- 0:21God. We don't even want it, Father,
- 0:24but all we care about is Jesus Christ high and lifted up above

- 0:46and we receive salvation. God, we thank you for giving us
- 0:51Jesus and the blood that covers us from the top of our head to

- 0:59atom, all, all of the cellular level.
- 1:01God, we give it all over unto you.
- 1:03Lord, we repent. Lord, we lay ourselves prostate

- 1:24Lord, we trim our Wicks, we fill the lamps.
- 1:28God, we wait upon you. Lord, we see our redemption
- 1:31drawing near. We see the leaves on the fig
- 1:33tree. God, and we just wait, Father,
- 1:35but help us to wait. Well.
- 1:37Help us to be out in the harvest.
- 1:39God, help us to come out there. God, beckon us out on the water.
- 1:43Let us walk with you. Father, everywhere that you go,
- 1:46let us not be overcome and overwhelmed.
- 1:49God, break off depression and anxiety.
- 1:51God break off perversion. God, break off spiritual pride
- 1:56in the name of Jesus. God, I pray that we'll be the
- 1:59spiritual leaders of our families.
- 2:01God, help us to walk with you in all arenas, in every single
- 2:05season, in all circumstances. God, for you are preeminent.
- 2:09You are worthy to be praised. You are our everything.
- 2:13God, speak to us today. God, I pray that you will
- 2:16strengthen the church, strengthen the family.
- 2:19Lord, I pray for marriages. God, I pray for the prodigals to
- 2:23return home. God, I pray that righteous
- 2:26leaders will take residence in the land.
- 2:29We love you, Father, and it's in your holy and precious and
- 2:32powerful name we pray King Jesus, Amen.
- 2:36Well, let's start in verse one. When it came to pass at that
- 2:42time that Judah went down from his brothers and turned to a
- 2:46certain Abdullah might, whose name was Hydra.
- 2:50So here we're going to get to see why God is going to send
- 2:53this family down into Egypt for 400 years and into slavery and
- 2:59bondage. You're going to get to see why
- 3:01because they were starting to get polluted and diluted.
- 3:04They were starting to get washed out, friends.
- 3:07And we're going to see it right here in this story, verse 2.
- 3:10And Judah there, a daughter of a certain Canaanite whose name was
- 3:14Shua. And he took her and went into
- 3:17her three. She conceived and bore a son.
- 3:20And he called his name air. And that's exactly what
- 3:22happened. He erred.
- 3:24Friends, this is a great error and he should not have done so.
- 3:27But we're going to see in the lineage of the Messiah that
- 3:31God's going to take this lineage here and all of the things that
- 3:35have happened, and He's going to graft in some of the most
- 3:39heinous acts that mankind has ever done against him, and he's
- 3:43going to use it for great good. And you're going to see it in
- 3:47the lineage of our Lord Jesus Christ.
- 3:49What an amazing thought that no matter what we have done in this
- 3:53life, God can take it and He can use it, friends, for ministry
- 3:57and He can use it for great good.
- 3:59And no one friend is disqualified.
- 4:02If you have breath in your lungs, there's still hope for
- 4:05you. You cannot believe the lies of
- 4:07the enemy who wants to get you to believe that you've gone too
- 4:11far, that it's too late, that you are not loved and not part
- 4:16of God's eternal blessing and plans.
- 4:19If you are hearing this, and if you have breath in your lungs,
- 4:23it's not too late. Surrender to them today.
- 4:26Friends don't air as Judah did here For and he conceived again,
- 4:32and bore a son. And he called his name Onan.
- 4:35And she yet again conceived and bore a son, and called his name
- 4:39Sheila. And he was at Chisholm when she
- 4:42bore him. So here Judah has three sons.
- 4:45Let's see how it goes. 6 And Judah took a wife for heir his
- 4:49first born, whose name was Tamar. 7 And heir Judah's first
- 4:53born was wicked in the sight of the Lord, and the Lord slew him.
- 4:58We're not told here what the problem with air was.
- 5:03We're just told that he was evil in the sight of God.
- 5:06And so God slew him. And here you're going to see
- 5:10this divine protection of the family of God, the covenant
- 5:15family, the 12 tribes of Israel, and God is protecting them. 8
- 5:27And Judah said to Onan, go into your brother's wife and marry
- 5:32her and raise up seed to your brother.
