- 0:03Speaker 1: Ft in the summer.
- 0:04Speaker 2: It's that time of year where people are going to
- 0:06Speaker 2: be in places. KP is in a place Aircrats is
- 0:11Speaker 2: visibly in a unique location today.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Krats. Is that a press box?
- 0:17Speaker 3: It is a press No, not a press box. It's
- 0:19Speaker 3: a tower, a tower overlooking like a clover leaf.
- 0:22Speaker 4: Type of John Oh.
- 0:24Speaker 3: It's great baseball everywhere, high quality baseball too these days.
- 0:28Speaker 3: At the end of the tournament, it gets better.
- 0:30Speaker 2: And if anyone wants to leave KP, they have the
- 0:32Speaker 2: three sixty view in the tower to make sure that
- 0:34Speaker 2: nobody leaves the grounds.
- 0:36Speaker 1: No quitters today.
- 0:38Speaker 5: Hey, is your air conditioning in that tower?
- 0:40Speaker 4: By any chance?
- 0:43Speaker 3: Good Assis deals for the air conditioning, because I would
- 0:46Speaker 3: be sweating. I would be sweating like Francisco Survelli at
- 0:49Speaker 3: a drum test right now if I was sitting down
- 0:51Speaker 3: in the Georgia heat.
- 0:55Speaker 1: And you can insert that name with many many others.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Actually, real quick, did you hear Brian Anderson on the
- 1:00Speaker 2: race broadcast the other day?
- 1:03Speaker 3: I wanted the TEXTBA so bad, but I didn't have
- 1:06Speaker 3: his number when he said that, just a this is
- 1:09Speaker 3: large shout out. He had a Max Kapler hit a
- 1:11Speaker 3: fly ball to center field. Right to the track, right
- 1:14Speaker 3: the wall, caught and then he goes eighty games ago.
- 1:18Speaker 4: That would have been a homer too soon.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Never, No, that should be part of the lexicon. I
- 1:26Speaker 2: respect that. I really like it. Yeah, I mean it
- 1:28Speaker 2: is part of the game. We don't have to hide
- 1:30Speaker 2: it. It shouldn't be awkward. It should just be like, hey,
- 1:33Speaker 2: this person juiced up. They got caught. Now we can
- 1:36Speaker 2: make fun of it.
- 1:38Speaker 4: Do the crime you do the.
- 1:39Speaker 5: Time exactly, and the time and the time is forever.
- 1:46Speaker 4: You didn't until you can come out and tell me
- 1:48Speaker 4: it wasn't cream. That's right.
- 1:52Speaker 2: No weird virus or any of that. Hey, we have
- 1:55Speaker 2: a superhero graphic from an FT fan. I was just
- 1:58Speaker 2: scrolling through mentions. I was like, oh, this was fun.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Noah put this together on X sent it over to us.
- 2:04Speaker 2: It's the Foul Territory League crafts.
- 2:07Speaker 3: Any complaints zero, I mean, besides the fact that AJ
- 2:12Speaker 3: is not the Flash. Yeah, exactly, like I put in Twitter.
- 2:15Speaker 3: But you have to know who I am. People are like,
- 2:19Speaker 3: people are like, who.
- 2:20Speaker 4: Is the Green?
- 2:20Speaker 3: Why is Krats Green? The Martian Manhunter essentially put together
- 2:27Speaker 3: the Justice League. I mean, one time read a DC
- 2:29Speaker 3: comic he is shape shifting, teleportation and flying abilities, Like
- 2:35Speaker 3: what else? What else do I need to have as
- 2:37Speaker 3: a power legendary?
- 2:39Speaker 1: I love that KP.
- 2:40Speaker 2: You're not on there because this fan was clearly a
- 2:43Speaker 2: Dodger fan, so they included the Dodgers' Territory show. But
- 2:46Speaker 2: if any Bluebird fans want to get involved at some point.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Who would you be?
- 2:51Speaker 2: I think this is the most lay up question of
- 2:53Speaker 2: all time.
- 2:54Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, Superman is kind of the name that
- 2:57Speaker 5: I was given, but in it's kind of odd because
- 3:00Speaker 5: I got it after robbing the home Run, so I
- 3:02Speaker 5: thought spider Man would have been more fitting. But the
- 3:06Speaker 5: Superman name is kind of started in Toronto, It's kind
- 3:09Speaker 5: of followed me throughout my career. It's kind of cool though.
- 3:12Speaker 5: My kids are starting to like be of age and
- 3:14Speaker 5: they understand that I used to be as someone not
- 3:17Speaker 5: just a media a personality. So and I do have
- 3:20Speaker 5: the Superman logo tattooed on my elbow, so every once
- 3:23Speaker 5: in a while my son will be like, where's where's
- 3:25Speaker 5: the Superman tattoo? Yes?
- 3:26Speaker 4: Right here though, that's cool, that's so cool, that's so cool.
- 3:32Speaker 3: When I when I was playing my kids were young,
- 3:34Speaker 3: I played for the Phillies and somebody, I don't know
- 3:37Speaker 3: if it's called cgi'ed or they made a picture that
- 3:40Speaker 3: made my arm turn into like a like a laser
- 3:45Speaker 3: and so it was me throwing a ball, but it
- 3:47Speaker 3: was my laser arm. And my one son, he was
- 3:51Speaker 3: probably three or four, and he goes just in the
- 3:54Speaker 3: middle of a meal with a bunch of people at
- 3:56Speaker 3: our house.
- 3:56Speaker 4: He walks up to me.
- 3:57Speaker 3: He goes, Dad on the laser arm, and it was
- 4:02Speaker 3: like the cutest thing ever because all he had seen
- 4:04Speaker 3: was the picture and he truly thought I had a
- 4:06Speaker 3: laser arm like a Transformer. Not DC comics, but a superpower.
- 4:10Speaker 3: And that's how your kids see it.
- 4:12Speaker 1: That is cool. You can get away.
- 4:14Speaker 4: You were naming.
- 4:16Speaker 5: You were naming all those superpowers that your guy has.
- 4:19Speaker 5: And before my kids started watching certain TV shows, I
- 4:22Speaker 5: wouldn't have known what some of those are. But those
- 4:24Speaker 5: are the hottest topics in my house every day, and
- 4:27Speaker 5: my kids are like, what superpower would you want? I'm like, well,
- 4:29Speaker 5: I answered that yesterday, the day before, the day before.
- 4:33Speaker 3: That's the best. And nap time, those are the best.
- 4:35Speaker 3: That's where you're at right now, nap time. Now I'm
- 4:39Speaker 3: in screen time land, So I gotta get him out
- 4:40Speaker 3: of screen time lane.
- 4:41Speaker 4: That's not the.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Best, right You're trying to get some time for yourself,
- 4:47Speaker 2: and then eventually you're trying to get time.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Back back with them with them.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Okay, I got it, noted, Let's charge charge about what
- 4:59Speaker 2: happen been here in the Al East, KP. We're gonna
- 5:02Speaker 2: skip your Blue Jays for now since they got swept
- 5:05Speaker 2: over the weekend, but we'll start with the super sweep
- 5:07Speaker 2: four games for the Red Sox over the Yankees, and
- 5:10Speaker 2: the Yankees offense looked like it needed Aaron Judge finally.
