- 0:01Speaker 1: And if you'll seek truth before you seek change, you're
- 0:04Speaker 1: not going to be manipulated. But those who are saying
- 0:06Speaker 1: it's and it can come from a good heart, can
- 0:09Speaker 1: come from a good place like man, I'm just sick
- 0:11Speaker 1: and tired, and this is what a lot of people say.
- 0:12Speaker 1: You got to get to the I'm sick and tired
- 0:14Speaker 1: of If you want things to change, and things will change,
- 0:17Speaker 1: but they won't necessarily change for the better, You've got
- 0:20Speaker 1: to decide. I want the truth more than I want
- 0:22Speaker 1: the change. But if you are someone who says I'll
- 0:24Speaker 1: do whatever it takes a change, I just want to change,
- 0:26Speaker 1: and you want that more than the truth, you're setting
- 0:28Speaker 1: yourself up to be manipulated. That's so impossible.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Let me tell you what I believe.
- 0:33Speaker 1: It's your weakness. It is not your technique. Don't think
- 0:39Speaker 1: you know.
- 0:41Speaker 2: You the Impossible Life Podcast and you're sitting on a
- 0:45Speaker 2: winning lot of.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Second an idea that is fully formed, fully understood, that sticks.
- 0:53Speaker 1: This is the Impossible Life Podcast because Nick and I
- 0:57Speaker 1: are attempting to live impossible lives. What we know is
- 1:01Speaker 1: that nothing is impossible. So instead of using impossible as
- 1:05Speaker 1: an excuse to not try, we'll use the pursuit of
- 1:08Speaker 1: impossible as an accelerant for greatness. If something's never been
- 1:12Speaker 1: done before, that just means it's unexplored. If they tell
- 1:16Speaker 1: you it's too hard, it's just waiting to be simplified.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Impossible as a default label used by uncourageous people unwilling
- 1:25Speaker 1: to take a risk. The real truth is this. The
- 1:29Speaker 1: solution to any impossible task starts with this question, if
- 1:34Speaker 1: I had to, what would it take? Would it take?
- 1:41Speaker 2: Welcome to another episode of the Impossible Life podcast. I'm
- 1:43Speaker 2: your co host, Nick Surface, and I'm looking across at
- 1:45Speaker 2: a man who, in high school was voted least likely
- 1:47Speaker 2: to be manipulated. That's right, friends, the fore Garrett uncle
- 1:54Speaker 2: Back the only man to ever graduate Seer School with honors.
- 2:00Speaker 2: That's a good I thought, I thought the last little question.
- 2:03Speaker 1: That you got me on that one.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Hey, hey, I one for those that don't know what
- 2:07Speaker 2: your school is g what is your school?
- 2:09Speaker 1: Your school is a training program that most people, if
- 2:14Speaker 1: you deployed, you went through here. Uh, survive, evade, resist,
- 2:20Speaker 1: and escape is the acronym force here. I had to
- 2:22Speaker 1: think about that for a second. Haven't answered that?
- 2:25Speaker 2: If you remember that off the top of your head.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Yeah, well they I will say the training does a
- 2:29Speaker 1: good job of making sure you don't forget what this is.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Okay for it has been a minute though, but everyone
- 2:36Speaker 1: who deploys went through some version of ser Pilots go
- 2:40Speaker 1: through a more advanced version of SEER, and then Special
- 2:42Speaker 1: Operations just runs their own program and it's it's intense. Well,
- 2:47Speaker 1: it's one of the it's one of the areas of
- 2:50Speaker 1: military training where there's they are intentionally secretive about what
- 2:54Speaker 1: happens there, Like they don't even want you to know
- 2:57Speaker 1: as a student what you're getting into. Like you can
- 2:59Speaker 1: learn a lot about like, hey, what's going to happen
- 3:01Speaker 1: to me in buds beyond what's on the Internet and
- 3:04Speaker 1: things like that, and series of training program that they
- 3:07Speaker 1: really try to keep in a box. It is intense,
- 3:09Speaker 1: but also it just adds to the mystique and the
- 3:12Speaker 1: scariness of it because you don't know what's gonna happen
- 3:14Speaker 1: to you.
- 3:14Speaker 2: One of the stories speaking a box that I've heard
- 3:16Speaker 2: about SEER School is that they put you in a
- 3:18Speaker 2: box that's too short for you and they just shut
- 3:20Speaker 2: you in there for an undisclosed amount of time.
- 3:23Speaker 1: You can't sit down but you can't stand up.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Right and and so like that doesn't sound that complex,
- 3:28Speaker 2: but think about how that would start to grind on you.
- 3:31Speaker 2: And they play like noises of babies crying and just
- 3:34Speaker 2: like they try and mess with you.
- 3:35Speaker 1: I remember I ask it's just one of the phases too,
- 3:37Speaker 1: that's that is the when you've been captured face right right.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Yeah, because they simulate you getting captured. I remember I
- 3:43Speaker 2: asked you. I was like, brow, how hard was sear school?
- 3:45Speaker 2: You know, like I did after Buzzy You're like and
- 3:47Speaker 2: at that point you're so hard You're just like whatever, yeah,
- 3:50Speaker 2: which I thought.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Was like, I will say, mindset is a powerful tool
- 3:54Speaker 1: to get through just about anything.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Well, speaking of mindset, g thank praise God for this
- 3:58Speaker 2: podcast because that's what we talk about a lot. And
- 4:00Speaker 2: today we're talking about how to not be manipulated. And man,
- 4:03Speaker 2: this is such an interesting one because I think about
- 4:06Speaker 2: where we're at in society and some of the stuff
- 4:08Speaker 2: that is going on insert whatever you think is crazy.
- 4:11Speaker 2: There's this movie called Idiocracy if you've ever seen that,
- 4:14Speaker 2: and it's about like it's this future imagined world where
- 4:18Speaker 2: like Terry Crews is the president and he's like got
- 4:21Speaker 2: his shirt off all the time. He's like yeah, and
- 4:22Speaker 2: everybody's like, drink gatorade is better than water, and it's
- 4:25Speaker 2: just this thing that seems ridiculous. And then you start
- 4:27Speaker 2: looking at what's happening today where we're arguing about what
- 4:30Speaker 2: a man is and what a woman is, and you go, wait,
- 4:32Speaker 2: what the heck, Like, what is going on? So gee,
- 4:35Speaker 2: I look this up because I was so curious about this.
- 4:38Speaker 2: It's hard to get hard data on some of these
- 4:40Speaker 2: things because there's not like an official registry. So I
- 4:43Speaker 2: was looking at like, transgenderism is a big topic right
- 4:46Speaker 2: now in America, and it has been spiked in twenty fifteen.
- 4:49Speaker 2: It took another spike since twenty twenty on, and it's
- 4:51Speaker 2: been an elevated term. Now, think about how much it's
- 4:54Speaker 2: talked about, how much everybody knows what it is relative
- 4:56Speaker 2: to the actual population. There's no official record, but the
- 5:01Speaker 2: Williams Institute estimates that point eight percent of adults in
- 5:05Speaker 2: America identify as transgender. That's roughly two point one million
- 5:08Speaker 2: people now, of those that have actually used or not
- 5:12Speaker 2: Of those, but how many in our population have actually
- 5:14Speaker 2: used transgender hormones? Less than point four percent how many
- 5:18Speaker 2: have undergone any transition RELAYD surgery any less than point
- 5:22Speaker 2: two percent when we start talking about that have had
- 5:24Speaker 2: the actual general surgery, it's point zero eight to point
- 5:29Speaker 2: one two is the rough estimate, so that you may
- 5:32Speaker 2: not be speaking percentages. So imagine you have ten thousand people.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Of those ten thousand, eighty would identify as transgender, slightly
- 5:39Speaker 2: less than forty you would have used some sort of hormones,
- 5:42Speaker 2: less than twenty you would have had at least one
- 5:44Speaker 2: transition related surgical procedure, and only eight to twelve people
- 5:47Speaker 2: would have undergone any actual surgery.
- 5:50Speaker 1: I mean US populations like three hundred three to twenty
- 5:53Speaker 1: five it's more than that, yeah, no, no, no, five million
- 5:57Speaker 1: US population ye, three hundred twenty Like, it's around three
- 6:00Speaker 1: hundred and twenty five million. So you just take a
- 6:03Speaker 1: zero point one percent of that, which is what it's saying.
- 6:05Speaker 1: I'm just doing some numbers here of what it's saying
- 6:07Speaker 1: could be people who have gone through transgender genital surgery.
- 6:11Speaker 1: That'd be three hundred and twenty five thousand people in
- 6:13Speaker 1: total right now.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Yes, so you would think and that sounds like a
- 6:16Speaker 2: lot of people, but on that large swath, like, what
- 6:19Speaker 2: happens in your life point one percent of the time
- 6:21Speaker 2: that you spend that much time talking about you don't
- 6:24Speaker 2: like you don't spend all your time talking about flat tires,
- 6:26Speaker 2: do you?
- 6:26Speaker 1: Like?
- 6:27Speaker 2: You get when you're like, oh I got a flat tire,
- 6:28Speaker 2: you go get it fixed, and then you just don't
- 6:29Speaker 2: think about a flat tire like ever until you know,
- 6:32Speaker 2: hopefully you're changing your tires out shout out the firestone. No,
- 6:36Speaker 2: but you know what I mean, It's like, it's it's
- 6:38Speaker 2: crazy that we have such a disproportionate amount of talk
- 6:41Speaker 2: about something that if you look in and once again
- 6:43Speaker 2: we don't have official data, that's that's the best estimates
- 6:46Speaker 2: we have. And so you sit there and you go,
- 6:47Speaker 2: hang on a minute, how did we get to the
- 6:50Speaker 2: point where this is like a major political talking point
- 6:52Speaker 2: where it's you know, we don't follow the WNBA, but like, man,
- 6:55Speaker 2: it's like coming up there and there's a lot of
- 6:58Speaker 2: people that that's bringing attention to. And so I think
- 7:00Speaker 2: sometimes you can sit there and go how did we
- 7:02Speaker 2: get here? And for anybody that's ever had a major
- 7:05Speaker 2: failure in their life, you will wonder that same question,
- 7:08Speaker 2: how did I get here? I remember whenever you asked
- 7:10Speaker 2: me why I got depressed, I was like, man, I
- 7:13Speaker 2: had to really think about it, man, And I eventually
- 7:16Speaker 2: rooted it back to a very small thing and some
- 7:20Speaker 2: very small deviations, And so I think that that's true.
- 7:23Speaker 1: It's really it's one of the most interesting studies. We
- 7:29Speaker 1: looked at some of this in the military when we
- 7:32Speaker 1: were going through When you study like mass casualty events,
- 7:37Speaker 1: things like an aircraft accident, like when an airplane crashes,
- 7:41Speaker 1: they spend millions, if not tens of millions of dollars
- 7:44Speaker 1: picking that thing apart to understand how could this have happened.
