Speaker 1: Well, lu Terminelo, I have to say one log of
• 0:04
Speaker 1: Alex Media is a bit of a wind strenk here
• 0:06
Speaker 1: because on Saturday, someone I met earlier this year, Josh
• 0:10
  Speaker 1: Hart and.
• 0:11
Speaker 2: The Knicks win their first NBA title.
• 0:15
Speaker 1: In fifty three years, which we both saw coming from
• 0:17
  Speaker 1: a mile away.
• 0:20
Speaker 2: Yes we did, Alex, thanks for having me.
• 0:22
Speaker 1: But the next night, another New York product, if you will,
• 0:26
Speaker 1: even though he's in Carolina now. One last night Caandre
• 0:29
Speaker 1: Miller with the Hurricane, and I got to meet him
• 0:32
Speaker 1: in twenty twenty four.
• 0:33
  Speaker 2: So I feel like I'm on a bit of a.
• 0:34
Speaker 1: Wind strenk here the last two nights knowing these guys
• 0:37
Speaker 1: and seeing them win.
• 0:39
Speaker 3: Well, like when you said a New York product, I
• 0:41
Speaker 3: thought you were going to say Brandon Bussy because he's
• 0:44
Speaker 3: from uh, he's from Long Island.
• 0:47
Speaker 2: He lives in Nassall County, So that's what I thought.
• 0:49
Speaker 2: I feel he's going with and he was. He was
• 0:53
Speaker 2: sent down to Carolina and sorry after what was it
• 0:57
  Speaker 2: out to Vegas?
• 0:58
Speaker 1: Right and pretty special that he got to win and
• 1:02
Speaker 1: the whole family was there too.
• 1:04
Speaker 2: Yes, it was. You know, he did a good job.
• 1:06
Speaker 2: He was thirty one and six and.
• 1:08
Speaker 3: Won during the regular season. But let's and then you
• 1:12
Speaker 3: know came in at the end of the last three
• 1:14
Speaker 3: games when Frederick Anderson was a little tired and a
• 1:18
Speaker 3: little Nick Dupp Carolina is not telling you what really
• 1:22
  Speaker 3: happened to him.
• 1:23
Speaker 2: But let's let's talk about Let's talk about the big
• 1:27
Speaker 2: the big event in New York City over this weekend,
• 1:30
  Speaker 2: the NIXT.
• 1:30
Speaker 3: Winning their third NBA Championship, first in fifty three years, and.
• 1:41
Speaker 2: A well deserved win. Obviously, they've been elevated to.
• 1:47
Speaker 3: Superstar status with led by mister Brunson, who is a
• 1:52
  Speaker 3: true superstar. I mean, he's fearless, he's a leader, he's
• 1:58
Speaker 3: amazing clutch player, He's one of the greatest thinks of
• 2:01
Speaker 3: all time. Already he is he's already a Hall of
• 2:06
Speaker 3: Famer because remembering the Hall of Fame, it's not the
• 2:08
Speaker 3: NBA Hall of Fame, it's the Basketball Hall of Fame.
• 2:11
Speaker 3: And he combined his Villanova career with his winning the
• 2:15
  Speaker 3: NBA Championship.
• 2:16
  Speaker 2: And winning MVP.
• 2:19
Speaker 3: He's he's at the top of the mountain right now.
• 2:23
Speaker 2: He is the number one star in New York. I
• 2:24
Speaker 2: think he might be a head of judge.
• 2:26
Speaker 3: In Soto And we know baseball is the most popular
• 2:29
Speaker 3: sport in New York.
• 2:30
Speaker 2: But this has taken this has taken him to.
• 2:37
Speaker 3: The highest of levels of of athletes in his in
• 2:39
  Speaker 3: his league.
• 2:40
Speaker 2: And in the New York metropolitan area.
• 2:44
Speaker 1: Wired one guy say he's not in the league of
• 2:47
Speaker 1: Manning or Juter yet, and I want to disagree with that.
• 2:49
  Speaker 1: I think I think he's in the league. He's in
• 2:52
Speaker 1: the legendary stature because A it's an accomplishment that has
• 2:57
Speaker 1: been doing in fifty three years. B. He know he
• 3:00
Speaker 1: carried the team on his back and he was he
• 3:04
Speaker 1: proved his captain c W this series.
• 3:07
Speaker 3: Well, I Manning is always tough to know.
• 3:13
  Speaker 2: It's not about.
• 3:13
Speaker 3: Manning, but Maning is always tough to grade. Brunson, in
• 3:17
Speaker 3: my opinion, is greater than Manning. I mean, Brunson's great
• 3:22
Speaker 3: in a regular season. It's a travesty that Jalen Brunson
• 3:27
Speaker 3: these last two years has not been.
• 3:29
Speaker 2: Named to the first All NBA team. It's it's to me,
• 3:34
  Speaker 2: it's a total head scratcher. He's not.
• 3:36
Speaker 3: He's not in Jesus class yet. Jeter is one of
• 3:39
Speaker 3: the old Jesus class. Is you know, super Blue Chipper.
• 3:43
Speaker 3: I mean really, but again, I don't want to put
• 3:47
Speaker 3: myself on the back. But when everybody was saying before
• 3:49
Speaker 3: the series began that the Victor webin Yama was the
• 3:52
Speaker 3: best player in the series, what did I say.
• 3:55
Speaker 2: Alex, You said, he's too young, basically, and.
• 3:59
Speaker 3: Well, who I say it was the best player in
• 4:01
Speaker 3: the series. Going into the series, I said Jalen had
• 4:07
Speaker 3: had the best the Knicks had the best player, and
• 4:10
Speaker 3: I thought the Knicks would win. I thought, I thought
• 4:13
Speaker 3: the Spurs would win at least two games.
• 4:16
Speaker 2: But even you look at at Saturday's game. Brunton is
• 4:19
Speaker 2: so great that he covered up a.
• 4:21
Speaker 3: Lot of Knicks deficiencies in Game five.
• 4:24
Speaker 2: The Knicks did not play great in Game five, and as.
• 4:27
Speaker 3: You said early on, he carried him on his back.
• 4:30
Speaker 3: And uh, already in his brief Knick career. He's one
• 4:35
Speaker 3: of the greatest things of all time. And remember the Knicks.
• 4:40
Speaker 3: The Knicks trail for seventy.
• 4:44
Speaker 2: Of the series. Of the of the total series, they
• 4:47
Speaker 2: only let twenty seven percent of the time seven and
• 4:49
Speaker 2: a half percent. There was only three quarters the Spurs
• 4:52
Speaker 2: would have won this thing. But you know, by the
• 4:54
  Speaker 2: fourth quarter.
• 4:55
Speaker 1: I'll talk about the stories you talk about great talk
• 5:00
  Speaker 1: about perseverance.
• 5:02
Speaker 2: I feel like Mike Brown taught that way better than
• 5:05
  Speaker 2: Thipeau did.
