- 0:10Speaker 2: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 0:41Speaker 2: What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown.
- 0:42Speaker 3: I am Brian. I am Misty. I'm Jay.
- 0:44Speaker 1: I'm Marlena.
- 0:46Speaker 2: All right.
- 0:47Speaker 3: I have a hollow spot on me. Yeah, we have
- 0:50Speaker 3: two sick members today.
- 1:03Speaker 4: Sick or hungover?
- 1:04Speaker 3: Sick is how I was told.
- 1:06Speaker 4: I'm not hungover.
- 1:08Speaker 3: One was sick, the other was taking care of them
- 1:10Speaker 3: or something to that effect.
- 1:11Speaker 5: Probably a nerve injury.
- 1:13Speaker 3: Oh, could be. You can put an eye out with
- 1:15Speaker 3: those things. I don't care what nerve says. You gotta
- 1:17Speaker 3: be careful with that shit. So, with that, I guess
- 1:20Speaker 3: we will roll on into this week's geek activities. I'm exhausted, really.
- 1:25Speaker 3: This whole last three days has been non-stop and I
- 1:29Speaker 3: kind of need a nap right about now. What are
- 1:31Speaker 3: the movies for? Yeah, I guess.
- 1:33Speaker 4: If you can nap through this movie.
- 1:35Speaker 3: But I like this movie. Anyway, so, yeah, this past weekend,
- 1:39Speaker 3: I was at the Flyover Film Fest, and every day
- 1:43Speaker 3: I was there, pretty much. So, piecing together our show
- 1:46Speaker 3: for next week. So, yeah, most of it you'll probably
- 1:50Speaker 3: get interview-wise next week, but... As far as the, you know,
- 1:55Speaker 3: stories from it, about the best one, I talked to
- 1:58Speaker 3: a few of the directors and stuff, and that was cool,
- 2:00Speaker 3: but the one I was going to go with, the
- 2:02Speaker 3: most entertaining of the stories, was I talked to director
- 2:05Speaker 3: John Stalberg Jr., we'll just skip ahead a little bit.
- 2:09Speaker 3: We went to his, um, hotel. He took his shirt off.
- 2:17Speaker 3: I was going to go with this story because the
- 2:19Speaker 3: more I thought about it, I was like, if I,
- 2:20Speaker 3: if I told that wrong, it would come off really weird.
- 2:22Speaker 3: All that's true, by the way. Um, we, yeah.
- 2:26Speaker 4: Did he have moves or was he okay?
- 2:28Speaker 3: No, he was actually pretty ripped. So yeah, he's in shape.
- 2:31Speaker 4: That's good for him.
- 2:31Speaker 3: Good for you, I guess.
- 2:32Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 2:34Speaker 3: I was trying not to look. I realized that midway in,
- 2:36Speaker 3: you got that locker room reaction where you're a guy,
- 2:38Speaker 3: other guys get naked, you're just like, whatever, I don't
- 2:40Speaker 3: want to see this shit. So I immediately, you know,
- 2:42Speaker 3: knee jerk reaction wasn't really paying attention, but, uh, I
- 2:46Speaker 3: thought it was funny. So yeah. Um, I've got a
- 2:49Speaker 3: picture of him in the shirt afterwards that he changed into.
- 2:52Speaker 3: So to clarify this little story, um, yeah, he, I
- 2:57Speaker 3: was talking to him at the premiere the night before and, uh,
- 3:00Speaker 3: he had a bunch of stuff going on. There was
- 3:01Speaker 3: all these people around him. So he's like, ah, we'll
- 3:03Speaker 3: just do the interview tomorrow at the hotel. So I'm like, okay,
- 3:06Speaker 3: it's right up the street, which he was at 21C,
- 3:09Speaker 3: which if anyone, you know, bothers to come in this area,
- 3:11Speaker 3: 21C is quite entertaining.
- 3:13Speaker 4: Is that where the pajama party was?
- 3:15Speaker 3: That's what it was. So yeah, it's a weird museum
- 3:18Speaker 3: slash hotel. So it's pretty entertaining. It's very different than
- 3:22Speaker 3: normal hotels. It's not boring like normal hotels, but they
- 3:25Speaker 3: also go out of their way to be weird and
- 3:27Speaker 3: wacky because they think they're cool. So on that note,
- 3:30Speaker 3: that's what this weekend, which I didn't realize it. And
- 3:33Speaker 3: it's kind of awesome because I walked in and I'm
- 3:35Speaker 3: standing there at the elevator and I got to say
- 3:38Speaker 3: to myself, sadly, because nobody else was around. So most
- 3:40Speaker 3: of my comments are myself. I said, damn, nobody told
- 3:43Speaker 3: me it was a pajama jammy jam.
- 3:45Speaker 7: Oh, Lord.
- 3:46Speaker 3: Kids, anybody out there, try to work in the phrase
- 3:48Speaker 3: pajama jammy jam as many times as possible.
- 3:50Speaker 8: I think I'm never going to use that phrase ever.
- 3:52Speaker 8: I'm just going to wash it from my brain.
- 3:54Speaker 3: I'm telling kid and play. You are not cool, man.
- 3:57Speaker 4: I am not cool.
- 3:57Speaker 7: I was going to say that or.
- 3:59Speaker 3: Bananas in pajamas. Dude, house party two.
- 4:01Speaker 9: Okay.
- 4:02Speaker 10: Come on.
- 4:02Speaker 3: Get with it. Anyway, so... I have no idea.
- 4:05Speaker 7: You know I make references to Kingdom Play all the time,
- 4:08Speaker 7: but I've never actually seen any of the House Party movies.
- 4:10Speaker 4: Me neither.
- 4:10Speaker 7: That makes me like the worst kind of poser possible.
- 4:13Speaker 3: I just know the hair. Nobody wants to watch House Party.
- 4:16Speaker 3: But I at least know Pajama Jammy Jam. So, yeah,
- 4:20Speaker 3: that's what they were doing. They had some sort of
- 4:21Speaker 3: weird pajama party going on, and they were scamming, I mean, selling...
- 4:27Speaker 3: pajamas they were like hand looming pajamas out in the
- 4:31Speaker 3: front of the lobby there which was kind of cool
- 4:34Speaker 3: but at the same time yeah the girls were working.
- 4:36Speaker 5: Looming where they have a bunch of shakers out there making.
- 4:39Speaker 3: Pajamas i don't know what they were doing it was
- 4:41Speaker 3: this we i mean they were well made by the
- 4:43Speaker 3: time they were done but i mean they were sitting
- 4:45Speaker 3: in the front and making these things to order they
- 4:47Speaker 3: were out there like measuring people when i got there
- 4:50Speaker 3: and then by the time he came down he was
- 4:51Speaker 3: like oh yeah i gotta go over here and pick
- 4:52Speaker 3: this up so he goes over to it And they're
- 4:54Speaker 3: giving him this thing, and first of all, they're scamming
- 4:57Speaker 3: him because they upcharged him. They told him one price,
- 4:59Speaker 3: and then they got there, and the girl's in their pajamas.
- 5:02Speaker 3: They know what they're doing. You can upcharge a little
- 5:04Speaker 3: better when you're a girl in your pajamas making a
- 5:06Speaker 3: sales pitch here. So suddenly it became a more complicated piece,
- 5:10Speaker 3: and they had to charge him more. So they also
- 5:12Speaker 3: were like, well, here, just try it on. He's like,
- 5:14Speaker 3: out here, and all right. He questioned it at first,
- 5:18Speaker 3: but then went along with it. So he's changing his
- 5:20Speaker 3: shirt out in the middle of the lobby of this hotel,
- 5:22Speaker 3: which I thought was pretty interesting.
- 5:23Speaker 7: So this guy just loves to take his shirt off
- 5:25Speaker 7: in public.
- 5:26Speaker 3: I don't know about that.
- 5:27Speaker 4: If you were ripped, wouldn't you? I don't know.
- 5:30Speaker 7: I would just not bother to put a shirt on
- 5:32Speaker 7: in the first place.
- 5:32Speaker 3: Again, I think he was just swayed by the girls
- 5:34Speaker 3: in their pajamas because they were like, no, it's fine.
- 5:36Speaker 3: They'll be all kind of nudity here later. They were
- 5:38Speaker 3: trying to sell the whole, you know, again, the craziness.
- 5:41Speaker 7: Of this hotel.
- 5:41Speaker 4: Well, if I'm done, it's going to be that kind
- 5:43Speaker 4: of party.
- 5:43Speaker 3: I might have actually said that, actually. So, yeah. So
- 5:47Speaker 3: it was a strange situation at that point. And then
- 5:50Speaker 3: he wore that pajama shirt the rest of the interview,
- 5:53Speaker 3: so that was kind of entertaining.
- 5:54Speaker 4: I guess he was comfy, I guess.
- 5:55Speaker 3: I have a picture of him posing, making a crazy
- 5:58Speaker 3: face in the pajama shirt that I think I'm going
- 6:00Speaker 3: to post as the photo for this one. Awesome. Because
- 6:03Speaker 3: it's an entertaining, and doesn't really look like a pajama shirt.
- 6:05Speaker 7: That's what I was wondering, what a hand-loomed... pajama outfit
- 6:10Speaker 7: would look like.
- 6:11Speaker 3: It's got a low neck and it's got super short sleeves,
- 6:14Speaker 3: so it doesn't really seem like a pajama shirt anyway,
- 6:16Speaker 3: but he decided it makes him look ripped, so he
- 6:18Speaker 3: was like, oh, this looks like I actually lift. This
- 6:20Speaker 3: is awesome.
- 6:22Speaker 4: That's their new selling point.
- 6:24Speaker 3: Looks like scrubs. I know, yeah. It was like a
- 6:27Speaker 3: really thick material version of a scrub shirt. It was weird.
- 6:31Speaker 6: Didn't have cartoon animals on it, because most of the
- 6:33Speaker 6: scrub shirts I see have cartoon animals.
- 6:34Speaker 3: These days, that's what it's come to. Thankfully, he didn't
- 6:37Speaker 3: have Tweety Birds or anything on it.
- 6:39Speaker 5: These are OR scrubs.
- 6:42Speaker 3: So, yeah, it was actually kind of an interesting situation.
- 6:46Speaker 3: They were setting up the whole party out in the
- 6:48Speaker 3: street there, which had nothing to do with the thing
- 6:50Speaker 3: I was in, so I just passed by it and
- 6:51Speaker 3: went back to the film festival and loitered around the
- 6:53Speaker 3: rest of the weekend. So, yeah, we'll get to his
- 6:56Speaker 3: actual interview. John's actually really cool and had a lot
- 6:58Speaker 3: of good stories, so we'll get to his full interview,
- 7:01Speaker 3: but I'll go to my geek activity of the week,
- 7:04Speaker 3: aside from loitering around the film fest, was I did
- 7:08Speaker 3: sit down and watch one movie in its entirety... The
- 7:11Speaker 3: sad part is I was there the whole weekend. I
- 7:12Speaker 3: didn't really get to see pretty much any of the
- 7:14Speaker 3: other movies. I saw part of one, but yeah, the
- 7:17Speaker 3: rest of them, I was busy going back and forth
- 7:19Speaker 3: and missed most of them, which is what happens on
- 7:21Speaker 3: most of these film festivals, so it seems. But the
- 7:24Speaker 3: one I saw is called High School, and that's the
- 7:26Speaker 3: one that John directed, and it's actually really good. I
- 7:30Speaker 3: wasn't sure what to expect going in, but it's really funny,
- 7:34Speaker 3: and then on top of that, just kind of well
- 7:36Speaker 3: put together. I know you're already on board, Marlena. It's
- 7:39Speaker 3: got Adrian Brody in it, Yes. But in a way,
- 7:43Speaker 3: you've never seen Adrian Brody.