- 7:49Speaker 1: They taught us those in the military when I did
- 7:52Speaker 1: things where we also studied like where really horrible events
- 7:57Speaker 1: like dropping a bomb in the wrong place happened. As
- 8:00Speaker 1: a jtech, we went through like training and who the
- 8:03Speaker 1: people who have like picked picked apart mass casualty events
- 8:06Speaker 1: the most is the FAA. They're kind of they're like
- 8:09Speaker 1: leading experts on analysis of poor decision making, and they'll
- 8:14Speaker 1: they break everything down into like a massive fishbone diagram. Okay,
- 8:19Speaker 1: and from the time that that plane, you know, crashes
- 8:22Speaker 1: into the ground, they trace it all the way back
- 8:24Speaker 1: to what was happening before as the plane was taxing,
- 8:28Speaker 1: and they take it back to these tiny little events
- 8:31Speaker 1: and you don't realize the small decisions that you're making,
- 8:35Speaker 1: like what your every decision that you make, you're cutting
- 8:38Speaker 1: off possibilities for good or for bad in the future.
- 8:42Speaker 1: And the way that they show that to us and
- 8:45Speaker 1: then they teach, like what they the whole point of
- 8:47Speaker 1: this exercise is they say, you see ow this plane crash,
- 8:50Speaker 1: and you literally follow the chart backwards to there was
- 8:53Speaker 1: this tiny little rule that doesn't seem like a big
- 8:55Speaker 1: deal that they'd stepped over. Yeah, if you do what
- 8:59Speaker 1: you know is right, this is scripture. This is anyone
- 9:02Speaker 1: who's done dangerous things in their life. Don't step over
- 9:05Speaker 1: what you know is right. Do the little things that
- 9:07Speaker 1: you know are right, and it will save you from harm.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Yeah, this is not deadly, but it's where my mind went,
- 9:12Speaker 2: and it's probably a lot more relatable for people who
- 9:14Speaker 2: have not done deadly things, which you know, I don't
- 9:15Speaker 2: know what swath of our population that listens to our
- 9:18Speaker 2: podcast has really taken their life in their own hands.
- 9:20Speaker 2: But I like to watch a lot of baseball g
- 9:22Speaker 2: and because of stat cast, now every pitch that happens,
- 9:25Speaker 2: they can tell you based on the player that's up
- 9:27Speaker 2: and the picture what the hit probability is and it
- 9:30Speaker 2: changes every pitch. Ye, so I think it's so.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Fast or has like a two fifty batting average, but
- 9:34Speaker 1: against this picture is like one seventy dude.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Right, But then it's like, oh, if it goes to
- 9:38Speaker 2: one to oh, well, his probability jumps up. If it's
- 9:40Speaker 2: O one, it jumps down. And you see it, Like,
- 9:42Speaker 2: I think it's very fascinating because you're watching this guy.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Like if you're in the box, you know, if you
- 9:47Speaker 2: get to two man, you're on defense mode. Like anything
- 9:50Speaker 2: that's near the zone you're gonna swing. And pictures know that.
- 9:52Speaker 2: So they'll throw you a nice slider that looks like
- 9:54Speaker 2: it's going to stay in the zone then drops out,
- 9:56Speaker 2: and so like that's great.
- 9:57Speaker 1: You gotta be han solo in the box. Never tell
- 10:01Speaker 1: me the odds.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, there you go, But you know what I mean.
- 10:05Speaker 2: I just think that's where you can see it. Now,
- 10:06Speaker 2: what if you had that for life? As you're walking
- 10:08Speaker 2: through like like, hey, you're at the gym, you looked
- 10:11Speaker 2: at something, you know.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Unfortunately, I think it would make most people just more
- 10:16Speaker 1: fearful and more that's true.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Yeah, that's true. We don't need death counts on the
- 10:19Speaker 2: news again. Okay, So how to not get manipulate? Ad
- 10:22Speaker 2: G So manipulation you define this in your typical Garrett,
- 10:25Speaker 2: I stare up the ceiling and it just comes to me.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Influence with a negative connotation.
- 10:29Speaker 1: That's right. I mean, if you just understand the definition
- 10:31Speaker 1: of manipulation, it doesn't have to be a bad thing, right,
- 10:35Speaker 1: But it's not. But manipulation as a word in culture
- 10:39Speaker 1: has a negative connotation. Like you manipulation is like, well
- 10:42Speaker 1: you made me do something, right, I don't know if
- 10:44Speaker 1: I can make you do anything. Now. You know, you
- 10:47Speaker 1: can physically force someone to do something, but people don't
- 10:50Speaker 1: call that manipulation, right. Manipulation is like you hijacked my brain.
- 10:55Speaker 1: It's your brain, not mine.
- 10:56Speaker 2: There's been many cases argued in the court of law
- 10:59Speaker 2: about false advertising, false claims, it and so like it's
- 11:02Speaker 2: a very legal thing. Yeah, did you manipulate people?
- 11:05Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, But manipulation is influenced, correct with a negative connotation,
- 11:09Speaker 1: with a negative connotation.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Now, I think it's for us. So in culture, I
- 11:14Speaker 2: think we can all you know, when I gave that
- 11:15Speaker 2: example earlier with trans genderism and the stats as opposed
- 11:19Speaker 2: to how much airtime it.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Receives before we jump onto the jump jump on past
- 11:23Speaker 1: that for example, like, if I help you become a
- 11:26Speaker 1: positive person, if I help you lose weight, are you
- 11:29Speaker 1: going to say you manipulated me? No? Probably not, probably not, like,
- 11:33Speaker 1: but I did, right, So I just I'm just saying
- 11:36Speaker 1: this for everyone to get where we're at on this manipulate.
- 11:40Speaker 1: People only say you manipulated me after they don't like
- 11:42Speaker 1: what happened.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, but we're warned about it often. I was
- 11:46Speaker 2: going to say, we all think of like because it's
- 11:48Speaker 2: so easy and we're not the hot the Hot Takes podcast.
- 11:50Speaker 2: I don't think we're ever going to be the Hot
- 11:52Speaker 2: Takes podcast. But you can see it so much in
- 11:55Speaker 2: American society and in society today as a whole. But man,
- 11:58Speaker 2: this like we've been worn about this. Scripture warns over
- 12:02Speaker 2: and over and over again about false teachers, false prophets.
- 12:05Speaker 2: Jesus Matthew seven fifteen through seventeen says, watch out for
- 12:09Speaker 2: false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but
- 12:11Speaker 2: inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit, you will
- 12:14Speaker 2: recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thorn bushes or
- 12:17Speaker 2: figs from thistles? Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit,
- 12:21Speaker 2: but a bad tree bears bad fruit. Jesus is saying,
- 12:25Speaker 2: watch out, like they're going to be out there people
- 12:27Speaker 2: who are looking to take advantage of you. Fortunately, g
- 12:30Speaker 2: we have you know. The fruit Test is an episode
- 12:32Speaker 2: that we actually did episode two ninety three. We talked
- 12:35Speaker 2: about how to see the fruit in a person's life,
- 12:37Speaker 2: because wouldn't it be great if you could just instantly
- 12:39Speaker 2: assess fruit? And the truth of matter is you got
- 12:41Speaker 2: to have a little bit of proximity to the person.
- 12:43Speaker 2: You need to know what to look for, and it
- 12:45Speaker 2: takes a little bit of time.
- 12:46Speaker 1: You will know. People buy their fruit. That's what the
- 12:49Speaker 1: Lord said. The Lord weighs the heart, and the heart
- 12:51Speaker 1: is such an important matter, and we're going to talk
- 12:53Speaker 1: about the heart today. But people know each other by
- 12:56Speaker 1: their fruit. Don't miss this episode two ninety three, going
- 12:59Speaker 1: back to talk about the fruit test. By the way,
- 13:01Speaker 1: shout out to those of you who Nick and I
- 13:04Speaker 1: were looking reviewing some of the stats. And when I
- 13:06Speaker 1: say reviewing the stats, it's me asking Nick question questions
- 13:09Speaker 1: at five in the morning, questions about the stats, and
- 13:12Speaker 1: because he is the keeper of the data for The
- 13:15Speaker 1: Impossible Life and so interesting. I'm not surprised by this,
- 13:19Speaker 1: but I think it's so cool and so interesting. And
- 13:21Speaker 1: this is about you, guys, the listeners. The most listened
- 13:23Speaker 1: to episode of all time isn't a guest. It's not
- 13:27Speaker 1: you know. Sometime I was on a roll. The most
- 13:31Speaker 1: listened to episode of The Impossible Life is episode number one.
- 13:34Speaker 2: Which would we would say is our worst episode. Yeah,
- 13:37Speaker 2: so like it's amazing, Well but why is that?
- 13:38Speaker 1: Why is it number one? That's because you guys come in,
- 13:42Speaker 1: you listen to this, you like it, you listen to
- 13:44Speaker 1: five episodes, ten episodes, whatever. You're like, man, this show's great,
- 13:47Speaker 1: and you go back to episode one and you start over.
- 13:50Speaker 1: And I commented on somebody's episode in spot on the
- 13:54Speaker 1: episode in Spotify where somebody commented saying, like, man, this
- 13:57Speaker 1: is awesome. I just I think it was three twenty
- 14:00Speaker 1: three or three twenty nine, but it doesn't matter. They
- 14:03Speaker 1: come to this is so awesome. And I just completed
- 14:05Speaker 1: my first lap. I'm going back to episode number one again.
- 14:10Speaker 1: I don't know what it is yet, but Nick and
- 14:12Speaker 1: I have a desire to connect with those of you
- 14:14Speaker 1: who have listened to every single episode. I do think
- 14:17Speaker 1: it's something unique that we have, Nick, there's a million
- 14:20Speaker 1: great I would say a million. There's a lot of
- 14:22Speaker 1: great podcasts out there to listen to, and they're they're
- 14:25Speaker 1: for many of you listeners, and maybe podcasts that you
- 14:27Speaker 1: like more than this show, and that's fine. There's some
- 14:30Speaker 1: wonderful people out there. Yeah, but I don't think even
- 14:32Speaker 1: of the shows that and I'm not going to reference
- 14:34Speaker 1: any but even of the shows that I appreciate, or
- 14:36Speaker 1: I would say, man, that's such a great show. That's
- 14:38Speaker 1: not a show where people say I want to listen
- 14:40Speaker 1: to every single episode, right. I do think it's something
- 14:43Speaker 1: unique here, and that's you know, it's not just Nick
- 14:45Speaker 1: and I, but that's also a part of who the
- 14:47Speaker 1: audience is here and what is the mission and the
- 14:49Speaker 1: message that we're after. But anyways, I don't know what
- 14:53Speaker 1: it is yet. Nick and I are talking about it,
- 14:54Speaker 1: but we have a desire to connect with those of
- 14:56Speaker 1: you who have listened to every single episode. So don't worry,
- 15:01Speaker 1: you know what, you don't need to respond because we'll
- 15:04Speaker 1: find you.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, dude, Yeah, any.