- 5:34So this is going to be outlined later on in the Old Testament
- 5:40where it is a brother who is to make sure that the lineage
- 5:45continues on. And it's the very same thing
- 5:48that the Sadducees tried to make fun of whenever they were
- 5:52talking to Jesus. And they were saying this one
- 5:54had her and this one had her, and this one had her in the end,
- 5:58whose wife is she? And they were trying to disprove
- 6:01the resurrection of the dead because they did not believe in
- 6:04it. But what did Jesus tell them?
- 6:06He says that there is no marriage in heaven and that we
- 6:09will be like the angels, Friends, we do not care anything
- 6:13about those things. There's no procreation in
- 6:16heaven, friends. It is just all about Jesus and
- 6:19his glory. And I pray that you're looking
- 6:22forward to it. I pray that you're not trying to
- 6:24hold on to this life and the way that this world goes.
- 6:27Pray that you look forward to your eternal abode with Him, and
- 6:32if He is there, He is enough. 9 And Onan knew that his seed
- 6:42should not be his, and it came to pass when he went into his
- 6:45brother's wife that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he
- 6:49should give seed to his brother. So here you need to understand
- 6:53that this Onan was evil in the Lord's sight, because he was
- 6:56supposed to continue on the line of his brother, but he did not.
- 7:00And he would use her, but he would not fulfill his
- 7:03responsibility. And God said that he should go
- 7:07as well. And he did the thing which
- 7:11displeased the Lord. Therefore he slew him also.
- 7:14So God disposed of him. And this is divine protection
- 7:18over the line of Judah, which the Savior of the entire world
- 7:24would come through. And this is just like God.
- 7:27God outlines things in the Bible that man, if he was to write it,
- 7:30he would never put in there. Never forget that the Bible is a
- 7:34book that man would not write if he could, and he could not write
- 7:39even if he wanted to. This is divinely inspired.
- 7:44This is the breath of God. This is the Holy Spirit pinning
- 7:48these words down for us and this for our edification.
- 7:51And there is so much here. This is gems and jewels that we
- 7:55unearth throughout a lifetime. Friends, this is just a bird's
- 7:59eye view. This is just a fly over.
- 8:02Friends, we can spend an entire lifetime in the deep end and
- 8:06we'll never touch the bottom 11 then said Judah to Tamar, his
- 8:13daughter-in-law. Remain a widow at your father's
- 8:15house until Sheila, my son be grown, for he said, lest
- 8:20peradventure he'd die also as his brothers did.
- 8:23And Tamar went and dwelt in her father's house.
- 8:26So you need to know here that old Judah is trying to protect
- 8:32his neck and he actually has the say over Tamar, since she was
- 8:38married to his son and his other son.
- 8:42You need to know that it's not her father who has to say, it's
- 8:47actually Judah 12. And in the process of time the
- 8:53daughter of Shua, Judah's wife, died, and Judah was comforted
- 8:57and went up unto his sheepshears, to Timna, he and
- 9:02his friend Hira the Abdullah Mite.
- 9:05So here he's going, and he's going to shear some sheep, and
- 9:09he's going into the land that Tamar lived. 13 And it was told
- 9:15Tamar saying, Behold, your father-in-law goes up to 10 not
- 9:19to shear sheep. 14 So she put her widow's garments off from
- 9:25her, and covered her with a veil, and wrapped herself, and
- 9:29sat in an open place, which is, by the way, to Timna, for she
- 9:34saw that Sheila was grown, and she was not given to him to
- 9:39wife. So here she's already seeing
- 9:44that Judah was not going to be a man of his word that his
- 9:49youngest son was of age. And he said when he became of
- 9:53age he would give him to her because she was his
- 9:59responsibility. And for her to be stuck at her
- 10:02father's house as a widow meant that she could not marry anyone
- 10:07else and she was destitute. And so here she does something
- 10:12that is not very couth, and she goes and plays the harlot.
