Transcript
- 0:00You have arrived. Welcome to the Aspie world.
- 0:04Here's where we talk about anything and everything ASD in
- 0:07an upbeat and informative way. And now here's your man on the
- 0:12spectrum, your Autism Ambassador, Daniel Morgan Jones.
- 0:20So this is how you know if you have ADHD and autism, I'm
- 0:23talking about 5 must see traits that you need to know to
- 0:25discover all of that right now. Coming up, guys, what's going
- 0:28on? My name is Dan, I have autism
- 0:29and ADHD and I make videos on this every single week.
- 0:32So if you're new around here and you want to learn more about
- 0:34those specific topics, make sure to hit the subscriber and book
- 0:36the notification bell down below and follow me on Facebook,
- 0:39Instagram, Tiktok and Twitter for daily videos as well because
- 0:42you do videos on those two which is super dope.
- 0:44OK, so. ADHD and autism is a comorbid
- 0:48conditioning where you can have a diagnosis of both of them
- 0:51simultaneously or independently. But a lot of the people and most
- 0:54of the people I'd say on the autism spectrum have a comorbid
- 0:57diagnosis of ADHD. Now ADHD is attached to
- 1:01hyperactivity disorder, but sometimes doesn't always have
- 1:04hyperactivity with it, but regardless of that.
- 1:08This video is awesome because I've got 5 traits I want to talk
- 1:10to you about that you can see the crossover and these things
- 1:12are so challenging because they impact your life in so many
- 1:16ways. So the first one I'm going to
- 1:17talk about is irritability and hyper focus.
- 1:19So autistic people will be able to sit down and focus on a
- 1:22specific task or a topic right for large amounts of times.
- 1:26I mean I used to sit down and and want to watch alien movies
- 1:30like homemade movies of Ufo's in the sky and I was really sad
- 1:33until like 3:00 o'clock in the morning, wake up my keyboard
- 1:35however the ADHD brain kicks in and.
- 1:38Makes you want to stand up and walk around and go downstairs
- 1:39and make some tea. And then you know you like,
- 1:41bounce up and down and maybe walk to the side of the room and
- 1:44pause the video and look at something else.
- 1:45I'll pause that video and look at something else.
- 1:47So it's kind of like a battle between wanting to really focus
- 1:50on something. I wanted to get up every 10
- 1:52seconds and do something else. This is so common between autism
- 1:55and ADHD. It's really funny because this
- 1:57is probably the biggest one that like, really sucks for me and it
- 1:59really, I think it annoys me the most.
- 2:02But this is what it is. We are how we are and we're all
- 2:04amazing. So that was #1 okay.
- 2:06So #2 is special interest. And rapid interest switching, Oh
- 2:10boy, let's get into it. So people on the opposite
- 2:12inspection will have a specific topic of interest that they're
- 2:15obsessed with and that they really kind of obsess over,
- 2:17right? And they love to learn about,
- 2:18they love to research, love to talk about And like you talk
- 2:21about it for hours with them. They collect all the things that
- 2:24in that genre of topic. But the ADHD brain will then
- 2:28make you want to switch your obsessive interest rapidly so
- 2:31you have many different special interests on the other ones and
- 2:33then as soon as you consume enough capital on that thing.
- 2:37You move to something else. This is how the idioty brain and
- 2:41the autism brain have this big fight pretty much every single
- 2:45day. And it's really fascinating to
- 2:48see because you can really be obsessed with many different
- 2:50topics and learn many different things.
- 2:52This is why a lot of people will say that autistic people are
- 2:54very intelligent or have a high IQ, because they're switching
- 2:56between these topics and learning vast amounts of
- 2:58different things all the time and retaining that information,
- 3:01which is something that I actually do as well.
- 3:03And it is, again, quite a funny thing to talk about, and I never
- 3:06really sit down and talk about it myself.
- 3:07This is why I'm doing this video, because I want you guys
- 3:09to know what this is like and maybe you have it.
- 3:12Let me know down below if these are resonating with you.
- 3:13Drop me a comment down below and give the video.
