- 0:00I created so many hurdles when truthfully that really was just
- 0:03me being super insecure. I felt if it wasn't
- 0:06professional, if it wasn't dialed in, that people wouldn't
- 0:10respect me. I wasn't very in tune with
- 0:11myself when I started this podcast.
- 0:13I think ambition to me was like 7 figures and like high cash
- 0:16months and like all this. Like if I could be really
- 0:18candid, like surface level shit. A surprise for me was also
- 0:21realizing how freeing it is to just be fucking real.
- 0:25I am seeing people noticing that like I deserve a break.
- 0:28I deserve grace. I deserve support.
- 0:31Do you see her? Like, do you see how great she
- 0:34is? Do you see what she's possible
- 0:35of? I think now ambition to me is
- 0:38about the ability for us as women to be in the relentless
- 0:43pursuit of our greatness. One of the hardest decisions
- 0:46that we can do as women and as entrepreneurs is to take a step
- 0:50in something when we don't have the pieces.
- 0:52Ambitious or ambition is not something you do.
- 0:56It's something you are. It's something that your
- 0:58identity is. It's in your being.
- 1:01Hello and welcome back to the Ambitious Podcast.
- 1:03I cannot believe I'm going to say this, but we have hit 100
- 1:07episodes of the Ambitious Podcast and reflecting on that,
- 1:12number one, that's crazy. Time flies when you're having
- 1:15fun, but I also feel like in celebration of today's episode,
- 1:19I want to do something that is not just a typical, you know,
- 1:23structure that we always do, not a typical guest episode.
- 1:26Today we're going to be riding solo.
- 1:28You and I, we're going to be discussing really the reflection
- 1:33that I have had on a professional level, personal
- 1:36level insights of guests and everything in between when it
- 1:40comes to this podcast because this podcast originally was full
- 1:46transparency. A strategy move for the
- 1:50business, but the beautiful thing about it has been that it
- 1:54has allowed me to grow in so many other areas and I've seen a
- 1:58lot of transformation and truthfully so many things even
- 2:01outside of anything business and strategy wise.
- 2:04So today for the episode, I'm going to be going through a
- 2:08series of questions that are, you know, partially reflection,
- 2:13partially just things that even people have asked me in
- 2:16reference to the podcast. And I want to be fully
- 2:19transparent. I have no idea what these
- 2:21questions are. I literally had them in a doc
- 2:24that I have not viewed until this very moment.
- 2:26So these are going to be fully unfiltered and fully off the
- 2:29cuff. So right now, looking at it,
- 2:32they are broken into a couple different core categories.
- 2:34So one is the origin of the podcast and the evolution of it.
- 2:38We're also going to be talking about some mindset aspects and
- 2:40the changes I've seen, some realities of what I have
- 2:44witnessed and what I've experienced being behind the
- 2:46microphone. The insane, incredible things
- 2:50that I've seen in the bucket of our community here with the
- 2:52Ambitious Podcast and the amazing people I've been able to
- 2:55connect with. And then also just some some
- 2:58lessons as well as which I think is the the fun part.
- 3:01What is the future of the Ambitious Podcast and the
- 3:04Ambitious community? So with all that being said,
- 3:07let's get into the episode. OK, so let's start with the
- 3:11first category, which is really the origin.
- 3:14What made me start the ambitious podcast.
- 3:16Well, truthfully, if I'm gonna be really candid, I feel like I
- 3:21kept getting feedback from people that they didn't feel
- 3:25like my Instagram was a fair representation of who I was and
- 3:29like, valid. That's so, that's so valid
- 3:32because I I will be, Yeah. I'll be honest.
- 3:36I don't love making content like I know that I should for the job
- 3:39that I have. I always had hopes that that
- 3:41would change in me, but I just don't love it.
- 3:43I don't love filming. I don't love making content
- 3:47that's short little pieces of content.
- 3:49And the ambitious podcast was partially #1A way for me to film
- 3:54like a long video where I could kind of just rant and not feel
- 3:57like I had to speak in 62nd increments.
- 4:00And for me, that style was very helpful because then I could
- 4:04chop it into little pieces that were bite size and valuable.
- 4:07But that for me was the content strategy side.
- 4:11The other side that I think was my, my main objective.
- 4:14Sorry if you see me if you're watching this, I am picking for
- 4:18anybody who has big dogs. I have two big dogs and I
- 4:20literally I find pieces of dog hair like on my lip gloss, like
- 4:23in my, my own hair on my face. It's brutal, but I digress.
- 4:28Strategy bucket number one was long form chopped into short
- 4:31form. That was something that I I
- 4:34really wanted because I didn't like creating short form
- 4:36content. But the other part of it was
- 4:38that I had so many comments from people who would say once they
- 4:42met me in person or once they spent some time with me, even
- 4:45sometimes in a coaching setting, that they'd be like, oh, man,
- 4:48like, you're nothing like your Instagram.
- 4:49Like, you're just like more down to earth or you're more heart
- 4:51centered or you're more like approachable, whatever it might
- 4:54be. And there was this kind of
- 4:56description of like a softness when someone got to spend time
- 5:00with me that I feel like didn't translate to social media.
- 5:03And so I did ask myself, I was like, how do I allow people to
- 5:06feel like they know me, not just what I do for people?
- 5:10And I found like that, again, it was really hard to create that
- 5:14depth and that connection in a 30 to 62nd video.
- 5:18And I know that you can do it. It's just not the natural style
- 5:21of how I would like to do it. And so I think there was an
- 5:24aspect of content creation for sure, but there was also like, I
- 5:28just felt really misunderstood. And because I like to mass
- 5:32create content and like batch content, I was using photo shoot
- 5:35photos and I was using like media from 2-3 weeks earlier.
- 5:39And so nothing felt really, yeah, like connected to me as a
- 5:42person in a deep way. And so I thought, how do I make
- 5:46this make sense from a content perspective for me?
- 5:48But then how do I make sure that like I really truly have a space
- 5:51to authentically be myself? And this became that place for
- 5:56me. And so I would say the first
- 5:58couple episodes have ambitious. I'm going to be really honest.
- 6:00I was like, I'm a little newscaster over here.
- 6:03I'm going to have my little microphone.
- 6:05I'm going to have my questions that I ask and I'm going to, you
- 6:08know, just facilitate. But what I really discovered was
- 6:13like this became me hanging out with you.
- 6:17And that was something that I really look forward to and that
- 6:19I feel like, you know, you and I get to spend time together while
- 6:23you're going on a walk or you're in the car or you're working.
- 6:27And I just felt like I got to like hang out with like my
- 6:31business girlfriends, if I could put it that way.
- 6:33And so then that became what I actually enjoyed about it is
- 6:37like pouring into you, sharing insights with you, sharing my
- 6:41experiences, experiences of the women in my world with you.
- 6:45And over time, while it was strategic initially, it became
- 6:49so much more than that to me, which I think truthfully fueled
- 6:53why I wanted to pour so much energy into prepping episodes
- 6:57and getting specific guests and things like that.
- 7:00Because yeah, it, it didn't become a business move anymore.
- 7:03It became like this bigger mission and this deeper.
- 7:06Why for me, very quickly after the first, I would probably say
- 7:10like 10 episodes that we recorded.
- 7:12Another question was, do you remember what you were feeling
- 7:15before you recorded episode 1? Full transparency, I was pooping
- 7:18my pants. Like I was so nervous.
- 7:22I was so nervous. I felt like, like I said, I felt
- 7:25like I was like a little newscaster and I was sitting
- 7:27here being like, hey, like I have to make sure that I speak
- 7:29really well and that I look at the camera and that, you know,
- 7:32like my posture is good and that I'm not with the Umm's and A's
- 7:35and whatever. And I've talked about this
- 7:39before, but I, I do feel disappointed in myself that I
- 7:43didn't do the podcast earlier because if I had, I would have
- 7:47been able to talk to you earlier and I would have been able to
- 7:50spend time with you earlier. And, you know, I would have been
- 7:54able to craft this amazing community of women earlier.
- 7:58And so I kick myself that I didn't do that because getting
- 8:01messages from you listening to the episode and saying, hey,
- 8:04this landed for me. Or like, I'm going to take this
- 8:06quote and go live by it. Or like I've had people who've
- 8:08messaged me from the episode and said, hey, this episode, you
- 8:11know, had me promote A-Team member, let go of a team member.