- 7:45Speaker 4: Is he in drag?
- 7:46Speaker 7: I was going to say.
- 7:47Speaker 4: Dressed as a woman.
- 7:48Speaker 3: No, I can actually see that more than this. Once
- 7:50Speaker 3: I saw him, I was like, holy shit. Well, he's
- 7:54Speaker 3: got cornrows. He's got cornrows. He's got tattoos covering his
- 7:59Speaker 3: entire body. He's like K-fed. He's got a gold tooth.
- 8:03Speaker 4: If he was like K-fed, he'd be fat.
- 8:05Speaker 7: That's true.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Oh, he's, yeah, it's a really interesting look for him.
- 8:12Speaker 3: And yet he totally sells it.
- 8:14Speaker 7: I can probably get behind the gold tooth and the
- 8:17Speaker 7: covered in tattoos thing, but I don't think I can
- 8:19Speaker 7: overlook the cornrows.
- 8:20Speaker 3: No, again, it works on this character. He totally commits
- 8:24Speaker 3: to this character, and it's amazing.
- 8:26Speaker 4: Were his cornrows better than Axel's?
- 8:29Speaker 3: Yeah, actually, they were, because Axel's are terrible. And blonde cornrows,
- 8:34Speaker 3: that's really bad. So I don't know. Especially fake barbed wire.
- 8:37Speaker 4: They were more red.
- 8:40Speaker 7: They were like strawberry blonde.
- 8:41Speaker 3: They were glued onto his head, I'm pretty sure.
- 8:43Speaker 7: Were they really?
- 8:44Speaker 4: Anyway.
- 8:45Speaker 3: I don't know. But no, Adrian Brody's awesome. The other
- 8:49Speaker 3: main thing that you'll be in shock is Michael Chiklis
- 8:52Speaker 3: is in it, which... if you know him from the shield,
- 8:55Speaker 3: if you know him as the thing in fantastic for you,
- 8:59Speaker 3: he's he's yeah. The commish he's, he's unrecognizable. You people
- 9:03Speaker 3: were walking up to him going, man, who's that character
- 9:06Speaker 3: actor you got to be? He is so, I mean,
- 9:08Speaker 3: he completely, they, they put this crazy hair on him anyway,
- 9:11Speaker 3: but just on top of that, his performance is one
- 9:14Speaker 3: 80 from anything I've ever seen him do before. He
- 9:17Speaker 3: is so good at it. So it's, I don't know.
- 9:21Speaker 3: It works in a lot of drug references, but I'll
- 9:24Speaker 3: say this is the main thing I noticed. It's very
- 9:27Speaker 3: different from any other weed movies. It's become its own
- 9:31Speaker 3: sub-genre at this point. The difference with this one is
- 9:34Speaker 3: you don't have to be high to actually think the
- 9:36Speaker 3: movie's funny, which is the difference. Most of the other
- 9:38Speaker 3: ones I've noticed, unless you're actually on something, really aren't
- 9:42Speaker 3: that funny. They're just kind of ridiculous, and that becomes
- 9:45Speaker 3: the comedy because you're stoned.
- 9:47Speaker 4: If it's half-baked, then it's never funny.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Yeah, that too. Well, that's the thing. A lot of
- 9:50Speaker 3: them I just don't think are funny, period. But maybe
- 9:53Speaker 3: if I was wasted, it would be different.
- 9:54Speaker 7: I think I watched Half-Baked when I was 13 and
- 9:57Speaker 7: I was really stoned and I thought it was like
- 9:58Speaker 7: the greatest movie ever.
- 9:59Speaker 11: You think? you go.
- 10:00Speaker 3: That's how most of those work. This one is just
- 10:03Speaker 3: really well written and well put together. And it's really
- 10:07Speaker 3: more of a, you know, story about these two guys' friendship. And,
- 10:10Speaker 3: you know, they're... situation that they get themselves in and
- 10:13Speaker 3: then it also works in a lot of like tension
- 10:15Speaker 3: he it's a well crafted script because they wanted to
- 10:18Speaker 3: make it more of a thriller about kids in high
- 10:21Speaker 3: school with weed and yeah they work in this really
- 10:24Speaker 3: good scenario of what they have to do and then
- 10:26Speaker 3: it becomes this whole day of them getting out of
- 10:28Speaker 3: one problem and into another, and it just sort of
- 10:30Speaker 3: takes the tension up every time. It's really well put together.
- 10:33Speaker 7: So it's like Reaper Madness minus the music?
- 10:36Speaker 4: And Kristen Bell being cute?
- 10:37Speaker 3: Well, that's the remake. But yeah, actually, in the interview,
- 10:40Speaker 3: I referenced that, because it has a very, this could
- 10:43Speaker 3: happen to you, you know, all it takes is one
- 10:45Speaker 3: joint to ruin your life kind of message to it.
- 10:47Speaker 3: And it's not, it doesn't totally mean it. Yeah, we'll
- 10:51Speaker 3: go into it in the interview next week. It takes it...
- 10:54Speaker 3: And it sort of puts a spin on it. But yeah,
- 10:56Speaker 3: it's got that feeling to it. So yeah, that was
- 11:00Speaker 3: the main thing I did. Are we going into yours
- 11:02Speaker 3: later this week?
- 11:03Speaker 6: Yeah, I guess.
- 11:04Speaker 3: I mean, that's pretty geeky. If you're going into it,
- 11:06Speaker 3: then I'll save mine. Yeah, my other thing is sort
- 11:08Speaker 3: of tied to yours. So we'll get to that later.
- 11:10Speaker 3: But for the most part, that's, yeah, I spent the
- 11:12Speaker 3: whole weekend. Even this morning, I was back over at
- 11:15Speaker 3: the Center for the Arts for the Film Fest. So yeah,
- 11:18Speaker 3: it's been quite a weekend of piecing together interviews and whatnot.
- 11:22Speaker 4: Is it my turn now?
- 11:23Speaker 7: Sure.
- 11:24Speaker 6: All right, I'll start off with the movies I watched.
- 11:26Speaker 6: I didn't watch very much stuff this week. I don't
- 11:27Speaker 6: think Jay watched anything.
- 11:29Speaker 5: I watched nothing. All I did was watch the time
- 11:31Speaker 5: clock at work.
- 11:33Speaker 6: I watched All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, which if
- 11:36Speaker 6: anybody knows, it's hard to find in the U.S.
- 11:38Speaker 4: You have to get copies.
- 11:40Speaker 3: That aren't... Special imported copies. Yeah, that's what it is.
- 11:44Speaker 3: That's what we're saying.
- 11:45Speaker 4: Yeah, I watched all the.
- 11:45Speaker 6: I think I liked it. I'm not entirely sure yet,
- 11:48Speaker 6: I think. I'm going to go back and watch it again.
- 11:51Speaker 6: But other than that, I came with... babysitter wanted which
- 11:56Speaker 6: again it seemed like it ripped off so many other
- 11:58Speaker 6: movies because it was kind of like um what's that
- 12:02Speaker 6: one we just watched um what's the name of that
- 12:04Speaker 6: movie where they had the babysitter that went out to
- 12:07Speaker 6: the house of the oh the house of the devil
- 12:10Speaker 6: house of the devil it had like it followed that
- 12:12Speaker 6: like up to a certain point and then it tried
- 12:14Speaker 6: to go a different way and it just it it
- 12:16Speaker 6: had bill mosley.
- 12:17Speaker 3: In it i'll give it that much is it like
- 12:19Speaker 3: this past year i think it's been within.
- 12:21Speaker 6: The past couple years i Who's in the movie?
- 12:24Speaker 4: It's got Bill Moseley in it, and that's about the
- 12:27Speaker 4: only person I can name.
- 12:27Speaker 7: In All the Boys Love Mandy Lynn?
- 12:29Speaker 4: In All the Boys Love Mandy Lynn has Amanda Heard.
- 12:31Speaker 4: Amanda Heard, she was the chick in.
- 12:33Speaker 6: She was the neighbor in Zombieland before she tried.
- 12:36Speaker 7: To eat him.
- 12:37Speaker 3: That's right. Oh, yeah, yeah. I forgot that was her
- 12:40Speaker 3: guest starring role.
- 12:41Speaker 6: Well, yeah, because in All the Boys Love Mandy Lynn,
- 12:43Speaker 6: she plays the girl that, of course, she's the virginal
- 12:45Speaker 6: girl that every guy wants. She actually comes off really
- 12:49Speaker 6: well as not being too aware that she's the hot chick.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Which is good. Otherwise, you hate her.
- 12:54Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, she's not like, you know, Megan Fox
- 12:56Speaker 6: couldn't have pulled that shit off.
- 12:58Speaker 4: A lot of chicks these days will have been like, yeah,
- 13:00Speaker 4: I'm hot, whatever. But she actually manages.
- 13:01Speaker 6: To pull off the unawareness of it, which is kind
- 13:03Speaker 6: of impressive for me because she shouldn't come off like
- 13:07Speaker 6: cocky or anything.
- 13:09Speaker 4: I liked it, and it.
- 13:09Speaker 6: Just had a weird ending that I'm not even sure
- 13:12Speaker 6: I understand yet.
- 13:13Speaker 4: I'll go back and watch it again. It's not that selective.
- 13:15Speaker 4: I just want to understand the motives behind it, and
- 13:17Speaker 4: I'll go back into that later, but whatever.
- 13:19Speaker 6: But yeah, I guess my big major geek activity for
- 13:21Speaker 6: the week was getting my Corey Haim leg tattoo, which
- 13:26Speaker 6: is pretty exciting. So I now have Corey Haim's face
- 13:29Speaker 6: on my leg. We have conversations and all is well
- 13:33Speaker 6: in the world, so happy days.
- 13:35Speaker 3: As I said, you completely retain your title as Queen
- 13:38Speaker 3: of the Geeks.
- 13:39Speaker 4: Well, everybody has a Cori Hanks tattoo.
- 13:40Speaker 3: No, no, they don't. That was the other part of mine.
- 13:43Speaker 3: In the middle of the midday of the.
- 13:45Speaker 4: We got Brian to get filming on his leg.
- 13:47Speaker 3: No, thank you, no. I did go and get inked myself,
- 13:51Speaker 3: but mine's not even dorky, so I won't even go
- 13:53Speaker 3: into it. But yeah, that was just to add to the...
