- 1:11Speaker 1: This is a podcast called 25 Whistles.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Talking football and they all wear a whistle.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Yeah, it's stupid, but what did you expect?
- 1:22Speaker 4: It's a podcast called 25 Whistles.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Would you like restaurants to have a no phone section?
- 1:32Speaker 3: I don't care about that. No, no, that's stupid. I mean,
- 1:35Speaker 3: people want to use their phones. They can use their phones.
- 1:38Speaker 3: That doesn't bother me. Especially people with kids. Dude, let
- 1:40Speaker 3: it rip. I understand what that's like.
- 1:42Speaker 1: But if you're in a no phone section, you don't
- 1:44Speaker 1: have to be bothered by phones.
- 1:45Speaker 3: But what's the bother? What's the phone? Like, how does
- 1:48Speaker 3: that bother you? If the person next to you sitting
- 1:51Speaker 3: there is on their phone or using their phone.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Could be sound. It could be they're on their phone.
- 1:58Speaker 5: I didn't think about that.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Taking a FaceTime. A bunch of things. But do you
- 2:03Speaker 1: know how for a while, back when we were kids,
- 2:06Speaker 1: you could smoke in a restaurant?
- 2:07Speaker 3: Dude, that was crazy.
- 2:08Speaker 1: You probably never had that.
- 2:10Speaker 2: No.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Dude, Applebee's had a smoking section.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Well, it was a no smoking section first. So you
- 2:18Speaker 1: could smoke in the restaurant and there'd be a no
- 2:20Speaker 1: smoking section. And then it got to where then there
- 2:22Speaker 1: was just a smoking section. So they started to make
- 2:24Speaker 1: it smaller where you could smoke. And then it was
- 2:27Speaker 1: completely eliminated. And so I think possibly this will be
- 2:31Speaker 1: what happens with phones where people just don't want to
- 2:33Speaker 1: be bothered by people on their phones. And also you
- 2:35Speaker 1: can even put yourself in a situation for success. So
- 2:38Speaker 1: you go in, you go into the section with no
- 2:42Speaker 1: phones and then you and your family can't use your
- 2:44Speaker 1: phones because you're in the section of no phones. So
- 2:46Speaker 1: that's how you tell your kids we can't be on
- 2:48Speaker 1: our phones. Yeah.
- 2:49Speaker 3: No, but I like them on their phones.
- 2:51Speaker 1: But I'm saying some people have trouble with their kids,
- 2:53Speaker 1: like with connection. Oh, you're always on your phone all
- 2:55Speaker 1: the time. Okay, we'll go to the restaurant, but we're
- 2:57Speaker 1: going to sit in the no phone section.
- 2:58Speaker 3: I didn't think about that.
- 2:59Speaker 5: Eddie, are your kids those kids that have the headphones
- 3:02Speaker 5: on the whole time at dinner?
- 3:03Speaker 1: No.
- 3:03Speaker 5: Because I see that now, I'm like, dang, I feel
- 3:04Speaker 5: bad for those parents, man. They just sit there and
- 3:06Speaker 5: their headphones on the whole time, the kids?
- 3:08Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 3:09Speaker 1: I didn't know that.
- 3:09Speaker 3: Was a thing. So you're talking about older kids, like teenagers?
- 3:12Speaker 5: Yeah, like 15, 16.
- 3:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:12Speaker 5: And they just sit there with AirPods or whatever in
- 3:15Speaker 5: and they literally just don't even pay attention to their family.
- 3:18Speaker 3: So we don't allow that at restaurants or anything like that.
- 3:20Speaker 3: But yeah, dude, it's a thing. Like they put their
- 3:22Speaker 3: headphones on in the car and I'll be like, hey,
- 3:24Speaker 3: so what happened at school today? And they won't answer.
- 3:27Speaker 3: And I'm like, hey, I'm talking to you. And then
- 3:29Speaker 3: you got to remind, oh, they have their headphones on.
- 3:31Speaker 1: So is there the expectation, though, that they should be
- 3:34Speaker 1: focused on dad when they get in the car?
- 3:35Speaker 3: A little bit. A little bit or not, because that's...
- 3:39Speaker 3: To me, it's like you got to be aware. We're
- 3:43Speaker 3: only in the car for 10 minutes. Let's talk.
- 3:45Speaker 1: But do they know that? Yes. Because if they don't,
- 3:47Speaker 1: it's unfair to go, hey, headphones out.
- 3:50Speaker 3: But my oldest son, he wears headphones 24-7. Even if
- 3:53Speaker 3: he's not listening to music, he's got the AirPod in there.
- 3:56Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 3:56Speaker 3: And it's like, dude, you've got to let me know
- 3:59Speaker 3: or be engaged. If we're all in the kitchen together,
- 4:01Speaker 3: take those off so we can talk. Instead of me
- 4:04Speaker 3: having to wave, I literally have to get in front
- 4:06Speaker 3: of him and wave my hands. Hey, I'm talking to you.
- 4:10Speaker 3: It's bizarre, man.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Does he listen to music or podcasts? Music.
- 4:14Speaker 6: Always.
- 4:14Speaker 1: What kind of music does he like?
- 4:15Speaker 3: Hip-hop. Dude, I can just hear it. Like, I'm in
- 4:18Speaker 3: the kitchen, all I hear is.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Through AirPods, you can hear it?
- 4:20Speaker 3: Sometimes. He's got it so loud. That's crazy.
- 4:23Speaker 1: That you can hear it through AirPods.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:26Speaker 1: So this is an Eddie suggested segment. What would your
- 4:28Speaker 1: team's headline be this week? Mm-hmm. I'm assuming that you
- 4:32Speaker 1: have one.
- 4:32Speaker 3: So you're a writer, right? You're a writer. Hey, Bobby,
- 4:35Speaker 3: we need a headline. This week about your team. Okay.
- 4:39Speaker 3: Give it to me.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Do we still suck as bad as we once thought?
- 4:48Speaker 1: Because we beat Tulsa last week, but they had a
- 4:50Speaker 1: backup quarterback, and they're a pretty good G5 school. But again,
- 4:56Speaker 1: it was a backup quarterback, and they were celebrating how good.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Look at our defense. They did so great. But it
- 5:01Speaker 1: was a backup quarterback.
- 5:03Speaker 3: And who do you have this week?
- 5:04Speaker 1: Texas A & M and College Station. So I'm still
- 5:06Speaker 1: going to go with, do we suck as bad as
- 5:08Speaker 1: we once thought we did?
- 5:09Speaker 3: Okay, I like that. Because there's positive to that headline.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Yeah, because we may not suck as bad as we
- 5:14Speaker 1: thought we did.
- 5:14Speaker 5: We may be getting better. Here we go.
- 5:15Speaker 1: What about you and the Patriots?
- 5:17Speaker 5: Probably, can we survive the unicorn this weekend? Because we
- 5:22Speaker 5: played Josh Allen in the Bills.
- 5:24Speaker 7: Oh, man.
- 5:24Speaker 5: And that man is a unicorn. And we were struggling.
- 5:27Speaker 5: So can we survive?
- 5:27Speaker 1: I think if you wrote that, people would be like,
- 5:29Speaker 1: what do you mean? You need to give more context.
- 5:31Speaker 3: Is he called the unicorn?
- 5:32Speaker 1: Survive the unicorn.
- 5:33Speaker 5: Can we survive Josh Allen? Getting better?
- 5:37Speaker 1: We're not judging you. I didn't understand what you meant
- 5:40Speaker 1: by unicorn until you said Josh Allen.
- 5:42Speaker 5: Okay, can we, yeah.
- 5:44Speaker 1: How about, do we suck as bad as we think?
- 5:45Speaker 3: Yeah, everybody thinks we do.
- 5:47Speaker 5: Will we hit the Drake Mayday this weekend?
- 5:49Speaker 1: All right, we will come back in a second. We'll
- 5:51Speaker 1: talk to Ted Wynn now, who is on with us.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Joining us is Ted Wynn. Ted's a senior NFL writer
- 5:56Speaker 1: for The Athletic, one of the best film analysts covering
- 5:58Speaker 1: the league. You can check out his podcast called Just Wynn,
- 6:01Speaker 1: which covers the Raiders, and you can check out his work,
- 6:04Speaker 1: The Athletic, which is great. Ted, thanks for jumping on
- 6:07Speaker 1: with us. And since you do specialize in the Raiders,
- 6:10Speaker 1: how do you feel about a 3-0 Raiders start? Where
- 6:13Speaker 1: are we sitting? Are we confident or are we just
- 6:15Speaker 1: waiting for the ball to drop?
- 6:16Speaker 7: Well, I think it's definitely surprising that they're 3-0 at
- 6:19Speaker 7: this point, especially when you look at where they are
- 6:22Speaker 7: supposed to be.
- 6:23Speaker 6: In their timeline of development.
- 6:26Speaker 7: But I think for Raider fans, they should just be
- 6:29Speaker 7: happy that the team is doing things right as a franchise.
- 6:32Speaker 7: You get the number one pick, you get a good
- 6:35Speaker 7: mentor in Kirk Cousins, who's playing much better than anybody
- 6:38Speaker 7: thought he would be. He has nine touchdowns through three games.
- 6:42Speaker 7: And to me, I think the wins are a bonus.
- 6:45Speaker 7: They played Miami, who isn't very good, a Chargers team
- 6:48Speaker 7: that's struggling. And they did beat New Orleans in New Orleans,
- 6:53Speaker 7: but it was a close game. So I think things
- 6:57Speaker 7: will eventually regress to the norm. But I think it's
- 7:01Speaker 7: undeniable that the Raiders are on the right track as
- 7:04Speaker 7: far as just getting back to a competent franchise.
- 7:08Speaker 6: And we haven't seen that in a long time.
- 7:10Speaker 1: And those first two wins that you talked about, Dolphins
- 7:13Speaker 1: and Chargers and It's exciting to win those. But week three,
- 7:16Speaker 1: you have Brock Bowers back. That dude is awesome. That's
- 7:20Speaker 1: got to be a real shot to the system in
- 7:22Speaker 1: a positive way moving forward too, right?
- 7:24Speaker 6: Yeah, for sure.
- 7:24Speaker 7: I mean, I think Brock Bowers is one of the
- 7:28Speaker 7: best offensive weapons in the league, period. And he proved
- 7:30Speaker 7: that in a big way coming back. And he's really
- 7:33Speaker 7: just about, he's not 100%. He's probably around 80% to 90%
- 7:39Speaker 7: coming back from knee surgery right before the season. So
- 7:44Speaker 7: I think just watching how the Raiders deployed him as
- 7:47Speaker 7: a wide receiver, I think he only had nine snaps
- 7:50Speaker 7: lined up as an inline tight end. And just watching
- 7:53Speaker 7: him dominate cornerbacks that are pretty decent cornerbacks, that that
- 7:57Speaker 7: was pretty revealing of what kind of weapon he can be.