- 8:15I walked away from a relationship because of this
- 8:17episode. And like, I realized I deserve
- 8:19better. Like I would have never fathomed
- 8:22that that would be possible. But that was all because I just
- 8:25was like, OK, let's do the episode.
- 8:27Let's just go. And before I recorded, I had
- 8:29this big idea that I need this crazy set and I needed this, you
- 8:33know, really good camera and all this tech.
- 8:35And like, I created so many hurdles when truthfully, that
- 8:40really was just me being super insecure.
- 8:42If I could be it, be really honest about it.
- 8:44It was that I felt if it wasn't professional, if it wasn't
- 8:48dialed in, that people wouldn't respect me.
- 8:51Or maybe they wouldn't. Yeah, they wouldn't be wowed by
- 8:53it. I felt like there would be
- 8:54judgment maybe on some level. And so I think I put a lot of
- 8:57hurdles before episode 1. And I had a lot of preconceived
- 9:00idea of what made an effective podcast, what made a helpful
- 9:04podcast. And I actually had somebody who
- 9:07reached out to me the other day and it literally brought me to
- 9:10tears because she said, you know, Kate, I just want to say
- 9:11thanks so much for your podcast because it's literally one of
- 9:13the top three podcasts that I listen to.
- 9:16And like, for me, when I got that message, I was like, this
- 9:21makes me want to just like run through a wall for you.
- 9:22Like it really did. It puts so much fire in me to be
- 9:26like, how can I better help you? How can I better serve you?
- 9:28And so I said to her, you know, what are the things that you
- 9:31found helpful? What do you feel like you want
- 9:33to learn more of? Like just any feedback that you
- 9:35have, like this is a show for you.
- 9:37And I would say from the first episode that I recorded, I would
- 9:41have never imagined that it could have bloomed into such a
- 9:44beautiful connection with so many amazing women.
- 9:47And so I think if I had known then what I know now, I would
- 9:53have started so much earlier, so much earlier because the the
- 9:57blessings that it's brought versus the, you know,
- 10:02bottlenecks that I've experienced.
- 10:03There's no comparison. Like it's just it's all been
- 10:06blessing with the podcast. You know, another question I had
- 10:09was, did I have a fear about starting?
- 10:11And, and yeah, it was definitely that no one was going to care to
- 10:14listen. I was like, how do I make this
- 10:16valuable? And do people care?
- 10:18And even truthfully now I struggle with that a little bit.
- 10:20Like sometimes even this episode, I think to myself, OK,
- 10:23are these questions that are going to be valuable to you?
- 10:25Are you going to care about these answers?
- 10:27Like I always have a little bit of insecurity.
- 10:29I think in that way, because my number one metric for my
- 10:32business, for my brand is that I want people to feel that when
- 10:37they listen to me and when they consume me, that they know that
- 10:39they're home, that they have like a space that is really
- 10:42about them, that they're not feeling that you you press an
- 10:45episode of mine, you feel like you're being sold to the entire
- 10:48time. Because I know those podcasts
- 10:49all too well. It's like, here's what I did and
- 10:51here's what my client this and here's my program and here's my
- 10:55framework and here's my whatever.
- 10:57And I just never wanted the podcast to be that.
- 11:01And so I think one of the things that was my fear starting was
- 11:03that it wouldn't be valuable. And I think to an extent, I
- 11:06still have that fear today, which is that, you know, I
- 11:08always want to make sure that anything that I put out on the
- 11:11podcast, I'm not doing just to check the box that I got an
- 11:14episode out, but that it really is valuable.
- 11:18And so when I first started, the vision for the podcast was the
- 11:21fact that I, as I said, wanted to have, you know, shorter form
- 11:24content. I wanted to have an ability for
- 11:27people to really get to know me. But I think how it's evolved is
- 11:30I realized that women need a space to have the holistic view
- 11:36of them honored. And when I first started, I
- 11:39didn't know if I wanted it to be a business podcast.
- 11:41Did I want to be like a women's podcast?
- 11:43Like what did what did I want it to be?
- 11:45And I, I feel like I really struggle with that because I
- 11:46didn't know. And I think over time it now,
- 11:51the vision of it has changed because I realized, yes, you
- 11:53know, obviously, you know, I love to talk strategy.
- 11:55I love a good framework. I love a good structure, but I
- 11:59think that, you know, as time progresses and the more women I
- 12:03meet with, the more women that I coach, the more women I see it
- 12:06like our dinners or our retreats and the deep conversations that
- 12:09we have. I realized like we are so multi
- 12:13dimensional. We have so much that impacts our
- 12:16business. And so while I definitely want
- 12:18to lead in the business aspect, our trauma impacts our business,
- 12:23our physical body and our, you know, hormones impact our
- 12:27business, our worries about having a family and growing our
- 12:31family, starting a family and our age and like what is the
- 12:34right time to do that? That impacts the way that we
- 12:37look at our business, how we grow our business, our
- 12:39relationships impact our business.
- 12:41So when I started to think about I'm going to teach strategy, I
- 12:45felt like it wasn't an honor to us as women and the reality of
- 12:49how much we navigate and how much our lives and the other
- 12:53aspects outside of strategy influence our ability to grow a
- 12:57business. And so one of the things that I
- 13:00think has changed is initially I wanted it to be a business
- 13:03podcast. And I realized over time that I
- 13:06wasn't actually honoring women in business by only talking
- 13:09about business because if I did, it meant that there was a lot of
- 13:14things that they weren't being seen in.
- 13:17And so I found even for myself when I was a business owner, I
- 13:21would have like 1 podcast I listened to for strategy.
- 13:24I'd have another one I listened to for personal development,
- 13:26another one that I listened to for like physical health.
- 13:29And I literally sat there. I'm like, what about like the
- 13:31one place where someone feels like at home, they kind of get
- 13:35all the flavors of what they need.
- 13:37And so now to talk to an expert about paid advertising and then
- 13:42talk to someone about, you know, the realities of fertility and
- 13:45then talk to someone else about understanding how to reprogram
- 13:48our subconscious. Like all of those are the the
- 13:51tools, the conversations, the insights that can be really
- 13:55helpful to us as women. And so I'm just excited to kind
- 13:58of see and expand that vision and see where it can go.
- 14:01There was a question as well. When did you realize that the
- 14:03show is becoming something really real?
- 14:04And I truthfully like getting messages from someone who
- 14:11listens to it or like seeing people share that they're
- 14:13listening to it on their stories initially was like confusing for
- 14:17me. And that's going to sound really
- 14:18weird, but like, I sometimes forget that people are listening
- 14:22to this. Like I sometimes forget that
- 14:23you're tuning in every week. And like, thank you if you do
- 14:26for like you OG listeners, you know who you are.
- 14:29Thank you. Because I again, I think I just
- 14:32had this belief of like, is anyone going to find this
- 14:34valuable? Is this going to be helpful for
- 14:36people? And so then to see this like,
- 14:39you know, kind of confirmation of like, I put this out into the
- 14:41world and it's being received was so OK.
- 14:44Whoa, like there's something happening here.
- 14:46And having conversations with people about, you know, oh, we
- 14:49should do like a merch line of like ambitious.
- 14:52I was like, whoa, like this is it really just kind of started
- 14:56to take a life of its own. And I realized that there's a
- 14:59big difference between content and community.
- 15:01That's what I learned is that, you know, I am not like a Mel
- 15:06Robbins exposure at the moment. And the reason I say at the
- 15:10moment is the girl can manifest OK, but I'm not a Mel Robbins
- 15:14exposure at the moment. But I have like the most die
- 15:16hard community connected to ambitious and the most amazing
- 15:22women who listen to this and who I connect with every single
- 15:24week. And so I because of that, I'm
- 15:27like, this is as real now as I think it ever will be because I
- 15:32with every message, every share all of that, it was like, wow,
- 15:36this is something that is not just content for people.
- 15:38This is actually a taste of a catalyst of change in a certain
- 15:43area of their life. And so I thought there's a
- 15:45responsibility that comes with that.
- 15:46And so as a result, that's when I really started to take the
- 15:48podcast a lot more serious. What surprised me, which is the
- 15:52question, what surprised me most about podcasting, I think how
- 15:57vulnerable it is. Truthfully, I think it's really
- 16:01easy in podcasting to hide behind a structure or hide
- 16:04behind notes. And you may even have felt this
- 16:07if you've listened to multiple different episodes.
- 16:10You can tell when I'm speaking organically and you can tell
- 16:14when I'm trying to say the right thing.