- 15:06Speaker 1: Way, well no, I'm sure. Well, I'm sure we'll put
- 15:08Speaker 1: out an app or something for those who have listened
- 15:11Speaker 1: to that many episodes too.
- 15:13Speaker 2: It goes back to what you said from before we
- 15:14Speaker 2: start this said, I want everything that we say to
- 15:16Speaker 2: stand up for all time. And I at that point
- 15:19Speaker 2: realized I was going to say very little. Here we
- 15:21Speaker 2: are three hundred and thirty one. Let's get it okay. So,
- 15:24Speaker 2: like we said, you get warned so often about this,
- 15:27Speaker 2: and I think it's you know, imagine you're getting ready
- 15:29Speaker 2: to say something to the people you love for the
- 15:32Speaker 2: very last time. What would you say to them? Most
- 15:34Speaker 2: people would be like, man, I love you, thank you,
- 15:36Speaker 2: like you know you. You would really connect the person.
- 15:38Speaker 2: When the Apostle Paul is getting ready to go to
- 15:40Speaker 2: Jerusalem and be arrested, he says to people, for many
- 15:43Speaker 2: of you, this will be the last time I see you.
- 15:45Speaker 2: So what else does he add in there? Well, I'm
- 15:47Speaker 2: glad you asked. Acts twenty Verses twenty eight through thirty.
- 15:50Speaker 2: Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which
- 15:53Speaker 2: the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of
- 15:56Speaker 2: the Church of God, which he bought with his own blood.
- 15:58Speaker 2: I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come
- 16:01Speaker 2: in among you and will not spare the flock, even
- 16:04Speaker 2: from your own number. Men will arise and distort the
- 16:07Speaker 2: truth in order to draw away disciples after them. So
- 16:10Speaker 2: be on your guard. Remember that for three years I
- 16:13Speaker 2: never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears. Man, Like,
- 16:17Speaker 2: that's crazy that so much of their message was not
- 16:19Speaker 2: just like here's the truth, but also watch out because
- 16:22Speaker 2: people are coming to twist, They're coming to manipulate. There's
- 16:24Speaker 2: gonna be false prophets, there's gonna be savage wolves. I mean,
- 16:28Speaker 2: I just the amount of times I think it's like
- 16:30Speaker 2: virtually in every book they're like, be on guard, these
- 16:33Speaker 2: people are coming. And here we are, you know, thousands
- 16:36Speaker 2: of years later, and I think manipulation happens all the time.
- 16:40Speaker 2: And this is not the Hey, we're about to go
- 16:42Speaker 2: throw a bunch of rocks at the church and specific
- 16:44Speaker 2: people podcast. We don't never do that, but you need
- 16:47Speaker 2: to know that manipulation is happening, and we're gonna give
- 16:49Speaker 2: you the blueprint. Like Garrett in his very fortunate we
- 16:52Speaker 2: have somebody who's got a little bit of experience and
- 16:53Speaker 2: understand psychological operations and or psyops if you want to
- 16:57Speaker 2: sound cool, And we're gonna break down exactly how manipulation
- 17:02Speaker 2: happens and how not to get manipulated and if you're wondering, like, okay,
- 17:05Speaker 2: truth once again. Just one reference episode was the Danger
- 17:08Speaker 2: of Deception. How to find truth in a world of illusion.
- 17:11Speaker 2: You need to know truth. And I look at Garrett,
- 17:14Speaker 2: It's like, why is Garrett hard to manipulate? Well, it's
- 17:17Speaker 2: hard to manipulate someone who knows who they are, where
- 17:19Speaker 2: they're going, and what's right. Like, you love truth, you
- 17:23Speaker 2: know who you are, and I've tried to manipulate you,
- 17:25Speaker 2: and like in fun ways, like I remember I fed
- 17:28Speaker 2: you some things on text and you literally you didn't
- 17:31Speaker 2: even respond to what I actually was looking to get you.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Do you just go, don't try and manipulate me. That's
- 17:36Speaker 2: why you text me back. I was like, dang it,
- 17:39Speaker 2: you saw straight through it because you know where you're going.
- 17:41Speaker 2: And if I try and divert you a little bit,
- 17:44Speaker 2: you know, you're a very obstinate person, as we've covered,
- 17:47Speaker 2: which helps you.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Well, let's let's just we're gonna get into this here. Yeah,
- 17:51Speaker 1: because the first question Nick asked me is like, how
- 17:55Speaker 1: would you manipulate someone? And I said, well, first, let
- 17:57Speaker 1: me tell you how to, you know, not get manipulated.
- 18:00Speaker 1: And we're going to come back to this is going
- 18:01Speaker 1: to be the end of the show. But that was
- 18:02Speaker 1: my first answer to the question. I said, Well, Nick,
- 18:04Speaker 1: let me tell you why I'm hard a person that
- 18:06Speaker 1: is hard to manipulate. I know what I want, I
- 18:09Speaker 1: know where I'm going, I know what I want to
- 18:10Speaker 1: do with my life, I know who I am. And
- 18:12Speaker 1: because of that, it doesn't mean that I won't listen
- 18:15Speaker 1: to anybody. But if for me to listen to you,
- 18:18Speaker 1: you're going to have to convince me more than I've
- 18:20Speaker 1: convinced myself. And I've spent a lot of time thinking
- 18:23Speaker 1: like It's one of the things that Nick thinks it's
- 18:26Speaker 1: funny about me is that I have very formed opinions
- 18:28Speaker 1: on everything. If I give you an opinion, it's not
- 18:31Speaker 1: something I just thought of.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Yeah, And that's why it's hard to get mad at
- 18:34Speaker 2: you for your opinions because they are always well backed.
- 18:36Speaker 2: I've asked you about random stuff and I'm like, man,
- 18:38Speaker 2: that's actually a good point.
- 18:39Speaker 1: So Yeah, So, if you know who you are, if
- 18:43Speaker 1: you know where you're going, if you know what you
- 18:44Speaker 1: want and why you want it, it's hard for someone
- 18:47Speaker 1: to pull you in any specific direction. However, if you're
- 18:50Speaker 1: missing one of those, if you don't know who you are,
- 18:52Speaker 1: if you don't know where you're going, if you don't
- 18:53Speaker 1: know why you want what you want, or you don't
- 18:55Speaker 1: have a strong sense of what is right, it's going
- 18:58Speaker 1: to be very easy for people to pull you in
- 18:59Speaker 1: a certain Yeah.
- 19:01Speaker 2: One you said this whenever we were when we were
- 19:05Speaker 2: preparing you said, if you're seeking change more than the truth,
- 19:08Speaker 2: you put yourself in a position to get manipulated. Really,
- 19:12Speaker 2: if you're seeking change more than the truth.
- 19:15Speaker 1: And that's where that's where so many people like you
- 19:18Speaker 1: you fall into a trap of manipulation, not out of
- 19:21Speaker 1: a desire to truly. If you if you say I
- 19:24Speaker 1: want to know God, I want to know what's right,
- 19:25Speaker 1: I want to know how the world works, that'll put
- 19:28Speaker 1: you in a position to make great change. Again, this
- 19:31Speaker 1: is one of the dichotomies. It's the one that I
- 19:33Speaker 1: like to reference in proverbs as it relates to wisdom.
- 19:36Speaker 1: It says, don't chase wiz don't chase money, right, but
- 19:40Speaker 1: wealth and treasure exists in the house of a wise man.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Don't chase the fruit, but the good tree produces fruit. Right.
- 19:47Speaker 1: And in this same sense, if you're at I just
- 19:50Speaker 1: I just want to lose weight. I just want to
- 19:51Speaker 1: be rich. I just want all these things. You're so
- 19:54Speaker 1: prone to be manipulated. Now, if you'd understand, I do
- 19:57Speaker 1: want these things. But before I proceed, I want to
- 19:59Speaker 1: know how to get there. I want to know what works.
- 20:02Speaker 1: I want to know what are the principles that governed
- 20:04Speaker 1: outcomes as it relates to money, What are the principles
- 20:06Speaker 1: that government outcomes as it relates to weight loss? And
- 20:08Speaker 1: if you'll seek truth before you seek change, you're not
- 20:11Speaker 1: going to be manipulated. But those who are saying it's
- 20:14Speaker 1: and it can come from a good heart, can come
- 20:16Speaker 1: from a good place. Like man, I'm just I'm just
- 20:18Speaker 1: sick and tired. And this is what a lot of
- 20:19Speaker 1: people say. You got to get to the I'm sick
- 20:21Speaker 1: and tired of. If you want things to change, and
- 20:23Speaker 1: things will change, but they won't necessarily change for the better,
- 20:27Speaker 1: you've got to decide I want the truth more than
- 20:29Speaker 1: I want to change but if you are someone who
- 20:31Speaker 1: says I'll do whatever it takes a change, I just
- 20:33Speaker 1: want to change, and you want that more than the truth,
- 20:35Speaker 1: you're setting yourself up to be manipulated.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Man, Yeah, seeking the wrong thing, right? And what you said,
- 20:42Speaker 2: I just want to feel better, you know, I don't
- 20:44Speaker 2: want any more pain. I'm tired of being broke.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Or running from pain or running towards pleasure. Yea, these
- 20:49Speaker 1: are also manipulation paths.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Yeah, man, okay, so we got to get we got
- 20:54Speaker 2: to go into this because this is going to make
- 20:55Speaker 2: sense in about give us four minutes.
- 20:57Speaker 1: And let me just finish that thought. Yeah, right, if
- 20:59Speaker 1: running from pain or running towards pleasure are the manipulation paths,
- 21:03Speaker 1: and we take you'll appreciate this, and we take what
- 21:05Speaker 1: I said is the definition of manipulation. Right. If I
- 21:08Speaker 1: get you to the right place, you're not gonna say
- 21:09Speaker 1: I'm manipulated you, right, Okay? And if you end up
- 21:12Speaker 1: on your purpose, you have not been manipulated. But and
- 21:16Speaker 1: and what if we if you if you're a listener here,
- 21:18Speaker 1: you know we've talked about this before. You can run
- 21:20Speaker 1: from pain, you can run towards pleasure. These are finite loops.