- 8:01Speaker 7: I think we'll see him line up inside a little
- 8:05Speaker 7: bit more which you can create more mismatches that way
- 8:08Speaker 7: um but i mean just seeing him play the way
- 8:11Speaker 7: he did it just reminds me of puka nakua like
- 8:14Speaker 7: this he's that kind of weapon and can be used
- 8:16Speaker 7: like in that sort of way in.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Your film review of jj mccarthy and we'll move to
- 8:20Speaker 1: the giants what's the best case scenario with jj mccarthy
- 8:24Speaker 1: with the giants and And also, when do you expect
- 8:27Speaker 1: him to actually, if he does, start?
- 8:29Speaker 7: I think it should be at least a month until
- 8:33Speaker 7: he gets in there. I mean, this is the guy
- 8:35Speaker 7: that struggled to learn the offense in Minnesota, and it's
- 8:39Speaker 7: been years there. So he has to go to New York,
- 8:42Speaker 7: learn a new offense, a new language that he's never learned.
- 8:46Speaker 7: He's never learned before. So it's going to take some
- 8:49Speaker 7: time for him to get acclimated. And, you know, you
- 8:51Speaker 7: want him to be comfortable when you put him out there.
- 8:53Speaker 7: You don't want him just kind of struggling to figure
- 8:56Speaker 7: things out. I think the best case scenario for him
- 8:59Speaker 7: is to play well. And I don't expect, you know,
- 9:02Speaker 7: playing well doesn't mean for him to throw 20 touchdowns
- 9:06Speaker 7: to two interceptions or something like that. But just to
- 9:09Speaker 7: show that he's developed some because he's The reason why
- 9:13Speaker 7: they gave up on him in Minnesota is because there
- 9:16Speaker 7: was a serious lack of development. You just didn't see
- 9:19Speaker 7: improvement from.
- 9:20Speaker 6: Year to year.
- 9:21Speaker 7: So show that you can get to your second read
- 9:23Speaker 7: a little bit faster.
- 9:24Speaker 6: Show you can throw with a little bit more touch.
- 9:27Speaker 7: Show that your athleticism can make a difference in an
- 9:30Speaker 7: offense that will ask you to make plays with your
- 9:33Speaker 7: legs as a runner. So I think the best case
- 9:36Speaker 7: scenario for him is to play well, show some improvement,
- 9:40Speaker 7: and ultimately be a backup for Jackson Dart for a
- 9:43Speaker 7: year or two, maybe sit out. And then just kind
- 9:45Speaker 7: of follow along with the Geno Smith, Sam Darnold type
- 9:48Speaker 7: of timeline and reclamation project.
- 9:51Speaker 1: What's going on with Drake May?
- 9:54Speaker 7: I think we overrated the Patriots offense last year. This
- 9:58Speaker 7: was a bad offensive linebacker.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Line.
- 10:00Speaker 7: They didn't have that, that much, many weapons. And this
- 10:03Speaker 7: year the, the weapons are not good, especially with AJ Brown, um, injured.
- 10:08Speaker 7: And you saw, you saw the cracks last year, especially
- 10:11Speaker 7: in the playoffs because during the regular season, they only
- 10:13Speaker 7: played one team that ranked in a top 10 and
- 10:16Speaker 7: points allowed per drive. Um, In the playoffs, they saw
- 10:18Speaker 7: four of those teams and they really struggled to move
- 10:21Speaker 7: the ball. And we saw what happened in the Super Bowl, obviously.
- 10:24Speaker 7: And this season, they started the season playing a bunch
- 10:27Speaker 7: of teams that are really good defensively. And against those teams,
- 10:31Speaker 7: they just can't match up. And I think Drake May
- 10:34Speaker 7: is just pressing right now.
- 10:35Speaker 1: He's.
- 10:36Speaker 7: Trying to make things happen he's trying to skip steps
- 10:40Speaker 7: and throwing the ball in places that he shouldn't he's
- 10:42Speaker 7: really pressing he's kind of spiraling mentally um so it's
- 10:46Speaker 7: a snowball effect i think there's a lot going on
- 10:48Speaker 7: i don't think it takes away from the improvements that
- 10:52Speaker 7: he made last year and the trajectory he's on he's
- 10:54Speaker 7: still one of the youngest quarterbacks uh in the league
- 10:56Speaker 7: so um It just doesn't look good right now, and
- 11:00Speaker 7: he needs more support. I don't know how much that
- 11:02Speaker 7: offensive line can improve during the season, but it should
- 11:05Speaker 7: help when he gets A.J. Brown back eventually. But he
- 11:09Speaker 7: just needs a mental reset and to just stop pressing
- 11:12Speaker 7: as much as he is right now.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Overnight saw that Joey Porter Jr. was traded to the Cowboys.
- 11:17Speaker 1: And a lot of that was probably because they couldn't
- 11:20Speaker 1: get the deal done in Pittsburgh. So they were getting
- 11:22Speaker 1: what they could. How do you see this helping Dallas?
- 11:25Speaker 1: And did you think Pittsburgh would get the deal done?
- 11:28Speaker 7: No, I mean, from everything we've heard, it just seemed
- 11:31Speaker 7: like they were way too far apart. It never seemed
- 11:34Speaker 7: like they got close as far as getting a deal done.
- 11:36Speaker 7: It seemed like that relationship was strained. I didn't know
- 11:39Speaker 7: if a trade was going to happen or not. But yeah,
- 11:43Speaker 7: it just seemed like things were just too contentious between
- 11:46Speaker 7: the player and the team. But for Dallas, they really
- 11:49Speaker 7: need secondary help. I mean, I was looking at this
- 11:52Speaker 7: cornerback group before the season, and it's one of the
- 11:54Speaker 7: worst cornerback groups in the league. So I don't think
- 11:58Speaker 7: Porter is a top-tier corner, but he's probably in that
- 12:02Speaker 7: second tier of corners, but he wants to get paid
- 12:04Speaker 7: like one of the top corners, which is why Pittsburgh
- 12:07Speaker 7: wanted to trade him and kind of struggled to find him.
- 12:10Speaker 7: trading partner for a while until Dallas finally gave in
- 12:13Speaker 7: and gave him that second round pick, even though it's
- 12:15Speaker 7: in twenty twenty eight and twenty twenty seven. Those picks
- 12:18Speaker 7: are just very valuable right now. But it does give
- 12:21Speaker 7: Christian Parker, the Cowboys defensive coordinator, some flexibility with the secondary.
- 12:27Speaker 7: Maybe Caleb Downs moves away from the nickel and back
- 12:30Speaker 7: to more of a free safety. We'll see how they
- 12:34Speaker 7: move things around, but they just desperately needed some talent
- 12:38Speaker 7: and If you have a guy that you can trust
- 12:41Speaker 7: in one-on-one coverage, it just allows you to do a
- 12:44Speaker 7: little bit more from a coverage standpoint as far as
- 12:46Speaker 7: helping in other places. And I think Porter just really
- 12:49Speaker 7: fills that need nicely for them.
- 12:51Speaker 1: The NFC East feels odd because Washington, probably not good.
- 12:57Speaker 1: The Eagles, I don't even know what's happening there. The Giants,
- 13:02Speaker 1: they lost their quarterback. And here we are with the Cowboys.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Can the Cowboys win that division?
- 13:07Speaker 6: Definitely.
- 13:07Speaker 7: I mean, when I watched that Ravens game, I came
- 13:10Speaker 7: away really encouraged. I mean, the offense looks like it
- 13:13Speaker 7: can be that elite offense we expected them to be.
- 13:16Speaker 6: They could run the ball. Tyler guiding their left tackle.
- 13:19Speaker 7: That is kind of a developmental project that's been a
- 13:21Speaker 7: little disappointing last couple of years.
- 13:24Speaker 6: He looks awesome. He looks like he's taking the next step.
- 13:26Speaker 7: So if you have Tyler Guyton, who may be becoming
- 13:29Speaker 7: a star at left tackle, and you get your left
- 13:33Speaker 7: guard back, Tyler Smith, who's an all pro, that can
- 13:35Speaker 7: be a really good left side of the line that
- 13:38Speaker 7: we know about all the other talent they have. the
- 13:40Speaker 7: offensive side of the ball. So I think it's going
- 13:42Speaker 7: to be an elite offense. And I think defensively, obviously
- 13:46Speaker 7: we know about all the struggles they've made, but they
- 13:50Speaker 7: had some good stops against the Ravens, and I don't
- 13:52Speaker 7: expect them to be.
- 13:54Speaker 6: A good defense.
- 13:55Speaker 7: But if you could finish around that 20th range in
- 13:59Speaker 7: several major defensive categories, that's going to be good enough
- 14:03Speaker 7: with how good this offense could be. And obviously adding
- 14:06Speaker 7: Joey Porter is going to help that.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Let's go back to the Raiders for a second, since
- 14:11Speaker 1: it's your specialty and talk about Fernando Mendoza. What's he
- 14:14Speaker 1: feeling right now?
- 14:15Speaker 7: I mean, I think if you're Fernando Mendoza, you should be...
- 14:18Speaker 7: I think he's genuinely happy that the team is winning.
- 14:22Speaker 7: And I think having a mentor like Kirk Cousins, who
- 14:25Speaker 7: plays the game the right way, and just watching him
- 14:29Speaker 7: execute this offense and watching him read these defenses and
- 14:32Speaker 7: be so confident in where to go with the ball quickly,
- 14:35Speaker 7: it's just a great learning opportunity for him. So.
- 14:41Speaker 7: I think, of course, he wants to play. But I
- 14:44Speaker 7: think as far as just sitting back and watching a veteran,
- 14:48Speaker 7: there's probably nobody better than Kirk Cousins, especially in Kubiak's system.
- 14:53Speaker 1: You watching the Raiders on film and they have a
- 14:55Speaker 1: big game with Kansas City coming up. How do you
- 14:56Speaker 1: feel like they match up against what Kansas City does offensively?
- 15:01Speaker 7: Yeah, this is going to be a really difficult game
- 15:03Speaker 7: for the Raiders. This is going to be by far
- 15:05Speaker 7: the best team that they've seen. It's going to be
- 15:07Speaker 7: by far the best quarterback they've seen. I mean, Patrick
- 15:10Speaker 7: Mahomes looked a little rusty in week one, but ever
- 15:13Speaker 7: since then, he's playing some awesome ball as far as
- 15:16Speaker 7: just layering the ball over defenders. really becoming a dangerous
- 15:21Speaker 7: play-action quarterback, which was a little bit of a question
- 15:24Speaker 7: because it's something he didn't do at a high volume before.