- 5:16Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I mean, obviously the big story Sonny
- 5:19Speaker 5: yesterday kind of making his presence known, you know about
- 5:23Speaker 5: his dislike for the Yankees organization, almost throwing a no hitter.
- 5:27Speaker 5: But yeah, I mean baseball. I mean, do you guys
- 5:29Speaker 5: do this every single day? Obviously I cover the Blue
- 5:31Speaker 5: Jays a little bit more I fill in on this show.
- 5:33Speaker 5: But has this not been the strangest baseball season of
- 5:36Speaker 5: all time? Right now? There's legitimately like four or five
- 5:39Speaker 5: really good teams and then everything else is kind of
- 5:41Speaker 5: just mixed up. It makes it almost impossible to lay
- 5:45Speaker 5: out some bets because going into a series like this,
- 5:48Speaker 5: the Yankees obviously one of the best teams in baseball.
- 5:51Speaker 5: The Red Sox have really underperformed this year, and then
- 5:54Speaker 5: you get a four game sweep. So I don't really
- 5:56Speaker 5: even really know what to make of it anymore. It's
- 5:58Speaker 5: just the baseball. Well, you know, the parody in the
- 6:01Speaker 5: game right now is making it for a wild Wild
- 6:05Speaker 5: West right now.
- 6:07Speaker 4: Parody. There's no way, there's no way there's parody. There's
- 6:10Speaker 4: no way.
- 6:10Speaker 3: There's a chance for everybody to win on every night.
- 6:13Speaker 3: But my team will never win a World Series going
- 6:16Speaker 3: to the Red Sox. I think it's like eleven straight
- 6:18Speaker 3: quality starts in a row. This is all without Garrett
- 6:21Speaker 3: Cochet to me that that was the biggest thing, and
- 6:24Speaker 3: I think that's the biggest thing, with or without Aaron Judge.
- 6:26Speaker 3: I think in a team, a team starting pitching can
- 6:30Speaker 3: pitch to the Red Sox lineup. Yes, there's guys with
- 6:34Speaker 3: ridiculous stuff that can also pitch, but you don't need
- 6:36Speaker 3: to have guys that are just pumping ninety nine ninety
- 6:39Speaker 3: nine to be able to beat the Yankees. In my opinion,
- 6:42Speaker 3: you have guys like you had last night with Sonny
- 6:44Speaker 3: Gray and Sonny Gray was he was on one last night.
- 6:46Speaker 3: I mean I think he had like sixteen or twenty
- 6:49Speaker 3: first pitch strikes like it was rediculous. The fact that
- 6:52Speaker 3: he gave up a hit and a walk to I'm
- 6:54Speaker 3: at Rosario, like I'm at Rosario never walks. That was
- 6:58Speaker 3: the anomaly of the game that he actually walked in
- 7:00Speaker 3: that game. But to me, you can pitch to the Yankees,
- 7:03Speaker 3: and if you can pitch those spots, you see what
- 7:05Speaker 3: happens really makes quick work of a team that is
- 7:09Speaker 3: a much better hitting team than what they showed. But
- 7:11Speaker 3: again they were pitched to not thrown two.
- 7:16Speaker 1: All right, what are we working with this week?
- 7:18Speaker 2: Seek giving us some game previews so you can see
- 7:20Speaker 2: where you want to purchase a ticket to watch a
- 7:23Speaker 2: game on the app. Kratz always gives me an indicator here, KP,
- 7:27Speaker 2: Like your indicator is shaking.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Oh really okay? So krats you first and then KP
- 7:34Speaker 1: will follow.
- 7:36Speaker 3: I mean, how can you not go to the poop game,
- 7:38Speaker 3: the Pirates versus the Phillies.
- 7:40Speaker 4: It's the poop game. Anytime you get a team that's trying.
- 7:43Speaker 3: To buy for first place, you know, the three games
- 7:46Speaker 3: back in the Phillies and the Pirates.
- 7:49Speaker 4: They got a nice little arm on the mound too.
- 7:51Speaker 3: Braxton Ashcraft is mister consistency for this team that needs
- 7:56Speaker 3: that second, third, fourth eye in the rotation right now.
- 8:03Speaker 5: You know, I'm a Homer. You know, I love my
- 8:06Speaker 5: Toronto Blue Jays, but I would have loved to be
- 8:08Speaker 5: in the Rogers Center to night for Boba Sheet's return.
- 8:12Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:14Speaker 2: That's a good ticket. That is a really good ticket. Yeah,
- 8:19Speaker 2: I know, you guys just re territory.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Yep, there you go.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Mitch Bannon put out an article that I think we're
- 8:24Speaker 2: going to get into tomorrow that regards return.
- 8:27Speaker 1: Did he mention it at all today? KP.
- 8:30Speaker 5: We didn't talk about it. I mean, he told us
- 8:31Speaker 5: about the article, but he he dropped it after, you know,
- 8:34Speaker 5: our episode. But yeah, it's about guys kind of making
- 8:36Speaker 5: their returns. He went around the game asking guys what
- 8:39Speaker 5: it's like to come back to a place, and we
- 8:41Speaker 5: we did do a Mitch was gone at a wedding
- 8:45Speaker 5: during the Rangers series, so we did kind of preview
- 8:48Speaker 5: Bobashett's return today a couple of days ago, and I said,
- 8:52Speaker 5: I think he gets emotional. I know, Bo's been a
- 8:55Speaker 5: very stoic guy. But I think everything that he's gone
- 8:58Speaker 5: through in his time in New York and then getting
- 9:00Speaker 5: a chance to come back to a place where he's
- 9:02Speaker 5: like really beloved and he's going to see a lot
- 9:04Speaker 5: of his you know, former teammates. He's going to be
- 9:06Speaker 5: on that left side of the diamond towards the Blue
- 9:09Speaker 5: Jay's third base, Dugo. I know it meant a lot
- 9:12Speaker 5: to him playing there. You know, his career, he got drafted, developed,
- 9:15Speaker 5: came up with that, he ultimately made the choice to leave.
- 9:18Speaker 5: He was a much better player than me. But I
- 9:20Speaker 5: remember when I got a chance to come back to Toronto,
- 9:22Speaker 5: just the love that the fans gave me. And it's
- 9:25Speaker 5: going to be sold out tonight and he's going to
- 9:28Speaker 5: get a hell of a video and he meant a
- 9:30Speaker 5: lot to that organization.
- 9:31Speaker 2: Yeah, if you're looking for a quick ticket there, I
- 9:34Speaker 2: mean it's sold out. So sea Geek is the spot
- 9:37Speaker 2: Territory one zero ten percent off MLB tickets on sea
- 9:41Speaker 2: Geek with the promo code territory ten. Make sure you
- 9:44Speaker 2: click the link in the description to download the app
- 9:46Speaker 2: and have the code automatically added to your account so
- 9:49Speaker 2: that you can use it later, and there are other
- 9:51Speaker 2: games to check out too. Maybe you're in Seattle and
- 9:53Speaker 2: you want to watch George Kirby go for a non
- 9:55Speaker 2: piggyback Mariners rotation or selective piggyback rotation. Rodrigaz as a
- 10:00Speaker 2: low two Zra in Arizona. So plenty to choose from Kratz.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Did you hear what Anthony Rizzo said about Jazz Chisholm,
- 10:11Speaker 2: and you know he's on the broadcast on Sunday night.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Rizzo is not too far removed from being a part
- 10:18Speaker 2: of the Yankees. Jazz was booted from the game for
- 10:20Speaker 2: arguing a check swing call.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Was he right? I think so? I mean, I'll let
- 10:23Speaker 1: you guys decide.
