- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Norwegian with Fexingo! I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Ready for episode 53? Lucas: You bet. Last time we tackled simple past with verbs like spiste and drakk. Luna: Oh, I loved that! I've been saying 'Jeg spiste en banan' all week. Lucas: That's awesome! Today we're shifting gears to something you use every day: furniture and rooms. Luna: Ooh, like at home? I need to know how to describe my apartment in Norwegian. Lucas: Exactly. Let's start simple. The word for 'table' is bord. Luna: Bord. Like the board you eat on? Lucas: Exactly. Bord. Say it with me: bord. Luna: Bord. Bord. Lucas: Perfect. Next up: 'chair' — stol. Luna: Stol. Like a stool but with an L. Lucas: Exactly. Stol. Let's use them: 'bord og stol' — table and chair. Luna: Bord og stol. Got it. What about 'bed'? Lucas: That's seng. s e n g. Luna: Seng. Sounds like 'sing' but with a g. Lucas: Right. So we have bord, stol, seng. Let's put them in a sentence: 'Jeg har et bord og en stol.' I have a table and a chair. Luna: Jeg har et bord og en stol. Lucas: Nice! And 'Jeg har en seng.' I have a bed. Luna: Jeg har en seng. Easy. Lucas: Now let's move to rooms. The word for 'kitchen' is kjøkken. Luna: Kjøkken. That's a fun one. Kj — like 'sh'? Lucas: Close. Kjøkken. The kj sound is like a soft 'sh' but with a bit of a k. Try it. Luna: Kjøkken. Kjøkken. Lucas: Good! Next: 'bathroom' — bad. Luna: Bad. Like 'bath' without the th. Lucas: Exactly. And 'living room' — stue. Luna: Stue. Stue. Lucas: Perfect. So we have kjøkken, bad, stue. Now let's make sentences. 'På kjøkkenet er det et bord.' In the kitchen there is a table. Luna: På kjøkkenet er det et bord. Lucas: Right. And 'På badet er det en stol.' In the bathroom there is a chair. Luna: På badet er det en stol. Lucas: Let's do a little scene. Imagine you're showing me your apartment. You say: 'Her er kjøkkenet.' Here is the kitchen. Luna: Her er kjøkkenet. And then I point to the table: 'Her er bordet.' Lucas: Yes! And then we go to the living room: 'Her er stuen.' Here is the living room. Luna: Her er stuen. And in the living room there's a bed? No, a sofa! Lucas: We haven't learned sofa yet, but that's a good one for another time. For now, let's stick with what we have. Let's do a quick review. Luna: Okay, I'm ready. Lucas: Repeat after me: bord. Luna: Bord. Lucas: stol. Luna: Stol. Lucas: seng. Luna: Seng. Lucas: kjøkken. Luna: Kjøkken. Lucas: bad. Luna: Bad. Lucas: stue. Luna: Stue. Lucas: Excellent. Now, a full sentence: 'På stuen er det en seng.' In the living room there is a bed. Luna: På stuen er det en seng. That's a bit unusual, but I get it. Lucas: Right. Normally a bed is in the bedroom, but we'll save that word for another day. For now, you can describe any room with these words. Luna: Yeah! I can say 'På badet er det en stol' to mean there's a chair in the bathroom. Lucas: Exactly. You're getting the hang of it. Let's imagine we're at a friend's house. You ask: 'Hvor er kjøkkenet?' Where is the kitchen? Luna: Hvor er kjøkkenet? Lucas: And I answer: 'Kjøkkenet er der.' The kitchen is there. Luna: Kjøkkenet er der. Lucas: Great. Now, one more time, let's say all six words together. I'll say the Norwegian, you repeat. Luna: Sounds good. Lucas: bord. Luna: Bord. Lucas: stol. Luna: Stol. Lucas: seng. Luna: Seng. Lucas: kjøkken. Luna: Kjøkken. Lucas: bad. Luna: Bad. Lucas: stue. Luna: Stue. Lucas: Fantastic! You've got this. Now, go ahead and practice by describing your own home. 'Jeg har et bord i kjøkkenet' — I have a table in the kitchen. Luna: Jeg har et bord i kjøkkenet. And 'Jeg har en seng på stuen'? Lucas: Close! We usually say 'i stuen' — in the living room. So 'Jeg har en seng i stuen.' Luna: Jeg har en seng i stuen. Got it. Lucas: Remember, practice makes progress. Keep using these words every day. Luna: I will! Thanks for another fun lesson, Lucas. Lucas: You're welcome, Luna. And to our listeners: thanks for learning with Fexingo. Keep practicing, and we'll see you next time! Luna: Ha det bra!