- 16:16And I've even noticed that about myself, like seeing, I audit
- 16:20some of my own episodes. I will watch some of them back
- 16:22to like kind of see as a consumer, how does it feel when
- 16:25I'm on a walk to listen to it? How does it feel when I'm in the
- 16:27car to listen to it? And also when I'm watching it,
- 16:30does it feel stimulating all of that.
- 16:31So I, I kind of audit myself at times to see like how can I
- 16:34improve? And I, I did notice that about
- 16:36myself, which is that when I speak more organically, it lands
- 16:39more from me listening to it. And so one of the things that
- 16:42surprised me about podcasting is really that like it's a very
- 16:45vulnerable place. Like when you think about the
- 16:47setup of a podcast. I'm here currently as I record
- 16:50this in my basement of my house, you know, in my little studio
- 16:56that I made from purchases off of Amazon.
- 16:59And you know, I, I sit here and I kind of just open up and share
- 17:04with you each week. And originally I again, trying
- 17:09to go strategy heavy, like business podcast, business
- 17:11podcast. I really did think that I could
- 17:15just hide behind strategies. And I realized that there was
- 17:20this like feedback loop. The more vulnerable that I was,
- 17:23the more connected I was to what I was talking about, the better
- 17:26it was received and the more feedback that I got from people.
- 17:29So like when I was more authentic, when I shared more,
- 17:31when I was more real, I got more like this really landed for me.
- 17:35This episode changed everything. Like this gave me insight on X
- 17:39and then when I went surface level and when I went, you know,
- 17:42just like steps and things like that and didn't have any of that
- 17:45connection piece, it wasn't as well received in the sense that
- 17:49there wasn't a lot of feedback coming back.
- 17:51So as a result, when you have that loop happen of like the
- 17:55more vulnerable I am, the more or the more real I am, I should
- 17:58say, the more feedback I get, you kind of start to have this,
- 18:02this pull that's like stretchiness toward being more
- 18:05real to toward being more vulnerable.
- 18:09But truthfully, it's a very exposing feeling.
- 18:11It's a very, it's a very vulnerable feeling.
- 18:13There's many things that I've shared on this podcast over the
- 18:17various episodes and I've wondered, is that too much or
- 18:20should I have said that or, you know, should I be, you know,
- 18:23sharing this experience or mentioning the thing that I did?
- 18:27And a surprise for me was also realizing how freeing it is to
- 18:33just be fucking real. Like, if I could put it that
- 18:36way, Like I just some of the things that I've shared, like
- 18:40the episode that I shared, how I was feeling and like the real
- 18:45ways that I was navigating leaving an engagement.
- 18:47Like, I don't even think you understand how much making that
- 18:52episode for you and sharing my insights and lessons from that,
- 18:56like healed me. And your messages from that
- 18:59episode healed me because it was the first time that I was like,
- 19:06I don't want to have this facade of like, I'm fine and I'm a boss
- 19:09babe and I'm handling it. And I was like, guys, I'm
- 19:11unglued. Like I just was really honest
- 19:14and I was really transparent and that there was such like a
- 19:17beautiful weight that got lifted off of me when I did that.
- 19:21And I felt so, so held, so safe, so supported by the amazing
- 19:27women who reached out and were like, hey, like this episode was
- 19:29everything for me. And they shared their
- 19:31experiences and relationships. And it was like this beautiful
- 19:35healing moment as women. But all of that was started from
- 19:39the first kind of ripping of the Band-Aid, if you will, of me
- 19:43being vulnerable. And so I think what I'm
- 19:45surprised with the podcast is how much it really causes you to
- 19:48open up. There's something almost like a
- 19:50journal in a way. Like when I sit here and I
- 19:52record, I find that I'm really with myself.
- 19:55Like there's no, there's no feedback here.
- 19:57So I'm like, does that land for you?
- 19:58I don't know. Like I don't know till weeks,
- 20:00sometimes months later whether the thing that I said lands for
- 20:04you. So it's difficult because it's
- 20:06like you're sat with yourself and in the moment when you're
- 20:09recording, it's like journaling. You're just like in your words,
- 20:12in your thoughts, in your feelings.
- 20:14And so I think over time, it kind of cracks you open, if I'm
- 20:17going to be honest, because you start to get more and more
- 20:20comfortable. And with that, you start to want
- 20:22to just be more robbed, more transparent, more shares.
- 20:25And it surprised me because I'm not previous this podcast and
- 20:28I've gotten messages from you saying the same thing.
- 20:31You're like, I remember your OG like episode 5 and how you
- 20:35showed up. And then I can see how you show
- 20:37up now and like I have had some of you witness and literally
- 20:41watch my growth week to week in the way that I change how I show
- 20:45up. And that's been part of this
- 20:48podcast. It's been part of you.
- 20:50It's been part of your recommendations, your questions,
- 20:52your feedback and the incredible guests and all of it.
- 20:55So I'm really surprised on how much this podcast has cracked me
- 20:58open, to be honest. Now, if we shift a little bit
- 21:01into more of like the mindset bucket here of like the personal
- 21:04growth of mindset questions, the first one being what does
- 21:08ambition mean to you? Now?
- 21:10I think ambition when I started was very, I wasn't very in tune
- 21:16with myself when I started this podcast.
- 21:18So because of that, I think ambition to me was like 7
- 21:20figures and like hi cash months and like all this, like if I
- 21:23could be really candid, like surface level shit.
- 21:26And I think that I just, I hate the word bot.
- 21:30Like there's the phrase boss babe.
- 21:31But I think that that's kind of indirectly what at the time I
- 21:35was going for, I was kind of like, OK, you know, hit these
- 21:39milestones and like, you know, making sales and marketing and
- 21:43all this stuff. And I remember thinking that
- 21:45that was like I made it. And I think now I would say
- 21:51ambition is about as women being in the relentless pursuit of our
- 21:57greatness, because I think the aspect of relentless pursuit is
- 22:04important because I don't like the idea that we're done.
- 22:08I don't like the idea of like, I hit 100K month, boom, I made it.
- 22:10I'm, I have a 7 figure business, boom, I made it.
- 22:13And I also to the aspect of our greatness.
- 22:17I think that I really have come to appreciate the different
- 22:22flavors of greatness that women have.
- 22:24I have a team member who edits this podcast.
- 22:27She'll she'll know that I'm speaking to her and it's going
- 22:32to make me emotional seeing her in her greatness, running her
- 22:39business while she was pregnant and super nauseous.
- 22:43I remember being on Zooms with her and her being like super
- 22:46quick while I go throw up and seeing the way that she
- 22:52navigated becoming a mom and the way that she navigates
- 22:56motherhood now in being in business and allowing herself to
- 23:00evolve in her identity and to just achieve so much greatness
- 23:07as a woman, as a partner to her husband, as a mom.
- 23:13Like to just like from the moment I met her years ago when,
- 23:17you know, we were at a very different stage for both of us
- 23:21in our life and in our business to see the person that she's
- 23:23become now. And, and the way that she's just
- 23:27tapped into her, her full greatness of being an incredible
- 23:31entrepreneur and, and managing so much.
- 23:33There's so many times like, I don't know how she's doing it.
- 23:35I don't know how she's doing it. And she just does it with so
- 23:37much grace and she does it with, with just like the softness and
- 23:41a smile on her face the entire time.
- 23:43And she just handles it. And I thought, you know, I don't
- 23:47think that the person who makes X amount per year is more great
- 23:53than her. And so I think that the idea of
- 23:58ambition is often like this. We're chasing X and this idea of
- 24:03destination. And I think what I've come to
- 24:06appreciate is like the relentless pursuit, like she was
- 24:09in constant seeking of discovery of the new version of her,
- 24:12whether conscious or not. And she was evolving and tapping
- 24:16into just like new levels of greatness for her.
- 24:19And you know, as I said, as a partner, as a mom, as a business
- 24:22owner, as a leader for her business.
- 24:25And when I saw that, when I witnessed her in this evolution,
- 24:31it was really profound for me because it made me realize that
- 24:34like as women, we give ourselves boxes of what it means to be
- 24:40ambitious. And especially for women who are
- 24:46moms and who have families, I think many of us just discredit
- 24:51the true power in that and the true ability to be a mom and to
- 24:55be a business owner. And I'm not saying that you
- 24:57don't have ambition if you're not a mom.
- 24:59I'm not a mom. But I think I've just realized
- 25:03there's different flavors of ambition.