- 21:24Speaker 1: They are loser loops. But the best loop that you
- 21:27Speaker 1: can be on is the path of running towards your purpose,
- 21:29Speaker 1: which is not about running from pain or running towards pleasure. Right,
- 21:32Speaker 1: And as I'm saying is if you want to not
- 21:35Speaker 1: be manipulated, end up on like, if you chase after
- 21:38Speaker 1: your purpose, you're not going to end up being manipulated.
- 21:40Speaker 1: Very good.
- 21:41Speaker 2: And we got a lollt episodes on purpose. I don't
- 21:43Speaker 2: have all the references handy, okay, So gee, we're gonna
- 21:45Speaker 2: get into the manipulation blueprint, which is what Garrett answered
- 21:48Speaker 2: me with whenever I said how would you manipulate somebody?
- 21:51Speaker 2: And you basically said, I would take the Devil's Playbook,
- 21:53Speaker 2: which is the ultimate manipulator.
- 21:55Speaker 1: But it took me about three minutes through it. Yeah.
- 21:59Speaker 2: So the blueprint scripture though, because we're always founded on scripture,
- 22:02Speaker 2: and this is going to give you all the clues
- 22:03Speaker 2: and then we'll just lay it out for you. Two
- 22:05Speaker 2: Timothy four, three through four. For the time will come
- 22:07Speaker 2: when people will not put up with sound doctrine instead
- 22:10Speaker 2: to suit their own desires, they will gather around them
- 22:14Speaker 2: a great number of teachers to say what their itching
- 22:16Speaker 2: ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away
- 22:19Speaker 2: from the truth and turn aside to myths. And we
- 22:22Speaker 2: are going to extrapolate the points for manipulation right here.
- 22:25Speaker 2: So very first thing, I said, gee, what would you do?
- 22:28Speaker 2: And you came back and you said, I would ask
- 22:29Speaker 2: that I would find out what I need one key
- 22:31Speaker 2: piece of intel.
- 22:32Speaker 1: If there's any person like whoever it is, because I
- 22:34Speaker 1: thought about, because we're going to cover this in both ways,
- 22:37Speaker 1: how do I manipulate someone? But then how to not
- 22:39Speaker 1: be manipulated? And as I was thinking through this, it's like,
- 22:42Speaker 1: I'm just take a person. It's like, if I want
- 22:43Speaker 1: to manipulate this person, the most important piece of information
- 22:47Speaker 1: that I can know about you is what do you
- 22:49Speaker 1: want most? Right? Right? And so when in culture or
- 22:53Speaker 1: in capitalism, and you know the dark side of capitalism,
- 22:56Speaker 1: because I believe in the greatness and the truth of capitalism,
- 22:59Speaker 1: but they're certainly a dark side of it. It is
- 23:01Speaker 1: a place where greed can take advantage of people, but
- 23:05Speaker 1: it's also a place where great product can be created,
- 23:08Speaker 1: where people can be served well. And I would rather
- 23:11Speaker 1: have a free society and give good the chance to
- 23:14Speaker 1: overcome evil. Than try to just live in a world
- 23:17Speaker 1: of you know, well, we can't have the good, so
- 23:19Speaker 1: let's just throw it all out. But anyway, it's not
- 23:21Speaker 1: going to talk about capitalism, capitalism and communism right now.
- 23:25Speaker 1: But if I knew what someone wanted most, and this
- 23:28Speaker 1: is what companies will do. It's like, I know what
- 23:31Speaker 1: you want. You just want to lose weight so bad.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Now that I know what you want the most, easy
- 23:36Speaker 1: for me to get you. And they speak to these
- 23:38Speaker 1: people like who gets sold the crap product? It's people
- 23:42Speaker 1: who can be manipulated. It's people who don't know the truth.
- 23:45Speaker 1: You'll do anything. You're sick and tired of be in fat.
- 23:47Speaker 1: You'll do anything to change. Great. You are my customer
- 23:51Speaker 1: because after you know what they want, I'm not here
- 23:53Speaker 1: to help you. I'm here to sell you something.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Right man. Anyways, you're speaking into my world now. And
- 23:59Speaker 2: I'm very careful about this because I actually hate min
- 24:01Speaker 2: it peop of marketing. And I've worked for a lot
- 24:03Speaker 2: of different companies, some of which I've removed myself from,
- 24:05Speaker 2: which I won't speak about publicly, but because I once
- 24:07Speaker 2: I realized what they did, it was not righteous. But anyways,
- 24:11Speaker 2: so what do you want most. And then the second
- 24:13Speaker 2: one you said is just twisting the truth.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Just change it a little bit, okay, because people people
- 24:19Speaker 1: have a general idea God has made as this way,
- 24:23Speaker 1: and truth still exists in society, right, but you can
- 24:26Speaker 1: bend the truth and turn it into something that's very evil. Yeah.
- 24:29Speaker 1: And this is also again we're not just I'll just
- 24:33Speaker 1: hit some examples here, not always trying to hit on
- 24:35Speaker 1: these things. But when you talk about or when you
- 24:38Speaker 1: see what's happening in culture today, like what's how is
- 24:42Speaker 1: culture being hijacked? Well, we've taken words and changed the
- 24:47Speaker 1: meaning of them. For example, equality, It's written in the
- 24:51Speaker 1: governing documents of this country that people would essentially have
- 24:56Speaker 1: the ability to have equal opportunity, not equal outcomes, but
- 25:00Speaker 1: taken equality and made it mean equal outcomes. Okay, so
- 25:03Speaker 1: you start changing the definition of words and you can
- 25:07Speaker 1: change everything. So, but it's twisting the truth a little bit.
- 25:12Speaker 1: And you do this through continuous repetition of false statements.
- 25:17Speaker 1: And when you allow these things that aren't true to
- 25:22Speaker 1: continue to exist. When it's when just one person is
- 25:25Speaker 1: saying it or you're hearing it one time, that's a thing.
- 25:29Speaker 1: But when you've heard it hundreds of times and thousands
- 25:31Speaker 1: of times in either you or a community or a
- 25:34Speaker 1: culture has allowed these half truths to exist. This is
- 25:38Speaker 1: the same as standards. Standards aren't what you say, it's
- 25:40Speaker 1: what you allow. And when you have allowed the definition
- 25:44Speaker 1: of words to change, that has become the new cultural truth.
- 25:47Speaker 1: It may not be what is really true, but it
- 25:50Speaker 1: has become cultural truth. And cultural truth is what everyone
- 25:53Speaker 1: generally believes and accepts, and that is the secular definition
- 25:56Speaker 1: of truth. What is the majority of people saying is right? Well,
- 26:00Speaker 1: that's what's right. That is I mean truly, that is secularism.
- 26:04Speaker 1: This is what everyone believes, so it must be right.
- 26:06Speaker 1: That's not true. Right. You've got to understand what truth is,
- 26:09Speaker 1: and you can also test truth by the fruit that
- 26:12Speaker 1: it produces. What has the seeking equal outcomes for everyone produced?
- 26:17Speaker 1: It hasn't gotten us any further to equal outcomes.
- 26:20Speaker 2: You could even say it's taking us the opposite direction.
- 26:22Speaker 1: But when you know what people want most, then you
- 26:24Speaker 1: begin to twist the truth a little bit. And you
- 26:26Speaker 1: can do this in any category, whether it's just and what.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Always come back to this because it's such a common
- 26:32Speaker 1: theme and a easy one to pick. At because I
- 26:34Speaker 1: don't think it bothers. Anybody is, you know, fitness and
- 26:37Speaker 1: nutritional supplements. This is part of all of our lives.
- 26:39Speaker 1: We all buy nutritional products and fitness supplements and things
- 26:42Speaker 1: like that, and you can begin to twist the truth
- 26:45Speaker 1: by you know, it's like, well, yeah, well of course
- 26:46Speaker 1: I want to eat healthy ingredients. But then let me
- 26:49Speaker 1: take that a little bit further and let me start
- 26:51Speaker 1: to tell you, well, this thing's toxic or this thing's bad,
- 26:53Speaker 1: and it's like, well, it is bad, but it's bad
- 26:56Speaker 1: if you, you know, eat a thousand times the normal
- 26:59Speaker 1: daily can some r right this thing. But I'm not
- 27:02Speaker 1: going to talk about that. We're just gonna talk about
- 27:03Speaker 1: how this thing is.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Evil and over and over and over again. I know
- 27:05Speaker 2: this to be true because when brands want to get
- 27:07Speaker 2: themselves to be awareness the broad range, I've heard anywhere
- 27:11Speaker 2: from twelve to thirty two impressions before somebody will actually
- 27:14Speaker 2: remember who you are. So think about how many times
- 27:16Speaker 2: you have to continue to repeat this manipulated, twisted truth
- 27:20Speaker 2: for people to finally start to accept it the way
- 27:23Speaker 2: you said, and it becomes quote unquote truth is that
- 27:25Speaker 2: they believe and they accept it right. It takes a
- 27:28Speaker 2: lot of impressions that repetition is important, it's an important part.
- 27:31Speaker 1: But then once you twist the truth a little bit,
- 27:33Speaker 1: here's this is where the inception happened. Inception happens. Okay,
- 27:37Speaker 1: if you've watched the movie Inceptions, such a great movie,
- 27:39Speaker 1: because in our intro it is I appreciate that movie
- 27:44Speaker 1: great for many reasons, some of Christopher Nolan's best work.
- 27:47Speaker 1: But essentially the concept there is it's very hard to
- 27:51Speaker 1: plant an idea in someone's head. They have to believe
- 27:53Speaker 1: that the idea is their own. Yeah, okay, And this
- 27:56Speaker 1: is where inception happens. In manipulation is when you add
- 27:59Speaker 1: emotion to it. It's like I've been giving you all
- 28:01Speaker 1: this information, but as soon as you attach your own
- 28:04Speaker 1: feelings to it, now it's yours. Because that's the sensation
- 28:08Speaker 1: that you'd like you to attached to your identity. It
- 28:11Speaker 1: becomes a part of who you are. As soon as
- 28:13Speaker 1: you start fighting for this thing you send, you get
- 28:16Speaker 1: a feeling of injustice, you get a feeling of love
- 28:19Speaker 1: or helping another person, or like, you know, whatever strong
- 28:22Speaker 1: emotion you can think of that becomes your strong emotions
- 28:26Speaker 1: become attached to a half truth. You have now been manipulated.
- 28:30Speaker 1: You've taken on that idea as your own.
- 28:32Speaker 2: Yeah, and think about that.
- 28:34Speaker 1: Man.
