Transcript
- 0:02Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
- 0:05Speaker 1: hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
- 0:09Speaker 1: Kate Torber and coming up on today's show, Gabby Sullivan
- 0:13Speaker 1: accuses Jackie Alexander of ruining her wedding. Things heat up
- 0:16Speaker 1: between Tammy Hembrough and Bailey Smith and Kurt Till squashes
- 0:21Speaker 1: hair transplant rumours. But first, Sophie, you are finally back
- 0:26Speaker 1: after 12 weeks away on maternity leave. I'm so excited.
- 0:29Speaker 1: I was hoping though when I returned that I wouldn't
- 0:32Speaker 1: be as sleep deprived as I currently am. Brandon and
- 0:35Speaker 1: I are still doing our overnight feeds because our son Luca,
- 0:39Speaker 1: he's a little bit on the smaller side. He's actually
- 0:41Speaker 1: in the 2% for weight. So we are having to
- 0:44Speaker 1: keep up those feeds until he's five kilograms. So literally
- 0:47Speaker 1: every night that I do a late night feed, I
- 0:49Speaker 1: get him in this bath that we have and I
- 0:51Speaker 1: weigh him because it is my little light at the
- 0:54Speaker 1: end of the tunnel. And last night he weighed 4.98.
- 0:56Speaker 1: So I'm like, is it on tonight? Will I get
- 0:59Speaker 1: asleep tonight? Very close. I mean, also you're assuming that
- 1:03Speaker 1: he then doesn't wake up for that. I think I'm
- 1:05Speaker 1: just a bit deluded at the moment with this sleep deprivation,
- 1:08Speaker 1: but we're getting there. We're getting there. Yeah. And I
- 1:11Speaker 1: felt for you, Soph, because just as you went on
- 1:13Speaker 1: maternity leave, you missed out on all these massive pop
- 1:16Speaker 1: culture stories that happened. Of course, Tammy Hembrough announced her divorce.
- 1:19Speaker 1: I think it was literally a week after you went
- 1:21Speaker 1: on maternity leave. It's like she knew I was going
- 1:24Speaker 1: on leave. I was so disappointed not to be involved.
- 1:26Speaker 1: I loved your take on it though. And the deep
- 1:29Speaker 1: dive series, that was very good timing that that all coexists.
- 1:32Speaker 1: And at the same time, that helped me get through
- 1:34Speaker 1: some of those early weeks of having a newborn. Well,
- 1:36Speaker 1: I lied a little bit in the intro, Sophie, because
- 1:38Speaker 1: I said it was your first day back of maternity leave,
- 1:41Speaker 1: but we managed to get you out of the house
- 1:43Speaker 1: on Thursday, all three of us back together to do
- 1:46Speaker 1: a photo shoot for a secret project that we have coming. Oh,
- 1:49Speaker 1: it was so much fun. I felt like a kid
- 1:51Speaker 1: sneaking out of the house. My parents-in-law were over and
- 1:54Speaker 1: also my husband was looking after Luca and it was
- 1:57Speaker 1: just so nice. We went and got our makeup done.
- 2:00Speaker 1: I felt put together. We did a bit of a
- 2:02Speaker 1: photo shoot. We even got some sneaky McDonald's on the
- 2:05Speaker 1: way home. It was a big day but a fun
- 2:08Speaker 1: day and I heard you teasing about this new project
- 2:12Speaker 1: On Friday's show. And I thought, Kate and Amy, who
- 2:14Speaker 1: do you guys think you are? I know. Being on
- 2:16Speaker 1: the other side of it, though, it is kind of
- 2:17Speaker 1: fun to drop some clues. Well, we need a new clue.
- 2:19Speaker 1: What's one of the clues? Look, I'm not going to
- 2:21Speaker 1: be put on the spot. If I'm going to drop
- 2:22Speaker 1: Easter eggs, it's going to be like a Taylor Swift
- 2:24Speaker 1: Easter egg where it's really clever. On our social media, maybe. Yeah,
- 2:27Speaker 1: maybe we'll have to come up with something. Well, I
- 2:29Speaker 1: do have a bit of an exciting update regarding Outspoken Plus.
- 2:33Speaker 1: So we have had our subscription channel, I think, for
- 2:35Speaker 1: over two years now. Wow. And originally when we set
- 2:38Speaker 1: it up, due to our podcast distributor, we could only
- 2:41Speaker 1: get it on Apple Podcasts. And then we could also
- 2:44Speaker 1: offer it on Patreon. And then I managed to set
- 2:46Speaker 1: up a separate Spotify feed. And it was a bit
- 2:49Speaker 1: complicated to get on there, wasn't it? Yeah, it was
- 2:51Speaker 1: just an extra step and the subs episodes don't show
- 2:54Speaker 1: up in the regular feed on Spotify. So it was
- 2:56Speaker 1: a bit of a headache. So I'm now happy to
- 2:58Speaker 1: report that Outspoken Plus is available through Outspoken's regular Spotify feed.
- 3:03Speaker 1: So if that has been putting you off from subscribing,
- 3:05Speaker 1: it's a lot easier now. We'll also keep our other
- 3:09Speaker 1: Spotify feed going with Outspoken Plus on it because we
- 3:11Speaker 1: do have subscribers on there. I don't want to make
- 3:13Speaker 1: it too complicated for anyone. Look, I'm a bit lost.
- 3:15Speaker 1: I'm a bit technically challenged, but I think it is
- 3:17Speaker 1: the perfect time to sign up because Outspoken Plus is
- 3:21Speaker 1: basically an extended version of our current show. So we
- 3:25Speaker 1: have a bit more of an unfiltered chat about influencers
- 3:28Speaker 1: and influencer events and I think I enjoy those episodes
- 3:33Speaker 1: so much. I particularly enjoyed them over the break listening
- 3:35Speaker 1: to them because I was laughing along, particularly to last
- 3:38Speaker 1: week's subs where you guys chatted about Saffron Barker's boyfriend
- 3:42Speaker 1: and his protein farts. Just keeping all the highbrow stuff
- 3:45Speaker 1: for the subscribers. This one's scary. Is it juicy? Okay.
- 3:52Speaker 1: My lips are dry. I'm scared.
