus, there's a lot of stuff going on in that
- 18:00Speaker 3: story that you can't really cram into.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Again, that's one of those that's hard to do a movie. Like,
- 18:04Speaker 1: maybe a trilogy or make it a series now.
- 18:07Speaker 10: Or if you do it a TV show, how about
- 18:08Speaker 10: you don't try to take something that should be not
- 18:10Speaker 10: rated and make it PG?
- 18:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Because I thought.
- 18:12Speaker 10: That guy was great as Constantine if he would have
- 18:15Speaker 10: been chain smoking, but you can't even let him smoke?
- 18:17Speaker 10: You want to do Hellblazer, but you don't want to
- 18:20Speaker 10: have cigarettes?
- 18:21Speaker 1: Smoking is uncool, man. What are you doing?
- 18:23Speaker 10: You have no chance then. Demon possession, but don't let
- 18:26Speaker 10: him smoke.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Okay that's fine with me between the two i'll take demon.
- 18:30Speaker 10: Position i guess we can't have any projectile vomit either
- 18:33Speaker 10: spinning heads.
- 18:35Speaker 1: Well yes but it has to be like you know
- 18:37Speaker 1: organic pea soup gluten-free gluten-free artisan pea soup.
- 18:46Speaker 10: Free range range free range peas no that'd be exciting
- 18:50Speaker 10: if they they picked up fox um As a comic
- 18:53Speaker 10: geek anyway, because he had to see X-Men come back
- 18:55Speaker 10: and to see... I don't even care at this point
- 18:57Speaker 10: about Fantastic Four, but they have Doom back just in time.
- 19:00Speaker 8: I care about Fantastic Four. I care about them having.
- 19:03Speaker 10: I just had my heart broken so many times.
- 19:05Speaker 8: I just want to see a good Silver Surfer. That's
- 19:08Speaker 8: all I want.
- 19:08Speaker 1: We had a good Silver Surfer. We just didn't have
- 19:10Speaker 1: a good movie maybe that went around. I barely remember
- 19:14Speaker 1: the movie, but... You know, Doug's an awesome zombie.
- 19:18Speaker 3: I would like to see a Fantastic Four movie with
- 19:21Speaker 3: a thing that doesn't look like a big pile of crap.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Hey, hey, hey, Roger Corman is a great... Yeah, again,
- 19:29Speaker 1: recently they were like, the Roger Corman Fantastic Four. Not
- 19:32Speaker 1: the worst Fantastic Four movie.
- 19:33Speaker 12: Seriously.
- 19:34Speaker 1: Think about that.
- 19:35Speaker 3: And if you look at that, I don't want to
- 19:38Speaker 3: call it a film, but if you look at that.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Hey, he made classics.
- 19:44Speaker 3: True, but if you look at all four of the characters,
- 19:48Speaker 3: the thing is the only... least ridiculous looking one out
- 19:53Speaker 3: of the four of them.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Oh, flame on.
- 19:59Speaker 10: It had to be a matter of time when you
- 20:00Speaker 10: think about it. Not that Fox is all X-Men and
- 20:03Speaker 10: Fantastic Four, but the Marvel comics have been shutting it
- 20:08Speaker 10: down for 20 years now. They've literally killed off or
- 20:12Speaker 10: exiled every Fantastic Four and X-Men character pretty much. All
- 20:16Speaker 10: your classic X-Men people are dead now. Fantastic Four don't
- 20:18Speaker 10: even have their own comic. Marvel's been sitting on this
- 20:21Speaker 10: forever like, give us these rights back. They don't even
- 20:24Speaker 10: exist anymore. We haven't even been drawing these guys anymore.
- 20:27Speaker 10: You still hold on so tight to the movies.
- 20:29Speaker 1: They're so weird with Fantastic Four because I feel like
- 20:32Speaker 1: it didn't even ever cross over into the pop culture.
- 20:36Speaker 1: At least X-Men did. It hit. It was huge. But
- 20:40Speaker 1: most normal people would be lucky to even ID the
- 20:44Speaker 1: four people in Fantastic Four. Even if they've seen the movies,
- 20:47Speaker 1: I bet they'd get halfway in and go, um, is
- 20:50Speaker 1: there a robot? you know they just like it's just
- 20:53Speaker 1: it never really clicked with normal people so like the
- 20:56Speaker 1: fact that they're still like so protective of that I
- 20:59Speaker 1: don't understand why you'd think they just want to sell
- 21:02Speaker 1: it to somebody who could make it work but again
- 21:05Speaker 1: it may just be money for them which is not
- 21:07Speaker 1: what comic fans want but man if.
- 21:09Speaker 8: You could get like Galactus and the Avengers like that would.
- 21:13Speaker 10: Be yeah like Definitely, like, use, well, I guess they're
- 21:19Speaker 10: kind of doing it on TV, but you use Fantastic
- 21:21Speaker 10: Four to introduce the Kree and to introduce, like, Galactus
- 21:25Speaker 10: and these big sentient people and have Silver Surfer. There's
- 21:27Speaker 10: so much. Basically, what Guardians of the Galaxy is doing
- 21:30Speaker 10: is what Fantastic Four should have been doing.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:32Speaker 10: Should have ran into the Guardians while doing that stuff.
- 21:34Speaker 3: Even this movie, with Thor, there were a couple of
- 21:38Speaker 3: pretty obscure characters that they i.
- 21:41Speaker 10: Love that beta ray bill was on the tower that
- 21:43Speaker 10: makes me so happy that beta ray bill was on
- 21:46Speaker 10: the tower already once today from someone so obviously that's
- 21:49Speaker 10: not a deep cut but that's a geek cut like
- 21:52Speaker 10: people have a love hate with beta ray and i
- 21:54Speaker 10: thought beta ray bill was pretty cool so i thought
- 21:56Speaker 10: that was pretty awesome that they put him on the
- 21:57Speaker 10: building like he had fought there and stuff so i
- 22:00Speaker 10: would be excited if he took the hammer later i
- 22:03Speaker 10: heard there's rumors that In the next phase, they might
- 22:07Speaker 10: do some gender swapping, since that's what's been happening.
- 22:09Speaker 1: In the comics a lot. Yeah, the comics.
- 22:11Speaker 10: They're switching Thor over to a female Thor.
- 22:13Speaker 1: That's kind of what I wondered what they're going for.
- 22:16Speaker 3: Well, I wondered about that with Logan, because there was
- 22:20Speaker 3: the girl who has the.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Wolverine powers, and there's a female Wolverine. She is confirmed
- 22:25Speaker 1: to get a movie. They are doing.
- 22:26Speaker 10: I don't think they've confirmed to actress yet, but I
- 22:28Speaker 10: think they've confirmed that Laura's character is getting a movie
- 22:31Speaker 10: directly connected to Logan.
- 22:33Speaker 4: Hmm.
- 22:33Speaker 10: But I don't think they've confirmed that that little girl's
- 22:35Speaker 10: playing her. So we don't know if she'll be older
- 22:37Speaker 10: or not.
- 22:38Speaker 3: There's any number of directions you could.
- 22:40Speaker 10: Go with that.
- 22:40Speaker 1: That's kind of what I'm like. It is from that
- 22:42Speaker 1: cinematic version of it or the comic version. Because that's
- 22:45Speaker 1: what I said. I think it's the cinematic. But I
- 22:47Speaker 1: think they're still doing some new mutant stuff.
- 22:49Speaker 10: With it, right?
- 22:50Speaker 1: At the end, we kind of don't know where it's going.
- 22:52Speaker 1: So you really could take that story and run with
- 22:54Speaker 1: it in a weird sort of post-apocalyptic, but not really.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Just normal modern day society. like, world that now doesn't
- 23:03Speaker 1: have the old mutants, but this is some new breed
- 23:05Speaker 1: of mutant. So you can kind of run with that story.
- 23:07Speaker 3: It's going to get confusing.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Yeah, well.
- 23:09Speaker 10: For the average person.
- 23:10Speaker 9: It all is already.
- 23:11Speaker 1: It's already massively. Although that new show isn't bad. What
- 23:16Speaker 1: I've been watching of it.
- 23:17Speaker 10: I watched the first episode.
- 23:19Speaker 1: Or the one of the two. I guess. First one in.
- 23:21Speaker 10: Minutes is also on.
- 23:22Speaker 1: I have not seen any of that. But the Gifted,
- 23:24Speaker 1: I've actually seen several episodes and, like, kind of liked
- 23:28Speaker 1: it i again it's getting massively confusing but i try
- 23:31Speaker 1: to just put all of that out of my head
- 23:33Speaker 1: and be like let's just focus on these characters is
- 23:36Speaker 1: that the one legion isn't canon but apparently gifted is
- 23:40Speaker 1: canon gifted is going to be canon to to the
- 23:42Speaker 1: next x-men movie but it still doesn't even make like
- 23:45Speaker 1: again i've watched a.
- 23:51Speaker 10: Do you remember the 4400? Did you watch that show?
- 23:54Speaker 1: No, I remember it being on.
- 23:57Speaker 10: The 4400 did what the beginning of X-Men should have done.
- 24:02Speaker 10: Because it's not like you have superheroes out the gate.
- 24:06Speaker 10: You have this air of the powers showing up in
- 24:09Speaker 10: people and How does the world and the government deal
- 24:11Speaker 10: with that? That's a huge question. In an X-Men comic,
- 24:14Speaker 10: those are usually the biggest. Yes, every now and then, Magneto,
- 24:16Speaker 10: where someone comes along. But most of X-Men is the
- 24:20Speaker 10: government wants to do this, or United Nations wants to
- 24:22Speaker 10: do this, or this city is doing this, or the
- 24:24Speaker 10: people are doing this. It's the person on person. And
- 24:27Speaker 10: I feel like Gifted wants to do that, but it's...
- 24:30Speaker 10: It's still not relatable enough. It doesn't feel small town
- 24:33Speaker 10: enough still to me. It still feels too kind of big.
- 24:35Speaker 10: It should be kids getting bullied. He does get bullied
- 24:38Speaker 10: at school, but ridiculous ways.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Not over the top.
- 24:41Speaker 10: Killing him in a locker room. They practically killed a kid.
- 24:46Speaker 1: We're not saying murder. That's kind of how bullying goes
- 24:49Speaker 1: at this point. It's been dialed up to 11 like
- 24:51Speaker 1: everything else. Again, it almost immediately left that from what
- 24:56Speaker 1: little of them I've seen. They're already in a much bigger...
- 25:00Speaker 1: thing with the government chasing them and they're like all
- 25:02Speaker 1: these mutants are now involved so it's yeah it's already
- 25:05Speaker 1: escalated well beyond the high school small town thing so
- 25:10Speaker 1: it's a shame It's still got potential.
- 25:13Speaker 10: The early X-Men. I would have liked to have seen
- 25:15Speaker 10: a whole emphasis on just the Sentinels. Not even a
- 25:18Speaker 10: bad guy. It was like, here's a government, and we
- 25:20Speaker 10: have Sentinels. Not something that happens at the end in
- 25:22Speaker 10: a stadium, but that's the story. We've got to be
- 25:25Speaker 10: strong enough to beat these big, purple, Godzilla-sized things. That
- 25:29Speaker 10: could be a whole movie in itself. They kind of
- 25:33Speaker 10: take those kind of things that were, to me, so
- 25:35Speaker 10: exciting in the comic and make them just throwaways.
- 25:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:39Speaker 10: You know, to cement a plot or something. I don't know.
- 25:43Speaker 10: I think if Marvel gets it, though, you can definitely
- 25:45Speaker 10: plan on 10, 15, 20 years of a slow trip
- 25:49Speaker 10: with X-Men the same way they did with Avengers.
- 25:51Speaker 1: I mean, they've been doing it anyway. So, like, if, yeah,
- 25:54Speaker 1: if they have some new way to revitalize it or
- 25:58Speaker 1: just pump a bunch of new money into it, I'm
- 26:00Speaker 1: sure they will.
- 26:01Speaker 10: Can you imagine recasting all those guys again?
- 26:04Speaker 14: We just did all that.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Oh, I don't know. All right.
- 26:11Speaker 14: I think we should take our break and come back
- 26:14Speaker 14: with this week's super movie.
- 26:39Speaker 7: All the life she has seen, oh the meanest side
- 26:44Speaker 7: of me.

- 26:49Speaker 1: On the street. Now she's stronger than you know, her heart.
- 26:54Speaker 8: Of steel starts to grow.
- 26:57Speaker 1: All his life he's been told, he'll be nothing when
- 27:01Speaker 1: he's old.
- 27:02Speaker 8: All the kicks and all the.
- 27:04Speaker 7: Blows, he won't ever let it show.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Because he's stronger than you know. A heart of steel
- 27:12Speaker 1: starts to grow. When you've been.

- 29:42Speaker 1: I know. And yet we're trying to put this show together.
- 29:45Speaker 1: Now how the hell can we keep the show rolling
- 29:49Speaker 1: if we're broke and we.
- 29:49Speaker 3: Can't do this?
- 29:51Speaker 8: Sell special fiddle foul.
- 29:55Speaker 1: Oh. Or instead, murder people. Are you just taking random
- 30:00Speaker 1: money out of their pockets?
- 30:01Speaker 3: Well, yeah. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
- 30:03Speaker 1: Hopefully it won't come to that. Especially if they're peeping.
- 30:06Speaker 1: Some people will get on board with this.
- 30:09Speaker 8: Get on board with what?
- 30:11Speaker 1: The new Movie Meltdown Patreon page. And what is this?
- 30:14Speaker 1: If you go there, you can sponsor the show itself. Basically,
- 30:19Speaker 1: you just join the club. You join the Meltdown Club.
- 30:21Speaker 1: You become a milketeer.
- 30:22Speaker 8: Do you get a special decoder ring?
- 30:24Speaker 1: We already sent those out, but those people, nobody cares.
- 30:27Speaker 14: I didn't get a decoder ring.
- 30:28Speaker 1: You're not part of the club.
- 30:29Speaker 14: I'm never part of the club.
- 30:32Speaker 1: You're part of the secret circle, though. It's okay. But
- 30:35Speaker 1: if you become a milketeer, you can get special episodes
- 30:38Speaker 1: that only come to you.
- 30:41Speaker 14: I think you should do it right now.
- 30:42Speaker 5: Right now?
- 30:42Speaker 14: I'm just saying.
- 30:43Speaker 1: It's maybe a couple of bucks. There's other levels you
- 30:47Speaker 1: can kick in and get fancier. Maybe a couple bucks.
- 30:49Speaker 1: You don't know. Fancier stuff. But really, just a couple
- 30:52Speaker 1: of bucks will keep things rolling. What'll get me a pony?
- 30:56Speaker 1: That's a really high level. I'll have to figure out
- 31:00Speaker 1: exactly what. That's platinum membership right there. It might be
- 31:03Speaker 1: above platinum. We'll have to see. What is above platinum?
- 31:08Speaker 14: Titanium.
- 31:09Speaker 12: Titanium.
- 31:10Speaker 15: Really?
- 31:12Speaker 1: Maybe that's a step below. I don't know.
- 31:13Speaker 14: We'll have to see.
- 31:14Speaker 1: Aluminium level. That's way below. Not if you say it fancy.
- 31:19Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 31:20Speaker 12: Unobtainium.
- 31:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 31:24Speaker 5: Good luck with that.
- 31:25Speaker 1: But for the rest of you, go kick in a
- 31:27Speaker 1: couple bucks. Keep the show rolling. Go to patreon.com slash
- 31:30Speaker 1: movie meltdown. And if you don't know how to type
- 31:33Speaker 1: all that in, go to the movie meltdown.com page. And
- 31:36Speaker 1: the link's right there. And you can save this show.
- 31:39Speaker 1: And help me get a pony. Damn them, man. Save
- 31:42Speaker 1: the meltdown.
- 31:44Speaker 12: Get Misty a pony.
- 31:45Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 31:46Speaker 1: Priorities.
- 32:08Speaker 5: Hey, this is Doug Jones from the Hellboy movies and
- 32:11Speaker 5: the Silver Surfer and Pan's Labyrinth and Hocus Pocus, Falling
- 32:14Speaker 5: Skies and so much more. But today you are listening
- 32:18Speaker 5: to Movie Meltdown.
- 32:21Speaker 2: Get more out of life.
- 32:32Speaker 12: Go out to a movie.
- 32:48Speaker 10: So much has happened since I last saw you.
- 32:50Speaker 5: I lost my hammer, like yesterday, so that's still pretty fresh.
- 32:57Speaker 10: And then I went on a journey of self-discovery.
- 33:03Speaker 4: Where I met you.
- 33:15Speaker 12: Where are we? You have no idea. Hello, the goddess
- 33:21Speaker 12: of death has invaded Asgard.
- 33:23Speaker 10: Oh, I've missed this.
- 33:27Speaker 12: And you and I had a fight recently.
- 33:29Speaker 7: Did I win?
- 33:33Speaker 12: No, I won easily.
- 33:34Speaker 10: Doesn't sound right.
- 33:36Speaker 1: Well, it's true.
- 33:40Speaker 7: Asgard is dead.
- 33:44Speaker 4: And it will be reborn in my image. I thought
- 33:47Speaker 4: you'd be glad to see me.
- 33:49Speaker 12: We need to stop her here and now.
- 33:52Speaker 1: To prevent Ragnarok, the end of everything. So they're putting
- 33:57Speaker 1: together a team.
- 34:00Speaker 12: Like the old days.
- 34:05Speaker 4: Surprise!
- 34:07Speaker 1: This will be such fun.
- 34:09Speaker 2: Hello! He's a fighter. Here we go!
- 34:28Speaker 13: I'm not a queen or a monster.
- 34:32Speaker 4: I'm the goddess of death.
- 34:37Speaker 8: What were you the god of again?
- 34:51Speaker 1: We're the same, you and I.
- 34:52Speaker 12: Just a couple of hot-headed fools.
- 34:53Speaker 9: Yeah, same. Hulk like fire, Thor like water.
- 34:57Speaker 10: Well, we're kind of both like fire.
- 35:00Speaker 1: But Hulk like raging fire, Thor like smoldering fire. I mean,
- 35:28Speaker 1: I kind of, well, no, there's times when I have
- 35:31Speaker 1: taken it, but this time I was like, I don't know.
- 35:34Speaker 1: I was just kind of on board and watching it.
- 35:36Speaker 1: And like, I went to like write stuff down afterwards
- 35:38Speaker 1: and I was like, It wasn't until today I started
- 35:42Speaker 1: getting this stuff ready. I'm like, okay, there's at least
- 35:44Speaker 1: a few things I want to hit, but I don't know.
- 35:46Speaker 1: If the pacing of.
- 35:47Speaker 8: The movie were different, maybe I would have, but generally
- 35:50Speaker 8: I don't. I won't even take out my phone for
- 35:55Speaker 8: like a second.
- 35:56Speaker 1: Definitely not. That's why if you're a paper and pen nerd,
- 36:00Speaker 1: you know.
- 36:01Speaker 10: I completely power my phone off now. Even if it
- 36:05Speaker 10: causes a vibration sound in the theater, I feel like
- 36:08Speaker 10: an asshole.
- 36:10Speaker 13: Shut up.
- 36:11Speaker 8: I feel like an asshole because I... My movie snack
- 36:14Speaker 8: is nachos.
- 36:16Speaker 10: And I hate... Just like crunching the whole time.
- 36:20Speaker 1: That's when we need that special sound poof poof.
- 36:23Speaker 3: The problem though with the nachos is... I get the
- 36:26Speaker 3: nachos and I'm like, okay, wait for the trailers to
- 36:28Speaker 3: be through.
- 36:29Speaker 1: I'm going to eat one.
- 36:31Speaker 9: Oh, I have never.
- 36:32Speaker 3: I'll eat another one.
- 36:33Speaker 1: I never.
- 36:34Speaker 3: And they're not even done with like the previews.
- 36:36Speaker 1: I feel like you still have free reign during the trailers.
- 36:38Speaker 1: I never make it through the previews.
- 36:39Speaker 8: Before finishing my nachos.
- 36:40Speaker 1: Previews, yeah, you can make a little more noise. All right,
- 36:48Speaker 1: we are back. And this week we have gone out
- 36:50Speaker 1: on the town as.
- 36:51Speaker 14: We seem to do with many of these superhero movies.
- 36:54Speaker 1: So this week's out of the town feature is Thor
- 36:57Speaker 1: colon Ragnarok. The year is 2017. Is it?
- 37:01Speaker 10: Because apparently it's 1980.
- 37:03Speaker 9: Wait, do I?
- 37:05Speaker 1: I'll get into that later.
- 37:06Speaker 10: It's just the movie is so 80s that I was
- 37:08Speaker 10: just like.
- 37:08Speaker 1: A little bit.
- 37:09Speaker 10: Is this the future or is it the 80s?
- 37:11Speaker 1: A little bit.
- 37:12Speaker 9: A little bit.
- 37:13Speaker 1: And the director, I went out of my way to
- 37:17Speaker 1: get it right.
- 37:17Speaker 14: Watiti.
- 37:20Speaker 1: Taika Waititi.
- 37:21Speaker 3: Titi.
- 37:24Speaker 1: I was working on Taika.
- 37:25Speaker 10: He said Taika.
- 37:27Speaker 9: I'll be mature now.
- 37:28Speaker 10: I doubt it.
- 37:30Speaker 1: The plot, according to IMDb, and it's, this one's actually, like,
- 37:35Speaker 1: sometimes it's just badly worded and wrong. This one, somebody's
- 37:38Speaker 1: trying really hard. Imprisoned, the almighty Thor finds himself in
- 37:46Speaker 1: a lethal gladiatorial contest against the Hulk His former ally.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Thor must fight for survival and race against time to
- 38:00Speaker 1: prevent the all-powerful Hela from destroying his home and the
- 38:05Speaker 1: Asgardian civilization. somebody put a lot of time maybe a
- 38:12Speaker 1: little too much into that.
- 38:13Speaker 3: I feel like that's true but there's so much it's
- 38:16Speaker 3: just more than the word and yet there's.
- 38:19Speaker 1: Nine million other things going on so with that spoiler
- 38:23Speaker 1: alert i'm sure we're gonna ruin everything so go watch.
- 38:27Speaker 3: It since you already brought it up can we go
- 38:29Speaker 3: ahead and jump to the hulk like the intro of
- 38:33Speaker 3: the hulk in the movie Well, that's the thing.
- 38:37Speaker 1: It's funny how much they still.