- 10:25Speaker 2: But even if you are right, you want to stay
- 10:27Speaker 2: in the game because then you get a cold player
- 10:29Speaker 2: and a player not as good as you that has
- 10:32Speaker 2: to fill in. So Rizzo said, quote it shows a
- 10:36Speaker 2: little bit of immaturity for Jazz to get himself ejected.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Quote the team scuffling, they need him in the lineup,
- 10:41Speaker 2: and now he puts Folpy in a tough position, coming
- 10:44Speaker 2: in completely cold. Chris Kershner, who writes for the Athletics,
- 10:46Speaker 2: said this is why in my opinion, it's not a
- 10:48Speaker 2: good look for Jazz to skip talking to the media.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Rizzo is still tight with many of the current Yankees,
- 10:53Speaker 2: including Judge. Believe it or not, this stuff does matter
- 10:57Speaker 2: behind the scenes. So the other piece of the puzzle
- 10:59Speaker 2: here is Jazz, who always always has fun with the media,
- 11:04Speaker 2: decided to not speak with them afterwards.
- 11:06Speaker 1: What does that mean?
- 11:06Speaker 2: As we always go over in this show, everyone else
- 11:09Speaker 2: has to speak for you and handle that crats your
- 11:12Speaker 2: thoughts on all of this.
- 11:14Speaker 4: That's it.
- 11:14Speaker 3: That's the only distraction that it is. Somebody else has
- 11:17Speaker 3: to do it, whether they want to or not, whether
- 11:20Speaker 3: they give any answers or not. Somebody else has to
- 11:22Speaker 3: be the guy that has to say, yeah, you know,
- 11:27Speaker 3: you know, you'll have to talk to Jazz or you
- 11:29Speaker 3: have to. And you always get those type of answers.
- 11:31Speaker 3: And it's like if he would if he would stand up,
- 11:34Speaker 3: if he would have stand up, stood up and spoken,
- 11:37Speaker 3: he would have got on his side of it.
- 11:39Speaker 4: Bing bang, it's over. It's probably.
- 11:40Speaker 3: But now he's got to come to the ballpark again
- 11:42Speaker 3: the next day and they'll approach it, or they'll approach
- 11:46Speaker 3: other guys, or he has to duck during the forty
- 11:48Speaker 3: five minutes that the media is in the locker room
- 11:51Speaker 3: before the game. Like, it's stuff that can be distracting,
- 11:54Speaker 3: and you have to be an undistracting player or small
- 11:58Speaker 3: distractions player when you're looking to get over one hundred
- 12:01Speaker 3: million dollars in your free agent contract.
- 12:07Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I mean, I think, you know, considering everything
- 12:12Speaker 6: Jazz said going into the season, talking about, you know,
- 12:15Speaker 6: wanting to be a forty to forty guy and holding
- 12:17Speaker 6: himself to this standard, and the best one of the
- 12:19Speaker 6: best players, if not the best player in the world,
- 12:22Speaker 6: is out.
- 12:22Speaker 5: Of this lineup for a significant amount of time. It's
- 12:24Speaker 5: time for him to step up. So for Anthony Rizzo
- 12:27Speaker 5: to come out and call it immaturity, I would agree.
- 12:30Speaker 5: Obviously there's certain things he's done recently on the field
- 12:33Speaker 5: that would suggest some immaturity as well too. But you know,
- 12:37Speaker 5: when you put your team in a situation like that
- 12:40Speaker 5: where you have to bring a guy off the bench
- 12:41Speaker 5: who's probably not the quality of player that you are,
- 12:43Speaker 5: he has to come into the game, Cole, But you're
- 12:45Speaker 5: also talking about a lineup that is struggling without Aaron Judge,
- 12:49Speaker 5: it's your time to kind of put the team on
- 12:52Speaker 5: your back and then you decide after the first inning,
- 12:54Speaker 5: your first at bat, that you no longer want to
- 12:56Speaker 5: be in this game anymore. Just is a level of
- 12:59Speaker 5: uh immature. And these are all the little things. You know,
- 13:02Speaker 5: we talked about Framber and what he did, and obviously
- 13:04Speaker 5: these are kind of different layers to it. But when
- 13:07Speaker 5: you are an impending free agent and you're looking to
- 13:10Speaker 5: you know, secure a huge bag, these are all the
- 13:13Speaker 5: little things that matter to front office. There's no doubt
- 13:16Speaker 5: Jazz Chisholm has this level of talent that you know,
- 13:19Speaker 5: can be unmatched at sometimes the combination of speed and power,
- 13:24Speaker 5: you know, the ability to play a great second base,
- 13:27Speaker 5: some position of versatility. Obviously, the confidence, the belief, the swagger,
- 13:31Speaker 5: these are all pluses. But when you talk about certain
- 13:34Speaker 5: things that he's been doing on the field recently, I
- 13:37Speaker 5: always tell people in this game, whether it's about going
- 13:39Speaker 5: into free agent and trying to make money, we're just
- 13:42Speaker 5: trying to keep your job in the big leagues. Don't
- 13:45Speaker 5: give people a reason to write you off. And right
- 13:47Speaker 5: now he's giving people a reason to write them off.
- 13:50Speaker 4: That's so true.
- 13:51Speaker 3: I mean, I'm at a high school basically showcase tournament,
- 13:55Speaker 3: with scouts galore here. Don't give them a reason. Don't
- 13:58Speaker 3: not run it up to first, don't not run out
- 14:00Speaker 3: to your position, all that stuff that big leaguers should
- 14:03Speaker 3: know and you know, live by a different level. But
- 14:06Speaker 3: to me last night, yes, he was correct. He did
- 14:08Speaker 3: check swing and he should have checked it down to third.
- 14:11Speaker 3: Adam Hamari, the homeplate umpire gave him every chance to
- 14:15Speaker 3: stay in that game, every chance Boone came out got
- 14:18Speaker 3: in the way, and he chose to turn around and
- 14:21Speaker 3: slam his helmet, and it just showed exactly exactly what
- 14:26Speaker 3: Rizzo said, a level of immaturity that teams will question
- 14:31Speaker 3: when they go to free agency.