- 3:54Speaker 2: How to deal with a friendship fallout.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Did you guys have a friendship fallout? Yes. Jackie Alexander
- 4:02Speaker 1: has hit back at claims that she ruined Gabby Sullivan's wedding.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Jackie was forced to defend herself after her former bestie
- 4:09Speaker 1: claimed she got drunk and made her cry at her
- 4:11Speaker 1: own wedding. Before we get into the drama, Soph, can
- 4:14Speaker 1: you give us some background on Jackie and Gabby? Yeah,
- 4:17Speaker 1: I want to get us acquainted with all of the
- 4:18Speaker 1: main players. First, we've got Jackie Alexander, and she is
- 4:22Speaker 1: a 33-year-old fashion and lifestyle influencer who has over 500,000
- 4:26Speaker 1: TikTok followers. She is also the co-founder of a fashion
- 4:31Speaker 1: label as well as a reusable coffee cup business. I
- 4:34Speaker 1: have a big soft spot for Jackie. I discovered her
- 4:37Speaker 1: content when she was hitting back at people being ageist
- 4:41Speaker 1: towards her and wanting to be an influencer and have
- 4:44Speaker 1: fashion content as someone in their 30s. How dare a
- 4:47Speaker 1: 30-year-old want to create content? I'm a big fan of her. Now,
- 4:51Speaker 1: Jackie got engaged in August last year and she likes
- 4:53Speaker 1: to joke that she's a bit of a wag because
- 4:55Speaker 1: her fiance is an Olympian. He's called Nathan. He's a
- 4:59Speaker 1: hockey player, so I really enjoyed a lot of her
- 5:01Speaker 1: content when the Olympics were on. We got a real
- 5:03Speaker 1: behind-the-scenes view of what it was like as the girlfriend
- 5:07Speaker 1: or wife of an Olympian. Then we've got Gabby Sullivan. Now,
- 5:12Speaker 1: she is a 31-year-old model and influencer who owns a
- 5:15Speaker 1: sportswear brand. Now, she has 322,000 followers on TikTok, and
- 5:20Speaker 1: Gabby married her longtime partner, Chad Cross, in November last year. Now,
- 5:25Speaker 1: in terms of their friendship, the pair became friends during
- 5:28Speaker 1: the pandemic when Jackie moved from Melbourne to Gabby's hometown
- 5:31Speaker 1: of Perth. And it seemed like Jackie was somewhat of
- 5:34Speaker 1: a fan of Gabby before they met because she admitted
- 5:37Speaker 1: that she followed Gabby on social media for years. And
- 5:41Speaker 1: with both of them being influencers, Gabby was also familiar
- 5:44Speaker 1: with Jackie and she suggested that they catch up when
- 5:46Speaker 1: she found out she was moving to Perth. And it
- 5:49Speaker 1: turns out they finally met when Jackie asked Gabby to
- 5:52Speaker 1: shoot for her fashion brand. And she later admitted it
- 5:55Speaker 1: was a dream come true for her. From there, they
- 5:58Speaker 1: clicked instantly and became best friends. That seems to be
- 6:01Speaker 1: a bit of the norm in the influencer world. I
- 6:04Speaker 1: feel like a lot of micro influencers watch bigger influencers
- 6:08Speaker 1: from afar. Then when they suddenly gain more of a following,
- 6:12Speaker 1: they then reach out and befriend them. Yeah. I mean,
- 6:14Speaker 1: I think they were similar standings in the influencer industry
- 6:17Speaker 1: at that time, but As an up-and-coming influencer, you're always
- 6:20Speaker 1: going to follow other big influencers and have that sort
- 6:22Speaker 1: of fangirl moment with them, aren't you? And you're also
- 6:25Speaker 1: going to have a lot in common because you like
- 6:26Speaker 1: doing the same thing, creating content. Now, it's not the
- 6:30Speaker 1: first time that the pair have had a friendship fallout.
- 6:33Speaker 1: So in May last year, Jackie interviewed Gabby on her
- 6:36Speaker 1: podcast and they spoke about a fight they had that
- 6:40Speaker 1: broke up their friendship for eight months. I found this
- 6:43Speaker 1: episode so fascinating to listen to, particularly Gabby. at this
- 6:46Speaker 1: point when we know there's another argument going on now
- 6:49Speaker 1: they didn't go into the specifics of what happened this
- 6:51Speaker 1: time they just said that something came between them that
- 6:54Speaker 1: they should have communicated better about and they said that
- 6:57Speaker 1: the communication following the incident made things even worse apparently
- 7:01Speaker 1: it got so bad that they would still go to
- 7:02Speaker 1: the same gym but ignore each other that is so
- 7:05Speaker 1: awkward yeah and their partners got so sick of it
- 7:08Speaker 1: that they said can you just text each other and
- 7:09Speaker 1: catch up why does this remind me of something that
- 7:12Speaker 1: the three of us would do but i think it's
- 7:13Speaker 1: slightly different when your sister's like the other night at
- 7:16Speaker 1: We had a Father's Day dinner and you were telling
- 7:19Speaker 1: your husband, Rhys, that, oh no, or Brandon, I can't
- 7:21Speaker 1: remember who, but you were telling someone that I unfriended
- 7:24Speaker 1: you on Facebook and then blocked you and deleted you
- 7:27Speaker 1: off everything just for a reaction. Oh, this was years
- 7:29Speaker 1: ago though. This wasn't recently. No, not recently, not recently.
- 7:32Speaker 1: But I think it's something petty that you do. I
- 7:34Speaker 1: think when you're sisters, you can kind of get away
- 7:36Speaker 1: with it. But I think when you're friends, this really
- 7:38Speaker 1: damages the core of the friendship, doesn't it? Yeah. Well,
- 7:41Speaker 1: when I listened to the podcast, they definitely had a
- 7:43Speaker 1: sister dynamic. Like they didn't mind giving it back to
- 7:45Speaker 1: each other. It turns out that Jackie actually blocked Gabby
- 7:49Speaker 1: on her stories because she said she operates under this
- 7:52Speaker 1: sort of out of sight, out of mind thing. Whereas
- 7:54Speaker 1: Gabby said that she was more toxic and likes to
- 7:56Speaker 1: quote know what this bitch is doing. Gabby's me. I
- 7:59Speaker 1: could never do the block. I want to know... what your,
- 8:03Speaker 1: I don't want to say enemy, but what your old
- 8:05Speaker 1: friend is up to. It's kind of like a relationship.
- 8:07Speaker 1: I never was the sort of person when I got
- 8:10Speaker 1: broken up with someone that would be able to just
- 8:12Speaker 1: block them and ignore. I just had to keep up
- 8:14Speaker 1: with their life, what they're doing. Too much, I think. Yeah.
- 8:17Speaker 1: Too much to my own detriment sometimes. Yeah. Well, during
- 8:20Speaker 1: this eight month radio silence between the pair, Gabby actually
- 8:24Speaker 1: got engaged to her longtime partner, And Jackie didn't reach out. Wow.
- 8:29Speaker 1: They ended up reconnecting at a brand event. So this
- 8:32Speaker 1: brand didn't know that they were arguing and invited both
- 8:34Speaker 1: of them. Wow. I'm so surprised that they were able
- 8:38Speaker 1: to rekindle a friendship after all of that. I mean,
- 8:42Speaker 1: I know it hasn't ended well. Well, they admitted on
- 8:44Speaker 1: this podcast that they'd had three smaller fights since that
- 8:47Speaker 1: big one. So one of the arguments took place on
- 8:50Speaker 1: the final day of Australian Fashion Week. So they were
- 8:53Speaker 1: staying together in Sydney and And they were meant to
- 8:55Speaker 1: be looking at wedding dresses for Gabby on the last
- 8:57Speaker 1: day of the trip. However, they said they ended up
- 9:00Speaker 1: having an argument over whether a pub is called a pub.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Let's throw to some of what they said. Hangry. You
- 9:07Speaker 1: were hangry. You were on your period. And when Jackie's
- 9:09Speaker 1: on her period, fuck me. Sorry, Nathan.
- 9:12Speaker 2: I know I am a cow it's yeah like I
- 9:14Speaker 2: actually am yeah but like no and I think I
- 9:18Speaker 2: was just like I just snapped and I shouldn't have
- 9:21Speaker 2: called you a cow but I just told it I
- 9:24Speaker 2: do get I I get it because I become like
- 9:27Speaker 2: really annoying and I was like can you just not
- 9:29Speaker 2: ruin this day for me of being an absolute cow like.
- 9:33Speaker 1: I'm so confused about this pub thing. What else can
- 9:35Speaker 1: a pub be known as? Well, I don't really know.
- 9:37Speaker 1: A bar? Maybe it's a Melbourne versus Perth thing because
- 9:40Speaker 1: Jackie's from Melbourne. It's funny because I can actually imagine
- 9:44Speaker 1: us getting in a heated argument about the pronunciation of
- 9:47Speaker 1: something or whether the word is right for something like this. Well,
- 9:52Speaker 1: it turns out they also had another fight at the
- 9:54Speaker 1: start of 2024 and that was in front of their
- 9:56Speaker 1: mutual friend Lucia who was visiting Perth at the time.