- 25:04There's different flavors of goals, there's different flavors
- 25:07of achievements. And I think all too often as
- 25:10women, we kind of get given this prescription of what it means to
- 25:15be ambitious. And it means that you're like in
- 25:18some aspects of, of business, you're like rocking Blazers and
- 25:21you're like at these like crazy photo shoots and all of that.
- 25:24And like, yeah, sure, that's one flavor.
- 25:26You're, you might do stages, you might be like a public speaker
- 25:29and an author and all that. But like, if you're not doing
- 25:31that, that doesn't mean that you're not ambitious.
- 25:34And I think that for me, ambitious has been.
- 25:36So watching her redefine my experience and my witnessing of
- 25:42ambition and it made me really re evaluate what it being
- 25:44ambitious means to me. So I think if I could define it
- 25:47now and truthfully, I just came up with that last 30 seconds,
- 25:51that quote, but it really is that's what it comes from the
- 25:53heart truthfully is just the relentless pursuit of our
- 25:58greatness. And I think the most important
- 26:01aspect of that is what that greatness means to you.
- 26:03And only you know that. And so it's are you relentlessly
- 26:07pursuing what you define to be your greatness?
- 26:11And that's ambition to me. It's a long winded answer, but
- 26:13that's the truth. What's a belief about success
- 26:16that you've completely outgrown that you can't be messy and make
- 26:22progress. Like I, I never shared so many
- 26:27things because I thought it made me less legit.
- 26:30I thought it made me less inspiring less, I don't know,
- 26:35less of a leader. Maybe I would put it like, I
- 26:37think success for me was always to be perfect.
- 26:41And it was to, like have the answers and have it handled and
- 26:44to have, you know, everything squared away.
- 26:47And I realized that success is not about numbers.
- 26:50It's not about perfection. It's not about there never being
- 26:53a problem. It's actually the opposite.
- 26:56It's about honoring the mess and acknowledging the problem and
- 26:59acknowledging the progress and acknowledging the lack of
- 27:02perfection. I think about it like this, like
- 27:04when you're a leader and you say to someone trust me, they don't
- 27:08trust you because you tell them to trust you.
- 27:11They trust you because there's moments when things have not
- 27:14been going well and you go, hey guys, I know things are not
- 27:16going well. I want to be honest with you.
- 27:17They're not going the way that I thought it would go or I had a
- 27:19plan that this was going to be the outcome.
- 27:20I know that that didn't happen and I'm sorry because I know we
- 27:23put a lot of effort into it. But here's what I'm thinking for
- 27:26next steps to pivot it. Like I realized there was a lot
- 27:29of opportunities that showed me that true success is about being
- 27:36your true self within business and in every bucket in your
- 27:41marketing, in in sales, with your team, with your clients.
- 27:44And that cracked me open in the last like year and a half
- 27:47because success to me now is not really about a number.
- 27:52Like there's obviously numbers and targets and goals and
- 27:54milestones that I want to go for just as much as the next person.
- 27:58But I'm like, I'm not going to have my identity tied to this
- 28:01number. I'm going to have it tied to the
- 28:03way that I show up. And for me, that becomes my
- 28:07success metric now, which is my barometer for success is
- 28:11directly linked to my daily, weekly, monthly behavior, not
- 28:16the achievement of the things. Like if I could give you an
- 28:19analogy, it's not about you if your target is $100,000 a year
- 28:23or $100,000 a month. It's not about like, oh, I hit
- 28:27that because if you hit 99,000, you're still an incredible
- 28:30entrepreneur, whether that's per year or per month.
- 28:33It's about how did you show up yesterday and how did you show
- 28:36up last week and how did you show up the last month in your
- 28:40business, in your life, in your relationships.
- 28:42And I think that that really, if that's congruent to the kind of
- 28:47person you want to be and the kind of results you want in your
- 28:49life, you are on your way to the results that you're wanting.
- 28:53And whether that achievement, IE that North Star has happened yet
- 28:58is not the defining factor of whether you're successful.
- 29:01It is the, again, the pursuit. That's I think the main anchor
- 29:04word here is like the pursuit of the success, not the achievement
- 29:07of the yes or no. I did it.
- 29:08And so I think that that's an important factor because I
- 29:12always tell people, if you show me what you do, I'll tell you
- 29:15your goal. So if I ask someone, show me
- 29:18your schedule, show me what you how you eat each day, show me
- 29:22you know how you move your body. Show me how you interact with
- 29:25your partner. That's going to tell me
- 29:27everything I need to know about you.
- 29:28It's going to tell me everything I need to know about your
- 29:30business, everything I need to know about your health,
- 29:33everything I need to know about your relationship because those
- 29:36are the true indicators of where you're going.
- 29:39If you cancel every date night you've ever had, that's a pretty
- 29:43clear indicator of where we're probably going to end up going
- 29:45as a couple. If I ask you to do something and
- 29:48every single time you've got an excuse and you're inconsistent
- 29:50today, this week, this month, I can pretty much tell you where
- 29:53you're going to end up in business.
- 29:55So I think the the behaviors of the now are really the thing
- 29:59that creates the success down the road.
- 30:02So success to me is much less now about a destination and a
- 30:05milestone as it is the monitoring of the pursuit and
- 30:09behaviors that we're doing today, today, this week, this
- 30:13month in an effort to get there. And I think that's important
- 30:17because, you know, I had the classic experience that some do,
- 30:20which is the fact that I went for this big target and it felt
- 30:23like I didn't evolve in the process, even though I hit the
- 30:26target. So like, I did stuff, I made
- 30:30things happen, but I didn't really, like evaluate who I was
- 30:32becoming or how I was behaving in the pursuit of that goal.
- 30:35And I really wish that I had done that.
- 30:37What's the biggest mindset shift that you've made in the last 100
- 30:40episodes? That's like a stretchy one for
- 30:45me. That to me is I have a couple
- 30:49things that come up. I'm just going to go from the
- 30:51heart. What is the biggest mindset
- 30:52shift that you've made in the last 100 episodes?
- 30:54I would say my biggest mindset shift is that my problems in my
- 31:02life are my pathway to the progress I desire.
- 31:07I've had a good amount of problems.
- 31:09What I mean by that is like resistances that have happened
- 31:11in the last year and a half, two years.
- 31:14And I think my perspective around those problems and
- 31:18resistances has changed greatly. And as a result of that, it's
- 31:22allowed me to make more progress.
- 31:25And I think when I started this podcast, I had a different
- 31:30relationship with problems. I'd get frustrated by them, I
- 31:34would be annoyed by them, I'd be stretched, stressed out by them.
- 31:37But now I'm like, OK, like what's the pathway of
- 31:39opportunity here? What's the pathway of growth
- 31:41here? What's the pathway for progress
- 31:42for me here? And I think that that was a big,
- 31:46a big aha moment for me because my relationship to problems
- 31:49changed. And as a result, my progress in
- 31:51those areas that I was experiencing the resistance
- 31:53changed. So I would say my relationship
- 31:56in the correlation between problems and my progress was a
- 31:59big shift mindset wise for me. What's been the hardest part of
- 32:03staying true to your voice? I think knowing if it would be
- 32:07liked. I think I, I've realized in this
- 32:10that I, I, just as much as the next person have a desire to be
- 32:14accepted. I have a desire to be liked.
- 32:16I have a desire to, to say the right thing or make sure it
- 32:19lands. And I've caught myself in
- 32:21moments, you know, wondering if what I really want to say is
- 32:25going to land for someone. And I think for the beginning,
- 32:28like the 1st 15 episodes, I played it very safe.
- 32:30I was saying like very neutral things.
- 32:32Didn't want to be too controversial, didn't want to
- 32:34say anything too spicy because I thought, you know, I don't want
- 32:38to like, ruffle any feathers. But then I realized by saying
- 32:41nothing, I'm not doing anything. Like I'm just this like neutral
- 32:44middle ground, you know, Gray area individual.
- 32:50And I think there's an opportunity for all of us when
- 32:54we think about how to honor our voices.
- 32:55Like what's the thing that you're afraid to say or that you
- 32:58haven't said? Or what's the thing you know to
- 33:01be true that you haven't spoken to?
- 33:03What's the thing that you fear? If you said it out loud, you'd
- 33:07be disliked. And I challenge myself now on
- 33:10what those are and to speak to those because the thing that
- 33:14creates the most impact is truth.
