- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Malay with Fexingo! I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna! Episode 38 already — can you believe it? Lucas: I know, right? And we've learned so much together. Today, we're talking about something everyone experiences: the weather. Luna: Oh, good. Because where I am right now, it is scorching hot. I need the words for that! Lucas: Perfect. Let's start with the basics. In Malay, 'hot weather' is 'cuaca panas'. Luna: Cuaca panas. Lucas: Yeah! 'Panas' means hot. And 'cuaca' means weather. So 'cuaca panas' is hot weather. Luna: Got it. Cuaca panas. Lucas: Now, if you want to say 'Today is hot', you say 'Hari ini panas'. Luna: Hari ini panas. Lucas: Exactly. 'Hari ini' means today. So 'Hari ini panas' — today is hot. Luna: Hari ini panas. That's easy. So if today is cold, do I say 'Hari ini sejuk'? Lucas: You're already ahead! Yes, 'sejuk' means cold. So 'Hari ini sejuk' — today is cold. Luna: Hari ini sejuk. Nice. And what about 'cold weather'? Is it 'cuaca sejuk'? Lucas: Exactly right. 'Cuaca sejuk' — cold weather. Luna: Cuaca sejuk. I love how consistent this is. Lucas: Right? Now, what if you want to say 'I feel hot'? That's 'Saya rasa panas'. Luna: Saya rasa panas. Lucas: 'Rasa' means feel. So 'Saya rasa panas' — I feel hot. Luna: And 'Saya rasa sejuk' for I feel cold? Lucas: You got it! 'Saya rasa sejuk' — I feel cold. Luna: Let me try them all. Cuaca panas. Hari ini panas. Saya rasa panas. And for cold: cuaca sejuk. Hari ini sejuk. Saya rasa sejuk. Lucas: That's perfect, Luna! Really smooth. Luna: Thanks! So if I'm walking outside and it's super hot, I can just say 'Hari ini panas'. Lucas: Exactly. Or if you're in an air-conditioned room, you might say 'Saya rasa sejuk'. Luna: That'll come in handy. My office is freezing. Lucas: Let's do a little practice. I'll say a situation, and you respond in Malay. Ready? Luna: Ready! Lucas: You step outside and it's really hot. What do you say? Luna: Hari ini panas. Lucas: Great! Now you're at the beach and the weather is hot. Luna: Cuaca panas. Lucas: Nice. Now you're in a cold room and you want to say you feel cold. Luna: Saya rasa sejuk. Lucas: Perfect. You're doing awesome. Luna: I'm feeling confident. Let's use these in a real conversation. Lucas: Okay, imagine you meet a friend. They say 'Cuaca hari ini panas, ya?' Luna: I could say 'Ya, saya rasa panas'. Lucas: That's spot on. Or if you disagree and think it's cold, you'd say... Luna: 'Tidak, saya rasa sejuk'? Wait, we haven't learned 'tidak' yet. Lucas: We have, actually! In Episode 8, we covered 'tidak' for no. So 'Tidak, saya rasa sejuk' works perfectly. Luna: Oh, right! I remember now. Tid-ak. Okay, so 'Tidak, saya rasa sejuk'. Lucas: Yes. So today's phrases are: cuaca panas, cuaca sejuk, hari ini panas, hari ini sejuk, saya rasa panas, saya rasa sejuk. Six phrases, super useful. Luna: I'm going to use 'Hari ini panas' every time I step outside this week. Lucas: Do it! And you can check the weather app and say 'Cuaca panas' or 'Cuaca sejuk'. Luna: That's a good idea. Okay, let's do a quick recap before we go. Lucas: Sure. First: hot weather? Luna: Cuaca panas. Lucas: Cold weather? Luna: Cuaca sejuk. Lucas: Today is hot? Luna: Hari ini panas. Lucas: Today is cold? Luna: Hari ini sejuk. Lucas: I feel hot? Luna: Saya rasa panas. Lucas: And I feel cold? Luna: Saya rasa sejuk. Lucas: You nailed it, Luna. Great job today. Luna: Thanks, Lucas! This was fun. Now I can complain about the weather in Malay. Lucas: That's a skill everyone needs. Thanks for joining us on Fexingo! Practice these phrases and we'll see you next time. Luna: Selamat tinggal! Bye! Lucas: Selamat tinggal! Keep practicing.