- 10:00Speaker 1: So they took her on this trip to Rottnest Island
- 10:03Speaker 1: and they had this massive blow up on the ferry
- 10:05Speaker 1: in front of an older couple. They said they were
- 10:07Speaker 1: really going ham at each other and they had to
- 10:09Speaker 1: actually apologize to the couple who also were on the
- 10:13Speaker 1: ferry on the way back. I'm surprised no one in
- 10:15Speaker 1: the wild has captured them arguing because it seems like
- 10:17Speaker 1: they're having quite public spats. I think the most awkward
- 10:20Speaker 1: part of this interview was that they'd said that they'd
- 10:22Speaker 1: both really matured since the big fight and it's made
- 10:25Speaker 1: their friendship stronger. Yeah, so much so that Jackie actually
- 10:29Speaker 1: went on to be Gabby's maid of honor at her wedding. Well,
- 10:31Speaker 1: it was an honorary maid of honor because Gabby ended
- 10:34Speaker 1: up having quite a small ceremony. It was very extravagant,
- 10:37Speaker 1: but she only invited 30 people and she said, She
- 10:41Speaker 1: wanted the vibe of the wedding to be like a
- 10:43Speaker 1: big dinner party with friends. That's how intimate this wedding was.
- 10:46Speaker 1: So Jackie was there getting ready with Gabby, but they
- 10:49Speaker 1: didn't have an official bridal party as such. Now, this
- 10:53Speaker 1: wedding took place in November last year. But by February,
- 10:57Speaker 1: there was a lot of speculation that Jackie and Gabby
- 10:59Speaker 1: were no longer friends because people noticed that they weren't
- 11:02Speaker 1: following each other anymore. It's a telltale sign. We had
- 11:06Speaker 1: so many people sliding into our DMs asking us to
- 11:09Speaker 1: speak about this potential friendship bust up. I couldn't believe
- 11:12Speaker 1: how many people were interested in it, but we didn't
- 11:15Speaker 1: want to touch on it until there was something concrete. Well,
- 11:18Speaker 1: Lucy Jackson and Nikki Westcott actually added a lot of
- 11:21Speaker 1: fuel to the fire around that time in February on
- 11:24Speaker 1: their podcast, Happy Hour, because they spoke about how two
- 11:27Speaker 1: of their friends had a falling out and unfollowed each other.
- 11:30Speaker 1: And later in the episode, they implied it was over
- 11:33Speaker 1: competitiveness and jealousy over weddings. I love that they dropped
- 11:37Speaker 1: that on their podcast. I am a big fan of
- 11:39Speaker 1: the Happy Hour podcast and Nikki and Lucy. They seem
- 11:43Speaker 1: to be interested in the influencer tea despite being influencers themselves,
- 11:46Speaker 1: which I enjoy. Yeah, particularly when they've got a bit
- 11:49Speaker 1: of tea to share. Yeah, I love it. Please share more. Yeah, well,
- 11:52Speaker 1: we don't have to speculate anymore because Gabby has confirmed
- 11:56Speaker 1: that they are no longer friends. Now, all of this
- 11:58Speaker 1: drama started last Monday when Jackie shared a TikTok video
- 12:02Speaker 1: that seemingly commented on the friendship breakdown. So in the video,
- 12:06Speaker 1: Jackie is joined by none other than Rani Bransbury, which
- 12:09Speaker 1: was a complete blast from the past. She lives in Perth,
- 12:11Speaker 1: so it kind of makes sense, though. It's very Perth-centric,
- 12:14Speaker 1: this story. Yeah, so Jackie, Rani and Gabby all used
- 12:17Speaker 1: to be friends together. They were in a bit of
- 12:19Speaker 1: a trio. So Jackie has filmed herself with Rani and
- 12:22Speaker 1: added text to the screen that says, what happened to
- 12:24Speaker 1: the trio? And in response, Jackie mimes to the lyric,
- 12:28Speaker 1: oh boy, from the Sabrina Carpenter song, Man Child. The
- 12:31Speaker 1: pair then shrug and look at something on Rani's phone. Oh,
- 12:34Speaker 1: the shade. I'm living for the shade. As you can imagine,
- 12:38Speaker 1: the comment section absolutely blew up. And while Gabby didn't comment,
- 12:41Speaker 1: she did like a comment that said Jackie threw a
- 12:44Speaker 1: fit at her wedding. Now, another commenter pointed this out
- 12:48Speaker 1: and Jackie replied, I did throw a fit though. My
- 12:50Speaker 1: dress ate. Now that comment got over 4,000 likes. Jackie
- 12:56Speaker 1: then went on to defend herself saying, if this happened,
- 12:58Speaker 1: why would we have posted photos, videos from the wedding together?
- 13:02Speaker 1: Let's use critical thinking skills here. Well, it is a
- 13:04Speaker 1: good point because if there's been a massive bust up
- 13:07Speaker 1: at this wedding, you aren't posting photos of your honorary bridesmaid.
- 13:10Speaker 1: You're going to try and eliminate them from those posts. Well,
- 13:13Speaker 1: the follower replied to Jackie saying, I'm not saying it happened.
- 13:16Speaker 1: I'm saying she's spreading this narrative to which Jackie said,
- 13:19Speaker 1: I fear you are too, babe. Someone else wrote, wait,
- 13:22Speaker 1: what have I missed? And Jackie replied, nothing of note, queen. Now,
- 13:25Speaker 1: Sofa Dofa also inserted herself into the narrative and she replied,
- 13:29Speaker 1: and I oop. Rani Bransby also wrote over a bottle
- 13:33Speaker 1: of wine and Jackie replied, say less. This to me
- 13:38Speaker 1: feels like an old school influencer feud, the way that
- 13:42Speaker 1: the influencers friends are actually getting involved and weighing in.
- 13:45Speaker 1: And I feel like we need a bit more of this. Yes,
- 13:48Speaker 1: it's a bit petty and high school, but I feel
- 13:50Speaker 1: like we need a bit more of that injected into
- 13:53Speaker 1: the influencer world to make it more interesting because For
- 13:55Speaker 1: a while there, everyone was getting too boring. Oh, it's
- 13:57Speaker 1: so bloody entertaining. I've been glued to this all weekend.
