- 1:22SPEAKER_04: Not only he he he officially became everybody's little brother for no reason.
- 1:27SPEAKER_04: You know what I'm saying?
- 1:28SPEAKER_04: But but he belongs, he belongs to the to the one and only DJ enough.
- 1:33SPEAKER_04: And we call him EJ, but he grew up now and he's making these bangers out there.
- 1:38SPEAKER_04: Give it up one time to the podcast for our guy, Riot in the place, y'all.
- 1:43SPEAKER_04: Let's go.
- 1:48SPEAKER_03: How y'all feeling?
- 1:49SPEAKER_06: Yo, hold on, fam.
- 1:50SPEAKER_06: Is his name Riot or Riot USA?
- 1:53SPEAKER_06: What's what's the deal?
- 1:54SPEAKER_04: Right USA, but you know, aka Riot.
- 1:56SPEAKER_04: You feel me?
- 1:57SPEAKER_04: Mm-hmm.
- 1:57SPEAKER_04: All right, cool.
- 1:58SPEAKER_04: Stop playing with him, Riot.
- 1:59SPEAKER_04: All that.
- 1:59SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 2:00SPEAKER_04: All that.
- 2:00SPEAKER_04: All that.
- 2:01SPEAKER_01: Yo, so off the rib, I uh off the rib, let's start with with the name.
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: How did the name, how did it start?
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: Where did Riot USA come?
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: Honestly, honestly, I just I wanted a name that wasn't my government because I was just, you know, I was a teenager just trying to figure out what I wanted like my name to come.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: And I just I just honestly just was trying to come up with what I thought sounded like a cool Instagram name.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: And it was it was actually originally Riotville, but I'm like, the Ville don't really sound right.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: It don't really, it don't really sound right.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: So then I started seeing like how clothing brands have USA after their name.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: So I'm like, alright, I guess I'm like a brand, so Riot USA is like just a brand.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: I like it.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: Damn, I always liked it.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: I always liked it.
- 2:42SPEAKER_04: Nah, because a riot, uh, you know what I mean?
- 2:44SPEAKER_04: Uh it's a good thing most of the time, you know what I'm saying?
- 2:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah, no, it was yeah, I just got noise down there.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I thought I just thought it sounded cool.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: That's it for real.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: That's what's up.
- 2:52SPEAKER_04: So I never asked Eve, so I'll go ahead and ask Riot, when did this happen, bro?
- 2:56SPEAKER_04: Like you just, you know what, I'm gonna make these beats.
- 2:58SPEAKER_04: I mean, I know we we heard back when you was in college and all that.
- 3:02SPEAKER_04: Was that when the bug hit you?
- 3:03SPEAKER_04: Like, I want to make these beats and then move on with it?
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: Nah, I started making beats technically when I was 10.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: Uh I was 10.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: I was listening on garage band.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: I would I would bother enough and I would just be like, yo, like, listen to these beats.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: And he'd be like, Yeah, yeah, like, you know.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: He listened, you know what I'm saying?
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: He never didn't listen, but I was like, oh, okay, I I guess they're not that good, like yet, you know what I'm saying?
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: Like, so you know, I just I started doing it then, and then I kind of chilled out for a little bit, you know what I'm saying, while I became like a teenager and stuff like that.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: And then but when I was 15, that's when I really like downloaded uh a cracked version of Fruity Loops.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: I started to fuck around and you know what I'm saying.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: That's how I started like really taking it more serious in high school.
- 3:51SPEAKER_01: You know, for for most people out there that don't know, you know, we we seen EJ grow up around us like while we at work and enough is on live on the radio, we're hanging out, he brings EJ, Ray USA, to work.
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: So we've seen him since young, and then all of a sudden, he all of a sudden we don't know, we don't know behind the scenes that he's doing beats.
- 4:13SPEAKER_01: We don't know at 10 years old, we don't know at 15 years old.
- 4:16SPEAKER_01: We don't know, and all of a sudden he just slapped all of us.
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: We're like, yo, he just did this.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: What?
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: Me either, bro.
- 4:22SPEAKER_06: He hit from right.
- 4:24SPEAKER_06: Like this came on.
- 4:25SPEAKER_06: Come on.
- 4:26SPEAKER_06: I'm gonna tell you the story, Camillo.
- 4:27SPEAKER_06: Peep this.
- 4:28SPEAKER_06: He's 15 years old.
- 4:30SPEAKER_06: His mother calls me and says, I'm on my way to go pick up your son.
- 4:35SPEAKER_06: I'm like, what are you talking about?
- 4:37SPEAKER_06: Your son's performing somewhere in Williamsburg.
- 4:40SPEAKER_06: Performing.
- 4:41SPEAKER_06: Camillo L Books, Cast One, he's 15 years old.
- 4:45SPEAKER_06: He's not even old enough to be in the club.
- 4:47SPEAKER_06: He's performing.
- 4:48SPEAKER_06: Get it.
- 4:49SPEAKER_06: So I was like, what?
- 4:50SPEAKER_06: And he hid his Instagram name for me back then because he wanted me to see like what he was doing or his what his song sounded like.
- 4:58SPEAKER_06: But his homeboys and his crew, they ratted him out.
- 5:01SPEAKER_04: Yo, Riot.
- 5:02SPEAKER_04: What where does that come from, though?
- 5:04SPEAKER_04: More like, let me do me, or like, I don't think my dad's ready.
- 5:07SPEAKER_04: Like, where did that come from?
- 5:08SPEAKER_04: Like, yo, I'm gonna hide everything from Pops.
- 5:10SPEAKER_04: Was it purposely or it just happened that way?
- 5:12SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: I had I had this kind of like pride where I didn't I never wanted anybody to say I was handed anything.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: So I always made sure that I just wanted to create my own path so nobody can ever play with my name.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: But at the same time, I also was just like a teenager.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: I was doing graffiti, I was trying to I was getting in trouble with him with that.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: I was just trying to like not get into anything with him.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: Like, you know what I'm saying?
- 5:37SPEAKER_01: Like I was just you was doing teenager shit, and yeah, I did a good job high-yeah, and then I and then I was like I said, like it took me like a little bit to like real be real confident with my stuff.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: Like, not a long time, but like I just didn't want to just be showing him anything because I knew a lot of people were just showing him stuff.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, make sure that I was like super sure about what I was doing before I really just like.
- 6:02SPEAKER_04: Dude, I'll admit it it took it took me personally by surprise when we got the um the email blast.
- 6:08SPEAKER_05: Well, let me let me tell you let me tell you a quick story about like about that as far as finding out that you know Riot and EJ were the same person.
- 6:18SPEAKER_05: Or even that, like, so you know, I know I know EJ for a long time, right?
- 6:23SPEAKER_05: He never had really talked music stuff at all, but he was always, you know, just around.
- 6:28SPEAKER_05: And of course, when you're around, you know, you're around DJ Enough, you're around Camillo, you're just around music, and you kind of soak that stuff in.
- 6:36SPEAKER_05: So he has a musical soul kind of akin to Enough, where it's like, and that's what I've noticed between you two, where it's just like they'll hear things in good music, it won't be his particular song or particular genre or whatever.
- 6:50SPEAKER_05: Anyway, long story short, I'm on the radio, I'm doing a radio show.
- 6:54SPEAKER_05: I'm on 197, and I play like I had this little segment where I would play new songs.
- 6:59SPEAKER_05: And it was pretty much like anything that I could find or whatever that I thought was a cool song.
- 7:03SPEAKER_05: So I've somehow, I think maybe on TikTok, or somehow along the way, I bumped into this Ice Spice song.
- 7:09SPEAKER_05: This uh it was No Clary, if I remember correctly, right?
- 7:12SPEAKER_05: So I'm like, oh, who is this girl?
- 7:14SPEAKER_05: I didn't, you know, I just saw it.
- 7:15SPEAKER_05: I was like, all right, cool, this song's cool.
- 7:17SPEAKER_05: She's from the Bronx.
- 7:17SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna just start playing it.
- 7:18SPEAKER_05: Whatever, bang.
- 7:19SPEAKER_05: So I I cleaned it up and I start playing.
- 7:21SPEAKER_05: I don't know who, whatever.
- 7:23SPEAKER_05: So after a couple of weeks, you know, I get a call from EJ.
- 7:26SPEAKER_05: I'm I'm like, oh shit, EJ's calling me.
- 7:28SPEAKER_05: Let's see, what's up?