• 5:05
Speaker 1: I don't know how he did it, but he kept
• 5:08
Speaker 1: these guys perseverance through twenty seven point deficit. That's very
• 5:13
  Speaker 1: tough to do.
• 5:15
Speaker 2: Yes, that's very tough to do.
• 5:17
Speaker 3: But they were helped by some of the As Charles
• 5:21
Speaker 3: Blockley said, some of the dumbest basketball by.
• 5:24
Speaker 2: San Antonio Spurs sold Well.
• 5:26
Speaker 1: I don't know if it was like this because I
• 5:28
Speaker 1: was traveling on Game four. I did see the tipping though,
• 5:30
Speaker 1: But what I what I was thinking is what a
• 5:35
Speaker 1: basketball mind Jalen Bruston has. He knows they were going
• 5:38
Speaker 1: to be aggressive, so he puts himself at the line
• 5:41
Speaker 1: by making them bump into him.
• 5:42
Speaker 2: It was really a genius move.
• 5:44
Speaker 1: And those six shots, I know, I think he made
• 5:46
Speaker 1: five of them save the Knicks that night because it
• 5:51
  Speaker 1: got them.
• 5:51
Speaker 2: Closer and they would miss at the other end as well.
• 5:53
Speaker 1: I mean, but that basketball mind to draw the foul
• 5:56
Speaker 1: most times also puts them in his own climate class basketball.
• 6:02
Speaker 2: Yeah, that was But to me, that was just a
• 6:03
Speaker 2: dumb play by Wemby.
• 6:05
Speaker 3: Uh you know that was that should have that that
• 6:07
Speaker 3: and that was dumb played by Wemby dunbplay a dumb
• 6:11
Speaker 3: decision by Mitch Johnson not calling the time out, who
• 6:14
Speaker 3: he coached a horrible series Brown now coached.
• 6:17
Speaker 2: Him by a mile. Yes, this is this is vindication
• 6:21
  Speaker 2: from from.
• 6:22
Speaker 3: Mike Brown, who wasn't the next, first, second, or third choice.
• 6:25
Speaker 2: You know, they talked about Jason.
• 6:26
Speaker 3: Kidd, they took about Billy Ver, Donovan uh coming in.
• 6:30
Speaker 2: Uh, they even talked about Udoka, the Houston coach. But yeah,
• 6:34
Speaker 2: it doesn't matter now.
• 6:35
Speaker 3: He's the coach of the UH twenty five, twenty six
• 6:40
Speaker 3: NBA champions and he did he did a fine job.
• 6:42
Speaker 1: I think the Knicks were not even gonna be anywhere
• 6:46
Speaker 1: close to contending with a new coach like this.
• 6:47
Speaker 2: That's how much of a doubt a lot of people had.
• 6:51
Speaker 2: I disagree with that.
• 6:52
Speaker 3: I thought the Nicks were gonna be the one seed
• 6:54
Speaker 3: in the regular season. But they poop pooed through the
• 6:56
Speaker 3: regular season and uh, they from Game four, you know,
• 7:02
Speaker 3: they won fifteen out of sixteen games, and you know
• 7:04
Speaker 3: there was sixteen and three in the playoffs, which is spectacular.
• 7:09
Speaker 3: I don't care who they were playing, and this is
• 7:11
Speaker 3: a well deserved championship.
• 7:13
Speaker 1: Now, I know, I've a point to the twenty two
• 7:16
Speaker 1: point comeback against the Cavs, the twenty seven point comeback
• 7:20
Speaker 1: against the Spurs. But what about that Game three in
• 7:24
Speaker 1: Atlanta when they were up by like seventy something at
• 7:27
  Speaker 1: the half.
• 7:27
Speaker 2: I mean you kind of out they were turning a
• 7:29
  Speaker 2: corner that.
• 7:30
Speaker 1: They weren't gonna let the Hawks dominate anymore, and they
• 7:33
Speaker 1: took over after that.
• 7:36
Speaker 3: Yes, looking back, it's hard to believe that they didn't
• 7:38
Speaker 3: beat the Hawks in fourth.
• 7:39
Speaker 2: Straight the way they went on that role. But yeah, no,
• 7:44
Speaker 2: I mean, they weren't going to lose the Hawks.
• 7:46
Speaker 3: The Hawks were not a legitimate playoff team, and it's
• 7:50
Speaker 3: hard to believe that they were down two games to one.
• 7:52
Speaker 2: But you know, they took off after that and they
• 7:55
Speaker 2: didn't win. They killed everybody.
• 7:57
Speaker 3: I mean, this Spurs series was close as far as
• 8:00
  Speaker 3: on the game.
• 8:00
Speaker 1: You know, it must be not Game five when they
• 8:02
Speaker 1: went up seventy something.
• 8:03
Speaker 2: I think that's what it was.
• 8:04
Speaker 3: Game it was Game five, You're right, it was Game five.
• 8:09
Speaker 3: But in Game one, three and five, the Knicks in
• 8:12
Speaker 3: finals history, in Game one, three and five, half the three.
• 8:16
Speaker 2: Of the four biggest comebacks happened in his finals by
• 8:19
Speaker 2: the Knicks, and you know he never gave up. And
• 8:24
  Speaker 2: the other thing.
• 8:25
Speaker 3: Is we said again that this is that we want
• 8:28
Speaker 3: to talk about the Knicks, not the Spurs.
• 8:29
Speaker 2: But when they're going, got tough. The tough. The Spurs
• 8:35
Speaker 2: were not tough. They were I'm sorry.
• 8:37
Speaker 1: I want to make this a comparison to look at
• 8:38
Speaker 1: Golden Tempo, who was behind both races in the Kentucky
• 8:42
Speaker 1: and the Stakes, and he ends up winning both of them.
• 8:45
Speaker 1: So you know, he can't he can't count anybody out
• 8:48
Speaker 1: when they're down that bar. I mean, he was back
• 8:50
Speaker 1: in the pack of those two races and he won it.
• 8:53
Speaker 1: So it's sort of similar if you think about it.
• 8:56
Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess being back in the pack and being
• 8:58
Speaker 3: down eighty one fifty two, nine twenty seven and go
• 9:01
Speaker 3: in the third quart is similar.
• 9:03
Speaker 2: And you know they when you when you.
• 9:07
Speaker 3: Come back, you have to get helped by a team
• 9:10
  Speaker 3: that's ahead.
• 9:11
Speaker 1: And that's what look And I noticed the Spurs, and
• 9:14
Speaker 1: I think I noticed this in Game four, specifically in
• 9:19
  Speaker 1: the third quarter.
• 9:20
Speaker 2: They were making some really odd shots that just were missing.
• 9:23
Speaker 2: That's the problem. They were making these for them. They
• 9:25
Speaker 2: were making these very odd shots.