- 33:18And I think that sometimes truth is uncomfortable for people to
- 33:22receive. So as a result, we're not always
- 33:25the one who's excited to jump to say it.
- 33:27But over time, I've realized my voice has gotten stronger
- 33:30because the more that I speak truth for me and kind of release
- 33:35the idea of what that looks like or how that's received, the more
- 33:39authentic I am, the more real I am.
- 33:41And so the more I can kind of, you know, fall asleep at night
- 33:45and be OK with myself when I feel like something was not
- 33:49spoken or I feel like something was not said, I feel out of
- 33:53alignment all day because I realized that like, this is
- 33:56stuck in me. I need to share this.
- 33:58I need to say this. And again, once I do, it's
- 34:00really the only time that I'm actually showing up as me.
- 34:03So I think to stay true to your voice is also part of tuning out
- 34:08the noise. I think one of the the best
- 34:10things I learned is like the reason you can't hear what's
- 34:13true for you is because you're being drowned out by all this
- 34:16other noise. I don't really consume online.
- 34:19I don't really get stuck in these chambers of noise.
- 34:24And that's because if I do, it's a slippery slope for me.
- 34:27If I feel like I have so and so in my ear and I listen to, you
- 34:31know, someone else's video that shows up and that person's now
- 34:34in my mind, that does cloud my ability to say what do I think?
- 34:37And I've noticed recently that when I remove the stimuli from
- 34:42my environment, I'm so clear on who I am and what I want.
- 34:47The only thing that clouds who I am, what do I want, what do I
- 34:51believe? Is this really aggressive or
- 34:54loud or intense or consistent outside stimuli?
- 34:59And so I noticed that when I struggled to have my voice or to
- 35:03know my voice, it often came from the fact that I just had
- 35:06too much of that. So anytime I isolated and got
- 35:08silent, I started to get clear. So I think that that's also
- 35:12something that I would just recommend to you.
- 35:13If you feel that you sometimes struggle to know who you are or
- 35:16to show up the way that you want to, or to say the thing that you
- 35:18know to be true. There could be an invitation for
- 35:21you to start to have some more silence, some more space to sit
- 35:24with yourself so you can turn up that volume of you as a result
- 35:28of turning down the volume of others.
- 35:30How do you keep showing up when motivation dips?
- 35:34I'm not I well, first I realized that I'm not going to be
- 35:36motivated. So I recognize that there's many
- 35:40times, many, many times, but I do not want to do a podcast.
- 35:44There's like in the in the moment, I'm like, I don't want
- 35:46to record this. I don't feel like it.
- 35:48I don't feel like talking. I don't feel like, you know,
- 35:51doing my hair, like I don't feel like doing this right now.
- 35:54But when I start to press record and I start talking, every
- 36:00single time I feel like let's go, like I, I, I feel excited to
- 36:03record, I feel excited to share. So I think part of it is like
- 36:07sometimes we kind of create this like what I consider to be
- 36:11catastrophizing. Like we make things up to be so,
- 36:13so difficult, so intense, so overwhelming in our head.
- 36:15And then when you go to do them, you go, oh, OK, that wasn't that
- 36:17bad. So I think there's that portion
- 36:20which I recognize that like my brain is doing mental gymnastics
- 36:23before I actually press go. So to be cognizant of that, I
- 36:28think truthfully, a thing that does help me as well is
- 36:32realizing that this is also not just about me.
- 36:36When I got a message from someone that says, I literally
- 36:39wait for every Thursday episode to come out.
- 36:42I, I literally have had moments where I had a moment of weakness
- 36:46and I was like, well, if we skip an episode, it's not a big deal.
- 36:48But then I think about like, you know, Sarah, who listens and is
- 36:51like, where's the episode this week, right?
- 36:53And just kind of feeling like I let somebody down and I realized
- 36:57that I, I don't want to ever feel like this is about me.
- 37:02And I think that every time that I'm like, I don't feel like
- 37:04doing like this and I don't feel like that it's like this is not
- 37:06about me. And so I think there's many
- 37:08instances in our life that that's the case, right?
- 37:10That you want to ask yourself, what is it really about when
- 37:13you're not motivated? And when I'm not motivated for
- 37:17something, when I anchor into the actual why of why I'm doing
- 37:21the thing that I don't want to do, it helps me to get moving.
- 37:24Because when I make it about the small little thing in front of
- 37:27me, like it's not, this is not about, oh, I don't feel like
- 37:30recording today. This is about you not recording
- 37:35is you showing yourself that you can't push through how you feel.
- 37:40It's you giving yourself evidence that you're not
- 37:42consistent. It's the ability to have what
- 37:46you made as a promise to someone else that you're not fulfilling.
- 37:50Like there's there's depth to I don't want to.
- 37:54So I then tell myself if I'm going to say I'm going to skip a
- 37:58week, I have to be fully committed to accepting all those
- 38:03truths alongside the truth of I don't want to record.
- 38:07And when I have that conversation with myself, I
- 38:10never don't record. And that's because again,
- 38:13there's a deeper why there's a deeper connection there.
- 38:15OK, Section 3 behind the mic. What has been your favorite
- 38:21episode to record and why? I think I mentioned it earlier,
- 38:24but I think that there was a couple episodes that were more
- 38:27relationship driven, mindset driven.
- 38:29That was like the first time that I was really actually
- 38:31vulnerable. And I would literally remember
- 38:32messaging some of the team members being like, I don't know
- 38:35about this episode. Please let me know what you
- 38:37think. Please let me know if this lands
- 38:38for you because I was so scared. I was so scared.
- 38:41Full transparency, I was freaking out because I don't do,
- 38:45I don't, I haven't. I should reuse my wording here.
- 38:48NLP language. In the past, I wasn't great with
- 38:52vulnerability and so when I'd be vulnerable, it would make me
- 38:55very uncomfortable. But then again, when you get
- 38:59that feedback that it resonates with people, you start to
- 39:02realize, OK, wow, like there actually is a value in this,
- 39:05this share. It's not just about sharing it,
- 39:06share it to like dump on people. It's to help people.
- 39:11And so I think that the episode being able to talk about some of
- 39:16those vulnerable things, to be able to share some of the stuff
- 39:18that I've gone through, to be able to speak to how it impacted
- 39:21me as a business owner. It kind of was like this, like
- 39:24Band-Aid, this like ripping of, of a Band-Aid of creating relief
- 39:27because it showed me that like, Oh, I can breathe.
- 39:30I don't feel like I have to show up as, as this person that I'm
- 39:32not right now or to show up. Oh, I feel great when I don't
- 39:36feel great. Like I think that that was, it
- 39:39was such an aspect of relief for me because it allowed me to just
- 39:43truly deeply be authentic and it was a really powerful shift in
- 39:48me, in my life, not even just in the show.
- 39:50What episode stretched you the most as a host?
- 39:57I wouldn't actually say that there is an episode that has
- 40:00stretched me because I feel like if something is stretchy I
- 40:05typically will like kind of like combat, the guest kind of thing.
- 40:08I wouldn't say that there's something that has stretched me
- 40:10as a host. Which episode completely changed
- 40:14the way that you think? I truthfully would say the
- 40:19episode that I did with George, which I highly recommend that
- 40:22everybody go listen to. I think it's a really valuable
- 40:24conversation that I actually want to do a Part 2 of.
- 40:26At some point we had a masculine, feminine discussion
- 40:29about masculine and feminine energy.
- 40:31And I think that that really solidified.
- 40:34I wouldn't say it changed the way I think because I was
- 40:35already kind of starting to see some momentum in that shift of
- 40:37thinking. But I think that that episode
- 40:40really solidified for me the understanding of like the true
- 40:45depth of how masculine and feminine energy impact women in
- 40:48business. Because I think sometimes we
- 40:51don't give maybe like enough credit to one or the other.
- 40:56So like if you're super and you're feminine, you're always
- 40:58in flow and like you're not, you're kind of anti structure.
- 41:00You don't love strategy, you know, being too far on that side
- 41:03is really detrimental to your business, as well as being too
- 41:07far in the side of like in your masculine.
- 41:09We really need that duality. And I think that that
- 41:11conversation and where that went was really impactful because
- 41:16that was something that I think was kind of reflecting my own
- 41:22growth back to me at that time. But it also was something that I
- 41:26think solidified my beliefs around, OK, this is the way that
- 41:29I do want to do business with this kind of duality of both
- 41:31these energies at the same time. What was your biggest podcast
- 41:35fail? So I did have an episode
- 41:39actually with somebody that I was really excited to interview.