- 7:28SPEAKER_05: I'm I pick up the phone and he's like, yo, bro, I just want to thank you for playing the record I produced.
- 7:33SPEAKER_05: And I'm like, he's like, no, you know, good looking for playing my record.
- 7:38SPEAKER_05: I'm like, what record are you talking about?
- 7:41SPEAKER_05: You a rapper?
- 7:42SPEAKER_05: What are you talking about?
- 7:42SPEAKER_05: He's like, no, the the the the no clarity record.
- 7:45SPEAKER_05: I said, what?
- 7:47SPEAKER_05: You did what?
- 7:48SPEAKER_05: You producing, bro?
- 7:50SPEAKER_05: So I I hung up for him and I immediately called enough, right?
- 7:54SPEAKER_05: I I got, you know, EJ doesn't know this part.
- 7:56SPEAKER_05: But I got on the phone with him and I called enough and I was like, yo, bro, do you know that?
- 8:01SPEAKER_05: You know that EJ's the producer named Ryan.
- 8:04SPEAKER_05: He's rioting and he's making records out here.
- 8:06SPEAKER_05: Yo, this record he got.
- 8:07SPEAKER_05: This is something, bro.
- 8:08SPEAKER_05: Like, this is crazy.
- 8:09SPEAKER_05: Like, what are we doing?
- 8:10SPEAKER_05: Like, you know, how could we get behind it?
- 8:12SPEAKER_05: Enough was like, chill, bro.
- 8:14SPEAKER_05: He just said he don't want me to do nothing.
- 8:15SPEAKER_05: He said, Got it.
- 8:18SPEAKER_05: I'm just gonna fall back.
- 8:19SPEAKER_05: I know, I know, I know, I know Pop, I know he's doing it, but you know, he just said, you know, he just wanted to do his own thing, which was great.
- 8:25SPEAKER_05: And a lot of people probably don't know that side of it.
- 8:28SPEAKER_05: They probably, once they've put two and one and one together, they'd probably be like, oh, he just got on because he's enough stuff.
- 8:33SPEAKER_05: Nah, nah.
- 8:33SPEAKER_05: Not at all.
- 8:34SPEAKER_05: Like, nobody knew.
- 8:36SPEAKER_05: This was something he did on his own, and they organically came about and it kind of, you know, and it blew up and it started snowballing on his own with no help from any of us.
- 8:47SPEAKER_05: We was late.
- 8:48SPEAKER_01: We was late, we was late.
- 8:49SPEAKER_01: We was late.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: We came in the back end, like, I want to shout out Castle because he was one of like him and Taz, DJ Taz, another heavy hitter, was definitely the first ones to just reach out just on some like first, like, you know, like so.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: I always appreciate y'all for that, you know.
- 9:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah, my guy.
- 9:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, enough, enough.
- 9:07SPEAKER_01: What age you started DJing at?
- 9:09SPEAKER_01: Me?
- 9:10SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 9:10SPEAKER_01: Like what you start probably about 15.
- 9:14SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 9:14SPEAKER_01: 15.
- 9:14SPEAKER_01: So look, it kind of makes sense, you know.
- 9:16SPEAKER_01: Nah, it wouldn't be, but they fell back in 15.
- 9:18SPEAKER_01: So it's in the blood, bro.
- 9:20SPEAKER_01: It's in the blood.
- 9:21SPEAKER_01: I've always said that.
- 9:21SPEAKER_01: It's in the blood.
- 9:22SPEAKER_04: Nah, but the the amount of people when we got the email blast after we were super late on what Raya was doing, and I promise you, enough could have become a gazillion of the amount of people that was like, wait, this, wait, this EJ?
- 9:35SPEAKER_04: Wait, this EJ.
- 9:36SPEAKER_04: I think everybody before they even played the record had to question, like, wait, this EJ, like, over and over, like, and I ain't gonna friends what Cass said.
- 9:44SPEAKER_04: It was so organic, yo.
- 9:45SPEAKER_04: It just happened.
- 9:46SPEAKER_04: And, you know what I'm saying?
- 9:47SPEAKER_04: It just happened.
- 9:48SPEAKER_05: And I think that's like you know, just happening.
- 9:50SPEAKER_05: He put it work.
- 9:51SPEAKER_05: He put it work to make it happen.
- 9:52SPEAKER_05: And it just happened, but you know.
- 9:58SPEAKER_04: We actually liked the record, and then knowing that it was Riot, we were like, holy shit, he'd been hiding his talent this whole damn time.
- 10:05SPEAKER_04: Good shit, Riot.
- 10:06SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that's crazy.
- 10:08SPEAKER_06: That's a crazy story.
- 10:09SPEAKER_06: I was initially hurt because I thought he needed my help, right?
- 10:13SPEAKER_06: But because I was so used to every artist in the world calling my phone, hitting my email, help me, help me, help me.
- 10:20SPEAKER_06: And then my own blood was like, I don't need your help, Pop.
- 10:23SPEAKER_06: But then full circle moment came back.
- 10:28SPEAKER_06: And he was like, Dad, I need you.
- 10:31SPEAKER_06: Yes, I'm here.
- 10:33SPEAKER_06: Yo, he was thirsty on the bench.
- 10:35SPEAKER_06: Put me in, coach.
- 10:43SPEAKER_06: A show, a concert, they were like, nah, we good, Pop, we good.
- 10:46SPEAKER_06: We're moving, we're moving, right?
- 10:48SPEAKER_06: So that part I was hurt.
- 10:50SPEAKER_06: But you know what I realized for this young man to be nominated for the Grammys, yes, sir, he needed radio.
- 10:59SPEAKER_06: Because radio still reports to Billboard.
- 11:01SPEAKER_06: Radio still reports to all these other, you know, was it BMI, this, and all that kind of stuff.
- 11:06SPEAKER_06: So we actually helped them elevate to the next level.
- 11:10SPEAKER_06: So it's just a level up.
- 11:12SPEAKER_06: That's it.
- 11:12SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 11:13SPEAKER_06: He could be recognized by his peers and by fans all over the world.
- 11:16SPEAKER_06: So in that regard, I help.
- 11:19SPEAKER_05: Yeah, but no, but the problem, the thing is that yeah, you help, but by the time you help, you it was it was already a funny.
- 11:28SPEAKER_05: It was too late.
- 11:29SPEAKER_01: Like, you give me how to you were gonna play it anyway.
- 11:31SPEAKER_01: It was a funny.
- 11:33SPEAKER_01: You know how easy it was to play Chris Brown?
- 11:36SPEAKER_01: It depends, produced by Rye, USA.
- 11:38SPEAKER_01: Like, that was just the U.
- 11:40SPEAKER_01: Like, it was already done.
- 11:41SPEAKER_01: No, but the work was done already.
- 11:42SPEAKER_04: At work, as recent as last week, at work, someone was asking me, like, Bugs, don't you know Raya, blah, blah, blah.
- 11:48SPEAKER_04: And then I'm like, yo, he did this with that.
- 11:49SPEAKER_04: And they pulled out his uh, they pulled out Riot, they pulled out all your joints.
- 11:53SPEAKER_04: I promise you, everybody at Power 105 were like, no fucking way.
- 11:57SPEAKER_04: I'm like, the kid's been working, bro.
- 11:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 11:59SPEAKER_04: And I had to show them, like, no, look, they were like, what the fuck?
- 12:05SPEAKER_04: I'm like, yeah, he do white people shit, black people's shit, he do all that shit.
- 12:09SPEAKER_05: You know what?
- 12:09SPEAKER_05: Now that I now now that you bring that up, what's been your um, what do you think is was was was the the the thing that you've worked on that's been the most fun?
- 12:18SPEAKER_05: Or like you had the best time doing, like working with who, at what point?
- 12:23SPEAKER_00: I think, I think, um, I think I like if you're saying at what point, I think it was like that point when everything was fresh, you know, and like like I'm still I still feel fresh and new, but I'm talking about when everything is like is fresh, you know.
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: When you, you know, because when everything started popping off of me, I had just finished school.
- 12:40SPEAKER_00: I didn't really I I quit my job.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: I was I didn't have a job for like six months.
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: I was like, damn, like I'm just gonna do this shit.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: And it I'm just gonna it is what it is.
- 12:49SPEAKER_00: I even asked dad, I'm like, dad, can I stay with you?
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: Like if this don't work right now, because my mom is tripping, she wants she wants me to chip in, and I don't really have nothing to really give her.