• 9:27
Speaker 1: They weren't hitting the riymneyment at times as like, boy,
• 9:30
Speaker 1: they're losing energy. And look at some of these teams
• 9:34
Speaker 1: seem to have exerted their energy by taking that much
• 9:37
Speaker 1: of a lead. But they, as I say, they were
• 9:39
Speaker 1: not endured enough to take it to the finish line
• 9:42
Speaker 1: most of those games.
• 9:43
Speaker 2: And I'm talking about the Cavaliers also, ye, well yeah,
• 9:48
Speaker 2: but the Spurs just weren't ready. They weren't good enough.
• 9:50
Speaker 2: I remember the Spurs won sixty two games this year.
• 9:54
Speaker 2: Last year they won thirty four. That's plus twenty eight.
• 9:58
  Speaker 3: That's a huge They weren't a lottery last year.
• 10:02
Speaker 2: Two years ago they were twenty two and sixty. Three
• 10:05
Speaker 2: years ago they were twenty two and sixty.
• 10:07
Speaker 3: So when you look at it from that uh prospect,
• 10:15
Speaker 3: despite the fact that they lost, and they're gonna look
• 10:18
Speaker 3: at the they're gonna look at the film and say,
• 10:19
Speaker 3: oh my god, this is a series that was.
• 10:21
Speaker 2: Very winnable, which it was. It's really an incredible step
• 10:26
  Speaker 2: for the Spurs.
• 10:26
Speaker 3: But I'm gonna say another thing, there's no guarantee here.
• 10:29
Speaker 3: So Wemby and they're so talented, they're young and talented,
• 10:32
Speaker 3: there's no guarantee that they're going to be back, and
• 10:35
Speaker 3: Wenby has to get much better.
• 10:37
Speaker 2: He's got to get more mature as a person off
• 10:41
Speaker 2: the court. And and I don't mean in his personal life.
• 10:45
Speaker 3: I mean how he handles the media walking, you know,
• 10:48
Speaker 3: just not the way he handles himself.
• 10:50
Speaker 2: Oh my god, it was, you know, with the media
• 10:53
Speaker 2: to throw throwing the mic down. You know, he's he's
• 10:57
  Speaker 2: got to get.
• 10:57
Speaker 3: More more mature, all right, Harbardville an offensive game on
• 11:01
  Speaker 3: a court exactly.
• 11:02
Speaker 1: I was with a friend of mine, we were driving
• 11:04
Speaker 1: around yesterday and I told her, you know, also helped
• 11:07
  Speaker 1: this team out.
• 11:08
Speaker 2: A guy that traded.
• 11:09
Speaker 1: Luka Duncic to the Lakers also let Jalen Brunson go.
• 11:13
Speaker 2: So thank you Nico Harrison for Jalen Brunson.
• 11:17
Speaker 3: Well, I mean, can you believe that Dallas had both
• 11:22
Speaker 3: Brunson and Donkic and now that they haven't either. Now again,
• 11:27
Speaker 3: and it's been said a thousand times, nobody knew that
• 11:31
Speaker 3: Brunson was going to develop into the superstar.
• 11:35
  Speaker 1: That he is.
• 11:36
Speaker 2: I always thought, oh, yeah, it was a good pick up,
• 11:38
Speaker 2: you know, big pick up. He'll be solid. Uh And
• 11:41
Speaker 2: but he's he's a good, a good player that he can.
• 11:49
Speaker 1: He wouldn't have good gotten him, you know, so obviously
• 11:51
Speaker 1: there was some But to me, he's he's he's.
• 11:55
Speaker 3: Obviously he's much better than he's much better now and
• 12:00
Speaker 3: he did when the Knicks first got him.
• 12:01
Speaker 2: Maybe that they carried Seaton Hall.
• 12:04
Speaker 1: And I'm pretty sure we carried Jalen Brunson's games when
• 12:08
Speaker 1: they played Seaton Hall in Saint John's.
• 12:10
Speaker 2: I might be wrong on that, Louis, but we did.
• 12:12
Speaker 2: We did yep. So you know, we there's a big
• 12:16
Speaker 2: history with the Garden and Brunson, and nobody saw it.
• 12:21
Speaker 2: He was in the Big East. Nobody thought he was
• 12:23
Speaker 2: gonna be what he is today. He's a superstar. He's
• 12:27
  Speaker 2: a he's a superstar.
• 12:28
Speaker 1: But you know it about him and I saw him
• 12:29
Speaker 1: walk into the Today Show earlier today.
• 12:32
Speaker 2: Uh, he's a very humble guy.
• 12:34
Speaker 1: Like he just he carries himself in a way that's
• 12:36
Speaker 1: not braggadocious, that's not flashy.
• 12:39
Speaker 2: Even he's just he's Jalen Brunson. It seems like he's
• 12:42
Speaker 2: not a flashy guy. Well, I think that.
• 12:44
Speaker 3: Nicks as a whole are a very likable team.
• 12:47
  Speaker 2: They're very they have a they're a team of a
• 12:49
  Speaker 2: likable players.
• 12:52
Speaker 1: You know, here here's one thing I'd like to see,
• 12:56
Speaker 1: and I know I kept saying during the postseason run Okay,
• 12:59
Speaker 1: it's in the place.
• 13:00
Speaker 2: They didn't have to play Boston.
• 13:03
Speaker 1: The Cavs won, but anyway, there was a pathway for
• 13:08
  Speaker 1: the Knicks.
• 13:09
Speaker 2: That just looks better for them.
• 13:11
Speaker 1: But I would love to see this team take on
• 13:13
Speaker 1: the Celtics because look, when the Knicks played the Celtics,
• 13:17
Speaker 1: I think Og got hurt in the postseason and that
• 13:20
  Speaker 1: was just bad.
• 13:21
Speaker 2: It was when OG's not healthy that makes a difference.
• 13:25
Speaker 1: I want to see this Knicks team, fully healthy, take
• 13:28
Speaker 1: on the Celtics in the.
• 13:29
Speaker 2: Postseason and beat them.
• 13:30
Speaker 1: That That is one thing I'd like to see, uh
• 13:32
Speaker 1: next season. It's right up there with seeing the USB Canada,
• 13:36
Speaker 1: which I already did in hockey. Uh, the Bills beat
• 13:39
Speaker 1: the Chiefs, and the Yanks beat the SS and the Alcs,
• 13:42
  Speaker 1: that's all.
• 13:42
Speaker 2: Those are all things I hope to see one day,
• 13:45
Speaker 2: but because as not this year.
• 13:49
Speaker 1: But the point is those are matchups I want to
• 13:51
Speaker 1: see in the postseason because I think the Knicks would
• 13:53
Speaker 1: really do well against Boston.
• 13:56
Speaker 3: We don't know what we don't know what roster is
• 13:58
Speaker 3: going to look like, even next year.
• 14:00
Speaker 2: Actually if uh you know, I heard that.
• 14:02
  Speaker 3: There's a it was a crazy rumor that I don't
• 14:04
Speaker 3: know if it's so crazy, but on Friday night that
• 14:06
Speaker 3: Giannis was going to go to the Celtics before draft.