- 38:40Speaker 1: Pretend like we don't know he's coming right like they
- 38:43Speaker 1: set up the marketing themselves but then it's like the
- 38:46Speaker 1: director isn't involved with the marketing so like he still
- 38:49Speaker 1: paces it like it's thor by himself on a planet
- 38:52Speaker 1: and it's gonna be that the whole movie which is
- 38:54Speaker 1: kind of what they said the story was originally gonna
- 38:57Speaker 1: be there was no hulk on this even though they
- 38:59Speaker 1: stole the planet hulk idea it was just supposed to
- 39:02Speaker 1: be thor by himself at one point in the storytelling
- 39:04Speaker 1: process But it's funny how far in we go before
- 39:07Speaker 1: there's any hint that any of this is, I mean,
- 39:09Speaker 1: it really is him just busting out.
- 39:11Speaker 3: But that's my.
- 39:12Speaker 1: Thing, though.
- 39:12Speaker 3: Because they bombarded us with that in the marketing, I
- 39:18Speaker 3: kind of wish, like, when we got to that scene,
- 39:20Speaker 3: I was like, I really wish I didn't know that
- 39:22Speaker 3: the Hulk is.
- 39:23Speaker 9: About to bust out.
- 39:23Speaker 10: Can you imagine that reveal?
- 39:25Speaker 1: Oh, my God, I would have shat myself. It would
- 39:29Speaker 1: be pretty amazing. Which again, but I mean, how many
- 39:32Speaker 1: people might not have gone? That's true.
- 39:35Speaker 3: And that is what won me over, because Thor movies
- 39:38Speaker 3: in the past, okay, whatever. I mean, I don't have
- 39:41Speaker 3: a problem with Thor, but the last two movies have
- 39:44Speaker 3: been like, yeah, okay. This one, When I saw that
- 39:48Speaker 3: in the trailer, it's like, well, I got to go.
- 39:50Speaker 3: I got to go see this now.
- 39:51Speaker 1: I think I said that on one of these episodes
- 39:53Speaker 1: in the past. I saw that trailer and went, you know,
- 39:55Speaker 1: I saw the Hulk part, and I was like, this
- 39:58Speaker 1: looks like fun. I want to go see it. Like,
- 40:00Speaker 1: the dark world, I could care less. I didn't even
- 40:02Speaker 1: see it in the theater, which is saying a lot. But, like,
- 40:05Speaker 1: I watched it on DVD months after it was, you know,
- 40:08Speaker 1: I'm just like, oh, I guess I need to watch
- 40:09Speaker 1: this now. But, like, I just was not excited by it.
- 40:13Speaker 10: Either of the first two really i think that they
- 40:16Speaker 10: didn't know where they were going i think the first
- 40:18Speaker 10: one had a very hard shakespearean thing going on and
- 40:21Speaker 10: they they had a plan the second one it was
- 40:24Speaker 10: like what are we doing the second one really like.
- 40:27Speaker 1: It's totally free for all yeah like.
- 40:29Speaker 10: Nothing really like no one had any integrity to their
- 40:32Speaker 10: character anymore they're kind of really just getting blurry and
- 40:34Speaker 10: it's like who's who's what what huh Well, I think.
- 40:38Speaker 3: The second one only existed because they're like, well, we
- 40:40Speaker 3: can't have a third one without a second one. And
- 40:42Speaker 3: God forbid you make.
- 40:43Speaker 10: One of these movies and not make a trilogy. Well,
- 40:44Speaker 10: they did have to tell the story of the stone.
- 40:45Speaker 10: And like I said, that doesn't justify the movie. But
- 40:49Speaker 10: the Red Infinity Stone story is that movie. And we
- 40:51Speaker 10: didn't have to know where that one was. But man,
- 40:54Speaker 10: write a story around it. It was weird. So much
- 40:57Speaker 10: of it being Jane playing with science and playing Portal.
- 41:00Speaker 10: And I'm like, is this Thor or not?
- 41:02Speaker 1: What is going on? Well, I think that became part
- 41:04Speaker 1: of it, too. It's just like we had, I think we...
- 41:07Speaker 1: That's kind of when it hit. Like those first couple,
- 41:10Speaker 1: you know, Iron Man did okay. Hulk didn't really. And
- 41:13Speaker 1: then like they were still kind of finding their footing.
- 41:15Speaker 1: And they're like, oh, that was when it was like, well, okay,
- 41:19Speaker 1: this idea of doing the Avengers seems like it might
- 41:22Speaker 1: actually come together. But we need some more movie. Like
- 41:25Speaker 1: we can't just go, you know, it's like once we
- 41:27Speaker 1: got the Avengers together, it's like, well, now we got
- 41:30Speaker 1: to keep this series going. We got to come up
- 41:32Speaker 1: with more solo stories for it. So I feel like
- 41:34Speaker 1: that was one that was just sort of slapped one
- 41:36Speaker 1: together because we need another solo movie after the Avengers.
- 41:39Speaker 1: I think Captain.
- 41:40Speaker 10: America proves that because when you look at Captain America's
- 41:42Speaker 10: trilogy and it's fucking airtight.
- 41:44Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 41:45Speaker 10: And you're like, you knew exactly what you were doing
- 41:48Speaker 10: with this guy. You look at, and Iron Man movies
- 41:50Speaker 10: are fun and or good, but they didn't have that
- 41:52Speaker 10: focus with.
- 41:53Speaker 1: Iron Man even.
- 41:54Speaker 10: Like, you look at his, like, these are very standalone-ish.
- 41:55Speaker 9: Well, that was still early.
- 41:56Speaker 1: Winter Soldier plays the fuck out.
- 41:58Speaker 9: Oh, Winter Soldier was just incredible.
- 42:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 42:02Speaker 3: But yeah, with this one, it was a lot of fun.
- 42:04Speaker 3: And you get to that point, you know what's coming,
- 42:07Speaker 3: and it comes out. And I have to say that
- 42:09Speaker 3: the Hulk looks amazing. As much as I've complained about
- 42:13Speaker 3: all CGI characters before, this time, he finally looks good.
- 42:19Speaker 1: They've done pretty good with him. I've been surprised even
- 42:22Speaker 1: going back to the first of it. But definitely, I've
- 42:25Speaker 1: re-watched Age of Ultron recently, and I'm like, It's also
- 42:28Speaker 1: amazing how much they've made it where he does look
- 42:31Speaker 1: like the Hulk, but he still looks like Mark Ruffalo.
- 42:35Speaker 3: Yeah, he looks like Mark Ruffalo.
- 42:37Speaker 1: And I'm just like, that's amazing that they've gotten that
- 42:40Speaker 1: good at it, that it doesn't betray what we want
- 42:43Speaker 1: from the Hulk, but it does match the actor.
- 42:46Speaker 8: And earlier on, they knew their limitations, so they had
- 42:49Speaker 8: him in the dark.
- 42:50Speaker 4: Right.
- 42:50Speaker 8: Far away.
- 42:51Speaker 4: Right.
- 42:51Speaker 10: Yeah, like him in the saun or whatever, the hot tub.
- 42:55Speaker 1: Yeah, now we get to see the whole thing.
- 42:57Speaker 10: I didn't even know he was.
- 42:57Speaker 1: There at first.
- 42:58Speaker 10: I'm like, oh, is he in?
- 42:59Speaker 5: Okay.
- 43:00Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 43:00Speaker 10: They kept that scene real dark with him.
- 43:01Speaker 4: In the water.
- 43:02Speaker 1: But it gives me hope.
- 43:03Speaker 3: Maybe we'll finally get a good Hulk movie.
- 43:05Speaker 10: Well, the word on the street is that because of
- 43:09Speaker 10: Universal's license, they can't title movies to Hulk.
- 43:13Speaker 9: Right.
- 43:14Speaker 10: But they can use the character all they fucking want.
- 43:17Speaker 10: So apparently Thor Ragnarok is technically the Thor's first trilogy movie.
- 43:22Speaker 10: And he'll be in the next Galaxies movie and one
- 43:25Speaker 10: of the Infinity Wars. And somehow those three movies are
- 43:29Speaker 10: going to tell a Hulk story.
- 43:30Speaker 1: Even the Incredible Hulk movie, the first one that counts,
- 43:35Speaker 1: was before they got bought out. So I guess that's
- 43:37Speaker 1: why they could still use it.
- 43:38Speaker 8: Can they call it Baylor or no?
- 43:42Speaker 10: I don't think so. I think that's why he died
- 43:45Speaker 10: in this one. I mean, when he fell on the
- 43:47Speaker 10: bridge and turned, you got that Banner's dead, right? Remember
- 43:51Speaker 10: he said, if I turn into Banner again, I'm done.
- 43:55Speaker 10: That's that choice he made when he jumped off. You know,
- 43:57Speaker 10: they did it with humor. And having him splat on
- 44:00Speaker 10: the bridge, that was Banner giving up to the Hulk.
- 44:02Speaker 10: He's supposed to be nothing but the Hulk going forward.
- 44:05Speaker 10: And I don't know if that is because of a
- 44:07Speaker 10: licensing thing with the name Banner. But like I said,
- 44:10Speaker 10: everything I've read and seen is there's a Hulk Quoties
- 44:13Speaker 10: trilogy that's going to be snuck in. three other movies,
- 44:18Speaker 10: and this was the first one, but that he will
- 44:19Speaker 10: have his own arc kind of snuck in this way
- 44:22Speaker 10: because they can't officially call them Hulk movies.
- 44:25Speaker 1: That's such a weird license. It's very weird.
- 44:29Speaker 10: It's strange.
- 44:30Speaker 1: There's a lot of weird stuff. It's this whole thing. Well,
- 44:31Speaker 1: that's what's going on with Lord of the Rings.
- 44:33Speaker 10: Lord of the Rings is apparently getting pitched for a
- 44:35Speaker 10: TV show by Amazon. But they can't do anything movie-wise,
- 44:40Speaker 10: but apparently that's what the legal thing is right now.
- 44:42Speaker 10: They just need to clarify that whoever bought the rights
- 44:45Speaker 10: before was for movie only, and if the word television
- 44:48Speaker 10: isn't in there, then Amazon has the okay to go
- 44:51Speaker 10: and do a TV version.
- 44:52Speaker 1: Once again, it's all these new things being thrown at
- 44:54Speaker 1: people that, number one, they don't know how to... function
- 44:57Speaker 1: artistically but legally they missed all these again going back to.
- 45:01Speaker 10: Like when they would rewrite those contracts so differently talking.
- 45:05Speaker 1: To people who like used to do like promotion again
- 45:08Speaker 1: which I just did I sat down with somebody who
- 45:10Speaker 1: like when they were re-releasing movies before VHS was even
- 45:15Speaker 1: a thing and like they just there was no they
- 45:18Speaker 1: never would have addressed any of that legally because there
- 45:21Speaker 1: was no world for it to exist in Like you
- 45:23Speaker 1: could release it into theaters. That was it. You could
- 45:25Speaker 1: make up a, you could make a deal with a
- 45:27Speaker 1: TV network maybe to show it on tape, but there
- 45:30Speaker 1: was no, so they did not have anything in play
- 45:33Speaker 1: for those licenses to come. And like, so in the
- 45:36Speaker 1: early days, everybody kind of had a free for all.
- 45:38Speaker 1: And that's what we ran into like in the two, well,
- 45:41Speaker 1: like the nineties with the music rights too, because they
- 45:43Speaker 1: did not plan for it in TV or movies. Like
- 45:47Speaker 1: that's what was like the thing that screwed over, like
- 45:50Speaker 1: getting stuff put on DVD or Blu-ray and, That's.
- 45:52Speaker 3: What kept WKRP from being on DVD for a long time.
- 45:56Speaker 1: And all those MTV things because they didn't license the music.
- 45:59Speaker 10: I was going to say Daria.
- 46:00Speaker 4: Daria.
- 46:01Speaker 10: It was a shit show because it had so much
- 46:03Speaker 10: obscure music in it that they were like, we don't
- 46:05Speaker 10: even know how to get in touch.
- 46:06Speaker 1: With these people. Yeah, they did not plan ahead because
- 46:09Speaker 1: the Wasn't a market for it at that time. We're
- 46:12Speaker 1: in that same boat now.
- 46:13Speaker 3: If you go back to pre-Star Wars, no one gave
- 46:15Speaker 3: a shit about any licensees, right?
- 46:18Speaker 1: Yeah, no one cared about merchandise. That's why Lucas is
- 46:20Speaker 1: a millionaire.
- 46:21Speaker 9: It's like, oh, you got a movie, you want to
- 46:22Speaker 9: make some shirts? Okay, whatever.
- 46:24Speaker 3: And then that changed how movies are marketed.
- 46:28Speaker 1: So again, we keep hitting these little points. And now
- 46:32Speaker 1: as technology and the world just changes faster and faster,
- 46:35Speaker 1: we get to this scenario over and over again. In
- 46:38Speaker 1: a shorter span of time. It used to be 10
- 46:40Speaker 1: or 20 years. But now it's every five years, the
- 46:42Speaker 1: whole market shifts. And like, oh, shit, we have to
- 46:45Speaker 1: plan for YouTube now? Like, how do we do that?
- 46:47Speaker 3: Well, yeah, you have to go from physical formats to
- 46:50Speaker 3: now you're dealing into total just software.
- 46:54Speaker 1: Nothing exists in the real world. It's just out there
- 46:56Speaker 1: in the internet, in the space, basically.
- 47:00Speaker 10: It's all vaporware.
- 47:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 47:02Speaker 8: I love all the different... words people use. It sounds
- 47:06Speaker 8: like we don't understand the internet.
- 47:08Speaker 1: Software! The space!
- 47:10Speaker 8: The internet!
- 47:10Speaker 1: The tubes! Tubes. Yep, that's what it is.
- 47:15Speaker 9: I'm old and out of touch. I admit it.
- 47:18Speaker 1: Sometimes you gotta change your tube. Things go wrong with your.
- 47:22Speaker 10: PC, is it? I was really surprised Infinity War trailer
- 47:26Speaker 10: wasn't on this.
- 47:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 47:27Speaker 10: Well, no, I take that back. Maybe that would be
- 47:30Speaker 10: a spoiler. That's true. The trailer was shown at I
- 47:34Speaker 10: think San Diego Comic-Con, and literally one person got an
- 47:39Speaker 10: angled thing of it on his phone.
- 47:42Speaker 9: One version got out.
- 47:42Speaker 1: And they didn't break it.
- 47:43Speaker 10: But it shows Thor doing something in the very beginning
- 47:47Speaker 10: of it that would clearly tell you what happened in
- 47:50Speaker 10: this movie. So I guess in that respect, maybe it'll
- 47:52Speaker 10: be on Star Wars then.
- 47:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 47:54Speaker 10: Star Wars or Black Panther, but I would think they
- 47:56Speaker 10: wouldn't wait that long. Black Panther seems like... It'll definitely
- 47:59Speaker 10: be on Black Panther, but I would think you would
- 48:01Speaker 10: want to show people that sooner. It seems like Star
- 48:03Speaker 10: Wars will probably get it.
- 48:04Speaker 1: Because I couldn't even remember. It's sooner than I thought.
- 48:06Speaker 1: I figured that was like, again, kind of like this one,
- 48:09Speaker 1: the end of next year, but it's the summer release.
- 48:13Speaker 1: And it's early. Well, there's going to be two of them,
- 48:14Speaker 1: and this first one, I guarantee you, is going to
- 48:16Speaker 1: be bleak.
- 48:16Speaker 4: Is there?
- 48:17Speaker 1: I thought they... Now there's another... It's somewhere.
- 48:20Speaker 10: There's Infinity War, and then I think there's another Avengers,
- 48:23Speaker 10: but the Avengers is the wrapping up of Infinity War.
- 48:26Speaker 10: Because essentially, like, if it's anything like the comic even
- 48:30Speaker 10: a fraction of a percent like the comic there's a
- 48:33Speaker 10: shit ton of death like a shit ton of death
- 48:36Speaker 10: and unless they're going to do some time gem you
- 48:39Speaker 10: know restart bullshit this should just be a passing of
- 48:42Speaker 10: mantles like avengers 4 should be like spider-man is supposed
- 48:46Speaker 10: to be the first of this next wave whatever this
- 48:48Speaker 10: new click is going to be that's why i think
- 48:49Speaker 10: thor probably die or something go on to a female
- 48:53Speaker 10: one hulk man if it's anything like that and just
- 48:58Speaker 10: It's going to be really bleak, and I think that
- 49:00Speaker 10: might be kind of why this movie was so fucking fun,
- 49:03Speaker 10: because they're like, before you watch all these people you
- 49:06Speaker 10: love die, let's have some fun, because it's about to
- 49:10Speaker 10: get bad.
- 49:10Speaker 1: See, and that's what's weird to me, is this one,
- 49:13Speaker 1: because I did, like, I this is again the maybe
- 49:16Speaker 1: the first Thor that I really like enjoyed it's a
- 49:19Speaker 1: lot of fun but I feel like it's also got
- 49:21Speaker 1: such a weird dark undertone oh yeah yeah and like
- 49:26Speaker 1: it also is them like I feel like it's them
- 49:28Speaker 1: coming to terms with there are stakes and they're about
- 49:33Speaker 1: to well they already kind of by the end of
- 49:34Speaker 1: this movie they are real and they're about to get
- 49:36Speaker 1: way more real as we get into this because Again,
- 49:40Speaker 1: if we want to jump to the end, but, I mean,
- 49:41Speaker 1: the fact that, like, we destroy the hammer. It's gone
- 49:45Speaker 1: within now. I mean, maybe they do something else.
- 49:48Speaker 10: I love they put that line at Odin's home, though,
- 49:50Speaker 10: where he's like, you're not the god of hammers, you're
- 49:52Speaker 10: the god of thunder. Because they really have overplayed the
- 49:54Speaker 10: hammer in the movies.
- 49:55Speaker 1: It's like, dude, more lightning. You're a lightning god. Like,
- 49:58Speaker 1: why is everything a hammer?
- 49:59Speaker 10: So I thought it was really cool that they kind
- 50:01Speaker 10: of called themselves out and they're like, do some lightning shit.
- 50:04Speaker 10: That's what you are. Yeah. That line in particular, that
- 50:07Speaker 10: was beautiful.
- 50:08Speaker 9: Though when he said that.
- 50:08Speaker 10: And he was like, you're the god of lightning, not
- 50:10Speaker 10: the god of hammers.
- 50:11Speaker 8: And as far as like having a lot of dark undertones,
- 50:14Speaker 8: I felt like there was so much dark stuff going on,
- 50:18Speaker 8: but every single dramatic moment was underpinned with a joke.
- 50:23Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 50:23Speaker 8: With like, it was like, Asgard exploding.
- 50:26Speaker 10: And he's like, oh, you still got the foundation.
- 50:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 50:28Speaker 3: There it goes.
- 50:29Speaker 10: I mean, there was so many Asgard blowing up.
- 50:32Speaker 8: It was like, it was toting that line of like,
- 50:34Speaker 8: is it too silly? is this, like, it's, like, towing
- 50:37Speaker 8: that line all the way.
- 50:39Speaker 4: Right.
- 50:39Speaker 8: And there are just some moments where it just goes over, and.
- 50:41Speaker 1: I felt really... Like the elevator, when they were bonding
- 50:44Speaker 1: in the elevator.
- 50:45Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 50:46Speaker 10: You know, and he's kind of telling us, like, you're
- 50:48Speaker 10: a shithead. I'm done caring about you. I used to
- 50:50Speaker 10: care about you so goddamn much, but I'm done, dude.
- 50:53Speaker 1: I'm done. And, like, that could have been a heavier moment.
- 50:55Speaker 3: I love how they're planning that also in the elevator.
- 50:58Speaker 3: They're like, okay, let's do ouch, I'm hurt. And, you know,
- 51:02Speaker 3: which is.
- 51:04Speaker 3: What they actually do is kind of a cliche in
- 51:06Speaker 3: movies like that like oh distract the bad guys but
- 51:11Speaker 3: the fact that they actually you see them talking about
- 51:14Speaker 3: it i know i don't want to do it's like
- 51:15Speaker 3: a play that's stupid it's humiliating.
- 51:18Speaker 10: Play well they did a lot of good i thought
- 51:20Speaker 10: in this movie with um kind of reintroducing their their
- 51:25Speaker 10: chemistry because in the comic loki's always pulling one over
- 51:29Speaker 10: on Thor. That's the thing is Thor always falls for it.
- 51:31Speaker 10: A lot of comics tend to write him kind of
- 51:32Speaker 10: like a big dumb jock in a way because he's
- 51:34Speaker 10: always dumb enough to fall for his faith in Loki
- 51:38Speaker 10: again and again and again. So I thought it was
- 51:39Speaker 10: interesting that they gave him this moment where he's like,
- 51:41Speaker 10: I'm done, dude. I'm not dumb anymore. Fuck you. But
- 51:44Speaker 10: at the same time, they referenced all the times that like,
- 51:47Speaker 10: When it talked about the time he turned into a
- 51:48Speaker 10: frog and the time he turned into a snake. And
- 51:50Speaker 10: I was like, yes, those are the things in the
- 51:51Speaker 10: comic that kind of make them endearing. It's like Loki
- 51:54Speaker 10: kind of get one over on this big tough dude
- 51:56Speaker 10: all the time. Kind of shows that mind.
- 51:59Speaker 1: And body duality they have.
- 52:01Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 52:02Speaker 10: I don't know. I would have liked to have seen
- 52:03Speaker 10: that more in earlier movies to kind of reinforce that relationship.
- 52:06Speaker 10: But I like that they actually talked about their childhood more.
- 52:10Speaker 1: I think it's them. It's the thing I've said from
- 52:13Speaker 1: day one, and as many times me bitching about villains,
- 52:16Speaker 1: but I'm like, I've always thrown it. I'm like, Loki's
- 52:18Speaker 1: not a villain.
- 52:20Speaker 9: No.
- 52:20Speaker 1: And from Avengers on, I'm like, he's not.
- 52:23Speaker 9: He's anti-hero.
- 52:24Speaker 1: He is certainly there to be kind of an antagonist.
- 52:29Speaker 1: But he never really fully stepped up to villain.
- 52:31Speaker 10: He's got to be the sacrifice in the end. He's
- 52:33Speaker 10: got to be during the Thanos thing. Especially seeing this one.
- 52:35Speaker 10: He's got to die. But he's still traitoring right now.
- 52:38Speaker 10: He took that Tesseract Cube, which is one.
- 52:40Speaker 1: Of the Infinity Stones.
- 52:40Speaker 2: You saw him.
- 52:41Speaker 1: Yeah, you saw him look at it. And I'm like,
- 52:43Speaker 1: I know that's coming back.
- 52:44Speaker 10: And that ship at the end, the first stinger, that's Thanos.