- 14:34Speaker 2: I have a question for you guys on the position
- 14:35Speaker 2: player sign for Boston. First off, for Boston huge. I mean,
- 14:39Speaker 2: you're seasons on the brink here. Now they're within some
- 14:43Speaker 2: level of striking distance. I still think they're in trouble,
- 14:46Speaker 2: but it at least helps you stay relevant for now
- 14:49Speaker 2: and not think, oh, we're going to sell, you know,
- 14:52Speaker 2: weeks in advance. Right, they're probably one of many teams
- 14:54Speaker 2: that will go right up against the trade deadline. They
- 14:57Speaker 2: did lose Marcelo Meyer to the injury list bone stress
- 15:00Speaker 2: reaction for him that he's been dealing with on and
- 15:03Speaker 2: off for a while. Apparently it's similar to Isaiah Kinner
- 15:06Speaker 2: FILEFA KP. Since you're fresher out of the game and
- 15:09Speaker 2: you probably saw some of this with the bat speed
- 15:11Speaker 2: craze that's going on. I didn't get to read the
- 15:13Speaker 2: article because it popped up for me right before the
- 15:16Speaker 2: show started. But apparently IKF had this, you know, bat
- 15:19Speaker 2: speed increase, and he was focusing on that hardcore and
- 15:22Speaker 2: maybe that led to the injuries. So I'm just trying
- 15:24Speaker 2: to put two and two together. Are there some teams
- 15:26Speaker 2: that might be pushing it a little bit? The Red
- 15:28Speaker 2: Sox are losing a lot of young players too, Meyer,
- 15:31Speaker 2: Roman Anthony has been out most of the year. Do
- 15:33Speaker 2: you think we're going to run into this? I don't
- 15:35Speaker 2: want to say epidemic. We have that with the arms,
- 15:38Speaker 2: but some type of issues here where we're enforcing bat
- 15:40Speaker 2: speed so much with everybody that it's going to lead
- 15:43Speaker 2: to more injuries, especially for the youngsters.
- 15:46Speaker 5: No, I don't think you're off in saying it could
- 15:48Speaker 5: be an epidemic. Obviously, we saw kind of the epidemic
- 15:51Speaker 5: of chasing velocity and what it's done to Pitcher's arms.
- 15:54Speaker 5: How can it be any different when you're chasing bat
- 15:56Speaker 5: speed like the human body, especially your own human body,
- 16:00Speaker 5: but he is probably only supposed to operate at a
- 16:02Speaker 5: certain speed. Yes, you can kind of gain, you know,
- 16:05Speaker 5: marginal increases in certain things. But I feel like you
- 16:09Speaker 5: can't take a guy who's throwing, you know, ninety, and
- 16:12Speaker 5: then get him up to one hundred miles an hour
- 16:14Speaker 5: and not expect there to be extra stress that his
- 16:16Speaker 5: body's really not accustomed to having. I don't think it's
- 16:19Speaker 5: any different when you're talking about guys now chasing bat speed.
- 16:23Speaker 5: I don't fully I understand like the science behind if
- 16:26Speaker 5: you swing harder and you swear it up and the
- 16:29Speaker 5: ball could potentially be hit harder and further and all
- 16:32Speaker 5: that stuff, but I still don't believe that swing speed
- 16:36Speaker 5: is the end all be all, Because I do know this.
- 16:38Speaker 5: I looked it up last year during the postseason. I
- 16:41Speaker 5: was like a guy, I think my average bat speed
- 16:43Speaker 5: was sixty nine miles an hour, and I wanted to
- 16:45Speaker 5: look up really like good hitters that had sixty nine
- 16:48Speaker 5: as their average, and Bobaschet came up, and I think
- 16:51Speaker 5: last year before his injury Bobaschet was one of the
- 16:53Speaker 5: best hitters in the world. What he's really good at
- 16:56Speaker 5: is squaring up the baseball, regardless off his bat speed
- 16:58Speaker 5: sixty nine or eighty nine, Like, he has the ability
- 17:01Speaker 5: to score up the ball. So I think it's not
- 17:04Speaker 5: the end all be all when chasing bat speed. I
- 17:06Speaker 5: think there's still this ability of squaring up the baseball,
- 17:10Speaker 5: hitting it at the right point, creating the right sort
- 17:12Speaker 5: of you know, angle off your bat. But yeah, I
- 17:15Speaker 5: do believe if guys are going to just continue to
- 17:18Speaker 5: just chase bat speed, not understanding these other parts of
- 17:22Speaker 5: hitting first, that there's going to be an epidemic in
- 17:24Speaker 5: this game of guys getting you know, side injuries, oblique injuries,
- 17:27Speaker 5: hand injuries, wrist injuries. And apparently there's this what did
- 17:30Speaker 5: you call the injury a forearm stress reaction.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Yeah, bone stress reaction in the forearm.
- 17:38Speaker 5: We never heard of it.
- 17:40Speaker 3: I saw one guy get it and it wasn't He
- 17:42Speaker 3: wasn't where john Ford Griffin. He was an elite prospect
- 17:46Speaker 3: for a little while out of Florida. But anyway, yeah,
- 17:49Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know if it'll create an epidemic.
- 17:51Speaker 3: But first of all, to what KP said giggoty. Second
- 17:55Speaker 3: of all, anytime you push yourself and you want immediate results,
- 17:59Speaker 3: pitch throwing ninety getting to one hundred, like by the
- 18:04Speaker 3: next offseason, you're like, Okay, what did it take to
- 18:07Speaker 3: get to that point? And did we build enough of
- 18:11Speaker 3: a foundation to withstand that. It's why all the dudes
- 18:15Speaker 3: when I first started playing that were on steroids got
- 18:19Speaker 3: hurt after they got off steroids, because their bodies went
- 18:22Speaker 3: big muscles, running faster, throwing harder, doing everything faster, and
- 18:26Speaker 3: all of a sudden, their bodies like, thank you, we
- 18:29Speaker 3: took it to the limit.
- 18:30Speaker 4: Now we're going to break down.
- 18:31Speaker 3: And that's my fear, and that's why I try to
- 18:33Speaker 3: tell kids and anybody trying to prove it anything, the
- 18:36Speaker 3: daily work is what's going to get you those gains,
- 18:39Speaker 3: not one bang, quick jump.
- 18:42Speaker 2: And just to confirm it was in the Boston Globe,
- 18:44Speaker 2: I believe it was Tim Healy, but I'll double check
- 18:48Speaker 2: who wrote that. But yeah, I'm just getting the AI
- 18:50Speaker 2: summary here. All the aggressive swing increases came with tangible
- 18:55Speaker 2: power upgrades and one of the better stretches of his
- 18:57Speaker 2: career heading into the IL. The extreme workload led to
- 18:59Speaker 2: a robbing arm pain and this strection stress reaction injury.
- 19:03Speaker 1: So he was like, okay, I got it up to
- 19:05Speaker 1: that speed.
- 19:06Speaker 3: The way I read it was just like a bat flexes.
- 19:10Speaker 3: You watch a bat flex, I saw doctor wrote about it.
- 19:13Speaker 3: You're at your bones can actually flex slightly. And if
- 19:17Speaker 3: you're doing that, if he's taken a lot of swings,
- 19:20Speaker 3: if he's doing that at a higher rep speed, all
- 19:23Speaker 3: that stuff, you know, it creates not a fracture, but
- 19:27Speaker 3: I mean not a break, but a fracture where a
- 19:30Speaker 3: stress fracture could turn into a break.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Yep.
- 19:33Speaker 2: I mean we don't like that, but hey, Red Sox
- 19:35Speaker 2: fans should be excited at least from the weekend. The
- 19:37Speaker 2: pitching was money for the team to keep them alive,
- 19:40Speaker 2: and the Rays are in first place right now. In
- 19:42Speaker 2: the al East, people dehydration sucks, quints, electrolyte stick packs
- 19:50Speaker 2: to the rescue.
