- 0:08SPEAKER_00: understanding,
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: and enjoying ourselves,
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: I hopefully inspire you to critically think,
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: creatively think,
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: and optimistically approach life.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: Imagine this, you hopped on the band rocket, and now...
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: You're on Planet Butter.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: A world made of delicious,
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: sparkly peanut butter and an adorable disco ball of self-reflection is whirling
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: around in her transforming convertible.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: Thanks for joining me in my 44th episode.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: Some of what I'll be sharing includes my answer to last week's question,
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: a perspective dance with Let Go,
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: a party of one,
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: creativity philosophers,
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: a perspective dance with breakups,
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: a note on rarity,
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: and as always,
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: a brand new question for all of us to self-reflect and self-connect.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: And email me if you desire, selffriendshippodcast at gmail.com.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: My answer to last week's question of the week,
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: which was,
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: what's something you're knowledgeable about that's not perceivably common knowledge?
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: The only answer I could possibly say in this context is,
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: Self-friendship.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: Comically,
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: to me,
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: when I bop around sharing the phrase,
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: it actually is more often than not perceived as common knowledge.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: Until you visit Planet Butter or listen to this lovely little podcast.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: That's when the people start to realize it's not so common knowledge after all.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: That is the Planet Butter experience.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: Now, a perspective dance with circles.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: We say circle back as in let's circle back to that.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: I offer that we say circle forward because we're moving forward.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: If we circle back to something,
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: it means the thing,
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: the conversation we have evolved,
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: which is to move forward,
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: not backwards.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: It's nuanced, I know.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: That's the fun.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: It's also where the changes happen on our deeply subconscious little level of our oh-so-delicate brains.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: Now, a word replacement.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: Instead of I know, we can say affirmed.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: Like, imagine if people with walkie-talkies said, we moved in on the enemy.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: And someone said, I know.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: They say affirmative.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: They don't do that.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: They don't say, I know.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: So we can be silly and say affirmative, or we can be a little more chill and say affirmed.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: Now a perspective dance with let go.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: Maybe we don't need to let go.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: We need to pass the baton.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: When we pass the baton,
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: we're saying I did everything in my power and took full responsibility for myself
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: in relation to whatever the situation may be.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: And now we're
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: Universe, let's see what you got.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: When we do that, we can chill out.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: We know the thing still exists.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: We're not letting go in the sense of like, it disappears.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: It doesn't disappear.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: It exists.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: You did something.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: Now the universe is going to come in and be like, oh, thanks for doing your part.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: Now I'm able to do all this cool magic.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: You see, that's how the universe works.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: Now a party of one.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: My friend Taylor Robbins,
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: an awesome photographer,
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: produced an event at free service in LA called Night School with Larry Chen,
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: another incredible car culture photographer.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: During the intermission, I asked Taylor to remind me what the second portion of the discussion would be.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: He said,
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: Larry is going to share his philosophy of bringing creativity out from within
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: ourselves rather than learning how to be creative.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: And then Taylor said, that's actually why I invited you.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: And I said, that's so cool.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: And he says, well, nobody talks about that more than you.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: And I was like, oh, yeah.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: But do you know how fucking cool that is to hear?
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: This brings me to one of my latest concepts.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: Creativity philosophers.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: This is a new breed of philosophers I've identified.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: Those who deeply reflect on the capacity of human consciousness in relation to the
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: expression of creativity.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: Sit with it.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: Let me know what you think about it.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: Are you a creativity philosopher?
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: Do you want to be?
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: Now, the work.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: From now on, when you hear or read or see someone say,
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: the work, I hope you'll choose to think of self-friendship.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: Self-friendship is the work.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: It's the solo work we do, self-reflecting and self-connecting like Blissy.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: And it's the integration of all that we choose to embody in our daily lives.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: This is also where party of one comes in.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: Having fun with ourselves, for ourselves, as ourselves is the peak embodiment of
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: the integration of our inner work of self-friendship.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: Let me know if you have any questions.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: Now, good and tricky.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: We can shift our perspective by thinking of situations as good and tricky rather than good and bad.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: Tricky suggests challenges or inconveniences that can be worked through,
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: presenting an opportunity for growth.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: In contrast, labeling something as bad and
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: often generates negative energy, which can more likely lead to limitations and blockages.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: So good and tricky.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: Next up is energetically speaking.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: I noticed I use this phrase a lot because it's really the only truth.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: Everything else in existence requires perception.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: Though the perception of energy can vary, the truth of energy itself is truth.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: Whereas the perception of all else is only truth in our subjective experiences.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: That's complicated.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: Again, sit with it.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: Let me know if you have any questions.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: I'm happy to change my mind.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: Understanding that.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: A note on dishes in the sink.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: Don't leave dishes in the sink, guys.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: It's an extension of your energy.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: And if your energy is scattered with dishes,
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: it's probably scattered in other much more important areas of your life too.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: That dish, that cup, it's taking up space.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: The point is we don't always know where we're blocking ourselves.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: The dish in your sink and the garbage in your car.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, clean that up.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: Make room for something cooler.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: Now a note on dating.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: One simple guideline for whoever we meet.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: Match me and upgrade me.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: As in, be my equal and challenge me to become more.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: Match me and upgrade me.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: Now a perspective dance with breakups.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: I've heard and seen a lot of people talk about mourning their relationships post-breakup.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: through the lens of self-friendship, let's consider that we're unwinding from a dynamic.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: We're ideally self-reflecting and self-connecting.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: Which parts of ourselves that were present in the relationship do we want to keep
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: versus which parts of ourselves that were present in the relationship we want to
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: leave with that dynamic?