- 28:34Speaker 2: So if you tie in the emotion and then then
- 28:36Speaker 2: now the like you said, the manipulated person, they run away,
- 28:39Speaker 2: they feel the fire for you. It's the best thing
- 28:41Speaker 2: you could have. It's like how to take somebody from
- 28:44Speaker 2: you know, I don't care to an extremist. Is you
- 28:46Speaker 2: just gave those four steps. Here's a large cultural area
- 28:50Speaker 2: where we saw this. Racism in this country was like
- 28:53Speaker 2: the hot topic. And if you look back, you start
- 28:57Speaker 2: off with a lot of different things starting to happen
- 28:59Speaker 2: about how cops are racist, how you know, and it
- 29:02Speaker 2: was and then you started it would always blow up
- 29:03Speaker 2: with like look at this reel, this this poor person,
- 29:06Speaker 2: this poor black person, typically was a black person and
- 29:09Speaker 2: this white cop. And so you would get little pieces
- 29:11Speaker 2: and you would get these little stories and things would
- 29:13Speaker 2: just be covered by the news and they would blow
- 29:15Speaker 2: up a little bit. And so what is that you
- 29:17Speaker 2: twist the truth cops are racist? And like you would
- 29:20Speaker 2: always get the people that are going, hey, there, I
- 29:22Speaker 2: remember what's his name? Who's the guy that did the
- 29:25Speaker 2: ten thousand hours. Malcolm Gladwell. Malcolm Gladwell did a study
- 29:30Speaker 2: on this. He said, there's twenty five million traffic stops
- 29:32Speaker 2: a year in the US, and so when you actually
- 29:34Speaker 2: look at the stats, there's nothing to back up that
- 29:36Speaker 2: there's racism from a statistical standpoint. But we're not looking
- 29:39Speaker 2: at statistics, right, because, like you said, it's what people accept.
- 29:42Speaker 2: So if you start seeing these stories when the George
- 29:44Speaker 2: Floyd incident happened, which no one is defending, like what
- 29:47Speaker 2: happened there was awful, But when that happened, what did
- 29:50Speaker 2: that do?
- 29:50Speaker 1: Man?
- 29:51Speaker 2: That was the emotional emphasis that went on to how
- 29:53Speaker 2: many I don't even know thousands of reps that can
- 29:55Speaker 2: happen on social media and in the news to suddenly convince.
- 29:58Speaker 1: People it's the truth is when you make an outlier
- 30:01Speaker 1: of generalization. Correct, Okay, yes this cop might have been racist. Yeah,
- 30:06Speaker 1: does not mean cops are racist.
- 30:07Speaker 2: Correct, But you start pouring the fuel on the fire
- 30:10Speaker 2: over and over again, and then you get the one
- 30:11Speaker 2: big one, right, and now everybody's up in arms, and
- 30:14Speaker 2: what do they do? We should defund the police? And
- 30:16Speaker 2: what do people campaign off of? We're for you?
- 30:19Speaker 1: Right?
- 30:19Speaker 2: And now it's now you've you're on that line, and people,
- 30:22Speaker 2: masses of the population are being manipulated based on something
- 30:25Speaker 2: that's not.
- 30:26Speaker 1: Actually people become a part of the emotional fire when
- 30:29Speaker 1: they never went back so well. Another great example for
- 30:32Speaker 1: this is Charlie Kirk. Right, Okay, there's this great video.
- 30:36Speaker 1: I should know the guy's name because I've seen hi
- 30:38Speaker 1: multiple times, but there's this great video that's going around
- 30:40Speaker 1: social media of this guy who was on on the left,
- 30:46Speaker 1: and when he first heard that Charlie Kirk had died,
- 30:49Speaker 1: he's like good, Like he's like good, you know, and
- 30:53Speaker 1: said a bunch of horrible things about the guy. He's like,
- 30:56Speaker 1: that's how I felt when someone told me that Charlie
- 30:58Speaker 1: Kirk was assassinated, and he said, I had like an
- 31:01Speaker 1: epiphany in that moment. It's like I don't even know
- 31:03Speaker 1: this person, Like who am I becoming that I would
- 31:07Speaker 1: celebrate that this person was assassinated and it took And
- 31:10Speaker 1: what he realized is like, I don't actually even know
- 31:12Speaker 1: the guy. All I know is what people have told
- 31:15Speaker 1: me about this person. And this guy's completely flipped over
- 31:18Speaker 1: the other side and is you know, a great supporter
- 31:21Speaker 1: of Charlie's content and basically after Charlie died. Having felt
- 31:25Speaker 1: that way about Charlie when he died, went and watched
- 31:28Speaker 1: a bunch of his content and was changed by Charlie's content. Yeah,
- 31:30Speaker 1: well that's amazing.
- 31:32Speaker 2: And you know, we use the big ones because I
- 31:34Speaker 2: think when you look at it and you realize how
- 31:36Speaker 2: masses are manipulated, you see the framework. Let's give a
- 31:39Speaker 2: smaller one that will relate to virtually anybody, whether you're
- 31:42Speaker 2: in the United States or not. Well, I'm a marketer,
- 31:45Speaker 2: g and unfortunately, like I said, there's a manipultive marketing
- 31:47Speaker 2: and you touched on it earlier. Those good old healthy
- 31:49Speaker 2: energy drinks, man, we all love them. You can all
- 31:51Speaker 2: think of whatever brand is your favorite one right now.
- 31:54Speaker 1: And I don't know how many are actually healthy, but gee,
- 31:57Speaker 1: they might market themselves.
- 31:58Speaker 2: They're healthy, bro. I read the marketing on their website.
- 32:00Speaker 2: They've done studies, you know, science sixty percent of the time.
- 32:03Speaker 2: It works every time. So what do you want? I
- 32:06Speaker 2: want to look great? Who doesn't want to look great?
- 32:08Speaker 1: Right?
- 32:08Speaker 2: We all want to be in better shape. We want
- 32:09Speaker 2: to be healthier, we want to be thinner, we want
- 32:11Speaker 2: to be leaner. So what do you do that's what
- 32:12Speaker 2: do you want? Now, I know what you want. You
- 32:14Speaker 2: want to look great, you want to be leaner. So
- 32:15Speaker 2: how do I twist the truth? Well, when combined with exercise,
- 32:19Speaker 2: our formula is clinically proven to boost your metabolism and
- 32:22Speaker 2: help you burn body fat. That's taken directly from one
- 32:25Speaker 2: of these websites. I'm not going to shout out which
- 32:27Speaker 2: one it is. That's exactly what they said. And they
- 32:29Speaker 2: talk about thermogenics right, which man, thermogenics will help you
- 32:32Speaker 2: burn more calories. So they're starting to feed you a
- 32:35Speaker 2: portion of like what it is now. I actually spoke
- 32:37Speaker 2: to one of the scientists. I spoke to them last week.
- 32:39Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, who's clinic.
- 32:41Speaker 2: Well, no, it was University of Oklahoma. It was a
- 32:43Speaker 2: well known research, like it was a respected study. But
- 32:45Speaker 2: here's what he said. And I spoke like, this is
- 32:47Speaker 2: a doctor who I'm working with on a whole other venture.
- 32:51Speaker 2: I highlight this drink company, and he said, yeah, that
- 32:53Speaker 2: was I was actually at the labs when they were
- 32:55Speaker 2: doing this. I was one of the subjects that was
- 32:57Speaker 2: used in that study because it was done like thirteen
- 32:59Speaker 2: fourteen years ago. And so what it is is ge
- 33:01Speaker 2: you and I are going to do workout. I'm going
- 33:03Speaker 2: to drink this energy drink. You're not. And then they're
- 33:05Speaker 2: going to measure how much I burn. Well, I burn
- 33:07Speaker 2: thirty more calories, right.
- 33:09Speaker 1: Yeah, because you got a bunch of caffeine and sugar
- 33:12Speaker 1: and you got up and moved around more. And it's
- 33:14Speaker 1: also a paid study, right, But it's not a net
- 33:17Speaker 1: effect of person who drinks the drink and person who
- 33:21Speaker 1: doesn't do the drink does the exact same workout, and
- 33:24Speaker 1: one person burns more calories. Right, Well, it's got to
- 33:27Speaker 1: drink the drink and he burn more calories, but you
- 33:29Speaker 1: shot them up with meth and he ran twenty lapse
- 33:32Speaker 1: on the truck.
- 33:32Speaker 2: Who knew? Right, But you get my point. So now
- 33:35Speaker 2: we can say with a clinical study that I burn
- 33:38Speaker 2: more calories than you did when I drank this drink.
- 33:40Speaker 2: And it's true. Now we don't say how much, and
- 33:43Speaker 2: certainly burning thirty more calories is not going to change
- 33:45Speaker 2: your life at all, but now it's true. So now
- 33:48Speaker 2: we repeat it over and over again. Man, this is
- 33:50Speaker 2: the thermogenic And you use a term that people don't
- 33:52Speaker 2: use unless you're like in boilers, unless you're in like
- 33:54Speaker 2: the heating industry. You don't use the term thermogenics unless
- 33:57Speaker 2: you're a scientist or in a very small industry. So
- 33:59Speaker 2: it's like, oh, thermallyrogenics sounds complicated, twisted language, repeated over
- 34:03Speaker 2: and over again, and then tie in the motion, man,
- 34:05Speaker 2: feel great, great.
- 34:06Speaker 1: Elogenics is such a buzzword that well, it goes back
- 34:10Speaker 1: to like some of the supplements like a phedron that
- 34:12Speaker 1: people used to say, yeah, which is essentially i'll burn calories,
- 34:16Speaker 1: but I don't have to work out exactly. People love
- 34:18Speaker 1: that idea, like, oh, I just got to turn up
- 34:20Speaker 1: the furnace in my body, right, my body will burn
- 34:22Speaker 1: the calories itself and I can sit on the couch
- 34:24Speaker 1: with a thermogenic effect. Yeah, dude, because it's not me,
- 34:27Speaker 1: it's my metabolist.
- 34:28Speaker 2: Obviously, it's not my fault.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Bro, Don't you know That's that's one of the nasty
- 34:32Speaker 1: half truths of And again right to my point of
- 34:37Speaker 1: changing the definition of words, Oh, like, oh, I just
- 34:41Speaker 1: need a better furnace, I need a better metabolism, I
- 34:43Speaker 1: need a better I need thermogenics. And if I just
- 34:46Speaker 1: you know, you understand half of what these things mean.
- 34:49Speaker 1: If you understood what they really mean, you wouldn't be
- 34:50Speaker 1: able to be manipulated.
- 34:51Speaker 2: Right, So I feel great, I look great, it tastes great. Man,
- 34:55Speaker 2: I'm more focused like all these things that like all
- 34:57Speaker 2: of a sudden, these idealized lifestyle they don't. I'll never
- 35:00Speaker 2: show somebody who's like one hundred pounds overweight drinking one
- 35:02Speaker 2: of these things. In the ads. It's always somebody that has,
- 35:05Speaker 2: of course the idealized life. And then what happens you
- 35:08Speaker 2: take you drink it, and of course because it has
- 35:09Speaker 2: two hundred milligrams of caffeine, you feel the boost. And
- 35:12Speaker 2: now what is what's happened?