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: I gotta like, and he said, Yeah, but by the time it worked.
- 13:03SPEAKER_00: By the time I was like, it was the craziest ever I can't.
- 13:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was crazy.
- 13:10SPEAKER_06: It was like a week later, boom, you blew up.
- 13:12SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it was crazy.
- 13:13SPEAKER_06: I say, you know, how crazy is that?
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: It was the funnest part around that breakthrough era because I was just traveling for the first time, like on my own, you know, off of my music, you know what I'm saying?
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: So, like, you know, working with ice at that stage was definitely the most fun because nobody's really telling us what to do.
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: We coming in with this new sound that nobody's really doing at the level we doing it at.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: So there's nobody to really tell me anything.
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: So I'm literally just doing what I want.
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 13:45SPEAKER_00: I'm still doing what I want, but like basically it was that's that's that was that that it was just fun, you know what I'm saying?
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: Like that that's so that that breakthrough era 2022 leading into 2023, like top of 2023, you know what I'm saying?
- 13:59SPEAKER_01: Right, getting started.
- 14:01SPEAKER_01: Like, did you like learn shit on YouTube?
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: Like, was that one of the things?
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, yeah, YouTube, YouTube.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: I had homies that had, you know, I was using FL and stuff like that.
- 14:12SPEAKER_00: Definitely YouTube for sure.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: YouTube.
- 14:15SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 14:15SPEAKER_01: So I the reason I asked is because at one point my son wanted to produce.
- 14:20SPEAKER_01: And I was like, what?
- 14:21SPEAKER_01: You know, me, I've never touched a product.
- 14:24SPEAKER_01: I'm like not not like enough that's done production.
- 14:26SPEAKER_01: Like, I've never.
- 14:27SPEAKER_01: So what did I do?
- 14:28SPEAKER_01: I called right.
- 14:29SPEAKER_01: I said, yo, listen, I don't want to waste your time, but listen, what do I have to get for this young boy that's interested in producing, but I don't want to go all out.
- 14:40SPEAKER_01: I want to start him off like like boot camp and see if he's really interested.
- 14:45SPEAKER_01: He said, All right, get this laptop, get this um the program for God, fruit with uh uh footy loops, yeah, yeah.
- 14:52SPEAKER_01: Get this, get that, and and stuff from there.
- 14:54SPEAKER_01: I'm like, all right, and then I never call right again.
- 14:56SPEAKER_01: I said, here it is.
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: If you really love it, JQ, you're gonna fall for that.
- 15:01SPEAKER_04: Go for it.
- 15:02SPEAKER_04: Hey, they use it, they use it.
- 15:04SPEAKER_01: He used it, he used it, he used it for a couple of weeks, la la la.
- 15:09SPEAKER_01: And then he back to back to his fucking PS5.
- 15:15SPEAKER_01: Hey, I tried though, you know what I'm saying?
- 15:17SPEAKER_04: At least you try.
- 15:18SPEAKER_04: Riot, when you when you when you was getting it in and you was starting and you was trying to figure out your sign and all that, was it all uh trial and error, or you knew I was I'm gonna create this lane for myself, or was it like a sign already in your head?
- 15:29SPEAKER_04: You know what I'm saying?
- 15:30SPEAKER_04: Was it all trial and error?
- 15:31SPEAKER_04: Like, cause people know when it's your beat.
- 15:33SPEAKER_04: People know when it's your production.
- 15:34SPEAKER_04: You know what I'm saying?
- 15:35SPEAKER_04: Was that something that you just found along the way, or was that like little by little, this me right here?
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, little by little.
- 15:42SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, when I when I started making beats, drill wasn't really a thing in New York yet.
- 15:49SPEAKER_00: It was still Chicago, Chief Keith era, it was a different type of sound.
- 15:53SPEAKER_00: So, you know, you know, I was trying a little bit of everything.
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: I was making a little bit of hip-hop beats, I was making RB, I was making pop, just anything that I thought sounded good.
- 16:03SPEAKER_00: Now I'm at a point where I could make any kind of vibe, but like it was definitely a trial error type of thing.
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: It wasn't like I'm just trying to make this one type of beat.
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: But obviously, my my roots growing up is hip-hop always, so you know that's that was.
- 16:24SPEAKER_04: What's that reaction?
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: That was crazy.
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: That was that was um that was wild.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: I ain't gonna lie.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: That was that was pretty wild.
- 16:32SPEAKER_00: Be in the studio working.
- 16:33SPEAKER_04: I reacted like I was sitting next to you.
- 16:35SPEAKER_04: I reacted like I was sitting next to you at that moment.
- 16:37SPEAKER_00: When I was posted, I was like, Yeah, when that happened too, that was before like you know, we had we had munch and things was moving, and still, I still didn't have my deal yet.
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: We still it's brand new, like, you know, everything happened so fast.
- 16:52SPEAKER_00: So when that happened, it's just I was like, damn, things is not gonna be the same for sure after this.
- 16:57SPEAKER_00: And I just remember even telling Taylor in the in the studio, like, yo, like, this don't happen to people where we're from.
- 17:04SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: So I just being a little emotional in there because I'm just like, damn, like people like us not really allowed in type of spaces so high up.
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: You know, we're talking about the top of the game, like the top, 100%.
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: That's that's the highest you could go, you know.
- 17:23SPEAKER_01: So I was like, Do you do you ever feel like do you ever feel like that happened too fast?
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: Almost.
- 17:29SPEAKER_00: Almost, because sometimes you're like, damn, like if I knew what I knew now, I probably would have like, you know, just been a little bit more like like uh what's the word?
- 17:39SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, I was I think I was a little shy, you know.
- 17:42SPEAKER_00: You don't want to say the wrong thing.
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: You're kind of being a little timid.
- 17:45SPEAKER_01: Like, I definitely like I would be intimidated.
- 17:49SPEAKER_01: That's what I was gonna ask you.
- 17:50SPEAKER_01: I'd be straight up.
- 17:51SPEAKER_05: That's what I was gonna ask you.
- 17:52SPEAKER_05: Like working with these, you you went from from working with like new artists to all of a sudden you're in the rooms with Taylor Swift, the likes of Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, established artists.
- 18:02SPEAKER_05: Like at any point, did you feel like intimidated or like damn?
- 18:05SPEAKER_05: And like, you know, sometimes you feel like you have sort of like an imposter syndrome.
- 18:09SPEAKER_05: Do you feel like, damn, do I really am I really in here?
- 18:11SPEAKER_05: Like, am I supposed to be here?
- 18:13SPEAKER_05: Like, the at any time did you feel nervous?
- 18:15SPEAKER_05: You're like, what if they don't like this beat that I do?
- 18:17SPEAKER_05: Or what if they don't like what I tell them production-wise?
- 18:20SPEAKER_00: Hell yeah.
- 18:21SPEAKER_00: Not like I don't think it's because I'm like, oh, they're gonna like this beat.
- 18:24SPEAKER_00: It's more so like, yo, they better like this beat because I don't feel like something right now.
- 18:29SPEAKER_00: Because like, you know, like sometimes I'll make a beat and I'm like, yo, they this is this, I like I trust myself so much where I'm like, yo, this is a hit.
- 18:36SPEAKER_00: Do this beat.
- 18:38SPEAKER_00: I know it's gonna work.
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: Like, cause most of the songs that are big songs that I've done, I've already knew that was one of them.
- 18:44SPEAKER_00: Like, you know?
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: So something like stuff like that, that's how I feel.
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: But you know, definitely a lot of these big artists.
- 18:51SPEAKER_00: I could have that feeling.
- 18:52SPEAKER_00: Like when I met Nikki, I remember being like, oh, snap, like Nikki.
- 18:56SPEAKER_00: Like when I met Chris, I was like, oh shit, it's Chris.
- 19:00SPEAKER_00: Like, but I don't I don't have imposter send them for myself like that.
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: I think I just I'm just grateful, you know what I'm saying?
- 19:08SPEAKER_00: I think I'm just overly grateful.
- 19:10SPEAKER_00: And sometimes I'm like, damn, like, not everybody could do this, you know what I'm saying?
- 19:15SPEAKER_00: And I see so many people in this world try to do these type of things, and that it doesn't make it makes me kind of sad.
- 19:20SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, damn, you know, like I wish everybody could like could do this, but you know, that's why you just gotta but that's dope that at least you recognize that that's people like you said, people like you said before, people like us don't get invited to these rooms.
