- 0:00Vox Liturgica: The propers of the day according to the 1962 Roman Missal. The seventeenth Sunday after Pentecost, September 20 in the year of our Lord 2026. Of this Sunday, Dom Gaspar Lefebvre writes the following. Today's epistle and gospel remind us of the great duty of charity towards God and our neighbors. The unity of our faith, of our baptism, and of our hopes, like unto the unity of the Holy Ghost, of Christ and of the father imposes on us all the duty as Saint Paul says in the epistle of being united in the bonds of charity mutually bearing with one another.
- 1:00The commandment to love our neighbor as Jesus also says is akin to that which makes us love God as it is for his sake that we love our neighbor. Double is the commandment, declares Saint Augustine, but one is charity. And to make evident his teaching to the Pharisees, Christ gives them in a text from David a proof of his divinity. In the name of the father and of the son and of the holy ghost. Amen.
- 1:44The introit. So just, oh lord, thou art. Thy award so truly given. Pity thy own servant. Blessed are they who pass through life's journey unstained, who follow the law of the Lord.
- 2:05Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost as it was in the beginning is now and will be through all ages of ages. Amen. So just, O Lord, Thou art, Thy award so truly given. Pity thy own servant. The Collect.
- 2:31Let us pray. O Lord, we beseech thee. Help thy people to shun contact with the devil and to keep our souls undefiled by following thee, the only God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God through all ages of ages. Amen. A lesson from the letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to the Ephesians.
- 3:11Brethren, here is one who wears chains in the Lord's service, pleading with you to live as befits men called to such a vocation as yours. You must be always humble, always gentle, patient too, in bearing with one another's faults as charity bids, Eager to preserve that unity the spirit gives you whose bond is peace. You are one body with a single spirit. Each of you when he was called was called in the same hope with the same lord, the same faith, the same baptism, with the same god, the same father, all of us who is above all beings, pervades all things, and lives in all of us, who is blessed for endless ages. Amen.
- 4:21The gradual. Blessed is the nation that calls the Lord its own God. The people he has chosen out to be his. It was by the Lord's word that the heavens were made. It was the breath of his lips that peopled them.
- 4:40Alleluia. Alleluia. O Lord, hear my prayer, and let my cry come unto thee. Alleluia. A continuation of the Holy Gospel according to Matthew.
- 5:00At that time the Pharisees approached Jesus and one of them, a lawyer, put a question to try him. Master, which commandment in the law is the greatest? Jesus said to him, thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart and thy whole soul and thy whole mind. This is the greatest of the commandments in the first. And the second, it's like, is this.
- 5:34Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments, all the law and the prophets depend. Then while the Pharisees were still gathered about him, Jesus asked them, what is your opinion concerning Christ? Whose son is he to be? They told him, David's.
- 6:02How is it then said he that David is moved by the spirit to call him master when he says, the Lord said to my master sit on my right hand while I make thy enemies a footstool under thy feet. David calls Christ his master. How can he be also his son? None could find a word to say an answer to him nor did anyone dare after that day to try him with further questions. The offertory.
- 6:43This was the prayer I, Daniel, made to the Lord. Listen, Lord, to the entreaties of thy servant and fill thy sanctuary with the brightness of thy presence. Look down in mercy upon this people that is called by thy divine name. The secret. We humbly implore thy majesty, o Lord, that these sacrificial offerings of ours may divest us of our past sins and guard us against sin in the future through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God through all ages of ages.
- 7:33Amen. The Preface of the Most Holy Trinity. Just it is and fitting, right in for our salvation, that we should at all times and in all places give thanks unto thee, O Holy Lord, Father Almighty, everlasting God, who together with thine only begotten Son and the Holy Ghost art one God, one Lord, not in the oneness of a single person, but in the trinity of one substance. For what we believe by thy revelation of thy glory, the same do we believe of thy son, the same of the Holy Ghost without difference or separation so that in confessing the true and eternal Godhead distinction in persons, unity in essence, and equality in majesty may be adored. In praise of which the angels and archangels, the cherubim also and Seraphim day by day exalt without end with one voice saying, holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts.
- 8:56The heavens and the earth are full of thy glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. The communion.
- 9:16To the Lord your God, let your vows be made and paid. Tributary nations on every side. To God that is feared by all stricken princes, feared among all the kings of the earth. The post communion. Let us pray.
- 9:39Oh, almighty God, let the sanctifying power of thy Eucharist cure our evil dispositions and provide us with never failing remedies through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God through all ages of ages. Amen. In the name of the Father, and of the son, and of the holy ghost. Amen. Thanks be to God.