- 14:00Speaker 1: And I came across an old TikTok of Gabby's from
- 14:04Speaker 1: last year in November, where she referred to Jackie as
- 14:07Speaker 1: her best friend. And it seems like off the back
- 14:09Speaker 1: of Jackie's TikTok, Gabby has decided, oh, well, maybe I'll
- 14:12Speaker 1: reply to some of the commenters on this video asking
- 14:14Speaker 1: what had happened. So she wrote back, she ruined my
- 14:17Speaker 1: wedding day. and went on to say, we're definitely not
- 14:19Speaker 1: friends anymore. She then took things a step further and
- 14:23Speaker 1: shared her own clap back to TikTok on Thursday. And
- 14:26Speaker 1: in the video, she looked seriously at the camera with
- 14:29Speaker 1: a text on the screen that said, some people will
- 14:31Speaker 1: never forgive you for what they did to you. Read
- 14:34Speaker 1: that again. Someone commented, spill the tea, Jackie. And Gabby
- 14:39Speaker 1: ended up writing under that, the truth is simple. She
- 14:42Speaker 1: got blackout at my wedding, yelled at me in front
- 14:44Speaker 1: of my entire family and made me cry. Obviously, after that,
- 14:48Speaker 1: our friendship never recovered. I'm just trying to move on
- 14:51Speaker 1: with my life. We are literally grown adults and it's
- 14:54Speaker 1: so sad and embarrassing. Some girls thrive on drama and
- 14:57Speaker 1: bullying in 2025. Now, that's a pretty big accusation from
- 15:01Speaker 1: Gabby there. Oh, that's a massive accusation. And Jackie responded
- 15:05Speaker 1: with her own clap back. And it was quite the
- 15:07Speaker 1: timing because she was celebrating her hen's party, which also
- 15:10Speaker 1: appears to be a collab with Cat the Label. And
- 15:13Speaker 1: Jackie shared a video from her hens party where she
- 15:16Speaker 1: was posing for photos sitting in the back of a
- 15:18Speaker 1: convertible with text on the screen that said, ain't nobody
- 15:21Speaker 1: safe when I'm a little bit drunk. The lyrics of
- 15:23Speaker 1: that song also played. And Jackie added the caption, read
- 15:27Speaker 1: that again, which was a copy of Gabby's caption. I
- 15:31Speaker 1: love that she took time out of her hens to
- 15:32Speaker 1: do this. It shows how much it's obviously impacting her.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Someone commented under the post, so we've heard. And Jackie replied,
- 15:39Speaker 1: Talking about me again because no one listens when they
- 15:42Speaker 1: speak about themselves. Now, Jackie just keeps delivering. So on Friday,
- 15:47Speaker 1: she backed it up with a TikTok of her strutting
- 15:49Speaker 1: through the airport with the caption, me trying to act
- 15:51Speaker 1: like I'm not slowly losing my mind. And underneath the post,
- 15:55Speaker 1: someone wrote, we need your side ASAP. And Jackie replied,
- 15:58Speaker 1: God forbid a girl has a drink. She does have
- 16:01Speaker 1: a point because Gabby is really painting Jackie to be
- 16:03Speaker 1: someone who can't handle their alcohol. And it seems to
- 16:06Speaker 1: be quite clear from the fact that they've had a
- 16:08Speaker 1: friendship bust up before. that it's not just to do
- 16:11Speaker 1: with this one incident. There's a lot of things brewing
- 16:14Speaker 1: in the background. They clearly just clash heads. Yeah. It
- 16:16Speaker 1: seems to be a systemic problem. And I found this
- 16:18Speaker 1: focus on alcohol really interesting because as research for this episode,
- 16:22Speaker 1: I listened to the episode of Jackie's podcast where she
- 16:25Speaker 1: interviewed Gabby and Gabby was talking about her life and
- 16:28Speaker 1: she grew up as, I suppose, a teen model. And
- 16:31Speaker 1: when she was 15, she actually moved to Asia by
- 16:34Speaker 1: herself and was in this model house. And she said,
- 16:36Speaker 1: They used to go out all the time. They didn't
- 16:38Speaker 1: really worry about IDs where she was living. And she
- 16:41Speaker 1: got into alcohol pretty early and that's part of the
- 16:43Speaker 1: reason that she's now sober. And she spoke about how
- 16:46Speaker 1: her and her partner are both sober and she kind
- 16:50Speaker 1: of wishes she could have a sneaky champagne on her
- 16:52Speaker 1: wedding as liquid courage. And Jackie was like, oh, well,
- 16:55Speaker 1: I'll have one for you. And So it seems to
- 16:57Speaker 1: me perhaps this is a case of their lifestyles not aligning. Oh, definitely.
- 17:01Speaker 1: I mean, it's safe to say that Jackie is a
- 17:02Speaker 1: bit of a party girl. So it would be hard
- 17:04Speaker 1: as her friend if you're trying to live this sober lifestyle.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Maybe she feels like she's been left out of a
- 17:09Speaker 1: few nights out as well. Who knows? Well, it was
- 17:11Speaker 1: interesting because during this interview on Jackie's podcast, they were
- 17:14Speaker 1: talking about what is it like being the only sober friend?
- 17:17Speaker 1: And she said, I remember every little embarrassing thing everyone
- 17:21Speaker 1: else does, but they don't remember shit what I did. Oh,
- 17:23Speaker 1: so interesting. Does it sound like she's sort of lording
- 17:25Speaker 1: their behavior over them? Yeah, I did get that vibe.
- 17:29Speaker 1: And I mean, we don't know what actually happened at
- 17:31Speaker 1: this wedding, but we've got Rani Bransby sort of backing
- 17:34Speaker 1: up Jackie's claims that, you know, that they were just
- 17:37Speaker 1: having a few drinks. So maybe it was a case
- 17:39Speaker 1: of a lot of the girls were drinking and having fun.
- 17:42Speaker 1: You know, when you're in that mood and you're drinking,
- 17:44Speaker 1: you don't know how loud you're being. And then you've
- 17:46Speaker 1: got Gabby who was sober, maybe wishing that she could
- 17:49Speaker 1: have a drink at her wedding. And it seems really Yeah,
- 17:52Speaker 1: I do feel a bit for Gabby, though, as the
- 17:54Speaker 1: person who is generally, well, is always the sober friend.
- 17:57Speaker 1: I don't drink. It can be hard when you're out
- 18:00Speaker 1: and about and your friends are being obnoxious and acting
- 18:03Speaker 1: like dicks, really, and you're like, just rein it in,
- 18:06Speaker 1: particularly for a wedding. Not saying that Jackie's actually done
- 18:11Speaker 1: anything wrong at the wedding. Yeah, but the thing is,
- 18:13Speaker 1: if you're both sober as the bride and groom and
- 18:16Speaker 1: you're having this very intimate wedding where there's only 30 people,
- 18:19Speaker 1: everyone knows you really well, And if you don't want
- 18:22Speaker 1: it to be a party vibe with alcohol, why don't
- 18:24Speaker 1: you just not serve it? Yeah, that's a good point.
- 18:26Speaker 1: We joked, my husband and I joked, that we wouldn't
- 18:28Speaker 1: serve any alcohol at our wedding. But we had about
- 18:31Speaker 1: 100 people and we're like, well, no one will probably
- 18:32Speaker 1: come and no one will give a present if we
- 18:34Speaker 1: did that. But I don't think it would be a
- 18:36Speaker 1: popular decision. No. Now, the Daily Mail ended up covering
- 18:39Speaker 1: this story and they reached out to Jackie, who ended
- 18:42Speaker 1: up giving them a statement. She said, to set the
- 18:44Speaker 1: record straight, I did not yell at Gabby's wedding, nor
- 18:48Speaker 1: did I ruin her day. We continue to remain friends
- 18:51Speaker 1: post her wedding day. There is a deeper problem and
- 18:54Speaker 1: level of the story which is missing as anyone who
- 18:56Speaker 1: has been in a toxic friendship would completely understand. Sometimes
- 19:00Speaker 1: people aren't meant to be friends and that's simply what
- 19:03Speaker 1: has happened here. In the end, it wasn't healthy for
- 19:06Speaker 1: the both of us and that's why it ended, which
- 19:09Speaker 1: had already happened once before, but I chose to forgive
- 19:12Speaker 1: her and try again. These accusations are false and hurtful.
- 19:16Speaker 1: What has been more upsetting is the ongoing bullying and
- 19:19Speaker 1: public shaming directed at me since. I have always respected
- 19:22Speaker 1: that it was Gabby's special day and I would never
- 19:25Speaker 1: want to take away from that. But respect goes both ways.
- 19:28Speaker 1: I will not stand by silently while my character is attacked.
- 19:32Speaker 1: That is a pretty strong statement to put out there.
