- 0:00Speaker 1: Well, good evening, listeners. Thank you again, as always. I'm
- 0:03Speaker 1: so grateful for all you guys who have built this
- 0:06Speaker 1: podcast up, who listen, who watch. And I've just been,
- 0:11Speaker 1: you know, falling across so many different stories this year,
- 0:15Speaker 1: and they're so different. But I came across Dawn Wilcox,
- 0:20Speaker 1: who's on the screen, and then for those listening, you'll
- 0:22Speaker 1: hear her voice.
- 0:24Speaker 2: For crime victims, and Polly was... abducted and murdered years ago,
- 0:28Speaker 2: or John Walsh, whose son Adam was killed, and all
- 0:33Speaker 2: the parents who have taken this immeasurable grief and used
- 0:40Speaker 2: that to propel change. The Amber Alert system that was
- 0:48Speaker 2: named after a little girl who was actually, I think,
- 0:50Speaker 2: murdered here in Texas. So those are the um, those
- 0:58Speaker 2: are the good things that have come out of these
- 1:02Speaker 2: horrible situations. And I'm always, um, amazed at the strength
- 1:10Speaker 2: of families who, um, want their loved one to remember,
- 1:15Speaker 2: be remembered, not just for what happened to them, but
- 1:18Speaker 2: to be remembered for who they were as, as women
- 1:21Speaker 2: and as girls. And, uh, which I think is, uh,
- 1:28Speaker 2: really meaningful. Um, cause I, I can't imagine what they
- 1:34Speaker 2: go through every mother's day, every birthday, every anniversary of
- 1:38Speaker 2: their death. Every, um, I read about a little girl
- 1:42Speaker 2: who was the other day. I took a little girl
- 1:46Speaker 2: who was, um, she had gone to the store to
- 1:50Speaker 2: buy like Laffy Taffy. And, you know, you think about
- 1:53Speaker 2: being a parent and anytime you go into a store
- 1:55Speaker 2: and you see Laffy Taffy, you know, Just things like that, yeah.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, I'm so grateful for the work you do
- 2:09Speaker 1: and the way you personalize something that is so... It
- 2:16Speaker 1: seems so inhuman and yet... we are so wicked. Like
- 2:21Speaker 1: people are just, we're, we're my opinion because I think,
- 2:26Speaker 1: especially coming from a place of believing in God, like
- 2:30Speaker 1: seeing what man is capable of doing is so frightening.
- 2:35Speaker 1: You know, we, we love to detach kind of similar
- 2:39Speaker 1: to what you're saying earlier about serial killers. Like, Oh,
- 2:40Speaker 1: they're just their own little genre of people. It's like, no, no,
- 2:46Speaker 1: There is almost everyone, first of all, has had a
- 2:49Speaker 1: friend or has been touched by sexual assault, murder in
- 2:51Speaker 1: some way. You can't go too far down the chain
- 2:54Speaker 1: before you've connected. And then outside of that, someone has
- 2:59Speaker 1: that capacity in them. Like you said, it's a choice.
- 3:03Speaker 1: It's not something that comes upon them like a cloud
- 3:06Speaker 1: or they just suddenly don't understand what they're doing. Most
- 3:09Speaker 1: of the time, it's a decision they make. They've decided
- 3:12Speaker 1: to do it. you know, and it's so important.
- 3:15Speaker 2: And sometimes it feels like premeditated too.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:20Speaker 2: A lot of times very premeditated. And that's why it's
- 3:22Speaker 2: so important.
- 3:25Speaker 1: It's so important to show the responsibility and also to
- 3:28Speaker 1: give names to the women, because regardless of what you
- 3:33Speaker 1: said earlier about how some people do blame the women,
- 3:35Speaker 1: like how they dressed, where they were, what they did,
- 3:38Speaker 1: why they didn't do this, who they didn't talk to.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Their choices don't determine what another person's choices are. And whatever,
- 3:48Speaker 1: each person's choice is his own. And so I think
- 3:52Speaker 1: that's just such an important thing to remember. Because you're right,
- 3:56Speaker 1: it's so easy to try to find an explanation or
- 3:59Speaker 1: blame when really it was just that somebody wanted to
- 4:02Speaker 1: kill someone, they did. That was it.