- 15:28Speaker 7: But now that they have Kenneth Walker and his run
- 15:30Speaker 7: game going, he's really taking advantage of those play-action opportunities.
- 15:35Speaker 7: And for the Raiders, their run defense was a question
- 15:38Speaker 7: for them coming into the season, but they've been a
- 15:40Speaker 7: lot better than even I expected. And some of that
- 15:44Speaker 7: comes to Tonka Hemingway's Their third-year defensive tackle making a leap.
- 15:49Speaker 7: They signed a defensive tackle, Fatukasi, who's a six-year veteran.
- 15:53Speaker 7: He's been awesome for them. But it's going to be
- 15:56Speaker 7: really put to the test against this Chiefs offensive line
- 15:59Speaker 7: that's playing maybe the most physical brand of football in
- 16:03Speaker 7: the league right now. They're doing that without Josh Simmons,
- 16:06Speaker 7: their left tackle, who they drafted in the first round
- 16:09Speaker 7: last year. So it's going to be a difficult challenge
- 16:11Speaker 7: going against this run game. And this elite quarterback, who's
- 16:14Speaker 7: really good at sniffing out blitzes, and the Raiders have
- 16:18Speaker 7: been able to take advantage of some of these quarterbacks
- 16:19Speaker 7: that they face with the blitz, it's going to be
- 16:21Speaker 7: much harder. against Mahomes and defensively uh speaks Steve Spagnuolo
- 16:26Speaker 7: is one of the best blitzers in the league I
- 16:28Speaker 7: think Kirk Cousins is going to be able to sniff
- 16:30Speaker 7: out some of those blitzes uh but coverage is going
- 16:33Speaker 7: to be much tighter I expect a pretty high scoring
- 16:35Speaker 7: game though um they just don't have anybody that could
- 16:38Speaker 7: guard Brock Bowers 101 not a lot of teams do
- 16:40Speaker 7: um so I think it's gonna be a high scoring
- 16:43Speaker 7: game um but it's by far the Raiders biggest challenge
- 16:46Speaker 7: of the season they've seen so far Where do.
- 16:48Speaker 1: You land on the Brock Purdy conversation where this is
- 16:51Speaker 1: an MVP type start of the year, but obviously you
- 16:54Speaker 1: hear the people go, well, he's just a product of
- 16:55Speaker 1: Kyle Shanahan. Brock Purdy to you is what?
- 16:59Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, I think you cannot deny the Kyle
- 17:01Speaker 7: Shanahan effect because we've seen it too many times. Like,
- 17:04Speaker 7: Jimmy Garoppolo looked like a borderline all-pro in his offense,
- 17:08Speaker 7: and then he leaves the system and he becomes a third-string,
- 17:11Speaker 7: second-string quarterback elsewhere. And, you know, we've seen that with
- 17:14Speaker 7: Nick Mullins. And there's certainly a Kyle Shanahan effect to
- 17:18Speaker 7: Brock Purdy's success, but I think he's playing so well
- 17:21Speaker 7: right now, and he's also making— Really good second reaction
- 17:26Speaker 7: type of plays outside the structure of the offense. And,
- 17:30Speaker 7: you know, like he just I think he's only got
- 17:32Speaker 7: sacked once this season. He has one turnover, which was
- 17:36Speaker 7: a major sticking point and criticism I've had of Brock
- 17:38Speaker 7: Purdy for a long time was his turnover rate. He
- 17:41Speaker 7: last year was his highest turnover rate he's ever had.
- 17:44Speaker 7: I think it was like 4.8 or something, which is
- 17:46Speaker 7: twice that. the league average. This year, he's cut that
- 17:50Speaker 7: down completely. He's only thrown one interception. He hasn't fumbled.
- 17:53Speaker 7: So to me, he is playing MVP type of football.
- 17:56Speaker 7: He's playing at such a high level that it's hard
- 17:58Speaker 7: to separate him from the system right now. And I
- 18:01Speaker 7: don't think we should with the way that he's making
- 18:04Speaker 7: plays outside of structure.
- 18:05Speaker 6: So to me, he is the MVP leader as of
- 18:09Speaker 6: right now.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Okay, two questions. Is there any chance the Browns aren't terrible?
- 18:15Speaker 7: I mean, I like Todd Monken as a offensive coach.
- 18:18Speaker 7: I thought he did a pretty good job in Baltimore.
- 18:21Speaker 7: I mean, and obviously... we don't know how that translates
- 18:25Speaker 7: to being a head coach. Um, but he has them
- 18:28Speaker 7: at two and one, the defense looks like it's better
- 18:31Speaker 7: than people expected. It was going to be without, uh,
- 18:33Speaker 7: miles Garrett and Deshaun Watson. Isn't playing that well right now.
- 18:38Speaker 7: I mean, he's playing a little bit better than expected,
- 18:40Speaker 7: but they're still finding ways to move the ball. And
- 18:43Speaker 7: I really liked the receiver duo with Denzel Boston and
- 18:46Speaker 7: Casey conception. Um, I think this team is just a
- 18:50Speaker 7: quarterback away from being really good. And the infrastructure looks
- 18:54Speaker 7: like it's going to be there. So I don't think
- 18:58Speaker 7: they're terrible.
- 18:59Speaker 6: I really don't. I think the infrastructure is there.
- 19:01Speaker 7: I think Deshaun Watson is really weighing them down, even
- 19:03Speaker 7: though he does have his moments at times.
- 19:06Speaker 6: So to answer your question, yeah, the Browns are better
- 19:08Speaker 6: than people expect.
- 19:09Speaker 7: And if they're able to get that quarterback with the
- 19:13Speaker 7: high draft pick or trade or whatever it is, I
- 19:15Speaker 7: think they're going to get great. they could move towards
- 19:18Speaker 7: being a good team as soon as next year.
- 19:20Speaker 1: And my final question, were you a high school football coach?
- 19:23Speaker 6: I was.
- 19:24Speaker 7: I coached high school football I played quarterback in high
- 19:27Speaker 7: school in an option offense. So I was like an
- 19:30Speaker 7: extra running back, but I knew I wasn't good enough
- 19:32Speaker 7: to play college after. So I started coaching football and
- 19:36Speaker 7: it was really fun, but I did not like the
- 19:38Speaker 7: teaching aspect of it. Because usually if you're a coach,
- 19:41Speaker 7: you have to be a high school teacher. But I
- 19:43Speaker 7: really did not like teaching. And um i it's a
- 19:46Speaker 7: long story but i found my way to sports journalism
- 19:48Speaker 7: and it's been a blast ever since so.
- 19:50Speaker 1: When you say teaching at first i thought you meant
- 19:52Speaker 1: like teaching the players but you meant going into the
- 19:54Speaker 1: classroom and having to teach history yeah.
- 19:56Speaker 7: Exactly and what i mean i taught i taught pe
- 19:59Speaker 7: and i taught english pe is just kids don't want
- 20:01Speaker 7: to run these days and english you got a great
- 20:03Speaker 7: too many papers.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Were you a head coach assistant coach how for how
- 20:07Speaker 1: high did you get up.
- 20:10Speaker 7: I was an offensive coordinator for a while, and then
- 20:13Speaker 7: I wanted to be a head coach, so I moved
- 20:15Speaker 7: down to the JV level to be a head coach
- 20:18Speaker 7: for a while. And we went 8-1 and 7-3, and
- 20:21Speaker 7: those were my last seasons.
- 20:23Speaker 6: So I just ended on a high note.
- 20:25Speaker 1: That's so funny. Do you miss it at all?
- 20:28Speaker 6: I do. I really miss it.
- 20:31Speaker 7: It's something I want to do in the future, but
- 20:33Speaker 7: like during football season when you have to write and
- 20:36Speaker 7: do all these podcasts and it's just impossible to do
- 20:39Speaker 7: it with the time demands.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Well, I really enjoy your stuff on The Athletic and
- 20:43Speaker 1: I hope that you guys go and check out the
- 20:44Speaker 1: podcast Just Win. And that podcast is you and a
- 20:47Speaker 1: former player, right?
- 20:49Speaker 7: Yeah, Marshall Newhouse, who was a right tackle for the
- 20:52Speaker 7: Raiders for a while. And it's been a blast having
- 20:55Speaker 7: him as part of the podcast. We've cycled through co-hosts
- 20:59Speaker 7: for different reasons but ever since Marshall has joined it's
- 21:03Speaker 7: been awesome and fans have really enjoyed him.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Well Ted we really appreciate the time thank you and
- 21:08Speaker 1: hopefully we'll talk to you again soon alright thanks for
- 21:10Speaker 1: having me on alright there he is Ted Wynn you
- 21:12Speaker 1: guys check out Just Wynn also check out his work
- 21:15Speaker 1: at theathletic.com before Ted came on Eddie you have to
- 21:19Speaker 1: do your headline.
- 21:19Speaker 3: My headline I think Ted kind of hit on that
- 21:22Speaker 3: a little bit I think we're going to go with
- 21:24Speaker 3: Jerry Jones has not given up on this season That
- 21:27Speaker 3: was refreshing to see happen, this trade, because you look
- 21:32Speaker 3: at the season, you look at the defense, and you're like, gosh,
- 21:34Speaker 3: everyone's hurt, man. We don't even have a defense. We're
- 21:37Speaker 3: pulling people from the practice squad up to play. We
- 21:40Speaker 3: have no one, and then he makes a trade. I
- 21:42Speaker 3: feel like he's still in it.
- 21:44Speaker 1: We shouldn't have been rude to you about your headline.
- 21:46Speaker 6: Thanks, guys.
- 21:47Speaker 1: We just didn't understand when you said, can you beat
- 21:49Speaker 1: the unicorn? If I saw that, I would think, what
- 21:50Speaker 1: are you talking about?
- 21:51Speaker 3: And if his nickname was the unicorn, that would work.
- 21:54Speaker 1: We shouldn't have been mean to you, but it was
- 21:56Speaker 1: still stupid.
- 21:58Speaker 5: Both can be true, I guess.
- 21:59Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 21:59Speaker 5: Both can be true. I was trying to think of
- 22:01Speaker 5: another one like the whole time. I just like, dang,
- 22:04Speaker 5: anything I say now, they're just going to rip apart probably.
- 22:06Speaker 5: What if it's like Drake may or may not, parentheses,
- 22:09Speaker 5: probably not.
- 22:10Speaker 3: That's so good.