- 19:35Speaker 1: And I do feel for Jackie because there is this
- 19:37Speaker 1: particular narrative and story being built around her. and her
- 19:41Speaker 1: consumption of alcohol, which is pretty unfounded and quite unfair. Yeah,
- 19:46Speaker 1: I think the fact that she was confident enough to
- 19:48Speaker 1: give this statement to the Daily Mail speak volumes. Gabby's
- 19:51Speaker 1: very clever because she knows that there's nothing more that
- 19:54Speaker 1: the Daily Mail in particular love than a story where
- 19:59Speaker 1: a bride and a bridesmaid are pitted against each other
- 20:02Speaker 1: and the bridesmaid has tried to steal the show or
- 20:06Speaker 1: ruin the day. Because I think even just with normal people,
- 20:10Speaker 1: weddings really do generate a lot of friendship bust-ups. They
- 20:15Speaker 1: bring out the worst in people, let's be honest. And
- 20:17Speaker 1: there's so many people who have no longer been friends
- 20:19Speaker 1: with someone after a wedding. They do say that sometimes
- 20:23Speaker 1: your wedding will be the last place that you see
- 20:25Speaker 1: some of your friends. And I think that's why this
- 20:27Speaker 1: story resonates with so many people because not only is
- 20:30Speaker 1: it a friendship bust-up, which a lot of us have
- 20:32Speaker 1: been through, but it's also due to a wedding. Got
- 20:36Speaker 1: to take the kids to school in a minute. I'm
- 20:37Speaker 1: going to Melbourne. I've got a brand event and stuff. Like,
- 20:42Speaker 1: super quick trip. Should be fun. It appears things are
- 20:46Speaker 1: heating up between Tammy Hembrough and Bailey Smith, with Tammy
- 20:50Speaker 1: spending the second weekend in a row in the AFL players'
- 20:53Speaker 1: hometown of Melbourne. It seems pretty serious, and we touched
- 20:57Speaker 1: on last week, but it's bloody awkward because Tammy's ex-husband,
- 21:00Speaker 1: Matt Sikowski, is, of course, from Melbourne as well. She
- 21:03Speaker 1: never seemed to be there when they were dating. Yeah,
- 21:06Speaker 1: because it was always Matt Sikowsky who was having to
- 21:08Speaker 1: jump on the plane to the Gold Coast, put in
- 21:10Speaker 1: the effort to go and visit Tammy and her family.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Do we reckon it's because in that situation, Matt was
- 21:17Speaker 1: the lesser known person? He was just some guy off
- 21:20Speaker 1: a reality show, whereas Tammy was the big star. But
- 21:23Speaker 1: now Tammy's in a situation where Bailey Smith in Australia
- 21:28Speaker 1: is more mainstream known than her. So he is the
- 21:30Speaker 1: bigger mainstream celebrity. Yeah, I think being an AFL player,
- 21:34Speaker 1: he's definitely put on a pedestal. In saying that, though,
- 21:37Speaker 1: I think it has to do with the fact that
- 21:39Speaker 1: at the moment he's in a finals campaign and he
- 21:42Speaker 1: can't just drop everything to fly to the Gold Coast
- 21:44Speaker 1: every weekend. That's a good point. He's actually got shit
- 21:47Speaker 1: going on. He's got a bit going for him as well.
- 21:48Speaker 1: I mean, Tammy does as well. She's got her businesses
- 21:51Speaker 1: and her children. But it shows how much she wants
- 21:54Speaker 1: this new romance to work. Yeah, well, she just keeps
- 21:57Speaker 1: using these brand events that she's invited to that she
- 22:00Speaker 1: would never normally go to as an excuse to go
- 22:03Speaker 1: to Melbourne. She actually shared a TikTok updating her followers
- 22:06Speaker 1: about her weekend plans and a Get Ready With Me video. Now,
- 22:09Speaker 1: she didn't mention Bailey, but she said she was going
- 22:11Speaker 1: on a fun, super quick trip to Melbourne for a
- 22:14Speaker 1: brand event and stuff. And the brand event in question
- 22:17Speaker 1: was for a fashion label. And they must have been
- 22:19Speaker 1: thanking their lucky stars at the timing because The media
- 22:23Speaker 1: were in full force to get pictures of Tammy. How
- 22:26Speaker 1: many Melbourne brands are going to be reaching out to
- 22:28Speaker 1: Tammy now? We've got this fantastic event in Melbourne. You've
- 22:30Speaker 1: got to come along.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:32Speaker 1: Well, the media had an absolute field day at this
- 22:34Speaker 1: event because Tammy rocked up in this sarong style dress
- 22:38Speaker 1: with a plunging neckline. And the media were reporting that
- 22:41Speaker 1: she nearly had a wardrobe malfunction, which means basically her
- 22:44Speaker 1: boobs were about to pop out. That's very early 2000s,
- 22:47Speaker 1: the whole wardrobe malfunction stories, isn't it? It reminds me
- 22:51Speaker 1: of when Jennifer Hawkins genuinely had a wardrobe malfunction and
- 22:55Speaker 1: I think she was wearing a sarong actually and her
- 22:57Speaker 1: sarong fell off when she was walking down the runway.
- 22:59Speaker 1: But you know how funny it is? It just showed
- 23:00Speaker 1: off her G-string bikini. Like now everyone's just wearing a
- 23:04Speaker 1: G-string bikini. Now the media also spotted at this event
- 23:08Speaker 1: that Tammy was wearing a $ 25, 000 Cartier watch and they're
- 23:12Speaker 1: claiming that this must be a gift from Bailey. I mean,
- 23:15Speaker 1: I think they're forgetting that Tammy Hembrough is worth $ 50 million.
- 23:20Speaker 1: I think she can buy her own Cartier watch. And
- 23:23Speaker 1: out of those two, if someone is going to be
- 23:25Speaker 1: gifting someone a $ 25, 000 watch, it's going to be Tammy
- 23:28Speaker 1: for Bailey. Now Geelong are in the finals at the moment,
- 23:31Speaker 1: and I'm not usually one who wants to sit down
- 23:33Speaker 1: and watch the footy on the weekend, but I wanted
- 23:35Speaker 1: to see if I could spot Tammy Hembrough in the crowd.
- 23:38Speaker 1: It is still unknown if she was in the stands
- 23:41Speaker 1: supporting Bailey. I didn't see her myself and no pap
- 23:45Speaker 1: shots have appeared yet. I feel like if she was
- 23:49Speaker 1: there in the wild, someone would have snapped a photo
- 23:52Speaker 1: and shouted to TikTok. But then again, maybe it's not
- 23:54Speaker 1: the demographic that's interested in Tammy Hambro. What we do
- 23:57Speaker 1: know is that she was in Melbourne, so she probably
- 23:59Speaker 1: celebrated with him at the very least after. It seems
- 24:02Speaker 1: like she's a bit of a lucky charm because Geelong
- 24:04Speaker 1: won and they're through to the prelims. I just love
- 24:06Speaker 1: that Tammy Hembrough is entering her WAG era, particularly after
- 24:10Speaker 1: her divorce. It's a bit of fun. She's on the sidelines.
- 24:14Speaker 1: I'm here for it. I love it. Bringing a bit
- 24:16Speaker 1: of glamour back to the AFL, isn't she? A bit
- 24:18Speaker 1: of glitz and glamour. I'm just counting down the days
- 24:20Speaker 1: to the Brownlow, to be completely honest with you. Do
- 24:22Speaker 1: you actually think she's going to be at it? Yes,
- 24:24Speaker 1: I definitely do think she's going to be at it.
- 24:26Speaker 1: She is gearing up to be at the Brownlow. Do
- 24:29Speaker 1: we reckon we'll see a bit of a sponsored number
- 24:31Speaker 1: for her outfit? We had Vera Wang, who provided some
- 24:33Speaker 1: wedding dresses for her, which she's currently trying to sell.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Maybe she could re-wear one of the dresses. I mean,
- 24:38Speaker 1: it was pink. Isn't it when people get divorced, didn't
- 24:42Speaker 1: they used to trash their dresses or dye them? Maybe
- 24:44Speaker 1: she could dye the dress a different color, give it
- 24:46Speaker 1: another spin. Yeah. Well, it's been reported that she's had
- 24:48Speaker 1: a lot of designers reach out to her, but The
- 24:51Speaker 1: strong rumor is that influencer stylist Paul Versace will be
- 24:54Speaker 1: dressing her for the event. Because he's very controversial at
- 24:58Speaker 1: the moment. He is. Now, talking about controversials, I want
- 25:00Speaker 1: to talk to you about what Bailey said after the
- 25:02Speaker 1: game to the media because I haven't heard this. This
- 25:05Speaker 1: is an epic quote. He was asked what he's going
- 25:07Speaker 1: to do with his week off footy because they've got
- 25:09Speaker 1: a bye in between waiting to play in the prelim.