• 14:11
Speaker 1: Coming to the Knicks. I'm hearing that too. So I
• 14:13
Speaker 1: don't know what Durant supposedly might.
• 14:16
Speaker 2: Be coming to the Knicks.
• 14:17
  Speaker 3: I don't know exactly, but I don't know how the
• 14:20
Speaker 3: how the team with like the Knicks with the second
• 14:22
Speaker 3: highest payroll uh in the n B A uh.
• 14:26
Speaker 2: So they're gonna keep.
• 14:27
Speaker 1: A lot of these guys in the next season. I mean,
• 14:29
Speaker 1: they're gonna keep Towns, they're gonna keep hard, they're gonna
• 14:31
Speaker 1: keep brunts, and they're gonna keep.
• 14:33
Speaker 2: Why would they? Why would they? Why would they?
• 14:35
Speaker 1: There's gotta be some odd man out in free agency now,
• 14:38
Speaker 1: I mean, could Robinson come back?
• 14:39
Speaker 2: I guess they're gonna try and get him back.
• 14:43
Speaker 3: I don't I don't see any big moves by the Necks.
• 14:46
  Speaker 2: I really don't. I mean why why Uh, I don't
• 14:50
  Speaker 2: think they.
• 14:50
Speaker 1: Need If they if they keep this core, I think
• 14:53
  Speaker 1: they can repeat.
• 14:54
Speaker 2: Like I don't know yet, We'll have to see.
• 14:55
  Speaker 3: But yeah, Mitchell Robinson's a free agent. He'll get he'll
• 14:59
Speaker 3: get money. But again I think he might.
• 15:02
Speaker 2: I mean, first of all, the guy, the guy is
• 15:05
Speaker 2: just a terrible free throw shooter. Oh my god. You know,
• 15:10
Speaker 2: he's a liability on the court.
• 15:12
Speaker 1: And he's also Pinky was hurting him a lot, and
• 15:14
Speaker 1: you could tell because there was that one play he
• 15:16
Speaker 1: missed a duncan. I'm like, oh, that's the Pinky acting
• 15:19
Speaker 1: up right there. But you know, look, this team pieces together.
• 15:22
Speaker 1: I was hoping to see Tyler koleg Moore because he
• 15:25
Speaker 1: was a big part of the regular season. But at
• 15:27
Speaker 1: the same time, the Knicks bench, although Mike bring Hip
• 15:31
Speaker 1: harpy on it, only three points from that bench late
• 15:34
Speaker 1: in the third quarter. Then they finally came alive with
• 15:37
Speaker 1: the Clarksons of the Shabbits. So I mean, uh, it
• 15:41
Speaker 1: just proves the bench was there the whole way through
• 15:43
  Speaker 1: for this team.
• 15:45
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 15:45
Speaker 3: Well, McBride had a poor player, a poor final a
• 15:51
Speaker 3: Shanit wasn't as good in the finals.
• 15:53
Speaker 2: As he was in the other other series. And that's
• 15:57
Speaker 2: what makes Brunson more so great.
• 16:03
Speaker 3: His performance now going in to Game five, Ognnobi, who
• 16:09
Speaker 3: had been had been magnificent throughout the whole playoffs and
• 16:12
Speaker 3: even more magnificent during the finals. Was the leaning candidate
• 16:16
Speaker 3: for Most Valuable Player in the finals, but after that
• 16:20
Speaker 3: for one for the age's final game by Brunson, he
• 16:25
Speaker 3: was the I'm sure he was unanimous. No, he was.
• 16:28
Speaker 2: I think I read that he was. All eleven members
• 16:30
Speaker 2: of the voting got him that MVP, but I ten.
• 16:34
Speaker 2: And that's the trip.
• 16:36
Speaker 1: There were a couple of factors that led to that.
• 16:38
Speaker 1: He saw the bench wasn't helping him. He saw he
• 16:40
Speaker 1: wasn't getting a lot of help from anyone else, so
• 16:42
  Speaker 1: he took.
• 16:42
  Speaker 2: It on himself.
• 16:43
Speaker 1: But then he also saw he also saw the refs
• 16:46
Speaker 1: may not have been giving a favorable call, so he
• 16:48
Speaker 1: took it upon himself to get.
• 16:50
Speaker 2: The calls himself and the fouls himself. And it was
• 16:54
Speaker 2: just it was a brilliant.
• 16:56
Speaker 1: Basketball strategy he had that got him forty five points.
• 17:00
Speaker 1: But you mentioned og he's got to make two free throw.
• 17:03
Speaker 1: At least one of those free throws he does. I
• 17:06
Speaker 1: think that's still a clutch free throw, and that helped
• 17:08
Speaker 1: him win the game. And at ninety four ninety so.
• 17:11
Speaker 2: That was a clutch free throw, absolutely. But no, this was.
• 17:16
Speaker 1: On the other side, it's like Wemby's this big and
• 17:19
Speaker 1: tries to be this big character, but when it comes
• 17:20
Speaker 1: down to it, I think he had a couple of.
• 17:22
Speaker 2: Turnovers the other night as well. I mean, he did
• 17:24
Speaker 2: give the ball up a couple of times. So it's
• 17:26
Speaker 2: you know, I don't think he had a good series.
• 17:27
Speaker 3: I don't care what the numbers say. But again, this
• 17:30
Speaker 3: is his third year. Like I said, they were a
• 17:32
Speaker 3: lottery team last year. They were in his first year,
• 17:35
Speaker 3: they won twenty two games. Now, so again they weren't
• 17:39
Speaker 3: enough for the moment. They really shriveled up in all four.
• 17:45
Speaker 2: But also I think the.
• 17:45
Speaker 1: Knicks could have been Okay, see I'm convinced of that
• 17:48
  Speaker 1: after Washington.
• 17:49
Speaker 2: Well, yeah, we said that. I don't think that if
• 17:52
Speaker 2: they were healthy, I don't think they would. But again,
• 17:54
Speaker 2: it will never know.
• 17:55
Speaker 3: It doesn't matter the nixt to the champions, it doesn't matter.
• 18:00
Speaker 2: And they had a funny pathway to this.
• 18:01
Speaker 1: I mean, they really had everything lined up for them
• 18:04
Speaker 1: and the shots were just everything just bounced their way
• 18:08
  Speaker 1: literally this year.
• 18:09
Speaker 3: So yeah, no, they they and then you know they
• 18:12
Speaker 3: were so so during the regular season.
• 18:14
Speaker 1: And they again they had to get you one spoon
• 18:18
Speaker 1: where it was win five, lose five, and then they
• 18:21
Speaker 1: finally got on a few game win streak there. I
• 18:22
Speaker 1: think it was a ten game win streak or something
• 18:24
Speaker 1: like that. I mean, that was a rough January. I
• 18:27
Speaker 1: didn't know if they'd be able to recover. They did
• 18:29
Speaker 1: for the most part, and now they're champions.