- 22:11Speaker 5: Oh, man.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Dude, that's so good.
- 22:12Speaker 5: I was thinking about something with Diana Rossini in it,
- 22:15Speaker 5: but I was like, ah, that's a problem.
- 22:16Speaker 3: You don't want to go there. Now Rossini, now you don't.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Now Rossini, now you don't. Mike Grable's in a torturous peril. Yes. Mike,
- 22:25Speaker 1: what do you think about Texas? What's your headline there?
- 22:27Speaker 5: Texas is back.
- 22:28Speaker 3: Maybe.
- 22:30Speaker 1: Yeah, Texas is weird because they're winning and they've won
- 22:34Speaker 1: two good games, but they don't look good.
- 22:38Speaker 5: No, it looks like we could fall apart at any moment.
- 22:40Speaker 1: But also, I'm so biased. Like, it's unfair for me
- 22:43Speaker 1: to say that because I hate Texas. So.
- 22:47Speaker 1: I will say to my biased eyes, my anti-burn orange eyes,
- 22:51Speaker 1: you don't look good. Because it was like, Ohio State,
- 22:53Speaker 1: we looked awesome. And then came back, UTSA kind of struggled,
- 22:56Speaker 1: looked bad last week.
- 22:58Speaker 3: It just doesn't feel like it's there.
- 23:00Speaker 1: May I say this? Can I speak freely? Yeah. You
- 23:03Speaker 1: didn't look good against Ohio State for the first two
- 23:06Speaker 1: and a half quarters. But you won, so who cares?
- 23:09Speaker 1: It does not matter.
- 23:10Speaker 3: And Tennessee's a legit team, dude.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Tennessee's defense is good. Yeah, I hear you. I think
- 23:15Speaker 1: probably the want in my heart doesn't allow me to
- 23:17Speaker 1: see that they could actually be good. But I don't
- 23:20Speaker 1: feel like Arch has played that well. Yeah. And I'm
- 23:24Speaker 1: an Arch guy, so I don't have hate in my
- 23:26Speaker 1: heart for Arch. Who do you guys have this week? Nobody. Oh,
- 23:30Speaker 1: you have the Red River next week, though. That's what
- 23:33Speaker 1: it is. Who do you guys have?
- 23:35Speaker 3: Patriots?
- 23:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:36Speaker 5: We got the Unicorns.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Oh, Josh Allen. That's why I don't even remember. Unicorn.
- 23:40Speaker 3: Like, who is that, dude?
- 23:43Speaker 1: And you guys have the Texans.
- 23:44Speaker 3: Texans, a noon game.
- 23:46Speaker 1: I like to have the noon game.
- 23:47Speaker 3: You do?
- 23:48Speaker 1: Yeah, not all eyes are on you. I have a future.
- 23:51Speaker 1: I don't get angry if there's other games to take
- 23:52Speaker 1: out some of the, if I'm winning in other places
- 23:55Speaker 1: and just losing that one. Because if it's only the
- 23:58Speaker 1: Cowboys and you're losing by yourself, it's all I have
- 24:00Speaker 1: is being upset at that game.
- 24:02Speaker 3: And everyone's watching it.
- 24:03Speaker 1: Yeah, and then we play A & M. I think
- 24:05Speaker 1: that's a sixth game. 6 p.m.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Game?
- 24:08Speaker 3: 6 p.m. is the perfect time for a college football game.
- 24:11Speaker 1: I know the next week at Tennessee, it's a 3 p.m.
- 24:12Speaker 1: game in Fayetteville.
- 24:13Speaker 6: Oh, man. Are you going?
- 24:15Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 24:15Speaker 2: I might.
- 24:15Speaker 1: 3 p.m. is good if you go to the game. Yeah.
- 24:19Speaker 1: 6 p.m. is good if you're watching the game from home.
- 24:22Speaker 5: Yeah, it's at 6.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Good.
- 24:24Speaker 4: Yeah, good.
- 24:25Speaker 3: So where are you at, ongoing or not? 50-50?
- 24:27Speaker 1: To what game?
- 24:28Speaker 3: To the next week. 75-25?
- 24:30Speaker 7: 75-25.
- 24:31Speaker 5: Going?
- 24:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:32Speaker 3: Wow, that's good. Is this the one we're all going
- 24:35Speaker 3: to or just you? TBD.
- 24:37Speaker 5: Should we tell the family yet?
- 24:39Speaker 3: TBD.
- 24:39Speaker 1: I ran it by my wife yesterday. We'll talk about
- 24:41Speaker 1: it later. I ran it by my wife yesterday. That's
- 24:44Speaker 1: all I'll say for now. All right. Let's take a break.

- 26:03Speaker 1: Hey, so Eddie has watched you play the pop-a-shot over
- 26:06Speaker 1: there and does not think you're a good athlete anymore.
- 26:09Speaker 6: What?
- 26:10Speaker 3: It's just you've come on here before and been like, oh,
- 26:12Speaker 3: I played football in high school. I was a great
- 26:14Speaker 3: tight end or whatever. And then I saw you shoot
- 26:16Speaker 3: pop a shot. I'm like, this is the athlete we've
- 26:19Speaker 3: been talking about?
- 26:20Speaker 5: Because of pop a shot.
- 26:21Speaker 3: Well, it's still a form. It's still shooting basketballs, dude.
- 26:25Speaker 5: Okay, so what's so bad about my form or my
- 26:29Speaker 5: shooting that you think is so non-athletic, as we would say?
- 26:32Speaker 3: It looks like you just learned how to shoot a basketball. Wow.
- 26:35Speaker 2: Huh.
- 26:36Speaker 3: Shots fired. And then the score, not to mention the
- 26:38Speaker 3: score is pretty.
- 26:38Speaker 5: I beat you.
- 26:40Speaker 3: Yeah, recently, though.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Anybody can win one, to be fair.
- 26:45Speaker 3: Correct. And pop a shot, you can get lucky, and
- 26:47Speaker 3: they fall in.
- 26:48Speaker 5: Okay, but how many games do you think you play
- 26:50Speaker 5: a day there right now?
- 26:51Speaker 1: Oh, they play so much, dude.
- 26:52Speaker 5: All the time.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Like, I go out, and I get my, because I
- 26:53Speaker 1: have an account now, and so I'll do it, and
- 26:55Speaker 1: it'll go total points scored. Through all the games, like 1,000.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Eddie hits his, like, 7,000 points.
- 27:01Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm here working, like, well after the show, hours
- 27:03Speaker 5: after the show, and I walk around the corner. Him
- 27:05Speaker 5: and Ray are still just getting raised, like, in a
- 27:07Speaker 5: tank top, full of sweat. Eddie's getting his in. Dude,
- 27:12Speaker 5: give me a day or two. Well, no, first of all,
- 27:15Speaker 5: I could beat you right now for sure if we
- 27:17Speaker 5: go play one-on-one.
- 27:19Speaker 4: 1,000%.
- 27:19Speaker 1: 1,000%. Eddie does crumble when the pressure's on.
- 27:22Speaker 3: True.
- 27:23Speaker 1: So I think if you challenged him straight up and
- 27:25Speaker 1: it was... for something like pry and people were watching,
- 27:29Speaker 1: I think he'd lose.
- 27:31Speaker 5: We should play for something.
- 27:32Speaker 3: Okay. Let's play for something.
- 27:33Speaker 5: What do you want to play for?
- 27:33Speaker 3: A hundred dollars. Oh, come on.
- 27:37Speaker 6: You went big dog right away.
- 27:39Speaker 3: Big time high school athlete versus a casual.
- 27:44Speaker 5: I'm in. Let's go.
- 27:46Speaker 1: We almost have to go and shut it down and
- 27:48Speaker 1: let you guys play to come back.
- 27:50Speaker 3: And see who wins.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:51Speaker 3: I like it.
- 27:53Speaker 5: And no warmup game before.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Correct, for $ 100. Okay, so this.
- 27:57Speaker 5: Can't be like, I don't know, later on where Eddie's
- 28:00Speaker 5: already played like seven rounds.
- 28:01Speaker 3: No, no, dude, right now.
- 28:03Speaker 6: Cold.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Okay, and then we'll do like 10 more minutes here.
- 28:07Speaker 5: I got the camera.
- 28:07Speaker 3: Okay, I'm ready.
- 28:08Speaker 1: We'll do like 10 more minutes here, and then we
- 28:10Speaker 1: will go do it, and then if you're listening, you
- 28:12Speaker 1: won't know the difference. Yeah. Then we'll just come back and.
- 28:15Speaker 3: Okay.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Say what happened.
- 28:16Speaker 2: Dang.
- 28:17Speaker 3: I like it.
- 28:18Speaker 1: For $ 100.
- 28:18Speaker 6: $ 100.
- 28:18Speaker 3: Are you in?
- 28:18Speaker 5: Are you scared? No, I'm not scared. I just can't
- 28:22Speaker 5: believe you throw out $ 100 right away like that.
- 28:24Speaker 3: That's how confident I am. Dude, I've seen you shoot
- 28:27Speaker 3: over and over. I'm like, I got this.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Eddie, you have to go first.
- 28:30Speaker 3: Okay.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Or, no, I'll let Kevin pick. Do you want to
- 28:32Speaker 1: go first or second? Because here's what you should weigh.
- 28:35Speaker 5: That's a good question.
- 28:36Speaker 3: Well, don't coach him.
- 28:37Speaker 1: Well, if you go first, obviously he's going to know
- 28:41Speaker 1: what he has to beat. But also if you go first,
- 28:45Speaker 1: the pressure is on him.
- 28:46Speaker 5: Yeah, that's where my mind is at. Like, okay, that
- 28:48Speaker 5: even adds more pressure because if he sees a score
- 28:50Speaker 5: when it's like going to be 130, whatever I get.
- 28:52Speaker 7: 130?
- 28:52Speaker 1: I'm just kidding. I've never got 70.
- 28:54Speaker 3: I think my highest score is 68, I want to say.
- 29:00Speaker 5: So, yeah, I'm going to go first. Put the pressure
- 29:03Speaker 5: on them.
- 29:03Speaker 4: Okay.
- 29:04Speaker 3: Cool. And that's fine with me.
- 29:08Speaker 6: Dang.
- 29:10Speaker 3: It's on.
- 29:12Speaker 1: Is that a free hundred bucks for you?
- 29:13Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, dude. And then going into the weekend with
- 29:16Speaker 3: gambling money, this is the best.
- 29:18Speaker 1: Okay.
- 29:18Speaker 5: You're already losing gambling money.
- 29:19Speaker 3: No, I'm not.