- 25:12Speaker 1: And he said, probably get on the piss for a bit,
- 25:15Speaker 1: relax the mind, hang out with my mates. I think
- 25:18Speaker 1: there will definitely be a sneaky trip to the Gold
- 25:19Speaker 1: Coast thrown in there. What does his coach think about
- 25:22Speaker 1: him saying this? See, I actually like this. I feel
- 25:25Speaker 1: like they're bringing a bit of character back to the game.
- 25:27Speaker 1: I know over the weekend Nick Dacos got in trouble
- 25:30Speaker 1: because he said the F word during a press conference and, like,
- 25:33Speaker 1: what will little children think? And I kind of understand
- 25:35Speaker 1: it from that perspective. As if they're not hearing on TikTok. Yeah,
- 25:38Speaker 1: but I just love having a bit of character to
- 25:41Speaker 1: the game, like a bit of fun. As a Crows supporter,
- 25:44Speaker 1: I hope that Bailey Smith does get on the beers
- 25:47Speaker 1: and that he heads to the Gold Coast and he's not–
- 25:50Speaker 1: in full form if they're to face them in the
- 25:52Speaker 1: prelim final, because what a shit game that was on
- 25:55Speaker 1: the weekend. I'm one of those Crows fans who I'm
- 25:57Speaker 1: jumping back on the bandwagon. I've been off the bandwagon
- 26:00Speaker 1: for about 10 years. I used to be a diehard
- 26:02Speaker 1: Crows fan. We would cry if they lost. And now
- 26:05Speaker 1: that we've finished as minor premiers, sorry, this is a
- 26:07Speaker 1: bit of footy talk for people who might not be interested,
- 26:09Speaker 1: but as we finish as minor premiers, I'm back. I'm
- 26:12Speaker 1: wanting to actually watch the games. I had to beg
- 26:14Speaker 1: my husband, who's a massive Port fan, can we actually
- 26:16Speaker 1: watch the Crows games? Are you okay? What's wrong with you? Oh,
- 26:20Speaker 1: we watched it as well. And it was so funny
- 26:22Speaker 1: seeing Taylor Walker play his 300th game and his son
- 26:24Speaker 1: standing on the sidelines in a Nick Dacos jumper. It
- 26:27Speaker 1: was hilarious. But those who haven't seen it, somehow his son,
- 26:30Speaker 1: is it Louis? I can't remember his name, but he
- 26:32Speaker 1: is a massive fan of Collingwood and Nick Dacos. And
- 26:36Speaker 1: the social media teams for the Crows and Collingwood have
- 26:38Speaker 1: been having some fun with it. So he actually got
- 26:41Speaker 1: to meet Nick and he presented him with a jersey
- 26:43Speaker 1: and Taylor Walker was such a good sport, though. He
- 26:46Speaker 1: patted him on the back, gave his son a hug.
- 26:48Speaker 1: It was the first thing he bloody saw as he's
- 26:49Speaker 1: being chairlifted off after a very bad loss for the Crows. Yeah. Now,
- 26:54Speaker 1: we will get away from footy talk because some of
- 26:56Speaker 1: our listeners may be snoring their heads off. But in fact,
- 26:58Speaker 1: we used to want to be sports journalists. What's happened
- 27:00Speaker 1: to us? Yeah, well, that's why I'm loving the influencer
- 27:02Speaker 1: in sports. Yeah, the crossover. Now, back to Tammy Hembrough.
- 27:07Speaker 1: She continues to bless us with very entertaining snapchats. And
- 27:10Speaker 1: While she was in Melbourne over the weekend, she filmed
- 27:13Speaker 1: herself miming in the back of an Uber and she
- 27:15Speaker 1: panned her camera across as if she was going to
- 27:18Speaker 1: show who she was sitting next to, but then just
- 27:20Speaker 1: showed an empty seat and gave it the finger. When
- 27:24Speaker 1: she was back on the Gold Coast on Sunday, she
- 27:26Speaker 1: also filmed a TikTok where she was in her car
- 27:29Speaker 1: playing up how difficult it is to date. So the
- 27:32Speaker 1: caption on the screen said, trying to be cool in
- 27:34Speaker 1: the talking stage, but you have no game. I have
- 27:38Speaker 1: to agree. Tammy doesn't have any game. She's probably not
- 27:40Speaker 1: used to the chatting, dating stage because she's got no game.
- 27:44Speaker 1: When I say she doesn't have game, obviously she does
- 27:46Speaker 1: have game. Everyone's saying she's collected three engagement rings. She
- 27:49Speaker 1: does have game. But what she doesn't have is she's
- 27:52Speaker 1: not used to being in a casual, fun, relaxed relationship.
- 27:56Speaker 1: Everything goes from zero to a hundred with her. So
- 27:59Speaker 1: she's probably like, hold on a second. Why hasn't this
- 28:00Speaker 1: guy proposed to me yet? Yeah, that is true. Because
- 28:02Speaker 1: if we reflect on her relationship with Matt Sikowski, she
- 28:05Speaker 1: should already have Bailey Smith's name tattooed somewhere. Or maybe
- 28:08Speaker 1: she does. That'll be a new rumor that the Daily
- 28:10Speaker 1: Mail will be running. Yeah. First heard and outspoken. Don't
- 28:13Speaker 1: quote us on that one because we have absolutely no
- 28:15Speaker 1: proof of that. No. The thing is though, she's also
- 28:17Speaker 1: dealing with someone who is quite a bit younger than
- 28:20Speaker 1: her in that Gen Z demographic who He's the face
- 28:23Speaker 1: of Tinder at the moment. He's, you know, into casual
- 28:26Speaker 1: dating apparently. Yeah, I wonder if he still is on Tinder. Please,
- 28:30Speaker 1: if you're on Tinder and you see him on there,
- 28:31Speaker 1: let us know. Oh, as if he's actually on Tinder. Oh,
- 28:34Speaker 1: he's not talking to anyone. He'd be on Raya. Now, meanwhile,
- 28:37Speaker 1: the Daily Mail have tried their hardest to conjure up
- 28:40Speaker 1: a story about Tammy being involved in a neighbourhood feud.
- 28:43Speaker 1: It sounds very Today Tonight. Oh, so I saw these
- 28:46Speaker 1: pap photos on Influencer Updates AU and I was like, oh,
- 28:50Speaker 1: my God, what an invasion of privacy because– The photos
- 28:53Speaker 1: were of the exterior of Tammy's home, literally doxing her address.
- 28:58Speaker 1: And the pictures were of this big ton of cardboard
- 29:01Speaker 1: out the front. Obviously, she'd done a big unpackaging. Well,
- 29:04Speaker 1: it's probably a lot of PR packages that she gets sent.
- 29:07Speaker 1: I heavily related to this because we have a trailer
- 29:11Speaker 1: filled with cardboard, which sits to the side of our house,
- 29:15Speaker 1: which is quite ugly to look at. But from having
- 29:18Speaker 1: a baby, you buy so many things. They all come
- 29:21Speaker 1: in large boxes. Our couch came in a large box.
- 29:24Speaker 1: You can't get rid of this shit. Well, yeah, just
- 29:26Speaker 1: as regular people, you deal with a lot of cardboard.
- 29:28Speaker 1: So imagine, you know, spare some thought for the influencers
- 29:30Speaker 1: that have 10 ton of it. There were also photos
- 29:33Speaker 1: of like shoes piled out the front. I'm like, she's
- 29:35Speaker 1: got three kids. Yeah. And they also noted that the
- 29:38Speaker 1: light fitting was a bit rusty and the fence was stained.