- 13:56Speaker 3: ongoing battle that this weekend was in the middle of
- 13:59Speaker 3: that day I had to get up and drive out
- 14:01Speaker 3: to there get that done and then drive back and
- 14:03Speaker 3: go immediately to the film fest so yeah it was
- 14:06Speaker 3: kind of out of control.
- 14:07Speaker 6: Good times but yeah that's about all the geek activity
- 14:09Speaker 6: we had I think yeah I spent most.
- 14:12Speaker 3: Of the time at work always fun yeah I hate work.
- 14:17Speaker 12: Actually I don't I like my work I just don't
- 14:19Speaker 12: like being there all damn day so good.
- 14:23Speaker 6: Times hmm Most of my week was spent keeping Corey
- 14:26Speaker 6: well lubricated.
- 14:29Speaker 4: Whoa.
- 14:29Speaker 3: I didn't know it was going to be.
- 14:32Speaker 4: That kind of party. Andy. Keep him gooey.
- 14:37Speaker 8: Okay.
- 14:41Speaker 4: That's all I got.
- 14:42Speaker 3: All right.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Moving on.
- 14:44Speaker 7: Oh, well, I watched a couple of movies this week.
- 14:47Speaker 7: I watched, um, the fantastic Mr.
- 14:50Speaker 6: Fox.
- 14:50Speaker 4: Yeah, it was pretty good.
- 14:52Speaker 7: It was another one of those, uh, You'd think it's
- 14:54Speaker 7: a children's movie, but it has adult subject matter, which
- 14:57Speaker 7: I love, as we all know.
- 14:59Speaker 3: With that director, yeah. He's always got adult subject matter.
- 15:04Speaker 7: I didn't know it was directed by Wes Anderson until
- 15:06Speaker 7: I happened to catch it at the end of the movie.
- 15:07Speaker 7: I don't know how I didn't know that, but I didn't.
- 15:10Speaker 4: George Clooney's wonderful. I love George Clooney.
- 15:12Speaker 7: Even just his voice is fantastic. Yeah.
- 15:14Speaker 3: Well, that's another one I give him credit. There's somebody
- 15:15Speaker 3: who actually did the movie. He actually went in and
- 15:20Speaker 3: was there painstakingly being there hands-on, I think, for a
- 15:24Speaker 3: lot of it, doing the stop-motion animation.
- 15:27Speaker 7: I really enjoyed the animation. I don't think stop-motion is
- 15:30Speaker 7: used enough anymore.
- 15:31Speaker 1: No.
- 15:31Speaker 3: Stop-motion.
- 15:32Speaker 5: Yeah, it's one of those things. You never can get
- 15:35Speaker 5: that feel with CG.
- 15:37Speaker 12: CG's okay, and I guess maybe it's easier for me
- 15:39Speaker 12: to do a lot more elaborate sets, but there's just
- 15:42Speaker 12: something about stop-motion that just I don't know.
- 15:45Speaker 3: You can't reproduce it with a computer.
- 15:47Speaker 7: And I just have an obsession with miniature things, like
- 15:53Speaker 7: mini models of towns and houses and things like that.
- 15:56Speaker 7: So knowing that that's what all that stuff is makes
- 15:59Speaker 7: me really excited.
- 15:59Speaker 3: And how did you not like Night of the Leaping?
- 16:04Speaker 4: Nobody like but it's nothing but little sets.
- 16:07Speaker 7: Which my grandfather built.
- 16:10Speaker 3: I know you should really like.
- 16:12Speaker 10: Bunnies yeah no okay i just thought that was funny
- 16:17Speaker 10: yeah i think that's why i mean i never met
- 16:20Speaker 10: my grandpa he died in like 77 but maybe that's
- 16:22Speaker 10: why i have an obsession with like building models and
- 16:25Speaker 10: not like.
- 16:25Speaker 7: I build models but like i mean i have before
- 16:29Speaker 7: but i'm not like a model building person you could
- 16:33Speaker 7: i could you.
- 16:34Speaker 6: Could build your own little village and pretend you're godzilla
- 16:36Speaker 6: and go through and smash it wouldn't that be awesome.
- 16:38Speaker 7: That would be totally rad no um i've thought about
- 16:42Speaker 7: building a little town that looks like tokyo inside uh
- 16:46Speaker 7: one of my friend's lizard cages because his lizards will
- 16:49Speaker 7: get mad and just whip their tails and knock everything.
- 16:51Speaker 4: Over that is That would be fantastic.
- 16:54Speaker 7: It would be. But, yeah, I really enjoyed Fantastic Mr. Fox.
- 16:57Speaker 7: I've never read the story, so I can't compare it
- 17:00Speaker 7: to that. I know a lot of people are, like,
- 17:03Speaker 7: not wanting to see it because, you know.
- 17:06Speaker 3: The book's different. Just get over it. I say that
- 17:08Speaker 3: most of the time.
- 17:10Speaker 7: I also watched Paranormal Activity, which when I saw a
- 17:13Speaker 7: previews for it, I was like, this looks really fucking retarded.
- 17:16Speaker 7: So I never bothered, but my friend was telling me
- 17:19Speaker 7: that it was really good. And I mean, I don't
- 17:21Speaker 7: always trust her opinions, but I was at her house
- 17:25Speaker 7: and they were going to buy it online. on demand
- 17:29Speaker 7: and it was six it's six dollars to buy a
- 17:32Speaker 7: movie through your cable company.
- 17:35Speaker 4: Which is ridiculous which.
- 17:36Speaker 7: It's netflix is like nine dollars a month and you
- 17:39Speaker 7: can rent a movie everywhere else in the world for
- 17:41Speaker 7: a dollar but it's six dollars really screw that yeah but.
- 17:44Speaker 6: People that are extra lazy that can't make it down
- 17:46Speaker 6: to their local red.
- 17:47Speaker 7: Box they live in greenville which is about 30 miles
- 17:50Speaker 7: away from even like a gas.
- 17:51Speaker 4: Station so that's what you get for living in green yeah.
- 17:54Speaker 7: But I was really surprised. I really liked it. Up
- 17:58Speaker 7: until the end, it ended stupid. And it was five
- 18:01Speaker 7: seconds of it ending really stupidly. But it was subtle
- 18:06Speaker 7: enough to be... I mean, not that it was ever
- 18:08Speaker 7: believable or anything like that. But it was subtle and
- 18:11Speaker 7: just like little hints of things that made it kind
- 18:13Speaker 7: of creepy, you know? It was like... Blair Witch Project
- 18:17Speaker 7: done well yeah I've.
- 18:18Speaker 3: Heard really good things and they changed that and there's
- 18:21Speaker 3: been like three different endings over the last couple of
- 18:24Speaker 3: years of it going through this process and I think
- 18:26Speaker 3: the one you saw that you didn't like was uh
- 18:28Speaker 3: suggested by Spielberg probably when he came on to be
- 18:31Speaker 3: you know super executive producer whatever he did at that
- 18:34Speaker 3: point he suggested that ending if I remember.
- 18:36Speaker 7: Which it was just five seconds that was totally stupid
- 18:38Speaker 7: had I it's turned my head that part I would
- 18:41Speaker 7: have been like wow I was really surprised that was
- 18:43Speaker 7: a great movie but I wouldn't necessarily say great but
- 18:47Speaker 7: surprisingly good and relatively creepy I think what made it
- 18:50Speaker 7: work was the characters were funny like the guy his
- 18:53Speaker 7: name is Mika I just like to say Mika he
- 18:58Speaker 7: was funny he always had like funny things to say
- 19:00Speaker 7: and they were just like a natural couple and I
- 19:05Speaker 7: mean It also helped that I didn't recognize them from anything.
- 19:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:09Speaker 7: So, you know, it kind of ruins it. You know,
- 19:11Speaker 7: after watching the Blair Witch Project and seeing that girl
- 19:14Speaker 7: on Steak and Shake commercials, kind of like, you didn't
- 19:17Speaker 7: die in the forest.
- 19:20Speaker 4: I think the movie was way overhyped for me to
- 19:22Speaker 4: want to see it.
- 19:22Speaker 7: It was. I still have no.
- 19:23Speaker 4: Desire to see it.
- 19:24Speaker 6: I keep hearing comparisons to it's like watching Ghost Hunters or...
- 19:28Speaker 6: like any of those stupid paranormal shows that always drive
- 19:32Speaker 6: me insane like that one show with that one guy
- 19:34Speaker 6: who I want to punch in the face.
- 19:35Speaker 7: Anytime they feel like the wind blow they're like oh did.
- 19:38Speaker 3: You feel that it was a ghost I don't think
- 19:40Speaker 3: it's like.
- 19:40Speaker 7: That no Blair Witch Project I mean I didn't like
- 19:44Speaker 7: that movie Blair Witch Project but it was groundbreaking I
- 19:47Speaker 7: think I mean not a lot of movies had ever
- 19:48Speaker 7: done that and I mean if before it came out,
- 19:51Speaker 7: everyone was convinced it was real, which I guess maybe
- 19:54Speaker 7: if it had been real, it would have been more interesting.
- 19:56Speaker 7: It was still, even if it was real.
- 19:58Speaker 6: Or maybe if I hadn't found out it was fake
- 19:59Speaker 6: before I went and saw it, it might have been
- 20:01Speaker 6: more interesting.
- 20:01Speaker 5: Or maybe if it hadn't given me motion sickness in
- 20:04Speaker 5: the theater.
- 20:04Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah.
- 20:06Speaker 7: Good times yeah but paranormal activity activity activity is similar
- 20:12Speaker 7: uh because it's you know someone filming themselves but it
- 20:15Speaker 7: all takes place inside their house they don't ever leave
- 20:17Speaker 7: their house no safety cam there is sometimes but for
- 20:21Speaker 7: the most part the camera's on a tripod um they
- 20:24Speaker 7: show a lot of times what happens while they're sleeping
- 20:26Speaker 7: at night and it's just like simple stuff usually like
- 20:28Speaker 7: uh uh the door closing and stuff and they hear
- 20:33Speaker 7: noise noises and There's one part that was really creepy.
- 20:37Speaker 7: I think the creepiest part of the movie. Spoiler alert,
- 20:39Speaker 7: by the way. There's a point where she gets out
- 20:42Speaker 7: of bed and she just stands up and stares at
- 20:46Speaker 7: her boyfriend sleeping for three hours.
- 20:48Speaker 4: I do that all the time.
- 20:52Speaker 7: Creepy. And he watched the tape the next day. He
- 20:54Speaker 7: was like, what are you doing? doing why did you
- 20:56Speaker 7: do that you just got out of the bed and
- 20:58Speaker 7: stared at me for three hours like some weirdo yeah
- 21:01Speaker 7: it was pretty entertaining but i feel like i've talked
- 21:04Speaker 7: about it long enough so yeah i.
- 21:07Speaker 4: Only punch you in the back when you kick me
- 21:08Speaker 4: yeah he did.
- 21:10Speaker 8: He kicked my tattoo he kicked cory right in the
- 21:13Speaker 8: face so i punched him in the back.
- 21:15Speaker 5: I have a lot of violent dreams i.
- 21:18Speaker 7: I've had the weirdest dreams lately.
- 21:20Speaker 3: I don't have dreams i'm dead inside.