- 29:20Speaker 1: Hey, I see that Tennessee's doing the, hey, come early.
- 29:24Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 29:25Speaker 1: And we'll cut down beer prices and food prices again.
- 29:27Speaker 5: Yeah, their happy hour.
- 29:28Speaker 1: They did it last week because the president was there
- 29:31Speaker 1: and they knew it'd be hard for people to get in.
- 29:34Speaker 1: And so they said, come early then. And if you
- 29:36Speaker 1: do that, we'll cut all the concessions down half price.
- 29:38Speaker 3: That's cool.
- 29:39Speaker 1: And so people did it. at 9 to 10 a.m.
- 29:41Speaker 1: happy hour 50% off food and drinks and what time
- 29:43Speaker 1: is the game.
- 29:44Speaker 5: Well that was last week for the 11 a.m. so
- 29:46Speaker 5: it depends what time the game is okay but if
- 29:48Speaker 5: it's like an afternoon game or a night game I
- 29:50Speaker 5: believe they opened three hours before and it's like the
- 29:52Speaker 5: first hour is 50% off like they did last week
- 29:55Speaker 5: which would.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Be awesome I was talking to my wife about the
- 29:58Speaker 1: football game because I said hey I I'd like to
- 30:00Speaker 1: take the guys over at least for one game this year.
- 30:04Speaker 1: And she said, okay, well, when do you want it
- 30:07Speaker 1: to be? I said, I don't know, maybe Tennessee. And
- 30:10Speaker 1: so then what she said back to me was, well,
- 30:13Speaker 1: you also got to pick a game for us to
- 30:15Speaker 1: go over because some of your people want to meet Billy.
- 30:18Speaker 1: And that's the closest that they can get up there
- 30:20Speaker 1: to that. And so the weather will actually be pretty good.
- 30:24Speaker 1: And I think if I make you guys go, it
- 30:25Speaker 1: should be a little colder.
- 30:27Speaker 6: Okay.
- 30:28Speaker 1: Okay.
- 30:29Speaker 3: That doesn't matter.
- 30:30Speaker 5: Yeah, that's fine.
- 30:31Speaker 1: We'll also be in a suite anyway for the most part.
- 30:33Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 30:34Speaker 2: Heating anyways.
- 30:35Speaker 1: So I wouldn't want to waste good weather if I
- 30:38Speaker 1: can get Billy and the baby and like any of
- 30:41Speaker 1: my family that wants to come up.
- 30:43Speaker 3: That's a good point.
- 30:43Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 30:44Speaker 5: The baby's way more important than we are.
- 30:45Speaker 3: For sure.
- 30:46Speaker 1: So I'm not sure about it yet, but I don't
- 30:49Speaker 1: even know that I'm going for sure to Tennessee. But
- 30:51Speaker 1: I mean, if we don't look terrible against Texas A & M,
- 30:56Speaker 1: I'll go for sure. If we look terrible, it's 50-50.
- 30:58Speaker 7: Okay.
- 31:00Speaker 5: They do play at Vanderbilt.
- 31:01Speaker 1: They play Texas A & M this week. The next week,
- 31:06Speaker 1: it's in Fayetteville, Tennessee. The next week, it's here versus Vanderbilt.
- 31:10Speaker 3: And you're going to that for sure, right? Yeah, right
- 31:12Speaker 3: down the road.
- 31:13Speaker 1: I would think so. I have plans to go. But
- 31:16Speaker 1: that's different because that's not my stadium. I don't have
- 31:18Speaker 1: the keys to the facility here. Where there, I can
- 31:21Speaker 1: just go, hey, I'm coming. And we'll just go and
- 31:24Speaker 1: sit in the suite or go on the sideline before
- 31:25Speaker 1: the game. Whatever we want to do. Here, we can't
- 31:27Speaker 1: do that. It's not our field.
- 31:28Speaker 3: Yeah, Coach Lee, though. Kind of give him a little ringer?
- 31:32Speaker 1: I'd have to go down on the Vanderbilt side, though.
- 31:33Speaker 5: I was going to say, maybe wear your hog stuff
- 31:36Speaker 5: over there.
- 31:37Speaker 1: If that were the case, I'd have to do that.
- 31:39Speaker 5: Then we got South Carolina and LSU and Fayetteville in November.
- 31:42Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:43Speaker 3: Dude, South Carolina sounds like a good one we can
- 31:45Speaker 3: go to.
- 31:45Speaker 5: Yeah, you know both coaches.
- 31:48Speaker 1: We make a win that one, too.
- 31:49Speaker 3: I know.
- 31:50Speaker 1: I don't know if we can win anything, man. We'll see.
- 31:52Speaker 1: I'm drinking the Kool-Aid a little bit. I did a
- 31:54Speaker 1: post on Twitter yesterday where I was saying, Hey, it's
- 31:56Speaker 1: okay to drink the Kool-Aid if you're a Razorback fan
- 31:58Speaker 1: because this may be the only Kool-Aid we get to drink.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Like if you're walking in the desert and you get
- 32:01Speaker 1: the only drink of water, you're going to have to
- 32:03Speaker 1: drink as much as you possibly can because you may
- 32:05Speaker 1: not get more water. And so I was kind of
- 32:07Speaker 1: living with that.
- 32:07Speaker 3: That's how I feel.
- 32:09Speaker 5: That's a good mindset.
- 32:11Speaker 1: It's a sad mindset.
- 32:12Speaker 5: Yeah, but at least you're.
- 32:13Speaker 3: Being a little bit of positive in that mindset. Yeah.
- 32:17Speaker 1: Colts and Commanders are the London game this week.
- 32:19Speaker 3: Oh, we have an early one. Okay.
- 32:21Speaker 1: Nice.
- 32:22Speaker 3: That's funny. Brandon, too, he thought the Rio one was
- 32:24Speaker 3: going to be early in the morning.
- 32:25Speaker 5: Yeah, it was like 7 in the morning.
- 32:27Speaker 6: I'm like, all right.
- 32:29Speaker 3: Turn on the TV.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Nothing. Yeah, so that'll be the early one. This week,
- 32:34Speaker 1: Cardinals and Giants. Nobody cares. Patriots and Bills. Unicorn game.
- 32:38Speaker 5: Yes.
- 32:38Speaker 3: That's right. Labeled as.
- 32:40Speaker 1: Yeah, that's noon. Jets and Bears. Nobody cares. Cowboys at Texans.
- 32:45Speaker 3: A few people care.
- 32:47Speaker 1: Texans have to win. Cowboys need to win.
- 32:49Speaker 3: Cowboys need to win.
- 32:51Speaker 1: That's an I quit match. Like, whoever loses that should
- 32:55Speaker 1: just quit and tank for a good quarterback next year.
- 32:59Speaker 1: I guess the Cowboys wouldn't tank for a quarterback.
- 33:00Speaker 4: We wouldn't.
- 33:01Speaker 3: No, no, because we're good with Dak for a little bit.
- 33:02Speaker 6: But.
- 33:03Speaker 1: Tank for a high pick.
- 33:04Speaker 3: Yeah, a high pick because.
- 33:06Speaker 5: For a defensive player.
- 33:07Speaker 3: Because we're giving so much.
- 33:08Speaker 1: But also with the Cowboys, they can lose this because
- 33:10Speaker 1: that entire division sucks so bad. Yeah, that's true. You
- 33:12Speaker 1: could probably still lose this one and still be in it.
- 33:14Speaker 3: I told you guys. Our division's wide open and the Eagles,
- 33:17Speaker 3: you guys are like, oh, you're going to lose. Dude,
- 33:20Speaker 3: we could honestly beat the Eagles this year.
- 33:22Speaker 1: Rams at Eagles. If the Eagles don't beat the Rams,
- 33:25Speaker 1: they quit.
- 33:26Speaker 3: They quit.
- 33:28Speaker 5: Everybody in the NFC East just quits.
- 33:31Speaker 1: The Packers at Bucks. I mean, that's a battle of
- 33:34Speaker 1: two terrible teams.
- 33:35Speaker 3: Yeah, and then is Baker out?
- 33:37Speaker 1: Yes, three weeks or so, right?
- 33:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Titans at Ravens. Terrible game. It's a terrible game.
- 33:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, that's a good one to bet.
- 33:48Speaker 1: Why the terrible games i don't like betting really.
- 33:50Speaker 3: Yeah i feel like the titans oh you feel like
- 33:53Speaker 3: titans gave us like a little glimmer of hope there
- 33:55Speaker 3: for a little bit you know like oh maybe they
- 33:58Speaker 3: offensively maybe they can do something and then they just
- 34:00Speaker 3: craft it again so i feel like that's a good
- 34:02Speaker 3: one like the ravens are gonna just demolish them.
- 34:05Speaker 5: Eric kenner of three touchdowns yeah oh.
- 34:07Speaker 1: Yeah uh jags bangles that's a good one that's a
- 34:10Speaker 1: good that might be the game of the week so
- 34:11Speaker 1: far yeah Dolphins at Vikings. Chiefs at Raiders is only
- 34:17Speaker 1: fun because the Raiders are 3-0.
- 34:19Speaker 3: And the Chiefs, right? They're two 3-0 teams playing.
- 34:23Speaker 1: Yeah, but we expect that from the Chiefs. Usually that
- 34:26Speaker 1: would be a terrible game. We don't care. It's in
- 34:29Speaker 1: the division. The Raiders should suck, but they don't. So
- 34:35Speaker 1: that will be fun because they're possibly okay. Chargers at Seahawks.
- 34:40Speaker 3: Bad game.
- 34:42Speaker 1: Broncos at 49ers, that may be the game of the week.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Then Lions at Panthers, not the game of the week.
- 34:47Speaker 1: Falcons at Saints, not the game of the week. So
- 34:49Speaker 1: I think we're looking at Broncos at Niners. I'm going
- 34:53Speaker 1: to put Chiefs and Raiders in there only because it'd
- 34:56Speaker 1: be rude not to.
- 34:57Speaker 3: You don't want to be rude.
- 34:58Speaker 1: It's two undefeated teams. I don't want to be rude.
- 35:01Speaker 1: Jags at Bengals. I can't put the Cowboys and Texans, dude.
- 35:07Speaker 3: No, it's okay. I don't think America's watching that game anyway.
- 35:11Speaker 1: America's watching when the Cowboys play.
- 35:12Speaker 3: Cowboys. At noon, though, I feel like a noon game,
- 35:15Speaker 3: you might need a Sunday ticket for that game, honestly,
- 35:19Speaker 3: if you don't live in Texas.
- 35:21Speaker 1: No chance.
- 35:22Speaker 3: Really?
- 35:23Speaker 1: Cowboys are always a national game, right?