- 19:52Speaker 1: I order them, I use them all of the time.
- 19:56Speaker 7: Somebody who may or may not have had some adult
- 19:58Speaker 7: beverages in their life. The next day, you know what flavor,
- 20:00Speaker 7: I like watermelon, and I don't like watermelon. I'll go
- 20:03Speaker 7: raspberry and it helps me to get my citrus salt in.
- 20:07Speaker 7: But if I do, it helps me to get back
- 20:09Speaker 7: to normal, feeling good and ready to go the next day.
- 20:12Speaker 2: Yep, tough workout or dry mouth in the morning, whatever
- 20:15Speaker 2: it is, this is going to help you out. Quint

- 20:49Speaker 2: We'll start with Wyatt Langford injured list left hamstring strain.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Evan carter back for a Rangers team that cannot afford
- 20:56Speaker 2: to lose dudes.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Although, hey, aren't they in first place right now?
- 20:59Speaker 2: I didn't even five hundred after the weekend of the
- 21:02Speaker 2: sweep and the Mariners.
- 21:03Speaker 4: All gotta get ready.
- 21:06Speaker 5: They're in first place. They're in first place.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Unreal, unreal.
- 21:11Speaker 5: Hey, Kratzy, have you ever played with a guy, because
- 21:13Speaker 5: you know why, at Langford man like I was around him.
- 21:15Speaker 5: He was twenty three years old, fresh out of college,
- 21:18Speaker 5: and he missed him time when I was there. But
- 21:20Speaker 5: he just possesses all the tools to be an absolute
- 21:23Speaker 5: superstar in this game. But he has one of those
- 21:25Speaker 5: body types that's like there's just muscles on muscles on muscles,
- 21:29Speaker 5: and you just worry he's just never gonna be able
- 21:31Speaker 5: to stay healthy.
- 21:32Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, I've never seen somebody that is super jacked,
- 21:38Speaker 3: like you said, muscles on muscles that stays healthy for
- 21:41Speaker 3: one hundred and sixty two games. It's it's a skill
- 21:43Speaker 3: to stay healthy. You need a little bit of fat,
- 21:46Speaker 3: you need your you need your body to like move
- 21:49Speaker 3: around a little bit. You can you can't hold fat.
- 21:52Speaker 3: So no, I've never seen it. I can't think of
- 21:55Speaker 3: anybody that's jacked.
- 21:57Speaker 5: And he's just so explosive like he he he rotates fast,
- 22:01Speaker 5: he can jump high, you know. Yeah, it's just like
- 22:03Speaker 5: it's just he's just wound so tight that he's like
- 22:06Speaker 5: this freak athlete. But with that comes you know, the
- 22:09Speaker 5: risk of you know, hamstring injuries, soft tissue things. It's
- 22:13Speaker 5: just it's a shame because he possesses all the tools
- 22:15Speaker 5: of being one of the best players in the game.
- 22:17Speaker 5: I've seen it, I've been around him. His work ethic
- 22:20Speaker 5: is incredible. It's just sometimes you have one of those
- 22:22Speaker 5: body types.
- 22:24Speaker 4: And he's having a Gamsberger Dan jams Berger.
- 22:28Speaker 1: When he's on the field, he is hit.
- 22:40Speaker 2: We switched miss Fridays to ms Mondays so that we
- 22:43Speaker 2: can break it down the next morning or afternoon on
- 22:46Speaker 2: FT plus. You know the MM thing going on. Wow,
- 22:51Speaker 2: Fridays have been electric. Mis went one oh five point
- 22:55Speaker 2: five and didn't feel like he got it all, which
- 22:58Speaker 2: is insane. So we can play the sound first and
- 23:01Speaker 2: then I'll get you guys to react to the fact
- 23:02Speaker 2: that we might have a picture in miss Hit one
- 23:06Speaker 2: O seven at some point in the.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Next year or two, I don't know.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Let's just hear what he has to say first and
- 23:11Speaker 2: then we'll get your thoughts.
- 23:14Speaker 7: I actually I heard it from Sprouder after I was done,
- 23:17Speaker 7: so it was it's cool.
- 23:19Speaker 4: I know, I think I slipped a little bit on
- 23:21Speaker 4: that pitch.
- 23:22Speaker 7: I think that was the one I.
- 23:23Speaker 4: Saw on the board, said.
- 23:24Speaker 1: One of five.
- 23:25Speaker 4: Uh No, I think I got a little bit more.
- 23:27Speaker 4: So can you slip?
- 23:30Speaker 7: Yeah, if you watch the video, my front foot like
- 23:33Speaker 7: kind of slides out from under me.
- 23:34Speaker 5: So I think I got a little bit more.
- 23:39Speaker 1: More than one oh five point five. Guys, why is
- 23:42Speaker 1: one o seven crazy? Crats? He's already at one oh
- 23:44Speaker 1: five point five and he slipped, and he's young.
- 23:46Speaker 3: This is this is just the same argument when somebody
- 23:48Speaker 3: hits hits twenty five homers and they're like, he's got
- 23:52Speaker 3: forty forty home run potential, Like that's a lot more.
- 23:56Speaker 3: Let's let him hit one oh six first, and then
- 23:58Speaker 3: we'll talk about one o seven. All right, let's just
- 24:01Speaker 3: one mile per hour out of time. Let's let's just
- 24:04Speaker 3: go with like point miles per hour, Like we haven't
- 24:07Speaker 3: seen him over one hundred and five yet he slipped.
- 24:09Speaker 3: I get it, it's in there. Let's just pump the brakes.
- 24:12Speaker 3: Let's get to one oh six before we get to
- 24:15Speaker 3: before we get to one oh seven.
- 24:18Speaker 5: You know, you were talking about the the stress of
- 24:21Speaker 5: the game and what it did to Perrymanazzy and you
- 24:23Speaker 5: see these like wrinkles on the side. That's from, you know,
- 24:26Speaker 5: having to think about facing guys that could potentially hit
- 24:29Speaker 5: one oh five. I'm starting to like they're starting to
- 24:31Speaker 5: go away a little bit because I don't have to
- 24:33Speaker 5: worry about hitting those guys anymore. I just get to
- 24:35Speaker 5: sit here and talk about them.
- 24:37Speaker 3: Yeah, you need a more skin skin care routine for that, KP.
- 24:41Speaker 3: But also like, oh, I just I.
- 24:43Speaker 4: Need to just get out of the game.
- 24:44Speaker 5: I just need to get out of it because it
- 24:46Speaker 5: was aging me at a rapid pay sticking. The fact
- 24:49Speaker 5: that he even thinks that it's a possibility that there's
- 24:52Speaker 5: more in the tank is the thing that would keep
- 24:54Speaker 5: me up at night. Now I don't even have to
- 24:55Speaker 5: worry about it. I just get to talk about it.
- 24:58Speaker 3: Yeah, but you can't even conceptualize, Like for me, I
- 25:00Speaker 3: would do it in chunks. Somebody throwing ninety to ninety five. Wow,
- 25:05Speaker 3: big difference ninety to ninety or ninety ninety three. Like
- 25:09Speaker 3: looking from the side, I'd be like, Eh, it's fine,
- 25:12Speaker 3: I can react differently. It's you know, what kind of
- 25:14Speaker 3: life does it have? Sync all that stuff. When you
- 25:16Speaker 3: talk about somebody that consistently sits ninety five, and then
- 25:20Speaker 3: you say, somebody that can go up and touch one
- 25:22Speaker 3: oh five ten miles an hour difference ninety five to
- 25:26Speaker 3: one hundreds big one hundred to one hundred and five.