- 21:24Speaker 7: They've been really strange. Like last night I had a
- 21:26Speaker 7: dream about sleeping in the grass outside. Don't ask. The
- 21:31Speaker 7: night before, I had a dream about, and this sounds awful,
- 21:36Speaker 7: and I try to tell this to people, and they
- 21:38Speaker 7: freak out and think I'm like this horrible weirdo, but
- 21:41Speaker 7: it involved a baby in a microwave. No harm was
- 21:46Speaker 7: done to the baby. It was just wet, and someone
- 21:48Speaker 7: put it in a microwave to dry it off, and
- 21:50Speaker 7: it just spun around and left, and it came out,
- 21:52Speaker 7: and it was fine. Nothing bad happened.
- 21:54Speaker 4: Just don't shake the baby. Microwave it, but just don't
- 21:57Speaker 4: shake it. nothing bad happened.
- 21:58Speaker 3: I was just making the baby popcorn nothing.
- 22:01Speaker 8: Happened i know this is just weird many of your
- 22:03Speaker 8: friends are gonna let you babysit over again.
- 22:06Speaker 7: Now i don't know i have and i don't know
- 22:08Speaker 7: i had that dream and the night before i had
- 22:10Speaker 7: a dream i was shopping with my friend and he
- 22:11Speaker 7: pooped his pants.
- 22:12Speaker 2: At the store does he like to skateboard.
- 22:17Speaker 7: Did you see speaking of uh uh College Humor, Derek Humor.
- 22:23Speaker 7: Have you seen that their Mystery Team movie is out
- 22:26Speaker 7: on DVD?
- 22:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I've heard stuff with the director. He's actually kind
- 22:30Speaker 3: of crossing over and getting to be, like, a legitimate
- 22:32Speaker 3: filmmaker now. It's kind of scary.
- 22:33Speaker 7: Well, not just that. I'm pretty sure he was on
- 22:35Speaker 7: that show with Chevy Chase. I don't know if it
- 22:38Speaker 7: was canceled or not. Community?
- 22:39Speaker 4: Yeah, it's the same guy.
- 22:41Speaker 7: Yeah, and one of the other guys is on Saturday
- 22:43Speaker 7: Night Live now. The guy, remember the bro rape one?
- 22:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:48Speaker 7: That guy is on Saturday.
- 22:49Speaker 4: I love community because I love Joel McHale. I do
- 22:52Speaker 4: love Joel McHale. He's so cute.
- 22:54Speaker 7: I know. He's adorable.
- 22:55Speaker 3: I know.
- 22:56Speaker 4: Even with his weird bald spot in the back, he's
- 22:58Speaker 4: still hot.
- 22:58Speaker 8: Really?
- 22:59Speaker 7: I never noticed.
- 23:00Speaker 6: Good times.
- 23:01Speaker 7: I'm only familiar with him from TalkSoup, so, you know.
- 23:05Speaker 4: How long has it been since it's been TalkSoup?
- 23:07Speaker 7: What's it called?
- 23:08Speaker 4: The Soup.
- 23:08Speaker 7: The Soup.
- 23:09Speaker 3: It's still TalkSoup.
- 23:11Speaker 4: Whichever.
- 23:12Speaker 6: Okay.
- 23:13Speaker 7: That was all.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Oh, wait.
- 23:15Speaker 7: One more thing. Yesterday, I lit snakes.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Yes.
- 23:20Speaker 1: I love snakes.
- 23:20Speaker 7: Not real snakes, like the firework snakes.
- 23:23Speaker 3: The best fireworks ever.
- 23:23Speaker 4: It wasn't even worth a July yet. You're cheating.
- 23:26Speaker 10: I know.
- 23:27Speaker 3: The best fireworks ever. Come on now.
- 23:30Speaker 4: Were they the colored ones or were they the black ones?
- 23:32Speaker 7: They were just black. They're kind of the same. We
- 23:34Speaker 7: had a firework that was called Dragon Fart.
- 23:38Speaker 3: That's inappropriate.
- 23:39Speaker 4: So what exactly does this here dragon fart do?
- 23:41Speaker 7: It just makes a lot of noise.
- 23:43Speaker 4: Does it smell?
- 23:44Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 23:45Speaker 4: Like a dragon would smell?
- 23:46Speaker 3: Like sulfur. It smells like sulfur, yeah.
- 23:48Speaker 7: So technically, I guess so. I mean, if dragons existed
- 23:51Speaker 7: and farted, it probably would smell like sulfur.
- 23:53Speaker 4: What do you mean, if?
- 23:56Speaker 3: Dragons are real.
- 23:57Speaker 7: You know, I actually do kind of believe that dragons
- 23:59Speaker 7: are real. People just look at me like I'm a...
- 24:02Speaker 7: total idiot but i'm like they exist in almost every
- 24:05Speaker 7: every folklore on every continent.
- 24:07Speaker 3: Yeah every culture has a version.
- 24:09Speaker 7: Of them some fire breathing you can't giant lizard thing you.
- 24:13Speaker 3: Gotta question that at some point i'm not saying i
- 24:15Speaker 3: believe it but that's interesting so if you guys believe
- 24:18Speaker 3: in dragons hey let us know.
- 24:20Speaker 5: An important note on snakes they will stain your patio
- 24:24Speaker 5: We lit snakes one year.
- 24:26Speaker 4: Two years ago.
- 24:26Speaker 5: Two years ago, and the stains are still there.
- 24:29Speaker 4: We have snake stains.
- 24:30Speaker 3: Snake stains. Yeah, see, we always did it on the
- 24:33Speaker 3: blacktop part.
- 24:34Speaker 4: Oh, no, we have a light concrete. That's not good.
- 24:38Speaker 4: Forever we'll remember the snakes. A monument, if you will,
- 24:42Speaker 4: to the snakes in all their glory.
- 24:44Speaker 3: Until the rain came and turned them all mushy.
- 24:48Speaker 4: The stains are still there.
- 24:49Speaker 5: Yes, they are.
- 24:49Speaker 7: That's the thing.
- 24:50Speaker 3: They're snakes. So you'll want to remember those good times.
- 24:52Speaker 3: I mean.
- 24:53Speaker 4: Of snakes.
- 24:54Speaker 7: I'm kind of afraid of fireworks to a certain extent. Like,
- 24:56Speaker 7: when I was little.
- 24:58Speaker 4: Little poppers get you, don't they?
- 25:00Speaker 7: Not little poppers. But when I was little, like one
- 25:02Speaker 7: of the jumping jacks, like... chased me and burned my
- 25:06Speaker 7: foot so i'm a little afraid chased her into the
- 25:10Speaker 7: garage you never let bottle rockets out of your butt
- 25:11Speaker 7: crack i see a lot of videos of that on
- 25:14Speaker 7: the internet wow no but i didn't used to know
- 25:18Speaker 7: someone who loved to light them from his mouth so.
- 25:21Speaker 8: Nice the dangers of fourth of july nothing bad ever
- 25:26Speaker 8: happened to him unfortunately but it did always turn his
- 25:29Speaker 8: face black which was funny.
- 25:32Speaker 3: Oh, the early days of jackass.
- 25:34Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly.
- 25:35Speaker 3: Wow. All right, on that note, I guess we will
- 25:39Speaker 3: wrap up the Geek Week here and take a break.
- 25:41Speaker 4: Your fire safety warning. Oh, God, help us.
- 25:44Speaker 3: We are not responsible if you light yourself on fire.
- 25:46Speaker 7: Don't try this at home, kids.
- 25:47Speaker 3: Definitely. We'll be back with What's the Bug? I just
- 25:53Speaker 3: can't stop it. I just can't stop it.
- 25:56Speaker 2: Ooh.
- 25:56Speaker 4: Girl, I said, ooh.
- 26:26Speaker 1: The whole family is getting together to show Dad how
- 26:29Speaker 1: much he's appreciated. It's so nice to have a man
- 26:32Speaker 1: around the house. But here's an extra surprise. Somebody's giving
- 26:36Speaker 1: the whole family to the most enjoyable gift of all.
- 26:38Speaker 8: Get there?
- 26:39Speaker 1: Take Dad and the family on a pleasure-filled outing to
- 26:42Speaker 1: the movies at our special Father's Day show Sunday, June 21st.
- 26:49Speaker 3: I want to thank all of you for making it
- 26:51Speaker 3: possible for me to go to college. I won't let
- 26:53Speaker 3: you down. Your tuition check bounced. My tuition check bounced.
- 26:57Speaker 5: Let go, let go, let go.
- 26:58Speaker 3: Get out of my room. Yo, without even hearing my plan. Fly.
- 27:02Speaker 3: A house party. House party. The mother of house parties, man.
- 27:05Speaker 3: A pajama jammy jam.
- 27:09Speaker 2: All proceeds going to the Christopher Robinson Scholarship Fund.
- 27:13Speaker 3: You hear that, Black? What's going on, man?
- 27:17Speaker 4: Name's Jamal. Talk white.
- 27:24Speaker 2: You'll love the rap.
- 27:25Speaker 6: Everybody knows about this part but.
- 27:28Speaker 2: The three of you. I know, right?
- 27:30Speaker 4: What's up with that?
- 27:32Speaker 3: Hit and play. Full force. Tisha Campbell.
- 27:37Speaker 2: Iman.
- 27:38Speaker 3: Queen Latifah. And Martin Lawrence.
- 27:41Speaker 9: It's the slaminest party ever.
- 27:45Speaker 3: House party.
- 27:49Speaker 9: Hey kids, are you ready for Mid-America's largest genre film festival?

- 28:48Speaker 7: This is John Stalberg Jr. and you're listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 28:50Speaker 9: Where are you?
- 28:52Speaker 6: Where are you?
- 29:04Speaker 7: Yeah, call it.
- 29:07Speaker 8: Fame, fame, fame, fame.
- 29:25Speaker 3: At the time, though, he still had, it was that
- 29:27Speaker 3: Checker career, wasn't it? Or was it the end of Cheers?
- 29:30Speaker 3: It was a long time ago, but.
- 29:32Speaker 4: He still had brown hair.
- 29:33Speaker 3: Yeah, he still had he still had somewhat of a career.
- 29:36Speaker 7: So i don't know he did that becker show.
- 29:38Speaker 3: Yeah i don't understand how it was on for as
- 29:40Speaker 3: long as it was nobody watched it but it was
- 29:42Speaker 3: on for like nine years or something i'm like how
- 29:44Speaker 3: did that happen.
- 29:45Speaker 7: I think just the.
- 29:47Speaker 3: Late night Time slot hit.
- 29:49Speaker 12: They sandwiched it in between the Girls Gone Wild and
- 29:53Speaker 12: the Crash Diet commercials.
- 29:55Speaker 3: That's really late.
- 29:56Speaker 7: I think it was just so forgotten about that even
- 29:58Speaker 7: the producers and the people at the studio forgot to
- 30:01Speaker 7: cancel it.
- 30:01Speaker 3: They were like, we were going to cancel it. What
- 30:03Speaker 3: was the name of that show?
- 30:04Speaker 12: I think they went home, left the cameras rolling, and
- 30:06Speaker 12: only Ted showed up.