- 19:35SPEAKER_04: People like us don't sit at these tables, and you're there now, you know what I'm saying?
- 19:38SPEAKER_04: And like you've pivoted a few different ways.
- 19:40SPEAKER_04: You came in with with with I so white now and you did your own stuff, then you got the names on the productions tip, and then I see you out there not doing your own records too.
- 19:49SPEAKER_04: Like, bro, like you driving.
- 19:51SPEAKER_04: You driving, bro.
- 19:53SPEAKER_01: Like, yo, speaking of your own records, I'm at the club, Icon.
- 19:57SPEAKER_01: I think icon, you popped up and you was like, yo, I just sent you this.
- 20:01SPEAKER_01: So I was on a set, and you know, nowadays everybody could just send it your music to your laptop and boom, just play it.
- 20:08SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, damn, I'm playing fucking riots song right here in the club.
- 20:14SPEAKER_01: 4 a.m.
- 20:15SPEAKER_01: crazy to me.
- 20:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 20:17SPEAKER_00: I was like 4 a.m.
- 20:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was like 4 a.m.
- 20:21SPEAKER_00: I was club was damn near about a close.
- 20:24SPEAKER_00: Everybody's still in the section.
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: I should, but you know, we rocking out, we was rocking out.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: That was fun.
- 20:29SPEAKER_00: I remember that.
- 20:30SPEAKER_00: Right, but it was wild.
- 20:31SPEAKER_01: It was nuts to me.
- 20:32SPEAKER_01: It was just I was DJ just thinking like, damn, this is fucking crazy.
- 20:35SPEAKER_00: You in a second, I think Ryan doesn't get it yet.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: That's the city.
- 20:40SPEAKER_00: I was like, I gotta go in the club.
- 20:41SPEAKER_00: Like, I wasn't gonna go, but I I knew he was in there.
- 20:44SPEAKER_00: I'm like, I gotta say what up.
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 20:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, 100%, bro.
- 20:48SPEAKER_01: I appreciate that.
- 20:49SPEAKER_04: Yeah, Camilla, I don't think Riot gets it.
- 20:51SPEAKER_04: No matter what he does, we all still gonna go, shit, it's Riot.
- 20:55SPEAKER_04: Like, yeah, man.
- 20:55SPEAKER_04: Nah, yeah, no matter what he does, yo.
- 20:58SPEAKER_01: 100%.
- 20:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, listen, you're EJ to us in our heart, man, because that's just what it is forever.
- 21:03SPEAKER_01: But right, you would, you know, it's it's just a crazy, crazy.
- 21:07SPEAKER_01: But now, listen, real quick.
- 21:08SPEAKER_01: So you hit the top of the top of the top, but I'm sure there's a bunch of artists that you want to work with.
- 21:13SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 21:13SPEAKER_01: That, you know, like is there a wish list?
- 21:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, is there like a wish list?
- 21:19SPEAKER_01: Like, who's on that list?
- 21:20SPEAKER_01: Like, you know, and it don't gotta be the top of the top.
- 21:23SPEAKER_01: It could be like whoever.
- 21:24SPEAKER_01: You know, who you feeling?
- 21:26SPEAKER_00: Let's go.
- 21:26SPEAKER_00: Let me go through my phone, man.
- 21:27SPEAKER_00: Let me go through my phone.
- 21:32SPEAKER_00: I also want to work with like, man, I still want to, I still want to, you know, work with Kanye.
- 21:37SPEAKER_00: I still want to work with uh Trey.
- 21:40SPEAKER_00: I still want to work with Sizza.
- 21:42SPEAKER_00: Uh I want to work with, let me see, Rihanna.
- 21:45SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 21:46SPEAKER_01: Um those are the big dogs.
- 21:48SPEAKER_01: Those are the big dogs.
- 21:50SPEAKER_00: Uh who else?
- 21:50SPEAKER_00: Who else?
- 21:51SPEAKER_00: Who else?
- 21:51SPEAKER_00: I'm looking.
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: I'm looking.
- 21:53SPEAKER_00: Those are like the new dogs.
- 21:54SPEAKER_01: How about like up and up and coming?
- 21:56SPEAKER_01: How about like up?
- 21:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like up and coming, like, you know.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: You know, listen, we're in a tough game right now where like music is just crazy for me.
- 22:04SPEAKER_01: I I feel like we all know that hip hop is hurting right now, you know.
- 22:11SPEAKER_01: We keep waiting for fucking Let me go on the let me go on the Rap Caviar playlist and see who's who we uh rap carrier.
- 22:18SPEAKER_01: Here we go.
- 22:18SPEAKER_01: Like like perhaps I don't know.
- 22:20SPEAKER_01: I perhaps I'm throwing names out there, like a Zeddy will.
- 22:23SPEAKER_00: Oh me and Zeti, yo, me and Zed, we don't are me and Zeddy don't have like we cool, like we don't have a song officially, but I was on a stream one time and we was rapping on stream on some shit.
- 22:32SPEAKER_00: So we we got like a little song, but like we don't have like an official song.
- 22:36SPEAKER_00: That's my dog though.
- 22:37SPEAKER_03: Like we talk all the time.
- 22:40SPEAKER_00: We definitely talk all the time though, for sure.
- 22:42SPEAKER_00: You know, right.
- 22:45SPEAKER_00: He put it on for the city.
- 22:46SPEAKER_00: I'll say Zeddy's like Zeddy Cash, me and Cash got a song together.
- 22:50SPEAKER_00: I want that to drop seats.
- 22:52SPEAKER_00: That's dope.
- 22:53SPEAKER_00: That's just fine.
- 22:55SPEAKER_00: We need all that.
- 22:56SPEAKER_00: We need all that.
- 22:57SPEAKER_00: Me and Wolf show we got a song.
- 22:59SPEAKER_00: Um there's a couple, there's a couple heads in the city that like I got songs with, you know, that are that are doing their thing, stuff like that, you know?
- 23:07SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 23:08SPEAKER_04: What's the um what's the plan moving forward?
- 23:10SPEAKER_04: What's the plan?
- 23:11SPEAKER_04: Like with what you trying to do?
- 23:13SPEAKER_04: What's the plan?
- 23:13SPEAKER_04: Because now you're doing the artisting, but is that obviously there's a plan.
- 23:17SPEAKER_04: I know that.
- 23:18SPEAKER_04: It has to be.
- 23:19SPEAKER_00: No, yeah, it's just consistency, putting out quality music and videos and and just staying consistent.
- 23:25SPEAKER_00: Like, you know what I'm saying?
- 23:26SPEAKER_00: Like, I don't look at my career as like, oh, it gotta be only artists or only producer.
- 23:30SPEAKER_00: I look at it as just me, like, you know what I'm saying?
- 23:33SPEAKER_00: Like, that's that's just how I how I feel.
- 23:35SPEAKER_00: So as long as I keep staying consistent and doing both, like I'll be happy.
- 23:39SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 23:40SPEAKER_00: Like, it's about the music for me.
- 23:41SPEAKER_00: So I'm just gonna keep on working.
- 23:43SPEAKER_00: Like before, like I I left the studio to do this.
- 23:46SPEAKER_00: I was in the studio, like working.
- 23:48SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 23:50SPEAKER_00: That's that's that's what I that's how I just gonna keep it going.
- 23:54SPEAKER_00: Like, as long as I keep a lot of artists, like they they get comfortable, and then it's like they that's when shit goes wrong.
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: It's like you gotta just stay in and stay locked in.
- 24:02SPEAKER_00: Like, that's the only way to, you know what I'm saying?
- 24:06SPEAKER_00: Everything, like everything else falls outside.
- 24:08SPEAKER_00: You you know, if you have no music, you can't shoot no videos.
- 24:10SPEAKER_00: If you have no music, you can't put nothing to no D.
- 24:16SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 24:17SPEAKER_05: That's good.
- 24:18SPEAKER_05: So that's really I have a quick question for you guys.
- 24:21SPEAKER_05: You know, I have a quick question for uh E and E, as I like to say.
- 24:26SPEAKER_05: So, you know, I was blessed enough to be around Enough and EJ as a family.
- 24:32SPEAKER_05: I've seen the father-son thing I was there very early.
- 24:35SPEAKER_05: I see EJ Ray as, you know, kind of like my unofficial little brother, and enough as like my unofficial pops, right?
- 24:42SPEAKER_05: So one of the proudest moments to me, no, enough's laughing, but I'm real.