- 52:47Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 52:47Speaker 10: So I wonder if right out the gate, Loki's like,
- 52:49Speaker 10: here's this Tesseract Cube. Can I be with you? Because
- 52:52Speaker 10: like I said, if you've seen that, trailer for Infinity War, like,
- 52:58Speaker 10: Thor's just floating out in space. After what happens to
- 53:01Speaker 10: that ship, he's just floating because he can't die from
- 53:04Speaker 10: air or whatever, but Thanos is about to fucking drop
- 53:07Speaker 10: the hammer on them, and that's going to start stuff off,
- 53:10Speaker 10: but Loki's definitely going to, I think, end up doing
- 53:13Speaker 10: the heroic... Anti-heroic, heroic sacrifice kind of thing.
- 53:17Speaker 1: Even here he did. It was like, oh, well, tough luck.
- 53:19Speaker 1: We're not going to be friends anymore. See you later.
- 53:21Speaker 1: And then 10 minutes later, he kind of comes in
- 53:24Speaker 1: to save the day. So it's like, we're already kind
- 53:26Speaker 1: of playing that card. We know he can be good. Again,
- 53:30Speaker 1: it's one of those, I don't think there's any good
- 53:31Speaker 1: in you. And then he kind of immediately proves him wrong.
- 53:34Speaker 10: I think he's a survivalist.
- 53:35Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
- 53:36Speaker 10: He's going to play whatever character he has to be
- 53:39Speaker 10: to live.
- 53:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't feel like he's truly evil. I mean, yes,
- 53:42Speaker 3: there is some... malevolence in him but.
- 53:44Speaker 10: True neutral like he's well dnd route he's just yeah
- 53:48Speaker 10: you know it's whatever just whatever works best.
- 53:49Speaker 3: For me he's an opportunist and you know and then
- 53:53Speaker 3: when you dig into loki a little bit he's kind
- 53:56Speaker 3: of got some justifiable reasons for.
- 53:58Speaker 1: Being a dick i mean maybe he takes it a
- 54:00Speaker 1: bit too far go into the backstory of the two
- 54:02Speaker 1: of them and especially i mean Thor in that first
- 54:06Speaker 1: movie is kind of a dick. So like growing up
- 54:09Speaker 1: with him, like it does set a pretty, yeah. And
- 54:12Speaker 1: I think that's another reason I ended up liking this
- 54:14Speaker 1: one so much. It's taken that long. You know, I, again,
- 54:18Speaker 1: I like him in the Avengers movies, but he has
- 54:21Speaker 1: such little time and it's like, maybe this is some
- 54:24Speaker 1: sort of like growth for the character, which may seem silly,
- 54:27Speaker 1: but I'm just like, he really is such like, he's
- 54:30Speaker 1: making wisecracks, you know, where everything else was always directed
- 54:33Speaker 1: at him in Avengers.
- 54:34Speaker 5: Right.
- 54:35Speaker 1: It's always Robert Downey Jr.
- 54:36Speaker 10: Just constantly jabbing.
- 54:38Speaker 1: Where at this point, he's the one who's got a
- 54:41Speaker 1: lighter tone and is making jokes. He's making the jokes.
- 54:44Speaker 1: He's making the jokes. So it almost is like a
- 54:46Speaker 1: weird growth in this silly character that maybe I wouldn't
- 54:51Speaker 1: have expected. But he's so much more fun in this movie.
- 54:53Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 54:54Speaker 10: I kind of wish the first movie would have been
- 54:55Speaker 10: him as a child more.
- 54:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 54:57Speaker 10: And that what was our first movie would have been
- 54:59Speaker 10: the second. Show him and Loki growing up and Odin...
- 55:02Speaker 10: being happy and Asgard and this and stuff and, and
- 55:05Speaker 10: show them, I don't know, maybe have the first, maybe
- 55:07Speaker 10: been more of like finalizing the war with the, with the,
- 55:10Speaker 10: the ice giants and stuff. But I don't know, because
- 55:14Speaker 10: for me as a comic reader, like I said, like the, the,
- 55:18Speaker 10: the relationship between Loki and Thor is so much more
- 55:20Speaker 10: interesting when that's going on. And Loki just seems kind
- 55:23Speaker 10: of like, I don't say see-through, but you kind of
- 55:26Speaker 10: always know what's up. I think watching the movies, we're
- 55:28Speaker 10: into comics. You're always like, can you trust him this
- 55:31Speaker 10: time or not? He kind of got you too. You're like,
- 55:33Speaker 10: I think we're good. I think we can trust him here.
- 55:35Speaker 10: You know, so you didn't, you kind of understood why
- 55:37Speaker 10: Thor kept falling for it. Cause you, he's like a bull,
- 55:41Speaker 10: but he's not trustworthy.
- 55:43Speaker 1: Well, I think it also proves what, what we'd said
- 55:46Speaker 1: earlier that by the second movie, they really did not
- 55:50Speaker 1: know what they were doing. Cause like, we're going to
- 55:52Speaker 1: kill off Loki. First of all, no. Cause all of
- 55:55Speaker 1: your characters, you in quotes, kill, come back immediately. But
- 55:59Speaker 1: on top of that, I'm like the fact that, you know, they're,
- 56:03Speaker 1: they do this big in like that's gonna be gone
- 56:06Speaker 1: when we all know he's way too popular you're not
- 56:08Speaker 1: gonna get rid of him and then like now he's
- 56:10Speaker 1: just back like without even really like delving.
- 56:13Speaker 10: Into it there wasn't a secret in the movie at
- 56:15Speaker 10: the end it shows.
- 56:16Speaker 1: Him but it's just it's them like again playing that
- 56:20Speaker 1: that's one of the things that's continually annoyed me is
- 56:22Speaker 1: them playing that oh we killed the kid nah we're
- 56:25Speaker 1: just kidding like they do it within the same movie
- 56:28Speaker 1: like that's the one thing that is kind of annoying
- 56:31Speaker 1: in Winter Soldier I'm like if you're going to kill
- 56:34Speaker 1: Samuel L. Jackson, just kill him. Just do it. Because
- 56:38Speaker 1: I would like to see them have to deal with
- 56:39Speaker 1: him out of the picture. And we get the whole
- 56:42Speaker 1: dramatic thing, like we have to deal with him. Nah,
- 56:44Speaker 1: it's just part of the plot. And I'm like, that's
- 56:46Speaker 1: fine if you wouldn't have kind of done that four
- 56:48Speaker 1: other times in these series of movies. So I think
- 56:51Speaker 1: them continually playing that, oh, we killed him. Nah, you
- 56:55Speaker 1: know I'll be back next time. That's a lazy move,
- 56:58Speaker 1: I feel like. I don't know.
- 57:00Speaker 8: Who has actually died for good In the Marvel, like,
- 57:05Speaker 8: what important characters have really died for good?
- 57:08Speaker 10: Quicksilver, maybe?
- 57:09Speaker 1: Yeah, probably, unless they found some loophole somewhere down the
- 57:13Speaker 1: line when they.
- 57:13Speaker 3: Get the right.
- 57:14Speaker 9: What's the guy from Guardians, the.
- 57:16Speaker 1: Oh yeah, the Rooker. He just died. So again, they're
- 57:21Speaker 1: kind of fixing that now. What's his name?
- 57:23Speaker 3: The director has said recently, as far as I'm concerned,
- 57:26Speaker 3: he's dead.
- 57:27Speaker 1: Which is fine, but again, it's these last couple of movies,
- 57:32Speaker 1: them fixing that problem. I think all of those other ones,
- 57:35Speaker 1: they just kept playing that card and then faking you
- 57:39Speaker 1: out within the same movie most of the time. Or
- 57:42Speaker 1: even again, that was my big issue with what's his agent?
- 57:46Speaker 1: what's his face on the first Avengers that they, that
- 57:49Speaker 1: Joss killed him. And then, yeah, then they play, well, no,
- 57:53Speaker 1: we think he's pretty popular. We could probably turn him into,
- 57:56Speaker 1: I'm like, bullshit. Like, no, either kill him or don't.
- 57:58Speaker 1: I think, which again, I feel like Joss is still like,
- 58:01Speaker 1: I killed him. Like, I feel like if you ask him,
- 58:04Speaker 1: that guy's dead. Like, cause I don't think he signed
- 58:07Speaker 1: on for all that other stuff that they did on
- 58:09Speaker 1: the TV show.
- 58:10Speaker 3: So it's like the guy who wrote the first Friday,
- 58:11Speaker 3: the 13th movie, as far as he's concerned, Jason Voorhees
- 58:14Speaker 3: is dead.
- 58:15Speaker 1: He's at the bottom of the lake right now.
- 58:17Speaker 15: Right.
- 58:19Speaker 1: But yeah, I don't, I think that's, that's another interesting
- 58:22Speaker 1: thing that we keep seeing them sort of readjusting things.
- 58:25Speaker 1: And again, I feel like it gets better and better. Like,
- 58:27Speaker 1: the further out we get, the more they're figuring this
- 58:30Speaker 1: stuff out. Like, oh yeah, we messed that up, you know,
- 58:33Speaker 1: this movie, but like, we're going to do better this time.
- 58:35Speaker 1: So again, I think Loki himself is a much more
- 58:39Speaker 1: well-rounded character.
- 58:40Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 58:41Speaker 1: He seems silly in Avengers almost. And I still, he's
- 58:45Speaker 1: still super charismatic. Like I still like him in that,
- 58:49Speaker 1: but there's times when he doesn't even make sense within
- 58:51Speaker 1: his own little plan where now I feel like he
- 58:53Speaker 1: is sort of a conflicted character. And like, He is
- 58:56Speaker 1: just opportunistic when he needs to be, but he does
- 58:59Speaker 1: still have ties.
- 59:00Speaker 10: I think that's where the second movie failed so bad, though,
- 59:03Speaker 10: because I think all that is really supposed to feel
- 59:06Speaker 10: like it's rooted in his mother's death.
- 59:08Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 59:08Speaker 10: But that happens so constantly. of bleh in the second
- 59:11Speaker 10: movie that I don't think it had the impact. He
- 59:13Speaker 10: really loves his mom. As much as he's a rival
- 59:16Speaker 10: of Thor and has a weird love-hate with his dad,
- 59:19Speaker 10: his mom is like, you know, everything. So when she
- 59:23Speaker 10: died in his second movie, that should have created some
- 59:25Speaker 10: kind of rift in his personality.
- 59:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 59:29Speaker 10: But like I said, I don't think the second movie
- 59:31Speaker 10: really landed that well.
- 59:32Speaker 1: No. I don't think anybody.
- 59:33Speaker 10: Loki just kind of seems like chaos at this point.
- 59:36Speaker 10: It's hard to really tell what they intended to do
- 59:40Speaker 10: with him and where he's going.
- 59:41Speaker 3: But I feel like, though, with this one, the scenes
- 59:44Speaker 3: that he was in, it almost became like his movie
- 59:48Speaker 3: for a little bit.
- 59:49Speaker 1: I think they want him to feel equal to Thor. Yeah.
- 59:52Speaker 10: They pushed up the cool meter and stuff he did
- 59:54Speaker 10: to try to.
- 59:54Speaker 3: But he wasn't the only character that they did that
- 59:56Speaker 3: to because like with the Valkyrie.
- 59:58Speaker 7: Valkyrie.
- 59:59Speaker 10: They pushed her to the moon.
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: It was pretty great. Oh my God.
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: And the scene where it shows her like writing off
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: the battle.
- 1:00:05Speaker 10: It's like, man.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: Now I want a Valkyrie movie.
- 1:00:07Speaker 10: There was like three shots that were just like next
- 1:00:10Speaker 10: level epic.
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:00:12Speaker 10: When he made her see that memory again, that slow motion.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: Oh, that was amazing.
- 1:00:16Speaker 8: I was like, where is Ride of the Valkyries right now?
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I was like, of all times, they don't play that.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: I hear that in almost every movie, but they didn't
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: work it in here. We had to save up for
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: a minute.
- 1:00:26Speaker 10: It seemed like if someone was jumping or flying, the
- 1:00:28Speaker 10: shot was epic. Just slow motion, just really nice shots
- 1:00:33Speaker 10: and angles and colors. It was visually incredible, man. This movie,
- 1:00:38Speaker 10: I didn't think it could look much better than that
- 1:00:40Speaker 10: last Guardians movie, but.
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: Well, I thought going into it, I was like, okay,
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: the trailer has me all excited.
- 1:00:46Speaker 9: I hope it lives up to that.
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: But I feel like it just completely exceeded my expectations.
- 1:00:52Speaker 10: Man, the wolf looked great. Oh, the wolf looked amazing.
- 1:00:55Speaker 10: A lot of things that could have looked really... There
- 1:00:56Speaker 10: was a shot with the wolf where the sun was
- 1:00:58Speaker 10: hitting and it was hitting.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: All the furs. And fur was like the one thing
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: they couldn't do in CG forever. Air was impossible. It
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: looked fantastic. They just now are getting pretty good at it,
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: looking legit, but I think that, again, that's coming up
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: to one of the other things that I think works
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: so well in this. And as you know, it's been
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: an ongoing thing. Issues with the villains. I think she
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: did a great job. She's just a Disney villain. She
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: just is all in on this thing. And I'm like,
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: she's just that damn good. She can deliver.
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: I feel like as an audience, we were cheated. in
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: that she could have used a lot.
- 1:01:40Speaker 9: More screen time.
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I will give you that. That's the one thing.
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: Number one, you have a great actor anyway playing that role,
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: and she brought everything to it, and I feel like
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: there was so much more we could have seen her
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: do with that character.
- 1:01:54Speaker 8: I was going to say that she did a great performance,
- 1:01:59Speaker 8: but I think it's a similar problem that we've had
- 1:02:01Speaker 8: with other Marvel movies, and just movies in general, I think,
- 1:02:04Speaker 8: where her evilness was exaggerated. And it made it so
- 1:02:10Speaker 8: that her whole character was such like one note.
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: That's kind of why I said, that's why I said
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: Disney villain. Like, I feel like it's very cartoony. She's
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: got the evil turned up to 11, but I'm just like,
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: we don't really get much like, you know, what's your
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: big backstory with Cruella de Vil? I don't know. She's
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: just evil. It's the same thing. Like, I feel like
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: she's that level of evil and she delivers.
- 1:02:33Speaker 10: She's an amalgamation of like multiple people in the comic.
- 1:02:37Speaker 10: Because Hela and the goddess of death are two complete, Right.
- 1:02:40Speaker 10: And his sister is a different character, too.
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:02:42Speaker 10: So, yeah, you've got three people there squishing her.
- 1:02:45Speaker 8: It just didn't make sense to me that all the
- 1:02:48Speaker 8: other characters in this movie really get the nuance. And
- 1:02:51Speaker 8: they really get, like, I'm good and I'm bad. I'm
- 1:02:53Speaker 8: alcoholic and I'm, like, going to be this awesome hero. Like,
- 1:02:57Speaker 8: I'm mischief and I deliver, like, all this stuff. And
- 1:03:00Speaker 8: then we just get, you're just bad.
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: You just want to kill people.
- 1:03:03Speaker 8: That's it. That's all you get.
- 1:03:04Speaker 9: And they just barely get it.
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: Scratched the surface on her backstory which was getting to
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: be interesting and really painted Odin in a terrible light
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: which I was very happy to see Again.
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: Adding layer to Odin, who's always seemed kind of boring, really. Yeah.
- 1:03:24Speaker 10: I was going to say, in a comic, Odin's not
- 1:03:27Speaker 10: a good guy. He does some asshole things that really
- 1:03:31Speaker 10: put Earth in danger a.
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: Lot of times over ego and valor and stuff.
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: And to be the god of the gods, that's a
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: very big role that could be very complex and have many,
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: many layers.
- 1:03:46Speaker 9: And we're just.
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: Just really seeing a snippet of that. But it was nice.
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: What they did do with that was nice.
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: I think it's just that if you're going to cut
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: back somebody, she's the easy one. Because all you have
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: to be is evil to be the villain. So again,
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: it's so... But I feel like we don't even get
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: good evil out of a lot of the other ones.
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: So to me, at least it worked on that Disney
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: villain level. And I would have liked to have seen
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: a lot more character development. But again, how long is
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: this movie anyway? So if you have to cut for time,
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: but I see that's where they would do it. It's like, well,
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: as long as we know she's the bad guy, we're
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: going to develop Loki a little more, but we're going
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: to leave her.
- 1:04:27Speaker 8: I feel like they could have done what they did
- 1:04:29Speaker 8: with the other characters. Such a small amount of screen time,
- 1:04:33Speaker 8: you could still do so much more.
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree. But I still think she turns in
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: a great performance. For sure. She's so good. She might
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: not be dead. I'm pretty sure she's not. That's what
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: they said.
- 1:04:44Speaker 10: Again, in the comic, Thanos' thing is he's actually trying
- 1:04:46Speaker 10: to get the love of the goddess of death. So
- 1:04:49Speaker 10: maybe she'll still kind of be around and this is
- 1:04:52Speaker 10: going to be more of... I mean, Thanos' ship is
- 1:04:55Speaker 10: there right afterwards. Maybe he does have at least some
- 1:04:58Speaker 10: connection with Hela, goddess of death, in a way where
- 1:05:01Speaker 10: he's going to save her or something. Because in the comic,
- 1:05:03Speaker 10: she's standing around while everything is going on with the gauntlet.
- 1:05:07Speaker 10: So I feel like she needs to be there watching
- 1:05:09Speaker 10: it go down if it's going to be anything like
- 1:05:11Speaker 10: the comic. because he's doing it for her, so I
- 1:05:14Speaker 10: don't know. I just hope Thanos does have more levity
- 1:05:18Speaker 10: when he shows up on screen. Like I said, the
- 1:05:22Speaker 10: one little trailer has him talking for a bit, and
- 1:05:24Speaker 10: it seems a bit heavier. It doesn't seem quite as
- 1:05:27Speaker 10: comic book-y, but man, to consider 17, 18 movies are
- 1:05:31Speaker 10: leading up to him.
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: Leading up to this one guy.
- 1:05:32Speaker 10: Man, I hope Brolin gets to talk and bring it home, because.
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: Again, another great actor, but are they going to let him,
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: are they going to give him the screen time to
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: do it? Usually is going to be the issue. But
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: I was going to, again, while we're on villains like this,
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: because again, my running issue with all of these is
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: by the end we have a big dumb CG something
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: or other to fight against. And in the end of this,
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: we do have that, but it's like, that's kind of
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: the joke of it is like, we have, what is
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: his name? Searcher. Searcher comes into play and it's like,
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: he's damn near doomsday. Like it's almost exactly the scenario
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: we just had with the Batman V Superman nonsense. And like,
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: that was my whole, like that big dumb finale in that.
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: And this is almost like a play on that of like, no,
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: we have a real villain and This is kind of
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: the twist at the end. It was like, oh, yeah, well,
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: what if we just kind of use this to our
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: advantage to get out of it what we want? To me,
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: it was almost kind of like thumbing our nose at
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: that whole bullshit that goes on specifically in D.C.
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: I did like that twist, though, because he even makes
- 1:06:44Speaker 3: the comment, he's like, this whole time I thought we
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: were supposed to stop it, but it's supposed to happen.
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: But, yeah, midway in when... I think it is Thor
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: that's just like, well, she gains all her power from Asgard.
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: I'm like, well, there's your answer. The only way to
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: destroy her is to destroy Asgard. So really, they kind
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: of start making that evident, but I'm just like, the
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: fact that they set it up at the beginning with him,
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: it's like, well, there's your answer.
- 1:07:10Speaker 9: But then they.
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: Bring up the point that Asgard isn't a place, it's
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: the people.
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: The fact that she could still be around is very likely,
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: as long as there are Asgardians in the universe.
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: It would be cool.
- 1:07:23Speaker 10: In the comic, she kind of just looks like a
- 1:07:25Speaker 10: female Grim Reaper. She's just a female. Feminine skeleton in
- 1:07:29Speaker 10: some robes.
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: What if she did live? She's like almost skeletal.
- 1:07:35Speaker 10: Like maybe she did live through that stuff, but she's
- 1:07:37Speaker 10: almost like undead. And so she's still kind of kicking
- 1:07:40Speaker 10: it with Thanos, but will look way more like the
- 1:07:43Speaker 10: death persona. That would be fantastic if they... That would
- 1:07:47Speaker 10: be metal.
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: That would be.
- 1:07:49Speaker 10: Really accurate too. That would be very cool. Plus Cate Blanchett, man.
- 1:07:53Speaker 10: Fucking bring her back. That was fucking incredible. They need
- 1:07:57Speaker 10: to do some kind of League of Legends or League
- 1:07:59Speaker 10: of Villains kind of thing with these Marvel movies and
- 1:08:02Speaker 10: just be like, fuck it, they're all still alive and
- 1:08:03Speaker 10: they're all together. They're all together.
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: I want to make a point real quick.
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: Time jam.
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: I think it's been a while since all of us
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: have been this excited about talking about a movie, especially
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: a freaking superhero movie on here. So good job.
- 1:08:18Speaker 10: Yeah, definitely.
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: I was like, Guardians, but that's so out of the loop.
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: It's still not really a superhero. I mean, it is.
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: It's Marvel, but it's not as traditional.
- 1:08:26Speaker 10: Man, that movie holds up. I've watched it a couple
- 1:08:28Speaker 10: more times, and it really holds up. I was kind of,
- 1:08:32Speaker 10: I don't know, I was kind of expecting somewhere in
- 1:08:35Speaker 10: the middle of watching it again to kind of zone
- 1:08:36Speaker 10: out and be like, all right, this movie's too long.
- 1:08:38Speaker 10: But I was like, no, beginning to end, I think
- 1:08:40Speaker 10: I liked it more.
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: I kind of feel like this movie, like the Guardians movies,
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: kind of holds up on its own pretty well. If
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: you haven't seen all the other Infinity stuff... You're probably
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: going to be okay with this. And even if you
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: haven't seen the other two Thor movies, I think it
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: would be fun.
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: Yeah, if you have a working knowledge.
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: I kind of have an.
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: Idea of who Thor and the Hulk are.
- 1:09:03Speaker 10: It kind of felt like they didn't want you to
- 1:09:05Speaker 10: watch the first two movies. The first half an hour
- 1:09:08Speaker 10: did so much damage control and reiteration. It was like,
- 1:09:11Speaker 10: you don't want us to see these last two movies.
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: Do you?
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: And they kind of reinvent everything anyway once we get
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: into the Hela. It's just like, oh, and everything you
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: thought was your past isn't really your past if you
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: go back a little further. So it kind of is
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: reinventing the timeline anyway. just by uncovering the truth, more
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: or less. Tea? I don't drink tea.
- 1:09:33Speaker 12: What do you drink? No tea. So, I keep a
- 1:09:41Speaker 12: watch list of individuals and beings from other realms that
- 1:09:44Speaker 12: may be.
- 1:09:44Speaker 10: A threat to this world, and your adopted brother, Loki,
- 1:09:48Speaker 10: is one of those beings.
- 1:09:51Speaker 12: Worth the inclusion.
- 1:09:53Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 1:09:56Speaker 12: So.