- 25:29Speaker 1: Is crazy, and he knows where it's going.
- 25:35Speaker 3: And I love the heater. I love the heater, but
- 25:37Speaker 3: this is my biggest thing. He releases it closer to
- 25:40Speaker 3: you KP. The best extension in the game was seven
- 25:44Speaker 3: point three, and I think it was either Chapman or.
- 25:49Speaker 4: Hater.
- 25:51Speaker 3: He is at seven point six. He is that much farther,
- 25:55Speaker 3: He's that much closer to home plate. When he releases
- 25:58Speaker 3: the baseball and he's thrown it one hundred and five, it's.
- 26:03Speaker 5: Hard to imagine. I'm thankful and I was like you Cratzy,
- 26:06Speaker 5: I love the heater, but there's levels to heaters. Like
- 26:09Speaker 5: you said, you know, you could kind of group those
- 26:11Speaker 5: guys the ninety to ninety five you kind of know,
- 26:14Speaker 5: like you know, when you need to get started ninety
- 26:17Speaker 5: five to one hundred, you're like, okay, man, this is
- 26:18Speaker 5: gonna be really tough. Like one hundred plus you're really
- 26:21Speaker 5: not even seeing it. You're you're you're kind of getting
- 26:23Speaker 5: lucky if you hit it at that point.
- 26:27Speaker 2: There's a metric for this, two guys, It's called perceived velocity.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Do you know what his perceived velocity was on the
- 26:34Speaker 2: one oh five point five because that also hit a
- 26:37Speaker 2: perceived velocity record for him and probably the person record.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Seven point eight. That's what it looks like to you, guys.
- 26:49Speaker 3: That's but no, you don't see. But you can't even
- 26:53Speaker 3: I don't even know if conceptualize is the word. But
- 26:55Speaker 3: you can't conceptualize. You can't your brain can't figure out
- 26:59Speaker 3: what that looks like because you're like, oh, I remember
- 27:01Speaker 3: what one hundred and one looks like. I remember turning
- 27:04Speaker 3: around one oh one two different times hitting it into
- 27:08Speaker 3: the seats one oh seven, Like, yes, that's a perceived velocity.
- 27:13Speaker 4: What does that mean? That means that John's getting on
- 27:16Speaker 4: you quick?
- 27:18Speaker 2: Mm hmm. Hey, say Suzuki had a home or off
- 27:20Speaker 2: them though that was the first homer up in like
- 27:22Speaker 2: two months.
- 27:24Speaker 3: His second homer against him. There are guys that see
- 27:27Speaker 3: certain guys really well. Josh Hater Jose Martinez. Do you
- 27:31Speaker 3: guys remember Jose Martinez had like a quick minute right
- 27:35Speaker 3: handed hitter with the Cardinals he crushed Josh Hater crushed him.
- 27:40Speaker 3: Everybody else one dude, free strikes, you're out, and he
- 27:43Speaker 3: would just crush him. Certain guys can see certain pitches
- 27:47Speaker 3: and swing at the right spot to be able to
- 27:50Speaker 3: connect with them.
- 27:53Speaker 2: Yeah, and actually we have Jose Martinez on Cardinal Territory
- 27:57Speaker 2: maybe a month and a half ago, if you.
- 27:59Speaker 1: Want to listen him.
- 28:00Speaker 4: Yeah, what a great man.
- 28:03Speaker 2: Super nice, big, big giant, big gentle giant. But yeah,
- 28:07Speaker 2: the Brewers are, you know, still humming along, feeling really good.
- 28:09Speaker 2: Just hoping that MS stays healthy since he's doing things
- 28:13Speaker 2: that nobody else can do. The Pirates have dropped now
- 28:16Speaker 2: the last eight starts by Paul Skeans, yet they're still
- 28:19Speaker 2: hanging around. That's crazy. I did not expect that to happen,
- 28:22Speaker 2: for him to have a rut like that in the
- 28:24Speaker 2: four and a half era range, which isn't crazy. It's
- 28:27Speaker 2: also I mean there's some run support in some of
- 28:28Speaker 2: those starts, but he's definitely not looking himself. And then
- 28:31Speaker 2: the Cubs are on another run. So the Cubs, I mean,
- 28:33Speaker 2: I'm wear in my North Side Territory shirt today. So
- 28:35Speaker 2: if you want to listen to Patrick Mooney and sah
- 28:37Speaker 2: Dave Sharma break down the team and potentially have a
- 28:40Speaker 2: huge new addition to their show coming soon.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Are they the ultimate seesaw team this year? They have
- 28:47Speaker 1: to be, right?
- 28:48Speaker 5: Yeah, maybe, I mean, you win ten, you loose tand
- 28:51Speaker 5: I mean I don't think he gets much bigger than that. Obviously,
- 28:53Speaker 5: I'm a Toronto guy. I've been watching him this year.
- 28:57Speaker 5: It's a little bit We've been referred to it more
- 28:59Speaker 5: of a roller coaster, but it seems lately we're on
- 29:02Speaker 5: that kind of downtick a little bit more. But early
- 29:05Speaker 5: on it was just like they had the ability to win,
- 29:08Speaker 5: to lose one, you know, lose to lose win one,
- 29:11Speaker 5: and then you know they finally, you know, before this
- 29:14Speaker 5: six game louse streak, they finally grinded back and they
- 29:18Speaker 5: got to five hundred, and they had an opportunity to
- 29:20Speaker 5: win that game, they let it slip and then it's
- 29:22Speaker 5: led to six in a row. So, in my opinion,
- 29:25Speaker 5: they've been a huge kind of seesaw Obviously, like you mentioned,
- 29:28Speaker 5: with the Cubs winning ten losing ten, it doesn't get
- 29:31Speaker 5: any bigger extremes than that.
- 29:33Speaker 2: Ye story will run the Cubs right now again. Now
- 29:36Speaker 2: they're playing ball again, Kratz.
- 29:39Speaker 3: It's historic. I forget who wrote the article, but there
- 29:42Speaker 3: have been no teams in the history of baseball since
- 29:45Speaker 3: they've been tracking records, which I'm pretty sure they know
- 29:47Speaker 3: who won the first game, so they were tracking records
- 29:49Speaker 3: right out the gate that no team has had that
- 29:54Speaker 3: this many winning streaks and also like fifteen game stretches
- 30:01Speaker 3: of the least amount of wins and the most amount
- 30:04Speaker 3: of wins.
- 30:04Speaker 2: All right, let's flip it to Al East for a moment.
- 30:07Speaker 2: Will highlight and better than box scores, Junior camon Naro
- 30:10Speaker 2: on an absolute tear. He's had a homer in four
- 30:13Speaker 2: straight and I think a homer in six out of
- 30:14Speaker 2: his last seven games.
- 30:16Speaker 1: I mean, he had a year last year.