- 24:46SPEAKER_05: One of the proudest moments to me was when I saw that you two were at the Grammys together, right?
- 24:51SPEAKER_05: When EJ was nominated for a Grammy, the E, he took E to the Grammys.
- 24:55SPEAKER_05: I know E's been to the Grammys before, but this is probably a whole different type of situation, right?
- 25:00SPEAKER_05: It's like your son is taking you to the Grammys, and you're you and you're as a dad are going to the Grammys, which is nominated for a Grammy.
- 25:10SPEAKER_05: Like, what what was I want to hear from both of you guys as to what feelings were going through, you know, were in the air when this was going on, because this was really big, man.
- 25:19SPEAKER_05: It's like a really big moment.
- 25:20SPEAKER_05: I know enough cried.
- 25:21SPEAKER_05: He had to.
- 25:22SPEAKER_06: I was fine.
- 25:24SPEAKER_06: But you know what?
- 25:25SPEAKER_06: I think for me it was like this, right?
- 25:27SPEAKER_06: I've done a lot of red carpets in my life and I've been to the Grammys before.
- 25:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 25:31SPEAKER_06: Always been, yo enough, yo enough, yo enough.
- 25:33SPEAKER_06: That kind of stuff when you're walking down and the cameras are going.
- 25:36SPEAKER_06: But this time it was like, yo, right, right, right.
- 25:40SPEAKER_06: And then they'd be like, oh shit, yo, enough, you here too.
- 25:43SPEAKER_06: And I'm like, so it was that kind of thing.
- 25:45SPEAKER_06: And then it was nice that a couple of the outlets, you know, recognized me and him at the same time.
- 25:50SPEAKER_06: So that was cool.
- 25:52SPEAKER_06: That felt really nice.
- 25:53SPEAKER_06: But you know what's really nice?
- 25:56SPEAKER_06: When I'm with my son, it's just me and him and nobody else.
- 26:00SPEAKER_06: And I could be driving in my car, and then people start shouting my name, like, yo, enough, what's up, bro?
- 26:06SPEAKER_06: Brooklyn, I see you.
- 26:07SPEAKER_06: And then a few of those happen, right?
- 26:10SPEAKER_06: And then my my riot guy right there would be like, damn, pop.
- 26:15SPEAKER_06: He's really outside still.
- 26:17SPEAKER_06: You know what I'm saying?
- 26:18SPEAKER_06: So that kind of shit is that it's like a cosign to, you know, to let my, you know, my son know, like, you know, I'm still a big presence and we still out here doing the best we can to push this culture.
- 26:29SPEAKER_06: And we'll be right back.
- 26:30SPEAKER_06: And now, back to the show.
- 26:32SPEAKER_04: Riot, right.
- 26:33SPEAKER_04: Once y'all arrived over there, man, you was there with your two pillars, bro.
- 26:37SPEAKER_04: Like, what was that about?
- 26:38SPEAKER_04: How you know what I'm saying?
- 26:39SPEAKER_04: That hit the heart a hundred percent.
- 26:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it hit it hit the heart because, you know, I I took I brought my mom and my dad to the last Grammys that I that I was nominated for two years ago.
- 26:49SPEAKER_00: But because I was a part of like a different type of nomination, the, you know, I I didn't really have much control on who could come and how the situation was.
- 26:58SPEAKER_00: It was my first Grammys ever, so it was kind of like a little more sloppy.
- 27:02SPEAKER_00: And I had this guilt when I left, like, you know what, they came and they installed me, but they weren't really next to me.
- 27:08SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 27:09SPEAKER_00: I'm like, I felt kind of bad about that.
- 27:11SPEAKER_00: I'm like, damn, next time I get nominated, I'm gonna make sure that they they right next to me.
- 27:16SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 27:17SPEAKER_00: So time out.
- 27:18SPEAKER_05: Time out, pause that, time out, time out, pause that right there.
- 27:21SPEAKER_05: Please pay attention to the fact that he said, next time I get nominated, like I'm going back again.
- 27:26SPEAKER_05: All right, and again, and again.
- 27:29SPEAKER_05: All right, keep going.
- 27:32SPEAKER_05: Keep going, keep going, keep talking that talk.
- 27:34SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, this time I this time I got to bring my mom and my pops, and you know, and the best part, you know what the best part?
- 27:41SPEAKER_00: It wasn't eat well, the best part was the the carpet and you know, doing that.
- 27:45SPEAKER_00: That was dope, but you know what was the best part for me?
- 27:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, just being in LA and we going to the diner and we all just eating some food, you know what I'm saying?
- 27:56SPEAKER_00: That was that was weird because I'm like, damn, I haven't seen this in so long.
- 28:02SPEAKER_00: I'm like, this is weird, like you know weird to you, right?
- 28:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, just regular, regular normal shit.
- 28:08SPEAKER_00: Like, that whole Grammy weekend, that Grammy trip, just having my parents together with me, you know, and me realizing like, damn, two, three years ago, I didn't have no career, no nothing.
- 28:19SPEAKER_00: I I'm able to fly them to the other side of the country, and we just, you know, they in a black truck just going to the Grammys.
- 28:27SPEAKER_00: That shit is the coolest shit ever.
- 28:29SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 28:31SPEAKER_04: I I personally saw when uh when you posted it, and I was like, oh shit.
- 28:37SPEAKER_04: I ain't gonna lie.
- 28:38SPEAKER_04: I was in the crib.
- 28:39SPEAKER_04: I showed my my my lady and everybody.
- 28:41SPEAKER_04: I was like, yo, yo, but I put that shit on though.
- 28:46SPEAKER_00: He looked good though.
- 28:47SPEAKER_00: You saw him?
- 28:51SPEAKER_00: Clean, clean.
- 28:54SPEAKER_06: He done pleased up nice, yo.
- 28:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 28:57SPEAKER_06: Yo, I threw on the tux for my for my boy.
- 28:59SPEAKER_06: I had to.
- 29:03SPEAKER_06: Put the cuplings on.
- 29:04SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 29:05SPEAKER_06: My son, my son got me for was it Christmas?
- 29:08SPEAKER_06: Yeah, just for your birthday.
- 29:12SPEAKER_06: He got me some cufflinks, but the cufflinks were turntables.
- 29:16SPEAKER_06: Oh, that's hard.
- 29:17SPEAKER_06: That's fire.
- 29:18SPEAKER_06: That's fire.
- 29:19SPEAKER_06: I I you know, I put them on my my tucks and I was like, shh, being as fire.
- 29:24SPEAKER_04: But but but without me saying, we all saw that moment and we was OD proud.
- 29:29SPEAKER_04: A hundred percent proud.
- 29:30SPEAKER_04: Anybody that been to Brooklyn when when EJ was born, we was OD proud of that moment.
- 29:35SPEAKER_04: And I love the fact that you said, next time, family, because I'm gonna be up there again.
- 29:40SPEAKER_04: But then we move forward, you're doing the music, you're doing this and that.
- 29:43SPEAKER_04: And then it's something that I personally never even thought was a thought or a conversation, and then here comes Riot, and like, you a heavy hitter now, bro.
- 29:52SPEAKER_04: Like, like, I don't know.
- 29:53SPEAKER_04: Like, that took another meaning for me.
- 29:55SPEAKER_04: Because I'm a hater, I don't like nobody, none of that.
- 29:58SPEAKER_05: But wait, but wait, books, but wait, but wait, but wait.
- 30:01SPEAKER_05: He didn't here's the crazy part.
- 30:03SPEAKER_05: It's how crazy it is with enough and this whole crew shit.
- 30:07SPEAKER_05: He had to ask.
- 30:08SPEAKER_05: He was like, yo, can I be down with a heavy hitter?
- 30:10SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 30:11SPEAKER_04: That's what I'm saying.
- 30:11SPEAKER_04: That's what I'm saying.
- 30:13SPEAKER_06: Hold on, y'all.
- 30:14SPEAKER_06: We were in Puerto Rico when we announced it.
- 30:16SPEAKER_06: Right was like, what you mean?
- 30:18SPEAKER_06: I've always been a heavy hitter.
- 30:19SPEAKER_06: I was bags.
- 30:20unknown: There we go.
- 30:21SPEAKER_02: There we go.
- 30:22SPEAKER_01: Yo, there we go.
- 30:23SPEAKER_01: But the the way I've always seen it, the way I've always seen it, like we're grandfathered in, like, I feel like little JQ, my son, even though he's not, he's just a heavy hitter because he's already you know, grandfathered in.