- 29:40Speaker 1: I'm like this woman. runs two businesses and has three
- 29:44Speaker 1: children and, you know, is a single mum. Can we
- 29:46Speaker 1: give her a bit of slack? She's also been flitting
- 29:48Speaker 1: back and forward to Melbourne. She might not have had
- 29:50Speaker 1: time to do it on the weekend. So is the
- 29:52Speaker 1: crux of this story that a neighbour has apparently complained
- 29:54Speaker 1: and sent them through the photo? Yeah. So apparently the
- 29:57Speaker 1: Daily Mail spotted some anonymous comments on Tammy's posts about
- 30:00Speaker 1: how there was a neighbourhood feud because Tammy's not maintaining
- 30:04Speaker 1: her front yard up to the standard that her neighbours want.
- 30:07Speaker 1: So they flew a journalist across to investigate. And this
- 30:12Speaker 1: journalist obviously took the pap down, took photos of the
- 30:14Speaker 1: front yard. And then she started doing a door knock
- 30:18Speaker 1: of the area and was asking Tammy's neighbors about her.
- 30:22Speaker 1: I mean, I wonder if they went through the bins. Look,
- 30:25Speaker 1: I don't want to turn my nose up at this
- 30:27Speaker 1: sort of story because I did used to work it
- 30:29Speaker 1: today tonight. And this is the exact sort of shit
- 30:31Speaker 1: that we would concentrate on. Neighborhood feuds, thrown in with
- 30:35Speaker 1: an influencer. It's a great story. I actually love that
- 30:38Speaker 1: the Daily Mail was dedicated enough to send a journo
- 30:40Speaker 1: out there door knocking. Usually they just make shit up.
- 30:43Speaker 1: I don't want to give them too much props. It
- 30:45Speaker 1: seems like a complete invasion of privacy because they were
- 30:47Speaker 1: literally going to all her neighbours being like, what do
- 30:49Speaker 1: you know? What does she do? It is an invasion
- 30:51Speaker 1: of privacy, but we've said for a while now that
- 30:53Speaker 1: investigative journalism is dead. Clearly it is not. Yeah, well,
- 30:56Speaker 1: what the journalists managed to uncover is that Tammy has
- 30:59Speaker 1: a gardener once a fortnight and that the people were
- 31:01Speaker 1: just being malicious on social media. But they did manage
- 31:04Speaker 1: to tack on at the end that an anonymous neighbor
- 31:07Speaker 1: said that Tammy was quite unpopular on the street and
- 31:10Speaker 1: wasn't friendly. I would literally hate if an investigative journalist
- 31:16Speaker 1: came down to speak to our neighbors when the three
- 31:18Speaker 1: of us live together because- my golly, they would have
- 31:21Speaker 1: some stories about the constant arguing and yelling that came
- 31:24Speaker 1: from our house. Even if they went to our family
- 31:26Speaker 1: home because our dad is your typical retired man who is,
- 31:30Speaker 1: you know, has an issue when people park out the
- 31:32Speaker 1: front of his house. It's funny because I remember growing up,
- 31:37Speaker 1: we saw a neighbour and our mum said, oh, yes,
- 31:40Speaker 1: we spent the weekend at Goa. And the neighbour responded, yes,
- 31:44Speaker 1: we know, we couldn't hear your kids screaming in the backyard.
- 31:49Speaker 1: Kurt's hair's been thinning like a lot of guns for
- 31:52Speaker 1: the past like 10 years.
- 31:54Speaker 2: Hi, guys.
- 31:56Speaker 1: For weeks now, rumours have been swirling that Sarah's Day's husband,
- 32:00Speaker 1: Kurt Tills, is set to undergo a hair transplant. Speculation
- 32:04Speaker 1: was ignited when Kurt popped up in the background of
- 32:06Speaker 1: one of Sarah's reels sporting a freshly shaved head. Now, Soph,
- 32:10Speaker 1: the new look seemed to shock a lot of Sarah's
- 32:13Speaker 1: followers with one describing it as a jump scare. I...
- 32:18Speaker 1: also got a bit of a jump scare when I
- 32:20Speaker 1: saw him pop up. I mean, his initial appearance was
- 32:22Speaker 1: so quick that you could have blinked and missed it
- 32:24Speaker 1: because he appeared in a reel, which was focused around
- 32:29Speaker 1: their son Fox cooking. So he was cooking up some
- 32:31Speaker 1: healthy cupcakes for his family. And Kurt was literally in
- 32:34Speaker 1: the video for, I'd say a millisecond eating one of
- 32:37Speaker 1: the cupcakes, but his fleeting appearance seemed to rock some
- 32:41Speaker 1: followers to their core because with no warning, Kurt, who
- 32:45Speaker 1: has been a permanent fixture on this channel since 2017,
- 32:47Speaker 1: was suddenly bald. And not only was he bald, but
- 32:51Speaker 1: he looked like an egg because his head was so
- 32:54Speaker 1: shiny and pale. He usually has a bit of a
- 32:57Speaker 1: tan to him. It was just a very dramatic change.
- 33:01Speaker 1: I feel like it's a bit harsh to say he
- 33:03Speaker 1: looks like an egg. But what I think you're trying
- 33:04Speaker 1: to say is that it's not like he finally bit
- 33:08Speaker 1: the bullet because he has been losing his hair for
- 33:09Speaker 1: a bit. It's not like he finally went, I'm going
- 33:11Speaker 1: to go and get it shaved off. I've got a
- 33:12Speaker 1: bit of, you know, stubble on the head. It was
- 33:16Speaker 1: like literally very extreme close shave. It was very close shave. Well,
- 33:20Speaker 1: I wasn't the only one who was shocked. The top
- 33:23Speaker 1: comment under the video was, where is Kurt's hair? All
- 33:27Speaker 1: in capitals. And that comment received over 500 likes. Another
- 33:32Speaker 1: follower said that they almost died when they saw the
- 33:35Speaker 1: bald head. Whilst another said they nearly pulled their neck
- 33:38Speaker 1: reeling from the quick flash of Kurt's head. I have
- 33:42Speaker 1: to admit, that this screenshot of Kurt's bald head, it
- 33:45Speaker 1: did the rounds in our group chat because I, for one,
- 33:48Speaker 1: wasn't sitting through Fox's cooking video. It was quite a
- 33:52Speaker 1: lengthy video. It was Amy who was very quick with
- 33:55Speaker 1: the screenshot. Yeah. I do want to point out that
- 33:57Speaker 1: there is absolutely nothing wrong with having a bald head
- 34:00Speaker 1: or shaving your head. It's just definitely not. I've been
- 34:02Speaker 1: saying you should do it for years because he, as
- 34:06Speaker 1: Sarah pointed out, for 10 years he's been losing his
- 34:08Speaker 1: hair and he has been holding onto the scraps a bit,
- 34:11Speaker 1: hasn't he? Yeah, he and Sarah have been very upfront
- 34:13Speaker 1: with the fact that he's been losing his hair and
- 34:15Speaker 1: is not really sure what to do with it. They've
- 34:17Speaker 1: spoken about him trying different hairstyles. And that's what I
- 34:20Speaker 1: was most surprised about, the fact that she just dropped
- 34:23Speaker 1: it in this reel with no explanation. Because remember when
- 34:26Speaker 1: she first cut her son Fox's hair, because they let
- 34:29Speaker 1: it grow really long and it was at the stage
- 34:31Speaker 1: where they're like, oh, we've got to cut it because
- 34:32Speaker 1: we can't actually get a brush through it. And she
- 34:35Speaker 1: teased it for weeks that they were going to do
- 34:38Speaker 1: this unveiling of Fox's new hair. So I was surprised
- 34:41Speaker 1: that Kurt's hair transformation wasn't used as content, basically. Yeah,
- 34:46Speaker 1: she's really missed an opportunity there to clickbait, hasn't she?