- 1:09:56Speaker 14: Why bring him here to New York?
- 1:09:59Speaker 12: It's a bit of a long story.
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: Family drama, that kind of thing, but we're looking for
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: my father.
- 1:10:06Speaker 10: Oh, okay. So if you found Odin, you'd all return
- 1:10:10Speaker 10: to Asgard promptly?
- 1:10:12Speaker 12: Oh, yes, promptly.
- 1:10:14Speaker 7: Great.
- 1:10:14Speaker 10: Allow me to help you. There were some really great nods.
- 1:10:19Speaker 10: I liked Umbrella. being a hammer because old school when
- 1:10:23Speaker 10: he was a lawyer he had a walking stick he
- 1:10:25Speaker 10: would slam the walking stick so for him when he
- 1:10:27Speaker 10: was doing it with dr strange at first i didn't
- 1:10:29Speaker 10: get it i was like yeah it took me a
- 1:10:30Speaker 10: second i was like oh they're doing the thing it's
- 1:10:33Speaker 10: they really didn't make that yeah because it was a
- 1:10:35Speaker 10: minute before i was like okay that is man they
- 1:10:38Speaker 10: played up the hand thing a lot he did it
- 1:10:39Speaker 10: like five times in this movie but yeah when he
- 1:10:42Speaker 10: did with umbrella i'm like why oh that's cool okay.
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: So that's yeah at some point i was gonna say
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: what do you think of the Doctor Strange cameo. I
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: liked it.
- 1:10:51Speaker 10: I loved his look.
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: I liked it.
- 1:10:53Speaker 10: I think he looks so much like Strange.
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: I think Sherlock Holmes does a great Doctor Strange.
- 1:10:59Speaker 9: I can't say that guy's name.
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: There's too many syllables. But I love him as Doctor Strange.
- 1:11:06Speaker 3: I liked the way he handled that performance where he
- 1:11:10Speaker 3: basically shows up and he's like, look, gotta get your
- 1:11:12Speaker 3: asshole brother off this planet i don't care what you
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: do just get him out of here but i feel
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: like they kind of shoved him in the movie to
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: replace tony stark yeah who's just shown up in all
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: the other movies out of nowhere and been like oh
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: you fucked up here's how you gotta fix it i
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: feel like that's what they were doing with dr strange.
- 1:11:33Speaker 8: Because he's also like a genius that's kind of like
- 1:11:37Speaker 8: nonchalant and just like I need to get it done
- 1:11:40Speaker 8: just get it done yeah.
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: He's a egotistical genius yeah comic wise he's Omega sure
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: which is like god level so.
- 1:11:48Speaker 10: I mean of all the people on earth he's literally
- 1:11:51Speaker 10: the strongest guy on that planet right like in many
- 1:11:54Speaker 10: ways it would make complete sense that you know he
- 1:11:56Speaker 10: would be the one running the show but we know
- 1:11:58Speaker 10: it's gonna be Tony yeah but yeah like.
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: Comic wise but with all that I again I loved
- 1:12:04Speaker 3: seeing him in there But I felt like that scene
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: could have been cut in half and you really wouldn't
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: have lost anything. I mean, it was nice to have
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: him there to be like, all right.
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: It just felt a little forced, really. I could have
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: said that about the whole movie in a way. That
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: is sort of his role is to be watching Earth
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: and like, hey, this weirdo just showed up from another plane.
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: So like. It makes sense, but at the same time, just, again,
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: knowing movies the way I am, I'm like, oh, this
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: is how we're working them in.
- 1:12:31Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:12:31Speaker 8: Because I just knew, I'm like, we've got to work
- 1:12:33Speaker 8: some other way.
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: We've got Hulk most of the movie, but we've got
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: to have another crossover, right? So that we tie all
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: these together a little more.
- 1:12:40Speaker 8: Maybe they were just trying to give us a break
- 1:12:41Speaker 8: from Stark.
- 1:12:42Speaker 9: I think so.
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: I think that was part of it. Because that was
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: my first book.
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: He was assigned to Spider-Man, so it's like, we've got
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: to get something else in on this one.
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: On the way home from the theater, I was like, hey,
- 1:12:52Speaker 3: there's no Tony Stark.
- 1:12:53Speaker 9: And then I was like, ah, Dr.
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: Strange.
- 1:12:54Speaker 10: I wonder if this is another next wave thing then.
- 1:12:57Speaker 9: I think so.
- 1:12:57Speaker 10: Maybe Strange will just be that Tony Stark persona. So
- 1:13:00Speaker 10: we're showing him Nick Fury and kind of like, hey guys,
- 1:13:02Speaker 10: what's going on?
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: You know me, right?
- 1:13:03Speaker 9: Come talk to me.
- 1:13:05Speaker 10: And that way going forward, he'll be the one.
- 1:13:07Speaker 9: Are they doing another Dr. Strange movie? Has anybody heard?
- 1:13:10Speaker 9: I think it's... Because I would love to see that.
- 1:13:12Speaker 10: I would assume you established a villain form that lived.
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:13:15Speaker 10: So, I mean.
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: It wasn't because I looked earlier. I was trying to
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: remember when the ones coming next year were, and I
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: don't remember it being on the slate there. I think
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: there's another.
- 1:13:24Speaker 9: I really don't know.
- 1:13:25Speaker 10: I honestly haven't. I hope so. I can't say for
- 1:13:27Speaker 10: sure if there's a Doctor Strange 2. He's going to
- 1:13:30Speaker 10: be heavily in Infinity War.
- 1:13:31Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: He'll be like one of the main.
- 1:13:33Speaker 10: Dudes fighting Thanos for sure.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: Well, that's the thing. They're all becoming so muddled at
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: this point. You know, I'm like. Is it really a standalone? Again,
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: it's mostly Spider-Man and Spider-Man, but it's a lot of
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: Tony Stark.
- 1:13:45Speaker 10: When movies had to introduce all this stuff, it feels
- 1:13:48Speaker 10: like that. But as a comic person, and the comics
- 1:13:50Speaker 10: have been around for like 50, 60, 70 years, you're like, oh,
- 1:13:52Speaker 10: this is all one world, and anyone can walk in
- 1:13:55Speaker 10: on any panel, and we're getting there finally in the
- 1:13:58Speaker 10: movie sense that, yeah, anyone can just walk in now.
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: That's definitely what Civil War was like. It's like it
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: said Captain America at the front, but I'm like, this
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: is easily as much Avengers as the other two Avengers movies.
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: It's just what lens are you going to give this
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: view of the Marvel universe? Yeah, like I said, I
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: think that's exciting.
- 1:14:14Speaker 10: I don't mind those kind of little cameos because of that.
- 1:14:18Speaker 10: To me, that's just more foundation building. Yes, this is
- 1:14:20Speaker 10: all in the same world. Even if I just got
- 1:14:22Speaker 10: to come ask this dude for advice for five, ten minutes,
- 1:14:24Speaker 10: that's what you would do in a comic. In a comic,
- 1:14:26Speaker 10: it might only be a couple panels, but I don't know.
- 1:14:29Speaker 10: I don't mind seeing them. I think it'll be interesting
- 1:14:32Speaker 10: to see what this next wave is and if they
- 1:14:33Speaker 10: can all, I don't know, just like, The people that
- 1:14:37Speaker 10: we've had playing these Avengers now, they're all such a
- 1:14:40Speaker 10: big deal. And now you have to do this with
- 1:14:42Speaker 10: all new people. Like I said, the kid playing Spider-Man
- 1:14:44Speaker 10: seems good. Oh boy, Doctor Strange seems good.
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: I mean, I don't think.
- 1:14:48Speaker 10: Falcon's going to carry it on his own. I don't
- 1:14:50Speaker 10: know how much more we can do with Hawkeye.
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: I mean, I like these people, but a whole movie
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: of like... We need some.
- 1:14:58Speaker 10: Not bigger names, but bigger personalities to kind of carry
- 1:15:02Speaker 10: things going forward.
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: Falcon's cool, but it is hard for him to do... Again,
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: maybe because he doesn't have powers. It's harder to see
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: the ones that are... Same thing with Hawkeye. It's harder
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: to see the more human ones carrying their own movies.
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: That's part of the issue.
- 1:15:18Speaker 3: I know Black Widow keeps getting screwed over. There's no
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: insight to that. But I would see that. I would
- 1:15:24Speaker 3: watch a Black Widow movie, but I don't know if
- 1:15:27Speaker 3: it would Be as exciting, as dramatic as this movie was.
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: Really? Did anybody else see Atomic Blonde? Because you kind
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: of got your place.
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: Well, that's what I've heard, but I haven't actually.
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: I mean, it is. She's just John Wick female.
- 1:15:43Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: That's what I heard of it. No, I saw it.
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: It's an okay story, but it is a great action movie.
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: The fight scenes are John Wick level action. epic so
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: i mean it's kind of like watching that i'm like
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: this is maybe another studio doing a test run of
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: like can we do kind of a black widow thing
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: so yeah that's that's which it's funny that i think
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: they said she was in the running for i think
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: maybe to play hella i think uh charlize was in
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: yeah for that so that would be an interesting but
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: again i feel like she's done that before like wasn't
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: that her snow white and the huntress or something like
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: isn't that almost the same role so Maybe that's why
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: she didn't want to do it again. But I don't know.
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: I think we're seeing more and more of those kind
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: of action movies hit. And we're starting to see more
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: and more get thrown towards female leads. So hopefully we'll
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: get something like that.
- 1:16:37Speaker 9: Well, that's, you know, with the Valkyrie, I kept thinking, hey.
- 1:16:42Speaker 9: The strong female.
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: And that's kind of where I was wondering if we're like,
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: can they pass the mantle if we, if again, assuming
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: somebody gets killed off next movie, if we lose Thor,
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: is she, can she step up to be the new
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: Thor essentially?
- 1:16:56Speaker 10: That's an interesting point. You know, and you could, I mean,
- 1:17:01Speaker 10: she doesn't have to be worthy to pick up the
- 1:17:03Speaker 10: hammer anymore. But you would have to have a hammer.
- 1:17:06Speaker 10: There's no way you would have to have a hammer again. Oh,
- 1:17:09Speaker 10: the hammer will be back.
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: Well, again, I thought, that's what, again, reading this stuff,
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: I thought they referenced, like, once the hammer's messed up,
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: he gets some sort of, like, sledgehammer that is, like,
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: the new version of. So, again, if they can, like, again,
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: if the gods can create a new weapon for whoever
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: the new Thor will be, I guess it doesn't have
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: to be him, really.
- 1:17:28Speaker 10: I remember comic-wise when they were introducing the female Thor and, like,
- 1:17:31Speaker 10: people lost their shit. the thing they went back to
- 1:17:35Speaker 10: is that on the hammer itself, it has the whole,
- 1:17:37Speaker 10: you know, and he who be worthy, and they changed
- 1:17:40Speaker 10: the word he to thee.
- 1:17:42Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 1:17:42Speaker 10: And that's what they're like, oh, it says, if thee
- 1:17:45Speaker 10: be worthy, so it can be a girl. And that
- 1:17:46Speaker 10: was the whole thing back then. So it just feels
- 1:17:48Speaker 10: like the hammer would have to be there to be
- 1:17:49Speaker 10: that like, you know, kind of like the king wearing
- 1:17:52Speaker 10: a crown, like you are Thor, you're.
- 1:17:53Speaker 9: Just a hammer.
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: So I think it's just like a hammer 2.0. Like
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: I think it's just a retooled version of it to
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: be given to whoever, because that was my, again, we didn't,
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: I didn't totally get to it because we were jumping
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: to the end, but again, stakes, like the hammer being destroyed,
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: but also Thor lost an eye. Yes. Like that didn't like,
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: cause I kept waiting. I was like, are they gonna like,
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: Odin's going to come magically fix everything. And like, by
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: the end I'm like, no dude just lost an eye.
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: Like that's real. That's stakes. Like, It didn't magically get fixed.
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: He has to live with whatever horrible thing just happened.
- 1:18:29Speaker 10: Which doesn't always happen. There are some old man Thors
- 1:18:31Speaker 10: that have that lost eye, like his dad.
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm like, is that signs that things are not
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: always going to magically fix themselves at the end of
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: the movie as we head into Infinity War?
- 1:18:41Speaker 10: Well, I'm curious how hard they'll play it, because in
- 1:18:43Speaker 10: the comic, my understanding every time they describe Ragnarok was
- 1:18:47Speaker 10: that it's happened like seven, eight, nine times already. Everyone
- 1:18:50Speaker 10: is reincarnated.
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: It's this big cycle.
- 1:18:53Speaker 10: So depending on how fast they want to say that
- 1:18:55Speaker 10: stuff happens, maybe there will be another Odin type or another,
- 1:18:59Speaker 10: I don't know, someone that's died and powerful. Maybe we'll
- 1:19:02Speaker 10: already kind of see that.
- 1:19:03Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:19:03Speaker 10: That next version of that person starting to show up
- 1:19:06Speaker 10: or something.
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: That is kind of, again... looking at this, that's how
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: the director this time described it. Because it is like,
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: if you go into like the actual mythology of it,
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: it's the end of everything kind of thing. But he's like,
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: The way I'm seeing it is more of like reinvention,
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: that it isn't necessarily the end of it. It's the
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: death card being played. You know, it's like it doesn't
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: necessarily mean death. It's the end of things the way
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: that you knew them. So that's what I'm saying. It's
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: the tarot card. It doesn't mean death. It means change.
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: So that's what this is, too. It's like it's the
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: end of that planet that you knew that was your civilization.
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: But it's really just sort of reinventing and your people
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: have to find something else to do with themselves. Now,
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: whether or not Earth is a good idea.
- 1:19:51Speaker 10: You know what was strange to me?
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: It's not a good idea for us.
- 1:19:53Speaker 10: Because I just watched the movie, so I haven't let
- 1:19:54Speaker 10: a lot of it process. I just now realized they
- 1:19:56Speaker 10: didn't talk about the soul gem. That's Heimdall's whole thing
- 1:19:59Speaker 10: with the yellow eyes and the sword. Apparently the sword
- 1:20:01Speaker 10: has a yellow gem in it. That's the last one.
- 1:20:04Speaker 10: That's the last gem we need. And I just realized
- 1:20:06Speaker 10: the movie didn't even point that out. Heimdall has a
- 1:20:10Speaker 10: gem on him.
- 1:20:11Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:20:11Speaker 10: That was supposed to be the last reveal. That's the
- 1:20:13Speaker 10: last one, the yellow one. That's why you can connect
- 1:20:15Speaker 10: with souls. That's why you can see people anywhere because
- 1:20:17Speaker 10: it's either in the sword or in him somehow that
- 1:20:20Speaker 10: he has that power of that gem going on. And
- 1:20:23Speaker 10: like I said, I just assumed it was going to
- 1:20:24Speaker 10: be in the sword and they were going to talk
- 1:20:27Speaker 10: about that, but I guess that'll be infinity.
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: There's another great actor and character we didn't see enough of.
- 1:20:34Speaker 12: Oh, Idris?
- 1:20:35Speaker 10: Oh, my God, man.
- 1:20:36Speaker 3: I mean, it took him forever to show up.
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: In the trivia for this, though, they said this is
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: the highest that they've been on the rundown of a
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: Marvel movie for both him and Loki. They said both
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: of them, because I guess even in Avengers, there's so
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: many huge stars that he gets so far down in
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: the list of characters that I guess because this is
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: a tighter little group here that... Idris Elba and, and
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: he both kind of Tom Hiddleston got bumped up. And
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: so this is the first time of like, how long
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: have these characters been around? Almost since the very, well,
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: both of them really kind of the very sweat second
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: movie in the run there.
- 1:21:17Speaker 3: So it's like, well, they were both third.
- 1:21:19Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: Third movie of the marble.
- 1:21:20Speaker 3: Oh, okay.
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: Third movie in, if we're counting Hulk, which they technically do.
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: So like, yeah, I guess third movie in they've been there,
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: but this is the first time they even kind of
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: got close to the top of the lineup. So, and
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: they should be yeah.
- 1:21:34Speaker 10: Yeah that's a great actor man he needs to be.
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: Which again i think they just want to work people
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: in at this point because it's become such a vast
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: universe because that's a new one this time that i
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: mean we'd never seen the carl urban character before right
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: and i'm like that's another like he's a great we
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: were just last week we were just like He's the executioner.
- 1:21:53Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: The dude that sides with her. But again, the whole
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: time I do like see, and that's another one of
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: those of like kind of stakes of like seeing somebody
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: sort of redeem themselves of like, I kind of hate
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: that I'm forced into this situation the whole time, but
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: I'm going to go along with it because it's the
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: best situation I have right now. He's kind of the
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: Loki of this movie. He's just like, he's a lighter
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: version of it, but it's the same thing of like,
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: I'm going along with this cause I don't really have
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: a better option. But then when need be, he's like,
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: all right, I'm going to sort of try to redeem
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: myself to save my culture, my planet, even though it's
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: not going to be a planet anymore. So I don't know.
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: But I like that. I liked him being there. And again,
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: we were just saying that. Like, Carl Urban should be
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: in every movie. We said it last week, and here
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: he is. So it's like, I think it's that thing of, like,
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: even for people that aren't going to be huge roles
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: in the grand scheme of things... I think at this point,
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: they just want to work everybody in. So the fact
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: that we have Idris Elba as a pretty minor character
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: in the grand scheme of this.
- 1:22:55Speaker 10: I mean, I'm sure maybe in retrospect, maybe now they
- 1:22:58Speaker 10: would have wished they saved him for Black Panther.
- 1:23:00Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:23:01Speaker 10: You know, where he could have did a whole lot more, but.
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: He's getting up there now. I mean, not really, but
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: for leading men, for being the buff dude that he is.
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: It just makes him better. Maybe so, but Again, they
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: didn't do bad either way with any of the casting
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: in the new Black Panther movie. But yeah, I guess
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: now it's harder to work him in there as a
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: crossover character.
- 1:23:24Speaker 10: Yeah, it'll be tough as hell. Like I said, apparently
- 1:23:27Speaker 10: he has a stone. He'll have to be Infinity War
- 1:23:29Speaker 10: at least a little bit. There's something to die or have.
- 1:23:31Speaker 9: That pulled from him.
- 1:23:32Speaker 3: I'd love to see him have a substantial part in Infinity.
- 1:23:37Speaker 3: Because one, I think whatever that man is in, I've
- 1:23:41Speaker 3: been impressed with. But two, just what he brings to
- 1:23:45Speaker 3: that character is, I mean, perfect.
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: And way more than probably would be there. Like, I
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: feel like in anyone else's hands, this would be a
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: pretty minor character that really wouldn't have any depth and
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: would just be like, oh, he's the guy that watches
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: The Gate. He'd be like The Gate guy, right? Yeah.
- 1:24:02Speaker 9: Yeah, I can never remember his name.
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: So, like, that's the thing. Like, by the time you
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: get to this movie and you see how much is
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: going on there with what little screen time he has,
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: like how much, like, weight he brings to that and
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: how much responsibility he feels for the entire people. It's
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: like a credit to him for making this a better
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: role than it probably was.
- 1:24:23Speaker 10: If it was just some, I don't want to say nobody,
- 1:24:26Speaker 10: but someone we don't know playing that part, you would
- 1:24:29Speaker 10: have to kind of like.
- 1:24:29Speaker 8: Or just someone a hell of a lot less stoic.
- 1:24:32Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a good word.
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: His bone structure.
- 1:24:35Speaker 8: Is doing a lot of leg work.
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: And that's the one everybody freaked out about him. At
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: the time. How is he a Norse god? I'm like,
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: shut up. Yeah, shut up. It's a different planet anyway.
- 1:24:49Speaker 3: They showed that the citizens of Asgard, at least in
- 1:24:53Speaker 3: this movie, are actually pretty diverse.
- 1:24:55Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:24:55Speaker 3: Because there were some Asian people running around.
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: I mean, and that was the thing with Valkyrie, too.
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: And that was good. She doesn't match Valkyrie. But then
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: you get in there and like, no, she's Valkyrie. Right.
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: This is great casting.
- 1:25:05Speaker 10: Man, those shots with them on the Pegasus.
- 1:25:07Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:25:07Speaker 10: Pegasi? Pegasissis?
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: Pegasi?
- 1:25:10Speaker 3: Technically flying horses because Pegasus was the name of just
- 1:25:13Speaker 3: one flying horse.
- 1:25:15Speaker 8: What do they call flying horses in general?
- 1:25:18Speaker 9: Flying horses.
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: What's a group of them called?
- 1:25:20Speaker 3: In Clash of the Titans, they refer to Pegasus as
- 1:25:23Speaker 3: the last of the winged horses.
- 1:25:26Speaker 13: Wow.
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: Winged horse.
- 1:25:28Speaker 3: I need a nap.
- 1:25:32Speaker 9: But yes, that scene was incredible. That's what I was
- 1:25:35Speaker 9: talking about.
- 1:25:35Speaker 3: It's like, man, I could watch a whole movie of this.
- 1:25:38Speaker 9: Right.
- 1:25:38Speaker 3: Like, what are these women up to?
- 1:25:40Speaker 9: What are they doing?
- 1:25:41Speaker 10: Wonder Woman did that too. That one, that shot when
- 1:25:44Speaker 10: she was telling, again, when she was telling the history
- 1:25:46Speaker 10: and it showed like the mount with Olympus on top
- 1:25:49Speaker 10: and it was slowly zooming in and she told the story.
- 1:25:52Speaker 10: Those shots are so great.
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: That's, again, but does it work because it's so limited?
- 1:25:57Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: If you got that for the entire run of a movie,
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: would you just not? Or would it be like 300?
- 1:26:02Speaker 10: The visuals on that are amazing, but nobody cares.
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: By the time you finish watching it, you could care
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: less about what's going on.
- 1:26:10Speaker 10: I found myself doing it in this movie where I
- 1:26:11Speaker 10: was like, that was a little bit Zack Snyder-ish, but.
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: It's okay right now for some reason.
- 1:26:16Speaker 10: I'm okay with it. Yeah, a lot of the fights
- 1:26:18Speaker 10: was like, this is kind of music video-ish, but I mean,
- 1:26:21Speaker 10: sometimes literally. I think Immigrant Song was used twice, like
- 1:26:24Speaker 10: almost in sync, but... Yeah, I can see where Zack
- 1:26:27Speaker 10: Snyder probably got a little bit of wood watching this movie.
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: I mean, I did, but.
- 1:26:34Speaker 10: Just when.
- 1:26:34Speaker 8: He was like, it's my birthday.
- 1:26:38Speaker 10: I could watch Cate Blanchett walk in slow motion all day.
- 1:26:41Speaker 3: We have not discussed Jeff Goldblum's character at all.
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: That's why I was trying to get the rundown of cast.