- 30:08Speaker 3: He made his own show.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:10Speaker 3: Hi, it's the Ted show.
- 30:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:12Speaker 3: Nobody noticed for the last three seasons that that was
- 30:15Speaker 3: going on because nobody watched it.
- 30:17Speaker 7: Kind of like that two and a half minute show. Yeah.
- 30:20Speaker 3: I still don't understand.
- 30:21Speaker 4: Fuck that show.
- 30:22Speaker 7: All right.
- 30:22Speaker 8: We have way need to bring it back into the,
- 30:25Speaker 8: what's the buzz?
- 30:25Speaker 4: What is the buzz? Tell me what is happening. All right.
- 30:30Speaker 3: We're back with What's the Buzz?
- 30:31Speaker 8: Hey.
- 30:41Speaker 4: Hey.
- 30:44Speaker 3: All right, so I'm the only one here, I think,
- 30:46Speaker 3: who hasn't seen and doesn't totally think it's the most
- 30:49Speaker 3: awesome movie ever, Tropic Thunder.
- 30:51Speaker 4: It is pretty awesome.
- 30:53Speaker 3: So we'll have to see what you think of this one.
- 30:56Speaker 3: So at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, Tom Cruise reprised
- 31:00Speaker 3: his role as Les Grossman, the foul-mouthed Hollywood producer, only
- 31:04Speaker 3: to appear dancing alongside J-Lo. But it probably was more
- 31:08Speaker 3: than just them having fun, because everything's very calculated on
- 31:11Speaker 3: these shows, especially that one. More than likely, it was
- 31:14Speaker 3: a ploy to keep the character in the public consciousness because...
- 31:17Speaker 3: Paramount Pictures and MTV Films are working to put together
- 31:20Speaker 3: a spin-off film based on Tom Cruise's character in Tropic Thunder.
- 31:24Speaker 4: He's probably my least favorite part of the movie.
- 31:27Speaker 7: I forgot he was in it.
- 31:27Speaker 5: He's got to get his payday today.
- 31:29Speaker 4: I didn't even know it was him until the movie
- 31:30Speaker 4: was almost over.
- 31:31Speaker 3: I was like, oh wait, that's Tom Cruise.
- 31:34Speaker 12: That's the thing, he's got to keep it going because
- 31:35Speaker 12: sooner or later he's going to fade.
- 31:38Speaker 3: Well, now we know what he's going to look like
- 31:39Speaker 3: when he gets old.
- 31:42Speaker 5: You're Tom Cruise, you're a nut job.
- 31:44Speaker 7: Yep.
- 31:45Speaker 4: I mean.
- 31:46Speaker 7: I'm kind of glad that they're not putting him in
- 31:49Speaker 7: every movie anymore anyway. He's kind of fallen out of popularity.
- 31:53Speaker 7: I mean, he still does a lot of movies.
- 31:54Speaker 3: Yeah, they're still coming out, but he's still... It's that
- 31:58Speaker 3: weird mixture of people... Still kind of go see his stuff,
- 32:01Speaker 3: but nobody likes him, which is really weird because usually
- 32:04Speaker 3: you don't get that. Usually once you've pissed off the
- 32:07Speaker 3: general public, you're done. They don't go see your stuff anymore.
- 32:10Speaker 4: I'm pissed off at him for ruining Katie Holmes.
- 32:12Speaker 3: Yeah, she used to be cool.
- 32:13Speaker 4: Making her a shell of the person she used to be.
- 32:16Speaker 3: She used to be cool. Not anymore.
- 32:18Speaker 4: She looks so sad all the time.
- 32:20Speaker 3: Well, if you live with Tom Cruise, I'll do.
- 32:22Speaker 4: Poor girl. I want to go save her. Take her
- 32:25Speaker 4: a sandwich.
- 32:26Speaker 3: I was hanging out with his cousin all weekend.
- 32:28Speaker 7: I know. Tom Cruise's cousin?
- 32:30Speaker 3: Yeah, he's one of the main guys that helps them
- 32:33Speaker 3: run that film festival.
- 32:34Speaker 7: Is he like, yeah, he's a total douche.
- 32:37Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 32:38Speaker 3: You can ask him next time. He went to high
- 32:41Speaker 3: school here. Yeah.
- 32:43Speaker 5: In fact, my ex-boss used to be in, they were
- 32:47Speaker 5: in the same class together. He hates him.
- 32:49Speaker 4: Did you ask him if Suri is actually an alien baby?
- 32:53Speaker 3: I steer clear of most of them.
- 32:54Speaker 4: Alien baby.
- 32:56Speaker 3: Could very well be, though.
- 32:58Speaker 2: Oh, gosh.
- 32:59Speaker 3: So, I don't know. That's almost the only thing people
- 33:02Speaker 3: have responded well to that Tom Cruise has done in
- 33:05Speaker 3: the last five or six years, so I guess that's
- 33:07Speaker 3: probably why. He's probably trying to get back on people's
- 33:10Speaker 3: good side and be like, hey, everybody liked when I
- 33:12Speaker 3: danced around like an old man. Why don't I make
- 33:14Speaker 3: an entire movie out of it?
- 33:15Speaker 7: Yeah, I don't think you need an entire movie out
- 33:17Speaker 7: of that.
- 33:18Speaker 6: You got just enough in Tropic Thunder.
- 33:21Speaker 3: Tropic Thunder, yeah.
- 33:21Speaker 4: That met its quota.
- 33:22Speaker 3: He was one of my.
- 33:24Speaker 5: least favorite characters.
- 33:25Speaker 4: That's what I just said.
- 33:26Speaker 5: Kind of hoping they would come back and blow him up.
- 33:29Speaker 3: That never happened.
- 33:30Speaker 4: Watch Matthew McConaughey. They need to give him a movie.
- 33:32Speaker 2: Oh, God.
- 33:33Speaker 3: They just give him bad romantic comedy.
- 33:35Speaker 4: I know, but he was funny.
- 33:37Speaker 12: Misty just wants about an hour and a half of
- 33:40Speaker 12: him sitting playing bongos naked.
- 33:41Speaker 1: I do.
- 33:42Speaker 4: I would watch that over and over again.
- 33:44Speaker 2: Oh, Luke.
- 33:44Speaker 6: Oh, Lord.
- 33:44Speaker 3: Bongos. Well, this one seems more troublesome because it's got
- 33:51Speaker 3: Ben Stiller involved. And I know he was in Tropic
- 33:53Speaker 3: Thunder and put it together. But still, I'm so hit
- 33:56Speaker 3: and miss with Ben Stiller and mostly miss in the
- 33:58Speaker 3: last 10 years. So I don't know. They're already selling
- 34:02Speaker 3: it like this ridiculous. They're going along with this crazy
- 34:05Speaker 3: shtick that they keep doing with it because Ben Stiller
- 34:08Speaker 3: is quoted as saying, Les Grossman's life story is an
- 34:11Speaker 3: inspiring tale of the classic human struggle to achieve greatness
- 34:14Speaker 3: against all odds. He's assured me he plans to, quote,
- 34:18Speaker 3: fucking kill the shit out of this movie and make
- 34:20Speaker 3: Citizen fucking Kane look like a piece of crap home
- 34:22Speaker 3: movie by the time we're done with it, and I'm
- 34:24Speaker 3: honored to work with him. Wow. So, like, even the
- 34:27Speaker 3: quote is a quote, and they're both fake. You know,
- 34:30Speaker 3: I'm just like, the whole thing is just already layered
- 34:33Speaker 3: in so much bullshit, and I'm kind of like, ugh.
- 34:35Speaker 5: It's kind of like The Hills.
- 34:37Speaker 3: Well, yeah.
- 34:38Speaker 7: I've always been really confused by that show. It's supposed
- 34:41Speaker 7: to be real, but it's fake.
- 34:42Speaker 3: Or it's supposed to be fake, but it's real. I
- 34:44Speaker 3: can't decide. I'll sum it up. It sucks. I don't know.
- 34:49Speaker 3: I've never watched it.
- 34:50Speaker 5: If you watch it and take it seriously, you're an idiot.
- 34:53Speaker 4: It's 95% plastic. The entire show.
- 34:56Speaker 5: Can't they just recycle them all? Melt them down into
- 35:00Speaker 5: a water bottle?
- 35:01Speaker 7: That would be amazing.
- 35:03Speaker 5: They got the IQ of a water bottle.
- 35:05Speaker 4: Fleshbeard. God, I hate that guy.
- 35:08Speaker 5: Actually, I'm sorry for insulting you, water bottle. You plastic
- 35:13Speaker 5: goodness that contained my water.
- 35:16Speaker 3: Oh, well, this is like a whole series they've been
- 35:18Speaker 3: doing of this spinoff movies for these side characters. I mean,
- 35:21Speaker 3: that's how the Steve Carell got Evan Almighty. He was
- 35:25Speaker 3: the spinoff from the last movie. And then the Russell Brand,
- 35:29Speaker 3: his new get him to the Greek rock star is
- 35:31Speaker 3: the same guy from Forgetting Sarah Marshall. So they're continuing
- 35:34Speaker 3: this little process of trying to, you know, spin it
- 35:37Speaker 3: off and make more money off this already probably dead property.
- 35:40Speaker 4: Does he come up with anything original?
- 35:42Speaker 3: Yeah, pretty much.
- 35:43Speaker 4: Are there spin-off characters for every character in every movie?
- 35:47Speaker 7: I mean, it worked in Happy Days, but I think
- 35:49Speaker 7: the spin-off is dead.
- 35:50Speaker 3: Did it really? When did it really work? Did it really?
- 35:54Speaker 7: I love Mork and Mindy.
- 35:55Speaker 3: Mork, I guess, was about, well, you know.
- 35:57Speaker 7: Wasn't Laverne and Shirley a spin-off?
- 35:58Speaker 3: Laverne and Shirley was.
- 36:01Speaker 4: Joni and Chachi was awesome.
- 36:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know about that. That's the one I
- 36:05Speaker 3: was originally thinking. I was like, that was no good.
- 36:07Speaker 7: There were a ton of spinoffs from Happy Days that
- 36:09Speaker 7: were awesome.
- 36:10Speaker 3: Wait, that's all of the family. I'm just going to
- 36:13Speaker 3: tie them all together now.
- 36:15Speaker 7: But I mean, those were awesome. Now when Family Guy
- 36:18Speaker 7: does it, not so awesome. But I don't think Family
- 36:21Speaker 7: Guy is that awesome to begin with.
- 36:22Speaker 3: It's sad that I like American Dad better. And nobody
- 36:26Speaker 3: watches American Dad. I still think it's funnier.
- 36:30Speaker 4: I don't like that one.
- 36:33Speaker 7: Now there's like Another one coming out.
- 36:36Speaker 3: And his movie. Don't forget his movie.
- 36:38Speaker 4: We have the Quagmire show.
- 36:40Speaker 7: That'd be maybe kind of funny. I might watch that.
- 36:43Speaker 3: That's too much.
- 36:44Speaker 1: All right.