- 35:24Speaker 3: Not always. That's why I got Sunday ticket, because there
- 35:27Speaker 3: are like three games that are not going to be national.
- 35:29Speaker 1: So the noon game of the week is the Jags
- 35:31Speaker 1: at Bengals. The 325 game of the week is going
- 35:34Speaker 1: to be the Broncos and 49ers. Nice. And then the
- 35:37Speaker 1: Monday night game, it's the Falcons again. Wow.
- 35:41Speaker 5: I like it in all these primetime games.
- 35:44Speaker 7: Wow.
- 35:44Speaker 1: They have eight quarterbacks.
- 35:47Speaker 3: You let them do that.
- 35:49Speaker 1: They might be decent, though, with Pennix. They actually played
- 35:51Speaker 1: pretty well last week. They're playing the Saints.
- 35:53Speaker 5: We'll get hit.
- 35:54Speaker 1: So football season's heating up, and every week feels bigger
- 35:56Speaker 1: with DraftKings. The DraftKings sports app is now live in
- 36:00Speaker 1: all 50 states. That means from Texas to California to Florida,
- 36:03Speaker 1: every fan is in on the excitement. The big games
- 36:06Speaker 1: this weekend in college, No. 7 Alabama at No. 16
- 36:10Speaker 1: Mississippi State. That's going to be a fun game because
- 36:12Speaker 1: we're going to see just how good Mississippi State is.
- 36:16Speaker 1: They shouldn't be good, but they have a really great quarterback.
- 36:19Speaker 1: What's funny, too, is in the press conferences, and they
- 36:21Speaker 1: shouldn't do this, but they've asked him, hey, where do
- 36:23Speaker 1: you think you're going next year? And he went to
- 36:26Speaker 1: Mississippi State for a reason. He's a diehard Mississippi State fan.
- 36:29Speaker 1: And so I kind of hate that for him. Yeah.
- 36:33Speaker 1: I would like to see Mississippi State win that game.
- 36:34Speaker 5: Me too.
- 36:36Speaker 1: They're a poverty program like Arkansas, so I'm kind of rooting.
- 36:39Speaker 4: Poverty.
- 36:40Speaker 3: Kind of rooting for them to do their thing. What's
- 36:41Speaker 3: it like in there with all those cowbells?
- 36:44Speaker 1: I've never been to Starkville.
- 36:46Speaker 3: Oh, you've never been?
- 36:47Speaker 1: No. I've been to Arkansas to watch us play Mississippi State.
- 36:50Speaker 1: I've never been to Starkville.
- 36:51Speaker 3: Because they don't stop, right? They ring them the entire game.
- 36:53Speaker 1: They do. They set a world record recently with those.
- 36:56Speaker 1: 41,819 cowbells for the game last Saturday against.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Dang.
- 37:03Speaker 3: I guess that's why I asked, because that's the game
- 37:05Speaker 3: I saw, and I'm like, God, that seems annoying to
- 37:07Speaker 3: play against.
- 37:07Speaker 1: Well, they tried to set the record that game, so
- 37:09Speaker 1: they all brought them. They had over 50 trained volunteers
- 37:12Speaker 1: to count, and they did win that game. But yeah,
- 37:15Speaker 1: that's the cowbell-ringing world record. Wow. 41,000. They act like, too,
- 37:20Speaker 1: you're not supposed to bring them in.
- 37:22Speaker 3: Oh, like they're smuggling them in there?
- 37:23Speaker 1: Have you seen that meme where the guy working at
- 37:25Speaker 1: the airport is supposed to be checking people, and he's
- 37:27Speaker 1: just going.
- 37:28Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 37:29Speaker 1: He's not really even patting them down. He's not even
- 37:31Speaker 1: looking at them. It's got to be what that is
- 37:33Speaker 1: with that. So Ohio State and Iowa is, in theory,
- 37:38Speaker 1: supposed to be good. I do feel like Ohio State
- 37:40Speaker 1: will crush them. I would like for Iowa to win
- 37:42Speaker 1: that game. Florida and Missouri, although Missouri just losing to
- 37:46Speaker 1: Mississippi State, kind of almost who cares. The thing about Missouri,
- 37:51Speaker 1: and I like their coach, They don't beat top 25 teams.
- 37:54Speaker 1: I don't think they have. Maybe not even once in
- 37:57Speaker 1: the past five years. They get ranked. They beat the
- 37:59Speaker 1: teams that aren't. But they never beat the top 25 teams.
- 38:03Speaker 1: BYU at TCU and Miami at Clemson. We keep Clemson
- 38:07Speaker 1: to lose.
- 38:07Speaker 5: Keeps happening.
- 38:09Speaker 3: And they keep losing.
- 38:11Speaker 1: And they keep losing. One app every sport. All 50 states.

- 39:05Speaker 2: Varies by state.
- 39:12Speaker 1: Okay, so here's what we're going to do. We're going
- 39:14Speaker 1: to walk out. I mean, we could record the game, Mike.
- 39:20Speaker 1: Do you want to do that? In the audio? You
- 39:21Speaker 1: want to do it with the phone?
- 39:22Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 39:23Speaker 3: I'll do it with this. What was that, a camera?
- 39:28Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 39:28Speaker 3: Camera.
- 39:29Speaker 5: He's got the mic on there already.
- 39:30Speaker 2: He's ready.
- 39:30Speaker 5: I got it.
- 39:31Speaker 1: With the audio? Yeah, let's do it. Okay, you guys
- 39:33Speaker 1: go and set up. Start setting up. Now I'm going
- 39:36Speaker 1: to explain what's going to happen here.
- 39:37Speaker 3: I'm going to leave the camera on you, okay?
- 39:38Speaker 1: Okay, you're good. Get loose.
- 39:40Speaker 6: No warm-ups.
- 39:42Speaker 3: Relax, man.
- 39:43Speaker 2: Yeah, no warm-ups.
- 39:43Speaker 1: Better watch him.
- 39:44Speaker 5: Yeah, I am.
- 39:45Speaker 1: Okay, so Eddie and Kevin are going out to play
- 39:48Speaker 1: for $ 100, as you heard earlier. I think there are
- 39:51Speaker 1: six little balls that come out of this machine. And
- 39:55Speaker 1: the rule two is if you don't get to 40
- 39:57Speaker 1: within the first 30 seconds, you don't even go to
- 40:00Speaker 1: bonus time. You got to get to 40 points within
- 40:03Speaker 1: the first 30 seconds. If you don't get to 40,
- 40:05Speaker 1: you're done. But if you do get to 40, you
- 40:07Speaker 1: go for another 15 seconds. So that's all you need
- 40:10Speaker 1: to know. I'll be commentating it as we go. And
- 40:12Speaker 1: so we're going to go now and you'll hear the
- 40:15Speaker 1: actual contest and then we'll talk about it after.
- 40:17Speaker 3: All right, here we go.
- 40:18Speaker 1: We're going to play standard. Kevin goes first. First kickoff, Kevin.
- 40:24Speaker 6: Good luck, Kevin.
- 40:25Speaker 5: Here we go.
- 40:26Speaker 1: Three seconds, two seconds, one second, and go. All right,
- 40:30Speaker 1: here goes Kevin. He's one for three. A little bank
- 40:34Speaker 1: shot there. He's at six points right now. He's at 10.
- 40:40Speaker 1: He's at 12 with 29 seconds left. Now, if you're watching,
- 40:44Speaker 1: you're wondering why I'm talking so much. This is also
- 40:46Speaker 1: being recorded for the podcast. This is why. Kevin's going
- 40:50Speaker 1: right hand only. He's got 26 points with 15 seconds left.
- 40:57Speaker 1: He's got to hit 40 to get the bonus. He's
- 41:00Speaker 1: not going to hit 40.
- 41:03Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 41:03Speaker 1: Come on. Oh, he may come on. He needs another one.
- 41:05Speaker 1: He needs one more to hit 40. He needs one more.
- 41:08Speaker 1: He got it. He got it. He's in the bonus
- 41:09Speaker 1: with 45. All right. Bonus time. 14 seconds left.
- 41:14Speaker 3: All right.
- 41:15Speaker 1: He's at 50 points. He's at 56 points. Oh, my God.
- 41:19Speaker 3: He's at 59.
- 41:20Speaker 1: He's at 62 with three seconds left. 65, 68. That's
- 41:25Speaker 1: a solid 68. That's really good, dude.
- 41:29Speaker 2: Hold on.
- 41:29Speaker 1: How do you feel?
- 41:30Speaker 5: Got a little nervous during it, but you know what? Overall, 68.
- 41:33Speaker 5: I'll take it.
- 41:34Speaker 1: All right.
- 41:35Speaker 3: 68 is solid.
- 41:36Speaker 1: Now, Eddie, you just watched him play.
- 41:37Speaker 5: What are your thoughts?
- 41:38Speaker 3: I mean, that was really good. I expected him not
- 41:39Speaker 3: to hit the bonus. I thought I was working with
- 41:41Speaker 3: going against maybe a 42. 68 is going to be tough.
- 41:45Speaker 1: All right.
- 41:45Speaker 4: Here he goes.
- 41:45Speaker 1: Eddie, for 100 bucks, 68 points. Rarely do you see
- 41:51Speaker 1: this guy turn his hat around backward. He means business
- 41:53Speaker 1: right now.
- 41:58Speaker 3: Here we go.
- 42:01Speaker 1: And he throws one up for good luck and makes it.
- 42:05Speaker 1: He's in for two, for four. He's at four, six.
- 42:13Speaker 1: He's still at six points. He's missed four in a row.
- 42:14Speaker 1: He's back in. Eight, ten points with 28 seconds left.
- 42:17Speaker 4: Twelve.
- 42:18Speaker 7: Twelve.
- 42:21Speaker 1: His flip is pretty quick. He's getting the balls out
- 42:23Speaker 1: of there pretty quick. He's got 18 points with 17
- 42:28Speaker 1: seconds left. He's at 20. He's got to move, though.
- 42:32Speaker 1: He's at 24 with 10 seconds left.
- 42:34Speaker 5: 26.
- 42:35Speaker 1: He's got to make some threes or he's not going
- 42:36Speaker 1: to make it. He's at 7 seconds. Six seconds. 32, 35, 3, 2.
- 42:40Speaker 1: He didn't make it. He didn't make it. He didn't
- 42:44Speaker 1: make it.
- 42:45Speaker 5: Oh, my God.
- 42:46Speaker 1: Oh, my God. Oh, my God.
- 42:50Speaker 5: Oh, my God.
- 42:52Speaker 1: He didn't even make the bonus round.
- 42:57Speaker 3: I got nothing now. Got nothing. I let myself down.