• 18:32
  Speaker 2: So yeah, it.
• 18:35
Speaker 3: Goes to show you again the difference between the NBA
• 18:39
  Speaker 3: regular season and.
• 18:41
Speaker 1: I want to I want to make this comment here
• 18:43
Speaker 1: at one leg of Alex media the perform the disaster
• 18:46
Speaker 1: you saw after the game in New York City with
• 18:50
Speaker 1: buses torched and fireworks going off outside of the garden.
• 18:55
Speaker 1: Those weren't the Nick fans that that that that were
• 18:58
Speaker 1: doing that. I think there were a real agitators that
• 19:01
Speaker 1: were brought in to infiltrate.
• 19:03
Speaker 2: I don't think the real Knick fans would be that idiotic.
• 19:06
  Speaker 2: I really don't know, Alex.
• 19:07
Speaker 3: I totally disagree with you. They weren't paid agitators. They
• 19:12
Speaker 3: were I thought this wasn't a political situation. There was
• 19:18
Speaker 3: no political reason for them to run those buses.
• 19:23
Speaker 2: These are rabble rousers, These are hooligans.
• 19:26
Speaker 3: They may not be basketball fans, they may not be
• 19:28
  Speaker 3: Knicks fans.
• 19:29
  Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying.
• 19:30
  Speaker 3: They're not.
• 19:30
Speaker 1: They're not the average Nick fan, is what I'm trying
• 19:33
  Speaker 1: to say.
• 19:33
Speaker 2: Well, again, I hope.
• 19:36
Speaker 3: Not, because, as I said to you, New York always
• 19:39
Speaker 3: when they won a championship, was they always the korum
• 19:44
  Speaker 3: was always there.
• 19:45
Speaker 2: They never caused any kind of destruction.
• 19:49
Speaker 3: But sixty three arrests on Saturday night alone, kid got
• 19:53
Speaker 3: shot in the foot those buses, and those buses were
• 19:57
Speaker 3: used for people coming into the you know, coming to
• 20:00
Speaker 3: the Portoria, and then they were taken into two World
• 20:03
Speaker 3: Cup games at Medlife Stadium.
• 20:05
Speaker 2: I mean that was terrible, and you know.
• 20:06
Speaker 1: Whatever, however it shook out, I think it's going to
• 20:10
Speaker 1: affect the way the parade is done on Thursday.
• 20:12
Speaker 2: I don't think it's going to be everybody for the public.
• 20:15
Speaker 2: I just don't know how you can do that.
• 20:18
Speaker 1: They might have tickets for it, you know, it might
• 20:20
Speaker 1: be that kind of security.
• 20:22
Speaker 2: So yeah, I don't think. I don't. The first of all,
• 20:24
Speaker 2: the parade's going to be mungous.
• 20:26
Speaker 3: This might be the most people ever at a championship parade.
• 20:31
Speaker 3: And you know, for a long time New York did
• 20:33
Speaker 3: not have they stopped them.
• 20:35
Speaker 2: They stopped championship parades.
• 20:37
Speaker 3: The Knicks one they won in seventy and seventy three,
• 20:39
Speaker 3: there was no championship parade. When the Jets won in
• 20:42
Speaker 3: sixty nine, they had a big, a big celebration at
• 20:48
Speaker 3: City Hall, but there was no there was no ticket
• 20:51
Speaker 3: tape parade. Now, the weird thing is the Jets won
• 20:54
Speaker 3: in January of sixty nine, the Mets won in October
• 20:58
Speaker 3: of sixty nine, the Knicks won in May of seventy.
• 21:01
Speaker 2: But the only one of those three teas and you
• 21:03
Speaker 2: have to do some research on it. I don't mean you,
• 21:06
Speaker 2: I mean the universal me whoever Met's were the only
• 21:11
Speaker 2: one to have a parade down a canyon of heroes,
• 21:14
Speaker 2: and they did it and the James didn't, which is
• 21:18
  Speaker 2: really strange.
• 21:19
Speaker 3: And then you know, and then the Rangers had one
• 21:25
Speaker 3: in ninety four. The Giants first two Super Bowls in
• 21:28
Speaker 3: eighty six and ninety they didn't have one. They didn't
• 21:31
Speaker 3: do anything in New York because the New York said, hey,
• 21:35
Speaker 3: you're not playing in New York anymore. And then I
• 21:38
Speaker 3: believe when they beat the Patriots, I believe American Express
• 21:44
Speaker 3: or somebody aid for the parade. And then when they
• 21:48
Speaker 3: won in twenty twelve they had the parade again.
• 21:51
Speaker 2: But for a long time there were were there were
• 21:53
  Speaker 2: no parades.
• 21:54
Speaker 3: So but I think this one's going to be among us, Alex,
• 21:57
Speaker 3: I think this is going to be the most attended
• 22:00
Speaker 3: whenever they if they can give you an accurate count,
• 22:06
Speaker 3: I think this is.
• 22:06
Speaker 2: Gonna be the most. This is gonna be among us.
• 22:10
Speaker 2: It's gonna be insane, I know that much. Betimes, it's
• 22:14
Speaker 2: gonna be insane. Absolutely.
• 22:15
Speaker 1: And you know, we moved down here in twenty thirteen
• 22:20
Speaker 1: half height, and we have waited twelve and a half years, Looly,
• 22:24
Speaker 1: twelve and a half years Bray, one of the four
• 22:27
Speaker 1: majors to come through and actually win a championship.
• 22:32
Speaker 2: And here we are.
• 22:33
Speaker 1: Here we are because we had just missed the eleven
• 22:35
Speaker 1: twelve window with the Giants.
• 22:38
Speaker 2: And then there was nothing.
• 22:39
Speaker 1: The Rangers, that we all know, fourteen was a rough
• 22:42
Speaker 1: series for them, the Mets of fifteen. They could have
• 22:47
Speaker 1: but it just inn fought because the Royals were on
• 22:49
Speaker 1: a hot streak going into that.
• 22:51
Speaker 2: Yes, yes, the Royals. That was the second straight World Series.
• 22:57
Speaker 2: It was their time. It was the Royals time.
• 22:59
Speaker 1: And then and then you had well nothing until twenty four, right,
• 23:03
Speaker 1: so that was when they Yanks hit the World Series.
• 23:06
Speaker 1: That didn't happen, But of course in the interim you
• 23:08
Speaker 1: had the women's national soccer team make their way down
• 23:11
Speaker 1: Broadway and then you had the Liberty. So that was
• 23:14
Speaker 1: pretty cool to see the Liberty get their moment. But
• 23:17
Speaker 1: oh and NYCFC had a thing in twenty one down there,
• 23:22
Speaker 1: but nothing major like.