- 30:17Speaker 2: He's so young, to what he's doing in terms of
- 30:20Speaker 2: damage at the plate is really incredible and a big
- 30:24Speaker 2: part of why the Rays are where they are right now,
- 30:26Speaker 2: back in first place.
- 30:27Speaker 1: So they've won five in a row and.
- 30:28Speaker 2: They had a long skid for a month. What they
- 30:33Speaker 2: lost eighteen of twenty seven leading up to this five
- 30:36Speaker 2: games in a row. Now that they've won and the
- 30:38Speaker 2: race swept the Diamondbacks over the weekend. But Crats, I
- 30:42Speaker 2: mean we've had him on the show, We've talked about
- 30:43Speaker 2: him to the highest degree.
- 30:45Speaker 1: He's twenty two years old.
- 30:46Speaker 2: Like one of the shots this weekend, the one off
- 30:48Speaker 2: Merril Kelly, Did you see that one?
- 30:49Speaker 1: Four hundred sixty three feet?
- 30:51Speaker 2: I mean, okay, well then KP saw it because he
- 30:55Speaker 2: nodded his head saw it.
- 30:56Speaker 4: I saw it.
- 30:57Speaker 5: You know. Obviously, the Trump is a place I played
- 31:00Speaker 5: a ton of my career. Obviously, me and Kratsey have
- 31:02Speaker 5: been everywhere, but certain stadiums you know really well, especially
- 31:06Speaker 5: being an outfielder, and I know where that is. You know,
- 31:09Speaker 5: I've I've ran out to my position and I've looked
- 31:11Speaker 5: there before and I'm like, man, that's so far. And
- 31:13Speaker 5: then when you see a guy hit a ball there,
- 31:15Speaker 5: it's really impressive, and you know he's he In my opinion,
- 31:19Speaker 5: he's a top ten player in this game. I think
- 31:22Speaker 5: he just doesn't get enough respect because it's kind of
- 31:25Speaker 5: the knock on Tampa. You know, they don't draw well.
- 31:28Speaker 5: You know, they're not a big market. They're a team
- 31:29Speaker 5: that just always is in it. You know, they're a
- 31:32Speaker 5: team at the beginning of the year. The projections don't
- 31:35Speaker 5: necessarily always love them, but you just know Tampa is
- 31:38Speaker 5: going to figure out a way to be you know,
- 31:41Speaker 5: right in it to the very end. And I just
- 31:42Speaker 5: I mean, look at those numbers. I mean, every team
- 31:45Speaker 5: in baseball would love to have this guy, especially the
- 31:47Speaker 5: fact that he's twenty two years old. It's just really impressive.
- 31:51Speaker 5: Like he's just a really polished hitter who has a
- 31:55Speaker 5: ton of power.
- 31:57Speaker 4: Where did he hit it to KP because I missed it?
- 32:00Speaker 4: Where did it go?
- 32:01Speaker 5: Was? It was left center field and there's like the
- 32:03Speaker 5: like the seats and then there's that kind of like
- 32:05Speaker 5: thing above the seats. You know you've seen guys more
- 32:08Speaker 5: to left field that has like that raise like banner
- 32:12Speaker 5: up there. He hit it almost to like it was
- 32:14Speaker 5: like left of the Uh it would kind of be
- 32:16Speaker 5: equivalent to where the race the stingrays are, but on
- 32:19Speaker 5: the left side.
- 32:21Speaker 3: Okay, so like deep left center because I saw Hunter
- 32:24Speaker 3: Pence hit the banners that they hang in left field
- 32:30Speaker 3: in BP, So I just wanted to know how far
- 32:32Speaker 3: we're talking like big, big distance.
- 32:36Speaker 4: Yeah it was big.
- 32:36Speaker 5: It was big, but not banner big but big.
- 32:39Speaker 4: Yeah, but that was big p too. So let's let's
- 32:41Speaker 4: pump the brakes.
- 32:42Speaker 2: Yeah, this is real games, and it's seven homers in
- 32:44Speaker 2: this last six games, and it's twenty two on the season.
- 32:48Speaker 1: He had forty five last year.
- 32:50Speaker 2: So he's on pace for almost the exact amount as
- 32:52Speaker 2: we're just about at the halfway mark that I was
- 32:54Speaker 2: trying to do the math on Schober the other day,
- 32:56Speaker 2: who we'll talk about later, but you can just about
- 32:58Speaker 2: double the numbers right now if you're looking at pace
- 33:01Speaker 2: on pace for almost the exact same amount. So Ray's
- 33:03Speaker 2: still playing some good ball. Hey, some transaction news over
- 33:08Speaker 2: the weekend. There were some ads, there's some subtraction. Here's
- 33:11Speaker 2: a subtraction. Christopher Morrell, who the Marlins took a shot at.
- 33:15Speaker 2: He gets cut man. He was toolsy guys, But you
- 33:18Speaker 2: got to be able to get on base. You gotta
- 33:20Speaker 2: I mean, you gotta field your position. There were kp
- 33:23Speaker 2: a lot of things to like and a lot of
- 33:24Speaker 2: things to not like about his game.
- 33:26Speaker 1: And the Rays tried it out too.
- 33:27Speaker 2: There were teams that are pretty analytic focused that tried
- 33:30Speaker 2: to grab that and see if they could make them
- 33:32Speaker 2: a complete player, and it hasn't worked.
- 33:35Speaker 5: I think it just speaks to the difficulty it is
- 33:37Speaker 5: to stay in this game and perform at a high
- 33:39Speaker 5: level for a long time. We take for granted that
- 33:41Speaker 5: there's these guys that are successful for a long period
- 33:44Speaker 5: of time, and then there's other guys like me and
- 33:46Speaker 5: Krats who just kind of figure out how to stay
- 33:48Speaker 5: in the game for a long time. It's it's very
- 33:50Speaker 5: difficult because you know, you think about his little run
- 33:53Speaker 5: he had in Chicago and the tools he possesses, you know,
- 33:56Speaker 5: the how far he can hit the ball, how hard
- 33:58Speaker 5: he can.
- 33:58Speaker 4: Hit the ball.
- 33:59Speaker 5: Like, this game is so much more about the tools
- 34:02Speaker 5: than that you possess. It's about constantly making adjustments and
- 34:06Speaker 5: learning and adapting, and you know, when the bat's not there,
- 34:09Speaker 5: you have to be really elite with your glove in
- 34:11Speaker 5: order to survive this game.
- 34:14Speaker 3: It is crazy to think about the guy that has
- 34:16Speaker 3: that kind of power, that kind of bat speed currently
- 34:19Speaker 3: has less service time in the big leagues than you
- 34:22Speaker 3: do than I do. Like it's that's what's crazy about
- 34:26Speaker 3: the game. But it's also hard to go from a
- 34:28Speaker 3: guy who has been elite his whole time to like
- 34:31Speaker 3: a journeyman and like figuring out how to be on
- 34:35Speaker 3: the bench get two hundred at bats instead of six hundred,
- 34:38Speaker 3: Like it's crazy it's a crazy game.
- 34:43Speaker 1: Health too, you know, he's went through issues too.
- 34:48Speaker 5: Yeah, and that's that's part of that's also part of
- 34:51Speaker 5: the you know, living and learning and adapting at this game.