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: I really don't think he had a script. I think
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: they're like, and go. Well, actually, I saw that today.
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: They said, close to like 80% of the script was improvised.
- 1:27:00Speaker 9: Really?
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: The whole director. I think overall he wanted it to
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: be a little more, a little more loose, a little
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: more lived in kind of a thing. So I think
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: a lot of.
- 1:27:10Speaker 8: What we do in the shadows, right?
- 1:27:12Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: Yeah. And so much of that was them messing around.
- 1:27:16Speaker 10: That's best in show level stuff. That's like, okay, this
- 1:27:19Speaker 10: is going to kind of happen. Go do it.
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: So that's weird to be in this structure of a system.
- 1:27:23Speaker 10: Oh, and the vampire thing. That was kind of a nod,
- 1:27:25Speaker 10: wasn't it? When he had the spear with the three.
- 1:27:27Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 1:27:27Speaker 10: And he was like, maybe you can kill three vampires.
- 1:27:29Speaker 8: If they were hungry. And that humor was exactly the
- 1:27:31Speaker 8: kind of humor that was in what we're doing. Like
- 1:27:33Speaker 8: that small, just like small scale humor that just cuts
- 1:27:37Speaker 8: right to your soul.
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: That's what I was just, I was trying to get
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: all the characters, the Korg. That, I mean, he kind of... Oh, well,
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: that was him, wasn't it?
- 1:27:44Speaker 3: He played that part.
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: That is the director. He's doing the voice. But, like, that...
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: He's from Planet Hulk. Him and the little, like, sidekick guy. No, Squeeze?
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: What was it? That was his name, wasn't it? Those
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: were so damn funny. And, like, again, it's that stuff that, like,
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: lightened the whole tone of it. that, again, you would
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: expect him to just be a big, gruff rock guy.
- 1:28:04Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: The fact that he's so dorky.
- 1:28:06Speaker 3: Well, that voice.
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: It's so fun.
- 1:28:07Speaker 3: That was not the voice I expected to come out
- 1:28:09Speaker 3: of that.
- 1:28:09Speaker 15: Sort of creature.
- 1:28:10Speaker 8: A little high-pitched Australian accent.
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: And very well-spoken.
- 1:28:12Speaker 3: And very articulate.
- 1:28:14Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:28:14Speaker 3: Very intelligent sounding.
- 1:28:15Speaker 10: That awkward scene where he kicked the wall after Loki disappeared.
- 1:28:18Speaker 10: For some reason, that hit me way harder than it should.
- 1:28:20Speaker 10: He's like, stupid ghost, or whatever he said. I was like,
- 1:28:24Speaker 10: what just happened? It was such a throw-in at the
- 1:28:26Speaker 10: end of the scene there. It didn't even let it land.
- 1:28:28Speaker 10: It like, cut like right after it was like oh
- 1:28:30Speaker 10: my god oh my god yeah well and.
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: Just him and the the other guy being dead oh
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: no wait he's alive i've just been carrying him around
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: for a couple hours.
- 1:28:41Speaker 8: Oh my God, when he called him New Doug.
- 1:28:44Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 1:28:45Speaker 8: New Doug.
- 1:28:46Speaker 3: But back to that scene that you were talking about
- 1:28:48Speaker 3: where just even the way he brings it up.
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: No, Mick's dead. I stepped on him a while ago.
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: Just saying it like it's nothing.
- 1:28:55Speaker 8: I just felt so guilty I've been carrying him around
- 1:28:57Speaker 8: all day.
- 1:28:58Speaker 10: I heard he like... When he described the way he
- 1:29:01Speaker 10: was trying to play him, he said he was in
- 1:29:02Speaker 10: a pub or something in England, and there was some
- 1:29:05Speaker 10: bouncer that was just a wall of meat, but just
- 1:29:08Speaker 10: spoke real soft and polite. And he said that was
- 1:29:11Speaker 10: so much more terrifying to have someone that big be
- 1:29:14Speaker 10: so sincere and polite. And he's like, so that's how
- 1:29:17Speaker 10: I played him up.
- 1:29:17Speaker 3: You know, that character too, Korg, was in the very
- 1:29:23Speaker 3: first issue of Thor. and one of the first people
- 1:29:26Speaker 3: that Thor ever battled.
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: Really?
- 1:29:28Speaker 9: I read that today.
- 1:29:30Speaker 10: I knew it at race. I didn't know him specifically,
- 1:29:31Speaker 10: because I think him specifically, he's in Planet Hulk, but
- 1:29:34Speaker 10: I didn't know he had that direct title.
- 1:29:35Speaker 3: Yeah, because I was reading trivia about the movie today,
- 1:29:38Speaker 3: and it was talking about how the very first issue,
- 1:29:41Speaker 3: it's like the Meteor Men from Mars or something is
- 1:29:46Speaker 3: the name of the story, but he's one of the
- 1:29:48Speaker 3: first people that Thor ever battled.
- 1:29:50Speaker 10: He didn't kill him, did he? I don't think so.
- 1:29:54Speaker 10: That's cool. Man, it seems like Marvel's been really good
- 1:29:57Speaker 10: with deep cuts.
- 1:29:57Speaker 12: Oh, yeah.
- 1:29:58Speaker 10: There's been a lot of comic reference stuff all over
- 1:30:00Speaker 10: the place.
- 1:30:00Speaker 9: Well, like you mentioned earlier, the whole Beta Ray Bill thing.
- 1:30:03Speaker 10: Yeah, that was, man. But him mentioning the frog version
- 1:30:06Speaker 10: of Thor, even, because what was it? What is he
- 1:30:09Speaker 10: called in frog version? Because the hammer's called, like, Frognear.
- 1:30:14Speaker 10: Everything is like, there's an, see, I don't know a
- 1:30:18Speaker 10: whole lot about, I know that something has happened where
- 1:30:20Speaker 10: there is, an animal version of the Avengers. There's a
- 1:30:23Speaker 10: whole comic thing where, like, a pig is Spider-Man, it's Spider-Pig.
- 1:30:28Speaker 3: Spider, yeah.
- 1:30:28Speaker 10: Frog is Thor.
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: The Spider-Pig thing took on.
- 1:30:31Speaker 3: A whole life of its own.
- 1:30:32Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 1:30:32Speaker 10: There's a whole Avengers of them in animal form. And
- 1:30:35Speaker 10: I think that's what the frog reference was lightly doing, was, like,
- 1:30:38Speaker 10: the frog version of Thor when Loki, when I said
- 1:30:41Speaker 10: something about Loki turning him into a frog at one point.
- 1:30:44Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:30:44Speaker 3: I'm sure there's tons of things that even, like, the
- 1:30:46Speaker 3: most dedicated fanboys wouldn't do.
- 1:30:48Speaker 12: Man.
- 1:30:49Speaker 9: Wouldn't even pick up on.
- 1:30:50Speaker 10: Just like watching Easter egg videos on YouTube with these
- 1:30:53Speaker 10: movies blows me away sometimes. You'll just find stuff in
- 1:30:56Speaker 10: the background.
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: It's like, wow. If we're doing minor little in jokes,
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: this isn't even necessarily of the universe, but just for
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: us in the audience. Let's talk about the play that
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: was going on there.
- 1:31:08Speaker 9: Oh, my God. And the casting.
- 1:31:11Speaker 3: And it's, like, layered.
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: Because you get, like, the main joke is Loki.
- 1:31:14Speaker 10: That was the actor dude's brother playing the other Thor, though, right?
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: The main joke is Loki. But then if you're not
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: paying attention and you go through the credits, it's Luke
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: Hemsworth that's playing Thor. And then Sam Neill is Odin. So, like,
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: this and this, we were talking about weird people in
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: the audience next to us. This was the funny part
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: to me. was the strange couple that was sitting next
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: to me and had actually been quiet pretty much the
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: entire movie. And afterwards, we're kind of all loitering around,
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: waiting for the stingers. And, like, I hear them talking,
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: and they're like, she immediately IDs Luke Kemsworth, the lesser
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: known of the three. They reference Sam Neill, going, oh,
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: I haven't seen Sam Neill in a long time. Now,
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: who is Loki?
- 1:32:00Speaker 9: I'm like, wait.
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: Wow. The biggest, like one, again, A-list star that they
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: brought in for a weird cameo is the one of
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: the three. You got the other Hemsworth boy, but you
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: didn't get the, oh my God.
- 1:32:14Speaker 3: Yeah, because that's what Loki.
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: It was the Saturday. Saturday night.
- 1:32:19Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 1:32:20Speaker 8: Because I was going to say, I think Luke Hemsworth
- 1:32:21Speaker 8: was on Saturday Night Live.
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: So I was going to say- That would probably help
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: a little bit.
- 1:32:24Speaker 8: You'd be freshening your brain, but no.
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: But still. The lesser known of those three. Although at
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: this point, I guess most people might not recognize Sam Neill.
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: But between the two.
- 1:32:33Speaker 9: I didn't realize it was him.
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: But at least I did him. But yeah, like knowing
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: the other Hemsworth, but not knowing who... Matt Damon. Fucking
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: Matt Damon is in one of the funnier cameos of
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: his career.
- 1:32:49Speaker 8: I did hear about a lot of people being like,
- 1:32:51Speaker 8: but wait, he looks so familiar. Who's that? And then
- 1:32:54Speaker 8: not realizing until the credits are rolling.
- 1:32:56Speaker 3: I really wish.
- 1:32:56Speaker 8: Because he is such a generic looking dude.
- 1:32:58Speaker 3: And maybe there's some sort of contractual thing to where
- 1:33:01Speaker 3: he can't do it, but I really wish that in
- 1:33:04Speaker 3: the play, the Thor in the play would have been
- 1:33:09Speaker 3: Ben Affleck. And that distracted me from that scene because
- 1:33:14Speaker 3: I was like, oh, that would.
- 1:33:15Speaker 10: Be so fucking sweet. And then Kevin Smith is Odie.
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: Well, technically he was Loki before, so that's who he is. Yeah,
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: that's true.
- 1:33:23Speaker 14: Interesting.
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: I just thought that was pretty damn funny and even
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: funnier that that's the one than the person next to me.
- 1:33:30Speaker 13: Right.
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: I had no idea who it was. I'm like, how
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: do you not know freaking Matt Damon?
- 1:33:36Speaker 10: He's in everything.
- 1:33:40Speaker 3: Well, the fact that you would, would any of the
- 1:33:43Speaker 3: hymns or hymns or whatever, any of Thor's brothers other
- 1:33:48Speaker 3: than Thor. Yeah.
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: At this point. Yeah. Any of the other two. Cause
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: I'm still, you're lucky if I don't call him Thor.
- 1:33:55Speaker 9: Really?
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: I mean, Because that's how I refer to him. I'm like, oh, look,
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: it's Thor.
- 1:33:59Speaker 3: Well, I'm like, oh, look, it's a movie. I'm like, oh, look,
- 1:34:01Speaker 3: it's Thor's brother. It's Thor's brother.
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: Who let him in the Expendables?
- 1:34:07Speaker 3: And that is how I will refer to him until
- 1:34:09Speaker 3: either he or I am dead.
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: I thought that was a fun little tie-in. Again, lightening
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: up the whole Loki thing to where, like, that's the
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: level of what he's been doing these last two years. Just, like,
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: glorifying himself in a bad play form.
- 1:34:32Speaker 5: Oh, I don't know.
- 1:34:32Speaker 14: I thought that was pretty fun.
- 1:34:33Speaker 10: It was strange that they killed off all his buddies
- 1:34:37Speaker 10: so unceremoniously.
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: Thor's friends.
- 1:34:40Speaker 10: When Hela first showed up, it was like, oh, everyone
- 1:34:43Speaker 10: that's been in past Thor movies, dead.
- 1:34:45Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 1:34:45Speaker 3: The one.
- 1:34:46Speaker 10: Asian guy got to fight her a little bit tougher,
- 1:34:48Speaker 10: but man, his other buddies at the gate.
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: Except the one, the other girl was, I think they
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: might have a loophole on her.
- 1:34:57Speaker 10: Sylph?
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: Is Sylph still alive? Yeah, I think she's, well, it's
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: one of those, I don't think we saw her, did we?
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: Because that girl is supposed to, was supposed to be
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: in there and like in the real world was shooting
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: her TV show and like just couldn't be there.
- 1:35:10Speaker 10: So they didn't film her technically?
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: Well, I think even the director was like, within the storyline,
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: created like she was on a mission somewhere else. And
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: then they just never referenced it. So within his version
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: of the story, I think she's still alive. But on screen,
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: we just have no idea. Like, we just guess the
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: scene she got killed.
- 1:35:26Speaker 10: They should let it go. Because I feel like they
- 1:35:28Speaker 10: intended for her to be the romantic interest. And I
- 1:35:31Speaker 10: feel like now it has to be Valkyrie.
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: That's where I feel like they're going. Because now we've definitely,
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: which again, I think is very real world. oriented the
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: fact that we very specifically worked jane out of this
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: one yeah oh yeah he's like oh no no i
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: i it was a mutual uh and when in the
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: real world she just does that.
- 1:35:49Speaker 10: I'm telling you that first 15 minutes including the play
- 1:35:52Speaker 10: was just like here's everything you need to know about
- 1:35:54Speaker 10: thor pretty.
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: Much yep Which, again, it's been a long time. So
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: it's like, for people that only have watched the Avengers movies...
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: Especially since the second movie didn't do as well. Yeah,
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: the second movie didn't do that well. A lot of
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: people probably didn't see that one at all. If they
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: saw the first one, it's been a long time ago.
- 1:36:08Speaker 3: Oh, it's been forever since I've seen it.
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I've seen it that one time.
- 1:36:12Speaker 10: I'm telling you, watching it, and it's so much... There's barely...
- 1:36:15Speaker 10: It's not like Conan level of minimal talking, but there's
- 1:36:17Speaker 10: not a whole lot of talking in it. It surprised
- 1:36:20Speaker 10: me to watch it again and see how much just slow...
- 1:36:22Speaker 10: shots at a background that first movie has.
- 1:36:25Speaker 3: The only thing i remember from the first thor movie
- 1:36:29Speaker 3: is where he goes in the pet store and he's
- 1:36:31Speaker 3: like just give me something i can ride and apart
- 1:36:35Speaker 3: from that i don't remember much about that.
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: Movie i just remember it's so fish out of water
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: like it's so played standard like it could be anybody
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: like it does not seem like it has to be
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: a marvel movie or thor or anything like it could
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: be like one or twelve other well no it's like
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: i said.
- 1:36:53Speaker 10: It's kind of that same thing.
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: But like we've seen like several other movies over the
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: years that's like a medieval guy gets transported to the
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: modern day and i'm like it's that exact same scenario
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: it just happens to be thor in this one and
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: then we work in that the crazy science and all
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: this other nonsense that comes into play but Yeah, it
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: does not really have to be Thor to work into
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: that generic scenario.
- 1:37:17Speaker 8: I felt that the first one, it had, because of that,
- 1:37:20Speaker 8: it had that kind of, like, silly humor and dramatic balance.
- 1:37:24Speaker 8: The second one was all drama.
- 1:37:26Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:37:27Speaker 8: All drama. And then this one's, like, crank up the silly. Right.
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: Because there was no Kat Denny. Which oddly seems sort
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: of out of place, but was still maybe my favorite
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: part of that movie.
- 1:37:38Speaker 5: Like.
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: She doesn't really fit at all, but yet is the
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: most effective comedy in the whole thing. So, I don't know.
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: I'm still not sure how they suckered Natalie Portman in
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: the first and second time around. So, the fact that
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: that is why I think Jane has been successfully worked
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: out is because she does not want to do any
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: more Marvel, period.
- 1:37:58Speaker 10: For me, this is just personal opinion as a comic
- 1:38:01Speaker 10: reader of Thor. He's one of those people... In general,
- 1:38:05Speaker 10: I don't really care for romantic relationships. With comic characters
- 1:38:08Speaker 10: like Thor, Morse, I was like, god of lightning, you
- 1:38:11Speaker 10: want me to care about him, his dating life? Or like, yeah,
- 1:38:13Speaker 10: why would he be.
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: Bothered with that kind of nonsense? Let alone us.
- 1:38:19Speaker 10: That's why early on I was like, I mean, I
- 1:38:21Speaker 10: guess he's going to have a girlfriend, but it doesn't
- 1:38:22Speaker 10: bother me at all that they're kind of like, yeah,
- 1:38:24Speaker 10: let's just move on.
- 1:38:26Speaker 8: At least they didn't play Coldplay.
- 1:38:29Speaker 14: Sparks.
- 1:38:32Speaker 7: Oh God.
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: But no, I felt like that is because they've now
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: successfully worked her out and with a real world reason,
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: like if they want to pursue that, it's certainly also
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: more fitting that he ends up with someone like Valkyrie,
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: who's sort of along those same lines in his world
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: on that level. Like, It seemed really weird that just
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: some random science nerd from Earth is like who he's
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: going to hang out with. So this, yeah, it's a
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: little more fitting that he ended up with her. And
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: she's kind of awesome.
- 1:39:00Speaker 9: Well, I like the way he flirted with her.
- 1:39:01Speaker 3: It's like, I wanted to be a Valkyrie until I
- 1:39:03Speaker 3: realized they weren't women. Which, I'm okay with that.
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: Which, again, working in a very Amazonian thing, the actress,
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: I don't think it had anything to do with anyone
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: on the character level. But supposedly, in reading stuff earlier today,
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: announced that she... According to her, Valkyrie is bi, which
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: I'm like, is that just because there were a whole
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: lot of chicks around here? Like, why did that need
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: to be brought up? This is such a weird, let's
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: work a backstory and it's not really there.
- 1:39:34Speaker 3: You know, we're in an interesting time with all of
- 1:39:37Speaker 3: that sort of progression anyway, which, you know.
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: But there's definitely a little chemistry there with Thor. So
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: I guess you have to be like, well, no, that
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: could happen too. But by the way, she also likes girls.
- 1:39:48Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: Alright I just thought it was again not that that
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: came down from not that I read anything from the
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: Marvel end of it that was just the actor I'm
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: like so you were playing it though like how else
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: does that factor in other than that's what you were
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: bringing to the character in your mind but it didn't
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: really come through on screen but that was your character
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: pull I.
- 1:40:10Speaker 8: Don't know maybe the friend of hers that got stabbed
- 1:40:12Speaker 8: in front of her was.
- 1:40:12Speaker 10: A girlfriend that was her chick could be yeah could
- 1:40:15Speaker 10: very well be maybe so I remember like she was
- 1:40:17Speaker 10: gonna be upset hearing a Stan Lee respond to um
- 1:40:22Speaker 10: someone at a convention was like that you could tell
- 1:40:25Speaker 10: they wanted him to be mad and they were like
- 1:40:27Speaker 10: so you know how do you feel about ice man
- 1:40:29Speaker 10: being gay now and stanley was like he is like
- 1:40:33Speaker 10: he's seriously like shrugged he's like.
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: And i just sign off on things like that and
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: i'm like yeah i don't i don't care about the sexuality.
- 1:40:44Speaker 8: That's the least important thing about them is who they're fucking.
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: Like So I don't know.
- 1:40:49Speaker 10: I'm just with Stanley on that. It's like, I mean,
- 1:40:51Speaker 10: if it's important to you to, feel like they would
- 1:40:54Speaker 10: go a certain gender, cool. But it's like, I don't
- 1:40:57Speaker 10: read comics for dating. Like I said, I find that
- 1:40:58Speaker 10: in most comics, if there's dating going on, Peter Parker
- 1:41:01Speaker 10: would be the closest win because he's trying.
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: To date, but he can't quite get through. He's supposed
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: to be in that scenario.
- 1:41:08Speaker 10: Yeah, if like half the comic or a fraction of
- 1:41:10Speaker 10: the comic is going to be dating, it's like, that's.
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: Not why I read comics.
- 1:41:12Speaker 14: Hey, love and rockets.
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: That's why.
- 1:41:14Speaker 3: I was going to say, that's why I read Archie.
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: That's true. He's got a scenario there. That's a tough one.
- 1:41:23Speaker 3: We all had two hot girls that were out of
- 1:41:26Speaker 3: our league.
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: We all play Betty and Veronica every day, right?
- 1:41:29Speaker 10: Did you notice that Stan Lee's garb kind of looked
- 1:41:31Speaker 10: like a watcher?
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: He had that watcher thing. They're still playing it up.
- 1:41:36Speaker 3: Let's talk about that cameo for a second. That was
- 1:41:39Speaker 3: the most ridiculous Stanley cameo ever.
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: And that's saying something. Because he's had some pretty ridiculous games.
- 1:41:46Speaker 10: They had to make him stand out next to Jeff Goldblum.
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: I know. Again, I laughed my ass off.
- 1:41:52Speaker 3: I thought it was funny, but it's like you've got
- 1:41:53Speaker 3: this big weird haircutting machine that is not going to
- 1:41:57Speaker 3: cut anybody's.
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: Hair in any sort of practical sense. And then you have.
- 1:42:03Speaker 3: Thor freaking out about how he's going to get a haircut.
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: It is weird. When we got to the first trailers
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: for this, I was like, Where does hair go? Well,
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: I was just like, whose call was that?
- 1:42:15Speaker 10: Because you could see both. You could see shots with
- 1:42:16Speaker 10: their long hair.
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: But then mostly it was just him with the short hair.
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: I was like, whose call was that? Was it like,
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: I'm shooting another movie now. I've got short hair, so
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: work it in. Or do you want me or not?
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: I was wondering if it was more of a real world.
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: I'm tired of either growing my hair out or wearing
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: a horrible wig all the time. So I wondered if
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: it was more of a practical, look, this is just
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: my hair. Let's work with it. But, again, in looking
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: at stuff today, according to this, it is based on, like,
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: when you went to, you know, fight in the gladiator arena,
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: you went to, like, a gladiator school, and they cut,
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: I guess, in a very military, going back that far,
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: when they brought you into the military school, they cut
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: your hair. I don't remember hearing that in the past,
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: but according to.
- 1:43:02Speaker 3: So many layers to this freaking movie.
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: Like, if you believe all these lies on the internet,
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: that's what they.
- 1:43:06Speaker 15: Said, so.
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: I don't know, but that's a real thing.
- 1:43:09Speaker 3: Well, if you notice, the Hulk had kind of a
- 1:43:11Speaker 3: military haircut as well, but Banner did not.
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: Well, again, Mark had something else to shoot that week.
- 1:43:18Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: Which, I don't know. That's another... I don't know that
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: I fully was on board with the this is going
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: to kill Banner thing. And I still feel like that.
- 1:43:29Speaker 10: That's the impression I got because it.
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: He made it very clear. If I turn again... That's
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: certainly what he was saying. I can't come back. But again,
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: he likes to overplay that. Like, he gets so, like,
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: freaked out about the whole thing. Good reason. But, like,
- 1:43:44Speaker 1: it also, like, he's just so, like, crazy about it
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: that I wasn't sure if he was just overselling that.