• 23:24
Speaker 2: This is gonna be. This is gonna be, This is
• 23:26
Speaker 2: gonna be your bigger than the Yankees nineties parade? Is
• 23:29
  Speaker 2: what I'm Oh, I think I think it. I think
• 23:31
Speaker 2: it might be. I think it could be. That's how
• 23:34
Speaker 2: that's how big this is. Now.
• 23:35
Speaker 3: I gotta ask you a question this, So this ended
• 23:37
Speaker 3: the latest sports drought, right, fifty three years, Alex?
• 23:42
Speaker 2: What constitutes a sports drought? Fifteen years, twenty years?
• 23:47
Speaker 1: Well, Yanks are coming up on seventeen eighteen years.
• 23:50
Speaker 2: I think a sports drought maybe more than thirty What
• 23:55
  Speaker 2: do you think?
• 23:57
Speaker 3: I would say thirty for sure, but I would say
• 24:01
Speaker 3: twenty twenty to twenty twenty.
• 24:03
Speaker 2: Five somewhere somewhere in there.
• 24:06
Speaker 1: And look that there's still baseball teams that have never
• 24:08
Speaker 1: won the World Series, and there's still I mean, the
• 24:10
Speaker 1: numbers seems to be dwindling. But if I think I'm
• 24:13
Speaker 1: am on the top of the head, I think the
• 24:15
Speaker 1: Rays are won, right, They've not won a World the Rays, Rays,
• 24:19
Speaker 1: I don't think they won one.
• 24:22
Speaker 3: No, the Mariners, Rockies, the Rockies were in one, but
• 24:29
Speaker 3: they didn't win one.
• 24:32
Speaker 2: You know. So there's three right there, you know.
• 24:35
Speaker 1: And then in football, I mean there's still some teams
• 24:37
Speaker 1: that have not won a Super Bowl.
• 24:38
Speaker 2: I mean, that's just the reality. Detroit the Browns.
• 24:42
Speaker 3: The Browns won a lot of NFL championships pre Super Bowl,
• 24:46
Speaker 3: but Detroit the Browns, they've never won.
• 24:50
Speaker 2: You know, Houston's never won.
• 24:52
Speaker 3: But Houston's only been in the league since two thousand and.
• 24:55
Speaker 2: Two, you know. So there are you know, there are
• 24:59
Speaker 2: some uh you know, Jacksonville, Arizona.
• 25:04
Speaker 1: So my point is we complained about it, but yet
• 25:06
Speaker 1: there are literal teams, cities starving for a championship.
• 25:12
Speaker 3: But we have the we have the most teams. We
• 25:15
Speaker 3: New York has the most teams.
• 25:16
Speaker 2: They have two teams in every sport.
• 25:20
Speaker 3: We have three in the NHL. Uh, you know, we
• 25:24
Speaker 3: have so we have the most. We have the most teams, but.
• 25:26
Speaker 1: We have our fans are hungry because the eighties feel
• 25:29
Speaker 1: like a long time ago.
• 25:30
Speaker 2: Now they are a long time ago. That's a forty
• 25:33
Speaker 2: two year drought. Uh, you know, the Nets a fifty
• 25:36
Speaker 2: year drought. The uh you know they never have.
• 25:40
Speaker 3: Fifty years since they won the last ABA championship, the
• 25:43
  Speaker 3: Jets fifty seven's.
• 25:45
Speaker 2: There's a lot of routes in the city, the Nets
• 25:47
Speaker 2: forty yes this year. Yeah, with no hope in right now.
• 25:54
Speaker 3: But well, it's not gonna be well again, believe it
• 25:57
Speaker 3: or not as bad as they've been playing, if they
• 25:59
Speaker 3: could get their good guys back, especially uh and hold
• 26:03
Speaker 3: on for Luella for only four and a half games
• 26:05
  Speaker 3: out of a.
• 26:05
Speaker 2: Playoff spot as of yesterday.
• 26:08
Speaker 1: Like you think about it, it's been five thousand plus
• 26:10
Speaker 1: days and we've all been hungry for this a championship.
• 26:14
Speaker 2: Well I had you might have been. I was. I
• 26:16
Speaker 2: wasn't rooting for the Knicks, as you know, I know
• 26:18
  Speaker 2: you were.
• 26:19
Speaker 1: But I'm saying the city was hungry for this, and
• 26:21
Speaker 1: I still don't. I said, different rate between those that
• 26:25
Speaker 1: were through the paperbag era of the Knicks and these
• 26:28
Speaker 1: people that are transplants moving in here all of a
• 26:31
Speaker 1: sudden throwing the Knicks gear on. You know, do you
• 26:34
Speaker 1: know Dave de Busher is you know who Earl the
• 26:37
  Speaker 1: Pearl Modroe is.
• 26:38
Speaker 2: You're Alex. You're one hundred percent correct.
• 26:41
Speaker 1: If Frasier wasn't on TV, you wouldn't know what Clyde is,
• 26:44
Speaker 1: you know what I mean?
• 26:45
Speaker 2: It's like, how about Patrick Ewing.
• 26:48
Speaker 1: What a moment for him to host hoist the uh
• 26:51
Speaker 1: the championship, which you know the trophy was nice, which
• 26:55
Speaker 1: I guess could have been his back.
• 26:56
  Speaker 2: In ninety four.
• 26:57
Speaker 1: But anyway, you know, you tell me about Red Red
• 27:04
Speaker 1: Holsman and all these other guys.
• 27:06
Speaker 2: Uh, they can't, they can't. All I know is Jalen
• 27:10
Speaker 2: and og at Kat I mean at j Hark.
• 27:14
  Speaker 1: I mean it's it's and they're great, and maybe they
• 27:17
Speaker 1: all get their number retired because they did something special
• 27:20
  Speaker 1: like this.
• 27:21
Speaker 3: Well, I can tell you number eleven is getting his
• 27:23
  Speaker 3: number retired.
• 27:25
Speaker 2: Runs is getting his number retired, and you know, we
• 27:29
Speaker 2: will forget. I remember watching Josh Hard a couple of
• 27:31
Speaker 2: years ago in the postseason. He was so clutched, like
• 27:34
Speaker 2: he made those clutch.
• 27:35
Speaker 1: Shots, and I guess it was I think it might
• 27:37
Speaker 1: have been against Atlanta at one point but against Boston
• 27:40
Speaker 1: or at that Trey Young series, that's right against Atlanta,
• 27:43
Speaker 1: he made that one shot.
• 27:43
Speaker 2: I remember on ABC.
• 27:45
  Speaker 1: Watching he's a clutch guy, and you know he's a
• 27:48
Speaker 1: bit of a journeyman. I think this is fourth or
• 27:49
Speaker 1: fifteen he's been on right look, yes.
• 27:51
Speaker 3: And but again he's on the right team now and
• 27:54
Speaker 3: that's all that matters.
• 27:55
Speaker 2: He fits in kat.
• 27:57
Speaker 1: We were on the air after that trade or whatever,
• 28:01
  Speaker 1: and we.