- 8:07SPEAKER_00: Then you can more effectively move forward as this new mature version of your
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: single self.
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: Technically, we're always single in my eyes in the sense of you're always with yourself, right?
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: Okay, another conversation.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: Now, the planet butter jet ring of consciousness in action.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: Planet butter jet ring of consciousness is the cycle of prioritizing our intuition
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: and operating in our best interest.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: So friendship, intuition, sensations, action,
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: Sensations again, circle forward to intuition.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: So I was on my way to yoga when my intuition was nagging me, sunset, sunset, sunset, as it does.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: And I reached a light where the left turn was PCH.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: If you don't know, Los Angeles, California, Pacific Coast Highway, my favorite road.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: And my right turn was one block to my yoga class.
- 9:11SPEAKER_00: Intuition leads.
- 9:13SPEAKER_00: So sunset yelled at me.
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: Then I checked my sensations and I felt excited by the thought of going on PCH and
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: uneasy in picturing the yoga class.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: The action was turn on to PC eight, check my sensations again, felt amazing alignment.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: And again, a reminder alignment as I define it is embodying our role in the ever expansive universe.
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: Now, a phrase replacement.
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: The phrase is light pollution.
- 9:49SPEAKER_00: My thing is that stars are lights too.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: And I feel like I only hear the phrase light pollution when we're talking about looking up at the stars.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: So I offer artificial lights.
- 10:01SPEAKER_00: AL.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: AL pollution.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: Now, a note on be careful what you wish for.
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, true.
- 10:11SPEAKER_00: Because it will come true.
- 10:14SPEAKER_00: My issue is that it's subliminally instilling fear.
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: Be careful.
- 10:19SPEAKER_00: Take precaution.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: Again, true, but that's not super inspiring nor empowering.
- 10:27SPEAKER_00: Maybe be thrilled with what you wish for.
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: Let me know what you think about that.
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: Be thrilled with what you wish for.
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: I wish for my Planet Butter jet.
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: Custom made.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: I have a whole list of designs I won't spill to you right now.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: Customize and I want to fly it and I want to work from it and I want to go do fun
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: things with it and deliver pizza to people all over the world and plant butter,
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: sparkly plant butter.
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: Now a note on rarity.
- 11:01SPEAKER_00: When people respond to your magical dreams and ideas that it's rare that whatever
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: it is happens to a person,
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: It might be true, but are you going to be rare or are you going to listen?
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: Now, self-friendship article snippet.
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: How dare you be independent?
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: The willingness to do,
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: to be,
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: is a guiding tool leveraged to demonstrate to the universe the ownership of our
- 11:31SPEAKER_00: infinite expansiveness.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: As we continue to embrace,
- 11:36SPEAKER_00: understand,
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: and enjoy ourselves,
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: the willingness to do what is in our best interest and be this expansive version of
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: ourselves requires a lot,
- 11:49SPEAKER_00: a lot,
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: a lot,
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: many,
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: many,
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: many,
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: multiple,
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: a variety,
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: an array,
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: a vast type of countless conversations we have zero fucking interest in having.
- 12:05SPEAKER_00: These are peak moments to experiment with our willingness to upgrade as well.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: As we indulge in these experiences,
- 12:15SPEAKER_00: we increase our ability to remain grounded within ourselves,
- 12:19SPEAKER_00: to expand our mind with other people's perspectives,
- 12:23SPEAKER_00: and choose to self-reflect and self-connect after these types of conversations so
- 12:29SPEAKER_00: we can move forward with greater clarity of our own perspectives and
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: and how we show up in the world.
- 12:40SPEAKER_00: This ultimately welcomes the uni to do its magic and co-create our next upgrade.
- 12:49SPEAKER_00: Are you willing to upgrade?
- 12:53SPEAKER_00: Now, a perspective dance with in one ear, out the other.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: In one ear, through the lens of self-friendship,
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: out my mouth, and onto this podcast.
- 13:11SPEAKER_00: Cute.
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: Now, the question of the week.
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: This week, try to catch yourself responding, I know, to something and quickly sub affirmed for it.
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: Let me know how it goes.