- 30:34SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 30:35SPEAKER_01: Uh Chris G, like I've always felt like that's DJ Lobo's son.
- 30:39SPEAKER_01: Like, he's grandfathered in already.
- 30:41SPEAKER_01: Like, you know, but I get it, you know, that Right, right.
- 30:45SPEAKER_04: What what what does this crew mean to you?
- 30:48SPEAKER_04: I mean, besides, of course, that your father is the heavy hitter, but what does the crew mean to you in any way?
- 30:53SPEAKER_00: It just means family, you know what I'm saying?
- 30:55SPEAKER_00: Like how how everybody could just come together and you know that they care about one another.
- 30:59SPEAKER_00: And it's it's it's music that bounds everybody together, but it's it's it's love that keeps everybody connected, you know what I'm saying?
- 31:06SPEAKER_00: So I think that's more important than anything.
- 31:10SPEAKER_00: So that's why, you know, I admire the heavy hitters because you know, everybody looks out for one another, and everybody's just proud of what they do.
- 31:19SPEAKER_00: So, you know what I'm saying?
- 31:20SPEAKER_01: So I think I think that's why we lasted so long because we're a big fucking family, and you know, we don't I gotta tell everybody we don't always get along.
- 31:29SPEAKER_01: We, you know, sometimes you know, there's little friction here, that but like enough always said it, brothers and sisters, they you know, always fight.
- 31:35SPEAKER_00: When you got a when you got 150 uh brothers and sisters, it's gonna be a that's gonna be a normal, right?
- 31:43SPEAKER_05: When we know and you might you might not you might go a long time without seeing you know any members of the crew, and then as soon as you see each other, it's like you guys haven't seen having it's not like you guys just saw each other yesterday.
- 31:53SPEAKER_05: Like even like the last time I saw, I think the last time I saw Riot in person was probably like well, a few years ago, and then I saw him again not too long ago in the we just walking in the in the build in the Sony building in the lobby.
- 32:07SPEAKER_05: Like we find a oh shit, yo, we in the lobby hugging in the lobby.
- 32:16SPEAKER_05: Like we just you know what I'm saying?
- 32:17SPEAKER_03: I forgot.
- 32:18SPEAKER_05: Yeah, right.
- 32:18SPEAKER_05: But that's what I'm that's what I'm saying.
- 32:20SPEAKER_05: You see each other, and you kind of like pick it up right from where you left off.
- 32:22SPEAKER_05: You know, that's a great part of being in the spot.
- 32:25SPEAKER_05: Yo, with that.
- 32:26SPEAKER_00: Fun fact, Cass told me how to ride a bike.
- 32:29SPEAKER_00: Oh wow.
- 32:30SPEAKER_05: Oh shit.
- 32:31SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 32:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I did.
- 32:33SPEAKER_03: I did.
- 32:33SPEAKER_00: I always remember that.
- 32:35SPEAKER_00: I always remember that.
- 32:36SPEAKER_05: That's how long I've been around, bro.
- 32:37SPEAKER_04: That's how long we've been around.
- 32:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you're never in the game show.
- 32:41SPEAKER_04: Yo, right.
- 32:42SPEAKER_01: I got a quick question.
- 32:43SPEAKER_01: I got a quick question.
- 32:44SPEAKER_01: So I always complain about, you know, in the past five, six years, artists all jumping on, you know, 70 BPM beats, you know, the the tempo.
- 32:55SPEAKER_01: The tempo of these songs are all the fucking same.
- 32:57SPEAKER_01: And I mean like, you know, for for instance, when when when like a boogie jumps on a fucking track with up tempo, 95, 96 beats per minute, like I feel the best comes out of him.
- 33:08SPEAKER_01: You know what I'm saying?
- 33:09SPEAKER_01: And maybe you can answer this.
- 33:11SPEAKER_01: Why is it that these artists want to jump on these same 70 BPM, 65 BPM?
- 33:17SPEAKER_01: You know, uh is it is it just the trend?
- 33:20SPEAKER_01: Is it is it the producers are feeding on this?
- 33:22SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't, I don't know.
- 33:24SPEAKER_01: Do you guys agree with me?
- 33:26SPEAKER_01: Should be stale, bro.
- 33:27SPEAKER_01: Like everybody's gonna do it.
- 33:28SPEAKER_04: Oh, it's the same shit.
- 33:28SPEAKER_04: That's what you're saying.
- 33:29SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's stale.
- 33:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that there's no tempo.
- 33:33SPEAKER_04: That is like there's no tempo.
- 33:34SPEAKER_00: There's multiple things that go into it.
- 33:36SPEAKER_00: I'ma just I'm gonna try to see it.
- 33:37SPEAKER_00: That's I'm gonna try to explain it to me, right?
- 33:40SPEAKER_00: There's no right or wrong to none of this, right?
- 33:42SPEAKER_00: All like the tempo thing is subjective, you know what I'm saying?
- 33:45SPEAKER_00: But at the same time, when you're trying to make a song that people could dance to, sing to.
- 33:50SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 33:51SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 33:52SPEAKER_00: So if it's one four you saying 70, I'm reading it as 140, because that's how, you know what I'm saying?
- 33:56SPEAKER_00: Right, of course.
- 33:57SPEAKER_00: And again, a 130 to 140, when you in that crowd, it's easier to jump up and down to that.
- 34:03SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 34:04SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 34:05SPEAKER_00: If it's like a 90 or 100 BPM, it's kind of awkward to do that when you dance, right?
- 34:10SPEAKER_00: If you if we're talking like, because like once you passed 160, 170, unless you spacing out the drums, it becomes like a Cali type beat, a Cali bounce.
- 34:20SPEAKER_00: It becomes, you know what I'm saying.
- 34:22SPEAKER_01: At that point, he's talking like 92 beats pm.
- 34:25SPEAKER_01: That's what he's saying.
- 34:25SPEAKER_01: You know what I'm saying?
- 34:26SPEAKER_00: Like all that West Coast music, that's like, you know what I'm saying?
- 34:30SPEAKER_00: So you could bounce to all those things, right?
- 34:33SPEAKER_00: There's you know, like I said, the the BPM doesn't really matter, but I feel like people stick to that 130, 140 because it's such a it's such a non-intimidating tempo for it for multiple artists from multiple genres to to merge together.
- 34:50SPEAKER_00: Once you go to a 90, 100, a certain rapper might not really find they they literally might not be able to do a flow on that tempo comfortably.
- 35:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we get it.
- 35:02SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 35:03SPEAKER_01: Like, listen, I listen, right now, right now I'm rock, right now I'm rocking to like I really like 42 Thugs record, um thick one.
- 35:10SPEAKER_01: It's not a bad record.
- 35:11SPEAKER_01: That's a good record.
- 35:12SPEAKER_01: It's a fun record, right?
- 35:13SPEAKER_01: It's not a fucking hit, but it's a fun record for the club, and it has that 100 BPM.
- 35:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Detroit goes there.
- 35:20SPEAKER_00: Detroit goes there.
- 35:21SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 35:22SPEAKER_00: It goes there.
- 35:22SPEAKER_01: Correct.
- 35:23SPEAKER_01: So, but I I I feel like that the game is missing that, number one.
- 35:26SPEAKER_01: Number two, I remember at one point I had I turned around and said to you, yo, you need to do a Dumbo record.
- 35:33SPEAKER_01: Remember me telling you that.
- 35:35SPEAKER_01: And then out of nowhere, like three months later, Tuti comes out, and I'm like, hold on, this is fucking Dumbo.
- 35:42SPEAKER_01: Oh, you know, I got excited.
- 35:44SPEAKER_01: Camelo's looking for points.
- 35:45SPEAKER_01: Look out! Not at all.
- 35:48SPEAKER_01: Not at all.
- 35:49SPEAKER_01: Not at all.
- 35:49SPEAKER_01: But I got happy when I heard that.
- 35:51SPEAKER_01: I was like, okay, like, you know, trying different fucking shit.
- 35:54SPEAKER_01: Like that as a DJ, that gets me excited, you know, because you're trying different shit.
- 35:58SPEAKER_01: Like, I'm like, oh man, uh, you know, I got ex- I just got excited.
- 36:01SPEAKER_01: Whatever.
- 36:01SPEAKER_01: All right, whatever.