- 35:14Speaker 1: You? Just you run?
- 35:15Speaker 2: You feel the fire? Dude, these things make me feel
- 35:17Speaker 2: so much better, like I do I have to when
- 35:19Speaker 2: I have these things. I've noticed it. Man, when I
- 35:21Speaker 2: go to the gym, like I can feel it. Oh,
- 35:23Speaker 2: off you go. And you know what these are million
- 35:26Speaker 2: tens of millions. I mean, the energy drink market a
- 35:29Speaker 2: billion dollar plus industry. I haven't done the research, but man,
- 35:32Speaker 2: the amount of energy drinks that are sold awesome, right,
- 35:35Speaker 2: and so like this is this happens all the time
- 35:37Speaker 2: I use energy drink.
- 35:39Speaker 1: An obvious one billion dollar brands built in eighteen months
- 35:42Speaker 1: and twenty four months in the energy drink space. So yeah,
- 35:45Speaker 1: there might be some people that are a little attempted
- 35:47Speaker 1: to bend the truth.
- 35:48Speaker 2: Yeah, and I hate that that's the case, but that
- 35:50Speaker 2: happens all the time in marketing products. Can we say
- 35:53Speaker 2: this without it being without it being a complete lie?
- 35:56Speaker 2: Well yeah, because technically it's true. Great, that's our marketing slogan.
- 35:58Speaker 2: And it's it's wrong. It's it's just absolutely wrong. Happens
- 36:01Speaker 2: all the time. So whether we're talking about masses of
- 36:03Speaker 2: populations being manipulated for political gain or whether we're talking
- 36:06Speaker 2: about just hey, spend two ninety nine of my energy drink,
- 36:09Speaker 2: it happens all the time. So gee, we talked about
- 36:11Speaker 2: and just to repeat them again, the manipulation blueprint is
- 36:14Speaker 2: what you want most and you desire, Then you twist
- 36:16Speaker 2: the truth with an ad repetition, tie in emotion, and
- 36:19Speaker 2: then let the manipulated person fuel the fire. That's the
- 36:22Speaker 2: four ways it happens. So how do we not get manipulated?
- 36:25Speaker 2: Because that's what we really want, This is.
- 36:27Speaker 1: What we really want. How to not be manipulated? If
- 36:30Speaker 1: you want to be a person who I can't say,
- 36:32Speaker 1: I can make you bulletproof in this, but I can
- 36:34Speaker 1: give you a bulletproof vest and take it. That's not perfect,
- 36:38Speaker 1: but it helps a lot and it'll change the way
- 36:40Speaker 1: that you live. You want to be someone that, like
- 36:43Speaker 1: we talked about in the beginning, I know who I am,
- 36:45Speaker 1: I know what's right, I know where I'm going. Right,
- 36:47Speaker 1: So let me give you just a formula for how
- 36:50Speaker 1: to not be manipulated. Most important thing? Right, If I
- 36:54Speaker 1: want to manipulate you, what do I need? I just
- 36:57Speaker 1: need to know what you want the most? And if
- 36:59Speaker 1: you want to be someone who is very hard to manipulate,
- 37:01Speaker 1: it the most important thing for you. Scripture talks about
- 37:04Speaker 1: it often. Guard your heart. Guard your heart with all diligence,
- 37:08Speaker 1: for from it flow the issues of life. Proverbs for
- 37:11Speaker 1: twenty three. You need to know what you are chasing
- 37:15Speaker 1: after and why are you chasing after it? Okay, the
- 37:18Speaker 1: thing that you want most in your life, and be
- 37:22Speaker 1: careful again. You know people say it, and it's true.
- 37:24Speaker 1: You got to get to that place of I'm sick
- 37:27Speaker 1: and tired of being sick and tired, right, sick and
- 37:29Speaker 1: tired of being fat, sick and tired to be important
- 37:30Speaker 1: sick and tired of whatever. Get to that place. But
- 37:34Speaker 1: be careful as you get to that place, because sometimes
- 37:38Speaker 1: that I don't even want to call it boldness, I
- 37:41Speaker 1: would want to call that just that zeal. In a moment,
- 37:45Speaker 1: it'll lower your your wisdom barrier, it'll lower your You're
- 37:49Speaker 1: just like I'll do I'll run through brick walls. I'll
- 37:51Speaker 1: do whatever it takes. And you think that that's what's
- 37:53Speaker 1: going to get you what you want. Right, I was
- 37:55Speaker 1: unmotivated before. Now I'm really motivated. You need to remember
- 37:59Speaker 1: one of the most important things in life, and this
- 38:00Speaker 1: is a great reminder, effort does not equal outcome. Just
- 38:03Speaker 1: because you want it really bad, just because you try
- 38:05Speaker 1: really hard doesn't mean you're going to succeed. Right. The
- 38:08Speaker 1: race is not to the swiftest, says Scripture, and victory
- 38:11Speaker 1: does not go to the person who's sweat the most. Okay,
- 38:15Speaker 1: you also need to know what's right. But before we
- 38:17Speaker 1: get there, it's guard your heart, and that multiple times
- 38:22Speaker 1: in Scripture it talks about guarding your heart, guarding yourself.
- 38:25Speaker 1: I want to give you this thought of Okay, what
- 38:26Speaker 1: does that mean? Okay? Guard is what's the Bible really saying?
- 38:29Speaker 1: Guard your heart. Right, I'll make it simple. Be careful
- 38:33Speaker 1: what you want, be careful why you want what you want.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Let me give you a thought that'll maybe stick with
- 38:37Speaker 1: you as it relates to guarding your heart. Okay, well
- 38:39Speaker 1: what does it mean to guard? Okay, we don't live
- 38:43Speaker 1: in a place where there's like city guards anymore. But
- 38:45Speaker 1: what did city guards do back in the day as
- 38:49Speaker 1: anyone was entering the city? Why are you here? State
- 38:52Speaker 1: your business? Right, like, what did you come here to do?
- 38:56Speaker 1: Now that doesn't mean that the city guards like can
- 38:58Speaker 1: do a background check, but you know what, they're going
- 39:00Speaker 1: to look a person in the eye, ask him a question,
- 39:02Speaker 1: what are you doing here? Look at all the things
- 39:04Speaker 1: that they got with them and see if that checks out. Yeah,
- 39:06Speaker 1: it's like border crossing now, yeah, yeah, they're gonna at
- 39:08Speaker 1: least make an attempt. You know, if you go into
- 39:11Speaker 1: a bar, there's a bouncer there, one's gonna check your
- 39:14Speaker 1: ID and then he's gonna he's gonna look at you
- 39:16Speaker 1: and like, are you here to cause trouble? And if
- 39:18Speaker 1: you even look kind of shady, he's gonna say, hey, look,
- 39:20Speaker 1: here's the rules. Don't do any of this or you're
- 39:22Speaker 1: gonna find me right right, state your business, and I
- 39:25Speaker 1: would say, have the same thing about what you let
- 39:28Speaker 1: into your desire center in life? Right when some like
- 39:31Speaker 1: do you just let stuff come into your city? Right? Right?
- 39:34Speaker 1: Do you just let stuff come? Well? I saw this thing,
- 39:36Speaker 1: and I'm like, I really like that. Yeah, state your business?
- 39:39Speaker 1: Why are you here? Guard your heart? That's what it means,
- 39:42Speaker 1: to guard your heart with all diligence you need. And
- 39:45Speaker 1: you've got to get to a place. And I love
- 39:48Speaker 1: programs and systems that help people do this where you
- 39:51Speaker 1: can find it the hard way or you can find
- 39:52Speaker 1: it the right way. But you've got to get to
- 39:54Speaker 1: a place where you're submitted before the Lord and you say, Lord,
- 39:57Speaker 1: I want what you want. Yeah, okay, And once you
- 39:59Speaker 1: find yourself from that place, you must guard your heart
- 40:01Speaker 1: with all diligence.
- 40:02Speaker 2: Very very good. I did think about the border crossing
- 40:05Speaker 2: because being a young man growing up in southern California,
- 40:07Speaker 2: I did dip down into Mexico and there Tequana for sure.
- 40:12Speaker 2: And when you come back across Man. I had a
- 40:14Speaker 2: guy who messed with me once. He's like that car
- 40:16Speaker 2: in front of you because it was my friends. He's
- 40:17Speaker 2: like they said you had some weed on you, and
- 40:19Speaker 2: I was like, he caught me out. So I was
- 40:21Speaker 2: like what. I was like, why would he say that?
- 40:23Speaker 2: I was like, I was like, I don't have that.
- 40:24Speaker 2: I don't even I've never even tried that. And my
- 40:26Speaker 2: friend in the past she's like, no, it's true. Man,
- 40:28Speaker 2: he's pretty straight. He doesn't do any of that. And
- 40:30Speaker 2: then the guard like, so he messed with us. He
- 40:32Speaker 2: asked us like two more questions, and I was like,
- 40:33Speaker 2: I was like, I swear. I was like, they wouldn't
- 40:35Speaker 2: say that, and he's like, all right, you can go.
- 40:37Speaker 2: Didn't even I was he must have just been laughing
- 40:39Speaker 2: because like he had me, oh yeah, well you know what, dude.
- 40:43Speaker 1: I I just thought you're not who he's looking for.
- 40:46Speaker 2: I thought he was just good, Like I was gonna
- 40:47Speaker 2: show my idea and he was gonna look at me
- 40:49Speaker 2: and like I was like, all right, yeah, you can go,
- 40:50Speaker 2: and instead he was like, let's have some fun. Well
- 40:52Speaker 2: there you go. So you need to guard your heart
- 40:54Speaker 2: like that state your business, all right, So we've guarded
- 40:56Speaker 2: our heart. G What's number two.
- 40:57Speaker 1: Number two is to know the truth. Like we said earlier,
- 41:02Speaker 1: if you want to change more than you want to
- 41:03Speaker 1: know the truth, you're probably going to get manipulated. Man.
- 41:06Speaker 1: It doesn't mean you can't want to change, but guard
- 41:09Speaker 1: your heart. Right again, there's nothing wrong with wanting money, right,
- 41:14Speaker 1: But if you chase after it, it's like, hey, i'd
- 41:16Speaker 1: like to be successful too, right, I'd like to be
- 41:18Speaker 1: able to take care of my family. I'd like to
- 41:19Speaker 1: be able to be generous. That's great. But if it's
- 41:21Speaker 1: what you want most and you start looking past all
- 41:24Speaker 1: these important things, you're going to end up being manipulated.