- 36:46Speaker 3: So this September, we see the release of The Ward,
- 36:49Speaker 3: which is the first theatrical release from veteran horror director
- 36:52Speaker 3: John Carpenter in a long time. And I didn't really stop. Well,
- 36:57Speaker 3: I kind of knew, but I didn't do the math
- 36:58Speaker 3: on how long it's been since he's had a movie
- 37:00Speaker 3: people really liked. It's been a long damn time. It's
- 37:03Speaker 3: been 2001 since Ghost of Mars. Before that, it was
- 37:07Speaker 3: Vampires in 98.
- 37:08Speaker 4: 98? 98.
- 37:10Speaker 3: It's been a long damn time.
- 37:13Speaker 4: I slept during that one, I think.
- 37:14Speaker 7: I was super excited to see that movie. I was
- 37:17Speaker 7: in 7th grade.
- 37:18Speaker 4: I slept through it. I took a nap.
- 37:21Speaker 7: I watched it in theaters.
- 37:23Speaker 4: I went to the theater, too, and saw it at Tinseltown.
- 37:25Speaker 3: I don't remember. I think it was free.
- 37:28Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 37:28Speaker 3: Nobody would have seen it. I don't know. Oh, so yeah,
- 37:33Speaker 3: he has now signed on to direct the next one.
- 37:35Speaker 3: We've got The Ward is already coming out this year,
- 37:37Speaker 3: and then he's signed on to do another vampire-themed movie
- 37:40Speaker 3: called Fangland. Based on a 2008 novel by John Marks,
- 37:44Speaker 3: Fangland is the story of a TV producer for a
- 37:47Speaker 3: network news magazine show who is sent on assignment to Transylvania,
- 37:50Speaker 3: which leads her to a New York office being flooded
- 37:53Speaker 3: with creepy deliveries and messages. Hilary Swank has been attached
- 37:56Speaker 3: to Star as the reporter.
- 37:58Speaker 2: Ugh.
- 37:59Speaker 3: Yeah, see, thank you. It's not just me.
- 38:01Speaker 7: Well, you know, honestly, I know everybody kind of hates
- 38:04Speaker 7: Hilary Swank, but she's like, everything she does gets an Oscar.
- 38:08Speaker 7: I really don't see her doing this movie.
- 38:10Speaker 3: That's what's weird, is that she's doing this weird, I mean,
- 38:12Speaker 3: even with Carpenter involved, I mean, it's still kind of
- 38:14Speaker 3: a cheesy horror movie.
- 38:15Speaker 7: I mean, come on, he doesn't really, like, get the
- 38:18Speaker 7: biggest names out there.
- 38:19Speaker 2: No.
- 38:20Speaker 7: Hires had like james woods.
- 38:21Speaker 3: And gets no respect period so it's like he yeah
- 38:24Speaker 3: even as influential as he's been in the in the
- 38:27Speaker 3: movie world it's like in the real world in the
- 38:29Speaker 3: award scene it's like nobody's given him any oscars so
- 38:32Speaker 3: yeah it's weird that she's attached to it and it's
- 38:36Speaker 3: her big old horsey teeth see that's the thing i'm
- 38:38Speaker 3: gonna have to i'm gonna have to pull a misty
- 38:40Speaker 3: here and say the reason i don't like her is
- 38:41Speaker 3: her face They didn't bribe her with apples.
- 38:44Speaker 4: That's how you paid her. Apples and wheat.
- 38:48Speaker 5: They'll give you an apple cart.
- 38:51Speaker 3: She is a pretty good actress, but there's this big
- 38:53Speaker 3: hump you have to get over when she's in a role.
- 38:55Speaker 4: Her hump is her teeth.
- 38:56Speaker 3: It's her face. I don't know.
- 38:59Speaker 4: In particular, her face.
- 39:00Speaker 7: It's her teeth.
- 39:01Speaker 4: They're big old horse choppers.
- 39:04Speaker 3: It's just such an uphill battle to like anything she's in.
- 39:07Speaker 3: But I mean, it's like, I will acknowledge she's a
- 39:09Speaker 3: good actress, but I just can't get past it. I
- 39:11Speaker 3: just am not. It's a hard sell for me. I
- 39:14Speaker 3: don't know.
- 39:14Speaker 2: So.
- 39:15Speaker 3: It's weird that she's in this anyway.
- 39:17Speaker 4: Can you picture those big old choppers as vampire teeth?
- 39:20Speaker 3: God, you're in trouble.
- 39:21Speaker 5: I can picture her in bunnicula.
- 39:24Speaker 7: Oh, I wish they'd make bunnicula into a movie.
- 39:27Speaker 5: No, you don't want it.
- 39:28Speaker 3: We'll be complaining about that in like two weeks. How
- 39:30Speaker 3: can they do that?
- 39:31Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 39:32Speaker 3: You say that now.
- 39:33Speaker 7: Maybe they should give it to Wes Anderson.
- 39:35Speaker 6: Nah.
- 39:36Speaker 3: See, there you go. Stop motion Benicula. That might be
- 39:38Speaker 3: worth doing.
- 39:39Speaker 7: That would be so cool.
- 39:41Speaker 8: Oh, Lord.
- 39:42Speaker 3: So, yeah, the Final Land script is adapted by screenwriter
- 39:45Speaker 3: Mark Wheaton, who wrote the 2007's The Messengers, starring your
- 39:49Speaker 3: favorite girl.
- 39:50Speaker 4: Downy face.
- 39:51Speaker 3: And co-wrote the Friday the 13th remake. So I don't
- 39:54Speaker 3: know if this is the best way to go anyway.
- 39:56Speaker 7: I like The Messengers.
- 39:57Speaker 4: Even with Downy face? Even with her stupid lip-bitey thing?
- 40:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:03Speaker 4: I want to punch her in her face. Not you.
- 40:06Speaker 6: I'm going to punch Kristen Stewart right in her stupid face.
- 40:11Speaker 7: She looks different in the new Twilight movie that's coming out.
- 40:14Speaker 4: More downy? I don't know.
- 40:16Speaker 3: She looks different from the first one to the second one.
- 40:18Speaker 3: Because when I went back and watched part of it,
- 40:20Speaker 3: I still haven't made it all the way through the
- 40:21Speaker 3: first one. You have to come over and watch the reference.
- 40:24Speaker 4: Version of it.
- 40:25Speaker 3: I'm all for it.
- 40:26Speaker 7: I really just think her face is too pointy. I
- 40:28Speaker 7: don't think she has downs in her face because your
- 40:31Speaker 7: face is like Not pointy in, like, she's got elf face.
- 40:35Speaker 8: I don't know, that scene in the first one where
- 40:37Speaker 8: she's going, like, after she got bit and she starts
- 40:38Speaker 8: making those weird faces, I think that's where it came from.
- 40:41Speaker 4: She was all like, um, and then, yeah.
- 40:43Speaker 7: In Twilight?
- 40:44Speaker 5: We're not having a kid because God was so punishing.
- 40:47Speaker 2: Yes.
- 40:47Speaker 5: He would.
- 40:48Speaker 3: Yes, he would.
- 40:49Speaker 4: After she got bit by the vampire and she's on
- 40:50Speaker 4: the floor making weird faces.
- 40:51Speaker 6: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 40:52Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 40:53Speaker 7: I just, that movie was so awful I just blocked
- 40:56Speaker 7: it out of my memory completely.
- 40:58Speaker 3: Alright, moving on.
- 41:00Speaker 8: Made me think of Twilight with cheeseburgers.
- 41:03Speaker 4: Never saw that video. It's, never mind.
- 41:07Speaker 8: It's Twilight but instead of eating people they eat cheeseburgers
- 41:10Speaker 8: and he gives the cheeseburger a piggyback ride.
- 41:13Speaker 3: That's not any less realistic than the movie itself, really.
- 41:18Speaker 4: He falls in love with a cheeseburger and he gives
- 41:19Speaker 4: it a piggyback ride.
- 41:22Speaker 7: Sounds like Night of the Living Bread.
- 41:24Speaker 3: That was awesome. Alright, so a year ago, Ryan Reynolds
- 41:30Speaker 3: had not yet been cast in the currently filming Green Lantern,
- 41:34Speaker 3: and much less that they hadn't even broke news that
- 41:36Speaker 3: anybody was. The viability of Green Lantern as the next
- 41:39Speaker 3: big Warner Brothers project was still sort.
- 41:42Speaker 4: Of up in the air until an amazing fan.
- 41:45Speaker 3: Trailer appeared starring Nathan Fillion.
- 41:47Speaker 4: As Hal Jordan.
- 41:48Speaker 3: Oh, that was awesome.
- 41:49Speaker 4: I totally watched that movie. I want that movie is
- 41:51Speaker 4: what I want. Fuck Ryan Reynolds. I want Nathan Fillion.
- 41:56Speaker 4: Just in general.
- 41:58Speaker 3: That's true, actually.
- 41:59Speaker 4: I want Nathan Fillion in every movie. He should be
- 42:02Speaker 4: in every movie, and I would watch them all.
- 42:04Speaker 3: So that hit YouTube and became the big sensation, and
- 42:08Speaker 3: they sort of took notice of that when they greenlit
- 42:11Speaker 3: the Green Lantern process.
- 42:13Speaker 7: Greenlit the Green Lantern. Yeah.
- 42:15Speaker 3: So taking that into account, that trailer was created by
- 42:19Speaker 3: Texas media director Jaron Pitts as a labor of love,
- 42:23Speaker 3: and he just took it upon himself to do so,
- 42:25Speaker 3: like all geeks do when they make these things. But
- 42:28Speaker 3: it so impressed them that he's recently been approached by
- 42:32Speaker 3: Hollywood producers to create a similar trailer for a movie
- 42:35Speaker 3: they're working on called Technotice using clips of Mila Jovovich. Wait, Jovovich.
- 42:41Speaker 3: I forgot. She pronounces it Jovovich.
- 42:43Speaker 7: I didn't know that until the fourth kind or whatever
- 42:45Speaker 7: that means.
- 42:46Speaker 4: She's still Jovovich.
- 42:46Speaker 7: I don't care.
- 42:47Speaker 3: But she says Jovovich.
- 42:49Speaker 4: No, still Jojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojojo.
- 43:07Speaker 3: It's been picked up by Warner Brothers. They're legendary pictures.
- 43:10Speaker 3: And the story itself, it's the story of an art
- 43:12Speaker 3: student in the year 2074 who gets a chip implanted
- 43:15Speaker 3: to improve her studies. but finds that she gets more
- 43:18Speaker 3: than she expected.
- 43:19Speaker 7: Uh-oh.
- 43:19Speaker 3: Dun-dun-dun. She becomes some sort of crazy techno creature. Super assassin.
- 43:23Speaker 4: She's got, like... She's got, like.
- 43:27Speaker 3: Jesus. She's got, like, wiring growing into her arms and
- 43:30Speaker 3: all kinds of crazy shit. It does actually, like, the
- 43:33Speaker 3: original version of it looked kind of interesting, so if
- 43:36Speaker 3: they could do a cool version of that, I'd be
- 43:38Speaker 3: up for that. If they do just another crappy version,
- 43:40Speaker 3: I mean.
- 43:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:41Speaker 1: So.