- 43:02Speaker 3: Now I owe Kevin $ 100. After calling me out.
- 43:06Speaker 5: After calling me out.
- 43:07Speaker 3: I'm an idiot.
- 43:09Speaker 7: Wow.
- 43:09Speaker 1: I've never seen you not make the bonus round.
- 43:12Speaker 3: I know. I mean, I went cold.
- 43:14Speaker 6: He went cold, too. I get it.
- 43:16Speaker 3: They weren't falling for me. You know, a pop of
- 43:18Speaker 3: shot's a game of just the ball falling through the hoop,
- 43:20Speaker 3: and it just wasn't falling for me.
- 43:22Speaker 1: I've never seen you not make the bonus. Would you
- 43:24Speaker 1: say some of that, though, is because you have a
- 43:25Speaker 1: tendency to not perform whenever the pressure's on. Would you
- 43:28Speaker 1: say that was that?
- 43:28Speaker 3: No, no. It's just not my day. Not my day.
- 43:31Speaker 6: We all have those.
- 43:32Speaker 3: Good days, bad days. Today was a bad day.
- 43:34Speaker 1: Are you disgusted with yourself?
- 43:35Speaker 3: Yes, dude. I want to get out of here. Get
- 43:36Speaker 3: that camera out of my face.
- 43:39Speaker 1: All right.
- 43:39Speaker 3: You're the winner.
- 43:40Speaker 1: How do you feel right now?
- 43:40Speaker 5: Man, I feel great. I can't wait to tell my
- 43:42Speaker 5: parents about this, my wife about this, my kids. I
- 43:45Speaker 5: don't think they've been more proud of their dad, honestly.
- 43:48Speaker 1: And this is all on camera.
- 43:49Speaker 5: I know. And mind you, he challenged me.
- 43:53Speaker 1: He said you were so unathletic.
- 43:55Speaker 5: He said I was unathletic. I couldn't play pop a shot.
- 43:58Speaker 5: And he couldn't even make the bonus round.
- 43:59Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 43:59Speaker 5: $ 100 was his idea.
- 44:03Speaker 1: And the $ 100. He could have said $ 5.
- 44:05Speaker 5: Exactly, and I would have taken it. But he started
- 44:07Speaker 5: with $ 100. He was so confident. And then he couldn't
- 44:09Speaker 5: even make the bonus round.
- 44:10Speaker 3: Wow, there we have it.
- 44:11Speaker 1: What a game. What a game indeed. I've seen it all, folks,
- 44:15Speaker 1: from the Papa Shot here at the studio. That's Bobby
- 44:18Speaker 1: going back to our podcast now. All right, back in.
- 44:26Speaker 1: You just heard what happened. You heard the post-game interviews.
- 44:29Speaker 1: Eddie's pissed.
- 44:30Speaker 5: It's all quiet over there.
- 44:31Speaker 3: What's your Venmo, Kevin?
- 44:32Speaker 5: Oh, you know my Venmo.
- 44:36Speaker 1: Are you so shocked?
- 44:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:37Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 44:38Speaker 3: I didn't expect it going that way at all.
- 44:41Speaker 1: He put up a good number. He did.
- 44:42Speaker 3: He really did. He went from almost missing the bonus
- 44:46Speaker 3: to just nailing three in a row to get to
- 44:48Speaker 3: the bonus.
- 44:48Speaker 1: And you missed the bonus.
- 44:49Speaker 4: I did.
- 44:49Speaker 3: I couldn't get there. It's one of these things, man,
- 44:51Speaker 3: where you fall behind and then you look at the clock.
- 44:53Speaker 3: I make the mistake of looking at the clock. And
- 44:56Speaker 3: then when I start looking at the clock, I know
- 44:58Speaker 3: I only have 10 seconds or 5 seconds, and I
- 45:01Speaker 3: just freak out.
- 45:02Speaker 1: Does that $ 100 hurt?
- 45:04Speaker 3: It hurts in the way that I'm just going to
- 45:05Speaker 3: have to not make so many bets this weekend.
- 45:08Speaker 5: Are you going to make any this weekend?
- 45:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 45:11Speaker 5: Are you sure?
- 45:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll do my dollar parlays, but I can't do
- 45:15Speaker 3: the big live bets that I like to do.
- 45:16Speaker 5: I need to know. I'm with you. I bet $ 3,
- 45:20Speaker 5: $ 5 here and there. What made you go to $ 100 immediately?
- 45:23Speaker 3: Confidence, dude. I've been playing this game every day until
- 45:25Speaker 3: like 3 o'clock.
- 45:27Speaker 1: Every day.
- 45:27Speaker 3: Dang.
- 45:29Speaker 5: And I play like maybe once a day.
- 45:31Speaker 1: So that would mean you're more of an athlete. You
- 45:32Speaker 1: should get him to sign this sheet because he wrote in,
- 45:35Speaker 1: Kevin always comes on here and talks about how good
- 45:37Speaker 1: of an athlete he was in high school. I saw
- 45:39Speaker 1: him play pop shot and he's terrible. He blamed it
- 45:41Speaker 1: all on his injuries. Kevin is a fraud.
- 45:43Speaker 3: A fraud?
- 45:45Speaker 2: You call me a fraud?
- 45:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:48Speaker 5: Can I get you to sign that and put $ 100
- 45:50Speaker 5: right next to it?
- 45:51Speaker 3: Sounds about right.
- 45:53Speaker 5: Pin it there.
- 45:54Speaker 1: Other things. Did you see the pointing fever fan? Oh, yeah.
- 46:00Speaker 3: That's so dumb.
- 46:01Speaker 7: Oh, yeah.
- 46:02Speaker 1: So, if you didn't see the game, it was the
- 46:06Speaker 1: fever and... Who does Asia play for?
- 46:10Speaker 3: I think it was Vegas. Did she play for Vegas?
- 46:13Speaker 1: Vegas.
- 46:13Speaker 3: Aces, I believe. Yes. Okay.
- 46:16Speaker 1: So, the fan was pointing and Asia... What's her last name?
- 46:23Speaker 3: Wilson?
- 46:24Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right. She's the best player in the WNBA. Like,
- 46:27Speaker 1: no doubt about it. She goes into the stands because
- 46:29Speaker 1: she's like the guy pointing at me. I feel like
- 46:32Speaker 1: that's what every fan does to every player on the
- 46:35Speaker 1: opposite team during every game.
- 46:37Speaker 5: Yes.
- 46:39Speaker 1: And so they, for a second, kick him out of
- 46:41Speaker 1: his seat, but then they put him back in and
- 46:42Speaker 1: they go, he didn't do anything wrong. Yeah. And then
- 46:44Speaker 1: the press conferences are going, no, you can't point at me.
- 46:47Speaker 3: It's a fan.
- 46:48Speaker 1: Fans do point and say stupid stuff the whole game.
- 46:51Speaker 1: And if it's so bad, they get kicked out.
- 46:53Speaker 5: Yeah, not even like flipping her off, like just pointing.
- 46:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:56Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 46:56Speaker 3: And he said, like people were sitting around him, said
- 47:00Speaker 3: that all he said was, that was on her. That
- 47:03Speaker 3: was on her.
- 47:04Speaker 1: And once it became a big story, we started to
- 47:06Speaker 1: see other viewpoints, like from the backside. And you see
- 47:10Speaker 1: him as clear as day do what he did, which
- 47:13Speaker 1: was nothing.
- 47:14Speaker 3: Nothing.
- 47:15Speaker 1: Nothing that a fan of an opposing team wouldn't do
- 47:18Speaker 1: to every opposing player. That was wild to me.
- 47:22Speaker 5: The funny part, too, in the video from the opposite
- 47:24Speaker 5: end of the court, you could see his wife grab him,
- 47:26Speaker 5: get back down here.
- 47:27Speaker 3: And he did. He got down real quick.
- 47:30Speaker 1: The WNBA needed new leadership. They will get it. It's
- 47:35Speaker 1: so messy all the time that you can't even focus
- 47:38Speaker 1: on the basketball. Or you can't even focus on the stars.
- 47:42Speaker 1: That's going to be a league where you have to
- 47:43Speaker 1: focus on the stars because the basketball ain't that good.
- 47:46Speaker 1: It's fine. Man, when they shoot air balls.
- 47:48Speaker 3: They're bad.
- 47:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 47:50Speaker 3: Or they miss layups. Yeah, either that.
- 47:52Speaker 1: So we're not saying, but you have stars, like really
- 47:56Speaker 1: marketable stars. You can't even focus on them right now
- 48:00Speaker 1: because if it's not politics, it's culture, it's people pointing,
- 48:05Speaker 1: it's everything except being able to put it on the stars.
- 48:10Speaker 5: Yeah, and that's a star of their league. Asia Wilson.
- 48:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 48:14Speaker 1: She's the best player in the WNBA. She's not. the
- 48:17Speaker 1: most famous player in the WNBA. She was playing against
- 48:19Speaker 1: her that night.
- 48:20Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 48:21Speaker 1: Caitlin Clark. So that's crazy. I wrote that as a note.
- 48:24Speaker 5: Yeah, that was embarrassing.
- 48:26Speaker 1: Another note that I have is it looks like they're
- 48:29Speaker 1: going to go to the 2014 college playoff. And I've
- 48:31Speaker 1: often said, hey, more games.
- 48:32Speaker 4: Good.
- 48:32Speaker 1: I just want more games. It doesn't matter. I think
- 48:34Speaker 1: 24 is too much. I think 12 to 16 is good.
- 48:37Speaker 1: We stop at 16. You got the whole top 25
- 48:40Speaker 1: getting in there basically into the playoff. I'm not going
- 48:43Speaker 1: to be mad at it because I do just like,
- 48:46Speaker 1: give me more games that matter. And I like it
- 48:50Speaker 1: that teams aren't out with one loss in the season.
- 48:52Speaker 1: I think that makes a season more fun for more
- 48:54Speaker 1: fan bases longer. I never liked it where if you
- 48:58Speaker 1: lose once early, you're probably out of it. That if
- 49:01Speaker 1: you lost once and you weren't a top 10 preseason team,
- 49:04Speaker 1: you were out. If you were a top 10 preseason
- 49:06Speaker 1: team and you lost once, you still had a chance
- 49:07Speaker 1: to get back in because you ain't going to fall
- 49:08Speaker 1: that far. Like that was always annoying. So I do
- 49:11Speaker 1: like it that you can lose once, maybe even twice,
- 49:15Speaker 1: but we have to get rid of the conference championship
- 49:17Speaker 1: games because why would you want to play in that
- 49:18Speaker 1: and have another loss on your record? and possibly not
- 49:20Speaker 1: be able to make the playoff?