- 36:03SPEAKER_05: You know, Camilo, Camilo, Camilo, Camilo, Camilo, Camilo's address in Queens.
- 36:07SPEAKER_05: You can send the check to his address in Queens.
- 36:09SPEAKER_00: I feel like that song's gonna revive more towards this summer in New York.
- 36:12SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 36:13SPEAKER_00: That's when that song you're gonna really see that.
- 36:15SPEAKER_00: Because we dropped it, we dropped it in the fucking winter, like, you know what I'm saying?
- 36:19SPEAKER_00: So that's that's the type of record that's gonna pick up on like you know.
- 36:23SPEAKER_01: That's the type of record that's always in my fucking crate, and I always hit during the night.
- 36:28SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 36:28SPEAKER_01: Almost every night.
- 36:29SPEAKER_01: Like real talk.
- 36:30SPEAKER_01: And I might play it fast, but I'd say.
- 36:34SPEAKER_00: But I love I love how they sound on that record.
- 36:36SPEAKER_00: It's fun.
- 36:36SPEAKER_00: They they compliment each other on the five.
- 36:38SPEAKER_00: It's fun.
- 36:38SPEAKER_00: It's one of my favorite records out there.
- 36:41SPEAKER_00: Uh for sure.
- 36:42SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 36:42SPEAKER_00: It was so organic.
- 36:43SPEAKER_00: It was so organic, and it was just fun, and it just happened so easy, you know what I'm saying?
- 36:48SPEAKER_01: So listen, Ryan might do a bachata next.
- 36:51SPEAKER_01: You know, who knows, bro?
- 36:52SPEAKER_00: Go get that.
- 36:53SPEAKER_00: Go get that.
- 36:54SPEAKER_01: Romeo Santos!
- 36:56SPEAKER_04: Go get it, yeah.
- 36:58SPEAKER_06: Go get it.
- 36:59SPEAKER_06: That's what's up.
- 37:00SPEAKER_04: Riot, I mean, needless to say, bro, we're super proud of you, you know what I'm saying?
- 37:04SPEAKER_04: And we just hope you keep climbing that ladder.
- 37:06SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 37:07SPEAKER_04: Like, like, you don't understand, bro.
- 37:09SPEAKER_04: I mean, you probably get it.
- 37:10SPEAKER_04: You have a big, big, humongous fan group behind you, bro.
- 37:13SPEAKER_04: And we got you, you know what I mean?
- 37:14SPEAKER_04: And like, just keep like making us say, oh shit, that's riot.
- 37:18SPEAKER_04: I think that should be your new drop on the record.
- 37:20SPEAKER_04: Oh shit, it's right.
- 37:22SPEAKER_04: I think it's a new drop, man.
- 37:26SPEAKER_00: Let me a new tire.
- 37:27SPEAKER_00: I love that, man.
- 37:29SPEAKER_04: We'll say anything we need to know, right?
- 37:33SPEAKER_04: Anything we touch on?
- 37:34SPEAKER_04: Yeah, nah.
- 37:36SPEAKER_00: I've been working on a lot of new albums with other artists.
- 37:40SPEAKER_00: I got my uh next single coming out, probably uh what's what's it being April, May?
- 37:45SPEAKER_00: Look, look, look forward to that.
- 37:47SPEAKER_00: Got some new visuals on the way, new collaborations on the way, and a lot of just new artists I'm working with and different genres and shit like that.
- 37:57SPEAKER_00: So I'm excited to see, you know, where that goes and and for you know how how y'all feel about those type of records.
- 38:04SPEAKER_00: So stay tuned for all that.
- 38:06SPEAKER_01: Well, I got I got one more question, one more question.
- 38:09SPEAKER_01: And this is a drill, drill question.
- 38:11SPEAKER_01: Is drill is it a rap?
- 38:14SPEAKER_01: Is it going super underground now?
- 38:15SPEAKER_01: Like it's just that's a good one.
- 38:17SPEAKER_01: Where though?
- 38:17SPEAKER_01: Like I'm gonna do it.
- 38:18SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna be honest, you know, they was asking me the same thing before I got on, you know.
- 38:22SPEAKER_00: So I can't I'm gonna say you never know, right?
- 38:25SPEAKER_00: So, you know, it's obviously a niche genre to answer your question, like it's an it's a niche genre, but I don't want to count it out because you know that's what they try to do to me, and I I broke through that bit, so you never know.
- 38:39SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 38:40SPEAKER_00: So you know or you know what is about drill?
- 38:44SPEAKER_00: Drill is is it's so it's so like especially with the Jersey influence now, it's right.
- 38:51SPEAKER_00: It's it's such a I think it evolved.
- 38:54SPEAKER_00: It's such a it's such a like it's one of those genres where you could do something so simple, but it it hits so hard.
- 39:02SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 39:03SPEAKER_00: You could singable, it's danceable, it's memeable.
- 39:06SPEAKER_00: So I wouldn't sleep on it.
- 39:08SPEAKER_04: Is Jersey is Jersey having more fun with it than New York was though?
- 39:11SPEAKER_04: Like is Jersey making it more enjoyable in a way?
- 39:15SPEAKER_04: Because when I hear the records, I think the Jersey guys are doing like they'll have fun.
- 39:19SPEAKER_01: I think the Jersey, I think the Jersey makes it more fun, they're less violent.
- 39:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
- 39:24SPEAKER_04: No, no, that's exactly what I'm saying.
- 39:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 39:26SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 39:27SPEAKER_01: You know, the the drill that we know, the BX drill, the fuck it's all, you know, the same clah clah get, you know, kill you, kill you.
- 39:35SPEAKER_01: You know, Jersey, Jersey.
- 39:37SPEAKER_00: Oh, go ahead, but I was just gonna say, I was just gonna say Jersey's is Jersey's having fun with it.
- 39:41SPEAKER_01: Like, you know what I'm saying?
- 39:43SPEAKER_00: Jersey jersey jersey is just like like like you know, I started with the drill shit, but like even big guy right now, you know, top top five song in the United States, like on YouTube, like is the Jersey beat.
- 39:54SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 39:55SPEAKER_00: A lot of my biggest records, Delhi Jersey beat, Princess Diana.
- 39:59SPEAKER_00: Uh no, there's no Jersey on that.
- 40:00SPEAKER_00: Barbie World got Jersey.
- 40:02SPEAKER_00: Uh, what's it called?
- 40:04SPEAKER_00: Hannah Montana Jersey.
- 40:05SPEAKER_00: So, like, a lot of those records, Boys of Liar Part 2, Jersey.
- 40:09SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 40:10SPEAKER_00: Even the the new Uzi song, Jersey.
- 40:13SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 40:14SPEAKER_00: Right, right, right, right.
- 40:15SPEAKER_00: The last two big Uzi songs.
- 40:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 40:18SPEAKER_01: Jersey.
- 40:18SPEAKER_01: That's a fact.
- 40:19SPEAKER_00: But the cool thing about it is not a lot of people, people, yo, I be playing these jersey beats for these artists, and they are scared.
- 40:26SPEAKER_00: They are they are scared to get on them.
- 40:29SPEAKER_00: They don't know what to do with them.
- 40:30SPEAKER_00: That's crazy.
- 40:31SPEAKER_01: They're intimidating.
- 40:32SPEAKER_01: I mean, look at look, yo, look at look at the bait.
- 40:36SPEAKER_00: But some artists, they just they just scared, bro.
- 40:41SPEAKER_05: To me, for me, those artists that are are those artists that are from like the New Jersey, New York area, or is it artists that are?
- 40:47SPEAKER_00: I don't blame them.
- 40:47SPEAKER_00: I don't blame them.
- 40:49SPEAKER_00: It's hard to get out of your box and try something new, but I encourage artists to do that shit because you just never know.
- 40:55SPEAKER_00: You don't gotta put it out.
- 40:57SPEAKER_00: Just try it.
- 40:57SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 40:59SPEAKER_01: Like I'm trying, I'm trying to bring up the baby.
- 41:01SPEAKER_01: The baby jumped on some Jersey vibe and he came back.
- 41:04SPEAKER_04: Oh, he's winning with those.
- 41:05SPEAKER_04: He's winning with him.
- 41:06SPEAKER_04: He's winning with those.
- 41:07SPEAKER_01: Not one, not two, not three.
- 41:08SPEAKER_04: Like, like he's like you got three, you got three in a row.
- 41:11SPEAKER_04: You got three in a row now.