- 10:18But we're going to see how it all ends up. 15 When Judah saw
- 10:25her, he thought her to be a harlot, because she had covered
- 10:29her face. So here he mistakes her for a
- 10:31prostitute. 16 And he turned to her, by the way, and said, Go to
- 10:36I pray, let me come in unto you. For he knew not that she was his
- 10:41daughter-in-law. And she said, What will you give
- 10:44me, that you may come in unto me.
- 10:48So here she's outsmarting him. He just mistakes her for a
- 10:52prostitute. She's saying, what will you give
- 10:55me in payment? 17 He said, I will send you a
- 11:01kid from the flock. And she said, will you give me a
- 11:04pledge until you send it? So here she is.
- 11:07She's playing her part. She's making sure she that she
- 11:11gets some kind of proof of who he is. 18 And he said, what
- 11:18pledge shall I give you? And she said your signet, your
- 11:21bracelets, your staff that is in your hand.
- 11:25And he gave it to her and he came into her and she conceived
- 11:29by him. So she got pregnant by her
- 11:32father-in-law. But in place before he sent the
- 11:37payment, she got his ring, his bracelets, and his staff. 19 And
- 11:44she arose and went away, and laid by her veil from her, and
- 11:48put on the garments of her widowhood.
- 11:50So she took off her costume and put back on her regular clothes.
- 11:5720 And Judas sent the kid by the hand of his friend the Abdullah
- 12:01might to receive his pledge from the woman's hand, but he found
- 12:04her not. So here he he sends his friend
- 12:07in there to pay her, but cannot find her. 21 Then he asked the
- 12:13men of the place, saying, Where is the harlot that was openly by
- 12:16the wayside? And they said There's no harlot
- 12:19in this place. So he's saying, where is the
- 12:21prostitute that was by the road? And he's saying there's no
- 12:25prostitute here, friend. 22 So he returned to Judah and said, I
- 12:31cannot find her. And also the men of the place
- 12:34said that there was no harlot in that place. 23 And Judah said,
- 12:38Let her take it to her, lest we be shamed.
- 12:42Behold, I sent this kid and you have not found her.
- 12:46So he's saying let her keep whatever I gave to her, the
- 12:48staff and the ring and the bracelets.
- 12:51I tried to pay her with the goat, but they're saying that
- 12:54there's no prostitute in that land. 24 It came to pass about
- 12:58three months later that it was told to Judah saying, Tamar,
- 13:02your daughter-in-law has played the whore and also behold, she's
- 13:07with child by whoredom. And Judah said, bring her forth
- 13:10and let her be burned. So he's saying burner at the
- 13:13stake for playing the whore. 25 And when she was brought forth,
- 13:17she sent to her father-in-law, saying by the man whose these
- 13:21are I am with child. And she said, discern, I pray
- 13:27you, whose are these, the signet, the bracelets, the
- 13:30staff. 26 And Judah acknowledged them and said she has been more
- 13:35righteous than I because that I gave her not Sheila, my son.
- 13:39And he knew her again no more. So he no longer had any
- 13:43relations with her. He understood what this was
- 13:45about. He understood that she
- 13:47outplayed, outsmarted him, friends, and that he was the one
- 13:51that was in the wrong, but not her. 27 And it came to pass, and
- 13:57the time of her travail, that behold, twins were in her womb.
- 14:01And it came to pass when she travailed, that the one put out
- 14:05his hand, and the midwife took and bound upon his hand a
- 14:08scarlet thread, saying, this came out first. 29 And it came
- 14:13to pass, as he drew back his hand, behold, his brother came
- 14:17out, And she said, How have you broken forth, this breach be
- 14:21upon you? Therefore his name was called
- 14:24Perez. 30 And afterward came out his brother that had the scarlet
- 14:29thread upon his hand, and his name was called Zara.
- 14:35So we know that Perez is in the genealogy of our Lord Jesus
- 14:38Christ, and we see the scarlet thread placed on his brother,
- 14:42and we see the scarlet thread all the way from Genesis to
- 14:46Revelation pointing to our Lord Jesus Christ.
- 14:49Follow that scarlet thread. Friends, I hope that you have
- 14:52been blessed by this amazing chapter in God's Word.
- 14:55I know I sure have. I'm praying for every single one
- 14:58of you. I love you.
- 14:59We'll see you back here tomorrow.
- 15:01God bless you.