- 1:43:51Speaker 10: If you're gonna do a whole trilogy in space, what
- 1:43:54Speaker 10: would Banner do, though?
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 1:43:56Speaker 10: Like, if he's Banner even half the time, like, what
- 1:43:59Speaker 10: does human Banner do?
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: But, again, I think the thing they finally found that
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: works is, number one, Hulk needs to be a side character. Yes.
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: I mean, we've seen two failed Hulk movies, and every
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: time people love him is when he's part of the team,
- 1:44:14Speaker 1: and because so much of his screen time, he's Banner.
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: And they found, again, no offense to the previous Banners, but, like,
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: Mark is good at being banner. Like, and that was
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: what was hard to do on the other ones is
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: you didn't really care about them. Just get to the
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: Hulk where I'm like, I'm just, I love Edward. No, he's,
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: he's not, again, he's not charismatic in that way. Right.
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: Can be, he can be interesting to watch, but like
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: you don't really, you're not invested in him as the guy.
- 1:44:42Speaker 4: Like, right.
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: We're like Mark Ruffalo, you buy the humanity in him
- 1:44:46Speaker 1: and this weird battle that he's going through that he's
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: scared to death of this thing that lives inside him.
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: And what it's going to do.
- 1:44:52Speaker 3: Which that's something that I like that they bring to
- 1:44:55Speaker 3: these movies.
- 1:44:56Speaker 9: They're like, okay, we need you to Hulk out.
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: And he's like, no. I don't want to. And even
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: when he finally comes to terms with how it is
- 1:45:04Speaker 1: useful to him, he still kind of hates that that's
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: who it is. So again, I think that part of
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: it is what makes it work. So I think if
- 1:45:13Speaker 1: they're taking that.
- 1:45:14Speaker 10: Out, it's probably a mistake.
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: That's just my opinion.
- 1:45:17Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: But I feel like that's the part that has worked
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: with this new version of Hulk is how we play it.
- 1:45:23Speaker 3: With this movie, there was a point where I was like,
- 1:45:25Speaker 3: he's been the Hulk for a while. Are we going
- 1:45:28Speaker 3: to see Bruce Banner?
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: Yeah. And that weird, why was it stuck on? So
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: much of it, I think, was because you see the
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: only thing that brought him out of it was Scarlet.
- 1:45:42Speaker 1: He's sort of dealing with his weird. So it does
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: play into that. If there is a reason, I guess,
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: for it to be dating, the relationship between him and
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: Black Widow is important.
- 1:45:52Speaker 10: In the comic, his girl was the only one that
- 1:45:55Speaker 10: was going to bring him out of it.
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:45:57Speaker 10: With all the fights he had with all kinds of
- 1:46:00Speaker 10: huge people, it still always came down to find her.
- 1:46:04Speaker 10: Find her. Get her out here right now. She needs
- 1:46:06Speaker 10: to bring him down. I kind of wonder with how
- 1:46:09Speaker 10: much more talking he's doing now and stuff, I wonder
- 1:46:11Speaker 10: if they'll use these movies to have him go gray.
- 1:46:14Speaker 10: Because in the comic, Gray Hulk is really Banner in
- 1:46:17Speaker 10: full control of the Hulk. Then it's like he's smart
- 1:46:20Speaker 10: and strong. So I kind of wonder if they'll do...
- 1:46:22Speaker 10: Because he can't talk like a child for two more movies.
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. It's hard to make that. I
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: think he's going to go gray or red.
- 1:46:28Speaker 10: If they really want to push it. Red was way
- 1:46:30Speaker 10: more recent. And that's technically a bad guy if they
- 1:46:33Speaker 10: want to blur that. But I think he'll probably at
- 1:46:35Speaker 10: least go gray to where Mark can just talk. and
- 1:46:39Speaker 10: not because it was cute but he was kind of
- 1:46:41Speaker 10: a grumpy angry little six-year-old yeah it.
- 1:46:43Speaker 1: Was it was kind of bratty after a while it
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: was fun.
- 1:46:46Speaker 10: Throwing the ball on the wall and stuff was like
- 1:46:49Speaker 10: kind of cracking me up i liked how he just
- 1:46:50Speaker 10: kind of acted like a kid and he was kind
- 1:46:51Speaker 10: of okay with everything.
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: It yeah i mean it works but again in in
- 1:46:56Speaker 1: a much broader way to go i but i also
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: think that's going to tie into or i would hope
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: that it's going to tie into the black widow thing
- 1:47:05Speaker 1: and like Is that the reason he's had, like, not
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: so much that, like, without her there, he couldn't get
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: out of it, is that he didn't want to. Because
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: if he's, like, going to go away, that was the
- 1:47:17Speaker 1: main reason he went away, is, like, he didn't want
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: to hurt everyone in general on the planet. But he
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: was so worried about her. Like, I don't want you
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: to be drug into this life that I have. You
- 1:47:29Speaker 1: still have a chance to have a real life. And
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: I feel like that's why he left. And then part
- 1:47:33Speaker 1: of that was also like, I'm just going to retreat
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: completely into, again, maybe not even conscious. I'm going to
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: retreat completely into Hulk mode where also I don't have
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: to think about not being with you when I really
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: want to be with you. I think that was kind of,
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: I don't know. That's how I was kind of reading it.
- 1:47:49Speaker 3: Hulk also mentioned that on that planet, they treated him
- 1:47:52Speaker 3: like a hero.
- 1:47:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:47:54Speaker 3: Whereas on Earth, everyone treats him like he's a monster.
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: Hates me, yeah.
- 1:47:57Speaker 10: Like, in the comic, he was shot off of Earth,
- 1:48:00Speaker 10: and that's how Planet Hulk happened. Just to get him
- 1:48:02Speaker 10: off of the planet. All the Megas, Strange and Xavier,
- 1:48:04Speaker 10: all the Megas got together, and they're like, get him.
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: Off this planet. You're too dangerous.
- 1:48:07Speaker 9: Go away.
- 1:48:08Speaker 10: And they just shot him out into space. So, yeah, like,
- 1:48:10Speaker 10: he wouldn't, if you want to try to kind of
- 1:48:12Speaker 10: maintain that meta, he wouldn't feel welcome at Earth at
- 1:48:15Speaker 10: all right now.
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: But, yeah, I felt like that was, to me, that
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: was part of why he was Hulk all the time
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: was being away from her and not wanting to deal
- 1:48:22Speaker 1: with the reason they had to be away from her.
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: So again, if we're getting back into Infinity War and
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: he's going to have to come back.
- 1:48:28Speaker 10: Does she die and that triggers a crazy uber rage?
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: I'm like, is there, because he.
- 1:48:32Speaker 3: As much as I'd hate to see that character die,
- 1:48:34Speaker 3: that would be sweet.
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, it's.
- 1:48:37Speaker 9: That would be awesome.
- 1:48:38Speaker 10: They've said themselves there's going to be a lot of death.
- 1:48:41Speaker 10: They're going to go this route and they're going to
- 1:48:44Speaker 10: kill a lot of these people in this big fight.
- 1:48:45Speaker 10: Like I said, in the comic, almost everyone dies. So
- 1:48:49Speaker 10: I expect, as much as it's lame, I hope they
- 1:48:51Speaker 10: can find something else. But there's got to be some
- 1:48:53Speaker 10: kind of reset. Some kind of soft reset. Because so
- 1:48:57Speaker 10: many people are.
- 1:48:57Speaker 9: Going to die.
- 1:48:58Speaker 10: So much is going to change. I don't understand how
- 1:49:00Speaker 10: you have a phase four, whatever's next.
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: Or they're just going to pick what they're... feel like
- 1:49:06Speaker 1: they've run through, which I've said forever. I assume that's...
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: But I think he's still signed on to do Robert
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: Downey Jr. I feel like he wanted out a while ago,
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: and that's why he's not going to do any more
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: Iron Man.
- 1:49:17Speaker 10: I heard Jr. is liking it again now, and he's like,
- 1:49:20Speaker 10: I'll do more Iron Man if you want.
- 1:49:21Speaker 1: Yeah, so I assumed they were going to kill him
- 1:49:24Speaker 1: off early on.
- 1:49:25Speaker 10: But that kind of makes sense what early... I heard
- 1:49:28Speaker 10: rumors that part of the next phase will be that
- 1:49:31Speaker 10: the Kree will have been impersonating some of the Avengers.
- 1:49:35Speaker 10: I don't know if that'll happen during Infinity War stuff,
- 1:49:37Speaker 10: but at some point, someone that we've thought is good
- 1:49:39Speaker 10: all along is going to actually be a Kree in disguise.
- 1:49:42Speaker 10: What if that was Tony?
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't know. But I feel like maybe they're
- 1:49:48Speaker 1: going to start picking ones that they feel like they've
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: done the run. So again, if we're at the end
- 1:49:53Speaker 1: of Tony or Thor, again, if it's time to, so
- 1:49:57Speaker 1: maybe it is one of those, they all get kind
- 1:49:59Speaker 1: of killed. But then we reboot them with new, so
- 1:50:02Speaker 1: maybe there's a new Valkyrie version of Thor. That's what
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: I'm saying.
- 1:50:05Speaker 10: That's what supposedly they're doing. And that's what War Machine
- 1:50:07Speaker 10: fully steps up to be the new Iron Man. Or
- 1:50:09Speaker 10: the beginning of, like I said, Falcon.
- 1:50:12Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:50:12Speaker 10: I think Falcon's going to get America's shield. That happened
- 1:50:14Speaker 10: in the comic at one point. He got his shield.
- 1:50:16Speaker 1: I feel like that's probably where we're going. It didn't
- 1:50:19Speaker 1: go over well, though.
- 1:50:20Speaker 10: If it didn't do well in the comic, are you
- 1:50:21Speaker 10: going to try that on TV?
- 1:50:23Speaker 1: But.
- 1:50:24Speaker 10: Technically, he took the shield back after Civil War, so
- 1:50:28Speaker 10: Falcon could have that shield if he wants to start
- 1:50:30Speaker 10: using it, too.
- 1:50:32Speaker 1: He's still in hiding, too, right?
- 1:50:34Speaker 10: He was with the team captain. Oh, yeah, he's locked
- 1:50:37Speaker 10: up in that ocean.
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: Or they all just took off. Like, they broke out,
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: but they're all kind of in hiding now, more or less.
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: I thought that was the end of Civil War.
- 1:50:47Speaker 10: Did they get out?
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: They escaped, but they're all in hiding now. Because it
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: was basically... okay we're not part of the team but
- 1:50:53Speaker 1: if you need us tony you know and again.
- 1:50:56Speaker 10: Yeah because i think that's going again off the off
- 1:50:58Speaker 10: the comic at the end of the civil war stuff
- 1:51:00Speaker 10: there were some that were still like no fuck you
- 1:51:02Speaker 10: we're still not signing we're still not filling anything out
- 1:51:05Speaker 10: and it was the people that were kicking it with
- 1:51:07Speaker 10: captain america like wolverine and some people like that because
- 1:51:10Speaker 10: x-men were involved in the comics yeah they're still in
- 1:51:12Speaker 10: hiding and stuff and still trying to do that thing
- 1:51:14Speaker 10: so but I don't know. I mean, Captain America is
- 1:51:18Speaker 10: still alive. They're going to do a nomad thing. I
- 1:51:20Speaker 10: think with him is where he's Captain America unofficially. So
- 1:51:22Speaker 10: maybe he'll be, I don't know.
- 1:51:25Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:51:26Speaker 10: This next movie is going to be tough. There's like
- 1:51:29Speaker 10: 45 heroes and villains in it. How do you, how
- 1:51:33Speaker 10: do you do that?
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: That's the thing. And it's so wide open now because we've,
- 1:51:39Speaker 1: we've taken care of some of the other stuff. We've
- 1:51:41Speaker 1: finished off a lot of these other little stories. And
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: now we've opened it up to such new weird, like
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: with adding Guardians and Doctor Strange, it now gets super universal,
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: crazy science, crazy not science, whatever magic is going on
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: with Doctor Strange.
- 1:51:59Speaker 10: I think that's why those comics blew me away a bit,
- 1:52:01Speaker 10: is that it's weird for time to have an entity,
- 1:52:05Speaker 10: and existence has an entity. All these cosmic things all
- 1:52:08Speaker 10: of a sudden have these weird, trippy... Personifications that people
- 1:52:12Speaker 10: can talk to and deal with or they have to,
- 1:52:14Speaker 10: you know, work it out with. Like, when Thanos is, like,
- 1:52:18Speaker 10: wrecking havoc, like, these kind of uber-cosmic entities start kind
- 1:52:22Speaker 10: of showing up. Like, what are you doing? You're ripping
- 1:52:24Speaker 10: up the fabric of everything. So, I mean, it would be.
- 1:52:27Speaker 1: It is really.
- 1:52:29Speaker 10: And I kind of said it before with Guardians, how
- 1:52:31Speaker 10: everything's crazy and kooky in space. They're using space to
- 1:52:35Speaker 10: reveal all the weird stuff of comics. Not to say weird, bad,
- 1:52:38Speaker 10: but some of the stuff that gets a little loose.
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: I think that's a good way to kind of work
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: it in.
- 1:52:44Speaker 3: Because especially when you keep showing them back on Earth
- 1:52:47Speaker 3: and they're like, I don't know what to think anymore.
- 1:52:50Speaker 9: Because we've got aliens.
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: Things are crazy.
- 1:52:54Speaker 3: But I think that was a good way to deal
- 1:52:56Speaker 3: with the realistic side of it.
- 1:52:57Speaker 1: Because in the comics.
- 1:52:59Speaker 3: Something goes on and people are just like, oh, there's
- 1:53:01Speaker 3: a Spider-Man.
- 1:53:03Speaker 9: He's fantastic.
- 1:53:04Speaker 12: Cool.
- 1:53:05Speaker 3: But in the movies, they've been like, my whole world
- 1:53:08Speaker 3: has been turned upside down and I don't know what
- 1:53:10Speaker 3: to do here.
- 1:53:14Speaker 1: Again, I know so little about what's going to happen
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: in this next movie. So I really don't, like, everything
- 1:53:21Speaker 1: is just kind of wide open at this point. It's
- 1:53:23Speaker 1: wide open for everybody.
- 1:53:25Speaker 10: I think when things started as a comic reader, I
- 1:53:27Speaker 10: was like, oh, well, this is where it's going to
- 1:53:28Speaker 10: get to. But to be like one step away and
- 1:53:30Speaker 10: be like, whoa, this is nowhere near the comic still.
- 1:53:33Speaker 10: Because in the comic, Adam Warlock should be the main
- 1:53:36Speaker 10: guy pushing all of this. And we don't even have
- 1:53:39Speaker 10: him yet. He's going to show up in the movie
- 1:53:42Speaker 10: where in the comic, he was the ringleader bringing everyone
- 1:53:45Speaker 10: together to fight Thanos. So even as a comic reader,
- 1:53:48Speaker 10: it's like, what is going to go on? Like, you've completely... Again,
- 1:53:52Speaker 10: Lady Death isn't... Not Lady Death, that's a whole other.
- 1:53:56Speaker 10: Goddess of Death. You know, we don't actually have her
- 1:54:00Speaker 10: as a character. It'd probably be hella, but still, just for...
- 1:54:03Speaker 10: It'd be like doing Romeo and Juliet, not having a
- 1:54:05Speaker 10: Romeo or a Juliet. It's like, okay, well, how it
- 1:54:07Speaker 10: is going to go then? Like, we don't have these
- 1:54:09Speaker 10: main characters, yet it's about to happen.
- 1:54:12Speaker 12: So.
- 1:54:12Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:54:13Speaker 13: It is.
- 1:54:14Speaker 1: weird not knowing where any of this is going except
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: to some.
- 1:54:18Speaker 10: Big huge payoff into a restart and probably somehow some
- 1:54:22Speaker 10: kind of soft restart so you can keep doing these
- 1:54:25Speaker 10: movies obviously if there's still two more hulks at least
- 1:54:29Speaker 10: one will be infinity war at least i think that
- 1:54:31Speaker 10: third one have to be after yeah yeah well he's
- 1:54:35Speaker 10: definitely next week yeah he will definitely be one of
- 1:54:37Speaker 10: the new avengers Yeah.
- 1:54:40Speaker 1: Captain Marvel hasn't even. She'll be the new Iron Man. So, yeah.
- 1:54:42Speaker 1: That'll absolutely. We haven't even kicked that off yet.
- 1:54:44Speaker 10: And she'll be what'll probably bring in. I bet Tony
- 1:54:46Speaker 10: Stark is Kree because she would be the perfect person
- 1:54:50Speaker 10: to introduce to Kree as like the space Nazis and
- 1:54:52Speaker 10: start doing that whole.
- 1:54:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:54:54Speaker 10: And if they get Fantastic Four back, that's perfect because
- 1:54:57Speaker 10: that's their main villains. Yeah, maybe that's why they kind
- 1:55:01Speaker 10: of put Marvel, because they kind of pushed her and
- 1:55:03Speaker 10: pushed her. Maybe they're like, we got these things with
- 1:55:06Speaker 10: Fox coming up. Maybe we can get it in time,
- 1:55:09Speaker 10: so we'll keep pushing her up.
- 1:55:10Speaker 1: Way past Infinity War, so no doubt.
- 1:55:13Speaker 10: Yeah, that would be good. It'd be perfect with Guardians
- 1:55:16Speaker 10: of the Galaxy 2. Just merge those two guys together
- 1:55:19Speaker 10: and it could be a lot of fun.
- 1:55:21Speaker 3: Well, I gotta give Marvel credit because by the time
- 1:55:25Speaker 3: we got to the second Avengers movie, I was like,
- 1:55:27Speaker 3: I'm done.
- 1:55:28Speaker 9: I can't I.
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: Can't keep track of all this stuff.
- 1:55:31Speaker 3: Yeah, and I mean, I've said it several times. It's like,
- 1:55:34Speaker 3: I'm not going to fall for it. I'm not going
- 1:55:35Speaker 3: to get into it. But then something would come along
- 1:55:38Speaker 3: where I'd be like, well, shit, I really want to
- 1:55:39Speaker 3: see the new Captain America movie, but I'm going to
- 1:55:41Speaker 3: watch this bullshit.
- 1:55:43Speaker 1: I don't want to watch Ant-Man, damn it.
- 1:55:46Speaker 3: Yeah, and now with this and with the last Guardians
- 1:55:50Speaker 3: movie and with the last Avengers and with Doctor Strange,
- 1:55:53Speaker 3: I'm on the edge of my seat and I'm like,
- 1:55:55Speaker 3: give me Black Panther. Give me You know, the next
- 1:55:58Speaker 3: Avengers movie. Give me another Hulk movie.
- 1:56:01Speaker 10: I think Blame Panther is going to be monstrous.
- 1:56:03Speaker 9: Oh, my God.
- 1:56:05Speaker 10: Again, I think they don't know. I think it'll be
- 1:56:06Speaker 10: like Civil War again, money-wise. I think Blame Panther is
- 1:56:09Speaker 10: just going to kill it. And February, come on. Black
- 1:56:15Speaker 10: Panther in February?
- 1:56:17Speaker 1: I mean, normally that's a dumping ground. This movie is
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: going to make so much money. When you're going to
- 1:56:20Speaker 1: have no competition.
- 1:56:23Speaker 3: There's a lot of pressure writing on that movie for...
- 1:56:27Speaker 3: For a social standpoint. But from what I've seen in
- 1:56:31Speaker 3: the trailer, it looks like it's going to pay off.
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. I mean, this is actually something good to
- 1:56:36Speaker 1: go see.
- 1:56:37Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: And that's the thing. Again, looking at studios and producers,
- 1:56:43Speaker 1: a lot of people forget that audience. And, like, we're talking...
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: how much fucking money tyler perry movie makes and they're
- 1:56:51Speaker 1: terrible but oh but that's i don't know i haven't
- 1:56:54Speaker 1: seen maybe any of them but i'm like just looking
- 1:56:57Speaker 1: at like the money that those will rake in when
- 1:56:59Speaker 1: it's boo too you know and i'm just like if
- 1:57:02Speaker 1: you gave something that actually had something to be proud
- 1:57:05Speaker 1: right like that audience i would hope i mean social
- 1:57:11Speaker 1: things aside it looks like it's a good which it
- 1:57:15Speaker 1: should be a good movie i mean they They should
- 1:57:17Speaker 1: take the character seriously.
- 1:57:18Speaker 3: They should, because like I said, there's a lot riding
- 1:57:21Speaker 3: on it. They should be able to say, okay, here's
- 1:57:23Speaker 3: something that we can back up and that is, regardless
- 1:57:28Speaker 3: of all the equality part.
- 1:57:30Speaker 9: Of it, it's just a good movie.
- 1:57:32Speaker 3: Because that's really how you make progress, is you give
- 1:57:35Speaker 3: people something good.
- 1:57:36Speaker 10: I heard it was written as a Bond film.
- 1:57:38Speaker 12: Really?
- 1:57:39Speaker 10: Which surprised me from the trailer.
- 1:57:40Speaker 1: Seriously.
- 1:57:40Speaker 10: I heard that it was written that it is going
- 1:57:43Speaker 10: to feel like a James Bond movie. And that it
- 1:57:46Speaker 10: will be Black Panther going off doing these missions, international missions.
- 1:57:50Speaker 10: It's more about them starting to get discovered, so he's
- 1:57:53Speaker 10: doing whatever, these international missions, but it's actually being cut
- 1:57:56Speaker 10: like a Bond movie.
- 1:57:58Speaker 1: I mean, he does live in like a Bond villain lair.
- 1:58:00Speaker 1: It's the new Star Tower, period.
- 1:58:02Speaker 10: The next wave, that'll be where they get together, he.
- 1:58:06Speaker 3: Is pretty much a bond villain except except he's a
- 1:58:08Speaker 3: zero a superhero yeah but even the the villain there
- 1:58:13Speaker 3: is very bond villainy.
- 1:58:14Speaker 10: Now yeah it bugs me he doesn't have an accent
- 1:58:17Speaker 10: after watching a trailer like 10 times like why is
- 1:58:19Speaker 10: killmonger not speaking african he's speaking like he's from the
- 1:58:23Speaker 10: hood everyone else is speaking like they're from africa but
- 1:58:26Speaker 10: you're from africa too so like I don't know, that
- 1:58:29Speaker 10: kind of bugged me because I was like, that's a
- 1:58:31Speaker 10: little detail, but it's kind of a big detail. You
- 1:58:33Speaker 10: don't speak like everyone else from Africa. You're talking like
- 1:58:36Speaker 10: you're from the streets.
- 1:58:37Speaker 1: I don't understand.