- 3:15Like it really helps me out. Okay.
- 3:17So #3 is fast speech and monotone talking.
- 3:21So autistic individuals will want to talk about their special
- 3:26topic of interest, but they will have a very monotone talk.
- 3:28There will be no inflections on words and stuff like that.
- 3:31It'll be very monotone, almost kind of like robotic talking,
- 3:34but. The ADHD brain will make you
- 3:36talk super fast. So I feel like I talk really,
- 3:39really fast. And when I'm in real life, when
- 3:41I'm talking to people have monotone talking.
- 3:43When I'm doing videos, I'm performing, I'm doing this like
- 3:45this. But if you, you know, if we were
- 3:46talking normally and you were here with me right now, I talk
- 3:48like this and it'll be very monotone talking and I would
- 3:51have a very rapid speech because a DHD wants you to speak really
- 3:54fast because your brain's going like 1000 miles an hour, but
- 3:58also someone choose to have a really flat.
- 4:00Flow, you know, flow, pace to how you talk, which is really
- 4:04interesting because it's the most frustrating thing to me
- 4:07because I trip over my words all the time and I also mumble
- 4:10sometimes because it's just a big kind of like they're just
- 4:13hitting heads constantly, those two things.
- 4:15OK, so #4 is wanting to be social versus social anxiety.
- 4:20So lots of people with a DHD want to be social and make
- 4:23friends and have fun because they want to do crazy stuff and
- 4:25they want to kind of like, you know, really feel that
- 4:29friendship because friendship. Allows for a comfortable feeling
- 4:32that you know that you're being looked after and that you are
- 4:34liked and you're loved and that there's nothing wrong with that.
- 4:36And a DHD people find interesting in those things
- 4:38because they can have attention with different types of people
- 4:41for short amount of time and that's great.
- 4:43On the other hand, and this does go for a DHD as well, but on the
- 4:46other hand, the, the autism brain really does have social
- 4:48anxiety issues. And so as much as we want to go
- 4:51and socialize with people, we'll also find it very, very socially
- 4:55anxious ridden to go to a pub or a club or or or an event or a
- 4:58party or something like that. So you've got this kind of.
- 5:00Like, again, this wants to go and socialize and then the want
- 5:04to also hold back from socializing because of the the
- 5:06social anxiety that comes with going to a specific place.
- 5:10Which is really annoying, but it is what it is and it's kind of
- 5:13funny, I suppose in a way not really funny, you know what I
- 5:15mean? Not actually ha funny, but just
- 5:17like, oh, it's quite interesting, isn't it?
- 5:18#5 is wanting to talk a lot, but then also forgetting what you
- 5:21want to say. So autistic individuals want to
- 5:23talk a lot about something that they love forever.
- 5:26I mean, if I want to sit down here and talk to you about
- 5:27marketing and social media marketing and management, I
- 5:30could sit down. I'll talk to you about it
- 5:31forever. FYI, guys, if you do want to
- 5:33learn anything from me like that, drop me a comment.
- 5:34We could always, you know, do a video on that.
- 5:37But I love social media marketing and and everything to
- 5:39encompass that and SEO. You know, everything comes into
- 5:42marketing In terms of the ADHD brain, how often do you kind of,
- 5:48like start saying something, but your brain starts wandering off
- 5:51and you forget what you're doing.
- 5:52You're like, Oh my gosh, I'm stood up in front of my entire
- 5:55family telling the story and now my brain has just.
- 5:57Exited the room and I have no idea what I'm talking about.
- 6:00Now I have to just stop abruptly and then nobody knows what the
- 6:04end of the story is that you're like, I don't even know what the
- 6:06end of stories because I forgot what I'm talking about.
- 6:07This is so funny. This happens all the time and
- 6:10it's definitely it's an ADHD classic, but it's also annoying
- 6:14because the autistic part of you wants to just kind of go all
- 6:16like train in and get in this like, locomotive information.
- 6:21So that's really funny And it's, it's it's how they react.
- 6:24So do you suffer with the ADHD on autism kind of overlap.
- 6:27Let me know when the comment down below.