- 41:27Speaker 1: Number two is to know the truth. This is what
- 41:30Speaker 1: Scripture says Proverbs chapter fourteen, verse fifteen. The simple believe everything,
- 41:36Speaker 1: but the prudent gives thought to his steps and what
- 41:39Speaker 1: is it? And the Bible talks about the truth, and
- 41:42Speaker 1: it says Bible says, to know the truth. Jesus says,
- 41:45Speaker 1: I am the way, I am the truth. I am
- 41:47Speaker 1: the life. Jesus is the truth. Right, And so really,
- 41:51Speaker 1: what it means to know the truth is to know him.
- 41:54Speaker 1: Everything should fit into this is. You can laugh at this,
- 41:57Speaker 1: call it cheesy, but it really is that this is
- 42:00Speaker 1: the way everything should fit. The more you know Christ,
- 42:03Speaker 1: the more you're going to know what you should and
- 42:04Speaker 1: shouldn't do right. The more you're going to know what's possible,
- 42:08Speaker 1: the more you're going to know is acting. If you
- 42:10Speaker 1: can look at something and say acting that way, it
- 42:13Speaker 1: would not be into christ like nature. Now you've got
- 42:15Speaker 1: to have way more than an elementary Sunday school understanding
- 42:19Speaker 1: of what it means to be Christ Like. But the
- 42:21Speaker 1: more you know Him, the easier it's going to be
- 42:24Speaker 1: for you, in any situation to say, no, that's not right,
- 42:27Speaker 1: that's not what's true. Ephesians Chapter four, verses twelve through fourteen.
- 42:32Speaker 1: To equip the saints for work of ministry and to
- 42:35Speaker 1: build up the body of Christ, until we all reach
- 42:38Speaker 1: unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the
- 42:40Speaker 1: Son of God, as we mature to full measure of
- 42:43Speaker 1: the stature of Christ. That's what God wants for us.
- 42:46Speaker 1: But this is what it says verse fourteen. Then we
- 42:49Speaker 1: will no longer be infants, tossed about by the waves
- 42:53Speaker 1: and carried around by every wind of teaching and by
- 42:57Speaker 1: the clever cunning of men in their deceitful scheming. Okay,
- 43:01Speaker 1: the more you get built up, the more you get equipped,
- 43:04Speaker 1: the more you pursue God. When I'm living in righteous obedience,
- 43:08Speaker 1: faithful living towards God. It's going to be very hard
- 43:12Speaker 1: for me to be manipulated. I have but like, why
- 43:15Speaker 1: is the Bible so important in our life? Because it
- 43:18Speaker 1: doesn't change, Okay, And if I really know it and
- 43:21Speaker 1: understand it, then I'm going to be able to live
- 43:24Speaker 1: a life that's consistent. And being manipulated is just being
- 43:27Speaker 1: taken from one side to the other side. And this
- 43:30Speaker 1: is what we've seen in culture, this is what you've
- 43:32Speaker 1: seen in the marketplace, that people get taken from one
- 43:35Speaker 1: place to the next place in the next place, and
- 43:37Speaker 1: they are sheep led to the slaughter because they are
- 43:40Speaker 1: not in charge of their destiny. They're just following every
- 43:43Speaker 1: single whim. So what you've got to do is know
- 43:45Speaker 1: the truth. And to know the truth really is to
- 43:48Speaker 1: know Christ. And this is also no I would say
- 43:51Speaker 1: in the word that I love to get to because
- 43:54Speaker 1: I've studied it is the Greek word ganasco, which means
- 43:57Speaker 1: to know through intimacy. Okay, this is you know, if
- 44:02Speaker 1: some people who come to mighty Men, or you listen
- 44:04Speaker 1: to my messages online or you listen to this podcast,
- 44:06Speaker 1: I didn't go to seminary, Okay, I don't have an
- 44:08Speaker 1: education in a formal manner, and to some groups of
- 44:12Speaker 1: people that would completely you know the fine. I can't
- 44:15Speaker 1: listen to this guy because he didn't go to seminary.
- 44:17Speaker 1: But you know what, I've also met the people who
- 44:19Speaker 1: went to seminary. I met people in the military that
- 44:22Speaker 1: had had their masters in theology and people that went
- 44:26Speaker 1: to seminary. And not only do they not display the fruit,
- 44:29Speaker 1: they're not even following God. Okay, now they might do
- 44:33Speaker 1: better on like a difficult test of theology or a
- 44:39Speaker 1: test of the Bible. They might answer questions better than me,
- 44:42Speaker 1: But who is living it differently?
- 44:43Speaker 2: Right?
- 44:44Speaker 1: And so just because you know, like this is what
- 44:47Speaker 1: I'm this is what I'm resetting here to know the truth,
- 44:50Speaker 1: It's not just having the information in your head. Jesus said,
- 44:54Speaker 1: turn away from me. I never knew you. And what
- 44:57Speaker 1: he's saying is not that I didn't have knowledge of you.
- 44:59Speaker 1: Of course, God knows all of us, knows the hairs
- 45:01Speaker 1: on our head. Said he never let you, never let
- 45:03Speaker 1: me change who you are. To know the truth isn't
- 45:06Speaker 1: to be able to pass the test, to get the
- 45:08Speaker 1: right answer on the test, but that you've lived it
- 45:11Speaker 1: and when I have lived the truth, when I've walked
- 45:13Speaker 1: in it, and to walk in it, you're gonna have
- 45:15Speaker 1: to have some faith. You've got to test it. It's like, man, yeah,
- 45:19Speaker 1: I know this is what God's word says, but taking
- 45:22Speaker 1: this next step is going to be scary. When you
- 45:24Speaker 1: have done that, when you've had some faithful courage and
- 45:27Speaker 1: you've tested the truth, you know how hard it's going
- 45:30Speaker 1: to be to manipulate you. But if you are a
- 45:34Speaker 1: fearful person, it's like, man, I know this what the
- 45:36Speaker 1: Bible says, but that seems scary. And this option over here,
- 45:39Speaker 1: you know they're making a really good offer. You're going
- 45:42Speaker 1: to get manipulated over and over and over again. And
- 45:45Speaker 1: so I would just summarize this by saying, you've got
- 45:48Speaker 1: to know the truth. But to know the truth means
- 45:50Speaker 1: not only do you have the information, but that you've
- 45:53Speaker 1: lived in it, you've had some courage to walk with it.
- 45:56Speaker 1: And it's Colossians chapter two, verse six, threugh eight. Therefore,
- 45:59Speaker 1: just as you have received Christ, Jesus is the Lord,
- 46:03Speaker 1: continue to walk in him, rooted and built up in him,
- 46:06Speaker 1: established in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing
- 46:10Speaker 1: with thankfulness. See to it. Okay, what does that mean.
- 46:14Speaker 1: It means it's your job. Yeah, see to it that
- 46:17Speaker 1: no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception,
- 46:22Speaker 1: which are based on human tradition and the spiritual forces
- 46:25Speaker 1: of the world rather than on Christ. Okay, if it's
- 46:30Speaker 1: in Christ, if you're walking with God, if you're living
- 46:34Speaker 1: who he is and what He's called us to, and
- 46:36Speaker 1: you've seen the fruit of that in your life, you're
- 46:38Speaker 1: going to be very hard to manipulate.
- 46:40Speaker 2: Yeah, this one gee of know the truth is such
- 46:43Speaker 2: a sobering one because it's not I don't I don't
- 46:46Speaker 2: think it always. It definitely doesn't feel good all the
- 46:48Speaker 2: time because just think because when you when you you
- 46:51Speaker 2: gave some examples, and it's just hit me. I think
- 46:53Speaker 2: about how many people out there want good things. They
- 46:56Speaker 2: want to please God, they want to make more money,
- 46:58Speaker 2: they want to have a better marriage. And so what
- 47:01Speaker 2: that does is that sets you up for like, Hey,
- 47:03Speaker 2: I've got you know, a fourteen day program that's going
- 47:05Speaker 2: to give you the marriage of your dreams. I've got
- 47:08Speaker 2: you know this investment that's going to give you ten
- 47:10Speaker 2: X and all these different things are Hey, I've got this,
- 47:13Speaker 2: this this deliverance thing that's going to make you instantly
- 47:16Speaker 2: never want to sin it again.
- 47:17Speaker 1: Remember the people who if you're seeking me how to
- 47:20Speaker 1: change your marriage in fourteen days, you're in the category
- 47:23Speaker 1: of I want to change more than I want to
- 47:25Speaker 1: know the truth?
- 47:26Speaker 2: Right, And but that's what I'm saying. But these things
- 47:28Speaker 2: come from a good place. And that's like, like I said,
- 47:31Speaker 2: I want to please God. Well I've got this deliverance thing.
- 47:33Speaker 2: You come to it, and then when you're done, like man,
- 47:35Speaker 2: you just won't want to sin anymore. Here's all these examples.
- 47:37Speaker 1: Of people are the people who are the people who
- 47:39Speaker 1: actually get healthy. They're the people who go to their
- 47:41Speaker 1: doctor and the doctor says, well, here, just take this
- 47:43Speaker 1: and say, no, it's not what I asked, Right, what's
- 47:46Speaker 1: the root of the problem, correct? Why am I having
- 47:48Speaker 1: to come see you in the first place. I know,
- 47:50Speaker 1: I know you're saying, if I take that pill, it'll
- 47:52Speaker 1: make my pain go away. But why do I have
- 47:54Speaker 1: the pain in the first place? Those are the people
- 47:56Speaker 1: who get healthy, And that's the mindset that you have
- 47:58Speaker 1: to have if you want health and free them in
- 48:00Speaker 1: any area of your life.
- 48:01Speaker 2: Yeah, because what truth would tell you whenever all those
- 48:03Speaker 2: things pop up, is you would go like, you know what,
- 48:05Speaker 2: God's a god a process God. God's a God of eternity,
- 48:08Speaker 2: which means it could take a lifetime. God's God of principle. Okay,
- 48:12Speaker 2: God gave me a body? How do I strengthen it?
- 48:14Speaker 2: While I eat, I breathe, I drink water. I do
- 48:16Speaker 2: these things every day. So how else am I going
- 48:18Speaker 2: to change by doing little things all the time. And
- 48:21Speaker 2: it's the same for finances. It's the same for your marriage.
- 48:23Speaker 2: You know how your marriage is going to get better.
- 48:25Speaker 2: You are going to get better, right, you have better ingredients,
- 48:28Speaker 2: you get a better outcome as far as the actual
- 48:30Speaker 2: dish that you prepare, it's the same for your marriage.