• 28:01
Speaker 2: Were like, I did Minnesota let him go? Remember that.
• 28:04
Speaker 2: We were on the air the very next day about that.
• 28:06
Speaker 1: Yep, he was at the bar, he was at the
• 28:09
Speaker 1: Minnesota training facility, and all of a sudden he gets worried.
• 28:12
Speaker 2: He's traded to New York and now he's a champion.
• 28:14
Speaker 1: So Leon rode Rose and they put this team together.
• 28:18
Speaker 2: But you know what, it's almost like when uh.
• 28:24
Speaker 1: Reese got a lot of credit for that Super Bowl
• 28:28
Speaker 1: in seven awight, but it was really Earnie A.
• 28:29
Speaker 2: Coursey. I still think Pibs gets some credit because of course,
• 28:33
Speaker 2: of course he does. He coaches guys. Yeah, I mean he.
• 28:38
Speaker 3: Set up you know, they're excellent defensive team and that
• 28:41
Speaker 3: was that was tips who you know who stressed defensive excellence.
• 28:47
Speaker 2: And you know, I think I think that carried over
• 28:49
Speaker 2: a little bit O line got. You gotta give Jim
• 28:53
Speaker 2: Dolan a lot of credit. He took a thirty.
• 28:55
Speaker 3: Million dollar gamble by firing tips. He's playing tips thirty
• 28:58
Speaker 3: million not to and.
• 29:00
Speaker 2: Uh, you know Mike Brown to be the coach.
• 29:04
Speaker 3: He took a thirty million dollar gamble and then paid
• 29:06
Speaker 3: off for Dolan, who I guess is in such a
• 29:08
Speaker 3: bad owner after roll.
• 29:09
Speaker 1: Now you know, he's like, why are you playing a
• 29:12
Speaker 1: guitar while your teams are struggling in.
• 29:14
Speaker 2: The in the garden.
• 29:15
Speaker 1: I remember that very vividly. The teams were under five hundred.
• 29:18
Speaker 1: He's there playing his guitar, and everybody hated him for that.
• 29:21
Speaker 2: Now he's a bloved odor and it's like cut it out.
• 29:24
Speaker 2: We still think. I still think. I still I'm my
• 29:26
  Speaker 2: issue with Dolan.
• 29:27
Speaker 1: You know, I know he brought a ring here, but
• 29:30
Speaker 1: you know, now you have to fix up the other team.
• 29:32
Speaker 2: You know. My dream, right, my dream is he comes
• 29:36
Speaker 2: up to the podium and.
• 29:38
Speaker 1: Says, on Thursday, he said, I know, but it's not
• 29:41
Speaker 1: gonna happen. He says, all right, nixt you were great,
• 29:45
Speaker 1: Chris Durry, You're out I want the Rangers here next year,
• 29:48
  Speaker 1: I got.
• 29:49
Speaker 2: I want that to happen, but it won't happen. But
• 29:53
Speaker 2: I would like some changes on the Rangers. Now, well
• 29:55
Speaker 2: you're gonna You're definitely gonna see changes on the Rangers.
• 29:58
Speaker 1: Definitely because KeAndre Miller, who I talk about earlier one
• 30:01
Speaker 1: last night, Yeah, Brett Howdon a former.
• 30:03
Speaker 2: Ranger ye had. He was spectacular. Howton You had a
• 30:08
Speaker 2: former Ranger coach, John Tortorella. Yeah, but they did the
• 30:14
Speaker 2: right thing by getting rid of him.
• 30:15
Speaker 3: You know, he was as welcome at and he and
• 30:17
Speaker 3: he coached a couple of different teams since then. So,
• 30:20
Speaker 3: but last night, if you want to just wrap it
• 30:22
Speaker 3: up with the hockey, last night was a game five
• 30:26
Speaker 3: series clinching Carolina classic. You know, they played the Carolina way.
• 30:30
Speaker 3: They totally dominated, they shut down, they frustrated the Golden
• 30:34
Speaker 3: Knights attack. They went nineteen minutes with zero shots on goal.
• 30:39
Speaker 3: And you're talking about a team with a lot of
• 30:41
Speaker 3: great offensive players. And that's why Carolina became the eighth
• 30:47
Speaker 3: different team to win the Stanley.
• 30:48
Speaker 2: Cup over the last eight years. Talk about championship parody.
• 30:55
Speaker 2: And you know, Bussy, the last three games was great.
• 30:59
Speaker 3: I was really really impressed by the number of Carolina
• 31:03
Speaker 3: fans that came to Vegas.
• 31:06
Speaker 2: I mean that shocked me.
• 31:08
Speaker 3: They were there were so many, and that was that
• 31:12
  Speaker 3: That was one.
• 31:13
Speaker 2: Thing that that shocked me.
• 31:14
Speaker 3: Peat that how many Carolina fans were at the game
• 31:17
Speaker 3: last night in Las Vegas.
• 31:20
Speaker 2: And Jordan still thirty seven years old.
• 31:22
Speaker 3: He wanted he want a Cup with Pittsburgh when he
• 31:24
Speaker 3: was twenty and now.
• 31:26
  Speaker 2: Wins another one.
• 31:28
Speaker 1: And you know what, they just celebrating fifty years of
• 31:30
Speaker 1: Hartford hockey. This still goes to the Whalers a little
• 31:34
Speaker 1: bit because it's their team.
• 31:36
Speaker 2: I mean it was originally their team.
• 31:38
Speaker 1: So and uh about the player now coach winning it
• 31:43
Speaker 1: twenty years apart, I mean, yeah, he's.
• 31:45
Speaker 2: Also on the fourth one.
• 31:47
Speaker 3: Only fourth time that's ever happened a player called a
• 31:51
Speaker 3: player capptain and coach the Stanley Cup winning team. And
• 31:58
Speaker 3: remember there was some there was some talk about that
• 32:01
Speaker 3: they weren't going to resign them last year. He as
• 32:05
Speaker 3: Sean McDonough, the brilliant Sean McDonough said last night, he's
• 32:09
  Speaker 3: defacing the franchise.
• 32:11
Speaker 1: I even asked you on the year a couple of
• 32:13
Speaker 1: years now, do you think Brenda was done because I remember.
• 32:15
Speaker 2: It was that right, Yes we did.
• 32:16
Speaker 1: We did exit against the Rangers, and everybody started to say,
• 32:19
Speaker 1: oh my god, here we are again. And then sure
• 32:21
Speaker 1: enough the patients paid off and an He won.
• 32:26
Speaker 2: I think the Shore did.
• 32:27
Speaker 3: And they were on everybody side.
• 32:33
  Speaker 1: I mean every year they're a thorn in everybody's side.
• 32:35
Speaker 1: So it was a matter of time before I went together.
• 32:38
Speaker 1: And look Stall I mentioned him before. I think he
• 32:41
Speaker 1: wont MPPs today. He did a story ever, I mean, the.
• 32:48
Speaker 2: Oldest con Spin Trophy winner ever.