- 1:58:38Speaker 8: Well, maybe we'll find out in the movie that there's
- 1:58:40Speaker 8: some reason for that.
- 1:58:42Speaker 1: He's like, some eye of him yelling.
- 1:58:44Speaker 10: I'm like, you're yelling like you're a thug on the
- 1:58:46Speaker 10: street right now, but everyone else has this great English
- 1:58:49Speaker 10: accent going on. I'm like, why are you not getting.
- 1:58:53Speaker 3: What's the guy's name who's playing Black Panther?
- 1:58:56Speaker 10: I might not forget that dude.
- 1:59:00Speaker 3: Well, regardless, that guy, I could listen to him talk
- 1:59:02Speaker 3: for like weeks at a time.
- 1:59:03Speaker 1: Well, that's the thing. It's also got like, they should
- 1:59:06Speaker 1: make a good movie regardless. Right. Here's our hero. We're
- 1:59:09Speaker 1: going to make a good movie. But the fact that
- 1:59:11Speaker 1: it is like, is deep rooted in history, even if
- 1:59:15Speaker 1: it's their made up history, like it is like showing
- 1:59:19Speaker 1: this country, this continent, this, this entire world, that most
- 1:59:24Speaker 1: people have no idea what's going on about and could
- 1:59:27Speaker 1: care less about.
- 1:59:28Speaker 10: Techno Africa?
- 1:59:29Speaker 1: Yeah. It's like Blade Runner Africa. Yeah, it's basically just
- 1:59:34Speaker 1: putting a new spin on it, but at the same
- 1:59:36Speaker 1: time giving kind of something to be proud of, of
- 1:59:39Speaker 1: this entire heritage.
- 1:59:41Speaker 10: Oh, no doubt.
- 1:59:41Speaker 1: That gets overlooked by everybody. You can go on YouTube.
- 1:59:44Speaker 10: You can go on YouTube.
- 1:59:45Speaker 1: That heritage sometimes.
- 1:59:46Speaker 10: And watch reaction videos.
- 1:59:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:59:48Speaker 10: Black people are just crying. Just crying in a trailer
- 1:59:51Speaker 10: because it's the first time. And it's not even like
- 1:59:55Speaker 10: Blade where it's like, oh, it's.
- 1:59:56Speaker 1: A black hero. No, look at the cast. Look at
- 1:59:58Speaker 1: that fucking poster.
- 2:00:00Speaker 10: It's a hilarious fucking meme, but everyone is black except
- 2:00:04Speaker 10: for the two white dudes. From Lord of the Rings,
- 2:00:06Speaker 10: who are the Tolkien white guys. But seriously, look at
- 2:00:11Speaker 10: a poster. I mean, this is the first time, not
- 2:00:13Speaker 10: only is it about a black hero, but it's a
- 2:00:15Speaker 10: black cast. This is an entirely for you movie, which
- 2:00:20Speaker 10: is what.
- 2:00:20Speaker 1: Wonder Woman did for women recently. And it should be
- 2:00:23Speaker 1: fucking normal.
- 2:00:24Speaker 8: And this should be not even a big deal.
- 2:00:25Speaker 10: And I think that's what this will do, to be like, look,
- 2:00:28Speaker 10: because you've got to convince someone it'll make money.
- 2:00:30Speaker 2: I'm fine.
- 2:00:30Speaker 10: Fucking fortunately, and that's what this will do. Be like, no,
- 2:00:33Speaker 10: there's a market for this. Don't be a racist dick
- 2:00:35Speaker 10: and make this stuff.
- 2:00:36Speaker 3: I think outside of just the black audience, I really
- 2:00:41Speaker 3: do think this is going to appeal to everybody.
- 2:00:43Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure.
- 2:00:44Speaker 3: I think there are going to be people who 10
- 2:00:45Speaker 3: years ago would have said, a black superhero, what the fuck?
- 2:00:48Speaker 3: I think they're going to be the first ones in
- 2:00:50Speaker 3: line to go watch the movie. And again, this is
- 2:00:52Speaker 3: all based on the three-minute trailer I watched yesterday, and
- 2:00:56Speaker 3: it blew my mind.
- 2:00:57Speaker 1: Well, I think the same thing I said about Wonder
- 2:00:59Speaker 1: Woman is like, I think the most functional thing it
- 2:01:02Speaker 1: can do is make people not even pay attention to that. Exactly.
- 2:01:05Speaker 1: It's like, I'm just here because this superhero kicks ass.
- 2:01:08Speaker 1: The whole Joss Whedon thing. Not that they're a woman,
- 2:01:10Speaker 1: not that they're black, that just superhero is my hero.
- 2:01:13Speaker 8: It's because it's not going to be a black superhero
- 2:01:15Speaker 8: that plays on black stereotypes.
- 2:01:17Speaker 1: It's not black lightning.
- 2:01:19Speaker 4: Right.
- 2:01:19Speaker 10: And as much as I love Luke Cage, Luke Cage
- 2:01:22Speaker 10: is literally black superhero.
- 2:01:23Speaker 8: From what I've heard, the African things in it are accurate.
- 2:01:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:01:27Speaker 1: And that's very good.
- 2:01:30Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:01:30Speaker 3: Because I would hate for them to have this good movie,
- 2:01:35Speaker 3: this great movie, otherwise, and then you have a whole
- 2:01:38Speaker 3: subset of people who actually know about that stuff.
- 2:01:40Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 2:01:41Speaker 3: And they're like, what are you doing to this?
- 2:01:42Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:01:44Speaker 8: Like, apparently, the scarification and all that stuff.
- 2:01:47Speaker 3: That was impressive, first of all. That looked very real. And,
- 2:01:53Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, I am pumped for this movie. I
- 2:01:55Speaker 3: have not been this excited about a movie... that's this
- 2:02:01Speaker 3: far away in like a while.
- 2:02:03Speaker 8: Where geographically in africa is it supposed to be like
- 2:02:06Speaker 8: the it's.
- 2:02:07Speaker 10: Like near south africa it's near south africa i want
- 2:02:10Speaker 10: to say near the southern tip.
- 2:02:12Speaker 3: And unfortunately i i know nothing about the character of
- 2:02:15Speaker 3: black panther but i still want to see this freaking
- 2:02:18Speaker 3: movie i mean i you know i am this.
- 2:02:20Speaker 8: Fucking all-star cast michael b jordan i love michael b jordan.
- 2:02:24Speaker 1: Which i think this is part of it too is
- 2:02:26Speaker 1: like you because there's so few people that know much
- 2:02:30Speaker 1: about it that you kind of have free reign to
- 2:02:32Speaker 1: be like okay even if we're not going to be
- 2:02:35Speaker 1: 100 to the comic we can create what we want
- 2:02:38Speaker 1: it to be what we need it to be it's
- 2:02:40Speaker 1: like especially to fit into this universe now and like
- 2:02:43Speaker 1: you can bring everybody in kind of from the get-go
- 2:02:47Speaker 1: it's like we already had this great introduction to him
- 2:02:49Speaker 1: in civil war so it's like from this point on
- 2:02:52Speaker 1: it's just like everybody's going to be a Black Panther
- 2:02:55Speaker 1: fan because we're in on the ground floor. It's like
- 2:02:57Speaker 1: you can just come in now, explain whatever backstory you want,
- 2:03:00Speaker 1: and be like, look how badass this guy is. You'll
- 2:03:03Speaker 1: be right.
- 2:03:04Speaker 3: When I heard he was going to be in Civil War,
- 2:03:07Speaker 3: I was like, okay, big deal. Because I know nothing
- 2:03:09Speaker 3: about that character because it's kind of, Black Panther to me,
- 2:03:13Speaker 3: like I knew he existed, but it seemed like he'd
- 2:03:15Speaker 3: just sort of been swept under the rug.
- 2:03:17Speaker 1: For all these years.
- 2:03:18Speaker 3: And a guy pops up on screen and he puts
- 2:03:20Speaker 3: the suit on. And delivers an amazing performance. And I
- 2:03:25Speaker 3: remember saying, that's the next movie I want to see.
- 2:03:28Speaker 3: I want to see a Black Panther movie. So thank you, Marvel.
- 2:03:32Speaker 1: For listening. And for seemingly putting together a good version
- 2:03:36Speaker 1: of this movie.
- 2:03:37Speaker 8: Just like the one line that they use in the trailer,
- 2:03:40Speaker 8: I feel like that sends chills down my spine.
- 2:03:42Speaker 13: Which line?
- 2:03:42Speaker 1: I don't... You are a good man.
- 2:03:45Speaker 5: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:03:46Speaker 1: It's hard for a good man to be king.
- 2:03:48Speaker 3: I think I was so excited I couldn't hear.
- 2:03:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:03:52Speaker 3: If that's possible, I don't know.
- 2:03:55Speaker 14: So, we have something to look forward to.
- 2:03:58Speaker 10: Just not in two weeks.
- 2:03:59Speaker 1: I was going to say, we'll probably be back before
- 2:04:03Speaker 1: then to talk about superheroes.
- 2:04:05Speaker 3: I was more excited by that trailer than I was
- 2:04:08Speaker 3: by the Star Wars trailer.
- 2:04:10Speaker 9: Of course, Star Wars.
- 2:04:12Speaker 1: You.
- 2:04:12Speaker 3: Tell me Star Wars is coming out, okay, I'm already
- 2:04:15Speaker 3: in line.
- 2:04:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:04:16Speaker 9: No problem.
- 2:04:19Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 2:04:19Speaker 14: That's yet to be seen. I guess we'll be back
- 2:04:21Speaker 14: for that.
- 2:04:23Speaker 9: As well.
- 2:04:24Speaker 3: It's just a little bit over a month away.
- 2:04:26Speaker 1: Yeah. That's a lot to deal with, too, really. Because
- 2:04:30Speaker 1: we haven't continued those characters for two years now, so
- 2:04:34Speaker 1: it's a lot riding on this, too, going that next step.
- 2:04:37Speaker 10: I kind of feel like it's becoming a bit too
- 2:04:39Speaker 10: much of a whodunit. In a sense that it seems
- 2:04:42Speaker 10: like JJ's being way... Abrams didn't do this.
- 2:04:45Speaker 12: One, though, did he?
- 2:04:46Speaker 3: Not this one.
- 2:04:46Speaker 1: I guess he established it in the first one. He's
- 2:04:47Speaker 1: coming back, it sounds like.
- 2:04:48Speaker 10: This mystery box stuff... Because, again... I scour trailers. The
- 2:04:53Speaker 10: moment a trailer drops, I'm like, I watch it 10 times,
- 2:04:56Speaker 10: and I'm watching videos, getting all the Easter eggs. And
- 2:04:58Speaker 10: that trailer, trust me, is opening up a million new questions.
- 2:05:02Speaker 8: Oh, yeah.
- 2:05:03Speaker 10: Like, literally, at this point, anyone can be good or bad.
- 2:05:06Speaker 1: Anyone. And you're just like, where is Star Wars going?
- 2:05:09Speaker 3: Like, you don't even know who's good.
- 2:05:10Speaker 1: And bad anymore.
- 2:05:11Speaker 3: I am certain that trailer has been edited in such
- 2:05:13Speaker 3: a way to be so misleading.
- 2:05:14Speaker 1: There's some really.
- 2:05:16Speaker 10: The scene with Rey going to grab Kylo's hand, if
- 2:05:19Speaker 10: you look in the background, two.
- 2:05:21Speaker 1: Completely different scenes.
- 2:05:23Speaker 10: Two completely different scenes.
- 2:05:25Speaker 1: They did that last time, too, though. They built up
- 2:05:28Speaker 1: so much that we thought that the other character was
- 2:05:31Speaker 1: going to be the one learning the Force and having
- 2:05:33Speaker 1: the lightsaber.
- 2:05:34Speaker 3: I feel like everyone in this room has seen enough
- 2:05:37Speaker 3: movies and enough trailers to know that what you see
- 2:05:39Speaker 3: in the trailer is not what's going to be in
- 2:05:41Speaker 3: the movie.
- 2:05:42Speaker 10: But we're not the bulk of The population is trying
- 2:05:47Speaker 10: to spur you like, let's edit this.
- 2:05:50Speaker 3: That's why I've been avoiding reading all the bullshit fan theories.
- 2:05:54Speaker 3: Just like with episode seven, whichever one that was, The
- 2:06:01Speaker 3: whole thing about, oh, is Luke Kylo Ren and all that,
- 2:06:05Speaker 3: you know, it's like.
- 2:06:05Speaker 1: I mean, basically, it's just everybody doing the same thing
- 2:06:08Speaker 1: as we did for years. Like, we just stood around
- 2:06:11Speaker 1: having these conversations, but now the internet is just.
- 2:06:13Speaker 10: We just didn't have the ability to get to everyone. Like,
- 2:06:15Speaker 10: it was just our opinions in the room.
- 2:06:17Speaker 9: Now it's like.
- 2:06:18Speaker 1: And we're now infesting the rest of the world with that.
- 2:06:22Speaker 10: This is why there were so many fights in comic
- 2:06:23Speaker 10: book shops.
- 2:06:24Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 2:06:24Speaker 1: Seriously, this is why geeky kids beat each other up
- 2:06:28Speaker 1: out in front of comic shops because you got an
- 2:06:30Speaker 1: argument over whether Boba Fett was dead or not.
- 2:06:33Speaker 9: Which time?
- 2:06:36Speaker 1: After he got belched out the first time.
- 2:06:38Speaker 10: Man, this Han Solo movie has me scared to death.
- 2:06:41Speaker 10: I'm not feeling anything coming out of this.
- 2:06:44Speaker 3: I'm worried that that's going to be like the Ewok movies.
- 2:06:48Speaker 10: Right there with you.
- 2:06:49Speaker 4: What?
- 2:06:49Speaker 1: Those were great. Sounds like a great idea.
- 2:06:51Speaker 3: Then you sit down and watch it and you're like,
- 2:06:53Speaker 3: oh man.
- 2:06:53Speaker 1: Is it also going to have Wilford Brimley? Because that'd
- 2:06:55Speaker 1: be pretty awesome.
- 2:06:56Speaker 12: Yes.
- 2:06:56Speaker 3: Yes, Brian.
- 2:06:57Speaker 5: All right.
- 2:06:57Speaker 9: That's all I need.
- 2:06:58Speaker 1: He's still out there.
- 2:06:59Speaker 3: He's going to be somebody.
- 2:07:03Speaker 9: He'll be Jabba the Hutt.
- 2:07:06Speaker 1: Alright.
- 2:07:08Speaker 10: It is interesting that I can say having watched a
- 2:07:11Speaker 10: Justice League trailer, I've watched at least four or five times,
- 2:07:14Speaker 10: I have no idea what that movie's about.
- 2:07:16Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 2:07:16Speaker 10: Which is weird because most movies it's the other way around.
- 2:07:19Speaker 1: And it seems like there's a very key point that
- 2:07:23Speaker 1: I felt like was gonna happen after the last movie
- 2:07:27Speaker 1: and well after the last Batman v Superman and then
- 2:07:31Speaker 1: like I've heard all these fan theories about what is
- 2:07:34Speaker 1: going to happen but It is nowhere in that trailer.
- 2:07:38Speaker 13: No.
- 2:07:38Speaker 1: If we're, again, not the spoiling thing. There's two huge
- 2:07:41Speaker 1: spoilers that apparently. There's a huge Superman angle that like
- 2:07:45Speaker 1: there is not an ounce of Superman in that trailer.
- 2:07:48Speaker 10: Well, and Green Lantern. Apparently Green Lantern is the other
- 2:07:52Speaker 10: thing that, unconfirmed, but apparently the rumors are that they
- 2:07:56Speaker 10: somehow kept Green Lantern under wraps this whole time He's
- 2:07:59Speaker 10: just going to show up in it.
- 2:08:00Speaker 8: Don't ruin Green Lantern.
- 2:08:01Speaker 1: I think we already had a movie do that.
- 2:08:04Speaker 3: The stand-up that I was talking about at the theater,
- 2:08:08Speaker 3: if I remember correctly, features Superman and The Flash, but
- 2:08:13Speaker 3: no Green Lantern.
- 2:08:14Speaker 9: No Green Lantern.
- 2:08:15Speaker 10: Yeah apparently that's the rumor is that because i've seen
- 2:08:18Speaker 10: some small talk where they're like dc's got this huge
- 2:08:22Speaker 10: surprise and they're actually getting away with it it better.
- 2:08:25Speaker 3: Be that's part of martian man because why he's not
- 2:08:29Speaker 3: part of this already.
- 2:08:30Speaker 10: I'm with you i'm a he i actually like him
- 2:08:33Speaker 10: in supergirl i wouldn't mind if they just grabbed him
- 2:08:36Speaker 10: over like.
- 2:08:37Speaker 1: But they never do that well because.
- 2:08:39Speaker 10: He's barely even martian man hunter on super.
- 2:08:42Speaker 1: Yeah i know there's There's never been a version. Megan's
- 2:08:45Speaker 1: even in it too.
- 2:08:46Speaker 10: And it's like, oh, why are you both walking around
- 2:08:48Speaker 10: as humans all the time?
- 2:08:49Speaker 3: There's never been a version of Justice League where he's
- 2:08:52Speaker 3: not in there somewhere.
- 2:08:53Speaker 9: Right.
- 2:08:54Speaker 10: I agree. Cyborg didn't need to be there. In my head,
- 2:08:58Speaker 10: Cyborg's gone and Manhunter and Green Lantern are in there
- 2:09:01Speaker 10: with them. But, you know, DC wants it. They're trying.
- 2:09:05Speaker 10: They've still been pushing Cyborg so hard. fanboys is not
- 2:09:08Speaker 10: it's their own really into him you know and i
- 2:09:11Speaker 10: hate him i i hate.
- 2:09:13Speaker 3: To make this issue with it but marvel's got black
- 2:09:18Speaker 3: panther coming out yeah i.
- 2:09:19Speaker 1: Mean dc needs is them trying something which is good
- 2:09:24Speaker 1: but at the same way why not why not.
- 2:09:27Speaker 3: Give us a black green lantern.
- 2:09:29Speaker 1: Yeah which worked which we have which worked amazingly well before.
- 2:09:33Speaker 10: John stewart would be fine There you go. We don't
- 2:09:36Speaker 10: need a... And I'm sure... He's so CGI. Even in
- 2:09:40Speaker 10: this updated trailer, he still looks so.
- 2:09:42Speaker 3: Flat to me.
- 2:09:43Speaker 1: It looks like a bad.
- 2:09:44Speaker 3: It looks like a halfway decent cause player at a convention. Which,
- 2:09:50Speaker 3: if I saw a guy walking around with that quality
- 2:09:53Speaker 3: of costume, I'd be like, yeah. But not a $ 180
- 2:09:56Speaker 3: billion movie.
- 2:09:57Speaker 1: See, that's what's sad, is I feel like the TV
- 2:09:59Speaker 1: suit looks better.
- 2:10:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:10:01Speaker 1: Like, that one looks pretty damn good. And I'm like,
- 2:10:04Speaker 1: their budget on CW is way less than what you're
- 2:10:07Speaker 1: throwing into this movie.
- 2:10:08Speaker 10: I don't understand why robots have to have so many
- 2:10:11Speaker 10: edges now. Like, what's wrong with just sleek robots? Like,
- 2:10:15Speaker 10: Transformers and stuff, everything has to.
- 2:10:17Speaker 1: Be so sharp and edgy and... Looks so much better
- 2:10:19Speaker 1: on the TV show. Oh, man, yeah.
- 2:10:21Speaker 10: I don't care for the panels.
- 2:10:22Speaker 3: It just looks cheap.
- 2:10:24Speaker 10: Just kind of crisscrossing all over him.
- 2:10:27Speaker 3: So is it the suit that makes him run fast now?
- 2:10:31Speaker 10: My understanding is that the only reason the suit existed
- 2:10:33Speaker 10: in a comic is because of friction and whatever from
- 2:10:36Speaker 10: moving so fast.
- 2:10:37Speaker 1: He would burn off.
- 2:10:38Speaker 3: He would explode if he ran that fast.
- 2:10:39Speaker 10: But the kid in the movie, it looks like he
- 2:10:41Speaker 10: made it in his backyard. It looks like there's panels
- 2:10:43Speaker 10: of metal that have been wrapped around what iron or
- 2:10:46Speaker 10: some kind of wire all over him. That's not even.
- 2:10:48Speaker 9: The paint's flaking off.
- 2:10:50Speaker 1: And metal, that'll heat up real fast.
- 2:10:53Speaker 12: Yes!
- 2:10:53Speaker 1: That's not good at all. Maybe it's carbon fiber.
- 2:10:55Speaker 10: I don't know what the material is. There's some kind
- 2:10:57Speaker 10: of paneling all over him and it just looks like
- 2:11:00Speaker 10: he just tied stuff onto him in the garage.
- 2:11:03Speaker 3: When we watched the trailer yesterday, my wife leaned over
- 2:11:07Speaker 3: to me in the theater and goes, who is that guy?
- 2:11:09Speaker 3: Talking about Cyborg.
- 2:11:11Speaker 9: Oh, okay.
- 2:11:12Speaker 1: And I was like, that's Cyborg.
- 2:11:14Speaker 9: And she's like, Who is that?
- 2:11:16Speaker 1: Again, I feel like that's the normal run of people.
- 2:11:19Speaker 1: I think geeks have known who he is forever. But, like, regular... Even...
- 2:11:23Speaker 1: I think the most functional thing is Teen Titans.
- 2:11:27Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 2:11:27Speaker 1: Like, the anime... But, again, not everybody watches kids' animated shows,
- 2:11:31Speaker 1: even though it's not really all that kid-friendly.
- 2:11:33Speaker 9: But, like.
- 2:11:34Speaker 3: But Teen Titans was.
- 2:11:36Speaker 1: Well, no, I was talking about the animated one, though.
- 2:11:38Speaker 1: The one that's on Cartoon Network and the one before
- 2:11:40Speaker 1: that that was on.
- 2:11:41Speaker 9: I mean, is there currently one on?
- 2:11:42Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a new one on.
- 2:11:44Speaker 10: Yeah, they're doing a TV series.
- 2:11:46Speaker 3: Because people know who The Flash is because there is
- 2:11:48Speaker 3: a TV show and people still know who he is
- 2:11:51Speaker 3: even without that sort of.
- 2:11:53Speaker 9: Aquaman's established.
- 2:11:54Speaker 3: People know who that is even if they don't recognize
- 2:11:56Speaker 3: this current version of him. Everyone knows who Wonder Woman
- 2:11:59Speaker 3: and Superman and Batman are. Nobody knows or cares who
- 2:12:03Speaker 3: Cyborg is.
- 2:12:04Speaker 1: I think that's the only thing that kind of broke
- 2:12:07Speaker 1: through was the animated show got pretty popular with kids
- 2:12:10Speaker 1: and in-betweens.