- 49:21Speaker 7: Right.
- 49:22Speaker 1: I love more. 24 is too much.
- 49:28Speaker 5: That's a lot.
- 49:30Speaker 1: 16, I'm okay with expanding it to that. And because
- 49:33Speaker 1: they care what I think, we're in a perfect position.
- 49:35Speaker 5: We can send them this video.
- 49:36Speaker 3: Yeah, definitely change their minds.
- 49:39Speaker 1: Just kind of looking ahead. Obviously, Arkansas, Texas A & M,
- 49:43Speaker 1: we're a 14-point underdog there. Tonight, which is Thursday, the
- 49:46Speaker 1: Steelers are the Browns. The Steelers are the favorite, 2.5 points.
- 49:50Speaker 3: Those are both of our loser teams in our skins, huh?
- 49:52Speaker 1: Playing each other, yeah.
- 49:53Speaker 5: How's the skins going?
- 49:55Speaker 1: Right now, not great.
- 49:56Speaker 7: Okay.
- 49:58Speaker 1: You probably knew that.
- 49:59Speaker 5: That's why you're smiling.
- 50:01Speaker 3: I'm not smiling.
- 50:02Speaker 5: I'm smiling because I just beat you for $ 100. I'm
- 50:05Speaker 5: not smiling because you guys are losing money. Great athlete
- 50:09Speaker 5: and a jerk.
- 50:09Speaker 3: That's kind of rude.
- 50:10Speaker 1: Right now, not great.
- 50:12Speaker 5: No, I want you guys to win, man.
- 50:14Speaker 1: I just saw that too, Eddie.
- 50:16Speaker 5: I want you guys to win.
- 50:17Speaker 3: You got a little smirk on your face.
- 50:19Speaker 1: I just saw that too.
- 50:20Speaker 5: Eddie's just mad at me.
- 50:21Speaker 1: Pizzeria in Vegas has gone viral on social media for
- 50:24Speaker 1: serving a $ 50 pizza-wrapped cheesesteak. That feeds four people. It's
- 50:29Speaker 1: a Lucia Knows Pizza. It's a full cheese pizza tightly
- 50:33Speaker 1: wrapped around an entire Philly cheesesteak sandwich served alongside cheese
- 50:37Speaker 1: and salsa dipping sauces. A clip featuring the huge mashup
- 50:41Speaker 1: racked millions of views. I feel like you're begging. Heart attack,
- 50:46Speaker 1: creep on in.
- 50:47Speaker 3: For sure.
- 50:48Speaker 1: Especially if you're like a big fat adult dude. That's
- 50:51Speaker 1: probably all who's going to order that too.
- 50:52Speaker 5: For sure.
- 50:53Speaker 1: Like a big fat adult dude.
- 50:54Speaker 2: Yes.
- 50:56Speaker 3: So what's the problem that it's just 50 bucks? It's
- 50:58Speaker 3: too expensive? Or just how weird that is?
- 51:00Speaker 1: It's not a problem. It's what's in it.
- 51:02Speaker 3: Yeah, that's gross. That doesn't even sound good.
- 51:07Speaker 1: I like cheesesteaks. I don't like the cheese. I can't
- 51:09Speaker 1: eat the cheese. I don't like all the onions in.
- 51:11Speaker 4: It, though.
- 51:11Speaker 3: Before you had your cheese thing.
- 51:14Speaker 1: I love cheesesteaks with cheese.
- 51:15Speaker 3: What was your pizza order?
- 51:18Speaker 1: Pepperoni.
- 51:18Speaker 3: Just pepperoni?
- 51:19Speaker 1: Thin crust pepperoni with cheese.
- 51:20Speaker 3: That's it.
- 51:21Speaker 1: And nothing more. Anything else? It complicates it. It pollutes it.
- 51:24Speaker 1: Just give me. occasionally I'll do pepperoni with pepperoncini peppers.
- 51:30Speaker 1: Oh yeah. And I hate peppers, but I love pepperoncini peppers,
- 51:32Speaker 1: but pepperoni pepperoncini peppers. What I order now is it's
- 51:36Speaker 1: gotta be vegan cheese because of my issues, but I
- 51:39Speaker 1: order pepperoni with vegan cheese and hot honey.
- 51:42Speaker 3: Hot honey.
- 51:43Speaker 1: I never even knew honey worked on a pizza until
- 51:46Speaker 1: I started having honey on a pizza. It's amazing.
- 51:48Speaker 5: I have had that hot honey, not myself, but I've,
- 51:51Speaker 5: I've ordered it and it is really good.
- 51:52Speaker 3: It's amazing.
- 51:52Speaker 6: Really good.
- 51:54Speaker 1: Pizza man. You ever had, Honey on your pizza?
- 51:55Speaker 3: Never.
- 51:56Speaker 5: No.
- 51:57Speaker 3: In Nashville, they do the Nashville hot chicken pizza, which
- 52:00Speaker 3: is so good. It's like fried chicken on your pizza.
- 52:04Speaker 3: Hot chicken.
- 52:06Speaker 1: I'm sure it's fine.
- 52:07Speaker 3: So good.
- 52:08Speaker 1: Eddie, Brian Schottenheimer is 8-11-1 in Dallas. Should the Cowboys
- 52:12Speaker 1: move on?
- 52:15Speaker 3: Let's just see how the season plays out. But, I mean,
- 52:18Speaker 3: you need time to build a team. Here's my problem
- 52:21Speaker 3: with Brian Schottenheimer. When I watched that Cowboys documentary— with Jared,
- 52:26Speaker 3: with Jimmy Johnson, his environment that he created with the Cowboys,
- 52:33Speaker 3: a Superbowl winning team was like, they hated him. He
- 52:37Speaker 3: would make him do stuff. That was crazy. Like the, the,
- 52:40Speaker 3: the workouts were nuts. Like they couldn't go do things
- 52:44Speaker 3: outside of the, the, the, the team and practice. And like,
- 52:48Speaker 3: he had this like fear in the player, like in
- 52:50Speaker 3: the players, they feared him. Brian Schottenheimer, there's no fear.
- 52:54Speaker 3: It's just like a buddy playing for a buddy.
- 52:56Speaker 1: You're not going to get that in today's National Football
- 53:00Speaker 1: League landscape with players making as much money as they are.
- 53:03Speaker 1: There are no coaches that make every guy fearful.
- 53:06Speaker 3: You look at Sirianni, right? He looks a little scary.
- 53:10Speaker 3: Like Sirianni could be a psycho killer sometimes. His eyes
- 53:14Speaker 3: are all bloodshot and he's just like, don't piss him off.
- 53:16Speaker 3: This guy could kill you at any moment. Schottenheimer, he's like, oh,
- 53:19Speaker 3: you fumbled three times? Give me a hug. We're okay.
- 53:22Speaker 3: I don't like that.
- 53:22Speaker 1: Okay, you can be too much of a player's coach,
- 53:24Speaker 1: but you can't compare the 90s when there was no
- 53:27Speaker 1: social media and players weren't making the money they're making
- 53:30Speaker 1: now to today.
- 53:32Speaker 3: I just think he's too, like you said, a player's coach.
- 53:34Speaker 3: He's too happy and he's too fine with the way
- 53:37Speaker 3: everything turns out.
- 53:39Speaker 1: You don't know that he's fine with it.
- 53:40Speaker 3: Yeah, because I watch the clips afterwards. He's like, not
- 53:42Speaker 3: a good game, guys, but that's all right.
- 53:44Speaker 1: That's fine.
- 53:44Speaker 3: That's all right. We're fine with it. It's just I
- 53:46Speaker 3: don't like it.
- 53:47Speaker 1: I hate it after they lose and he goes, we're
- 53:48Speaker 1: fine with it.
- 53:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 53:49Speaker 1: That really ticks me off, too.
- 53:50Speaker 5: Better than Jason Garrett, though.
- 53:52Speaker 3: Oh, Jason Garrett.
- 53:52Speaker 5: He was the worst players, like the clapping.
- 53:55Speaker 3: The clapping, yeah.
- 53:56Speaker 5: Classic Jason.
- 53:58Speaker 1: You didn't say that to him when he was on
- 53:59Speaker 1: the show?
- 53:59Speaker 3: No, I sure didn't. I was even scared when I said,
- 54:01Speaker 3: why did you go to the Giants? All right, that's it.
- 54:07Speaker 1: What a day. What a game.
- 54:08Speaker 3: What a day.
- 54:08Speaker 5: What a day.
- 54:09Speaker 1: Did you already Venmo him?
- 54:11Speaker 4: No.
- 54:11Speaker 3: Not yet. I don't have his Venmo.
- 54:12Speaker 5: I sent it to you.
- 54:13Speaker 1: Would you double or nothing him? Oh, God.
- 54:15Speaker 5: I was just about to ask that.
- 54:16Speaker 6: No.
- 54:16Speaker 5: I thought about it.
- 54:17Speaker 1: It's not on the show. I'm just saying, would you double? Eddie,
- 54:20Speaker 1: first of all, would you double or nothing?
- 54:21Speaker 3: I'd think about it.
- 54:23Speaker 1: No, I'm asking, would you right now?
- 54:24Speaker 3: Like, if I had to answer right now? Yeah.
- 54:26Speaker 7: No.
- 54:26Speaker 3: Because it just stings too bad right now.
- 54:28Speaker 1: Wow, you are not confident then.
- 54:29Speaker 3: Well, not after that. Dude, I swear I thought I
- 54:34Speaker 3: had a chance. When he wasn't going to make that bonus,
- 54:36Speaker 3: I'm like, we're in. And then I just got deflated
- 54:39Speaker 3: when he made that bonus.
- 54:40Speaker 1: Your reputation, though, is the guy that crumbles.
- 54:43Speaker 3: No, it's not.
- 54:44Speaker 1: Not the guy that's not good, but the guy that
- 54:46Speaker 1: when it actually matters, the cookie crumbles.
- 54:49Speaker 3: When the lights come on?
- 54:50Speaker 5: Do you wish you would have gone first?
- 54:52Speaker 3: Nah, it didn't matter.
- 54:53Speaker 1: You don't want to put the pressure to him?
- 54:54Speaker 3: It didn't matter, man. My wrist just wasn't feeling it.
- 54:57Speaker 3: My shot was off.
- 54:58Speaker 5: You have a good flick to the wrist.
- 54:59Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 55:00Speaker 1: Yeah, no, you look good.
- 55:01Speaker 5: But it just doesn't go in.
- 55:02Speaker 1: You look better.
- 55:03Speaker 3: It just doesn't go in.