- 41:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he hopped on the uh he hopped on the Hannah Montana song with Ice and Shopper.
- 41:17SPEAKER_00: So he's he see like when our I like when other artists are open to that.
- 41:22SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 41:22SPEAKER_00: So that's how we continue to push hip hop.
- 41:26SPEAKER_00: Because you know, if everybody's doing their own little niche, nobody's really collaborating at that, nobody's trying new things.
- 41:33SPEAKER_00: We're not pushing hip-hop.
- 41:35SPEAKER_01: That was my fucking point.
- 41:36SPEAKER_01: That was my point, bringing up about the BPM and all that, you know?
- 41:40SPEAKER_01: That's exactly my point right there.
- 41:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you know what's interesting to me that we didn't talk about yet?
- 41:45SPEAKER_06: How when you were a child, your favorite cartoon was Spongebob.
- 41:50SPEAKER_06: And then now, years later, you have the future, all these young kids dancing to your music because of the Spongebob movie.
- 41:59SPEAKER_06: How does that feel?
- 42:00SPEAKER_00: Yo, it's it's it's crazy.
- 42:03SPEAKER_06: So you're posted like the future, and they go, Oh, little kids just going crazy.
- 42:07SPEAKER_00: Crazy.
- 42:08SPEAKER_00: It's crazy.
- 42:10SPEAKER_06: How do you feel about that?
- 42:11SPEAKER_00: I feel I feel I feel grateful and thankful and blessed because like you said, it was my favorite show, still is my favorite show.
- 42:19SPEAKER_00: And they could have, you know, hit up anybody else to do it.
- 42:23SPEAKER_00: You know, they let me uh executive produce the record.
- 42:26SPEAKER_00: I could, you know, I could have choose to do anything with it.
- 42:29SPEAKER_00: And I'm just glad I was able to do it in my way.
- 42:33SPEAKER_00: And like I said, continue to push that tri-state sound, that Jersey sound, and it's stamped.
- 42:39SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 42:40SPEAKER_01: And let me tell you something, that record is fun.
- 42:42SPEAKER_01: I play that shit.
- 42:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, man.
- 42:44SPEAKER_00: I'm not gonna see.
- 42:46SPEAKER_00: I was gonna say, I'm I'm surprised I saw a video, like it's in the club, but it's in the schools.
- 42:52SPEAKER_00: What's the last record?
- 42:53SPEAKER_00: It's everywhere.
- 42:54SPEAKER_00: Like, it's everywhere.
- 42:55SPEAKER_00: It's my real life, you know, like that's that's one of the things.
- 42:59SPEAKER_05: You know what?
- 43:00SPEAKER_05: It's also one of those records that people didn't expect and didn't see it coming, right?
- 43:03SPEAKER_05: Like when it did count, when it did come, people didn't really take it seriously because they saw it as a move, like, oh, this is just part of a movie.
- 43:10SPEAKER_05: But it it transcended, like it went, you know, it transcended the internet, the clubs, the radio.
- 43:16SPEAKER_05: Like, it's just the energy of it, it's a good energy, it's a good vibe.
- 43:19SPEAKER_05: And people just, like you say, relate to it.
- 43:21SPEAKER_05: You know, it's almost, honestly, it's almost like the new SpongeBob Spongebob theme song.
- 43:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.

- 43:52SPEAKER_06: We gotta celebrate you.
- 43:53SPEAKER_06: This is what this podcast is all about.
- 43:55SPEAKER_04: No, because look at that.
- 43:56SPEAKER_04: Like, those things are tied to like real situations.
- 44:00SPEAKER_04: Like the Barbie is Barbie.
- 44:02SPEAKER_04: You know what I'm saying?
- 44:02SPEAKER_04: Like, and now you got SpongeBob like shit.
- 44:05SPEAKER_04: You're not just making records for an artist.
- 44:06SPEAKER_04: You're making records for shit that's like already established, man.
- 44:10SPEAKER_04: You shit.
- 44:11SPEAKER_04: You better pat yourself in the back every day, bro.
- 44:14SPEAKER_05: How did that Barbie thing come along?
- 44:15SPEAKER_05: Because it ended up being one of the biggest movies.
- 44:18SPEAKER_05: Probably one of the biggest movies in the last 10 years.
- 44:20SPEAKER_05: Yeah, man.
- 44:21SPEAKER_05: How does that even come up?
- 44:22SPEAKER_05: How did that even come about?
- 44:23SPEAKER_05: How are they paying attention to what's happening on the street level to go, hi?
- 44:27SPEAKER_05: You know what?
- 44:28SPEAKER_00: That might work.
- 44:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, my manager was like, yo, Mark Ronson, he's executive producing the album.
- 44:35SPEAKER_00: He wants to meet with you in ICE and he wants to play y'all some of the movie.
- 44:39SPEAKER_00: So we went, we was in New York.
- 44:41SPEAKER_00: We pulled up on him and I think it was in Soho or something like that.
- 44:45SPEAKER_00: And he played us a private, you know, five, ten minutes of the movie.
- 44:49SPEAKER_00: It was, it wasn't even done.
- 44:50SPEAKER_00: Like some of the you saw like the background and the green screens of certain things.
- 44:55SPEAKER_00: It was super not done.
- 44:56SPEAKER_00: And he's like, look, we wanna, we just wanna do uh we wanna do a song with you guys.
- 45:04SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, bet so you know um, I'm thinking, you know, sample drill in New York was still kind of it was fizzing out a little bit, but it was still like the main thing that was hot.
- 45:17SPEAKER_00: So I'm thinking Barbie, you know, aqua, Barbie, Barbie girl.
- 45:22SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 45:23SPEAKER_00: So after that, I flipped it in like five minutes on the on the kitchen on the kitchen island, no headphones.
- 45:31SPEAKER_00: And then I remember um we did the song, we wrote like a verse, we wrote like a verse and like um a hook, and then we sent it to Mark and you know they liked it or whatever.
- 45:46SPEAKER_00: But then me and Ice was like, man, we we this is around the time we working like with Nikki, like the whole Princess Diana song.
- 45:54SPEAKER_00: I think it was either about to come out or just came out, it was happening though, and we like yo, but like Nikki Nikki's the Barbie though, you know what I'm saying?
- 46:03SPEAKER_00: Like we gotta send it to her too.
- 46:06SPEAKER_00: You know, like we gotta send it to her too, bro.
- 46:08SPEAKER_00: I felt like it was only right to to include her on that moment, and they already had like that momentum together.
- 46:14SPEAKER_00: We was like, man, why not?
- 46:16SPEAKER_00: You know?
- 46:16SPEAKER_00: So let's go.
- 46:18SPEAKER_00: We sent we sent her to that.
- 46:20SPEAKER_00: And you know, she valued it, and now that you know.
- 46:25SPEAKER_01: And to to answer your question, Cass, how did that happen?
- 46:28SPEAKER_01: Mark Ronson, right?
- 46:29SPEAKER_01: Mark Ronson, to me, in my heart, even though he's a producer and plays instruments, he's a DJ, bro.
- 46:36SPEAKER_01: He's a fucking DJ, and that's how that happened.
- 46:38SPEAKER_01: And you understand how important DJs are to the fucking game.
- 46:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, man.
- 46:41SPEAKER_01: Like, I I feel like we don't get credit enough DJs out there in 2026.
- 46:46SPEAKER_01: No, you know, with it, yeah, no doubt, DJ, but they don't give us that credit.
- 46:51SPEAKER_01: Like, you can't forget, like, that's how that happened, man.
- 46:54SPEAKER_00: Sometimes how to hottest DJ at first, he had to put me on.
- 46:58SPEAKER_00: Like, yeah, he put me on.
- 47:00SPEAKER_00: Because it's just not it's not like it's DJ Mark Ronson, it was just Mark Ronson.
- 47:04SPEAKER_00: I'm like, okay, cool.
- 47:05SPEAKER_00: He did, he did uh Amy Whitehouse.
- 47:07SPEAKER_00: I'm going in there like that.
- 47:08SPEAKER_00: I'm like, oh, he's gonna be like so to find out his lore and that his love for music comes from that, you know, hip hop DJing, and that he still to this day has that love and respect for it is inspiring.
- 47:22SPEAKER_00: You don't gotta be just a DJ or just a hip hop lover.
- 47:26SPEAKER_00: You could just love music.
- 47:27SPEAKER_00: Period.
- 47:28SPEAKER_00: You good at it at all.
- 47:30SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