- 41:43It was a naturopath episode. And anyway, we had a great time.
- 41:46And then I go into the footage and and realize that her
- 41:50microphone was like not like I. Could hear her when I was
- 41:55recording. But it was just like not
- 41:56connected afterwards when we got the episode.
- 41:59And so the entire episode was awash.
- 42:01And so I think that that was unfortunate.
- 42:06That really sucked. And I think there's obviously
- 42:08been like small things along the way.
- 42:09Like there's, you know, times where I've been like, like I had
- 42:13like false lashes or something on and it was like falling off
- 42:16and like flailing in the wind the entire, the entire episode.
- 42:20And so I'm like, wow, what you gonna do?
- 42:21We just got a 321, you know, put it out.
- 42:23Anyway, it's progress over perfection.
- 42:25So there's definitely been some stuff along the way.
- 42:27Maybe you haven't noticed, but like I definitely noticed.
- 42:29Like I have something on my face, right?
- 42:31Something in my teeth or my eyelash was falling off or
- 42:34whatever. But you know what?
- 42:35At the end of the day, I'm just like 321 put it out and we'll
- 42:38just we'll keep attention to that for next time.
- 42:41What's something no one sees about the podcast process?
- 42:44I think two sides. I think the prep and the post
- 42:48production. I think the prep.
- 42:50The prep is not like I don't just sit here.
- 42:52Typically this is a structure obviously for today's episode,
- 42:54but most episodes like I am researching what topics would be
- 42:58most helpful for you? I am crafting notes, pulling
- 43:01information, making frameworks, stats, helping you to really
- 43:05anchor into what we're talking about.
- 43:07So I think that there's a lot of prep typically of one to two
- 43:09hours that can go into a given episode even before pressing
- 43:13record. Usually the episode itself is
- 43:16also an hour and then yeah, the post production.
- 43:19I full transparency, we have an amazing team that helps to take
- 43:24this episode from the moment I press, you know, stop recording
- 43:27and get this out to people, whether it's to edit the
- 43:29episode, chop it into clip, show notes, caption, social media,
- 43:34stats, analytics, like all of that.
- 43:36Like there's such an incredible team that makes this post
- 43:39production go out. And so I think that it can be
- 43:41really, it can be really easy to see that on social or to see
- 43:44that and be like, oh, like, cool, I want to have a podcast,
- 43:47but you know, podcasts. I, I would not have this podcast
- 43:51if I had to do it on my own. Full transparency, what the
- 43:53reality was in my business when I added this in the sense of the
- 43:55experience of, you know, how busy I was and all of that to
- 43:59think about, you know, drafting the episodes, getting the
- 44:02guests, recording, prepping post production, like posting it all
- 44:07like it just yeah, it it, it really is something that truly
- 44:10is possible and is going as well as it is because of the amazing
- 44:14people that we have behind the screen that are also making it
- 44:17happen. Have you ever wanted to quit and
- 44:20what made you stay? I have wanted to quit, actually.
- 44:28There's definitely been times where I've thought about
- 44:30quitting the podcast. Not my best times.
- 44:33Tell you that typically. Moments where I'm super, super
- 44:35stressed out and I think about like my schedule's really busy
- 44:38or I'm navigating something personally.
- 44:39And then I think about, oh, I need an episode for this week.
- 44:42And I'm like, and I feel stretched in those moments.
- 44:45But when you have a podcast, this is not a short term play,
- 44:48which basically means that the, the growth, the exposure, the,
- 44:53you know, community, all of the amazing things that come with a
- 44:56podcast are not going to happen in your first 20 episodes.
- 45:02They're not going to happen in your first 50 episodes.
- 45:04They're not going to happen in your first, sometimes even 100
- 45:06episodes. I think it was a diary of Aceo
- 45:08post recently that like it took him multiple years before his
- 45:11podcast actually started to take off.
- 45:13And so I think one of the things I recognize when I feel like
- 45:18quitting is that I am quitting before it could be great.
- 45:23And I'm not willing to do that. So I think to myself, you know,
- 45:26what if the difference of this podcast being everything you
- 45:29want it to be is in the next 10 episodes or in the next 5
- 45:33episodes or in the next single episode.
- 45:35What if the difference of this episode and guest is the
- 45:37difference of this podcast being everything you dreamed of to be?
- 45:40And are you really willing to, because of this week or the, the
- 45:44overwhelm you're feeling or the tiredness you're having or
- 45:46whatever, really ready to throw that down the drain in this
- 45:49moment? Like, are you really truly
- 45:51stepping into and confident to say yes to that?
- 45:54And I realize I'm just not. So every time that I have these
- 45:56moments of weakness where I want to give up or when I want to,
- 45:59you know, just say it's not convenient for me this week,
- 46:02It's not because I don't want the podcast has nothing to do
- 46:04with that. I think it's typically centered
- 46:06around the fact that I feel like in the moment, I don't have a
- 46:08lot of capacity. And so, you know, because the
- 46:12podcast is not for most businesses like an instant ROI
- 46:15or like an instant, like we post this, we get 8 leads kind of
- 46:18thing. There's a lot of lack of
- 46:20dopamine associated with it. So like when you go to create
- 46:23it, you're not getting an instant feedback loop of like,
- 46:26oh, sales, money, revenue, right?
- 46:28Like there's an aspect of podcasts for sure.
- 46:30That is an aspect of investment. It's kind of like if you think
- 46:33about building your investment portfolio, when you invest,
- 46:36you're not trying to invest in the stock market to take out all
- 46:38your stocks three months later. You're investing so that 30
- 46:41years down the road, you have a portfolio that's really helpful
- 46:45for you. Well, the same thing is true
- 46:47with podcasting. It is a investment into
- 46:50yourself, into your brand, into your community, into your
- 46:53people. And you're not going to see the
- 46:55dopamine of it and you're not going to see these big quick
- 46:57wins from it the way that you would with other typical
- 47:00marketing channels. But that doesn't mean that it's
- 47:02a reason to not do it because as I said, if you think about some
- 47:05of the biggest podcasts, you know, like Diary of a CEO, his
- 47:09podcast is massive now it has 17,000,000 monthly listeners.
- 47:13Well, that happened because he didn't quit.
- 47:15So the same thing is kind of my perspective when it comes to my
- 47:18show. It's not easy.
- 47:20And because that, again, you're consistent without the dopamine.
- 47:24So I think that that for anybody who has a podcast who's able to
- 47:27do that, I really deeply respect that because it's it's not an
- 47:30easy thing to do, but it impacts so many people.
- 47:32How do you prep or ground yourself before recording?
- 47:36I realize every episode I kind of start like not intentionally,
- 47:40it's not like something I created like a Google Doc, but I
- 47:43kind of start every episode with like it's about them, it's about
- 47:48them, it's about them, it's about them.
- 47:51And I do that because I think that there's a, a tendency often
- 47:56times in marketing for marketing.
- 47:58What I mean by marketing is really any platform where you're
- 48:00talking to people for your brand, it can be a really easy
- 48:04thing to make it very selfish to have everything that you start
- 48:06to talk about be like, look at me and more about me.
- 48:09And here's a story about me. And here's like me, me, me, me,
- 48:11me. And I don't know that that
- 48:16really helps anybody. Like I think that stories can be
- 48:19impactful. I think that stories can be
- 48:20supportive, but I never wanted this to be like the Kate
- 48:25Perkovic show. Like that was never my goal with
- 48:28it, which is why I also, by the way, did not name it the Kate
- 48:31Perkovic Show because I just, I didn't want it to be about me.
- 48:34It wasn't actually about me. It was about like being a
- 48:37channel, a, you know, middleman to bring value to the person who
- 48:41needed it. I ground myself typically in
- 48:45each episode by remembering like it's about them.
- 48:47It's about it being valuable. And anytime that I feel like I'm
- 48:50getting too much involved into talking about me, I typically
- 48:53recenter because is I sometimes will use stories of me to help
- 48:59anchor in a thought, but I never want that to be the basis of the
- 49:02majority of an episode by any means.
- 49:05OK, so let's go into community. What is something you want
- 49:11people to feel after listening to an episode?
- 49:13I would say that the natural answer that's honest for me
- 49:16right now is to feel served. I would want people to feel that
- 49:22that was something that they walked away with an aspect of
- 49:24clarity, that they walked away with an insight, they walked
- 49:28away with a framework, they walked away with education, they
- 49:30walked away with a perspective shift.