- 34:49Speaker 1: I mean, she's probably too busy with her three children. Now,
- 34:51Speaker 1: Sarah is known for weighing in in the comment section,
- 34:55Speaker 1: and she decided to respond to a follower who wrote, wait,
- 34:59Speaker 1: why is Kurt bald? She replied saying, I have a
- 35:03Speaker 1: lot to update you on. Make sure you're watching my
- 35:05Speaker 1: YouTube vlogs. And this response led her followers to start
- 35:09Speaker 1: speculating that perhaps Kurt was set to undergo a hair transplant. Well,
- 35:14Speaker 1: it seems to be something that a lot of men
- 35:16Speaker 1: are getting done now. On the most recent series of
- 35:18Speaker 1: Love Island, it came out that Harry and Ben both
- 35:21Speaker 1: had had a hair plug. So the media managed to
- 35:23Speaker 1: dig up these before and after photos of them from
- 35:26Speaker 1: like some hair transplant clinic in Turkey. Oh, the transformation
- 35:29Speaker 1: was pretty dramatic. Oh, it's so good. That's the thing.
- 35:31Speaker 1: I would think because Kurt and Sarah have so much money,
- 35:37Speaker 1: Why not get a hair transplant if it's something that
- 35:39Speaker 1: is bothering you? Yeah, and particularly when Kurt joined Sarah's
- 35:42Speaker 1: YouTube channel, he was kind of like the Ken to
- 35:45Speaker 1: her Barbie. Like he was this pinup guy who was
- 35:49Speaker 1: very fit and he had blonde hair and he had
- 35:52Speaker 1: a tan. He used to rock a fake tan. He
- 35:54Speaker 1: seemed to be very into his appearance. I think as
- 35:56Speaker 1: he's gotten older, he hasn't placed as much importance into it.
- 36:00Speaker 1: A side note, I'm a bit of a fan of
- 36:02Speaker 1: the videos on TikTok where bald men go and get
- 36:06Speaker 1: the wigs done. Oh, those glue-on ones? Yeah, and you're
- 36:08Speaker 1: shocked at how much better they look. Sorry, I know
- 36:10Speaker 1: that sounds really harsh, but it's a dramatic transformation for
- 36:14Speaker 1: some men. I mean, some men absolutely rock a bald head.
- 36:16Speaker 1: I mean, you think of David Beckham. He looks great
- 36:19Speaker 1: with his buzz cut. Well, there's those guys that actually
- 36:21Speaker 1: get the sort of hair stubble tattooed onto it and
- 36:25Speaker 1: it actually looks really good.
- 36:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:27Speaker 1: The thing is, I think a lot of people assume
- 36:29Speaker 1: that this was also a hair transplant due to the
- 36:31Speaker 1: fact that Sarah was saying, look out for my video.
- 36:34Speaker 1: There's something coming. Maybe people thought that there was some
- 36:37Speaker 1: sort of sponsorship deal with a surgeon, which I mean,
- 36:41Speaker 1: I would have thought that maybe surgeons would be reaching out,
- 36:43Speaker 1: particularly surgeons in Australia who might be trying to generate
- 36:46Speaker 1: interest in it because a lot of people are flying Turkey,
- 36:48Speaker 1: but you could get it done in Australia. Also, because
- 36:50Speaker 1: back in the day, Sarah got a deal for Kurt
- 36:53Speaker 1: with a dentist that got his teeth straightened. Yeah. Sarah
- 36:57Speaker 1: definitely knows how to generate engagement. She's always been very
- 37:00Speaker 1: good at it and she knows what her audience wants.
- 37:02Speaker 1: So when she dropped her latest YouTube video, she included
- 37:06Speaker 1: in the title Kurt's bald. So people automatically wanted to
- 37:10Speaker 1: click on it and they decided to address the news
- 37:13Speaker 1: with humor, which I quite enjoyed. Let's throw to a
- 37:15Speaker 1: snippet of what they said. We have major, major family
- 37:20Speaker 1: news and I'm really sorry. You guys didn't even get
- 37:22Speaker 1: to say goodbye and it's going to be a jump
- 37:24Speaker 1: scare and it may be, it may really emotionally affect
- 37:27Speaker 1: a few people on the channel. But, Kurt is bald.
- 37:32Speaker 1: Now there's a conspiracy going around on the comments. They're like,
- 37:35Speaker 1: he's bald because he's getting a hair transplant. Nah, I
- 37:38Speaker 1: just shaved it all off to get rid of it.
- 37:39Speaker 1: tell us the story i was in the gym i
- 37:42Speaker 1: took my hat off my hair was just sitting in
- 37:43Speaker 1: a weird position and i was like not stuff this
- 37:45Speaker 1: i'm getting rid of it so i messaged sarah i
- 37:47Speaker 1: said tell the boys get the shaver out so what
- 37:51Speaker 1: he shaved his head at the gym no no no
- 37:53Speaker 1: he waited until he got home and he got fox
- 37:56Speaker 1: and malachi his sons to each take turns at shaving
- 37:59Speaker 1: his head so he knelt down in the shower so
- 38:01Speaker 1: that the hair would all go in there whilst they
- 38:03Speaker 1: were shaving his head and you could tell he was
- 38:06Speaker 1: almost regretting it as it was going on. Cause Sarah's like,
- 38:08Speaker 1: are you sure that you want to do this? And
- 38:10Speaker 1: he's like, not really. Oh God. So is that why
- 38:13Speaker 1: it was such a close shave? Because they probably had
- 38:15Speaker 1: these kids hacking at it and they're like, well, we're
- 38:17Speaker 1: going to have to just go right to the scout.
- 38:19Speaker 1: Maybe it'll look better once it grows back a little bit. Oh,
- 38:21Speaker 1: I think it definitely will. He's a nice looking guy.
- 38:23Speaker 1: He's got a nice face. Like, of course, he'll be
- 38:25Speaker 1: able to rock the bald head. It just needs a
- 38:26Speaker 1: bit more stubble to go through. I love that they
- 38:28Speaker 1: actually address the conspiracy theories. I'm a fan of when
- 38:31Speaker 1: influencers actually touch on what everyone's been saying in the
- 38:33Speaker 1: comment section instead of just ignoring it. Yeah, well, good
- 38:36Speaker 1: on him. I kind of like that he just dealt
- 38:38Speaker 1: with it like a band-aid straight off. I also had
- 38:41Speaker 1: to laugh when their son Fox was like, you're bold, brother,
- 38:44Speaker 1: you're bold. That was pretty funny. Well, that is where
- 38:48Speaker 1: we are going to leave things today. But if you
- 38:49Speaker 1: do want to hear more content from us, as we
- 38:52Speaker 1: mentioned at the start of the episode, we drop a
- 38:54Speaker 1: subscriber-only episode every Thursday. It is now available on our
- 38:58Speaker 1: Spotify feed, much easier to subscribe to. If you do
- 39:02Speaker 1: want to subscribe, all the details are in the show notes. Again,
- 39:05Speaker 1: that show is just an extension of this show, basically. Yeah.
- 39:08Speaker 1: And I think we're a bit more unhinged on there.
- 39:09Speaker 1: Is that the right word? Unhinged or just a bit
- 39:11Speaker 1: more unfiltered? Unfiltered is probably a nicer way to say it.
- 39:14Speaker 1: When we have our discussions about what topics we're going
- 39:16Speaker 1: to cover on the regular shows, we're always like, oh,
- 39:19Speaker 1: maybe just save that one for the subs. I think
- 39:20Speaker 1: I feel more comfortable talking about it on the subs.
- 39:23Speaker 1: It's pretty good timing because my son is waking up
- 39:25Speaker 1: for his two-hour nap. He's decided to start screaming. So
- 39:28Speaker 1: perfect timing. I'm very impressed with him. Thank you. It's
- 39:31Speaker 1: been quite relaxing recording the podcast. He is throwing his
- 39:34Speaker 1: legs around in there at the moment, so I better
- 39:36Speaker 1: go in. But this episode was recorded on the traditional
- 39:38Speaker 1: land of the Kaurna people of the Adelaide Plains. We
- 39:41Speaker 1: pay respect to elders past and present.