- 43:43Speaker 3: I did watch it. The trailer's kind of fun. There's
- 43:45Speaker 3: a lot of images that are all kind of pulled
- 43:48Speaker 3: from Resident Evil movies. It's very pieced together. There's other stuff.
- 43:51Speaker 3: I'm not even sure where they get it from, but
- 43:53Speaker 3: it does look good, and it is sort of pieced
- 43:55Speaker 3: together into one big thing. So once again, he's done
- 43:58Speaker 3: a good job. So it's kind of interesting that they're
- 44:01Speaker 3: now going to the geeks out there and having them
- 44:03Speaker 3: make these, like, Starter trailers almost. Let's give people an
- 44:07Speaker 3: idea of what we want before we even get any funding,
- 44:10Speaker 3: before we get anything on it.
- 44:12Speaker 12: What better way to advertise to geeks than have geeks
- 44:15Speaker 12: make the advertising?
- 44:16Speaker 3: You don't want some.
- 44:18Speaker 4: That geeks with Mila. You get some.
- 44:22Speaker 12: Hollywood corporate that's completely out of touch with their audience.
- 44:28Speaker 5: They release something that's stupid. Most of them are just
- 44:30Speaker 5: going to turn against it.
- 44:32Speaker 2: Marmite.
- 44:33Speaker 3: That's what happens when you let corporate get involved.
- 44:35Speaker 1: Marmaduke.
- 44:36Speaker 3: You make Marmaduke.
- 44:37Speaker 7: You know, for some reason, if there were ever a
- 44:40Speaker 7: movie with Nathan Fillion and Mila Jovovich, I see a
- 44:44Speaker 7: VHS with words written on it that say, like, Disney
- 44:48Speaker 7: movies on Miss T & J' s nightstand.
- 44:51Speaker 4: What are you talking about?
- 44:55Speaker 3: I think I see what's going on.
- 44:56Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 44:57Speaker 3: So, yeah, that's just, you know, kind of encouraging for
- 45:00Speaker 3: the rest of the geeks out there making their little
- 45:02Speaker 3: fan trailers. You know, you might get a job from.
- 45:05Speaker 9: That one day.
- 45:05Speaker 4: Awesome.
- 45:06Speaker 3: More power to the geeks. All right, so this is
- 45:09Speaker 3: just a test. Does anybody here know who Kim Kardashian
- 45:13Speaker 3: actually is? Like, aside from reality television, why is she.
- 45:17Speaker 7: She has a really big butt.
- 45:18Speaker 3: Why is she famous?
- 45:19Speaker 4: She's Bruce Jenner's stepdaughter.
- 45:21Speaker 3: Okay, that's better than most people, because I had to
- 45:22Speaker 3: look it up today. I knew the name. I know
- 45:25Speaker 3: her films. Didn't she bang some football player? Yeah, she
- 45:27Speaker 3: did at Portland. video thingy again those don't really count
- 45:31Speaker 3: as legitimate to.
- 45:32Speaker 12: Me who is she famous she's actually famous for something.
- 45:35Speaker 3: She's famous for having a.
- 45:36Speaker 7: Big old ass she's like Paris Hilton minus like being
- 45:40Speaker 7: an heiress but they're like I think they used to
- 45:43Speaker 7: be friends so she's just like the same person these
- 45:45Speaker 7: are all.
- 45:46Speaker 3: People that don't exist yeah well but they're everywhere and
- 45:50Speaker 3: I'm just like I hate fake celebrities I'm like if
- 45:53Speaker 3: you're a celebrity at least do something to get your
- 45:55Speaker 3: celebrity status like She's, yeah, all she's got is sort
- 45:59Speaker 3: of family and reality television, neither of which, you know,
- 46:02Speaker 3: entitles you to be. I do not.
- 46:06Speaker 12: Acknowledge your existence and I don't acknowledge your celebrity status.
- 46:10Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 46:12Speaker 5: Nothing.
- 46:12Speaker 3: It's ridiculous. So, that having been said, this may be
- 46:16Speaker 3: complete nonsense.
- 46:17Speaker 4: Yeah, it's going to piss people off, I think, because
- 46:19Speaker 4: I know where you're going with this.
- 46:19Speaker 3: I just wanted to bring it up because I think
- 46:21Speaker 3: it's funny. And, yeah, I like throwing out things that could...
- 46:25Speaker 3: I mean, it is the buzz. That's why I like
- 46:27Speaker 3: throwing them out there, because it's far from.
- 46:28Speaker 11: Fact, so.
- 46:30Speaker 3: There is a report this week that Kim Kardashian is
- 46:32Speaker 3: in talks with Warner Brothers to star in the reboot
- 46:34Speaker 3: of the Tomb Raider franchise.
- 46:36Speaker 4: It's retarded.
- 46:37Speaker 3: No, first of all, they also say an unnamed source
- 46:41Speaker 3: reported this, which means bullshit. That's internet bullshit.
- 46:44Speaker 4: They can't shit her ass in Laura Croft's pants.
- 46:47Speaker 3: But no, this is what I think is funny. They
- 46:49Speaker 3: reported saying that this will be something very different to
- 46:52Speaker 3: Angelina's Laura. It's going to suck. Kim has wanted to
- 46:56Speaker 3: play a far more comic strip version of Laura. Which
- 46:59Speaker 3: would be shot in 3D. Big surprise.
- 47:01Speaker 4: Oh, you don't want that ass in 3D.
- 47:02Speaker 1: No.
- 47:03Speaker 3: And aimed at a teen audience. Teen audience? What teens
- 47:07Speaker 3: know what Lara Croft is?
- 47:09Speaker 5: Yeah, really, none of them.
- 47:10Speaker 3: Nobody.
- 47:11Speaker 7: I mean, Tomb Raider isn't even a game anymore. I mean,
- 47:14Speaker 7: it's just like it's a moot point.
- 47:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 47:16Speaker 3: I mean, kids today are ADHD and have the attention
- 47:19Speaker 3: span of a gnat like most of us here do.
- 47:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 47:21Speaker 3: So, I mean, really, yeah.
- 47:23Speaker 12: That's like making a Laurel and Hardy movie that's targeting
- 47:27Speaker 12: the teens because.
- 47:29Speaker 5: They know who the fuck Laurel and Hardy is.
- 47:32Speaker 3: I was going with the video games. Let's make a
- 47:33Speaker 3: Burger Time movie because the kids love Burger Time.
- 47:36Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah.
- 47:37Speaker 5: We'll do a Marx Brothers movie.
- 47:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm like, how do tweens know what the hell
- 47:42Speaker 3: any of this crap is? Because that's your target audience.
- 47:44Speaker 3: I don't know. So I thought that was really funnier
- 47:47Speaker 3: than the story, which is probably totally fake. But the
- 47:49Speaker 3: fact that Any of the stuff that keeps getting remade
- 47:52Speaker 3: and they're shooting for this new teen audience and I'm
- 47:54Speaker 3: like teens could give a rat's ass about all the
- 47:56Speaker 3: stuff that again the corporations think is the cool thing
- 48:00Speaker 3: and we're going to bring it back and kids are
- 48:01Speaker 3: going to love it and it never happens.
- 48:03Speaker 7: This is what happens when this is like. these big
- 48:07Speaker 7: production companies making these movies it's like when your mom
- 48:09Speaker 7: tries to buy you a gift that you like and
- 48:12Speaker 7: she's like almost in the right direction but she misses
- 48:14Speaker 7: the mark by quite.
- 48:15Speaker 3: A bit yeah you know i've gotten many of those
- 48:18Speaker 3: gifts yeah for many family members actually.
- 48:21Speaker 7: Like this is you know like uh like i like
- 48:23Speaker 7: stuff that has polka dots sometimes and me getting stuff
- 48:26Speaker 7: with betty boop all over it from my family they're
- 48:28Speaker 7: like you've kind of, like, retro stuff. Here's this Betty
- 48:32Speaker 7: Boop purse or socks or whatever, you know? Something like that.
- 48:35Speaker 7: Where it's just like, hey, kids love Lara Croft. Kids
- 48:39Speaker 7: love to play Tomb Raider.
- 48:41Speaker 3: That's them video games. They're all video games. This is
- 48:43Speaker 3: the same thing.
- 48:45Speaker 7: That was, like, when I was a kid.
- 48:46Speaker 2: Like, that.
- 48:48Speaker 7: I mean, not that that was that long ago, but,
- 48:50Speaker 7: you know.
- 48:51Speaker 3: Long enough that it's made a difference in the video
- 48:53Speaker 3: games that are cool.
- 48:55Speaker 7: I mean, that movie came out when I was in
- 48:56Speaker 7: high school. I could have... had a kid by then
- 49:01Speaker 7: that they would be marketing this to so yeah.
- 49:04Speaker 3: That's scaring them itself really but yeah yeah so i
- 49:07Speaker 3: don't know even if this weren't complete bullshit i mean
- 49:11Speaker 3: you know laura croft at that point came from an
- 49:14Speaker 3: actress who won an oscar already so are we gonna
- 49:17Speaker 3: buy kim kardashian as a british archaeologist i don't think
- 49:21Speaker 3: so it's too stupid.
- 49:23Speaker 5: Of a doorknob to be a british archaeologist.
- 49:26Speaker 6: Archaeologists don't have ass like that I'm harping on the
- 49:29Speaker 6: ass because it's big.
- 49:31Speaker 7: I mean, I do think she's pretty and all, but.
- 49:33Speaker 3: I think Lara Croft is supposed to be active.
- 49:35Speaker 12: She's supposed to be an active person, be able to
- 49:37Speaker 12: do flips and stuff, and I don't see Kim Kardashian
- 49:39Speaker 12: pulling off any damn flips.
- 49:40Speaker 7: I mean, if she were to fall... She'd bounce.
- 49:44Speaker 4: She'd bounce.
- 49:47Speaker 10: Boing.
- 49:47Speaker 4: Boing.
- 49:49Speaker 3: I'm Kim Kardashian. I'm an active gal with an active lifestyle.
- 49:54Speaker 3: doing tampon commercials now that i could see actually i.
- 49:59Speaker 7: Can't wait till she comes out with an album oh i.
- 50:02Speaker 3: Can't believe she hasn't actually she probably already has and
- 50:04Speaker 3: we're just so out of the loop we we haven't.
- 50:06Speaker 8: Heard it could be worse it could be khan kardashian
- 50:10Speaker 8: her older sister who looks like khan oh yeah you know.
- 50:13Speaker 7: It's really weird because i mean she's i think she's
- 50:16Speaker 7: pretty but all of her sisters look like creepy transvestites
- 50:20Speaker 7: the one that had a kid courtney I don't know.
- 50:24Speaker 7: All their names begin with a K, which is totally stupid. Kim, Kourtney, Khloe, Kimmy, Kennedy.
- 50:31Speaker 7: I don't know. It could go on forever. They could
- 50:34Speaker 7: have as many kids as they want. They can just
- 50:35Speaker 7: start making up names that begin with K.
- 50:37Speaker 3: And they will.
- 50:38Speaker 7: Or names that should begin with C, like Khloe.