- 49:32I would always want anyone who presses play on any episode to
- 49:36feel served in some capacity. And I think for me, if that
- 49:39feeling I knew was consistent for most listeners, that to me
- 49:43is like to find success of the show.
- 49:45How has your audience evolved alongside you?
- 49:50I have seen growth in you actually, because I do talk to
- 49:54many of you each week. I get incredible messages.
- 49:56So I want to thank you. By the way, for anyone who
- 49:58reaches out after any episode, Some people reach out, You know,
- 50:02this episode landed for me. Love this episode plays episode
- 50:04today. So I I get feedback on that.
- 50:06But I think ultimately what I've noticed is that a lot of the
- 50:13women who listen to ambitious are very driven.
- 50:18They are women that are navigating a lot.
- 50:21So you may have a lot of hats that you wear.
- 50:24You may have had a lot of trauma that's happened to you in the
- 50:27last year, 2 years. You may have experienced some
- 50:30trials and some things that were really painful.
- 50:33You could be relationship. We've had women who have are in
- 50:37the process of divorce, who've become divorced.
- 50:40We've had women who have become, you know, first time moms.
- 50:43We've also had people who have gone through multiple rounds of
- 50:47IVF and we've had women who have experienced miscarriages, people
- 50:53who have had partners who've lost their jobs, some of which
- 50:57who've lost their homes due to different circumstances.
- 51:00And there's just been a lot of heaviness that people have had
- 51:03to handle. And one of the.
- 51:06Things that I have. Watched of the people that have
- 51:09reached out to me is the grace for their next step after so I
- 51:17think many of us have felt the shift in business.
- 51:19Things have changed this year. You are still trying to grow
- 51:21your business, but you're also wearing all these hats.
- 51:23All these things are happening at the same time and you go man.
- 51:25I am just feeling like capped feeling at my top of capacity
- 51:29here. What I've noticed is that I
- 51:32think a lot more women are waking up and I think a lot of
- 51:34them that listen to the show maybe in yourself included are
- 51:38having this awareness of like I'm incredible.
- 51:42I am so strong. I am seeing people noticing
- 51:47that, like I deserve a break, I deserve grace, I deserve
- 51:50support, I deserve a moment for myself.
- 51:54I'm seeing women take their power back from not letting the
- 51:59outside influences tell them what ambition is, or tell them
- 52:02what goals are or tell them what achievement is.
- 52:05I'm seeing women demand more integrity and more honesty and
- 52:12to know what their truth is and to ask that truth of those
- 52:14around them, whether that's in a business setting or in a
- 52:17relationship or any of that. And I think more than ever, I
- 52:22see that women desire what is next for them in the sense of
- 52:27that. Many women who listen to
- 52:29Ambitious are not. They're not settlers.
- 52:32They're not people who are like yourself, maybe looking to be
- 52:36like, I'm done. And this is not from a place of
- 52:38ego. It's from a place of you have
- 52:42this pursuit and this desire to unlock this next version of you
- 52:48and this next version of your life and the next reality.
- 52:52And there's also kind of alongside that, this theme of
- 52:55like reinvention that you're open to reinventing yourself for
- 52:59whatever is meant to be for this next chapter of your life.
- 53:02And so it's been really exciting to see.
- 53:04Yeah, it really goes back to, again, you know, the definition
- 53:07of ambition, which is the relentless pursuit of your
- 53:10greatness. And I think that that definition
- 53:14is something I witnessed in women.
- 53:16The more that they listen to this show.
- 53:18And it's not because of me. I want to make that very clear.
- 53:20We have incredible guests who give insight.
- 53:22And there's, you know, even stories we tell that help you to
- 53:26find something in yourself. And I think one of the best
- 53:28things I learned in coaching is that coaching is not telling
- 53:30someone who they are. It's helping them to discover
- 53:32who they were to begin with and. That is really how.
- 53:37I think about what we talk about here.
- 53:38I don't feel that I'm the reason for your growth.
- 53:41I think what I do is I act as a mirror.
- 53:44And so my job is to hold this mirror and say, do you see her?
- 53:48Like do you see how great she is?
- 53:49Do you see what she's possible of?
- 53:51Do you see what she's experienced?
- 53:52Do you see how in pain she is? Do you see how incredible she
- 53:56is? Like my job is to be a mirror
- 54:00for you. And so the growth you have is
- 54:03not because of me. The growth you have is because
- 54:07I'm holding the mirror and I'm just the source of where the
- 54:09mirror comes from. There's other mirrors you could
- 54:12go to, there's other podcasts you could go to, there's other
- 54:13coaching you could go to. You might even have people in
- 54:16your life for a mirror for you. But this show, if you've felt
- 54:20that your life or something has changed or you've gotten an
- 54:22insight from it is not because of what I tell you or a guest
- 54:26tells you. It's because the guests we have
- 54:28or the things I share are acting as a mirror.
- 54:31And So what I've noticed is the more women who look in the
- 54:35mirror, the more they grow, which is like the women who are
- 54:38like, I took this and I integrated it and I took this
- 54:40and I integrated it. And like I did this in my
- 54:42relationship and I did this within my health.
- 54:44When we start to have that mirror more consistent in front
- 54:49of you, you're seeing more of yourself in little bits and
- 54:52pieces every single time you TuneIn.
- 54:55And so that's really how I think about what I'm doing.
- 54:57And also what I'm seeing with people who listen is that they
- 55:00are taking a more conscious look, a more intentional effort
- 55:03to look in the mirror and say, what do I need to see within
- 55:06myself to honor in myself, to overcome within myself for that
- 55:10again, next level of my greatness in the pursuit of
- 55:14achieving my greatness. What does it mean to you to
- 55:18create a space for ambitious women?
- 55:20The only answer I can say that is everything because I always
- 55:25felt I had to. Choose.
- 55:26That's how I would say. It I always felt like I had to
- 55:28choose. I had to choose to learn
- 55:29strategy or I had to choose to be in my feminine or I had to
- 55:34choose to, you know, have this person to talk to me about
- 55:37relationships. And kind of like I talked about
- 55:38earlier, like I just want there to be a room where all of it is
- 55:41welcome. And I think for me, it's so
- 55:45deeply aligned and so deep within my purpose to have that
- 55:49space for us to have all of those conversations.
- 55:51Nothing is off the table. And I think that that's
- 55:54important for us as women that we don't feel like we have to
- 55:56compartmentalize, that we get to be whole in this space.
- 56:00And so for me, it means everything.
- 56:02It's an honor to have someone listen.
- 56:05It's an honor to have someone download a show.
- 56:08It's an honor to have you share this with someone that, you
- 56:10know, like, that's to me, it fills my bucket in a way that I
- 56:16cannot even describe because it really is just the yeah, it's
- 56:20it's such a massive, massive compliment and a massive
- 56:24responsibility to me to have this space.
- 56:26So I do take it very intentionally.
- 56:28And it just it the only thing I can say is it means everything.
- 56:30It means everything to me. OK, last section here.
- 56:34What is a piece of advice that you no longer agree with?
- 56:41I think something I believed. Originally is that the, the
- 56:45experience of your pain must match the experience of your
- 56:48healing. And I don't agree with that.
- 56:52I don't think that the, the, the resistance you feel in business
- 56:55has to match the intensity of how much it's going to take you
- 56:58to come back from this. I don't think that the pain of a
- 57:01relationship ending or not working out has to be correlated
- 57:06to like, oh, this grind, I'm going to have to heal.
- 57:09I don't think the resistance you experience must match the
- 57:12healing of that resistance. So I think that that's something
- 57:15that I originally I associated like the, the depth of the
- 57:18problem is going to match the depth of overcoming it, which
- 57:22are not two things that I correlate to be true anymore.
- 57:24So I think that that's something that I would say I don't agree
- 57:26with What's been the boldest and most uncomfortable decision so
- 57:30far. That's stretchy for me.
- 57:37I would say reinventing myself a year and a half, two years ago
- 57:41just. Makes me want to take a deep
- 57:45breath because. To reinvent.
- 57:48Yourself. Is to have faith in the next
- 57:53version of possibility without any proof that that's possible
- 57:57just yet. And when I left my engagement
- 58:00and my relationship and started over, never lived alone for the
- 58:05first time, you know, I was alone.
- 58:08I was healing. I was trying to navigate
- 58:10business and like I was doing a lot of personal development.