- 48:33Speaker 2: The ingredients matter. And that, like I said in the moment,
- 48:35Speaker 2: that feels terrible because what it means is it's not
- 48:37Speaker 2: going to be instant. But man, if you can actually
- 48:40Speaker 2: understand the truth, like you said, now, you're not going
- 48:42Speaker 2: to be manipulated and you're actually on the road to
- 48:44Speaker 2: real change. So what's number three?
- 48:46Speaker 1: G So these first two are the big ones. Okay,
- 48:49Speaker 1: guard your heart, know the truth, do that every single day.
- 48:53Speaker 2: And you said this, and I want to say it again,
- 48:55Speaker 2: you're literally just going the opposite of because remember the
- 48:57Speaker 2: manipulation blueprint is what do you want most? Well, we
- 48:59Speaker 2: said guard your heart from what you want most. The
- 49:01Speaker 2: next one is twisting truth? So what was the actual
- 49:04Speaker 2: not to be really not to be manipulated? Know the truth?
- 49:07Speaker 1: Yeah, so I just I'm just highlighting when you know,
- 49:10Speaker 1: the same way that Satan tried to twist the truth
- 49:13Speaker 1: to Jesus, and Jesus split the truth back to him.
- 49:15Speaker 2: Right.
- 49:16Speaker 1: He didn't just know what it says, he knew what
- 49:18Speaker 1: it meant. Right.
- 49:19Speaker 2: And so if number three of manipulation is tie in
- 49:22Speaker 2: some emotion, what's number three for not to be?
- 49:24Speaker 1: Number three is equanimity. Okay, we have an entire episode
- 49:28Speaker 1: on this, Nicole, tell you what it is here in
- 49:31Speaker 1: just a second. You should see the look on his
- 49:32Speaker 1: face right now. But Proverbs, let me just give you
- 49:36Speaker 1: a couple of scriptures, and I'm going to talk about
- 49:37Speaker 1: equanimity briefly, but we have a whole episode on this.
- 49:40Speaker 1: Proverbs twenty five, verse twenty eight, A man without self
- 49:44Speaker 1: control is like a city broken into and left without walls.
- 49:49Speaker 1: A man without self control, Remember we talked about guard
- 49:52Speaker 1: your heart. If you are someone that does not have
- 49:55Speaker 1: self control, you are a man without walls. Things are
- 49:59Speaker 1: just penetrate, reading into your mind and into your heart.
- 50:03Speaker 1: Proverbs sixteen thirty two. Whoever is slow to anger is
- 50:08Speaker 1: better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit
- 50:13Speaker 1: than he who takes the city. You have to be
- 50:15Speaker 1: able to govern yourself, and one of those is equanimity. Okay,
- 50:19Speaker 1: what is equanimity? Equanimity? It is self governance. Equanimity is
- 50:23Speaker 1: what it's two words together, aqueous animity. These two things
- 50:29Speaker 1: means calm mind. That you can keep yourself any calm mind,
- 50:33Speaker 1: not over elated or over depressed. Is the way it's
- 50:36Speaker 1: defined that you don't get too excited and like freaked
- 50:38Speaker 1: out about something because you know what, Like I can
- 50:40Speaker 1: manipulate you through pain, I can also manipulate you through
- 50:43Speaker 1: pleasure or excitement. Oh man, I just thought it was
- 50:45Speaker 1: such a good deal. Yeah, you just sold your soul
- 50:48Speaker 1: son right. You bought off on the wrong product because
- 50:50Speaker 1: you were too excited. You have to be able to
- 50:53Speaker 1: calm your mind, at least if you're going to be
- 50:55Speaker 1: in a decision mode. Maybe you just need you know,
- 50:58Speaker 1: you're a hype person. You want to feel some don't
- 51:00Speaker 1: be making it. You know, you gotta take the decision making.
- 51:03Speaker 1: Leave your wallet at home if you're gonna go hype.
- 51:09Speaker 1: Leave your wallet at home if you're going to go
- 51:11Speaker 1: to the hype conference, right right. But essentially you have
- 51:13Speaker 1: to have a calm mind. Equanimity they taught us and
- 51:16Speaker 1: the Seal teams is where this word came from. There's
- 51:19Speaker 1: not a lot of ten dollars words in the ninety
- 51:20Speaker 1: but this was one of them. Equanimity for us as
- 51:22Speaker 1: you don't panic when you're getting shot at, right, okay,
- 51:25Speaker 1: because you know what that is. If I'm shooting at you,
- 51:29Speaker 1: I'm trying to manipulate you. I want you to run
- 51:31Speaker 1: away from me. I'm gonna shoot at you, okay. And
- 51:34Speaker 1: literally what you have to be able to do is Okay,
- 51:36Speaker 1: I know my training, I know my mission, I know
- 51:38Speaker 1: what I'm capable of. I know I've got cover in
- 51:40Speaker 1: front of me, and I'm gonna kneel here behind this cover,
- 51:43Speaker 1: take a second, come up with a plan, and I'm
- 51:45Speaker 1: gonna maneuver on the enemy. They're shooting at me. They're
- 51:47Speaker 1: trying to manipulate me to run away, and I'm going
- 51:49Speaker 1: to continue to do what I know to do. That
- 51:51Speaker 1: is the power of equanimity. Yeah, I'm going to run
- 51:53Speaker 1: towards the gunfire.
- 51:54Speaker 2: Episode fifty eight. We also don't recommend running towards gunfire
- 51:57Speaker 2: if you're not heavily trained. So just as I know,
- 52:00Speaker 2: all right, So episode fifty eight was equanimity. That was
- 52:02Speaker 2: number three g number four in the mapulation.
- 52:05Speaker 1: Last last here, last step is to test it right
- 52:09Speaker 1: first Thessalonians, chapter five, verse twenty one. But test everything
- 52:16Speaker 1: that is said, hold on to what is good? Okay?
- 52:19Speaker 1: What does it mean to test this word? And the
- 52:21Speaker 1: new testament is to is docamo? And I've talked about
- 52:25Speaker 1: this before. The DoCoMo was a person back then who
- 52:28Speaker 1: tested counterfeit money. He would take it. It looks like it,
- 52:31Speaker 1: Let me test it and see if it's true, right, okay?
- 52:33Speaker 1: And okay? To do how do you test something? Well,
- 52:36Speaker 1: you're gonna have to know the truth first, and you're
- 52:39Speaker 1: also gonna have to be able to say what does
- 52:40Speaker 1: the truth produce? Here? What is the fruit of a
- 52:43Speaker 1: good tree? Right? Man? An apple tree might look like
- 52:46Speaker 1: a really good tree. It might look all healthy, The
- 52:49Speaker 1: apple might look good, but you know what good fruit is?
- 52:51Speaker 1: So I'm gonna walk up to this thing and cut it open.
- 52:53Speaker 1: Looks all right, let me take a bite. Okay, that's
- 52:55Speaker 1: a good tree. Right. You know how to test something.
- 52:58Speaker 1: You want to say, well it looks like it, or
- 53:00Speaker 1: well this guy knows a lot about apple trees and
- 53:02Speaker 1: he said it's a good tree. No, test it, yeah,
- 53:06Speaker 1: test it. This is where so many people get misled.
- 53:10Speaker 1: They outsource the work that they're called to do. Right.
- 53:13Speaker 1: It's like, well this guy said, or you know the other.
- 53:16Speaker 1: It's the question your parents ask you all the time
- 53:19Speaker 1: if all your friends were jumping off a bridge, would
- 53:21Speaker 1: you jump off a bridge? And my response to my
- 53:25Speaker 1: parents often was well, I'm usually the first one to
- 53:27Speaker 1: jump off a bridge and they're all following me.
- 53:31Speaker 2: I reject your entire.
- 53:32Speaker 1: Premise, but test everything that is said, hold on to
- 53:39Speaker 1: what is good or as my dad said, Dad would say,
- 53:42Speaker 1: if the shoe fits, wear it. And so we'll talk
- 53:46Speaker 1: about this more. As I was getting into this point,
- 53:48Speaker 1: I was like, you know what, I'm going to talk
- 53:49Speaker 1: about testing more. So I'm not going to get into
- 53:51Speaker 1: all of it today. But you've got to test the word.
- 53:55Speaker 1: You've got to test the fruit of what people are saying,
- 53:58Speaker 1: And how are you going to be able to do that?
- 53:59Speaker 1: Because because you know the word like literally, you know
- 54:02Speaker 1: what the scriptures say about what is right, about what
- 54:05Speaker 1: is true. And I'll tell you another way that you're
- 54:07Speaker 1: going to be able to test is have good people
- 54:10Speaker 1: around you. Be a part of a good community. Okay.
- 54:13Speaker 1: You can't know everything, you can't do everything. Be on
- 54:16Speaker 1: a great team where you know what I may not like,
- 54:19Speaker 1: for example, if I wanted to, like, I'm pretty sharp,
- 54:22Speaker 1: but I don't know everything as it relates to marketing, okay,
- 54:26Speaker 1: especially like the technical side of marketing. Now, the principle
- 54:30Speaker 1: and philosophy side of marketing, I'm pretty good there, but
- 54:33Speaker 1: there's also there's a technical side. It's like I don't
- 54:35Speaker 1: have this skill set. Okay, And I know Nick. I
- 54:38Speaker 1: know Nick is a person, I know Nick's character. I
- 54:41Speaker 1: also know the fruit of what Nick has produced in business.
- 54:43Speaker 1: So you know what I can do. I can just
- 54:45Speaker 1: ask Nick. Right, That is a practical example of how
- 54:48Speaker 1: I can test something. Now what I do like more
- 54:51Speaker 1: than me trying to like Nick might show me the
- 54:53Speaker 1: math of like the technical side of marketing, and I'm
- 54:56Speaker 1: not smart enough to know. But I know Nick I
- 54:59Speaker 1: knows character, and I've seen what Nick is already produced.
- 55:03Speaker 1: Now I can have him help test, help me test something. Okay,
- 55:07Speaker 1: So have great people around you, be a part of
- 55:09Speaker 1: a great community. You can use this to test any
- 55:12Speaker 1: wisdom in your life. Test things in marriage, test things
- 55:14Speaker 1: in business. Decide that you're going to be someone that's
- 55:18Speaker 1: not going to be manipulated. And I would just I'm
- 55:21Speaker 1: not going to paraphrase all the points here, but I
- 55:23Speaker 1: would just remind you with all diligence, guard your heart.
- 55:27Speaker 1: Don't let things creep into your mind. Don't let things
- 55:29Speaker 1: creep into your life without you having a clear understanding
- 55:32Speaker 1: of where does this want to take me? What does
- 55:34Speaker 1: this want to do to me? You need to know
- 55:36Speaker 1: who you are, You need to know who God is.
- 55:38Speaker 1: You need to know what you want and decide you're
- 55:40Speaker 1: not going to be someone who can be manipulated.