- 2:12:12Speaker 10: Teen Titans Go was really big with kids. That was
- 2:12:15Speaker 10: part of the reason why they canceled Young Justice and
- 2:12:18Speaker 10: some of the older animated stuff. They're like, oh, the
- 2:12:21Speaker 10: kids are killing it. Let's just make it silly and
- 2:12:23Speaker 10: push it to kids.
- 2:12:25Speaker 1: I feel like that's part of it right there. This
- 2:12:28Speaker 1: is kind of popular with kids. We want to bring
- 2:12:30Speaker 1: in kids. It's one of our few heroes we have
- 2:12:34Speaker 1: that we can work into this scenario, but yeah, I
- 2:12:37Speaker 1: still feel like normal average people that may or may
- 2:12:41Speaker 1: not decide to go to see this movie are not
- 2:12:43Speaker 1: going to.
- 2:12:43Speaker 3: Know who they like. Was there a cyborg live-action movie
- 2:12:46Speaker 3: several years ago, or am I just confusing that with Steel?
- 2:12:50Speaker 10: It must be Steel.
- 2:12:51Speaker 1: Because I know there was a Steel. Or you're thinking
- 2:12:53Speaker 1: of the Jean-Claude Van Damme cyborg.
- 2:12:56Speaker 3: Well, I know that exists too, but I thought there
- 2:12:58Speaker 3: was one for the character. But I know there's that
- 2:13:01Speaker 3: abomination for Steel.
- 2:13:02Speaker 1: I think they've worked him, because didn't they work him
- 2:13:03Speaker 1: in on Smallville too? They kept trying to work in
- 2:13:06Speaker 1: live action versions.
- 2:13:07Speaker 10: Smallville, I didn't get in on Smallville, but I've heard
- 2:13:08Speaker 10: a lot about it.
- 2:13:09Speaker 1: I thought he did.
- 2:13:10Speaker 8: I watched Smallville like religiously for a long time.
- 2:13:13Speaker 10: I had a co-worker when I worked at the HT
- 2:13:15Speaker 10: to tell me about all of it.
- 2:13:18Speaker 1: It just went on way too long.
- 2:13:20Speaker 8: Yeah, it was fun.
- 2:13:21Speaker 1: I think in the beginning it was a great concept.
- 2:13:23Speaker 3: In the beginning it was awesome.
- 2:13:25Speaker 1: And they really just should have graduated it up to
- 2:13:27Speaker 1: a bigger version.
- 2:13:28Speaker 7: I agree.
- 2:13:29Speaker 1: It should have been Metropolis. It should have been Superman.
- 2:13:31Speaker 10: What got me is that after it was on like
- 2:13:32Speaker 10: four or five years, I'm like, how long is he
- 2:13:34Speaker 10: going to school?
- 2:13:34Speaker 13: Right.
- 2:13:35Speaker 1: Well, and then he graduated, but he still stayed in Smallville.
- 2:13:38Speaker 1: I'm like, he's supposed to go to Metropolis. Just turn
- 2:13:41Speaker 1: the show into Metropolis.
- 2:13:41Speaker 3: And even when he did get to Metropolis, you still
- 2:13:44Speaker 3: don't see Superman. It's a show about Superman without Superman.
- 2:13:48Speaker 1: It was frustrating by the end. I'm like, just make
- 2:13:50Speaker 1: him fly for God's sake.
- 2:13:51Speaker 10: That just sounds like.
- 2:13:52Speaker 1: A seat up you've shown now.
- 2:13:55Speaker 2: Oh, Lord.
- 2:13:56Speaker 7: All right.
- 2:13:56Speaker 1: We've jumped over to the Justice League. I think we're
- 2:13:59Speaker 1: ahead an episode or.
- 2:14:01Speaker 1: Yeah. So... So Thor was awesome. Thor was awesome.
- 2:14:05Speaker 3: Oh, more trivia. Jeff Goldblum's character in the comics is blue.
- 2:14:13Speaker 3: But they decided not to make him blue for the
- 2:14:15Speaker 3: movie because of Earth Girls.
- 2:14:17Speaker 1: Another awesome movie.
- 2:14:19Speaker 9: Earth Girls are easy.
- 2:14:20Speaker 1: I love that movie.
- 2:14:21Speaker 4: Well, who doesn't?
- 2:14:23Speaker 1: Of the other 99% of people who have not seen it.
- 2:14:26Speaker 3: I feel like that was a good decision not to.
- 2:14:28Speaker 3: Because I do think.
- 2:14:29Speaker 1: I also feel like there's a lot of blue characters
- 2:14:32Speaker 1: in Marvel.
- 2:14:32Speaker 3: Well, yeah.
- 2:14:33Speaker 1: Mostly Guardians. Well, it's going to be green ones.
- 2:14:35Speaker 10: The Kree are all green.
- 2:14:36Speaker 1: Yeah. But I'm just like several of our main characters
- 2:14:40Speaker 1: in Guardians are blue. So it's like, again, they're kind
- 2:14:43Speaker 1: of getting overrun with people that are all one color anyway. Like,
- 2:14:47Speaker 1: just find another way to make them weird, you know?
- 2:14:49Speaker 1: It's like, I don't know. There's other alien things. They
- 2:14:51Speaker 1: don't all have to be like a weird color.
- 2:14:54Speaker 8: And one small thing. A little device on Thor's neck.
- 2:14:59Speaker 8: Why can he be electrocuted? If he's the God of Thunder.
- 2:15:02Speaker 10: Why doesn't he just charge up and it fizzes it?
- 2:15:04Speaker 1: Or he could just be.
- 2:15:05Speaker 10: Like, why is this holding down?
- 2:15:07Speaker 9: That is a good point that I did not think of.
- 2:15:09Speaker 9: You've just ruined.
- 2:15:10Speaker 1: Two-thirds of the movie. Well, I mean, I kind of
- 2:15:11Speaker 1: thought of like, what is the, because they didn't really
- 2:15:13Speaker 1: go in, like it was just a normal thing like
- 2:15:15Speaker 1: they use on any other prisoner. I'm like, isn't he
- 2:15:17Speaker 1: more powerful than just about anybody? Like, why is this
- 2:15:21Speaker 1: work on him?
- 2:15:21Speaker 8: It's an electronic device. It's like a garage door opener.
- 2:15:25Speaker 9: If anything, it should make him stronger.
- 2:15:26Speaker 1: It's taking out the God of Thunder.
- 2:15:29Speaker 8: I was waiting for him to not find a different
- 2:15:32Speaker 8: way to take it off, but to fucking zap it
- 2:15:35Speaker 8: or zap the controller or zap something.
- 2:15:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:15:40Speaker 1: It is an odd little minor detail that kind of
- 2:15:43Speaker 1: creates a much bigger issue.
- 2:15:44Speaker 8: A fester in my brain for all time.
- 2:15:47Speaker 3: Damn it.
- 2:15:48Speaker 10: I can't wait for it. I want to see this
- 2:15:49Speaker 10: director's cut. I can't imagine how much more nonsense.
- 2:15:53Speaker 1: Is in there.
- 2:15:54Speaker 10: When Jeff Goldblum says something about his age... And just
- 2:15:58Speaker 10: lets it hang?
- 2:15:58Speaker 1: Yeah. That was so... Again, I don't know why that
- 2:16:01Speaker 1: was so funny to me. That was classic Goldblum. When
- 2:16:03Speaker 1: he started that sentence and just let it hang and
- 2:16:05Speaker 1: it's like.
- 2:16:06Speaker 8: His little face doing weird things.
- 2:16:08Speaker 1: Well, even the stinger feels like it's just him winging it.
- 2:16:12Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 2:16:13Speaker 1: Which I don't know, did the second stinger.
- 2:16:15Speaker 10: I didn't get to see the second one because I
- 2:16:16Speaker 10: can't have a revolution without a dustbin.
- 2:16:18Speaker 1: It has no... Yeah, it has no real.
- 2:16:21Speaker 10: was it another troll stinger where it just kind.
- 2:16:23Speaker 1: Of yeah it was just like for fun for this
- 2:16:25Speaker 1: just him like getting out of the ship after all
- 2:16:28Speaker 1: that goes down and all the people are kind of
- 2:16:29Speaker 1: coming around he's like hey well you can't have a
- 2:16:32Speaker 1: revolution without somebody to overthrow so really i'm kind of
- 2:16:35Speaker 1: you know you couldn't have this without me like.
- 2:16:38Speaker 3: But he'll i feel like he'll be back in guardians
- 2:16:41Speaker 3: because feta today his character is actually the collector's brothers.
- 2:16:46Speaker 10: Yeah so him and benicio del toro yeah should have
- 2:16:50Speaker 10: so he'll because again they're the guys bringing the coins
- 2:16:52Speaker 10: together for thanos yeah to an extent obviously i guess
- 2:16:55Speaker 10: goldblum won't be as much collector definitely but i don't
- 2:16:58Speaker 10: know if What they're going to do with Goldblum's character.
- 2:17:00Speaker 3: But I would like, you know, I never am I
- 2:17:02Speaker 3: disappointed when that man shows up on screen.
- 2:17:05Speaker 1: I did double check. Unless IMDB is lying, it said
- 2:17:08Speaker 1: 80% of the dialogue was improvised in general. But I'm
- 2:17:13Speaker 1: sure almost all of that Jeff Goldblum being a goofy
- 2:17:16Speaker 1: Jeff Goldblum was just him. Just like, Jeff, just say something.
- 2:17:19Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 2:17:20Speaker 1: Try not to say must go faster. But other than that,
- 2:17:23Speaker 1: feel free to work in anything else.
- 2:17:25Speaker 8: I pardon you.
- 2:17:26Speaker 1: Life.
- 2:17:28Speaker 8: Boom.
- 2:17:29Speaker 10: Was that a Schindler's List nod? I thought that was
- 2:17:32Speaker 10: a Schindler's List nod.
- 2:17:34Speaker 1: That's an odd pull, by the way. Maybe it's just
- 2:17:37Speaker 1: my brain.
- 2:17:37Speaker 10: I vividly remember that scene where he's tricking the Nazi
- 2:17:41Speaker 10: dude into not killing. He's like, it's more powerful to
- 2:17:45Speaker 10: forgive people. And that's when he has that moment where
- 2:17:47Speaker 10: he's like, I forgive you. And he forgives a couple people.
- 2:17:49Speaker 10: So when he did that, I was like, is this
- 2:17:51Speaker 10: a nod to Schindler's List?
- 2:17:53Speaker 3: I don't know if I want it to be or don't.
- 2:17:58Speaker 3: Where do I go here?
- 2:17:59Speaker 1: Both powerful movies.
- 2:18:02Speaker 10: One a little more so.
- 2:18:03Speaker 3: Than the other.
- 2:18:04Speaker 1: Not enough Hulk in Schindler's List, I gotta say.
- 2:18:07Speaker 3: There was that good joke. I don't remember... verbatim now
- 2:18:10Speaker 3: but something about he was pulling you off.
- 2:18:14Speaker 1: Oh yeah they're really kind of like what and okay
- 2:18:16Speaker 1: is that where we're going and then they just moved
- 2:18:18Speaker 1: on to another.
- 2:18:19Speaker 3: We i laughed i laughed so hard at that and
- 2:18:22Speaker 3: was the only one in the in the theater laughing
- 2:18:25Speaker 3: at that i kind of wanted to look around and
- 2:18:26Speaker 3: be like really.
- 2:18:27Speaker 8: I don't know pulling off i don't think he was
- 2:18:30Speaker 8: pulling up the.
- 2:18:31Speaker 3: Words pulling off were in there but then they like,
- 2:18:34Speaker 3: they didn't even let it hang.
- 2:18:36Speaker 1: Like they immediately nailed another joke on top of it.
- 2:18:39Speaker 1: So you're like, but wait, did.
- 2:18:40Speaker 3: He just say, but when Thor said it the first
- 2:18:42Speaker 3: time I start, I giggled a little bit.
- 2:18:45Speaker 9: I'm like, okay, be mature.
- 2:18:46Speaker 3: And then Korg was like, wait, he was pulling you off.
- 2:18:49Speaker 3: And then that's not, I lost it.
- 2:18:52Speaker 1: I'm at the Korg level of humor.
- 2:18:56Speaker 10: Meanwhile, what TDs back there going PG PG.
- 2:19:00Speaker 3: I'm trying to think what else there is to talk
- 2:19:02Speaker 3: about that.
- 2:19:03Speaker 10: Um, i feel like i can talk about it forever
- 2:19:04Speaker 10: because it's so fragmented and yeah well that's not like
- 2:19:07Speaker 10: a long over.
- 2:19:08Speaker 3: That was a point i was going to make it
- 2:19:10Speaker 3: was kind of like watching bits of a tv series
- 2:19:14Speaker 3: or issues of a comic because you had like 35
- 2:19:18Speaker 3: minutes of a complete story that moved on to another
- 2:19:22Speaker 3: complete story that were all part of a bigger episodic.
- 2:19:24Speaker 10: Yeah yeah exactly and i think that was a good
- 2:19:27Speaker 10: way to do it it felt good it felt.
- 2:19:29Speaker 3: You didn't get bogged down with the one story too much.
- 2:19:32Speaker 10: Especially after part two, because part two was super plot heavy.
- 2:19:35Speaker 10: Because even after watching it a couple times, I was like,
- 2:19:37Speaker 10: what happened? Jane had the stone in her, but what's
- 2:19:39Speaker 10: the big red stuff? And why are we in this
- 2:19:42Speaker 10: world and this world? And it was a bit heavy.
- 2:19:45Speaker 1: It's a little convoluted. Yeah, this was a little more
- 2:19:48Speaker 1: fun and yet dark and heavy if you want to
- 2:19:52Speaker 1: find it.
- 2:19:52Speaker 14: I don't know.
- 2:19:54Speaker 10: Yeah, they shot down every sad moment.
- 2:19:57Speaker 1: Yeah, kind of.
- 2:19:58Speaker 10: Like, seriously, every time something sad happened, there was a
- 2:20:00Speaker 10: joke right afterwards. Quickly.
- 2:20:03Speaker 3: That's why about the 30-minute mark, I was like, this
- 2:20:06Speaker 3: movie is good, but kind of silly. Which, I enjoy silly,
- 2:20:11Speaker 3: but I wasn't really sure which way they were going
- 2:20:13Speaker 3: to take it for a while. And I still think
- 2:20:15Speaker 3: overall it worked, but there were times where the silliness
- 2:20:19Speaker 3: was a little distracting.
- 2:20:21Speaker 1: Yep.
- 2:20:22Speaker 3: All right.
- 2:20:24Speaker 14: Ready to Fire up Immigrant Song and get the hell
- 2:20:27Speaker 14: out of here.
- 2:20:28Speaker 1: It was like, it's not just in the trailer. When
- 2:20:30Speaker 1: they kicked in full on, not even instrumental version, just
- 2:20:34Speaker 1: the album track right in the middle of the battle.
- 2:20:36Speaker 1: I'm just like, all right. I mean, we all kind
- 2:20:38Speaker 1: of wanted this, but I.
- 2:20:41Speaker 14: Mean, it fits really well.
- 2:20:46Speaker 1: As much as the shine has gone off that band
- 2:20:48Speaker 1: as I've gotten to be not a child anymore. That
- 2:20:51Speaker 1: song still really fucking works.
- 2:20:53Speaker 3: That is a good song.
- 2:20:54Speaker 1: There's a handful of their songs that I'm like, nope,
- 2:20:56Speaker 1: you can't argue. Like, it's just a great song. Yeah.
- 2:20:58Speaker 1: There's a lot of the other stuff as time's gone on.
- 2:21:01Speaker 1: I'm like, no.
- 2:21:02Speaker 3: But. Well, you can't.
- 2:21:04Speaker 9: I mean, you know.
- 2:21:05Speaker 1: Okay.
- 2:21:06Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 2:21:06Speaker 3: You read into that one and it's okay.
- 2:21:08Speaker 9: It is about Vikings.
- 2:21:10Speaker 1: Yeah. And it is kind of. I mean, it is.
- 2:21:12Speaker 1: I enjoy the song.
- 2:21:14Speaker 9: But if you read into the lyrics too seriously, it's like, hmm.
- 2:21:18Speaker 3: It's not about hobbits, thankfully, unlike a lot.
- 2:21:20Speaker 9: Of their other stuff.
- 2:21:22Speaker 1: I would never say about that.
- 2:21:24Speaker 3: But yeah, I do feel like that was, a Thor
- 2:21:27Speaker 3: movie was a great place for, you know.
- 2:21:29Speaker 1: And one of the few times they licensed it.
- 2:21:32Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 2:21:33Speaker 1: It didn't have Cameron Crowe involved. That's another thing. As
- 2:21:35Speaker 1: we discussed in the trailer, but I'm like, that's, yeah,
- 2:21:38Speaker 1: usually there's a weird Cameron Crowe tie-in that they'll let
- 2:21:41Speaker 1: him use their music. So this is one of the
- 2:21:43Speaker 1: few times, I guess, because it was Norse gods and whatnot, but.
- 2:21:48Speaker 10: Soundtrack was really synthy. I did want to mention that earlier.
- 2:21:50Speaker 10: Let's not make a big point of it, but I
- 2:21:53Speaker 10: did think it was strange that the music was trying
- 2:21:55Speaker 10: so hard to feel 80s when it's Thor in space,
- 2:21:58Speaker 10: and I didn't feel like a time was even relevant,
- 2:22:02Speaker 10: but it was a lot of synthy music, and I
- 2:22:04Speaker 10: was like, this feels like they're trying to do the
- 2:22:06Speaker 10: Stranger Things thing with their music.
- 2:22:07Speaker 9: The 80s are really big right now.
- 2:22:09Speaker 1: I don't think it's like Thor. Between Stranger Things and It,
- 2:22:12Speaker 1: it's all about the 80s.
- 2:22:13Speaker 3: Because I saw a commercial for God only knows what product,
- 2:22:18Speaker 3: But there were a bunch of people, they had headbands
- 2:22:20Speaker 3: and sunglasses.
- 2:22:21Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 2:22:22Speaker 3: Somebody was jamming with a keytar.
- 2:22:24Speaker 10: When does 90s become nostalgic again?
- 2:22:27Speaker 1: It seems like it's been the 80s for a while.
- 2:22:29Speaker 9: It's kind of there already. I think we're getting.
- 2:22:31Speaker 10: Another 15 years.
- 2:22:32Speaker 1: It's kind of there already, I think. Like, it's already
- 2:22:35Speaker 1: gotten to that point where you can be cheesy nostalgic
- 2:22:38Speaker 1: about it. And we're seeing it, like, I think it
- 2:22:39Speaker 1: first creeps in through the internet. So we're already seeing
- 2:22:42Speaker 1: all these weird little, like, Things that only 90s kids
- 2:22:46Speaker 1: get kind of thing.
- 2:22:47Speaker 10: See, I thought Power Rangers had been part of that.
- 2:22:50Speaker 10: That's the 90s Transformers-ish kind of thing. But it didn't
- 2:22:54Speaker 10: really happen.
- 2:22:55Speaker 1: I think we're there. I think it just hasn't hit
- 2:22:57Speaker 1: that level yet. Yeah, it hasn't hit its apex. But
- 2:23:00Speaker 1: it's almost there. It's pretty damn close.
- 2:23:04Speaker 9: So when does now become current?
- 2:23:06Speaker 3: 30, 40 years. Because I don't really like now.
- 2:23:12Speaker 1: But later... I don't want to relive the 80s. Later
- 2:23:15Speaker 1: you'll be looking back and you'll be like.
- 2:23:17Speaker 3: I remember the 70s. Best thing about the 80s was
- 2:23:22Speaker 3: Weird Al, and that's because he was making fun of
- 2:23:24Speaker 3: the 80s while they were happening.
- 2:23:27Speaker 1: Well, he hasn't gone anywhere. Otherwise, that about does it.
- 2:23:31Speaker 1: We will return in another super series in the very
- 2:23:34Speaker 1: near future, I'm guessing, but If not, we got Black Panther. Otherwise,
- 2:23:42Speaker 1: we will return next time. Same Geek Feed. Thanks for listening.
- 2:23:45Speaker 3: Bye, everybody.
- 2:23:50Speaker 7: The hammer of the gods We'll drive our ships to
- 2:24:08Speaker 7: new lands To fight the horde Singing and crying For
- 2:24:17Speaker 7: Hala I.
- 2:24:18Speaker 2: Am coming.
- 2:24:25Speaker 7: On me sweet Threshing o'er All we go will be
- 2:24:32Speaker 7: the western shore We come from a land of the
- 2:24:45Speaker 7: ice and snow From the midnight sun where the hot
- 2:24:48Speaker 7: springs blow How soft you feel so green Can whisper tales.
- 2:24:55Speaker 12: Of gold.
- 2:24:58Speaker 7: Of how we calmed the dyes of war We are
- 2:25:05Speaker 7: your overlords Only sweet, fresh and more Only gold will
- 2:25:20Speaker 7: be the western shore So now you better start And
- 2:25:32Speaker 7: rebuild all your ruins Decent your skin win the day
- 2:25:41Speaker 7: despite of all your losing.
- 2:25:55Speaker 10: If the audience comes together. And these days, the audience
- 2:25:58Speaker 10: don't come together. I've had times where audiences really came
- 2:26:00Speaker 10: together and made the movie fun.
- 2:26:02Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 2:26:02Speaker 10: But that rarely happens now.
- 2:26:05Speaker 8: Most times they're ruining it for me now.
- 2:26:07Speaker 3: Right.
- 2:26:07Speaker 8: I swear to God, the bad behavior in the theater
- 2:26:10Speaker 8: has been on the rise. And I swear to God,
- 2:26:13Speaker 8: I always get the person.
- 2:26:14Speaker 4: Right behind me.
- 2:26:16Speaker 8: I don't know how it happens. It's every single time now.
- 2:26:19Speaker 4: It's like.
- 2:26:20Speaker 8: Just like there's this one guy at Baxter that finds me,
- 2:26:23Speaker 8: I swear to God. It's the same guy. He always
- 2:26:25Speaker 8: comes home with this big bucket of popcorn and he's
- 2:26:28Speaker 8: got this big beard and this shaggy hair and he
- 2:26:31Speaker 8: sits right behind me. And the way he breathes and
- 2:26:34Speaker 8: he makes these sounds through the whole movie. He makes
- 2:26:38Speaker 8: these god awful demon sounds the whole movie. He's chewing
- 2:26:44Speaker 8: with his mouth open. He's snorting. He's grunting. And I'm
- 2:26:47Speaker 8: just like, I mean, I move, but.
- 2:26:50Speaker 1: You move closer to him. But I pick my spots
- 2:26:53Speaker 1: very carefully.