• 32:52
Speaker 1: I want to get your perspective on this because I
• 32:55
Speaker 1: was to fifty three years. You saw the seventy seventy
• 32:58
Speaker 1: three he tames. Was there a different kind of dominance
• 33:03
  Speaker 1: with that.
• 33:04
Speaker 2: Era than there is now?
• 33:05
Speaker 1: I mean it just feels like a different kind of
• 33:07
Speaker 1: strategy or kind of a different winning. I mean, were
• 33:10
Speaker 1: they both dominating times for these teams?
• 33:14
Speaker 2: For this team? Well, there's a couple of differences.
• 33:20
Speaker 3: The NBA was what should I say, it was more
• 33:25
Speaker 3: top heavy than it is now. You had the Lakers,
• 33:28
Speaker 3: You had the Milwaukee Books with Jabbar bul Jabbar. You
• 33:32
Speaker 3: had the Lakers with Western Chamberlain, Gale Goodrich and Jim
• 33:36
  Speaker 3: mcmillaney had.
• 33:36
Speaker 2: The Knicks with Willis, Reed and Frasier and Bradley and
• 33:42
Speaker 2: the Busher and Earl, the Pearl Montroe. These are great
• 33:45
Speaker 2: basketball teams. These are smart basketball teams.
• 33:50
Speaker 3: There was no three point shot until nineteen seventy nine,
• 33:53
Speaker 3: so that the game was different.
• 33:57
Speaker 2: Defense was more rest in it is now.
• 34:01
Speaker 3: There was no there was no such things as uh
• 34:05
Speaker 3: rest rest management, you know, no maintenance time days.
• 34:10
Speaker 2: You had more dominant centers.
• 34:12
Speaker 3: Everybody says, when Whenby's this, and when Bey's that, he's
• 34:16
Speaker 3: been an Elijah one, he's better than No.
• 34:18
Speaker 2: He's not. He's not even close, and we get his
• 34:20
  Speaker 2: ass kicked.
• 34:21
Speaker 3: In the seventies, chamber Chamberin would would break him like
• 34:24
Speaker 3: a twig, the strongest man probably ever to play him
• 34:27
Speaker 3: or shack the strongest man ever to play the game.
• 34:33
Speaker 3: Uh you know, Willis would take him outside and drive
• 34:36
Speaker 3: around him or take jump shots. This and this next
• 34:39
Speaker 3: team was dominant in the seventies because they went to
• 34:43
Speaker 3: the finals three times in four years and they won
• 34:45
  Speaker 3: two of them.
• 34:46
Speaker 2: They played the Lakers all three times. And by the way,
• 34:49
Speaker 2: I wanted to make this history.
• 34:50
Speaker 1: Note this was pre merger, so this is really the
• 34:52
Speaker 1: first ever NBA outright title for the next.
• 34:57
Speaker 2: Right this is this is pre merger and kudos is Nick.
• 35:05
Speaker 3: Team fabulous fun to watch, but if they played the
• 35:09
Speaker 3: Nixon seventies they might win.
• 35:12
  Speaker 2: One game.
• 35:17
Speaker 1: Performance I think individually goes up there, right up there.
• 35:23
Speaker 2: But again it'll never top Willis Reeves because he've had
• 35:26
Speaker 2: a little injury and all that.
• 35:29
Speaker 1: But this performance, like og sippin that moment, is up there.
• 35:35
Speaker 1: But this performance I think makes it to second and
• 35:40
  Speaker 1: probably I agree.
• 35:41
Speaker 3: I mean Brunson. Brunson's performance in game six is an
• 35:46
Speaker 3: old timer. I mean he has the most points ever by.
• 35:49
Speaker 2: Nick in a playoff game. Before that, it was thirty
• 35:52
Speaker 2: eight by the captain Willis Reid. But Brunson's performance the
• 35:57
  Speaker 2: other night is.
• 35:59
Speaker 1: Reminds me of by Way, because you know, Willis route
• 36:01
Speaker 1: well and I remember and I read well.
• 36:03
Speaker 2: I mean, he was one of my best friends.
• 36:05
Speaker 1: We told the story with Jim Lambrella, but I want
• 36:08
Speaker 1: maybe people who were.
• 36:09
Speaker 2: Just tuning in for the first time, you know, people
• 36:13
  Speaker 2: may forget he.
• 36:14
Speaker 1: Went from the Knicks obviously legendary too, and that's executive.
• 36:18
Speaker 2: I mean, that was his life.
• 36:20
Speaker 3: It was Yes, he was with us for eighteen eighteen
• 36:24
  Speaker 3: nineteen years.
• 36:25
Speaker 2: I mean, and he was a good friend, your co worker.
• 36:29
Speaker 3: He was a mentor and advised me on a couple
• 36:31
Speaker 3: of things that I took his advice on and it
• 36:35
  Speaker 3: paid off.
• 36:36
Speaker 1: Did you ever have these guys like, oh my god,
• 36:38
Speaker 1: it's Willis Reed, I grew up watching you or were
• 36:40
Speaker 1: you kind of like what was he like?
• 36:43
  Speaker 2: Times?
• 36:44
Speaker 3: Sometimes Alex, yeah, you look back and say, holy god.
• 36:48
Speaker 2: Well I'm friends with Willis Reed. I saw him play.
• 36:52
Speaker 3: I mean sometimes you take it for granted when he's
• 36:54
Speaker 3: you know, when you're in that business.
• 36:56
Speaker 2: But yes, you take a step back and say, wow, wow,
• 37:02
  Speaker 2: you do.
• 37:04
Speaker 3: And he was as great a human being as he
• 37:07
  Speaker 3: was a player.
• 37:09
Speaker 2: That's how good he was. He's the best guy.
• 37:11
Speaker 3: Well, let's reach is the best person I've ever met
• 37:13
  Speaker 3: in professional sports.
• 37:14
Speaker 1: And I want to give this thought to the Viscardi Center.
• 37:17
Speaker 1: He was one of the guys that came out to
• 37:19
  Speaker 1: Viscardi along with.
• 37:21
Speaker 2: Well Clyde and Earl the Pearl.
• 37:23
Speaker 1: I would love to see the twenty twenty five, twenty
• 37:25
Speaker 1: six Nicks come out to VISCARTI and we talked a lot,
• 37:31
Speaker 1: but I wanted to end it right there because man,
• 37:34
Speaker 1: that was a lot of content. But yes, Lou Urmandello's
• 37:37
Speaker 1: take on the comparison of the seventies to the twenty
• 37:40
Speaker 1: twenty six, twenty five to twenty six Nicks and though
• 37:45
Speaker 1: it was Nison five, it was Nicks in twenty twenty six.
• 37:50
Speaker 1: And that's my message to end Terminelo's take. Thank you
• 37:54
Speaker 1: Lou for joining us and we'll have you back soon
• 37:58
Speaker 1: at one Lego alex Media