- 58:12So my identity was changing. My relationship has changed.
- 58:15My living experience had changed.
- 58:17I had, you know, my two dogs now that I had to handle on my own.
- 58:20And I was just like, oh, like I just felt stretched.
- 58:23Everything around me felt like the walls were caving in and I
- 58:27had nothing to anchor into of like, what is this new life
- 58:29going to look like? Like I had no clarity of here's
- 58:32how it's going to all come together, right?
- 58:34Like it was just, it was just, yeah, I had just a feeling of,
- 58:38of my possibility for myself and what I could see from my
- 58:41potential. And I think the hardest decision
- 58:44for many women is to move and take action in the pursuit again
- 58:51of your greatness or the pursuit of what's possible for you
- 58:54without really knowing all the steps.
- 58:56Like I said to my therapist when everything happened, I feel like
- 59:00if you think about like a stone pathway into a forest, I feel
- 59:04like I've got 2 stones that I can see.
- 59:06The rest is covered by fog. I know that there are quote UN
- 59:10quote stones there where they are.
- 59:13Don't know how far are they spaced between them?
- 59:15Don't know is there stuff covering them like ice and you
- 59:19know, rocks don't know. Like there was so many unknown
- 59:24things and it was so like, physically, emotionally,
- 59:28mentally terrifying. And I had someone close to me
- 59:34this year or in the last year who left a relationship and
- 59:40watching her basically right after me navigate a similar
- 59:46situation of stepping into her possibility and potential
- 59:51without having it all fared out yet and watching her do it.
- 59:58And again with so much grace. It really showed me that I think
- 1:00:03one of the hardest decisions that we can do as women and as
- 1:00:06entrepreneurs is to take a step in something when we don't have
- 1:00:10the pieces. And many of us did this when we
- 1:00:12started to create our businesses, right?
- 1:00:15We started the business. We had no idea where it's going
- 1:00:17to go. I had no idea that I'd be
- 1:00:19sitting here recording this talking to you and that I would
- 1:00:21have a multiple 7 figure business and all this stuff.
- 1:00:23I had never visioned any of this, but obviously here we are.
- 1:00:28And so I think one of the things that's been really beautiful is
- 1:00:31just to see people take action without the plan in front of
- 1:00:36them. And for me, that was the most
- 1:00:39bold thing to do. And I would have never, I don't
- 1:00:43know where I got the strength to do that, where I got the
- 1:00:44clarity, the conviction to do that.
- 1:00:46Couldn't tell you. But it was so uncomfortable,
- 1:00:50like so uncomfortable. And that is because it caused me
- 1:00:55to only have faith in, you know, truthfully for myself, me or
- 1:01:01God, like it really was, I'm with me, it's just me.
- 1:01:06And I have to have faith that like, I'm going to be good.
- 1:01:09And it doesn't matter what bucket that's in.
- 1:01:11It doesn't have to be relationships, but I think
- 1:01:13there's a massive boldness that comes with that.
- 1:01:15There's a lot of discomfort that comes with that.
- 1:01:17And when you only have you to rely on, it can be powerful, but
- 1:01:22it also can be terrifying because you just don't know
- 1:01:24what's going to happen. So I think that that's what I I
- 1:01:27would say to that. What do you want for?
- 1:01:30Ambitious in. The 100 episodes from now so
- 1:01:33this will be a cool clip to come back to I hope.
- 1:01:38That 100 episodes. From now, I am even more evolved
- 1:01:44as a person that I am now for you so that I can have a new
- 1:01:49level of awareness as the delivery mechanism of
- 1:01:52information to bring you even more insight and value and
- 1:01:57takeaways. I hope that I become a better
- 1:01:59facilitator. I would say is one thing.
- 1:02:02Two, my deepest hope is to grow this community and not from a
- 1:02:07just numbers perspective, but from a allowing women who feel
- 1:02:11lost to feel like they found a place to be would be my number
- 1:02:15one desire in that bucket. And I think more than anything,
- 1:02:20my goal would be 100 episodes from now that you grow alongside
- 1:02:26me. Because I think that my hope
- 1:02:30would be that if you've listened to 200 episodes or something
- 1:02:33within that, that you also 100 episodes from now have become
- 1:02:38somebody different. And that you have a different
- 1:02:40level of awareness. You have a different level of
- 1:02:42insight that allows you to step into a version of yourself that
- 1:02:46you're not right now. And so I would also hope that
- 1:02:50the tools we provide can help you to unlock some aspect of
- 1:02:54your ambition in the process as well.
- 1:02:58And the last question is, if your audience remembers 1
- 1:03:00message from Ambitious, what do you hope it is?
- 1:03:04It sounds silly, but I end every episode with, as always, stay
- 1:03:09ambitious. And I think, you know, it's like
- 1:03:12kind of like a catchy, I would say, marketing line that we had
- 1:03:15originally. But now when I think about it, I
- 1:03:19see it as like a way of living. Stay ambitious.
- 1:03:25Stay. Is different.
- 1:03:28Than become because the goal. Of the word stay.
- 1:03:32Is that you already are there, so you already have achieved
- 1:03:36ambition and it basically. Is when I say that.
- 1:03:40My intention around it is to remain within ambition.
- 1:03:43So if we go back to what our definition was today, ambition
- 1:03:46is defined in my what I mean by it when I say ambitious or
- 1:03:49ambition to me is defined by the endless pursuit of your
- 1:03:54greatness. So if I was to break that down,
- 1:03:59my hope for you with Ambitious is that you stay, you always
- 1:04:05stay in the relentless pursuit of your greatness and I.
- 1:04:12Think it's an easy? Reminder because there's times
- 1:04:16where we get knocked off of that.
- 1:04:18There's times where we feel like we don't have it to be in the
- 1:04:20pursuit of greatness today or that we feel like we're done.
- 1:04:23We've achieved this, like checked the box, right?
- 1:04:25So the stay as I see it is to be anchored into that relentless
- 1:04:31pursuit of your greatness and to have it as a way of being.
- 1:04:34Have it a way as a way of living, have it as an identity
- 1:04:38for yourself. It's not something you do, it's
- 1:04:40something that you are. OK.
- 1:04:43So you are always in relentless pursuit of your greatness as a
- 1:04:47person. It's not like this week I'm
- 1:04:50going to pursue my greatness. It's like it's an identity.
- 1:04:53And I think that for me, what I'd want you to take away from
- 1:04:56ambitious is ambitious or ambition is not something you
- 1:05:01do. It's something you are.
- 1:05:03It's something that your your identity is.
- 1:05:06It's in your being. So I would ask to look at where
- 1:05:11am I trying to do ambition versus how can I be ambition?
- 1:05:17And that's again because doing is associated with completion.
- 1:05:21Being is a state of reinvention. It's a state of, it's a state of
- 1:05:25being. It's a state that you bring to
- 1:05:28each thing that you touch, which is why it impacts you as a mom,
- 1:05:32you as a partner, you as a friend, you as you know, in your
- 1:05:35health, in your own personal development, in your business
- 1:05:38with your team, with your clients.
- 1:05:39Like it's this constant thing. And that's because it's
- 1:05:42something you carry. It's a, it's something that
- 1:05:44you're bringing into every situation in front of you.
- 1:05:47And so if I could leave you with anything, it is to remember that
- 1:05:51it is a state of being and it is not something that you do.
- 1:05:54So 100 episodes, that's kind of crazy.
- 1:05:58It's a big milestone and I'm very excited for when we do a 2
- 1:06:02point O of this episode at 200 episodes and 300 episodes and
- 1:06:05400 episodes. I just want to say more than
- 1:06:08anything to close off today, a massive thank you.
- 1:06:10There are a lot of podcasts on the Internet that you could
- 1:06:12listen to. There's a lot of shows that you
- 1:06:14can tune into and to have those of you who tune into this every
- 1:06:18single week to listen to myself, to the guest, to, you know, take
- 1:06:22the time out of your day to shoot us messages, to share your
- 1:06:24insights and your feedback. I want you to know that every
- 1:06:27single one of you and if you are listening to this are
- 1:06:29appreciated. And so I just want to say thank
- 1:06:32you because none of what we're doing would be possible without
- 1:06:35you. None of what we will do one day
- 1:06:37is possible without you. And so I just want to say a
- 1:06:40massive thank you more than anything.
- 1:06:42And with that being said, we will see you on the next
- 1:06:45episode. And as always, stay ambitious.
- 1:06:49Thank you.