- 50:41Speaker 4: Kourtney.
- 50:42Speaker 7: Yeah, start it with a K.
- 50:44Speaker 3: Yeah, they are Kardashians. They can sell whatever they want.
- 50:48Speaker 3: All right, this final story isn't the remake of the week,
- 50:50Speaker 3: but it's, I guess, the sequel of the week. So
- 50:53Speaker 3: I'm sure it's going to annoy us just as much
- 50:55Speaker 3: as they usually do. And technically, this story hit about
- 50:58Speaker 3: a month ago, but I hadn't really heard anything about it.
- 51:01Speaker 3: And after last week's show, I thought we better bring
- 51:03Speaker 3: it up and see if you guys knew about it. But, yeah,
- 51:05Speaker 3: after we recorded last week's show, I was typing in
- 51:08Speaker 3: something into Google on the Dark Crystal. And before I
- 51:10Speaker 3: was even done typing, it popped up with Dark Crystal 2.
- 51:13Speaker 4: Oh, man.
- 51:14Speaker 5: Electric Boogaloo.
- 51:15Speaker 3: Electric Boogaloo, as it should be.
- 51:17Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 51:18Speaker 3: So, at that point, yeah, a cold chill ran up
- 51:20Speaker 3: my spine.
- 51:21Speaker 4: It's going to be CGI. It's going to have Zac Efron.
- 51:25Speaker 3: As Fizgig.
- 51:26Speaker 4: No, I like Fizgig. It'll be Shia.
- 51:30Speaker 3: He does kind of look like Fizgig. He's got the hair.
- 51:34Speaker 3: So it's official. A sequel to The Dark Crystal is coming,
- 51:38Speaker 3: and the directors of Daybreakers will be putting it together.
- 51:42Speaker 3: The film will be called The Power of the Dark Crystal,
- 51:45Speaker 3: and inevitably enough, it's going to be shot for 3D screens. Yay!
- 51:49Speaker 3: No surprise there. It's going to be CG. It's going
- 51:52Speaker 3: to be made in Australia with Brian and Lisa Henson
- 51:55Speaker 3: among the executive producers, which means really far away and
- 51:58Speaker 3: has nothing to do with it.
- 52:00Speaker 12: Yeah, basically they'll get a phone call and say, should
- 52:02Speaker 12: we go with green on this one creature's frock?
- 52:05Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 52:05Speaker 3: And we're like, I don't care. Are we going to
- 52:07Speaker 3: make money off this? I hope, because we don't make
- 52:09Speaker 3: money much anymore. That's all you get. So, yeah, I
- 52:13Speaker 3: don't know. The script has been written by Craig Pierce,
- 52:16Speaker 3: the directors are chosen, and they are Peter and Michael Spirig,
- 52:20Speaker 3: I guess is their last name, both of the guys
- 52:22Speaker 3: who did Daybreakers. So, again, that's a very different look
- 52:26Speaker 3: and movie and direction for The Dark Crystal.
- 52:29Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 52:29Speaker 3: I don't know. So they, yeah, the directors are quoted
- 52:33Speaker 3: as saying, We feel a tremendous amount of responsibility in
- 52:36Speaker 3: telling this story with the same meticulous care that Jim
- 52:38Speaker 3: Henson and Frank Oz gave the 1982 original. I'm not
- 52:42Speaker 3: buying any of this so far. This is a chance
- 52:44Speaker 3: to take the world of puppetry into the modern age.
- 52:46Speaker 4: Which means CG.
- 52:48Speaker 3: Using modern techniques like motion capture CGI. And the tried
- 52:52Speaker 3: and true methods like real puppetry. to create a 100%
- 52:56Speaker 3: real world that is unique to the Dark Crystal.
- 53:00Speaker 7: No.
- 53:00Speaker 3: I don't see it happening.
- 53:02Speaker 4: I'm going to pass on this.
- 53:03Speaker 3: Yeah, so, I don't know. The press statement also details
- 53:07Speaker 3: the plot of the film, which is already bad news
- 53:10Speaker 3: as well. Set hundreds of years after the events of
- 53:12Speaker 3: the first movie, when the world has once again fallen
- 53:15Speaker 3: into darkness, which makes the first movie pointless, Power of
- 53:18Speaker 3: the Dark Crystal follows the adventures of a mysterious girl
- 53:21Speaker 3: made of fire.
- 53:23Speaker 3: Together with a gelfling outcast.
- 53:26Speaker 7: Is it like Shark Boy and Lockwood or something?
- 53:31Speaker 3: Who gets help from a kid at the local school.
- 53:33Speaker 6: Is Tyler Lockwood going to be in this one?
- 53:36Speaker 5: Yes, of course.
- 53:37Speaker 3: He's in everything now. So they steal the shard of
- 53:40Speaker 3: the legendary crystal in an attempt to reignite the dying sun.
- 53:44Speaker 3: So now it's become the sunshine. But this makes no sense.
- 53:48Speaker 3: To reignite the dying sun that exists in the center
- 53:50Speaker 3: of the planet. won't that just kill everyone i mean
- 53:53Speaker 3: if there were a sun in your planet and you
- 53:55Speaker 3: ignited it you'd all burn i don't understand anything going
- 53:58Speaker 3: on fire well but the gelflings aren't made of fire
- 54:03Speaker 3: you're gonna well they already did the first time around
- 54:05Speaker 3: they killed them all i mean.
- 54:07Speaker 7: Come on there are only two gelflings so if there's
- 54:10Speaker 7: more than like four gelflings that means like Jen and
- 54:14Speaker 7: Kira made babies, and then those babies procreated with each other.
- 54:18Speaker 4: Maybe there were more of them.
- 54:19Speaker 3: Makes sense in the Bible. I thought they were all
- 54:21Speaker 3: in the first place.
- 54:23Speaker 4: And then he found her, and maybe there was more.
- 54:25Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 54:26Speaker 7: Maybe they're like, oh, we were just in hiding.
- 54:28Speaker 8: Maybe.
- 54:28Speaker 7: We were Anne Franken up in this bitch.
- 54:30Speaker 3: Maybe they just started fighting. Maybe they were just crossbreeding
- 54:38Speaker 3: with those potato face people. We're going to have a
- 54:41Speaker 3: whole new bunch of weird little potato face gilflings.
- 54:45Speaker 4: Oh, that would be ugly babies.
- 54:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I know. Potato gilflings.
- 54:50Speaker 2: Scary.
- 54:51Speaker 5: Does that look like a rumor, Wilson?
- 54:55Speaker 7: Oh!
- 54:56Speaker 3: We've been working on that one for like a.
- 54:59Speaker 4: This is why I love you.
- 55:01Speaker 3: I've been working on that one for like a year now.
- 55:03Speaker 3: It's been working off in the rafters somewhere waiting to
- 55:07Speaker 3: leap out.
- 55:07Speaker 4: You like that one?
- 55:09Speaker 6: I do.
- 55:09Speaker 4: I'm so proud of you.
- 55:10Speaker 3: Phantom of the podcast. Oh, wow.
- 55:13Speaker 12: It doesn't happen often, but every once in a while,
- 55:16Speaker 12: I drop one.
- 55:17Speaker 4: Poor girl.
- 55:18Speaker 3: Hey, I'm still giving you Tupacalypse now. That's my next hit.
- 55:23Speaker 3: That was pretty awesome.
- 55:25Speaker 7: I don't know. Dark Crystal 2 Electric Blue is pretty good.
- 55:29Speaker 3: I say that about every sequel. They should all be electric.
- 55:34Speaker 3: So yeah, that will round out this first half of
- 55:37Speaker 3: the show.
- 55:38Speaker 4: Round it out like a potato.
- 55:41Speaker 3: But as we go out here, we're going to play
- 55:43Speaker 3: something we referenced a couple of weeks back. If you
- 55:45Speaker 3: remember a few episodes ago when we were joined by
- 55:48Speaker 3: Eddie from The Empires.
- 55:49Speaker 4: Eddie's got pretty eyes.
- 55:53Speaker 3: I specifically paused to give you time to comment on
- 55:55Speaker 3: his pretty eyes. So, Marlena, do you want to add
- 55:59Speaker 3: some comments about him?
- 56:00Speaker 7: He's a very nice guy.
- 56:03Speaker 3: You're supposed to use teen-beat words like dreamy. He's so dreamy. Yeah,
- 56:08Speaker 3: thank you. Oh, wow. So while Eddie was here, he
- 56:13Speaker 3: mentioned that they were doing a remix on the opening
- 56:16Speaker 3: theme that we usually use that they had done. So
- 56:19Speaker 3: he sent me this email this week with it, and
- 56:22Speaker 3: he says, This mix is some VIP shit. It's only
- 56:25Speaker 3: available to our limited edition CDs, which I think they're
- 56:28Speaker 3: only making about 100 of, and the CDs are only
- 56:30Speaker 3: available to our live shows and a select handful of
- 56:33Speaker 3: locally owned record shops across the country. So there you go.
- 56:37Speaker 3: It has been remixed by DJ Wally Wonder, and his
- 56:40Speaker 3: website is djwallywonder.tumblr.com. So if you like it, go check
- 56:45Speaker 3: it out. I'm still kind of partial to the original, but,
- 56:47Speaker 3: you know, if you like some DJ Wally Wonder, you know,
- 56:50Speaker 3: go check him out.
- 56:51Speaker 7: Can I just say that I think the Empires need
- 56:53Speaker 7: to have their songs remixed by that same guy that
- 56:55Speaker 7: does the I'm a Ninja song?
- 56:59Speaker 3: Diantwood? Yeah, Diantwood, yeah. If you haven't seen this video, yeah.
- 57:03Speaker 1: Hi, I'm Diantwood.
- 57:05Speaker 3: Yeah, go YouTube it. What's their name again?
- 57:08Speaker 5: Die Antwood Ninja.
- 57:12Speaker 12: I've already made everybody at work suffer through it, too.
- 57:15Speaker 6: Oh, God.
- 57:16Speaker 4: Oh, Jesus.
- 57:16Speaker 7: We could.
- 57:20Speaker 4: Do that.
- 57:21Speaker 8: God, that was second-hand for so long.
- 57:23Speaker 3: All right. So with that, we will invite you to
- 57:26Speaker 3: come back and join us for the second half of
- 57:28Speaker 3: the show, where we will be discussing this week's Sofa
- 57:30Speaker 3: Theater feature, Blue Velvet.
- 57:32Speaker 4: Awesome.
- 57:33Speaker 3: Come back and join us.
- 57:40Speaker 7: Thank you.
- 58:53Speaker 11: Bye.
- 58:53Speaker 2: Bye.
- 59:00Speaker 8: Thank you.
- 59:49Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: What is in this mysterious package?
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: Is the wizard finally to come into the open? Be
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: sure to see Robin Meets the Wizard, Chapter 8.
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: Of Batman and Robin, at this theater next week.
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: This show is a production of Movie Meltdown, produced and
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: edited by Brian Renfro, with opening music performed by The Empires.
- 1:00:41Speaker 9: To help support the show, email producer at moviemeltdown.com for
- 1:00:45Speaker 9: ways that you can contribute or advertise with us.