- 34:55Speaker 5: It's so much about constantly kind of changing your diet
- 34:59Speaker 5: or your workout program and or you know, how your
- 35:01Speaker 5: off seasons go, how your training end season goes, in
- 35:04Speaker 5: order to unless you're just you know, a superstar who's
- 35:07Speaker 5: just gonna, you know, play at peak performance till as
- 35:10Speaker 5: long as he wants to play. When you're kind of
- 35:12Speaker 5: that guy who has his ups and downs in his career,
- 35:15Speaker 5: you constantly have to evolve in this game. And if
- 35:17Speaker 5: you're not willing to evolve in this game, you're going
- 35:19Speaker 5: to find yourself getting released and kind of bouncing around,
- 35:22Speaker 5: and eventually you're going to be out of the game.
- 35:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:27Speaker 2: The only success he really had was right at the
- 35:29Speaker 2: top of his career talking about morel you know, twenty
- 35:32Speaker 2: twenty two and twenty twenty three with the Cubs.
- 35:34Speaker 1: He did some good things and he put up some homers.
- 35:37Speaker 2: I mean in those two seasons combined, let's see sixteen
- 35:40Speaker 2: homers year one, twenty six year two, but dropped off
- 35:43Speaker 2: after that.
- 35:45Speaker 4: A lot of bunch outs.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Oh yeah, bad D two. Hey we're back. Tommy fam signed.
- 35:54Speaker 2: He was on with us about a week and a
- 35:55Speaker 2: half ago, and then he signed a minor league contract
- 35:58Speaker 2: with the Phillies so he could find his way up with.
- 36:00Speaker 1: The big league club.
- 36:02Speaker 2: Hey Kratz, you've seen Derek Hill stand out with the
- 36:04Speaker 2: Phillies and he's bounced around the league a little bit.
- 36:06Speaker 2: Always a super athlete, incredible defender. He's shown up a
- 36:09Speaker 2: little bit more with the bat right now. But maybe
- 36:12Speaker 2: Tommy will join him at some point.
- 36:15Speaker 3: I mean, hopefully the guys can figure out how you know,
- 36:18Speaker 3: the staff with the Phillies can figure out how to
- 36:21Speaker 3: get the most value out of both those guys. Obviously,
- 36:24Speaker 3: Tommy brings that veteran leadership, you know, grind it mentality.
- 36:29Speaker 3: Derek Hill's playing right now like if a superstar player
- 36:33Speaker 3: makes the cash that he made, I think it gets
- 36:35Speaker 3: more notoriety. That was a ridiculous catch and offensively he's
- 36:41Speaker 3: kicking it right now for a team who needs some offense.
- 36:46Speaker 5: Yeah, and I think it's a nice, nice insurance policy.
- 36:49Speaker 5: Nice Derek Hills. Or he's possessed all the tools that
- 36:54Speaker 5: you would want out of a center fielder, like he
- 36:56Speaker 5: can really go play defense. He's super athletic. He's swinging
- 36:59Speaker 5: the back right now, Like to me, you just got
- 37:01Speaker 5: to let it run, you know. Obviously his track record
- 37:04Speaker 5: has shown that he hasn't been able to do it
- 37:05Speaker 5: for a long period of time. Going out and getting
- 37:08Speaker 5: a guy like Tommy Fam and I did listen to
- 37:09Speaker 5: him on your show, keep him in the minor leagues
- 37:12Speaker 5: long enough where he feels like he's ready to go, Like,
- 37:15Speaker 5: don't rush him up to the big leaves, because that's
- 37:17Speaker 5: what he kind of said. His kind of downfall was
- 37:20Speaker 5: the combination of that and then not getting consistent run
- 37:23Speaker 5: didn't allow him to do what Tommy Fam does best,
- 37:26Speaker 5: and it's really grind out at bats and fine way
- 37:28Speaker 5: on base and then you know, steal some bases when
- 37:31Speaker 5: you need it.
- 37:32Speaker 4: The vision got seat the ball.
- 37:34Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, no doubt, and then at least is going
- 37:37Speaker 2: to get interesting. The Marlins are eighteen and six in June.
- 37:39Speaker 2: The Braves are in a four and twelve slump, and
- 37:41Speaker 2: they're starting pitching as a problem, which is what people
- 37:43Speaker 2: thought was going to be the problem heading into the season.
- 37:45Speaker 2: Remember we talked about this with the Mets last year.
- 37:47Speaker 2: They're twenty ninth in starting pitching the ra in those
- 37:50Speaker 2: sixteen games, and they're definitely going to need some reinforcements.
- 37:53Speaker 2: While the Phillies are just roaring right now, they're thirty
- 37:55Speaker 2: eight and eighteen. I looked at their schedule for the
- 37:57Speaker 2: next couple of weeks. It still looks kind of soft
- 37:59Speaker 2: in terms of a pone. And so things are happening.
- 38:02Speaker 2: They're three games back. Schwerber with his what was that
- 38:05Speaker 2: his thirtieth already to run shot off Sanga yesterday to
- 38:08Speaker 2: win the series. Steam's clicking. We're gonna do an unusual slapans.
- 38:12Speaker 2: I'm gonna bring the slappans topic to this particular segment.
- 38:16Speaker 2: Cooper Ingle was scrolling through social media in his hotel
- 38:19Speaker 2: room in Omaha when there was a knock at the door.
- 38:20Speaker 2: I figured it was housekeeping, plately declined, another knock, another decline,
- 38:24Speaker 2: another knock. Engles teammate answered it was their manager. Hey,
- 38:27Speaker 2: you're going to the Bigs, kid, you want to be
- 38:29Speaker 2: on the Guardians or you want to stay in Omaha.
- 38:31Speaker 1: That's good stuff.
- 38:35Speaker 4: I mean, call me. Why don't you gonna knock on
- 38:37Speaker 4: my door? I'm not what if I'm naked. My guy
- 38:40Speaker 4: is doom scrolling call me?
- 38:44Speaker 5: I mean also also, I mean if I'm in my
- 38:47Speaker 5: bed in a hotel room and I hear it knock,
- 38:50Speaker 5: I'm gonna say who is it? And if it's like
- 38:53Speaker 5: house keeping and I say no, thank you. But was
- 38:55Speaker 5: there no like voice? Did he like say hey, wh
- 38:58Speaker 5: where was he just saying no?
- 38:59Speaker 2: Thank you?
- 38:59Speaker 5: Know that thank you?
- 39:03Speaker 1: Just say hey, it's the manager. Can I talk to you?
- 39:06Speaker 2: You're going to open the door right away and he's
- 39:08Speaker 2: going to be like, congratulations, kiddo, you're going to the
- 39:10Speaker 2: big leagues.
- 39:12Speaker 5: Maybe you didn't want to ruin the surprise.
- 39:14Speaker 1: I guess not. KP. Good stuff, man, enjoy the the
- 39:17Speaker 1: rest of Mexico.
- 39:18Speaker 4: Krats.
- 39:19Speaker 2: Don't let anyone quit early, or you know, sound the
- 39:21Speaker 2: alarm and say hey, come back to baseball.
- 39:24Speaker 4: No, they're out. KP two pinlas poppy. That's what you need.
- 39:31Speaker 2: I'm on my way, go get it. Bye, everybody, justin
